Chiesa di San Pietro Apostolo is a historic church dating back to the 9th century, constructed using materials from the ruins of Minturnae. The church underwent remodeling in the 12th, 16th, and 18th centuries. It features a facade with a bell tower and Gothic mullioned windows. Minturno itself is described as a charming town with narrow streets and picturesque views.

(Translated by Google) The church of San Pietro was built by will of Pope Leo III around the 9th century by expanding a previous structure, probably from the 4th-5th century. The church was then rebuilt again in the 12th century and underwent renovations during the 16th and 18th centuries, during which, while maintaining its medieval conformation, it was mostly enriched internally with baroque decorations. The church was the cathedral for the diocese of Minturno, already united with the see of Formia in 590 and then again an episcopal seat between the mid-1st century and 999. The see of Minturno was finally united with the archdiocese of Gaeta. The façade of the collegiate church of San Pietro, facing west, is gabled and is preceded by a portico with five arches, of which the four lateral ones are slightly ogival and the central one, with a smaller section, is rounded. The latter is surmounted by the bell tower which is divided into three orders, each of which opens outwards with a mullioned window on each side supported in the center by a small marble column.[7] Internally, the church has a basilica structure with three naves, of medieval layout, without a transept, ending with a flat wall. The naves are separated by eight pointed arches (five in the pedestal, three in the choir) resting on bare columns and decorated with baroque stucco work; while the lateral ones are covered with a cross vault, the central one has a carved wooden coffered ceiling from 1851. In the middle of the naves, two baroque side chapels decorated with stucco and inlaid marble, each of which has a small dome; the one on the right, formerly of the Blessed Sacrament, houses a canvas depicting the Last Supper by Andrea Sabatini from Salerno.[8] Among the works present in the collegiate church, there are the valuable pulpit and, next to it, the candelabra of the Paschal candle with mosaic decorations (1264),[9] attributed to Peregrino da Sessa.[10] The pulpit is the result of a recomposition in 1618 of an older artefact of which it retains the individual parts, dating back to the end of the 13th century and inspired by the lost ambo of the Gaeta cathedral; it is accessible directly from the presbytery via a ladder with two bas-reliefs depicting Jonah and the snake, and has Cosmatesque-style mosaic decorations on the parapet. The choir is conceived as a continuation of the hall and is made up of two bays in the main nave and three in the smaller ones, with cross vaults. Behind the baroque main altar in polychrome marble, a 13th century fresco depicting the Virgo lactans, set in the pipe body of the Consoli organ (2008). In the church the statue of the Madonna delle Grazie (1825), patron saint of Minturno since 1850, crowned in 2008 by the archbishop of Gaeta Fabio Bernardo D'Onorio. Behind the back wall of the choir there is the fourteenth-century church of the congregation of the Rosary, also with three naves, with a cycle of nine paintings from the 18th century with Scenes from the life of Saint Philip Neri. Below it, the crypt consists of a central room on the sides of which there are several quadrangular rooms which were originally used as funerary cells.

Takeout Restaurant
La Concordia Ristorante & Pizzeria is an eatery renowned for its delectable Italian cuisine. Situated in a vibrant locale, this restaurant offers a diverse menu filled with mouthwatering dishes prepared using traditional recipes and high-quality ingredients. Patrons can savor a wide range of appetizers, pasta dishes, pizzas, and desserts that are expertly cooked to perfection. The establishment's warm ambiance and attentive staff create a welcoming environment for guests to enjoy their meals.
I was surprised to find La Concordia open in the afternoon for lunch on Saturday (all other restaurants we walked by were closed), so we stopped to eat in. It was quite busy but not overcrowded. The restaurant tables were well spaced and everything was clean and welcoming. The menu was more extensive than I expected, although the pizza was only available at dinner. There was a little wait to order as I mentioned it was fairly busy at this time, but not unreasonable. Because of the kids we did ask that all the food arrive at the same time instead of as the traditional courses, and the staff were happy to do this for us. The service throughout was attentive and prompt from all three of the staff. The Prosciutto crudo with mozzarella di buffala and with melon were both very good. There was complimentary bread and bruschetta with fresh tomatoes. The kids had penne bianco, vermicelli al pomodorino fresco (pasta with fresh tomatoes), vermicelli Bolognese, and the salsicce Minturnae alla brace (local grilled sausage), which they all enjoyed. I had the seppioline e gamberoni grigila (grilled cuttlefish and prawns), which was fresh and well cooked. The dessert selection sounded delicious, but we were too full to try any after lunch, we will have to come back another time. As a note the bathroom was clean and well appointed, even featuring toilet seats which are not as common to find in a restaurant restroom as you might think. In all the food was very good, the service friendly and professional. We enjoyed our meal here and will surely return.

Well mixed feeling. The food is great. Excellent. The service and the waiting time unacceptable. It was Sunday lunch but still it is not an excuse for 1h wait for first plates and another 30 min for main. Tiramisu was one of the best I had. If you drive by and looking for a place to eat...And it is not Sunday...Enjoy.

Don’t be fooled by the exterior appearance of the restaurant, the food is excellent, portions are good and prices are very reasonable.

the waiter in black plastic glasses spoiled the impression of the restaurant! Pizza waited more than 30 minutes. They brought her not cut and did not serve the table. Another waiter later fixed everything and the pizza was delicious, but bad rough maintenance. The mandatory service charge by the way is 1.5 € per person

Spiaggia dei Sassolini, located in the hamlet of Scauri, offers a superb cove with a picturesque beach made up of pebbles and miniature shells. On weekends, parking can be challenging to find, but the beach itself is quite stunning. Visitors have the option of accessing both free and paid sections of the beach. The paid area provides amenities such as loungers for rent and additional parking. Additionally, there are dining options available at the on-site restaurant.
The Beach is beautiful and the water is very clear. I went in March is low season beware that the only restaurant is closed at this time of year and there are no bathrooms.

Pleasant small secluded beach. Visiting in September it was out of season so there were no facilities. A building was down the beach though it was all closed. There are no toilets. The way to the beach in this season is via a steep rocky path. Not the easiest to get down and up if you're unsteady. The beach itself was quiet with pretty views out to sea.

(Translated by Google) This beach is located in the municipality of Scauri. To reach it, there's a somewhat narrow two-way road that leads to a clearing where you can park your car in a small, secure parking lot for €5 for the whole day. From there, there are a few steps leading directly to the beach. It's divided into a part with facilities and a part that's free. The beach is very wild, surrounded by nature. There's also a bar/restaurant where you can eat. The water is very clean near the rocks, where it's crystal clear, while in other areas it's still clean, but since there's no seabed, it's not great. There are bins on the beach, and it's cleaned by lifeguards. Unfortunately, the currents carry a lot of plastic that remains in the water. Voto finale 7.5/10

City Hall
During my recent travels, I had the pleasure of stopping in Minturno, a charming town that truly captures the essence of Italian hospitality. While I didn’t visit the town hall itself, I enjoyed a delightful aperitif at a lovely ice cream shop located in the picturesque upper square. The service was not only friendly but also attentive, making my experience all the more enjoyable as I soaked up the warm November sun and admired breathtaking views of the gulf.
Very professional and kind staff. Thank you for putting up with my lousy Italian. Grazie

(Translated by Google) Too bad that 0 stars don't exist. Shameful, they exploit tourists to make money. We parked the car, the time to get out change the money to get a parking ticket, they gave us a fine of €30.00. First of all the parking meters are far away, secondly they didn't work, there was a huge queue of people and the same policemen were trying to make the machine that dispensed the ticket work, throwing the money nearby. We will never come again. You want to make money by making others cry. You should just be ashamed, tourists don't treat each other like that. For €1 ticket which we were doing by the way. When I asked the Police Officer for explanations she even laughed in my face. Never again in my life will I come there. This is why people go out of Italy. I'll go be a tourist elsewhere. To find the opening hours you need to download a PDF well hidden on the website, I have attached a photo because the alternative is to go in person (difficult to reach). Hours not at all flexible, open for 2/3 hours a day with only one or two afternoons available for an hour and a half, unacceptable for those studying or working. There is always a queue given the turnout and the opening to the public is limited. Calling the number provided is more useless than trying to make a mistake. Rude, hasty and listless staff. Want to work, jump on him! I don't understand how they earn a salary with the quality and quantity of work done. Lack of waiting rooms and staff. Thank you for the unparalleled management! I would give 0 stars if it were possible. (Original) Scempio. Torre Quadrata, also known as the Square Tower, dates back to the 16th century and was originally constructed for monitoring and defending against enemy ships attempting to enter the inland area. It is an amazing park to visit with lots of amazing Ancient Roman remains. Everything is left as it used to stand, in ruins. (Translated by Google) Beautiful to see, but it's a shame it's always closed to the public. It can only be seen from outside the gate. A gem that's rarely exploited by tourists, the bridge, if well reconstructed, connects Lazio with Campania. The Bourbon bridge over the Garigliano is the Ponte Real Ferdinando, the first iron suspension bridge in continental Europe, built between 1828 and 1832 by engineer Luigi Giura for the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. Inaugurated in 1832, it connects Campania with Lazio, specifically Minturno. It was destroyed by the German army in 1943 during World War II and then restored in 1998. Today, it is a national monument open to visitors, part of the Minturno archaeological complex. In fact, on special days, it can be visited from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm once a week. Architecture: The bridge is a notable example of industrial architecture from the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, featuring an iron catenary suspension system. Technology: For its construction, engineer Luigi Giura studied new iron-nickel alloys produced in the Calabrian ironworks of Mongiana, which increased the structure's strength. Historical Importance: Bridge of the Two Sicilies: It was an important public work that connected the provinces of Caserta and Latina (then part of the provinces of Naples and Littoria) and marked a strategic point on the Garigliano River. Battle of the Garigliano: It was the site of the 1860 battle between the Bourbons and the Savoy army. World War II: In 1943, the Germans blew up the central span of the bridge to slow the Allied advance during their retreat along the Gustav Line. Restoration: After its destruction, the pylons and bases remained intact, and the bridge was restored between 1998 and 2001, also using modern high-strength steels.
