Folkestone Harbour Arm is a vibrant destination offering a mix of food stands, bars, live music stages, and seasonal events. It is located opposite a pebble beach and beach boardwalk, leading to an eclectic range of small shacks serving cuisine from around the globe. Nearby, there's an outdoor cinema showcasing classic films and sports coverage throughout the year. The renowned Rocksalt Restaurant offers panoramic views over the English Channel.
Folkestone Harbour Arm is such a wonderful place! It has a very cosy and welcoming atmosphere, making it perfect for a relaxing day out with family. There are plenty of things to see and do – from beautiful views of the sea to lovely cafes and little shops to explore. We really enjoyed walking along the pier, soaking up the fresh air and peaceful vibe. It feels so charming and full of life at the same time. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Folkestone – it’s ideal for families and for anyone who loves spending time by the sea.

The Folkestone Harbour along with the Lighthouse is an iconic attraction for anyone visiting Folkestone. The place has a long history dating back in the 1900s. The photos along with the valuable information speaks a lot. The Harbour area was quite windy when we visited yesterday but Sun came out later and calmed the environment. There is an entertaining promenade with live music and food cafes along with good seating arrangements. A place worthy to visit in summer.
Khandker Q — Google review
What an amazing place to spend a few hours (or maybe a full day). Absolutely loved what had been done with a disused railway station. There are some great bars eateries, offering exceptional views across the English Channel.
Aluap B — Google review
The harbour arm has been 'done up' and is very nice. There are lots of independent small market shops and places where you can eat and drink, a bit like Christmas Market huts. There is a big outdoor TV screen fir watching sports etc. Not sure whether all this is seasonal abd just maybe weekends out of season? But there are other places such as the very nice bar by the lighthouse, and a small brewery pub that I should imagine stays open more regularly. There is also a few fair rides. The views of folkestone are lovely from here too.
Marianne — Google review
Enjoyed a lovely walk from Lower Leas car park along the promenade & boardwalk to the harbour arm. Here we stopped at the Champagne bar in the old lighthouse. Well worth a visit, nice cocktails and yummy charcuterie.
Julie H — Google review
I adore Folkestone Harbour. The views are absolutely stunning, if you're visiting Folkestone, you simply cannot miss the Harbour Arm. Plenty of independent traders offering a great range of foods and drinks, there's truly something for everyone. Lots of different events and entertainment on throughout the year... I could go on and on!

My first visit to Folkstone to explore the colorful Artist Quarter. Lovely coffee shops open on a Sunday morning, already buzzing with people! Colours of painted shop fronts were joyful and welcoming as I walked down old High Street to the Harbour. Spectacular views east to fishing fleet and chalk cliffs. Beautiful tulips planted in a memorial garden. I loved this visit to Folkstone!

I visited Folkestone and found it to be a charming seaside town with a nice mix of history, coastal views, and places to relax — the harbor area is great for a stroll, and it’s a pleasant spot to enjoy the sea atmosphere.

History Museums
Folkestone Museum offers a captivating journey through the town's history, starting from its humble beginnings as a coastal community to its glamorous era as a fashionable seaside resort. The museum's collection includes exhibits on natural history, maritime heritage, frontline artifacts, and ancient relics. A special section titled 'Fashionable Folkestone' delves into the Victorian period when the town became a popular destination for high society. Visitors can also explore the self-guided town heritage trail spanning 3.5km.
It is a very small museum that gives you a bit of an insight into what Folkestone as a town has been through in the past. The admission is free so it's especially worth visiting as you have nothing to lose and you might just learn something new ✨️

This place is really informative. Loved the clothing section and the sea exhibits. The open note on the drawers was such a fun touch, it kept the kids curious and guessing what might be inside.

Good, but not the most exciting place to visit. Took my son and he is autistic. He found it boring. And he can get excitement from watching rain.

A great museum, local history and some fun interactive bits for kids. It’s all well kept and I look forward to bringing my kids along to some of the free events one day. Amazed it’s not busier when I go. A haven in the middle of town.

The Lower Leas Coastal Park is a picturesque coastal park divided into three zones: a natural area, formal gardens, and an adventure activity zone. It's conveniently located near the mile-long cliff-top promenade of The Leas, offering stunning sea views to France. Visitors can enjoy picnics or BBQs on the beach and explore the Folkestone Harbour Arm for diverse food, drinks, and entertainment options.
I absolutely adore this place! It's truly a remarkable spot. The beach is one of my favorites in Kent, with its mix of stones and sand and gentle waves. The playground, which is currently being updated, is already excellent and provides endless fun for the kids. Plus, there’s a wonderful café that the whole family enjoys, serving delicious treats and refreshments. It's the perfect destination for a day out!

Beautiful, unusual, fabulous park, you can enjoy a coffee and on a hot day eat ice cream, you can just walk in this beautiful park. If you haven't been there, you should visit it, it looks like some exotic place.
Anastasiia V — Google review
Absolutely spectacular! Speechless! ❤️ it was such nice weather, and the view was breathtaking. If you want a long walk, that's the place to go. My new favourite place.
Andra E — Google review
A lovely path along the coast. It has a nice picnic area with a beautiful garden. It offers scenic views as the water peeks through the trees. Although, some of the steps were closed therefore you might find yourself walking a little further before you can find access to the top. We love the idea that you have options to walk right along the pebbles on the beach, or by the concrete path, or through the linear park lined with trees such as pines.
Faith 2 — Google review
Well maintained park with a network of clearly marked footpaths, family friendly play areas and coastal views over the English Channel. Plenty of benches, toilet facilities and easy access from nearby paid parking areas make it a convenient green place to spend some time amongst green space. It's also accessible from the upper Leas via unusual landscaped cliff paths, with grottos built into the false Pulhamite "rock". The park leads out to a beach side promenade, passing brightly coloured beach huts and art installations before arriving at Folkestone Harbour, home to a striking modern apartment building and a selection of cafés and bars.
Andrew T — Google review

The Battle of Britain Memorial in Capel-le-Ferne, Kent, offers an interactive experience at the Scramble Experience exhibition, bringing to life the aviation history of the area. Visitors can immerse themselves in a moving film depicting the lives of The Few during the summer of 1940 and engage in hands-on activities such as simulating shooting down enemy aircraft from a mock-up Hurricane.
I was lucky to have a guided tour, the scramble experience, and a cream tea at the memorial bought for my birthday. Our ex forces guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The venue has a special atmosphere that only by going there you can appreciate. It's a fitting memorial to mark the brave young men and women who faced overwhelming odds by the Nazi's in 1940. Be aware that you have to pay to park (even if you have pre booked the tour). It's definitely worth a visit.
Bill K — Google review
A beautiful memorial to a sad time. The main part of the museum is basic but free. You can go outside and see the spitfires, aircraft pilot statue and memorial wall. I'd definitely recommend paying the small fee for "The scramble" which is a collection of information about the lead up to the battle of Britain and first hand stories. It also offers some dress up items and a simulator where you're a hurricane pilot. It also had a very moving film which is played every 30 minutes or so and everything else turns off, which I personally thought was great. Overall a great testament to those who gave their lives during that time. We also visited the shop, which was fairly priced and had some lovely things in. We paid a visit to the cafe, also reasonably priced, the cake was delicious and even though the weather was similar to a monsoon the views were beautiful.
Sam S — Google review
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. Very thought provoking and ever grateful to the few. Easy car parking with cash at the machine or inside the visitor centre for cards. Nice cafe upstairs with stunning views, coffee wasn't the best I've tasted but the tea and cake were good and served by pleasant staff and all quite affordable. Easy to walk the grounds and join the coastal path east towards Dover should you wish.
BT — Google review
Lovely memorial to all the very brave men who fought to protect their King and Country. There is one particular statue which is of a pilot looking out to sea, waiting for his friends to return, very sad, very poignant. There is nice visitors center. Plenty of parking. Free entry.
Marianne — Google review
A beautiful tribute to pilots and aircrew who fought in the Battle of Britain. The Scramble Experience is well worth the small entry fee with lots of modern interactive displays and a basic flight simulator that is great fun. On site cafe is pretty good, gluten free cake available and a selection of non barista (i.e from a machine) drinks
Phil B — Google review
Absolutely loved monument to the few, very beautiful. You only need ttickets for the scramble experience (we didn't do that). Lots of other things to see around the memorial, and with the right weather beautiful views, making the monument even more moving. Wonderful gift shop, with a lot of selection
KIRSTY G — Google review
I recently visited the Battle of Britain Memorial and really enjoyed it — the place is full of fascinating history about the fighter planes and the pilots, and the site itself offers beautiful views that make the visit both moving and memorable.
Wasin S — Google review
What a Great Memorial, dedicated to the brave fighter pilots, it's Free as well, unless you do the scramble experience, which was £7 an adult, which I highly recommend, dogs are welcome in the grounds, but not the building as there is a cafeteria in there, really glad we visited.

Sunny Sands in Folkestone is a bustling beach area that offers swimming, kayak rentals, sunbathing, and local seafood shacks. This small but perfectly formed sandy haven features brick alcove constructions for refuge from sudden rain and a long promenade for leisurely strolls. Situated next to the town and harbor, it provides both commercial amenities and picturesque views of boats coming in and out of the harbor.
Love this place. You can sit peacefully on the sand and watch the harbour arm from the beach, a very nice kiosk near the beach where you can buy drinks, ice creams and beach accessories for children. Just remember to check the tide times as the beach disappears during high tides
Aga S — Google review
A nice sandy beach, with toilets available and a cafe. Also very close by you have ice cream, seafood and fish and chips. No parking near the beach but plenty of parking around with a small walk. Life guards during busy periods. What more do you want from a day at the beach.
Donna M — Google review
Nice sunny beach but best to check tide levels and avoid going peak hours on weekends. Plenty of parking available then.
Puchu — Google review
One of our favorite sandy beach to go to, have visited couple of times this summer. The vibes, not too much crowded which is best, calm and nice sandy beach to go with kids.
Ruby S — Google review
A beautiful day out but really struggled with finding parking for non-residents till we found the big car park by the Harbour. Stony beach and plenty of space for children to play and run around. A lovely sunny day so we managed to enjoy some dip in the clear blue water beach which was lovely. When it came time to have dinner most places in the food court had run out of fish and chicken so be sure to get there early so you’re not disappointed. There are a variety of food vendors so a mix of cuisine from traditional British to Korean, Mexican, American etc. Toilet facilities available by the beach and food court area which are clean.

Amazing beach! However, it’s best to visit after 2.00 pm when the tide goes out, as it’s very crowded and space is limited before then. Allow extra time for parking — it’s chaotic to find a space and the fees are quite expensive.

Amazing show from Queenz at the Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone. Great service from the venue, staff all very polite and a fun night to be had.
David W — Google review
We went to see Alan Davies and have never been here before. Staff were super friendly, nothing was too much trouble, location was clean and everything very clearly laid out. Prices were more than reasonable and everything ran smoothly. Parking was clearly marked out and its a short walk to the location. If I had to fault anything is coming out was a bit chaotic but that's because everyone left at the same time and it was a bit squashed, however there is nothing they can do about that! We will 100% be back and so grateful we had such an amazing evening ❤️
Jessica S — Google review
Great theatre. Easy parking with a tunnel walkway that leads straight into the theatre! Snacks and drinks available in the cafe and there are several bar areas that open during the interval and if course, just before the show. The cafe only takes cards. Plenty of toilets and it is wheelchair accessible.

Rocksalt Restaurant offers a chic and modern dining experience with floor-to-ceiling glass and a terrace overlooking the harbor. Chef James Pearce, previously from nearby Rocksalt, showcases the best of Kent's seafood on the menu. Diners can enjoy Blackwater Estuary oysters prepared in various ways, along with an array of snacks to complement their natural-leaning wine list. The mains feature delectable options such as monkfish with white miso or cod in vodka batter.
Right on the harbour in Folkestone, Rocksalt Restaurant has a stunning location. The blue of the sea in the website photo is no exaggeration - certainly not on the day we were there anyway. With the glass doors pulled wide open, we had a beautiful view of the harbour. Public parking was conveniently available over the road from the restaurant. We found the service to be friendly and efficient, perhaps a bit slow towards the end, but the restaurant had got busier by that time. It is a very popular place. The food and drink was very good. We all had different dishes and we all enjoyed the food a lot. The bill for five of us - and most of us had three courses - came in at about £50 a head including service.
J B — Google review
Amazing food with a view. The fish and chips is amazing, huge portions, the tartar sauce and the mushy mint peas very delicious. The staff very friendly and the price is low for the quality you get. The view of the harbour is absolutely amazing even though it was low tide when we were there. Definitely will go again when in the area.
Anamaria C — Google review
Lunch yesterday was (as usual) absolutely faultless! Food is a gastronomic delight - fish so fresh, it almost swims onto your plate and all served by friendly, polished and attentive staff. Warm and lively atmosphere and the setting is, even on a dull afternoon, breathtaking. Special mention to Lazlo, one of the restaurant managers, whose friendly and professional manner wouldn't be out of place in a London 5* restaurant. Thank you for making our day!
Kim H — Google review
My family used to live in Folkestone about 8 years ago, and my parents went to Rocksalt a couple of times back then and found the service slow and unhelpful, and the food of mediocre quality. Returning last week, we found that not much had changed. We were greeted by a young server who showed us to our table and took our drinks order - she was pleasant, but did not know much about the drinks options (we later saw others with cocktails, though this was not an option given to us; she also wasn't aware of the spirits options). I don't blame her as she was clearly young and inexperienced, but her lack of training and knowledge reflects very badly on the restaurant, especially as she was the first face we saw. We were also placed at a table right next to the door, where a chilly breeze was blowing in, and despite the restaurant being half empty our request to be moved was denied (several tables remained empty until we left a couple hours later). This was baffling and did not set a great tone for the night. The presentation of the food was very prettily done, and the fish was very fresh, but for the prices, the dishes themselves are very average - nice enough, but nothing special or exciting. We had come to Rocksalt for my sister's birthday, but other than a "happy birthday" at the door, no effort was made to make the night feel special - no rapport with the staff, no recommendations of dishes. When the meal finally ended, they brought out a plate with "happy birthday" written in chocolate sauce and a single, tiny scoop of raspberry sorbet. They hadn't even bothered to add her name (or even ask for it), nor inquire at any point what sort of flavours she might like (she doesn't like raspberry and would've honestly preferred a simpler flavour like vanilla or chocolate). A very poor performance, considering the supposed calibre of the restaurant. Overall, disappointing but not surprising. I'm honestly astounded at how many good reviews this place has, considering that amongst Folkestone natives and locals it is regularly avoided.
Dora W — Google review
My husband & I had a Sunday roast. I had belly of pork cooked to perfection my husband had beef. Everything was delicious. The service was efficient, professional and polite. We throughly enjoyed our visit and food would definitely recommend.
Vicky D — Google review
Unfortunately food was very bland and cold, very expensive, and we waited 1.5 hours for the food to be brought out. No one asked us how the food was, otherwise we would have told them, but started eating as we were so hungry. Beautiful view and good location though. Overall, massive disappointment - should have checked the review before hand, as recently they have received many reviews similar to mine. Advice, go somewhere else - you'll get much better food at a fraction of the price.

Location is beautiful - such amazing views across the Channel. The food was delicious - we had the scallops and prawns to start, the lemon sole and the skate and then the fondant for dessert - I’d highly recommend them all. The atmosphere is perfect which a luxurious yet relaxed dining experience. Personally, I loved how accommodating they were to our toddler. An amazing child’s menu but the staff were also just so helpful - Emma was absolutely wonderful. Thank you for such a lovely evening; we can’t wait to come back!

We had booked a big important birthday family celebration for 10. Having been to the restaurant before, we were looking forward to the a la carte dining in front of the panoramic windows with top notch food and service, as always, at a seafood restaurant. I called the restaurant to book, confirmed my credit card for the reservation. When we arrived, we were seated outside the main restaurant in ‘the garden’ which offered us drinks in paper cups and a limited bbq menu. A completely different vibe to what we expected and had hoped for. I spoke to the staff and explained this and asked for their help to elevate the experience. There was no space indoors in the main restaurant. We had agreed that they would swap out paper cups for proper glass and that we would be able to order from the a la carte desert menu at the end of the meal. Not perfect, but a possible solution. Here are some of the issues which occurred after this: - the cups (which were also flying everywhere in the wind) were not swapped out till I spoke to the staff again 40 mins later - the cutlery was placed on the table in a chewed up Tupperware box and stayed there through the meal - the food which we largely enjoyed, came out at completely different times which we weren’t warned about - the kids’ cheeseburger didn’t have any cheese - most people had finished their mains when the kids’ hot dog and sides finally arrived - from an order of three drinks (wine and two beers) only two arrived - the table next to us had ordered from the a la carte menu despite us being told that we could only have bbq mains - the waitress/manager came up to apologise and offer us drinks, but did it very loudly and to the whole table. I had tried to address all issues with the staff away from the table not to break up some sense of celebration and wished she had offered us the same courtesy I can see the staff were trying, but the bbq kitchen could clearly not come with a large table. The staff were pleasant but not completely experienced. We did get a bottle of wine and a couple of beers on the house as a gesture, but sadly it didn’t give us back any semblance of the experience we were expecting and had the pleasure of having in the past.

Parks
East Cliff and Warren Country Park offers a diverse landscape for nature enthusiasts. The park features a mix of cliffs, beaches, and terraced habitats shaped by centuries of landslips. The Warren, part of the park, is a Site of Special Scientific Interest with rich biodiversity including 150 bird species and 330 types of moth. Visitors can explore the heavily wooded undercliff area or walk along the coast to enjoy desolate beauty and stunning views.
Folkestone East Cliff and Warren is a beautiful and diverse country park that offers stunning views of the White Cliffs, a rich wildlife, and a fascinating geology. Whether you want to enjoy a relaxing picnic on the lawn, explore the rugged landscape of The Warren, or discover the fossils and rock pools on the beach, there is something for everyone here. The park is also home to three historic Martello Towers and a variety of trails that showcase the seasonal changes in nature. Folkestone East Cliff and Warren is a must-visit for anyone who loves nature, history, and adventure.

Every trip to the Warren you make, you'll find some really great treasures! A beautiful area and a must visit for anyone who hasn't been here yet! Just be careful if you drive your car down the access road, as there's lots of potholes.
Anna L — Google review
Large nature reserve with an atmospheric secluded beach overlooking the channel. The area was formed by coastal erosion meeting waterlogged mudstone and slumping cliffs. Stand long enough by the mud bank and it's possible to see the ground moving. The Gault clay over Greensand geology is one of the best places in the area for fossil hunting. At one time the Warren was a popular tourist attraction with its own railway station halt, but is now a much wilder environment. Some of the paths can be very muddy in winter so it's worth bringing decent walking boots. Be prepared for a steep climb if you're following the zig zag path up the cliffs to the coastal path. Extensive concrete sea defences have been installed to protect the railway line. These provide a long flat walkway by the sea, though do detract a little from the natural beauty.

Probably the best beach in Kent. The more you walk under the cliffs the better it gets. Its secluded, hardly visited, miles of sandy beaches that gradually slip into the sea. Clean clear water and perfect swimming

Folkestone Harbour is a picturesque location with a cantilevered restaurant offering stunning views of the English Channel. The area is known for its seasonal and local produce, particularly from the South Coast of Kent. The harbor features a charming marina with fishing boats and trawlers, making it an iconic image of Folkestone. Visitors can enjoy various dining options, from champagne in the Lighthouse bar to street food stalls offering diverse cuisines.
Very lively seaside town with lots of creative vibes. Nice seafood and lots of places to eat in the harbour- it’s like marketplace, near a nice beach and creative shops. Also a nice seaside park area for a walk and picturesque photos. You can park for free for 2 hours near the park entrance. Great for a day out.

Absolutely charming seaside town with a perfect blend of heritage and modern flair. The Harbour Arm is a highlight—great food stalls, live music, and atmosphere right by the sparkling sea. I loved strolling along the Leas promenade and catching glimpses of France across the Channel. Folkestone’s Creative Quarter adds a lovely artistic touch, with cool galleries, quirky cafés and a relaxed vibe. With its vibrant public art, scenic parks, and welcoming feel, this is a hidden gem on the Kent coast!

We visited Folkestone Harbour the night before catching a ferry to Europe and were really pleasantly surprised. It’s a vibrant, welcoming spot with plenty to do – from quirky bars and cosy eateries to a fun crazy golf course, a stone beach, and a children’s playground. The harbour area is beautifully designed, with lovely views out to sea and a relaxed atmosphere that makes it perfect for socialising or simply soaking it all in. It’s a great place to spend a few hours, whether you’re passing through or making it your main destination. A fantastic way to spend quality time before heading across the Channel – highly recommend!

A nice little venue. I saw Zoe Lyons and James Ellis, both of whom were brilliant, and the layout makes the space nicely intimate. I will definitely be back.

Good venue. They open the doors to the foyer early so those at the front get to queue indoors. There is also a bar in the foyer that is open, allowing people to get a drink before going into the hall. Sound and lighting were good, but it got very hot, so it could do with some air conditioning.

The Lighthouse Champagne Bar, located at Folkestone Harbour Arm, has been sympathetically restored and transformed into a charming champagne bar with stunning views of the seafront, harbor, and coast. Whether you're enjoying a cold glass of champagne and a platter of oysters on a summer's day or bundled up warmly to take in the view on a wintry day, The Lighthouse is an ideal spot for savoring the ambiance.
The staff here is friendly, and the atmosphere is very welcoming. The coffee and food are quite good, with the freshly made crepes being especially delicious and not overly sweet—perfect for breakfast. Additionally, the view is enjoyable and relaxing.

Cozy little place with nice selection of beer and champagne, coffee and hot chocolate are nothing too special. I think they could benefit from making their hot chocolate and coffee just a tad bit better, maybe using a different chocolate powder or learning some simple latte art. It’ll just elevate the feel a little. Friendly staff though! Really nice selection of music which adds to the vibe

Arrived Shown to table that had old food residue on it. Given menus to look at the menus had food waste on them. We ordered two crepes, both were ludicrously crispy in texture and the knife wouldn't cut it. Well, it was Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday, so of course service was a tad slow! But they were friendly so that helps. Note: I went back the next day, so it must have been good. Fabulous venue. A very long comfy bench in the SHADE thank God and rugs and cushions available if needed. I moved into the sun to feel the early evening sun on my back. Bliss. They did a Bucks fizz for £8.50 which I remember being charged for at Kettners in Soho YEARS ago, so very good value. The champagne cocktails were a bit steep at £13. 50, but the peach one was yum - so sip slowly!!!!! And how often anyway do you drink them in the UK, just down the road with sun and sea and free music and a glorious atmosphere. So may be good value at the price, aye? Back to Tuesday with a bump.

Kingsnorth Gardens is a meticulously maintained public park featuring a blend of Italianate, Oriental, and English garden styles. The extensive rose garden, pergolas, ponds with fountains and wildlife like ducks and water lilies make it an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll or a relaxing picnic. While lacking restroom facilities, the park offers plenty of benches to sit and admire the beautiful landscape. Visitors can also enjoy catching glimpses of newts and other creatures in the fountain ponds.
Beautiful gardens, not far from the railway station. You can actually hear the trains a bit when you're sitting here. Some little robin gave me company when I was relaxing on a bench.

On a recent visit to Folkestone and on my way to Hythe, my route took me through these peaceful gardens. A combination of water features many beds, which no doubt would be an explosion of colour and fragrance if we had visited a few months later, but nevertheless, the early flowering shrubs and helibores were still an attractive sight.

I had a quiet morning, but with the lovely birdsong in the background, wandering through the gardens and admiring the beautiful blossoms. Kingsnorth Gardens is beautifully laid out in different sections and I am always interested in the wildlife in the ponds and the water lilies. There were some yellow irises today and a solitary duck swimming around in the water. It is nice to relax with a picnic with friends and family. There are no restrooms. One can have a picnic but no barbecues. There isn't a playground but there are benches where one can relax and enjoy the surroundings. The staff work very hard to keep the garden tidy and plant blossoms for each season. The garden flower beds are now being prepared for the Autumn and Winter season. There are still Butterflies enjoying the Roses.

Zig Zag Path is a picturesque walkway that leads from The Leas Cliff to Mermaid Beach in Folkestone. This path features secret grottos, seats carved into the rock face, and blue and white pottery shards embedded in the Pulhamite, a cement made from waste material. Built in the 1920s by unemployed men, it offers stunning views of caves and rock formations along with beautiful trees. Visitors can enjoy resting spots while taking in the breathtaking scenery.
Such an interesting point to enjoy walk down to the beach specifically for kids. It stretched over an area approximately 160 feet high and just as wide. It provides you a platform for very scenic views while going down. After the First WWI, many soldiers returned from the battlefield and faced unemployment in Great Britain. British government attempted to deal with this problem was to develop a number of public work schemes across the country and one of them was construction of the Zigzag Path in the leas area. It began in 1921 and mobilized hundreds of local war veterans to build a new ornamental feature in the Lower Leas Coastal Park.
Win T — Google review
A Refreshingly Different Experience at Zig Zag Path, Folkestone This was one of my more unique experiences. While there isn’t much in terms of attractions or activities, the walk itself — through the zig-zag path — offers a new dimensional view that makes it quite special. The design of the path is a beautiful piece of functional art, filled with informative plaques and thoughtful architecture that blends into nature. The real highlight is the view from the top — it’s peaceful and scenic, especially for those who enjoy slow, mindful walks. It's a great spot if you're looking for something quiet and offbeat to explore in Folkestone.

Gorgeous walking path down to the shoreline. It felt like walking through a botanical garden with all the different plants and flowers around. There is a coffee stand at the bottom, as well as public toilets. There are also benches carved into the rocks along the way which you can stop and rest on.

The Zig Zag walk in Folkestone is a fantastic scenic walk placed between the Leas Cliff Hall and the Band Stand. It offers wonderful coastal views and consists of different paths with caves and grottoes leading down to the seafront and the Lower Leas Coastal Park. Originally built in the 1800s to ferry bath chairs between The Leas and the beach, The Zig Zag path has been restored beyond its original beauty as part of the Award Winning Coastal Park Development.

The area also provides access to Lyminge village and its ancient church, as well as the popular Elham Valley Way.
Situated on Cheriton Hill, you can park your car at the view point on Crete Road and you are on the top of the horse. Looking down you can see the Folkestone Tunnel Terminal. For a good sight of the horse we walked down the hill. Walking boots recommended. Beautiful views all around.

Herman D — Google review
We came to see the trains , the eurotunnel, and it was a great vantage point.
Loes — Google review
Parked on the road above, in a decent-sized layby, probably enough room for 10 cars. Entered the area through the gate with my son and wandered down the steep bank. If the ground has any moisture then it's going to be slippy, so a dry day would be best for this route! We went slightly lower than the horse to get a decent view and then wandered around it to get a close-up view. It's a great design but is obscured from the M20 by the Euro Tunnel complex.

Absolutely fantastic tapas restaurant! ALL of the staff were incredible and even helped me embarrass my partner, by getting the whole restaurant to sing happy birthday to him (at my request) Cannot fault the food or service, best tapas we have had in a long time, and my partner is Spanish! We had an amazing couple of visits here recently on a holiday to Folkestone. Extremely friendly staff and an excellent set of dishes and drink options. They were amazing at helping when I experienced a diabetic hypo and also in amending the specials so that I could have them with my vegan diet (and there were a lot of choices on the menu for vegan diets!). My mother is gluten free and had plenty of options on the menu. We visited for a dinner and also at lunch time. There’s an excellent atmosphere and it’s located in a vibrant and safe environment. What made our trip special was the staff - they were beyond amazing and I can’t wait to go back next visit.

Very awful experience and those who are against racism please avoid these place as they serve food by seeing your skin colour and not by their hotel reservations. The guy (middle aged wears specs) as he desperately didn’t allow me to have food in this place. This was my story as I walked into the restaurant on Saturday afternoon around 1pm and the place wasn’t too busy as I can see empty tables around and the guy who was standing near the till told me that they can’t serve me and said that it’s fully booked for the day and I asked him if I can have takeaway and he still refused saying that they don’t have license to serve takeaway food. He was trying to make me leave the place as I was just asking when is the best time to book for reservations and he said that he is not sure and ignored me. As I can see empty tables there I came out of the restaurant and called the restaurant number from google and asked them if I can bookings for two persons and the lady staff said yes and offered me a table within half an hour. This was my experience and I was really offended by the guy’s behaviour

Stunning book cafe in a beautiful street in one of the most charming towns in England. Friendly staff and good customer service. However the place is too busy, loud and feels a bit cramped. I was happy to finally visit the Steep Street Coffee House. I like the decor with all the books around the rooms. Customers can buy books if they find one that interests them. I found the place a bit cramped and it is a busy place. It is a dog friendly establishment but some people might feel uncomfortable if there are too many pets around. We had a lovely hello from one little dog which didn't disturb us. The coffees, chocolate cake and lemoncream croissant were delicious. I certainly would like to try more of the pastries, etc on another visit. The service was good and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Nice coffee but the "goat's cheese tart" was not good - was just pastry with a bit of dry bubbled egg on top (less than one forkful's worth) and some onion marmalade, not at all what I expected for £6-odd. The quiche was a bit bland but better after adding salt, not worth £8-odd. The brownie was ok but the corner piece they gave me was tiny. Nobody asked if we enjoyed. They were about 60% full. Shame because the vibe is lovely.

The fact that the place is always full and there is a long queue tells you everything you need to know about the quality of drinks/food and service. Suitable for a quick take-away, a study session or a catch-up with friends, the Steep Street Coffee House is a staple in Folkestone and we have been coming here for years. Only a 5min walk away from the sea, 10mins from the bus station and surrounded by craft, clothing and music shops it is a perfect place for a cup of coffe and a bite to eat.

The interior boasts ancient charm and historical significance, featuring stained glass windows by renowned artists such as Kempe and Henning.
Beautiful church! Went specifically for the Translation of St Eanswythe.

A gorgeous old church hidden and often overlooked in the heart of Folkestone. The building is beautiful with some stunning glass windows. Also it has a very interesting history.

A pretty church on the edge of the town center. The staff are friendly and are happy to tell you all about the church's history. They have regular concerts there, often with an excellent choir.

Beautiful church, so quiet and peaceful. I was allowed to just exist in a chapel on my own while a few people were attending a service on the other side. I really appreciated them understanding my need to be alone in a safe space.
Neen S — Google review
Although I haven't visited this church for years, it was a VERY special place to seek some tranquillity in the chaos of modern Folkestone. I lived in The Metropole, on The Lee's, for almost 32 months...and regularly sought out this church for quiet contemplation. Wonderful sense of history and you will feel that you are in a precious and beautiful place. The attached picture belongs to another poster. Hellie Reumkens. I have changed the orientation to the correct perspective and have informed Google Maps about Hellie's photographic problem. Quite why it wasn't corrected before is a puzzle?

The Pilot Beach Bar, located on the western side of the Harbour Arm, offers a refreshing stop after a stroll along Marine Parade and Folkestone's beachfront promenade. Housed in a shipping container, this bar features various craft beer taps including offerings from Kernel and Beavertown. The outdoor area provides a picturesque setting with tables, deckchairs, and seats overlooking the pebbled beach and sea.
Popped in for a quick drink and snacks; the FLOC ale was fantastic, and the cod cheeks and chips were lovely, my daughter couldn't help but pinch one of cod cheeks. Managed to bag seats inside, was pretty busy out in the beer 'garden', with plenty of family's and well behaved dogs too. One of my favourite spots in Folkestone, especially if you're visiting the beach or harbourarm.

I like the concept of the shop, a container turned into a cafe with good views. They also have a recycling scheme more for alcoholic n drinks. In addition, they have old kegs as chair for the indoor seating. There two lads on shift and they were polite and interacted as needed. Can't wait to visit again but more specifically in the summer. Reasonable prices and a very good chilled vibe
Mark N — Google review
Lovely experience being on the sea front & part of "The Arm". Love what they've done with the old fairground ride kit, very ept. Prices however are a bit steep for what it is, a reused shipping container done up. Feedback - would have been nice to have glasses instead of plastic beakers. Wasn't asked if we were going outside, therefore assuming plastic (disposable, non recycled) cups were the only option. I hope they are recycled. Jovial & fun for tourists, prices need to drop & glasses to be offered for us to return though.

Good beach bar. Lots of choices for drinks. It was busy when we went as the sunshine 🌞 was about. However, service was slow as there was only one server.
G B — Google review
Stopped by for a quick drink. Love the quirky decor (bumper cars, etc.) on the pebble beach out front. Staff were quick and friendly. Didn't try any food, so I can not comment on that, but for obvious reasons, the drinks are served in plastic cups (not glass). A great sound system gives it a good atmosphere.
Bill K — Google review
Really lovely coffee and hot chocolate, the interior is interesting with a really nice beach vibe. Loving the seating that looks out to the beach and sea. The music they play here works extremely well too. Definitely a place to visit in Folkstone for drinks. Would have been nice to have maybe a selection of cake with the coffees but not a major loss.

Really nice hot chocolate, works well if you’re visiting in winter. Great interior, friendly staff, wonderful view for what it is. It’s quite interesting that it used to be a shipping container. Also the music choices were pretty good, so you enjoy your time there with quality music.
Nuran B — Google review
They don't mix the cocktails so it's a layer of rum followed by sugary ginger beer and finished off with pure lime juice. Still not completely awful thanks to the view and comfy seating. Just ask them to mix the cocktails.

Folkestone Harbour Train Station, a historic coastal station that operated from 1849 to 2014, has been lovingly restored in recent years. Although it no longer serves trains, visitors can stroll along the tracks and platforms adorned with neon signs and sculptures. The station played a significant role in rail-sea-rail connections to mainland Europe for over a century. Today, it hosts special events like the annual Christmas market and features art installations and dining establishments while preserving its rich history.
Lovely, historical landmark that has been maintained for people to enjoy. They've made it even more special this year by adding a few Christmas reindeer. I love the train carriages turned into restaurants, I can't wait to eat there! A unique gem.
Amy G — Google review
Beautifully restored railway station which opened in 1850 and saw services until 2009. The last train to use the station was a Venice Simplon Orient Express service, and after this the station fell into disrepair. Following an extensive restoration, it reopened in 2018. The curved platforms and canopies capture the spirit of the station in its heyday, while visitor attractions have developed around the station to serve tourists. Information boards are provided, along with sculptures honouring the station's role in WW2. The signal box was repurposed as a café for a few years, and toilet facilities are available. Though trains no longer serve the station, it is one of Folkestone's more interesting sites, connecting the harbour and beach.
Andrew T — Google review
I adore what has been done with this old station - respecting its history but regenerating the area with artwork and restaurant/bars. The branch and station closed to regular passenger train services in 2001 although they were used by the Venice-Simplon Orient Express (VSOE) and railtours until 2009. During the First World War, Folkestone Harbour was one of the main ports of arrival and departure for servicemen and medical personnel. So many soldiers left from Folkestone Harbour that it became known as the ‘gateway to the trenches’. Very sad to think that for those who never returned, the train journey to this station was their last view of home. The area also now hosts a vibrant weekly Sunday market full of independent traders selling an eclectic mix of vintage, retro & artisan goods and produce. Well worth a visit!
David S — Google review
What a delight to see the regeneration of Folkestone. The pedestrianised old train station has been wonderfully preserved leading you towards the beach!

This was our first visit in a long while. Our visit was on a cold Monday morning in January, so all outlets on the harbour arm were closed. We did manage coffee and cake in the former signal box, but that cafe is now closed. It really was TOO small for a cafe!

Luben's Pizza has made a significant mark in Folkestone as the pioneer of vegan cheese on their pizzas, offering a unique saucy texture rather than the traditional stretchy kind. For those craving more plant-based options, they also provide vegan pepperoni sourced from local favorite Sister Seitan. Beyond pizza, Luben delights with a rich vegan mac n cheese and an inventive salad that goes beyond basic greens.
My family and I had an Amazing evening at Luben’s Pizza!! We got a selection of pizza’s and a pasta Carbonara dish! Everything was delicious! There is such variety in the menu in terms of food and also a variety of alcoholic drinks. We have eaten at Luben’s countless times and never had a bad experience here!! The staff are lovely, making sure all our dishes were to our liking, as well as being accommodating to our dietary requirements (requesting alterations with a chosen dish)!! The atmosphere is lively and has a well-decorated interior.

Had huge expectations from the wonderful reviews but was displeased by the experience. Pizzas were burnt at the bottom although we ordered Napolitana pizza which should not be that charred. My little one ordered Mac & cheese and that came in piping hot skillet but centre if the dish was absolutely chilled.. we sent it back and it came back with stretchy cheese. Did not like the taste of the food at all. Have had pizza in multiple places all around the world and wasn’t impressed with this one. Their loo’s have such interesting taps.. unfinished raw lol dont know if thats a style or just cost cutting. Thank you so much for your service.

Popped in with my wife for lunch. Lovely surroundings and very good service. The waitress was really friendly and nice. The pizza was great and the mac and cheese very good. Smashing coffee too. Please open a branch in Sidcup

Their pizza has a truly Italian style, which I really liked. I did feel it was a little overcooked — slightly too burnt for my taste — but it was still authentically Italian. The tiramisu was delicious! The only real disappointment was the long wait; we had to wait about 50 minutes for the pizza. The good news is that it was half-price today, so that helped make up for it.
Steven W — Google review
Did the bottomless pizza+beer. 10/10 experience. Pizzas are huge. Rapid service. You’re allowed half/half pizzas too. Never an empty glass. Even offered to wrap up our leftovers to take away. Will be booking again very soon - definitely worth it.

Pizzas (4 of ours) were burnt and smelled really bad, but they did not accept it and said it is normal!!! The veggie with humus came without humus and they said ee ran out of humus! Also the kid’s pasta was FULL of tomato sauce!

Had pizzas here after a couple of 2 for 1 cocktails at Rocksalt on a Thursday between 5 and 7pm. The pizzas here have got to be some of the best I've had. The dough is sourdough and was cooked to perfection in the 400c pizza oven. Service was superb as we expected to be waiting for a while as there was a large corporate party in at the same time with 50 or so diners! Great place, great people, will do it again. Wonderful beach away from the (relative) hustle and bustle of Folkestone proper. Long pebble beach with good swimming. Normally very quiet, great for dog walkers - some restrictions apply - and just enjoying the views out to France. The Boathouse cafe is the jewel in the crown in my opinion. And Sandgate high street right next door with more good options.

This is a truly beautiful place. Lovely walk along the very popular beach path. Very relaxing with the sound of the sea and wildlife across the road. The beach itself is pebbly and it's a popular fishing spot. It used to be free parking along the length of the road, but the council recently introduced parking tarrifs and installed parking meters as they have to spoil everything!

Beautiful pebble beach which stretches all across from Folkstone (although classed as separate beaches). It's very relaxing to sit on the shore and enjoy the sound of the waves rolling in and the wind rushing by. Very good for families and it looks like some areas are dog friendly and others you are allowed barbeques.

Fantastic food and wonderful service from a great team! Had read the excellent reviews online and was excited to eat here and it didn't disappoint! From the moment we entered our waitress was over with a warming reception of the drinks on offer and reccomendend the wines by the glass (the red rjoca was great!) And continued her lovely demeanor throughout evening and even gave us her reccomendendations for around folkestone. On top of this the food was all amazing and such high quality all presented with serious skill! The eels and beetroot salad were a surprising winner and such fresher than anything we have had before. We also had the olives, bread, croquettes, seabass and profiteroles to finish and enjoyed them all. The food was also very good value for the quality and service. Would have a must dine for anyone and particularly foodies visiting folkestone

Amazing. It's a bit like being invited round to a top chef's house for dinner. Small, homely atmosphere and you're greeted like old friends. Very limited menu of two things per course so only go if you're not picky, in sense that you eat a limited number of things. But do go if you're picky in the sense that you know really good food when you taste it. The food was incredible. Every single item of food was so elevated, it's hard to explain. The best example I can offer is that I've never had a tomato that tasted so tomatey. If that makes no sense, I can't help you. The wine was great, we tried the fizz and the picpoul and both were spot on. And then there was the creme brule. The absolute highlight.
Jo W — Google review
Went with partner last night. Very well-cooked food, presented nicely with generous portions. This is proper cooking by chefs who know what they're doing. A nice atmosphere and lovely front-of-house serving rounds it off. You pay for what you get, but even so it's fair value for money. The other restaurant I know in Folkestone is Rocksalt - that's a good place, with good food, but even so I think Folkestone wine is a cut above, based on last night's experience.
Michael S — Google review
Food was excellent, lovely restaurant and very cosy, but the service felt rushed. The FOA seemed stressed and it rubbed off on us from the get go. The service matters just as much as the food when you’re paying this money for a meal and we felt like a nuisance. Later my partner had to get up and ask for our bread so we could eat it with our starter. This place do a lot of things right so it was a bit disappointing. We enjoyed our meal anyway

The Elham Valley Line Trust Countryside Centre & Railway Museum was established in 1987 by a dedicated group of local volunteers aiming to preserve the history of the Elham Valley Railway. This railway line, operational from Canterbury to Folkestone from 1887 to 1947, holds significant historical value. The museum offers an interactive and informative experience for visitors, including a working Signal box and an exhibition on the Channel Tunnel.
Amazing place, would describe it as a hidden gem. If you are looking for a great day out, and something on a budget definitely the place to go. Has amazing areas for the children to play, walks to take with added information about the area on the way. The museum is fantastic, informative and interactive which is great for children (I had a 4 and 10 year old, both entertained). You can choose to spend money, (not a lot) but there are free or donation activities. Staff were polite and friendly with young people helping out, who were a delight to interact with and I was impressed with their knowledge. Genuinely left everyone having a great time, without the worry or disappointment that you had to break the bank to enjoy it.

This is a lovely little place to come and visit. Nice cafe and barn. The Elham train museum is very interesting. The original train layout showing how the tunnel terminal at Cheriton would take cars and freight before the tunnel was completed is amazing. The last time I saw this was 27 years ago when tunnel was being constructed. The first sod dug up by Sir George Russell in 1884 with spade and barrow is unbelievable for the construction of the Elham railway. This place is a must to visit without mentioning the sit on miniature railway for kids. Brilliant.

The food is amazing! The best burger I've had in a long time, and don't get me started on the green sauce. I'll start with an big positive, the green sauce cheesy fries are absolutely amazing, really good. However, the burgers we had were very mediocre, incredibly soft, all the same texture, desperately needed some sort of crunch or even a toasted bun would help. The beer I had was nice and my partner enjoyed her cider, the staff were very chatty and the food arrived quick. The toilets were a bit grotty with loo roll and paper sheets all over the floor and the bin was overflowing. We will return to give lucky chip another go.

We'd seen the reviews and thought we'd better give this a try and boy, are we glad we did, as friendly staff and delicious food make for the perfect restaurant experience! We ordered burgers, fries, tater tots and drinks. Gotta say, tater tots are new to us and these were so morish. So whatever you order, grab a side of these, you will be so glad you did. As for the burgers, so tasty, well cooked deep flavours and piping hot till the last mouthful. These are right up there with the best burgers we've had! Will we go again, most certainly!

I absolutely love Lucky Chip when I was in London but after moving to Folkestone this branch doesn’t live upto the hype. The buns are mostly stale when I have eaten and they never open up ontime. It’s Sunday and trading hours are open from noon but they decided to open later today. I would go to the burger van up the road for a better and more consistent experience

Best. Burger. Ever!!!! I have had many a burger in my life but this, oh my this burger was amazing. I had the Royale Wit Cheese. Sooo tasty. It wasn't stodgy like other burgers I've had. They are served a bit pink in the middle (and they tell you that upfront). I had mine fully done but my boyfriend had his as is and loved it. The fries are crispy and moreish. We had one basket between us and that was enough. We then had Cherry pie for afters. That was extremely tasty too. The staff are very friendly and the service was quick. The music wasn't to my taste but I remember seeing a board outside during the daytime telling you what genre is which night. It is a good job we don't live round here or I would end up the size of a house! Highly recommend! EDIT: One year later. Boyfriend brought me all the way here from Leicestershire so I could go here again 😊 still the best burger ever. (And I've tried quite a few in the last year!) EDIT: Another year later...STILL wonderful!!!!!! Nov 23 EDIT: Changed my burger to a different one (named after an actress, I forget who!) and it was even nicer than my regular!!! May 24 EDIT: New chef but still the best burger ever! Ooh and the cherry pie was yummy with an awesome Chantilly cream 😊

I went there with some work colleagues had a nice time. The food is really good and we went there on Wednesday which meant we could take advantage of the £5 cocktails. The burger was one of the best I've had and I would like to try thier Sunday roast. It would be a 5 star review if only you could hear what others were saying as the music was quite loud.

Train ticket office
Eurotunnel Le Shuttle Passenger Check-In in Folkestone has been improving its services, with plans to add more EV chargers and an improved food offering at the terminal. The check-in process is seamless, with the option for earlier travel times if available. While there could be more activities for kids, the parking is ample and the staff are praised for their helpfulness. Additionally, there's a positive experience of receiving assistance when a passport was forgotten, showcasing thoughtful customer service.
Fast and easy check in, lots of staff to make sure you are heading the correct way through passport control and to the train itself. Easy entry to the train and only 25 minutes across. We arrived early and was able to get the a earlier train which was great.
Graeme H — Google review
Over the years I must’ve used the EuroTunnel well over 100 times. The crossing is very quick (35 minutes) & on a normal day it’ll take about 30 minutes to get through the security… They used to have a frequent traveler account & you could cross the channel for as little as £43 per way but unfortunately since Covid (& maybe before that) they no longer offer the account. Crossing now can be expensive but it’s worth the time you save crossing by the ferry. Overall expect for the prices everything else is pretty good. You drive into the train & sit in your car or could walk on the side walk during the crossing…
Sam Z — Google review
If only all travel hubs were as efficient as this! Self check in was very simple, arrived early and they offered a space on an earlier train so we took it, no extra charge. Good terminal facilities. Passport control was a breeze. Fun experience.
Jane P — Google review
So much better than the ferry etc Much quicker. Sometimes you might get delays at peak times, school holidays, but never really had a bad experience. Always use this for any European journey. Very convenient and all the staff are quite friendly too
Tee K — Google review
Never had a problem with this crossing. In fact it’s now my preferred route to most parts of Europe . ( However living close to Plymouth, Spain and Brittany and French west coast I’ll take Brittany Ferries ) Saying this the Chunnel is excellent, quick , easy & efficient . I do think pricing is a little high sometimes but doesn’t stop me using. In reflection it’s quick easy and convenient, I’ll certainly continue to use .
Andrew A — Google review
Quick and easy, but very, very pricey in summer. Paid €727 for a return trip (with the caravan). For that kind of money, you could drive all of France’s toll roads and still spend less than on this “platinum-plated” train. Don't believe any of their 'special promotions', think twice about booking. If you arrive too early; no problem, they'll put you on any train. If you arrive late you have to pay a full new ticket... But it is conveniant and fast, can't argue about that. Especially if you have a long drive ahead up north. And staff is pretty helpful and friendly. Just wish they would have lower average price year round.
Stijn J — Google review
Great service, very convenient. If the prices were a little more affordable for regular crossing that would be a bonus.

Nestled just a short walk from the vibrant Harbour Arm, The Goods Yard is a culinary paradise that showcases an array of food and drink options housed in charming shipping containers and lively food huts. This bustling street-food market has become a cornerstone of Folkestone's gastronomic scene since its revitalization in 2016. Visitors can indulge in mouthwatering dishes like moules frites at Go Dutch or savor hearty sausage rolls at Pork & Co.
The Goods Yard – Folkestone’s answer to summer perfection 🍔🍕🍻 When the sun’s out, this place delivers. Imagine this: A sunny courtyard surrounded by shipping containers dishing out burgers, pizza, Chinese, Greek... A big ol’ screen showing live sport and movies (Tuesdays = film night!) A bar right in the middle so you can sip a cold one while soaking up rays AND it’s all designed to block the wind – genius! The vibe is just brilliant. Clean toilets (thank you 🙏), friendly staff, great energy. I can only imagine what it’s like during the World Cup or Euros… probably electric. The screen’s super bright too – no squinting needed even in full sun. Honestly? Big love for this place. Already planning my next visit.

A birthday meal totally ruined by pure incompetence thanks to Bay Tree Bar & Grill. Orders taken, quite a fair wait for the meals to arrive. Clearly stated on order 'no garlic butter'. Arrived eventually with yes, garlic butter all over the steak. Server agreed I had asked for steak without garlic butter. He came back 8 minutes later to state it would be 15 minutes. Considering everyone else was halfway through their meals it was totally pointless so I cancelled my meal. They gave me my drink for free (very charitable of them, a pint of lemonade with orange)! They brought the bill out taking off the drink but to add insult to injury they still tried to charge me for the steak that was sent back and never returned! Obviously refused to pay for the steak and bill was readjusted. Thank you all for totally screwing up the birthday evening out for me, you must be very pleased with yourselves!

Four of us went out to celebrate a Ruby wedding anniversary. We couldn't order the cocktails we were hoping to have as they only have one bartender who makes them, and he hadn't turned up to work. I asked for a Bacardi and Coke, they don't stock it, then a Gordon's gin, they didn't have that either. I walked round to see the restaurant that had just a couple of occupied tables. We asked to see the manager. He was rude, abrupt, and argued with us! He made the situation worse and had no managerial skills. Obviously, we didn't stay to eat. Instead, we went to a professional restaurant, Sotirios, which we regularly use. The welcome and service there made up for the bad experience in The Bay Tree. I've done this review to advise other people, but I would appreciate some response back from The Bay Tree to acknowledge they are aware of the abrupt manner their manager has towards their guests.

Nestled in the charming coastal town of Folkestone, the Leas Bandstand is a delightful historical gem that dates back to 1889. This iconic structure, supported by elegant iron columns, serves as a vibrant hub for local music and summer events. The surrounding Zig-Zag path, crafted in 1921 by architect James Pulham from waste materials known as Pulhamite, leads visitors through enchanting man-made grottoes and rocky formations down to the Amphitheatre below.
Perfect spot for a bandstand right next the Zigzag Path. You can sit and enjoy the views around of Folkestone Beach from the top. Many duck chairs there to be used. Wish if there's a bandstand performance so I could enjoy it more.

A historic landmark, dating back to the late 19th Century when Folkestone was at its super-chic height. After falling into ruin and nearly being pulled down some years ago by an inept council, this landmark has since been restored. Once again you can hear the summer weekend brass bands I remember as a child in the 70s. It’s also a venue for other local music, and acts as a focal point for various summer events. A true local landmark.

The Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway is a delightful experience for both railway aficionados and families alike. This charming miniature railway spans 14 miles from Hythe to the unique shingle landscape of Dungeness, offering breathtaking views across the Marsh. It's an enchanting journey that not only showcases stunning scenery but also connects visitors to local attractions like the Crafts Fair at the Romney Marsh Visitor Centre in November.
We went yesterday and had a lovely day, we got the train from hythe and went right to the far end and back. The staff are amazing and so helpful and friendly. The kids absolutely loved the train ride. Thank you to all the team for making us feel so welcome

Good day out, charming little railway with some beautiful steam teams and miniature diesel engines. Found the enclosed carriages slightly difficult to enter and exit, as the low roof and small doors are fairly difficult to access for older adults who wish to enjoy the experience. Some interesting history on show and a brilliant oo scale model railway at New Romney station

An absolutely fantastic day out for railway fans. My daughters loved riding on the train and we all enjoyed the scenic views as we headed towards Dungeness. There is a lovely cafe at Dungeness, and you can climb the lighthouse at weekends.

Roberta G — Google review
Brilliant 15 inch gauge railway. We parked at their RHDR Hythe station for the day (£6). We took the train all the way to Dungeness station (approx 1hr), visited the lighthouse (£5 entrance fee and 160 steps to the top, but it does have 2 landings for a rest and information about the lighthouse). Dungeness station has a café with indoor seating and toilets; also parking here is free. The café serves a good variety of food, but you may need to pay by cash as their internet connection for electronic payments isn't very reliable! New Romney station is the main hub of the railway. It has a café with seating. Above the café is a model railway layout with museum exhibits (extra small entrance fee if you didn't buy the all inclusive ticket). The model railway is computer controlled and has buttons to press which activate different features on the layout (great for youngsters). There is also a heritage area near the signal box showing the history of the railway. We'll definitely be visiting again as it is was such an enjoyable day out.

Bobbies Bakehouse is a charming cafe located in a converted signal box at the former Harbour station in Folkestone. The name pays homage to the old term "bobby" for a signalman, and the cafe beautifully preserves the original levers while serving an array of delectable treats such as coffee, cakes, and homemade Brick Lane-style bagels.
Set up in the signal box by the swing bridge in Folkestone Harbour. A small compact cafe (with outside seating in warmer weather) Coffee was great & tea was served in enamel mugs with milk in small glass bottles. Food looked tasty (would have had some but we were shortly due to eat out & didn't want to spoil our appetite) - there was noises of appreciation from the other couple in the signal box. Was a great chance to reminisce as I remember when it was a busy working line, so was nice that all the levers were still there & status panel lit up.

We visited in late June 2020 so lots of the social distancing measures were still in place and they were only able to do takeout. That said we all really enjoyed our bagels and were massively impressed by the kids meal which was really good value (it included a drink too that's not pictured). We drove for about an hour for this as a Father's Day treat and it was well worth it!

Popped in for breakfast & tried the Full English Breakfast Bagel. It was a good portion, as for me, personally. But the top of the bagel was bit hard, so it was difficult to eat it with cutlery, and also impossible to eat by hands. So I just ate the bits separately. The orange juice came in a small kids portion-like plastic cup. Overall not too impressed by customer service either. Wasn't convinced to come back for more.

Specialty Museums
The Kent Battle of Britain Museum Trust boasts an extensive assortment of WWII aviation-themed memorabilia, including warplanes, uniforms and artifacts. The exhibit comprises various aircraft hangars and features a vast selection of British and German planes as well as military paraphernalia. Although photography is not allowed in the main hangers out of respect for those who fought during the war, visitors can enjoy taking pictures elsewhere on the premises.
Visited today and was unsure what to expect because, despite being a history lover, WW2 isn’t normally a time period that interests me too much. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the sheer amount of work and dedication to those who served and died during the Battle of Britain. There is no photography allowed, which is understandable given the context. Me and my parents spent the whole day here absorbing the emotional stories that all had been meticulously researched. Would absolutely recommend. We also paid a quick visit to the nearby cemetery a minute’s drive away to see the graves of some of those who died in the surrounding area. A great tie in to finish off a wonderful day!
Danielle B — Google review
What an excellent Museum, the curator and staff go the extra mile to uncover any items related to the battle of Britain. They have separate sections devoted to individual pilots which helps to bring the whole experience to life. There are some amazing aircraft on site and they support various outside projects, including one to bring a hurricane, recovered from a marsh, back hopefully into an airworthy condition. If you have any interest in the Battle of Britain, then this is a must visit Museum. Set aside a full day as there are a tremendous amount of exhibits and life stories of Pilots.
Hugh L — Google review
We had a very nice visit here! This museum was far bigger than we expected. What a great collection of planes and other WW2 memorabilia. Lots of friendly volunteers made our visit even better!
Martijn B — Google review
Brilliant museum. You have to hand in your cameras and phones as photography is strictly prohibited unless accompanied by a guide. I wasn’t that bothered but took these from the outside. Staff were very friendly. They have a memorial exhibit for every airman stationed at the site, who died. I remember reading one account who died long after the war, but most were casualties from the war. Some exhibits were of non British airmen. I’m avoiding keywords that search engines might pick up on. The museum is packed, I think they must have all their artefacts on show. The item I found most extraordinary were the training paintings, showing a sequence of plane manoeuvres. We visited late on a Friday in late July
Jenny W — Google review
Me and my dad visited here about a month or so ago, and it was a great experience I must say, brilliant display, but just warning you early, when you walk in and book, you must have your phone in a safe, but if you want to take pictures someone will get called over and guide you to where you are allowed to, but this museum is a good place overall.

Absolutely magnificent little museum, full of amazing stories of heroism in the Battle of Britain, and reconstructed aircraft, which is run by hugely enthusiastic volunteers - allow a couple of hours to wander around then enjoy a delicious meal or snack at the mess. So pleased we found this gem.
Felicity W — Google review
What a fantastic museum this is. When I say it's full with WW2 Battle of Britain history it's an understatement. This place is a little gem for anybody interested in this period in time. There is also a WW1 display but mostly Second world war artifacts fill the walls and ground. Pictures are prohibited in the museum itself due to a few reasons but Pictures outside are fine. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. There's also a onsite cafe where we had a fry up, which was great. It also has a little shop with plenty of books and gifts avaliable. The museum collections though are what makes this place what it is. In the middle of the museum on the grass is an array of aircraft including 3 full scale replicas of the Hawker Hurricane, a real Heinkel and a JU 52 among others. Please vist this museum and help keep the history of these brave men and women alive.

My kids love the football pitch as well as the many slides and large play area. The drop slide is an added bonus for those brave children. Coffee is nice and the food is what you expect in a soft play area - no fills but no complaints! The toilets are not always fresh but with the volume of children using them I'm not surprised. The booking system for soft play/lazer tag needs amending as you have to pay for an adult but it also says 1 adult with 1 child is free. Overall defo worth a visit! We've been coming on a regular basis for nearly 10 years!

Had a lovely time here Easter Sunday with our 4 year old. Reasonably priced, extra activities put on for Easter (staff did a great job) and a good variety of play equipment. Would visit again.
Paul D — Google review
My kids loved it, plenty seating. Cheaper to pay online in advance. Baby, toddler and older kids separated play areas. Cafe on site with food and drinks. Upstairs seating also available. Some parts of the play area closed, it looked like a rocket train, would have liked to see that open especially that it was half term.

Fantastic kids party. My 4 year old party at another venue got cancelled a week before the party. Kidz planet were able to accommodate and down a great job. We’re not very close to lots of the guests haven’t been before and everyone went away saying they’ll definitely come back. Definitely recommend. Thank you!
Jordan L — Google review
Great for party's and just an afternoon out. Cafe does good food choices for the kids. Prices are respectable. So weekends with bad weather the place will be packed. Hit and miss if your get a seat. They do it on amount inside so I would recommend booking.
Will T — Google review
Was well worth the hours drive to try a new soft play, both kids liked it a lot. Lots of seating, with hard and soft seats. Catered for all ages. Has its own mini roller coaster too!
Max D — Google review
Absolutely do not bring your children here. My three year old daughter was repeatedly pushed and hit by a member of staffs child on the 23/09/2025 who I have now found out is actually the managers (Lisa) child. My daughter attempted to play football with my brother in law, as she went into the football area this boy took the ball off her and pushed her she then attempted to go in there again and unfortunately the same thing happened and the boy seemed to be getting more aggressive this upset my daughter and she was then brought back downstairs to avoid her being seriously hurt as she is only three and the boy was around 7/8. My daughter came down stairs shortly after this the boy came down when he saw my daughter again she was stood by the canteen area he then pushed her into the canteen wall she hit her head and was screaming in pain no accident form was given despite 3/4 members of staff watching including the ‘manager’, the boy was not told that what he had just done is not nice or okay to do. We left after this upset and shocked by what had just happened and will not be returning again. I called up this morning to try and speak to a manager to report this incident and question why an accident form was not given despite a head injury. It then came to my surprise that the lady whose son it was was who I was speaking with she informed me she was the ‘manager Lisa’ on the call. The phone call was appalling I was shouted at by this ‘manager’ and she tried to blame my daughter despite my whole family witnessing the event thankfully I have the phone call all on record and will be taking it further. I really do not recommend this place as it is not safe for your children and evidently the staff do not care either.
Jordanna L — Google review
Over the years I would describe Kidz Planet as unfortunately going down hill the play equipment is becoming quite old and really needs a good updating. The times I have been there it's been hugely overcrowded, it's so hot in there I don't think there is any air conditioning. Cleanliness whilst I understand can be difficult with kids running around could be better with tables not being cleared, food all over the floor. I didn't have much interaction with the staff however the people I did come into contact with were pleasant I would just say it seemed like there weren't enough staff. My rating is mainly to do with the cleanliness and outdated equipment.

This place is brilliant. There were seven of us randing from 11 to 30+ and we all loved it. We did the Zombie Apocalypse room and it was great - everyone was challenged yet we were all able to solve little bits. The staff were really friendly, which is always good. Looking forward to doing the Serial Killer room soon before they change the themes in the summer!
Chris B — Google review
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC.! I really can not rate this activity highly enough. Great build up, warming staff and just a fantastic way to spend 60 minutes. Team building (friends & family-testing), so many laughs and epic moments of greatness, cracking codes and puzzles and saving the world. I literally can't wait for their new puzzle rooms. Many thanks for the great day.

Went while on holiday. Did the serial killer room, which looked great. Really interesting and clever puzzles, with some I've never seen in an escape room before. Staff were extremely friendly and super enthusiastic. Cannot recommend enough!
Daniel H — Google review
Took my daughter for a Zombie themed birthday treat. At 12 i was worried that it might be beyond her, but she got to grips very quickly. It was a great little venue. Got there 15 minutes before our time slot, the team welcomed us and had us briefed. There was only 3 which can make escape rooms a challenge, and we had to use a few clues but we managed to make our way through the puzzles. A great way to spend an hour.
Nicki L — Google review
Best escape room I've done. Fantastic puzzles that really do make you think. Did the serial killer game, very well decorated inside, lots of tunnels and different rooms made it very fun!
Jasmine G — Google review
Done the zombie appoclyps with a group 11yo to 30+ and it was amazing.. the staff are so welcoming friendly and excited about the rooms. The staff really get you in the mood about room you have chosen, highly recomend to anyone to go and try this and have a great time.
Stewie V — Google review
Something new to do in Folkestone! Friendly host, great puzzles, altogether well executed. Located near the Sainsburys on Bouverie Road West. We did the zombie room with two kids 10 and 12 (boys) and it was pitched right for a family with older kids. The puzzles might have been too hard for them on their own, but fine with two adults.
Mrs M — Google review
Certainly not for everyone this! Having done an outside version in Canterbury, this really didn't mount up to the same thing. Felt dated as well as the rooms looking and feeling tired. The other 3 loved it, but I found it hard to keep awake to be honest. The bloke who was there though was very nice, enthusiastic and a had a smile on his face throughout. If I did try one of their others I may well change my rating, but for this serial killer version... Sorry 1* only.

Our team recently visited Locked In in Folkestone for a team-building activity, and it was fantastic! The escape room was challenging and immersive, perfect for promoting teamwork. Special thanks to our friendly host, Alex, who made the experience even better. The attention to detail in the room's design and the well-thought-out puzzles required us to communicate and collaborate effectively. On top of that, the experience was very well priced, making it an excellent value for money. Locked In is right on our doorstep in Folkestone, and we couldn't have asked for a better location. If you're looking for a fun and engaging team-building activity, I highly recommend Locked In. We had a blast and can't wait to return!

Had an amazing time this lunch time our first time in an escape room … was so much fun , and we were better than we thought .. 52.40 mins Thank you for making our first time so relaxed, fun and memorable .. can’t wait to come back and do The Bunker …. Highly recommend and on our doorstep too 😍

Had a great time with the Bunker. The four of us managed to complete it in time and it was great to play a room that flowed. Good setup too and very friendly host! We'll go back when next in the area for the Asylum.
Steven B — Google review
A real pleasure to visit and would rank this among the best escape rooms I have done. A friendly welcome followed by a great induction. The room was a great challenge and fun all the way. Will be back again soon to take on the other room.
Rob D — Google review
I recently had the opportunity to play the Asylum game at the Locked-In escape room with three friends, and I must say, it was an outstanding experience! The puzzles were intriguing and challenging, making the game even more enjoyable. The game design was fantastic, and the atmosphere was just right – eerie and immersive. The clues and puzzles were well thought out, and we were thoroughly entertained trying to escape the asylum. The puzzles were challenging enough to keep us on our toes, but not too difficult that we were unable to make progress. I must give a special shout-out to the game master, who was very friendly and professional. They did an excellent job of setting the mood and providing just the right amount of support when needed. Overall, I would highly recommend the Locked-In escape room to anyone looking for a unique and challenging experience. The Asylum game was a blast, and I am already looking forward to playing another game at the Locked-In in the near future. Thank you for a fantastic time!

I was lucky enough to be invited along to do 'The Asylum' at locked in with a group of friends at work. I had never thought about doing an escape room before as I thought it wasn't my thing. Turns out, I was completely wrong!! It was so well thought out, well presented, and the guy that ran the room was a top bloke! This was a great team-building exercise and also great fun too - would highly recommend - the best part is, there's a second room so we can do it all again - Looking forward to it!
Jack B — Google review
Had an excellent time with my wife at this escape room center this afternoon. The two of us completed Bunker in 57 minutes with no hints, and we found it the perfect mix of challenging and fun! Our host Jamie was brilliant, taking us through the completed run afterwards and commenting on highlights from our attempt. I'd recommend this to anyone with an interest in WW2 history and escape rooms! Edit: now done Asylum and honestly it's just as good if not better! 😁 Top quality experience!

The Tower Theatre, located in Folkestone, is a historic four-storey building nestled into the cliffs below The Leas. Originally designed as a concert hall by Norwegian architect J.S. Dahl, it was opened in 1927 and now operates as a fully-fledged theatre with a seating capacity of 285. Managed by the Folkestone & Hythe Operatic & Dramatic Society, this former church offers an intimate setting for music lovers and hosts regular events including concerts and gigs.
The theatre staff were amazing - all really helpful. The drawbacks were, as the show was sold out, parking was an issue and the bar was crammed. That said, I will definitely go again. It's a cute theatre with lots of character.
Louisa L — Google review
Great local venue. We went to see 'Seriously Collins'; a Phil Collins/Genesis tribute show (well worth going to see). The venue bar is reasonably priced and well stocked. The volunteer staff are all helpful and friendly. The productions including sound and lighting are really professional. There is a large car park available, or plenty of on road free parking nearby. The car park is well lit. My only criticism is that the venue was far too hot 🥵
Lisa Q — Google review
Brilliant production of Love from a stranger by Agatha Christie and Frank Vosper. Seats were very comfortable and staff were very polite.

The Radnor Park Play Area underwent equipment replacement a few years ago, with separate sections for younger and older children, an outdoor gym area, and wheelchair-accessible swings. Additionally, there is a café that serves hot and cold drinks, food, and ice cream. The park also features a spacious green area for play and a restored fountain. This project by the council has been highly regarded. The playground's opening hours are extensive throughout the week, allowing for ample utilization.
Great Park, equipment is suitable for different ages, they have a wheelchair accessible swing, gym equipment, it is clean and tidy, they also have a cafe which is reasonably priced and friendly staff. Plenty of green space lovely to walk the dog there is also a fenced of training area for dogs.

A nice family park at the side of Radnor Park. There's a good selection of play areas for children of all ages, including an enclosed area for the smaller ones. Does get muddy after its rained. There's a cafe and toilets nearby which are handy and a good few parking spaces along the road.

As the closest golf club to the Channel Tunnel, it offers an idyllic setting for both avid golfers and event planners alike. The traditional cedar clubhouse features an impressive patio where guests can soak in stunning vistas while enjoying various functions or celebrations.
Beautiful course, I’m not a golfer myself but I’ve now held two charity golf days here and from an organisation view I could not fault it, Jo and Donna were superb and a huge help.
Lucy E — Google review
Excellent golf course, greens superb, the back nine very different from the front nine, and trust me on a hot day you'll understand why they call the 17th the heart attack hole! Fantastic views of St Mary's Bay and Dungeness, staff friendly and efficient, breakfast was above average. If you are senior or have mobility issues would highly recommend booking a buggy. Didn't have any issues with waiting at tee's. The only down side was that the compressor had packed up on the 9th hole bar but soft drinks were still available.

On Wednesday and Thursdays £7.50 for one hour and £11 for two hours last entry 7:30pm booking advisable. They have drinks soft and acholic and food. Think its 20 minute games get very hot, sweaty and tyred.

So so so much fun. Get a group of you and book the kids party... 3 games, pizza, chips and squash all at a reasonable price. Staff are greatand the arena is compact, but with plenty of places to jump out from.
Kevin P — Google review
We are really disappointed after attending kids planet/laser tag with my children over many years. Today was my sons 9th birthday party which I paid £180 for. When we arrived we were informed that another party of older children 11/12 were also playing - of course the 8/9 year olds were outplayed and upset by the older kids. When we requested the teams be mixed up this was declined. We paid for 2 pieces of pizza and chips for 10 children but were only provided with 16 slices (one uncut which had to be returned to be cut) - we found the staff to be extremely unhelpful and rude - sadly will not be returning or recommending

We had a party for 10 for my son’s 11th birthday. Staff and venue are amazing, from emails, to phone calls, booking process, host, genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better place. We have a child with allergies too who attended, they dealt with this professionally and made sure everyone was inclusive. Big shout out to the whole team! Thank you for putting a huge smile on my sons face and giving the kids a great time - nice and easy for us parents to sit back and let the chaos commence

Great place! Quite a big arena with different levels and lots of places to hide. Different types of games avaliable e.g teams/solo. Great fun for all ages! Staff friendly and happy to help. Coffee was nice 👍👍

Absolutely brilliant venue for an excited young child and his or her friends to enjoy laser tag. The prices are reasonable particularly for birthday parties, the staff are tolerant, friendly, knowledgeable and safety conscious. Adults allowed in to the the tag room itself which the Dad’s like me absolutely love. I couldn’t recommend it more actually.
