Warm welcome. Charge for entry to museum. Very interesting. Some great displays on 2 levels. Lift for disability access. Well. Worth a visit. Cafe upstairs on site can be used without access to museum. Tables are a little too close together so chair access - tight. Food choices good and quality of food - very good. I had Raspberry and Nectarine scone - best scone I have ever eaten. DELICIOUS - SO good with jam and cream. Hubby had Almond scone - that too was delicious. Well worth a visit. Disabled parking on site with lift access to upper floor displays and cafe. Don't miss this.

Gairloch Museum is an absolute gem and well worth a visit. The exhibits do a brilliant job of telling the story of the town and how people have lived and worked in the area over the years, alongside some really interesting information about local wildlife. The galleries showcasing work from local artists are fantastic, and the whole museum is beautifully presented in a fascinating building with its own unique history. The staff are incredibly friendly and happy to chat or answer any questions, which makes the visit even more enjoyable. There’s also a lovely little café serving great food — the vegan cake is especially good! It may be a small museum, but there’s so much to see and learn that you could easily spend most of the day here taking in the history and atmosphere at a relaxed pace.

We found this by accident, we were driving past having just walked around Gairloch. This is a visitor centre built inside a fallout shelter.. so well presented and interesting to walk around. Plus an amazing restaurant with friendly chatty staff.. allow up to 4 hours.

Highly recommend this to visit. Really helpful staff, well set out displays on a range of subjects & a high quality gift shop showcasing Scottish producers & artisans. They even sold top notch whiskey, gins & handmade chocolates! Suffice to say we spent a good amount of money in the gift shop.

Glenview was simply amazing. So peaceful and tranquil and the view was stunning. Excellent place to stay on so many levels, if you have dogs the space is unforgettable. Can’t wait to book again.

We have just had a wonderful week at Glenview cottage. A fabulous cottage in a beautiful location, perfect to get away from it all but still accessible for local amenities and day trips. The cottage itself is very comfortable and has everything you could need. Beach access is a little steep and sticky but an great bonus to be able to kayak straight out of the back garden! Would highly recommend this property and Wester Ross retreats to anyone looking to get away from it all!

Great booking experience, good website with realistic photos and accurate representation. I have stayed at least half a dozen of their properties in the past. Most of them have been excellent for a family holiday, clean, well appointed and of a high quality.

We had a fabulous time in Shore House Two, Badachro. A lovely cottage in an absolutely stunning location. The garden runs right up to the shoreline and the views across the bay are spectacular. Having the Badachro Inn next door meant we enjoyed fantastic local food and a drink or two! Booking was really smooth and Wendy very helpful. Didn’t want to leave!

I've been booking cottages at Poolewe through Wester Ross Retreats every Easter for over 20+ years. Wendy has always been very helpful and customer focused. The cottages have always been of an excellent standard.

The birthday cake that Jen made was a magnificent, colourful, themed cake. Most creative artistically, and delicious!

Best breakfast roll we have had in Scotland, we bought a cake for later on, delicious. Very friendly staff and a great menu range for a little shop.

YUMS! Crumbs was recommended by our travel book and it came at just the right time. Loaaads to choose from and was delicious.

Excellent choice of pies and other cafe type food. Some things weren’t available at the time but it didn’t matter since there’s plenty to choose from. Pleasantly reasonable prices too. Home made cakes are INSANE!

They were able to make one of the breakfast rolls vegan which was much appreciated. Also had a nice vegan sweet

Love it here, been coming for a few years breakfast rolls, sandwiches canines, quiches and traybakes all absolutely delightful, would highly recommend!

Small waterfall and nice woodland circular walk

Nice easy walk to a pleasant waterfall, Can be made to be circular and would have ventured had been on our own. Bridge over the water near the waterfall closed. Very accessible from the car park.

Beautiful walk up the side of the wee burn, well sign posted for the waterfall, until you actually get to the waterfall where, using stepping stones to cross the ford go straight across the road and along a slight path to the left. Keep going and you’ll get a good view of the main falls. We discovered this after taking the steep path to the left that takes you to the top of the waterfall and out into the glen. (Very Steep) my husband got a cuckoo and a Sea Eagle 🦅 at the top. I suggest if they’re going to put sign posts in all the way up to the waterfall they could at least clear a wee space where you’re able to view it.

This is a glen we have enjoyed many times with our dogs. It was disappointing this month therefore to be greeted with a virtual instruction from the estate of Gairloch should be on leads. Pretty unwelcoming and we are unlikely to return.

Easy to park and great walk to the waterfall.

Sehr zu empfehlen bei jedem Wetter (siehe erste Bilder). Ein kurze Wanderung führt durch das Flowerdale Glen (Tal) meist entlang dem Fluss bis zum Wasserfall (Flowerdale Waterfall) und darüber - zuletzt mit Aussicht bis zum Meer. Spannende Vegetation, schöne Aussichten, leichte Wanderung.

Good family trip

Nice little 9 hole golf club, est in 1989, where visitors are welcome. Beautifully located with view on broad beach. We found the course layout somewhat complicated, not evident where the next tee and green was.

A must visit 9 hole course, stunning location, meticulously maintained and one of the greatest golf holes anywhere in the world! if you’re a golfer do not drive past this course without giving it a try !!

Amazing little spot with great sea views.Good coffee and cake did not try the food on this occasion but looked lovely! Friendly staff as well always a bonus!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Was possible to loan a set of clubs for the whole family. Has a great meal at the clubhouse, will be back for a round again in February

Cracking Wee course. Built in a tight triangle of land with challenging par threes and tight fairways. Well worth a visit and the green fees. I feel I was mugged by the 8th. There is a steep grass "cliff" about two clubs into the par 5. If you don't know it's there you'll lose a ball.

An immaculately kept course with some amazing holes, with some elevated tees allowing dramatic views of the beach. Nice club house and staff to top off a mornings round.

Nice little town Garden with picknick tables with a nice view. Great spot to eat your lunch. There are public toilets a bit further down the road.

Beautiful sandy beach with plenty of sand on the shore at high tide and shallow water which gently slopes to deeper water. Very clear, no seaweed. Watch out for jelly fish in mid-July, but you can avoid them by swimming at the end of the beach farthest away from the Gairloch Hotel.

Kept clean and beautiful by the local volunteers. Wonderful beach to stretch dogs, kids and even adults. Drop by if you are passing by. Would highly recommend.

What can I say. It was June, 29°C and the beach was almost deserted. Nice water, great scenery.

Very pretty beach, spotlessly clean. Golden sands and dunes. If you want pebbles and shells don't bother it's just sand. There's a decking walkway giving access for wheelchair users and a pay to use public toilet. The scenery is spectacular. There's a short coastal walk to Charlestown , about 1 mile for a general store, cafe and pub , plenty of parking for the beach and it's free.

One of my favourite beaches. The sea is so crystal clear which makes it a great swimming spot. Often walked along the sand and never seen a soul. Great views too.

Well worth a stop. This beach is very picturesque with different views in every direction.

A great shop for fresh produce when staying or passing through Gairloch. A little bit pricey but you get what you pay for. We enjoyed the fresh raspberries and blueberries this week. It’s a real Aladdin’s cave as well - you can get all sorts from here, dog stuff, fishing stuff, bbq stuff, outdoor wear, certainly worth a visit as you won’t come out empty handed. Really friendly and helpful staff too.

A real Aladdin’s cave this place. Food, homeware, garden items, clothing and lots of small things that you may have forgotten if on holiday.

Fantastic shop! 10/10 recommend! This shop has all the supplies you need! Locally sourced food and meat, tools and paints available too! You can get so much from this store it’s definable worth going in!

What a great farm shop. Very well equipped. Very friendly staff. We‘ve bought a lot of nice little gadgets we will bring back to Germany like knives, door latches (we don’t find that kind of latches in Germany), seeds, a tea pot etc.

Pretty waterfall and only a small, fairly flat walk from the car park to the decked viewing platform. It is worth taking the short walk up the hill to the top of the falls. There you can be see and be seen from the lower platform, good photo opportunity if you are in a group. Either continue up hill and take the loop path back to the car or for a shorter route go back the way you came.

Definitely worth a stop off if you are passing near by. From the free car park, it is only a very short walk to the falls, which can be seen from a viewing platform. It's worth doing the longer loop which takes you further up the falls and to a viewpoint overlooking Loch Maree. It's only 1/3 mile and takes about 10 mins.

Victoria Falls was absolutely stunning – the views of the waterfall are incredible and it’s such a peaceful, beautiful spot to take in. Out of all the places we visited on the NC500, this might have been our favourite. Definitely worth stopping for if you’re doing the route!

Nice short hike to falls. Free parking at the bottom. Allow about 20 minutes, although the platform from the parking is only about three minutes. It’s worth it to go up and around the loop to see views of Loch Marie.

Great waterfall just off the main road down Loch Maree, free parking and only a short walk to the viewing platform at the bottom of the falls easy for people of all abilities and ages. A path leads from the viewing platform to the top of the falls for a different view. Waterfall nice from the bottom with its double drop cascade. A great waterfall to see on the NC500.

We came across this whillst travelling along the NC500 , Wow, absoloutley stunning, you can see part of Loch Maree from there also. Plenty of space for parking , wasnt overly crowded. Highley recommend a stop off on your journey .
