Bodegas Muga is a family-owned business that offers Segway tours of nearby vineyards, wine tasting courses, and a wine store. It is part of the historic wines from the Station Quarter in Haro, where the largest concentration of hundred-year-old wine cellars in the world can be found.
Visited 3 wineries in the area and Bodegas Muga was by far my favorite! I opted for a tasting only, which I shared with a friend at our server's suggestion. She was very attentive and excellent with explaining the different wines included in the tasting. I was pleasantly surprised by the rosé (I'm not usually a fan) and would have loved to buy a bottle to take home, but unfortunately, it was sold out.

Enjoyable tour. Lots of emphasis on the oak and barrel production which was interesting and made it different to other tour/tastings I've been on. The winery interior and tasting room is very nice and has a luxurious feel. Wines are quite dense with lots of French oak in their production. Our tour guide was knowledgeable but quite direct at times.
Ed C — Google review
A fabulous and proper introduction to Rioja wines was given by Carmen at the wine tasting. She was absolutely fantastic: her knowledge, charm and vitality was evident throughout. The tour itself was very thorough. At the end, we tasted one white and 2 different reds which were absolutely delicious! At the end, they gave us the wine glasses as souvenirs. I would highly recommend the tour here and if you’re lucky enough- ask for Carmen! An experience not to be missed!

This is one magnificent place to visit . It’s well worth doing the tours . Very interesting place . Beautiful part of the world. Best of all the wines are fantastic.

Such a perfect wine tour! 10am English speaking slot (02/05/25). Really cool seeing the full winery process for the first time, at such an esteemed winery. The tasting was in a beautiful, light space and was great to chat to the other guests on the tour too. Cherry on top was we got to keep the glass we did our tastings in. Thank you!

Outstanding wines in a lovely setting, the food was good and a great atmosphere

This is a copy of an email I sent the Muga Family. We would highly recommend the Bodegas Muga. Dear Muga Family We have just spent a wonderful lunch time tasting wines and eating food at your courtyard restaurant. We even met one of the Muga family. See attached photos. She was most welcoming and although we couldn’t speak Spanish we very much enjoyed meeting her. Please pass on our thanks and gratitude to her for her hospitality. Thank you once again for the experience of good wine, fine food and wonderful hospitality. Best Wishes David, Pat & Meg the dog

What a fantastic place to visit! We have visited quite a few vineyards in France and England but never a Bodega in Spain. We were very lucky to choose Bodegas Muga. The tour was really interesting, as Muga is the only one to make it's own barrels. Seeing how the barrels are made was an added bonus, also the selection of Oak trees and the buying process was very interesting. Sasha, our guide was incredible. She knew so much about the wine making process, the cooperage and the wines. Good luck in your WAST exams!! Manuela, in the shop was also very helpful. I am now looking forward to the many bottles of wine I have in Bertha, our motorhome!!! We will definitely be back. If you only have time for one visit then choose Muga!!!

Bodegas Gómez Cruzado, established in 1886, has seen various owners but is now under the guidance of passionate individuals who have propelled it to prominence. It's a must-visit winery in Rioja, offering per-glass and wine-only tastings. Situated conveniently close to Haro, this charming winery welcomes visitors with exceptional personal service and a long history reflected in its personality-filled wines. The small yet delightful setting provides a warm atmosphere for tasting sessions.
Gómez Cruzado is a boutique winery in Haro, Spain, dedicated to producing wines in the classic Riojan style. With a strong commitment to quality and detail, they carefully cultivate old bush-trained vines to craft wines that highlight freshness, balance, elegance, and typicity. We had a wonderful time at Gómez Cruzado during our tasting—sampling some of their well-known wines along with their cold-pressed olive oil. While the wines were, as expected, beautiful, the olive oil was truly exceptional. The team was warm, welcoming, and took the time to share the history of the winery and explain the details behind their wines, making the experience all the more memorable.
M G — Google review
A lovely wine tasting experience! Very unassuming from the outside (some building works going on) but inside a stunning space, surrounded by barrels, with some exceptional wines to taste! Very attentive and friendly service. Only €20 a head and it was private (my partner and I). Thank you!
Dan P — Google review
A superb tour, with an excellent and knowledgeable guide. The tour took us right through the bodega and we could see people at work at close quarters. We booked the Premium tasting and the tasting room for that has a tremendous view over the bodega. The wines were diverse and excellent and we were given just enough information and background. Then, we were allowed a generous amount of time to enjoy and discuss the wines. This is wine tourism exactly how it should be.
Gary M — Google review
Such a fantastic tour run by the very charismatic Esti! Great explanation of the wine and the history of the winery. Very much enjoyed her conversation and explanation of the wines. Would love to come back one day. Also fantastic wine. Cheers!
Nathan — Google review
We had a great Tour and Tasting with the Gomez Cruzado Team. This winery stands out in terms of passion, winestyle and wine philosophy: Rioja 4.0. You can do both: Be serious about your history and the traditions, but innovate and set new bars in terms of elegance, terroir and focus on the essentials. It was really outstanding.
Harald R — Google review
Within a walking distance from the town center, this winery tour was a pleasure. Super informative, well presented by a very passionate knowledgable guide. The wine is to die for. We were so happy to have chosen this particular family run establishment over a larger more commercial one. Look no further.

We had a fantastic visit to Bodegas Gómez Cruzado where we toured their winemaking facility and tasted several of their best wines. Our guide Silvia was extremely knowledgeable and talked us through both the history of the bodega and the winemaking process. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Haro!
Sam F — Google review
A comprehensive and fun education about wines from this beautiful region. Sylvia was so knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about the art of wine making. She was very generous with a great sense of humour. And the wines were really special! Highly recommend this tour and the wines.

Bodegas La Rioja Alta, S.A. is a traditional winemaker with a sophisticated atmosphere that offers guided tours and product tastings. The historic wines from this establishment, along with other renowned wineries, will be featured at the Cata del Barrio de la Estacion 2024 event in Haro. This event will bring together twelve emblematic wines from the Station Quarter to be paired with culinary creations from Michelin-starred establishments.
Sarah was warm and welcoming as were the other staff even though I arrived barely 45 mins before the closing time on Sundays, 3pm. Amazing 1997, 2004 of course and the latest 2015 vintages of the 904 Gran Reserva. The half plate of Jamon at 13 Eur was delicious too. What an experience and yes.. they do well back vintages too unlike other bodegas. Just ask! Thanks to Guillermo and Sarah for this experience.
Julian S — Google review
Exceptional tour and beautiful bodegas! Sarah was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide who you can tell is really passionate about wines. Would definitely recommend to take the tour and learn about the impressive history of this winery.

Good wine on offer but hard to get attention at the wine bar. We had two glasses of Rioja at the wine bar. Staff were nice enough when serving but had to work to get their attention while they were snacking in the back aisle.
Ed C — Google review
Lovely, history-filled bodega. We did a special wine tasting where they poured older vintages of their 904 and Arana wines (2015, 2016 and 1997). A real treat. My only feedback would be for the wine tour guide to be a bit more mindful of senior citizens on the tour and check in to see if they are doing alright walking along the many stairs and steps - we were often falling behind with my grandma and it would have been nice to perhaps find a shortcut for her or slow down the overall walking pace of the group just a bit so that we weren't lost all the time trying to keep up. 🙏
Dilianna B — Google review
There is a reception and shopping section in an authentic and historical building and a wine bar and sales section in the opposite building "El Garage Del Club De Cosecheros", garden was attentive and enjoyable. We had "Discovering La Rioja Alta Tour". Our guide was diligent and knowledgeable, but he seemed a little nervous at the beginning. After a nice tour, before starting the tasting, my request for water was met with surprise, she took care of it. But she couldn't find it. All the wines except Gran Reserva 904 1997 were of decent quality. The age of this wine deserves respect, but the fruit had abandoned it years ago. Vina Alberdi was very fruity and had good balance, Vina Ardanza and Vina Arana were perfect examples of Rioja. As I couldn't understand 904 and would like to meet with 890 we passed to wine bar building. Gran reserva 904 2015 was amazing and has great capacity for aging. Gran reserva 890 2010 was also complex and elegant, long aging capacity but little pricy. It was a very satisfied visit and I recommend everyone.
Atilla T — Google review
Haro, the region in La Rioja is full of wineries. We paid €20 for the experience and got really good insights. 3 glasses of wine is included. And at the end you can have 1 extra glass of your favorite wine. 🍷
Rana — Google review
A nice place to visit and enjoy some glass of wines! You can find wine by glass in the bar, and also the bottled wine which sold there. You can taste all portfolio of La Rioja Alta and the wines from same Company Group like Aster, and also buy some bottles with good price.
Matteo F — Google review
Nice visit. Beautiful property with some quality wines. Not buzzed enough to get the 57 euro glass to see how much better it is than the 904 reserva...

CVNE, also known as Compania Vinicola del Norte de Espana, is a historic winery in Haro, founded in 1879 by two pioneering brothers. The winery has expanded over the years and offers tours for visitors to explore its history and production process. CVNE stands out as one of the oldest wineries in the region and provides an intimate wine tasting experience with a cellar showcasing ancient bottles of Rioja dating back to 1888.
CVNE was our final stop on our wine crawl - partly because it was one of the only bodegas in the area which didn't close 'early'. It's a lovely bodega with friendly staff and we tried a couple of their popular wines which were great.
Michael J — Google review
We did the Imperial tour and it was great. Very knowledgeable and pleasant guide who explained all about the origins of the company, the different wines and the wine making process. Great tour of the cellars including what they call the cemetery where the oldest wines are kept. The tour finished with a very relaxed and tutored wine tasting accompanied by cheese and ham. Great experience and highly recommended. We finished off our visit with some purchases in the shop.
John S — Google review
The scenery is very beautiful. The tour we did felt a bit hasty especially at the end. We did the 3pm tour and had 10-15min for the tasting, which was not what I expected. The tour was focused on the Imperial witch is their best one, the other ones where “bad” and he didn’t spend any attention to it. It seemed to me that it was cheap and not tasty wine. What was surprising is that we drank three wines and none of them was the Imperial. This was in my opinion very disappointing since the whole tour was focused on this wine. After the tasting we received 2min to drink up and leave since they closed at 4.30pm. Even the bar outside was closed… No opportunity at all to try the great (or so they say) Impereal. Still 3 stars for the explanation, scenery and exposition we could visit.
Siebe V — Google review
We visited the wine bar / store where they have a bigger variety of wines than some others, given they have multiple brands from Rioja as well as other regions of Spain. People were so helpful and knowledgeable. It’s open a little later (until 5p) than most of the others in the Barrio. They are building a larger wine bar to be open in 2025.
Patricia W — Google review
We had a fabulous Imperial tour and were very well looked after by Senor Peru from Bilbao. Only 4 of us were on it so it really felt intimate and informative. All questions were answered and the tasting was superb and not rushed. Felt like we were VIP’s. Definitely highly recommended.
Ranjan D — Google review
We loved this winery! Ekaitz was the perfect guide, he had great knowledge and his humour translated well. The tour felt very authentic and it was wild to see how old some of their wines are. Would 100% recommend

R. López de Heredia - Viña Tondonia is a historic winery dating back to the 1800s, renowned for aging its wines in Bordeaux oak barrels. The founder, Don Rafael Lopez de Heredia y Landeta, was captivated by the Rioja region and established the winery in Haro. Today, it is one of several esteemed wineries in the area.
An emblematic Rioja producer, one of the few with its own copperage on premises and extensive use of oak throughout the production process. Their hospitality is world class, they showed us everything, they have nothing to hide and much to be proud of. The bottle ageing area is particularly unique to experience. I was also lucky to be able to buy in their store a case that included a bottle of their prized Rose Gran Reserva, a very unusual but great wine that can only be made with top quality grapes and excellent work at the winery.
Antonio S — Google review
Very special winery with excellent wine. Make sure to buy a bottle of wine and sit in the garden to enjoy wine with cheese and other tapas . You get water tapas and other free when you buy a bottle of wine
Jihad E — Google review
Amazing hospitality and experience at the bodgeas! We were in the area for wine tasting during the weekend and stopped by this place. A truly amazing experience and a key highlight of our day. Delicious reserva wine that can easily qualify as a gran reserva! After tasting a few bottles at the shop, the friendly staff, offered to show us their facilities behind the scenes with no reservations! Learnt alot from the quick visit and truly a bodegas that one needs to tour and experience their traditional family heritage of making wine.
Choo M — Google review
Fabulous Wine & visit We enjoyed visiting Vina Tondonia and attending some wine tasting. The place is beautiful and feel very unique. Highly recommended to all.
Paul V — Google review
A nice place to visit and try some top quality Rioja wines. Raphael Lopez de Heredia is known for its Tondonia vineyard, and most of the wine lovers use “tondonia” to redder to this winemaker. We visited the winemaking area and barrel aging places, and also tasted 2 wines. I love the wines from R. Lopez for many years, and this time I got the opportunity!
Matteo F — Google review
This was a slight disappointment fir me and other attending the same tour I met later at another bodega. The tour was very informative though for the price of 40 euros it's expected to be high quality. We visited all facilities involved in wine making process. The wine tasting was a huge disappointment. We were able to taste only three wines if which the first was nothing to tell about. Other reservas were nice. We didn't have a chance to taste their Gran Reserva. We weren't handed a bottle of their wine after the tour and the wine tasting. I afterwards found out that it should have picked up after tasting from the other location. The guide didn't mention about it at all. People left without the bottle.
Jarkko M — Google review
This winery has a really nice setting. A very stylish, modern tasting room and a very nice area to sit outside, with a very relaxing feel to it. Since we were travelling with our Bulldog we took a seat outside and got some wine (with free nibbles). The wine was fine, got the typical Rioja flavour. But - compared to some other Bodegas we've visited - lacked a special something. Did not wow us enough. Prise-wise their wines are a good deal, but then there's so much competition around here. And considering that we just found the wine too average and quite light on the palate without any long-lasting flavours. But the setting is really nice, staff helpful and friendly. Still a fine Bodega to take a seat outside and enjoy a glass or two.
Alex H — Google review
We had a fantastic tour filled with really interesting tidbits about the region and the family’s history in wine. Always lovely to see winemakers that really stick to their roots and keep the family business thriving!

Bodegas Bilbaínas, located in the historic Barrio de la Estacion in Haro, is a traditional wine-making venue offering tours and tastings. It is known for its oak-barrel storage and is the largest owner of vineyards in the municipality. Visitors can enjoy a relaxed tasting experience amidst beautiful surroundings both inside and out. The winery also offers unique varietals and sparkling wine dating back to 1913.
We stumbled upon this place - literally and figuratively - after visiting some nearby bodegas, and we’re so glad we did! We enjoyed a wine flight with a chocolate pairing, which was a fantastic experience. The wines were delicious and varied, including a unique sparkling wine made from red grapes. The lady at reception was lovely, warm, and welcoming, which made the visit even better. I’d definitely recommend adding this spot to your itinerary!

We had a very nice wine tasting with the help of Christina. Very kind service and she explained each wine in very good English. You can get small tasting sized servings from very wide range of wines. Best tasting in Haro so far.

One of the best winery tours that we have ever done. Our guide, Lola, was an absolute pro, giving detailed explanations about the history of the vineyard and area. The small group (only 10 people) gave her time to patiently answer all of our questions. The complex, with its labyrinthine warren of tunnels and cellars, is an eye-opener. And of course the wines - particularly the Viña Pomal - are delicious. Highly recommended!
Alun E — Google review
We learned SO much about the history and production of Rioja wine. Three 'reserve' tastings too. All for only 25 euros! Thanks to our informative guide Cristina.

Just had an amazing wine tasting experience at Bodegas Bilbaínas in Haro! The whole visit was fantastic, but what truly elevated it was our guide, Naiara. Her knowledge of the winery's history and passion for the wines were infectious. Naiara's explanations were clear and engaging, making even the most complex aspects of winemaking interesting. She was also incredibly friendly and approachable, making the tasting a fun and informative experience. The wines themselves were delicious, of course. Highly recommend a visit to Bodegas Bilbaínas, especially if you're lucky enough to have Naiara as your guide!

Nayera gave an outstanding tour! Clearly she’s very passionate about wine. Not only did she give me a deeper appreciation of Rioja wine, she taught me many new things. If you want a small intimate tour, this is the place.

Bodegas Roda is a renowned winery in Haro, offering a boutique experience with its great wines and beautiful grounds. The vineyard provides wine tastings within the town, but visitors can also book luxurious tours for a guided experience in the vineyard, culminating in a visit to an underground cellar where some of their wine is stored.
We had a lovely tour at RODA! Visiting in late February during the off-season meant we were the only ones on the tour, so we essentially had a private experience just for the two of us - it was fabulous. We learned all about the bodega’s history and winemaking process, and the tour ended with an incredible wine and chocolate tasting. I would never have thought to pair the two, but it was a delicious surprise. If you're planning a trip to Rioja, I’d highly recommend adding RODA to your itinerary!
Michael J — Google review
The visit was amazing. I highly recommend visiting it and also trying the wines paired with chocolate. It was amazing. I'll absolutely be back. :) Vega and Lucia were our amazing guides. And the ship wine <3. It's a win - win situation
Maria M — Google review
Lucia is a wonderful guide for our Ebro Balcony private tour experience. She is not only knowledgeable but also her bubbly and friendly personalities really made the entire two hours enjoyable and fun. The entire tour was very educational and compared to many other winery tours we did, it was one of the most memorable. We got to see and understand the whole process from farm to bottle and it ended with the most romantic picnic lunch by the Ebro river complete with local delicacies and wine tasting of Roda's 5 best wines. The entire experience was magical and I would highly recommend it. Lucia, if you ever visit the US, please ping us.
Carl W — Google review
It was absolutely by chance that we went to Roda, they were one of the few vineyards that had tours in English on a Saturday, but we are so glad they did! We had the best time. Our guide Lucia was amazing, very friendly and knowledgeable. She was able to answer all our questions. A thorough tour through all the different aspects of the wine making process. We learnt so much and thoroughly enjoyed the tasting with chocolates at the end - of course!! 10/10 would recommend
Sara M — Google review
I was looking forward to visiting this winery, having previously enjoyed their wine from a local shop. Unfortunately, their customer service fell far short of expectations. Due to a last-minute airline cancellation—completely outside my control—I was unable to attend the prepaid tour. I reached out as soon as I could, but the winery refused to offer a refund or credit, citing their strict cancellation policy. Every other business on our itinerary showed understanding and made accommodations. This winery chose inflexibility over empathy. It’s disheartening to see such disregard for genuine circumstances. If their business model depends on keeping money from guests who never arrive, it raises questions about their priorities. I won’t be recommending a visit, and I won’t be purchasing their wine again. Hospitality should extend beyond the tasting room—and this experience showed none.
D F — Google review
Excellent tour, very informative and excellent wines, thoroughly enjoyable
Robbie L — Google review
Although somehow pricey, the tour consisted of showing all parts of their wine making process. I've especially liked their practices revolving around sustainability. The 12-meter underground wine barrel-aging tunnel was a surprise, more so the direct exit to Ebro river. Both their wine and EVOO tastings were nice.

A Wonderful Visit to Ramón Bilbao Winery Our visit to Ramón Bilbao was a memorable experience from start to finish. It was fascinating to explore the winery’s rich history and see firsthand how tradition and innovation come together in their wine-making process. The wine shop offered a fantastic selection, and we were recommended the Mirto, which turned out to be an exceptional choice—elegant, complex, and beautifully balanced. A very special thank you to Zaida, whose warmth, attention to detail, and excellent service made our visit even more enjoyable. Her genuine kindness and professionalism truly stood out and added a personal touch to the experience. Highly recommended for any wine lover visiting the region.

Choices are plentiful at the Ramón Bilbao winery in Haro! There is a large wine shop with an area for tasting. Added bonus: tours are possible and there’s even a restaurant with wine bar. Recommend reserving in advance. Back to the wine shop, the selection of wines and other spirits is vast.

We got there a bit late with an hour or so to go. But Naomi was so welcoming and got us into tasting fairly quickly. We ended tasting 5 different wines. Her hospitality was second to none. We also noticed how gorgeous their bottles were and Naomi decided to let us take an empty one as souvenir. We had an amazing experience simply for how Naomi delivered an excellent customer service. Cheers to Naomi.

Giuseppe must be mentioned. Truly the most knowledgeable, gregarious, and warm-hearted bar-man we ever encountered in all our travels. He puts true heart, soul, and passion into giving the guests of Ramon Bilbao the best wine tasting experience. The wines were excellent 🥇 The winery tastefully decorated 🍷 A truly must-visit winery, especially with Giuseppe at your service.

Bodegas Ramón Bilbao has great wine, but this is not the only reason to go. The friendly service and the wonderful food paired with wine made this an excellent four hour experience. Noemi and Chenoa, a mother and daughter team who are working in the bar and restaurant, were amazing. The menu el legado del tiempo is the meal in the photos.

What a fantastic winery! We enjoyed a fantastic tour of the incredible Ramon Bilbao winery in Haro. Our guide, Victor, was very knowledgeable, friendly and fun and it made for a really enjoyable and educational two hours. The winery is very impressive and everything is presented immaculately. The shop offers all the wines individually as well as some fantastic presentation packages, accessories and glassware. The winery tour was fascinating and even included a short film documenting the harvesting process in a small cinema room. The tasting room was just perfect to enjoy sampling the wonderful rioja wines with the added benefit of Victor's explanation and experience. We had lunch afterwards in the fantastic restaurant where we enjoyed an excellent selection of great food accompanied, of course, by more fantastic RB wines. We thoroughly recommend this winery and the whole experience it offers.

Located in the heart of the Old Quarter, Iglesia de Santo Tomás is a significant architectural landmark with its striking wedding-cake tower and Plateresque south portal. The 16th-century church boasts a Gothic interior and a spectacular octagonal bell tower topped by a dome with a lantern. The main doorway features intricate scenes of Calvary, Apostles imagery, and Velasco shields in Plateresque style.
With a euro entry fee/donation, you get a pamphlet in English, French or German explaining the history of this stunning church. We were lucky it was opened when we were passing through Haro for the night.

There was a paper saying it would open from 5pm, and many tourists were wasting time, but it never opened. Irresponsible tourism. No point in making a pilgrimage.

As a cathedral dedicated to Saint Thomas, on the left side of the tympanum is a sculpture of Thomas doubting the resurrection of Jesus, and on the right side is a sculpture of the resurrection of Jesus. Above that is a sculpture of Jesus being whipped, being crowned, being dragged by the governor, and carrying the cross. It is a pity that the door is closed, so I cannot go in. Had a great wine tour with Roberto. We saw three wineries and received a lot of interesting facts about the area, the different wineries, their history all delivered in an engaging style. Roberto is obviously passionate about the region and the industry, along with the challenges they face in the next few years. We had a small intimate group and Roberto was incredibly generous with his time. We saw all aspects of the industry from making barrels, the linked cellars and the preservation of the old with the new additions. Definitely recommend if you have a few days here to do this tour!!

The wine tour at Bodegas Manzanos Haro in the Rioja region is highly recommended. The knowledgeable guide, Ruben, shares valuable local wine insights throughout the well-designed 2-hour tour. Visitors get to explore the different stages of the oldest winery in Haro. They have an opportunity to taste five wines from the winery, including one white and four red varieties, which are not only delicious but also reasonably priced considering their quality.
Excellent tour and tasting! Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate. The great view of Haro from the top of the building was an unexpected bonus.

Penelope was a fantastic guide. Her years of studies and experience really showed off during the tour and the tasting. The tour started with a small general introduction of the wine region Rioja and Haro. After a 2 minute walk we entered the old winery, with all its interesting smells, numerous of ageing bottles and barrel racks. Very interesting to hear about the history and how the wine is created nowadays.

Today we visited Bodegas Manzanos in Haro. We had a wonderful experience. Normally we would visit in group but because this group couldn’t make it we were only two. So we had a private tour performed by one of the most passionate guides I ever met called Ruben. He explained the history of the oldest Bodega in Rioja and showed us step by step the wine making process. Also the bodega inside is impressive! We finished with a wine degustation of 5 wines that gave a very good overview of what we learned in the tour and how excellent Rioja wines need to be. In my life I visited many wine houses but this is certainly one of my best experiences!

A great way to learn about the history of wine making in the Rioja region. Bodegas Manzanos has a fascinating history, a superb winery 2mins from its store front in Calle Prim in Haro, and the 5 wines tasted were diverse and helpful in being able to understand the subtlies of the spanish wine varietials. I learned so much.

Having visited the old winery many years ago we were very excited to see the new one. Very impressive we found it too! The food and wine pairings were excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed all. Much more commercialised than our last visit when it was very much a family business with a much more intimate feel about it but that is progress. Very interesting to taste the Vermouths too. We were told to hike up to the Ermita de San Felices by one of the local wine makers. What an experience I must say. It isn't a long hike, but well worth the climb to the top. We are fans of Rioja wines. Accidentally we discovered this winery next to the campsite we stayed, it’s cozy and easy excess, so we did a wine tasting and then found the wines are pretty nice and good value too, we bought couple cases of red Rioja, we recommend and will come back!

We came here last year and had an excellent experience. Our server was pleasant, helpful and informative. We tasted many of the wines, enjoyed the complementary tapas and bought 3 bottles of wine. We were impressed by the menu and decided to return this year to sample the food with the wines. This year we returned with the intention of tasting and buying more wine but also to have our lunch from The menu with the suggested wine pairing. Unfortunately, after one course of our lunch and a glass of wine each, which we really enjoyed, we were made to feel most uncomfortable by the rude response I received after going into the bar to request another glass of wine each to accompany our unfinished first course. We were intending to order more food and paired wines but felt so belittled by his rude and insolent response that we asked for the bill, paid and left. Such a shame as we were enjoying our lunch and would have spent a considerable amount on the rest of lunch and wines to take home. Consequently we did not buy any bottles of wine and will not be recommending this bodega to our friends and follower travellers. In fact we are very disappointed that we returned.

I came in for a glass of wine two days ago & was bought a little food taster to go with it, really nice. I was sat outside & first time here. I visited today, ordered wine & whilst everyone else around us was given tasters with their glasses of wine & we weren't. The menu states 'all the wines are paired with an appetizer'. It's not the food that's the issue, it's the inconsistancy & when everyone else is eating. Not impressed today.

Haro is the Capital of the Rioja wine growing area, therefore is worth visiting just for that. However there's so much more to this historic town, as the architecture is stunning. If you want to learn more about the local wine, there are wine merchants in the town centre who are very knowledgeable and keen to help. The one we went to was great and we bought a few bottles. He spoke good English, which was a help. There are plenty of bars and restaurants, where a bottle of wine produced just down the road can be enjoyed whilst taking the view. Well worth a visit.

Not only are several of the most prominent winemakers in the region located in and around Haro, but also the town center is full of restaurants offering top quality options to get a taste of the local flavors. Walking around, you’ll find statues in the street as well as wall murals.
Nanita — Google review
Came back to Haro after 7 years. Loved it the first time around, but didn't have much time to fully enjoy it. This time we stayed 4 nights in town. And it is still a fantastic little town. The Historic Center is where all the action is in the evenings, and it really gets packed on weekends. Besides the main square "Plaza De La Paz", the two small lanes "Calle Santo Tomás" and "Calle San Martín" are the places where you will find countless bars and restaurants. Also on the square "Plaza San Martin", which connects these two streets. For good Tapas head to "Los Canos" or "El Remolino". For Tapas with a twist, then you really need to check out the amazing "Beethoven I", amazing and innovative Tapas creations. We always enjoyed some bar-hopping here. Ending the night in one of the bars around Plaza De La Paz...many open late. The "Suizo" served huge drinks for small prices. Besides the food and drinks, it's the untouched old buildings in this part of town which makes it looks like you time-travelled back a few hundred years. And even though a major tourist attraction in the Rioja region, it is surprising how little international visitors you see in the evenings. It's mostly locals and spanish tourists. And that's great. In case you can't find a seat in one of the bars, do as locals do and just grab your Tapas and wine and sit on some bench, stone wall or stroll around the Plaza. Nice to know that many restaurants and bars allow dogs inside. Just ask. Haro is a wonderful town, a great base to explore the wine country. We will definitely be back. But we won't wait 7 years again.

The lobby is spacious and bright; when I visited, it housed "Barro, Fuego y Alma" (Clay, Fire, and Soul) by local ceramist Rafa Pérez, with interesting pieces (I highlight a pictorial composition near the entrance). The alabaster staircase leading to the upper floors reminded me of the Cañas Abbey Church; beautiful, as is the spiral staircase leading to the rooftop viewing platform, from which you can enjoy spectacular views of the vineyards, the Sierra de Cantabria, and Haro's square. Upstairs, the photography exhibition "La morada de las nieves" (The Moratorium of the Snows. (Translated by Google) A park with great views, lots of grass, tables, a playground, benches, and a fountain. Near the center of Haro. Ideal for spending time or spending time with the kids or dogs. It could use more trash cans, as many people destroy them and leave everything on the floor.
