Great food, one of the few real Italian restaurants in the city. Their meats are great and the selection of wines includes some really interesting ones. Friendly Italian staff that know their product. Absolutely a must

Fabulous Italian Restaurant in Las Arenas. 5 of us had lunch and were not disappointed. Each of the dishes were freshly prepared and cooked to perfection. Service was excellent along with the wine. Paid approx €32/person but well worth it. Strongly recommend this restaurant. Andrea and his staff are excellent 👌🏻
Chris H — Google review
Excellent Italian restaurant if a bit pricey, fantastic waiter and lovely Italian food best to make a reservation as the upstairs restaurant is small and tends to fill up especially at weekends.

Sushi restaurant
Nestled in a charming village, Nikkou stands out as a must-visit destination for food lovers in the Province of Vizcaya. This delightful restaurant offers an exquisite selection of Japanese cuisine, featuring everything from traditional sushi and sashimi to innovative hot sushi and unique pinchos. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it perfect for both casual dining and special occasions.
We walked by and decided to have something to eat, the food could not be better, staff have been amazing! We brought our dog with us and have been made feel so welcome. You must try this food.
Linda H — Google review
The sashimi and rolls were amazing, the staff spoke English, and the place was spotless. I totally recommend it! I'll definitely be back.
Q — Google review
Spot on place! Every aspect of it; from it's bar, to it's restaurant, to it's location on a very hot day. + It's Nigiri, it is just something else. A+.
Iratxe M — Google review
Very good Japanese food, a bit pricie if have to complain about something, but not massively so. Good service too :)
Ezequiel M — Google review
Nice, cozy, great staff and even (if possible) better Japanese food. A rare jewel, definitely a must. Book in advance: it's a small place!
Alejandro C — Google review
Bad value for money, not a place for sushi enthusiasts. All pieces have mayonnaise or sauces that don’t let you enjoy the taste of a sushi piece. Also service is not good, looks like a sushi artist but they bill 50€ per person. Won’t be coming back nor recommend it to anyone who likes sushi.
David — Google review
Random find and good quality of japanese fusion food.

Great looking dishes, awesomely prepared..!! A restaurant like this should not be serving farmed fish though. Would have given 4+ stars if it wasn't because of that. But will not be back until that changes nor I can recommend it :(

Mediterranean restaurant
Restaurante Itxas Bide offers an incredible selection of fresh fish and seafood, sourced directly from the boats. With a casual and friendly atmosphere, this establishment provides top-notch service and delicious food. The restaurant boasts stunning views from its upstairs area, while the downstairs bar is perfect for enjoying a refreshing drink and some pintxos. Highly recommended by patrons, Itxas Bide is not to be missed.
Lovely bar in a beautiful location, much used by locals and visitors. Often busy, but we’ve always found the service remarkably good, and the staff very friendly and welcoming. Excellent range of Pintxos - although these predominantly feature sea food (very little for vegetarians, although they do offer a really tasty cheese croquet!). Food is mid-priced rather than the cheapest, but drinks seem no dearer than any other bar. As well as evening drinks/snacks, this was our preferred place for breakfast in Getxo - the bar is pretty quiet earlier in the day. [Note that there’s an upstairs restaurant here which we never tried … Google’s opening hours seem to relate to that rather than the downstairs bar, which was normally open from 09:00 through to at least 22:00 during our time here.]
George H — Google review
Excellent place after a walk in Getxo. The are is buzzing with people drinking and eating outdoors, authentic Basque culture on a sunny winter Sunday. One of the best gildas we've tasted during our trip.
María C — Google review
Fantastic fish and seafood straight from the boats. Unpretentious but with great service and great tasting food. Fabulous views from the restaurant upstairs, but also a great place to grab a caña and some pintxos too from the downstairs bar. Highly recommended.
Simon — Google review
Popular and nice location. Many locals buy drinks there and enjoy them curbside at the promenade. Relaxed atmosphere. Nice stop during a walk along the coastline. Didn’t try the snacks.
Marius — Google review
Very nice place to take a coffe or tea and drink it on the sun with a view to the sea. Stuff is also very cool!

The Restraunt is upstairs and do not confuse it with the downstairs bar. The fish was amazing. We where allowed by the owner to take photos and her smiling face was there to great us. Don’t miss this stop. Fantastico

Restaurant
Nestled in the picturesque northern region of Bilbao, Taroku stands out as a must-visit destination for lovers of authentic Chinese cuisine. This charming restaurant beautifully blends local flavors with influences from Taiwan and Hong Kong, creating a unique dining experience. The warm hospitality provided by Alicia and Trisha makes every guest feel right at home. Diners rave about the generous portions, perfect for sharing among friends or family, featuring delightful dishes like rice and noodles alongside crispy fried options.
This restaurant is amazing. It’s the best. The service is amazing, the atmosphere is calm. The food is great. The staff are very kind.
Salma A — Google review
This restaurant is located in the north of Bilbao near the sea. It is a fusion of local flavors with Taiwanese, Hong Kong and Chinese styles. All the waiters were very friendly and helpful, and the owner, Alicia from Taiwan, was very welcoming and willing to talk to all the customers. We ordered a rice dish, a noodle dish and two fried dishes. All the dishes tasted good and the portions were large enough for about four adults to share. We ended up paying around 56 euros, which is very affordable. This is an Asian restaurant that has been open for decades in the area, in a quiet neighborhood and serving mostly locals. We hope that the next time we visit Bilbao, we will come back to this restaurant to try the Taiwanese beef noodles that the owner recommended.

The best Chinese restaurant I’ve been to. After trying their soups and bread I keep coming back for me. The last time left with my pants unbuttoned. The waitresses are very nice too 🫶🏻

Rude service that does not respect foreign customers (young boy). Too bad. Want to spend our many but with this service never.

(Translated by Google) The exact location is not this, it is a little further up the little square. It took us a while to locate it and we wanted to go for the good opinions. They have a bar full of various pintxos and they all look very good. We ordered one of herring which is very good and we drank txacolí. It is small but they have a terrace outside and it is also good. (Original) La ubicación exacta no es esta, es un poco más arriba en la placita. (Translated by Google) It's located in the beautiful Puerto Viejo de Algorta (highly recommended, by the way). We had some tapas and various other dishes, and everything was delicious. The price is reasonable, and the waiters are more than friendly. It's also true that the service wasn't very good, with several forgetful comments and things like that... But they did offer a smile. (Original) Está situado en el precioso Puerto Viejo de Algorta (recomendable visita, por cierto). Hemos comido unos pinchos y varias raciones, y bien, la verdad es que todo estaba rico. Restaurant
IWASAKI Restaurante Japonés offers a delightful culinary experience with its Omakase menu, consisting of 8 different dishes that are light and healthy. The restaurant serves authentic Japanese food, including fantastic desserts such as ice cream. The ambiance is cozy and relaxing, and the service is excellent, providing detailed explanations for each step of the meal. It is highly recommended to make a reservation in advance and allocate a couple of hours in your schedule to fully enjoy the experience.
We had the big menu and it was all fantastic. Superb quality tasty little dishes, well balanced, tasty and interesting. I can't wait to go back to try the next seasonal menu. Excellent value too. Thoroughly recommend and deserving of the high rating. And they have a great wine selection. No photos as I think surprises are better!
Jasper P — Google review
Outstanding omakase—highly recommended! The meal was a delight from start to finish. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and explained in English. The service was warm and attentive, and the value for the price is exceptional. If we lived nearby, we'd be regulars!
Annabell G — Google review
A delightful culinary experience We tried the Omakase menu (a sampling of 8 different dishes) which, while being light and healthy, had not a single "weak" dish. The menu consisted of, obviously, authentic Japanese food and the desserts, specially the Ice cream, were fantastic. The local is cosy and has a relaxing atmosphere with an excellent service that provided explanations for every single step of the meal. If you are thinking about visiting the restaurant, which we heavily recommend to anyone open to new experiences or to someone who knows about Japanese foods, I suggest you make a reservation in advance and clear a couple of hours of your schedule to enjoy the pace. Will definitely come back
Endika R — Google review
I honestly cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. I had the 8-dish omakase and every plate was delicious, thoughtful and full of personality. The flow of the menu felt creative and refined while still being light and easy to enjoy. The produce is of the highest quality and treated with real care. You can tell the chefs are not just cooking but creating an experience. The service is another highlight. Everyone is genuine, welcoming and clearly committed to making guests feel taken care of. What makes it even more special is the value for money. It is rare these days to find a place where you get this level of food, service and atmosphere at such a fair price. This restaurant is a true treasure.

(Translated by Google) Honestly, it was a 10/10 experience. Each dish was different and exquisite, although if I had to highlight one, it would be the donburi for the texture of the sea bass. The service was impeccable from start to finish, with the explanations, information, and treatment... Highly recommended, and knowing that each season changes makes me want to come back 😊 (Original) Sinceramente una experiencia de 10. If you're on the hunt for a delightful dining experience, look no further than Restaurante Japonés - Hoshino. This charming spot offers an array of delectable dishes that will tantalize your taste buds. From their exquisite sushi to traditional yaki soba and eel rice, every bite is a celebration of flavor. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for enjoying a warm bowl of miso soup or crispy chicken katsu on a chilly evening.
Everything was amazing! Food is so delicious. The best sushi I’ve had (and I’ve tried a lot in different cities and countries). Wondering why we were here alone, because it was so good! We were here 2 days in a row.
Stanislav Z — Google review
If you're looking for authentic Japanese, you might find yourself a little disappointed here. But if you're looking for tasty food with good service and atmosphere, then this is the right place. I came in on a chilly night and was warmed up by the miso soup and chicken katsu. I look forward to seeing what their other dishes are like.
Edward P — Google review
The food and service were both very good. While it’s not the best sushi I’ve ever had, it definitely stands out compared to other options in the area, which often lean toward being too plain, overloaded with mayo or having mainly options with salmon. This place has a nice, varied menu. The staff was very polite and accommodating, and the atmosphere was calm—not too loud—which made it easy for us to stay with a sleeping baby. There was even space for our stroller, which was a big plus. I’d rate it around 4.6–4.7 if that were an option, but since it’s a 1–5 scale, it’s a solid 5 stars from me. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Adrianna H — Google review
So this place is ok, but not amazing. I think for Asian food in Spain it's good, but you can't compare it to Japanese food in Japan or my home town of Brighton, England. We started with a California style sushi which was very nice. I then had what I came here for, the pork broth ramen, which was very disappointing. There wasn't enough broth, you had to dig down through the ramen noodle to find it. And the broth itself was very poor, not nearly rich and creamy enough, and the fat was separated at the surface which it shouldn't be. The boiled egg centre was dry and overcooked, not soft as it should be, and not finished in soya sauce either. I was really hoping to find good pork ramen locally but I will have to keep looking or just make it at home. We also had the Chinese style duck which wasn't like the usual Peking duck, it was just breast meat, but the skin was crispy and the flavour was fine, though not enough pancakes or veggies with it. As it's so local we'll probably go back and try some other things. The owners are very sweet too.
Jasper P — Google review
We had amazing experience with Hoshino 👍🏻 the food was amazing, we took a set of sushi, traditional yaki soba and rice with eel, the food was amazing, the best sushi we tried for a long time. Great, great pet friendly hotel! The staff were very friendly from the reception to the restaurant. We dined in the restaurant since we arrived late in night and the food was really good. The room was large, modern, very clean and had a great and fun surprise for our dog. In the morning we walked the promenade right outside the hotel which had beautiful views. Will definitely come back and stay here again!

Amazing staff, especially Martin on reception! The hotel is spotless and has such charm. It was like a little oasis! Minibar was well stocked too, with lots of options. Loved that you can eat an early dinner, as the restaurant is open from 1pm and doesn't close in the afternoon. It was hard to leave!

The check-in host Xavier was extremely kind, helpful, and gave us many suggestions for things to do in the area. Our rooms were spacious, comfortable, and clean. The breakfast service was very affordable and had many delicious options and parking was also reasonable. We really enjoyed the direct access to the pier and being able to walk around, as well as the proximity to Bilbao. We would definitely recommend Embarcadero and would stay here again. Thank you!

We had a superior suite with sea views and only the view was perfect. NO WiFi coverage in a room and problems with mobile coverage, NO hair dryer and coffee cups (though there is a coffee machine). One can hear (and see) everything what’s going on in a bathroom, so if you are not too intimate with your partner it can cause certain inconvenience. The bathroom itself needs deep anti cal and some anti mold cleaning. The room was clean, the bed comfortable (though they use sheets instead of duvet covers. Hope everything gets desinfected after each client). The guys at the restaurant were really nice, helping to choose perfect wine. The breakfast was good as well. All in all - not good value for money.

Stopped for a coffee on a cold winter morning and wasn’t disappointed. The place is super cosy and warm, decoration and building are very attractive. Besides the coffee couldn’t be better, one of the best ones I’ve ever had, for a very budget friendly price too. The waiter that served us was very cheerful and nice.

Casa Leotta Getxo is a charming Italian restaurant known for its delicious pizzas, pastas, and more. Visitors have praised the quality of the food and the attentive customer service. The cozy and welcoming atmosphere makes diners feel right at home. Guests have particularly enjoyed dishes like lasagna and the Italian Meatboard. The restaurant is highly recommended for those seeking a delightful dining experience with great food and friendly service in a quiet and pleasant setting.
The customer service by the two male servers is excellent. Both of them are so attentive, friendly and professional. We went there on a Saturday evening without reservation and they managed to accommodate us, immediately brought menus and talk us through what to order etc. If the owner is reading this, please raise the salary to both of them because they are making your customers come back because of the excellent customer service. The food is amazing but having good staff makes the whole experience way better. The food was really good, the Ragú pasta was very delicious and felt like eating in your mum’s house. The focaccia bread is unbelievable.

I’m German and I’ve been to many Italian restaurants – both in Germany and in Italy. So I have a good sense of what good Italian food tastes like. That’s exactly why this place stood out. The food was awesome – well-balanced, clearly prepared, no frills, just really awesome . What made it even better was the atmosphere. The staff were remarkably friendly – not in a rehearsed way, but genuinely attentive and warm. You simply feel welcome. I normally don’t write reviews. But in this case, I’m making an exception – because this restaurant is an exception and absolutely worth knowing! Thank you!

Basque restaurant
Mediterranean restaurant
Tamarises Izarra jatetxea is a culinary gem perched on the first floor, offering stunning views of Ereaga beach. With over a century of gastronomic history, this restaurant showcases the creative talents of Chef Javier Izarra through contemporary Basque tasting menus that are beautifully presented. Diners can indulge in exquisite dishes like txangurro with Iberico gratin and lamb millefeuille, alongside an array of other enticing options.
We came here last Sunday for lunch with a group of 15 people. Initially we were in the tavern downstairs and there was also confusion concerning the time of reservation. We thought 13h but it turned out to be 13h30, where the fault was entirely ours. However, by 13h15 we were allowed in without any problems. We were seated upstairs in a larger room at a huge table. It was somewhat reminiscent of a wedding party. So at first the atmosphere was a bit strange. However, the service was tremendously obliging and almost perfect. We were listened to and we were all allowed to choose a la carte. In Belgium, it often happens that with such a company, you can only choose a limited number of different dishes. We all took fish and it was perfectly prepared from the first to the last person. I have rarely eaten such delicious tuna in my life! After three days I was tired of gazpacho, but this restaurant's version with mint and strawberry tasted excellent! We were served bread several times and were always allowed to choose from several varieties. We also liked the wine so much that some of us scanned the bottle to purchase it ourselves later. At dessert, someone in our party requested Irish coffee and although this seemed an unfamiliar concept to the service, it was agreed to. The Irish coffee seemed to be 50 percent coffee and 50 percent whiskey, but tasted no less (and it made us laugh). For me the best meal of my stay in and around Bilbao, despite the atmosphere of the room haha. My recommendation? Come by rental bike from Bilbao along the Viscaya bridge, or take the metro from Bilbao to the bridge (Areeta stop) and walk another 40 minutes along the water to this restaurant, because you should taste this!

We had a stop at Bilbao for one night and we stayed at the hotel nearby tamarises restaurant. We ordered the cuttlefish, cod and burger. The 3 dishes were really good. The food at this restaurant is highly recommended (it is not cheap though). We were sitting at the terrace and we had 2 problems. One was the people smoking and it was very annoying. I understand that it is outside but it is still covered and people are close. In Canada at restaurants, smoking is not allowed even outside. The other issue was the service. It was slow a bit and the waiter changed 3 times for our table.

Awesome experience, very tasted food, all meals were incredible. Recommended 10000% Only small issue they haven't wheelchair access, but the staff prepared a table on the ground floor, and our waitress was incredibly well attended, their suggestions all perfect and very friendly chef as well.

We had a lunch in the restaurant. The restaurant is on the seaside, has nice view and the interior was very pleasant. We asked for the English menu but they did not have it - no problem, we wanted to translate the Spanish one. The waiter did not know the wifi code, tried several times 2-3 codes but it did not work. Finallly we could translate it, ordered the soup to share and 2 main courses. The soup is enough for 4 persons, we regreted so much when it was taken away - we could not eat that portion. We asked the waiter why it is not written on the menu that it is for 4 persons but he answered that yes, it is huge portion. Portion of the main courses was ok. In sum the food was not really tasty, we expected more from this restaurant and for the price.

Really nice little restaurant with a beautiful sea view. Took the metro from central Bilbao to Gexto looking for a nice meal near the beach and it was lovely. €15 Sangria bucket was ace as well as the duck was so tender. Definitely recommend!

Worst meal in 5 trips to Spain. We had a 9p reservation. The appetizer fish was not fresh. The peppers on side were burnt. I at less than 1/2 the dish. No questions asked on how it was. The entree fish (turbot) was even worse - inedible. It is the only meal we had in a week in Basque that was not great - and it was truly awful. The best part of meal was the bottle of wine. They brought each course before we were done with next. 3 courses were served in less than an hour - unheard of in Spain. We left before 10:15p. The service from the front was also odd. He seemed to hesitate to seat us initially. He asked if we were done when he saw me push the fish away but did not ask if it was ok - seeing only one bite eaten. After mentioning the fish tasted bad, he did take the entree off the bill and said he told the kitchen, but no apology.

Reviewing the restaurant up stairs in the first floor. Reservation was easy via their website where you also could indicate the tasting menu you want to sample - in case you are not opting for a La Carte. We had the chefs special running at 79 EUR per person without the wine pairing. The restaurant is mainly visited by locals at least that was our impression during the lunch time. The waiters were all extremely friendly and attentive. The tasting menu was a delight and a nice selection of Basque cuisine. We opted for a Txakoli as drink which was nice and refreshing. Recommend if you are visiting the Vizcaya Bridge nearby or just Getxo and the beach in general. You will have a great view from the first floor overlooking the whole beach.

After a walk along the long beach promenade in Getxo I fancied a sit down and a snack. I started looking for bars that offered a vast array of Pintxos and decided on this place and I'm glad I did! :) I walked in and my eyes were presented with more savoury bar treats than I could of imagined! I went for 5 different pieces (at €1 each) both meat and seafood ones and they were all amazing, but especially the jamón ones...I could of gone back for more but held back! So, if you want a true taste of Basque Pintxo delights then definitely check out this place if you're in the area! I was that impressed I had to give it 5 stars! ;D

We spontaneously decided to have lunch at Dando la brasa and were thoroughly impressed by the high quality of the dishes. From delicious scallops and ceviche to mouthwatering baos with chorizo, every plate was a culinary delight. The desserts were equally amazing. Even the kids' menu offered fancy options like mini tuna steaks, pan fried tomatoes and potatoes, as well as nachos with a delectable homemade cheese dip.
Good music, friendly staff. Sometimes it seems a little understaffed but I'm patient enough not to be bothered. I visited multiple times and I have to say each time was better than the last, and every time it exceeded my expectations. As others have said, Pez Mantequilla is a must to try! But I also loved the ceviche de corvina, takitos, croquetas, ojo de bife, chuleta, torta de queso, and the pisco sour is perfectly up my alley. Strong recommend!

The kids menu is also quite fancy offering, amongst other dishes, mini tuna steaks, pan fried tomatoes and potatoes as well as nachos with a delicious homemade cheese dip. Add an extremely friendly kitchen and service crews plus very fair priced wines and cocktails, this neighborhood spot is a solid 10/10!

Yeah this wasn’t a good experience. We walked in at around 10:30 and were met with a waiter that was reluctant to seat us because they were full. There was about 3 tables seated, one of which was clearly finished, and the others had already been served. We insisted as we were very hungry and it was the only option open at that time in the area. We were served a starter of empanadas. Just one. For two people. That’s all. He said they couldn’t serve us anything else, but we were so hungry we accepted. And the worst thing was, out of all 4 empanadas, only one was half decent, the rest were just pasty, way to salty and dry.

El bar de Rafa is a delightful culinary haven that captures the essence of traditional Spanish cuisine while adding a modern twist. Visitors rave about the exceptional service and warm hospitality, making it an ideal spot for families or anyone looking to enjoy a hearty meal.
This is the type of Spanish restaurant I really admire. Good, fresh, simple food served right. Not fancy. It is a neighborhood place, but the quality is great. You can try a little bit of Spain for a great price if you try the menu del día. I will be back.

Sukam is a restaurant that pleasantly surprised me with its fusion cuisine. Despite my initial skepticism, I found the dishes to be delicious, made with fresh and seasonal ingredients. The blend of different culinary elements was executed well, and the wine list was impressive. The portion sizes were suitable for fine dining. One thing to note is that the cheesecake dessert contains goat cheese, which may not appeal to everyone and could have been mentioned in the menu or by the waiter.
I'll admit I was skeptical when we entered the restaurant. I'm not a huge fusion fan. Well, Sukam changed that. Everything was delicious. Extremely fresh and seasonal ingredients. The different elements of the cuisines were well blended. Great wine list. Portions were normal sized for fine dining. must try

Delicious food at a reasonable price. Highly recommendable. Must though worn that the cheesecake dessert contains goat cheese!?! I would have expected this to be mentioned in the menu card or by the waiter who recommended it as the most successful dessert. Goat cheese is not everyone's favorite.

Willows, a restaurant located in Las Arenas, offers incredible cuisine and has a fantastic and welcoming staff. The roast beef is highly recommended, as well as the hare dish that was suggested by one of the friendly waitstaff. The presentation of each dish is beautifully done, showcasing the talent of the chef and his team. The coffee served here is also delightful and visually appealing. Overall, Willows comes highly recommended for its excellent food prepared by talented individuals in a beautiful atmosphere with comfortable surroundings.

I quiet place a block away from the bustle by the metro station. Excellent quality food, extensive list of wine by the glass. The chef is a bit of an Anglophile and the dessert chef (his wife) is English, as reflected in the desserts (very tasty cheesecake).

A welcoming and wonderful hidden gem for all gourmet's. Almost when lost in the traditional Spanish cuisine a must try the chefs vegetarian Fideuá. La Ola Getxo is a charming spot that perfectly encapsulates the essence of Basque culture, especially when it comes to savoring local pintxos. Nestled in the picturesque Old Port, El Puerto Viejo de Algorta, this area is a favorite among visitors for its stunning photo opportunities and vibrant atmosphere. As you wander through its narrow cobblestone streets lined with quaint bars and traditional houses, you'll feel as if you've stepped back in time.
This place has quite good food, although the staff can be a bit hit and miss. We came for lunch just a few days ago, and it was quite a hot and sunny day. Because of COVID, only 6 people can be sat at a table, and we were 8. No problem, 6 of us on one table and 2 on a small table next to the big table. They had 3 exactly identical such setups. They wanted to seat us in the only one setup where the 2-people table was right under the scorching sun. Really? They have 3 exactly equal setups, all empty, and they threw a little fit instead of sitting us in any of the other identical setups in the shade? So, the hostess didn't do great. Annoyingly, that table remained empty for well over an hour as we ate, and eventually only a group of 4 sat there, and no one ever used the table under the sun. So what was the point of the initial discussion then? Luckily, after that, everything went fine: food is quite good, if not amazing, the place is pleasant, and the waiters - some of them who I've known to work there for many years - are very pleasant people, especially with young kids. I'd recommend trying this place, but again, beware of not always as-good-as-hoped service.

The Igeretxe hotel is a sophisticated seaside resort with spacious rooms, an authentic Japanese eatery, and a relaxed café/bar. Nestled on a picturesque sandy beach with stunning surroundings, it offers the perfect setting for sunbathing or kids' sand play. The hotel exudes an exquisite ambiance, and its restaurant serves delectable dishes for guests to savor. Within walking distance, there are various eateries, boutiques, pubs, and bakeries to explore.
We liked the room and everything it had to offer. We loved the accessibility to the beach. The cafe downstairs was practical for coffee and breakfast. The inconvenient was that the hotel had nothing to offer other than the rooms. So it was a bit limited but the hotel was quiet and the staff were friendly and nice.
Ghassan S — Google review
Lovely hotel; elegant long-established building, large well-appointed rooms, with extra-large and very comfortable beds and good-sized en-suites, good simple decor and kept immaculately clean - although with such a generally high standard it was disappointing that the pop-up plug in the sink didn’t work! The staff - front desk and housekeeping - were friendly and helpful. The only disadvantage is the Hotel’s lack of catering, meaning there is no room service - surprising for a 4* hotel. The two catering outlets on site (that, from their menus, seem to share a kitchen) seem to run as independent operations. They offer great views, and the bar and terrace bar are excellent places for a drink … however the breakfast offering included far the worst Cafe con Letche encountered in 24 days in Spain, and was otherwise unremarkable; I’d suggest the 9-minute walk along the sea front to Itxas Bide where you’ll pay less for a better breakfast! [We didn’t eat here, so I can’t comment on the lunch/dinner options, but to be fair those we saw looked pretty good.]
George H — Google review
The only thing this place had going for it was the location and the views that come with it. The staff were just nice enough. Other than this the hotel promises so much more and delivers so little. The list of what this place has to offer is so much shorter than what this place does not have going for it. The hallways are dirty and smelly like animals( even though the property advertise that pets are not allowed) the carpet have questionable stains in the hallways) outside the hotel an unbearable stench of rotten fish like smell emits from goodness knows where. The hotel provides no breakfast not even any water or place to buy a drink. The hotel does not even attempt to provide any facilities in the room in terms of kettle/iron/or drinks in the fridge. We stayed in the basic priced £314.00 for 4 nights with a garden view. I believe that this is an unjustifiable charge for the lack of facilities on offer. I cannot understand how they justify a charge of over £700 per night for a room with a sea view when they offer no facilities (no breakfast, no bar of coffee shop.) they might say they don’t offer food as there is a restaurant on the ground floor which is independent and not accessible through the hotel but rather from the outside (sea front promenade) The AC does not work, and the room gets too hot at night. When you open the windows to let air in you are bitten to death by mosquitoes and have to put up with the fish like smell. We left disappointed and robbed of our money and worse of than that with arms and legs and face full of mosquito bites. The only thing you are getting for the amount you pay is a roof over your head and a bed to sleep in. not worth the money.
Toqeer S — Google review
+ Positive: Hotel is right on the beach, room was big with comfortable bed..... that's all! - Negative: Hotel was "dead"!!! No service, no reception, no bar, no restaurant, no people.....it felt like abandoned place 🙈 We had big regrets booking this place, it's not a 4* Hotel....It has potential to be a 4 star, but at the moment its just an abandoned building on the beach.
Alla R — Google review
4 star hotel has no air conditioning open the windows you will be bitten by mosquitos, very strong smell just outside hotel. Not a best deal.
Syed N — Google review
We recently stayed at this hotel hoping for a relaxing beachside holiday, but unfortunately, the experience was far from what you'd expect from a so-called four-star establishment. Let me start with the positives: the location is truly unbeatable. The hotel is situated directly on the beach, offering beautiful views and easy access to the sea. The staff are also very friendly and clearly try their best with what they have. I genuinely appreciated their warm attitude and willingness to help. However, that’s where the good news ends. The hotel itself is in a very poor state of maintenance. Rooms are outdated. Fixtures are broken or worn out, and the entire place feels neglected. This is simply not up to four-star standards by any stretch of the imagination. From mold in the bathrooms to thin, uncomfortable mattresses, every aspect of the accommodation was disappointing. Public areas such as the lobby also appear tired and under-cared for. Even basic amenities that are standard in any decent hotel — let alone a four-star — were either lacking or substandard. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway, this is not the place to stay. The location might draw you in, but the reality of the hotel will quickly ruin any hopes of a restful vacation. Until serious renovations and upgrades are made, I cannot recommend this hotel.

As a young couple with a baby, we had the pleasure of staying at the luxurious hotel for a weekend getaway. Our stay was nothing short of exceptional, and we were impressed by the exceptional service and stunning accommodations. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the front desk staff who promptly checked us in and provided us with a wealth of information about the hotel's amenities and services. The lobby was beautifully decorated with plush seating and tasteful artwork, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our room was spacious, elegantly furnished, and immaculately clean, making us feel right at home. The large windows offered breathtaking views of the beach, and we appreciated the thick curtains that allowed us to sleep soundly despite the bright city lights. The hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable, from providing us with a crib for our baby to offering excellent recommendations for local restaurants and attractions. One of the highlights of our stay was the hotel's restaurant, where we enjoyed a delicious meal and excellent service. The menu featured a variety of dishes crafted from fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, and the presentation was impeccable. The hotel's location was ideal, situated near the beach and within walking distance of many popular pincho bars. We appreciated the convenience of having a bus station just a few blocks away, making it easy to explore the city with our baby. Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable stay in the city. The exceptional service, stunning accommodations, and convenient location make it an excellent choice for both couples and families.

Very disappointing dinner. This place is essentially a canteen that charges fine dining prices. The interior is completely unremarkable and the place only had 2 busy tables apart from ours on Wednesday evening, and there is a reason for that - their food is pretty underwhelming. The skin of the octopus was separating and resembled melting slime. It was clearly cooked incorrectly or reheated. The bred crust was so hard you could cut all your gums. The fish was alright but extremely basic and boring presentation. The portions are typically bigger than an average person can eat. I suggest you share one fish dish. English is not spoken in this place and menus are Spanish only. I have to conclude that this place offers terrible value for money and you can find Michelin star quality dinner for this price elsewhere, in Bilbao. Not coming back here.

My girlfriend and I both had our best fish ever here. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the food very good. Some reviews write about high prices, but I disagree, you can eat here (and be full) for just 12 to 15 euros if you want! They do have more exclusive fish, all fresh, if you have more money to spend. We spent 70 euro including tip and wine for a starter and two large main courses. Tip: come early, the place fills up at around nine and opens at eight thirty.

I wanted to try the famous chuletón steak and was pleasantly surprised to find that in Getxo there are fine dining places open until late. What amazed me even more was the steak menu itself — ours included carpaccio, grilled mushrooms, and a bottle of wine. The steak was absolutely divine! You even get the chance to finish grilling it yourself to your preferred doneness on a small tabletop grill. Because of that, I’d recommend choosing a table on the terrace when ordering this dish. Service was fast and attentive — a truly memorable experience.

Tudelilla jatetxea is a charming family restaurant known for its simple yet delicious menu del dia and a la carte options. The restaurant offers a variety of classic dishes, fresh fish, and great meat selections. The wine cellar is particularly impressive, offering an array of interesting wines. The ambiance is old-school with paper tablecloths, adding to the unique charm of the place. The friendly service and knowledgeable staff make dining here a delightful experience.
Wonderful home cooked food and friendly service. We had the menu del dia and it was positively life changing. The Cuban rice, a simple dish of fried rice topped with a sunny side up egg and a tomato sauce, was ridiculously tasty, as was their bean stew (which also had black pudding in it). The fish, pan fried and served with a wedge of lemon, was fresh, light, and flaky and moist. Their chicken, however, was the standout dish of the meal. The chicken leg was meltingly tender and gelatinous, and the gravy was rich and profound. The dish tasted as if someone's grandmother had spent a day and a night making it. And the whole meal was only 11€ per person. What a steal.

Food was great, only good thing about the place. The service was extremely slow, had to get up a few times to get their attention and the server came after 30 minutes with a bad look on his face, didn’t even want to repeat the menu options and was annoyed (this was the case for every single server in that place). After a +700€ bill, they didn’t even have the decency to offer a small digestive shot at the end of lunch, getting out to the parking to scream at us to pay when the 2 people who took them left (6€ out of the whole bill).

The atmosphere was pleasant and the food was quite good. Good portion sizes and a decent price for dinner (an even better price for the menu del día). The service was less than stellar, as we were forgotten amongst a restaurant with only 2 other occupied tables. Also IVA (taxes) was not included in the menu prices like 99 percent of the restaurants in Spain. So it hurt a bit to see it on the bill. In July 2015, I had a pleasant dining experience at Restaurante Boga. The establishment features a peaceful outdoor terrace located at the rear of the restaurant. They have cleverly created an additional seating area that comfortably accommodates groups of five, while also providing protection from the sun. Restaurante Boga offers a diverse menu that includes fresh seafood and excellent beef options. One aspect that particularly stood out to me was their impressive selection of dishes.
Very good! Very nice place for Sunday dinner with family or friends.

Service was unattentive and forgot us quite often. We asked for the bill at the end 3 times until they came (30mins) The Burger was bland, not seasoned well and also came without any condiment. No ketchup or mayo, a quite dry affair. The fries were soggy and dripping in fat. The Appetizer Tacos on the other hand were drowned in Mayo and Avocado Sauce, too bad because the meat filling seemed quite nice. My Wifes entrecote was a sad story, just the piece of meat slapped on the plate with like 6 soggy fries. The waitress did not know what a medium-rare steak was, even after googling it in spanish (Término medio o en su punto) the steak came pretty much raw. For nearly 20€ you could expect them to know how to cook a steak and ask how you like it done.

Goiezti, a hidden gem nestled in the scenic hills near Bilbao's beach, is a highly recommended restaurant. It offers a professional menu del dia that doesn't disappoint. Priced at 20 euros per person, every plate served is delicious and complemented by wonderful wine. Despite the slow start due to understaffing, the lively atmosphere and delectable meal make up for it.
We stumbled upon this lovely restaurant after a long walk along the coast. We were a little late for lunch, but they were happy to accommodate us. We had the 22 euro menu del dia and it was absolutely fantastic. A beautiful and relaxed space to eat and drink.

This was our favourite restaurant of our time in Bilbao! We ordered their professional menu del día and it didn’t disappoint. It was 20€ per person. Each plate was delicious and the wine we had with lunch was wonderful. Service started a bit slow but there were only two working and it was VERY busy, but that didn’t take away from The atmosphere or our meal. The restaurant is tucked away among some really lovely back streets up in the hills off the beach. Worth going to see the area. 100% recommend!

Traditional Basque tavern with three or four tables inside and a pretty large terrace. The food is all about pintxos and small portions to be shared. We really enjoyed the fried calamari and filled peppers. Perfect for a stop before or after strolling through the picturesque old port of Algorta.

Nice place for tourists, not locals. We went with a small kid, who is noisy as all children, and the waiter behaved rudely with us. While I understand families with kids might not be the best customer, it would have been easier to reject us straight away or not allow kids as a general rule.

The food is good, you can go for both portions and a menu, but the prices are going up and right now it is a bit expensive. The bathrooms and the premises are always very clean. Regarding going "a la carte", I do not recommend it due to its quantity/price ratio, which is not highly recommended, everything is very delicious, but the quantities are very small, yes, the baked cheesecake is incredible. The beans were hard, they lacked boiling, the pods were very tasty, the pepper and tuna salad, the peppers were delicious, the tuna quite scarce. The seconds, the blood sausage good, the potato cream accompanying the schnitzel, delicious. The schnitzel, for me, was excessively refried. The desserts were average, the only one that stood out a little was a yogurt foam with cookie crumble and red fruit jam. Somewhat monotonous menu that does not correspond to the price. A superb discovery on a cloudy and drizzly Friday, MiGaea surprised and delivered in every respect: it seemed a bit quiet when we walked in, but we were reassured by a warm welcome by Dario, a very friendly and long serving waiter from Ecuador. It only got better from there as we were treated to a top notch menu - and not expensive either. Off the menu I highly recommend the pimientos de Guernica, which we took 2 side orders of (so delicious with the sale crystals), as well as the (on menu) tempura green asparagus. My main, the cod with pistachio was divine, exquisite taste. Everything was prepared with great attention and consideration of pleasing presentation to the eye. And the crowning jewel was the apple and cinnamon soufflé - see photo! The other desserts were fab too - could not finish so we took the rest with us, which the restaurant was kind to oblige. In sum, a bit disappointed after our lunch at what seemes a trditional Basque Asador, but whose attempt to sophistication results in portions being too small. We believe you can find better places around.

Visited Barcelona, San Sebastián, Getxo/Bilbao and Madrid, and this was far and away the best dinner we had! The food is simple and fresh. Their formula boils down to matching a few amazing ingredients to create food that is irresistible on every level! Borda is off the beaten path, probably a 10 minute walk from the beach in Getxo, so if your cruise includes a stop in Bilbao and docks in Getxo, do yourself a favor and make a reservation! Our meal started with the most amazing tomato salad, a plate of Guindilla peppers, then the smoothest mashed potatoes with chanterelle mushrooms and a poached egg (amazing!), pan-seared fresh anchovies (I could have eaten plates and plates of these!) and a beautiful steak (one that will give any Florentine bistecca a run for its money!) paired with a simple refreshing salad. Deserts were amazing, wine was terrific and reasonable with service as good as anywhere! Borda is a true hidden gem in Getxo!

One of the best Chuletons in Spain. We ate 40+ Chuleton on our months long trip and went back here most nights we were in Gexto. We especially liked the little grill they brought us to cook the steak a tiny bit longer. Fries and peppers were great as was the rioja selection. As with most of Spain, don’t expect to eat before 9:00pm thought we showed up at 8 and the chefs hadn’t yet arrived.

The owner of Itxas bide taberna was unsure if the sea existed prior to the restaurant's establishment. Despite this, laughter filled the air as patrons enjoyed a surpassing culinary experience. The fish was top-notch and the service excellent, all at an affordable price. This highly recommended and picturesque place offers a pleasant terrace, delectable pinxos/tapas, and an impressive assortment of local beers and wines.
This place had some of the best croquettes I had while visiting Bilbao on my 4 day trip. After visiting most of Bilbao it was recommended to see the beach area and I am so glad. I stumbled across this location due to having some mid-day hunger. I was recommended the croquettes and the Jamon. You can't go wrong with the selection it was great. Plus for the price and quality I thought I was great.

GURE ETXEA JATETXEA and TABERNA is an incredible and welcoming establishment located on a pedestrian street in Romo, conveniently close to Areeta metro. The restaurant offers excellent cuisine of high quality, accompanied by top-notch service. With the choice of a small dining room or the option to dine on the terrace, it provides a cozy and pleasant atmosphere for customers.
There is an English menu and a Spanish one but on the English one the prices are smaller than the Spanish one but the real ones are the Spanish ones.
Helene D — Google review
The menu is only available in Spanish, the waiter tried to explain the dishes, but it was very hard to communicate with him. What we found extremely negative is his pushing and selling dishes to us, although we have already decided what to eat. This paired with his bad English skills resulted in us two getting 2(!) appetizers for two persons, which doesn't make sense to be honest- we had ordered one and he kept pushing and explaining as if the second one was the addition to our main course. He recommended us great wines though. The food itself... They strive to position themselves as a fine dining establishment, which with time it will definitely be... BUT! The meat served was of excellent quality, but the details and lastly the charcoal burned aroma of what they considered to be something extra ruined the whole meat experience. The aroma was so overwhelmingly present it stayed in the nose and was just off on the palate. The fish and clams were also good, but my boyfriend had stomach ache (+something else) starting in the night and the whole day after that and had to stay in the hotel room. The Tuna-tartare was amazingly good 👍 While some dishes were amazing by itself, they try to overengineer and fancy them up. I hope they find that good balance.

This is local classic bar and restaurant located on a pedestrian street in Romo not far from Areeta metro. There are tables outside as well as in the bar and the comedic. Romonis the less posh neighbour of Las Arenas so often the bars and restaurants are less pretentious.

(Translated by Google) The food was delicious, and the quality of the food was good, but I'm sorry it's very, very, very expensive. The menu price was €31.50. I can't give more stars to what we ate for that price... a delicious burger, but nothing else to write home about, four anchovies... well, everything was delicious, but not for that price. Using the holiday excuse, I think they inflated the price, but I insist, it wasn't a menu commensurate with the price, neither for the holiday season, nor for the quantity, nor for the dishes...

(Translated by Google) We went for lunch with four people. The service was excellent. The table couldn't have been better positioned, and the food was exquisite: foie gras, wagyu cured meat, and salad as starters. We ordered tuna belly for four, and for dessert, rice pudding and French toast. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS, very tasty, and the presentation of the dishes was also very good. What I dislike the most is being charged for bread and tap water. I know all restaurants do this, but for me, this is a point I should deduct.

(Translated by Google) A wonderful place! We went looking for a quiet and relaxing place to celebrate a special occasion. The place has few tables, and the day we went, there weren't many reservations, so we had dinner in a very intimate atmosphere. What we liked most was the service from the dining room staff; they had a very elegant attitude and spoke very softly. The food was superb, all from the head waiter's recommendation. I'm not a fan of sweetbreads, especially if they're not breaded, but the ones they grilled for us were spectacular. The squid was fresh and magnificent. And the meat, the flank steak, was very tender. The only drawback... they charged us for the bread, and it was just two small, badly cut pieces. And I'm not a big fan of charging for "KM 0" water, which is still tap water. A place we'll definitely return to, but without ordering bread or water. 😅 (Original) Un lugar maravilloso! 😅

We were interested in trying out the recently opened bar and restaurant located next to the "Puente colgante" and it turned out to be a great decision. We enjoyed a delicious dinner for three, starting with some tender "percebes" followed by a generous serving of grilled prawns. The highlight of our meal was the perfectly cooked whole Rodaballo which was truly exceptional. Jorge, the manager, treated us to some high-quality house white wine that paired wonderfully with the fish.
We stopped here after walking the coastal path before crossing the bridge. We had the set menu, which was excellent value, consisting of 2 courses and a bottle of wine for €20 per person. I had a monkfish starter topped with ‘angulas’ ( baby eels) called ‘elvers’ in England, and grilled sea bream. My wife had a basque tuna stew and entrecôte & chips. The food and wine was absolutely superb, as was the service, the staff were very helpful and friendly. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

(Translated by Google) With how well they have always spoken to me about this place and it has been a long time since I asked, but now I won't repeat. Ali Oli burger and fries disaster. The hamburger looks like a sandwich with the "wheat sourdough bread" it is a pre-cooked and raw bread that I don't know how you are able to sell that without baking... In allergens we clearly put 2 hamburgers without tomato and one without onion and you have done the same What you wanted could be something quite dangerous.... This is how you take care of your clients. They didn't arrive with cutlery either, so we had to have potatoes for dinner with almost no sauce, giant and expensive potatoes, which were a bit unfortunate to share and were more raw than the aforementioned bread... The only positive thing I have is the treatment of the delivery man and the meat . For the rest, you leave a lot to be desired and can improve with 3 stupid things... And the first is the desire with which you make dinner for someone else, I would like to see you eating what you sell (Original) Con lo bien que me han hablado siempre de este sitio y hacia mucho que no pedía pero ya si que no repito.

(Translated by Google) We ordered the menu of the day and had a bad experience. The grade I give it is due to the food, first we ordered "black rice with cuttlefish and aioli". It wasn't even close to the basic definition of the dish (it was white rice with ink on top), all accompanied by a jarred aioli of fairly poor quality to complete the whole. For the main course we ordered beef stew and, although better than the first, it didn't manage to take away our dislike of the first course because it didn't have the homemade touch we expected. With dessert more of the same. In general, from our point of view, prefabricated ones are abused.

From the bar you can see how the cook finishes your pizza, I saw how he removed burnt pieces or removed “things” from what I was going to put in my mouth. A shame; It seemed to me to be the reference pizzeria in Algorta. Neither my friends nor my family will eat at Toto again, at least not at Algorta.

(Translated by Google) We ordered the Emiliana pizza and it was delicious, the combination of ingredients was perfect. The only drawback was that it had few cherry tomatoes and the dough was a little burnt, but it tasted spectacular. As for delivery, it was extremely fast; the pizza arrived in 15 minutes. On the downside, I would highlight that the pizza arrived cold despite the speedy delivery.

(Translated by Google) We really liked the food and the service. The octopus was a bit tough, the artichokes with mushrooms were very delicious and the sirloin was perfect to the order. We would like to try the terrace outside. (Original) Nos gustó mucho la comida y la atención. El pulpo un pelín duro, las alcachofas con setas muy ricas y el solomillo perfecto en el punto pedido. Nos gustaría probar la terraza de fuera.
