The Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Bosco e San Michele in Cuneo is a stunning example of Baroque architecture at its finest. From the moment you step inside, you’re surrounded by the intricate detailing so typical of the era – lavish stucco work, sweeping arches, ornate columns, and gilded accents that catch the light in the most enchanting way. Every corner feels like a carefully composed work of art, from the elaborate altars to the delicate ceiling frescoes that draw your eyes upward in awe. It’s an absolute delight to wander through, soaking up the craftsmanship and history that radiate from every surface. A wonderful Cathedral located at the center of Cuneo, worth a visit.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful cathedral. The façade remained closed between new buildings in 1832. The difficulties of connecting it with the nearby buildings and safeguarding the path of the porticoes were overcome in 1863 - 1866 with the project of Antonio Bono, with four large fluted columns supporting the tympanum with the dedication. In the dome Giuseppe Toselli, a painter from Peveragno, in 1834 represented the Assumption of the Virgin and the participation of the patrons of Cuneo: Saint Michael, Saint John the Baptist and the blessed Angelo Carletti. (Original) Bellissima cattedrale.

(Translated by Google) The Church of Santa Maria del Bosco dates back to the Middle Ages. It was then a humble little monk's church nestled in the woods, then became a parish church and collegiate church of canons, and finally, in 1817, the Cathedral of Cuneo. On the outside, the eye is drawn to its immense columns; on the inside, to the ornamentation of its chapels and high altar. The episcopal seat of the Cuneo-Fossano diocese, it has been a national monument since 1940. A beautiful cathedral, it is well worth a visit; the façade was obscured by new buildings in 1832. The Cathedral was a lively parish in the heart of the city, as evidenced by the presence of 14 altars mentioned in the pastoral visit of 1583. On Christmas Eve 1656, the vault of the church collapsed. Reconstruction was carried out according to a design by architect and painter Giovenale Boetto. The last significant project was the creation of the crypt for the burials of the bishops, which took place in 1968. This is a favourite café we like going to whenever we come back here for a visit. It's an old style café at the back with a pastry and sweets shop at the front. It is still a great place to take a break from your day. Don't be surprised if you see a dog quietly snoozing under the table while his owner enjoys his espresso with friends. Dogs are generally allowed in Cafés in Europe.

(Translated by Google) The monumental complex of San Francesco is located in Cuneo and includes the former convent with the cloister and the adjoining former church. It has been classified as a national monument and a rare architectural example of the medieval era in the city. The convent of the Franciscan friars with the pictorial cycles preserved inside the church and the decorative fragments present in the cloister and in the former convent space constitute an important testimony to the most ancient history of the entire city. However, the oldest frescoes were located along the perimeter of the fourteenth-century cloister and were discovered in the 1980s, during the first restoration works on the complex. Partially hidden by a wall is a beautiful painting of Saint Christopher, but the best-known image is certainly the Madonna and Child with Saints Francis and Elizabeth and donors, today displayed in the entrance rooms to the collections. The current cloister dates back to the seventeenth century and features frescoed lunettes with the stories of the saint to whom the church is dedicated. If you visit Cuneo the whole complex is worth seeing.

(Translated by Google) The container is more interesting than the content. The civic museum is housed in the recently renovated 15th-century former church of San Francesco. The late-Gothic structures are beautiful, from the suspended columns to the arches, frescoes, and cartouches. The images evoke the world of courts, particularly those of Saluzzo or the Challant family (Aosta Valley). The museum houses jewelry and objects from a Celtic necropolis, votive offerings, lenci dolls dressed in traditional valley costumes, musical instruments, and documents. The Relax Parco Fluviale Gesso di Cuneo is a beautiful natural area that offers trails for both hiking and biking. These paths run alongside the wooded banks of a stream, providing stunning views of the surrounding mountain ranges. Picnic areas are available for visitors to relax and enjoy the scenery, while an ice cream or frappucino can be savored on a lovely overlook overlooking the valley.
A great place to camp, a clean place even outside, in the large parking lot with lots of shade to protect the car and more! A place to unload the campers and fill up with water, in a word., Great!!!

(Translated by Google) I should point out that we didn't explore the entire river park, and this comment only covers a small portion. We didn't find anything special along the riverbed; you can walk (with a little care). The picnic area (with restrooms, tables/benches, and a drinking fountain) is shaded and reasonably well-maintained (though the drinking fountain was constantly leaking, and the clogged drain caused water to flow onto the dirt road, creating mud). Along the road leading down from the Santuario degli Angeli, there are memorial stones bearing compositions and poems by Gino Giordanengo. We'll definitely return to explore the other areas in more detail.

The route is very short and offers a quick history that reveals some interesting moments of this important historical building in the city of Cuneo. The panorama is also evocative, with the whole city at the foot and the crown of mountains surrounding the landscape. I chose the time of sunset which from this panorama is even more wonderful. The Museum of the Diocese of Cuneo offers a captivating experience for families and travelers alike. Exploring this museum allows visitors to appreciate antiquities and remarkable artworks, which can dispel any initial uncertainty. The exhibits also provide insight into the Napoleonic suppression and the establishment of the diocese through historical paintings. Additionally, witnessing these displays enables one to grasp the severity of the past events.
Very nice historical museum. Don’t miss the little doors to the cathedral, you’ll be able to see the organ on the balcony and the other side of the church. Max is a super host! Highly recommend to visit.
Anton P — Google review
(Translated by Google) The visit, dating back to yesterday, begins in the best way, with a beautiful and warm sun outside, approaching the museum. The good light allows me to take a first clear photo: The one in which the name can be read, in wrought iron, leaning against the perimeter wall. Along with it, you will find the others here, thanks to which I hope you will be able to imagine the greatest amazement that, from time to time, could be aroused in you in person. The museum, spread over four floors of a now historic building, presents an evident well-executed wall renovation as well as a careful choice of materials, the design of the functional elements and their coupling. Even just going up and down the stairs you can perceive the quality I just referred to. The "pieces" are well blended together. Combined with a great welcoming capacity of the employee met at the entrance, they make the visit a moment of peace, as well as cultural enrichment. The items on display present varying degrees of interest and value; thus we go from the magnificence of a chasuble to the unimpressive stature of some painting. Unfortunately the curator decided to display too large a number of finds in relation to the available space, also adding explanatory totems (which were inevitably bulky). This choice has led to multiple accumulations that do not allow full, constant appreciation. Furthermore, the various audio sounds that are heard from one room to another while you are reading some captions disturb. Audio that "flows" from an unusual number of videos projected or transmitted to gigantic monitors. A museum is, by definition, a place that does not require modern contraptions to be understood. If you want to offer the visitor the chance to listen to a story, in support of human guides (whom you might not want to use, or not assiduously), those types of telephones that were used thirty years ago, in today's style, could represent an interesting option. I say this despite having obviously understood the best intent of those who translated the idea of spreading certain knowledge in an innovative way into reality. This museum, despite the not always important level of some finds and the little-studied electronic solutions accompanying the tour (perhaps even avoidable), deserves to be visited. Overall it is interesting and capable of arousing wonder. Have fun! Buon divertimento!

(Translated by Google) If you want to be cheerfully registered, just like in the fascist period, just go to the house museum of an anti-fascist; incredible but true! At least this is how it is in the Casa Museo Galimberti, in Cuneo, from what appears on the municipal website and what was reported to me, upon request, by the guide I met, administered by the Municipality of the Piedmontese capital. Let's go in order. I thought that, first of all, I would be asked to pay a price, albeit a negligible one, while the visit is free. Nonetheless, it gratified the senses very little, furthermore considering the cost of visiting an art venue (unless it is truly disproportionate) as one of the last elements to take into consideration for an overall judgement. The tour begins, in fact, by having to submit to the preset story managed by the guide, whether you want it (generally I don't disdain it, but it's one thing to choose it, it's another to see it, dare I say, imposed on it) or not. In this way it becomes difficult to linger delightfully on the (although small) works kept. The house has hosted three generations, starting from Duccio Galimberti's grandfather, with whose wife he had fourteen children and who had set up his own printing press on the ground floor, moving on to his father, Tancredi (a politician, also at national level, with an intense and commitment to the local population, who was appointed, at the height of his career, Minister of Posts and Telegraphs), of the anti-fascist who is celebrated here, Duccio, a lawyer like his father. Curiously (but as was also potentially presumable) poor Duccio's anti-fascism must have passed for more than what is believed to be the fascist sympathies of his family of origin, and as of these very few if not non-existent are, at first glance, the traces in the museum. Quite substantial, however, are the effigies of those who rowed, not without stains of blood, for a military annexation of a kingdom that no one had attacked and which remained peaceful in its own affairs, such as that of the Two Sicilies. Representations of Garibaldi first and foremost Mazzini, but also Cavour, adorn the spaces of this place, which remains witness to an important family life, particularly for the Cuneo area. The environment is sufficiently dark, in a figurative sense, as one could have imagined a nineteenth-century Piedmontese environment, albeit professional and domestic at the same time: austere, of the phrase, peculiarly capturing the most serious part of the imprinting. At the end of the journey (and here comes the note which pushed me to award only one star), the guide tells me, as if nothing had happened, not that I could have, but that I should have: 1) given my name, surname and number by telephone, 2) respond to an appreciation questionnaire intended for the Municipality, as well as 3) respond to an appreciation questionnaire intended for your cooperative (the Itur). I am shocked and when I try to make her point out the absurdity of the thing, instead of recognizing it, she "increases the dose", adding that it is now common practice almost everywhere (such a claim). It's a shame he didn't tell me precisely where (and at that point starting the discussion from two levels that don't match or even are close together, a question wouldn't have offered me the slightest guarantee of an unequivocal answer), in order to verify (and possibly help other subsequent potential visitors). Despite the attempt to emotionally involve the user by keeping company throughout the entire process (and here lies, evidently, the marketing technique in use, which however contrasts not only with customs, but also with the actual regulations in force at the very moment in which we begin with <<You must…>>), I agreed to respond (and benevolently, even though I was now displeased) to the appreciation questionnaire (spoiled by the presence of the museum guide to its compilation) intended for the Itur cooperative. Obviously not the rest. Reluctantly, but definitely, I do not recommend a visit to the Galimberti House Museum in Cuneo.

Nestled in the heart of Cuneo, St. Ambrose’s Church is a captivating 16th-century gem that invites visitors to step back in time. Originally established in the 13th century, this historic church underwent a complete reconstruction in 1714, showcasing an elegant facade that gracefully opens onto Via Roma. The charming Piazza Partigiani nearby enhances its allure, especially as golden sunsets over the Ligurian Sea create a picturesque backdrop for relaxation and reflection.

I'm sorry but I don't give more than 2 stars because the exhibition "The soul and the face" didn't excite me as it was presented. In fact, at the beginning, upon entering the video of Leonardo telling his life it would have been interesting and nice but the volume was so low that we couldn't hear anything... and there were only 2 of us at that moment. It would have been nice to have a person viewing to perhaps provide some information given that for each room the videos were more than meticulous and detailed but they made everything cold. The cost of 11 euros for adults is 8 for children, I found it excessive..

I happened to see the special opening for public visits advertised, and it piqued my curiosity. It was truly a wonderful experience. The owners, direct descendants of the original family who built the ancient residence, were very helpful and kind, and above all, they gave us the opportunity to take an interesting guided tour. The tour was well-structured and detailed, detailing the history of the villa's construction and its arrival to the present day. So much history and the opportunity to see countless original antique furnishings and objects, carefully preserved over the years. Everything is displayed with great dedication. The interior is very well-maintained and clean down to the smallest detail. The garden and surrounding centuries-old park are also very beautiful and well-maintained. Visiting this on a beautiful, sunny October afternoon was fantastic. I think the place is beautiful to visit in all seasons. I will return when it reopens in the coming years. In fact, it is inspired by a mathematical function developed by Giuseppe Peano from Cuneo (it is no coincidence that the city's scientific high school is named after him). He was a mathematical genius and like all geniuses a little distracted so much so that sometimes he forgot to go to class... but he was the professor! We remember him for mathematics, but his name is also linked to art for the numerous works and exhibitions created by the Peano Foundation. Do you want to discover more while having fun: watch the video made by the guys from Il BelloOo is here.

(Translated by Google) This statue is located near the Inclined Elevator. At first glance it seemed like an object from the future, placed in the wrong place. Instead we must remember that Giuseppe Peano was born in Cuneo in 1858. In 1890 he discovered a curve capable of filling the plane "without holes". The Peano curve shook the mathematical world so much so that Hilbert called curves constructed in a similar way "Monstrous Curves". Mathematically speaking. (Original) Questa statua si trova vicino all'Ascensore Inclinato. Matematicamente parlando.

Giardini Dino Fresia is a charming city garden located near the center of Cuneo, offering plenty of greenery and benches for relaxation. It's a great spot for families as it features a small playground for children. Although there are occasional sightings of mice in the bushes, the overall ambiance is pleasant. Spazio Innov@zione is a small yet inviting exhibition space that offers an immersive multimedia experience. The interactive exhibition allows visitors to engage with the content, making it a worthwhile visit for those who are willing to interact with the displays. While the immersive technology may not be at its peak, the space effectively tells stories through screens and multimedia elements. One exhibit focuses on medieval Cuneo, providing an interesting glimpse into the city's past.

(Translated by Google) Evaluation as a user (and not as a professional in the multimedia sector) and on the occasion of the exhibition for the anniversary of the moon landing: small but welcoming exhibition space designed and used for immersion in a multimedia story (even if the immersive technology is still on another level). Being interactive, the exhibition is great if you want to "play" with it a bit, if you just look and pass by you might be disappointed, but it's a bit your fault. From this perspective and thinking about the latest technological possibilities, perhaps more could be done, but let's remember that entry is free and the space still has great potential. 5 stars are above all talking to us as a user with children in tow.
