Hastings Castle, a Norman fortress built by William the Conqueror in 1067, stands as a tangible piece of the town's rich history. The ruins feature dungeons and a cloistered chapel, offering visitors an immersive experience. The area surrounding the castle is a blend of old-world charm and modern establishments like artisan bakeries and fine dining restaurants. Exploring Hastings reveals surprises such as vintage shops next to craft beer pubs and contemporary art galleries.
This castle is a lovely ruin overlooking the town of Hastings and the waters of the Channel. For an entry of £13 (as of the time of this review), you have unimpeded access to what remains of the structure, plus some infographics scattered around. The inside is hollowed out, only the external walls and some portions of the church remain after the vicissitudes of history and weather. The cliff collapsed several times throughout the years taking with her a good portion of the wall and the supposed location of the keep. You also gain access to some small, hand carved dungeons that probably were more storage than dungeon. All in all, a lovely and mysterious place that has almost been lost to time, but somehow still remains. Fully recommended.

The Hastings Castle is just ruins of what once would have been a formidable part of the defence of Hastings Town. I came here after taking the cable car up to the nearby view point and walking the short footpath down to the castle entrance. The ruins cover quite a large area on this hilltop and it takes some imagination to see the castle building as it was. There is also a small dungeon on the site which one can enter.
T H — Google review
A lovely place, quite small, with only a few ruins but still worth a visit. The castle was extremely interesting with information from a few boards dotted around. The dungeon was small but fun to visit. Sadly I think some may be using the ruins as a toilet as there was a distinct smell of wee.
Roberta G — Google review
An interesting site containing the ruins of the Norman Hastings castle, the site offers amazing views of Hastings itself. It sham the small cinema covering the history of the battle of Hastings has been shuttered. This is included on the hastings explorer ticket which great saving for a day out. This castle is way up on a bluff overlooking the city. Built centuries ago in a strategic spot where it could protect the area from invasions from the sea. They were worried about that after 1066. It is very noticeable from the downtown area.
Keith D — Google review
It's a nice ruin of a castle, however I wouldn't pay how much there, charging maybe add a pound or so on after visiting Smugglers Run or the Aquarium. There isn't much there iv seen more of a ruined castle in South Devon then I have for price you pay to see this.
Dale B — Google review
I wasn't overly impressed with Hastings Castle, it wasn't the best ruin I've been to, and definitely had the feel of neglect about it, with the over grown trees and bush, and dilapidated sealed off building in the middle.
Tim W — Google review
I have to be honest, and I would only suggest visiting this castle and the respective ruins if you really like history like myself. Understandably, it's ruins, but the cost to get in to see the castle is extremely overpriced, sadly. You could easily get some photos of the castle from different locations rather than going in to take some photos. I will state that you can get some fantastic views of the hastings from the castle location (logically, why the Normans built it there in the first place). There are also some interesting boards which give you some good invite into the castle and it's history.

The King’s Dragon, Hastings Castle 23/05/2025. A replica of the fictitious golden arm-ring used in the 1977 BBC children’s series Look and Read The King’s Dragon, produced by Sue Weeks. Nature & Wildlife Areas
Hastings Country Park is a breathtaking 853-acre coastal reserve featuring nature trails, wildlife, picnic areas, and sandstone cliffs. The park offers stunning views of the sea and stretches east past Rye Nature Reserve towards the White Cliffs of Dover and west towards Seven Sisters and Beachy Head. Visitors can enjoy walks along fossil-rich clifftops, picnics on expansive green spaces at Firehills in Fairlight, or relax on wooden benches scattered throughout the park.
Well kept country park with great coastal views, unspoilt nature and Exmoor ponies. Challenging but enjoyable walks down through Warren Glen, Fairlight Glen and Ecclesbourne Glen - after heavy rain, the steep paths can be extremely muddy but the effort is rewarded with waterfalls and an exotic looking beach. Superb views of the ever changing cliffs and landslip from near the coastguard station. The perennially flowering gorse brightens up the landscape all year round. Café and toilet facilities at The Bale House visitor centre. Plenty of paid parking (charges aren't too steep but machines don't give change). A great place to walk the dog (when it hasn't been too wet) and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. My favourite time to visit is on a clear day after a period of heavy rain in the winter months, when the waterfalls are in full flow. On winter evenings there are gorgeous sunsets looking west. An unspoilt gem on the south coast, with a landscape and atmosphere not found anywhere else east of Dorset.

Coastal Country Park located to the East of Hastings near the village of Fairlight. Very nice spot with plenty to explore that has enough options to make it worth making multiple visits. You can walk to Hastings from the main visitor centre car park which looks like it would be a good 10k circular walk. There are a number of smaller circular walks within the park as well. We're planning on going back with the kids to see what we can find. There's a lookout hill, hermits cave, natural spring to find!
Bradley K — Google review
This was a beautiful coastal hike. The trail was covered in Bluebells and Wild Garlic. An enjoyable amount of incline too. Plenty of people on the trail / popular. I was lucky with parking but it does get very busy.
Alex T — Google review
Wonderful to be able to walk straight out into the countryside and onto the coastal path from East Hill, Old Hastings. Peaceful & lush with intermittent sea views. Walk up the steps or get the funicular to the summit of E. Hill enter the park then follow the signs to The Glens. The trail starts at the far end of the park and goes all the way to Fire Hills. Varied paths take you through woods and open fields and across the river. Breathtaking sea views but be warned it's seriously up and downy in a few parts with steps down into the glen and up the other side. A great workout and more rewarding the further you go, around 8-10 miles there and back. Absolutely worth the effort though. Benches and good signage along the way. If you're craving a bit of green this is the place to go without having to get in the car.
Kate — Google review
Sooo beautiful! One of my favourite walks / hikes I have done. The wildlife, the woodlands and of course seeing the sea throughout. Will be returning. It is clean too and well maintained
Carys M — Google review
Such a peaceful place! Lovely visitors centre, plenty scenic paths and lots of benches to rest on!
Marta M — Google review
Nice walk from Hastings to Pett Level/Rye. It’s about 6 miles from Hastings to Pett Level. It’s not an easy walk at all, lots of ups and downs but you’ll be awarded with some spectacular views and some ancient sacred sites like the dripping well and old settlements. Don’t attempt walking along the beach unless you know what you’re doing and have checked the tide. Lots of benches to sit along the way. No toilets.
Chris G — Google review
Beautiful place to go for a BBQ. They provide BBQ stands and bins for the disposable BBQ and charcoal. They have picnic tables. Spacious parking lot. You can spot many rabbits and hear different birds singing. Nice place to walk your dogs too.

Hastings Pier, originally built in 1872, underwent a major renovation and reopened in May 2016. The new design focuses on simplicity and functionality, featuring an observatory platform, restaurants, shops, and open-air event spaces. Unlike traditional piers with arcade games and gimmicky attractions, Hastings Pier offers a classy experience with its minimalist design and wooden kiosks.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Perfect Spot for Night Fishing — Hastings, UK Spent an amazing night fishing on the beach in Hastings — tent set up, rods in the water, and a sky full of stars. Super peaceful atmosphere, calm sea, and minimal light pollution. It’s a great spot to disconnect from the noise and just enjoy the moment. ✅ Pros: – Great for night fishing and camping – Beautiful view of the coast and city lights in the distance – Quiet and spacious area – Relaxing sea sounds all night ⚠️ Heads-up: it’s a rocky beach, so bring a mat or something soft for your tent. If you’re looking for a calm night by the sea — highly recommended!
Andrian D — Google review
The view from the pier is lovely. Unfortunately, not much was open, and it was the hottest day of the year as of June 2025. Many of the children's rides have been removed, but you still need to buy tokens for the two that remain. Great location with not a lot going on.
S H — Google review
Hastings Pier is known for its rich heritage that dates back to 1872. We visited Hastings with the aim to spend fair amount of time in the pier and enjoy the serene flow of water hitting the coastline. The water is exquisitely clean and blue with dedicated swimming areas that have lifeguards from 10am to 6pm. There are lots of attractions surrounding the Hastings Pier.
Khandker Q — Google review
A Thursday morning in August was not a good time to visit this historic Pier. It was mostly abandoned and the best part is the view to the Hastings beaches on either side. We had been here in the 1980s when the Pier was much livelier and more impressive. Hastings Pier was built in 1872. It suffered major storm damage in 1990, and was closed to the public for a time before closing completely in 2008. 95% of the pier was destroyed by a fire in 2010. After a major rebuilding project, the pier reopened in April 2016 but has not regained its former glory.
T H — Google review
The pier is very large and operates as much as an exhibition space these days. Not much shelter when there is wind and rain, so best to head for the cafe on the Pier for a welcome warm coffee.
Cornfields D — Google review
Absolutely nothing on the pier anymore. Only benefit at the moment is that it's a good point to stand & get a photo of the seafront. Hope someone can make use of it & give Hastings back a lively pier
Clare — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit to Hastings Pier. It’s a calm and peaceful spot with little to no noise, which makes it perfect if you're looking for a quiet place to relax or reflect. Unlike the more commercial and busier Eastbourne Pier, Hastings Pier feels more open and laid-back. It’s not as wide or crowded, but that actually worked in my favour because I wanted a quieter experience. There are places on and near the pier to grab something to eat, and the nearby beach is just a few steps away. It wasn’t overcrowded when I visited, which added to the relaxed atmosphere. The views out to sea are beautiful and the breeze is refreshing. It’s a great place to sit and just enjoy the scenery. One thing to note is that the pier is right next to a fairly busy road, so getting there can be a bit hectic. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, especially during peak times, so visitors should plan ahead or consider using public transport if possible. Overall, I had a lovely time and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a slower, quieter seaside experience.
Lemmy M — Google review
In a great location, lovely wide spacious pier with not a lot going on. Couple of places for food, drink and ice creams and some kiddies rides and that’s it. Nice view of the coastline but that’s it. Some small pop up shops that were closed.

Hastings Beach is a charming pebble beach that offers swimming facilities and restrooms, along with a nearby promenade for shopping and dining. During the summer, it becomes a popular destination with beachside amusements and cafes. Families often enjoy building sandcastles on the shore, while those exploring Rock-a-Nore can discover small rock-pools teeming with sea-life.

Hastings beach was perfect. If you want to swim and sunbathe in a calm place, you should come to the Hastings Beach to taste the English Channel.

This beautiful stony beach offers a peaceful and well maintained setting, with a remarkably quiet atmosphere. The area is exceptionally clean and tidy, and the locals are warm and welcoming. It was well worth the two hour drive from Sutton, and I would highly recommend it as a destination for families.

Smugglers Adventure in Hastings is a unique visitor attraction that offers a thrilling experience for the whole family. The site features a series of underground tunnels and caverns, known as St Clements Caves, which were utilized by smugglers and buccaneers during the 17th century. Visitors can explore the labyrinth of ancient caves while listening to live actors recounting bloody tales of smuggling and piracy.
I had been to this place before, a few times once as a child, then in my early twenties, and now with my own child - I always wanted to be able to take my own child there 😃 The staff are super informative, very helpful and very friendly! The site is just so much fun, not just for kids but for adults too! Very educational experience, fun way to learn! Honestly, you just HAVE to come here! The day after visiting, my daughter asked to go back 😆 Well worth spending every penny, you definitely want to have money for the gift shop after too! Bit of a walk down but you'll be doing loads of walking within the caves anyway you won't even notice that you've done so many steps 😁 Beautifully lit with coloured lights to help you see but not too bright that it dazzles you! When we went they did do a kids activity thing, not sure if that's just because of the summer holidays
Linds — Google review
Fun experience. Interesting to see what shapes people will carve out in the soft rock. Some exhibits a bit dated, but all entertaining! Recommend checking the website for deals as you don't have to book a specific day. We went early, which gives you some nice quite time exploring. There was a large group ready to go down by 11.45am.
Katherine K — Google review
A really interesting story told interactively through a character from the time. A great fun experience, but some of the games within the event weren't working properly, which could frustrate children.
Tom M — Google review
Spacious and informative with interactive displays and videos. Easy to wander around the caverns. Fascinating retelling of this regions history. Tad pricey even with family saver ticket but can see where costs have gone. (Bizarre to see fully working and spacious toilets in a cave!!!)
Jennifer U — Google review
If you don't mind a trek up the hill (assuming the lift isn't running) and you're not claustrophobic, this is definitely a good way to pass the time. The caves are really interesting and atmospheric in themselves, and there's also a nice mix of dioramas, displays of items, and some interactive bits. Some of the interactive bits were off, maybe waiting for some off-season maintenance. The gift shop had a section of London souvenirs which I guess is the way of things now, but some local art and crafts would be a nice addition.
Terry D — Google review
Also known as St Clements Caves. Firstly entrance prices not displayed. Overcharged on entrance - young girl despite having visited Spec savers or other opticians are available, just said standard and 2 children. I’m over 70, should I feel pleased that she assumed I was under 64 or cross that she didn’t offer me over 64 price reduction. Note to self better advance preparation required. Customer Service rating 0. Now the caves as an attraction in their current state (October 2025) I’d rate no higher than 2 - so many information points broken and not working. Perhaps giving them the benefit of the doubt visiting in October half term maybe they’re close to shutting for the winter ? Maybe repairs will be carried out over the winter ?? Lighting levels random with frequent numbers of lights not working. We were told ‘Feel free to use your phone’s torch’ was very pleased to have had it, very dark with uneven floors in places. There is a lot of smuggler information presented throughout in various tablos. All in all needs some serious love and attention.
Jane C — Google review
Such a nice experience with the little ones. Didnt know where to park, rang them and they told us the best and closest parking spot where we could get. It didnt take a lot of time to finish the adventure but so worth it.
Doruntina K — Google review
Great location! Well organised inside the cave too, have a few interesting and interactive things for children. We went as a school trip and children really had fun. It is located at picturesque landscape. We drove close to the caves and literally ran down the hill to the caves and then up the hill to the coach. It was about 5 minutes stroll from the road to the caves.

The East Hill Cliff Railway in Hastings is a historic funicular railway that dates back to the early 20th century. It is renowned as the steepest funicular railway in the UK and offers visitors access to Hastings Country Park, providing stunning views of Hastings Old Town, Stade, and Rock-a-Nore. The park itself is a vast area filled with wildlife and historical landmarks, making it an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts.
The ride is short but interesting. Children under 5 are free. It is windy up the hill, get a jacket with you. We found a quiet spot to have a picnic. Fun to travel with kids.

I recently visited the East Hill Cliff Railway in Hastings, and it was such a great experience! The funicular ride is smooth and quick, and it’s amazing to think it’s been running since 1902. The views from the railway are absolutely stunning you get a fantastic panorama of Hastings Old Town, the beach, and the sea.At the top, there’s easy access to lovely walking trails in Hastings Country Park, which made the trip even better. The staff were really friendly and helpful, which made the visit feel welcoming. The ticket price was very reasonable for such a unique ride. Overall, it was a peaceful and scenic way to explore the area, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Hastings. Whether you want a quick trip up the hill or a starting point for some beautiful countryside walks, the East Hill Cliff Railway is worth checking out!
Ashly S — Google review
If we don't use it we will lose it in time. So what it's not that expensive in reality for a fast dash up the cliffs. Lots of walks around the nature park with some great views. Use it or lose it. Consider that.
Hells G — Google review
Well worth £4 for return trip - but only for the views and experience but also knowing that you’re contributing to keeping this historic heritage funicular going. Views of Hastings are spectacular and there are great walks to be had in the nature reserve at the top

£5.5 for return pp, if you’re a family they provide better rate. Staff are super friendly and giving positive vibe which I loved so much! The view from the hill was spectacular, it will be nice to have a picnic as well.
Woncheol C — Google review
Lovely way to get up the hill for a view across Hastings. To get right to the top past the beacon there are a few steps to be done. Definitely worth having a ride, if only to keep this Victorian antique functioning.
Chris G — Google review
This is a wonderful and genuinely old attraction which we would highly recommend. We enjoyed concessionary fares which made this experience great value for money. A ride upon this funicular railway is truly like stepping back in time. Indeed, I last rode this as a child and I'm now 68! It was great to see the "cars" sensitively maintained. Moreover, the staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. A "must do" whilst in Hastings!

Vix M — Google review
Probably the most beautiful park in East Sussex, England, Alexandra Park boasts of 44 hectares of land in the heart of Hastings. It is a very popular attraction for family picnics, exercises, outdoor activities, dog walks to name a few. I always go here to unwind and enjoy nature especially when the birds starts to roost in their nests and listen to their beautiful songs as well as I enjoy the many types of trees, plants, shrubs and its amazing nature landscapes. Amenities are good with free public toilets, outdoor activities like their Multi-use Games Area and restaurants along the stretch of the park which is maintained all throughout the year. There are bicycle lanes, tennis courts, a football/basketball pitch, children’s playground, ponds, and a fishing spot too. Dog walkers are advised to put lead on certain areas of the park. Car parking around the park is mostly free and accessible but can also be challenging especially when the weather is sunny and bright as people flock to the park to enjoy it. Highly recommended.

The Shipwreck Museum in Hastings is a charming visitor center dedicated to showcasing artifacts from ships lost in the English Channel. It features exhibits of historical treasures, including objects and parts of the Amsterdam, Anne, and Charles II warship. The museum also displays fossils found along Hastings ancient Cretaceous cliffs. Situated in the small historic Old Town of Hastings, it is part of a cluster of attractions that includes the Blue Reef Aquarium, Fishermen's Museum, and Jerwood Gallery.
Wonderful museum full of history. It is free to attend but donations welcome. They have some amazing artifacts from shipwrecks and fossils found local. Staff was very nice.

Free entry to this wonderful museum which features artifacts collected from the beaches around Hastings and the UK of the various vessels which have sunk over the years including a great display of the ship the Amsterdam. Highly recommended

Free museum with some lovely souvenirs. Interesting exhibits about some of the many shipwrecks in the English Channel. Thoroughly recommend popping in.

A lovely and informative museum- and it was free! There was so much to see! This attraction will definitely kill a few hours in your day. There were lots of case full of artifacts found in nearby shipwrecks as well as videos of the archeology in place, I really recommend the video in the theatre room as it was really quite incredible. There is hands on children's activities as well as a colouring station to keep them busy. Finally, don't miss the outside area, featuring historic lifeboats.

Great museum, looks small on the outside, but is full of interesting artifacts and objects, plus it's Free.

A really interesting museum with so much to see! There are some great interactive displays for kids (and adults who are kids at heart). The displays are informative without being too much, and there were a couple of short films that are well worth a watch. We visited on a Saturday, around lunchtime, and it while we weren't the only ones there it was still pretty quiet. So maybe we got lucky with a good time to go :)

Headed to Hastings to visit the aquarium and popped into this museum on the off chance. So glad we did. The museum was fantastic and full of interesting stuff for all ages. The staff were great with the kids who walked in the footsteps of dinosaurs, held fossils and learned to tie sailing knots.

A very neat little museum with a treasure trove of artifacts and information. We were lucky enough to be there in time for a very nice talk on local prehistoric finds! It was very informative and actually even more two year old sat and listened for most of it!! So from our 2 year old to our 60something year old, our family enjoyed our visit very much. Will definitely go back.

The True CRIME Museum, located near Hastings Pier, is a chilling attraction for adults fascinated by the darker aspects of humanity. The museum features a collection of forensic evidence and artifacts related to notorious criminals such as serial killers and gangsters. Visitors can see actual items used in crimes, including the tubs used by John George Haigh, love letters from a serial killer, and paraphernalia connected to infamous East End gangsters like the Krays.
Visited the museum while having some jobs in Hastings. The museum is very easy to find situated right next to the beach and just a couple minutes walk from Hastings Pier. If you're coming with your car closest parking is Carlisle Parade Car Park, 5 minutes walk from the museum. The staff is nice, tickets can be bought online or reception. Very interesting collection regarding how police and crime solving worked in the past. You can see how much criminology system has evolved over time. You can also read articles about past criminals in the UK. You get surprised of what of these criminals did and how they did their crimes and how police managed to catch them. Recommend the museum for those into crime reading, documentaries, movies, but also who are just curious. Worth the time.

A great little find. Full of some really great items and information, and the perfect level of creepy. Popped here on a whim and am glad we did. It was great and we highly recommend.
Kristine B — Google review
The true crime museum offered an engaging and informative experience. The exhibits provided comprehensive details on serial killers, UK-based offenses such as football hooliganism and cannabis-related crimes, and prominent crime lords. I would recommend a visit to this museum. Wheelchair-friendly parking available on the side roads.

Very cool place to visit, full of interesting tidbits for the morbidly curious. Where else can you catch a glimpse of Rose Wests knickers! Super welcoming staff. It's chilly down in the exhibition so bring a jacket.

Gruesome yet fascinating, this museum was fantastic! So much to read about.
Cath H — Google review
It was ok. It's basic info on a variety of killers. If you are into killers you will have good knowledge already. Interestingly there was Rose West knickers along with other killers original bits and pieces. I must say it was very atmospheric as the museum backs into caves. I was hoping for more crime and killer products at the shop. I ended up with the obligatory fridge magnet. Would I go back? No, I've seen it all but I am glad I went.

Hastings Contemporary, formerly known as the Jerwood Gallery, is a modern museum that showcases contemporary British art in Hastings' historic Old Town. The gallery features a diverse range of works by both established and emerging artists, as well as exploring the cultural history of regional artists. The building's design pays homage to its surroundings with 8,000 hand-glazed black tiles reminiscent of nearby fishermen's net huts.
My first visit to Hastings Contemporary! This is a wonderful gallery space that, design wise, has been well thought through. Windows and skylights are carefully positioned to let the natural light and the beauty of the buildings sea shore setting, come through. I enjoyed both the exhibitions I saw, particularly '100 Portraits" by Sir Quentin Blake, the Grand Old Man of British illustration. The facilities here are good. There is a nice cafe (upstairs) a gallery shop (in the entrance hall), clean washrooms for those who need them and, best of all, helpful and welcoming staff.
Mark H — Google review
Nice building, decent cafe/ restaurant with views overlooking the Fishing area (the Stade) The art exhibits are not quite my cup of tea, although I appreciate the thought and work that has gone into their creation. Good to see that local schools have been involved and have work on display.
Mick P — Google review
This museum is located by the coast, among fishing boats and apparel, a black box of sharp edges containing two levels of art spaces, a small patio, and a café. At the time of the visit they had two suitably nautical themed exhibitions, 'The sun feeds the wind' and 'Undersea'. The former is a set of huge pieces and an expansive map of the area in one wall that showcases the local knowledge of fishermen and their experiences, the latter is a collection of paintings, prints, and engravings from different cultures and their approach to the sea. It's a small and lovely place that is well engaged with by the community, with spaces for activities and workshops for children. If only there were more places like this around the country! Can't miss it if you are in Hastings.
Rafael M — Google review
Great contemporary art gallery with very exciting and innovative exhibitions. Artists you probably will not see anywhere else. It has an excellent cafe with great views over the seafront and fishing boats. Hastings Old Town has lots to do and look at nearby. If you have the time, East Hill has great views and the country park is great for a walk.

Excellent - haven’t been for a long time. Very impressed with the ‘Sun Feeds the Wind’ - very beautiful and moving. Also the cafe, excellent coffee, cake and food - a bit pricey but definitely worth it - although the young lady serving me could do with smiling, makes all the difference if you’re paying over £20 for a lunch and include the service charge, I don’t think I would tipped otherwise.

This is such a underrated gem! My daughters love all the interactive exhibits, and so much thought has gone into making every bit of the museum interesting for them, with extra bits for them to do, that gives me a chance to look at the exhibits too! There is always something new to see and activities going on. The hall is beautiful!

We spent a few hours here whilst on a break in Hastings. There is free parking available although we walked up the hill from the seafront which was only a short walk. The staff were very friendly and helpful and entrance was free. Whilst at the museum, we visited the History of Hastings exhibit, the Agatha Christie exhibit and the permanent collections. What an absolute pleasure it was to wander around and to see such a varied and interesting selection of items. There was lots of written information, laid out in a way that made it interesting and enjoyable to read. Everything flowed really well and we felt able to take our time and really enjoy the experience. Although we didn't have any children with us, it was clear that the museum have really thought about how to engage children in the experience, providing lots of interactive elements, play areas and a huge range of books. I would definitely recommend a visit to anyone visiting Hastings and we would return again if passing, especially for new exhibits.

Some really lovely exhibits The Agatha Christie one was well laid out, would have been nice to see some actual props from shows in amongst the different displays The Durbar Hall was something else A unique feature for sure We didn't expect to see it, so was a great surprise

Brilliant free visit. The building is beautiful and it is packed with great local finds. Really interesting history of the area and was a real eye opener. Loved the art gallery interactive displays.

Went to see the Durbar Hall, which is far more impressive and intricate in person than in the photos. The wooden model of the Sahranpur Jami Masid is also lovely. A must visit for anyone interested in the history of Hastings and for lovers of early 20th century Indian art.
Amit G — Google review
Great medium-sized museum. Really interesting to discover all of the local history. A bit out of town, but not too bad a walk. The highlight was the full, wood-carve room, which really does need to be seen. Would recommend visiting if in Hastings.
Daniel G — Google review
A deceptively large museum with so much to see! This museum is a local treasure, free of charge to enter and easily a few hours of exhibitions to see, covering a wide range of topics. We kept thinking we'd seen it all, only to turn a corner and find a whole new room! It was great to see a comprehensive history of Hastings over time, and the visiting displays incorporate work from local artists making it a living experience. It was nice to see that even in a less prestigious museum there's still work going on to put the exhibits into a modern context. I'm not sure we saw it all, but it was enough to wear us out and work up an appetite, so no complaints from us!
Terry D — Google review
Visited 28/10/25 Hastings museum is a fairly good place to visit for a bit. Definitely not worth a day trip in our opinion. It isn't situated near town so if you're parking in town and plan to walk up, it is a long trek especially uphill too. Inside the museum, entry is free so that is a bonus, you just walk in and go on a tour yourself through the different aspects of Hastings through the generations. The history is very fascinating and there are a few activities for kids to enjoy too. Definitely worth checking out if you're nearby but like said, not worth a single day trip.

East Hill is a picturesque area in Hastings, offering visitors a memorable experience. The Hastings Country Park, established by the council in 1971, encompasses the East Hill along with cliff-top walks and three glens. This local nature reserve within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty boasts diverse wildlife and intriguing historical sites. Visitors can explore nature trails and footpaths while enjoying sweeping views of the coast and English Channel from East Hill.
Great view on top especially if it's sunny and the weather is fine. Be wary on your way up as there are a lot of stairs and a little stretching won't do you no harm. Great view of old town Hastings on top and the beacon is there as well. I won't get tired of going back to Hastings because of the scenery.
Niel M — Google review
Large open green space with great views over Hastings old town from the beacon. Ideal for the dogs to get some exercise, and a network of walking trails lead east to Ecclesbourne Glen for a longer hike. There's very good signage and an information board with a map near the East Hill Lift station. The lift was out of service when I visited, so it was a fair climb up the hill from town.
Andrew T — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous place. Saw a wild rabbit and a few birds. Would not recommend adventuring into the paths in bad weather it can be dangerous but on nicer days its a fantastic place to visit with different things to discover
Paige C — Google review
Great place for a walk! Right next to Hastings Old Town so it's easy to get to. Beautiful views of the town and beach. Entering from the town side, there are stairs up to the hilltop, which could be strenuous for some, so take care before walking up there.
Sam L — Google review
Would have been 5-star wonderful if the council had installed water and allowed signs are everywhere saying no camping no barbecues. There's not a lot of unspoiled landscape but a £500 fine could be yours if you choose to camp here since the East hill is a natural park (and very close to a holiday park)The lift isn't working and the stairs seemed no bother to anyone across the fields.Good treks are needed to save ,spines hips abdomens and hippies so maybe the naked folk should be allowed to Just BE .this is also not on the list of things we might let you do.come on parkland rangers we could be helping to keep common land clean 🫧 filled with community off grid bubble😂it's ok we were only walking.

East Hill has the best views over Hastings and the sew. It is a great place for a picnic and you can have barbecues. Good place to let the kids run about. Usually an ice cream truck on weekends but otherwise no facilities. Can walk from here into the country park and onto Fairlight. A steep climb from the seafront. There is a lift as well but it doesn't operate Sundays. Can be accessed from the top via Barley Lane and Rocklands lane.

WELCOME TO THE REAL HASTINGS!. Beautiful ore inspiring place to visit. Breath taking views on a clear day, allowing you to see all the way past Eastbourne and across the English Channel!. Gives a good view of the old town, the fishing village, the lifeboat Station and Hastings pier. Good place for a walk with plenty of natural wildlife in the countryside or just a picnic (Please take your rubbish with you or if you fancy pick up any others have discarded) Well worth the walk up the side or a trip in the vehicular rail way, as the both give fantastic views!

Spectacular views. Fabulous place for our dog to run freely, she had a great time! Lovely long walks, either along coastal paths or through woodland. Great for an exploration adventure :) Coming out at the top of East Cliff was just the cherry on top - panoramic incredible sea views, with Hastings nestled in the valley. Seafood restaurant
Maggie's Fish & Chips is a popular seaside destination for enjoying delicious fish and chips at lunchtime and dinner. Located on the Stade in Hastings shingle beach, it offers a picturesque setting overlooking Europe's largest beach-launched fishing fleet. The restaurant sources its cod and haddock directly from the fish market underneath it, ensuring fresh and high-quality seafood. The light batter-coated pearly fish and double-fried crisp, floury chips are highly praised by visitors.
I think it is a must have place, a fish restaurant in the historic fishermen area of the old city. There are many fish and chips places around, but I chose this as it was top rated. Indeed, I liked it. Sat at the balcony with the sea view. Got the catch of the day (plaice and huss), dish size was great, fish was fresh and tasty. Facilities are clean. Girls are serving the guests well and doing their best. However it is a super busy place with a large flow of tourists, so book beforehand!!!
Ismayil J — Google review
Busy Saturday lunch time but we managed to get a table for 2 on the balcony. Watch out for the seagulls though! Service was efficient and friendly. Food was big portions, tasty chips (though too crispy for my co-diner) and a lovely fresh piece of fish.

Dear Friends and Google Reviews Community. This is about our visit today, our findings and our experience. We arrived around 1300 with no booking and asked if there was a table for 3 of which they could accommodate. We ordered two double sausage beans and chips and his Lordship the Lord of Darkness had a cod like that wasn't a shocker ! With chips and a coffee, sure he is an addict of coffee ! The meals all arrived piping hot and I mean hot, his cod look very big on his plate of chips and was subsequently demolished as if the end of the world was nigh For our visit the service was fine no issues, the food very hot and fresh, no issues, perhaps bigger mugs for coffee for the addict ! But didn't detract from a pleasant visit, it represented value for money and whilst you can't please everyone and everyone is entitled to their opinions our visit was fine and based on our experience it got 5 stars We can recommend for our visit today

To all the Fish and Chips lovers, Maggie's Fish & Chips in Hastings in a hidden gem. My husband and I were in the area and decided to venture out to this shop based on the reviews I read online. If you're driving, you won't find it by GPS, you will need to park in the paid parking lot and walk to find the shop. It is conveniently located on the 1st floor accross from the beach. The view is insane. They offer fresh "Catch of the Day" and all items are cooked to order. We ordered the calamari (delicious). It was so good I ordered another portion. The bummer is that it comes with only 4 pieces. It is served in a fresh bed of mixed greens with a slight vinaigrette dressing. The calamari were lightly breaded and very soft and tender. My husband who don't eat calamari, enjoyed it thoroughly. I wanted a 3rd portion but was told that all of the calamari was done 😔. Our server was a nice elder woman who was very attentive to our dining needs. There's outdoor seating but be mindful of the seagulls flying around...lol. We were able to get a nice table with the ocean view. We ordered the Monk fish which come with chips and tartar sauce. My husband got a side of mushy peas, which I enjoyed surprisingly because they're usually bland in taste, but not at Maggie's. Total cost: 2 Monk fish meals, mushy peas, 1 extra order of chips, 2 calamari, 1 order of haddock, 2 drinks (cider & apple juice) = £81
Thamy J — Google review

The BEST fish and chips I have ever had - spoilt for choice in the area but we were so glad we landed here. Didn’t even season the chips as it was so tasty and the cod and haddock were outstanding. Definitely worth a visit!

Visitors can explore six unique exhibits showcasing marine animals from around the world. From graceful rays and skates to powerful predators and rare wildlife, there's something for everyone to marvel at.
Nice little aquarium with different types of tanks and a small reptile room. It isn't as big as some of the others I've been to but it was also cheaper. We got there for opening time and it wasn't too busy, it took us about an hour to walk around. You can re enter the same day with your ticket so we went back in to watch one of feedings.

Don't be put off that this is not run by the well known Sea Life brand. Probably one of the best Aquariums the family and I have been to because of the sheer variety of sea creatures that are homed there. A delight for all the family and for a reasonable price too.
Richard R — Google review
Hastings Aquarium is such a wonderful experience, especially if you’re a nature and marine life lover like me. I picked up the Explorer’s Guide booklet, and it really enriched the visit – giving interesting facts about the different species and making the whole journey even more engaging. There’s a fascinating variety of creatures to see: from jellyfish, crabs, prawns, seahorses, and sharks, to stingrays, starfish, eels, octopus, lobsters, turtles, and even clownfish and other colorful tropical species. Each tank is well presented, and you can take your time learning about the animals while enjoying the calming atmosphere. The facility itself is well thought out – there’s a well-maintained toilet, easy access to fast food joints nearby, and a car park close to the seashore which makes visiting very convenient. What really stood out to me was the picturesque view of the mountains and coastline around Hastings, which adds to the overall experience when you step outside. Yes, the ticket price might feel a little high at first, but once you’re inside, it’s absolutely worth it for the knowledge, the atmosphere, and the joy of being up close with such amazing marine life. I’m uploading plenty of videos and photos to capture the experience, but nothing beats seeing it in person. Highly recommended for families, couples, or anyone who loves the ocean!”

I really enjoyed our visit, the staff were compassionate and knowledgeable on the species they cared for on site. We were lucky to see a feeding and I would highly recommend. The site is accessible for the most part, but may require planning if stairs need to be avoided. However, the staff are quick to help without needing to be asked and it makes the whole experience feel welcoming and supported.

My partner and I had a fantastic time at the aquarium! While it’s not the largest space, there’s so much to see and explore inside. We especially loved the cowfish, and the walk-through tunnel was such a fun experience. The Hastings Fishermen's Museum is a charming and intimate space showcasing the local fishing industry through photos, memorabilia, and personal stories of legendary fishermen. Housed in a former mission chapel dating back to 1854, the museum provides insight into the overwhelming importance of fishing culture in Hastings. Visitors can explore framed portraits, historical artifacts, and even climb aboard an old fishing lugger.
It's only a small little place but it was amazing to see the boat indoors and also to be able to go on deck. There is so much information about the shit from the day it was built to the day it was donated to the fisherman's museum. This is a great place to visit if your ever in Hastings.

A must-visit (if you’re into understanding a towns culture, heritage and history!). The care and attention that has gone into curating stories of Hastings over hundreds of years, photos, models, life size exhibitions and more besides. A wonderful tribute to the town. Wish we’d had a bit longer - spent about 45 minutes here, could be 60-90 depending on how much you want to take in. Be sure to leave a donation and don’t miss some of the outside info boards too.

A charming museum packed with local history. The museum is small, one large room and a smaller one off to the side, but it really packs a lot of exhibits in. Absolutely incredible pies! Generous portions and pie filling. We had the chicken, leek and ham and the chickpea, parsnip and spinach curry pie - would highly recommend both.

Recently had a staff meal here, the staff were lovely, as was Izzy whom I communicated with re our booking. We were a large group. (17 of us!) They'd managed to sort it so we were all sat together, bit of a squeeze but we were absolutely fine with that. Our food order was taken once we'd all settled in, and food arrived promptly and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal and dessert. We all left with full bellies - the portion sizes were perfect and lovely and hot. Thank you to everyone who was working Wednesday - you were all amazing!

A fantastic pub, with great service. The pie’s are homemade, fresh with good quality filling. We were looked after by Rob and Olivia, they couldn’t do enough for us. We have visited several times, and have felt welcomed by all the staff every time. You will not be disappointed.

Good pub. They had lots of ciders on & was more or real ale cask place. Were there for bonfire night.
Nigel G — Google review
I've been hearing about their pies for years but every time we visited Hastings they were sold out or there were no free tables. Worth the wait and most definitely we will be back. The pies were delicious. I ordered my steak and ale with mash and caramelised onion jam. Stunning. The chicken, ham and leak was also excellent.

Went on a Saturday night. Didn’t book but they had a table spare. Service was quick and the pie was perfect. Nice, low lighting pub vibe. I think I’m going to have to make this a regular visit.

Beautiful hidden gem 💎 no tickets needed, free to enter, little tricky to find/get to, but lovely when you do.

This place was a bit of a pain to find, as there is no car park. I parked up Ghyllside Ave. The woods is a nice walk, there are a few small waterfalls to see. Kids enjoyed climbing trees. Dog enjoyed running around too. We didn't see anyone else there when we were there.

A fantastic muddy walk through a steep wooded valley, great fun with family and the dog. Hidden away, park at the end of Vale Road or on Ghyllside Avenue. There is no official path to Old Roar, but it sounds impressive. Little Roar is accessible and just as impressive.

Nice walk when you find where to walk eventually. Advice-go after it rained the day before, otherwise it's a typical British "attraction" - a dribble of water on the stones...

When you find yourself wandering along the picturesque beach of Hastings, make sure to carve out some time for a delightful trek up to West Hill. This charming spot is like a treasure trove of experiences rolled into one. As you ascend, whether by navigating the quaint Twittens or taking a ride on the historic West Hill Lift—an enchanting funicular that dates back to 1891—you'll be treated to breathtaking vistas overlooking both the sea and the rooftops below.
Amazing views of the beach and Hastings old town from West Hill 😁😁😁. Amazing views from West Hill 🤩🤩🤩 both sunrise and sunset 😻. There is path to go up and down or use lift- I think there is a charge- not too much but worth trying it 😜. Hastings castle is on West Hill 😁. Big space for walk, run n picnic too. Hoping to sit here till 8pm for sunset 😻😻😻
Sara K — Google review
Very accesible from above the cliff side. Loads of benches or can sit on the grass to picnic, slee, enjoy the view. Paths down to the town but unfortunately unable to do due to recent ankle injury
Rose H — Google review
This place is really very beautiful and refreshing landscape to look at. Speaking in the geographical terms it is one of the highest points in hastings. Attaining the greater height and a lovely view point for both the sunset as well as the ocean view as compared to surrounding land being one of the prominent feature of this place 😛😛😂😂

Beautiful views over Hastings and beyond . Good exercise climbing the steps from the town
Andy C — Google review
Park has got smaller over the years but still children had alot of fun ... great views over the old town and as an added bonus why not ride the lift up and save your legs.

Best place to watch the sunrise and sunset from. Space to walk, run, walk the dogs... there is also the most spectacular playground (thinking about the views)

Amazing view. Personally, I like west hill more than east hill. It took us only >10 minutes walk to the top. You can also drive there by car. Many street parking there.

21The West Hill Lift

The West Hill Lift in Hastings is a historic funicular with original Victorian wooden coaches that take visitors through a tunnel to Hastings Castle. The lower station is accessible from George Street, and the ride offers stunning town and sea views at the top, where visitors can explore the ruins of Hastings Castle and Smugglers Adventure caves. While not wheelchair-friendly, it provides a slow but scenic journey up the hill.
A unique experience going up the lift to admire the cliff views and sea with nearby benches. The price for the ticket also is for returning back down so it is not too bad for the price. Also, being accessible for people who would struggle with walking up the steep hill.
Lucy B — Google review
Nice one and a half minute long ride up West Side Hill, no queues or crowds when we visited at the end of April. The hill lift operates smoothly with the original wooden Victorian coaches from 1891. It runs through a tunnel compared to East Side which is an open air hill lift.
Amorfati T — Google review
In Hastings for the day so had to go on the funicular. It was £4, up and down. Quite busy, popular attraction. Lovely views at the top and you can visit the castle if you wish. Mainly ruins now, there is a charge to enter.
Julie G — Google review
This place is overpriced as hell and older than methuselah. Made in 1891 and still the original stuff which is cool. It's counter balanced meaning it's called a funicular railway, that's pretty cool. Anyway old as dust and really cool. Back in the day it would've been pretty cool and it's kinda like the original star wars, if you take it to how it was when made it's much cooler than now.
Taylor T — Google review
Hastings: a walk filled with soul, memories, and views that embrace the heart Yesterday we visited Hastings on a sunny day that turned out to be much more than just a casual outing. I went with my daughter, our dogs, and an open heart. Hastings surprised me with its beauty, its history, and its warmth. But the most touching moment came when we found the funicular. That was when I felt my dad so close. He loved Valparaíso, in Chile, and one of his favorite things was riding the funiculars. Seeing one here felt like a clear sign — like a hug from above. Taking that ride was my way of honoring him. Hastings Country Park is perfect for walking with dogs, breathing in fresh air, and soaking in breathtaking views of the sea. We walked, we laughed, we shed a few tears too. We enjoyed an ice cream with a city view and took plenty of beautiful photos. The historic center is charming and full of character. We stopped at Ye Olde Pump House, a stunning old pub that looks like it came out of a storybook. This day was special. Full of emotion, natural beauty, and places that speak to the soul. I wholeheartedly recommend it. Dedicated to my dad, my angel
Cary Z — Google review
This short cable car took us up to a lovely viewpoint and the Hasting Castle. The ride lasts only a couple of minutes but saves a lot of walking up stairs. The ticket is for a return ride, but one could choose to walk down to the Old Town of Hastings by foot.
T H — Google review
Fun to do if you have not done it before. I thought that i could go and have a look at the castle. But when I got there i saw a sign saying that it was 5.90 per adult. So i went back down the hill lift disappointed. But I will say that there are some lovely views from the top.
Kevin S — Google review
Although I have been upon the East Hill Lift Railway several times, this was my first ever visit to the West Hill Lift and I was very, very impressed! What is great fun about this funicular railway is that it is in an inclined tunnel for most of its length. The view over Hastings Old Town from the top is superb. The staff operating this lift are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and everything is maintained to a very high standard and is sensitive to the age and history of the lift. A definite "must do" whilst in Hastings.

A stunning lodge in a beautiful part of the world. We loved the comfy bed, the fire and the whole vibe of the place. As soon as you walk in, it feels cozy and relaxing. What an incredible place this is! The architecture, design and styling of the lodge are superb. Nestling comfortably into a beautiful woodland we truly felt embraced by nature - but in such style. Stunning cabin for a weekend trip away. We had a lovely time soaking in the bath watching the woods, as well as curling up on the sofa in front of the logburner. Can't wait to come back

We have come away from Looking Glass Lodge feeling incredibly priviledged to have been able to share that remarkable space with previous writers of these reviews! And so grateful to you both, Lindsey and Rik, for having the vision and the resolve to create such an outstandingly beautiful place and then to offer it up for others to enjoy. Our breath was well and truly taken away! Looking Glass Lodge is stunning both inside and out. For us, to have a weekend so thoroughly immersed in nature and to be able to relax in that glorious atmosphere of understated luxury was memorable almost beyond belief! The attention to detail that brought us, for example, exquisite bed linen, gorgeous towels, beautiful soaps and bath products, wonderful playlists, a woodburner that not only looks good but works brilliantly too, sumptious cushions and throws and more- almost induced a sensory overload but one which we absolutely loved wallowing in! Then, of course, there's the windows!! We haven't come across windows like that before but to think that you've used them to further respect the wildlife that the Lodge shares its space with is mind blowing. Sadly we didn't see any badgers but were entertained watching the acrobatics of the squirrels in close quarter and were feted with many varieties of birds including the nightly chorus of owls which was fabulous. We loved it all so much and have booked again for a post Christmas winter experience and we can't wait. Thank you.

Hastings Miniature Railway is a popular novelty attraction located next to the Shipwreck Museum. Visitors can enjoy a 600-yard ride on this small train, which runs on actual tracks through Hastings' old fishing port. The cost for a single trip is 1.50 or 2.50 for a round-trip, making it an affordable family activity. The railway offers different types of trains and operates quite frequently, providing a lovely ride through the fishing village of Hastings.
This is the best flipping thing I've been on in many moons sir. I saw it and knew it had to be ridden like a drunk chick at a mechanical bull ride. Was worth every penny and we all loved it. I may have been the most excited but people's were waving and stuff was epic
Taylor T — Google review
Waste of money, it says coastal ride you only see abandoned fisher man houses, car parked. Hardly any nice scenery. Also about 5mins ride. Its not worth it. You see lot more walking. Of you really want the ride just get single ticket
Salima B — Google review
Very cute and well maintained. The trains look great and the stations look nice. The price for a single was £3, which is a bit steep, but when you go with 5 people, you only pay for 4. Our little one enjoyed it, but you can not see a lot of sea. Mostly the attractions around the train and the fishermen’s houses.

I would definitely recommend this for anyone.

The Flower Makers Museum in Hastings is a unique and hidden gem located in the basement of a 14th-century building on the High Street. The museum showcases an extraordinary collection of tools, machines, and fabrics used in creating artificial flowers. Despite its unassuming appearance from the outside, it's a wonderful trip into the past for visitors interested in traditional craftsmanship.
Wonderful small business and museum in the old town of Hastings. There is an amazing time capsule in the basement capturing the history of handmade artificial flower making. Opening times can be erratic as it's staffed by one lovely lady. My advice is to call ahead if you want to visit and you're not a local to the area.

I would love to post a glowing review of this museum. Today, for the second time I made the 4 hour round trip to Hastings so I could appreciate the workmanship and skill that went into making these flowers. Again I checked the website in advance to be sure it would be open. For the second time when I got there it was closed. No reason, no explanation. Perhaps it has closed permanently to the public, perhaps the owner is on holiday - there is no way of knowing.

Hastings History House is a treasure trove of the town's rich past, particularly known for its pivotal role in the Battle of Hastings in 1066. This monumental event marked a turning point in English history, leading to Norman conquest and nearly two centuries of rule that transformed culture and language. With roots tracing back over a millennium, Hastings has evolved from an early medieval settlement—evidenced by archaeological finds like pottery fragments—to a vibrant resort town by the late 18th century.
What a lovely little gem stuffed full of Hastings history and British history. There are books, encyclopedias, compendium, maps photographs, artworks and old newspaper articles centuries old bursting out of the seams of the binders and folders they are kept in. This isn't the kind of place where you just pop in! Because you will be drawn in by the sheer quantity of the sources of history and the learning you will gain from them. It's run by donations only, by a couple of delightful volunteers who are more than happy to help you find what interests you. This place deserves your time and attention.. And top tip.. don't forget your reading glasses if you need them, and perhaps a magnifying glass if you have one - the ink used in a lot of old print has faded and become pale over time, and the font is very small in some texts.

We spent 2 hours doing the crazy golf course then the pirate golf course and we had so much fun. The courses are challenging enough to not be boring for bigger children and grown ups, but not so challenging that smaller children would get frustrated and give up. We came with our 6 and 14 year old and had 2 hours of family fun. Would definitely visit again!

Very cute place with 3 different mini golf courses ranging from easy, medium to hard. No wait, and wasn’t too busy. Right next to Hastings beach and near the touristy area in Old Town. We bought tickets on the spot, there was barely any wait time even though there was a few people in line before us. Bought tickets and was allowed to play anytime that day. We opted to get tickets to all the courses.

Once at the top, take some time to walk around, enjoy the fresh air, and soak in the breathtaking views of the coastline. A trip to Hastings wouldn’t be complete without trying the famous chips in Old Town—crispy, delicious, and full of flavor! Another must-do is the miniature train ride, which is a showstopper, especially for families and kids. It’s a charming way to explore the area and adds a nostalgic touch to the visit. For those looking for a bit of thrill, go-karting is an optional but exciting activity to try. Went there on a day trip from London, (easy train ride from London Bridge Station) got there around 10ish, pleasant walk through the city centre, got a nice spot at the beach to relax, enjoyed the sunny weather just chilling with friends. By lunch time we got some Fish & Chips from local restaurant (heaps of options to choose from), went on occasional walks to explore the beach (it's a fishing beach, which means lots of boats and fishing equipment along the beach). It's windy and no sand, just pebbles, which is fine, had a lovely day there and totally recommend to anyone who wants to connect with the ocean and just relax with a nice view.

A great Hastings venue. Live music, nights, and events. Set in, tucked away into America ground The Printworks offers an amazing space, with gigs to match. A well stocked, averagely priced bar. Friendly vibe. Good music. A Hastings must.👍

The B&B is an amazing space and in a great location near to the Jerwood Gallery, Hastings Pier and the Old Town. The breakfast was also really nice, and kind of our hosts, who shared the space, to accommodate some dietary requirements. The bar downstairs is audible from the bedroom until about 1AM so that's worth bearing in mind. We also managed find a place to park for free on Holmesdale Gardens, though did arrive Saturday evening.

I went during the day when the rugby was on so it was pretty quiet. However, they had gamma ray on tap and reasonably priced, this is a good thing! I know they do a lot of live stuff here, maybe it will be a 5* if I come to a gig here.

This is a hidden gem. We stayed in the guest room and it was extremely comfortable and stylish, what a treat. Ideal for the young at heart looking to experience a city break in the heart of Hastings and enjoy all of its unique creativity. We ❤️ Hastings. The breakfast was lovely too by the way. Looking forward to experiencing an evening at the printworks venue.

This is one of the best places in Hastings for live music. They serve a good selection of beers and other beverages. They do regular events such as poetry slams and acoustic nights as well as having regular live bands.

Historical landmark
Nestled along the shingle beach, The Hastings Net Shops present a striking sight with their thirty impressive wooden structures featuring pitched roofs. This remarkable fishing quarter stands out as one of the most distinctive in the UK. These Grade II listed black sheds were originally constructed to protect fishing gear from the elements before plastic became commonplace. Due to limited space on the small beach, they were ingeniously designed to rise upwards rather than spread outwards, and their tarred exteriors provide essential weather-proofing.
