Temple Saint-Étienne, a 97-meter-tall Calvinist church built in the Gothic Revival style, stands as one of the tallest Protestant religious structures in Europe. It boasts the largest set of bells among Protestant churches in France and houses ancient elements such as choir stalls dating back to 1637 and vibrant leaded-glass windows from the 14th century.
Beautiful from outside and also gorgeous stained glass inside (you can go on the second floor to see it closer)

Temple Saint-Étienne, Mulhouse: A Historic Gem in the Heart of the City I visited the Temple Saint-Étienne this afternoon and although it was closed at the time, just seeing it from the outside was a wonderful experience. It’s located right in the center of Mulhouse, on the beautiful **Place de la Réunion**, and it truly dominates the square with its stunning architecture and towering presence. ### 🏛️ Architecture & Atmosphere: The church is a magnificent example of **neo-Gothic architecture**, with a dramatic stone façade, tall spire, and detailed sculptures that give it a majestic, timeless feel. The massive stained glass windows are particularly striking—even from the outside you can sense their beauty. The church is sometimes referred to as the “Cathedral of Mulhouse” because of its scale and elegance, even though it’s technically a Protestant temple. ### 🕰️ Opening Hours: **Important to know before visiting** – the Temple is **only open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM**. I arrived outside those hours, so unfortunately I couldn’t go inside—but I will definitely return another day during the open hours to see the interior. ### 📖 Historical Insight: Originally built in the 19th century, the Temple replaced a medieval church and has since become a symbol of Mulhouse’s Protestant heritage. It houses some beautiful historic stained glass windows dating back to the 14th century (from the original building), as well as a remarkable organ and wooden choir stalls. ### ✅ Tips for Visitors: * Located centrally, it's easy to access on foot while exploring Mulhouse. * Great photo opportunity, especially around sunset when the light hits the stone beautifully. * Be sure to plan your visit during **open hours (Wed–Sun, 13h–19h)** if you want to explore inside. * Entry is usually **free**, and sometimes you’ll find exhibitions or quiet organ music playing during opening times. ### 🌟 Final Thoughts: Even though I only saw it from the outside this time, the Temple Saint-Étienne left a strong impression. It’s more than just a place of worship—it’s a piece of Mulhouse’s soul. Looking forward to returning soon for a full visit inside.
CSJ B — Google review
A charming church, protestant. There is no ostentatious cross or large portraits, just an old book (Bible) on the altar. The carvings outside the church are super impressive, and the inside is unique as well. You can take the stairs to have a view from the top. It is all free (though remember God is watching, so make a donation!)

The most important building of Mulhouse area. Iconic and great Architecture, the exact heart of the city. Almost all touristic spots and shopping streets are located around this church.
Deilgin D — Google review
Located on Réunion Square, in the heart of Mulhouse, this temple was built between 1858 and 1868 on the site of a church dating from the 12th century. His plans are due to J.B. Schacre, in a neo-Gothic style then very fashionable. It still houses the magnificent stained glass windows that were in this old church. The latter are among the most beautiful in the Upper Rhine.
1girl 1 — Google review
I saw this imposing structure at the center of Mulhouse and thought it was a cathedral but it's actually a Protestant church that is Calvinist. Standing 97 meters tall, the bell tower is visible from outside the city and certainly dominates any of the lanes or pedestrian streets inside the city with a view. This is not the first structure here - there had been a Romanesque building from the 12th century but it was removed in 1858. The new building was constructed between 1859 and 1866, designed by Jean-Bapsiste Schacre. Inside the church, don't miss the leaded-glass windows that date to the 13th century. And if you're here when they ring, the bells are the largest of any Protestant church in France.

Street art is a dynamic and ever-changing exhibition found in cities, featuring various works like a metallic monster, creaking sheep made from springs, and strange hieroglyphics adorning facades. It's a living art experience that invites people to take a street-art safari with their sneakers and cameras. Some pieces are well-respected by other artists, while others fall victim to vandals. The street art gallery in Mulhouse is constantly changing and worth visiting on a trip there.

(Translated by Google) This place is the most beautiful detour to make when we visit Mulhouse but I find it a shame that the city has not left more space for graffiti artists to fully express themselves on all the surfaces of the place. This means that you have warehouses quickly behind which could be opened to let the artists paint their graffiti inside because currently we quickly go around and we see that the municipality has had a lot of repaint of certain walls to erase very beautiful graffiti I would have liked it to continue much further with a new wall so that we can really leave even more space for graffiti artists to come and leave their signature and their canvas. It is a shame that there were not many and that many beautiful tags have been replaced by amateur graffiti or even 0 tallent (Original) Cette endroit est le plus beau détour a faire quand nous visitons Mulhouse mais je trouve dommage que la ville a pas laisser plus de place pour pour les artistes du graffiti s exprimer pleinement sur tout les surfaces du lieux . The Musée National de l'Automobile, also known as the Cité de l'Automobile or the Mulhouse Car Museum, is a vast complex that houses over 500 classic, prestige, and racing cars. It is considered the largest car museum in the world. The museum showcases the history of automobiles from their inception in the late 19th century to present day.
What a place! Totally didn't expect it to be quite this big or have as many cars and exhibits!! It is well worth the entrance fee and the exhibits are laid out really well. It has around 500 cars and 120 Bugatti's on display! The restaurant is great too and decent value. If you are in the area, visit and spend the afternoon seeing some great cars!
Alasdair M — Google review
If you’re a fan of classic cars, this museum is a mustsee. The collection is vast and seems endless, with many beautifully preserved vintage models. During my visit, there was also a special Tintin exhibition, which made it even more enjoyable.
Izem M — Google review
This was a quick day trip for us while staying in Basel. Amazing collection of automotive history and well worth spending a few hours to explore. The collection of cars from the Tintin books was very cool, particularly if you're a Tintin fan like me!
Kenneth C — Google review
DEFINITELY A MUST if you're in Mulhouse area, east France. The fact that Musée National de l'Automobile has an collection of more than 400+ cars ranging from more than 100 years ago, is amazing itself. Not to mention they have probably the world most complete collection of Bugatti, like almost a hundred of them. And one of them in the Masterpiece area, the 1936 50T Cabriolet, is now the world most expensive vehicle, worth 100M Euro !!! The details of it, and the idea of building a luxury car back to almost 100 years ago, is really highly admired.
Bill L — Google review
One of the finest collections of automobiles. Very spacious and well lit. A lot of cars from the beginning period. The Titin collection was fun too. And the best public Bugatti collection. Maybe a bit too much Bugatti for me. Shame they didn't have a Veyron which is arguably the most iconic modern supercar. The Stellantis exhibition didnt do it for me. And we need more benches to rest, the museum is massive but few benches
Klarald B — Google review
A very interesting museum, even if you’re not a car enthusiast. It’s all about history, design, and how cars have shaped society. The rollover car simulation was a lot of fun!
Alexandru L — Google review
Millions of dollars worth of cars, and they couldn’t get a decent translator for the placards? Honestly it became kind of amusing just how bad the English translations were after a while. The cars are stunning, there is no denying that. Arguably the most complete collection of vintage Bugattis in the world (but surprisingly no modern ones - no Chiron, EB110, not even a Veyron? Maybe they’re locked away somewhere else) 1/4 of the cars in the main hall were covered in white drapes due to construction. To the contractors/ museum officials, I say to you: “ plastic sheeting comes in transparent forms”. Overall a vanity project of a (now dead) rich white guy but there’s some stellar automotive and racing history laid out in these rooms. You’re in Mulhouse, you’re likely gonna go.
Greg M — Google review
One of the best car collections I have seen. From old to new and some extremely rare peices. We spent about 3 hours in here. There were lots of other things inside to keep children entertained too. There was a section all about Tintin which showed the different books and the cars linked to it which was nice. There was a driving simulator, small ride on cars and a vr F1 experience.

The Musée de l'Impression sur Étoffes in Mulhouse, France, showcases the history of cloth printing and its significance to the region. The museum's collection began with designs printed by the Koechlin family during the 18th century, eventually growing into a world-renowned assortment of printed textiles from various times and places.
This was a fascinating museum dedicated to fabric and textile printing. My traveling companion was reading a book on the history of textiles and the museum exhibits perfectly matched the descriptions in the book. We loved the old printing machinery and the different dyes. The museum ticket was unique, definitely worth keeping.
Nathan J — Google review
Great museum for the price. About an hour to visit, maybe 2 if you read everything exhaustively. Explores a lot of history I was not aware of before. Also a huge shop for things like clothes and curtains, in addition to the usual souvenirs.
Mikhail L — Google review
This was a surprisingly lovely museum and experience. It's two floors, with an exhibit that stays constant, and one that changes. It's tasteful and well done. It's never crowded (!) This museum is for: fashion and textile people, art students and artists, people who like history and the rise and fall of the industrial revolution, anyone with an aunty or mother in law who likes things like this :) Every thing is in French and it's small:)
Kate M — Google review

Interesting place to visit. Take care if you want to visit it but don't speak French fluently. Not everything is translated yet.
Moritz H — Google review
We enjoyed the fabrics of display, the historical pieces the merchants brought from Asia and the Orient during the peak of textiles in Mulhouse, and the historical display of printed fabrics until the present. The latter was a probably the highlight for me. I wanted to see more fabrics, especially more dresses! Some were beautiful. The building was purpose built as a museum. The entrance ticket was a small piece of printed fabric, that was a nice surprise. I liked the printing room a little less, but understand its value historically. I enjoyed also the small shop, just wish I had more to spend there.
Rebecca N — Google review
Loved the museum, lots to look at. The printing block were amazing, sadly there was no printing demo on the day I went, would have loved to see that. Particularly liked the special feature; a graphic show of pattern projected and accompanied by specially composed music. Rather disappointing gift shop.

The Electropolis Museum, situated in the Dornach district of Mulhouse, is a must-visit for enthusiasts keen on delving into the history of electricity and household gadgets. It houses the impressive Generator Sulzer BBC from 1901, which was initially preserved to establish the museum. The museum stands as Europe's largest dedicated to these subjects and provides an extensive exploration of electricity's evolution from its early discoveries to its contemporary applications in daily life.
Really interesting museum - I should have paid more attention in school! Lots of facts and history to take in and the exhibits are all labelled in French, German and English making it easy to understand. Fun things for the kids to do too and and outside exhibition area.

Came to Mulhouse for Cité du Train, but ended up loving the Electropolis Museum (2 mins away by foot) just as much. Great for kids and adults alike! Take advantage of the nice discount when you visit both museums.

Excellent museum of electricity with plenty of information in French, English and German. Very interactive, good for all ages from 5 years and up. It is located by the huge train museum and has a discounted combo ticket option. Must see in Alsace Lorraine.
Vitaly G — Google review
Nice museum about the history of electricity. The beginning is somewhat dry and maybe not very appealing to children. The show about static electricity was great. „The machine“ was cool, but the videos chaotic. Also liked the little experiments afterwards. Some could use some fixing. Game in the garden was funny, but only doable because there weren’t many kids, would have been hard to do them otherwise.
Georg F — Google review

Pharmacy Aux Lys Zielinski has a rich history dating back to 1649 when it was established as a pharmacy by Jean-Henri Engelmann after the Thirty Years War. The building's interior boasts 17th-century paintings, adding to its historical charm. Visitors praise the friendly and helpful staff who take the time to explain medications and provide efficient service. The pharmacy is known for always having medications available and being conveniently located.

(Translated by Google) This pharmacy discriminates and operates at the head of the customer. They refused to give me my usual medical treatment (I have ALD) even though they were presented with a VALID prescription, prescribed a few days ago by my attending physician. Their excuse: it's a drug subject to a lot of "trafficking" in general, so they don't prefer to dispense it to me. I am sure that if I had had white skin, no one would have allowed themselves to make this kind of shameful allusion. I did not ask to be born with a serious and restrictive genetic disease in everyday life, it is absolutely not my problem if my treatment is subject to any traffic, or anything else. I had to go to another pharmacy to finally get my treatment, WITHOUT ANY JUDGMENT. I have been prescribed this medication for over 10 years, and this is the first time this type of incident has happened to me. I have rarely been the victim of discrimination in my 30 years of existence, I am shocked that in 2024 some people can still be prejudiced and “distrust” someone (to the point of not wanting to provide them with medical treatment) , simply based on a skin color that we did not choose. A complaint for “discriminatory refusal of care” will be filed with the council of the National Order of Pharmacists. I also plan to alert as many people as possible via social networks. I will never set foot in this pharmacy again, what a shame! Update following the response left by the pharmacy, 06/10/2024: I have read your response, it has been recorded and will be attached to my complaint. However : 1) I was in possession of my UP-TO-DATE vital card, which I presented to the pharmacist. She also inserted my health card into the reader provided for this purpose connected to her computer, in order to verify that I was indeed in 100% ALD, which was the case. I strongly urge you to check your surveillance cameras if you have them, before making false allegations. Further proof of the bad faith of this establishment. 2) I also invite you to reread my comment, no threat was made on my side. I am simply informing you of my desire to initiate proceedings following the discrimination I suffered from you. I remind you that filing a complaint is a RIGHT that I have as a French citizen, and in no way constitutes a threat. I invite you once again to check the definitions of the words you use before making unsubstantiated allegations. This will be my last response, I prefer to let the complaint procedure that I have initiated take its course. Cordialement,
Sophie N — Google review

This quaint neighborhood features narrow streets lined with picturesque houses and lush gardens, originally designed in the mid-19th century to provide workers with homeownership opportunities. As you stroll through this serene area, particularly around the enchanting Passage des Alouettes, you'll feel as if you've stepped away from the city's hustle and bustle.

Cité du Train is a modern museum dedicated to the history of trains and railways, featuring an extensive collection of rolling stock and audiovisual exhibitions. It is renowned as the largest railway museum globally, with three main exhibits showcasing the evolution of rail travel through different eras. The museum's comprehensive scope has expanded over the years, including notable additions such as the famous TGV-Atlantique #325, which set a speed record in the early 1990s.
Definitely one of the great Train Museums of the World. Apart from the normal for Europe rolling stock, they even have three American made Locomotives. A MUST see if you're interested in History and Technology. Kid friendly, they have two kid rides.
Hector G — Google review
If you are a train fan, reserve 3-4 hours of your time to see everything. For everyone else: at least 2 hours to just walk the whole thing. Fantastic collection, large and diverse. Great for all ages; there are educational sections, too, to learn how trains work. Entrance was 16 EUR, which, in my opinion, is absolutely reasonable for the content you are getting. There is a local restaurant on site where you can eat for 15-20 EUR per adult, drinks included. Very easy access by public transport: 20-minute tram ride + 450-meter walk.

One of the most amazing museums I’ve ever visited! 3 hours went by without noticing and both us parents as well as our 5 year old kid had loads of fun! Totally recommend this place!

Nice railway museum with lots of examples of former trains (including various record-breaking locomotives and TGV trains!). There’s a gift shop and restaurant. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
Rob ( — Google review
Visiting this museum truly felt like an authentic journey back in time. The sheer variety of the trains on display was incredibly impressive; I honestly never imagined that locomotives and passenger cars could be so stunningly beautiful. I was especially fascinated to learn about the most luxurious 'apartment trains,' which were essentially rolling homes complete with sleeping rooms, dining cars, showers, and even private cabinets. It was a genuine surprise to see how many domestic comforts were available on the rails, historically and perhaps even today. What truly sets this museum apart is its immersive organization. It’s not just a static collection of old trains, but a thoughtful presentation of a specific historical era. The museum does an excellent job of creating the atmosphere of the past by installing various figures to simulate scenes of travel and daily life. While I would agree that the figures themselves weren't always aesthetically perfect, the recreated scenes and detailed environments successfully brought the history to life, offering a powerful sense of context and time.
Alona K — Google review
A really great museum let down however by the state of the toilets, and the attitude towards this when raised to the manager of the museum. In essence her attitude was that it was a busy weekend and they didn't have enough staff. I understand there was an event on, however doing frequent checks of the facilities, or even hiring some temporary staff wouldn't have gone amiss.

City Hall - History Museum is a former city hall that now showcases the local history and culture from prehistoric to modern times. The building itself is a sight to behold, and entry is free. Inside, visitors can explore the town's textile industry heritage through an extensive collection of printed materials from various historical periods and cultures. While English information may be limited, enthusiastic staff are on hand to share insights into the area's history.
Beautiful historic building. Amazing addition to the historic city centre and town square, would love to stare at this all day long. Beautiful starcase. Looks in immaculate condition, even the flag was in top shape. No trash or littre anywhere to be found, very welle cared for. It wasnt open though would have loved to see the inside.

The small museum is located in the old town hall. It presents (not in great detail) the history of the city from the Stone Age to the present day. The council room is impressive! You need about 40 minutes to visit it, maximum one hour. Free entry.

The city center of Mulhouse is a charming blend of history and modernity, offering something for everyone. At its heart lies the Place de la Réunion, a picturesque square surrounded by colorful Alsatian-style buildings. The iconic Temple Saint-Étienne, a neo-Gothic church, dominates the square, and its intricate stained-glass windows are a must-see.

Free entry which is very pleasant. Friendly staff. Lots to look around inside. Will be helpful to have some English information as all displays are either French/ German. Very hard to understand and having to translate everything to get a better understanding. The only downside is having to wearing backpack on the front because they are afraid it will knock into something but this is rarely possible as most things are bordered off. It was actually worse trying to carry backpack on the front as made it difficult to move arms around and take photos or bend to see displays.

We loved our visit to the city hall and the museum. The building is so historically and unique. You can visit the museum free of charge and learn about the city's history on 3 floors of the building. The staff is kind. It is a really nice thing from the city to enter the museum without ticket fee. So everybody has opportunity to know the history of Alsace and Mulhouse.

Definitely worth a visit, the only downside for me was that all the descriptions of the individual things were all in french which was a shame, I had to take out my phone all the time to translate and well the translation often didn't make much sense :/, but in general it was a very enjoyable experience.

(Translated by Google) What an immense sadness to learn of the disappearance of one of the greatest artists of conceptual art or contemporary expressionism... His pierced Ferrari Testarossa which still runs or his Jaguar fighter plane planted at the entrance to his museum are new and brilliant works which speak for themselves. Personally, I particularly love "Dollar Juice", "Dirty Money", "Femme Fatale" or even "Stone of Happiness" which are so expressive, fair and elegant denouncing a consumer society where money is king. Go visit this superb Museum which will allow you to take a step back from Life, from yourself and to pay homage to this creative genius who will mark his time. Goodbye artist! (Translated by Google) Beware of the term "contemporary art museum"! This isn't a contemporary art museum, I've been fooled! I want to share my disappointment with this place, which presents itself as a museum, when in reality it's a private exhibition and sales space. There's no authentic collection, no educational explanations, and no cultural mediation. It feels more like a place designed for personal purposes, a bit like an ego trip. The works are sexist, misogynistic, and materialistic, which can make you feel really uncomfortable and which objectify women and reduce them to bodies and sexual attributes. The works in no way question the place of art in its territory. I think that in 2025, it's time to question this type of space and its influence on society. There's an admission fee (€10-12). Forget about the free admission to the museum for those with precarious incomes (students, RSA, etc.). Sorry, but I don't recommend this place to anyone looking for a serious or enriching cultural experience.

(Translated by Google) The Dan Gerbo Gallery is now on the Museums-pass, so you have to go see this unusual gallery. I would compare this place with the David Cerny museum in Prague. The relationship with money, cars, weapons, and women is seen through a contemporary, offbeat perspective, a bold, intense masculine analysis. In short, a vision of life, an existential questioning. The building is nice, and the "hunter" planted at its entrance is impressive. It's therefore a place to see, especially since the temporary exhibitions are also worth the detour, with big names like Vincent D'Onofrio and Renato Montanaro there.

(Translated by Google) Conference room with 88 seats in the pedestrian city center of Mulhouse. Seats with writing tablet. It's a shame, however, that there is no specific parking at the Cour des Chaînes other than the Ste Marie parking lot which is always full. Trouble every time.

(Translated by Google) The Cour des Chaînes is magnificent, its architecture and the atmosphere that reigns there take us back to the distant past. Le Cortile on the corner, a sumptuous restaurant, delights the taste buds of the lucky ones. The Gambrinus higher up where you can taste the beers of the world. In short... it's a neighborhood to frequent!

Belvédère Tower, located near the zoo, offers a stunning panoramic view of the Sundgau region. Although currently closed for renovations until spring 2022, it is a popular spot for visitors to enjoy the picturesque surroundings. Situated in the affluent Rebberg district, it provides an excellent vantage point to admire Mulhouse city and its lush greenery. On clear days, visitors can marvel at views extending to the Vosges, Schwartzwald, Jura and Alps.
The overview is really nice over the Mulhouse city and also it is interesting that from the top of the tower, you can orient yourself and discover the directions to various important geographical points: the Alps, the Black Forest mountains, big cities etc..
Vlad R — Google review
The view is nice, but the city’s skyline in general is just boring. Nothing to do with the tower itself, but it’s not a must-see like observation decks in some other cities.
Mikhail L — Google review
Nice location to observe all around Mulhouse the time I visited was very relaxing
Sutharsanan P — Google review
The tower itself is neither beautiful nor innovative, nothing to look at it. However, it's in a part of Mulhouse that's affluent and very different from the center and it was fun getting there by bike. I rather enjoyed it but I agree with some of the other reviews, I wouldn't go unless I'm in the area (which is what happened).
L R — Google review
Nice Tower to have a birdseye view of Mulhouse and surrounding areas including mountains.

Great place to see the surrounding area. Located next to a Park. A great place for friends and family and pets.
