Lynmouth, a charming village in Devon, England, is nestled on the northern edge of Exmoor and is known for its picturesque location at the confluence of the West Lyn and East Lyn rivers. The village sits 700 feet below Lynton and offers stunning natural beauty. One of the highlights of visiting Lynmouth is taking a ride on the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway, providing an exhilarating vertical journey between the two towns with breathtaking views along the way.

The Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway is a remarkable water-powered railway that has been in operation since 1890. It holds the title of being the highest and steepest fully water-powered railway globally, using water from the West Lyn River to power its cars. The three-minute journey offers stunning views of the North Devon coast, making it a unique and memorable experience for visitors.
Great experience and some great views around the railway. Lining up may take some time as it is very popular, well worth s ride down the cliff to the bottom and then a nice area to walk around. Payments are taken at the bottom when you get off if you started at the top.
Alexander K — Google review
Loved the ride up and views beautiful. But it was very diffwalking back down. Its SO steep and no hand rails or such to support the very steep decline. Next time would take the ride back down. The shops are so quaint and it's very beautiful place to visit. We enjoyed it.The bay where the boats sit and the harbour are all lovely.Delicous ice cream parlours and plenty of Cafes or Pubs.
Sharon W — Google review
Lynton & Lynmouth a hidden gem on the North Devon coast that completely exceeded my expectations. Perched above the picturesque village of Lynmouth & Lynton offers stunning views, old-world charm, and a peaceful atmosphere that’s perfect for a relaxing getaway. The towns are full of character — from its historic buildings and quaint tea rooms to local art galleries and independent shops. It feels like stepping back in time, but with all the modern comforts you need. The streets are quiet, clean, and welcoming, and the locals are incredibly friendly and helpful. One of the highlights of my visit was the famous Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway – a unique water-powered funicular that connects the two villages. The ride offers beautiful views over the cliffs and sea and is a fun experience for all ages. Another must-visit spot is Valley of Rocks, just a short walk from Lynton. The scenery there is absolutely breathtaking. There are plenty of walking trails, coastal paths, and cosy cafes to enjoy. Whether you’re into hiking, photography, or just want to unwind, Lynton & Lynmouth is an ideal destination. I left feeling refreshed, inspired, and already planning my next visit. Highly recommended for nature lovers and anyone wanting a peaceful escape by the sea.

Always love a visit here. The conductor on the railway was super kind with my 3 dogs (one of whom is blind). We had a lovely day and fab pasties (ofc). Sad I didn't get to try the vegan lobster tho, maybe next year.
Louise M — Google review
This is a treasure! There's a lovely cafe at the top that serves huge scones with jam and cream, then you board the little train to descend from Lynton down to Lynmouth. The staff are friendly and the whole experience is charming. Definitely worth a visit for all the family including doggos 😊
Caroline M — Google review
Nice quick and easy way to go from one to the other. Views are amazing. Staff are friendly. Little souvenir in the box where you get tickets. Card payment only.
Annie C — Google review
The Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway is a true gem — charming, nostalgic, and surprisingly peaceful. The ride itself is short but absolutely delightful, offering breathtaking views over the coastline as you glide up and down between the two villages. It’s a lovely mix of old-world charm and clever engineering — powered entirely by water, which makes the experience feel even more magical. Both Lynton and Lynmouth have their own unique feel, and the railway is the perfect connection between them. Whether you’re into history, views, or just a wholesome experience, this little journey is a must. I could honestly ride it again and again . It’s one of those rare places that just makes you smile Tickets under £4

Nestled in the charming town of Lynton, Lynton Cinema is a delightful gem that stands out as one of the smallest cinemas in the UK. Housed in a beautifully restored former Methodist Chapel, this quaint venue offers an intimate setting with just 68 seats, making it perfect for cozy family outings or romantic date nights. Located conveniently next to the Town Hall and near the iconic Cliff Railway, it screens a mix of contemporary blockbusters and beloved classics throughout the week.
Absolutely lovely and charming small cinema. £5 a ticket and snacks and drinks are amazingly priced (all under £1.50). Very friendly welcome, professional screening, perfect quirky evening! Thank you!
Lee M — Google review
What a fantastic cinema!!!! Full of character. Deceptively comfortable seats. Friendly staff. Cosy. Reasonable. We will definitely be going again. Best cinema EVER!
Stimpy G — Google review
Super cinema, not only are the prices VERY reasonable but you feel genuinely welcomed and can tell the owners take great pride in what they do (eg. checking everyone is happy for the film to start!). The seats are comfortable and the picture/sound is better than many of the big national cinemas. The snacks are sold at supermarket prices too. £19 for a family of four plus three bags of sweets and two drinks! A welcome throwback to a time when it wasn't all about profit, places like this need to be kept afloat at all costs!
Nathan S — Google review
A perfect cinema: small, friendly, comfortable seats and shows a decent selection of blockbusters and independent films. I was staying in Lynton for one night and went to see 'The ballad of Wallis Island.' Only £5 a ticket! I got show to my seat by the usherette, something that hasn't happened since about 1985. A wonderful place, I wish I lived closer.
James M — Google review
Fantastic little cinema with the original ticket machine. We even had the whole theatre to ourselves.
Andy W — Google review
I really loved this night out in this tiny but very cozy cinema. We were advised to reserve a ticket on forhand and so.we did. Very friendly owners Who guided us to our seat, which was reserved for us. We went to see a Tom Cruise movie, which was awful... it had nothing to do ofcourse with this particular cinema.
Pascal J — Google review
Been to this cinema every time I come to Lynton. It is a beautiful old cinema and good to support it. The cheap prices and snacks.
Edward W — Google review
What can we say about this amazing little cinema. It was like stepping back i time when going to the cinema was a real treat. Really well run, friendly, clean local cinema. Great value entrance fee and treats. It really won't break the bank. And best of all ... it's dog friendly and they were so accommodating. This was our second visit while holidaying in Dunster over the past 2 years and it will always be a fond favourite.

Tucked away in the charming streets of Lynton, the Lyn and Exmoor Museum is a treasure trove of local history housed in one of the village's oldest buildings. This delightful museum showcases an array of exhibits that delve into maritime and railway heritage, agriculture, and everyday life from yesteryears. Visitors can explore seven distinct rooms filled with captivating collections including paintings, photographs chronicling 200 years of local events, agricultural tools, and artifacts from a traditional Exmoor kitchen.
Excellent little museum in Lynton telling many stories of the past. Lots to see and read up on and watch out for the museum ghost 👻 Lady on the entrance is a fountain of knowledge
Jim H — Google review
A quaint little museum which used to house two families at a time, has stairs to part of the exhibition which is not recommended for people with accessibility issues. However, it was interesting and very good value for money. Also, the man working there was very friendly and knowledgeable. Well worth a visit.
MELANIE B — Google review
Lovely local museum set in middle of town and one of the oldest buildings in Lynton. £3 for adults and 50p for kids. Well worth a visit.
Corinne V — Google review
We were not expecting to find a place like this in Lynton, but we spotted the sign and decided to pay a visit. Apparently the oldest domestic dwelling in town, with quirky but fascinating exhibits covering life in times past, and especially the impact of the 1952 flooding. It was made more interesting by the museum curator/caretaker who escorted us on a 30 minute tour, and brought the museum to life, and livened up the proceedings by relating the story of the dwelling's resident ghost. A nice diversion from the usual tourist activities.
Jeff H — Google review
Great little museum, lots of history of the local area and fascinating tales of events with the local community. Definitely worth popping in if you're in the area.

Historic Walking Areas
Glen Lyn Gorge is a must-visit attraction located at the top of Lynton, offering stunning views and access to the South West Coast Path leading to the impressive Valley of Rocks. For those who prefer a more leisurely experience, a woodland river trek along the East Lyn River to Watersmeet provides an opportunity to explore former fishing lodges turned information centers and tea rooms. Additionally, visitors can enjoy kayaking on the river for a different perspective.
What a lovely little spot in the valley by the ocean. Parking was very nice with bathrooms very closeby and a short walk to thw village by the ocean. We had a nice time despite the rain. 😊
John J — Google review
The museum was interesting, and the water jets were extremely powerful. A steep but short walk, and we were at the waterfalls. They are nice but didn't really have the wow factor. It costs £10 per adult, and we were there for about 15 minutes. Bearing in mind, there is a free to enter flood exhibition inside the memorial hall down the road, and you can see the water jets and the lower part of the waterfalls from the road the entrance price was very expensive! The best part was the rainbow created by the water jets. If the admission was less, then yes, it would be worth a visit, but sadly, we felt a little ripped off 🙁
Paula — Google review
Wow. This is beautiful. We were in the town to go on the fancy cliff railway and saw some jets of water and curious, wandered over. Spoke to some lovely lady in her little hut and paid of fee and we were off. There is a room to visit with lots of historic information along with a wealth of information on climate change and high is all fascinating. There’s a few interactive features there too, along with the aforementioned water jets. But the main facture was a walk along the stream. There’s lots of places to stop and quite a few picnic benches so I would recommend eating you lunch here. Just ensure you take your rubbish home! It gets quite steep and slippy in places, so take care, but don’t let this stop you. Go and se what this little gem has to offer. Our favourite place in little corner of the world, which is saying something. Stunning.
Robert R — Google review
Had a lovely afternoon walking around the Glen lyn gorge. We didn't make it all the way to the top, it's definitely a hike 😂 but the views of the falls are amazing, and the history behind them is top tier! Not for the infirm but an amazing view we'll worth the hike.
Zoe-Marie G — Google review
What a fantastic place to go and see so many water falls and water jets I walked all the falls spent hours there.
Ray O — Google review
Love these two little villages , lots to see, eat and shop!
Charlene K — Google review
Wow.. what a brilliant and stunning place to visit. We arrived and where greated by a really nice guy. We where given a guide for free as this was our first visit. He explained a bit about Glen Lyn Gorge and the history around it. After looking in the museum at the start of the glen lyn, we started the walk, surrounded by waterfalls and stunning scenery and it was breathtaking. There where several ways down to the falls, where we able to really take in the sheer beauty. The walk was a little hilly but alot of fun. This gorgeous place should definitely be on your list of "MUST DOs" while here in lynton & Lynmouth.
Tara W — Google review
Most beautiful place to visit. To go and see the waterfalls and history about the the place it will cost £7 per adult and £3 per child. It's a good trek and fun with kids. Person who runs the place is very friendly and knows so much about the history of Devon. Ask him best nearby places and you'll find some gems along the way.

Wow! What a little gem of a place! Beautiful food, great atmosphere and fabulous staff. We managed to get a last minute booking after debating where to eat for most of the afternoon!! What a lovely relaxed restaurant, the two people running this place are amazing, very attentive, but not intrusive, they made you feel very welcome. The food was amazing and all at a relaxed pace. I really can't rate this highly enough. A very good dinning experience with Spanish food that everyone will love.

Nartnapa Thai Kitchen is a delightful Thai restaurant located within a 17th-century inn near the river Lyn in Lynton and Lynmouth. The eatery offers an authentic taste of Thai street food, with dishes like Pork Green Curry, Vegetable Pad Thai, and Jasmine Rice. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with friendly staff and a lively bar area. Visitors can enjoy the wonderful flavors of traditional Thai cuisine while savoring the charming ambiance of this gem of a restaurant.
We ate at this beautiful Thai restaurant during our stay in Lynmouth. Service and food were incredible. Certainly not too be missed, roaring log burner greeted us together with lovely friendly staff. The food was up there with the best Thai food. Would certainly recommend and will definitely be returning.
Dawn M — Google review
Ordered a takeaway while stopping in Lynmouth and wasn’t sure what to expect but I have to say it was absolutely delicious. We had the Thai Green curry which was full of flavour . Thoroughly recommend
Lee W — Google review
Excellent Thai food! Every time we come to Lynton & Lynmouth we always make sure we eat here at least once. Sometimes we eat in but also make use of the takeaway option. This family favourite never fails to deliver and the staff are incredibly friendly.
Luke E — Google review
The food is delicious. Amazing taste. Great location next to the river and good layout for the tables. It is a popular place with bookings and takeaways. It was a former pub which srill retains a small bar area which adds to the appeal. There is also large sofa by a wood burner. It is a very relaxed place with good service, considering the popularity waiting for food can be longer. The food is a winner with all the flavours. The menu is on point, not extensive and caters for vegetarians. Perhaps a little premium in price but if you are in the Lynemouth area this restaurant is worth visiting.
William B — Google review
Nartnapa was a wonderful find! My friend and I were staying the night just next to the restaurant, at Sunny Lyn Holiday Park, while hiking the South West Coast Path. Having walked 20 miles that day, we didn't want to have to walk down (and up again) the big hill into Lynmouth, so we took a chance and popped our heads in at Nartnapa to see if they could fit us in for dinner that night. We were greeted with smiling faces and confirmation that they could seat us. The ambience was happy yet calm, with lots of other satisfied customers already enjoying their food. Our meals were delicious (prawn green curry and pad Thai), and the sticky toffee puddings afterwards really hit the spot. This restaurant is more than just "convenient if staying at Sunny Lyn" - it would be worth a special trip just to enjoy the menu and friendly service.
James F — Google review
We had a recommendations to go to this restaurant, unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations. The place was dirty, the window had cobwebs and dead bugs on the window sill, when we walked in no one was around to greet us, bar felt like deserted. The staff were stressed with only a few tables occupied, the food wasn’t good the spring rolls were tasteless and the curry was watery and the only taste was raw chilli, could not eat it and returned it. The noodle stir fry was very salty, it had raw red onion and raw pepper. Very disappointed. Would not recommend.
Nina H — Google review
Had a lovely Thai meal here in what used to be an old pub. Lovely Thai lady cooking who was very friendly and sweet. Food was tasty and not spicy.
Yvonne P — Google review
Lovely location and pub. The staff went above and beyond for my onion allergy and made me feel a lot more confident about eating out again! I had the chicken stir fry with ginger sauce, one of the best I've ever had! Thank you to everyone at Nartnapa :)

The Lynton Toy Museum is a small museum and shop that features toys, games, and figurines from the 1960s to 1990s. The museum also has a little toyshop next door where you can buy vintage toys and collectibles. The toy museum is a great place for parents to take their children who will love the large selection of toys and games on display.
Excellent museum remembering all your favourite toys from your childhood. Massive collection and an extremely friendly owner
Jim H — Google review
Friendly owner, detailed displays with a brief history of the toy. A walk back through time showing a lot of the action figures, especially, linked to movies and the tv shows (who knew Bonanza had action figures?). Only £2 for adults and £1 for under-16s. I was happy to pay that.
James M — Google review
The Lynton toy and museum shop is brilliant, the museum is very interesting, it makes you go back in time to your childhood and the toys that you would have played when you were a child. It is 2 pounds to get in to the museum which is reasonable price. The shop is lovely for children and hearing children choosing a toy, it's a lovely sound to hear.
Lisa M — Google review
Well worth the £2 entrance fee. Buckets of nostalgia as I finally saw for real the contents of my Christmas lists of the 80's and 90's.
Andrew R — Google review
Amazing museum. Visited with my sister and 9 year old son. Me and my sister kept just saying “wow”, “we had that”, “ forgot about that”, “amazing”, was absolutely fabulous to travel back in time via toys. My son was amazed at the things we enjoyed as children his age! My son’s favourite part was the Lego displays and he really enjoyed hunting for the Lego mini figures that didn’t belong in the display. Thank you for opening your collection for us all to see and enjoy.

We arrived in Lynton Devon Monday morning and while we was waiting for the shops to open we found this little gem of a store. When me and Tara walked in it instantly took us back to our childhood as we looked around the items for sale. So many wonderful toys from our childhood highly recommended taking a look around this wonderful store and museum

Nestled within the breathtaking Exmoor National Park, the Valley of Rocks is a captivating destination that beckons adventurers and nature lovers alike. This expansive area is renowned for its stunning prehistoric rock formations and the charming herds of wild goats that roam freely.
The Valley of the Rocks is absolutely breathtaking! The dramatic rock formations are unlike anything I've ever seen - it feels like you're on another planet. The views of the coastline are stunning, and there are plenty of trails to explore. It's a bit of a climb, but totally worth it for the panoramic vistas. The wild goats add a unique charm to the landscape. Just be careful near the edges, as it can get quite windy. If you're in North Devon, this is a must-visit for anyone who loves natural beauty and dramatic scenery!

Really enjoyed our walks! Went up one of the rock faces which was very cool with great views! Also went around both sides of the valley of the rocks! Really beautiful views and my dog loved it too! You can see goats on the cliffs which is so fun! Parking was around £3.60 for 4 hours and that was the perfect amount of time! 😊

Having visited Valley of the Rocks three times, I can honestly say it’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. The rugged cliffs, sweeping ocean views, and the fresh sea breeze create an awe inspiring atmosphere that’s hard to match. Every visit feels like discovering a hidden gem, peaceful, scenic, and absolutely stunning. Whether you're into photography, hiking, or just soaking in nature’s beauty, this place is a must-see. It’s a perfect escape into the wild, natural beauty of the coast⛰️

A great place for nature lovers, but in general for everyone. A good choice for spending time outdoors, especially in a sunny day. The views are very beautiful, there is a lot to do. To walk the whole trail you need a lot of time and preparation, but for this one place a few hours are enough.
Marek ( — Google review
STUNNING! What more can you say. Whether you drive there or walk from the old iron age hillfort the views are breathtaking here. The toilets are free as well which is a bonus. Had a walk upto the sisters on the cliff by the roundabout which was quite strenuous. Lots of different walks going in all different directions. Would definitely recommend wearing good walking shoes though as very stoney. Entertaining to see the feral goats there as well. Just a short walk down past the cliffs though is the Abbey which was worth a visit as well. Recommend if you're in the area
Shaun E — Google review
A Stunning location 👌. Lots of beautiful walks. The Coastal walk was a bit scary because im scared of heights and it was windy. You can play spot the goat. There are many dotted about the Rocks. Only negative is there was only one dog poo bin around the whole area.
Cara C — Google review
Amazing place so close to Lynton! Rugged scenery and some precipitous paths.Plemty of parking and goats as well as a cricket pitch. Some areas were subject to warnings of rock falls. Great coastal views !
Gordon G — Google review
There’s pay and display parking near by with toilets. You can either go on the paved path or go further up on the rocks. The path is not wide and drops steep towards the ocean but there’s plenty of room to pass other people. Be sure to look up while on the path, you might be walking right past or under a goat. When you first spot them they appear to be everywhere. You do t need climbing skills to go off the path and up the rocks but you do need to be in good shape and careful where you step.

The cafe offers a variety of food options including vegetarian, vegan, and meaty dishes along with delectable sweet treats.
We were drawn to the funky bright colours and quirky decor! What a great place to chill and relax. The staff are super friendly. A good selection of Mexican style food as well as cakes and snacks. Although we didn't sample any, the cocktail list was very tempting. We were only passing through but wished we could have stayed for the Mexican night, which looked like fun! The world needs more places like this!

Stopped off in Lynton with the dogs. Great little cafe here at Charlie Fridays. Parked at the large pay and display and just a minutes walk up. We got there for lunch and I had the toastie which was sausage, cheese and chutney and my wife had a bacon, sweetcorn and mixed bean salad, both were excellent and served quickly. Do friendly and would certainly recommend.

Worth a visit. Charming place, lovely food, and super friendly team. We had breakfast and chose Charlie Friday's as it had varied options. We had both meat and veggie breakfasts and all was delicious. Went back for some cake later to take away 😋

Friendly staff soon made us welcome and took our order. The food soon arrived and was delicious. Take away is also an option. We enjoyed the mexican evening and would definitely recommend this cafe. Local cider is available too 👍

Every year, we visit Lynton and Charlie Fridays for cream tea and every year, we love it! Great food, coffee and atmosphere (great music too). Really recommend it.

Lovely little cafe - we went for tea and cake and ended up booking to come back for their Friday Mexican Night. The cake was delicious and there was good choice. The Friday Mexican Night was incredible - proper good home-cooked but restaurant quality food. Would definitely recommend and come back again!

An excellent brunch, with hot and delicious coffee. Staff are friendly and efficient. The decorations are great, and the chairs comfy. Often looks full, but there is more room downstairs so check that if it looks busy.

The Lyn Model Railway is a small museum that is free to enter, and donations are welcome. Inside, you'll find a large model of the 1935-1940 London & North Eastern Railway. Dad used to take me here when I was a kid, and I remember it being an amazing place with wonderful little store. I'm glad it's still open, and I recommend that anyone interested in model railways visit this museum!
What a beautiful rare collection free entry well behaved dogs and please leave a donation. This has been in the family for many may a year well worth a visit. The man is very friendly and full of train knowledge, kids will love this place as much as us adults..
J G — Google review
Every time we used to go through Lynmouth this was an obligatory stop for our railway obsessed son. Entrance is free but donations are gratefully accepted. The main model is incredibly detailed and real passion obviously went into its construction . Even if model railways are not your thing, this one is worthy of anybody's attention. If you have railway obsessed children, this is a stop not to miss.
Bernard S — Google review
Free entry but donation made. Opened over 40 years ago and continued by the son. One of those quirky British attractions kept going by dedication. Needs a bit of dusting but an interesting visit. I've seen a few comments about the owner being rude. He was nice to us and I think he's just shy and a little hard of hearing.
Colin B — Google review
My dad used to have loads of model trains and I'm. Pretty sure I visited this store when I come here as a child. And from walking in the door I had some memories flash back what an amazing place wonderful little store so glad it's still open please pay a visit if model railways interest you in anyway its free entry and u can put donations in a box
Theme D — Google review
We need more quirky places like this in the UK, and I loved spending a few minutes here at the weekend. The display here is clearly something that a lot of effort and love has been put into over the years - it's great. It could do with a really good dusting however, and it does look very tired in its current state. Despite that, it's still well worth a visit, and a little donation.
Alan F — Google review
Model covered in dust. Chap in the shop turned on one train. Left a donation out of sympathy. Not worth going to.

Such a cool place. The guy who runs and maintains this place was amazing. If you're around the area, its worth a visit.

Can't believe I have never been here before. An Aladins Cave of Railwayana. I felt a bit guilty I didn't have more cash to leave in the donation tin.

Parking lot
Bottom Meadow is a convenient car park with ample space for cars and coaches. While the nearby village may be small for shopping, visitors are drawn to the area for its stunning views and cliff railway. The walk to town is uphill but manageable, offering a chance to enjoy the hilly terrain shaped by ancient continental drift. With reasonable rates and no height restrictions, it's a practical choice for parking. Additionally, passes can be purchased from a nearby newsagents called The Studio.
Good car park. Plenty of parking available. Easy to buy parking either from the machine or online via an app.
Jason O — Google review
Convenient car park to explore the town from or head to the funicula. The spaces are not that wide but equally not as bad as some car parks. It cost £1.40 for each hour when we visited in May 2025. There are two payment machines which take cards or you can use RingGo. There are toilets here but you have to pay 50p for the privilege. Alternatively walk to the Pavillion which is about 5 mins away to use those for free.
Adam S — Google review
A large car park well signposted on the edge of the town. Decent sized spaces and access to public toilets. Cards on table and soap box out I object to paying to park and especially in places that rely on tourism as the biggest source of income. In the current cost of living crisis is it not enough that we pay 80% tax in the fuel we put in our cars. But we choose to take a trip out in our cars only to find virtually everywhere you go you are expected to pay for the privilege of visiting. So what ever spare cash you may choose to spend on food, ice cream or gifts is depleted before you even leave the carpark. One day someone will get brave and offer free parking to actively encourage visitors who will come and spend more money in the town. What's killing the high street maybe not totally to blame but the cost of parking is certainly a factor.
Nick F — Google review
Parked here for years when visiting and would always previously have recommended. When we visited on Sunday, one of the machines wasn't working for card payments and you now have to pay 50p to use the toilets which is ridiculous when you're paying to park there in the first place. Just greed I'm afraid.
Darren H — Google review
Not too expensive and no height restrictions. I think parking is free Sunday night maybe? Booked additional hours after 5:30 on a Sunday and it said it was valid until 11am Monday, despite me only paying for 2 hours.
Tai L — Google review
A good location in relation to the town and plenty of spaces were available, when we visited on a Tuesday morning.
Stephen L — Google review
It's a car park, it has a public facility and parking for cars and coaches. The village is quite small for "shopping", most people visit for the views and cliff railway. The walk to town is approximately 100yds and up hill (everywhere is hilly around here due to ancient continental drift).

Fantastic hour of sheer enjoyment. Lovely location, cheerful staff. Well worth the money, some of the holes were challenging ....it's not as easy as it looks.

Nice little “crazy golf” course. Fairly straight forward with no obstacle’s. You have choice of 18 or 36 holes as there are 2 courses. The scenery is stunning, as is all of Lynmouth. Would use it again.

Fun way to spend an hour on either an 18 or 36 hole putting / mini golf course. The holes are generally in good condition and in close proximity to each other. The rates are reasonable (£4 for an adult, £3 for a child for 18 holes). The kiosk also serves drinks and ice creams.

Nestled in the breathtaking Exmoor countryside, the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway offers a charming journey through history on its restored narrow-gauge tracks. This volunteer-run service allows visitors to step back in time aboard original carriages dating back to the 1890s. Starting from Woody Bay Station, perched at an impressive 1,000 feet above sea level, travelers can soak in stunning views while enjoying a delightful ride reminiscent of a bygone era.
Great day out, short trip but we went up and down 4 times, could have more rides if we got there earlier. Staff friendly and helpful. Cafe nice, food good. Did the garden walk, not big but took the time up between one journey, another buying from the 2nd hand book display, another buying a badge for my 🧢👍

Cheap tickets, £10 per adult and doggy was free. Got in our own cabin on the carriage. Cute tickets provided which were clipped when we got on the train. Dog friendly. Cafe on site. Free parking. Unlimited rides all day. Beautiful views of the valley and the bay with some sheep thrown in. Saw some black-faced sheep.

We visited the railway whilst on holiday with our two boys and we had a great time. The volunteers were friendly and happy to chat about the railway. We are in the cafe and the food was good value for money and tasty with options for all the family. The vegan pasty being particularly good. The train ride was a nice length and your ticket lets you ride multiple times.

We visited on an extremely wet day in September but it didn't dampen our spirits for Steam! The train and ride were lovely and they have a great cafe on site that do cracking pasties and cream teas! Worth a visit!

We visited Woody Barn Station today, what a great place !! Takes you back up the early 1900s ! Beautiful trains ! The ride was short but so evocative of another era. The staff were all so friendly and genuinely enthusiastic about their jobs. The cafe was also a surprise . Coffee and tea were not pricey and just normal! The pasty was great !! Much better than the food and coffee I’d had the previous days that had cost more ! Also we noticed children ( under 14) go FREE !! Such good value for families or grandparents taking children for a fun visit! We had a really great time here ! Well done all at the Station and on the train!👍🏽

Hywel J — Google review
Lynmouth is a small village with a water powered cliff railway that cost £3.75 each way payment by card only that takes you up to Lynton,. There are shops, cafes and bars in the village of Lynton. There is a nice footpath to walk back down the hill that gives great views of the village and surrounding countryside. The water spouts that are quite prominent are situated in glen gorge. There's a 18 hole putting green and a large grassed area with seats on the main path across the river from the main road. The main road past the harbour runs to a car park at the end of the esplanade along which the cliff railway is situated. There is plenty of access to the river and fairly level grass banks to relax on, paddling in the river is also easy to get to if the water level allows. There are ladies toilets and disability toilets on the esplanade, men need to use the disabled toilets and they cost 50p. The main beach is made up mainly of rock and unsuitable for sunbathing. Buses run to Lynton from Barnstaple, Ilfracombe and Minehead.
Phillip J — Google review
as you descend from the alley that starts from the top of the hill right at the end of the cliff railway, you reach this place where you can relax with a coffee or eat something and admire the sea. they also have an information center there with souvenirs and the lady is very nice. there are also toilets.

I'm Chinese tourist and I experienced racism. We took our takeaway food and the beer we had bought from the Ancient Mariner to the opposite side of the street, eating in the sea wind (because we had been expelled for bringing food from another shop, even though the pub wasn’t serving food at 3:30 p.m.). Then the manager came with a cheap and ugly plastic cup and told us to pour our beer from the glass into the plastic one, saying we would be fined if we didn’t. However, two local lads next to us were allowed to enjoy their beers in glass cups.

Right on the Harbour front at Lynmouth is this amazing place. The National Park Center is full of information about the local area and the Exmoor National park. I visited here because I was welcoming a walker, (Becky) who was completing the Two Moors Walk. 160K of hills, wild camping and beautiful scenery. The center holds a book that records the names and dates of all the walkers who have passed that way. The Walker statue is right across the Esplanade and is a landmark statue that sits at the end of many walks. The staff were great and really got involved with the event and welcomed and congratulated Becky on her walk. There is also a cafe upstairs which is awesome so be sure to stop for refreshments too. There are so many artists of so many crafts stocked here so something for everyone, jewellery, wax, soaps, glass, textiles & more, & at very reasonable prices. I am extremely upset and will be complaining about a Male member of staff at Lynton Tourist Information Centre, Town Hall Lee Road, Lynton Devon EX35 6BT. When visiting this establishment on Monday 25th August at 3.30pm. I was happily browsing through some of the leaflets when a lady walk in and asked the man she was desperate for accommodation in the area that took dogs. I happened to say to the lady that there were vacancies where we were staying and the lady thanked me. The lady went outside to find her husband and said she would be returning. And it was when I was alone with the male member of staff in the Tourist Information Centre he said, I am the Tourist Guide not you, I work here, it is my job to help her not yours in a very stern voice. I said I didn't mean to cause any offence and apologised and said I was trying to help as being a bank holiday vacancies was hard to find. The man totally ignored me and carried on working on his computer. I said excuse me did you hear me apologise, he still ignored me, so I left. I would have thought that the tourist information centre would have only been too pleased to know of vacancies in the area. If this man had said politely would you mind me helping this lady I wouldn't have minded, This man should not work for the tourist information centre he sets a very bad example for all those lovely members of staff from other tourist information centres.

A lovely quiet place on the hill just above Lynton. The grounds are interesting to explore, in conjunction with the explanation board, to try and piece the layout together. Bridge
Sights & Landmarks
The Robber's Bridge, also known as the Doone robbery bridge, is a stone-built structure that crosses the Oare River in Gloucestershire. It is a popular spot for summer picnics, and is said to be the location of the fatal shooting of Jan Rid by Carver Doone.
We visited here today to take a capture a few images of the countryside for my portfolio. The road down to the bridge is quite narrow with only a handful of passing places possible, there is a very nasty, VERY STEEP haripin bend, go careful. The road did not have any potholes but was covered in leaves, it probably doesn't get a lot of use. We tried to cross the bridge in the car but it was just too wide, the sensors were not happy and neither were we. So we parked up beside the road (there is a layby just up from the bridge for parking, we found on our way out.) Not being very safe footed (wonky legs) we didn't venture far from the bridge, but it looks like an awesome area if you fancy walking, great scenery and a lovely river. Please do remember to take your rubbish home, it's a shame to spoil the beauty of the area with picnic detritus.

This is very attractive and worth a look. We only found it because the owner of the hotel we were staying in told us about lots of places off the beaten track. Could spend hours exploring the pretty stream and taking photos and just enjoying the peace!
Bev P — Google review
Beautiful to see and so peaceful. Tricky road down to it with steep gradient and switchback. Very slippery under the trees when driving down
Rusty P — Google review
It’s a lovely timeless place but sadly not a robber to be seen. Great boatmen scudding in across the quiet stream though.
John R — Google review
I went to see this bridge after seeing it on a postcard and when we arrived it was vastly different. The bridge is quite small and narrow while there is another passage over off to the other side useful for larger off-road cars. The bridge overlooks a small stream which is more attractive than the bridge itself.
Xeather — Google review
This ancient bridge probably dates back to the Roman Empire and the moss-covered forest looks very mystical.
Ronan H — Google review
As beautiful as the images, just need care the curves and steep road, and the bridge is too narrow to pass through for some big vehicles.

Polly Skye Art Gallery is a lovely place with a great range of prices, making it accessible for everyone. The owner was painting at the back of the gallery when I visited, which added to the atmosphere. The gallery dog was also friendly and cute.
As the above, visiter Johnny said we agree, Polly"s Gallery is also our favourite so far that we have visited on our travels and we live in the North of England. Love all the artists colours paintings and was difficult to choose and seemed different to those we had looked at. As for Polly"s they just had the edge, sorry but such vivid stunning colours, found them inviting. like to step into and imagining you were there in the picture, observing everything around, so honest as yourself after speaking with you. We had been looking for a long time and we wanted a picture with happy colours, we certainly found a great picture, which our children also love and now would like, one, for their forthcoming birthday. Not sure which one yet Polly. Look forward to meeting you again. Don't change your selling technique, you were perfect and honest what we down to earth Yorkshire folk like. The couple from York who wish you well in your venture. Love your paintings & Great gallery. We chose wonderful woman not what we we were looking for at all really but we can certainly see many and very thought provoking. Jo & Col
