Country food restaurant
The Goods Shed is a unique all-day restaurant located in an 1830s railway goods shed, offering a picturesque view of the daily market. The establishment features its own bakery, butchery, and an open kitchen. Visitors can indulge in dishes made from locally sourced produce available at the market downstairs, including Kentish lamb, cider, cobnut oil, and slow-proven bread from Enzos bakery.
Don’t let the multi-vendor “shed” fool you. This is top notch British cooking with smart service. Our John dory was a silky, smooth delicate plate of goodness, accompanied with the most balanced unobtrusive sauce; and the lamb saddle was as tasty as ever, with perfectly cooked carrots and beetroot. Quality and care is a staple here, exemplifying local produce. The team clicks and seamlessly move around the elevated platform with cheerfulness. This was a pleasant surprise lunch for us while visiting Canterbury. Would come back just for another Michelin level lunch here. Keep going, team Goods Shed.

It was the best surprise in Canterbury. In an upper wing of the organic produce market, there is an excellent restaurant. From the moment we arrived, they were extremely attentive and helpful. The kitchen is semi-open, so you can watch the chef and his team at work. My husband and I opted for fish, different types and preparations, but both were delicious. Creamy, fresh, naturally made with organic, top-quality ingredients. For dessert, we ordered the crumble, and honestly, it was one of the most delicious crumbles I have ever tasted, and the cream was delicious. They have an excellent wine and whisky list. I definitely recommend it, and in fact, I hope to return soon.

Farmers’ Market Meets Honest Cooking Had lunch today at The Goods Shed, a rustic restaurant set inside a lively indoor farmers’ market in Canterbury—and the experience was both charming and satisfying. As soon as we ordered, the starters and bread arrived quickly. The mussels in lovage cream were a real highlight—incredibly fresh and flavorful, with a light herbaceous sauce that brought out the natural sweetness of the shellfish. The grilled squid was equally impressive, tender with just the right amount of char, paired beautifully with a zesty green sauce. These dishes set the tone for a promising meal. The complimentary bread was served warm and fresh—simple, but comforting. However, there was a bit of a wait (around 30 minutes) before the mains arrived. But the wait was worth it for the lamb leg. Cooked to perfection, it was beautifully tender and melt-in-the-mouth, accompanied by a creamy cauliflower purée and cauliflower salad that balanced the richness of the meat. On the other hand, the brandade fishcake was a bit underwhelming—mild in flavor and lacking the depth I had hoped for. The real charm of The Goods Shed isn’t just in the food—it’s the whole atmosphere. You’re dining inside a working farmers’ market, surrounded by local produce, cheeses, artisan bread, and specialty stalls. After your meal, a stroll through the market is a must—it feels like part of the experience. ✅ A great spot for families, couples, or friends looking to enjoy seasonal food with a sense of place. Highly recommended for those who love fresh, local, and honestly prepared food in a warm, market-style setting.

Nice cozy restaurant, an unplanned candlelit dinner with my husband after exploring Canterbury the whole day. We are lucky to have a table for us as we walked in without any reservations. Had a good meal, the Raspberry sorbet was a win! I’m honestly obsessed with the candle holder the entire time 😍 Lovely place to unwind and have a quiet and relaxing dinner.

We visited May 21, 2025. Thanks to some recommendations by locals via a Canterbury citizens Facebook page, we were pleased to have visited the The Goods Shed. We got to try free samples of some wonderful cheeses, before sitting outside to eat our purchases of cheese and cider. It's a really fun place.

Loved The Goods Shed. Had such an excellent meal in the restaurant with some really tasty and unusual food combinations. Some really nice vegetable dish choices together with meat, fish and chicken. Also brought some local produce. Would thoroughly recommend.

Let’s be honest – it’s a bit off the beaten tourist track in Canterbury. That said, giving it 15 minutes of your time seems worth it at first glance. As soon as we sat down, I joked that this experience would go down in history thanks to me. Sadly, as time went on, a few doubts started to creep in. In the end though, it’s the flavour, the taste and the quality of the food that really win you over – making this place well worth checking out. Shame about a few slip-ups with the service, otherwise they’d have deserved the golden buzzer -))

I chose the Wild goose to get breakfast. I ordered an extra hot latte. Asked about the greens on the eggs Florentine he said it was chard, so I opted for the eggs with salmon on sourdough bread and a side of bubble. The latte was not extra hot, and the scrambled eggs were nice and soft topped with capers and smoked salmon which was tasty and from the fishmonger on the stall opposite. The sourdough bread was from the baker in the stall next to the Wild Goose. I'm looking forward to coming back soon.

Located in the heart of Canterbury, The Corner House is a 16th-century coaching inn that offers comfortable rooms with Tudor period details. The restaurant has been named Kent Restaurant of the Year multiple times and has earned 2 AA Rosettes for its food. Guests can enjoy freshly baked croissants delivered to their door each morning. The sympathetically decorated restaurant serves delicious dishes such as chicken liver parfait, roasted belly of pork, herb crumbed cod, and whole roast chicken for sharing.
A very very nice restaurant. Friendly personal, delicious Beef Wellington (so tender and beautifully baked meet), cozy atmosphere. We had a table with the kitchen view, which was entertaining, and we could see the attention the chef put to meals

This award winning restaurant serves the very best Sunday Roast. The quality of the meat offerings and the amazing vegetarian roast were matched by creative and amazingly tasty sides. If you visit The Cathedral on a Sunday, make a reservation for supper, an English ritual. If you take the high speed train with an anytime return from and to London, the cathedral visit capped with a truly amazing dinner makes for a rewarding side trip.

We stayed at the Corner house for our 25th wedding anniversary in the Tourtel room (Rupert the bear) beautiful room and a amazing bathroom, being on the busy road it's noisy at night but ear plugs are supplied. We ate at the corner house Saturday menu and Sunday dinner the food was wonderful, had a few cocktails which were lovely. Has own main door so you can come and go when ever you want. Enjoyed the area museum (which is free) and Cathedral(about £20 each but can use it as many times during the year) We will definitely be back to stay at the Corner House

Very nice stay here, celebrating my special birthday. Room was lovely, good size & very clean. The bathroom was very big and loved the decor. Would stay again. Breakfast did not cater for me with my wheat allergy, even though we told them in advance. Husband loved it though!

Stayed here for our son's graduation. It was a perfect location as only 5 min walk into Canterbury town centre. Staff were lovely. Chatty, friendly and attentive. Bed was comfy. Room was clean with En-Suite. Brekky was brought up to our room at 08.30 the next morning. Hot croissants, toast & jam, yogurt with fruit & granola. Yum! Room has a fridge with fresh water and a glass bottle of milk which was perfect with the decaf coffee & tea. Would recommend and definitely stay again.

Had to find lunch while waiting for the cathedral to open, and stumbled upon The Corner House. It turned out to be the best meal we had during our entire trip! Great service with incredibly friendly staff, and the food was fantastic. Definitely worth a visit!

Amazing restaurant. The quality of food and service is brilliant each time. We've probably been 30 times now and wouldn't want to go anywhere else in Canterbury. Thank you to all the wonderful staff for always making us feel special and welcome.

The meal was really quite good. Meat fell apart, melted in my mouth, absolutely delicious. And the strawberry pavlova was perhaps THE best I have ever tasted… All I would request is please guys keep your tables clean as they are a bit sticky.

Modern Indian restaurant
Fusion restaurant
The Cook's Tale Restaurant, formerly known as the Ambrette, is a popular dining spot in Canterbury, conveniently located near the city center and Marlowe Theatre. Renowned chef Dev Biswal brings a modern Asian twist to traditional Indian cuisine using locally sourced Canterbury produce. The restaurant has received numerous awards and accolades for its innovative menus.
What a brilliant happy-accident of a find. I was so impressed from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Sacha was our host who made us feel welcome and was attentive from the word go. The other server we had (so sorry to not catch a name) was a perfect guide when it came to our meals. He recommended the lamb and he was not wrong to do so. Every part of our meal was delicious and the portions were so generous. I would recommend the thali; mackerel curry is a revelation! Thank you so much, we will be back
Hannah G — Google review
I went o the cook's tale in lunch hours to have some authentic Indian experience in Canterbury. But before you go and try it out let me very straightforward and tell you that the food is a bit mellowed down for British people. I expected it and was okay with it too. I can vouch for their starters especially paani poori and samosa chat. Pani poori had tamarind water which is one of the best ones I have tasted in the UK but it lacks that zing which you find in north and north eastern side of country. Overall it was 9/10. Samosa chat was something different as the filling was with beetroot instead of potato, paneer or garden peas. Still I would say the taste was quite good and quite authentic. Overall it was 8/10. So if we move on to the main course I was a bit disappointed as the tandoori chicken was more like a Kalmi kebab and not the real tandoori stuff you expect from Punjab. Having said that this was quite tasty and fulfilling but this has to Kalmi Kebab and not tandoori 🐔🍗. Lastly Tadka Dal and Jeera Rice were the clinching point of our lunch scoring 10/10 in all departments. I would recommend you to go to this place as compared to others in Canterbury as they have quite good Indian food experience to offer, but, brace yourself for some creativity by the head chef Dev Biswal - I personally liked it and was happy about it.

An amazing place to spend one’s birthday! We are both vegetarians and the dishes we sampled tonight were tasteful, full of flavours, and well presented in what can be described as modern twist of Indian food. I recommend visiting if in Canterbury but be warned, portions are generous and you’ll end up full! The service was attentive and what makes it all better is the way the dishes are described, great experience overall.

We came on Friday evening for the Odisha Tasting Experience at £150pp with matching drinks. The menu was amazing, each dish having a backstory of where it orientated and lovely cocktails for each dish. This tasting menu with 10 courses is amazing value. We have been to the Cooks tale quite frequently over the last few years and always have an amazing meal and amazing service! Thank you
Molly B — Google review
We visited The Cooks Tale for lunch, marking our third time dining in. Every visit after the first has carried the same welcoming, cozy atmosphere, paired with warm service and dishes that stay with you long after the meal. For mains, we ordered the chargrilled duck tikka, the Odisha-style coconut fish malai, and for starters we had the beetroot samosa, and the onion, fenugreek leaf, and spinach pakoras. We were treated to their complimentary artichoke and pea soup with Indian spices alongside freshly puffed flatbread, outstanding in every sense, aromatic, vibrant, and deeply flavorful. The starters were exceptional. The beetroot samosa stood out in particular: comforting, beautifully crisp, and rich with flavor. The onion and fenugreek pakoras were equally delightful: light, crunchy, and full of character, complemented by a side sauce so delicious it could be enjoyed entirely on its own. Our mains were superb. The hake curry was tender and velvety, melting effortlessly with every bite; warm, complex, and memorable. The duck tikka impressed as well, with perfectly cooked, succulent meat and thoughtful presentation. To our surprise, Sasha, our wonderful server of the day, brought us a complimentary dessert. Her hospitality elevated the entire visit: professional, warm, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic. She answered our questions with ease and guided us through the menu with kindness and insight. Her service made the experience truly special, and we greatly appreciate her care. The Cooks Tale has firmly secured its place as one of our favorite restaurants in Canterbury. It is a must-visit for anyone passionate about food, eager to explore new flavors, or simply looking for an exceptional dining experience.

A Sunday Roast like no other. Great service, great food all at a very reasonable prices. 1 o'clock on Sunday afternoon and we were suprised to find the restaurant was quite empty. Was given a nice Windows seat with a view of the scaffolding! And that is where I could only hope visit would get better and it did. We ordered the pot roast Tandoori chicken and awaited out feast. It is all cooked to order, we knew it would take around an hour to arrive. What we did not expect what a small taster menu to be served up whilst waiting. The tasters where delicious and made the time pass quicker. And when the pot roast arrive it came with further selection of sides. Everything was perfectly cooked and tasted devine. Chef Dev know his food and how to fuse his cusines perfectly. Definitely one to try when in Canterbury.
Adam C — Google review
I had a truly wonderful experience From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming The food was exceptional every dish, from the vegetarian starters to the main course, was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. They truly did a fantastic job. What impressed me the most, however, was the outstanding service. Every member of the team went above and beyond to make our dining experience memorable, always with a genuine smile and attentive care. I look forward to dining here again on my next trip.
Swapna R — Google review
We had a fantastic experience at Cook’s Tale! Me and my friends shared two vegetarian thalis, which gave us the perfect variety of authentic Indian dishes — each one flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. The curries were rich, the dal was comforting, and everything was perfectly spiced. A special shout-out to Sakshi, who took great care of us and even treated us to complimentary parathas — such a kind and thoughtful gesture! The meal ended on a sweet high note with gulab jamun that was absolutely mouth-watering — soft, warm, and perfectly soaked in syrup. The welcoming atmosphere, attentive service, and delicious food made this a memorable meal. Highly recommend Cook’s Tale for a cozy and satisfying Indian dining experience with friends. We’ll definitely be back!

Restaurant
Café des Amis is a vibrant and eclectic diner located in Canterbury, offering a mix of Mexican and Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant boasts a colorful interior adorned with modern artworks, creating a lively atmosphere for diners. In addition to its diverse menu featuring Mexican fare and exotic beverages, the café also houses a complete bar serving an array of Mexican wines, beers, and cocktails.
The food at Cafe des Amis is absolutely delicious. we had a lot of different dishes and each one was cooked to perfection. the cocktail menu is also great with loads of different options and types of alcoholic variety. Sophia was our waitress and she made the experience even more enjoyable, she was kind and friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. i would highly recommend Cafe des Amis!
Katy — Google review
They serve fusion food Mexican/Mediterranean. The Antojitos for two - mixed starter was good but some combinations didn’t really work well. The ceviche was not great. The paella was good. The huevos rancheros were nice. It is good in general but pricey for what you get. We had left overs and they packed them in paper foil that broke easily. For the price paid, one would expect something better to take the food away. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. The place was a bit noisy. The toilets were dirty.
M M — Google review
Really enjoyed pour experience at this restaurant. The host did an excellent job with us and all the diners. Atmosphere was lively and upbeat. Food was great. Only slight negative was that some dishes were salty. Overall very good and generous portions.
Susanne P — Google review
Every time I eat here I’m always full to the rim, the food is too good and it’s so addictive, the cocktails are nice and strong too and it tastes even better during happy hour (frozen drinks only)!! I got the duck in the mole sauce and it’s so juicy and tender and just goes so well with the salsa and mash! The calamari is crispy and comes with this shrimp paste and carrot noodles and it’s got a nice sweet and tangy taste to it! If you love alcohol I suggest ordering a caipirinha, it’s got the best combo of sweetness and sour you can ask for and they are generous with the alcohol!!

Amazing customer service, went here to celebrate my engagement and cannot recommend this place enough, the staff were so lovely, and even brought out a free desert and allowed me to take a keep sake. The food was incredible as always you will not be disappointed here.

Cafe des Amis has been a favourite for years. Mexican with a French twist. Food is always good. Great for a romantic meal, or dinner with family and friends. The quirky wall art, cantina-esque style is warm and inviting.

Came in for dinner with a friend and, as someone who has never been a particularly huge fan of Mexican food, was very happy with the taste and quality of the food. The seafood burrito was absolutely delicious and if you feel like sharing I would highly recommend the chocolate fundido. Combined with the excellent service by every waitress we spoke with Café des Amis comes highly recommended!
Ellie B — Google review
Service and ambience were good, the food was disappointing. Had the duck and pork belly tacos. Tortillas were poor, the fillings, thought duck was over cooked, the pork belly forgettable; the rest of the fillings were decent. The prawns, that looked amazing, were over cooked, such a shame. The ceviches were ... well they were.

Nestled in the quaint town of Fordwich, The Fordwich Arms offers an exquisite dining experience with its refined British cuisine and charming ambiance. Run by a talented team with experience from London's Michelin-starred Clove Club, this oak-walled establishment has quickly earned a Michelin star of its own. The menu features innovative dishes such as hand-seared prawns on pink Himalayan salt blocks and tender duck hearts presented under glass bell jars filled with applewood smoke.
We received a voucher for the Fordwich Arms tasting menu for Christmas from our daughters and had the meal yesterday evening. We also had the wine pairing. Every dish was wonderful. All the dishes were very flavourful and original. It is impossible to pick out a single one, but the chef seemed to have worked magic with all the seafood dishes. I was taken aback by them. The dessert, which was the Fordwich Arms take on a Snickers bar, was good fun. The wine parings were super and the sommelier (who was relatively new I understand) was pleasant and knowledgeable and gave a very detailed and clear description of the wine and its provenance and why he had chosen that particular wine for each dish. He made a substantial contribution to our enjoyment of the meal. It was a cold night, but there was a lovely big fire in the fireplace and we had a wonderful and relaxed time. I have a big appetite, but was really full at the end of the meal. If you are going to have the tasting menu, I recommend that you make sure you are pretty hungry when you arrive.

One of the best meals of my life. My wife and I had the tasting menu for lunch on a gorgeous sunny June day. We sat outside by the river that was a picture itself. The food was fantastic and clearly locally sourced and the wine list had many local wines too, and were reasonable. Worth the trip from London, which is what we did, mainly for this meal!

Absolutely amazing food. Let’s be clear. Absolutely the best meal I’ve had in ages. But the service was too slow and the atmosphere was lacking. There was no background music until later in the evening so we could hear everything the staff said to the adjacent tables, which was somewhat annoying. But the food was incredible. It’s rare to see the bread and butter given its own course, but this was well deserved here. Delicious!

Today we had lunch at the Fordwich arms. The food , service and surroundings were excellent. We had the A la cart menu selection and were very please with the selection on offer and the quality of the food. We highly recommend this restaurant and believe it offers great vale for money.

Fordwich is a really beautiful small town, and the restaurant is equally impressive. There is parking onsite, but due to a road closure you’ll need to find roadside parking nearby, which wasn’t an issue for us. As the weather was so nice, they were serving outside on the patio, which was really nice. The service is absolutely fantastic and everyone was friendly. As for the food, it’s absolutely faultless. Each dish is so cleverly executed, beautifully presented, and packed with flavour. When we paid the bill, we really thought it was good value. It’s an exceptional dining experience and we can’t wait to go back.

Finest Dining Experience of my life (and I've had a few). I've been lucky enough through work to eat at some pretty amazing places. Gavroche and The Square being two examples. Having just finished a very busy period of work, I took my wife and daughter to The Fordwich last Sunday for a lazy late lunch at 4pm. We sat outside on the terrace next to the river, in the shade of a tree, while the sun blazed down around us. We then spent the next 3 hours being spoilt rotten and served some of the most delicious food imaginable while the river meandered quietly by. It was bliss. Perfection. The last time we came (for my Birthday in December) it was cold, dark, with driving rain. Inside was impossibly cosy, with food to match. This time we had blazing sun and sat by the river. My point is no matter when you come, you will have an experience you'll never forget. What a fabulous restaurant, run by fabulous staff, in a fabulous location.

We could not get a table at another nearby restaurant. They recommended to us Cafe Du Soleil. Their loss and Cafe du Soleil gain! What a great restaurant on the river. Lovely restaurant Megan was my server, and was super helpful nothing was too much, food was delicious my visit was short notice as I had some clients cancelled at the last minute from my Canterbury Ghost Tour! We booked last minute. We had a sharing platter Buttered chicken and Chilli chicken and I had a pepperoni pizza! Service was outstanding and staff overall were very helpful! All food cooked to order all food freshly prepared and cooked!

We had the share plater and what a large amount of delicious food. The steak was so tender and the chicken was simply delicious. Asked for more bread and was on the table hot out the oven. We did not have a reservation but the manager kindly got us in. We had constant attention and service was good humour and a smile. Nothing to was too much. Good atmosphere. Will be going back

Beautiful pizza, surroundings and service. You can get the pizza half and half if you get them large so had artichoke and nduja. Large pizzas are absolutely huge and so eye catching. Probably the nicest pizza I’ve had in the UK! The chilli oil and chilli mayo were also out of this world!! Will definitely be going again.

The Parrot is a 14th-century hostelry offering modern pub-style food and real ales. Mungos bar, located in Eliot College, has a modern, slightly space-age ambiance with tables, chairs, and TVs showing various channels. The bar also features a small side room with entertainment options like a pool table and Xbox 360. Additionally, The Parrot boasts one of the best beer gardens in Canterbury where visitors can enjoy diverse menu offerings including vegetarian and vegan dishes.
We had a small lunch here on 3rd of May, shared a creamy woodland wild mushrooms, and a classic burger. The both dishes were so delicious. The burger meat was amazing, was not deep fried, oily beef, juicy, nice one, we really enjoyed. Even It was a busy bank holiday weekend with a nice weather, the staff were so attentive, we were served so quickly with big smiles.

The landlord such a friendly chap let myself and my wife see the function room upstairs, its lke something out of a medievil knights tale......just breathtaking. The good is top notch and great beer, the garden also wow .......Check out the photos

A lovely hidden gem, in an old part of town without many tourists. The food and service was excellent and the building remarkable. The oldest pub in Canterbury and one of the oldest buildings absolutely worth the eight minute walk.

The oldest pub in Canterbury and *well* worth going a few minutes out of your way to visit if you're spending some time in the town. The atmosphere is great and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I had some of the best fish and chips I've ever hard there with an incredibly crispy fish cooked to perfection. I don't even generally like tartar sauce much but their herb mix added to it made it delightful. Their drink offerings are also quite good, I enjoyed a local red ale that was recommended by the staff and was excellent., My wife also greatly enjoyed her pie and cocktail. If you can, check out the upstairs and the garden, both are really quite fun to check out.

Very busy and nice atmosphere but very let down by service. Our order wasn’t placed to kitchen but it was only after I checked in with them that they confirmed this. Obviously a new waitress that was learning but it just made me sad that none of the more senior colleagues were checking in with the tables she was waiting to make sure it was okay. I witnessed a few people being offered ‘free drink’ coupons - possibly due to situations like ours, but some more constructive management could lead to better outcomes and experiences for customers, as we don’t feel like returning.

A perfect breakfast experience from the very first moment. The place has a cozy and thoughtfully designed atmosphere: beautiful decor, friendly service, and an ambiance that invites you to linger. I ordered coffee, an egg omelet, avocado on toast, and a banana and spinach smoothie and it was spectacular… balanced flavors, impeccable presentation, and generous portions without being excessive. Definitely a place I would return to a thousand times. Ideal for starting the day on the right foot, alone or with others. A 10/10 in every way! ☕🍳🥑

The Refectory Kitchen is a beloved casual dining spot in Canterbury, known for its comforting homemade food and great coffee. It has been a staple of the city's food scene for years, attracting students looking for a revitalizing breakfast or brunch after a night out. The eatery takes pride in using locally-sourced ingredients and offers an array of dishes including exotic sandwich fillings and house-cured bacon.
It was a good start to the day to have brunch at Refectory Kitchen. I enjoyed my pancakes and hot chocolate, largely because of the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. They greeted me warmly with no wait time despite having a busy morning. Then patiently recommended food choices. Throughout the meal, they checked on me twice to make sure eveything was fine. To the pretty and efficient-working staff, thank you for your hard work!

Food was good, bacon was a bit salty. Baked beans were good, not too sweet or salty, with lovely tomato sauce. Vibe is the reason we were there. Service was nice, care and made sure you were well served.

We ate here for breakfast all three mornings we were in Canterbury, May 21-23. The service was very friendly and attentive, and when we had breakfast there the first morning, we decided we wouldn't try our luck anywhere else. Great food, and I finally go to try black pudding (which was okay, but not something this American would try very often again). I highly recommend this breakfast restaurant. Clean and cheery restroom.

We went this on Sunday evening. It was a little bit crowded, we have to wait for 20 minutes. But it was worth. I ordered smoked salmon and avocado. There are boiled eggs, salmon, cucumbers and a lot of avocados on a toast. The taste of vinegar was excellent.

Super friendly service with a homey vibe. We got the eggs Benedict and egg royal, both tasted good. The hollandaise lacked some flavor though and unfortunately I was disappointed by the menu advertising it being with and English muffin when it clearly was not. The bread was something more akin to toast bread, no chew and a little flavor. Eggs were cooked well though with a runny yolk

Went to The Refectory Kitchen for breakfast — staff were really welcoming and friendly. Got there early so plenty of tables, but it filled up fast! Great menu with lots of choice. I had the English breakfast (delicious) and my wife had the pancakes, which looked and tasted amazing. Very popular spot — we’ll definitely be going back! Parking is about five minutes away next to the train station. It’s in the old part of the city, so wheelchair access is limited with stairs at the entrance, though staff would likely help. There’s also an outdoor seating area for warmer days.

The food was delicious. Loved that the full English included veges. The garlic mushrooms and tofu were particularly tasty. Recommend getting a juice or smoothie and your coffee elsewhere. Milk steamed to very high temp which curdles some plant milks such as soy 😅 We came back a second time for the food. Tasty cakes to take away as well 🍰

Recommended by our tour guide and indeed it is healthy and delicious. Four stars list though for the attitude of the Indian (?) cashier with glasses. Before cutoff for all other food and she BLUNTLY said she could only do one dish and rang it up right away without asking if wanted anything else - I could have gone for a pastry but I guess no thank you… rude enough that I wouldn’t myself come back

It's in a very central location, near the cathedral, under beautiful arches. Very beautiful spot. One girl at the counter was very helpful, some other a bit less. Food was ok, not the worst, not the best. I got my order slightly wrong, but it wasn't the end of the world, I ate it anyway. The soup of the day in my opinion was a bit acidic.. even if I only had 4-5 spoons, I felt it coming back up few hours later. Maybe was just not a lucky one!

It is such a shame; this used to be one of my favourite cafes in Canterbury. Whilst the food is still tasty, the portion sizes for the price are stupidly small. I paid £11.60 this weekend for a buddha bowl to take away and was given about half of a standard portion that didn’t even cover the bottom of the container, and went less than half the way up the sides. The quantity was probably worth about £5. The staff were absolutely run off their feet and the service was incredibly slow. Really disappointing. Unfortunately, I cannot continue to recommend this spot.

Socialite Rooftop Restaurant & Bar in Canterbury offers a stunning dining experience with panoramic views of the cathedral and medieval rooftops. The venue is divided into three sections, including a relaxed lounge area, a luxurious restaurant side with a chef's table, and a terrace featuring comfortable sofas. Guests can enjoy an excellent selection of drinks and a delicious menu while taking in the breathtaking scenery. The cocktails are particularly noteworthy, and the wine selection is fantastic.
This restaurant tries to be trendy, normally this fails, but in the case of the Socialite, it succeeds. Not only is the place obviously attractive in location and decor, but the food and service is very good. There is something for everyone here, a great view, a DJ and fun surroundings. There is real thought put into the place, including very good acoustics, which mean conversations are easy, without a stuffy atmosphere. It’s not cheap, but I have been several times now and would happily return again.

What a great place to sit, relax and enjoy the views, especially on a lovely sunny afternoon. The seating was very comfortable and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our drinks were served quickly and were both tasty and well presented. Its obviously very popular because it was very busy and not many free seats.

The view is really nice and wherever you sit, you can enjoy the view. Non-alcoholic option is available. The food menu is not very spacious, but mostly with its drinks. It is not a place for children. It's a good option to listen to the head during the day and have fun in the evening

The rooftop dining experience was truly exquisite. The breathtaking view of the cathedral added a magical touch to our evening. The attentive staff catered to our every need, enhancing the overall ambiance. However, the 12% service charge in Canterbury felt a tad excessive. Nonetheless, a five-star experience worth savoring.

Great location for a drink, we didn’t try the food but awesome views of Canterbury, particularly the cathedral and west gate. Look out for the large building on the horizon to the north this is St Edmunds school. The drinks are very expensive but reflect the uniqueness of the location. Happy hour is 5:00 to 6:00 when a few of the cocktails are half price. Service was excellent.

What a disappointment!Went there for my birthday on Sunday. The venue looked so nice but food let me down so much. How on earth you can serve as a main pack of tenderstorm broccoli with few almonds and bread what never came and charge for it £22!That was the worst meal ever! Actually , hard to even call it a main meal. It's just a overpriced side dish! My daughter had roasted vegetables and her plate was more full then mine. Such a shame! First of all I was served a half pint with mould in the foam ?! And in a sticky glass which indicates the need for a line clean and overall better hygiene. Secondly, service is slow we waited ages for our food and when it came out disappointed is an understatement. Chips were barely lukewarm , bao buns overpriced and tasteless. No check back from the two waitresses as they were too busy chatting behind the bar to even notice we weren’t happy. Don’t come here !! I can guarantee better service and food suited to the price in Wetherspoons

What an interesting venue! We had an excellent time with our own space for our karaoke function so that we could make as much noise as we wanted without disturbing other patrons... and we did! Great food and drinks menu and friendly, welcoming staff. If you could have thrown in some air con, it would have been literally perfect! Posh Karaoke was fun and affordable considering the private space and terrace. The karaoke system itself was disappointing; there was a lot of connection issues which a staff member tried to fix and said the owner may come to try and sort it out, but no one came back to check in or anything. We were told we would get a discount for the problems but this didn’t happen. There were 3 mics and only 1 worked really well, the others were very quiet and kept cutting out. We still had a good time but we would have appreciated better service

Old Weavers House is a 16th-century timbered building in Canterbury, offering a unique dining experience with homemade pies and traditional roasts. The riverside terrace provides a tranquil setting with an abundance of plants and flowers. Visitors can also enjoy the dine and boat deal, combining a homemade lunch with a punt on the river. The historic significance of the house, which once sheltered Tudor-era religious refugees, adds to its charm.

A decent spot for lunch. Lots of charm inside but try and get seated outside on the patio with a view of the canal. I had the fish and chips and it was good but needed more seasoning. My lady had the chicken sandwich which was big and tasty. Grab a beer and lunch and then walk over to the canal tours located right next to the restaurant

I wanted a Sunday roast, although they're available here every day, Sunday seemed a good choice for me. I was greeted by a lovely young lady & asked for inside seating as I wanted to see the interior, it has so much character. I wasn't disappointed, I had the roast lamb, the serving was ample, plenty of meat with vegetables, roast potatoes & a lovely Yorkshire pudding. I also opted for a dessert, I had the treacle pudding with ice cream, also delicious. The choices were good, it was one of the best roasts I've had. Great service & lovely atmosphere here, not too busy for a Sunday at 5pm. I'd thoroughly recommend.

The Old Weavers House is conveniently located just around the corner from the Cathedral. We sat at a window table and enjoyed views of the water. Ali was an attentive server and helped us decide what to order. He mentioned that the chips are a different than other local chips and that the meat pies are the specialty of the house. I’d Both were excellent! The roast was perfect and was served with a nice tender Yorkshire pudding. I’d love to come back in warm weather and sample another pie on the outdoor terrace!

This higglety-pigglety building by the canal with its mixed vibe of memories from long ago that takes you back in time. It may seem at first glance to some like some form of tourist trap, but it really isn't. Hina and her crew offered quick service with a smile and attention to detail and the atmosphere in general was really welcoming. Our table all went for one of their homemade pies (chicken and sweetcorn, chicken, brocoli and Stilton, and duck and apricot - if you must know). They were so filling, there just wasn't any room for dessert. The restaurant also has a beer garden at the back, adjacent to the canal, though unfortunately the weather wasn't quite right for it. I can imagine it to be quite pleasant on a summer's day. UPDATE: we visited a few days later for Sunday lunch, but unfortunately it was full - will make reservations next time. Returned the following day and ordered chicken and mushroom pie and fish and chips. Both tasted great. Chips are cut in such a way that leaves an indent in each chip, making them perfect for moping up any sauce left on your plate.

Beautiful little old pub with a nice vibe inside. Staff were super friendly and helpful and the food was really good. Serving size of the Sunday roast had so much meat. Could have done with a cheaper half serve even. Only thing that would make the atmosphere better would be a bit of music.

Charming Experience at The Old Weavers House! I recently visited The Old Weavers House in Canterbury, and it was an absolute delight. Nestled right by the canal, the setting is breathtaking — especially the terrace adorned with grapevines, which adds such a unique and cozy charm. Their wine selection was just right, and the staff were warm, attentive, and knowledgeable — truly top-notch service from start to finish. Best Italian restaurant in Canterbury!💗 Friend and I heard amazing things about this place so we decided to try it out and were unbelievably impressed - we had the gorgonzola gnocchi (best gnocchi of our lives) and the pizza “napoli”, followed by the tiramisu and creme brulee for dessert. Everything was incredible and we cannot wait to come back again to try their other dishes (although we’ll definitely be ordering the gnocchi again too). Service were professional and very lovely and the food came quickly✨

Wonderful Italian restaurant with a varied menu. From specials that included fresh ravioli with porcini and truffle to delicious pizzas. And very reasonable. The desserts are also generous, and cocktails are also on the menu. Great service too, thank you.

Outstanding service, immaculate table setting, and well-prepared, flavourful dishes. Excellent value combined with a calm, quiet atmosphere that made conversation easy. Will certainly return on my next visit to Canterbury

Very nice and cozy Italian restaurant. The server was very friendly and energetic. However, the food arrived 40 mins after ordering and wasn’t the best. Good food, but for the price and authentic style advertised, I expected better . Reserve in advance. Would still recommend for date night or cozy night out with friends

This cute little restaurant is just tucked away outside the city centre. Very nice ambience inside. Pizza was great and had unique toppings, the seafood pasta could use more flavour. The environment could definitely be improved with a bit of background music because it was very very quiet inside and you’re able to hear everyone else’s conversations.

Tiny Tim's Tearoom is a charming and traditional thirties-style tearoom located in Canterbury. It offers a quintessential English experience with its cozy ambiance, live piano music in the afternoons, and a delightful selection of freshly baked goodies for their traditional afternoon teas. The tearoom also serves breakfast and lunch options, including poached eggs on toast, toasted crumpets, and the traditional Kentish 'huffkin.'
Absolutely loved the place!! I had the £14 deal which included two scones and coffee/tea. It was so worth the price. The scones were such good size and they had so many varieties of coffee and teas available. The scones were absolutely delicious. The service was so quick as well. Will definitely be visiting back ❤️

A really quaint place right across from the Marlow Arcade Mall area. It was very busy on a Monday bank holiday weekend. Service as a result was a little slow but courteous staff. Extensive menu with a decent set of options for vegetarians and a really fresh selection of pastries/cakes.

Best afternoon tea we had during our honeymoon. After having a few in London, we kind of came to the conclusion that maybe we don't like afternoon tea very much... but glad we tried again at Tiny Tim's! Their scones are amazing. The teas offered here all tasted AMAZING! The best part? It was so much more affordable than any other place we went to for the experience. Seriously, some in London were like 80 pounds per person, but here it was like 25 pounds for a much better tasting one. It was quite busy when we went, so service was a bit spotty, but it was still fun. Worth a visit for sure!

Absolutely fabulous. Breakfast is superb and the place is very lovely. Great service too. The scones are delicious and served hot.

We went to Tiny Tim's Tearoom because it was recommended to us by friends. We could pick a nice place ourselves. My husband took the cake with lemon and I went for the Pilgrim Scone. Very nice! We liked the decoration in this tearoom: all about autumn and NOT about Halloween. Well done!

I’ve been wanting to visit since their famous “Pudding Club”. Popped in for lunch and was pleased to see it full and doing well. Ended up with a chicken huffkin each, tea, hot chocolate and a scone to share. Absolutely wonderful. Scones as big as your fist and the perfect balance of flavour. This will be the sort of place to bring an older relative for an upscale afternoon tea they will talk about for years to come. We will be back.

Azouma is a family-run restaurant in Canterbury, offering affordable Middle Eastern and Moroccan cuisine in an authentic Arabic setting. The restaurant's traditional Moroccan decor and weekly belly dancing performances create an immersive cultural experience. Located near the historic Canterbury Cathedral, Azouma provides a cozy atmosphere for diners to enjoy dishes like Qousi Lahem, a slow-cooked lamb shank with aromatic spices and rice.
I had a wonderful experience at Azouma Restaurant. Not only is it a halal restaurant with delicious food, but it also goes above and beyond to accommodate its patrons. I was particularly impressed with their flexibility in providing a space for prayer. It’s rare to find a place that caters to both culinary and spiritual needs so well. Additionally, I must mention that Samira, one of the waiters, was incredibly friendly and attentive. Her warm hospitality made our visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great dining experience in a welcoming and considerate environment.

Visited over the Bank Holiday and had an excellent experience! The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, authentic, and full of flavour. Service was just as impressive: our waitress, D, was fantastic, warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. A wonderful spot in Canterbury, highly recommended!

We were there around 13ish when it wasn’t busy at all (maybe 3-4 tables including us)but we waited long time to have our food, approx. 25 mins for starter and another 25mins for main dishes which was quite unpleasant. We ordered 2x grilled meats and 2 Tagine meats for the lunch special menu. The food wasn’t really impressive. Not very good quality of meats and not too much taste. The only thing I like is the rice which has good moisture and taste. The dessert we had was chocolate cake which was kind of dry. Overall the price was good (less than £15 each without service charge) but if there were others options I definitely won’t come back!
CH L — Google review
I ordered a lamb taginr that wasn't a lamb tagine. It was a very watery broth without flavour and sole vegs. Lamb tagine should be more saucy and spiced. This was nothing like it. The service was lovely but the girl in the place seems to be the only one serving clients and working.
Nicolas V — Google review
Not a bad place in Canterbury for a warm and cozy dinner. We got the 3 course tagine meal for £24.95 which had a lot of food. Lamb tagine wasn’t as tender as I’d prefer, but overall the food was decent. Hummus was quite nice!
Jasmine L — Google review
The atmosphere and staff was friendly. However, I was a little disappointed as I ordered a tagine, and the dish served to me (albiet not bad) was not a tagine. No spices inside (notably no cinamon) or prunes or abricot.

Really nice venue. Well laid out with seating downstairs and upstairs. If live music is playing, it can be noisy so ask to be seated upstairs. There are effectively two menus - the cost effective one and the pricey one. We went for the former. Our waitress was knowledgeable and was able to answer our questions. Service was reasonably quick. Food was very nice. Toilets were very clean and well decorated. There was an overflow car park though it was busy and on a really busy night you might need to park down the road.

Went there for a coffee. A long wait for the coffee to arrive and when it did was the most insipid coffee I have ever experienced. Not drinkable. I did mention this to the chap that served me but didn’t seem interested, just looked surprised with a shrug of the shoulders. Definitely never to return. A waste of £7.30 for the two cups.

Great food, great service, amazing beer. Good vibes at the Foundry! To start with the place looks really nice and the staff is so welcoming. Service was amazing, our waiter explained so much about the beer (they brew their own beer). As well as recommending on best options for food. We went for beer tasting, and i went for the burger with bacon and stilton cheese. It was so freaking good and tasty and beer was very interesting and flavourful. The most special one was the 9.8% Alcohol (Porter, forgot the name). In general a very fun and tasty experience. Highly recommended 🙌

Really enjoyed the food and service here. We had a beef brisket sandwich and peri peri chicken sandwich - both hit the spot. The chips stayed nice and crunchy even after a while. Onion rings were mid.But the real winner was the cheesy garlic bread... it was so good we had to order it twice. Hands down the best garlic bread I've had so far. Tried their in house lager too, and that was good.

My wife and I booked The Foundry Brewpub specifically for the Sunday roast and looking at previous reviews what I hoped would be great beer too. When the phone rang a couple of hours ahead of our booking I thought it was going to be cancelling our reservation, we were surprised to be asked if we wanted roast lamb or roast beef as they were so busy they didn't want us to arrive and be sold out - now that is absolutely AMAZING service. The roast were delicious along the two ales I had to accompany my meal. Great service and atmosphere too. Highly recommended.

Excellent balance of new and old at this micro brewery. Emma, who served us was lovely, attentive and have great recommendations for both food and drinks. My steak and Foundry ale pie was enormous and tasty - proper English home pub grub. My 5 year olds burger, chips and peas was a great size and came with a scoop of ice cream to finish. My partners Mediterranean mezze was only the starter portion, but it was plenty for her as a main. The salt and pepper squid was delicious too. I had the tasting tray of beers and they were all very good. My stand out was the Foundry raspberry wheat beer. Highly recommend!

Lovely Turkish restaurant with great food! We walked in for brunch as we were just passing by and they happened to be open. We ordered 2 Turkish Breakfasts and it was delicious! I usually don't bother reviewing, unless I'm impressed or disappointed, and BOY, was I disappointed. Arrived around 1300, our companions ordered first. Their orders came nearly an hour later, around 1400. My wife and my food hadn't arrived by 1430, despite following up several times, and being given the runaround (steak takes longer to cook (?), the system must have been faulty, we were waiting for you to finish with your sides before serving your steak, etc) and by then, our appetites were well done beyond that point. Overall, a bad experience in what was a charming stroll around historic Canturbury. They were able to refund us at the very least. Food: 0/10, since our food never arrived. Our companion's opinions on their orders were negative though. Service: 1/10, had to get a highchair by ourselves, they served food to other patrons first (even though they came AFTER we had ordered our food) and were generally avoidant and frankly snippy with us, giving us the runaround on why our food was late. +1 for processing our refund. Price: 1/10 QUITE expensive for pub food. Even London pubs aren't nearly as expensive. For reference, their sirloin steak costs £25, whilst a high end restaurant at Chelsea serves a delightful ribeye steak, with all the trims and toppings at £32 Atmosphere: 5/10, seen one pub, seen them all. This pub is a bit snug, and cozier than most.

Nice private dining. Listen to the advice. Wine pairing perfect to accompany what we picked. Venison to die for. Frutti Di mare lovely and rich. Will have to come back to share a T Bone

This truly is a hidden gem! It's outside the city walls but just 2 minute walk south east from Fenwick so easily able to have a few drinks around the main high street before your meal. We opted to share a flatbread which was delicious. We then decided to have a pasta as a first course and we both had the venison as a main, all of which, blew us away! Really warm, friendly, welcoming service and simply outstanding authentic food! Would highly recommend. It's quaint, romantic, great value and gastronomically pleasing! Would give it 6 out of 5 if I could!

This restaurant is a very quaint, authentic Italian one. The food is delicious but pricy for what it is. The boys ordered stuffed tortellini I think, which was presented in a lovely bowl but there were 4 tortellini in total. I ordered the crumbed seafood to share for £56. I swear there were more crumbed courgette than actual seafood, unfortunately. The service from the gentleman was stern and lady tried to make up for it with her generous smile and kindness. A very odd experience for my taste, I'm afraid to report. I'm pleased to say that the dessert on the other hand, was lovely.

Our first time to Canterbury and we chose this little place for dinner after a long drive. The owner and chef couldn’t have been nicer. Very friendly and the food looked bellissimo and tasted even better! A great selection of wines. Absolutely recommend

We had a lovely warm welcome and amazing service and food throughout our evening. Would completely recommend especially the roast potatoes and the chocolate mousse!!! I can’t eat gluten and they were so helpful with that as well. What a great evening.

Had high hopes but seriously disappointed—really bad attitude and unfriendly😖 dishes are pricy and small portions, Not recommended!

I arrived with a friend without having booked for dinner and was given their very last table. It’s a family-run restaurant with a smallish pleasantly rustic dining room on the first floor. Although it was very busy the service and the food was excellent. Great informal atmosphere and we were under no pressure to vacate the table at the end of our meal. Will certainly go back.

Marlowe's Restaurant is a cozy and elegant venue located in Canterbury, offering a warm decor and a diverse menu featuring classic British dishes as well as cuisine from around the world. The restaurant is known for its unchanged formula over the years, with walls adorned with signed pictures of famous actors and wax-clad candlesticks. The menu includes hefty burgers, salads, Mexican dishes, and the famous huge fajitas at affordable prices. For those seeking something less exotic, the Canterbury pie is highly recommended.
Went there for dinner tonight and was very happy with my whole order and service. The food was honestly great, found no fault with it whatsoever. The waitress was brilliant and very attentive all night and got us everything we needed being a table of 6 adults and a child. Very happy overall not complaints. Will be back soon.

Solid restaurant with average plus food. Not a disappointment at all, just not fine dining. If you order the lamb make sure to order it medium. It comes out well done if not. Good team. Smiling faces. Clean space. Cool old Hollywood pictures abound.

Lovely restaurant on one of Canterbury’s main streets. Lovely food and a great selection to choose from, including veggie and vegan options. Attentive service, thank you.

Visited lunchtime on 26th September have been here previously quite a few times. On passing the restaurant we at first thought it was closed, as the inside looks quite dark. There is a board outside with menus. The food is superb very tasty, the portions are good size and there is a good choice of food. Food is hot and well presented. Service we could not fault. Lovely staff. Suggestions. Would benefit from a colourful menu and or board, to attract visitors. Tables could have a battery operated candle in coloured glass holder, and more subtle coloured lighting on the walls. (From November the Christmas lights are evident). Although the restaurant offers special two or three course priced menus it could possibly attract more visitors with a senior citizen offers, a weekly special. We will be returning shortly due to the fabulous food and very nice staff.

Great Little restaurant right around the corner from the theatre and the cathedral. We popped in for dinner and had the duck breast and wild mushroom risotto. Both were perfectly prepared and the presentation was top notch as well. The kids had burgers and even those weren't small little burgers - proper portions. The host was very friendly and accommodated us even though we didn't have a reservation. Good service overall. Overall, I was extremely impressed with the Marlowe's. The prices was also very reasonable given the portions and quality of the food. I'll definitely visit again when I'm in Canterbury again.

Marlowe’s is an absolute treat! The set menu is great value, and eating outside gives off a lovely holiday vibe! British weather permitting, of course. The steak was spot-on, the chips hot and crispy, and the calamari? Golden, fresh, and with a batter so light it practically floated off the plate. Dessert was a delight too—a salted caramel heart that felt like a little hug on a plate. The toilets weren’t perfect, but honestly, the food more than makes up for it. Definitely choose Marlowe’s over any chain!

We stopped here for lunch and were absolutely blown away! The vegan options are incredible – so many dishes that I never usually get to have, which made choosing really exciting. It’s so refreshing to see a menu where everyone has plenty of choice. The food itself was delicious, especially the beer-battered onion rings (yes, vegan and absolutely amazing!). On top of that, the service was just delightful – everyone was so kind and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. Dog friendly and lovely garden! Honestly, this is the perfect spot to come on a day out. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

The Moat Tea Rooms is a charming tearoom located in a 500-year-old half-timbered building within Canterbury's city walls. It offers a delightful selection of black, green, and oolong tea blends along with delectable homemade baked goods. The historic setting exudes an old-world charm with exposed beams and wooden floors, providing the perfect backdrop for enjoying breakfast, lunch, or traditional afternoon tea.
What a great visit I had here during my solo trip. Delicious scone and an incredibly cute building which only makes the taste of the food even better. But what made my visit extra special were the heartwarming people working there. They do their job with all their heart and are accommodating to their customers. I really appreciated the conversations and I will remember this forever. Thank you very much for the lovely time! 🫖

Meghan — Google review
The Moat Tea Rooms is a wonderfully cozy spot, tucked away in a charming old crooked Tudor building that feels like stepping back in time. My visit here was a delightful experience. The quaint and intimate atmosphere, paired with the history radiating from the walls, makes it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a peaceful afternoon. We ordered Russian Caravan tea, which had a rich, smoky flavor that felt just right for the setting, alongside a smooth and comforting latte. Despite not being very hungry, we couldn’t resist sharing a slice of cherry and nut pie, which was a great choice. The pie was delicious, with the tartness of the cherries perfectly complemented by the crunch of the nuts. It was a small indulgence, more for the soul than the stomach, and it lifted our spirits on a quiet day. What stood out, besides the food and ambiance, was the warm and friendly staff. They were incredibly kind and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. Their hospitality made us feel truly welcome, and it’s clear they take pride in creating a pleasant and relaxing environment for their guests. I highly recommend The Moat Tea Rooms for anyone looking to escape the bustle of daily life and soak in some historic charm. Whether you're there for a full meal or just a soothing cup of tea, it’s a lovely spot to unwind and treat yourself.

We heard some great things about this spot & decided to give it a try. The Moat Tea Room did not disappoint. We called ahead as I explained we would be popping along with our dog & would they accommodate us. I spoke with Kamal who kindly said that we could have the table by the door. We had such a lovely time here, such a great pit stop after exploring the cathedral. The cakes are delicious & the tea selection is excellent. We can highly recommend “The English Breakfast”. We had a lovely chat with Kamal who made us feel so welcome & we also made friends with other diners, such a welcoming place with great cakes! I’d highly recommend stopping here, love the old fashioned beams too! Great cakes & excellent service, a must visit when in Canterbury.

Super cute tea room with lovely welcoming staffs. To be honest, I'm not a big fan of scones but I finished these two scones by myself. This was the best scone in my life😍

Tasty homemade cakes and flavored tea. The half timbered building looks amazing from both inside and outside. It's a cozy place to relax and have yummy cakes with friends. Highlight of our day trip in Canterbury. I would definitely love to visit again. Their chocolate cake is definitely worth it. The price is quite reasonable. I loved their rose sencha green tea.
Afroza M — Google review
Quaintly atmospheric and cosy and very long standing in the city. Very weak 'Malabar' coffee that tasted stale, and cake that was certainly not today's. £13.50 without service charge for a speciality coffee, a latte and one slice of cake seems high average for the city. On the other hand the very young waiting were personable, and it was a Sunday afternoon.

This is my first meal here, and after reading the reviews I thought why not. And I’m happy I went in, the atmosphere was lovely, very busy, and as everyone said it is older decor, but I loved it, it was cosy sitting in there. The food was outstanding, great quality, came out sizzling hot, and felt I needed to be carried home I was so full. The price was good too, for the amount we ate. The staff were impeccable, The lovely Lisa and Sumaiya, Thankyou for your smiles, grace, and helping when we needed it, you are amazing! Do not be fooled by the size of this place. The customer service and food are absolutely the best, better than some of the best places I have been to. Went with my friend and we were both impressed. We saw that they actually care about their customers, and it was little gestures like offering more when they didn't have to that stole our hearts (in addition to the amazing food). I would most definitely go here again, whenever I visit Canterbury.
Somya P — Google review
Decent food, but i was charged £4 service charge for a £13.45 meal, how is that? It's nearly 30%. I assume that there's a minimum service charge, but that penalises single diners having a small meal, i only had 2 sides a naan and a beer, and i was charged an extra £4 for the privilege. The waitress could not explain the way they calculate the charge, and offered to remove it but I'd rather not get embroiled in a conversation like that leaving a sour taste after a decent meal. Was a shame
Edward ( — Google review
Had a nice conversation with the young man behind the counter, offered me a can of drink for wait as they where busy. (best curry house in canterbury afterall) They serve Peshawari chicken which I've never seen anywhere else before. I've heard random bypassers in the street exclaiming how good they're kashmiri dish is so that is what I'll order next!
David-Benjamin ( — Google review
I've been to several Indian restaurants in the UK, But this is the first time where all the food i ordered was worse than expected in an Indian restaurant. We ordered a Very Hot Chicken Tandoori Mirch Masala and we received a red coloured curry without chicken and when we asked the waiter where the chicken was even he was shocked speechless and he took the dish to bring it back with chicken in the same dish. The second order was a Tandoori Chicken and HALF THE CHICKENS PORTION WAS MISSING!! The pappad was burnt, The Peas Rice was soggy with frozen green peas. The food was bland and their famous "Very Hot Chicken Tandoori Mirch Masala" wasn't even the slightest bit spicy. It was just full of paprika powder. The chutney was sweet and packed with sugar without any spice. The butter naan was just braan (bread + naan) with a piece of butter in the middle of it which wasn't even spread out. I might've been unlucky on this day as the award winning chef might have taken a day off but I realised only after leaving the restaurant that the award was given almost half a decade ago.

Cafe St Pierre, located at 41 St Peter's St in Canterbury, offers a delightful French experience. Run by a Frenchman, this charming cafe exudes an authentic Parisian vibe. Indulge in their delectable baguettes and irresistible cakes while sipping on thick hot chocolates that actually taste like real chocolate. The quaint environment and the option to order in French add to the unique experience.
A Little Taste of France in Canterbury 🇫🇷☕ Café Saint-Pierre is a quaint shop that truly transports you to the streets of France. From the decor to the staff and overall vibe, it felt like a charming French escape. The menu was largely in French—something that might be tricky for some, but we enjoyed the authenticity. We got to pick from a lovely selection of pastries. The ham and cheese croissant was incredibly cheesy with just the right amount of ham—easily one of the better ones I’ve had. 🥐✨ The chocolate croissant was beautifully flaky, buttery, and generously filled. We also tried the German sausage, which was okay—not the highlight, but the sauce was nice. The coffees were good, though I’d recommend adding sugar, as most people seemed to do. A popular choice was the Petit Déjeuner à la Française, a mini breakfast with a piece of bread, a pastry, and coffee for around £7—seemed like a great option for a light start to the day. Overall, a lovely café and a great quick pit stop before exploring the beautiful historic town of Canterbury. Would definitely recommend! 🇫🇷☕

We stumbled upon this lovely café and were so glad we did! They have a beautiful garden area — peaceful, cozy, and perfect for relaxing. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. We had an iced coffee and a cappuccino — both delicious. The food was amazing as well! We tried their famous honey cake, which reminded us a bit of Napoleon cake, but honestly, it was even better. So rich, light, and flavorful — absolutely loved it. We also had croissants, and they were unlike any we’ve tried before. They were sliced open and stuffed generously — mine was filled with ham and cheese, and my girlfriend had one with mushrooms. Super tasty and really unique! Everything was fresh and full of flavor, but what stood out the most was the warm atmosphere and kind staff. Highly recommended!

Restaurant
City Fish Bar is a beloved fish and chips spot in Canterbury, known for its fresh and crispy offerings. The iconic blue and white striped cover gives off seaside vibes, adding to the charm of this popular takeaway joint. With friendly staff and generous portions, it has garnered a loyal following over the years. The fish is cooked to perfection, with flaky and moist texture, while the chips are golden brown on the outside and fluffy inside.
I have been coming to this fish bar for many years. I got an old favourite of cod and chips. It took me back to the first time I tasted their chips. Like glass on the outside with a pillow of flavour inside. The cod was wrapped in a crispy batter that housed some of the sweetest and succulent fish inside. I highly recommend this place to tourist and Canterburian alike. A real gem that otherwise easily be missed.

The food was awfull, water has more flavour than the fish and chips. We got an overdose fat. We gained 5 kilo each. It was like a bathtub filled with fat. Dont go here. We had to put 500 grams of salt on the meal to make it bearable.

What a find, the staff are brilliant, the restaurant looks great and the food sublime. We ordered a fairly large selection of mezze, which were all fabulous, the lambs liver is so yum, they even gave us olives and bread for free. The wine was nice and not over priced, the whole meal was around £65,and we did have a lot. I would have given this a 5 , but I had to use the toilet, oh dear lord they did stink of urine. But I would go again.

Café No.35 is a rising star in the city, quickly gaining popularity among locals for its lunch offerings featuring locally sourced ingredients with an international flair. The menu boasts tempting options like Korean fried chicken with Gochujang sauce, salmon tacos, and signature sandwiches. The cocktails are also noteworthy. On sunny days, guests can enjoy their meals in the charming walled garden. The café is family-friendly and accommodating to little ones, making it a convenient choice for early lunches.
Me and my family had lovely experience here. We stopped in for a drink and some cake - one of our group had a peppermint tea which was made locally and a lovely vegan croissant warmed up, another had a coffee and a gluten free lemon cake and I had a vegan biscoff and ginger milkshake which was divine. It was a lovely atmosphere and the food and drinks were delicious. I'd definitely go again and try some of the cakes! It's always lovely to have more than one dairy or gluten free option.

We went on 2x separate occasions but can only submit one review - excellent breakfast options, nicely cooked & tasty, decent prices as well. Lunch was a bit disappointing, with the salmon & lentil salad, as given the price was £16, the salmon was dry and no flavour to the meal overall. Could only eat a 1/3 of it, however the club 35 sandwich was superb. Friendly staff and delicious coffee, both hot and cold.

Excellent lunch! We had the pulled pork wrap and the mozzarella panini, both were very good. The portion sizes are large so you’ll definitely be full. We also had a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows (both of which came with an extra cost but they were less than 1£). We came with our dog and they offered us a free pup cup! The waitress (whose name we didn’t catch) was very sweet! We recommend 100%!

Beautiful courtyard garden is a hidden gem in the summer too. They have some great events, and the 'sip and paint' evening was great fun! Oh....and it's dog friendly!

We came in for breakfast because this cafe has vegan options. I had the Vegetarian No. 35 breakfast and replaced the egg with tofu to make it vegan. The vegan sausages were lovely! When the breakfast came, the waiter made a point of telling me that the pot of butter was a non dairy spread that came with the slice of toast, which I really appreciated. I had read reviews saying they sometimes have vegan croissants, and luckily, they had one left. It wasn't listed on the table menus, so you have to ask. It was the most beautiful wholemeal blueberry vegan croissant. I was surprised at how flakey it was, considering it was a wholemeal version. Delicious! My husband ordered the Stack No. 35 breakfast bun, which he enjoyed. Two pots of English Breakfast tea later and we were full. The café is spacious inside and comfortable. I will definitely be coming again.

The Monument is a historic pub established in 1803, located at the crossroads of St Dunstans Street, London Road and Whitstable Road for over 400 years. It offers a cozy atmosphere with three beers on handpumps and a tempting food menu. The Bishops Finger, part of the same establishment, features live music and sports screenings while Ye Old Beverlies boasts an open fire and a large menu.
Really nice pub selling good beer, a little walk away from the town centre but easy to find. Wasn't too busy on my visit but still had a nice pint of a beer (Offa) from a brewery I've never come across, Three Legs, well worth a visit.

The menu is not massive but is well thought out and the food and service is amazing definitely not your run of the mill pub grub, in fact I would say it is well up there with quality, taste, value and service hence 5 stars. A highly recommended Real little hidden gem in Canterbury

Canterbury has many public houses, however, most of them belong to the local brewer Shepherd Neame. It is refreshing to find a Free House which is warm and welcoming and serves good food and a different range of beers. The beer is well kept and the food of good quality. It's also dog friendly, even though I don't have a dog 😂. Visited on a Sunday and they had a lovely pianist, playing. It was a really lovely atmosphere and very friendly 🍺❤️🙂

What can I say, amazing food, lovely sized portions in a Vegan restaurant for once!!!!!!! First Vegan restaurant that does ‘pub-food’ right. Service and ambiance were great and the menu (see pictures) was fantastic. They were out of red wine after a festival but that was fine. I will change this rating to a 5 star one when they remove themselves from Gourmet Society after I couldn’t use my card and get 25% off. Apparently this is because of the last owner and they are having trouble coming off the list. Of course they could instead just join GS and that way more people can use the service and make savings!!! OMG the ‘Monumental’ burger is aptly names and just fantastic 😁

This is a must-visit for your visit to Canterbury. A short walk from the station just outside the city walls, the variety of vegan junk food is amazing, and every meal we tried impressed. They also do a range of desserts, vegan beers and cocktails, including veganised versions of a White Russian and Bloody Mary. The staff are friendly and helpful and interior is cosy and clean with a great big beer garden outside.

Great pub! Great food, drinks and staff! I had been to this pub before for bands, and had a great time, this time however we went for food. Pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. First of I'm not vegan but my girlfriend is and I can safely say that I did not miss a thing! Amazing taste (presentation could have been better) but all round really good food. The staff have a friendly and solid rapport. The bar tender makes a great Cuban! Would recommend to all!

A super friendly pub with beautiful interiors and a cosy garden outside. A well curated range of wines & drinks (alcohol free too) and options for vegetarians. A laid back ambience, well suited for groups, couples or solo- I have been as all three and have had an equally good experience. Will be back!

The Falstaff Hotel, located in Canterbury, UK, is a 15th-century coaching inn offering en suite rooms with oak beams and free parking. Situated near the Westgate Towers and within walking distance of Canterbury City center, it provides easy access to attractions such as the Norman Cathedral and castle. The hotel features 46 bedrooms, a beamed lounge for relaxation, and a bar opening onto an outdoor terrace.
We had an excellent stay in the Cosy-type room which was very good despite its entry-level qualification. Location of the hotel is perfect and the parking behind the hotel (at a cost of 12£ for almost 24hrs) is a real advantage.

I was really looking forward to staying at this hotel after seeing it recommended on social media, but unfortunately, our experience was incredibly disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the service was underwhelming. The staff at check-in were unfriendly and unwelcoming, which immediately set the tone. To make matters worse, our room wasn’t ready even though we arrived with our toddler, which made waiting around quite difficult. There was very little empathy or support offered in that moment. When we were finally shown to our room, it was unbearably hot. There was no air conditioning, and the three fans offered just circulated the warm air. The windows were very small, offering little ventilation, and unbelievably, it felt cooler outside than in the room itself. We raised our concerns with staff but were told there were no alternative similar rooms available. To top it off, the shower made the heat even worse, and the room itself was dark and painted in a dull blue that only added to the discomfort. There was barely any natural light, which made the space feel even more oppressive. I can only speak from my personal experience, but for the rate we paid (£270) I expected better. I wouldn’t return.

Like others, I was genuinely looking forward to staying here and reviews around the time I booked had been mostly positive. However, my experience echoes several disappointed recent reviews from the last few months. TL;DR: The rooms are quirky (in a good way) and cosy, but there were frustrating issues with understaffing, unwelcoming attitutes, and a disorganised booking system. The good: the room I booked was comfortable enough, clean, and warm (remember to adjust the radiator on arrival). There was a little noise carryover from outside and adjoining rooms, but not terrible. The newer members of staff who I met during breakfast and checkout were lovely. The location is ideal for the West train station, access to University of Kent, and walkable distance to city centre. The not great: It is an old property and was struggling with maintenance issues during my stay, with water pouring from the 1st floor ceiling around an entryway directly off the stairs, and partly through a flickering fire safety exit light, into ~3 buckets. This was the only clearly marked entrance or exit route towards my room, and it was starting to smell damp the morning I left. The bad: Arrival was frazzled and unwelcoming, especially to guests who arrived early and waited in the bar/restaurant until check-in. One pair of guests who elected to wait asked for a coffee from the bar, but the member of staff sorting check-in information was also the only staff member available for the bar. This is obviously frustrating for the staff, but the tone taken with those guests was unkind. The hotel's cocktail hour was incredibly popular, and guests seated near me complained it took over 30 minutes to get a drink due, again, to understaffing at the bar. The breakfast room was also not ready to receive guests on-time with many staff arriving after breakfast should have started, and the breakfast room was initially freezing and unheated. I had added breakfast to my online reservation prior to arrival and had email confirmation of this, but staff said it was not shown as part of my reservation on check-in leading to me being double charged for breakfast. The hotel's IT system seemed to baffle staff who eventually did resolve my overcharge when I called after checkout, but are unable to update my receipt for accuracy.

A nice hotel with tons of history and charm. We booked for one night and got a room with an open patio perfect for morning tea. The hotel is in an excellent location near to shops, restaurants, the canal tours, the cathedral, and the West Canterbury train station (East Canterbury is about a 12 minute walk). There is a very nice bar on site and a restaurant. You get a complimentary breakfast with various options but you MUST get the English breakfast so delicious! You can also travel to Dover by train for like 20+ dollars and it takes a half hour. Do keep in mind this is an ancient structure so there are no vents in the bathroom or central air but we were there in early August and the weather was perfect. One last thing-we got there early and they let us leave our bags before check in so we could walk around. But when we went to Dover the next day they held our bags until we came back in the late afternoon even after we checked out. Very classy! Thanks to the great staff at The Falstaff!

The room is a huge disappointment. Described as a cosy room, it is more of a prison cell size with windows that don't open properly and I am claustrophobic so I feel totally uncomfortable, the window has a view over the fire escape. Room 8. The staff are nice enough and left chocolate and we were offered a cocktail as compensation but I am NOT enjoying the experience. The bathroom linen had ants which were either in the linen or came in through the pipes. The room is clean the ants aren't a reflection on the cleanliness and the house keeping staff really pleasant but I wouldn't want to be in the room any longer than I have to or other than to sleep in it. The breakfast was ok but really it is such a disappointment and I cannot recommend it.

I had a booking for 2 rooms for 2 couples at the Falstaff Hotel. On entering our separate rooms our friends noticed a loud humming noise - it turned out to be a nearby mechanical plant (perhaps an air conditioning condenser unit?) They complained about the noise and were upgraded to a nicer room on the opposite frontage of the building. We decided to stay in our room as although we could hear the distant hum we were a room or 2 down the corridor. Big mistake! In the dead of night that was all we could hear and although it eventually turned into white noise it was evident that it would disrupt sleep. Worse was to come as at 5.30am the room was lit up brightly as there were no curtains on the window and so no way of shutting out the light. We persevered with the room but the second night was even worse with bright sun n streaming in at 6.00am! These rooms are really not fit for purpose to advertise as they don’t fulfil the basic requirement for a good nights sleep, and should not be on offer to the public. It’s a shame because the rest of the hotel is really nicely fitted out - great lounges, a nice bar and decent breakfast, and plenty of parking at the rear despite its close vicinity to the town centre, and the staff were friendly & helpful, doing their best to work with what they’ve got. The more expensive rooms had curtains and were located away from the noise. The problems need urgently sorting out, and it shouldn’t be the guests job to complain to try to secure a move to a better room when the hotel shouldn’t be using them in the first place.

I’m disappointed because my expectations weren’t met. I had booked a junior suite, so I expected a junior suite. But instead we got an attic room with 2 tiny windows in the slanted ceiling looking out to the sky. The room was spacious, granted, and with a sofa in the corner. And nicely furnished. But an attic room is a double room, not a junior suite.

So bloody delicious! Huge portions. Friendly service. If you love pork crackling this is the place for you. Crackling perfection, tasty burgers and sandwiches. Each main actually comes with some crackling. We didn’t know this and ordered a side of crackling but we got too full and couldn’t finish it. I am still dreaming about this place years after having this when I visited Canterbury!!

Absolutely amazing food!!!!!! The meaty melt and the ribs are a must. A culinary delight. Meat drops of the ribs and the flavour of the oak smoked pork is divine!!! The wide variety of beers too makes it a good mix. The ambience was very good. On a Saturday evening, the place was full but not noisy A place to visit

Pictures can't do the food here justice. (It's good) The staff are always kind, attentitive and I've never had to wait long for the food to arrive. There's always a good atmosphere and is definitely somewhere I would and will be going again. I find the menu a little hard to read at times, in particular the options of sauce and slaw aren't immediately apparent since they're essentially an appendix at the end of a headed section but this small thing isn't enough to bring the rating down.

After hearing a lot of good things about this established local restaurant in Canterbury, I decided to take my sister and a friend there for a late mid-week lunch there a few days ago. Overall the food was pretty good, but the waiting times and service leaves a little to be desired. I and a friend ordered the pulled pork roll with bbq sauce, chilli slaw and fries, and my sister ordered one of the vegetarian options in the cauliflower and red onion pakora burger. The food was delicious, chilli slaw added a nice fragranced flavour to the generously portioned pork roll, and the rolls themselves are baked in-house and are delicious. My sister enjoyed her food too, so the mains were a huge success. Chips are lovely and crispy! My one criticism of the meal would be that the pork scratchings- as wonderfully cooked as the are- were way too salty and had a slightly tainted flavour with the use of what I believe to be some kind of seed- maybe caraway. To me it doesn’t quite work, and if they cut back on the salt and had them straight up and simple, they’d probably be the best hog lumps in the world. The desserts were a hit too, including some ‘chonuts’ dipped in cinnamon with chocolate and toffee apple dips, and a sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. All very delicious, but the one criticism I’d have is the chonuts were quite dense, and perhaps just straight up churros would be a better thing to offer. The service was where this place loses a few stars. The staff themselves are very friendly and helpful, but the trouble was that we were sat round the corner of the room where we weren’t visible to staff walking around, and after we’d finished our meal we had to keep trying to flag a staff member down to order desserts which took a good 20 minutes after finishing our meals. Once we’d ordered desserts, they took a further 20 minutes to arrive which is a tad too much considering the place wasn’t at all busy- maybe 3-4 occupied tables max. Overall though, this is a great little local restaurant that serves great food, good prices, and makes every effort to provide local ingredients and produce.

Absolutely amazing. Place was busy so you knew it would be good but wasn't ready for just how good. The burger/sandwich was hands down the best I've ever had, the relishes, the meats and everything complimented each other perfectly. Have no complaints.... Also the Mac n cheese was godly.

The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food, well, my boyfriend and I diligently waited for it to open up after lockdown to make an hour round trip just to have some of their food. This place is delicious in every meaning of the word. Added bonus the recyclable trays and forks they serve their food on now. I will 100% eat here again and again and again!

Seafood restaurant
Chapman's is a small, casual restaurant located near Westgate Towers in Canterbury. It has been a part of the city's food scene for over thirty years and offers a variety of seafood specialties and brasserie favorites, along with a selection of wines. The restaurant prides itself on serving fresh dishes daily, with all seafood sourced from suppliers on the Kent and Sussex coasts. The menu changes regularly based on the daily catches, ensuring a commitment to freshness.
Looking to try some seafood in Canterbury, our group of 4 decided to make a booking for this restaurant and were incredibly pleasantly surprised upon visiting it. The dishes at this restaurant were very creative and we could all tell that the chef put a lot of effort into them. Some highlights of our meal were the fried oysters and the fish and chips, which had batter that was light and crispy. The runny yolk from the deep fried egg was a perfect fit with the sauce used for the asparagus. The ice cream that came with our dessert was not too sweet and tasted strongly of white chocolate, fitting nicely with the warm cinnamon buns under it. The service was wonderful too. The waitress was incredibly kind and talkative, telling us about life in Canterbury and recommending sightseeing spots for us in the local area. Upon complimenting the chef after we finished our mains, he even increased the portion sizes of our desserts for us! Overall, this was a delightful dining experience and if we ever come back to Canterbury, we'll be sure to return.

Went to this lovely restaurant for my bf’s birthday - completely unplanned and didn’t have any expectations but we were incredibly surprised! We ordered scallops and tuna tartar as starters. The scallops were succulent and cooked to perfection, but the tuna tartar was ok as it was a bit dry without any dressing. There’s room for improvement for the tuna tartar but it didn’t affect the overall experience. For main we had Hake in curry Dahl sauce and whole lemon sole. Both were absolutely delicious! The hake was fusion with the curry sauce, splash of chilli oil and lots of coriander - an explosion of flavours and such a pleasant surprise! The lemon sole was super fresh with silky and buttery flesh and delicate flavours. The service was great too. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would definitely be back!

We ate here as part of a friend's special birthday celebrations. We'd booked for lunch and all fancied the Tasting menu, which was terrific value even before we realised it was half price that day. The food was incredible. Ross is a talented chef. Alysha looked after us perfectly. Nothing was too much trouble. They easily swapped out a starter one of our party with a crab allergy for equally delicious prawns. Presentation and flavours were amazing. If only I lived nearer.

We came for our wedding anniversary on a Friday night. We were the only ones here, but the service and the atmosphere was very nice. We had the tuna tartar and the scallops, followed by roasted hake fillet and monkfish wellington. All of the fish courses were full of flavour and good size portions. The winner for me was the monkfish. The desserts were also really tasty. The chocolate delice tasted like proper real chocolate but the cinnamon bun takes the cake. The portions are generous. I think the main courses are well priced, starter and dessert on the higher end of the spectrum. But the food is worth it. Will definitely come back again!

I was here Monday night and everything went smoothly. We were looking for a place to eat some mussels when I stumble upon this place, so I decided to give it a go. The inside is lovely, and the staff was very welcoming( considering that it was late and after a hard day of work you're smile can sometimes not be so big when you see new customers,:p). The food was delicious and fresh, from what I read online they take pride in serving fresh fish daily, and for me it was true. I tried for my first time the rock oysters, and they were great, can wait to go again and try some more :d. I also recommend the mussels , they were lovely cooked (i tried the wine and cream ones, but they also have Thai green curry and beer leak and mustard)and the portion is very big considering the price, actually, if I think about it I never eat mussels so cheap. Thank you Chapmans for the experience you definitely gone see me again.:)

LOVE this place, though last night it was Very quiet. I can’t understand why?! Anchovies then a couple of oysters to start for me, king prawn with curry mayo followed by half lobster for my wife and sea bass with ravioli for me, the sticky toffee pudding. Every mouthful was absolutely delicious!

The Olive Grove is a charming restaurant in Canterbury that offers a unique blend of Italian and Moroccan cuisine. The cozy atmosphere provides two distinct dining areas, one with an Arabian-style ambiance for Moroccan dishes and another room for Italian food. Students particularly enjoy the affordable two-course meal option. If you're lucky enough to secure a table upstairs, you can enjoy a lovely view of the historical buildings on the high street. The restaurant also offers a buffet option, allowing guests to sample various dishes.
Our first trip to Canterbury turned out to be even more memorable thanks to our wonderful dining experience at Olive Grove. Nestled in a charming setting, this beautiful restaurant offers a delightful menu and a warm, inviting ambience that instantly made us feel welcome. One of the highlights was their thoughtful kids’ menu, which made it a perfect spot for families. A special mention to Diana, our gracious host, whose kindness and recommendations truly elevated our experience. Every dish she suggested was spot on flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. To top it all off, the pricing was surprisingly affordable, making it not just a delicious experience but a value-for-money one as well. I recently had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast at this fantastic French restaurant, and it was an experience I won't soon forget. The service was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and truly made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the black pudding. It was cooked to absolute perfection, with a rich, savory flavour that was unlike anything I’ve ever tasted. The texture was just right—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside—and it paired beautifully with the rest of the breakfast. Every bite was a revelation, showcasing the chef’s skill in elevating a classic dish to new heights. unfortunately I can't praise either the place or the food because of how dirty it is restaurant ,the amount of dust of 1cm ,dirty lamps inside on the table where the food is placed, the layer of dust and dirt on the tables and rest of the food in the corners it’s old dirt and it is terrifying. If there is such an amount of dirt in the room, what must be happening in the kitchen, everything is flying in the air, the restaurant must be sparkling clean, it was a terrible stay there and left a terrible bad taste. Complaint to the manager to no avail, and reporting to the Coty company also without their response to this situation. That’s ruined our family day out . I feel sick after eating there once I spotted dust from being bored after waiting 50 minutes for mains For me it’s not acceptable. I report to manager but he’s reaction was not accurate to situation . Other then that costumer service was friendly and good tasty food if not fact of how dirty it is we Woolf come back now defo will not .

OVERVIEW The food was just OK, a mixture of hit and miss on each plate! PLUS + French-style restaurant with classic comfort food options. + The duck elevated the "confit duck à l'orange" to a 4*. It was moist and juicy of such top quality it could be enjoyed by itself. The braised cabbage was overly sweet, and the gratin was ok. + The “garden breakfast" was at a 3* level. The mushroom patty was of note, the most convincing meat substitute! + The fresh berries“french toast” was at a 3* level. The toast and the toppings were ok, topped with a generous potion of fresh fruit. + Formally welcoming and friendly staff. Michael, a senior member of staff, was the most hospitable and always visible. + Hand sanitisers were placed throughout the restaurant. + Walk-in availability. + Reasonably priced. MINUS - The interior of the restaurant was somewhat run down; therefore, it could benefit from a renovation. - The restaurant could also benefit from a quick, hassle-free table QR code payment method, i.e., the "Sunday" payments app. ORDER HISTORY Main: * Confit Duck À L'Orange Breakfast: * Garden Breakfast * Fresh Berries & Vanilla Crème Fraîche

This was my second time visiting this restaurant, and it was just as wonderful as the first. The food was absolutely delicious – every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect place to enjoy a nice meal. A special shout-out to Antonio, our server, who provided outstanding service. He was friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality these days. Highly recommended – I’ll definitely be back again soon!

I had such a wonderful experience dining at Bills! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. But what really made the evening unforgettable was Romy, our waiter. Romy was incredible— so attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about making sure we had a great time. They made excellent recommendations, checked in at just the right moments, and had this effortless charm that made the whole experience feel special. Honestly, Romy is a gem and a big reason why I’ll definitely be coming back. If you're thinking about visiting, do it — and ask for Romy if you can. You won’t regret it!

Food is very delicious and good price. We are very satisfied!! We ordered set menu. We chose Cauliflower soup, smoked salmon pate, mackerel beetroot. & squash salad, chargrilled chicken. We quite loved them. Coconut milk late and coconut milk flat white were also our favorite! The most stunning thing is the service!! Antonio and Rosie are very friendly and thoughtful!! Their hospitality is very heartwarming:) After eating set menu, we were almost full but we wanted to order pancake, then they offered us smaller options!! That was very helpful. Thank you very much!!! I highly recommend!!

It was my first time in this restaurant and the experience was really enjoyable. I particularly appreciated the gluten free menu with many choices available. Amelia was our server and she took great care of us. Would definitely come back and recommend it!

Had a great visit to Bill’s in Canterbury! Antonio was our server and he was really friendly and attentive. Started off with a pot of tea which was lovely, then had the Ultimate Brunch Burger and the Steak, Egg & Chips – both were tasty and well cooked. Also loved that they offer 20% off with UNiDAYS for students. Great food, great service, and good value!

We had a delightful lunch here. So much to choose from, and the prices were quite reasonable. Quick turnaround on our order, and the staff were very friendly. Pictured are the Big Brunch and shrimp cocktail.

Went here for lunch one Sunday. The server was wonderful, I believe her name was Rasa/Rosa. The shared starter was really nice and set us up for a good meal. Unfortunately, even though the burger was presented well, it was average at best, not very much taste. In theory it sounded great, bacon, fried egg and lots of avocado. It didn't live up to the expectations. The fries were good and the meal wasn't overly expensive in total. I would go back but I would be ordering a different main other than the brunch burger.

I ordered the chicken shawarma plate based on recommendations, and it was absolutely delicious, full of rich, distinctive flavors. Romy was also very friendly and welcoming. Overall, great service and great food.

The County Restaurant at ABode Canterbury is a refined dining option located in the heart of Canterbury. The restaurant offers an innovative menu featuring fresh, local produce and is known for its attentive and friendly staff. Situated on the bustling High Street, it provides a convenient location near shops, cafes, and popular attractions like the Canterbury Tales. Guests can indulge in three-course meals that are wonderfully presented and delicious.
We had the Brasserie Burger, pan fried chicken and the Hereford salt aged rib eye steak which was excellent and cooked to perfection 👌. Cocktails were also lovely
EMANUELE M — Google review
This is a review of the Abode Brasserie. The restaurant is a small plate eatery, we've been to a few small plate places and really enjoyed them, the menu sounded interesting and we wanted something a bit special as we were only in Canterbury for one night. We were met at the entrance by a man who waved us in the general direction of some tables and said we could choose where to sit, bit odd but fine. We sat down and after a few minutes he brought a food menu and explained how it works, that dishes would come when they're ready etc and recommended 2 or 3 dishes each. After about 10 minutes we were brought a drinks menu, then almost immediately we were asked if we were ready to make our drink order. After another 5 minutes (of us looking at drinks) we finally ordered. The first dish that came out (after another 15 minutes of waiting) was the smoked haddock soufflé. It was the size of a cupcake, so a mouthful each. It was a little chewy and bland. £10 for that. Then, a good 10 minutes later the pearl barley ragu with goats cheese came out in a cute saute pan about the size of a saucer. It was also a little chewy, tasty, but with the absence of any other dish the texture was hard work. We noticed the table next to us tucking in to what looked like a marvellous feast while we waited another 15 minutes for another plate. At this point we were considering leaving. The last straw was the lamb ragu which came in a miniature saucepan. There was about 1-2 tbsp of shredded lamb in gravy with peas and a small pile of mini hash browns - the exact same frozen ones we buy for our kids. £13.50 for that dish. I have never complained in a restaurant but I couldn't carry on. I asked if we could pay for what we'd had and go because it had been so bad. The waiter was excellent, very gracious and insisted we try the other dishes for free, which he then retrieved from the pass immediately. Why we had been waiting again i have no idea. The only dish that stood out was the gnocchi with fennel sausage, but at £12.50 for 4 bits of gnocchi and half a mashed sausage is madness. If the food had been outstanding it may have been worth the time and cost but it was disappointing at every turn. The 2 stars are for the waiter who did his best to turn it round!

Had a pre theatre meal here, so restaurant was fairly empty. Food was decent, but not as fine dining as I'd hoped for in a luxury hotel. Bar on other hand was lively with good service. Disappointed to find in the ladies toilets, sanitary bin full to overflowing. I'm not sure I'd revisit.
SUSANNAH R — Google review
I had dinner and breakfast here as a package and it was excellent. The dinner was three courses, wonderfully presented and tasted great. The service was very good and breakfast was equally enjoyable.
Richard M — Google review
This was a real gem. We loved the concept with several smaller dishes to share, and the quality of the food was superb. Service was very attentive and top class. Maximum value for the money.
Anders L — Google review
I was a little bit hesitant going here as per the Google reviews but I'm pleased we gave it a chance. We chose the three courses and enjoyed some really nice food served by very attentive and friendly staff (Claudio was especially good). I had the asparagus, hake, and banana dishes and found all enjoyable with some nice touches (the hake, for example, was cooked beautifully with accompaniments full of flavour). We did notice that the restaurant was quiet at a peak period and wondered whether the online feedback had played a part in that - a real pity given that the staff clearly cared about the experience and wanted to see people walk away happy. We look forward to visiting again in the future 😊

We went to the Abode for a drink in the bar and were not dining. However due to the bar being busy, we were shown to an area between the bar, restaurant and rooms etc. It was just basically a spare space with tables and chairs, nothing special a sort of betwixt and between feeling. You pay a premium on the drinks so you expect to feel it's a comfortable place to be. I have to say sorry I want to say the service was really good and the bar team were really nice.

The Canterbury branch truly exceeded our expectations. The service was outstanding: friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The food was beyond good; every dish we ordered was spot on. Highly recommend the truffle fries, chicken, seafood risotto, and lasagne, each one packed with flavor and beautifully presented. Everyone in our group was happy with their meal. Top-notch hospitality and a great dining experience overall. We'll definitely be back!

We were greeted warmly and seated in a comfortable area. The staff checked for any allergies and took our orders. The food was presented beautifully and was very tasty. There was a delay between the starter and the main course but it was a rather hot day and there was only one chef on duty. The staff were friendly and ensured that we had what we needed. One can sit inside but there is seating in the outside back area. The facilities were clean but the flush of the toilets needs checking. We would be happy to go again.

Went here today as the menu looked good from outside. The place was beautiful, even the toilets were nice especially with the decor. The waitress Rumy was quick and efficient and extremely helpful and friendly especially as my friend had special dietary requirements. The food was great portion size and so were the drinks. The quality of the food was delicious and the pricing was very good especially for the portion size. All courses of the menu looked great and a good selection of choice. The staff we friendly the whole way through. Rumy was a great waitress

Good service, , pizza, salad and sandwiches were fine. You should definitely try the seafood risotto and linguine , it is exceptional. You can ask for your food to be cooked without wine if you prefer it.

I’m a little late writing this review but I just wanted to thank the Canterbury team from the bottom of my heart for making my birthday special back in January. I am on chemo so they kindly made something fresh for me that works with my restrictive food schedule and they gave me a complimentary dessert, which was delicious. Faith, Jade, the chefs, and I think the last person was Tia, really went above and beyond and it’s the kindest treatment I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Thank you so much for making it a special evening and for catering to my unfortunate needs, I have never forgotten it and I will be back!

Stumbled upon this place while wandering about, looks very nice. Sat in the lovely back garden and the staff were so friendly. I ordered a thin based pizza, you have to pay extra for this and my partner ordered a risotto along with a side salad, and lastly a bottle of wine. After waiting a stupid amount of time my partner got up to investigate where the wine had got too. She discovered the wine sitting on the bar next to the side salad, after a brief chat , with the now less friendly member of staff, who was fiddling with her phone, we had the wine and salad delivered to our table. In due course the meals arrived, the pizza was nice but the base was over cooked , but my partner liked the risotto. My main problem with this place is we had to keep asking for things, the tables inside had all the condiments you could wish for , but outside nothing, so we had to keep on requesting things. So why am I paying a service charge when there is no service. All in all generally average.
Steve O — Google review
We arrived without a booking for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and they were able to seat us upstairs as we had a big group. Felt like we had our own private dining. We all opted for the 2 and 3 course lunch menus. Soup of the day was cauliflower soup. Majority of us had the fishcake for the starter. The rosemary garlic bread had a nice texture, but there was too much herbs on it. For drinks, I had a tropical fruit cooler mocktail, it was a bit too sweet for my liking. The kiwi and mint mocktail was nicer. For the mains, I chose the lighter option of having a smaller portion of pasta which comes with a salad. It was enough to eat. I chose the spaghetti bolognese. For some reason, the children’s portion came with cheese but not the adults. We ordered desserts too as we saw reviews about the sticky toffee pudding. This cake was very soft and moist. Food wise, it was ok - nice, simple, and healthy lunch. Service was good as staff were friendly. Downstairs toilet is small, the one upstairs is better. We found out the lunch menu was actually not available on the weekend, but we were allowed to order from it. Luckily they allowed us to have the same rate in the end.

Oscar & Bentleys is a charming British bistro located on Guildhall Street, known for its award-winning 100% gluten-free menu. Founded by two sisters with a coeliac mother, the restaurant has gained recognition as one of the best allergy-aware eateries in the UK. The menu features a fusion of regional and international dishes, from traditional pub classics like gourmet burgers and fish and chips to more upscale options such as duck hash and blackened cajun salmon.
Gorgeous food and everything gluten free. As they had several vegan options, it meant that I had lots to choose from! I loved the delicious food I had and my husband said his meal was lovely too. My meal included Aubergine Katsu Curry and a vegan brownie. My husband's meal included pork and then a kind of cherry tart. I didn't pay enough attention to what his dishes were called! We had courgette fritters and houmous with crudites for starters too, but I didn't get photos of those. Everything was beautifully presented and very flavourful.

This restaurant in Canterbury is truly exceptional, deserving the title of the best in town. From the delectable food to the excellent service and inviting atmosphere, it provided an amazing dining experience. The restaurant's meticulous attention to detail was evident in every aspect. I opted for their signature dish, the Dirty Burger with potato wedges, and it exceeded my expectations. The burger was generously sized and bursting with flavor, while the potato wedges were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. This restaurant is a must-visit, delivering an unforgettable culinary journey.

Amazing gluten free food. This is a 5 for me but not for my partner who isn't gluten free. I had the beer battered fish and chips and it was amazing. Haven't had a fish and chips like that for so long. It was a huge portion and perfectly cooked. Funnily enough the batter sort of looked like a fish as shown in my picture. My partner just had the tempura and thought it wasn't very nice. Just not Japanese? 4/5 stars for her.

Absolutely amazing place to eat. The food and service so wonderful. Lots of vegetarian/ Vegan choices. And dog friendly, which is great for the centre of Canterbury. We had a mixture of starters between two people, and vegan sticky toffee pud, and vegan crumble for desert, both absolutely yummy.

Cozy little bistro tucked away in the heart of the city. Very interesting mix of dishes on the menu, and always something new to try! Lots of vegan options too. Nestled in a charming 15th-century building, The Ancient Raj is a delightful traditional Indian restaurant that brings the vibrant flavors of India to Canterbury. This culinary gem offers an impressive array of dishes, including tantalizing curries, fragrant biryanis, and mouthwatering tandoori options. A standout recommendation is their Chicken Dhakeshwari, which features a delectable blend of coconut and mango pulp with mild spices.
Very good food and service! My Wife and friends love this particular cuisine and certainly loved the food here, I personally don't usually choose it however I also thoroughly enjoyed the food. We would all happily return again and recommend a visit or they offer take out. The service was great from all the staff, they were attentive, polite and friendly. There is a car park opposite the restaurant but for the cheapest parking in Canterbury is usually castle streets multi story.

What a great place! Turned up without a reservation, and was seated within minutes (was very busy thou). We had a young trainee as our waiter and he was great. Next on to the food, one of the condiments for the poppadoms was very different it looked dry but was full of flavour and was moist, it was delicious. The two mains we shared had a very good potion size of meat in them and both were great in taste. Very difficult to fault anything.

Bit of a late review but went for a valentines day dinner. Cocktails were amazing ! Great gluten free options. Wasn't the greatest fan of the layout for the day as we were very close to other couples and struggled pulling chairs out as we was back to back. Otherwise good was delicious , service was great and would come back again.

Loved the place, but I think selling the meal without including the fries is a bit of a rip off. You are then forced to buy the sides cause the burger on its own, not sufficient. It's a little pricey for my liking and also the drinks. The burger was already, £20, then you added the drinks, and then you add the sides, and you well over 30 before you even have the dessert 🍨 🥧 🍦 . The place is lovely and the ambience is amazing, clean toilets and the staff was amazing, even though we were many, the smiles on their faces never changed. Thank you, we all had a nice time.

I was genuinely impressed with the service and food quality at this particular Prezzo Canterbury. Having dined at several of their branches, I can confidently say this one is the best. The level of service is truly exceptional, and the staff goes above and beyond to ensure a great experience. Unfortunately, I can't recall the name of one staff member who really made an impact during my visit. When I asked if I could charge my phone, she immediately stepped in to assist me by finding a charging station and checking in periodically to ensure everything was alright. She really exceeded my expectations, and I feel it’s important to recognise her outstanding effort.

Highly recommend asking for her if you’re visiting Prezzo!

A pleasant find whilst looking around Canterbury. Situated right in the middle of the town. It has outside seating (on the street) and an air conditioned interior. As the name suggests, it specialises in Italian cuisine and doesn't disappoint. The staff are super friendly and the interior is squeaky clean. It boasts a five star hygiene rating. My seven year old granddaughter enjoyed her spaghetti Bolognese and my Rigatoni with Bolognese was delightful. Unusually, I wasn't given any bread with the tomato soup that I ordered. Prices are reasonable and the portions, while not excessive, are good. I would definitely return.

I’ve been to a many Italian Pizza places. All the Big Shots. The high end, crème of the creme. The bough. Examples like Pizza Express, Domino’s, Pizza Hut and Pizza City down the end of my road. And a, many more. The service was okay to be Frank, I was offered water, the still variety, which I didn’t ask and was going to get charged for but that’s okay, humans makes mistakes. The starters I have ordered, the mozzarella sticks tasted amazing HOWEVER the cheese wasn’t fully melted through so it was cold in the middle, I expected a cheese pull which everybody loves but it was cold in the middle but hot in the ends. The sauce was amazing however. The calamari was great as well… but I didn’t expect the price to be that much for a few pieces. The pizza I’ve had was not the best, it tasted fine don’t get me wrong, although the pizza tasted like any other pizza I could have gotten anywhere else like Pizza City. Overall, the prices were very not friendly, very not lmfao, and I did enjoy the food. To the extent. Overall making this place pretty good!

Excellent service thanks to Tess! The food was very good and would have got a 5 star rating but they have replaced arrancini on the menu with "pasticini" which replaces the rice with pasta. BAD MOVE - while the flavour was good and the coating beautifully crispy, the soggy pasta gave them a texture of glue. I certainly won't be ordering them again. Bring back proper arrancini!

Very good meal, the drink selection was good and the service was excellent. The star is lost as £16 for the roast although good quality was steep for the quantity of food received. The dessert selection on the Sunday menu was quite limited which meant none of our group had dessert. The Cajun chicken burger a member of our group had looked amazing and got a good review from him. I would choose this if I went on a Sunday again.

Chestfield Barn is a charming venue with a lovely interior and a pleasant atmosphere. The food is generally great, although there have been some inconsistencies in the preparation of certain dishes. We went to Chestfield Barn for my grandmother’s 86th birthday and had such a lovely time. We were a group of 7 adults plus my toddler, and it was perfect for all of us. The place is beautiful and full of charm, with a lovely fish pond outside. They even gave us food to feed the fish, which absolutely made my baby’s day! Pretty good 'pub grub' 👍 but not great value when you add in the pricy drinks. Staff were really lovely but busy. Chairs were uncomfortable and we were sat on a slope with not enough room. OK, I know it's called 'the Barn' but level off the floor! A beautiful building but needs the food to match the quality of the setting.

The Posillipo Italian restaurant in Canterbury is a great place to enjoy a wood-fired pizza, seasonal dishes, and wine-filled shelves. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The food is top quality, and there's plenty of seating available.
The food, drink, service, and setting were all fantastic! We love visiting Italy, so when we wanted to have an authentic dining experience, with a friendly, homely atmosphere, but with things done properly, based on reviews, we chose Posillipo! It didn’t disappoint! We really enjoyed ourselves, our food, and our company (staff included!), and came away feeling content and relaxed. Thank you for a lovely evening! We’ll be back next time we’re in Canterbury!

Went as a table of 6 with a child. Staff were incredibly welcoming and food was brilliant, reliable Italian. The wine was some of the best I’ve ever had and they had a large vegan menu which was incredibly accommodating. We did ask to order our food with our drinks but were asked to wait which is the only reason it has been marked down to 4 stars. Sometimes you’re on a time limit, especially with a three year old! Otherwise it was a perfect meal!

Posillipo in Canterbury is a wonderful Italian restaurant that offers an authentic and enjoyable dining experience from start to finish. The warm, rustic décor creates a cosy and welcoming atmosphere the moment you step inside, and the staff are friendly, attentive, and make you feel very well looked after. The food is the real highlight. The menu offers a great choice of classic Italian dishes, from fresh pasta and perfectly cooked seafood to delicious, wood-fired pizzas. Everything feels thoughtfully prepared, full of flavour, and made with excellent ingredients. It’s the kind of place where every dish tastes homemade — but better. Portion sizes are satisfying, and the pricing is reasonable for the quality. Whether you’re out for a relaxed meal, a special evening, or simply craving good Italian food, Posillipo is an excellent choice. Overall, this is one of the best Italian restaurants in Canterbury. Highly recommended for its lovely atmosphere, delicious food, and consistently warm service.

From beginning to end the service at Posillipo was excellent. Staff were friendly and efficient. Both my husband and I enjoyed our meal and wish we had space for dessert so we’ll have to come back! There are tables both inside and outside. I had made a reservation but it wasn’t necessary when we were there.

I visited with my mum on a sunny Saturday evening. We didn't have a booking but they accommodated us with a table outside. Service from Nicolas was brilliant - such a warm personality and struck the balance of good service without being overbearing perfectly. We ordered the salmon with prawns, and the cod dish. Sides of sautéed potatoes and a courgette salad. All the food was delish and managed to squeeze in some Tiramisu for dessert. We live an hour and a half away from Canterbury and my mum said she'd come back just for this restaurant alone!

Ordered the seafood risotto, the portion was huge (1.5 portion size?) and tasted good. But some of the mussels and clams weren’t purged enough 🥲 The waitress recommended posillipo and gnocchi pasta too but sadly I didn’t have enough time to go back.

The great Italian restaurant in front of King School Canterbury. I come here in summer. It is so nice to sit outside.

The only good thing about it was the cocktale , the pasta was ridiculious , no taste .string smell of meat no proper seasoning. No balance btwn the pasta and sauce . Would not recommond at all. To pay all that money only for u to leave the place hungry

Korean restaurant
Fusion restaurant
Restaurant
The Korean Cowgirl is a small, smoke-filled eatery in the heart of Canterbury serving up world-inspired cuisine such as beef brisket and pulled pork burgers. The menu also includes Korean fried chicken and sweet potato fries, both of which are unusual choices for UK restaurateurs, but that definitely don’t compromise on quality. The space is cool and rustic with exposed beams and walls lined with friendly caricatures of cowboys that give the place an almost comical feel.
Very nice here, food is plentiful. We had a house smash burger, sweet potato fries and a Korean chicken and rice. Slightly spicy chicken that was just right with great flavours. The burger was tasty too with a nice smoked flavour with a cute soft bun. Merlot red wine and a‘cheeky’ Lager. Yum 😋
Edoardo M — Google review
Tucked along the tranquil riverside, The Korean Cowgirl is more than just a dining experience — it’s a culinary statement. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels both lively and intimate. The staff are impeccably polite, attentive without being intrusive, and carry a genuine warmth that makes you feel like a valued guest. But it’s the food that truly sets this place apart. Every dish served speaks of ambition and attention to detail — it’s evident that this restaurant is not simply content with being good; it’s clearly on a thoughtful journey toward Michelin-level excellence. The BBQ meat platter is a carnivore’s dream — smoky, tender, and beautifully seasoned. Each bite delivers the depth of well-marinated meat, grilled to a perfect char without losing moisture. It’s a bold, satisfying ensemble that respects the roots of Korean barbecue while elevating it with finesse. The real star of the meal, however, was the ramen broth — a deeply rich, soul-warming soup that tells a story of hours of careful simmering. You can taste the essence of slow-cooked meat in every spoonful. It’s the kind of broth that silences the table as everyone savours its intensity. And let’s not forget the kids’ menu — often an afterthought in many restaurants, but not here. The French-style cinnamon sticks were surprisingly delightful: crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, with just the right amount of sweetness and spice. A treat good enough to make adults jealous. In short, The Korean Cowgirl, Riverside is a rare gem — a restaurant with heart, vision, and a serious talent in the kitchen. It balances comfort and sophistication with ease, and if it continues down this path, a Michelin star wouldn’t just be a dream — it would be well-deserved.

Came here for a work meal…. Absolutely delicious food! The BBQ mini board was absolutely worth it and a perfect size for one person, the sweat potato chips were also great!!! The service was speedy and the drinks were also great! The atmosphere was nice and for a Tuesday night the restaurant was not packed. The restaurant is in a good area of Canterbury and really recommend this place!

We vistited for a birthday celebration. Food was good, decor was great. Service was fab. What we didnt like was that you had to order chips as a separate dish to have with burger. And service charge is a whopping 20% added to bill automatically, so nearly £40 service charge for 5 people 😠 I supidly didnt notice until I'd already paid. If we go again I will be sure to pay with cash and add a tip at my discretion.

We ordered Rice Bowl, Wings and crispy cauliflower for two of us. Rice bowl and wings were top notch and good quantity, crispy cauliflower was a bit sweet as it has pineapple sauce. The Service was decent.
Saikiran K — Google review
First time we finally made it. Early summer evening- we really should’ve booked, hahaha. Sat the bar- the food is outstanding- recommend the Korean cauliflower bites, the cherry baby back ribs and burnt ends. Also, the bartender knows his cocktails. Staff are on it and very genuinely friendly.

I have heard some really great things about this place and every one of them was true. The food was absolutely amazing I don't think I've ever tasted anything like it. We were served by Rob W and the service was superb. We will definitely be back 😄

Nestled in the heart of Canterbury on High Street, The Gourmet Sausage & Burger Co. has become a beloved destination for food lovers over its impressive 13-year tenure. Renowned for its delectable selection of German and English sausages alongside mouthwatering burgers, this eatery is a must-visit while exploring the city. With an extensive menu featuring foot-long sausages, juicy beef and chicken burgers, as well as loaded fries, there's something to satisfy every craving.
Review: We stopped by this food stand for a quick lunch while walking around Canterbury and were pleasantly surprised! We had regular hot dogs, and they were delicious—perfectly cooked with great flavor. The service was excellent too—friendly and efficient. It’s a fun, no-fuss option if you’re looking for a quick and tasty bite while exploring the city. Highly recommend!

Overall it was ok. The taste was good. I had a cheeseburger ( burger topped with cheddar cheese) which was greasy and I don’t suggest that. I will suggest beef burger if you want to have a better experience and don’t like greasy food.
Amir S — Google review
It's a cute hot dog stand on the Canterbury High Street which sells pretty good food. The bratwurst was good and I especially liked the caramelised onions on top. They've got loads of options and the 'small' sized dog is good enough for most people unless you're VERY hungry. Would definitely recommend.
Ogaga O — Google review
Relocating from London, and I have to admit the best burger I had in UK so far. Cleanly cooked, juicy and complimented by a lovely customer service. Located in the centre of Canterbury, this is a must stop if you fancy a burger or german style frankfurter. Attention to detail, and small things like not burning the meat and getting rid if dirty oil really jumped to my eye. These guys have been doing this for long and very well too. Wish you all well in business, and you gained a new customer.

Super delicious hot dog. We opted for the cheese and onion English style foot long and it was to die for. They also took such care with preparing it to make sure every bit was amazing

Really good burger from a food truck! Juicy beef, perfectly cooked with caramelised onions and melted cheese. There are benches nearby to sit and eat your food.

Best hotdog of my life. They are made to order and absolutely loaded with toppings. It was a huge portion for £9.50 - we were stuffed for hours. Service was speedy and friendly. My only regret is that it’s a long way from Canada to get another!

My friend and I had one of Gourmet Sausage and Burger Co’s burgers on my last visit to England and haven’t had a burger as good since! The cheese torch is something that lives in my dreams! Also the staff are super friendly and great to chat with while you wait! Highly recommend. Thank you!

Had a meal today (Fathers Day) may I say the food was beyond wonderful, many thanks to the brilliant Chef Scott and his team, the food was hot, very tasty and well presented. The Front of House Staff were also Brilliant, We were made to feel very welcome, lovely atmosphere the Manager Adam served us. Such a positive and cheerful man, couldn’t fault his attention to the customers. All the staff were very cheerful and on the ball. Will be returning very soon. Thank you for making our day brilliant

We chose The Prince of Wales for our Anniversary lunch. We hadn't booked, but took a chance as it was towards the end of lunch time servings. We were given a friendly welcome and told to choose where we would like to sit. We sat at a lovely table tucked into the corner, over looking the front. There are a few different areas to choose from, all with great character, including the garden. Our waiter was very friendly and swiftly brought our drinks orders over along with the menue. My husband can be a little fussy where food is concerned, however there was a great choice for him, plus some lovely specials. We shared the Beef Brisket Croquettes with horseradish sauce, followed by the steak and mushroom pie for hubby, and the stuffed chicken for me. Everything was very fresh and cooked to perfection and presented beautufully 👌 Timings were great, a little time between each courses, we never felt rushed. Not sure if we wanted desserts, but was soon swayed by the fact that 95% of desserts are made on site. I ordered the Cheesecake, which was mixed berries with a large dollop of delicious ice cream. My husband, who didn't want a dessert, gave in to the Gypsy Tart, again with ice cream. Both desserts were delicious, genorous and again beautifully presented. Sadly my phone died so I didnt get a photograph of them. The young lady and our waiter were very friendly and happy to chat. They asked if we had enjoyed our meal and hoped that everything was ok. It certainly was, we loved the food, the atmosphere, the friendliness. We would highly recommend this countryside pub and will definitely return.

Had a birthday meal here with my mother in law! Such a lovely little pub. Food was fantastic and it's very cute. I've driven past this place so many times but had never gone in. I'm so glad I did. Will definitely be returning. It's dog friendly also which is fantastic 😍

Went for the lunchtime special which I think was £17 for a drink and limited menu. I absolutely should have gone for a lovely looking sandwich but instead got a ploughman's which had 2 slices of cheese and 4 crackers with some salad and pickle. I was still hungry afterwards and they gave me blue cheese initially even though I had asked explicitly for cheddar instead. It was a very limited menu on the lunch special so if you have dietary preferences you may have to go to the larger main menu. Service was extremely slow and I think we waited over 30mins for two sandwiches and a ploughman's which felt a little excessive.

November can be a very gloomy month, with days getting shorter and colder. The Prince of wales may be tucked away, but it is a little gem of pub. Warm and comforting atmosphere throughout and I am not just talking about the log fire. The staff are always a delight and give you a hearty welcome and ensure you're are taken care off. The food as always was wonderful Thank you as always for a wonderful Sunday Lunch. I am sure I will be back very soon.

The Prince of Wales is a little gem. There is a lovely garden for Al fresco eating. As soon as you walk in the door you feel a friendly ambience being greeted immediately by a member of staff. The inside is decorated beautifully. The meals were absolutely delicious, there was seven of us and we all enjoyed every dish we ate. All the staff were attentive and friendly. We had an excellent evening here. Thank you. 😊

We went for a lovely roast on Sunday for my birthday, and we all loved the food, it was delicious! Beautiful flavours, beef cooked perfectly. My children are asking to return, even though my son struggled at first, as he can become overwhelmed in new places but they were very understanding and accommodating. We will be returning!!

We came here on Saturday- never been so didn’t know what to expect. The land lady is amazing- what you see is what you get kind of person with a great sense of humour. They kindly moved us outside as the weather too glorious to waste! Then the food came OMG! Absolutely amazing from presentation to taste! Very efficient! The girl serving (I forgot her name which makes me feel bad as she did tell us!) but she was absolutely adorable! They were attentive but not over the top, good pricey but worth it and service amazing! Will be our now favourite pub for special occasions and will recommend to anyone that asks! Thanks guys!
