Airport
International airport
Osaka International Airport is a hub for domestic flights and offers convenient rail service to Kyoto, Kobe, and other areas in Osaka. Nearby accommodations include Guest House Yadomaru, located just 500 meters from Tempozan Ferris Wheel, and Hotel Royal Classic Osaka in the city center. The airport provides easy access via monorail with clean facilities, fast internet, diverse shopping options, and a variety of dining choices available for travelers.
I was really impressed with Osaka airport in Tokyo, also known as Itami airport for its service, shopping, and decor. From its cute airplane mascot stuffed animals to the colourful moss mural, it brought life to the airport, which can be cold and lifeless. The shopping had interesting stores with great gift option, wonderful food, including soul satisfying noodle soup and ramen, to lovely treats. Gaming chairs at long tables and the sheer variety of seating and tables options was also a lovely touch and greatly appreciated. I was also shocked to see staff physically catching the luggage on the conveyor belt so the bags didn’t drop and get damaged. A woman was there right away when the conveyor belt started and caught the bags until another associate came to take over. That just doesn’t happen nowadays and it shows how much the staff cares. I also appreciated the Halloween decorations and the real plants that made the airport a living place. The Itami airport is not just a place to get on a plane, but a lovely way to explore and experience Japan as well!

Check in and baggage drop-off was a breeze. It is empty. Security was really fast with no line ups. Lots of food options and seating. Washrooms very clean. Faculties for kids and babies.
Edmond W — Google review
Convenient for the north side of Osaka, compact, clean, efficient. In fun facts, although the airport retains the “international” in its name, it serves only domestic routes. And Itami is of course in Hyogo rather than Osaka; the airport is on the border and has land in both jurisdictions. Competes with the bullet train.
Timothy P — Google review
It is one of the safest and cleanest domestic airports in Japan. Although it may have physical limitations and selected food and souvenir items, its restaurants and restrooms are good enough to ease the burdens of long travel. We look forward to flying in more domestic flights in the future.
Magdalene — Google review
We fly from Itami airport to Narita airport. The check in and luggage process were smooth and good, JAL counters were in North gate. There are some shops and restaurants before and after the security check. Very convenient and not so crowded. Plenty of sitting area to have some snacks from vending machines and souvenir shops. Access to Itami airport is quite easy and convenient. We use Midosuji subway to Senri-Chuo and change to Osaka Monorail. Hassle-free and all within 1000 yen.
Jessie O — Google review
This is what a 21st Century Airport should look like. Comfortable seats, clean, nice decor, and excellent food options!

One of the easiest airports i have ever navigated. The airport security is lightning fast less than 5 minutes for me. Make sure you check out their observatory.

Nature & Parks
Itami Sky Park is an ideal destination for aviation enthusiasts and families alike. This park offers a close-up view of plane landings and departures, alongside a playground, garden, and maze. You can enjoy ample parking, toilets facilities, and the park remains open from 9 am to 9 pm throughout November. It's a great place for kids to play on the playground while watching planes take off and land. Despite windy weather conditions today, visitors still enjoyed this lovely park.
What a wonderful park! Free to enter and it’s as a close as you can possibly get to a runway. Great place for planespotting while the kids have fun playing at the huge playground. There’s also a cafe but we didn’t buy anything there.

✈️ Itami Sky Park – Best Spot to Watch Planes Up Close This was my first time staying so close to a runway and watching airplanes land and take off — such an exciting experience! Itami Sky Park gives you the best view of Osaka International Airport (Itami) without any buildings blocking your sight. The park is beautifully designed. There are green spaces, steps, and platforms at different heights so you can enjoy watching flights from many angles. Honestly, I would give it 10 stars just for the design alone 🌿✈️ Great spot for families with kids! My child loved the Adventure Hill area with slides, a 3D maze, and a sand pit 🛝 💡 Tip: Bring some food and drinks for lunch or an afternoon picnic. You can easily spend a few relaxing hours here. We had a great time and would love to come back again.
Bean J — Google review
If you're a fan of aviation, then there's nothing quite like watching planes take off and land up close. The experience of watching planes take off and land is truly unique and thrilling. The sheer size of the planes and the noise they produce is awe-inspiring, and you can feel the power of the engines as they roar past you.
Binod P — Google review
Car park is 300 yen and there are three car parks . Great place to watch all the planes landing and taking off. Plenty of seating both open and shaded. A small snack shop. Multiple clean toilets. Very nice place to relax. Kids loved it.
Adrian K — Google review
It's a great place to take you kids to see airplanes take off. My kid enjoyed it very much.

Highly recommended to visit if you have time before taking flights from ITM airport. 6 bus stops from ITM airport / 210¥ which leaves from the bus stop 7. The tarmac view is especially when B787 and A350 take off.

It was very windy today but still kids enjoyed. A very nice place for kids to play on the playground and see plane ✈️ taking off and landing. Best place to visit without winter days.

Art Museums
The Itami City Museum of Art is a modern exhibition space that displays humorous and satirical artworks from the 18th century to present day. The museum always has something unexpected and intriguing on exhibit, making it an interesting destination for visitors. Additionally, it's a great place to learn about Sake history.
I came for the Junji Ito Enchantment Exhibition which was essentially a dream come true for fans. Great collection and a clean and modern museum. Staff is also nice. There is almost no text in English, so it does help a lot to read Japanese.

(Translated by Google) I went to see the Tapio Wirkkala exhibition. His worldview, his works spanning a wide range of genres, from folk art to jewelry, spatial art, and a number of wonderful pieces utilizing natural materials, were on display. The clean, compact museum allowed me to fully engage with the artworks and also learn about the artist's human charm. Rather than viewing major exhibitions in large art museums like those in Osaka or Kyoto in a crowded, repetitive manner, I was able to enjoy the true joy of art appreciation by carefully considering each piece in a quiet space. It was a very worthwhile hour and a half. It's great that a city the size of Itami has such an art museum. It's easily accessible from both the Hankyu and JR stations, and the cobblestone streets along the way have a castle-town feel to them. It's also convenient from Osaka Airport, a 15-minute Itami city bus ride from the Honmachi bus stop.

(Translated by Google) I visited to see the Wirkkala exhibition. I had the impression that the museum was about glass artists, but the exhibition also showcased the comprehensive design work that uses a variety of materials, including cutlery, tableware, furniture, and objects, and I was able to really feel the curator's sense. It's just a five-minute walk from JR Itami Station, and Kobe Coop membership cards are available for discounts. The building makes use of a historic structure, making it a wonderful space where you can experience the unique characteristics of the Itami region. The streetscape from the station to the museum has a unified atmosphere with white walls and black roofing, making it a pleasant walk. Hattori Ryokuchi Park, located just a short train ride north of Osaka city, offers a unique blend of traditional rural architecture and modern recreational facilities. The park features an open-air museum showcasing traditional residential architecture, including the iconic gassho-zukuri houses of Shirakawago. Visitors can explore the expansive grounds, which include two barbecue areas, a flower park, and a concert amphitheater.
Its a nice and big park actually. Its free and has lots of amenities and activities to do such as childrens playground, BBQ and camping area, tennis court, museum and a lot more. Its really good for families especially with those who have kids and pets

A wonderland of greenery with adorable route and mild slope up and down, great for the runners for the elevation training. It possesses a massive land of woods with shades covering most of the pathway, as a joy walking in it during the summer heat.
CP T — Google review
I visited this place in the last few days of October. Some trees are beginning to change into autumn leaves. Place is full of locals and not very popular for tourists, mainly because of location but it’s accessible by train (Midosuji line) there are historic houses/buildings and the rest of the park is clean, peaceful and perfect for picnics.
Mohammad S — Google review
This park specially in Autumn gets another vibe with its Colorful leaves and people's togetherness. It has enough space so that people can come enjoy their day long tour with family, friends or even in groups to have picnic, B-B-Q and relaxation. It has also a Museum so if anyone wishes to know about the traditional housing system of different prefecture of Japan can visit as well.

Nice park with a lot of different spots to chill, walk, relax and enjoy a nature break. Amazing colors during the Fall, I specially liked the lights in the Gingko and Bamboo trees. Pay a visit to the open air Farm Museum nearby, really good experience there aswell.

Wide open area of greenery in the middle of Osaka. Lots of people and family in the weekend but you will not find it is packed since the area is so wide. Fun activities can be found here such as street bazaar, gardens, campings, barbeque, children playground, and many more. Very recommended place to have a healing.
Rifqi R — Google review
The Japanese Folk Houses Museum in Hattori Ryokuchi Park is an architectural and cultural museum that relocates and exhibits typical 'minka' houses from the north-east to the south of Japan. Minka refers to the houses of the common people. Most of the houses on display here are farmhouses. Due to the long length of the Japanese archipelago, the climate differs greatly between the southern and northern parts of the country. As a result, the shapes of minka and the construction methods used vary greatly from region to region. In this minka garden, visitors can compare and learn about these regional differences. Minka is not very decorative, but you can feel the Japanese view of nature in the primitive and elegant appearance of the wooden structure.

I do jogging there. It is a good place for that if you circle around it with lot of shade, same if you just want to tbke walk. There is even a small bamboo area. If you go inside the park on evening the central plaza kind of become skater territory. Big playground to kids. So not so many shade if going in the center.

Satsukiyama Zoo is a part of a larger park and offers various facilities including a golf course, Green Center, and Urban Greening Botanical Garden. The zoo houses an assortment of animals such as wallabies, wombats, ponies and guinea pigs that children can pet and feed. Admission to the zoo is free for visitors.
A lovely little zoo with some great australian wildlife including the oldest captive wombat in the world!!! I visited here during the morning and it wasn't too busy but be prepared for it to get a little busier on the weekend. There is disinfectant spray at the entrance to prevent the spread of Corona virus. As of writing they are celebrating the birthday of their oldest wombat and there is a cute display in one of the buildings.
Joshua C — Google review
A small little zoo located just uphill past the shrine. It's free admission, and easy to navigate as the map is just a loop. Paid parking is available, but I walked here instead. A lot of the animals were present and relaxed under the summer heat. It was cute watching the zookeepers tend to the bunnies and chickens! You can also interact with the sheep by purchasing the feeder from the gift shop to feed them. They're also one of the noisiest animals in the zoo. 🐑 Overall, Satsukiyama zoo is great for all ages and families to visit!
E T — Google review
Although it is a bit small, you can see unique animals from Tasmania. It is free, can't ask for more~
Sam S — Google review
Free entrance zoo with some parks nearby. Very good spot to walk around with children in warm weather. The size is not so small but as it is free, it is recommended. You can park your car or using bus to come here. The animals is fun to watch.
Rifqi R — Google review
This zoo is recommended for animal lovers as you can get close up with them and even pet most of them. It's free of charge too! There was heatwave when i went and most animals were indoor. If not we would have gotten to see more animals. I really love this place! Avoid 12pm to 2pm as it is their lunch time.
Iris L — Google review
For a zoo with no entrance fee, Satsukiyama Zoo is a very generous & welcoming zoo to many. There are petting zones and several animals to see. Do note that most of the animals seen here are animals that can also be found in Australia, because of its sister city relationship with the Australian municipality of Launceston, Tasmania. It is also highly understandable that they don't take care of too many animals. Do take note, that travelling to this zoo will require some walking and some light hiking up slopes as the zoo is located around the base of mount Satsuki. It is still fairly accessible as its about 10 minutes or less, from the nearest station.
Benjamin A — Google review
📄 Description of the area: ————————— 🐗 - Satsukiyama Zoo: There are also many facilities within the park such as a zoo, the Urban Greening Botanical Garden, a golf course, and Green Center, and many people gather here for leisure. The Satsukiyama Zoo is especially popular, with wombats and wallabies, and the admission is free. A cherry blossom festival is held on a weekend in early April every year in the park square and the zoo. In the summer, it serves as one of the venues of the Gangara Himatsuri, a festival that dates back to the Edo Period. 💵 - Price: Free. 🕒 - Hours: [9:15 - 16:45]. ————————— 🌳 🦙 🌳 Thanks For Watching 🙂!

The urban Aramaki Rose Park in the Kansai region boasts a remarkable collection of different types of roses that bloom twice a year - both in spring and autumn. The park also features a striking peace monument featuring three red columns. It is a popular destination among visitors, especially during peak blooming periods, which can get crowded on weekends. However, the park itself offers ample space for picnics outside of these periods.
I go to Japan every year to visit my in-laws. We live near here and this is our usual dating spot with my husband. The roses and other plants make the whole place more romantic. I love the location because it looks like a laid back neighborhood and you can see kids playing every now and then which is rare in Japan.

The Itsuo Museum is a charming museum showcasing Japanese art and ceramics, which was founded by Ichizo Kobayashi, the creator of Hankyu Corporation. The museum is located about 10 minutes away from the Hankyu Ikeda station, and it originally opened as an exhibition hall in Ichizo Kobayashi's former residence, which is just a three-minute walk from the current location. The collection includes many significant cultural properties that were acquired and collected by Mr.
Wonderful little museum. Tea demonstrations are available on Sundays during exhibitions. Definitely get there when they open to get a spot though! Exhibition piece descriptions are almost all in Japanese.

This is an art museum that exhibits tea utensils and artworks collected by Ichizo Kobayashi. It seems that the current Ichizo Kobayashi Memorial Hall was originally the Itsuo Museum, but it was moved here in 2009 due to the construction of a new museum. It was a very fast-paced art museum. [Highlights] ① Tea utensils and bowls and ink paintings by Sotatsu Tawaraya ② Artworks dedicated to Mr. Ichizo Kobayashi (Visit and see with your own eyes before purchasing) 【others】 ●15 minutes walk from Hankyu Ikeda Station. ●Please be careful as Google Maps will guide you to the back side (Hankyu Ikeda Station → Turn right at Shoban → Pass the intersection → Turn left at the first T-junction → Up the hill is the correct answer). ●Free underground parking available (22 spaces) ●Fee: 700 yen (500 yen for JAF members) (Original)

With its pavilion gifted by Suzhou City in China, the park exudes a Chinese garden ambiance. It also serves as a resting area for locals and visitors alike.
Japan is very rich in culture tradition and values. Whenever any mishappening occur they just not try to rectify it. One of the highlights of Itami is the Former Okada Residence & Sake Brewery, nestled within the Itami City Museum of Art, History and Culture. This remarkable site dates back to the 17th century and offers a fascinating glimpse into traditional merchant life. Visitors can explore three interconnected buildings: a store established in 1674, a sake brewery built in 1715, and an additional structure from the late Edo period.

In case of emergency, Hankyu Itami is just a short walk away. On the east side, AEON MALL Itami (formerly Diamond City), which houses various stores, is connected by an overpass, and on the west side, Nitori, Tully's Coffee, Kura Sushi, etc. are nearby, making shopping convenient. Osaka Itami Airport is also nearby and there are buses available. There is also a license center, so Hyogo residents can renew their licenses here. There is also a green window and a ticket vending machine. I think JR is definitely more convenient than Hankyu for Itami (Hankyu Station is a short branch line called Itami Line, so you have to transfer at Tsukaguchi). In 2006, a horrific Fukuchiyama Line derailment accident occurred between Tsukaguchi and Amagasaki, in which 106 people died and many others were injured, but I think it will be okay because the safe driving schedule is currently in place (because of the tight curves) There is a prayer shrine). Itami is a city with a lot of history, so there are many castle ruins and other things. I'm from the neighboring town of Kawanishi, so I come here often, and I think it's a very nice area to live in. Arioka Castle Ruins, a significant historical site from Japan's Sengoku period, is located just a short 20-minute journey from Osaka Station. Originally known as Itami Castle, it gained notoriety when Kuroda Kanbei imprisoned the rebellious warlord Araki Murashige here for a year. After being captured by Murashige in 1574, the castle underwent extensive renovations and was renamed Arioka Castle.
(Translated by Google) There is a castle that was destroyed in the 11th year of Tensho (1583) during the Sengoku period. Arioka Castle was a subordinate of Nobunaga Oda and the lord of the castle was Murashige Araki, who followed Nobunaga and accomplished military exploits. However, a rebellion suddenly broke out, and after a year of battle, the castle fell. Why did you rebel? There are various theories and it's not clear, but I'll leave that to Michifumi Isoda😊 Traces of stone walls, earthworks, and moats remain. The remains of a well can also be seen at the castle. It is now a designated cultural property of the country and is well-managed. There is a monument with two poems written inside it. ``I remain in the frost, and I am Yae Mugura, in the scum behind Naniwa.'' I will become like a weed withered by frost, the scum of the Namba sea. This is a song composed by Murashige's wife Tashi. beside it ``As I thought, Fuminari, the bridge of heaven, Naniwa flowers are also a dream''... I've been treading on the bridge to the ideal world, but I never thought that the flowers of Namba would become a fleeting dream...The song Murashige wrote is truly fleeting😢 It is a castle full of history. The castle was the base of Murashige Araki, who was favored by Oda Nobunaga and rose to prominence with the Ikeda and Itami clans and became the shugo of Settsu, but who rebelled against Nobunaga. It was originally the residence of the Itami clan and was called Itami Castle, but after the Itami clan was destroyed by Murashige Araki, it became the castle of Murashige Araki and underwent extensive renovations. The Samurai-cho and Machiya districts were also castles with long territories called sogae, surrounded by moats and earthworks, but they were abandoned shortly after Murashige Araki fled. Due to subsequent development, the castle's appearance has disappeared. A small portion of the main wall and moat remain in front of Itami Station. As you climb up the curve, you will see an information board and the remains of a well. In the back there is a part of the stone wall from that time. The stone wall was made from repurposed stone, making it look like the stone wall that was renovated by Murashige Araki. There is no dedicated parking lot, so you will need to use a nearby paid parking lot. It may be possible to park on the street, but there are a lot of people and cars, so I can't guarantee it. Itami Castle, which had been ruled and built by the Itami clan of Settsu Province for 300 years, was captured by Araki Murashige in 1574, underwent major renovations, and was named Arioka Castle. At that time, Toyotomi Hideyoshi was the commander of the Chugoku region and was in charge of conquering the Chugoku region. This was the period when Mitsuhide Akechi, the commander of the Kinki region, was conquering Kameyama. Hideyoshi was attacking Bessho Nagaharu's Miki Castle. At that time, Murashige Araki also participated in the war as an Oda side, but he joined Nagaharu Bessho and Motonari Mori, the lords of Miki Castle, and returned to Arioka Castle after participating in the war. Oda Nobunaga regarded this act as a rebellion, and was worried that he would be attacked from behind during the attack on Miki Castle, so he sent Mitsuhide and Kuroda Kanbei to persuade him, but they did not respond, and he imprisoned Kuroda Kanbei in a dungeon. A famous story goes that at this time, when he saw the wisteria flowers visible from his dungeon, he found the courage to live. It is said that the Kuroda family's flower crest was made into a wisteria tomoe because of this relationship. A restored wisteria tree shelf is still installed in front of JR Itami Station. The address of Aeon Mall Itami on the east side of Arioka Castle is a wisteria tree in Itami City, which reminds us of the past. For reference, this story is described in detail in the Naoki Prize-winning work ``Black Prison Castle,'' which is set in Arioka Castle. Later, in 1579, Tensho 7, it was destroyed by Nobunaga. Araki Murashige has Arioka Castle as his full defense in order to fight against Oda Nobunaga. Soukou refers to the construction of an enclosure around a castle or castle town with earthworks or stone walls. We are building a huge building measuring 800 meters from east to west and 1.7 kilometers from north to south. Some places still remain today. To the east of the castle is the Inagawa River, a natural fortress. Currently, Itami Airport is located on the east side of the river. Inano Shrine ⛩ is built as a protection on the north side, and earthworks and stone walls remain within the precincts. It is called a shore fort. The defense on the south side was Uzuka Fort. It is currently considered to be on the south side of Arioka Elementary School, but there seem to be no remains of it. As a defense on the west side, there was Fort Onnazuka. Currently, Sumizome-ji Temple of the Soto sect is standing here. Inside the temple, there are the Jorozuka and Murashige's nine-story memorial tower. Nobunaga gathered women and women in his castle and burned them to death, so there is a memorial tower at the castle. One year before the Battle of Arioka Castle, Murashige, the lord of the castle, went to the neighboring Amagasaki Castle to ask for support from the Mori army, but he never returned, and it is said that the vassals who went to take him back also did not return. In the end, it seems that only women remained in Arioka Castle. Nobunaga had Murashige's vassals who were in Amagasaki Castle executed at Amagasaki Nanamatsu. There is a cenotaph at Nanamatsu Hachiman Shrine. Nobushige's wife and the Araki family were beheaded at Rokujo Kawahara in Kyoto. The women and women of other vassals were gathered at Arioka Castle and burned to death. To access Arioka Castle, take the Fukuchiyama Line from Osaka Station and get off at Itami Station, and it is right in front of the station.

Nestled in a quiet alleyway just off the bustling Dotonbori district, Hozenji is an intimate Buddhist temple that offers a serene escape from the surrounding noise and commercial activity. The temple is adorned with lanterns and features a moss-covered statue of Fudomyoo, the deity of protection. Visitors can offer prayers for safe travels before strolling down Hozenji Yokocho, a historic cobbled street lined with izakayas.
I didn’t plan to visit, just happened to walk by after a meal nearby, and I’m so glad I did! There were three adorable cats around, awwww! The shrine itself is super cool. The god statue is covered in grass and moss, he's called "不动明王", and you can pray by pouring water over him. It’s such a peaceful and special spot tucked away inside the busy commercial streets, full of rich Japanese culture. I absolutely loved it!

Very traditional, open, and interesting! Please make sure that you put your offering before you light up the incense and candle. And also the water by the shrine used to be put onto them not for the hands.

Before leaving the area, we stopped by Hōzen-ji Temple, a small but historic Buddhist temple tucked away in the middle of Dotonbori. Dating back to 1637, it’s famous for its moss-covered statue of Fudō Myō-ō, a guardian deity said to grant wishes. Visitors pour water over the statue when they pray, which is why it’s completely coated in green moss. The narrow alley leading to the temple, Hōzenji Yokocho, felt worlds away from the busy streets nearby—quiet, atmospheric, and lined with lanterns. I got a goshuin here too, a nice little memento from such an unexpected hidden gem in the middle of the city.
Jacob S — Google review
Hōzen-ji is a small yet profoundly calming sanctuary—an intimate spiritual corner quietly preserved in the heart of Osaka’s vibrant streets. Despite being surrounded by the energetic pace of Namba and Dōtonbori, the moment you step onto its stone pathway, the world seems to soften. The worn stone tiles, the wooden structures, and the rows of lanterns create a scene that feels timeless, intimate, and gently illuminated. The temple may be compact, but its atmosphere is rich with layers of tradition. Visitors pause before the incense burner, hands clasped, as thin streams of smoke rise softly into the cool air—mingling with the subtle scent of wood and the faint moisture of the day. Whether it’s travelers in kimono, nearby residents, or wandering tourists, everyone naturally slows down here, offering a quiet prayer or simply enjoying a brief moment of reflection. What stands out the most is how time feels a beat slower within these grounds. Outside are tall buildings, cables, and modern city textures; inside, the curved tiled roofs, wooden pillars, and clusters of lanterns preserve an older rhythm—gentle, enduring, and deeply resonant. The charm of Hōzen-ji doesn’t lie in grandeur, but in its ability to create genuine stillness in the center of a bustling city. It’s a place where Osaka’s soul reveals another side: not just lively and dynamic, but also warm, contemplative, and steeped in quiet history. Whether you come for a short pause during your stroll or specifically to offer incense and make a wish, Hōzen-ji welcomes you with sincerity. It is one of Namba’s most memorable hidden sanctuaries—small in size, yet immense in the peacefulness it brings.

A serene shrine tucked away in Dontonbori, though you’d never think it was with how peaceful this place is. It’s not a very big shrine, but it’s certainly gorgeous. In the center of the shrine is a moss-covered statue that guests can splash water on - doing so is said to give good luck.

Quiet and quaint place behind the bustling Dotonbori. The moss statue stands there, in a mystical atmosphere during night time when the lanterns are lit up. Worthy of the detour while you are in Dotonbori

Osaka Tenmangu is a 10th-century Shinto shrine in the bustling port city of Osaka, Japan. It is dedicated to Sugawara Michizane, the deity of learning, and is a popular spot for students seeking success during exam season. The shrine hosts one of Japan's biggest festivals, Tenjin Matsuri, held in July.
When I was there, it seems to have a night event with busy staff working on setting up a few structures. Still, as an important religious center for the locals, it also has the venue for wedding ceremony and other important events. A significant shrine with magnificent history.
CP T — Google review
Osaka Tenmangu Shrine, dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane—the revered deity of learning—offers a rare moment of serenity within the fast-paced rhythm of the city. The moment you pass through its stone torii gate, the noise of the streets begins to fade, replaced by the stillness and gentle gravity unique to ancient shrines. Under the soft, overcast sky captured in your photos, the entrance feels even more solemn, inviting visitors to slow their steps. Inside the grounds, the space opens wide yet remains intimate. Buildings under restoration stand beside beautifully preserved wooden structures, creating a striking contrast between old and new—a reminder of how this shrine has quietly watched over Osaka for centuries. Footsteps on the sandy courtyard sound crisp in the cool air, adding to the meditative atmosphere that naturally draws you inward. The small sub-shrines, wooden gates, and traditional rooftops carry the charm of craftsmanship shaped by time. The purification pavilion and prayer hall feel welcoming, attracting visitors who come to seek blessings, express gratitude, or simply reconnect with themselves amid travel. The omamori you hold—a black charm adorned with gold, pink, and white plum blossoms—beautifully reflects the elegance of Tenmangu. It is more than a souvenir; it is a small piece of the shrine’s protection and warmth, carried back into everyday life. Overall, Osaka Tenmangu is a place where the heart naturally settles. Even with modern buildings rising just beyond its borders, the shrine maintains its own timeless rhythm. Whether you visit to pray for success, enjoy a quiet walk, take photos, or find a moment of peace during your journey, Osaka Tenmangu offers a gentle, enduring sense of calm that lingers long after you leave.

The shrine was gorgeous. A bit of repairing did slightly ruin its image, but not to worry. In summer months it gets very hot and very bright so maybe consider bringing a cap or some sunglasses. I’d also cover your shoulders if possible, knees didn’t seem so much of a problem. The smaller shrine near it is the centrepiece in my opinion though. Great for pictures under the line of Torii gates and also a quiet place to respite from the city life.

I was there on 25 July for the Tenjin Matsuri Festival. I saw the land and boat procession as well as the fireworks. The festival was super packed and overcrowded. The land procession was great. However, the boat procession was a disappointment: about 90% of the boats were tourists boats with people sitting there and drinking. The stalls were nice and the fireworks was good, but nothing really special. Leaving the venue was very difficult, as it was totally overcrowded. Overall, nice one-time experience.

Ikeda Castle Ruins, also known as Ikeda Castle Park or Ikeda Shiroato, is a historical site in a traditional hilltop garden. It was once the stronghold of the powerful Ikeda family during the Muromachi and Sengoku periods in Japan. The castle's reconstructed buildings and viewing tower offer visitors a glimpse into its medieval past. While the ruins may not be extravagant, the free entry allows access to picturesque features such as a koi pond and garden.
The castle's ground is small and consists of a garden (very well-maintained, with a tiny dry landscape garden on its territory), reconstructed yagura and a teahouse. It's possible to buy some feed for the carps which live in the pond. The place is quiet, and the view from the top of the yagura is stunning in all directions. There's not much explanation about the history of this castle in the yagura (just because it's not well-documented in general), but the place still feels great and very peaceful!

This castle ruins looks pretty cool actually. The former castle site of Ikeda clan. It is dotted with a Japanese garden, a teahouse with a tiled roof, a nice pond with koi fishes, and a tower-style observation rest building. Looking out over the city as you can see also the Big Harp bridge and some part as far as Kobe and Wakayama.

Other parts of the museum were less interesting for me - these may be more interesting for families with small children.

According to historical records, Inano Jinja was moved from its original location in Inadera to its current site in 904. During the Warring States period, it became a part of Arioka Castle and housed the 'Kishi no Fort,' which was the northernmost stronghold of the castle. The Konoe family took control over the Itami area in 1661, and they rebuilt the main shrine in 1686.
(Translated by Google) Inano Shrine This was the northern end of Arioka Castle. Chozusha is named after alcohol. It has become something rare. Once you enter, the space suddenly becomes larger. There is a tree and the main shrine in the middle. A refreshing breeze flows. The premises are well managed and clean. The balance of greenery is also very pleasant. Even though it shows its age, it is cool and powerful.

(Translated by Google) It's in my neighborhood and I've been visiting regularly for a long time. This year, I went to visit the shrine on New Year's visit. I hadn't paid attention to it until now, but is it the main shrine? There are also many other shrines around. There is also a place for sumo wrestling. However, it remains deserted forever, as if after a disaster. As you can see from the photo, the main shrine is surrounded by a safety-first fence, the stairs are rickety, and the remains of a torii gate? ? It seems that there is not much management. It is a local shrine and I would like it to be restored and made into a comfortable place. Also, during the Miyamae Festival, there are stalls lined up on the approach to the shrine, but you need to be careful as they are all unscrupulous. The food stalls outside the shrine are all good, but... I wonder why. There is a Kansai Supermarket and Family Mart next door, so they can usually handle "emergencies (lack of supplies, etc.)". If you want to have a hearty meal, just go straight through the station to Aeon Mall♪ Because they can flexibly create stages (and allocate stage/audience seats), the Tenants Theater Company and others regularly use it for their "big annual performance", and it is used by many people.

Museum
東リ インテリア歴史館 is a historical museum located in the original wooden head office building of the company, dating back to its founding in 1919. The building has been meticulously preserved and is now open to the public as an exhibition hall. Visitors can explore the rich history of the company and its evolution over time. The exterior features shrubbery inspired by "Inano Sasahara," adding a touch of natural beauty to the surroundings.

The first photo is taken from outside the fence with the shrubbery in the foreground inspired by "Inano Sasahara." If you have a chance, it's open to the public, so I'd like to visit it. When I went outside, there was a shrubbery that recreated "Inano Sasahara." Just etching? Unfortunately, the explanatory text was no longer legible.
