Bodies of Water
Lake Kournas is a must-see natural wonder in Crete, as it is the only freshwater lake on the island. Surrounded by massive hills, this serene destination offers boat rentals and rocky beaches for visitors to enjoy. The deep blue water with a slight turquoise tint meets sandy shores, creating a picturesque setting that nature lovers will appreciate. It's also home to unique sea creatures like eels and turtles.
As everyone has said, a fantastic place, pedalos and turtles are a must. 15 euros for an hour. Ignore everything the lonely planet guide says about parking. 3.50 for the day, 75 metres from the lake side. The mountains form a bowl around the lake, so the vistas are stunning. It does contain the heat, so it gets very warm. Take loads of sun cream. Ive already reviewed one of the best Tavernas at the Lake, so check my reviews for the best place to eat. Loads of gift shops on the main drag towards the lake. Decent ice cream and drinks too. Swimming in the lake is so refreshing, take a walk around the lake and set yourself up under the trees for some shade.
Neil M — Google review
Surely worth a visit. Parking is available very close to lake for only €3.00 for a day. Paddle boat for 4 persons costs €15 for 1 hour. We had no luck in seeing turtles, but still enjoyed every minute. Then had some lunch in one of the Tavernas there.
Dorita T — Google review
Lake Kournas is a true gem of Crete! Surrounded by mountains, it enchants with its turquoise water and peaceful atmosphere. It’s a perfect place to relax, swim, or take a ride on a pedal boat. You can also spot turtles swimming in the lake — a wonderful experience, especially for children. Around the lake, there are cozy tavernas serving delicious food with a beautiful view. It’s definitely worth visiting to unwind and enjoy the magic of nature.
Grzegorz G — Google review
Very warm water (August) , it’s pretty! Not the prettiest, but worth a visit if you have a car! We spent about 2 hours there, mostly in the water! If you bring a snorkel you can find small turtles 🥰 we went here and then drove another place to tan and chill!
Maro M — Google review
It's a nice lake to visit but wouldn't go out of my way to go see it if you're far away. We took the train ride there and that was quite nice, big carriage and breezy ride under the shaded seats. We rented a pedalo avg. €5 per person for an hour trying to find some turtles but due to the large amount of boats they were hard to spot or see. I'd say save your money and just have a relaxing time on the lake and go from a nice swim instead. At some parts of the lake the water is very cloudy and also smells like eggs.
NessaBlume21 — Google review
Lake Kournas is a lovely spot and definitely worth a visit. We hired a boat for €15 an hour and went all around the lake - a nice and relaxing experience. The scenery is beautiful, with clear water and mountain views. The swimming, however, wasn’t amazing. I definitely prefer swimming in the sea. Still, a peaceful place to spend an hour or two!
Reza M — Google review
Kournas Lake is a lovely, secluded spot surrounded by beautiful scenery. The area feels peaceful and authentic — a perfect escape from the busier tourist places on the island. There are several excellent local restaurants around the lake, many serving traditional Cretan dishes such as lamb or goat cooked in an especially interesting way. Instead of being roasted horizontally over charcoal, the meat is placed around the fire in a circle — a traditional method known as “antikristo.” The result is tender, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The lake itself is crystal clear, ideal for swimming or relaxing. You can take a small boat trip, try a bit of water-skiing, or simply hire a pedal boat and circle the lake at your own pace — in an hour or two (or three!), depending on how fast you pedal. It’s a truly memorable place to visit, with plenty of small local shops selling traditional products and handmade gifts. I will definitely visit again the next time I’m in Crete. Highly recommended!
Constantinos S — Google review
If you plan it well and can afford tourist prices, this is 100% worth it. We had a lovely hour in a paddle boat, we saw plenty of turtles- and since we arrived early in the morning, there were not many people there yet. Highly recommend to do it this way, get there by 9:30 to beat crowds!

Gorgeous little museum about local craftsmanship, art and culture. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Well worth the small fee.

We loved the spot! A very cool and educational place that puts you back in history so you can better understand the way of living, tradition and culture!

Visited this small folklore museum today (Thu 3rd July). What a fabulous little place for €4 p/p. The lovely lady on the ticket desk gave us lots of information and history of the museum. All the artifacts in thus museum have been donated by the people from Gavalochori. We were given a leaflet that gave us some information on each room in the museum, plus there were boards to read in each room. We probably spent an hour here. There was also a small courtyard where you can sit and a public toilet. This is a very small museum and not big enough for a pushchair/wheelchair. There are steps to climb to the 1st floor and some low doorways.

The Old Venetian Port of Chania is a historic harbor that dates back to the 13th century and was used for trade by the Venetians and Ottomans. The bustling waterfront is filled with fish restaurants offering stunning views of the port and its elegant antique lighthouse. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the harbor, savoring seafood meze or grilled octopus while admiring the picturesque setting.
What a beautiful place to visit. We wound our way through the many alleyways of lovely shops selling everything you could imagine them the Port just appeared in front of you. So much to do and see. We took an hours boat trip, which stopped offshore and you could swim with and feed the fishes. Their is a great choice of bars and restaurants to have food and drinks at. Try the Chicken Gyros, delicious. Some fab photo opportunities, as well as a Maritime Museum. A lovely way 6o spend a day, a must visit.
Susan O — Google review
Really busy Lots of tavernas to choose from. Selling lovely Cretan dishes. Great shops down tiny little streets. Beautiful handmade wares. Stunning scenery in the little streets and across the harbour.. Well worth a day trip. Boat cruises for hire too.
Dawn C — Google review
Well worth a visit. I would suggest trying to get there early morning for breakfast and a walk. Late morning it was absolutely heaving with fierce competition for seats in the harbour restaurants. A walk into the harbour and along the outer harbour wall is a great experience set aside at least an hour to do the walk both ways. A number of places advertised real Greek food, but to be honest, the fare on offer was pretty similar in terms of an "intetnational" menu. The exception to this were a few better quality restaurants just on the edge of the main drag.
Ray B — Google review
There is a quiet magic woven into the gentle moments of everyday life—the kind that settles softly in the heart and reminds us how beautiful the world can be. It lives in the warm glow of morning light spilling across a room, in the peaceful rhythm of ocean waves touching the shore, and in the laughter shared between friends who understand us without explanation. Beauty appears in kindness freely given, in courage quietly carried, and in the hope that rises even after difficult days. Sometimes it can be found in the delicate colors of a sunset, painted across the sky like a promise. Other times, it hides in the silent strength of those who continue forward with grace, no matter the weight they carry. There is beauty in love that grows patiently, in dreams that refuse to fade, and in the gentle resilience of the human spirit. When we slow down long enough to notice these small wonders, life becomes softer, richer, and more meaningful. Every moment holds the possibility of light. Every person carries a story worth hearing. And every day, no matter how ordinary it may seem, offers a new chance to feel gratitude, hope, and quiet joy.
Mike M — Google review
This place is absolute magic. The history of nearly 5000 years of civilization is on fully display here. The old Venetian port area is beautiful, restaurants are fantastic and the people are very friendly. Will definitely visit again!
Gagan A — Google review
Have been there 7 years ago, returned again for good wibes and memories. It's a gemstone of Venetian architecture with a bit of Ottoman influence, some ruination after WWII and flavours of Greek cuisine. Definitely worth a visit and a walk, if you're on the Crete island. Save couple of hours to stroll in the labyrinth of the narrow streets, wonder in the shops, savour some local food! Just enjoy it!
Julia B — Google review
Clear clean water. The lighthouse. Views that one is not tired to make photos enough in any time of day. From land or when you get out with the glass bottom boat. I let here some of my photos. Enjoy..... And go to see by yourself. You will be astonished and happy relaxed all the time you are here.

Chania is an absolute must visit. Beautiful old harbour. Lots of fabulous shops, restaurants, bars. Those around the harbour front are no more expensive than the ones in the maze of streets behind. The streets behind have a great vibe both day and night. Chania is services by a great bus station with buses running into the early morning to outlying areas like Kato Stalis, Agia Marina, Platanias and much further. There is a wonderful fort to visit and the whole area is very safe. I just love it ❤️

Nestled in Chania, the Greek National Football Team Museum stands out as a remarkable tribute to Greece's football legacy. This small yet captivating museum is dedicated exclusively to the national team and its storied history, particularly highlighting their unforgettable Euro 2004 victory. Visitors can explore an impressive array of memorabilia, including jerseys worn by players during pivotal matches and a replica of the coveted European Championship trophy.
Small museum, but packed with history. Signed shirts from incredible football players make it a must-visit for any fan. One of the best experiences we had in Chania. A big thank you to the owner for sharing stories from his amazing journey through the many matches he attended. And a special mention to all the signed Benfica shirts—from every Greek player who played for the club. Truly unforgettable!

Such a great place to visit while in Chania! The entrance is free but there’s so much to see for football fans. They have every national kit possible, the guy talked with us about everything they have and was such a sweetheart. He even charged our phone while there 🫶🏻 I wish we asked for his name. We are very very thankful! He promised they’ll have more souvenirs next year, hopefully we’ll visit again
Adina M — Google review
It was incredibly interesting – as a football fan I was hooked for a long time. And what a wonderful owner! His passion and dedication to his favorite business are simply top notch. He is very open and gladly shows and explains football history, with jerseys from matches and many other unique items. A must-visit for all football fans!

An incredible museum for all, even if you are not Greek, and even if you are not a football fan. The collection of (signed and/or match worn) memorabilia here is truly remarkable. Mr. Flekkas does a superb job at making every visitor feel welcome and also sharing his unique stories and experiences. I highly recommend this museum to all visitors to Crete!

Restaurant
Neoria Fish Tavern- Xilouris is a popular waterfront taverna that attracts both locals and visitors. The restaurant is known for its fresh grilled fish and other seafood dishes, as well as traditional Greek appetizers like taramasalata. The historic location, situated near the Venetian shipyard buildings, adds to the charm of dining here.
One of the best places in Chania if you like to eat fresh fish. It was recommended by local friends and that was a great choice, just make sure you have a reservation as people line up for it. Food is delicious, atmosphere is great, service is excellent and it’s super clean too. Red snapper was great but sea bass was even better. Please make sure you ask for fried Gavros (Fried Anchovy) and Lettuce-Rocket-Figs-Walnuts salad.
Salah Y — Google review
Recommended by our hotel manager and it did not disappoint. The steamed mussels could use more seasoning and the cuttlefish was tasty and presented well. Their wine list offered a nice selection at reasonable prices. Service was polite and efficient but we had to ask for an ice bucket to keep our wine chilled. Overall a good experience.
Gary P — Google review
Excellent seafood and a lovely setting right by the old harbour. We had the octopus and cuttlefish: both tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, along with a traditional dakos that was fresh and delicious. The staff were warm and attentive, and we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary dessert and a glass of Vinsanto to finish. Great atmosphere, fair prices, and a beautiful view of the sea. Highly recommended for an authentic Chania dining experience!
Nestor C — Google review
Just walk round the harbour away from the touristy area and you will find this superb restaurant! The menu is clear if anything is frozen with fresh options too. Calamari was excellent, tender and tasty and the stuffed courgette flowers were perfect! Excellent value and great service. Well worth taking time to walk a little further. Surprised with a gorgeous chocolate cake and raki to finish which was on the house! What's not to like!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding Experience at Neoria Fish Tavern – Xylouris in Chania, Crete If you are in Chania, Neoria Fish Tavern – Xylouris is an absolute must! The fish could not be fresher – every bite tastes like it just came from the sea. The service is equally amazing: warm, welcoming, and truly family-oriented, which makes you feel right at home. We tried several dishes, and each one was unforgettable. The mussels were perfectly prepared, the shrimp was delicious, and the frisb… there are simply no words to describe how incredible it was! To top it all off, the restaurant is right on the harbour, giving you peaceful and beautiful views while you enjoy your meal. An unforgettable dining experience – I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Crete!
Jenny M — Google review
A little walk around the harbour and you’ll come across this gem of a place. The menu is clear and honest about what’s frozen, and there are plenty of fresh dishes to choose from. We tried the calamari which was tender and full of flavour, the fried shrimps were spot on, the tamarasalata was really good and the stuffed courgette flowers were a real highlight. Great value, friendly service, and to top it all off we were treated to chocolate cake and raki on the house. Definitely worth trying this place but keep in mind that is mostly busy and you need a reservation ahead:)

We came to eat here following the fantastic reviews and were not disappointed! The food, service and location is off the scale. We came back again a few days later and they remembered us, what we had ordered and even which wine we had ordered, their attention to detail and knowledge of the food and wine is outstanding. They were also very generous by bringing beautiful chocolate cake and ice cream desserts on the house along with the obligatory raki. Would highly recommend..

Allied War Cemetery Souda Bay is a serene and solemn place that pays tribute to the 1,500 Commonwealth servicemen who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War II, including the Battle of Crete. Situated at Vlites position near Souda port, this beautifully landscaped cemetery hosts annual ceremonies in honor of the war victims. The well-maintained grounds feature crisp yellow-white graves bearing the names of soldiers and offer a poignant view of Souda Bay.
This cemetery is a fitting tribute to all the service men from across the common wealth who gave their lives. Shocking to see row upon row of very young men. We will remember them. The caretakers do an amazing job at keeping it pristine.
M — Google review
I wasn’t going to do this post as wasn’t sure how I felt, our families recommended that we make the trip to Souda Bay allied war cemetery whilst we were in Crete and whilst we felt very somber whilst there, it just makes you feel thankful. It’s incredibly well kept, but there are some 700 headstones with no names which I found difficult. I couldn’t imagine how that must feel for the families. It’s definitely worth a visit just to pay your respects.
Mike P — Google review
Made a point of visiting here (at last) and made a special point to find the grave of Ted d'Auvergne who fell in the invasion of Crete ( his poignant story is worth looking up). Beautifully kept place and a place for contemplation.

We visited the Commonwealth Cemetery from WWII. It was very moving in a quiet, solemn atmosphere. The beautiful grounds were well-manicured in the banks of the Aegean Sea. What a wonderful tribute to the men who gave their lives in the Battle of Crete of May. These brave soldiers were part of the resistance operations against the Nazi troops in Crete, Greece, a small island in the Aegean Sea. Over 1,500 soldiers from Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, and India lost their lives. The Crete Commonwealth has given these soldiers a proper burial and a wonderful tribute to these brave men who list their lives. These men paid the ultimate sacrifice for freedom - their lives. We were glad we visited the Allied WWII Cemetery in Crete in the quietness of just our group of 6 people first thing in the morning before tour buses started arriving. As we were leaving 4 tours were pulling in.

The fortress on the northwest side of the old harbor of Chania was built by the Venetians against enemy threats and possible invasions. Cnstruction started around 1610. There isn't much to see but tou can see the barracks. There is also lookout tower, which you can climb to get a great picture of the harbour or out to sea. The Maritime Museum of Crete, is housed at the entrance of the Fortress.

I enjoyed this place, didn't go into the fortress itself, but i was on top of it for a rest after walking around the area to enjoy the view and the music that was being played down by the pier. it was a majestic and lovely building to visit. Bougatsa Chania is a must-try traditional pastry in the city. It consists of wafer-thin layers of phyllo with either a savory or sweet filling, topped with powdered sugar. Iordanis, the oldest bougatsa shop in Chania, offers a version made with local Mizithra cheese served hot on tin plates. Another hidden gem is Tomadakis, known for its bougatsa made with curd and olive oil.
A truly authentic place to try bougatsa. They still weigh it the traditional way with a balance scale and weights, which adds to the charm. The taste is different from other places we’ve tried — I suspect this is the more authentic version. It’s not sweet by default; you add sugar and cinnamon yourself to taste. Really delicious, with very friendly service. I especially appreciated that the staff wiped down the table thoroughly for each guest. You also get a glass of water right away. Tasty, affordable, and definitely worth a visit!

World famous Bougatsa pastry shop in Chania, Greece. Delicious, fresh Bougatsa only seconds old. I loved everything about this place. Service is swift with plenty of outside seating. Do not miss a visit to this great eatery.
Joseph S — Google review
We had high expectations for this place in August since we hadn't taste bougatsa before. It was fresh and warm but a bit too mild for our taste. We got also frappes and those were tasteful! Service was fast and really kind so it was nice to come on this place before they were closed by that day.
Kirsikka K — Google review
I’m a big fan of bougatsa and first discovered this delicious dessert last year in Heraklion. Out of curiosity, I stopped by this authentic café to try their version. Their bougatsa is made in a truly traditional style, not sweet, and you can add as much sugar or cinnamon as you prefer. The taste is different from what you might expect, but interesting and worth trying if you want to experience the original recipe. The people were friendly, service was quick, and the location is nice, close to the center. Fair price at €3.5. A great stop for anyone who wants to taste authentic Greek bougatsa. 🇬🇷

Another fantastic place for bougatsa – a must-try if you’re visiting Chania! The pastry is beautifully crisp and filled with a creamy, traditional cheese that’s only produced in Chania. It’s served with a sprinkle of sugar and cinnamon, which is lovely – I only wish there were an option to add honey.
A A — Google review
A national landmark, with unpretentious charm. No frills or fancy dining here just pure quality. A must stop for anyone who considers themselves a foodie. All Bougatsa's are certainly not equal.

We had the sweet bougatsa and it was delicious. Can’t fault it! It was very busy and hot in there but we may have hit a lunch time rush.

This beautifully restored house was well worth the visit. I enjoyed learning about the life of Greece’s most fascinating and influential leader. The house is slightly outside of the tourist center of Hania but just a 10 minute cab ride and couple of blocks from the archaeological museum. Cute outdoor cafe with jazz music playing in a peaceful garden.

Such a fascinating museum. I knew very little about this former Greek Prime Minister before but I left with such a strong impression of how important a figure he was in shaping modern Greece. The museum is beautifully set out with lots of explanations in English and Greek throughout. There are many very interesting and relevant items from his life and the bullet ridden car stands out as an example of not only his incredible personal history, but as an extraordinary exhibit. The young woman on the front desk was extremely helpful and the cafe/bar area was a lovely quiet spot to enjoy a glass of wine at the end of our tour.

Great Museum about Eleftherios ,in his house.Walked from the old town around 30 minutes. The museum cost 4 euros each with a download to help navigate the exhibition. With a small cafe in the garden.

Well-preserved house and well-structured exhibition with many interesting historical objects. Each one has a QR code allowing to access a description on the museum app, which is free to download. The information is available in Greek, English, German and French. I think it could be improved to contain more historical context for foreign visitors, nevertheless interesting. Plus there's also a cool space with educational games for kids in the attic.

This is definitely one of my favorite places in Chania. I am surprised how friendly the stuffs are and how well the house the preserved. All the items are well displayed, and with the app, you can scan any WR code and find out the background story behind the item. The garden is so lovely and well designed. First floor is my favorite because the book room and the room with fresco’s are absolutely amazing! The second floor is ok, but I do really like the piano and the balcony. The third floor is for presenting some of his personal belongings and some stuff made and named after him. Overall, I love this place. Highly recommend it!

Located in the mountainous village of Askifou, the Askifou War Museum is a small but fascinating museum that showcases the private collection of George Hatzidakis. Started by Hatzidakis at the age of 14, the museum features an extensive array of weaponry and war memorabilia from World War II, including guns, carbines, revolvers, cannons, and German bombs.
Well well well, this place is a war historians dream!! Great exhibitions, the family are lovely, very knowledgeable and incredibly welcoming!! You won't regret visiting this historical and memorable visit!!

Definitely worth a visit if you’re interested in the two world wars. Many interesting pieces in this private collection. Entrance is 5 euros. The owner and son of the founder, Andreas, speaks limited English but shows you around and helps you explore the museum. Consider going for a nice Greek coffee and goat milk based ice cream at the Visalo ceramics and cafe nearby afterwards. Lovely place and very friendly staff.

Noteworthy little museum if you’re interested in the history of Crete during WWII. It’s completely family run and has many artefacts from those terrible days…. 😢 The family itself guides you through the exhibition if you want and answers all your questions. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Probably one of the most interesting and valuable WWII displays I've ever seen... I cannot understand why the Greek Government don't support the museum... the treasures within are well kept originals and worth the journey alone... outside many are of course exposed to the weather, but you still get a 'feel' for how real and gritty it must have been for troops on all sides... well worth a visit and a great taverna up on the hill! The personal tour in Greekgermenlish was amazing... somehow we understood most of what we was being explained... even after a few shots of free Raki!

Great little museum very much worth the mountain road drive. If you want to get familiar with a little history of crete during the second world war then you should definetly pay a visit to this family museum. The entrance fee is 5 euros.

Askifou War museum was really interesting. I highly recommend a stop. Their collection of World War 11 memorabilia is very good. Guns, mortars, equipment of all types used during the German assault on Crete. One gets the sense that the Cretans fought against the evil Hilter machine valiantly but were out gunned with impossible odds. The owner is very knowledgeable and will explain exhibits. The gift shop at the end has local Cretan products. 5 Euro entrance fee.

The Museum of Typography in Tsikalaria, Greece, is a fascinating destination for typography and printing enthusiasts. Located in the Industry Park and Art Village, this museum showcases an impressive collection of printing presses, machines, tools, and objects related to typography. The exhibits span from the Middle Ages to the 20th century, offering a comprehensive look at the history of printing. Visitors can explore various typography styles through woodcuts and journalistic articles on display.
It’s a hidden gem of Cretan history. It might be on your way to Chania or Rethymno (depending on where you stay) but it’s definitely worth a visit. Tickets: 5€/person Time: ~45 mins Showrooms: 4 It covers a great deal of techniques and has printing presses ranging from Gutenberg’s press (replica) through 18-19 century presses to late 20 century Macintosh build. You’ll learn how first printing presses were setup with letters (one by one) with different sizes of letters and spaces. Then how in the next step of presses evolution they used automatic letter arrangement based on the key pressed before the letters were placed in the printing machine. Then after that they will show you a machine that used coded strip (like first computers - tapes with holes where each hole represents a letter or character) which was, after it was coded on one machine, placed in the printing machine which reads the code and puts the corresponding letters in place for printing on the paper. Etc etc :)
Ivan D — Google review
We discovered the museum when zooming in on Google maps and made a last minute decision to go visit which unfortunately meant we arrived 45mins before closing. Staff were welcoming and our ticket included a tour which included an opportunity to use some of the printing devices. The museum has some great installations as well as their core collection with lots of explanation from staff. Sadly there was no opportunity to wander and look at items ourselves but the collection is impressive. Well worth a visit but make sure to give yourself enough time.

My motto, “always stay open for new things to come into your life,” proved right again. This private museum turned out to be a real highlight of our day. It’s run by the same family who publish the local Chania newspaper — passion and expertise wrapped into one. Over the years, they’ve collected authentic printing presses and related machines, creating a living showcase of how the industry evolved. You see everything from stamp-making tools and stone- or skin-printing slabs, to engraving equipment and even the telefax — the ancestor of the fax machine. It’s fascinating to follow the timeline through real, tangible objects. Our guide was Penny, who also manages social media for both the newspaper and the museum. She’s knowledgeable, kind, and professional, but also warm and engaging — the perfect combination. The tour itself is structured and informative, with just the right balance of detail and storytelling. There’s also a charming little museum shop with stamps, books, pencils, and posters (yes, of course we bought one as a souvenir). We even noticed a small café corner, adding to the welcoming feel. Practical notes: tickets are only €5, which is a bargain. Tours run every hour, and you can’t free-roam — but the guided format actually adds value. The last tour starts at 13:30 since they need time to close up by 15:00. If you’re in Chania and curious about history beyond the usual, this place is a gem. Highly recommend.

Very special place, highly recommend to visit! Professional and very empathic guide in Greek and English, Mrs Helena - thank You! A hidden gem of a museum. I was welcomed and quickly added to an ongoing tour, as you can only visit with a guide, which provided some context around the museum and some of the exhibits. It is a vast private collection of the history of typesetting snd print, owned and run by a local newspaper owner and his wife. I was amazed by the many machines and documents they have managed to collect, many items gifted to the museum. Features a replica Guttenberg press, and a whole host of other printing machines and typesetting devices going up until the late 90s, when computers and digital printing took over. Also features a small collection of photographic devices, which included a camera my parents owned when I grew up, conjuring up many memories. If you are into art & design, don‘t miss this!

Ancient Lappa is a historical site that offers a unique experience for visitors. Accessible by a short hike from the main road, it features ruins and the Chapel of the 5 Virgins, with uneven paths that make wearing sneakers advisable. The area is filled with carved tombs and a small church, providing an opportunity to explore intriguing historical remnants. Additionally, there's a myth surrounding the chapel related to Roman persecution of believers.
It's a really cool place where you can see ancient graves that were carved inside the rocks. It's for free so no waiting time to be expected. Parking is limited, though and there is a bit of a walk to the actual cemetery. It's doable in Birkenstocks but I'd recommend closed shoes.
Sabine S — Google review
Took a drive to the mountains mainly to see Argiroupolis and dropped here. Parking is a bit of a problem however it doesn't seem like many people come here. In Fact we only saw 4 people the time we were here. I wouldn't drive here just to see this, but it is worth a visit if you are in the area. From the church to the catacombs it's a place with real history.
Jonny L — Google review
Nice place for a stroll. At the bottom of the valley you can hide from the warmth. You can find necropolis near the old church. Along the way at the huge, old plane tree you can find a table and a bench to have some rest. You cannot ride here with a baby stroller unfortunately as the rode is rocky.
Helena K — Google review
If you are visiting Argiroupoli, this place is a must visit! It's free to visit and a very nice walk. The ancient Roman tombs are very interesting, but unfortunately there is no information provided at the location. If you want to read about this site there's information available on the main village square on one of the buildings. There's some historical information about the place and some excavations insight (what was found etc.). Make sure you have time to walk further down the gorge path after the tombs, it's very beautiful!
Vera K — Google review
Small church building and stone craved tombs. Accessed by a badly maintained road which you need to walk down . Not really worth a visit
Dawn S — Google review
A site worth visiting, the classical ancient past meets with the Christian medieval one in a wonderful creek, full of sycamores and cave like graves. The visitor has to advise his map quite often, whereas the road signs are poor or damaged. One can find an ottoman spring in the centre of the graveyard. The nearby village of Argyroupoli shall be visited too, because it was the ancient city that this graveyard belonged. Ancient mosaics can be easily found there.

The Byzantine/Post-Byzantine Collection of Chania, housed in the 15th-century San Salvatore church, offers an intimate look at the region's history through a diverse array of artifacts. From mosaics and wall paintings to statues, coins, and religious items, the museum provides insight into the Byzantine, post-Byzantine, and Venetian eras. Visitors can explore relics from early Christian churches and gain understanding of Cretan civilization after Roman colonization.
Small but very interesting to explore and learn about the intricacies of the Cretan history of the museum. The opportunity to see monuments from the Byzantine era, the Venetian state and later is very appealing to the imagination.

Almirida beach, located just 1 km from Kalives towards Chania, offers a serene and less crowded environment compared to other nearby beaches. The sandy shore gently slopes into the sea, making it ideal for various activities such as beach rackets and leisurely swims. With a selection of restaurants along the boulevard, visitors can enjoy dining with a view of the beautiful harbor. Additionally, the beach provides sunbeds and parasols for rent with convenient service directly on the sand.
Great beach, part of it is labeled as blue flag beach(the part of it towards the little Harbour). The water is cristal clear and shallow making it ideal for families and children. The beach sand is also very fine grained, ideal for castles. On the beach one can find a lot of sunbeds, with prices at around 5-6€/sunbed. There are also a lot of free sport, under the trees, which also provide a lot of shade until around 14 o'clock. There are also a couple of showers and a free public toilet. Wheelchiar accessible parking and entrance are also available. The view is spectacular.

The worst beach I have seen in Crete so far. It is nothing special, the beach is small, the water is a bit dirty and if you are looking for something quiet this is definitely not the spot (as it is crowded with families and kids. Various water sports options from snorkeling, paddle boarding, kite surfing, canoeing and scuba diving for experienced divers. Boats are also available for hire.

This is a wide and long beach located in a bay. It is slightly sheltered from the elements and offers an easy way of entering the sea (sand, no rocks, no sea urchins, less waves). Recommend for an easy, chilled day as there are cafes & restaurants within a few seconds’ walk. The sea here is not deep at all, you can swim about 50-80 metres out and still be able to touch the ground. There is a lifeguard here daily during the summer - be careful with the sea current (if you’re swimming further towards the little islet).

This beach it is amazing. We’ve been moving around the island and changing hotels, and we ended here as we got a hotel we liked. What a Lovely surprise. The beach is all sand. There are many restaurants with beach service. The chairs at the beach are 5eur. So 2 chairs +umbrella it costs EUR10. The water is warm and super calm, it feels Like a big lagoon. Casa Delfino Hotel & Spa is a luxurious boutique hotel located in the charming lanes behind Chania's harbor. The former home of Genovese merchant Giovanni Delfino has been stylishly renovated, offering elegant rooms, apartments, and suites with a blend of antique detailing and modern touches. Guests can enjoy breakfast in the pretty black and white pebbled courtyard or on the seasonal Roof Garden with views of Old Town.
Beautiful rooms and location. The hotel is slightly uphill on a pedestrian-only walkway, but we were met with a golf cart who took our baggage and brought us to the hotel. We were warmly welcomed by the manager upon arrival. The provided a detailed map of the area and their restaurant recommendations. The daily breakfast is delicious! The hotel is situated in quieter streets of Chania, a perfect location for rest but also centered within many cute shops! The city is very walkable so we never needed transportation except for to/from the beach.
Anna K — Google review
Our stay at Casa Delfino was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. The hotel itself is a beautifully restored 17th-century Venetian mansion tucked away in the heart of Chania’s Old Town — peaceful, elegant, and full of charm. It’s only a short stroll from the waterfront and the many lovely restaurants and cafés that make Chania such a quaint and enchanting town. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. Margarita, the owner, was super lovely and incredibly informative — she took the time to share local recommendations and made us feel truly welcome. It was such a thoughtful touch to be collected from the nearby car park and brought to the hotel in a little golf buggy, which made arrival smooth and stress-free. Our room was beautifully presented and very comfortable, with all the small details that make a stay feel special. Breakfast in the tranquil courtyard was a highlight — fresh local produce, homemade pastries, and excellent coffee. We also enjoyed the spa, where Maya gave a deeply therapeutic massage in the hammam — one of the best we’ve had anywhere. The rooftop terrace is another gem: the views over the harbour and the rooftops of Chania are simply stunning, especially at sunset. Every part of the hotel feels cared for, from the decor to the warm, personal service. Casa Delfino is a true oasis in one of Crete’s loveliest towns. We left feeling relaxed, restored, and already planning to return.

We loved our stay at Casa Delfino. Such a beautiful property in Chania old town a stones throw from everything. The service of the staff was exemplary and we were treated like royalty. The breakfast buffet was yummy and the room was very comfortable as was the bed. The location was perfect! We even met the owner Margarite in our last day and she bent over backwards to give us recommendations for our onward journey. One of best hotels we’ve ever stayed in, authentically Cretan. Highly recommend!

Casa Delfino was such a pleasant stay for my family and I. It’s a quaint and Tuscan style boutique hotel that feels tailored to each individual guest. The free breakfast is made fresh every morning, and there’s lots of variety to choose from. The owner, Margarita, is a 6th generation descendant of the Delfino family, which makes the story of this hotel even more charming. 10/10 would highly recommend!

We made a last-minute change to spend six days in Chania and were fortunate to secure a one-night stay at Casa Delfino. Though brief, it was unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, Margarita Markantonaki and her wonderful staff made us feel like cherished guests. The accommodations were beautiful, the service seamless, and every detail from a warm welcome to delicious food exceeded expectations. A highlight was touring the rooftop deck with Margarita, who shared her family’s rich history and the deep love she carries for this extraordinary property. Her passion for preserving Casa Delfino’s legacy is inspiring. What truly stood out were the extra touches: arranging a private ride to Samaria Gorge even after our checkout, transferring our luggage directly to our next hotel room, and securing last-minute dinner reservations. These gestures turned a single night into a lasting memory. We cannot wait to return and stay longer at this remarkable hotel. Highly recommended!

The hotel was super clean with a great breakfast. We felt the lower tier room we got was a bit overstated online, bathroom shower was super small and the room space was not represented by the pics online. Staff was very nice at all times, but we did have to wait for an iron and had someone try to provide us a last-night candy without knocking. Roof view was very nice, bar is not always available.

What a lovely, unique hotel! My husband and I came to Crete for my 30th birthday and spent several days at Casa Delfino. We had a wonderful experience—the hotel is storied and beautifully maintained, the staff were kind and attentive, and the location was exactly what we wanted—in the heart of Old Town Chania, but on a very quiet and quaint street. We stayed in Room 9, which we learned belonged to Captain Delfino several generations prior. The complimentary breakfast was delicious, and the room was beautifully decorated and in line with the history of the hotel. If we ever return to Chania, we will most certainly stay at Casa Delfino again!

Rooms were much smaller than depicted online. Our shower was so small it was tough to turn around in without knocking an elbow - and impossible for ladies to shave their legs with the water running. No view from the rooms. Very little space to walk with our bags and the bed. The signature photo of the archway is a cafe courtyard area (to me it looked like a driveway! And much larger than it actually is). You cannot drive to this hotel (they do offer a golf cart to take you to your car). Breakfast was very nice. Room service entered the room without knocking. Lots of stairs - we were on the third floor - no elevator.

This charming hotel boasts an inviting outdoor swimming pool, lush gardens, and a serene terrace perfect for relaxation. Guests can enjoy complimentary WiFi throughout the property and take advantage of convenient services like room service and concierge assistance.
We had a fantastic stay at Epavli Hotel. The room was great with lots of space and lovely furnished. Equipment in the room are great, coffee machine, smart TV, fridge with water refilled every day. Outside is also nice, you have a swimming pool with sunbeds and a nice patio where you can have some rest. Breakfast was super good. Our host was really friendly and helpful, thank you. This hotel is located 10 to 15 min of the old city center by walking. There is free parking places close to the hotel if you get there by car. I definitely recommend staying at Epavli Hotel if you are looking for a lovely hotel with swimming pool not far away from the old city center.

Super nice place, clean and in a good location. 10 mins walk from the coast, next to some free parking streets, as pregnant women, I can easily go back to hotel and take some rest when the weather is too hot or bad etc. They have a pool and it’s clean and good temperature. The staffs are very friendly, they provide good selection of food for breakfast, and the room always being cleaned nicely. Very good job. Sometimes there is a friendly cat Lily wondering around in the hotel area, which was a joy to us. We enjoyed our 7 days stay here, and look forward to come back with our baby in future.

We loved our recent stay in Chania at the Epvali Hotel. The host was welcoming and attentive. The breakfast was amazing and it was nice to be able to choose what you wanted each day. The location was great, with a short walk to old town/harbour area and there was street parking available nearby (right out front). The rooms were quiet and private which was unexpected given the central location. Would highly recommend choosing here for your next stay in Chania!

Very friendly staff, nice pool, garden and breakfast. We were glad to be staying outside of the old town, but it is a 15 minute walk, probably in the heat. Would recommend and stay here again. Thanks for the avocados!

Unfortunately, my flight was canceled just a few hours after I made my reservation. I called to reschedule the date, but they had no availability. So I requested a partial refund to cover the cost of the night I would miss. They refused to issue any refund, even though they still had time to re-rent the accommodation. Furthermore, the staff was not very courteous on the phone

The Venetian stone wells in Gavalochori, Crete are a fascinating historical site dating back to the 11th century. Nestled under ancient plane trees and reached by a scenic 1 km walk from the village, these igloo-shaped wells offer a glimpse into Greek history. The nearby folklore museum showcases pottery found at the site, adding to its allure. Visitors can also explore an adjacent Roman well with open tops that reveal underground water sources, explaining the region's relative greenery.
Great place with a long history, very easy to find.
Małgorzata K — Google review
It's good for a quick stop if you happen to be driving by. The Wells themselves are a wonder. They are deep so, careful with children. The trail to explore further is blocked off.
Katherine D — Google review
The venetian Wells of Gavalochori. With a couple benches, a lined path and a proper plaque with info would be much more pleasant experience. I loved seeing the historic place but the local community should spruce it up a little.
Moshe C — Google review
We were visiting the village of Gavalochori and the guide book noted these Venetian Wells. Its a little walk from the village, but you could stop by if you were driving. There are supposed to be 24, but the first few wells have been covered with concrete caps, but there are still quite a few to see. It was here at these wells that the villagers met to water their animals, and share local news. Women did their washing here, building fires to heat the water. Be careful if you are visiting with children as the wells are open and deep. There a few benches to sit on, if you can get to them as its a bit overgrown, but a shady spot nonetheless. There is a creek running alongside the wells, and a Venetian bridge spanning. It would not be wheelchair friendly. There are no toilet facilities.

Obviously there is a lot of history connected to this place but there's no information anywhere to be found

Kera Beach is conveniently located between Kalives and Almyrida, offering a peaceful and picturesque setting with stunning views. Situated on the main road, it provides easy access to various amenities in nearby towns. This sandy beach is perfect for those seeking a more natural and unorganized atmosphere without sunbeds or restaurants. Shielded from strong winds, Kera Beach boasts a hidden spot ideal for swimming.
Lovely naturist beach. A little difficult to find and get to but definitely worth the while and the 15min walk. Even more beautiful than on the pictures. Secret pearl. Sandy and shallow, windy when we were there but still OK for our children. Parking is non existing. Just a small spot for two cars practically on the road
Helle N — Google review
It’s was definitely quite place! But it’s was really hard to access to beach! The way was thought the bushes ( currently / it will might be different in June/July ! Most sad part of the beach is the Rubbish !! It’s full of rubbish along sind the beach !!!
Ramesh T — Google review
It is probably ok to visit by boat when sea is calm, but on foot it is not a very good idea - first you need to walk along a major road with bad visibility and no sidewalk, then along the path which is almost fully overgrown with 2 meter tall thorny blackberry bushes. It was cold when we hiked there, and even with thicker clothes I managed to get a couple of scratches. I wouldn’t dare to do this is summer clothes. Besides the thorns, there are sinkholes on the path, making the hike not only very unpleasant, but also dangerous. The beach itself is unremarkable - just a narrow stretch of pebbles and with lots of trash. Go somewhere else.
Julia K — Google review
It is nice and quiet and easy enough to get to, there is parking available but... Not entirely naturist. I went in hope to enjoy textile free and I was the only one. Initially I went right and waded over to the rocks to get away from everyone. Second time I went left to the end and enjoyed nature. Them the odd girl turned up and seemed horrified. Made we wonder if this really is naturist at all.
Astro P — Google review
Excellent hidden away spot to swim. Go way to the right (facing the ocean) to avoid the rocky beach and ocean entry. At low tide there is a small beach area that is sandy. Can get some nice wave action at times.
Bryan M — Google review
Stoney little cove. Nice little trek if you get bored of lying on a sun lounger doing nothing! 20 minute walk there, and spent an hour here. We swam out and to the white rock and did some jumping in. Built some stone towers, mooched about. Just generally made some memories. As exciting as you make it really. No sunbeds, as my 7 year exclaimed when we walked onto the pebbles from the small path way.
Lee A — Google review
Very interesting place. There are many small stones here. The beach is small but not ordinary.

At first, I was apprehensive of this lagoon but once I stumbled upon this diamond amongst dirt I was absolutely amazed beyond belief. I have never been more satisfied since it was announced the mcrib was making its return. What a picturesque place. It is ideal for a cheeky morning walk sun shining above your head and shoals of fish swimming below your feet. Tip: don't bring your ungrateful children as they certainly cannot comprehend the true beauty of mother earth which lies before their eyes

A nice, lightly organized beach with a few sunbeds and plenty of room for others who don’t want to rent. The sunbeds had no charge but required a minimum purchase of 4 euros per person from the cafe. Nice water, and the river nearby is very cold and adds a nice refreshing element.

Beach is wonderful. Nice cool clear water plenty of room. Watch out when trying to drive to the beach there is only one very narrow road and alot of angry people trying to get by. But if you aren't scared to park a little way down and walk it's an excellent choice

(Translated by Google) First of all, it's a constantly windy area. However, being a beach used mostly by locals, it was wonderfully tranquil. The river just ahead offers a wonderful experience. When you're feeling overwhelmed by the heat of the sun and sand, a dip in the icy river water is wonderfully refreshing. The prices at the beach were also quite reasonable. I think it's a great location for anyone looking for a laid-back experience. This was a gorgeous place to visit. We had a friendly welcome and enjoyed walking around the beautiful site. So much work has gone into creating this place and it’s definitely worth a visit to see it. Stunning views and interesting things to see. Plenty of parking. We were given complimentary bottles of water on arrival. After having a relaxed wander around we bought some drinks to enjoy whilst we sat in the bar and enjoyed the setting. Everything was clean and well kept. We all enjoyed our visit (2 adults, a teenager and child), it was definitely worth the small entrance fee. We will return again when we’re next in Crete.

Kalyvaki Beach is a hidden gem that offers an idyllic escape for those seeking tranquility away from the bustling crowds. Located just 13 kilometers from Gavalochori, this beach boasts soft sands and crystal-clear waters, making it perfect for a relaxing day in the sun. The unique feature of Kalyvaki is its cool water, which comes from a nearby river, providing a refreshing contrast on hot summer days.
A Hidden Gem in Georgioupolis Tucked away near the beach of Georgioupolis lies a charming little cove — a peaceful haven that remains calm even on windy days, thanks to its natural shelter. A lifeguard is on duty, ensuring a safe experience for all visitors. The water is exceptionally shallow, crystal clear, and perfect for children to play safely in the sand and splash around. On the left side of the beach, a river flows into the sea, creating a truly unique phenomenon: the surface water is icy cold, while just beneath it, it becomes warm — an unforgettable and almost surreal sensation. The beach is sandy and clean, with sunbeds available for a small fee depending on the area. If you prefer bringing your own umbrella or chair, there’s plenty of free space without any charge. Two cozy seaside tavernas offer everything from coffee, fresh juices, and bottled water to delicious local meze and traditional dishes, all at very reasonable prices. For the adventurous, a swim in the river or a dip where it meets the sea is highly recommended. Walking along the river’s mouth reveals crystal-clear waters and hidden springs that bubble up from the mountain and earth — a rare and magical experience in nature.

Nice soft sandy beach with a couple of canteens. The water is colder than normal because of a fresh water river feeding into the bay at the west end of the beach. They have a lifeguard and one shower but no changing rooms.

The nicest thing about this place is that kids could play so nice in the sand and in the water. We found sun-beds with umbrellas for8-10 euro . No waves. Waters is colder than other beaches because of the river from the mountain that is flowing in the sea. Was worth visiting. In the nearby you can find nice tavernas, authentic Greek with nice sea food .
Loredana E — Google review
Excellent sandy beach. Sunbeds are 10 euro per set. There are springs on the left and a river to right which makes the surface cold while the ocean water on the bottom is warm, a very interesting experience.
Hristijan P — Google review
Nice and beautiful beach to swim. You might need to bring your own umbrella and chairs if you want to stay longer in the sand. The surface of the beach is quite colder than the bottom because of the flow of spring water from the river nearby. Otherwise the sea is sooo clear, beautiful.
Thuy D — Google review
Beautiful beach, as everyone said, the fresh water is mixing and the sea is colder, but it is worth it because it creates a type of cold water on the top and warmer water on the bottom and this „blur” when both mixes.
Piotr J — Google review
Stunning place! The river water is really cold though! Even when it mixes with the sea water you will still feel the cold layer on top
Tamira — Google review
Kalyvaki Beach - Beautiful, Refreshing, and Uniquely Surprising! I visited Kalyvaki Beach at the beginning of August, and it quickly became one of my favorite spots in Crete. The setting is gorgeous - clear blue water, soft sand, and a relaxed atmosphere perfect for swimming and unwinding. What really stood out, though, was the unique water temperature. Even though every day was sunny and hot, the surface water felt ice-cold and incredibly refreshing - but just a bit deeper, near the bottom, it was surprisingly warm. I don’t know if it’s like this all the time, but it made swimming here an unusual and memorable experience - especially on a hot summer day! The beach is organized with some sunbeds and umbrellas, but there’s also space if you prefer to bring your own towel. Parking is usually available nearby, and the beach is within walking distance from Georgioupolis, where you’ll find cafes, tavernas, and shops. If you enjoy a refreshing dip and a little twist on the usual beach day, Kalyvaki is absolutely worth a visit!

With its inviting atmosphere, this hotel features two outdoor pools, including a dedicated kids' pool, and an indoor mini-spa complete with a Jacuzzi and sauna for relaxation. The family-friendly amenities include play areas designed for children, ensuring they have plenty of entertainment options during their stay.
I recently stayed at this hotel with my family and had a very positive experience. The cleanliness was excellent — everything from the rooms to the shared areas was spotless and well looked after. I’d give it a solid 4.5 out of 5, as there’s always a little room for improvement, but overall it was truly impressive. The hotel staff were helpful and welcoming throughout our stay. Everyone we interacted with was professional, kind, and ready to assist whenever needed. Their friendliness made a big difference and helped us feel at home. Again, a strong 4.5 out of 5. One of the highlights for us was how child-friendly the hotel is. There were plenty of activities and spaces designed for kids, and the staff were very accommodating to families with young children. It’s definitely a great choice for families. The food was decent — I’d rate it around 3 out of 5. While breakfast had a nice selection and the ingredients were fresh, the overall variety and taste of meals could be improved. All in all, a great hotel for families looking for comfort, cleanliness, and friendly service, even if the food didn’t quite match our taste.

The Kalyves Beach Hotel is an absolute gem in Crete! The location is simply unbeatable, right on the beautiful sandy beach and just a short walk to the charming village. Our room was spotless and comfortable, and we loved the stunning sea view from our balcony. What truly made our stay special, however, was the staff. From the friendly and hardworking team at the pool bar to the helpful receptionists, everyone was so welcoming and genuinely dedicated to making our vacation perfect, and a special shout-out to Rep Momo, who was wonderful. With the lovely pools and delicious buffet, we had everything we needed for a truly relaxing and memorable holiday. We can't wait to go back!

The hotel is literally on the beach, which made our stay even more special. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with a wonderful view of the sea. The staff was kind and helpful in our every need, especially Kostas the lifeguard. The breakfast and dinner and the launch had variety and quality food.access to the beach was direct. Ideal place for rest and relaxation. We will definitely come back next August!!!

I came here for one day on a charged for day pass costing 32 euros. I caught the bus from Chania. What a TREAT! I was allowed to use the indoor and outdoor pools beteen 10 am until 6 pm. I arrived around 12 noon, just in time for lunch "EAT AND DRINK AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE" FROM AN EXTENSIVE AND EXOTIC BUFFET. I chose the outdoor dining area overlooking a river with ducks that runs into the sea I am a pescetarian, but mainly vegetarian. The food was HEAVENLY and the variety amazing. I had 2 huge platefuls of savoury food and lots of delicious CRETAN WINE. I then enjoyed a variety of desserts and fresh fruit followed by a coffee by the outdoor pool area. Later, I relaxed on one of their many lovely sofas to phone home for necessary news.A little more time to relax on the sunbeds and I was ready to leave, a very contented woman. The staff here are extremely courteous and the hotel is spotlessly clean and tidy. I have been left with a very good impression of this hotel and certainly would like to return at some point. Guests need to check with the hotel if day passes are available. I took a chance because I wanted to visit Kalyves and it was late September. There are lots of lovely beaches and places to visit in the Chania region. I am thrilled to have spent a day here. Sherrill Watts.

Beautiful hotel situated in a lovely little village by the sea , only fault was main shopping strip is half hour away in a taxi. Not much to do round the hotel but can see this changing in the next 10 year or so. Hotel and all staff involved with the hotel are brilliant!

Omprogialos Beach, located near Kokkino Chorio in Crete, is a hidden gem known for its stunning deep blue and green waters. This free and public beach is perfect for snorkeling and offers a peaceful escape from the crowds. Just a short 16-minute drive from Kokkino Chorio, it's easily accessible for visitors. The small rocky beach provides an excellent spot for swimming straight off the jetty into the clear turquoise sea.
One of the best beach/swimming spots in Crete and I’ve been a lot of places there. The water is beyond pretty, it’s somewhat a rough drive (but on a proper road) I recommend bringing snorkeling gear! Again, it’s such a beautiful spot, and not too many people, very secluded and private, only thing is I did not find a shower , maybe there is one, but u didn’t find it, I’m sassy when it comes to washing of salt water! 9.5/10

This beach is a natural treasure with crystal-clear waters, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. There are no showers or facilities on the beach itself, but there’s a small tavern uphill if you need a break. Please respect its beauty: don’t throw cigarette ashes in the sea, don’t leave plastic or trash behind, and avoid any behavior that harms the environment. Whether local or visitor, we all share the responsibility to keep this place clean and unspoiled for the future.

This beach is exceptional! The platform is perfect for putting chairs that you brought from home, the water is crystal clear and turquoise blue! Perfect for snorkeling, there are a lot of fish everywhere! The view is amazing, you can see all the bay. It deserves a solid 5/5 rating! I highly recommend this beach!

Actually, we were just by the sea, enjoying beautiful place with a bit of diving. The sea was perfect, better to have swimming shoes, can be wild sometimes. There are many places crafted and decirated by a local artist, which makes this place more charming. The road down to this place requires some driving skills :)
Kristian O — Google review
Great -but very small - local “bay-beach”. No sand here but come for the crystal clear azure-blue water and the snorkeling. Available parking is sparse so don’t drive for hours to go there. Narrow, worn, winding and somewhat steep road so depending on the car and your driving skills, the last part of the road might be challenging.
Troels F — Google review
Simple, rustic and beautiful. If you do the work and plan ahead. Go early morning in a day when the sea is quiet and you will be rewarded with an amazing experience.
Raffaello Z — Google review
Nice place for snorkeling, not very crowded, with clean water. I was a bit worried because of comments about the bad road, but I would say the road is actually quite ok - somewhat narrow, but definitely drivable.
Viktorija P — Google review
Little heaven on earth! The water has the most incredible color. There isn’t much place so its best to avoid during weekends. The tavern is also very good and gives you an authentic feeling. One of our favourite spots in Cretes

Hidden treasure! Wonderful turqoise water, deep directly. A pier you could jump from-perfect for our 7-10 year olds. Good simple food! Few people! 🇬🇷🤩☀️

We visited today. Lovely beach and the sea was beautiful. Parking was available right next to beach. Sun-beds are owned by the restaurant and just have to have a drink to use them. Min order €5. Food was good, all the Greek faves. There was a lifeguard too. Worth a visit.

Very quiet little beach that is easy to get to. Beautifully clear water and a cantina that serves drinks and snacks. It also provides a toilet. Lovely place to while away the afternoon. \

Not overly crowded with beautiful crystal clear waters. There were lots of different type of fish for snorkeling lovers. I recommend this place for anyone who likes to jump off a pier :)

I didn’t like the rocks and stones on the beach they hurt .. you seat it hurts, you walk it hurts .. if you have water shoes you are safe Beach is small.. you have showers and a changing space for clothes
Isabel C — Google review
There is one cafe there with simple snacks, juice and coffee. Parking is so easy and so accessible. There is outdoor shower to have a quick wash from the salty sea. Some day they could get very busy and very kid-friendly.

Beautiful beach with lot's of sunbeds and umbrellas that you can get for free if you are consuming something at some bar's or staying at some Hotels. The water and the Sandybeach are clean, in some part of the beach they may be some waves but in the other part they are none.

(Translated by Google) The place is nice but you have to find it. At the school in the middle of the hill turn left. You come across the sign. The best is to park before the small road which leads to an agriturismo. Just cross the garden and we come across the amphitheater. We listen to jazz in nature sitting on garden chairs under the olive trees. Something to drink if necessary. Choose your programming carefully because we came across some rather confusing modern jazz.
