Ginger Concept is a relaxed and bohemian restaurant located in the old town, offering a charming terrace and serving Mediterranean fare. The restaurant provides a unique dining experience with its Brazilian snacks, carpaccios, salads, and pizzas. Additionally, it features a lovely shop and is recommended by locals for its inviting ambiance and delicious cuisine.
Classy modern restaurant, very friendly and professional service. Book for dinner and sit outside at the back. Great music. Food is modern European, well cooked and with a hint of Brazilian. Coxinhas were excellent. Returned, a few days later, really busy, love the Brazilian jazz music, great vibe. Beef was good.

We had breakfast here. The food was excellent, and the drink I ordered was absolutely amazing — as was the sandwich in the photo. I asked twice for hot oat milk on the side of my espresso, but only on the third time did it finally arrive hot — by then, my coffee was already cold. We asked for a small change in one of the dishes, and they weren’t willing to accommodate, although they were flexible with the second dish. Overall, the place is cute. I recommend sitting inside if you don't want the "street atmosphere" (like garbage trucks and such). The interior design is stunning, everything is very aesthetic, and the food was truly delicious. The only downside: the prices are quite high for a breakfast.
Meri H — Google review
We absolutely fell in love with this place! What a marvellous spot to start the day and kick off our holiday adventures. We were so lucky to be staying just around the corner from Ginger Concept. The atmosphere, décor, and service were all spot on, everything just felt right. The little shop next door, connected to the restaurant, is stunning as well, full of warm and stylish garments and accessories. It’s got that gallery-like charm that fits perfectly with the vibe of the café. Even during the busy morning rush, the staff were so kind, quick, and attentive. And the omelette... oh my goodness! Simply amazing. It’s rare to find a place that can make something so simple taste so perfect, real comfort food that makes you feel at home. The coffee was top-notch too, brewed to perfection every single time. We love our breakfasts, and finding a gem like this one is truly special. We’ll 100% be coming back next time we’re in Chania!

Lovely spot in Chania’s Old Town with a cozy, bohemian vibe. Creative Mediterranean-fusion menu, great coffee, and friendly service. Perfect for a relaxed breakfast, brunch, or evening drink.

Beautiful and trendy spot for breakfast. I had a simple omelette and it was so delicious. The server understood gluten free. Would love to come back here for dinner!

Amazing! The drink was great! Fresh ginger with lemon and the slight mint! Amazing mixed perfectly! Then my Appetizer was amazing!

We ate here and I had a food poisoning. I had the tuna tartare and it was obviously not fresh at all. 20mn into eating I had big red patches all over my arms and legs, my face was swollen and red, and my heartbeat went up drastically (I had a watch to see it). We asked the waiters if it was fresh and they said yes and that I had an allergy to the bell peppers. Obviously not, I’ve eaten bell peppers all my life and never had any problem. I’ve also never had any allergic reaction to any food before, including tuna tartares. So the problem was here. The staff also clearly didn’t care at all, saying it wasn’t their fault. If you care about your health I wouldn’t recommend eating here.

The city cafe to be. Stop for breakfast coffee and early drinks. The crowd is business and lounge. The music is chill vibes and the service as sweet as the deserts. The mid shopping break when you ares downtown.

PALLAS is a trendy restaurant located in the beautiful Chania Town, offering outdoor seating with stunning water views. Housed in a historic building, the restaurant boasts a modern and distinctive style. The cuisine at PALLAS focuses on fresh, traditional Cretan products with a modern Mediterranean twist. The interior features bright areas with sofas and wooden tables, while guests can enjoy electro, lounge, soul, and funk music whether seated inside or outside overlooking the sea.
I had there one of the best dinner that I've ever had in my life. The food was amazing. The service was fantastic. The atmosphere could not be better. We got the balcony towards the sunset, and it was simply an incredible experience. I must say that a lot of this was due to the amazing service. We had from Yianis, who served us very well that night. I totally recommend and I hope to be back soon.
Matheus P — Google review
Excellent food, but frankly too pricey. Value is not there in our opinion. We ate at the best restaurants in each area we visited during our tour of Greece. This was the most expensive. Yes, the food was amazing, but we ate better elsewhere and paid less. It’s probably fine, given the amazing setting and location, but just know that it’s more money than it should be. We ordered the Pork Belly (exceptional), Pesto pasta (exceptional), 2x Uruguay Angus Steak (good, but that’s it, would not order again), sparkling moscato, and local rose. The view from our table was wonderful, but it’s loud from the passersby and dogs wandering and barking. Good one-time experience but we will not return. I highly recommend a reservation. We didn’t have one but went early enough and got lucky. While we were sitting we watched several people get turned away because the restaurant was full. Service was mostly good but we waited a bit to order, get drinks, and get break, unlike other amazing places that had flawless service.
MillionMile T — Google review
We booked here well in advance based on a recommendation. We knew it would be pricy, but also a very memorable experience. The service was wonderful - very attentive (I wish I could remember the waiters name) and the food exceptional. We enjoyed watching the sunset as we ate. Definitely book ahead of time to get a good table at the roof top area.
Sam S — Google review
Had dinner on the balcony overlooking the harbour. With the sun going down what a stunning vista. The young waiters were exceptional, very polite and helpful. Had the vast bean puree and taramas with fresh bread fir starters. It was all wonderful. Main course was a rib eye with greek fries and pepper sauce. Cooked perfectly. Really nice food. Dessert for us to share was chocolate mousse on a crispy base with caramel, vanilla bean ice ream and hot chocolate sauce. It didn't last long. All in all a fabulous place to eat. Don't come to Chania without a visit here.

Our favorite meal in Chania. We dinned on the rooftop for sunset and the view, service and food were amazing. Highly recommend getting reservations here. So excited I forgot to take pictures of all our choices, the prosciutto wrapped goat cheese was amazing. For dinner we had the cod and the beef. For dessert the dulcey tart was to die for.
Terri C — Google review
We got a special balcony and the view was beautiful. The food was soooo good. I haven't had this food this good in a while! It made me super happy. The Sommelier was knowledge of their wined and we had a delicious Pet Nat. Overall a wonderful restaurant.
Carolina S — Google review
Definitely arrived there for the views but as well very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the cuisine. Very romantic atmosphere with music on the background that makes you feel super relaxed. Salmon pave and lamb shank were outstanding, as well as, the dark chocolate dessert.
Marta — Google review
We booked for the rooftop (which is essential, many days in advance) at 22:00 and the view was spectacular - though of course would have been more picturesque on a clear day or at sunset. We were greeted by very friendly staff and seated with menus which seemed to differ slightly from what was available online. Our party of four went straight for mains given the time of day - and food was delivered promptly. I had the steak with languistines which was delicious and well-cooked - and the others each had a pasta dish which they said was fresh and yummy, though portion sizes were on the smaller side for the price. Service from the wine waiter was efficient also, though drinks did not arrive in advance of our bread which was disappointing. The bread course was pleasant though nothing to write home about. The wine when it arrived was very good. The atmosphere on the rooftop is worth paying for. Had we eaten the same floor on the ground or any other levels I'm not sure I'd have felt the same, compared to the fantastic food you can get in most places around the harbour. For the service, vibes, and atmosphere though - I'll be back!

Perched on Prophet Elias Hill near the Tombs of Venizelos, Koukouvaya is a popular meeting spot offering stunning panoramic views of Chania. The modern cafe boasts an owl-themed decor and a cozy atmosphere. Visitors flock here to indulge in their famous sweets like Zoumero and Igloo made from secret recipes using high-quality ingredients.
Impressive view with cool gusts of wind making the hot weather comfy. Food is very fresh and tasty with a big variety from salmon based to vegetarian based breakfast options. Gorgeous specialty when it comes to desserts with a huge variety. Everyone here is very friendly and welcoming. We are certainly coming back again before we leave.

Brilliant Coffee. Brilliant cakes. And the most amazing view overlooking Chania and the bay. Friendly and helpful staff. Even when things are busy. You must be lucky though to get a seat outside. We were lucky :)

If you visit Chania, this place is an absolute must! 🏝️ Koukouvaya offers one of the most breathtaking sunset views in all of Crete — overlooking the old Venetian harbor and the entire city of Chania. The atmosphere is relaxing, the staff are friendly, and the desserts and coffee are top-notch. Perfect spot for a romantic evening, photo lovers, or anyone who wants to enjoy the golden hour with a panoramic view. 🌇✨ Highly recommend coming just before sunset to grab the best seat

If you ever visit Chania, this place is an absolute must. The desserts are fresh and delicious, and the view stretches across the entire city. I recommend coming at sunrise — the sight is truly magical, and when paired with the incredible sweets, it creates an unforgettable experience. Keep in mind that they don’t take reservations, and there’s usually a long line of people waiting, so it’s best to arrive early.

What a delightful spot! We stopped here for coffee and dessert, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our time in Chania. The dessert selection was simply perfect — everything looked and tasted amazing, clearly made with care and high-quality ingredients. Paired with a well-crafted coffee, it was the perfect afternoon treat. The staff was exceptionally polite, attentive, and professional, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere from the moment we arrived. And the view over the Chania Gulf? Absolutely breathtaking. Whether you're looking for a quiet morning coffee or a sweet evening indulgence, this place offers not only great flavors but also a stunning location. Highly recommended!

Koukouvaya is one of those spots in Chania you just can’t miss. The view from up there is absolutely breathtaking… You can see the whole city and the sea, and if you catch it at sunset, it’s pure magic. Of course, the highlight for me was the chocolate pie (the famous “Zoumero”). It’s rich, gooey, and so delicious, easily one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Pair it with some ice cream and you’re in heaven. The service was also really warm and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. Even though the place can get busy, the staff makes you feel welcome and taken care of. All in all, it’s the perfect place to enjoy an amazing dessert with an unforgettable view.
Sam F — Google review
To round up day 10 of our Round The World travels, we headed to Koukouvaya Cafe for desserts and probably one of the best spots for sunsets in Chania. Koukouvaya earned its name either from the amazing views (360 degrees views – like an owl) or that there were many owls in the vicinity in the olden days. Inside, you’ll find a beautiful collection of various types of owls as well. There are 2 levels of seatings at Koukouvaya, both have alfresco, outdoor seats which are popular. Once inside, the waiting staff told us that we could sit anywhere we want and as all of the outdoor seats were taken up upstairs, we headed downstairs and there were a couple of “second row” seats outdoors which we promptly took up. After browsing through the menu, we decided on having the signature Zoumero Chocolate Cake (6.7 euros) and also an iced latte (5.2 euro) but the waiter mistook our order and brought 2 iced latte instead. Turned out to be just nice because the Zoumero was so rich, the latte helped to balance the tastes... A modern pastry shop offering a wide variety of cakes (cheesecake, lemon cake, mille-feuille, etc.), alcoholic drinks and/or soft drinks, as well as a selection of lunch options. On average, a dessert costs €6–8, a 0.33L cola costs €4, and beers start at €3.5. From the venue’s terraces, you can enjoy a stunning view of Chania’s Old Town, including the Venetian Harbor.

Phyllo is a well-known bakery in Chania for its delicious and creative brunch. All products are handmade and fresh with quality Greek ingredients, so the food is definitely worth waiting for. The service was kind and accommodating, asking about allergies and intolerances before seating us. Though we were seated inside, feeling safe as only people with blue passports were allowed to do so, the portions were HUGE! The prices are also very affordable given how good the food is.
Really love the ‘modern brunch with Greek influence’ menu !!! There were so many items I wanted to try but that just means I’ll have to come back to Chania again. Overall, the food was of great quality. The chefs are good at balancing creativity while preserving authentic flavours and textures. I’m really glad that avocado toast didn’t just mean a slice of bread with sliced avocado slapped on it. They pureed the avocado and layered it with another local cheese spread and I’m here for it. I was super happy with how crispy and huge the bougatsa is too.
Hsin L — Google review
It’s located in old town, very cosy. It was my last breakfast in Chania, avocado toast was fabulous, and instead of smashed avocado they prepare mousse, which is very unique, highly recommended. Greek yoghurt bowl was amazing as well, full of various fruits and nuts. Service was quick and friendly
Narmin G — Google review
Food was delicious, and service was decent however I went for the eggs of the avocado. I asked given I’m vegetarian if they could switch the salmon with anything else, I suggested an extra pouched egg which is still cheaper then then the cost of the meat given it comes with 2 eggs but they said no. So I payed full price for the dish and ordered 4 extra eggs at the price of €2.50 each. So for an easy breakfast I paid €23. No Accomodation for a vegetarian whatsoever and the manager/ owner seemed to not care.
Anand P — Google review
What can you say for this place, amazing food, friendly service and nice location. Recommending French toast and Sfakiani pita. Yogurt bowl was also great. (Please remove the pumpkin pie with apaki, pretty bad)
Alexandros G — Google review
The ultimate place for breakfast in Chania Old town. Located at a dreamy, romantic little street. The staff is exceptional, very friendly and attentive, a true representation of greek hospitality, with special kudos to the ray of sunshine Tzwrtzina. The coffee quality is perfect, as well as the fresh juices. Large variety of breakfast options, large portions, taste to perfection and very good prices. Can't wait to come back next year! 😍
Georgia V — Google review
A really nice, little, cozy place. We got the milk pie (kind of a Greek version of a cheesecake) and the pie with pumpkin and apaki. The pumpkin/apaki pie was of a very special taste but on a good side. The milk pie was really really good and tasty! All waiters that served our table were very kind and polite.

This was quite possibly one of the nicest brunch meals I’ve ever had - I had an Le Coq Sportif with grilled mushrooms/cheese/bacon/tomatoes and delicious pickled veges. Allergens marked on the menu, a good variety of gluten free! The coffee is great here too!! Highly recommend, can’t wait to go back!

Delicious stop at Papanikolakis Patisserie! I tried an almond cookie along with a few traditional Cretan desserts, plus a scoop of rich hazelnut ice cream—everything was flavorful and fresh. Pie shop
Located near the Municipal Market of Chania, Iordanis Bougatsa is a family-owned bakery that has been serving delightful bougatsa for over a century. Established in 1924, it is the oldest bougatsa store in Chania. The traditional bougatsa here comes in two varieties - sweet with custard and savory with myzithra, a local goat and sheep cheese.
Wonderful pie. The experience is a bit chaotic, because there can be a big line to sit and take away. But it is worth it. The pie is very very good, especially the traditional one. Also the greek coffee is good.
Enis — Google review
They have the wonderful bougatsa Iordanis and give you free water from tap but is drinkable and refreshing. A Big plus they have the announcement on the door and one knows from the entrance that if want take stay on the counter,if dine in you have to sit and be patient. With all the advertising they have from YouTubers the place is packed but somehow they manage beautifully all the crowd and even when mismatched the orders they cope with. Thank you. Efharisto poli. They have bougatsa with local cheese plain, with sugar and you have cinnamon on the table if you want to put on top. As well they serve bougatsa with cream filling which I don't have having in my mind idea of too sweet and don't feel like it.
Louanna N — Google review
A small family-run business, offering traditional bougatsa. You can choose between plain or with sugar options. It was very delicious and fresh. Plus, since it’s made with goat cheese, those with lactose intolerance can enjoy it without any issues. The history behind it is also very impressive. I definitely recommend it!
Ceren Y — Google review
Very hospitable service - sat us down and helped us with the order. Do try the Greek coffee and of course the bougatsa. It’s amazing on its own but you can also sprinkle sugar and cinnamon for taste. Highly recommended!
Daniel O — Google review
Exactly what you’re looking for if you want bougatsa – simple, authentic, and delicious. They even offered a vegan option, which is a big plus. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. Definitely a place I’d recommend for anyone craving bougatsa in Chania.
Sly — Google review
They served only one type of food and that was the bougatsa. I enjoyed but you have to get in early. We got the last portion of the day and it was only 2.30pm. Definitely worth trying as the portion was great value for money.
Andy L — Google review
It’s not just the tradition, here we talk about pure perfection 😁 Never had a bougatsa with cheese and sugar, but I must say it was delicious! The friendly atmosphere, the staff with their smile and jokes made the experience even sweeter and memorable. One of the must visit and taste places in Chania!
Alexandros T — Google review
Nice Bougatsa with local feeling. Many locals and tourists meet at the same place to drink coffee, discuss and eat bougatsa. You can also order coffee, fresh orange juice and other refreshments. It’s very crowded though and you normally have to wait to be seated. Iordanis bougatsa doesn’t taste like Thessaloniki’s bougatsa and I would only recommend the traditional one with the cheese and not the sweet/vegeterian bougatsa. The pastry in the bougatsa tastes similar to the galaktoboureko pastry. The service is very fast and staff is helpful. It is kids friendly.

Fresh Point Juice Bar is a charming spot tucked away in a narrow alley near the waterfront. It's an ideal place to recharge while exploring, offering freshly made juices using seasonal fruits and vegetables, along with large sandwiches, pastries, Greek yogurt, and fruit salads at affordable prices. The welcoming staff provides genuine Greek hospitality and takes the time to explain the menu while ensuring guests feel at home.
The best breakfast/lunch spot! We went here 3 times during our stay in Chania. It is a family run business and everyone who worked here was so friendly. To eat we got the veggie omelet, smoothies, orange cake, and baklava. I am still dreaming about all of them and wish I could go back!

The best place for breakfast in Chania. Great food at very reasonable prices. The staff were so friendly, we were made feel so welcome, they could not do enough for us. The food was delicious, everything made fresh each day, even their jam and marmalade. The Olive Oil was organic and was beautiful drizzled over the bread. Fresh point would definitely be my first choice for breakfast if I ever get to go back to beautiful Chania 🇬🇷

A charming little place that makes fresh juices and smoothies all day long! We came almost every day for their delicious pomegranate juice as well as many other fresh juices and smoothies, always perfectly prepared. The team is incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely kind. You can feel they love what they do and truly care about their customers. A wonderful spot I highly recommend! 🍹❤️

The best breakfast we had in Greece! The restaurant is cozy and welcoming from the moment you walk in, with the smell of freshly baked bread filling the air. The food? Absolutely fantastic! Fresh ingredients, crispy bread, olives full of flavor, and eggs cooked to perfection – fried, boiled, or in an omelette – however you like. Everything is served with care and great taste. The staff are incredibly friendly, always smiling and genuinely helpful. You can tell they care about their guests, and the warm atmosphere makes you want to come back every morning. If you’re in the area and looking for a great breakfast spot – this is it. Delicious, fresh, and made with love. 🇬🇷🥚🥖

After reading great reviews online, we decided to try this place out — and it did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in, the owner greeted us with such an infectious energy that it instantly brightened our morning. The menu is extensive, especially if you have a sweet tooth. We had yogurt with fresh fruit and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice — simply outstanding. Highly recommended spot for a top-notch breakfast!

Don’t miss this place in Chania! We had breakfast here two days in a row and it was amazing. Cretan breakfast comes with so much food we didn’t even need lunch! It was such a great way to start the morning. The staff is so kind and welcoming. ❤️ the juice is also so fresh and made right when you ordered.
Cori L — Google review
Edited - we went back again this morning for the breakfast. We’re always welcomed by the chef and his sons and they made us feel like home :) We asked to take a picture with the chef and I’m now his daughter ❤️ The hospitality in Crete is top-notched, everyone here is so friendly! You all did an amazing job and we’ll see you guys again in five years! Please stay healthy Papa! 🙏🏻❤️🇬🇷 We decided to have breakfast here because of their 5 star review on Google and were not disappointed. The food quality is outstanding, we ordered the Cretan pancakes and it’s the best greek food we’ve ever had! The special fruit salad in a watermelon bowl was big and refreshing. We LOVE the greek yogurt that comes with it! The restaurant is a family owned business with the father and his son. The service was excellent and the chef made sure that the food was okay for everyone. The price was great! We paid 21 euros for two dishes and a drink. Highly recommend!!

What an exceptional place!. So fresh, so friendly, so incredibly reasonably priced - in the main tourist area ... so it could easily have been over priced - but isn't. Everything was delicious ... portions were super generous ... and the staff were just exceptional. They thought of everything and I felt like id been welcomed as family would have been. Superb !!

Aroma Cafe is a charming spot situated in the Old Venetian Harbor of Chania, offering a perfect setting to relax and enjoy after exploring the town. Housed in a historic stone building, the cafe boasts beautifully decorated interiors that exude an inviting ambiance. Visitors can savor delicious meals and drinks while taking in picturesque views of the harbor. The attentive staff ensures a pleasant dining experience, with some guests even receiving complimentary treats as a gesture of hospitality.
A wonderful dinner whilst enjoying the scenic view of Old Town's port. Went for dinner. Ordered bruschetta with Salmon and muscles for starters. Both tasted really good. As mains we took Linguine with beef and mushrooms and lamb shank. Both dishes tasted excellent... highly recommended. Prices are slightly on the high side, but expected in this location. Keep up the good service!
Dorita T — Google review
Aroma Cafe is placed right at the port and has amazing views of the monument and the sea. The service was really nice but they could've done better with not being pushy about the ordering on a day which wasnt crowded and offering to take one drink off the bill if it wasn't served. But otherwise the food was nice and we'd recommend going here.
Parth G — Google review
Sitting by the water, Aroma has most of the Greek foods you would expect. Incredible views, but nothing is necessarily exceptional. It's well rounded, and service is good.
Harry F — Google review
Someone recommended this place to us. The food here was delicious! Everyone in our party enjoyed what they ordered. 10s across the board. We had a group of 16 and they were able to accommodate us.
Breanna S — Google review
This was a nice place to relax and watch the world pass by. The guy at the bar and the young lady serving were friendly and hospitable. Unfortunately the older lady serving needs to improve. We were pushed for time as had a long journey to make so after trying to catch her a few times to pay the bill, having sat with empty glasses for some time I eventually approached her when she had finished chatting to someone to ask to pay the bill. She was rather abrupt and said she'd sort it, then started wiping tables and doing various other tasks. I'd had enough by this point and fortunately realised I had enough cash just to leave it and go. Also, the "happy hour" advertised doesn't appear to be kept to as we were charged more than advertised. It's a shame as its in a nice place. I'd recommend avoiding this place.
Col D — Google review
Great breakfast with a view. The restaurant overlooks the pier with great views in the morning. The food itself is really good (especially the shakshouka which is called "chania special" for some odd reason). The price worth it, an awesome sense in an awesome place.
Magdalena O — Google review
Very tasty moussaka and pizza. Also cheescake as dessert was good. Good service and relaxing place by the sea. Enjoy without hurry.
Harri K — Google review
Sensational food and drink is just the tip of the iceberg here. The atmosphere is perfect, chill and cool in both senses of the words - a wonderful asset to counter the backdrop of the blistering but gorgeous port. The staff were beyond helpful. A group of six ghastly British tourists such as ourselves were easily welcomed and made to feel as such swiftly. The drinks on offer were exquisite, our small group ordering a wide range from the menu including beers, sangrias, iced teas and iced coffees. The food as above was immaculate. From presentation to taste, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We ordered salads, pastas, authentic Greek dishes and even a banana split to conclude. Without question, a highlight dining experience for our time in Crete. Easily a recommendation for any in the area and easily a return visit guaranteed when we find ourselves back in Chania. Thank you very much :)

This is such a beautiful place. Live singing/band, excellency service and AMAZING food. The orzo seafood was the best thing I’ve ever tasted. I highly recommend this place to travellers. 10/10 everything.

Fantastic restaurant in Chania! We had the Shrimp Saganaki, Gemista (stuffed vegetables), and Grilled Octopus – everything was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The atmosphere is cozy and charming, and the staff is very friendly and attentive. A wonderful spot for an authentic Greek dining experience.

I love this place. There are much fancier places in Chania and the place is mostly tourists but there are locals too and family of the proprietors hanging in front. House wine is good and here is the kicker, the Pizza is good! I had the chicken gyro pizza and it was nice to have after to much taziki and French fries after two weeks in Greece. Atmosphere is very nice. All outdoor and yeah…a lot of smokers (but that is Greece). Finally, they have great Greek musicians most nights and believe it or not there are not that many places with Greek musicians in Chania

Kormoranos Bakery Cafe is a charming spot located on Theotokopoulos street in the old city, offering a delightful selection of fresh croissants, meze dishes, and traditional Cretan pies. With indoor and outdoor seating, this quaint cafe serves up generous portions of meat-based dishes alongside Greek and Cretan specialties. Their variety of pies with leaks and cheese are fried to perfection and served with honey.
As we were meandering through the streets and narrow lanes, we came upon this bakery. It was busy, with all but one of the outside tables not taken. We had a quick look over the menu and decided, if it was this busy, it was bound to be good; and we weren't wrong. An extensive menu for such a small place and the menu was written in Greek and English. The waitress was prompt and polite and quickly took our order. We ordered spinach and cheese pies and a greek salad, along with a couple of drinks. The pies were delicious, warm and flavourful, and the salad was refreshing and crisp.
Julie P — Google review
A lovely little bakery just a few minutes walk away from the old town centre making it much less crowded and the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee and a freshly baked pastry. We stayed nearby 3 nights and visited this little bakery all 3 mornings for our caffeine fix and breakfast pastry. The cheese and spinach pie, the cretan cheese pie and the apple pie were all outstanding.
Lucy N — Google review
This local bar was the best thing in Chania town. The staff were really friendly and helpful. They do take-away coffee, offer lactose free/vegan milk, have tradicional Greek pastries but also a wide variety of breakfast options to sit down. We had breakfast here nearly every day of our stay. Would definitely recommend to stop by 💖
Luz R — Google review
Great little spot off the main tourist area of Chania-Crete. While we were on a stop from a cruise ship, we wandered into this charming little café with outside seating. We sampled the Greek frappe, spinach pie, cheese pie, some feta with olive oil and fresh olives. Our server was friendly and welcoming with a sense of humor. Would recommend if you are in the area and wandering the back streets of Crete.
KR A — Google review
An amazing cafe in the old town that serves incredible breakfast options. Try the Greek yogurt with honey - you won’t be disappointed. Everything we ordered was delicious and the prices were affordable (€9 for a breakfast including a drink). Highly recommended. They only have about six tables (all outside) so this place is best for solo travellers, couples, or small groups up to 4 otherwise seating could be a challenge.
Alissa A — Google review
Cute little bakery away from the main hussle and bustle of the old town. We visited this bakery three times whilst we were staying in Chania for our daily fredo cappuccinos and pastries. We tried the apple pie (fresh from the oven), the spinach and cheese pie and the cheese pie, which were all delightful. Well worth stopping in at this place when you are in Chania!

To Artopolion is a popular spot in Chania, Crete, known for its delicious brunch and coffee. Visitors highly recommend the Cretan croquette madam and the Cretan scrambled eggs. The traditional omelette, Cretan strapatsada, bacon pancakes, croissants, muffins, and baguettes are also favorites. The bakery offers a nice selection of pies and cookies with highlights such as the apple pie and sweet mini cinnamon pie.
This is a hidden gem. A little bit outside the historic center. Food is great so is coffee. A good range of breakfast options. Pictures of food speak for themselves. Yummy.

Great coffee shop serving a variety of delicious food and beverages. I visited here a few times during my stay in Chania, and every time I visited I had a great experience. Even when the cafe was super busy the staff always tried to make sure that everyone was taken care of, and all the staff were lovely. Everything I had here was superb - and they cater really well for vegetarians and vegans. Highly recommended!

We came here every morning while we were in Chania, mostly for iced (!) coffees and iced tea (which is even harder to find in Europe than iced coffee!) and one morning for sit down breakfast. The drinks were delicious and the food was outstanding, and the people who work here are so nice (especially the server with purple hair). 15/10 recommend

Chill Café with nice coffee, ideal for a quick pit stop before the morning can really begin. Highly recommend the feta pie or the olive/tomato bagel.

The place is great, and most of the food was delicious. The salad was amazing, and so were the desserts! As for the salmon sandwich — I didn’t really enjoy it because there were just too many ingredients inside. I think it would’ve been tastier if it were simpler. Other than that, it’s a nice spot, though a bit noisy.

I can’t say enough good things about this place! During my time in Chania, I went almost every day, and now I already miss it. The coffee is simply the best, perfectly made every single time. And the food? Absolutely incredible! Fresh, delicious, and made with so much care. Beyond the flavors, what truly makes this spot special is the warm and welcoming atmosphere. I loved going there to study and work, it’s the perfect place to focus while enjoying great coffee and food. The staff are always friendly, making you feel at home, and the overall vibe is just unbeatable. Whether it’s for a quick morning coffee, a delicious treat, or a cozy spot to get some work done, this place is a must-visit. The café Ζαχαροπλαστείο Sweet House is a remarkable establishment known for its exceptional cakes, which are not only the best in Crete but possibly in all of Europe. This family-owned business has gained popularity to the extent that even a 6-year-old daughter expressed her desire to move here due to their delectable creations. We are shopping here every night now since Monday. The breakfasts and coffee is great but the desserts are fabulous and of course very nice service both in the morning and night. Always working hard despite being so hot. Sadly we will be leaving in 2 days, still have few cakes we want to try!

Came here for lunch as a stop on a long 20km hike. Saw lots of folks with smoothies so ordered the beetroot and ginger one - so so good. Best I’ve had in ages - just the perfect blend with a lovely refreshing ginger kick. For lunch my husband had a sandwich and I had a plain crepe with mushrooms. The food is fresh and very simple ie it was just a crepe with a few fried mushrooms- perfect for me. However if you’re looking for something more fancy it may not be for you. For me freshly made and simple is perfect. Lovely laid back atmosphere in the cafe and often has locals in it too.

The lovely hostess said it wasn't a problem if I came back tomorrow to pay. So I did. And we had some great pies and pastries as well. All really nice! Today we came in and had some coffee sitting down at a table, which was even better. Our daughter joined, and got a cookie. We also had some pastries and overall really enjoyed hanging with the staff.

The real problem was the front-of-house staff. The two female employees I interacted with seemed visibly unhappy to be there. I even had to go find them myself, as they were sitting at a table rather than helping customers. I waited for someone to take my payment, and when they finally came over, all I was asked was what I was paying with, only to wait even longer for someone else to process it. To make matters worse, I had asked in advance if they accepted cards, but when I went to pay, the terminal didn’t work. I even had to bring my food back to the kitchen myself after walking back and forth. It felt like the servers were simply annoyed the entire time. Food might be fine, but the service needs serious improvement - it honestly put me in a bad mood

Traveled from Ohio, USA to beautiful Crete and was in love with this cafe! The service was incredible as was the food! I recommend this place for sure!

Lovely, helpful and attentive staff. Food and cocktails are delightful. They also offer affordable sun beds that cost €10 for 2 people.

This place is amazing! Very chill, fantastic staff, friendly and attentive. The internet is great for the area and it’s incredibly beautiful. Not to mention the views you get of the sea. Very reasonable pricing and very tasty foods, drinks and coffee. Very clean space and comfortable 🥰 Thank you so much for all your wonderful hard work, community love and fantastic service 🙏🏼❤️

Extremely beautiful spot for coffee. They have tons of seating both in the cafe itself as well as a lovely spot along the water. Great selection of coffees and they have a more full menu with food options and ice cream as well. Lots of protection from the sun as well and the staff spoke great English which was a plus as well. They do have a bar but we didn't order anything. Only downside we saw was one of the workers swatting and then tossing a cat. I don't have any context on the situation but the cat was slapped multiple times.

Only called for a drink at lunch time. Friendly staff, lovely view and a paddle in the sea!

Cafe Delight was amazing, the girl was cool with us, the view of the place is unbelievable, you can even swim in the sea (there is a stair where you can go to beach and come back to the cafe) actually I have no words, we saw everybody that arrived there was impressed! The food is also really good! I recommend 100%!

Best coffee in Kalyves. Staff very friendly and efficient. Try the freddo espresso con panna - it's delicious! The cocktails are also top tier. We have also tried the food - club sandwich and a chicken sandwich, both very tasty and very reasonably priced.

Very good selection of cocktails and light bites. Really nice Seaview setting. Staff friendly.

- amazing, delicious food (I can recommend Bueno&fruit pancakes and chocolate waffles) - big portions - friendly staff - nice sea view

A lovely place to chill, drink cocktails & have a snack overlooking the sea. The let down is the staff. She was miserable & we felt she didn't want to be there. I asked if she wasn't happy, & she replied 'not today'. I asked for some tap water & she said they don't serve tap water. I had to call her over from the otherside of the road to ask for our 2nd drinks & then again to ask for the bill. Previously, we have had good service with other members of staff. This is why I have only given 3 stars.

Nestled by the charming harbor, Crete Port Cafe is a delightful spot that captures the essence of relaxation and enjoyment. With its stunning views and refreshing sea breeze, it's an ideal place to unwind with a fantastic selection of cocktails or an ice-cold Mythos while catching your favorite sports events. The warm hospitality from Costas and his team makes every visit memorable, often sending guests off with a taste of honey raki that’s far more enjoyable than typical offerings.
Best bar in the world: fantastic cocktails, ice cold Mythos & any sport you care to watch. Also, a lovely location, overlooking the little harbour so usually a nice breeze coming through. Costas & team always provide a warm welcome and see you on your way with honey raki (much more palatable than the standard stuff). We keep coming back!

This place had the best shisha I’ve ever had. Some contraption on the top that keep the coals hot for a VERY long time. I smoked on it for an hour and the server never had to come change the coals or the renew the flavor! The wine and beer was about average - the same you would get anywhere.

Delicious waffle with beautiful view to the sea. It will be a little bit crowded and noisy. Price is good with the quality of food and service.

During our six-day stay in Crete, we visited Crete Port Cafe every morning. A special place with excellent service. We would like to single out Ms. Maria, for her excellent service and friendliness. Our tremendous experience provided us with a place we will never forget!

Friendly waitress, good location, nice coffee. And complimentary chips for the beer 👌 Prices are a bit on the higher side though.

The cafe serves an array of delicious options, from fresh baguette rolls filled with feta and turkey to refreshing smoothies and fruit drinks.
A lovely spot for breakfast or a light brunch. I had breakfast here for several days in a row, and each time the food was fresh and the coffee was excellent. The staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is peaceful and relaxed, with a beautiful view of the sea. Highly recommended!

There coffee (latte hot) is a great starter at 0600. Parents live here for 15 years & had to go & meet Harry & his son. They make good coffee! Double shot will get you going everyday. Great atmosphere under the trees in the seated area, great closed in beach views, parking in the "dirt block" next door. Must have had 20 coffees in the 4 weeks we were there. Definitely be back Harry.

Wonderful morning coffee and cake haven. It is just far enough away from the beach to enjoy the tree shade with a little peace and quiet. Recent, not yet experienced, is the evening wine bar. Will correct this when we next visit Kalives in September.

It's a tiny cafe just off the roadside, but with lots of seating in the shade, under bigger trees. We just had a fresh orange juice each. The young man who took the order was smiling and very pleasant. It's a gathering place for people to put the world to rights before going off on their own business! And it has a sea view
