Restaurant La Ponche, located in the Old Town of Saint-Tropez, offers a Mediterranean culinary experience with a focus on fresh local fish and original vegetables. The iconic hotel's dining room and sundeck provide stunning views of the ocean, making it an ideal spot to enjoy a sunset in St. Tropez. The restaurant is known for its elegant and inventive cuisine, which was favored by Bridgitte Bardot.
Really lovely meal after a long day of travel. Every staff member I spoke to had a smile on their face and a warm offer of assistance. The Plein Soleil no-alcohol cocktail was quite refreshing. To start I had the blue fin crudo with burrata foam, following by the gnochetti with shell fish (mercifully already out of the shell). The desserts looked good but I simply had an espresso to finish my delicious dinner. The meal was also an opportunity to see the beautiful interiors by Fabrizio Casiraghi. I’m working with his firm on a project and so it was good to see another realized project in person. Highly recommend.

The portions are ridiculously small. We ordered zucchini flowers for 20€ and got one zucchini flower (see photo). The main dish was also relatively small though not ridiculous. They provide plenty of carbs such as bread and rice to fill you as the food is a joke. Avoid like the plague! The flavors are really quite good but nothing that you will remember.

Had lunch here on Sat May 25th, had the linguine with mushrooms and a strawberry basil cocktail. The food and drink were tasty and delicious. The restaurant is cozy with warm friendly service. This will be my go to place when I’m in St. Tropez. Thank you Adrian and Pierre for an amazing experience.

San T — Google review
Generally disappointed with dinner. Staying at the hotel with one other person and was excited to eat dinner here. Ordered the beef tenderloin medium rare amongst other starters and main courses. Starters and the risotto were good. Beef tenderloin was raw on the inside and seared on the outside. I am generally ok with my beef more on the rare side of medium rare but there was no denying it was completely raw on the inside. I ate the pieces I could and had some of the other main course. I informed the wait staff and to their credit they asked several times if I wanted it to be put back on the grill. I declined because when paying €64 for beef I would assume it would be properly cooked. I did not complain and simply asked for the bill. No adjustments were made and I paid full price. I was thanked for my service and left. I wasn’t expecting a comped meal as I ate most of it and refused to have it put back on the grill but overall was disappointed in the service and the outcome as it detracted from an otherwise decent meal and experience. **EDIT** I would like to add that after this review one of the restaurant managers spoke with me in person as I was leaving the hotel. She apologized for the error and offered compensation. I appreciate the attentiveness from the staff.
Michael S — Google review
The food was good and there were kid friendly options if needed. The service was excellent as well. Also the atmosphere was very nice and it was near the port of Saint-Tropez, and you get a view on the sea if you have a good table.
Charles V — Google review
During one of the busiest weeks of the year in St Tropez, La Ponche truly impressed us. We’d booked dinner for 8 pm but I misremembered the time — the hostess called to check, graciously rescheduled us, and later found us a perfect front-row terrace table overlooking the bay. When on our subsequent approach, we struggled to find parking anywhere in town, she immediately offered the hotel’s valet service, saving the evening. Superb, friendly service (rare in mid-August here) and excellent food and drinks. Highly recommended!
R R — Google review
I’ve been coming here since I was a child and it has always been a family tradition to return every year. Compared to many other restaurants in St. Tropez, this place still holds a special charm for me it carries an authentic, non-commercial touch. That said, the service unfortunately falls short of what it should be. The staff tend to treat guests as if they are just passing tourists who won’t return, rather than valued customers. There is no real explanation of the dishes, no one checking in to ask how the food is, and no attention to whether the wine or water needs refilling. It’s such a pity, because with better service the experience could truly match the beauty and authenticity of the setting. You could do so much better if you truly care about this place. It deserves to shine again, in the spirit of Madame Duckstein.

Port de Saint-Tropez is a charming harbor lined with cafes and shops, making it a popular destination for sailing and luxury yachts. With 734 moorings spread over two basins, the port offers an impressive spectacle of dream yachts. It hosts various nautical events such as regattas and races that pay tribute to the area's maritime history.
As a child, I grew up watching Louis de Funès, especially the iconic Gendarme series. Visiting this place felt truly magical—it instantly transported me back to those cherished moments of watching those hilarious and heartwarming films with my family. The excitement of seeing it for the first time was unforgettable.

Saint-Tropez is a glamorous coastal town on the French Riviera, known for its beautiful beaches, historic charm, and luxurious lifestyle. Once a small fishing village, Saint-Tropez became famous in the mid-20th century, thanks to celebrities and artists drawn to its scenic beauty and unique atmosphere. The town’s history dates back to the Roman era, and it has a rich cultural heritage, evident in its architecture and landmarks. If you’re visiting, start with Vieux Port (Old Port), where you can admire luxury yachts alongside traditional fishing boats. The colorful waterfront is lined with cafes and restaurants, perfect for soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. Don’t miss La Ponche, the historic old quarter that showcases the original charm of Saint-Tropez with narrow, winding streets and quaint buildings. Another must-visit is the Citadel of Saint-Tropez, a fortress offering panoramic views of the town and sea, along with a maritime museum that highlights the area’s seafaring history. Finally, take some time to relax on Pampelonne Beach, known for its clear waters and upscale beach clubs, making it a quintessential Saint-Tropez experience. This town perfectly combines historical allure with modern luxury, making it a memorable destination on the French Riviera.

Many restaurants, coffee shops, public toilets and big parking area, not far from old town with stunning views and boats ( you can rent boats as some of them displayed their offers ). A good walking tour between old and new.

I heard so much about St Tropez that I skipped other places just to be here. It was very unfortunate that it wasn't as I expected. We took a ferry from Nice on Tuesday. There was town market at the market square. I didn't find anything really special there. Of course there were rows of high end boutiques and shops for those who go for branded goods. The self operated public toilet which cost 50 cent was very dirty. The only cafe we found was the one near the market square. There were many restaurants at the port. Personally, will not be going there again.

A nice find in the picturesque ruelles of St. Tropez! The collection is really impressive consisting of small treasures of the Mediterranean as well as exotic samples. Very cosy and welcoming atmosphere and a friendly hostess. Recommended both for kids and adults.

A really lovely little enjoyable museum. Not only the displayed specimens are beautiful, but they are arranged on the paintings mr. Lartigue has done, giving an extra "ooomph" to the exibit. Also the history of the creator is quite interesting. Multi-talented and a passionate bloke.
Cannibal C — Google review
Super little butterfly museum on a backstreet. Set on two floors, ground floor has amazing displays, upper floor more academic. The museum is little and we went in Sept 2014. It was 3 euros entry, a very modest price and it does reflect how small it is but it is interesting. Yes, there are no actual live butterflies but that is to be expected up a small backstreet in St Tropez.

Such a wonderful museum and look out point. Full of great info on St Tropez and its rich maritime history. Beautiful views of many different harbors and pretty peacocks all around the grounds. Only 5 euro to get in in 2025.

Steeped in history and overlooking the sparkling gulf, the Citadel is one of the most beautiful viewpoints on the Riviera. I loved exploring its cobblestone paths and the maritime museum inside. This was my second time visiting Saint-Tropez and I’m so glad I made the time to come up to the citadel.

Amazing view of St.Tropez and surrounding coast not a lot of tourists even in August peka times, there's a naval museum with cool stuff, bit stuffy air. Make sure to take some water because there's a bit of a climb to a hill. There's also peacocks roaming about

To be honest this is probably the best place to visit in Saint Tropez. You get a nice panoramic view of the entire Saint Tropez at just 5 euros, and you get to learn about the cool maritime history behind the town of Saint Tropez (before it became a touristy yacht town). There are peacocks too!

The Annonciade Museum, housed in a 16th-century chapel, showcases an impressive collection of post-Impressionist paintings dating from 1890 to 1950. This former chapel of the White Penitent order features works by renowned artists such as Matisse, Derain, and Marquet. The museum is a testament to Saint-Tropez's significance as an avant-garde center in the early 20th century.
This little gem of a museum is right on the sea-front. It looks over the port of St Tropez. Paintings by famous impressionists depict that same port. The scenery in the paintings contrasts massively with the port today. Brigitte Bardot made the town famous, but for sure she could not have expected that her beauty would attract such huge oversized yachts registered in tax free havens to come and squeeze into that little fishing port.
Aliki — Google review
Unfortunately while I was visiting the ground floor was closed due to the preparation for the temporary exhibition. But a charming little collection of impressionist paintings on the second floor is very corresponding to the spirit of Saint Tropez city
Petite P — Google review
Housed in a former 16th-century chapel just steps from the port, the museum feels intimate yet filled with artistic treasures that capture the spirit of the Riviera. A small but incredible collection from the late 19th to mid-20th century and brings together works by painters who were drawn to Saint Tropez for its Mediterranean light. It includes vibrant examples of Pointillism, Fauvism, and the Nabis movement. Seeing paintings by Paul Signac, Henri Matisse, Pierre Bonnard, Georges Braque, and Raoul Dufy in one place is already remarkable, but what impressed me most was discovering the early work of Francis Picabia. His luminous Vue de la Citadelle de Saint Tropez offers a softer, almost nostalgic vision of the town, very different from the avant-garde style he later became known for. Must see and is right at the Harbour in Saint Tropez
Karin B — Google review
Not extravagant experience but real educational and informative. If you love history, paintings and culture, visiting this place will add more knowledge to your brain. The Annonciade Museum, located in Saint-Tropez, France, is renowned for its impressive collection of modern art, particularly works from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Established in 1986, the museum showcases pieces by artists associated with the Fauvism movement, such as Henri Matisse and André Derain, as well as other prominent figures like Paul Signac and Georges Braque. The museum is housed in a former chapel, which adds a unique architectural charm to the art viewing experience. It not only highlights the evolution of modern art but also emphasizes the artistic significance of the French Riviera, attracting art lovers and tourists alike. Nestled in a stunning 17th-century Genoese villa, the Musée Matisse is a captivating homage to the renowned artist Henri Matisse and his deep connection to Nice. Surrounded by ancient olive trees, this museum offers an enchanting exploration of Matisse's artistic journey, featuring an extensive collection that spans from his early masterpieces to his later groundbreaking works. The vibrant colors and dynamic forms on display reflect Matisse's love for the Riviera’s breathtaking landscapes and lively atmosphere.
A small museum showcasing the things that inspired Matisse. A focused but modest collection, perfect for Matisse fans or a tranquil cultural stop. It might take a bit longer to get inside, but you can walk through it fairly quickly. I felt it could use a few more visual displays. Still, for Matisse lovers like me, it’s a lovely museum, set within a very large park.

Clear signage guided visitors smoothly to entrances and exits, and the walking paths were comfortable for all ages, including elderly visitors. The surrounding area was peaceful, clean, and well-kept, making the approach to the museum pleasant. Entry & Organization: The entry process was well managed — ticketing was quick and efficient, lines moved fast, and staff at the entrance were polite and professional. Informational materials and signs were clear, accurate, and helpful, setting the tone for an organized visit. Ambience & Presentation: The museum’s atmosphere was calm, elegant, and perfectly suited to the spirit of Henri Matisse’s art. The lighting and layout allowed each piece to be appreciated properly, and the building itself reflected the artist’s world beautifully — bright, airy, and reflective of Mediterranean harmony. The spaces were spotless and comfortable, with good temperature control and crowd management. Exhibits / Features: The artworks were well-curated, offering an engaging journey through Matisse’s evolution. Photography was allowed where appropriate and managed respectfully. All artwork explanations are in French only, with no English translations. For a museum in such a popular tourist country, bilingual descriptions should be standard. Staff & Visitor Support: Staff were visible and courteous throughout the museum, always ready to assist when needed. The facilities, including restrooms and the gift shop, were clean and well maintained, adding to the overall comfort of the visit. Value & Experience: The visit offered excellent value — beautifully organized, inspiring, and educational. The Matisse Museum delivered exactly what one hopes for: a serene, thoughtful experience surrounded by art that celebrates color, form, and emotion. ⭐ 4.5 / 5

a true gem for anyone who loves art, color, and calm. Set in a beautiful villa surrounded by olive trees, it offers not only a glimpse into Matisse’s artistic journey but also a sense of serenity that’s rare to find. Walking through the rooms, you can feel how deeply Matisse loved light and simplicity. From his early sketches to his joyful cut-outs, every piece tells a story of experimentation and freedom. I especially loved seeing his personal objects and drawings — they make you feel closer to the artist as a person, not just a painter. The museum is not large, but that’s part of its charm — it invites you to slow down and really look. The staff were friendly, and the surrounding park is perfect for a quiet stroll after the visit.

The Matisse Museum in Nice is a true gem for art lovers. Located in the picturesque Colline du Château area, the museum impresses with its blend of modern exhibition spaces and historical architecture. The collection features over 200 works by Matisse, from early sketches to mature paintings, as well as graphics, sculptures, and personal items. Each piece reflects the artist’s unique vision of color, form, and light. The exhibition is thoughtfully arranged, making it easy to follow the evolution of Matisse’s style. The atmosphere is calm, bright, and inspiring, creating a comfortable and emotionally engaging experience. The staff is polite and helpful, and guided tours or audio guides are available to gain deeper insight into Matisse’s work. For anyone who appreciates art and wants to experience the magic of color and form, the Matisse Museum is an absolute must-visit in Nice.

Beautiful museum, I visited during the Matisse Méditerranée exhibition, a spectacular collection that shows Matisse’s multiple artistic skills and interests. We visited on Monday afternoon and it was quiet. We bought some really nice paintings at the museum shop.

Highly recommend this piece and place. I walked from Nice old town, it's a bit of a slog and uphill but on a clear sunny day, it's nice to see the suburbs. The museum itself is great, over 3 floors and plentiful of art to see. The shop is a delight, picked up some Matisse prints for a cheap price.

A nice experience in Nice 😉 Though I must admit, I often wasn’t sure what I was meant to ponder in the details. That being said, I believe once I stop before a painting, let my eyes rest on it, and find my attention caught by any small detail or contrast in colour, then the artist’s purpose is served.

The Matisse museum showcases the breadths of work of Matisse, from oil paintings, paper cutouts to abstract works, stained glass, and sculptures. The exhibit is larger than it seems from the outside, as it includes two subterranean levels. Wheelchair accessible. Nice gift shop.

Abbaye du Thoronet, part of the trio of great Provencal Cistercian abbeys, is a masterpiece of sacred architecture. Built between 1160 and 1190, it stands out for its ultra-austere style with pure proportions and perfectly dressed stone. The abbey's well-preserved cellar showcases the original equipment used by monks to make wine and olive oil. Visitors can easily imagine the strict lives led by the monks within its walls.
I really enjoyed my visit. It’s in a very special place in amongst the lovely wooded hills of the Var. I didn’t mind paying the entrance fee because how much would it cost to maintain these sort of buildings and repair them! It was lovely to walk around and soak in the atmosphere. There’s also a lovely cafe just outside at run by a lovely mother and his son And there was good spots for us to park our bicycles.

To me there was almost no the spirit- they made it like museum and take 9 euro for the entrance. Disapointed.

This is off the beaten path a little, but we were so glad we visited. Beautifully restored 900 year old Abbey. If you are looking for fancy gargoyles and intricate designs then this isn't the place for you. It is sleek and simple in lines and impresses with its size, simple beauty, and sense of peace. The acoustics are impressive, whether in the church or the monks dormitory. The barrel vaulted ceilings and cloisters are beautiful. Visited on a Tuesday and there were only a dozen or so other visitors there at the same time so often we had spaces to ourselves. The parking lot is just across the road and it is a 200m or so walk on a cobbled path to the entrance through the reception/gift shop. Audio guides are available in English. There is a kiosk selling cold drinks & gelato by the car park.

Beautiful abandoned monastery set among trees a few miles outside Carcès. The monks may have gone, but their church and monastic buildings remain and it's fascinating to look at how they, and the Lay Brothers, lived their simple lives. (Not too simple though. Look at the size of that tithe barn). The acoustics in the the Romanesque church are wonderful. Outside, even the grasshoppers keep reverentially quiet. If feeding the flesh is as important to you as feeding the spirit, then there's a very pleasant little coffee shop in the car park a few hundred yards away. Tickets are 9€ and can be bought in advance on the website.

We went here on the recommendation of a family member and were not disappointed. What a fantastic abbey that is still in it's original condition. You can take a 1 hour guided tour or take the map and tour on your own. If you would like a guided tour in a different language than French, make sure you call ahead and request the language you would like for your tour. The atmosphere here was very peaceful. Plenty to photograph and appreciate. Would definitely recommend a tour here if you are in the area. Well worth it.

Barrage de Malpasset is a historical landmark that stands as an impressive testament to the power of nature. The concrete arch dam ruptured in 1959, leading to a catastrophic flood that claimed many lives. The site features massive concrete blocks with reinforced steel beams scattered across the valley. It takes about 20 minutes to reach the dam on foot from the parking lot, and another 10 minutes to continue along the trail towards the lake.
Beautiful surreal landscape and ruins given the tragedy of 1959, well worth a visit, free car park, not many humans there on a Monday morning even though extremely hot

Impressive landmark which shows the sheer power of the water when the dam burst in 1959. Massive concrete blocks with reinforced steel beams are shattered across the valley. From the parking lot it will take you about 20 minutes to reach the dam (walking) and another 10 to continue the trail towards the lake. Don't forget to bring some water, there is not a lot of shade around the trail and summer temperatures can be high.

Mémorial du Débarquement et de la Libération en Provence is a museum located on Mont Faron, overlooking Toulon, dedicated to commemorating the Allied landing of August 1944 and honoring the liberation of Provence. The museum houses an extensive collection of period objects and offers reenactments of operations and battlefields through maps, models, and photographs.
A hair rasing ride to the top of the mtn was definitely worth it....but it was a skinny road. Great views of the city and the harbor! Museum was very narrow at points but very interesting, mostly in French...it is a French museum though..., but it did have a fair amount of English, interesting info on the French resistanc as well. Also learned a lot about Operation Dragoon.

A fantastic little museum telling a fascinating lesser known story from ww2. The museum is flanked by an M4a1 (76) sherman, a 7.5cm german pak 38 AT gun and a 90mm AA gun. Inside a range of exhibits and plenty of information tell the story and help you to understand truly why the memorial is there.

Great museum with grand views of Toulon from its terrace! Would come again.
[SYSTEM101] — Google review
A really important memorial and museum to what is, for many British history buffs, a woefully under-studied campaign to capture the south of France, Operation Dragoon. Beautifully laid out with french and English explanations throughout, the visitor really benefits from learning about the background and build up right up to the operation itself with all aspects, including the prelim commando raids on the îles d'Hyere, the British/American Operation Rugby parachute landings and the beach assaults themselves. There is also copious detail on the very stubborn combat by French forces to retake Toulon itself and other 'Festungs' along that coast. The panoramic screen layout for the operation landings themselves is one of the best I've seen. Overall a very worthwhile museum/memorial visit to a campaign that deserves to be better known (it was, to an extent, a victim of its own success and flawlessness in terms of notoriety). My only complaint is that the gift shop is genuinely non-existent, and it would be relatively easy to make some memorabilia marked with Operation Dragoon. The Musee d'Marine down in Toulon city near the harbour manages to do this, so would recommend the management take note from them.

Fort du Mont Alban, located in Nice, France, is a well-preserved 16th-century military stronghold that offers stunning panoramic views of the sea and surrounding peaks. Although its interior is not open to the public, the fort's impressive French military architecture and historical significance make it a worthwhile visit.
The fort is closed on Sunday, but you can walk around the grounds and see the blinking light and cell phone tower that stands over Nice. There are nice views.

Superb octogonal fortress built at the top of the Mont Boron's hill 220 meters above sea level. It offers a superb panoramic view of the surroundings : the harbor of Villefranche-sur-Mer and the Italian borders on one side, the Bay of Nice and the Estérel on the other. In the middle of the 16th century, Nice was one of the essential points of the Savoy States Defense system in the face of Turkish invaders, allied with the French since 1543. The Rade de Villefranche-sur-Mer, because of its depth and sheltered situation, is the main commercial port of the region until the opening of the Port of Nice in the 18th century. It was also the Savoy War Port for four centuries. In 1557, the Fort du Mont-Alban was built on the orders of Emmanuel Philibert, Duke of Savoie. This massive work is designed as a complement to the fortresses of Nice and Villefranche-sur-Mer, and to control their connection: north of Mont Boron, the Fort du Mont-Alban flanks the Citadel Saint-Elme and the Dars of Villefranche-sur-Mer built at the same time, and protects the west of the city.

Located in the picturesque village of Belgentier, Église Paroissiale Notre Dame de l'Assomption is a stunning architectural gem built in 1616. Its distinctive Italian Renaissance-style dome led to its classification as a historical monument in the late 1980s. The terracotta-colored tower of this Baroque-style church rises prominently above St. Tropez and houses the bust of Saint Torpes for the annual procession.
It is a church located in the center of Saint Tropez and is the symbol of the village. But not the church in general, but more specifically its colorful bell tower! The bell tower dominates over the houses of Saint Tropez while arriving by boat and is visible from many points within the village. Around the church there are many restaurants and shops.

Great location right at the water. It is easy to walk anywhere from the hotel. The staff -- at reception, in the restaurant, the concierge -- are kind and professional and willing to help with anything. The restaurant has delicious food, and the bar has some interesting cocktails. My room was spacious and huge, spotlessly cleaned every day, beautifully decorated. It's also the small things, from the stationary in the room to the seal press with the initials of the actor/musician/artist in whose room you are staying. Wonderful hotel. We had lunch at the restaurant. The food is really nice, no complaints there. But when we were paying the bill, we checked with our very inexperienced waitress (she was clearly in training still) if it was indeed “Service Compris”, which we had noticed indicated on the menu. Immediately a more experienced waitress jumped on the situation and we were sort of bullied into adding an additional tip. We should have ignored her I suppose but it got unpleasant and we didn’t want to make a scene. Spoiled the meal a bit.

Place des Lices is a charming square in Saint-Tropez dating back to the early 1800s. It hosts a bustling market twice a week, offering an array of French country produce, from olive and lavender bags to fruits, vegetables, and goat cheese. The square is surrounded by luxury boutiques, cafes, and petanque courts where locals and visitors gather for games.
This was during the outdoor market in St Tropez. Amazing to see so many vendors, so we'll organized and an incredibly wide selection of offerings. Great place to shop and barter. Whether you need an outfit, shoes, jewelry, spices or food - you can find it here. Get there early when it starts on Tuesday to avoid the large number of people that can be overwhelming at times. The most amazing thing to see is how quickly all of the vendors break down all of the displays, coolers, cooking facilities and clothing. Before you know it, the park is pristine as if nothing ever happened. Definitely worth the time!

It's, OK... The sand is quite fine, not the finest grade, but ok. The beach is pretty crowded, but not so bad that you are on top of each other. The water (in late July) is a lovely temperature, refreshing but not at all uncomfortable. You can rent 2 chairs and a parasol for 40 euros(!) or you can slum it. There are bars a beer is 15 euros... Which is not unexpected, given the location. There is a big car park and, while the beach was pretty full, the car park had spaces, go down the far left corner, there is a short road to an extension car park that is closer to the beach. The car park is full of Ferrari etc... So if you are somewhat attractive, this could be the place to find the millionaire of your dreams....

Very busy market filled with local (and not so local!) products. It’s open every Tuesday and Saturday from 8am to 1pm in the heart of St Tropez. Food, fashion, home ware and antiques are a plenty. I would advise getting there early (starts at 8am) if anything to park more easily at Place des Lices or Foch Parking. Bring cash as some of the stalls take cash only. And you can’t always barter as it’s not very expensive product. Some stalls are also official brands selling their products. Can get very very crowded and hot.

An extraordinary market, a delight for fashion lovers and food lovers alike. However, be warned that the prices for clothes here are very high. You will be ripped off a lot. You can go to Aix en Provence and buy the same things for at least 20-30% less.

A charming little village on the top of a high hill. From an observation point in the village you can see across the Bay of St. Tropez all the way to the distant Alpes. A truly breathtaking view, surely one of the best views anywhere! Absolutely worth the trip on a clear day. There are several routes up the hill by car. From the St. Tropez and Port Grimaud side there is a relatively straight uphill climb straight into the village. From the Cogolin side the road becomes windy with hairpin bends. The road has barriers in the relevant places where there is a substantial drop. Drivers of fast cars love it. There is a substantial number of parking spaces at different levels below the top of the hill. Quite adequate during April but maybe not during the holiday season. There are bus services (bus times are given on Google Maps). At the top there are several well reputed restaurants that serve lunch with a view and dinner.

Port Grimaud, located in Grimaud in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region of France, is a charming and well-designed village with a style reminiscent of a medieval village. Designed by Francois Spoerry, it features little shops, restaurants, canals, and a beach within walking distance. The area is perfect to visit in October when there are very few tourists and the weather is still pleasant.
Port Grimaud is rightfully called the 'Venice of France'. Built in the 1960s, Port Grimaud consists of numerous canals, with many apartments having their own boat docks. In the center is a market square with a lively market and numerous restaurants, ice cream shops, and souvenir shops. There is also a nice sand beach, facing Saint Tropez. You can get there by car (big parking lot) or by ferry from Saint Tropez.
Beat S — Google review
A nice village for a short visit. We came here as a group. We had an excursion by boat for about 30 min. Such a ride cost about 6.- euro. The houses look really nice: each house is printed in a different colour. The houses represent private property so can be reached by boat by its owner. There are many cafeterias and restaurants. I visited one cafeteria: prices are high or I got overcharged. I advise it for a short visit.
Piripax P — Google review
Port Grimaud truly feels like a little Venice – a smaller, well-kept version of the famous city. Built in the 1960s, it’s full of charming canals, with many homes and apartments having their own boat docks. At the heart lies a central square, surrounded by waterways that you can explore by hiring an electric boat and cruising around at your own pace. The town is spotless and very well maintained. It’s a self-sufficient port with plenty of restaurants and a few shops. Ice cream lovers will be spoiled for choice, as there are many gelaterias – almost too many to pick from! Overall, it’s a lovely place to stroll through at leisure and can easily be seen in 1–2 hours. The only drawback is the parking. There’s a lot just across from the entrance, but it’s extremely expensive and the price increases every 15 minutes. Thankfully, the street parking nearby is more reasonably priced. I’ve taken off one star purely because of the outrageous parking costs.

In the summer this is a truly beautiful sight to see. Its less so about the castle and more so about whats around it. The ocean here is somehow four coloured, with a gradient spreading across it. It is turquoise at first and eventually becomes a dark deep blue on the horizon. Definitely worth to see if you’re coming to saint-Tropez. The water is also very clear here so there is no debris to obstruct the view.
