Skeabost House Hotel is an upscale waterfront hotel located north of Staffin, offering elegant rooms, a golf course, fishing opportunities, and fine dining. The boutique hotel features a unique design that blends Scottish and Southeast Asian influences, creating a distinct aesthetic personality in its suites and lodges. The on-site restaurant and bar offer stunning views across Loch Snizort to Torridon on the mainland.
Amazing stay at Skeabost! A quiet and beautiful location. Restaurant was delicious, make sure to make a reservation. John at the front desk went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay (with an upgrade!). I wish I could have stayed for longer.

Lovely property with great service, extremely comfortable beds and quiet rooms. We found the room to be a bit warm and utilized the plug in fan. Food at the restaurant and the breakfast were 10/10, quite delicious - especially the cod which was a dinner special. The in room tea was well stocked. Room and bathroom were a bit on the small size but have definitely had smaller in Europe. Water pressure and temperature were great. A quick drive to Portree.

My husband and I had a really nice meal whilst staying just up the road from the hotel. All of the staff were very warm and welcoming. We really enjoyed the smoked salmon starter, as well as the venison and haddock. Sticky toffee pudding was delicious as well! The ambience of the restaurant was lovely and our server was very attentive and nice! We would definitely come back when back on Skye in the future.

What an incredible experience in Skye at Skeabost. We chose to house us and our wedding guests as well as hold our reception here. The staff and service are top notch. The pricing is fair and reasonable and transparent. Oskar the wedding planner for the hotel is excellent and made everything go so smoothly. He's incredibly organized. The hotel staff made us and our guests feel so special. The breakfast spread is AMAZING. I still think about the bread and juices. Selection of cold and freshly made hot food. The location is perfectly placed in middle of Skye and the grounds of the property are gorgeous. We took a quick morning dip in the water and enjoyed the view.

Our stay at this hotel was very pleasant and comfortable. We stayed in the Gate House, which was charming and well maintained. The back door lock was a bit tricky, but holding the handle up before locking solved the issue. Everything was exceptionally clean, and the dinner was the best I’ve ever had at a hotel — outstanding food, excellent wine, and great service. It’s a perfect stop for an overnight stay, with beautiful surroundings that are ideal for a run and breathtaking views. While the bar had a limited cocktail selection, everything else more than made up for it. Overall, a wonderful experience.

Skeabost is part of the Sonas Collection of hotels. The word 'Sonas' translates to 'happiness' and this beautiful hotel will instill calm and tranquility should you choose to stay. The hotel is situated about 8 miles from Portree just off the mainroad to Greshornish and Dunvegan. It's pretty central and a great base to explore the beautiful Isle of Skye. The hotel is a 4-star botique and is fairly modern in its style and newly refurbished. This oak panelled walls, high ceilings, velvet cushions and bold art pieces. For us, it's the service that stands out most and the fact this small luxury group of hotels is privately owned and still run by the family who create it.

⚠️🔴RABISH BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! Watery coffee ☕️ the most rabish service I have ever had! I asked the young boy to make me a decaffeinated coffeeas it was late and hi did a normal coffee because the decaffeinated was in the other room. I asked again if it's decaffeinated and hi apologies but hi wasn't happy about it saying that is in the other room... The second coffee that hi broght was unfiltered and full of ground coffee, ofcourse I couldn't eat it and the man server a tall guy had a smile on and said hi was gone make another coffee, I refused again but hi insisted, the cofee that the tall server made was 💯/ colorful WATER !!! So I guess you've got to consume whatever they serve you atherwise you have to suffer the consequences! My husband taste it , hi wouldn't believe it and just drunk it down so that we can pay for the WATER and live for good. Yesterday 4th October was the second time in that hotel that says it is luxurious! What a disappointment, a nasty service...overall not even a star! So we have to suffer the consequences of the young boy anger and the man server because we didn't consume what they want us too A disaster, we will never come back, I regret paying that WATER and yes I received 20/discount for the water ....OMG! I drove nearly 2 hours to come back for a coffee and a meal with my husband at this RABISH HOTEL!

Nestled on the edge of Portree, the Cuillin Hills Hotel is a luxurious 4-star hotel offering stunning views of the Cuillins mountain range and Portree Bay. The hotel, originally a 200-year-old hunting lodge, boasts plush rooms with loch views and an upscale Scottish restaurant. Set on 15 acres of land, this comfortable manor provides spacious rooms with breathtaking bay views.
Outstanding service and facilities. Tucked away from town center in a serene setting with magnificent views and an incredibly attentive staff. We loved our stay here. Our premier sea view room was quite spacious and well appointed. You can't beat the location, the views and the level of service. I highly recommend.

Exceptional Stays ! From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. The warm welcome and thoughtful touches immediately made us feel at ease. The setting is beautiful, the decoration tasteful, and the bedding extremely comfortable. The common lounges are inviting and cozy, creating a great atmosphere. The staff were consistently pleasant and attentive throughout our stay. The restaurant was both enjoyable and delicious, making each meal a real pleasure. In short, not a single drawback — we will definitely be coming back a thrid time!

Stayed a few nights here and happy we indulged and got the sea view room, which is on the bottom floor so no lugging suitcases upstairs. Beautiful rooms and appointed well. The staff while friendly felt like they were ready for the season to be done. Especially those that stay on site and come for the breakfast run and then again at dinner… given how beautiful the hotel is I am sure they are very busy and understandable that its exhausting by October. Poor staff… We were not impressed with the restaurant unfortunately, heavy salting for our 2 dinners (maybe they used salted butter?) and no scallops to be found despite it being on the menu… the storm was the reason there were no scallops, is what we were told. 5 stars for the hotel room although its not inexpensive by any means £850 for 2 nights… a star docked for the restaurant food quality. BTW the bartenders were lovely and so attentive… the bar is open 24 hours a day so someone is always there tending the bar. Great for guests but those poor employees!

Stayed at the Cuillin Hills for 2 nights as apart of a tour group - my experience was excellent from beginning to end! Staff were very kind and courteous, willing to accommodate to my dietary needs as able. Rooms were absolutely spectacular, nice and big, very clean and quiet. The views alone are incredible, with a large window next to the dining area where you can watch the boats go by near the Portree Harbour. There is also a cozy little communal seating area to rest and relax outside of your room. Overall, and excellent and great stay, and would 100% stay again. Thank you to the incredible staff of Cullin Hills!

Fantastic boutique hotel a few minutes away from Portree town centre. Fay was extremely helpful with our booking and was very welcoming when we arrived. The hotel is very nice and cozy with a warm fire place in the lounge and plenty of quiet and comfortable sitting areas. Kyle at the bar was very friendly and gave us some great whisky and wine recommendations! Alex greeted us during dinner and breakfast and she was very attentive to us. Food was delicious and they bake the bread in-house. Unfortunately we did not catch the names of the rest of the staff but they were all really nice and very professional – we received plenty of recommendations from them as well. We look forward to coming back next time we are in Skye!

Absolutely stunning location and the hotel is just as beautiful. We stayed in the Garden Lodge, which is a separate building behind the main inn. It was unique and well appointed. And we still had great access to the hotel itself and all of its amenities. I can't speak to the rest of the rooms, but if they are anything like our room, I would highly recommend them. We also walked by the other suites, which sit separately as well and looked very nice. We will definitely plan to stay here again if/when we make it back to the Isle of Skye.

Exceedingly well run hotel. Service is excellent. Beautiful view. Restaurant is also excellent. Really great choice for elderly who cannot take stairs. Of all the hotels we stayed at, this was the nicest and accessibility was really good. We will be back.

Would happily, absolutely stay here again. We had a garden view room and we loved the massive towels warmed towel rack and massive tub which was a delight to return to after a chilly, late-October 10 min walk to the town or on the Scorrybreac trail. Staff were always friendly and warm. Breakfast was delicious. WiFi worked well as did casting from our devices to the tv in the room.

Nestled in a former 1830s mountaineer's lodge, Sligachan Hotel offers classic rooms and a laid-back restaurant and bar. Situated near Skye's famous disused bridge, the hotel provides budget-friendly accommodation with easy access to the Cuillins for trekkers. Nature travelers will appreciate the convenient location, good food, and stunning views at an affordable price. The clean basic rooms come with all necessities including nice toiletries.
Really just incredible stay. Room was prepared with romance, clean bathroom, comp snacks. The restaurant bar in the evening gave us so much care and warmth regarding our engagement. Marathi was so sweet on the phone and when we arrived, as were the rest of the staff. A perfect place to start and end our trip to the Fairy Pools. Mountain outline just extraordinary.

Great room, great location. The shower and bath was great, the food at the restaurant was nice. Big and delicious breakfast in the morning. The most important thing was that I lost an earring that day, and the staff helped me find it and helped to post it for me. Great appreciation to the staff!

Fantastic location. Comfortable room with excellent bed. Clean fresh bathroom. Friendly helpful staff. Very welcoming. Lots of parking. Good restaurant. Wonderful.
Katherine L — Google review
I didn’t stay here but popped in to ask if they served non-residents a cup of tea (just for one person). I waited at the front desk for around 10 minutes before poking my head into what looked like the breakfast room to ask a waitress if I could buy a cup of tea to take away, or perhaps sit in the reception area while I waited for my bus. She abruptly replied, “We’re closed,” and walked off without another word. Her attitude was quite frankly rude. Definitely won’t be returning — even when they are “open.”
Alix J — Google review
Checked into a lovely updated room, lots of great tea caddy options and great shower. But quite creaky and noisy from the other rooms. The blonde haired reception staff was sooo friendly and really welcoming...the other unfortunately not so much. Lovely bar and restaurant attached to the hotel.

Had a fantastic stay. Staff and dining was superb. Room was very comfortable and the overall vibe of this hotel was just lovely. Directly across from the Sligachan bridge and in the heart of the Cullin Hills. Gorgeous.

Nestled on Skye's west coast, Toravaig House Hotel offers a peaceful and contemporary retreat with just nine elegant rooms. The hotel features an award-winning restaurant specializing in seafood, locally sourced and prepared with innovation and skill. Guests can enjoy cozy lounges with log fires, warm hospitality from the manager Silke, and delicious breakfasts served by friendly staff like Marie and Rachael.
Our room was amazing with the most comfortable bed I've had in scotland by far. We paid €90 a night for our room (#1) which was a standard double room. It was well worth it for bed, the high pressure shower and the large bathtub rear was most appreciated after a day of hiking. The service was great and the scottish breakfast was delicious. The only thing I would not recommend is getting the yogurt and Granola breakfast. It was really good but to charge the same price for that as for the scottish breakfast is a bit silly. I'd go back and highly recommend it for sure. It was a lovely stay but next time I'd get full breakfast for the price:)
Shannon B — Google review
Great location for taking day trips around the Isle of Skye. The personnel working were incredibly personable and accomodating. Meals were outstanding, especially the granola! Rooms gave a boutique hotel aesthetic and had everything you could need in them. Would love to visit again in the future!

We stayed at Toravaig house for 2 nights while we were in the Isle of Skye and it was a wonderful experience. The room was very cute with a nice bathroom and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The staff was exceptional, specifically Mia! We told her we planned to leave very early the morning of checkout to hike the Storr and she offered to leave packed lunches for us to take in the morning, and she left us a lovely note as well. We would definitely stay here again!
Kendra E — Google review
Matt, Laura & Mia are great! We stayed two nights while we were on the isle. Polite and kind as well as personable. Easy to talk to. Breakfast was great and the drinks were too! A small request was brought to their attention and they handled it perfectly. Thank you all for such a great experience!

Wonderful stay. We had gotten in late and using the booking app we were able to update the hotel on our change in arrival and they helped advise about dinner, which was at Duisdale and was lovely. Breakfast at the hotel in the morning was very good and peaceful. Enjoyed our quick stay and wished we had been able to stay and relax longer.
Hanna K — Google review
Unfortunately, our stay wasn’t as great as some of the other reviews. To start - the service was below average. The staff seemed to be annoyed serving us breakfast in the morning. I understand that they may be understaffed(?) and that there was a big group staying at Toravig, but there was no need for attitude. Also, it may seem small but when we arrived back at the hotel after our days out, we weren’t greeted by the reception. Just shows a lack of hospitality. To add - forget about anyone answering the phone at reception in the morning. They’re too busy doubling as servers in the restaurant. We stayed in the sea view Torabhaig room. It was a cozy little room but the shower was lined with dirty grout. The shower-head was massive, which would be nice if there was enough room. I am 5’6”, 110lbs and I felt claustrophobic. One great thing about the room was the mattress. It was plush and allowed for a great night of sleep. Overall, would I stay here again? Probably not. If the service was top notch, it’d be a different story.
Sylvia B — Google review
Come on guys. I booked several weeks ago. We drove all the way down there and it was closed for off season. Why was I even able to book it? They told me they tried to call me a few days ago.. Im in a foreign country with an American phone number. No email. They said they switched my reservation to another hotel over an hour away. They put me in a really tough situation trying to find another hotel last minute and refused to pay the difference. Not cool at all. Not how to run a business.

Restaurant
Nestled in the northwest of the island, The Three Chimneys at Colbost is a popular destination restaurant offering upscale suites with 2-person tubs, TVs, and stunning loch views. The restaurant has garnered numerous awards and accolades for its exceptional cuisine featuring Skye produce. Meanwhile, The House Over-by, located north of Staffin, offers a boutique hotel experience with uniquely designed suites and lodges that exude an aesthetic blending Scottish charm with Southeast Asian influences.
My wife and I spent a night at The 3 Chimneys for her birthday and it was such a treat, we both loved it. My wife is a foodie so she was super keen to try one of the best restaurants in Scotland and was not disappointed. The food was AMAZIN! What stands out tho are the staff, especially Sheila who welcomed us when we arrived and looked after us during our stay. She was informal, fun, obviously passionate about the Chimney's and Skye and a real delight to be welcomed in by. I can't remember the name of our waitress on the evening but she was the perfect blend of knowledgable and informal, able to help us have fun while answering any questions about the food or wine we had - tremendous. The room was lovely, one of the better rooms in boutique hotels that we have stayed in, plenty of space and views while a touch of luxury in the bathroom. Another treat-tick The only downside was the tip. I'm happy to tip, but I didn't notice there was a service charge included on the bill (my own fault as I didn't have my glasses when I was settling up). I was then offered (and paid) an additional service charge on the card machine. This was slightly off I felt. But the staff were so lovely that it has certainly not spoiled my experience and would (and have) recommend the 3 Chimneys to friends and family as a destination.
Richard F — Google review
We’ve dined at Three Chimneys several times over the years and have always held it in high regard for its creativity, attention to detail, and memorable flavors. Unfortunately, our most recent visit fell short of expectations. The hallmark complexity and excitement we’ve come to associate with their dishes seemed absent this time. For a restaurant of this caliber, the lack of refinement was surprising. Since I see the owners are actively engaging with feedback, I’d like to share a few specific observations: - The vegetarian menu lacked descriptions, which made it difficult to anticipate or get excited about the dishes. - The wine pairing menu was not provided initially—we had to request it—and there was no pairing list available for the vegetarian options. - The vegetarian offerings themselves felt uninspired and did not reflect the creativity we’ve seen in the past. - The duck was served too rare for our taste. We left it uneaten, informed the waitress, but were not offered an alternative. (For context, we’ve dined at fine establishments globally and are familiar with how duck is typically prepared.) - At one point, we genuinely wondered if frozen peas had been used in a couple of dishes. - The final dessert’s flavor profile was unbalanced—the sauce and cherries overwhelmed the chocolate, leaving it flat and lacking depth. Currently, the experience doesn’t justify the premium pricing. That said, we love the location and have had many wonderful meals here in the past. We sincerely hope this feedback is helpful, and that the restaurant returns to the high standards that once made it so special or adjusts pricing to reflect quality.
Jessica M — Google review
The food was beautifully cooked, fresh and flavoursome. The presentation of dishes was well thought out and the service and wine pairings were excellent. Having had the experience of dining in this way in several other restaurants however, I would have to say the menu was safe, it didn't push any boundaries and wasn't exceptional in the way other fine dining restaurants I have been to were. The food did not excite or amaze. What did amaze was the price, $950 for 2 and only one of us did the standard wine flight.I am all for paying for creativity, but this was I thought exorbitant for the meal. Still, to be honest, it matches the cost of pretty much everything on Skye. If I had to offer any advice it would be, look to what other establishments across the world are doing in this space and maybe push some boundaries. Try CTC gastronomy in Athens or EXP in the Hunter Valley in Australia. They have similar philosophies, but are much more adventurous and more reasonably priced.
Catrina K — Google review
We spent two fabulous nights with you all and can't speak highly enough of every aspect. From the warm welcome and care from Sheila, the gorgeous and well appointed room to the spectacular dinner (both nights). In the restaurant we were so well looked after by Brandon on our first night and by Aiden on our second. It's a beautiful spot, cozy for dinner and just as cozy for breakfast. Maria also took great care of us and our questions on the accommodation side of things. We were thrilled to have stayed with you and had the BEST experience, thank you!

Absolutely superb! The Three Chimneys on the Isle of Skye is a true culinary gem. From the moment we stepped in, the warmth and charm were palpable. We had the privilege to be a part of the kitchen table. Every dish was a celebration of seasonality and locality, showcasing the incredible produce of Skye and Scotland. The menu is a testament to fresh, quality ingredients, expertly prepared. And the wine list! A truly impressive and thoughtful selection that perfectly complemented our meal. We had an unforgettable experience and cannot wait to return. Five stars aren't enough!

I stayed with my wife at the Three Chimneys for two nights. The location, the room, the restaurant were all outstanding. What really made our visit exceptional was the team. To a man every person was naturally kind, professional, yet relaxed and clearly focused on making sure we had a great time. One person who really stood out was Sheila. Everyone was amazing, but Sheila was another level. Exceptional customer service. Can’t wait to come back!

We had the most amazing stay and dinner at this wonderful location!! The team were all so accommodating and welcoming! Our room was absolutely incredible with a lovely view! The dinner experience was the best thing we have done on our honeymoon and would highly recommend!! Thanks again for having us!!! A place we will remember forever!

We loved every minute of our time at The Three Chimneys. Even the rain and mist did nothing to spoil it. Above all else, the welcome was warm, easy going and friendly from staff who were always helpful and interested in both what we had to say and what service they might offer us. The fine dining was truly delicious and was served by staff who were knowledgeable and always on hand but without being invasive. The rooms were clean, warm, stylish and very comfortable. If it were possible, I would stay longer and we will definitely return at our earliest opportunity. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay with you.

Nestled on the southern shores of Skye, Kinloch Lodge is a stylish hotel housed in a former 16th-century hunting lodge. The remote location offers breathtaking views and a truly tranquil atmosphere, making it an ideal retreat for travelers seeking seclusion. The property boasts elegant rooms with loch views and cozy public spaces featuring open fires. Guests can indulge in upscale dining at the on-site restaurant helmed by renowned chef Claire Macdonald.
Phenomenal location- just at the bank of Loch Nadal with uninterrupted views of the water and the Scottish Highlands- you need a car to get around. Delicious food- nice variety of cocktails and drinks; the menu changes everyday and includes a vegetarian option- the dishes are seasonal in keeping with the ethos of the place- they were very accommodating of my vegetarian specifications and went out of their way to make sure I was well fed. Fantastic service - this is such a rarity in the UK and makes all the difference. The staff were cheerful, approachable and helpful throughout our stay. Isabella and her team believe in making you feel loved and looked after and that is precisely how we felt. We will definitely be back- perhaps in the winter to catch the aurora!

Truly a magical, beautiful place! Isabella MacDonald is a most gracious and friendly innkeeper supported by an amazing team. Chef Jordan, the food was impeccable! Absolutely delicious and inspired! Rachel, thank you for welcoming us so warmly. The rest of the team - Sam, Tilly, Luke, Mae, Clara, Tina, and Danny - were so very attentive and exceptional. My wife and I could not have been more pleased with every little thing at Kinloch Lodge. We give it our highest recommendation!
Kurt S — Google review
Our arrival at this amazing place was full of surprises . We were upgraded to a suite with the most magical view ever, we are thankful for that and the pleasure we had waking up to such a delightful sight every morning will bring us joy for a long time . There is however space for improvement in the service. It felt a bit like “eat drink and leave”. As we asked to be introduced to the vast choice of whiskey displayed in the bar cabinet, the passion and spontaneous pleasure of serving the guest came amiss . Nobody was rude, but rather aloof. The same vibe spread across the dining area . Before having taken a seat at the table, we were asked about choosing between fizzy or plain water. Once more, hurry up !!! The restaurant proudly claims 2 Michelin stars and the price tag attached to it matches the promise. Well, sadly our expectations weren’t met. It felt as if the Michelin awarded chef had left without notice and that the chef given the unexpected responsibility of taking over was doing his best. Our taste buds remained unsolicited. The beauty of the hotel sets the benchmark very high, but the rest didn’t come close to the attention to detail we’re accustomed to when staying at other luxury hotels all over Scotland. At the end it’s people that make difference, the attitude that makes you wish to come back.
Yvan C — Google review
What an incredible hotel! We had a fantastic stay here, everything about this place is above and beyond, from the food to the service where they were extremely understanding for my wife’s morning sickness. We also loved the fact about how secluded the location was, for some this may not be great if you don’t like driving a lot to the main attractions Skye in the north.

We saw the sign and made the best turn in recent memory. Lovely tapas choices for lunch with an extensive wine list. Staff made sure that the gluten free diner was aware which dish she could eat. The Skye scallops were a thing of beauty. An absolutely stunning lunch experience with a gorgeous view and food. Would drive a long way to repeat the experience.

Unfortunately we didn’t get to stay here but we did come around for drinks and dinner! The ambiance was so cozy and romantic and the food was absolutely delicious. We look forward to coming back in the future to try their Sunday roast!

A former hunting lodge turned into beautiful and relaxing inn. Great food and service. Beautiful but remote location overlooking the loch. A bit pricey.

Stayed here with my mum a few weeks ago, it was a lovely experience. We were greeted and given a bit of history about the lodge when we arrived which was a nice touch. The room was great with a nice view out towards the water. Dinner/breakfast was lovely, as a pescatarian it was nice to have a good selection to choose from!

Island
Skye is a popular Scottish island known for its charming fishing village, rugged landscapes, and historic castles. The island offers a challenging seven-day hike along high sea-cliffs and mountain ridges, showcasing the diverse scenery and cultural heritage of Skye. It's recommended to visit from June to September for better weather conditions, but booking accommodations during this time can be difficult and expensive. April, May, and October are also good months to visit with potentially favorable weather and easier bookings.
By far my most favorite place ever to have visited. The absolute beauty and splendor of the entire island is amazing. The people are so genuine and kind. It is an absolute delight to visit this place. But I will give you fair warning, because some of the areas are very remote, you will find that some roadways arenarrow, only fitting one car with multiple passing areas along the way. This is quite common in some popular spots within Skye. Nothing to worry too much about, but definitely something to keep in mind.
David H — Google review
I think about Skye more than I should. Not just the place though the cliffs, the silence, the way the light moved will stay with me forever. But the feeling. The way everything slowed down when I was there. The way I slowed down. It felt like something I didn’t know I was searching for until I found it. Effortless, grounding, a kind of stillness that reached right through me. I left, but I didn’t really leave. Something of me stayed behind. And something of it came with me. Sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever stop missing it or her. But maybe some things aren’t meant to be forgotten. Just remembered, gently, again and again.

Wow, what a rush! We had just a couple of days on the island, but it was definitely worth it. Beautiful landscape, great drives, good food all lent themselves to making us want to come back. You definitely want more time to explore, I'd say give yourself at least a week. You'll love the local shops, the great food, and the friendly people. And even on this island just off the coast of Scotland, things were pretty wheelchair accessible. Yes, sometimes shops had stairs into them, or trails were a bit rough, but overall, my wife was able to get around in her power wheelchair just fine. I think the next time we stop by, we'll bring electric socks :).

Absolutely beautiful and must see. The town is small so booking restaurant for dinner is recommended before coming back from sightseeing. Pre-book hotel in advance as it gets full fast. It's best to book a tour to see so the sites at the bus is slower and doesn't stop at so spots.
Casting S — Google review
The isle of Skye was stunningly beautiful! We avoided all the “Instagram famous” sports and took advice from the locals on where to go and what to do instead. We really enjoyed driving around and touring the island! We stayed on the west side of the island which is far less busy with tourists than the east side and we much preferred it that way! Tons of small towns and villages to visit, and incredibly fresh seafood all over the place!
Stix N — Google review
The Isle of sky has dramatic scenery and some wonderful locations to walk as well as the world famous Talisker distillery. While it has a great main road to the capital and other main roads around the island are relatively well kept when you get off the beaten track you’re into single track roads with passing places and are met by many caravans as well as camper vans. Not to say that the island is always full of tourists but you can always find a quiet spot to enjoy the surrounding scenery.
Simon ( — Google review
How do you review an entire island? This was a day trip for us and what a day trip it was. I think driving anywhere in the Scottish Highlands is absolutely breathtaking...because of the scenery and because of the roads! There are few places that I have ever been to that are nearly unspoiled by man. This is one of them. There are small houses, farms and communities on the island, but there are only a couple of places that are what you could consider "developed". What that means is there are miles of rolling hills, high peaks, valleys, lochs, and trees. You can see for miles. Sheep and highland cows roam free. Ancient buildings suddenly appear out of nowhere, then quickly disappear into the tall grass. Ruins left behind by ancient civilizations dot the landscape. It is hard to imagine that anything we build today will still be around in 2400 years. We went in March, before spring. It was beautiful. I can only imagine what it will look like during the summer of fall.

Nestled in the charming village of Edinbane, Edinbane Lodge is a historic culinary destination housed in a 16th-century hunting lodge. The restaurant offers an elevated dining experience featuring gourmet British bistro fare with a focus on traditional Scottish flavors and innovative cooking techniques. The menu showcases the island's rich culinary heritage, offering delectable dishes such as smoked salmon, crab bisque, and roasted monkfish.
This was a delicious and unique tasting menu for us out-of-towners. It truly was “A taste of Skye.” We enjoyed the diversity and freshness of each dish, and at the end we were fully satiated. We also really appreciated that they source local ingredients, and tell you where everything is from. It was also a very clean and comfortable environment inside the restaurant, not uptight or stuffy. Chef was kind and great to meet. We are very happy we made this reservation!

Completely blown away by this fine dining experience, just exceptional. Enjoyed the tasting menu for a birthday celebration. From the first moment we arrived and were greeted by staff to the moment we left the whole experience was simply outstanding. The service from all members of staff was flawless, they really made us feel special and took the time to explain every details of each course that was served to us. I really don’t have words to describe the food, it was beyond outstanding which doesn’t even come close to doing it justice. From the presentation and taste to the connection with Skye was really something very very special. Every single course was a mouth watering adventure of which we have never experienced before, it was simply delicious and stunning. It is no exaggeration to say that Calum is a culinary genius. The food he presented is obviously borne from a true love of Skye ingredients but taken to a level of which is world class. I cannot stress enough the exceptional standard of food which Calum is producing. As it was a birthday celebration we were also presented with a complimentary glass of champagne, birthday card from the team and a special birthday treat at the end of the meal. This was a lovely, thoughtful touch which just displays the exceptional service provided to guests. This place is a must visit if you are on Skye. It is quite simply outstanding and the finest restaurant we have ever visited. A huge thank you to Calum and the whole team for making my birthday one which I will never forget. We will definitely be back.

From the very first moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcome – almost like coming home. The warm atmosphere, the passion for exceptional food, and the attention to every little detail made the evening truly special. You can feel that everyone at Edinbane Lodge shares the same philosophy and deep love for what they do. It was an absolute pleasure to meet Calum Montgomery in person and to experience his culinary vision through The Taste of Skye menu. Each course told a story of the island – rooted in local produce, inspired by nature, and beautifully presented. Every dish was both creative and honest, a true reflection of Skye’s land and sea. Simply outstanding! One of the absolute highlights of the evening was a dessert unlike anything we had experienced before – Falasgair, delicately sprayed with the smokiest whisky of the island, nostalgically presented from a vintage perfume bottle. The combination was surprising, elegant, and deeply harmonious – a flavour so unique it’s almost impossible to describe. Moments like this make dining at Edinbane Lodge one of a kind. The service team deserves the highest praise as well – professional, passionate, and genuinely kind. Their knowledge, care, and perfect timing made the experience seamless from start to finish. Edinbane Lodge isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a place that tells the story of Skye through flavour, craftsmanship, and heart. An unforgettable evening and a true must-visit when exploring the Isle of Skye!

Okay I gave the restaurant 4 stars but actually about 3.5. Food: in general good, great start with the three appetizers, great presentation, fascinating taste. The beef tartare is the best I’ve had, the oyster is almost refreshing! Those definitely opened my appetite. But then the mains all feel very mediocre. The sauce for the oyster was rich, lobster was underwhelming, steak dish was a little over seasoned. Then 3 dessert to wrap up, at this point I feel like I’m gonna be in a sugar coma. Service/Setting: Nothing special, nothing outstanding. I was not happy they put my raincoat and my partner’s raincoats in one hanger, are you really just that short of hangers? Raincoats are both wet! And oh man this meal was 2.5hrs long my butt was sore from sitting so long and feels like a food marathon. £150 per person which I doubt if this is really worthy base on the food and service. With this price I don’t expect perfection but definitely better than this. Overall 3.5/5

We loved our dinner and stay at Edinbane Lodge. A real luxury experience in a romantic setting. Beautifully furnished room with a super-comfy Super-King bed and a riverside patio for relaxing in the evening. We had the tasting menu which was simply superb. One of the best meals we've had anywhere and truly deserving of a Michelin Star.

We went to the lodge for their restaurant for a nice meal during our stay in Skye. It was very impressive how well we ate thinking how remote, in comparison, this location is to "civilization". An incredible dining experience and one of the highlights of our trip to Scotland. Everything from the moment you walk in the door to the moment you leave is an example of good service. Hosts were great, servers were great, and interactions with other staff were great. Every single person we interacted with was a delight. Thankfully, the food matched the service also. We had the current set menu, I ended up ordering the lobster starter and my wife the scallop dish. I had read that these scallops were one of the chef's signature dishes, and it shows. They were incredible. Likely the best scallops I have had, ever. Mains were also great. I had venison two-ways, which had lots of flavors and great contrasts in the dish itself. A delight to try. For dessert I ordered the chocolate choice, and while it was excellent, it wasn't as much a star of the night as the starters and mains were. Still closed out the meal very well. A great special night in Skye. Highly recommended for any and all special occasions.

Only ate at the restaurant, did not actually stay at the lodge. The food was incredible! Well worth the drive in from Portree and would do it again! They were able to accommodate my celiac and gluten free with ease and i did not feel like i missed out on any of the menu. 10/10 would recommend!

We weren't quite sure what to expect but our expectations were more than met. Very friendly and helpful staff all around (from check in personnel, to restaurant staff to super kind manager). Nice and clean room. Wonderful location on Sleat and to top it all off, great dinner and breakfast. Yes, it has its price, but they also deliver and if walking through their lovely garden doesn't put a huge smile on your face, what does?

Stopped by for lunch. Beautiful hotel, beautiful gardens and gorgeous views. The lunch was perfect, made with quality ingredients. We had the soup and the treacle bannock, then the charcuterie board, finished off with a warm scone jam and cream (all delicious)The service was attentive and polite. Vishnu and Katie served us impeccably. Vishnu offered information re the history of the house and gardens and shared the fact that the garden can now supply some ingredients to the kitchen, which was all very interesting to hear. He was extremely pleasant and informative. Loved our visit and can't wait to return

The Hotel Manager is excellent, as is the Barman. The room was large and had its own parking space, it was super for a family. The decor was a little tired but you can see the investment sneaking in slowly. Breakfast cooked to order was delicious, the buffet wasn't great and lacked quality produce one would expect. The location is good for the south of Skye, no view from the Master Suite though.

Stopped in for 3-course dinner & drinks. Food and service were impeccable, left nothing for want. And then after our dinner, we were treated to a fireside talk by an isle of skye author who spoke to us about the lore of the lands. It was magic.

What a wonderful hotel discovery on the Isle of Skye. We traveled the entire island and started the journey by taking the ferry from Mallaig to Armadale (southeast Skye). The ferry ride was a delight and the crew at the Armadale station took great care of us. A short 15 min walk away is the Armadale Castle & Gardens which I recommend for getting your land legs back. The history center here is wonderful. A short drive or taxi away is Duisdale House. We were able to secure the last available reservation at this gem. Our room was small because it was the last one, but it was nicely furnished, great bed and bath products. The best part of the hotel are the staff. Hotel Director, Matt, has created a place you feel cared for and valued whether you come for a stay or a meal. All of the meals here were exceptional. Haven eaten at some of the Michelin rated spots on the island, I can say that our dinners here were impressive and outshined some of the * rated meals that can be overpriced and over designed. If you are on Skye and can book a stay or a meal, Duisdale House and Matt’s team will certainly take great care of you and do all they can to ensure you want to return.

We had a lovely stay here at the end of March, as a layover on our way to North Uist. The evening staff were fantastic and truly bent over backwards to make sure our experience was the very best it could be. There are no vegan options on any of the menus and we are both vegan. However, if you let them know in advance you will be very well looked after. We had our own vegan menu the night of our stay which was well thought out, perfectly executed and delicious! The only qualm we have is paying the same for dishes of vegetables as those eating venison etc.. but I’m sure this is in hand. The wine and drinks menu needs some work in relation to vegan options and these should be clearly marked to make the customers and staff lives easier. Special mentions go to : Vishnu, Clara, George & Neil Breakfast was an entirely different experience. This may have had something to do with the owner paying a visit and the stress levels of the staff being raised, which we understand, but it was an omnishambles. We booked the night before for a table and arrived in plenty of time, however, the staff appeared distracted and we felt rushed. Items were forgotten, we were given dairy milk twice - despite saying we were vegan and having a vegan breakfast - which wasn’t great btw. I’d also asked whether the vegetarian haggis was vegan and got the answer after I’d finished the rest of my breakfast - so it went to waste Ps it is vegan by ingredient On the whole a fabulous place that we’d recommend to vegans, vegetarians and carnivores & we’d definitely visit again. Their hearts in the right place but there’s work to be done.

I had taken my best friend on a surprise road trip from Edinburgh to Isle of Skye and this hotel was an amazing find ! We had a beautifully calm and peaceful stay at the Flodigarry Hotel. The atmosphere was still and serene—just what we needed. What truly stood out was the outstanding service. The staff went out of their way to accommodate my friend’s dietary needs, preparing delicious vegetarian meals completely free of eggs. They even arranged an eggless cake, which was lovely. We had breakfast and dinner both the days we stayed there and it was outstanding especially the dinners ! Our room was charming and comfortable—perfect for two. The only drawback was the low bathroom ceiling, which meant I had to sit to shower (something to be aware of if you’re tall or broad-shouldered). I had booked the cottage. Still, this didn’t take away from the overall experience. A memorable stay in a breathtaking setting with truly caring hospitality. Highly recommended if you’re looking for quiet luxury and personalised attention.

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Flodigarry Hotel on the Isle of Skye, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality. The staff were not only attentive but also took the time to have real conversations, which made our stay feel incredibly personal and welcoming. The food was nothing short of exquisite — every meal was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. It was a true highlight of our stay and showcased the best of local Scottish ingredients. And of course, the views… breathtaking doesn’t even begin to cover them. Surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of Skye, the hotel offers stunning panoramas that make you pause and appreciate the beauty of Scotland. The Flodigarry Hotel combines charm, comfort, and authenticity in a way that is rare to find. We can’t recommend it highly enough and are already looking forward to returning one day.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you’re visiting the Isle of Skye, The Flodigarry Hotel is an absolute must. Perched above the rugged coastline with sweeping views that feel almost too beautiful to be real, this place delivers the perfect Highland dining experience — and then some. We stopped in for lunch and were completely blown away. The ploughman’s lunch was generous, fresh, and full of flavour — a perfect balance of local ingredients served with real care and attention. And the baked Brie? Simply unforgettable: rich, creamy, and indulgent without being heavy, it’s the kind of dish you’ll be dreaming about long after you leave. What really elevates the whole experience, though, is the service and ambience. Warm, welcoming staff who clearly care about what they do, paired with a relaxed, elegant atmosphere and breathtaking views across the sea — it’s everything you hope for in a Highland escape. Whether you’re exploring Skye for a day or a week, make sure The Flodigarry Hotel is on your list. It’s more than a meal — it’s a highlight of the island.

One of the most beautiful views I have ever seen in a hotel room! We stayed here recently for 2 nights in the Signature Master Suite. From the moment I stepped into the room, I couldn't take my eyes off the view. The pictures on their website don't do it justice. It was absolutely stunning! The only reason I didn't give the room 5 stars was the bathroom. It wasn't very functional with absolutely no place to put any of your toiletries. Other than that, our stay was amazing and I would highly recommend! The food at the restaurant was delicious, the staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating, especially to my food allergies. The property was peaceful and quiet. I would definitely stay here again!

Myself and my partner had a very idyllic 3 night stay in the Flodiarray Hotel. We loved the vintage styling of the rooms, yet had all the modern conveniences like the smart tv and coffee maker. The food was exceptional. The flavour and quality of each meal, there are no words. Would be any foodies dream. The location is perfect for taking in the wilds of Scotland/Skye. It was a breathtaking location. Well suited for hiking. Big thanks to all the staff of the hotel for being so welcoming and making our stay so memorable.

What a wonderful find the flodigarry hotel was. Set in the hill facing the sea the views were gorgeous. The staff were just amazing and the food was perfect. The room was very spacious with a huge shower and a bed that felt like I'd died and gone to heaven. Amazing all round. A perfect night off the road. I'd definitely stay again if travelling to the Isle of Skye.

My daughter was on holiday from St Andrews University so I went over for the week. We were very impressed with the Flodigarry Hotel. The place is beautifully situated perched overlooking the sea with a mature forest as a back drop. The people who work there are all quite friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and well kept. The old school bathroom fixtures were fun. The bar was one of the classiest I'd been in in a while. Skye IPA on tap was excellent and I liked the wood stove near our table. My only nit would be that the duvet on the twin beds were tiny! We asked for larger ones and they gladly accommodated us. If I ever go back, I'll surely stay here again.

Comfortable hotel overall in a nice location. We did not like the way they do breakfast. It is not available between a certain window of hours - you have to pre-book a time. Although they normally start serving breakfast at 8, the earliest time they had available was 8:45 which we didn’t want to do as we wanted to leave the hotel at that time. They made us a packed lunch because we skipped breakfast which was very nice, but we weren’t crazy about it.

I recommend anyone looking for an absolute exquisite meal to try the ribeye. The meat couldn’t have been cooked at a more perfect medium-rare while having a beautiful charred exterior and retaining amazing flavors and I’m not buttering it up. Marmalade Hotel is a refined establishment housed in a 19th-century Georgian building that has been recently renovated to a high standard. The hotel boasts mature gardens with stunning views of Portree village, the loch, and the Cuillin Mountains. Guests can dine at the chic restaurant either indoors or outside in the beautiful gardens. The hotel's location offers both seclusion and proximity to downtown Portree, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.
We had a great stay at this hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable. As others have commented, the staffing appears to be an issue at the restaurant and bar,. However, that being said, the young men working there hustled and provided excellent service. In particular Sean is a wonderful young man who went above and beyond to ensure great service with a ready smile. It is a short walk into Portree down the hill and provided a quiet room for sleep. I can highly recommend the food, the dinner and breakfast were both quite good with a nice menu selection.

We loved our time at Marmalade hotel in Portree. Beautiful view from our window, very comfortable room and spotlessly clean. The breakfast and team were lovely, even though they had to attend to some very demanding guests (not us!) they remained unfazed. Great job guys! The easy walk down to the little village and square for some souvenir shops. Loved it!

The Marmalade was a great place to stay in the highlands. It is situated on a quiet hill that is only a short walk into town. Storr, the Quiraing, and other outdoor activities all within 45 mins of the Marmalade. Yes, the rooms can be on the expensive side but they are pretty spacious and there is a full bar, a full restaurant, and a sauna all on hotel grounds.
Sean C — Google review
The Marmalade Hotel is in a prime location near downtown Portree, which seems to be the main justification for the very steep price—nearly $700 per night during our stay. While the rooms were clean and comfortable, they didn’t quite live up to the luxury price tag. Ours was located at the end of the hall, and although we had a window, the view was mostly blocked by a large tree. On the positive side, the breakfast was lovely—fresh, well-prepared, and served in a pleasant setting. Overall, we enjoyed our time in Portree, but given the cost, we expected a bit more in terms of amenities, service, or room quality.

Overall a Pleasant Stay, But a Few Amenities Missed the Mark I recently stayed here and overall had a great experience — the rooms were clean and comfortable and the atmosphere was relaxing. However, a couple of things did fall short. The sauna was unfortunately out of service during my visit, which was disappointing as it was one of the main reasons I booked this property. Additionally, the coffee machine in the relaxation room was broken, which took away from the post-spa experience. The *night receptionist*was also bit hesitant to let us go to the relaxation room citing rules that only sauna goers can use the relaxation room. Upon being insisted that sauna was anyways not working she finally let us go to the relaxation room. *****The soap caddy in the shower was broken ******. They could have fixed it if they are charging a premium rate of 500 GBP per night. That said, the rest of the facilities were well-maintained and I appreciated the quiet, restful vibe of the hotel. If those small issues were addressed, it would easily be a five-star stay.

Mixed Review - needs some serious leadership / management. To start with the positives, the room was lovely and bed super comfy. The sheets were gorgeous, and well equipped and clean. Decor throughout was nice. However, there are many shortfalls. Only small things, but they really made a negative impact. First impression of outside space and parking was very poor. Looked run down and not great signage. Reception greeting / check in was strange, disengaged staff and not particularly helpful. The reception area was messy and it stayed like that for the full 3 day stay. There was a delivery of boxes that was there when we arrived and they weren't moved. The bar / lounge was unwelcoming and not clear how to relax or get a drink. The restaurant was OK, breakfast 1 morning was nice the 2nd morning, below par. Dinner OK - but the staff were obviously disengaged and poorly trained. 2 young girl waitresses spent about an hour flirting with the bar man, when they could have been clearing up, prepping for the next day etc. They also seemed short staffed in all areas. Restaurant had no ambience. Overall, poor attention to detail - very dead flowers with stagnant water in restaurant, floors / rugs needed a good clean, empty diffusers, nowhere to dry your hands in the reception WCs....It seemed overall that it was really lacking a strong leader / manager to make sure everything is up to scratch and to keep all the staff accountable and high standards throughout. We paid £800 for 2 nights, definitely not worth that. The fact that there are no replies to any recent Google Reviews reflects their lack of interest in maintaining standards. Not sure there is a long term future if they don't start making an effort unfortunately.

I stayed at the Marmalade Hotel while visiting the Isle of Skye and loved the hotel. The room was spacious, well maintained, and clean. The hotel has daily housekeeping, a very friendly front desk, and the included breakfast is quite good. The hotel also has free onsite parking and we never had an issue parking the car at the hotel. The hotel is about a 5 min walk from the main Portree area, which was fine for us. The hotel rooms do not have a fridge and there is no onsite gym or laundry. If you are visiting Isle of Skye and want to stay in Portree, I would highly recommend Marmalade Hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights during our 9-day trip, and unfortunately, it was our least favorite stay. While the price was on the higher side (not value for money), the overall experience didn’t quite match our expectations. We encountered a few issues during our stay, and the front desk staff didn’t seem particularly engaged or welcoming, which made things a bit frustrating. There is free parking and the breakfast was good, but service was quite slow—likely due to the team being short-staffed. As for the room, it could have been cleaner, maybe the cleaning staff was also short-staffed.

Coruisk House is a charming cottage located in the tiny village of Elgol, offering boat trips to the remote Loch Coruisk. The Edwardian country house has been refurbished with a contemporary interior and offers stunning views of the bay. Guests have praised the host's hospitality and attention to detail, making their stay for special occasions like weddings truly memorable. The on-site restaurant also receives high praise for its incredible four-course menu, making it a must-visit dining spot while exploring Skye.
A truly magical place to stay on our honeymoon. Coruisk House has beautiful, bright rooms with stunning views. The food, both dinner and breakfast was incredible and has been a highlight of our trip to Skye. This is how you do hospitality. Elgol is a wonderful rural village. I adored the 13 mile single track drive through the most breathtaking scenery on Skye. Thank you so much Clare and Iain for your hospitality. We will be returning on our next trip to Scotland.

Our seventh visit since 2018 which must speak for itself! We love Skye, and this lovely restaurant with rooms beautifully situated on the glorious Elgol peninsular is so special. Iain's food is exceptional - carefully sourced local first-class ingredients and so expertly prepared by him alone. Iain and Clare also have a very loyal team. If you prefer noisy, fast restaurants this may not be for you, as the pace is slow, gentle but very special.

Our favourite stop over from our 8 day NC500 trip. Claire and Ian run a amazing hotel. With a bonus of some dogs if you want to see them. Breakfast was 10 / 10 and was the best breakfast on the trip. The range of food available, quality of ingredients and overall style was perfect. Room with a view, a super comfy bed and great shower what more could you want. Bonus of super fluffy robes Shame we only booked 1 night.

A Luxurious, Romantic Wedding Stay at Coruisk House, Isle of Skye… We spent two unforgettable days at Coruisk House for our wedding, and it was the perfect setting for a truly special celebration. From start to finish, the experience was seamless — a rare combination of luxury, comfort, and deeply personal hospitality. The accommodation was outstanding. The rooms and the cottage ‘An Nead’ are beautifully styled, immaculately clean, and thoughtfully laid out. It’s the ideal retreat for travellers seeking a luxury, romantic escape on the Isle of Skye. The food was exceptional. The wedding dinner was a fine dining experience in itself. Clare and Iain, the owners, personally guided us through the menu choices and wine pairings for our day; matching each course with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. They delivered four exquisite and delicious courses that were not only tailored to our preferences but also full of creativity and flavour. Clare also went above and beyond in helping us arrange aspects of our wedding that weren’t even her responsibility — her support was invaluable. Their calm, thoughtful approach turned what could have been a stressful few days into something joyful and relaxed. They anticipated our every need with care and attentiveness. If you’re looking for a unique boutique hotel with exceptional food, warm service, and luxury accommodation on the Isle of Skye, Coruisk House is a true gem. It’s the perfect destination for a romantic getaway, an intimate celebration, or a memorable stop on a Scottish Highlands journey. Thank you!!!

My husband and I spent a few nights and a few meals with Coruisk House during our honeymoon, and I actually cannot properly express how influential it was to our entire trip. Clare and Iain (and Andy!) provide an unforgettable dining experience and we simply can’t stop talking about it. Next time we go, we’ll definitely plan to spend a full day in Elgol - we regret only stopping by the harbor for a picture the morning we left. We had so many lovely experiences during our trip, but Coruisk House is one of the ones that makes us want to return.

We wanted to visit Skye but didn’t want to feel surrounded by tourists. Luckily a Scottish friend recommended Coruisk House, which was perfect. He promised “remote, rugged, quiet heaven” at Coruisk with Michelin-caliber food, and that’s exactly what we enjoyed. We’ve both worked in restaurants for years and we’re quite critical, but Iain exceeded our expectations, offering genuinely stunning food that reflects and respects Scotland – everything is locally sourced, cooked with incredible care and skill, and presented beautifully. I will dream about the hake with grilled squid, served alongside pheasant mousse with squid tartare! I’m the daughter of a lobsterman and Iain’s lobster bisque was far and away the best I’ve ever had. The wine list is really thoughtfully curated – Clare and Iain know several of the wine producers – and there was a lovely range of prices and wonderful choices. Our room and the entire house was sparkling clean, cozy, and chic – from the homemade candy to the dreamy linens to the fireplace, Coruisk House wrapped us up in warm hospitality and gave us three lovely days, even when it was pouring outside. Clare gave us wonderful advice for the rest of our trip, too. Our Scottish friend said that “staying with Iain and Clare reminded me that pairing beautiful accommodations, off the beaten track locations, and world-class dining is the way I want to live,” and if any part of you thinks you might want to stay at Coruisk House, believe me: you do.

We stayed in the Tigh Mairi self-catering cottage of this property and we honestly loved everything about it! It truly captures the essence of what you would imagine a stay on Isle of Skye to be. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you'd need, including having a modern kitchen with all the equipment necessary. The rest of the cottage is beautifully finished, clean and new. The area around is what you'd expect typically, nice for walks and beautiful scenery. The hosts were easy to contact when needed, friendly, and welcomed us with some local goodies which was a very nice gesture.

The Bosville Hotel is a charming property offering comfortable rooms and a cottage, along with two dining options and a stylish bar. The hotel's restaurant boasts a relaxed atmosphere, an acclaimed chef, and a menu highlighting local Skye produce such as lamb, game, and seafood. Situated near Portree Harbour, the hotel provides easy access to the unique culture of the area.
Still dreaming of our stay at The Bosville! We (family of three) stayed in The Cottage, directly across from the main hotel/restaurant, it was so lovely, spacious, and a welcome retreat from our busy hotel in Edinburgh. The check in process was simple and met with a welcoming hostess! Our breakfast each day was absolutely delicious and the service was wonderful. I thought this was going to be a bit of a splurge hotel but it was 100% worth the cost, I will definitely stay here again if we're ever back in Portree.

Location great! Hotel itself is definitely nothing special. Hallways very narrow, dark and dirty. Walls very thin. We faced the street directly over the bar so was very noisy. In the USA this would be equivalent to a 2 star, 3 star max. Breakfast in adjoining restaurant was very clean and very good. Great service at restaurant. Parking terrible- Has 7 spots total first come first serve. Otherwise have to park a few blocks away and hall your luggage through town and pay to park. Definitely not work the $500/night! Very overpriced for midweek.
Glen G — Google review
We had an excellent three days at the Bosville while exploring Skye. The Family of 4 room was plenty of space and extremely quiet. There is one large bed and two chairs that fold out into singles. I wouldn’t recommend the fold-puts for adults. It seems to be in the back of the hotel away from the street and bar/restaurant noise. The staff was very kind, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Breakfast is excellent, as is the dinner if you choose to reserve a table there in the evening. As others have mentioned, parking is a limited and not reserved. However, we always managed to snag a space when returning in the evening. This place is in the heart of Portree and you can walk anywhere in town easily. Would definitely return.

My favourite hotel on Skye (but I have never stayed anywhere else because I keep coming back)! Nice rooms: good size, well appointed, larger than normal shower, excellent breakfast. Most importantly, the staff is kind and attentive.
Michelle D — Google review
If you stay here, ask for a room away from the street front view and also not over the bar. The delivery trucks start early 6:30am and the bar music plays loudly until 11pm. Windows are open to cool the rooms so you get all of the noise. Low tech room with few charging options. Not worth the high price per night in my opinion.
Phil F — Google review
A very basic nothing special hotel and room. Clean for sure, but other than that not worth the price. Well-located but the town is so small any other hotel in the area will also be well-located. Dark room as well. I guess they are labeled as 4 star? Definitely not. What a rip off at 330 GBP/night.

The Broadford Hotel, established in the early 17th-century, offers a cozy and luxurious stay with subdued rooms inspired by different Drambuie tartans. The hotel features an upscale restaurant serving local fare and two cozy bars. Depending on the season, guests can enjoy homemade meals at the Gabbro Bar or dine at the Spinnaker Bistro facing Broadford Bay. Situated near Loch Slapin, it provides stunning views of the ocean and rolling mountains.
Being on Skye it can be very hard to get accommodations. This location was kind of central about midway. I stayed in one of the Hotel cottages and it was very unassuming from the outside, but the inside was huge! It had a locked front door vestibule with units inside (only a few steps up to the outside door). The rooms were very quiet, large, comfortable and clean. The restaurant has very good food and great service. There's also free parking. It really was nice and well lit.
Carol S — Google review
Staff: absolutely excellent, Friendly and helpful. Location: awesome. Right in town. Walking distance to restaurants and Co-op. Breakfast: a full Vegan breakfast is available that will fill you through to the afternoon. Rooms: room 6 needs a full renovation. The bathroom needs a really deep clean. There’s yellow stuff dripping down the tiles and the shower needs a thorough clean to remove the dirt and mould. The shower hose and shower head needs a replacement to something less camping shower. Now room 6 is right over the pub and the noise from the music & the customers outside screaming, is not the luxury that the hotel promotes. The smoke from cigarettes gets into the room whether the window is open or not. Previous Google reviews have highlighted the problems with this room & the reply has been „we are actively addressing this“. But it’s the same reply from the hotel for months and nothing has been done. For the price of accommodation, around $300 per night, it’s not acceptable.

Staff all friendly and happy to help. Hotel looks nice from the outside and great location with views. Unfortunately the room was not so great. Room 4 - every time the kitchen door downstairs is opened/closed, there is a loud bang that literally shakes the entire room. This was throughout dinner service and then woken up at 7am again by it. Please fit a soft close to your kitchen door. Also, the kitchen extractor is directly between both the windows in this room, therefore if you want to open the window, be prepared for a grease smell to fill the room. Don't like having to leave bad reviews but when you pay £288 for one night you expect a decent room.

The hotel is wonderful, comfortable and clean. We had an extremely relaxing stay in a lovely room, including a copper bath which was fabulous. The food in the restaurant was amazing, the evening meal was the highlight of the stay and the chef and staff were all very friendly. We brought our dog with us and he was very welcome. Overall a lovely stay and would love to return.

A wonderful hotel on the side of the main road in Skye. There are several small restaurants and cafes within short walking distance from the hotel. It is ideally suited to explore the road to Elgol and the rest of Skye. We stayed in the lodge across from thr original 1611 building. The rooms are well furnished and comfortable. The shower is especially nice and the warm water is plentiful.

Very comfortable stay, the room was warm, spacious, quiet with a lovely view. Bed was so cosy. Dined in the restaurant and what a delight the food was delicious - best Cullen Skink soup ever. All staff were lovely but would like to mention the Ukraine girl ( sorry can't remember her name) in the restaurant, her hospitality skills were top notch, she was so pleasant, mannerly and very helpful. All in all a lovely relaxing stay, I would highly recommend.

Review of hotel restaurant only. £45 per head for 2 courses and several of the meals were of a really low standard. The bruschetta felt like it was on stale bread and had no seasoning. Two of us had langoustines and they were really chewy and flavourless. The staff were lovely and very helpful. They also took these off the bill after I mentioned it. The next night we just got fish and chips from the place on the high street and it was 10X better. Wouldn’t recommend eating in the restaurant.
Ali T — Google review
I hate giving poor reviews but I’m sad to give this location a poor rating. Pros: - The staff are top notch. They were so very friendly, helpful and apologetic. Probably the nicest staff in Scotland. - Location Cons: - Everything else From the bar below room 6 that makes the room nearly uninhabitable, to loud smokers billowing cigarette smoke outside the window, to the poor housekeeping, to the moldy bathroom with broken toilets, to the paper thin walls… I cannot recommend this hotel when staying on Skye. Especially at the extremely high (~$300USD/night) rates they are charging. It has such great potential. It’s in an old historic building, in an amazing location… but it is clear that it has not been kept up and in bad need of renovation/care. If/when the building is renovated (and the bar downstairs relocated away from the guest rooms), it would be worthwhile. Until then, avoid.

The Cowshed Boutique Bunkhouse offers a mix of casual dorms and wood-built cabins, providing an upmarket rural hostel experience with stunning views overlooking Uig Bay. Best hostel I've ever been! Clean rooms, modern bathrooms, enormous shared kitchen, and cozy seating arrangements with fireplace and sea-side view. We had a warm welcome (literally, it was very warm inside) and felt comfortable from the start. Lockers are available in the room for personal belongings and we slept well in the bunk beds. The only slight downside is that toilets were only available in the bathrooms, so if you had to go to the loo during rush hour, you could wait a bit longer. Apart from that, 10/10 stay.

Very nice place to sleep, feels super homey and the people working there are super friendly. The drive up is very steep and a bit scary especially the first time and if you're driving a rental (which you're not used too). We had a 4-bunk bedroom which was very clean and pretty spacious with it's own bathroom. Alas the toilet kept making a loud noise throughout day and night, so the first night was not that great to sleep, however, I got earplugs for free at the service desk so the second night was much better!! Would definitely recommend.

Best hostel I’ve stayed at, ever. The kind of hostel other hostel aspire to be. Friendly staff. Beautiful kitchen (with everything you’d need!) Secure. Clean. Incredible bathroom/showers. Sauna. We wish we could stay for the whole holiday but they were fully booked. No notes, 10/10.

I had a fantastic stay at The Cowshed in Uig, Isle of Skye. From the moment I arrived I felt very welcome — the hosts and team are friendly, approachable and genuinely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, and their caring approach combined with the well thought through design of facilities gives the place a really positive energy. It was always lovely and warm throughout, which made it even more comfortable to come back to after an Autumn day out. The building is beautifully designed and very practical. Everything was spotless, spacious and well organised. The shared kitchen facilities are huge and well equipped, and the living areas are comfortable, cosy and inviting. The drying room was really useful too. The wellness area is a real highlight — the sauna and plunge pool overlooking the bay are incredible, with spectacular views. There’s also a brilliant bookable covered BBQ area, and the location itself is stunning and ideal for exploring Skye. I don’t normally book places with shared bathrooms, but this stay has completely changed my mind. Even though fully booked during my stay, there were plenty of spacious bathrooms with walk in showers, always clean, and I always felt very comfortable and safe. Ensuite rooms are also available. A warm, welcoming and well-thought-out place with great facilities and a kind, attentive team. I highly recommend.
Liz R — Google review
This is one of the nicest hostels I’ve stayed in. Great bunks with individual power sockets and a small shelf. Privacy curtains are a nice touch. Facilities are kept super clean. Excellent bathrooms which are spacious and clean with good showers, benches, and toilets. Great location in Uig (if you have a car) and very close to Fairy Glen. Laundry/drying room is convenient as the weather on Skye is quite rainy and you definitely need a place to hang up wet weather gear. Full equipped kitchen and well organised fridge + pantry space. The driveway is very steep and it is difficult to pass an approaching car. Gas is turned off through lunch time and other times which is inconvenient for those wishing to cook all their own meals. Hand towels and shower mats/towels would be a nice addition to reduce paper towel waste and make showering more comfortable. Although the hostel has little control over this, snoring/noise all night in the dorms is highly disruptive and it can be difficult to find a solution or move rooms.

A breathtaking view from the hostel. The hostel beds had a privacy curtain which is a great add. The kitchen and lounge area are well maintained and comfortable. I tried the sauna at sunset as it has a fall to ceiling window to the bay. Very needed after a long hike. Note the kitchen gas turns off at 8pm, but other amenities are available. I had a comfortable and scenic stay, it was very lovely.

Located in the most beautiful place on Isle of Skye. We were greeted and check in where we could rent towels. The common area was large and bright with enough space for everyone. Kitchen was very well equipment and a lot of space in fridge and cupboards to keep the food. Instructions were clear regarding the use of the kitchen and common areas. Rooms were clean, however bit small for 6 adults to fit with luggage. We didn't mind so much as we occupied the whole room however it would be tricky to share with others. Room was also very dark. Nice set up with bed curtains, shelf, light and socket that gave everyone privacy. The best part was a sauna. Easily booked via QR code. When we arrived towels and water was prepared for us. Cold plunge was set up outside of the sauna and sauna was warm and ready. Incredible views of the shore. Couldn't ask for more. Staff was very friendly throughout our stay. We are definitely coming back.

Simple and cheap accommodation in the centre of Portree. Very friendly staff. Well equipped although very busy kitchen. Nice lounge area with a nice view. Bathrooms were small and the shower head would benefit from replacement, I would also suggest plug splitters to be added to the sockets near the beds because there were no spare plug sockets for a phone charger without unplugging a lamp. Enjoyable experience overall and great price especially if you book direct! Added bonus if you ask nicely you can do your laundry for free, they'll even let you use their washing powder :)

Pros: Great location, clean, and friendly staff. Cons: Feels more like a basic hostel; rooms are run-down; beds in the double rooms are only 185 cm from headboard to footboard—seriously, who came up with that idea? Sleeping comfortably is a challenge. Conclusion: There are likely better options available in the area. /Family with teenagers

Stayed here last summer and had a great stay! Staff on reception were super friendly, let me leave my big bag after/before check in/out so I could still go off and explore without lugging it around, gave me suggestions of nearby hikes, what buses to get and gave me some maps. Really really great service. Hostel inside was clean, charging port and light by each bed, toilet/shower in the dorm (6 bed female dorm). Will definitely be back when I come back to Skye.

The photo doesn't do this place any harm. It's just a photo of low cloud rolling across the mountains. The hostel is staffed by pleasant staff who have a responsible position in making the customer feel very welcome. The hostel is a bit smaller than some I've visited in the past, but that being said, it's facilities are top notch. Each bunk room has its own bathroom, with a sink, toilet and shower. Would I recommend it, most definitely. Thank you for the experience.

I had a terrible experience at this hotel. There was no heating in the room, and it was freezing cold. To make things worse, no one was available at reception to help or address the issue. The window was in awful condition, letting in cold air all night and making the room even more uncomfortable. Overall, it was a very unpleasant stay — I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone until they fix these problems.

In the room the wi-fi did not work once during the whole stay, it barely worked once in the lounge (but the yankees where very loudly explaining their new "eat, travel, love" philosophy to everyone as if they've just discovered travelling). The room was spacious, but as always no luggage rack or comfortable place to put/open any luggage.

We just used the launderette located in the basement of the hostel that is open and available to the public. There are 3 working machines each of washers and dryers. The machines only take coins. There is no change machine available. We ran to the bank that is on the square across the street from the hostel for change. It was a bit dirty in the room, but the clothes came out clean and dry.

Best B&B of our trip. Spacious comfortable rooms and lots of breakfast options. Highly recommend! We wish we could have spent another night.

My wife, myself, and a few friends recently stayed at Canowindra for 2 nights. We highly recommend Canowindra to anyone looking to visit Skye. The entire experience was so charming and enjoyable. Our rooms were “Magpies” and “Fishes” and both were incredibly clean and comfortable. The morning breakfast was fantastic and the best way to start each day. The hospitality of the hosts left nothing to be desired. We happened to arrive after a particularly large storm, which caused the power to go out around most of the island. Not to worry: Georgie & Co were prepared and had everything lit by candlelight and were able to get us all set up no problem at all. Shortly thereafter, power came back on and it was back to normal - but the initial pivot and response really made one feel taken care of. Highlight of the experience is definitely Bindi: the 17yr old cat that saunters about during breakfast. She greeted us with a big meow each morning and even accepted some pets. The location is also great. A short drive from the town of Portree, very quiet, and a lovely walking path with stunning views make it an optimal spot.

My partner and I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Canowindra. The space is beautiful, rooms and bed are comfortable (and so spacious!), and the bath was lovely. Breakfast was delicious, the location was near it all with a quieter, cozier vibe (which we loved), and - above all - Georgie was fantastic! She welcomed us and took care of any need. She makes time for every guest and clearly does everything with the utmost care. As others have said, everything is calming and rejuvenating - exactly what we were looking for after a days full of driving and hiking. We can’t speak highly enough about how fabulous it all was and recommend Canowindra to anyone looking for an adorable and highly hospitable B&B in the Isle of Skye!

A great centrally located B&B, and Georgie and Rick were very welcoming hosts (we weren't expecting to run into an australian host on the otherside of the world). We stayed in one of the Super King En-suite rooms (fishes) it was spacious and well-appointed. The room treats (the cookies) were a nice touch. The breakfast food and company (Bindi) were excellent as well.

The Old Inn is popular among locals and tourists alike, known for its warm highland welcome and serving highland dishes made with local fish, meat, and produce for lunch and evening meals.
We ate at the pub and it was great! I got the chowder and it was well seasoned and very tasty with lots of haddock and small shrimp. They bread was soft on the inside and crusty on the outside just like you want it. My friend is gluten free and they have gluten free buns. Her burger looked amazing and she said it tasted great too. Of course the service was very friendly and the view outback is lovely. Easy parking down the main street in a public lot.

Went to the pub one night and got breakfast the next morning. Their haggis was spectacular. I never had it before that breakfast, but now I’m hooked. I tried some store-bought, and, while still good, the Inn’s just really is on another level. Friendly atmosphere, filled with locals, welcoming to all, great cider, great dessert (kid couldn’t drink cider, and the hot chocolate machine was broken, so I offered…). But, my memories of this place will be more about the people I chatted with, who were truly welcoming of us tourists.

“Probably the best pub in Carbost” 😁 Fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff and good food. We arrived midday and enjoyed a nice lunch. It was the best fish and chips we’ve had on our Scottish road trip. We were very lucky with weather so we could enjoy a fantastic view from the terrace while we had our lunch. We explored the area then came back to check in. Room was tidy, bedding clean, with 4 beds. Doors are a bit loud and can’t be locked as they are actually fire doors. Towels can be rented for £1. Plenty of shower rooms and toilets on the floor. Atmosphere was relaxed, friendly and we enjoyed our stay.

I had a burger here, which was pretty good, though a bit on the expensive side. The beer was great, and overall it’s just nice to have somewhere to eat nearby, especially since there aren’t many options close to the Talisker Distillery. A cozy spot with good food and drinks — definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area!
Peter M — Google review
I stayed in the bunkbed dorms. The location right on the water is fantastic. The pub food and drink is good with plenty of local liquor options, they also had live traditional music one of the two nights. There were plenty of toilets and showers across the hall from the bunk rooms, and water pressure and temp was good. I didn't use the kitchen other than the mini fridge - there was a fridge per room. I would definitely stay again!

I dont usually write reviews for anything but the food here was so good I had to. The haddock and prawn chowder was fantastic and the desert was amazing. The environment was also exactly what we were looking for. We didn't stay in one of the rooms so I can't speak on that but the restaurant was perfect.
Robin S — Google review
One of the best dining experiences we've had at a pub. Food was delicious and had a good range of specials to choose from. The regular menu is quite small but what is on there is very tasty. The staff were all very friendly and we could tell the cooks were very passionate about their food. The barman/ waiter we were served by was very friendly and made our meal very memorable. We'll be back!
Peter B — Google review
Stayed nearby and ate at the pub. So good we went back again! Very charming setting, super friendly and attentive staff, and the amazing food was well prepared and presented. The menu is varied to accommodate various preferences. The chowder was incredible, the fish and chips had the most generous portion of breaded haddock I’ve ever seen, and the drinks were delicious. Side note: if you can visit when they host live traditional music, do not miss it. It gets crowded, and for good reason.

The hotel offers a whiskey winter retreat package that includes welcome drinks, free distillery tour at the nearby distillery, and other perks.
Raasay House will forever be one of the most special places in the world for us. In 2022 I staid on Isle of Raasay and was struck with its unspoiled beauty. Years later, we chose this beautiful venue for our wedding and could not have been more delighted with our choice. The rooms are beautiful and clean, service is truly unmatched—every single staff member was exemplary from the moment we stepped off the ferry—and the food was stellar. If you’re looking for somewhere that mixes adventure, elegance, and tranquil beauty, this is the place. Note: Special thank you to everyone who worked Oct 09-12 2024, you made our time so special.

We accidentally booked our stay on the Isle of Raasay, thinking it was the Isle of Skye—and it turned out to be the most pleasant surprise of our trip. The Raasay Hotel was spotless, welcoming, and full of charm. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay special, even helping organize activities like hiking, biking, and a local dance event where we learned Scottish dancing. The views are absolutely breathtaking, and despite being on a small island, it’s very convenient thanks to the nearby ferry. The island itself is incredibly tranquil, with only about 180 residents and one small supermarket. Dinners and breakfasts at the hotel were delicious. We left feeling lucky to have stumbled upon such a peaceful and memorable place.

Beautiful hotel, room and location. Unfortunately we booked on the Sunday and Monday when they are effectively 'closed". The breakfast is a serve yourself hot and cold buffet, which, personally I don't like. Cannot comment on the food, other than breakfast, as cafe and restaurant both closed Sunday and Monday. Fire alarm went off one day, no one around to tell us if we needed to leave the building? It did stop, so we stayed put.

We had an amazing time, despite going through a massive storm with the kind folks of Raasay. All the food, from breakfast to dinner, was delicious and everyone was so kind and helpful. It was cool to see the locals come and go as well, since its kind of the only cafe and bar on the island. View was spectacular. Ferry to and from was pretty easy to navigate. Warning - if you are coming or going on Sundays, ferry is limited. And the cafe is closed certain days. It was a nice getaway, and we're glad we made the adventure over

The hotel is beautiful. The location is really unique. However, the room was scorching hot and I had a very hard time sleeping. I asked to lower the temperature and they offered to split my family into two rooms. Impossible with young children especially late at night. The person in charge patronized me telling me that the heater was cooling down when it was not. If you value your sleep, save the money and find another place. The dinner was average compared to the cost of it. The desserts were good. To me sleeping is very important especially during vacation. Wasted potential on this hotel.

We stayed at the beautiful House of Raasay for our honeymoon. Upon arrival we were blessed and so grateful to discover our room had been upgraded free of charge to celebrate the occasion. We booked ourselves in for dinner and breakfast at the restaurant which was delicious, all the staff were lovely and would make a point of asking if they could assist us with anything. We received great local recommendations and took ourselves for a walk up Temptation Hill in the morning after breakfast. After our checkout we received a message that we had accidentally left a few belongings behind and the staff went out of their way to send these back to us on the ferry and were so generous with their assistance and making us feel completely at home. We wish we could have stayed longer! This was a highlight for us and we would recommend others to make the trip across and see this beautiful part of the world and meet some lovely folks 💙

The hostel is set in a scenic location and provides a homey and welcoming space with clean facilities, including bathrooms and showers. Guests can enjoy the peaceful surroundings, beautiful views, and live music in the geodesic dome. The friendly staff offer great recommendations for places to visit on the Isle of Skye.
Tim and Georgia were a wealth of information for our travels and Scottish history. Kitchen roomy, clean, organized, well equipped. Bathrooms/showers cleanest ever. Comfy rooms with more than enough space. Spacious, comfortable sitting room and dining areas. Eclectic decor. Neighborhood wonderful, quiet, although a wee bit of a challenge to drive to on the single lane roads. Worth it!

The warmest of welcomes in a cosy warm & welcoming very unhostel-like old school conversion. Everywhere is immaculate. Beds most comfy. Kitchen genuinely far better kitted out than home. The location served perfect for exploring the whole island if you have transport - but also many lovely walks from your doorstep. The value added touches here are what makes it so special tho - the decor, the art, the toilet door quizzes ... the stunning outdoor dome (midgie&weatherproof haven which lights up with solar lights at dusk) is a convivial social hub and bliss for enjoying night skies). There is a generosity of spirit and trust that guests will act considerately rather than rules and instructions everywhere. If you are exceptionally lucky, as we were, you may even get treated to wonderful live music while you are there. Book at least 2 more nights than you were planning to.

Really can't complain, as good as a hostel could possibly get! Lovely atmosphere, everyone perfectly friendly, excellent facilities such as the kitchen and the ablutions. Beds and bedding were really comfy, would absolutely stay again. A freezer and washing machine would've been nice, other than that, 9.5/10. Would recommend!

My partner and I spent three wonderful night at Skyewalker on our trip to Scotland. Truth be told, 80% of the reason for booking was the name - the rest the location 😄 Turned out to be truly amazing. As soon as we got in, Tim welcomed us with ALL the information we could ever need and then some to make the most of our journey. We also had a lovely chat with the owner, whose name we unfortunately didn't grab. Everyone there and the guests were great company. The place is a great base to start your adventures, only 40ish min drive to Portree and a wee bit more to places like Quiraing and the like! And only a short bit away from the most delicious oysters ever in Carbost ❤️ though don't even think of trying to come without a car. If we ever make it back to Skye, this place is high up on our return-to list - thanks for the great time, enjoy your time off soon!

Absolutely amazing stay - we took a 2-bunk bed room and have 0 complaints. The place is crystal clean, the kitchen is fully equipped, and the hosts are absolutely wonderful; they will take their time and show you around/give you recommendations for your travels around Skye. We cannot thank Brian and Lisa enough for their kindness and generosity, this is definitely the place for me from now on whenever I'm in Skye!

My friends and I only stayed for a night at the Skyewalker hostel, but it was a warm welcome after a full day of traveling through the Isle of Skye. Of course what drew us to the hostel in the first place was the play on Star Wars, but we were pleasantly pleased to discover that the hostel was so well kept and cozy. The bathrooms felt clean and we appreciated that the showers were also cleaned and guests were encouraged to mop up after their showers. The staff member that gave us the tour was very hospitable and kind. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience and would definitely recommend that anyone staying in Skye give Skyewalker Hostel a stay!

Portree Independent Hostel is a vibrant accommodation housed in a former Victorian post office, featuring a distinctive bright-yellow facade. The cozy building has been converted into an inviting hostel with a friendly atmosphere and charming character. Guests can enjoy amenities such as laundry facilities, WiFi, and a well-equipped kitchen. The location is ideal, offering lovely views and proximity to the Co-op, restaurants, and cafes. Additionally, the hostel provides clean rooms and helpful staff for a comfortable stay.
We were about to have to sleep in our car, as there were literally no rooms left anywhere on the Isle of Skye that night. Fortunately they had a private room available (bunkbed), which we booked quickly, and the reservation was accepted right away. On arrival, we got clear directions for parking and the owner's son guided us to our room (adorable). We paid a few pounds (nothing outrageous) for bath towels. The kitchen area was spacious and well-maintained. We only stored some fruit overnight and didn’t use the common areas otherwise, but it was clean and practical. Other guests weren’t loud or disruptive. Bathrooms were available on each floor, with ours right in front of the room, so we barely had to wait. Shower pressure was strong, and everything felt adequately clean. The room itself was simple but more than enough for a good night’s sleep. Above all, the owner was genuinely kind and helpful, which made the stay feel memorable and charming. Can’t speak to the shared rooms, but for a private room, this is a great option if you’re simply looking for a room for the night, especially at about half the price of most alternatives on Skye.
Yena K — Google review
The colour decor was fab, bright and enticing. However the rooms did lack ventilation and there were a LOT of us crammed in (14 bed mixed dorm) which made for a very stuffy and smelly room. Definitely would recommend them investing in female only dorms as the room I was in was very male heavy and I did feel quite uneasy with a man on the bunk above me and the majority of beds taken up by men, myself being one of the few women in the room. I can’t fault the service, it was very standard and efficient, but nothing that made it stand out.
Laura P — Google review
I had a fantastic stay at Portree Independent Hostel! The location is perfect—right in the heart of Portree, close to shops, restaurants, and the harbor. The rooms and common areas are clean, cozy, and well-maintained. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and very helpful with local tips and recommendations. The kitchen and lounge areas are well-equipped, making it easy to cook and socialize with other travelers. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, perfect for solo travelers or groups. Great value for money, and I would definitely stay here again!
Bing G — Google review
This hostel is the worst... A shortcut to ruining a trip to Sky Island! You have to choose your dorm carefully 1. The bedrooms and the walls were covered with dust and trash. 2. The bedroom was unventilated and the unpleasant smell of staying for a while was painful. 3. Between the bed and the wall, there were dusty, bugs, and it kept me anxious all night. 4. On average, it's more than 35 pounds per night It wasn't worth it at all. There was nothing like shampoo, conditioner bodywash etc. 5. The dryer was attached to the wall about one on a floor, but it was so inconvenient and formal that it could not be used. 6. Given how many people hang towels in public toilets and let them use them, this hostel doesn't seem to have any hygiene ideas at all. 7. It is hard to understand why accommodation fees are paid only in cash. Although the policy is called "policy," it is doubtful whether the purpose of the tax evasion is to be committed. 8. I want to despise their stingy, pretentious behavior, which has no service spirit for customers. 9. Do you want to ruin your trip to Sky Island? Then choose this hostel. 10. A truly terrible hostel is on this beautiful island of Sky.
김태영 — Google review
As others have said, when you book a hostel, expect a hostel. This is a no-frills experience but that's what you get in most hostels. Only major gripe is the lack of ventilation in the dorm rooms. If the hostel were able to set up daily/weekly events (e.g. pub crawl, dinner, welcome drinks, etc.) it would really help 🙂

Horrible hostel, the rooms have no air, there is one air purifier but it's old and dusty. The only good thing is the kitchen. It's nowhere near cozy there. The toilets and showers are okay. If you have other options you should stay elsewhere in Portree.

Because of an altered ferry connection from Uig in Skye this June, we spent a night in Portree independent hostel. It was not an enjoyable experience. We got an attic room with a double bed which just fitted the width of the room. The place is grubby and dated, and cerainly not worth the £100 which we paid. I extracted a bedbug, or similar creature from my leg in the morning, and on contacting the manager, he did his best to squash the creature and denied that any such could have been found in his hostel. Not a pleasant night's stay, and do not expect that the manager will deal sympathetically with any concerns or complaints. The rest of the staff were approachable and helpful.

Greshornish House is an elegant listed building dating back to 1740, located on its own private peninsula on the Isle of Skye. The secluded lochside setting offers stunning views and a picture-perfect atmosphere with restored wall gardens and hens roaming the croquet lawn. Inside, the hotel exudes old-world charm with antiques, log fires, dark paneling, a billiards room, two pianos, and a bar stocked with 40 single malts.
Greshornish house it’s quite an experience. It’s an uncomfortable road to get there, so make sure you arrive before nightfall. It’s a very old property that has been somewhat renovated. The rooms are small and the layout is awkward. The bathrooms are a little more up to date. Having said that, the property sits on beautiful grounds. It has very pretty views, great for pictures. The staff is very nice and accommodating. Connor was specially attentive. Our dinner was delicious as was our breakfast. Not exactly what we were expecting, but definitely worth the drive because it made for an unforgettable experience.

This is a stunning hotel with cracking views of the hills and loch, food was excellent but the only downside was the wine was out of our price range however i would definitely stay again regardless. There was a nice log fire burning when we arrived in the lounge, our room and facilities were just splendid, can't comment on the breakfast because we didn't want to get out of such a nice bed.

My rating is based on the price paid which was £300 (midweek in June, 1 night stay with no breakfast). The room was clean but WiFi non existent. As there's no phone signal, it was important to me to have somewhere with WiFi. The bed was quite uncomfortable, very firm, and I had very little sleep due to this. Although dinner was tasty, it is very expensive for what it is (e.g. £28 for chicken and mash). On checking out, I was not asked how my stay was but simply asked to pay my dinner bill - without being given an invoice. I requested an itemised bill but the receipt only stated 'dinner a la carte' with a cost. I took pics of the menu while at dinner and now realise they overcharged me. They also add a 10% service charge to the bill. I've stayed in many places across the UK and had high hopes for this stay - however, it is not worth even close to £300.

Back in 2024 i made a reservation here. My reservation was paid in advance but it was refundable. I canceled before the due time and they never refund me. I contact them countless times by email and phone and never got paid back. After some calls the receptionist already knew my case and “the owner/responsable was never there”…

Location is pretty nice, but road is in horrible shape. Hotel is very old an dark, beds uncomfortable. It is totally overpriced for what it is. There would be a lot of potential to make it a really 4star hotel, but neither the service nor the rooms are worth its price.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this charming hotel in Skye! From the moment we arrived, we were struck by how cosy and welcoming the atmosphere was, especially with the beautiful open fire crackling away in the lounge. It truly felt like a home away from home. The restaurant was a highlight of our stay, the meals we had were delicious and beautifully presented. A special mention has to go to Liam, who went above and beyond to make our stay even better. He was incredibly helpful, and offered fantastic recommendations. His warm and friendly nature really added a personal touch to our experience, and we felt genuinely taken care of. Overall, this hotel offered everything we could have hoped for and more – great food, excellent service, and a cosy retreat in one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland. Highly recommend!

The Isle of Skye Guest House is a charming accommodation located in a 1912 country house near the Skye Bridge. The guest house offers a superb location within walking distance to the town center and close proximity to major hiking areas and beaches. Guests appreciate the spacious and comfortable rooms, complimentary snacks, and ample parking in a peaceful area.

Very pricey for what you get and the room was basic at best. I gave the service two stars, but in reality, this is a place where you never even have contact with the staff. There are only a few restaurants within walking distance and they had limited hours, so we ate out of a food truck. The main reason I only gave it three stars is because you were advised not to drink the water there and for almost $350.00/night, you'd think the water would at least be safe.

Absolutely gorgeous room to stay in, but the self check-in was a bit of a struggle and the breakfast a tad disappointing (some yogurt, cereals and tea/coffee). We went out for breakfast instead. Nevertheless a good place to stay!
Chloée — Google review
The Isle of Skye Guest House was a decent, fairly convenient spot for seeing some of the sites on the Isle of Skye. Rooms were basic and small. The self check-in was easy, but this place somehow lacks a feeling of welcome. The lobby, sitting room and large dining room with big windows to the lawn and trees looked interesting, and have a lot of potential as lively meeting places. But they were huge, cold, and sterile, crowded with chairs, not encouraging guests to engage with each other. The free breakfast was a stack of cold cereal boxes and a small fridge with milk and yogurt. There was one hot pot for boiling water for the instant coffee, tea and hot chocolate, and it always seemed to be empty. On our first morning we were disappointed the coffee/water was out, and there was no one to ask about it. I called the phone number provided and was told I had to add water to the pot. I asked exactly where I was supposed to find the sink, should I bring the pot to our room and fill it in the bathroom? The woman said to look under the table (which was covered by a long cloth) for bottles of water, and I should boil the water for everyone. Really?! At the least, there should be a note to tell guests where to find the water to fill the pot. This "guest house" does not cater to its guests. Left a bad vibe for us and others.
Margaret L — Google review
Right across the bridge into Skye. The buildinga are shabby from the outside. The inside was an improvement. On the plus side, the bathroom was large and clean. On the negative side, the bed was lumpy and the pillows were possibly the worst of any "hotel" I've ever stayed at. The owner also didn't inform us that most of the outlets didn't work until after we had checked in and were walking to find something to eat. Not a place I would recommend overall. Especially for the price.
Erix N — Google review
Absolutely disgusting. We reserved two rooms for four people and were put in two different buildings. Now they're saying that we should have asked to be put together when it makes the most sense. I found a dead spider on one of the chairs in one room and there was a soap already opened and used in the shower of the second one. The bedsheets smelled like mold and so did the carpet. The music in the hall stayed all night on so it's hard to sleep and even when you can sleep, you're awoken with a cheap breakfast. If you dare to take a shower, you will need to put your clean clothes on the toilet because there's no place to put them on. No one is there to help you and even when you try talking to them about how disappointed you are, the next message is automatic and asking for a review. For the price of it, the guests should be treated WAY better.

Lovely guest house and good location at start of Isle of Skye, bed a little hard and bedding could have been more luxurious, but very clean and well kept accommodation.

The Skye Inn, located in Portree, is a comfortable and clean accommodation within walking distance of Somerled Square and Portree Harbour. The inn offers amenities such as dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Guests have praised the cheerful and service-oriented staff as well as the delicious breakfast served at the inn. Some minor issues were reported with room furnishings and noise levels but overall, visitors were more than happy with their stay at this fantastic place.
We stayed in the Skye Inn as part of our Skye and Highlands tour and loved staying here! Beautiful rooms, clean and comfortable beds! Loved the toiletries, and the little details from the Inn keeper Mitch, like chef's shortbread, Scottish mini soap, complimentary soft drinks and a bottle of red wine! We have loved Skye and to comeback and rest at the Inn after a full day of activities! Highly recommend it! Thanks for hosting us!
Norma G — Google review
We had a pleasant stay at this inn, where food and drinks could be ordered in the dining area and breakfast was included with our stay. The room was clean and nicely appointed, with a small but modern bathroom. The bed was comfortable, and thoughtful touches like a kettle, a wide selection of teas, shortbread, and quality soap made the stay feel welcoming. While the staff occasionally got a bit mixed up when serving large groups—several of us ended up with the wrong meals—they were always kind, cheerful, and eager to help. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would happily return.
Tara E — Google review
The rooms were small but cute. They have all the essentials you need but being American's, we're just used to bigger stuff. The shortbread in the room was delicious! The restaurant had wonderful food and a great bar.
Christi C — Google review
We had two days here, and it was ok. The inside of the place is more attractive than the outside and they’ve worked at decorating. There are even books for borrowing! The food was very good and assigning a table was a nice touch. The room was small but there was plenty of storage space. However, the curtains were broken, as was the mirror, and the toilet was very difficult to flush. So repairs would be good. The beds were comfortable but the sheets rather rough. We would come back.
C C — Google review
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are as expected for Europe. However, the service was utterly spectacular! At the top of the list for us was Aly! At breakfast, she gave us an itinerary that we followed to “t” and it was PERFECT! I’m so glad we followed her recommendations! It was so much better than what we planned!
Cynthia F — Google review
Really good location within walking distance of the town. All the staff were extremely helpful and everything was cosy and clean. The dining room stroke bar has a beautiful fire place and some very comfortable settees. A special thanks goes to the Manager who went above and beyond when he kindly posted our fridge magnets we had mistakenly left behind.

We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed our room! We found it pretty spacious (especially the bed). Breakfast was great and we were glad that we didn’t have to figure out something in the morning. We could just jump in the car and head to our first location! There are a few fairly large potholes on the road to the Inn and the road that the Inn is on, which took some maneuvering in our rental car.

My second stay here and I love this spot. Close to downtown Portree, great breakfast, kind staff, comfortable rooms. Sitting by the fireplace with a beer and a book is a treat after a long day.

Dun Flodigarry Backpackers Hostel offers a range of straightforward dorms and private rooms, most with shared facilities. The hostel is situated in a scenic location, providing beautiful views and a spacious, clean, and comfortable environment. The manager is known for being engaging and knowledgeable about the Skye trail. Additionally, the hostel features an open-plan kitchen and communal room with ample space and utilities.
Stunning location with comfortable beds a wonderful large kitchen and living area. The hosts Annabelle and Gavin are the loveliest people. They helped via tel and email when we selected the wrong date for our stay and welcomed us after hours after our long journey there, and left a note and a key 🗝️ for us when our journey back from the Outer Hebrides was delayed until the middle of the night. We will definitely be back to stay here for a few days next time. A perfect base for getting away from the crowds on Skye or as a stop over to the Western Isles. 🐏 🐑 ❤️ 🌄🌅
Harriet R — Google review
Lovely hostel - Annabel is a very welcoming host and it has everything you need. Very clean and quiet with great facilities for cooking. We stayed in the private double room which was great with an ensuite. Location and views are amazing and ideal for doing the Quiraing. Hotel next door does very nice albeit expensive meals too if you want to cheat and not cook for a night. Bus stops nearby and offers a very friendly service round the island if you need it. For the price, it's unbeatable value for money. Will definitely be back if we make it up here again.
Alec C — Google review
Gavin and Anabelle (sorry if I've got the spelling wrong on your names) were the kindest people to meet when things went wrong on our trip. They helped us troubleshoot what was going on over the phone and did whatever they could to help us have a better journey. They are the perfect place to start the Skye trail. They are so knowledgeable about places to walk, how to do the Skye trail sensibly, and other tips and tricks you absolutely need especially if you're traveling on a budget or have a short timeline. They made the place feel like home. Beds were clean and duvets were warm. Kitchen was stellar. Dining room and living room were nice as well. I can tell they've worked very hard for years and years and have put a lot of labor and love into this hostel to try to make others' vacations and journeys pleasant. It meant a lot to us and I will be back to attempt the Skye trail again because of them. Thank you, cheers 🐑

Me and my partner had a fantastic night here breaking up our journey on the Skye trail. It was the perfect location to start the ascent up to the Trotternish Ridge. The services were great - a big kitchen, a drying room, and lovely staff. There’s a cute bar just over the road too.
Juliet P — Google review
This is a wonderful place to stay while visiting Skye. The accomodations are clean, the kitchen is very large and extremely well stocked. The location is in a quieter part of the island and is absolutly stunning, it was nice to exlore some areas away from the crowds, while still not being too far away. The hosts are very welcoming and and helpful with recommendations -- highly reccommend!

The hostel and campsite were officially still closed when were there just a few days ago. The owner caught us climbing his gate. He was so kind and welcoming and let us camp for the night at his beautiful property. Thank you again. Hoping to come back some day when they're officially open for business.

This Hostel was easily one of the best I visited so far! The whole house was super clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There's is basically everything you need. A room to dry your wet clothes and equipment, a very good equipped kitchen and living room, nice bathrooms and showers and at the reception you can buy some food and other things you might need for your journey. I loved it!
Magic P — Google review
Lovely scenic hostel on a removed road in Flodigarry. Abigail and Gavin were lovely hostel-runners who helped make the stay just that bit extra nice. We came drenched in the evening after a pouring day on Skye, so it was a life saver that the hostel had a drying room for wet clothes and shoes. Rooms and showers were excellent and the common area was well equipped in terms of equipment for cooking and storing food. They also have a small shop during the day where you can buy snacks or a bit of milk if needed which was very helpful. We greatly enjoyed our stay which came very reasonably priced, and would gladly come again. My only note would be that the building can get quite cold even during the summer, so you may want to bring good thermals if staying here during the colder months. But the rooms come with comfy blankets, which certainly helps!

Viewfield House is a charming B&B located in a 200-year-old manor house, offering a cozy fireside lounge with a piano. Nestled within 20 acres of woodland garden in Portree, it serves as an ideal base for exploring Skye. The Victorian interior of the house has been beautifully preserved, and it features 13 bedrooms, including accessible options. Guests have praised the beautiful rooms and grounds, as well as the accommodating staff.
We've returned to Viewfield in Portree several times over the years, and each stay truly feels like a highlight of our year. The house is set in a stunning location, and every corner reflects a genuine love for detail—there's always something new to notice and appreciate with each visit. The rooms are spacious yet wonderfully cosy, offering the perfect place to unwind after a day spent hiking and exploring all the beauty Skye has to offer. Iona and Jasper are always welcoming, and the entire team consistently goes the extra mile to make us feel at home. Portree is just a 15 minutes walk away and has lots of nice wee shops, pubs and individual coffee shops. There are also playgrounds if you come with young children like we do. We absolutely love coming here and hope to return sooner rather than later. Viewfield is a special place, and we wholeheartedly recommend it on every level.

I was recently traveling around Scotland for a month, and this was one of my favorite accommodations!! Don't let the taxidermy scare you away. lol! The staff were so friendly and welcoming. I stayed in the "Cosy Scots Double" and it was perfect for me traveling alone. The room was beautifully decorated and the shower had great water pressure and consistent temps. The bed dips just enough to feel like a nice warm hug. Very comfortable! The common areas were also very nice, and I was able to use the dining room while I worked remotely. The WIFI is excellent! They even prepared a packed breakfast for me one morning as I was heading out on a very early hike. There's plenty of parking, and the location is great for heading off on day-trips. Also - the mushroom and leek pie for dinner was DELICIOUS! I can't wait to return someday!

We loved staying in this charming grand old house. The staff were all lovely and it was delightful to chat to Jasper, the owner who has had the hotel in his family for all his life. The house is full of wonderful quirky items. We enjoyed the drawing too. And lounge for playing cards when it was raining. Our favorite hotel in Scotland. Good to have vegan options too.

We spent four nights at the Viewfield Hotel in Portree and couldn't have felt more welcome. The hotel, with its over 200-year-old history, is full of charm and character—it's like stepping back in time in the best possible way. Every member of the staff was incredibly kind and attentive, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. What truly made our stay unforgettable was Jesper, the owner, who personally greeted us every morning. He took the time to chat with us and offer fantastic tips for exploring the Isle of Skye. We've never experienced that kind of hospitality anywhere else. If you're looking for a place with heart, history, and genuinely warm people, Viewfield Hotel is it. We can’t recommend it highly enough!

This was my first-ever stay in a BNB and it absolutely exceeded my wildest dreams. The property and accommodations are breath-taking, and the service is excellent. I wish I could extend my stay (permanently). I will absolutely be back and will bring friends and family here. It is a must-see.

This is the most beautiful, lovely, tranquil place to stay in Skye - the hospitality is incredible, the food amazing (so pleased to see they don’t serve salmon due to the farmed, unethical nature of it!) and the dog-friendly room beautiful. And it feels like a bit of an undiscovered gem. I’ll definitely be returning!

The Viewfield house is stunning! The staff is so available and accommodating, they did have some vegan options for breakfast which was really nice and even did some takeaway breakfast for us when we were heading out early.

Stayed here for a couple of nights while touring the island. Not much more to stay that others haven’t already: it’s truly unique with a historical atmosphere. Almost like walking onto a film set or into a Julien Kestrel mystery. We particularly enjoyed their dinner service and conversing with some of the other (quite interesting) guests.

Guests can choose from three guestrooms, all featuring double beds with luxury linens and scenic views. The rooms are equipped with five-star amenities such as fluffy bathrobes, slippers, Noble Isle toiletries, as well as complimentary fruit and cake.
We stayed at Hillstone Lodge during a recent trip to Skye, and it was absolutely a highlight of our trip. The location and views are perfect. Bertie & Jana were so helpful and created such a great experience that I highly recommend staying here. They provided great local recommendations and the breakfast each morning was amazing. We're excited to plan a trip to Skye again in the near future and wouldn't consider staying anywhere except Hillstone Lodge. Thanks again for a great experience!

Hillstone Lodge is the perfect spot for a stay on Isle of Skye. Bertie and Jana are wonderful hosts and we looked forward to the delicious breakfasts and afternoon treats. Their daily recommendations on day trips were invaluable, and the location was just a short drive to many of the sites and restaurants. We had a lovely room with gorgeous views of the bay. We would return in a heartbeat!

Hillstone Lodge is second to none and was the highlight of our trip to Scotland. I cannot recommend staying here more! The landscape is breathtaking and the house is beautifully decorated, cozy, clean, and comfortable. Bertie and Jana were beyond welcoming and helpful in planning our time in Isle of Skye. Jana’s homemade treats and breakfast were exceptional and you enjoy them overlooking the stunning Loch Dunvegan. They have everything you need in your room and no detail has gone overlooked. Pictures do not do this place justice. My only regret is not booking at 3rd (or 4th, if I’m being honest) night! Thank you Bertie and Jana! We miss you and the lodge already!

They were so helpful and lovely. Their recommendations what to do on the Isle made our first visit of the Isle unique. Breakfast was absolutely amazing and delicious.

Our recent 4 day stay in September was our fourth visit since 2022, which must speak for itself. A beautifully designed modern luxury small hotel offering three gorgeous rooms (we have stayed in all three) and having probably the best view in Skye. Bertie and Jana are both delightful hosts and experienced hoteliers, and it shows in their service and Jana's excellent breakfasts and baking. Highly recommended.

We spent three nights at Hillstone Lodge and it was the highlight of our trip to Scotland and Skye. Bertie and Jana deliver 5 star hotel quality with the intimacy of a small B&B. We've stayed at the most luxurious hotels (Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, Belmond, etc)... and Hillstone Lodge exceeds them all when it comes to the quality and consistency of service. A few highlights: - The morning of my birthday, I arrived to breakfast with a special scripted Happy Birthday / chocolate covered strawberry surprise. - Each morning at breakfast you are greeted with a custom suggested itinerary for the day, weather report, and recommendations for activities to support a range of activities. - We had to depart early (5 am), and we were met with coffee and a fully packed breakfast to go. - The entire place is spotlessly clean and they provide luxurious amenities and products to support you throughout your stay. If I could give 10 stars I would. -

Hidden Gem on the Isle of Skye The hosts Bertie and Jana go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. From the very first email I sent inquiring about the area to our arrival the attention to detail is over the top. The rooms are extremely comfortable with every detail thought of. The ensuite bathroom is luxurious and very spacious. We had our own private deck overlooking the Bay. Each morning Bertie provided a printed itinerary with suggestions of where to visit along with maps based on the previous days conversations. The breakfast that Jana prepares is absolutely amazing with everything from homemade granola, porridge, fruit compote, pastries and sour dough bread to waffles, poached eggs, smoked salmon, bacon and the list goes on. Jana also had a special baked treat in our room each day when we returned. The lounge is lovely and there is a great selection of Scotch along with some lovely wines and beer.

Beautiful place to stay with stunning views. Bertie and Jana were lovely hosts during our visit which my wife booked for my 50th birthday. During our stay we visited many places on Skye, the weather was perfect and the whole experience was made even better due to where we stayed. Guests have praised the welcoming hospitality of the owners and appreciated the personal touches in the well-equipped pods.
We have had the most beautiful and wholesome stay at Skeabost View Pods, situated in the perfect location in Skye with the most stunning field view. The pods are warm and cozy yet still spacious, and the bed is extremely comfortable. It’s the little details that Anne provides that make the stay so special - a friendly face, bread, milk, porridge and even marshmallows to toast by the fire. I could not rate this stay highly enough, we will be back!

We had a lovely stay here in the mid of Skye. We felt very welcome and the service was perfect. You will find a cute short term home for your time on the island. Everything you need is there and the pod feels warm and cozy. Furthermore no worries about finding a car park nearby - there is plenty of space. We will definitely keep this location in mind for future trips and would love to come back in the future. Thank you!

If you are spending any amount of time on the Isle of Skye, make this your lodging. We arrived a bit tired and worn out from our travels and are leaving rested and refreshed, our only regret being that we didn't choose to book a few extra nights. The pods are very comfortable, with a surprising amount of amenities as well as a nice outdoor space. The hosts are attentive and kind, with helpful tips shared in advance of our arrival. The location is also ideal for exploring Skye, nestled between the two peninsulas and only a short drive from Portree.

Great place to stay when visiting Skye. The pods are very cute, clean and comfortable. We stayed for 4 nights and we could indeed rest after hiking all day. The location is great because it's quite in the middle of everything you can visit, we didn't had to drive too much to get to all places. Host is very thoughtful, she left recommendations for places to eat and visit and made a small video to show us how everything works in the pod (due covid we couldn't meet in person). We loved all the details and the garden that surrounded the pods its very very pretty and well taken care of. We can only recommend and come back again!

Shulista Croft Wigwams is a remote accommodation located in the northern part of Skye, away from major settlements. It offers cozy and clean wigwams with beautiful views of the mountains and sea, along with facilities for barbecues and ample space for children to play. The area provides easy access to attractions such as the north tip and the ruins of Duntulm castle.
Absolutely one of the highlights of our trip to Scotland! The location is remote but waking up with this view was absolutely magical. During our three weeks here we stayed at five different places. This was far and away our favorite. We stayed in #4, the only one with a hot tub and it was worth every penny. Looking at pasture land and the ocean in the distance while soaking in the hot tub was unbelievably relaxing. Adam was a wonderful host and very responsive to messages. On our first night he had the hot tub ready for us with a bottle of champagne. Can’t recommend this place enough!!

What a unique place to stay! Amazing view surrounded by sheeps and cows. The wigwam is warm and furnished with everything that we needed and a small kitchen with fridge and stove and all utensils. Great place to start your hikes.
Florian R — Google review
The place was lovely and the view is breathtaking! Adam and Sally are very nice and accommodating. The pods are comfortable, but the best is the wood-fired barbecue outside (and one has a jacuzzi too!). The only "drawback" is that the location is 45 minutes from Portree and the only (big) supermarket on the Island, but you have a full immersion into the nature and the Croft is just 1.30h from Rubha Hunish, the northern Point on the isle of Skye. Totally worth the price and we cannot wait to come back next time for our trip to Skye.

My partner and I have just arrived home from our stay at Shulista, and we miss it already! The location is stunning, just what we needed to get away from busy city life. It's so peaceful and tranquil and the views are amazing. We stayed in the wigwam with the hot tub, which the lovely Adam had ready for us arriving. The hot tub was easy to heat up and added an extra bit of relaxation to our holiday. The wigwam was clean and cosy, and the bed was comfy. There was loads to see locally; we had lots of nice walks and drives, but we always looked forward to getting back and jumping in the hot tub :) the loveliest final touch came on our last night when Adam knocked on the door and handed us a bottle of fizz...this was so kind and much appreciated! This was our first ever holiday together, and my partner and I have memories to last forever. An incredible place, we'll be back :)
Emma D — Google review
It was an absolute joy to stay at Sally and Adam's wonderful little spot on Skye! We booked this one very late in the day so did not have much idea of what to expect, but were absolutely thrilled when we arrived. Sally and Adam were very amenable and did us a great favour by letting us check in around midnight due to a late ferry. Both the friendliest people you will ever meet! The Wigwam exceeded our expectations - roomy, comfy, clean and warm! Lovely to have a little picnic bench next to the Wigwam, as well as a fire pit. We bought a fire pit kit (kindling, firewood, etc) for £5 which kept us warm on a particularly windy evening. The communal kitchen and bathroom facilities were by far and away the nicest of any campsite we've stayed in before - super clean and more modern than most family kitchens! A splendid little spot - a great place for us to escape the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh. Ordinarily, we would prefer to stay in a site with a little more going on, but if you're looking for total tranquillity this definitely fits the bill. Some very nice walks from the campsite; absolutely perfect for a few days exploring a beautiful part of the island. We had an absolutely delightful time here - would visit Shulista Croft again in a heartbeat!
Luke G — Google review
Great place to spend time in the north of the Isle of Skye, with a great view. You will feel very welcome by Adam and Sally. Their pods are clean, comfy and equipped with all you need for the stay. There is even a small guide of walks, with one starting just a couple of meters away. The field in front of the pods is ideal for kids to play and enjoy their time!

5 stars for Adam and Sally. We had a wonderful stay at their Wigwam's. Adam and Sally had great tips for us and always time for a short chat. Also great facilities. The Wigwam stay is a really great experience! The area is amazing. Lots of sheep's around. And there is a nice hike to the most northern point of Skye starting from there.
Tobias S — Google review
I cannot recommend Shulista Croft Wigwams highly enough and have no hesitation in leaving a five star review. The wigwams themselves are comfortable and exceptionally clean. They are not lodges or cabins and so one does require to be realistic but they comfortably accommodate two adults in a double bed, leaving the sofa available for use. You will be perfectly comfortable even throughout a longer stay of a week or so. The bed itself is comfortable. The kitchen facilities include a microwave, a fridge, sink, and two hobs and together with the various utensils one can easily stay on a self-catered basis. The bathroom contains a modern shower cubicle and all the usual facilities. The location is really rather special, situated a short distance from the most northerly tip of the island. There are plenty of pleasant walks to be had without driving away from the wigwams themselves. As good as the wigwams are, the proprietors themselves are in some respects the stars of the show. Sally and Adam are fantastic hosts and made us feel exceptionally welcome. They were always on hand to offer assistance whether in relation to directions or dinner suggestions, and never hesitated in going "above and beyond" to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Don't hesitate to book.

My partner and I felt so lucky to have the opportunity to stay in this spot! The location is just a quick walk away from Portree which makes it quite convenient for grabbing dinner and such. The location slightly outside the town center makes it feel like a little, quiet oasis tucked away in the trees. There is a trail nearby that makes for a great stroll or run in the morning. The views are incredible. The host is a lovely person and made us feel welcome the moment we arrived. We loved that we could give our order preference for the morning and thoroughly enjoyed both breakfasts we were served. All of it was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend Medina!

This B&B was fantastic. My room was large and very comfortable from the king size bed to the seating area. The bathroom was large and the shower luxurious. The breakfast was delicious and very filling. Two nights weren't enough and I would go back without hesitation. I highly recommend this B&B.

We stayed here on our tour of the Isle of Skye and it was positively lovely! Aileen was so welcoming and gave us great recommendations of where to go in town. Her breakfast was delicious and the room was stocked with everything we could need and more! The room was a seperate room off the side of the main house so was also very private. An easy walk in to town as well; a lovely one at that! Would definitely stay here again when we come back to Portree!

Aileen was a wonderful host during our two-night stay in Portree. The breakfast with haggis was phenomenal. The location is quiet and the ten minute walk into town is scenic. I could not have asked for better accommodations.

Aileen is the ultimate host. Our room was lovely, breakfasts were delicious, she provided help with getting laundry done, and even showed up with cold medicine when I felt one coming on. Top notch!!

My friend and I had our 2 nights stay at the Medina B&B and it was a very pleasant experience. The room was clean and beautiful, the owner was so friendly and the breakfast was delicious as well. Highly recommend to anyone who wishes to come for a vacation in Portree

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in September and had a fantastic experience! The host was so kind and welcoming, and the room was clean, spacious, and perfect for us. The breakfast was delicious too! We had a proper Scottish breakfast and the host was very helpful in finding things to do in town. We can’t wait to go back, it was absolutely gorgeous!

Nestled on the breathtaking Isle of Skye, Skye Eco Bells Cabins offers a unique glamping experience that perfectly balances comfort with nature. This eco-friendly site features three cozy cabins and a charming Cuillin Bell Tent, all designed for those who want to immerse themselves in the great outdoors without sacrificing comfort. We absolutely loved our time at Skye Eco Bells. From the cook houses to the green house shower to our delightful fairy cottage, everything was perfectly organized, clean and beautiful. We had the best sleeps we have had in years. We are sorry we didn't get to chat with Scott and Nadia but I had a great conversation with their very pleasant little boy who taught me all about bicycles. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to unplug and enjoy peace and quiet.

Best place ever! A fairy night fantasizing to sleep in some sairy being's shelter! Easy to use the toilet and stunning the shower box! The kitchen is very very stilish and takes you back in Time! I hope to stay there once more in my life! Owners very kind and helpful! I suggest to have a walk around by day and by night!

This place is an experience itself. We loved it! Is very much off grid, there is no electricity and no WiFi, the signal is very weak, but that's all the point of this place, be in contact with the nature and appreciate the surrounding rather than be on the phone. We stayed in the tend and it was amazing, the place is clean and the bed comfortable, plenty of blanket to stay warm if you need. The sharing area were amazing, there is hobs with gas you can use for cooking and washing up areas. There are some torch around the camp you can use during the night but it's mostly candle, which was amazing. We also love the log burner in the hub, made the atmosphere incredible. The campost toilet isn't the best to be honest but it match the philosophy of the place. The shower is amazing and warm. I would only add the possibility to have hot water on the washing up areas. For the rest it all amazing. I would love to go back!

Enjoyed our stay. Well equipped for self catering. Superb location for wildlife. A totally different experience for us, a mid 60s couple, but we had lots of laughs cooking in the kitchen shack, and loved the cosy bed and duvet. Shower was rejuvenating. Little tip - take your own matches/lighter. Plenty of matches supplied but whilst we were there they became damp and tricky to light.

This was such an amazing stay. As a person with pretty bad outdoor allergies, it was worth it. The set up is smooth and the camp well kept. The set up is comfortable, including the beds and thick blankets to help you keep warm. Their well organized binder had all of the information you could need. The composting toilets were set up well and kept clean. The ECO shower is to die for and their provided shower gels were not only better than my expensive shampoo, but also a good educational moment. The location is quiet and calm, and as long as your ready for the midges, you will be ok. Totally recommend as a getaway.

It was our first time staying at this kind of place and it was a wonderful experience. Our cabin was lovely, cozy but spacious. The bed was super comfy and kept us warm. We didn't need to use the wood burning stove since it was relatively mild, but we enjoyed sitting by the small stove outside just next to the cabin while looking at the stars. The shared facilities were easy to use and had everything we needed and the Greenhouse shower is so cool (with hot water and shampoo and soap provided!) and a great way to relax after a day of hiking. Nadia and Scott's recommendations for walks and eats were great! My husband was really skeptical about staying in a place like this (no electricity or flushing toilets, etc.) but he ended up really enjoying it! It is important to have reasonable expectations about the lighting, but for us it just added to the special atmosphere. We would definitely love to come back!

Our experience at Skye Eco Bells was without a doubt the worst we have ever had in an accommodation. For the high price we paid for one night (110 pounds) we did not expect such a terrible service. We arrived relatively late and found that the cabin did not have electricity of any kind. This was already noted in the description of the hotel, but we did not expect that only 3 or 4 very low power LED lights and some candles would be provided, which was clearly insufficient to illuminate the interior of the room. Instructions were also given to light the stove with firewood, but we did not dare to do it with such low lighting. After a walk around the complex we found that there was a single shower (only cold water) for all the cabins, as well as a compostable wooden toilet in which you we had to cover our physiological needs with sawdust, which I consider unhealthy. We tried to sleep but it was impossible. We noticed a strong smell that burned our throat (we do not know if it was a chemical or similar) and every few minutes we had to open the door to renew the air. In the end we had no choice but to sleep in the car. To top it off, mobile coverage was non-existent, so it was impossible to contact the owners to expose the problem. The facilities do not have an emergency telephone, or at least we could not locate it at that time and without light. Of course the owners refused to make any kind of refund after exposing our bad experience. They boast of their ecological ethics when in reality what they seek is to obtain the maximum benefit with minimal investment, at the expense of the discomfort of their guests

Gorgeous cabins, really charming decor, log burners were absolutely fabulous and I heatedly enjoyed the eco-shower. Compostable toilets are not my fave, but they work well with the sustainable theme throughout. No electricity (think flash lights (provided) and fire from the log burners). Very friendly owners too, super helpful!

Self-catering accommodation
Lusa Bothy, situated between Broadford and the mainland bridge, offers a rustic retreat in an old stone building transformed from an animal barn. It is a popular choice for couples and dog owners seeking a romantic getaway. Visitors praise the stunning views of the beach, water, and mountains as well as the cozy and charming atmosphere. The bothy is highly recommended for those looking to escape and relax in a beautiful, secluded location with a rustic west coast feel.
My husband and I booked the Bothy for our wedding accommodation, and it truly exceeded all our expectations. The Bothy is absolutely stunning, thoughtfully furnished, and stocked with everything you could possibly need. We especially loved the charming touches—like the record player, firewood, books, and more—that made our stay even more special. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the facilities felt like a luxurious 5-star experience. The location couldn't be more perfect for exploring the Isle of Skye, right on the beach with Highland cows grazing just outside. We had an unforgettable time and can’t wait to return for another visit!

I booked this accommodation via booking.com and received a confirmation of the booking. I subsequently received the following email: "I’m so sorry but the dates you have requested have already been booked by an Air BnB guest - I think maybe the 2 calendars didn’t sync properly, which happens occasionally. Unfortunately, you will have to cancel your booking and I hope you can find other dates to come up to Skye". This booking was part of a 1,500 mile road trip from Manchester taking in 5 bookings in total made through booking.com: Perth, Stornoway, Isle of Raasay Distillery, Isle of Skye and Glasgow. I arranged the entire trip around this and even had to book the distillery as this accommodation was only available for 3 of the 4 nights we wanted in this area. This is completely unsatisfactory.
