Fabulous Italian Restaurant in Las Arenas. 5 of us had lunch and were not disappointed. Each of the dishes were freshly prepared and cooked to perfection. Service was excellent along with the wine. Paid approx €32/person but well worth it. Strongly recommend this restaurant. Andrea and his staff are excellent 👌🏻

Bad value for money, not a place for sushi enthusiasts. All pieces have mayonnaise or sauces that don’t let you enjoy the taste of a sushi piece. Also service is not good, looks like a sushi artist but they bill 50€ per person. Won’t be coming back nor recommend it to anyone who likes sushi.

Excellent place after a walk in Getxo. The are is buzzing with people drinking and eating outdoors, authentic Basque culture on a sunny winter Sunday. One of the best gildas we've tasted during our trip.

This restaurant is located in the north of Bilbao near the sea. It is a fusion of local flavors with Taiwanese, Hong Kong and Chinese styles. All the waiters were very friendly and helpful, and the owner, Alicia from Taiwan, was very welcoming and willing to talk to all the customers. We ordered a rice dish, a noodle dish and two fried dishes. All the dishes tasted good and the portions were large enough for about four adults to share. We ended up paying around 56 euros, which is very affordable. This is an Asian restaurant that has been open for decades in the area, in a quiet neighborhood and serving mostly locals. We hope that the next time we visit Bilbao, we will come back to this restaurant to try the Taiwanese beef noodles that the owner recommended.

A delightful culinary experience We tried the Omakase menu (a sampling of 8 different dishes) which, while being light and healthy, had not a single "weak" dish. The menu consisted of, obviously, authentic Japanese food and the desserts, specially the Ice cream, were fantastic. The local is cosy and has a relaxing atmosphere with an excellent service that provided explanations for every single step of the meal. If you are thinking about visiting the restaurant, which we heavily recommend to anyone open to new experiences or to someone who knows about Japanese foods, I suggest you make a reservation in advance and clear a couple of hours of your schedule to enjoy the pace. I honestly cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. I had the 8-dish omakase and every plate was delicious, thoughtful and full of personality. The flow of the menu felt creative and refined while still being light and easy to enjoy. The produce is of the highest quality and treated with real care. You can tell the chefs are not just cooking but creating an experience. The service is another highlight. Everyone is genuine, welcoming and clearly committed to making guests feel taken care of. What makes it even more special is the value for money. It is rare these days to find a place where you get this level of food, service and atmosphere at such a fair price. So this place is ok, but not amazing. I think for Asian food in Spain it's good, but you can't compare it to Japanese food in Japan or my home town of Brighton, England. We started with a California style sushi which was very nice. I then had what I came here for, the pork broth ramen, which was very disappointing. There wasn't enough broth, you had to dig down through the ramen noodle to find it. And the broth itself was very poor, not nearly rich and creamy enough, and the fat was separated at the surface which it shouldn't be. The boiled egg centre was dry and overcooked, not soft as it should be, and not finished in soya sauce either. I was really hoping to find good pork ramen locally but I will have to keep looking or just make it at home. We also had the Chinese style duck which wasn't like the usual Peking duck, it was just breast meat, but the skin was crispy and the flavour was fine, though not enough pancakes or veggies with it. As it's so local we'll probably go back and try some other things. The owners are very sweet too.

We had amazing experience with Hoshino 👍🏻 the food was amazing, we took a set of sushi, traditional yaki soba and rice with eel, the food was amazing, the best sushi we tried for a long time. Service was super quick and in combination with super reasonable pricing - I highly recommend to visit this place. Wish you all the luck and we will be happy to come back next time.

The check-in host Xavier was extremely kind, helpful, and gave us many suggestions for things to do in the area. Our rooms were spacious, comfortable, and clean. The breakfast service was very affordable and had many delicious options and parking was also reasonable. We really enjoyed the direct access to the pier and being able to walk around, as well as the proximity to Bilbao. We would definitely recommend Embarcadero and would stay here again. Thank you!

We had a superior suite with sea views and only the view was perfect. NO WiFi coverage in a room and problems with mobile coverage, NO hair dryer and coffee cups (though there is a coffee machine). One can hear (and see) everything what’s going on in a bathroom, so if you are not too intimate with your partner it can cause certain inconvenience. The bathroom itself needs deep anti cal and some anti mold cleaning. The room was clean, the bed comfortable (though they use sheets instead of duvet covers. Hope everything gets desinfected after each client). The guys at the restaurant were really nice, helping to choose perfect wine. The breakfast was good as well. We had a stop at Bilbao for one night and we stayed at the hotel nearby tamarises restaurant. We ordered the cuttlefish, cod and burger. The 3 dishes were really good. The food at this restaurant is highly recommended (it is not cheap though). We were sitting at the terrace and we had 2 problems. One was the people smoking and it was very annoying. I understand that it is outside but it is still covered and people are close. In Canada at restaurants, smoking is not allowed even outside. The other issue was the service. It was slow a bit and the waiter changed 3 times for our table.

Worst meal in 5 trips to Spain. We had a 9p reservation. The appetizer fish was not fresh. The peppers on side were burnt. I at less than 1/2 the dish. No questions asked on how it was. Large bar and restaurant. Downstairs is the bar area which also has tables. The bar has a good range of pintxos. Upstairs is the "comedor" (restaurant) where there is menu del dia during the week and special menus at the weekend. Staff are very pleasant and helpful.

It doesn’t look much from the outside but the food was really tasty. The goat cheese salad was absolutely gorgeous and the zamburinas were also great. The potatoes were very spicy 🥵 but good!

After a walk along the long beach promenade in Getxo I fancied a sit down and a snack. I started looking for bars that offered a vast array of Pintxos and decided on this place and I'm glad I did! :) I walked in and my eyes were presented with more savoury bar treats than I could of imagined! I went for 5 different pieces (at €1 each) both meat and seafood ones and they were all amazing, but especially the jamón ones...I could of gone back for more but held back! So, if you want a true taste of Basque Pintxo delights then definitely check out this place if you're in the area! I was that impressed I had to give it 5 stars! ;D

I stumbled across this pintxos bar in Instagram, thought I'd give it a go, and I can tell you that it did not dissapoint. There are a lot of pintxos to choose from and the service was super friendly. With Jai Alai and El Globo, it's hard to make a choice in which I prefer. Definitely my current top 2 pintxo bars in Bilbao. Lovely quaint place in the sea fishing village part of Algorta. Fantastic food, good wine, in a family run restaurant. Best fish dishes I had in years. We were having a celebration and everyone was delighted with the food, even has a few meat dishes for those that don't fancy fish. Desserts were nice too.

Great restaurant to enjoy fish (fish that was caught earlier in the day). Intimate atmosphere, so it is a great place for a date or to celebrate something special. Several bars are around, if you want to continue in a more casual mode after a great meal at the restaurant. Expect to spend 60 EUR per person including appetizers, drinks and dessert that will accompany your main course.

We went for a few drinks around this area and ended up here for food. The service was great, really helpful and friendly but the food wasnt worth the price. I had the ocotpus at about €22 which was delicious, but the sides and sauce on the plate were way to salty and ehe oil flavour on the food was also not great, tasted like a really cheap olive oil. The starter, the meat platter for €20 was really good though.

This place is amazing. We have been 5 times already, and every time, the kitchen nails it. The flavor is insanely good every time we go. As a local, we will keep going, and we have high standards, but it never disappoints. For us, the best place to eat ANYWHERE IN GETXO

Had an amazing vegan 5 courses lunch, flavors were really good and we overall really enjoyed the experience. Will come again for sure!

We hopped in for an impromptu luncheon and were very much impressed by the quality of the dishes! Scallops, ceviche, baos with chorizo plus amazing desserts. The kids menu is also quite fancy offering, amongst other dishes, mini tuna steaks, pan fried tomatoes and potatoes as well as nachos with a delicious homemade cheese dip. Add an extremely friendly kitchen and service crews plus very fair priced wines and cocktails, this neighborhood spot is a solid 10/10!

Everything was outstanding: Ceviche, Butterfish, Torrija dessert. It was a flavor rollercoaster. You will not be disappointed!

Yeah this wasn’t a good experience. We walked in at around 10:30 and were met with a waiter that was reluctant to seat us because they were full. There was about 3 tables seated, one of which was clearly finished, and the others had already been served. We insisted as we were very hungry and it was the only option open at that time in the area. We were served a starter of empanadas. Just one. For two people. That’s all. He said they couldn’t serve us anything else, but we were so hungry we accepted. And the worst thing was, out of all 4 empanadas, only one was half decent, the rest were just pasty, way to salty and dry.

We had a great time at Dando la Brasa. The service was lovely, the tuna and rib eye were extraordinary and so well served. You recognize when food is done with heart and soul in this is one of those places. We loved the Friday night bar and restaurant atmosphere. Great table neighbours as well...

Pintxueta (basically small steak) was magnificent, zamburinas was insane and pulpo was pretty great. Pair it with local cider and just enjoy your time

We found this little gem after a visit at the Getxo Portugalete bridge. We ordered the pulpo and the fresh zamburiñas and we ate like true kings 👑. Great food combined with wine amd beer! We enjoyed a lovely afternoon at this place!

Lovely hotel; elegant long-established building, large well-appointed rooms, with extra-large and very comfortable beds and good-sized en-suites, good simple decor and kept immaculately clean - although with such a generally high standard it was disappointing that the pop-up plug in the sink didn’t work! The staff - front desk and housekeeping - were friendly and helpful. The only disadvantage is the Hotel’s lack of catering, meaning there is no room service - surprising for a 4* hotel. The two catering outlets on site (that, from their menus, seem to share a kitchen) seem to run as independent operations. They offer great views, and the bar and terrace bar are excellent places for a drink … however the breakfast offering included far the worst Cafe con Letche encountered in 24 days in Spain, and was otherwise unremarkable; I’d suggest the 9-minute walk along the sea front to Itxas Bide where you’ll pay less for a better breakfast! [We didn’t eat here, so I can’t comment on the lunch/dinner options, but to be fair those we saw looked pretty good.]

The only thing this place had going for it was the location and the views that come with it. The staff were just nice enough. Other than this the hotel promises so much more and delivers so little. The list of what this place has to offer is so much shorter than what this place does not have going for it. The hallways are dirty and smelly like animals( even though the property advertise that pets are not allowed) the carpet have questionable stains in the hallways) outside the hotel an unbearable stench of rotten fish like smell emits from goodness knows where. The hotel provides no breakfast not even any water or place to buy a drink. The hotel does not even attempt to provide any facilities in the room in terms of kettle/iron/or drinks in the fridge. We stayed in the basic priced £314.00 for 4 nights with a garden view. I believe that this is an unjustifiable charge for the lack of facilities on offer. I cannot understand how they justify a charge of over £700 per night for a room with a sea view when they offer no facilities (no breakfast, no bar of coffee shop.) they might say they don’t offer food as there is a restaurant on the ground floor which is independent and not accessible through the hotel but rather from the outside (sea front promenade) The AC does not work, and the room gets too hot at night. When you open the windows to let air in you are bitten to death by mosquitoes and have to put up with the fish like smell. We left disappointed and robbed of our money and worse of than that with arms and legs and face full of mosquito bites. The only thing you are getting for the amount you pay is a roof over your head and a bed to sleep in. not worth the money.

The staff are also very friendly and clearly try their best with what they have. I genuinely appreciated their warm attitude and willingness to help. However, that’s where the good news ends. The hotel itself is in a very poor state of maintenance. Rooms are outdated. Fixtures are broken or worn out, and the entire place feels neglected. This is simply not up to four-star standards by any stretch of the imagination. From mold in the bathrooms to thin, uncomfortable mattresses, every aspect of the accommodation was disappointing. Public areas such as the lobby also appear tired and under-cared for. Even basic amenities that are standard in any decent hotel — let alone a four-star — were either lacking or substandard. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway, this is not the place to stay. The location might draw you in, but the reality of the hotel will quickly ruin any hopes of a restful vacation. Until serious renovations and upgrades are made, I cannot recommend this hotel.

Very disappointing dinner. This place is essentially a canteen that charges fine dining prices. The interior is completely unremarkable and the place only had 2 busy tables apart from ours on Wednesday evening, and there is a reason for that - their food is pretty underwhelming. The skin of the octopus was separating and resembled melting slime. It was clearly cooked incorrectly or reheated. The bred crust was so hard you could cut all your gums. The fish was alright but extremely basic and boring presentation. The portions are typically bigger than an average person can eat. I suggest you share one fish dish. English is not spoken in this place and menus are Spanish only. I have to conclude that this place offers terrible value for money and you can find Michelin star quality dinner for this price elsewhere, in Bilbao. Not coming back here.

My girlfriend and I both had our best fish ever here. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the food very good. Some reviews write about high prices, but I disagree, you can eat here (and be full) for just 12 to 15 euros if you want! They do have more exclusive fish, all fresh, if you have more money to spend. We spent 70 euro including tip and wine for a starter and two large main courses. Tip: come early, the place fills up at around nine and opens at eight thirty.

I wanted to try the famous chuletón steak and was pleasantly surprised to find that in Getxo there are fine dining places open until late. What amazed me even more was the steak menu itself — ours included carpaccio, grilled mushrooms, and a bottle of wine. The steak was absolutely divine! You even get the chance to finish grilling it yourself to your preferred doneness on a small tabletop grill. Because of that, I’d recommend choosing a table on the terrace when ordering this dish. Service was fast and attentive — a truly memorable experience.

I had a terrible time in this place. The waiter was kind of rude and the food tasteless. I had menu del dia for 11,50 euros. First plate: arroz abanda. Second plate: mero a la plancha. The rice was overcooked and the fish totally tasteless. Dessert was weird also (natanillas de chocolate).

I love this place as it's a simple blue collar €11 menu del dia restaurant and also a la carte has some great dishes including some classics from the past, amazing fresh fish, great meat and probably the best and most interesting wine cellars. A family restaurant with both sons serving front of house with an amazing knowledge of the food, wines and beers they serve. Decor is very old school kitch with paper table clothes which I hope never changes. A hidden unique gem.

The service was extremely slow, had to get up a few times to get their attention and the server came after 30 minutes with a bad look on his face, didn’t even want to repeat the menu options and was annoyed (this was the case for every single server in that place). After a +700€ bill, they didn’t even have the decency to offer a small digestive shot at the end of lunch, getting out to the parking to scream at us to pay when the 2 people who took them left (6€ out of the whole bill).

The atmosphere was pleasant and the food was quite good. Good portion sizes and a decent price for dinner (an even better price for the menu del día). The service was less than stellar, as we were forgotten amongst a restaurant with only 2 other occupied tables. Also IVA (taxes) was not included in the menu prices like 99 percent of the restaurants in Spain. So it hurt a bit to see it on the bill. Definitely not a bad place to get Asian food in Bilbao though.

Service was unattentive and forgot us quite often. We asked for the bill at the end 3 times until they came (30mins) The Burger was bland, not seasoned well and also came without any condiment. No ketchup or mayo, a quite dry affair. The fries were soggy and dripping in fat. The Appetizer Tacos on the other hand were drowned in Mayo and Avocado Sauce, too bad because the meat filling seemed quite nice. My Wifes entrecote was a sad story, just the piece of meat slapped on the plate with like 6 soggy fries. The waitress did not know what a medium-rare steak was, even after googling it in spanish (Término medio o en su punto) the steak came pretty much raw. For nearly 20€ you could expect them to know how to cook a steak and ask how you like it done.

We had a nice lunch in july 2015 at Boga. They have a quiet terrace at the back of the restaurant. The created an extra place for the 5 of us an some protection against the sun too. The serve Fresh fish as well as good beef. Nothing to complain about.

This was our favourite restaurant of our time in Bilbao! We ordered their professional menu del día and it didn’t disappoint. It was 20€ per person. Each plate was delicious and the wine we had with lunch was wonderful. Service started a bit slow but there were only two working and it was VERY busy, but that didn’t take away from The atmosphere or our meal. The restaurant is tucked away among some really lovely back streets up in the hills off the beach. Worth going to see the area. 100% recommend!

One of the best Chuletons in Spain. We ate 40+ Chuleton on our months long trip and went back here most nights we were in Gexto. We especially liked the little grill they brought us to cook the steak a tiny bit longer. Fries and peppers were great as was the rioja selection. As with most of Spain, don’t expect to eat before 9:00pm thought we showed up at 8 and the chefs hadn’t yet arrived.
