We were seated in the ancient turkey bath room, a very unique area of the restaurant. The food was great, and so was the atmosphere. The service was a bit spotty, finding it hard to get our waiter attention, but the room was quite full so I fell like taking only one star off. All in all a great experience and for a very reasonable price.

Food was stunning. Had the tamam salad, naturally and it was very fresh. Walnuts, avocado mash, mint, radish and a lovely sauce to bind everything together. Also had the moussaka, which was prepared meticulously, starting with perfectly poached(?) potatoes on the bottom, a layer of beef and tomato mix, a smooth aubergine and a cheese topping that had such a lovely punch. 100% would recommend. And to top it off, we were served with complimentary Baklava!

Definitely recommend it. The location is great. The staff is very friendly. The food was pretty good. We had : Traditional sausages - very aromatic, fresh tasting Traditional cretan pies - very tasty Smoked aubergine dip - interesting taste but not sure I would recommend Smirnean Rabbit - delicious; definitely try it Mousaka - absolutely horrendous ; the texture was all wrong, too mushy and the taste was bland; the reason for the missing star

No need to say much about this place… it’s PURE ART! The chefs here are true artists of food. Honestly, I don’t know how I’ll enjoy food the same way again after having lunch at Tamam. Every dish was authentic, full of flavor, and simply unforgettable. One of the many reasons I’ll come back to Chania is definitely this restaurant. Just WOW!

Went in September with a group of friends for lunch. The place was almost full so we were lucky to find a table available without a reservation. Service was quick although they were at capacity, the food was super interesting and delicious and the prices were reasonable. Would definitely come back.

We were recommended this restaurant by a local while sharing a taxi from the airport to the city. We went there first on a Sunday evening, it was so busy we couldn't get a table, so we booked a table for Monday evening. I'd say it didn’t disappoint—especially the beef in tomato sauce with aubergine purée. The beef was incredibly tender, and the sauce complemented it perfectly. The staff were also very kind and offered us a mix of zucchini balls and tomato balls since we couldn’t decide which to order. I would like to recommend it to you as well.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Tamam in Chania. Very yummy, and well presented dishes in an authenticity Cretan space. We had the moussaka, lamb chops and sea bass. Stand out food in a very touristic area surrounded by other not so good establishments. This one is definitely worth a visit if you love your food but you will need to make a booking.

Excellent food, but frankly too pricey. Value is not there in our opinion. We ate at the best restaurants in each area we visited during our tour of Greece. This was the most expensive. Yes, the food was amazing, but we ate better elsewhere and paid less. It’s probably fine, given the amazing setting and location, but just know that it’s more money than it should be. We ordered the Pork Belly (exceptional), Pesto pasta (exceptional), 2x Uruguay Angus Steak (good, but that’s it, would not order again), sparkling moscato, and local rose. The view from our table was wonderful, but it’s loud from the passersby and dogs wandering and barking. Good one-time experience but we will not return. I highly recommend a reservation. We didn’t have one but went early enough and got lucky. While we were sitting we watched several people get turned away because the restaurant was full. Service was mostly good but we waited a bit to order, get drinks, and get break, unlike other amazing places that had flawless service.

We booked here well in advance based on a recommendation. We knew it would be pricy, but also a very memorable experience. The service was wonderful - very attentive (I wish I could remember the waiters name) and the food exceptional. We enjoyed watching the sunset as we ate. Definitely book ahead of time to get a good table at the roof top area.

Had dinner on the balcony overlooking the harbour. With the sun going down what a stunning vista. The young waiters were exceptional, very polite and helpful. Had the vast bean puree and taramas with fresh bread fir starters. It was all wonderful. Main course was a rib eye with greek fries and pepper sauce. Cooked perfectly. Really nice food. Dessert for us to share was chocolate mousse on a crispy base with caramel, vanilla bean ice ream and hot chocolate sauce. It didn't last long. All in all a fabulous place to eat. Don't come to Chania without a visit here.

Our favorite meal in Chania. We dinned on the rooftop for sunset and the view, service and food were amazing. Highly recommend getting reservations here. So excited I forgot to take pictures of all our choices, the prosciutto wrapped goat cheese was amazing. For dinner we had the cod and the beef. For dessert the dulcey tart was to die for.

We got a special balcony and the view was beautiful. The food was soooo good. I haven't had this food this good in a while! It made me super happy. The Sommelier was knowledge of their wined and we had a delicious Pet Nat. Overall a wonderful restaurant.

Definitely arrived there for the views but as well very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the cuisine. Very romantic atmosphere with music on the background that makes you feel super relaxed. Salmon pave and lamb shank were outstanding, as well as, the dark chocolate dessert.

We booked for the rooftop (which is essential, many days in advance) at 22:00 and the view was spectacular - though of course would have been more picturesque on a clear day or at sunset. We were greeted by very friendly staff and seated with menus which seemed to differ slightly from what was available online. Our party of four went straight for mains given the time of day - and food was delivered promptly. I had the steak with languistines which was delicious and well-cooked - and the others each had a pasta dish which they said was fresh and yummy, though portion sizes were on the smaller side for the price. Service from the wine waiter was efficient also, though drinks did not arrive in advance of our bread which was disappointing. The bread course was pleasant though nothing to write home about. The wine when it arrived was very good. The atmosphere on the rooftop is worth paying for. Had we eaten the same floor on the ground or any other levels I'm not sure I'd have felt the same, compared to the fantastic food you can get in most places around the harbour. For the service, vibes, and atmosphere though - I'll be back!

We had breakfast here. The food was excellent, and the drink I ordered was absolutely amazing — as was the sandwich in the photo. I asked twice for hot oat milk on the side of my espresso, but only on the third time did it finally arrive hot — by then, my coffee was already cold. We asked for a small change in one of the dishes, and they weren’t willing to accommodate, although they were flexible with the second dish. Overall, the place is cute. I recommend sitting inside if you don't want the "street atmosphere" (like garbage trucks and such). The interior design is stunning, everything is very aesthetic, and the food was truly delicious. The only downside: the prices are quite high for a breakfast.

We absolutely fell in love with this place! What a marvellous spot to start the day and kick off our holiday adventures. We were so lucky to be staying just around the corner from Ginger Concept. The atmosphere, décor, and service were all spot on, everything just felt right. The little shop next door, connected to the restaurant, is stunning as well, full of warm and stylish garments and accessories. It’s got that gallery-like charm that fits perfectly with the vibe of the café. Even during the busy morning rush, the staff were so kind, quick, and attentive. And the omelette... oh my goodness! Simply amazing. It’s rare to find a place that can make something so simple taste so perfect, real comfort food that makes you feel at home. The coffee was top-notch too, brewed to perfection every single time. We love our breakfasts, and finding a gem like this one is truly special. We’ll 100% be coming back next time we’re in Chania!

Beautiful and trendy spot for breakfast. I had a simple omelette and it was so delicious. The server understood gluten free. Would love to come back here for dinner!

Amazing! The drink was great! Fresh ginger with lemon and the slight mint! Amazing mixed perfectly! Then my Appetizer was amazing!

We ate here and I had a food poisoning. I had the tuna tartare and it was obviously not fresh at all. 20mn into eating I had big red patches all over my arms and legs, my face was swollen and red, and my heartbeat went up drastically (I had a watch to see it). We asked the waiters if it was fresh and they said yes and that I had an allergy to the bell peppers. Obviously not, I’ve eaten bell peppers all my life and never had any problem. I’ve also never had any allergic reaction to any food before, including tuna tartares. So the problem was here. The staff also clearly didn’t care at all, saying it wasn’t their fault. If you care about your health I wouldn’t recommend eating here.

The city cafe to be. Stop for breakfast coffee and early drinks. The crowd is business and lounge. The music is chill vibes and the service as sweet as the deserts. The mid shopping break when you ares downtown.

Exactly what we were looking for. Authentic restaurant just in front of the beach, no cars, nice traditional sea food and totally reasonable prices. The owners are super accommodating. A very nice experience. We will definitely come back!

Firstly, the location of this place on Google maps is wrong. It's beside Anika Apartments and not The Five Restaurant. Food was very good but service poor. The girl that was serving us seemed like she's fed up with life - quite a pity as we really liked the dishes yet we wouldn't come back due to the service. Prices are affordable and reasonable especially for a place by the beach. If you're just looking to eat something without being bothered, it's place for you. If you're looking for customer service along with good food, I don't think you'll find it here.

The food was awful, the gyros had NO tzatziki, only some disgusting yogurt on top, the meat was awful. We waited 45 minutes for 6 small gyros and when we asked how long it takes, the waiter started to yell and we waited another 25 minutes. Never again! Don’t recommend!!!!

The food wasn't the best. We had a late flight, and this was the only restaurant still open. We ordered souvlaki, and the meat was undercooked and full of gristle. We didn't eat there again.

The food was very bad, we ordered a gyros and the meat was mostly gristle. All the gyros had was gristle, a lot of onion, two pieces of tomato and a tiny bit of yogurt on top. We waited 50 minutes for the gyros and when we asked about it the waiter started to yell at us that this is a taverna (?!). Do not come here. Horrible.

After a dip in the sea, we visited this lovely place again. This time we had a Greek salad and the shared platter for 2. They gave us a free desert after our meal. But it didn’t last long enough to take a picture.

This was a positive surprise! We had the Small Mix Plate and everything was perfectly grilled and tastefull. This was also my first Grilled Feta Cheese and Fried Zucchini , and it really set the bar high. Good location, good service, and would recommend a visit if you want to enjoy good local food.

Very nice place near the Harbour. We sat there to have a few drinks. The staff is kind and the environment is great. The view is amazing. We didnt eat there, only took drinks so I cannot judge the food. But definitely recommend to pass by if you want some drinks with a good view, and also not too expensive!

Fantastic spot at the old harbour in Chania. The food was delicious, every course came with something special and it was a pleasure to discover the different flavors. We came as a big group (16 adults and 5 kids) and had a set menu. Everyone loved it — several said they would definitely return. Standout dishes were the eggplant with fermented fava beans, avocado taramasalata, duck breast fillet with beetroot risotto, and the sea bass in ladokolla. Desserts were also amazing. A fantastic dining experience by the water.

This restaurant is on the far eastern side of Chania Old Harbor, right on the Harbor. This is my husband’s boss’ favorite Chania restaurant. So, we had to try it. It was so good, we went here twice and got basically the same dishes because they were so amazing. Great views. Watch the bustling people and horses and harbor. Or there are 2 areas you can sit inside, one of which is a long cave. My husband says the stuffed zucchini flowers are one of the best things he’s ever tasted. I know the olives are a small dish but get them! They’re different, the oil is sweetened. The French Fries with a dip of mayo, sumac and lime are terrific. As is the Peinirli with Kimas (ground lamb, graviera cheese, pickled onion and sriracha aioli on a pizza dough. ) it appears anything you order here would be amazing. They also give a yummy little chocolate thing after the meal. They have local beers. Our server was Babis was also excellent.

Really good service and really nice waiters! The food was delicious and the price could be higher for that quality and taste. Perfect way to enjoy local cuisine with the view of sea for a reasonable price. Also many vegetarian options but I would recommend to ask if your preferred food is vegetarian to avoid misunderstandings (especially as a tourist, that doesn’t understand the language).

We ordered the steamed mussels, cherry tomato salad, octopus carpaccio, and grilled octopus for appetizers. Everything was absolutely delicious. I was completely obsessed with the carpaccio and the grilled octopus; honestly, I could eat them every single day if I could. 🐙✨ For mains, we had the buffalo ravioli (yes, buffalo meat, not cheese), the spaghetti with shrimps, and the Black Angus inside skirt. The ravioli was unique and definitely worth trying, the spaghetti was a perfect 10/10, and the Black Angus was cooked beautifully. Overall, such an amazing experience. Fantastic food, great variety, and dishes that really stood out. Highly recommend! 🍝🥩

One of the best dining experiences we've had in Chania! Every dish was delicious, and the fine dining atmosphere was perfect. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, just like everywhere on the island. A must-try when in Chania!

I discovered this restaurant by chance and ended up eating here four times in a row. You can really feel the owner’s respect for food in every dish. I tried four different grilled fish, all incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. The fried calamari is a very common dish in Greece, but here it’s by far the best I’ve ever had. The seasoning was spot on, the batter was thin and crispy, and the squid inside was tender and flavorful—some pieces were even juicy inside. The octopus salad is a must-try—I loved it so much I even ordered one to take away for breakfast. The fish soup was also a surprise; it wasn’t what I expected, but it turned out to be really delicious as well. Overall, this place is outstanding for seafood lovers. Highly recommended!

This must have been the best price to food ratio. I’ve been in Greece for 7 days and have never been able to have 2 appetizers, 1 main and a glass of wine for 36 euros. The lower price does not mean sacrifices are made to the quality and taste as the ladies in the kitchen cook great dishes. I highly recommend visiting them when you’re in old town.

We came here in the winter and summer, weekdays and weekends, and the food is always perfect. During summer you’re probably going to wait for a table but not for long, 15 minutes max. We tried the fish, mussels, squid, octopus, and pasta and they were cooked to perfection. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, and even when it’s crowded, the service is not slow. The prices are very reasonable and lower than other seafood restaurants here. Hats off to the amazing chefs. Definitely recommended!

Amazing restaurant. Went for dinner 4 days in a row. Everything tasted very fresh and was delicious. Price is unbeatable for the quality. Service was quick which was great. Expect to line up after around 6:30-7pm. Really liked the grilled cuttlefish, fried anchovies, mushroom risotto, and shrimp pasta. Complimentary strawberry sorbet was much appreciated.

Great restaurant. Very tasty food, good service and reasonable prices. Awesome grilled seabass and seabream. We've eaten twice during our stay, that says something. Be prepared to wait for your table. Roughly anything between 15 min to an hour. Food is worth the wait though. Enjoy.

Good place to eat seafood and some snacks. Saganaki was good but I have had better before. Not a big fan of deep-fried cheese. I’d prefer mastello in Chios 🙂

We had a wonderful lunch at this place, which was one of the recommendations from our hotel. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we were dining in someone’s home. The server warmly welcomed us and explained that they offer daily specials made from fresh, local ingredients — dishes that aren’t listed on the menu. We tried the seafood risotto with shrimp, mussels, and octopus, along with a zucchini pie and a perfectly cooked fish served with vegetables and more risotto. Everything was unbelievably delicious — full of flavor and clearly prepared with care. One of the highlights was watching the food being prepared right in front of us, adding to the homey and authentic experience. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the entire meal felt like a lovingly prepared home-cooked feast.

A very beautiful, peaceful, and atmospheric place. We were welcomed warmly — they even offered a cushion for our child’s chair. The waiters and the manager were all very friendly. The food was delicious, and the prices were reasonable. We were also treated to some ice cream, which was a lovely touch. I definitely recommend visiting!

Location looks amazing, which is why it is so disappointing that the food is more expensive than most and the meat of low quality. Most other restaurants charge around 30-35 Euros for a 2 person grill. Here the two person grill is 40 Euros, and they added additional charges for the tzatziki. In the end I paid 53 euros and I am not sure why. Please do not go here as they prey upon tourists.

We came to this restaurant based on recommendations, but unfortunately, it was disappointing. The food was bland and not tasty — the only dish we actually enjoyed was the lettuce salad. Drinks were very overpriced, and the most frustrating moment was when, as soon as we sat down, they brought us a basket of dry bread, five olives, and about a spoonful of bland tomato sauce. When the bill came, we saw that we were charged €1.80 each for it. While the price isn’t outrageous, it was upsetting that they didn’t mention there would be a charge, or ask if we even wanted it in the first place. On top of that, the waiter who took our order was impatient and unfriendly. I don’t recommend eating here — the place might look nice, but with food like this and service like that, it's not worth it.

Paid 16,20€ for lamb chops that had barely any meat. Made a complaint to the waiter and he tried to explain to me what lamb chops are as if it was my first time eating them. Obviously I know that lamb chops contain bones but when you order lamb chops in a restaurant for 16,20€ they shouldn’t bring 4 chops with barely any meat. In every other Restaurant (which is also cheaper) you get 5 with proper meat. I couldn’t even eat these chops. Very disappointed! Never had an experience like this in a greek restaurant. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Mousaka was amazing with 10/10; a must try if you dine here. Souvlaki was okay, taste was nothing special. Pizza was blah, and I wish they seasoned the dish. Overall, I would visit again just for the Mousaka. Calamari you could taste the freshness and was enjoyable.

If this restaurant were a person, its pronouns would be she/ it. Start to finish it wasn’t a nice experience, service was poor and they brought out bread and tried to charge €1.80 per person. The food tasted like it had been heated up from frozen.

We enjoyed our lunch here. Seating options available outside on the street or in the restaurant. Very interesting venue, set in a burnt out house with exposed stone walls, missing roof and burnt trusses. The staff was friendly and helpful in helping us to choose our dishes. The grilled sea bass we had was cooked to perfection, with a light smoky char outside and moist tender meat inside. The golden fries were also nicely crispy outside. Price is very reasonable especially considering this is a touristy location.

Simply the best food we had during our week in Crete, so much so we went back a second time. Melting in your mouth lamb, perfectly prepared vegetables, everything was amazing! The place also is really beautiful, located in an old burned down building, it's definitely a pleasure to dine here! If you are looking for a traditional taverna in Chania, this is the one!

Lovely place. We wanted to go here as it's one of the oldest tavern in Chania. The Bougainvillaea is so beautiful to sit underneath and eat the Lovely food. Will definitely return.

The atmosphere is very nice, there are about 4 places where you can sit and each has a different atmosphere. You can sit inside, outside in the middle of the street, hidden in the corner of a street and last a place where you are kinda out of the way but still have a nice view. The food is good and you can get the menu on different languages. The staff know some words in each language so they are fun to talk to

Restaurant built in 1650 brings an aura to the open roof while dinning. Attended in July 2025 in the peak of the hot season and being open it was hot, but the cold drinks were great. Service with a smile. Well recommended.

We had mezze for two (plate of starters), it was tasty but not compared to a full meal we had almost in front of this restaurant with meat and moussaka. Overall the personnel super friendly and fair prices!

The Best of the Best in all Chania! Absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish! I go often and I love it ! The service is more than perfect, as a gastronomic restaurant, attentive, and genuinely welcoming — we felt taken care of the entire time. The food is incredible: every dish was beautifully presented, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. You can really taste the quality and care in each bite. The ambiance is cozy yet refined, creating the perfect atmosphere for a relaxed and memorable meal. This place is a true gem — highly recommended and definitely worth returning to!

Elegant Dining on Chania’s Venetian Harbour Kariatis was one of the most memorable meals of our honeymoon. Nestled along the Venetian harbour, the restaurant is sophisticated yet welcoming, with candlelit tables and views of the old Kastelli wall. From the moment we arrived, the service was attentive without ever feeling rushed. We began with an Italian salad and pillowy gnocchi gorgonzola—rich, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully plated. For mains, I ordered the pappardelle with beef fillet and fresh black truffle, while my husband had the lobster and shrimp risotto with aged Parmigiano Reggiano. Both dishes were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. Dessert was a standout too: gianduja with mango sorbet, light yet indulgent. A special thank-you to Анастасія, who was kind, engaging, and genuinely fun to chat with. Her food and wine recommendations were spot-on and added so much warmth to the evening. We ended the meal with a complimentary aperitif—a lovely final touch. Kariatis combines fine dining with heartfelt hospitality, and it’s easy to see why it’s one of Chania’s most beloved restaurants.

The food was great. It leaned more Italian and maybe some Japanese fusion. Everything we got was beautifully plated, perfectly seasoned, and well portioned. It made a great place for a special last dinner in Crete.

Absolutely stellar experience. From the start, we arrived with no reservation on a busy Saturday night and the lovely wait staff went above and beyond to create us a table out the front of the establishment. From here, we experienced excellent service, perfect food (yellow fin tuna tar tare, prosciutto salad, pizza), and an amazing cocktail (cretan spritz). We dined at your restaurant this evening and were initially pleased with the quick reservation we secured over the phone around 8:00 PM. The gentleman we spoke with was welcoming and provided a nice table. However, the 'Passion Fruit Mocktail' was extremely disappointing—the worst drink I've ever had. When I politely asked to exchange it for a Coke Zero, the waiter insisted on knowing why, emphasizing its popularity. Eventually, another waiter brought my Coke Zero, but the initial waiter seemed offended and ignored our table for the rest of the evening, even skipping the customary check-in about the food. The beef pasta was tasty, but the tomato and burrata pasta was just okay, and the appetizer bread was disappointing. While the other servers were professional and kind, the overall experience was marred by the initial waiter's unprofessional reaction to my drink preference. Considering the high prices, I expected better service.

The cocktails were fantastic and unique… the food was upscale but not without flavor.. the dessert rivaled Michelin Starred Meals.. but the service. This was what will keep this meal in my memory for life. Highly recommend for a nice meal

The food was excellent! The tart tar was one of the best I’ve ever had , and the salad was delicious as well .. the potatoes with the staka , were a touch more salty than it had to , and the egg that had in the middle was a little bit less cooked than it should have been . The pork with the pita was really nice , and the beef fillet was perfectly grilled . I am giving 4 stars , and not 5 , because : they brought bread without asking us which was charged around 3 euros per person , also about the not so good dish with the potatoes and lastly because they could lower their prices just a bit (1-2 euros per dish ) ( I worked at a restaurant for many years so I know about the pricing etc ) . Rather than the last paragraph, it is a place that you must give a try , besides the food , of its location as well ..

An absolutely perfect experience from start to finish! The dishes were simply delicious. I had an incredibly generous Caprese salad, served with asparagus, pears, plenty of tomatoes, fresh pesto, and a mountain of pine nuts… pure delight! My husband had the roasted lamb, perfectly cooked, with balanced flavors and a beautiful presentation. The service was just as exceptional – warm, attentive, and genuinely eager to connect with us despite the language barrier. It’s a place we won’t forget and one I wholeheartedly recommend! We’ll happily return in a few days to try more dishes when we’re back in Chania.

Very fine and creative kitchen in a relaxing athmosphere next to the harbour of Chania. We came spontaneous around lunch time and without any reservation - They treated us very well and the service is very professional. Ordered 4 simple dishes and they served us 4 perfectly interpreted versions of the same with their own touch ! Delicious 😋 When ordering the check, they served us a complimentary small fresh fruit platter and rose raki. - Very kind. We will come back 👍🏼

I am from Chania . The food was a spin on traditional cousin and it tastes like it is really good . I would highly recommend. You should 100% get the gyoza and the Cretan salad .The atmosphere was amazing. With relaxing music playing. The restaurant had great view of the old port . Highly revered

I have to say the meal was Superb! In a place like Chania which has so many bars and restaurants you don’t always expect quality but Arismari certainly stands out from the crowd Friendly and welcoming staff, not pushy - very knowledgeable - Christos was superb as was the food - not the cheapest but still extremely tasty

We took 2 sea bass. The food overall was good, portions a bit small, but the side dish wasn’t really on our taste. We received something sweet at the end. The menu doesn’t has a lot of options.

A beautiful restaurant literally on the coast of Chania. Make sure to come by during sunset to see one of the most beautiful views of Crete. Oh and their seafood is excellent too, especially the octopus. Service was fast and respectful.

We had a fantastic late dinner here. Great food, vibe, and service. We ordered the Greek Salad, Fresh Calamari Grilled, Fresh Octopus Grilled, and around a 450g portion of fresh fish. This was a good amount of delicious food for 2 somewhat hungry people. If you're driving down here, the streets in this area are narrow (even by Cretan standards) and cobblestone and finding a parking spot might be tough. That said, the night time drive did add a bit to the overall ambience of the evening.

Delicious and fresh seafood - freshest mussels we’ve had, the octopus, red mullet and calamari were amazing too. We went just right before sunset and had a table by the sea to enjoy the view. Service was really quick - would recommend making a reservation.

What can I say? Probably the most romantic place to have dinner in Chania, away from the crowds of the city center. Food is great and the service is attentive. Ask if your hotel can help you book and try to reserve a table before 8/9pm when it gets very busy. Definitely a must go-to!

The food was amazing, the ambiance is a scene from heaven during sunset. It is pretty expensive for the island but still was delicious. Calamari was the best but I have tried better octopus in other restaurants in greek islands. It was super crowded even though we went in weekday so the service was a bit slow especially we waited 40 minutes for the check.

This place is perfect! Food is amazing, view is breathtaking at sunset, setting is ideal - just some tables in an amazing location-just what you need (hope this never changes), service is quick, everybody from the staff is nice and kind and Antoni that welcomes the guest is truly a nice character. Had a wonderful time here, highly recommend! Everything is delicious and will come back for more!

Best food I've ever eaten. We got the local snapper and shared it Between 3 people. The serving size for salads was generous. I highly recommend the fishermen's salad. The atmosphere was beautiful, romantic and when the sun went down, absolutely perfect! The staff were able to fit us in even though we didn't have a reservation. We went at 7.30pm.

I am not sure which portion of our stay was the best. The hotel itself is absolutely remarkable and historical. Our hotel rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious. Their staff was friendly and helpful. BUT their restaurant was so delicious! From their breakfast to dinner and cocktails. The flavors and freshness did not disappoint. MonEs provided us with the best dinner in Chania!

Fine hotel, would predict the hotel's downfall though. Solid but simple and tasteless design, great potential, but cheaply constructed. As a guest here for 3 days, was nice. Location is good, rooms are large and pretty, but, not the best quality place. So it being a new place, it was nice, but I would not take the risk of going back in say 5 years out of fear of degradation. There was construction in the building over at 8:00 to wake you up which was lovely. Highlight of the hotel is the area. Really, it is a cheap hotel which benefits from the beautiful old town chania environment it exists in. If the younger people working the front desk read this, you were all great and friendly. Nice to meet you. The manager, is something else, not a lovely presence to say the least. Young people if you’re reading this, I understand and see your frustration with this tyrant.

Absolutely outstanding experience at Mon.Es Restaurant! The food was nothing short of excellent — every dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The service was top-tier; the staff were warm, attentive, and truly made us feel welcome from start to finish. And can we talk about the toilets? Even those were a highlight — historical, artsy, and incredibly unique with their stunning stone and glass floors. It’s rare to find a place where every single detail has been thoughtfully curated. 100% recommended — Mon.Es Restaurant is a must-visit!

What a hidden gem!! In the middle of everything and about 2 blocks at most from the Harbor. Check in was wonderful and the Receptionist very accommodating and answered all our questions and gave us great tips as well. The rooms were ample enough great pillows, mattress and very very clean room and bathroom. Breakfast was tasty and they serve very generous portions. Most importantly there is an elevator which is perfect for elderly people like us. Property is so beautiful- don’t pass up the opportunity to stay here!!

MonEs Hotel is a beautiful place to stay in Chania Old Town. The building is a restored Venetian mansion, full of character but with modern comforts. Our room was very special, with its own private hot tub. The spa with its hammam and indoor pool is also a great way to relax after exploring. The location is ideal, quiet and tucked away yet just steps from the harbor and the old town streets.

Gorgeous outside seating area (especially as day turns to night) and a lovely spot to stop for a drink. I didn’t eat here, so I can’t comment on their food, but I was really impressed with their cocktail menu. I had the Fizzy Flower, which was excellent. Service was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Highly recommended!

We visited Boheme during our team retreat and it turned out to be a great choice. The whole group especially loved their cocktails - creative, well made, and a highlight of the evening. While the dinner menu had limited options, every dish we ordered was delicious and well presented. A stylish spot with great drinks and food worth trying.

We've stopped for a drink and cool-down on a hot summer day for memories from the next garden, which used to be Historical Museum of Chania some years ago. Nice garden friendly service, free cold water, good drinks, snaks along beer. Kitchen wasn't available at that time, however we didn't stop for eating, so it was totally OK with us.

This was my first day in Chania, and I had high expectations for this place based on one recommendation, unfortunately, it turned out to be quite disappointing. The breakfast was far from impressive, and I honestly wouldn’t recommend it. The service was average at best, but what really stood out was how slow everything was. While the ambiance is nice and the music was pleasant, it’s not enough to make up for the overall experience. The menu is very limited and basic, offering little variety. In the end, it felt like a place that’s more about hype than actual quality. I won’t be coming back.

Tastiest food of our whole trip. Extremely good service, good price to quality ratio. Im glad that the menu did not have way too many options. All 4 foods we got were amazing, delicious and reasonably priced. The potatoes also were really good and perfectly seasoned! Best food in our trip for sure!

i'm genuinely saying this with no hate we had two different pasta types and a Sicilian salad. The salad was nice, but the pasta was the worst that I ever had in my whole entire life. And pasta is not something that you can make terrible. It can be not the best but for it to be not edible is the next level I think.

To net it out. Very good food, good prices, and a great group of people that work here. The team is extremely friendly and helpful. I would return to eat without hesitation. A couple of things to note. There is no table service. You order at the counter and pickup your food. When the beeper signals. There is a reasonable amount of seating. But I thought it was too hot to eat inside. Luckily they have some outdoor seating. I ordered their special pizza. A fantastic thin crust. With just the right amount of crunch. Everything else about the pizza was very good as well. That said, don't be like me. Take time to review the menu. If I had done so. I probably would still have gotten the special pizza. I simply would have gotten the smaller size and ordered the mushroom apitizer to go with it. The pollo looked like a great choice as well. Plenty of great looking options on the menu for everyone. They will make your dish vegan. If that is the way you roll.

The food here is amazing. They explain the menu and all the options to newcomers. The prices are on point and the staff very friendly. We had Pollo, Mafioso with Palline di mozzarella. With a beer and a glass of wine it was only 34€.

This place is over the top good. Family run with Mom in the background. Fast service and food came out to perfection. Pesto and linguine for me and hubby did the small serving size pizza. Super thin crust that was perfect. Rocket salad to share with really good dressing. Tossed perfectly. We are big foodies and decided to give this place a try. We will be back! Dont miss this spot. You will not be disappointed. Back for night 2. Oh so good!!!!! The tiramisu is the best EVER!

we have visited this place twice during our stay in Chania. We are both pasta lovers (partner is Italian) and if you are too, this is a must go!! very reasonable price, variety of choice, friendly staff and a tiramisu that would resurrect the dead from grave. unfortunately we haven't got a chance to try the pizzas, however to what we have seen they looked amazing!

Leganon serves some of the most delicious and authentic fresh pasta I've ever had. You can truly taste the quality and care that goes into every single dish. The pasta is cooked to a perfect al dente, and the sauces are rich, flavorful, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The charming location in the old town, combined with the warm and friendly service, creates a wonderful dining experience.

Spectacular view. Atmosphere nice and stylish. The food though was not so waw. It didn’t have too much taste and the sizes were extremely small even for a fancy restaurant and the prices very high compared with other restaurants in Chania.

Impressive view, but....The service is awful. For the prices they have the expectations are on the same level. The waiters are not professionals. Have to wait eternity to have the drinks. More than that they forget de drinks multiple times.the food was good but also waited a lot to come and nothing from the house in the waiting time(some olives or bread with olive oil).

The view is unpaid, nice place for sunset. About the food I would say that (they try to be gourmet) but the tasty of the risotto with lemon foam for me war terrible. The worst that I ever tried. So food I would not recommend. Maybe a snack. And the prices are super high. (Because the try to be gourmet). So food from 20€. What is crazy price for chania, maybe if the food would be good, the price is not a problem. But it’s not the case here. But for a nice view and coffe, it Is fine. One time I also tried to get a drink alcohol free and they told me that the drink start from 17:00 o’clock. It was 16:45 hahahah. So I waited and at 17:00 o tried to order. But I got informed that the bartender was not there yet and I should order something else. I left at 18:30 and the bartender was still not there 😂. So I got nothing. What a sad for this kind of place.

I popped in mid afternoon it was really quiet. I had a great seat with a view overlooking Chania. I got the pineapple and aloe ice tea which was really refreshing and the lava cake as they only had a limited menu, the desert was a bit pricey but it was a really large portion and could easily have been shared.

Visited this place on our week trip to Crete. The atmosphere was very nice, and the sunset view was beautiful, however, anything regarding the restaurant food and the service was disappointing at times and atrocious in others. The food is rather expensive for the portion size. I expect to pay a premium at a restaurant of this caliber, yet the portion size was poor. We payed 25€ for this charcuterie board (See photos attached), which is decent for the price but it was expected that it would contain some larger variety of items, like olives, but alas it was as simple as a charcuterie board can be. However, the most atrocious part of the experience was the service. I have never witnessed such bad service in a restaurant. We asked 4 different waiters, a total of 6 times for the spirit menu, waiting for almost 45 minutes after initially sitting down to finally get the list of spirits. PLEASE NOTE, that the restaurant books the table for 2 hours, after which you will probably be asked to vacate the table (We never experienced this and we doubt anyone will as the delays are service side, not client side but nonetheless, we were warned when we sat down). Our issue was that the service is INCREDIBLY SLOW. As exhibited by the spirit menu issue, anything that is ordered (apart from the initial drinks) will arrive around 30-45 minutes after the fact. This suffocates the dining experience as you will fail to enjoy a serene meal due to the massive delays in service, a factor which ultimately led us to review this place a 2/5.

The staff are so unbelievably rude, acting like they don’t want you there. We said to the hostess that we wanted to have a drink whilst we decided on what to eat… I had to ask the staff three times to order our drinks whilst the ladies that I asked continued to stand there and have a conversation. Eventually a waiter came over and just said “yeah…”. We ordered our drinks with little Mr Attitude and at the end he said “are you not eating because this is how it works here, we give you a table inside if you just want drinks” (The restaurant was empty, two tables were occupied). We said that we were going to decide whilst having a drink and he continued being so rude saying “thats not how it works here”, despite the hostess saying it was ok. Anyway… we got up at left after his attitude was so poor, I have never experienced someone being so rude… it seems that the view is the only thing going for this place. Very stuck up staff who act like they don’t want you there. I would not recommend. Happy hols

We have been highly recommended to try Periplous and surprisingly I had never heard about it, and trust me I always make a thorough search for the finest dining and experiences when I travel. I was glad we did not miss it this time as it turned out to be a real gem. Periplous is part of a fabulous minimal luxury hotel, located on a small port just a little further down from the main Chania port. The location is magical and we made sure to arrive an hour before sunset to take it all in. The view is truly something special. As breathtaking as the setting was, what impressed us most was the food. Every plate was perfection, refined and full of flavor, even better than the view itself. When you mix that with the smooth attentive service you are guaranteed an unforgettable culinary experience. Periplous is not just a restaurant, it is a journey worth remembering.

This place has an amazing location right by the water, and at sunset the view is a straight 10/10. The staff was super professional and attentive – you can really feel the attention to detail and great training. We had three courses, all of them very tasty. Starters and desserts were bigger than expected, while the main was a bit smaller, but still plenty – nobody left hungry. We came as a group of ten, and everyone had a fantastic time. Great food, great service, and an unbeatable setting! Price wise we found it good value for money.

We were staying in an airbnb nearby for 3 nights and had dinner here twice! The setting is like a dream! We were seated outside by the sea, and we watched the sun set while enjoying a bottle of wine. The dining experience is, as another reviewer suggested, truly Michelin quality. It is hard to put into words how outstanding the combination of the seaside atmosphere, amazing wine, cocktails and food and extraordinary service. This is a dining experience that is beyond transactional. We visited Chania in early May and the weather was perfect for sunset dining. When we return to Crete this will be our first stop! Bravo Periplous!!

Fine dining with a view, excellent service & all at a reasonable price. Each dish was beautifully executed but the crayfish on bruschetta was amazing. All staff were welcoming and well informed. The only disappointment was that they did not have the passionfruit dessert.

Fabulous food in a beautiful setting with impeccable service. We came at this place by coincidence. How lucky can one be? From the lamb as a starter, through the absolute delicious fresh seafood pasta and a perfectly grilled steak to the artwork of the passion fruit dessert, everything was so fresh and full of flavour. Combined with the amazing location and views we had the best dining experience during our stay in Crete. Service was friendly and responsive. 100% to recommend!

Periplous sits right on the water, offering a front-row seat to a breathtaking sunset, and the restaurant's soundtrack is the gentle waves on its beach. The food is just as magical. We started with a fresh, vibrant salad that perfectly captured the island’s flavors. My wife and I argued as to whether their short rib, paired with straka and a fig jam, was better than Tatiana's short rib in Manhattan, but it's definitely one of the best we’ve had anywhere. For the main course, we chose the white grouper (catch of the day) both grilled and steamed. Each preparation was unique and highlighted the fish's freshness and local ingredients. The cocktail menu was creative and as thoughtful as the dishes themselves. But what truly set Periplous apart was the service. Niko and Angelos provided some of the most sincere, detail-oriented, and warm hospitality we've exerpienced. Their passion and care elevated the evening to something that rivaled, and frankly surpassed, our experiences at some Michelin-starred establishments. We’re convinced it’s only a matter of time before the Michelin Guide takes notice. Until then, it remains one of Crete’s best-kept secrets, and one we’ll be remembering for a long time.

Tremendous restaurant, a bit outside of the city center; but worth the walk! Incredible level of service on an idyllic location. The food was super fresh, and the flavors amazingly balanced. I think this was quality wise one of the best restaurants that we did! We had 2 cocktails, and they paired some wine with our dishes. 1) the bread (9.5/10) - great local dip and fresh baked focaccia 2) fish carpaccio (9.2/10) 3) pappardelle (9.7/10) 4) baked cod (9.1/10) Reservation is highly recommended, it’s worth the walk next to the sea to go from Chania center to the restaurant!

Lovely place at the harbor of Chania. The menu has loads of choices. We first had brunch which was nice for the price. We decidede to come back since they seemed a bit less of a tourist trap compared to other restaurants over there. The sushi was good, not the best I've ever had but pretty decent and lots of choices as well. The waiters were very nice and of course we loved the view

It was very nice, with very nice staff. Nobody was pushy in front trying to get us in which we really liked. We had to wait a bit for sushi but it wasn't unreasonably long. There was some really nice ambient music that wasn't too loud at all. We had the bass and some sushi. It was all really tasty. We also had some cocktails which were great too. Ended up spending about 60€ for two. Had a lovely view of the sea, too.

Deck restaurant made my vacation in Chania special and memorable. All of the restos around are jampacked with Tourists and i am starving after a whole day of touring Balos and other Beaches, Deck managed to prepare a special table for me which is really kind of them. Staff were the friendliest and accommodating. I had the Best chocolate cake and seafood pasta here. I will never forget this Restaurant Cafe. I was treated like a Queen when i was there. I will keep coming back to Chania because of this Restaurant and Staff. I highly recommend Deck and they serve not only the best tasting food but also personalized customer service.Deck wil always be my favorite place to eat in Chania

Great place for drinks and food. Very cosy ambience with very good decoration. Friendly staff and a menu with many options. I had the Chicken Pasta and the Local Cheese (Graviera) with honey. The second was among the best dishes I ever had in my life! The manager Nikos provided us with exceptional Cretan hospitality and offered us amazing service and an unforgettable night! Thank you! A bar on the seafront in the old town. They have sushi here, but I didn't try it. I had a Cosmopolitan, a bit pale, and my husband a beer, and we went on for a walk.

Do not worry if you can not read the menu because they only exist in Greek; the waiter speaks good English. Definitly worth a visit, reasonable prices!

I am lucky enough to have found this place on my very first day in Chania - I ain't changing it for a super fancy restaurant. Six more days to try all that this place offers. Tasty, Authentic and Affordable We were the only tourists in this Place. It is cosy and clean. The Food is Not just super tasty but also very affordable. All main dishes Are below 10€, very tasty and you will be Full for sure. Service is also very nice and taking care of you. If I am ever in chania again I will definitly come here again!

A must go if you are in Chania. I personally went there 4 times during my 4 day trip. It is an institute for traditional cretan cuisine. It is a simple cantine, but the food is real, authentic. You see there local people coming just to eat well. In the morning they serve only soups, lunch time they have great choices.

The pizza was amazing! I don't understand the other reviews. The restaurant looks really cute and the wine is also from the owner made. The waitress was super cute and helpful. And the ocean view was a plus. Will definitely go there again. And we had three different pizzas. And the fried olives with cheese inside and the lemon mayonnaise was delicious! Go there - also not to crowded.

Great vibe, loved the decor and artsy feel. Food was good and offered something slightly different from the usual Greek food. The wine from the local winery was lovely. Can’t say it was the best food we had all week, but the atmosphere made up for it.

Lovely stylish spot a short stroll away from the super busy main port area, which we found very touristy and full of cruise ship groups. The food was a brilliant mix of med-inspired and American dishes, and service was very warm and welcoming. Deffo recommend if you want something a bit more special than the average taverna experience.

The food was way below standard. The fillet steak was really poor quality beef (and it looked completely different from the one shown on their instagram). The steamed muscles tasted great, but we came down with food poisining 36 hours after our meal (and we hadn't eaten out anywhere else recently).

Update: Well decided to give Maiami an other chance this early spring and the experience was very different. The food choices was much better even though some dubious items remains on the menu. The Dakos with the mushrooms this time was exceptional. The Lemon Pasta was well executed also. Gone was the excess salt in everything. So execution had improved a lot. This time there was a DJ performing and his music choices were interesting and eclectic. There was not many people in the restaurant on a week day but there was a mix of Americans obviously there to see Alexandra and some locals that were used to the place for drinks and a good time. While this was out of season there were some expats also but maybe less of the Brexit refugee kind. Overall the staff was again top notch, the cocktails on point and this seasonal selection of wine more to our taste (but that again is subjective). I will leave the original review until I have had the opportunity to do a couple more tests and confirmed that originally we had hit a bad winter day. Original review: The decor and staff are top notch but the food is a major let down. Dishes are an attempt at sophistication but are unfortunately failing miserably. This is so unfortunate as this is the same team as Salis in the harbor. Here the weird condescending attitude is gone and the staff are real professionals with a relaxed yet highly professional attitude and display polished manners and great suggestions. The decor while an attempt at an artsy ambiance feels like it was decorated by a 5 year old (apologies I know it is the owner’s art) but strangely it works in the art deco building with a magnificent bar made of rich colored wood and marble. The contrast with the over-naive art actually works and create a place that one wants to like. The music sound track is eclectic and feels like it comes from a French streaming platform that will remained unnamed and matches the place brilliantly creating an eclectic atmosphere. Over all this is a great place to have a drink but not food. Regarding the food while there is inspiration, the menu feels like it is aimed at middle aged English people who like bland tastes and believe that salt is a spice. Regarding salt the chef must either is stricken by agnosie or fails to taste his creations. Kalas salt must be a sponsor as everything is way too salty. The wine list is the opposite of Salis here, virtually no choice outside of the house wines made by the family of the owner. The result a very limited list with only one white wine and the red ones are not even the best that the family produces unfortunately. Cocktails are inventive and a better choice for drinks. So a lot of potential in a beautiful funky locale but a disappointing failure on food unfortunately, only moneyed English customers will/might be happy. Did not give more than one stars as a restaurant no matter how great it is on the outside is really as great as the food it offers.

Nestled in a peaceful, authentic Cretan setting, this place offers not just a meal, but a true cultural experience. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed – especially by Kostas, who was truly the heart of the place. Friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the food and the tradition behind it – Kostas is simply the best! The food was outstanding. We tried a variety of dishes, and every single one was full of flavor and clearly made with love. The special salad with chicken was a standout – fresh, perfectly balanced, and surprisingly filling. It had the perfect mix of tender chicken, sweet honey, crisp greens and a light dressing that brought it all together. We also highly recommend the slow-cooked lamb and traditional and perfectly executed. The atmosphere was cozy and authentic. To finish, we were treated to a delicious homemade dessert and a glass of raki – a thoughtful touch that made the whole experience even more memorable. If you're in Crete, Parasia Tavern is an absolute must. Incredible food, genuine hospitality, and a special shoutout to Kostas for making our night so memorable. We can't wait to come back! Was recommend to try the place by a family member and it did not disappoint. We had such a tasty chicken salad (you must order!) along with some traditional fried cheese starter. Recommend the moussaka, big portion and very delicious. They were also very generous and gave us ice cream, grapes and raki (honey and normal) free of charge. Suggest finding out when they play live music, as its a lovely atmosphere. Overall a very traditional family run restaurant, and would definitely recommend trying it if you're around!

My family and I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant, returning more than once during our stay. The servers were incredibly friendly, making us feel like longtime friends, and the cozy, casual atmosphere made each visit a joy. The food was delicious—highlights for us included the fried zucchini balls, smoked sausages, meatballs, braised lamb, and chicken schnitzel. While dessert is available to order, each meal ends with a complimentary treat of Raki (the honey version is dangerously good), mini ice cream bars, and slices of chocolate and olive oil cake—a perfectly sweet ending to a great meal. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend a visit!

Our host in Kalyves recommended this place and we went for dinner yesterday. It was superb! We came in early with our two young kids and Kostas and Katherina could not be more accommodating. Service was fast, food was delicious and fresh and we were surprised by the little desserts (on the house!). If you are in the neighborhood, do visit their restaurant. You will not be disappointed! Even our (sometimes disruptive) kids were met with a smile :).

Great food, Cretan delicacies and good prices. The staff was very friendly and recommended many famous dishes such as lamb, ntakos, mushrooms ans staka. Very nice atmosphere, many free sweets to try at the end. One of the best places I’ve ever been in Greece!

The live music added to the lively atmosphere, and the food was OUTSTANDING - fresh, authentic and delicious. Every detail made the evening special, definitely a must visit! I would recommend not risking turning up on a Saturday night without a reservation as you may not get a table.

Food lovely, although some scales are still on the fish. Nothing bad. Dorado/Bream in the oven was really nice, tasty, and cooked well. Service is mostly great, although I waited a while at the end to get the attention of staff so I could pay, it wasn't busy at that point. Probably setting up for others and just missed me.

Pretty good. The food was alright the pizza was a bit bland overtopped but taste wise it was ok. Now the grilled squid was very good but it did need a bit of lemon to make it even better but it’s not needed. Overall experience was very good

Not as good as it used to be. We loved the waiter last year who brought vibrancy to the place. We ate here on our first night and although the food was good there was no atmosphere.

The whole experience was not good. Great location right on the beach and they had an authentic pizza oven which was pretty cool. That being said we ordered a pizza (capriccioso) which contains ham and mushrooms but instead we got a pizza with sausages and it was not good. The service wasn’t bad but just extremely slow. Dont fall for this tourist trap.

We had a delicious diner, great pizza gyros, garlic bread and a salad. The owner entertains the waiting guests with tricks. The rest of the staff is also very kind. A nice terrace seaside. Best pizza I had on the island by far. 👍 great prices and value.

We had amazing lunch in this traditional taverna. The owner sat down with us and tell everthing about what food they have today and discribed that everything was made by her hands, most of product are from local farms and this area. And it was all true. we got a local, best quality food. Appetisers was great. The mains was even greater. Baklava with goat milk ice cream was best !! recommend 100%

The cuisine is authentic and fresh. Homemade raki is the best we ever had. The hostess speaks many languages and takes the time to explain and recommend the dishes. However, we didn't feel welcome upon arrival: no one to say hello and lots of shouting from the cuisine. Maybe just a bad day.

This place is such a lovely hidden gem, right by Kournas Lake. We were staying nearby and wandered in and we came in and bit close to closing but they still served us with a smile. All of the food is homemade with vegetables from the garden, and even for vegetarians, the food is made with thought and care. We highly recommend the Imam eggplant and the zucchini fritters (best we have had in all of Greece!). They also make ice cream and cheese from their farm. The chocolate cake with ice cream melted in our mouths and they topped it off with complimentary infused Raki. Truly amazing spot - if we could give it more than 5 stars we would!

Lovely restaurant situated on the top of the roof of a hotel in the harbor area of Georgioupolis. Wonderful view of the ocean and the stars in the sky. The staff is helpful and friendly with a smile on their lips. They recommended their pizza as a speciality so we went for that even though we're in Greece. The pizzas were really good, so if you want some variety food wise, even though you love Greek food the this place is to recommend.

We have been dining in this restaurant for 7 days as a part of our Half-board menu in the hotel. We were offered 1 salad for 2 persons, 1 appetiser and 2 main dishes (one per each person). This is fully enough for 2 persons as the portions are quite big. The salads were always fresh and the main dishes taste more or less like home cooked. The staff is always hospitable and smiling. The view from the rooftop is indeed amazing and romantic. The dishes that I can highlight are lamb with orzo pasta, kleftiko, octopus salad, shrimps saganaki.

Service here was nice. My boyfriend ordered beef stuff feta cheese and I ordered lamb chops for myself. Then we also ordered the starter of Dolmadakia to share. The lamb chops is really gooood, I must say that it is the best lamb I have had in Crete Island so far. However my boyfriend said his food tasted good but he could notice the gas smell in the beef which is a minus point. Dolmadakia is good as well. Besides that, we ordered white and red house wine. I would recommend you to try the red wine, go with the dry option. So good!

Pretty much the top rated restaurant in town and to be fair to them, not a suprise. Very good, very very good indeed. Friendly, quick, cold beers, great wine and the food is superb. As a Turk, I have to say—these lamb chops are on another level! Also, home salad! We found this place thanks to a tip from another restaurant in Plakias. Real Mama’s family taverna with very tasty food and drinks. Local wine and raki hits lovely. Service is nice and staff are friendly and helpful. They’ll take care of you. Ask for recomendations, don’t analize menu forever. You can have great time with fresh seafood (perfect octopus) or meat (lamb was delicious). Some evenings with greek live music. I love it. Come and try, and come back like me. Everything top. Feel like Cretan inside.

The atmosphere is especially pleasant, with a beautiful garden full of trees that creates a relaxing and enchanting setting. The food was excellent; whether we chose grilled fish or slow-cooked meat in the wood-fired oven, everything was very good. The salads were also delicious. We had the chance to taste some very good wines, which perfectly complemented the meal. The staff were extremely friendly and made us feel the authentic Greek filoxenia from the very first moment.

What to say about Pelagia’s Yard and Kalliroi, the host? Well, I’ve been in Crete for holidays for 3 times: 2019, 2022 and 2025 (yes, every 3 years 😅) and I had lunch at this place every year (2 times in 2019). I knew this place when I visited Lake Kournas in 2019 and loved it already! All the ingredients are from the family farm and all delicious! And the fish is fresh! Kalliroi is a wonderful woman that knows how to receive her guests! All the 4 times I went there she was awesome! Thank you Kalliroi! Wish you the best! P.S.: I’ll probably be back in 2028! 😂

Best restaurant ever in the hole Creta. Farm products and homemade traditional food. Service is wonderful. The garden is perfect for families and couples. The music concerts on thrusdays show you the genuine cretan music. You can also danse The hole familie is cozy, friendly and welcoming We will come back !

We visited twice during our holiday, on our first night and later with friends. Both times, very friendly, lovely food and great service. We had never stopped at Plaka for food before but it is now firmly on our list.

We had already decided to give this place a try but were quickly pounced upon but the staff rounding up custom- this was very unlike the other more laid back tavernas nearby. The bread was quite dry and processed and I suspect charged for. We had dakos, which was fine, and meatballs, which were a bit dry and processed and then an uninspiring moussaka and a single stick of souvlaki. The beer in a boot was amusing and we ordered a carafe or wine and were then given a free one which was generous but we really didn't need it! The service was super quick, in fact too quick as we were then left with a cafare of wine to drink after finishing! We couldn't help but wonder if this is a tactic to keep the restaurant busy... We had been under the impression this was a cheaper place to eat but managed to run up the largest bill we had in Plaka! I suspect there were hidden charges but we didn't have the chance to check. Overall the experience was all a bit of a let down and we quickly stuck to other options in the village that were better service, food and value for money.

Coeliac Traveller - YOU MUST VISIT HERE! We hired a car for half of our holiday and visited here three times. Gluten Free menu, separate fryers and a great choice. Recommend the honey mustard chicken, BBQ ribs and gyros (they have Pita!). They also bring out GF bread, dip & olives.

Called if for lunch mid afternoon. Were a few tables in was greeted on my way in. Was immediately brought some table water and some fresh bread. I ordered the Bresi Mezze I think it was called, sausage and pork with fries in a saucy with peppers. It was really tasty and a large portion. Was even given complimentary cake afterwards and offered Raki. Great service and good food

This is a lovely restaurant run by a very welcoming father/daughter team. We've been coming here for years and my daughter loves the chicken souvlaki, which comes on a dangling skewer. The beef stifado is delicious and the pizzas are good too - you can take away.

Suggest the owners only to have a list of drinks menu and to advise guests at the start how is the process as we sit in the table without knowing we’d be invited to view the fish and choose, pay for each nor had a drinks menu to see types of wine or soft drinks with price. Suggestions to improve but food and atmosphere is great.

Poseidon is a wonderful seafood restaurant - you go up to the ice display, pick your own fish or seafood, and they prepare it fresh for you. The selection was impressive when we visited, with plenty of options that all looked fresh and well-kept. The sides are simple but perfectly matched to the fish — not too many choices, just what’s needed to complete the meal. The food itself was excellent: fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The service was friendly, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant. At the end, they gave us a Magnum-style ice cream bar and a shot of raki on the house, a really nice touch. The only downside is the price, which feels noticeably high(!) even for the quality and freshness you get. Still, it’s a professional, well-run place and worth a visit if you’re looking for top-quality fish in Georgioupoli.

The seafood was fresh. The way they grilled was really nice. We ordered two wine, octopus, shrimp and lion fish. Total was around 70 euro. It might be a little bit confused about ordering so I would like to share it here so it would help you for your experience: you will be guided to your table, wait there and they will come ask you for ordering drinks. There will be no menu at all to the table. After giving your drink, then there will be another staff will come and guide you to inside and show you their fresh seafood selection of the day. You will choose and the price is for per 100gram. After that, you will be back to the table and wait for your food. The minus point I experienced was that when I asked the first waiter for the menu, he was rude and lack of professional when he replied “We do not have menu” and continued asking for our drink order without any suggestion. Otherwise our dinner there was nice.

Excellent service and a lovely atmosphere to dine in amongst the fresh scent of the restaurant’s garden. You’re taken to the kitchen to select your meal, choosing from an array of fresh seafood like sea bass, octopus, prawns and more. Personally liked the grilled octopus as it was fantastic. The standout however, was the tzatziki, which was amazing and had a punch of garlic. They also serve you raki and chocolate ice cream on the house after the meal. Only downside is that it’s a bit far out of the way and driving at night to the location can be dark.

Everything was very delicious, especially the shrimp — the best I’ve had in Crete. The atmosphere was nice, and the waiters were very kind and friendly. The only downside was that the service was quite slow, even though the restaurant wasn’t full but still it’s highly recommended.

Georgioupolis, Apokoronas, Crete 73007 Greece Mythos Taverna is a charming restaurant in the main square in Geogioupolis.  The outside of the Taverna is decorated with flowers and a couple of push bikes. The attention to details is fantastic which adds to the atmosphere. The staff are a delightful, and very friendly. The restaurant opened in 1954 and by just walking in you can understand why it remains so popular. The food is typically Cretan and delicious. We visited twice and choose it for our 39th anniversary, the staff remembered we had told them on our first visit and helped us celebrate. It is without doubt my favorite restaurant in Georgiouspolis and we will defiantly be returning.

This Restaurant was our best experience during our vacation. Food was excellent as was the service. Even when the Restaurant was packed, we didn’t have to wait our food too long. We ate here twice and would have went there more often if we had found it earlier. Fair pricing. After a meal they give you ice cold Raki (dinner time) and/or delicious ice cream bars! Totally recommended!! ❤️👍

The restaurant offers some traditional Greek food, we ordered stifado and moussaka. Both tasted good. Besides that I highly recommend you to try their cocktails menu as well. I have a Blue Lagoon which is really nice as well. Besides that, at the end, they will give a compliment of ice cream to everyone which is a plus for hot summer holiday!

Cozy restaurant on the main square, but with so many trees and plants that you don't feel like you are close to the square. The food was really good and the service even better. Like with many Greek restaurants the portions are large, and the stuffed aubergine starter and the grape leaves were perfect for 2 (that weren't that hungry).

Everything was great and so tasty. Also the atmosphere was fantastic. We recommend!

Smaller bar with a large selection of cocktails. Happy hour daily from 5pm to 7pm. Drinks were good but not mind-blowingly good. Service was play. But overall a good value.

We truly enjoyed our evening here. It was relaxed, we could just play and the drinks were absolutely delicious. The waitress was incredibly kind and welcoming. We would definitely love to come back whenever we are in town again. It was a really wonderful evening – highly recommended!

Great place, we were 9 people ordering drinks, it took an eternity to have them served. 15 minutes to wait between every drink. Bit disappointing, excpecially when you order things like milkshake and they just melt completely before starting to drink. One drink was missing an ingredient, instead of just telling us something was missing they sent a guy to buy some products so again 30minutes to wait without news...

We had an amazing experience at Nostos in Georgioupolis! The food was absolutely delicious, portions were large, and the service was impeccable. We ate here for 4 days in a row and never got bored of the menu – everything was fresh and full of flavor. We came with our 2 kids and they were delighted to receive complimentary ice cream from the house. A bottle of prosecco was only 20€, which shows how fair and reasonable the prices are. This is truly a wonderful family-run restaurant, with excellent value for money. It definitely deserves 5 stars – 100%! Even if you’re not staying in Georgioupolis, it’s worth making the trip just to eat here.

You wouldn't find better restaurant in Rethymno than Nostos! I was here already one year before and it's like to come back home. The best view of the sunset, the castle and the sea. Nice atmosphere, very kind personal, incredibly tasty food, that is quickly served. It's always fool, I recommend you to reserve a table,if you don't the waiting time is not so long. The prices are a bit higher than average, but it's worth it 👌 if you don't know what to choose try shrimps in sauce(starter) with pita, soft and delicate taste, I ordered it for 3 times, my recommendation.

We spent 2 days on their sunbathing beds where we bought some cocktails and a salad etc. This was very nice and they had friendly staff. Final day of our holiday we went for dinner at their restaurant where the food was really bad. We both didn't finish the dish because it was too bad. Went to get some milkshakes and weren't disappointed at all. The waiter was attentive, the setting was alongside the beach with a nice view on the old church and the place was really clean and pleasantfull to be at. Would recommend it if you're searching something to eat or drink when you're in the neighborhood.

Went there twice, once for lunch (and celebrated my husbands birthday) and once for dinner. Really nice restaurant, great views and on Friday was live music and dancing by the staff, and the service extremely professional! The food was delicious and the cocktails divine!

The lunch service on beach side area was fantastic and service excellent especially Elisa, Thoridis and Makis. The menu was extensive and food delicious. Bar staff lovely in evening. Entertainment was ok but felt area was in need of upgrade and lacked a good vibe. Had to look across pool to watch didn’t feel was of quality expected for harmony 5* and if in summer you would be with lots of children from the other corissa hotels as all share that area. Toilets kept clean so well done cleaner. The corissa park area is need of refurbishment.

A fantastic restaurant! Food is absolutely delicious and great value. Service is superb and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere is wonderful, the beautiful trees provide a delightful canopy and the whole place is relaxed with lovely vibe. The portions are generous and there's plenty of choice. One of our favourite restaurants! Definitely recommend.

Wow amazing food Greek salad with mizithra cheese and lamb pie

Visited with my family this evening and what a great find, lovely relaxed atmosphere and amazing food. I had the wood oven roast lamb which just fell apart and was so tasty I could of eaten it all over again! My wife had the sea bass which was beautiful, so fresh and beautifully cooked, daughter had the Greek burgers which again were so tasty. All in all a lovely relaxed evening with some lovely food! Thank you and Yamas.

Last night I was in need of cranberry juice for my wife. Entire village was closed so as a last resort I came here asking for the juice. They did not have it but the gentleman realizing it is for medical purposes told me to wait. He went by motorcycle and came back in a few minutes with the juice. Now that is a service I have not experienced anywhere else in the world. Thank you so very much for what you did. It is very much appreciated. People like you are the reason Crete is the best. I love the people and the entire country. Amazing food and. perfect ambiance. Highly recommended.

My favourite restaurant on the whole island of Crete! A real seafront restaurant, with a beautiful atmosphere. Very kind, and attentive staff, 10/10 service. Generous portions with genuinely delicious and fresh food. The fried calamari is the best I’ve had, soft but crisp at the same time with a great flavour. I received above and beyond for the low prices and I was so impressed. It’s very comfortable to go with a family, there is many toys, a play area and colouring to entertain children, and the kids menu has both basic food and also more adventurous foods for those kids who enjoy to try new things just in a smaller portion. I will visit Crete again just for this restaurant, if you don’t go you are missing out !!

This is a wonderful little gem of a restaurant. The food is sublime, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. In our two weeks holiday in Crete, this is the best restaurant we have found on the whole island. Also, the beachside location (and the free sunbeds) are a great addition to a perfect dining experience. I would highly recommend a visit here. You will not be disappointed!

Really nice food and drinks and sea view. Possible to use the beach chairs when you buy drinks from the restaurant. The restaurant atmosphere is really warm and I recommend mussels risotto. You can overhear the music from the restaurant nearby and have cute cats nearby when you eat. Love this rich experience.

Many dishes are family sized to share. Be sure to ask. Family says the lamb was excellent. Prices very reasonable. The grounds are nicely done, great location.

Lovely restaurant by the sea but unfortunately the dishes we ordered were only average. The fish dishes we ordered were not very fresh and slightly under seasoned. The swordfish souvlaki was overcooked and under seasoned. The fish and chips slightly better. Potentially bad ordering on our part but just sharing our experience. Portions also smaller than what we have experienced in Greece so far.

Nice and chill place to be. The crew here are friendly and arrogant. We asked them nicely to install two child seats to our table. One was installed correctly, but the other one fell off as we tried seating our children. The food was meh. I mean. Some citrus would be great for the chicken and some sauce for fries. Overall meh.

Amazing food. Creative cuisine based on cretan/greek traditional food but with a really nice and modern touch. Definitely one of the best places. Earns a spot in my top 5 on Crete so far. Amazing spot for a romantic dinner! The staff is very welcoming and the food and drinks are amazing. The view is what makes this place so special. The sun bounces off the sea when it sets at the end of the day and makes for a beautiful panorama.

Is it possible to give higher ratings? It should be for Kritiko. We had the most amazing meal there. My son polished off the mussels, my tuna carpaccio was incredible and the avocado salad was so fresh. Portions were so generous and there was nothing house about the house wine . The staff were so friendly and the view , amazing. We WILL go back

One of the most authentic Greek tavernas in Kalyves right by the sea. They offer tremendous value on all their dishes but beware they are very large. We visited a number of times in our recent trip and was always happy with everything. I would recommend the lamb chops as outstanding. Definitely with a visit it more.

We were staying in Kalyves and were lucky to have dinner at this authentic restaurant , for a chance to experience the local vibes in the area . The food was a bit late but they were funny about it and it was delicious so it was all fine at the end . The people are so generous and friendly .

We had a great dinner by the water in Kalyves, at Mythos. Food was excellent,tasteful and plentiful! A true Greek food experience and that it is coming from a Greek-American that missed true traditional Greek Cuisine. The lamb in the oven with potatoes was screaming 😱. It's definitely a must if you are in Kalyves.

Great fresh fish and slow cooked pork. If they have their pork on the menu, it’s a must have. Food takes a bit to arrive so sit and enjoy the sunset with a cold beer. We did have some cat company but they were friendly and kep a distance. Really good value for money. We spent about 80 euros for 4 people incl starters and drinks.

Nice restaurant and excellent staff! Everyone was so welcoming and nice to us. Food is good. One BIG minus was the live music and cats… music is WAY too loud and you cant really talk to your table, cats jumping on your plates as well.

We were greeted by a smiling young man, as if we had known each other for 100 years. They immediately found a suitable table for four. The first "shock" - the prices, which are the best we have encountered in Kalyves. Then came the second "shock" - the huge size of the portions! But everything is so delicious that you can't leave it. The young people are always around and show individual attitude to the guests. The only remark is that no music is played at the tables by the sea. And yet this is the best place to eat that we visited in Kalyves!

We ate at the restaurant. The waiters where not really kind and friendly. The food was half warm and did not taste so well, 3 persons even got stomace problems afterwards. The only somewhat nice thing is the location.

We came for breakfast and it was delightful. The spinach and feta omelette and the spinach pie were particular hits. So delicious, so fresh, and the view cannot be beat. We could stay here all day..and we might.

This was our favorite place in all of Kalyves to hang out after a day of sightseeing or just laying on the beach. Manolis is a wonderfully warm host with a heavy pour when it comes to the cocktails. We ate here on our final day we had such affection for the place and people, and the food was wonderful also with HUGE portions!! If you're staying in Kalyves or looking for somewhere to stop off along the road East out of Chania, deffo take a break here.

We had an excellent experience at Gyropolis! The pita gyros was simply outstanding – the bread was soft and fresh, the filling delicious, and the meat perfectly cooked. Everything tasted authentic and full of flavor. The staff was very kind, making sure to accommodate our needs with a smile. On top of that, the value for money is excellent – definitely one of the best spots to enjoy a proper gyros. Highly recommended!

Nothing so special. I was expecting more delicious Kreta taste and food. Long time to wait after the order and was not so busy. The price was good.

Tourist trap. Vegetarian pita has one slice of tomato divided half, two slices of onion and a touch of cabbage. Additional feta costs 2 Euro, feta slice 2 cm/2 cm…. Do not recommend. We live in Crete and this place is typical touristy trap…

Why so much waiting for 4 gyros souvlaki!!!!!! Firstly we ordered for starters just potatoes with cheese and bacon and then 3 souvlaki with chicken gyros. And now the funny part: the potatoes came after 45 minutes THEY ARE JUST POTATOES WITH CHEESE otherwise they are decent but the thing that make us angry is that we had to wait 1:30 hours for four souvlaki and that’s why the 2 stars. The food was well. The staff was very kind but the only bad is that they didn’t tell us the time that will have to wait. To sum up you can’t run a FAST FOOD restaurant with just one guy to make souvlaki and 4 waiters.Also for a reason that I can’t understand they serve first the take away and then the guys that dine in.

Get here in time. Or be ready to stand in line to get in. The place is quite small and always busy and crowded. The food was great and drinks (mythos, what else? :D ) were also good. We had gyros in pita and gyros on plate. All good! Raki for desert? You know it.

We took take away as the wait would have been very long. I am not sure why this Restaurant is so popular. First of all they totally forgot our order and only when we asked about it, they prepared it. Service is not very friendly. I consider myself as a seasoned Greece traveler and gyros they serve here were probably the worse gyros we ever had. They stuff their gyro with punch of fries inside which is not the way they originally serve it. Flavor was mediocre and there was only few drops of tsaziki. Very disappointed. Not worth all the commotion. If you love their gyros, I bet you have not tasted the REAL ones yet. I gladly shared my ”gyro” with a very hungry homeless kitten.

Fantastic friendly service. Great location for people watching.. had the bacon cheese burger cooked medium! Have to say, it really is one of the best tasting burgers I've ever had! And I've had a lot of burgers in my life, from restaurants, burger bars, fast food etc but this burger really tops my list!! Highly recommend!! Enjoy!!

Absolutely amazing pizza's and garlic bread. We had the Margarita (for the kids) and the Simon's special for us - so tasty and beautifully presented. Manolis was superb and attentive, made sure the kids were looked after too - thank you! Highly recommend this place and they do delivery too. The portions are big, have enough left over for breakfast pizza.

We visited Simon’s on numerous occasions during our stay, the food is excellent, staff are wonderful, very friendly. We returned because the food was so good. The portion sizes are very good, we’ve had pizza, steak, Pork, pastas, risotto, burgers (these are no ordinary burgers) these are exceptional. You will find Simon’s on the Main Street near the Square and the church.

A magnificent place to go! The food was wonderful and the service was fantastic. The atmosphere felt cozy and we were treated to a special surprise at the end of our meal from Manouil who took us across the road to the winery!

Earlier this spring, we were invited by friends to a small, charming restaurant in Gavalachori, a village in Chania, Crete 🇬🇷. The place is owned by Monica van den Bosch. The menu was full of tempting dishes, all cooked beautifully. But the star for me was the beetroot salad. Normally, I don’t even like beetroot, but after trying it at Monica’s, I was hooked. I couldn’t recreate it at home no matter how hard I tried, so I went back again in the summer just to taste it. Last night a first visit at Monica's Tavern. We've been coming to this area for years and had heard a lot about it but had never been. What a great atmosphere in the backyard and delicious food. The slow-cooked lamb was excellent. Very friendly people too.

Fabulous place for lunch. We discovered it while exploring the countryside from Chania. Loved it so much we came back today! Lovely garden with a tree that grows walnuts! Food is delicious and service so friendly. Cannot fault it. It is worth the drive.

Vegan to omnivore, you will be delighted!! We (four) shared 10 plates, each one delicious. Great beer and wine too. An excellent menu will spoil you for choice. Terrific service from cheerful and experienced staff. We will return soon. 😉

Wonderful rustic building with plenty of greenery, and cat's! :) They're adorable. Wonderful food all around at a good price and a real good value for you're money, I had the shrimp Saganski and it was incredible. The Service was wonderful and the waitress who served the table was very polite and nice :).

Lovely tavern, that albeit quite touristy still has a local flair. The food was excellent: we had the feta saganaki, grilled shrimps, and lamb chops (which were great because lacked a bit of meat). Service was kind and efficient, led by a family owner.

We had beef stifado and aranaki lemon. Portions were small, and the stifado had a strange buttery taste that didn’t belong – maybe added late or slightly off. I’m a light eater, but I left hungry. Having eaten at many places in Crete, this was among the worst. Sadly, I cannot recommend it – there are far better options in Georgioupolis.

I ordered tarama, but got hummus instead. Good hummus, but still, not what I ordered. The waiter recommended great beer, so a star for that. But when I finished the beer, he didn’t care to come and offer next or at least take away the glass.

Worth the short walk from downtown Georgioupolis. Great restaurant right on the water with good service and nice fish dishes. Also lots of non-fish dishes. Grab a table with the water only feet away and enjoy views of the coastline, boat traffic, and St Nicholas chapel. We had the spicy feta appetizer, which was very tasty, and the mixed fish platter with vegetables which was good too. There is just something special about eating while listening to the waves. And if you are lucky, you get to see a dice snake or two looking for a nighttime snack in the water.

Beautiful place. I just stopped in for some fries and a drink but I will be going back for a proper dinner. The staff and service where absolutely brilliant it's beautifully located with a spectacular view. Came back for some food and it was beautiful! Greece is a bit difficult for vegans.. but the herb pies were beautiful fresh bread and salads 🙌🏽🙏🏽

Visited last night . Lovely location with prices a bit higher as you would expect 125€ for 2adults 3kids. 1starter,salad,5mains. Service very friendly. Food unfortunately nothing special and not as good as eaten elsewhere. I had mixed fish plate which looked great but everything was underseasoned, the dorada was still a bit gelatinous and undercooked, dry sardines, undercooked rice. Oh’s mussels were small and not particularly good. Kids pasta was good.

If I could, I would give this place 6 stars! We dined here for a whole week, and every single meal was pure heaven. The food is bursting with flavour — the rooster in wine sauce with pasta has to be my absolute favourite, followed closely by the delicious meat platter and traditional moussaka. The service is exceptional — always with a genuine smile and warm hospitality that makes you feel truly welcome. They serve guests from all over the world, yet everyone is treated like family. You can really feel the love and care in both the food and the atmosphere. An unforgettable experience — highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Food was microwaved and cold in the middle. Wine was bad. Terrible service. Edit: Adding a photo to prove this review is genuine. We ate out every night for 10 days and this was by far the worst.

Got pasta with pork with cream. Mushrooms were from a tin, pasta over cooked the onion was not cooked. Taste not great. Pasta with minced meat was spicy while we were not warned and not tasty, pasta was over cooked again. Regarding the burgers we definitely had much much better ones. White wine was nothing much. Very very moderate quality food. Will definitely not visit again. NOT recommended.

The best food on our entire vacation, great service and friendly, welcoming staff. They treat you with bottle of water and some meze with bread before meal, and after meal, they serves free desert and aperitif with the bill. Prices are very reasonable and portions are big. Recommended 100/10!

This place is so authentic, it that it should be illegal, lol! Seriously, this tavern is nestled in the foothills with an amazingly authentic Greek cuisine and service that is equally matched. A must while visiting the Rethymno area. Don't miss a chance to visit this place!
