Brasserie
Located in the heart of Reading, London Street Brasserie is housed in an 18th-century tollhouse by the River Kennet. This charming brasserie offers a modern menu and a delightful outdoor area with scenic river views. Despite its upscale reputation, the restaurant provides a relaxed dining experience, complete with blankets for chilly evenings. The establishment has gained recognition from Michelin for its British and French cuisine served within a Grade 1 listed building.
I had a lunch in this lovely brasserie serving British cuisine with Mediterranean influences. The octopus was grilled perfectly, absolutely delicious! My fish and chips cod was also delicious, not too heavy. My girlfriend had a fish cake and a veggie Sunday Roast, which she enjoyed. Quite big portions, that's why we didn't order dessert. Service was friendly and attentive. One of the best restaurants in Reading! Well done team!

Had the most delicious lunch yesterday. We were taken here by some friends who live locally and what a treat it was. We sat outside at the edge of the canal and enjoyed the most fabulous meal, along with the sunshine! I can honestly say I can’t remember when I last enjoyed a meal like this. The menu is extensive and it was difficult to make a choice, but between the four of us, all our dishes looked and tasted amazing! Well done to all concerned, especially Chef! It was great!
Diana D — Google review
Really good experience, we got seated in a lovely place for my girlfriend’s birthday when we asked, and the attention to service was amazing which we can thank Simon for. The food was amazing, starters tasted amazing and the portion sizing was perfect. Surprisingly you would think portion sizes would be small as most places that are pricy make them small but here it is quite the opposite, the plates were huge and tasted amazing. Would 100% recommend
Jason T — Google review
a good place to dine, food is great, nice staff and nice service. The portions vary for different dishes. The liver dish was good, but the fish and the oxtail stew were to the small end, but all was delicious. The toilet was clean and fresh. The issue of a fly 🪰 joining us and a huge mosquito 🦟 too was ruining the atmosphere. While I was entering the place, I saw a plate of ice cream in front of a customer, he looked joyous and plate looked delicious
Riad G — Google review
We experienced a train delay before our outing and had to request a last-minute time shift — the team at London Street Brasserie handled it smoothly and moved our arrival time without any fuss. The atmosphere was stylish yet cosy, with bright windows and lovely views over the river. We were warmly welcomed, and our drinks and food were served in perfect timing throughout the meal. I chose the Smoked haddock kedgeree (Indian-spiced basmati rice with scallion, peas & poached bantam egg) as my starter, and then the Jacob’s ladder short rib beef slow braised in Chianti, with lardons, button onions, mushrooms & rosemary-parmesan polenta for my main. Both were beautifully presented and full of flavour, though the beef dish felt a little rich for my taste. The staff were friendly and welcoming, though it would have been nice to be checked on during the meal rather than only at the end when we paid. Still, overall our experience was positive. We weren’t rushed, we had space to relax, and we really enjoyed our outing in such a beautiful setting. I’d happily recommend London Street Brasserie for a lovely meal in Reading.

Have been here tonight for dinner. Food was absolutely lovely, great quality. All the staff is excellent, caring and very professional. The food is very well prepared and it's a pleasure for eyes and taste! Highly recommend. Will be back asap

Chose the London Street brasserie to celebrate our anniversary a great atmosphere we had three courses the starters were great. The main course outstanding, particularly the lamb which I can.recommend overall a very good experience and when I would recommend

My now wife and I chose LSB to celebrate our wedding reception and we could not have been happier! Jason and the team made sure our special day went flawlessly and truly was the most beautiful day of our lives! The service was 12/10! The food was 12/10! The attention to detail was incredible. They knew the seating plan and which guest had which dish, they accommodated our request for gaps in between courses and they just genuinely provided the most incredible experience anybody could wish! The venue is beautiful and honestly I can’t recommend them enough! I would give 6stars if I could. We will definitely be coming back!

Coconut Bar & Kitchen is a vibrant hotspot located in St. Mary's Butts, offering a bustling atmosphere and serious cocktails paired with delicious Pan-Asian cuisine. The industrial chic setting provides the perfect backdrop for indulging in Asian delights such as Japanese katsu curry, Thai chicken wings, and okra tempura while sipping on classic, fruity, creamy, or Champagne-infused cocktails.
My favourite place to eat in Reading and amazing mock and cocktails 🍹 the presentation is always on point! Customer service and professionalism!.. I highly recommend! Thank you for also bringing so much rich culture too - my other favourite thing about Coconut bar & kitchen! inclusion and diversity 👌🏾 I always have a wonderful time when I’m here! Hanna was my server yesterday- thank you Hanna 🤗 Thank you to all the team and staff ✨

Visited with 2 colleagues for after work drinks and a bite on a Tuesday night. No reservation but they seated us immediately. Very attentive staff and food served pretty quickly, which is great. The food was ok but didn’t have soya sauce or chilli flakes on the table which I thought was a given for a Thai restaurant. We liked the atmosphere and it was reasonably priced. If you want a quick bite in the middle of the week then go for it. I think some of the 5 star ratings are from those who haven’t been out much.

Been coming for years, always incredible service and amazing food and cocktails! The whole team make you feel special on every visit! The Szechuan Duck is amazing and white chocolate martinis are very drinkable and moreish!

This place is awesome! The vibes are beautiful, the staff's nice, and Safalta was super helpful with the vegetarian dishes. The food is really good, and the cocktails are really nice. Gotta try the Pattaya picante!
Nidhi G — Google review
The Thai food here is nice, though fairly basic it covers the classics without many surprises. Where the place really shines is the drinks: both the cocktails and mocktails are well-crafted and flavorful. A good spot if you're looking for a casual meal with some great beverages.

Went for Sunday lunch, wow!!! What amazing food and delicious cocktails for a Sunday lunch and great prices to be fair, Staff were brilliant, very attentive and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this place...

A Perfect Hangout for friends. You'll be greeted by a warm welcome. The drink menu is impressive, from expertly crafted cocktails to an extensive selection of soju and beer, there’s something for everyone. The food menu offers a fantastic selection of authentic korean dishes.

Went to dinner with my cousin , we have never been before but the menu looked amazing the restaurant was very busy and the customer service was excellent we ordered and drinks and food were served very fast. But the food was a let down lacked flavour mostly deep fried with excessive amount of batter wouldn’t recommend the salt a pepper crab as there was hardly no crab but a lot of batter with no spice. Very disappointing

Outdoor swimming pool
Thames LIDO is a renovated swimming pool in Reading, offering a unique experience for both swimmers and food enthusiasts. The glass-walled restaurant serves Mediterranean tapas and mains, making it a popular dining spot. Visitors can start their day with breakfast by the outdoor heated pool before indulging in dishes like bacon sarnies on homemade sourdough or wood-roast kippers with mustard.
Such a great experience and so well organised. Loved that there were no kids in there when I arrived at 5.30pm. One thing I didn’t realise was that it was a lap pool instead of just swimming/ chilling. It did get more relaxed towards the end. They said it was 26 degrees but was freezing. You do eventually get used to the temperature. The hot tub was crowded and felt more like the temperature the pool should have been but was perfect on a warm day. The food, drinks and service was impeccable. Can’t wait to come back again and try the rest of it. Seriously so, so good!
V M — Google review
I recently visited this winter swimming pool, and it exceeded my expectations! The water temperature was ideal — warm enough to be comfortable even on the coldest days, but still refreshing. The pool area was clean and well-maintained, and the locker rooms were tidy with plenty of space. What really stood out was the atmosphere: calm, relaxing, and perfect for both exercise and leisure. The staff were welcoming and always ready to help, ensuring everything ran smoothly. Whether you’re a serious swimmer or just looking to unwind, this is the perfect spot for winter swimming. I’ll definitely be coming back regularly this season!

I had such a lovely spa day package including lunch yesterday. So starting from the beginning: Parking: is very limited depending what time you go. There’s a public Ringo paid for car park out the front which is where I ended up going but if you can get into their car park I think it’s free or cheaper. The setting itself is quirky and buzzy and I loved it, the pool was a great temperature and the sauna was wonderful. The jacuzzi was always busy and a little small and the steam room wasn’t very steamy and in need of an update. The cold bucket was fun after the sauna too. I wish they provided some flip flops as I forgot mine (even if they’re paid for) and wish there was more comfortable seating around to read a book as this seemed limited but didn’t detract from my overall experience. I also got very cold from being wet and sat outside before my massage and even after I showered I wish I’d brought an extra towel so I wasn’t sat back in a wet robe (didn’t think ahead). I had a full body massage and the massage rooms sit above the edge of the pool. You can hear the indistinct chatter and clanging of cutlery but I actually found this to be really relaxing rather than it being so quiet with a bit of spa music. The massage was amazing and I came out feeling so relaxed and the masseuse took me to the tea room and offered a selection of herbal teas after and it helped warm me back up. The lunch was unbelievable - service was good and quick and very tasty. All in all - such an amazing value spa day and really well done - there’s a few minor things that could be done to make the experience 5* overall but you can’t knock it! Thank you so much

Went to this Lido on a Thursday with their Swim & Lunch package. Such a best deal! We came a bit late but the team are very welcoming and flexible and we can still enjoy the lunch and the swim and spa facilities.

Haven’t done a package at the Lido for a few years. Went this week for the swim and breakfast and was not disappointed. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious with a good selection on the menu and the mint and cucumber cooler was amazing.
Nicole P — Google review
Thames Lido never disappoints. The swim and sauna were incredibly relaxing. Lunch was a highlight: the Cornish fish was beautifully cooked and full of flavour, and the pudding was a proper treat to finish. Highly recommend the Swim & Lunch package for anyone looking to recharge.
Elizabeth B — Google review
Pros - Really thoughtfully refurbished and brought back to life. Plenty of choice when it comes to packages, combo deals. I liked the eucalyptus scent in the steam room. It felt quite spacious, considering it was a Saturday lunchtime - pool area was split into fast lane, medium lane and “chill and chat” lane. Sauna had a nice big window looking out onto the pool area, in fact generally speaking it felt quite light due to the big windows around the pool. 2 of us had neck, back, shoulder massage and facial (mine was by Michelle and my mum had Carole, who was also very good) and 1 of us had the exfoliator treatment, these were excellent and professional, felt super relaxed. Good quality herbal infusion made for us afterwards. I thought parking wasn’t bad value (£11 for the whole day paid on departure, although first 3 hours are free. Caution as there is a small car park directly in front of the Lido car park, which I believe is run by a different company). Dinner as part of the package was very good, better than we had been expecting, given some reviews. We paid extra for the steak, and had desserts. Staff explained procedures and timings / what to expect. Towel and robe provided for massage packages only (no footwear). Relaxed vibe - didn’t need to rush to get dressed post massage to enjoy our meal, we were able to eat whilst robed (I guess that could be off-putting for those only attending to eat). Cons - Overall online booking process I found quite long-winded. The main pool was much colder than we were expecting (great as a cold plunge after sauna though). Hot tub was quite small, and by far the most popular area. Didn’t find jacuzzi that others mention in reviews, was there a button to activate in the hot tub? Car park is quite small, so limited availability. Some of the staff in the restaurant were not the most warm or welcoming. Would be lovely to have some fresh juices on the menu. Relax area post-massage was quite small, imagine it wouldn’t be that relaxing on a busy day. No area to lounge out and read a book, but to be honest if you booked the “swim, massage, meal” option I’m not sure where you’d find time to lounge as you’re so packed with activities and two hours pre-massage is just right to sample a little of all of the areas offered (sauna/steam/pool).

Absolutely fantastic place to swim, chill, spa and dine! We had a perfect Sunday afternoon here and I was lucky to treated to the most wonderful massage by Dalia. Highly recommended.

Fine dining restaurant
L'Ortolan is a high-end restaurant located in the Berkshire countryside, housed in a former vicarage. The elegant dining rooms with white tablecloths offer a modern French cuisine experience. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are passionate about their work and the menu. The restaurant's gold-medal-winning cuisine promises to take diners on a culinary adventure with flavors that linger long after the meal is over.
I write this review with sadness, as the restaurant will be closing at the end of the month. I had the Chef's Experience, to be part of the kitchen for a day. I learnt a lot about fine dining, and also had the opportunity to taste the delicious food made there. I had a wonderful experience, the staff are impressively talented and friendly, always ready to serve and share their knowledge. It will be an experience I'll always remember. Another special mention to the baker, the bread and desserts were stunning!

Just had an amazing 5-star experience. The food was top quality. What made it an experience was the chefs table. We sat in full view of the kitchen, watching ours and other guests' food being prepared. Seeing how a professional kitchen works. The chef dressed our lunch on the pass and came round to tell us all about the course, not just what we were about to eat but what was in it, where the ingredients were soursed and what flavours to expect.

My husband took me here for birthday dinner! Great foods, drinks and atmosphere. Nicely displayed dishes with special and fresh ingredients! Good selection of cocktails as well. Great place for occasions and family gatherings
Sheila G — Google review
Excellent Chef table experience. It is not only food and drink. Gettign to talk to the staff was an amazing experience. The food was delicious. I opted for a diary and meat free menu. Every dish was amazing. Every bite was full of flavour. In terms of drinks, I normally only drink water with lunch. This time, I went for the mocktail pairing. I loved all of them, sugar free, creative and full of new flavours.
Amaia S — Google review
Lovely venue. Good was delicious and the cocktails were good too We had the tasting menu with the classic wine pairing. Was amazing and left absolutely stuffed. All in the meal was around 3 hours but we had a drink in the lounge before our meal We didn't feel rushed at any point and the service was very attentive. Our night was just over £400 when you add in service. Not a regular trip based on this but well worth the visit for s special occasion
David — Google review
Honest Review, Atmosphere - nothing special few paintings on the walls some basic spot lights white walls, dark seats white and dark red table clothes. underwhelming. The food, for a Michelin star restaurant was very disappointing simple and bland dishes. the dishes arrangements were very nice but the food itself, average nothing unique, flavours were lacking... Very salty dishes on the 2 starting courses the balance was just not there... Personally felt that most of the menu was based on low quality meat cuts/parts and ingredients and that the plating was trying to make up for the loss of value... the biggest let down in my eye is the sauces and the combination put together just didn't produce anything special... The desserts were very good nothing to say about those... but that was 1 out of the 7 dishes offered on the course, and going there just for the dessert, well... lack of attention to detail ... many times we ran out of drinks and we had no one come to offer more or serve us more...One of the waiters was also between each dish putting the cutlery down diagonally or at strange angles and its just all these little details that really did not impress... I sadly would there really not recommend this restaurant and will probably never go again even thought the staff was nice... Extremely overpriced for what it is...
Pascal P — Google review
We went for The Chef’s Table experience - a 7 courses lunch which was absolutely delicious! We were sitting literally in front of the kitchen watching the chefs cooking and sending the plates. Every single course was more and more tasty, big applause especially for the carpaccio, the cod & the lamb! The service was amazing, the whole team was very friendly & polite. 👏🏻 to the Chefs! Will definitely be back!
Lucile C — Google review
It was wonderful that they accommodated us after our voucher had expired a long time ago. Thank you for that. We had the tasting menu. The waiting staff were obviously trained to a very 'old fashioned' standard which made them seem quite aloof but they did loosen up as the meal went on which was good. The food was very good but not amazing. Drinks very expensive, 2 small aperitifs, 2 coffees and the service charge came to £65.00.

Customers have praised the delicious food and drinks as well as the accommodating service provided by staff members like Mihai and Marco.
Absolutely loved my experience at Miller & Carter. The food was delicious, the steak was perfectly cooked and full of flavour, and the desserts were just as impressive. Everything was well presented, the service was great, and the prices matched the quality of the dishes. I have no complaints at all and would definitely go back again. Highly recommended!

Went for the date night menu to celebrate a birthday. Very good value for money, with a surcharge on the cut of meat we chose. Staff were very friendly and also gave us a complimentary birthday treat. Was quite a busy Thursday evening, so there was a wait between courses which is understandable. Overall a very nice experience.

Had a brilliant dinner at Miller & Carter Steakhouse in Reading with a large group, and everything from start to finish was spot on. The staff were welcoming, super helpful, and really attentive—even with a big party, nothing felt rushed or chaotic. Service was impressively quick, and our drinks and starters came out smoothly. When it came to the mains, the steaks were exactly what you'd expect from Miller & Carter—cooked to perfection, juicy and full of flavour, with that signature char. Everyone in our group was impressed, regardless of how they ordered their steak. The layout of the restaurant is spacious, making it ideal for bigger groups without feeling cramped. It had a relaxed yet slightly upscale atmosphere, perfect for a celebration or just a great evening out. Definitely a top choice in Reading if you're after great steak, solid service, and a group-friendly setting.

Had my first time with my parents here as a celebration and it was absolutely incredible. for. Food was excellent and so worth the spend! Definitely will be back cannot fault at all! We had an amazing waitress Laura who we couldn’t have been more grateful for. Very friendly and so so helpful! Thanks so much 😁

Wow! This Miller and carter was incredible. I've been to a M&C before but this one was on a different level. The service was astounding, so attentive, professional, quick and friendly, very smiley and genuinely seem to enjoy their jobs. The food was top notch, our starter came out within 5 minutes, so speedy yet so delicious, the mains took a bit longer, they told us it'd be 20 - 25 minutes - no problem but then it came out in a much quicker time then we we're expecting and might be the best steak I've had in a very long time! (Definitely recommend the ribeye with beef dripping sauce) and pudding again, quick and great! Atmosphere was fancy and lovely, very clean and welcoming. Highly recommend

Hi everyone, my wife and I recently had dinner here to celebrate a special event, we ended up ordering a bit more then we could eat but I can't be more happy with the way we were treated and the food was exceptional, the whole service was great from start to finish, we were helped by Diego, the food was cooked perfectly and the meat was done exactly how we asked, super fresh, tasty and great portions , can't recommend this place more, of course with good quality meat comes a decent price, it was a bit more then we usually spend a dinner but it was 110% worth it, we are already discussing going to have another visit soon, what we ordered was suitable for 3 or even 4 people, just have a look at the pictures and give them a try !

Had a lovely visit to Miller and Carter today. We were served by Joe who was a lovely, friendly and happy. He was very knowledgeable about the menu. I had the duck and mango salad and it was very tasty (just slightly to many chillies). We were there to celebrate my son's graduations and a birthday and they brought over free desserts for both and sang happy birthday. Brilliant visit and will definitely visit again.

Argentinian restaurant
Buenasado Argentine Steakhouse in Reading offers an authentic and delicious dining experience, especially for steak lovers. The 28-day aged steaks are highly recommended, with options like the Rib-eye and Sirloin. The service is outstanding, with staff members like Giovanni and Brigita going above and beyond to make the evening special. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, complemented by attentive service and well-crafted cocktails.
First time visiting here and was very impressed. The food was delicious, steak cooked to perfection and all served with a smile. Definitely need to book in advance as it was very busy, especially for a Thursday evening.
Scott H — Google review
Buenasado is a really nice venue located right on the edge of the Oracle shopping centre - it is bolted to the side. But what a venue. When you enter (the door is surprisingly heavy?) you find a darkly decorated and relaxing interior. This has two floors of tables. It has a really nice clean and darkly modern feel. The menu is decent and centred around steak cuts (being a steakhouse…). I chose sirloin 11oz with a side of broccoli. The steak itself was cooked well and tasty however for me there was too much fat. Maybe I’m just fussy but I don’t like lots of chunks of fat on my steak. Note this seems to be a thing with steak houses in the UK as opposed to Dublin where the rump steaks have virtually no fat. Can’t fault the food though. The chunky chips are tasty and deceptively filling. There is a good wine list to choose from. The staff were very friendly, efficient and very good. I will go back. Recommended.

Had a lovely anniversary meal, we were running late and called ahead so they held our reservation and helped with directions. Staff were super friendly & gave great cocktail recommendations. Seating is a little too cosy for me.

Interesting!! Allergies caused some issues, be it not one of the main notifiable ones. Good shared starter of Provolone cheese bake. Main a pasta dish with prawns and cherry tomatoes was good, but the rare sirloin was at best cool. I went for beef milanese, also cooler than expected. Chips were good. Service was good seeking different sauces to cover off gluten and pepper allergies, let down by delivering one dish with a sauce that they said was inappropriate for the allergies.
Barry B — Google review
Visited Buensado for a family dinner and were thoroughly impressed. The food was excellent, with perfectly cooked steaks and great attention to detail. The spiral-cut rib-eye stood out as a highlight. A special thank you to our host, Radwane, who looked after us wonderfully. We’re already looking forward to our next visit.

Wonderful food staff n very busy restaurant. However, Price can be steep. Didn't realised had to pay for steak sauce. My 8 oz steak wasc very tasty n was £33 . I wanted to try one of their Argentina Chimicuri (?) Sauce I heard so much of, so I asked to try, but I also asked for my usual peppercorn sauce. I didn't think much of that overly oilly looks like just my bottle vinigrette herbs sauce at home . I jus wanted to taste it but was charged for that sauce I didn't touch other then to taste it, plus my peppercorn sauce. We asked for tap water but they bought us a bottle water n pour it out for us so we didn't realised at first till we asked again for more tap water, then theyboughti us 2 jars water thats when we realised we got charge the 1st bottle of water £5.25. When asked if want salad, my friend said yes, didn't realised that's a separate charge . Another friend asked doe fine beans n it was £8 added to it lol. Yep, u get charge for everything lol. So when this the end the lovely waiter ask if anyone wud like a shot of lemoncello, my friend asked first, is it feee lol. Still we had a very very lovely staff who served us. He was fab. Will go again cos food was indeed good. At least I know what they charge now .

A fantastic little gem of a restaurant. Rump steak was cooked exactly right and was the best tasting steak I have had in years. I will be back!😊

The Alhambra beer didn't taste as such, missing flavour and gas. Basic salad made with no love; nice but little dressing. Rib eye is honestly tasty, expensive for the quantity though. The chips it comes with, definitely originally frozen. Leaving hungry. A fair 3 stars.

The French Horn in Sonning, Berkshire is a charming restaurant known for its great service, friendly staff, and beautiful views. The restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere and serves as an ideal location for brunch or breakfast. Additionally, it provides a comfortable lounge space where patrons can work, relax, or meet with friends throughout the day. With vintage-style interiors and PVC domes available to book at various locations, including Tower Bridge and Putney among others, The French Horn offers a unique dining experience.
Absolutely phenomenal! We discovered the hotel by accident when we needed a room at last minute, only then did we discover it has a Michelin star restaurant. Our first surprise was the fact that the included breakfast is room service by default. This alongside how lovely the rooms are really made the stay unforgettable. We came back 2 months later for my partner's birthday meal and we're blown away, the food was fantastic, and the service could not be better! We will be returning in the future, and have nothing but positive things to say about the experience!
Oliver B — Google review
Against our better judgment (and a recommendation), we subjected ourselves to a weekend at The French Horn. The dinner? Oh, it was a masterclass in mediocrity, with food so 'vintage' it practically had cobwebs. Our room was, shockingly, quite nice. But then, to truly cap off the experience, breakfast arrived on a tray so filthy, it looked like it had survived a food fight. Bon appétit

Came here with my mum and brother before they fly back home. The ambience with historic setting and the view was amazing. The service from all the staff was remarkable. The quality of food was above average in UK dining standard. We had a wonderful dining experience.

On the way to Sonning on a very rainy evening, we found this little gem to stop by for dinner. Very classic and excellent service. Michael and his team was very attentive. Fantastic menu and wine list, beautiful view by the river and just a generally lovely experience.

Sonning on the river Thames is a wonderful location. This is an iconic restaurant that we’ve driven past for more than 20 years. We have just had a wonderful experience and lunch. Yes it’s expensive but it’s an amazing experience. Great food and wonderful old fashioned service. We loved it and will go back. Don’t wait as it’s up for sale. Go and try it now 😁♥️

It is going to be expensive and is heading to over priced, and the decor hasn’t changed in twenty years. Once we get these things out of the way the lobster cake was amazing, the duck the signature dish and finished with some fine desserts. The service was attentive and relaxed. And a wonderful location. Lead with your taste buds and not your weekly (my wife says monthly) shopping budget and you will leave contented.

Review of the Bottomless Tapas deal. Our overall opinion was that this £19.95 pp deal was not worth it. The tapas selection was reasonable and after trying most of the tapas options, we ended up eating chicken wings over and over. It was the best choice out of a poor bunch. The service was good but the food was plain average… You could go to Cosmo in the week and have an ‘All You Can Eat’ great variety and better quality food for the same price. I would only stick to happy hour cocktails at Las Iguanas.
Alex B — Google review
The staff were incredibly welcoming, especially Marta. The service was amazing, our drinks were constantly topped up, and the food was superb. It was such an amazing value for the large amounts of food and drink consumed. We will definitely be back soon!

2025/03 Good Latin food with authentic flavors and a nice variety of options. The prices are reasonable, and there’s no service charge. However, the staff were quite busy, so we had to wait a bit—it was Saturday lunchtime, so it’s understandable.

Massive thanks to the team at Las Iguanas Reading, especially Marta and Joy, for making my Hen Do so incredibly special. They truly went above and beyond. About a week before the event, I popped into the restaurant to scope out the best spot for our celebration. Marta was unbelievably helpful. She took the time to show me around and reserved a lovely, cosy corner for us, which was just perfect. On the day itself, we had the Bottomless Brunch, and Joy looked after us brilliantly. He was so warm and attentive, keeping the drinks flowing and making sure everything was spot on. Marta also popped over during the brunch, and her kind words and warm wishes for my upcoming big day really touched me. All the hens had an amazing time. We couldn’t have asked for a better send-off! We’ll absolutely be spreading the word and will definitely be back. Thank you again for everything – obrigado! 💃✨

The Griffin is a popular pub restaurant located in Church Road, Caversham. It offers a family-friendly atmosphere and serves traditional British dishes such as hand-battered cod and chips, gourmet burgers, and the well-loved 'Brewer's chicken'. The pub is known for its high-quality food and warm welcome, making it a great spot for an indulgent Sunday roast.
My son booked The Griffin for Mother’s Day, he had been before and said the roast looked good. We were looked after well by our server Robert and our food did not disappoint, lovely atmosphere. Will definitely visit again.

It was usual Sunday evening dinner for us but this time it was unusual having been served Luke warm Beef Rib dinners with almost 25% fat and grizzle, and not so well roasted undercooked potatoes. However, Megan the server apologised and wrote off one dinner and coffee dessert. The complaint was very well handled and action taken that we applaud. Hopefully we’ll enjoy our next meal better.

Coppa Club, located in the picturesque village of Sonning-on-Thames, first opened its doors in 2015. This charming venue offers a cozy lounge space where guests can work, relax, or catch up with friends while enjoying food and drinks throughout the day. Nestled in The Great House Sonning, Coppa Club provides a home-from-home for locals with its beautiful all-day spaces and landscaped gardens that open out to the Thames.
We had some mezze board which was okay and lamb as the main and it was delicious (although portions were not big) my friend had carbonara and said it was delicious. They are serving Hawkstone lager there with was very good. The cocktails have been delicious . We sat in the pod so the atmosphere was lovely. The garden goes straight out onto the pathway to river

We visited on a busy Sunday afternoon to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food was outstanding as always - we can always count on everything being delicious! My steak was cooked perfectly, and my husband's roast dinner was really tasty. The initial service was good, up until we we seated, then it went downhill from there. We had to keep asking to order drinks and food, and it was really difficult to catch anyone's eye so we ended up having to wave our arms in the air just to get someone to come over. The waitress apologised at the end, but we're not really sure what the problem was. We weren't even tucked away in a corner, so it's not clear why we kept being so forgotten. Other than that, the food was outstanding and at least we had a pretty view out over the river!

We went to Sonning for my birthday lunch & I was very disappointed by the food. My padron peppers had not been seasoned, my salad was completely tasteless even after adding more dressing (the lettuce was plopped on top so hadn’t even been tossed). The prawns had no flavour which leads me to think they had been frozen & they again had not been seasoned. My “whipped cream” (with my dessert) was a spoonful of thick cream that hadn’t seen a whisk. The zucchini Friti didn’t come with any sauce or seasoning but the burger apparently was nice. I had a nice pornstar martini & the staff was great otherwise I won’t go here again.
Judy D — Google review
The food, bar service, and venue were all excellent, creating a lovely atmosphere to dine in. However, the floor service could use some improvement. Our starter was delayed, a follow-on meal was missed, and we had to approach the tills ourselves to confirm an allergy-friendly dish. A sauce we ordered was also forgotten. While the experience was still enjoyable overall, a bit more attentiveness and warmth from the floor staff would really elevate the service to match the quality of the rest of the venue.
Kaylar — Google review
After going to the Coppa club in Streatly, I was curious to find out what the sister restaurant in Sonning was like, set in a very pretty riverside village, rear garden overlooks the river but you need to walk far down to see it properly. We had lunch on a very busy bank holiday Monday. The standard of food was still as good as the sister restaurant in Streetly but due to the smaller layout of this restaurant, it felt a tad more chaotic and crammed when very busy. The highlight of the garden is the stunning looking pods for more private dining. Definitely would like to try them out next time we visit.
Wei H — Google review
I would rate the service and atmosphere at the Coppa Club Sonning higher if I could. The staff there go above and beyond 100% to ensure you have a fabulous experience and in a word, the atmosphere is radiant. The food was tasty and reasonably priced, however, my fish was slightly overcooked for my taste, but I prefer tuna quite rare. Considering how busy the Coppa Club was when I went, it is remarkable how they did not allow standards to slip. I highly recommend this restaurant for any event or occasion

COSMO is a stylish and modern chain dining room located in Friar Street that offers a global culinary experience. The restaurant features various live cooking stations where diners can watch their food being prepared. The buffet-style setup includes a wide variety of dishes such as sushi, noodles, pizza, seafood, and more from different parts of the world. The ambiance at COSMO Reading is laid-back with soft lighting and welcoming decor, making it an ideal place for a casual meal with friends or family.
The variety was impressive. There was a dedicated section for sushi and sashimi that was constantly restocked, and the seafood on ice—including shrimp, crab legs, and oysters—was very fresh. The carving station was a highlight, with a perfectly cooked roast beef and a delicious herb-crusted ham. The hot food section had a great international selection. The Chinese-style honey walnut shrimp was a crowd-pleaser, and the Italian pasta station allowed you to customize your dish. I also appreciated the live cooking counters where chefs prepared noodles and teppanyaki right in front of you.

Recently visited this buffet restaurant, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The place is very spacious, which is great for accommodating larger groups. They offer an impressive variety of dishes and cuisines, including Indian, Italian, Chinese, and Thai, ensuring there's something for everyone. The pricing is quite reasonable for the spread they offer. However, it does get quite crowded in the evenings, so I’d strongly recommend booking in advance to avoid waiting. The food itself was slightly above average in taste, with the desserts standing out as particularly good. A solid choice for those looking for variety at a fair price!

I went to Cosmo, Reading today and was so impressed with my experience! The food was absolutely delicious, especially the grilled seafood prepared by Ganesh. My favourite dishes were the shrimp and squid which was cooked to perfection. It was so good I went back for more many times. The service was also excellent. I would like to show my appreciation to all floor staff, especially Emma and Barona. They were both so attentive and caring, my empty plates were cleared almost instantly and they made sure everything I needed was taken care of. The restaurant was impeccably clean, the dishes were full of flavour, and everything was so worth the price. The highlight of my time there was definitely having a robot sing me Happy Birthday alongside a plate of small cakes! I loved that so much and i'm grateful for the friendly staff who helped me prepare that surprise. I’d definitely recommend Cosmo for anyone looking for top tier dishes and amazing service, or is looking for a place to celebrate their birthday as you would surely be having an amazing time here. Thank you again for all the staff who served me during my time there and I’ll for sure be coming back!

We visited on Sunday afternoon around 4pm. Place was crowded, many families and birthday celebrations. We were sitting in the spot where we constantly had people passing by us and kids running around. It was hard to move around. Food was just ok, from my observations was mostly asian food- Indian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese. I saw tacos as well, pizza some pasta. I saw many options for meat but as a pescatarian person I had limited options. I loved the mushrooms. Big selection of desserts, ice cream, fruits. Staff was nice, we were explained how it works in Cosmo. I always wanted to visit but I don’t think I will be back. If you don’t like crowded places it’s not for you. Maybe week days are less busy. We paid 56£ including food and 2 drinks.

We arrived on Sunday morning at Opening. From the relaxed Greeting, ordering and food, the whole experience was brilliant. We opted for the breakfast choices, and was definitely not disappointed. Very disappointing visit on a Sunday lunchtime. Zero interaction from staff meant we had no choice but to use the app to order food. Frustrating as the menu on the app and our paper menu didn’t agree on some of the items. My burger arrived and was pretty cold, right on the cusp of sending it back. The salad was drowned in a citrus marinade that made it inedible. My wife’s Siracha Salmon was a little too spicy for her, but we’re aware that’s an us thing and not her. Overall the staff were like robots, never said a word and just moved around like zombies. Food was poor, the place was cold and just didn’t feel inviting.

Quattro Italian Restaurant, located on Prospect Street in Caversham, is a family-run business with over 30 years of experience in serving authentic Italian cuisine. The restaurant offers a modern setting and a warm, friendly atmosphere. Their menu features a wide range of Mediterranean classics including freshly made pasta, gourmet pizzas, and specialty meat and fish dishes. Customers have praised the delicious firewood pizza and ravioli as standout dishes.
Amazing, the food was just gorgeous, all the different flavours, our table had a mixture of seafood starters, lasagne, mushroom pasta, and carbonara and it was the most delicious meal I have had ever, I would recommend everytime. I would recommend booking as it can get very busy, but definitely go. Parking is behind the restaurant and there is an entrance though the back. Definitely coming again, service was amazing, made sure everything was good and we had everything we needed

Had recently visited this quaint little Italian restaurant in the Caversham area. My friends had dined there and have some good feedback. Recommend, you book a table in advance as the restaurant gets busy for dinner. Parking is available round the corner to the rear of the facility. The menu has an elaborate selection of drinks, pizza, fresh pasta and other Italian delicacies. Orders were swiftly taken and the starters came out almost instantly. As stated in the menu the pasta dishes are made fresh and do take some time to get served. Coming to taste, food was quite fresh and well seasoned. We'd have like the fettuccine to be cooked a minute longer and the risotto to be slightly creamier. But for that, everything else was delicious. Equally good was the selection of desserts. Service was efficient. Shall definitely revisit to try more dishes from their elaborate menu. Here's my overall rating Food - 4.25/5 Service - 4.5/5 Ambience- 4.5/5

Visited Quattro on a work visit to Reading. 5 of us in total dined here on a Saturday night. Atmosphere was good, was busy but not too loud. Had made a reservation based on very popular reviews on Google. We are certainly glad we made the trip to Quattro as the food was fantastic. I couldn't choose between the pasta dishes so had a pasta dish as a starter and a main! Food was cooked to perfection and was super tasty. Staff were extremely friendly and were quick to help our table. Would certainly recommend and I will definitely be back next time I am in Reading.

We had a really lovely Italian here this week. The food was well presented, tasty and the kids meals extremely good value! We would 100% recommend for nice Italian food! The kids menus also came activities on the back with a pen - so super kid friendly. Chargeable parking is around the back and because we went in an evening it was only £1 to park.

We were in a dilemma about where to go for a birthday celebration, but choosing Quattro turned out to be the best decision we could have made. From the moment you step inside, you know it’s going to be a great experience. The ambience, the lively vibes, and the courteous staff instantly make you feel that you’ve come to the right place. We started with Sorrentina and Mozzarella in Carrozza as appetizers. The Sorrentina was generous in size yet absolutely delicious, while the mozzarella was cooked to perfection. For the mains, we ordered Penne Arrabbiata and Risotto Marinara. The seafood in the risotto is still mouthwatering as I write this review. The portions were more than enough for us, and the bill came to around £70, including a drink each. We’ll definitely be going back -this time with friends. A celebration at Quattro is the kind you’ll always want to remember forever. 😍

We had a really good lunch at The Botanist. The calamari was amazing—perfectly cooked, very soft, and full of flavor. The sea bass was also excellent, cooked just right and tasty. Also tried the Botanist Lemonade, which was super refreshing. Chocolate s’mores cookie dough was delicious. The staff was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The place was very busy but the service was still OK, a little slow at first (drinks arriving) but the food arrived promptly and was delicious so no complaints. The waitresses and waiter were very pleasant. Overall was happy with my experience. Unfortunately it was ruined quite a bit when we were leaving due to poor communication between staff. As we were walking out the door a waitress ran over and quite loudly asked us to wait as we hadn't paid. This was in front of everyone too. I informed her that I had indeed paid In cash to the other waitress that had come over to take payment, she then asked if I was sure which was highly embarrassing and awkward for myself and my partner. I think the personal touch was missing as there were multiple waiting staff waiting on each table so they were bound to get confused. I think they should have a better system in place and communication to ensure things like that don't happen. It was not a nice experience and left a horrible feeling after such a nice meal. Probably wouldn't return. Shame as it was a beautifully decorated place, definitely the kind I like the ambiance of but the ending ruined it for me.

I would recommend this establishment more to start the evening with drinks or end of the night more . The food tasted really good and the people I was with were amazing to be with and the occasion was wonderful too.

We were kindly greeted by Noel (GM) as soon as we entered and quickly seated. Angelina and Anya took great care of us throughout the meal—friendly and attentive. Food arrived in less than 5 minutes. The pasta crisps were seasoned nicely, the calamari was perfectly crispy, and the sticky pig pizza was spot on, thanks to Pia. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for high-quality Italian food.

A really positive experience with excellent service, pleasant ambiance and a really tasty pizza. The complimentary pea based crisps were appreciated with my Meantime IPA and the vegan aubergine ‘meatball’ rustica pizza was really good, a thin base but generous size served on a board with fresh tomato and basil plus some chilli olive oil to spice it up. Will certainly return, more likely with an offer.

I visited Zizzi’s, Reading as a walk-in on 30/10/25. It was busy with a good atmosphere but we managed to get a table for 2. Shakeel, the manager was very attentive and nothing was too much of a problem for him. He allowed us to switch tables to accommodate 4 people when one became free (I needed space for a laptop), also for our starters that took up a lot of space! Freya served us and was absolutely brilliant too. It was only her 2nd shift but she was so friendly, helpful and nothing was too much of a problem for her either. The food was delicious - so thank you to the chefs. The restaurant was clean and overall it was a very lovely evening. Thank you Reading Zizzi’s - you’re doing a great job and have a great supportive Manager. Well done Shakeel and your team 😊

Experience a unique afternoon tea on Whittington's charming Tea Barge, located on the River Thames near Reading Bridge. This cozy cafe offers an extensive selection of teas from around the world, continuously changing to cater to diverse palates. Indulge in their delectable freshly baked scones complemented by cream and jam, a definite highlight of their menu. Beyond serving delightful treats, this venue is perfect for hosting weddings, anniversaries, and other special events.
A literal fairytale experience. We were lucky enough to sit at the front of the boat and enjoy our lunch and cream tea and scones which was delicious!! Highly recommend this to anyone who is visiting reading. The staff were the warmest, most welcoming people ever.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 We visited Whittington’s Tea Barge yesterday as a family, and it was such a lovely experience. The setting on the boat is so peaceful and unique—perfect for a relaxing afternoon by the river. The afternoon tea was excellent. The scones were fluffy, served with delicious clotted cream and jam, and the tea selection was impressive. The staff were very friendly and made us feel truly welcome. My daughter absolutely loved it—she kept saying how cute and special the boat was! It’s a rare find that appeals to both adults and kids. Highly recommend for families, couples, or anyone looking for a cozy and memorable tea experience.
Cherie C — Google review
Whittington Tea Barge is very popular among people in Reading, and after joining their monthly 2-hour river cruise I can see why it has such a good reputation. The whole experience felt very special. The weather was warm and not windy, which made it perfect for cruising along the River Thames. With only 12 people on board, it was calm, friendly, and never crowded — a very personal experience compared to bigger boat trips. At the time of boarding, I was served the tea set. The handmade scones were fresh and delicious, and the service was good and welcoming throughout. The tea set also included sandwiches, desserts, and a choice of coffee or tea — all well prepared, nicely presented, and filling. It felt like the perfect balance between a traditional English tea and a relaxed river journey. Afterwards, I went up to the top deck. If the weather is good, I highly recommend sitting outside — the views of the River Thames are absolutely amazing and it is such a peaceful way to spend the afternoon. The whole cruise was very well organised, with enough time to enjoy both the food and the scenery without feeling rushed. For future visitors, it’s worth knowing that the river cruise only runs once a month and you need to reserve in advance as spaces are limited. On normal weekends, the barge stays in its usual spot on the river and serves a special weekend menu, so you can still enjoy eating on the boat even if there is no cruise that day. Overall, this was a wonderful and memorable experience — great food, friendly service, and beautiful river views. A lovely way to spend a couple of hours by the water in Reading. Highly recommended!

I am in love with their Hong Kong style milk tea. I have yet tried their milk tea with red bean favor. I will make sure it’s on my checklist for next visit. 100% recommend to everyone love chilling out by the river!

We are so impressed by everything we ordered for the brunch: a full English breakfast, an omelet with cheese & mushrooms, Caffè Latte, and Americano. All the food and drinks are served fresh, yummy, and decently. The place is cozy and clean. Just found out that it's a family business run by friendly and enthusiastic Hongkongers. We have had come again for their Hongkong-style menu served only on Fridays. The French toasts, beef noodles, and milk tea are all yummy and delicately prepared. They brought us the taste and good memories of our hometown. Thank you.

We had a lovely family lunch (group of 10) this Sunday at Orwalls! The food was really splendid and the whole experience was exceptional through all the courses. We all had different dishes and each of them were prepared with such love, care and really good products. The cocktails were also good, and the card offered such large range of non-alcoholic cocktails. The wines we had were also lovely and really well matched with the dinner ♥️ We will definitely come back again! I was so enthouthiast, that I forgot to take more pictures throughout the service..

We tried Orwells today for the first time and it easily surpassed expectations. We were looking for a Sunday fine dining experience in a relaxed, comfortable environment and this filled the brief entirely. We had pre-dinner drinks outside, then moved inside for a highly impressive 3-course lunch, with accompanying side dishes and wine. Our party of 6 all enjoyed the experience and we'll definitely be going back. For starters we had the pork belly, the beef tartar and the crab tart. All were excellent, presented well, and just the right portion sizes to kick the meal off nicely. For mains we had beef, lamb and venison, with 5 side dishes. Desserts were accomplished, especially the Mille Feuille. We feel so privileged to have found this restaurant, and suspect it's well on the way to due accreditarion from the major food guides. Thank you!

We visited on February 14th, our fourth visit and previously we have been very happy. On this occasion the food was slightly disappointing and I left a review stating so. Unfortunately the reaction from the owners was appalling. Those boys obviously can’t accept constructive criticism, were downright rude and made personal comments about my relationship with my girlfriend. Needless to say we shall never return. Dine with caution and whatever you do don’t criticise the food. Disgraceful and totally unprofessional.

Pepe Sale is a bright and inviting restaurant with chequered tile floors and marble-topped tables, offering traditional Sardinian cuisine. The owner, Toni Sale, who hails from Sardinia, aims to bring the authentic flavors of the island to guests. The menu features Sardinian specialties such as Pane Carasatu bread, homemade pastas, wild boar, fish dishes, and the house specialty - slowly roasted Suckling Piglet.
Love this place - Pepe Sale is perhaps the best dining experience for Sardinian cuisine anywhere in the UK. Food is always fresh and the portions are very generous. Service staff are polite and helpful and always ready to make you feel at home. In fact the entire atmosphere in this restaurant feels more like visiting someone’s home. Great selection of wines as well that are well-thought out to match with the specials as well as the regular menu. Dessert is great - especially the tiramisu and profiteroles. My favourite item is the ravioli stuffed with cod or sea bass and blackened with squid ink. The owner / chef takes a personal interest in diners, often visiting each table and taking orders. Have been here several times and will keep going. A real plus for Reading.

One of the best restaurants in Reading! This is an authentic Italian restaurant (not a chain!), with really tasty food and with nice service. I have been several times and always tried different dishes, and none disappointed me so far, really liked all of them. I strongly recommend the raviolis as they are handmade! I have tried the ricotta raviolis and the special crab raviolis (these are not available everyday) and loved both! It is usual quite busy, so I would recommend to book a table if you want to try it.

Revolution is a trendy cocktail bar that offers a global menu of comfort food classics and nightly happy hours. The bar is popular for its lively atmosphere and top-quality cocktails.
We had a leftover experience voucher and decided to blow it on a cocktail masterclass seeing as we love our cocktails so much. The venue appears as definitely a younger person’s bar and we’re not! But that didn’t matter one bit and every single member of staff was upbeat and friendly and genuinely pleased to greet and serve us. Our mixologist master was Max and he was awesome! Extremely friendly, knowledgeable and all round great fun. He took us through the basics, taught us to mix our own drinks (which was huge fun!) and answered all our questions (including converting ml to oz!). We had an amazing time and I thoroughly recommend it - young and old!

Very interesting place. They actually have 2 bars. The main bar out front is pretty ordinary. But behind a curtained-off section lies a huge dance floor with a large bar that stretches the entire width of the dance floor. The dance floor was closed off when I visited but I heard from regular patrons that it gets crazy over the weekends. Lighting and ambiance were great to get a good buzz and you could still hear yourself in conversation.

Got a voucher for burgers and beers at this place. Very teenager vibes, the burgers were not bad (not good either), took a while to get the food and we ordered some drinks while waiting which was okay. The music is loud so it would not be a place to go for eating and having conversation but should be a good fun if you are looking for a dancing place. We had a nice time and experience but would not get the voucher for the burgers at the place again.

Lovely 'afternoon tea' I say this as it's not an afternoon tea, in my opinion, as there is no tea and no scones. However, what they do serve is delicious and was a lovely change from the normal afternoon tea. Really good savoury food and delicious sweets. Cocktails were also lovely. I would recommend it. We marked 1 down because my husband thought it smelt funny, it's probably just because it has a busy nightlife. Our table was also set with santa hats, which was a lovely touch.
Heidi D — Google review
A good place to grab a burger or a pizza. Plenty of good sounds and the staff were friendly, at least they were on the Thursday I visited. When I went back on the following Friday the staff were overwhelmed with boozers and the service for food was very slow. But they were still friendly. Although it's a bar I can't comment on that side of it as I don't drink. But as I sat and ate endless videos were showing with their colourful range of cocktails. They must make a fortune, but not from punters like me... Best thing about this place is the discount card which costs £3 and the 25% that it offers is immediately applicable to the bill. My burger should have been a tenner, plus £3 for the discount card, and it only cost £8...? On the way out the two tough-looking bouncers said "goodbye" and I was so shocked (bouncers never say anything friendly and they usually scowl at me) that I didn't reply. I wonder if this friendliness comes from the fact that many reviews here are complaints about the bouncers. I also wonder if the complainees were drunk and disorderly when they tried to get in?
Rupert M — Google review
Lovely atmosphere, really helpful and sweet staff! Theres two major rooms, toilets (didn't see an accessible toilet) and a photo booth. I really recommend the honey bee drink, honey, creamed and roasted notes! Everything is for card payments even the photo booth. I will definitely come back! A lovely night out.

We had a brunch booked yesterday evening, upon arrival we could tell it was extremely busy with other "brunchers" and two very large parties for hen dos. Due to this the service was slow, but the staff made sure to check in with us and apologise for the wait etc. They were working incredibly hard and looked very stressed trying to get through all the tickets and make sure the brunches were worth the money with the bottomless drinks. We had a great time, enjoyed the drinks and food. All the staff working last night should be praised for their hard work, we didn't catch any names to mention them personally but honestly they all done great in a stressful situation.

The modern, industrial-chic setting is perfect for capturing Instagram-worthy moments with its neon signs and stylish decor. Zero degrees Microbrewery Review: A Blend of Great Brews, Bites, and Atmosphere Recently, I had the pleasure of taking my uncle, visiting from India, to a local microbrewery with a restaurant, and it turned out to be an exceptional experience. The brewery's ambience was a standout feature—industrial yet inviting, with gleaming tanks, pipes, and brewing equipment creating an immersive setting for craft beer enthusiasts. The atmosphere felt lively yet relaxed, perfect for a casual outing. We started with a couple of drinks, and the brewery's offerings did not disappoint. Each sip reflected the artistry of small-batch brewing. For food, we opted for a wood-fired mushroom pizza, buttermilk chicken, and classic French fries. The pizza was a revelation, with a crisp, charred crust and fresh toppings that made every bite flavorful. The buttermilk chicken was succulent, tender, and seasoned to perfection, while the fries were crisp and addictive—an ideal accompaniment to our drinks. The service added another layer of charm to our visit. The staff were attentive, friendly, and efficient, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable dining experience.

I had high expectations for this restaurant based on its atmosphere and friendly staff, both of which were excellent. However, the pizza was a complete letdown. It had a burnt taste, and honestly, a frozen pizza from the supermarket would have been better. It seems that those who had a good pizza here in the past were just lucky. Unfortunately, I won’t be coming back for another try.

Food omg. Service, waiter people were very nice polite and on the ball. Talk to them for tailored service. Food, I ordered beef starter and liver main course. The meat was selected very well, it was tender, fell apart under the fork and dissolved in the mouth. I was very pleased the food was tasty and sauces a nice flavour. We had dinner in Valpy Street Bar & Bistro and I personally loved the experience. I ordered seafood clam chowder (£21) and it’s divine! I didn’t need to add salt and pepper as it’s already perfect. My friends had beef and said that theirs are so soft. I had sticky toffee pudding - a classic for dessert and I’m glad it’s not too sweet. The staff members were also very nice, smiley and accommodating. The ambiance of the place is very cosy and it’s perfect for intimate dinner.

A very reliable independent local restaurant with something for everyone! Great quality and full of flavour food (yes it's as delicious as it looks!), friendly and genuine service and a fabulous setting. The recent refurbishment has transformed the restaurant into a venue - great for a meal for two, family meal/celebration or meal with a larger group/party.

We recently had a good experience at Spitiko Greek Restaurant in Reading. We visited on a Tuesday specifically to take advantage of their popular 2-for-1 main course promotion (where the cheaper main is free), which offers genuinely excellent value. The dining room was understandably packed due to the promotion, and this heavily impacted the service speed. Our starters took a while to arrive, and the main dishes followed almost an hour after ordering. We were fine since we had starters, but other diners should be aware of this potential wait time when visiting on a Tuesday. Despite the delay, the food was absolutely great. The portions are massive, providing fantastic value for money, even if the dishes are priced a little higher than average—they are absolutely worth it given the quantity and quality. The only minor area for improvement was the wine selection; the offer felt quite limited, and we found that the staff lacked deep knowledge regarding the available wines. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere was friendly, and the quality of the cooking shines through. We will certainly be back, but on a Tuesday, we'll make sure to settle in and be ready for a leisurely evening!

Recently refurbished Greek restaurant in Caversham. Very friendly staff who provide great service. Reserved a table for four. Very smartly decorated but very bright lights and sometimes difficult to hear each other due to the acoustics of the place. That said the food is very good. A selection of hot and cold starters followed by a couple of mains to share. Ouzo and wine so what’s not to like. Bit of Greek dancing before we went home so a very good night out in Caversham. A wonderful real Greek food restaurant, delicious, the service is amazing we had a wonderful meal celebrating a birthday, our hostess was awesome such good service, we had several dishes all delicious and beautifully presented, the octopus cooked to perfection, thanks so much for a wonderful evening loved the limoncello

Went with an experienced Greek food colleague who thought it was pretty average and you can certainly get a better Greek meal in Reading. I enjoyed it and thought it was quite good. I really don't like Service Charges though. Newly decorated, very clean restaurant. I recommend the starter, got cheese in pastry covered in honey was my star of our meal

Enjoyed a lovely meal with friends featuring a variety of Greek dishes. Most of the food was delicious, though the portion sizes were generally on the smaller side. The chicken spitiko was especially disappointing, with just two small pieces of chicken and a few chips.

YO! Reading House of Fraser is a vibrant Japanese chain eatery where you can enjoy a variety of gluten-free options, including miso soup, sashimi, nigiri, hand rolls, and desserts. The menu features Japanese favorites like teriyaki, ramen, and sushi. The restaurant's conveyor belt system adds an element of fun to the dining experience.
I really like Yo Sushi as a brand. The concept and aesthetic of the places really appeals to me, and the food is always to a good standard. This one is as fine as any other of the chain. Never been to one located in a department store, but the quality of food and the service was not diminished for this. You always risk spending a bit more then you intended at a Yo Sushi. There is so much on offer passed on front of you on the conveyor belt, that it is hard to resist. Also, keeping a track of your tab with their pay the the bowl system can be a bit tricky. Saying this though, I are very well, and always do here, and sent no more the £25. A good place to stop off for some quick food after a shop.

This is a nice sushi place with a nice staff. It’s worth the visit for the fun. The food service is really agile and fast. Good selection and variety for all tastes. They also have a section for vegetarian which is a really nice touch. Portions are not as great as other sushi places but it’s worth for the price. The desserts look nice as well with good variety. It’s rare to see mochi balls in the menu, but they have a few three to choose. Worth the visit.

First time visiting Yo! Sushi with some friends this evening and picked/ordered some dishes which are really delicious. The staff are absolutely fantastic and the overall service experience is great, really enjoyed the visit.

Very tasty vegan sushi, which was surprisingly filling. I love the novelty of the conveyor belt, too. I would recommed the spicy vegetable rice.
Zef W — Google review
A little sterile as a restaurant but food was served quickly and the conveyor system worked perfectly - except when someone hadn't read the memo on how the light system worked and nabbed one of my dishes. Swiftly resolved by the excellent server, who also gave me the chance to show my chopstick prowess. On seeing I am a complete spanner with them, he got me a fork! Top man! Only complaint would be portion sizes, the thick cut sashimi was anything but and at nearly £7 not good value.
Neil W — Google review
Love the sushi in Yo and service always good. It was quite cold in January in the restaurant so my only issue that sitting in jacket in the restaurant is not too comfortable. 🙃
Judit M — Google review
Not bad. Service is obviously fast, and staff are helpful and keen. Quality is fine, however taste on a lot of dishes is quite bland compared to a lot of other sushi places I've visited. You have to go for something "hot" to get much in the way of flavour. Quite expensive too, though not on a dish by dish basis, more because dishes themselves are quite small and so you end up working your way through quite a lot. Price didn't match with the quality. I'd go again, but mainly for the novelty.

Clay's Kitchen & Bar is a highly influential restaurant in Reading, making it to the 2019 list and receiving glowing reviews. The restaurant has recently crowdfunded a move to a larger space, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Clay's Hyderabadi Kitchen offers intensely spicy Indian food with aromatic spices that pack a punch. The menu features unique dishes like venison and liver, providing an explosion of flavors.
We visited for the first time in a while and it was so delicious it left us wondering why we had left it so long! Incredible food and great ambience and service in the restaurant. I had the Manchurian Gobi and Indrahar with beetroot roti and they are all fab. It was the perfect setting to enjoy the food and chat with the right volume of music and friendly staff. Highly recommend and we shall be back again before too long.

I have been meaning to leave a review of Clay's for a while. Having eaten at this vibrant restaurant for a few family celebrations and attended one of the incredible collab evenings they hosted with Phantom brewing co. - Clay's is absolutely fantastic. Always an exciting menu that entices you to try everything! Highly recommend.

Disappointing Experience at Clays - More Hype Than Substance We visited Clays in Reading on a Friday evening, hoping for a standout Indian dining experience given its generally positive reviews. Unfortunately, our visit was largely disappointing, marked by incredibly slow service and food that failed to live up to the premium price tag. Upon arrival, despite the restaurant only being at half capacity, we were left waiting a full 10 minutes before anyone approached our table to take a drink order. This set the tone for the rest of the evening. Our starters, once ordered, took a further 20 minutes to arrive. The most frustrating wait, however, was for our main courses, which took an astonishing hour from the time of order. When we enquired about the delay, we were simply told that the restaurant was "busy" and the kitchen was "overflowed" – an explanation that felt disingenuous given the visible half-empty dining room. The food itself was underwhelming. While perfectly edible, it tasted remarkably similar to what you'd expect from an average Indian takeaway, yet at three times the price. We had hoped for something more distinctive and refined, but it simply didn't justify the cost. We found the restaurant quite noisy, perhaps unlucky enough to be seated next to a loud table of four gentlemen. Overall, our experience at Clays left us thoroughly underwhelmed. For the prices charged, the slow service and ordinary food were simply not acceptable. Reading boasts numerous other Indian restaurants that offer superior food and a better dining experience, often at a more reasonable price point. I would recommend exploring other options before settling on

Absolutely delicious and a pure pleasure! If you want the most delicious Indian food come here! Highly recommend the cauliflower and the lamb chops starters. And the prawn curry was a dream! Also get the bread basket. So good!!

Clays Kitchen and Bars is an absolute gem. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. The service was friendly and attentive throughout — you can tell the staff genuinely care about the customer experience. A special shoutout to the boss, who not only runs a tight ship but also brings a lot of personality and humour to the place. He had us smiling the whole evening! Now, the food — wow. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with rich, traditional flavours. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients, and it’s clear that a lot of thought and passion goes into the cooking. It’s on the pricier side, yes, but every bite justifies the cost. This is not your average night out — it’s a proper culinary experience. Whether you’re coming for a special occasion or just want to treat yourself, Clays delivers something memorable. It’s rare to find a place that combines tradition, quality, and character so well. A definite must-visit, and I’ll 100% be coming back again soon.

I arrived here by pure chance. Hungry. Was a little breath taken by the price, but it is 2024. My breath was taken away again by the superb food. Paneer biriyani so delicious. I love the special idea they have too. Each month they showcase food from a different Indian state. Great shout. I’ll be back!

A beautiful modern restaurant offering a contemporary take on classic Indian dishes. You come away feeling like you've had a premium experience but very reasonably priced. It's unlike your standard Indian restaurant experience.
Caboodle T — Google review
This is an absolutely outstanding restaurant. Don’t go expecting the ‘run of the mill’ Indian restaurant menu, this is far better and far more authentic. The food choices are outstanding - we had prawn starter, lamb biryani and the ‘wedding’ chicken curry. The food is sensational and the staff are incredibly attentive. The food and staff are absolutely 10/10. (Certainly not a grumble but in time it would be great if the restaurant could develop a slightly more cosy atmosphere 👍)

Pub
Hope & Bear is a charming and stylish traditional pub located on London Road, just a 15-minute walk from Campus. It offers an inviting atmosphere with its well-tended garden and traditional interior. The venue provides an airy and spacious restaurant while maintaining the intimacy of a classic pub. With an open fire during winter and two immaculate beer gardens, it caters to guests year-round. The adventurous pub menu features classics like fish and chips, burgers, steak, and a delicious Sunday roast.
A fantastic pub that hits all the marks - great decor, brilliant range of delicious food and drink and really fantastic service. There's not a lot of places these days where the staff genuinely care, and are all so friendly. Can't recommend Hope & Bear enough!
Alice H — Google review
It's not bad, but it's VERY student orientated. The beer selection is pretty good the food is pretty good. However if you walk to the bar at the same time as 15 students walk in the staff will always serve the 15 first. This is frustrating as the 15 don't even know what they want to drink. I understand that they cater for the students and that they are a big part of their revenue but surely staff maintaining and managing orders in turn should be a thing? A lot of these big groups only stay for 1 drink then go on to the next pub. In short you won't get served in turn if a big bunch of students turn up. This means you'll wait a long time because (fair play) they ID each and every one. Also an annoying habit they have is charging you on card before you get your drink. On multiple occasions the beer they then pour runs out and I have to make a different choice resulting in a refund needed on my card and a new amount charged. As with all card transactions the money coming back is delayed but the money going out is instant. I understand that they don't want to pour until they know the person has the money to pay for it, but this really sucks. In short. Nice pub, good garden, good beer, staff are nice but not attentive to who is next, food is good if a bit pricey for what it is.

Left feeling horrible and regretting coming - Had a group booking as we were visiting Reading for the weekend, I decided to ignore some reviews about a bad experience about service and sadly I was met with the same bad service from one bartender. As I walked in I asked if he minded if we sat outside and he told me he would rather we didn't as it meant they had to bring food out and he stared me down leaving me feeling very belittled for wanting to sit outside. He made me feel like it was the most inconvenient thing and that it bothered him a lot even for a simple ask while others say outside. I decided not to deal with him any more and let my husband do the ordering. He then did not bring our food out and we sat waiting while the rest of my party finished their food. He approached us and said he had no evidence of our order despite my husband having his email of order and having paid over £100 and having waited patiently for our food. He then raised his voice at us and my husband decided to go in to get our food which had been sitting under heat for about 20/30 mins. I wish this was the end. As my brother went in to order the same guy was sitting on a gambling/gaming machine and ignored him. I am not the person to review this type of experience and I generally accept that some people have bad days and may be rude but this goes beyond okay as from the second I walked in I was half afraid to meet him again. The only redeeming thing was the food and other bartenders who apologize for this guy. So thank you to the chef and those who have to work with the other employee The person in question had tattoos and dark black hair. I can see reviews about him already and would have management seriously consider his employment as I will not be returning and will not be recommending the place to anyone.

The Hope and Bear is the local of my dreams. Great drinks with a massive range, especially their Gin. The food has always been incredible, their lunches are well priced and their evening meals and roasts are good value for money as the standards they are serving at go above and beyond. There is parking too if that's an issue and it has great bus links. I would highly recommend coming here.
Jack J — Google review
Decent food, can't say the same about the service. One bartender somehow blamed us for the food not arriving for 40 mins, refusing to take responsibility. Then we go into the bar and all of our meals are just sitting there on the counter ready to go. This guy has been mentioned in other reviews, I'm sure the owners know who I'm talking about. Sadly very poor service means we won't be returning anytime soon.

Hamburger restaurant
Honest Burgers Reading is a must-visit for burger enthusiasts. This restaurant offers unique, local burgers exclusive to its branch, such as the jerk chicken burger featuring jerk chicken thigh, smoked bacon, and American cheese. The establishment prides itself on using premium grass-fed beef from the Scottish Highlands and serves homemade rosemary chips daily. Additionally, it caters to gluten allergies by offering gluten-free options for both burgers and sides.
Great place with a nice atmosphere. I was welcomed by a male staff who is always very nice and helpful as I have been in this place few times and been served by him. Even tho I came early and it was not very busy the male staff kept himself very busy by restocking the drinks etc. During my visit he made sure everything is fine and I am ok. The restaurant is very big so it’s plenty of room to sit. There is Christmas decorations all over the place. My vegan burger was great as always. Great experience. Highly recommend for people who haven’t tried it yet. I don’t eat meat but heard the beef burger is great too, better than the chicken one.

Me and my partner have been twice and both times the food has been fantastic. I do enjoy a good burger and these are up there with as good as any I've had. And I think in the current climate for eating out, the food is very reasonable. I have been to a few Honest burger's in London and the consistency isn't great between branches. This Reading branch is able to produce the highest standard of the chain, and has done so on both occasions I have visited.
Joe P — Google review
Great burger, good range of local beers and fair pricing let down by small window seats on the side of the restaurant. Popped in for lunch as really fancied a burger and the food didn’t disappoint. Local ingredients, a simple menu with good variety and fair ‘city’ pricing. The only issue were the narrow seats on the window table we were assigned. I wasn’t fully comfortable, and neither was my wife. Not enough to make a deal out of, but this work larger posteriors might want an inner table.

I can't give anything less than 5 stars. Food was delicious as always but the Reading branch in particular seems to have very lovely staff. Huw served us yesterday and is fantastic. Lovely manager from Scotland whose name I've forgotten. Both have such pride in their jobs and make the restaurant so welcoming.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Honest Burgers Reading – Great food, fast service! Had a great experience ordering from Honest Burgers Reading via Uber Eats for pickup. I ordered the DOUBLE SMASHED Burger, LARGE Buffalo Wings (Hot), SMALL BBQ Tenders, and Rosemary Salted Chips. The food came to £26.20 but with an Uber Eats discount of £10.48, I paid only £15.72—great value for the quality! The burger was just what I expected: hot, fresh, and packed with flavour. The buffalo wings were spicy, tender, and a generous portion. The BBQ tenders were also really tasty and nicely cooked. Only the rosemary fries were a little on the cold side—but still had great flavour. Service was quick and smooth—my order was ready for pick-up on time with no fuss. The staff were polite and efficient. Definitely a place I’d return to. Highly recommend it, especially with an Uber Eats deal!

I visited The Momo House on two occasions and tried a variety of dishes — momo, chicken fried rice, Nepali thali, bhuna chicken, and rice. Everything was delicious and full of flavour. The momo were fresh and well-seasoned, the fried rice had a great wok taste, and the Nepali thali was a real highlight — hearty and authentic. The bhuna chicken was rich and satisfying, pairing perfectly with the rice. The owner and staff were very friendly, creating a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. A great spot for comforting, tasty Nepalese food — I’ll definitely be coming back!

We enjoyed eating at the Reading Room last night. The whole experience was amazing. It wasn’t our first time there, so I’m happy the standard is consistently high. The food was delicious and looked beautiful. The staff were very professional and although they were always nearby, it didn’t feel awkward. The dinner finished with a really sweet, personal touch - couple of chocolates on a plate with a sign „happy anniversary”. I highly recommend the restaurant.

Lovely place, good food, me and my friends had the tasting menu. The food was good. All cooked well and compliments to the chef. Service was on point there when we needed and was very observant of our table. Atmosphere was a nice quiet place but seemed empty. It was a 19:00 ( 07:00 ) reservation and lasted until 21:30 ( 09:30 ) on a bank holiday on Friday. Overall service was good, food was good. We paid £450 for 4x tasting menues. 1 bottle of wine and 2 x cocktails. Price was a little expensive but the food was good so can't complain. I do recommend for a nice dinner out in Reading for a celebration or a fancy dinner.

My daughter and I had dinner here this eve and the food is amazing. The presentation is gorgeous and everything was perfectly cooked. Would have loved to have met the chef. It is a hidden treasure. Came for afternoon tea to celebrate a birthday. I must give props for the availability of a vegan afternoon tea menu in the first place, and the food was mostly great. Unfortunately our first choices of teas weren’t available (neither of them), and it was definitely the noisiest afternoon tea experience I’ve ever had 😅 Not the fault of staff, but it definitely affected our experience.
Jen W — Google review
The venue is beautiful, exuding an air of class and importance. During our visit it was very quiet though, and the place felt empty, but this is most likely due to the date and time of our visit, which was in the early afternoon during the week. Presentation of food was 10/10, but the quality was lacking, especially considering the high prices on many of the items. Our steak dish arrived severely overcooked (ordered it Medium), and a bit cold, but tasted good. The scallop starter we ordered was excellent. Well balanced flavours and perfect presentation. The staff were very friendly and acted professional. They also did a bit extra for us, which should be commended, as the nature of our visit was a celebration. If you have the money to waste and want to impress, this place should be considered. But if money is tight, but you still want quality and class, there are other places very close by which might be better for you.

We had a nice afternoon tea — the food was nice and the staff, especially the girl who served us, were warm and friendly, which really added to the experience. However, the overall atmosphere was let down by the cleanliness of the space. The walls were noticeably dirty, and the AC unit was in a similar state, which isn't ideal for a dining or tea setting. A little TLC could really elevate the place and bring it up to the standard the service deserves.

Decided to order from here for the first time and will not be making that mistake again. Ordered chicken tikka but recieved lamb tikka instead, you can see from the pics how small the portion was. I also ordered two portion of seekh kebab starter which apparently means taking two seekh kebabs, cutting them in two and voila two seekh kebab starters. Not worth the price I paid.

Went here for my fiancé's birthday meal and when I say the food is good, I mean REALLY good. I'm not usually a fan of Indian food but this place had me savouring every bite. I had chicken pakoras to start, followed by the duck tikka (which I've not seen anywhere else) with a plain naan as my main. Best Indian I've ever had, no competition. We were all so impressed by the courteous waiters, delicious food and quaint setting. We will be back!

Visited the Sunday buffet. We visited between lunch and dinner times so was the only customers however the staff were very welcoming and attentive. The buffet had the usual bahji, samosa, starters, bombay potato, sag aloo and tikka sag. Basic choice of mild tikka and korma for the children/those who like zero heat. Then a medium, fairly hot and very hot dish to choose from (these may change on different days). My daughter announced it qas the BEST tikka masala she has ever had@ The food was hot and extremely tasty!!! Well priced.

Pub
The Three Guineas in Reading is a charming Victorian pub conveniently located at the train station. It offers a wide selection of craft beers, ciders, wines, and spirits. The traditional menu features pies, salads, fish and chips, and burgers. The pub's ambiance is unmatched and it also serves cask ales. Opposite the station, there are ongoing developments including apartment and retail spaces with beautifully landscaped public areas.
A really large, enjoyable pub right next to Reading Station. Seating inside and out. A wide range of drinks and meals are available. Service is average, and can be slow when it's busy. Toilets are large and well kept. The decor is excellent with plenty of nods to the station and trains. Well worth a visit, particularly if you are leaving the station and have time. The only downside is that it's quite pricey.

We needed to feed a group of 16 people, which included 6 wheelchair users, after completing a Terry's Walkabout Tour nearby which overran. We couldn't have chosen a busier day and time (Saturday 16th August, 1.30pm). Reading were playing at home and people were congregating at the station to attend the nearby Rewind Music Festival. We managed to drag some tables together outside and got everyone a seat. The staff excelled! As the interior was rather full of people, Georgie and Louis came out to us to provide table service. Georgie was so professional, calm and advised us to get our food ordered ahead of drinks so that the kitchen could start preparing. Louis came out when one of the beers wasn't available and was very knowledgeable and helpful with suggesting an alternative. The food arrived quite quickly and was delicious! I had the Flatbread with chicken. A generous portion size and very tasty. The disabled toilet was spacious and clean (you need a RADAR key to access it), but was quite difficult to access due to the location and doors - plus navigating furniture inside the pub. Altogether, an amazing experience, considering we'd not booked and that we were such a large group! Can recommend! Thank you so much Georgie and Louis for looking after us so well - and to the chef for producing such excellent food.

On the whole I would rate as Good (4 stars). The good things were the service - friendly, warm and engaging. The food was tasty, but the portions are on the smaller side for the price charged. ***20% off food voucher in Jan when you register for the wifi*** two cocktails for £15 (5-9pm weekdays) is not bad, but again as you can see from the photos, small glasses containing mostly ice. Plenty of plug sockets to charge devices and an interesting building which was previously used as the station, with a few historical things on display which I like. So on the whole a pleasant place to eat and drink, but on the pricey side unless you can take advantage of the offers.

i ordered the all day breakfast (spent £20 on it) and to be brutally frank it was ridiculous… the beans came in a pot the same size as the ketchup.. it was like a portion for ants. the hash browns i paid £3 extra for were just 2 frozen mini hash browns. the flavour was bland and the plate was mostly just chips as those are the cheapest thing on the plate. it’s a let down as this place has been good for food in the past. not impressed at all and not once was i asked if the food was ok. beans pot shown next to my finger and ketchup dish for scale… i mean come on.. that’s absolutely crazy if you want all day breakfast head onto richfields cafe ( not far to walk to ) as they are much more reasonably priced and will make you a fresh homemade hasbrown (twice the size of those 2 frozen ones) for only £1 extra

We booked the Firefly Cellar Bar, under the Three Guineas, for our post-wedding party and couldn’t be happier with how our event went! The venue is a true hidden gem in Reading and the perfect space if you’re looking for something a bit different but still central and easily accessible. The food was fantastic, and service was top-notch. A huge shoutout to Bethany, Kelly, and the team for being so accommodating and providing a great experience from start to finish! We wouldn't hesitate to book here again.

Booked lunch here as convenient location for family to meet from different parts of the country. Pub side has security on entrance and was very busy - queue for bar 5 or 6 deep, back to the door and outdoor seating full. Our table was reseeced with a chalkboard, claiming 'cash only', alongside menus with online ordering and payment. Saw no staff for 20minutes, so used QR code to order. Music was suddenly turned up loud, so no chance of conversation with family. This was at 1pm on a Saturday and request for volume to be reduced ignored. Young male staff member served online order, was friendly but looked stressed and nervous. One burger was ordered without toppings or bun (these options were offered online) but was served as standard with unwanted mustard, salad, pickles and bun. We didn't bother complaining, as there were no restaurant staff around and bar staff were disinterested. Very expensive for not great service. Small portion of Shepherd's Pie was £20 and cheeseburger £18.50. Food was okay but nothing special for the price. Okay for food close to station, if you don't mind the cost, but would not recommend or visit again.

SHORT STORY! Needed a place to charge my phone, I was greeted respectfully by one of the servers Benji, I explained that my phone was dead, he found me a place to charge my phone, another colleague John went out of his way to find me and offer me his portable charger so I could use my phone alongside charging it. Went to the bar, lovely young woman named Tessa served me with a smile, and a gentle enthusiasm. Best place to go to charge your phone when you’re stranded. Good food aswell.

Good for the beer but had a bad smell, like oil mixed with wee. It also suffers from the problem a lot of pubs that do food in where you feel like you're in a restaurant, not a pub. I appreciated all the history littered about.

The Corn Stores is a stylish and cozy restaurant that places an emphasis on British ingredients and high-quality meat cuts, complemented by a selection of cocktails and craft beer. Housed in a beautifully restored Grade II-listed building near the station, it offers a unique dining experience across three floors. The menu, curated by John Sparks, showcases locally sourced produce, with the spotlight on expertly prepared meats from the on-site butchery and smoked salmon from the smokery.
The Corn Stores is an upmarket eatery on Forbury Road in Reading. I've been here a couple times now and will go again. The food is really very good. Specialty is the steak. This is a more expensive place to eat but you get what you pay for and the venue itself is very funky/chic. The staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive. Try the strawberry's and cream cocktail, this is an olfactory phenomenon. Initial hit of sugary sweet followed by an in mouth inversion into a rich cream. A very odd sensation but so good. The steaks are very good, if anything they undercook them so ask for a how you want it done one level above what you would normally (or talk to the staff, they can always cook more if underdone but can't undo overdone). Yes. Really cool venue. Really good food. A treat for your partner. Recommended.

One of the best little known gems in Reading. Whilst the menu is mostly stake, the enoki mushrooms are amazing and should not be missed by veggies. The wine and cocktail list is extensive but expertly curated.

Went here after reading the reviews and I must say we were not disappointed. Right from entering the restaurant, we were greeted really well and they even made space to store the 2 prams that we had. The lady that looked after us was really pleasant and courteous and ensured that we had a great experience. The food is simply amazing and I would definitely recommend going for the steak as your mains. It was cooked as per our specification and our entire group of 6 were very happy with the food. It's slightly on the expensive side but would definitely recommend for a special occasion. And great ambience too!

The Corn Stores has redefined food for me. My husband and I visited for our second anniversary as advised by Google (best restaurants to visit for your anniversary in reading). We ordered the bbq tiger prawns and beef tartar for starters. Fillet and bauvette from the grill menu, and two portions crispy landaise potato. And to end the night we ordered the torched pavlova and lemon tart for dessert. The succulent prawns was a refreshing start to my evening. When our main dish arrived our expectations continued to be exceeded, the tender steak was oozing with flavour. The steak was also cooked to the requested temperature. The potato was filled with flavour and had great consistency. The tiny bits of bacon proved to be the perfect complement for the potatoes. The mains were followed by The Torched pavlova and lemon tart. The pavlova was creamy yet, crunchy, yet spongey. Admittedly, the first spoon left me wildly confused, the combination of flavours and textures were deliciously satisfying. The cocktails reminded me of the Caribbean bursting with flavour. I ordered a Berkshire Bakewell and 10 Forbury Road. My husband ordered the evolutionist, this cocktail is not for the faint at heart. To sum it up, the food was Delicious!!! The atmosphere at the restaurant was relaxed. The staff were welcoming. At the end of the evening, we were planning on our next visit.

Anyways had a lovely time here. Very polite and observant staff and excellent food. Currently (December 2020) we are in tier 2 and they offer fine dining. What an experience! Every dish was superb and a work of art. One of the best restaurants in Reading for sure!

Best fine dining venue in reading, what more can you ask for. Food is incredible and spot on. Drink and cocktails are just perfect. I’ve been here a few times now. Everything we have had phenomenal service from Jay and his team. Mel running the bar and floor was one of best I’ve seen in the industry. I would highly recommend her S’more cocktail was a delight

First time in Reading this century. The staff at this brasserie are excellent; the food not so much. The starter and main course were well presented and cooked however they lacked taste. The sauces which accompanied each dish had good texture but added no taste to the dishes. A real disappointment. I would consider going again for the good atmosphere and excellent staff, however, when next in Reading, I shall be looking for a different restaurant.

A lovely meal served by friendly and attentive staff. I'm glad we rang and checked they were actually open as it did look closed when we walked there from the station, the lights outside hadn't turned on and you couldn’t see anything inside!

I don't make this review lightly, but this is genuinely the best pizza and service I've had in a very long time. I didn't get the lady's name who served me, but I believe she was the manager. She was very honest with me that food would take slightly longer to cook (I didn't mind waiting though, because the reviews said it was excellent). I picked up the food and I genuinely cannot believe how nice it is. I got a pizza and garlic bread with cheese (Plus 30% OFF, as part of their deal this month... Madness!) and its genuinely the best pizza I've had in years. I'm just visiting from Newcastle for the night and I'm gutted I won't be able to have this more in future! I highly recommend.
Aaron B — Google review
Lower than this and I would have sent the food back. No flavours and only full of sauces. Nothing was fresh. Even the salad must have been cut days before. Chicken was dry, vegetables tasteless, ribs seemed microwaved. Only the chips and the beer were ok and that says a lot. Nowhere near Italian style.

Great service & delicious food ! I had the vegan burger and it was 10/10. I thought the pickle on the top was a nice touch! Welcoming staff and very helpful :) Will be coming back for more! I’d love to see some more vegan options / could change into vegan on the special menu 😍

Sensational Sunday lunch I visited this lovely place for a Sunday lunch. There was a wide range of both meat and vegetarian options available. One of the very few pubs locally that have other vegetarian options such as chilli and curry, such a good find. Pau Brasil is a cozy Portuguese-Brazilian deli-cafe located just a short drive or a 15-20-minute walk from the town center. The cafe offers classic and hearty Brazilian and Portuguese dishes, as well as coffee drinks. The menu includes a variety of warm snacks such as salt cod fishcakes, braised chicken coxinha, potato and cheese croquettes, and Iberian samosas.
This restaurant is a breathe of fresh air in Reading! The food is exquisite, like a warm home cooked meal. It's my first time trying the Feijoada (the one in picture is a small portion) and it did not disappoint - it's smoky and the meat is so tender. The atmosphere is also very nice. Although there's only a few seating areas, it's a nice quiet place to enjoy the food, your coffee, and just be.

Thirsty Bear Pub & Pizza Restaurant is a laid-back spot on Kings Road, Reading, offering a variety of Italian dishes and an impressive drinks menu. The stylish interiors and rooftop terrace provide a cool dining experience. Their specialty lies in serving outstanding pizzas made with a secret dough recipe and homemade sauce. In addition to the pizza selection, they offer Italian appetizers, pasta dishes, cocktails, beer, and wine.
The food was really good. We tried the 20-inch pizza, and it was enough for 3 people 😆. However, I didn't really enjoy my carbonara pasta that much, and I think it could be better. I think there was also a new staff who wasn't that confident and forgot to put in one of our orders and we had to wait after our food came, but they gave use discount so it was quite fair. It was totally a nice visit and recommended for the large pizzas.
Iliya J — Google review
This place is such a hidden gem. Staff went above and beyond to make our (annoyingly) specific order. It has lovely vibe with a cosy rooftop terrace to enjoy an ice cold pint and delicious giant pizza slices. I cannot recommend this place enough!

My family and I recently discovered Thirsty Bear Pub and Pizza, and it has quickly become our go-to spot whenever we're craving pizza! The variety on their menu is fantastic, offering a wide selection of pizzas that cater to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian tastes. As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see plenty of creative options that didn’t make me feel limited. For those who enjoy meat, there’s an even broader range of choices that my friends highly recommend. The pizza here is always fresh, flavorful, and made with quality ingredients. The crust is just the right balance of crispy and soft, and the toppings are generous without overpowering the base. To top it off, Thirsty Bear also has an impressive range of drinks, perfect for pairing with the meal. Whether you’re a fan of craft beer or prefer non-alcoholic options, there’s something for everyone. Prices are affordable, making it a great spot for both quick bites and relaxed gatherings. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, ideal for spending time with friends or family. Thirsty Bear Pub and Pizza has truly become our favorite pizza destination, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone

If you're willing to walk a little out of town this place is incredible! Our party of three had a phenomenal experience at The Thirsty Bear, the beer was great, the music playlist was brilliant, the staff were so lovely and the food.. just wow, you might think that it's a little pricey for a slice of pizza but the slices are huge and the quality made it more than worth the price. My favourite thing would definitely have to be the Jalapeno Poppers. We will definitely be booking in again.

Had to write a review after my second order because honestly, their pizza is bloody amazing. First tried it takeaway, then ordered on Deliveroo, and both times it was phenomenal. Like, seriously, the best pizza I've ever had, hands down. My absolute fave is the Hell's Kitchen pizza. It's got a kick, but nothing that'll make you cry (unless you're that way inclined, of course!). Honestly, can't recommend Thirsty Bear enough. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Bhel Puri House is a charming eatery located near Workhouse Coffee and The Oracle in Reading. It offers an extensive menu catering to vegetarian diets, featuring delightful dishes such as the almost-legendary chilli paneer, Punjabi samosas, and crispy bhajia with bright orange carrot chutney. Visitors praise the friendly service and reasonable prices. The place also boasts an impressive collection of Indian sweets and 'chat' varieties, along with excellent ginger tea and Kachori Dal.
Love this place! Always amazing flavours and great pricing. My go to is the mogo hoho, Hakka noodles with the somosa chaat (if feeling extra hungry will get the chilli paneer) the heat level is just right too. Easy to understand why this is a long standing restaurant
Teakyz W — Google review
Feels like being in a dhaba more than a restaurant with all the noise around. Ordered a lot of our favourite dishes to snack on as a group. Bhel Puri was amazing, Papdi Chaat was good too, the Schezuan Noodles however was a miss. Also, the Paneer Chilli was a bit too salty so we couldn’t eat much of it. I’d come back or do a takeaway for the bhel puri at least.

Tried the restaurant first time and had a decent experience. Dahi puri was my favourite. Price point wise I think it was slightly higher for a fully vegetarian menu. I haven’t tried many vegetarian restaurants though so I may be wrong!
Farheen B — Google review
Authentic Indian food isn’t just about heat; it’s about a symphony of flavors. The harmonious blend of spices like cumin, coriander, turmeric, and cardamom creates layers of taste that dance on the palate. Each dish is carefully balanced to ensure that the spices enhance, rather than overpower, the natural flavors of the ingredients.

I have been a regular visitor to this cafe for a few years, visiting after work with friends. Behind the slightly ramshackle appearance is a great offering, a wide range of traditional Indian vegetarian dishes at reasonable prices. The quality is excellent, and it's a friendly, informal place. Favourites for me are the Punjabi Samosas and Bhel Puri puffed rice. I love the lime soda as well. Thanks 😊

Fantastic quality, great flavours, reasonably priced. Prompt service and a very good variety of Indian Street Food. When asking for milder versions of dishes, it was a bit worrying that everything is pre-made and so could not be accommodated- query how fresh the dishes are. We were recommended of this place for Nepali food. 4 of us visited for lunch and we were not disappointed! We ordered Veg steamed Momo and Veg Chilli Momo, Waiwai Sadheko, Sel set, Puri Tarkari, Veg fried rice and Dhido Thali. The food was delicious, home cooked style and reasonably priced. For us the Dhido Thali was a surprise find as its a close match to 'Ragi Mudde' of Karnataka. Highly recommend this to anyone missing the Mudde in UK! Will definitely visit again

Service left a lot to be desired, but the food was great. We had pani pur, steamed veg momo and pan fried chicken momp to start. Sadly the veg momo had paneer which we didn't know until it came, meaning I couldn't eat them. However they were devoured by my companions. Then we got 3 thalis. 2 chicken and 1 veg. A nice variety and meant we could try a little of everything. Can't compare to other Nepalese places in oxford as this was the first one we tried. If service was better/friendlier/faster it'd be a full 5 stars Prices were reasonable. We would all return.

Honestly, the staff on front of house is so rude and not even know the meaning of customer service. The worst part is we received the food which has been added with expired items it seems. We ordered Chatpate and the quality of the food was disastrous. I post this here because no one should be facing this experience again, at least they would check review and go to that restaurant. Also, if there is a management team exists, they can train the front of house lady staff, food quality and store experience. Decided to go again there if the staff got a proper training on customer service or a better hiring.

Wing Wednesday - The new cauliflower coating wings are not an improvement. Either running in oil or just entirely batter, it's not a great option. The waits between rounds of wings for the rest were incredibly long - well over an hour and only one round. No drinks unless we went and chased them. And a Mac and cheese that had been warm once ..... Overall, not a great experience.
Michael C — Google review
We did Wing Wednesday and it was a little disappointing compared to last time - I don’t eat chicken wings so I had the cauliflower wings both times and this time they have changed how they do them. They have a thick batter (similar to Chinese chicken balls) which was quite stodgy and the person I was with were very soggy and neither of us had more than the first plate. I do recommend this deal for the regular chicken wings though as everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their meals - we only found issues with the cauliflower. Service can be a bit slow at times too but I think it was more cause we were hidden away in the corner as generally it’s pretty good.
Bells — Google review
The chicken wings are really tasty, unfortunately the bottomless part doesn’t really apply because we had to keep going up to the bar to ask for drinks and another round until we gave up. The servers are really lovely but maybe understaffed because no-one came round to ask about drinks or food. The two vegetarians with us got the cauliflower wings which were completely inedible, dripping in fat, soggy & about 2 inches of batter all around which was super disappointing for them. We tried to get some Mac & cheese for one of them but this came stone cold too so they gave up & had something elsewhere afterwards. I do really appreciate you taking these off the bill but I won’t be able to convince the non chicken eaters to come back & even the chicken eaters were pretty disappointed with the delays

Wings Wednesday at BrewDog Reading is always excellent, done it several times now. Love the food, atmosphere and of course the beer. Staff are great and for much of our visit there was only one lady serving a pretty busy floor and she was superb given how busy things got.
Garry T — Google review
The chicken strips and dry and tough to chew, the sauce does not help this. It took and hour and a half to receive 2 plates of wings/strips on the unlimited wings Wednesday.

This Lebanese eatery in Reading is highly regarded for its delectable cuisine. The set menu offers a delightful array of appetizers, including hummus and various other dips, as well as bite-sized treats. The mixed grill is particularly noteworthy, accompanied by a refreshing salad and rice. The portion sizes are adequate for a group of four. The beverages are both enjoyable and reasonably priced.
Absolutely delicious meal - would highly recommend the baba ghanoush and arayes! All the staff were lovely and we even got a free baklava. We will definitely be coming back😍

Went on a Friday night, pretty busy and the food was great. Shame the new decor is pretty bland compared to when it was Lebanese nights. The two decorative chairs help raise the game though! Service was slow when we first arrived, but improved as the night went on. Shame there are no belly dancers anymore either! 😍

Had a wonderful dinner with friends. Delicious starters and mixed grills. Staff were welcoming, friendly and service was good. Lovely setting and atmosphere.

Really enjoyed this one. Wonderful food that appeared to be very authentic. We chose the sharing platter as it seemed to have a little of everything. We are far from disappointed. Everyone loved the food. The restaurant was busy so service was a touch slower than I would normally expect but the quality of the service was fantastic. We will definitely return.

Today, after a long time, I visited Lebanese Village again and ordered lamb shank and hummus. Honestly, I was so excited to taste the food that I completely forgot to take a photo before starting! That alone shows how tempting and delicious the dishes were. Everything was excellent as always, with authentic flavors and no change compared to the past. The hummus was absolutely amazing because it’s freshly and carefully made in-house. The staff, as usual, were very professional and friendly. In the end, I managed to take a few photos of what was left of my meal, which in itself is the best proof of how great the food was.

Lovely staff! Happy to take us as a walk in even when we arrived late at night, food so so tasty especially the chicken and vine leaves. Thank you!

First time ordering from Lebanese Village via Uber Eats, and I was pleasantly surprised! I went for the special mixed grill (perfect portion for one) which included grilled lamb and chicken breast cubes, a minced lamb skewer, lamb rib, one lamb chop, rice with vermicelli, plus garlic and chili sauce. The meat was cooked beautifully, moist, flavourful, and the lamb rib was tender, falling off the bone. The grilled cubes were packed with flavour, and I loved how they layered everything on top of the rice so the juices soaked in. Even as a takeaway, it arrived fresh, well-packaged, and still delicious on delivery. If I had to nitpick, it only came with one lamb chop and I would’ve liked some grilled vegetables on the side to balance it out. But overall, a really enjoyable meal, now I’m excited to visit the restaurant in person!

Fast food restaurant
Burger King is a prominent fast-food chain that has made its mark with a menu featuring grilled burgers, crispy fries, and delicious shakes. As new burger joints continue to pop up in towns like Reading, some locals express concerns about the health implications of these eateries. Despite this sentiment, Burger King remains one of the top choices among residents alongside McDonald's and KFC. The atmosphere at Burger King in Reading is particularly noteworthy; it boasts a modern interior that creates an inviting space for diners.

Today on 25 November at 14:25, I wanted to order something because the self service was not working properly i went at the counter to order there , the manager her name is Daria was very Rude and she was really shouting and arguing with me with her attitude and telling me that I should go even said to me to go and used the inappropriate language which you can’t use in costumer service, you are not telling to your clients bye and don’t want to serve them just because i had the guts to said the self service was nit working, is very disappointing that a Manager could talk like that as i know that a manager is the etiquette of a place, not an enemy of the costumers! Very bad attitude and atmosphere regarding other costumers that they where in the restaurant at the time to see how am Manager is screening

I went to this Burger King, twice in the space of two weeks, and both times extremely unhappy. The order took over 10 minutes to be "made" (for one meal to go!) And it wasn't even busy (one other person waiting) but it was the food that really disappointed me. I had gotten my food to take home after work, so couldn't even complain when I noticed. I first got the Steakhouse meal and we'll, you can see how that looks... And then my favourite, the chicken royale... And one both, the burger buns were dry and tasted stale, the lettuce (what was there) was browning and disgusting... Burger King are more expensive than McDonald's, and yet somehow McDonald's seem to be able to produce better products.... Come on Burger King Reading sort it out! You're the only Burger King available to most people in Reading and you're screwing it up by not giving them the quality products you advertise.... Hopefully they'll turn things around. But I personally won't be returning any time soon.

Filter Coffee House is a popular spot in Reading center known for its top-notch filter coffee and delicious takeaway options. The menu features a variety of treats, including mochas and hot chocolates made with real chocolate, as well as freshly made sandwiches with plenty of vegetarian options. The cozy space often collaborates with local businesses to offer an array of tasty treats.
A intimate coffee shop serving the best coffee in Reading City Centre. The baked goods are cooked on site. It sells a surprising number of local foods including peanut and almond butter. The staff are chatty and happy to assist… I almost forgot, they have a La Marzocco G2 Espresso machine. That’s cooler than being cool.
David C — Google review
A very cosy place with a good selection of coffees. I had a masala chai which you could taste all the different spices in. So I highly recommend this. The pastries and sandwiches are fantastic so be sure to give them a try as well. Little coffee places are much better than the large chains, so make sure to walk the extra couple steps and come give this place a visit. What have you got to lose? You're only gonna waste £5 on a mediocre coffee from Costa anyway 🤷‍♂️
Penguin — Google review
Almost missed this low-key place until I parked outside and noticed the window. There’s only room for about three customers and it was cosy on a cold early Sunday morning. Very friendly guy working was helpful, informative and chatty. The masala chai was outstanding! On his recommendation I tried the savoury baked egg pie; lovely subtly-spiced onions and egg in nigella-studded puff pastry. Next I’ll try their much-vaunted coffee. Highly recommended but don’t blink-you’ll miss it!

Amazing, cozy little place authenticity is definitely something that stands out here .. the smell of the chai brewing is lovely and fresh. The pastries are so flavour, fresh not stale at all. My first time but won’t be my last . Such a quirky intimate place

Bright and clean place, very friendly staff. Super popular; several people in queue ahead of me and more came along. This fried banana bun... such an amazing taste, very interesting. Fresh and sort of crisp exterior but soft inside. No wet grease from frying on the bag. Tasty from fist bite to last. I can see why it's popular. Had a hint of Indian spices in the taste taste but it didn't overpower the banana which came through consistently. Also got an iced cinnamon swirl/bun (they do a different product that they called a cinnamon bun). It was so tasty. Lots of sugar crunch, taste of icing and cinnamon, nothing overpowering, all balanced and not overpowering sweet. Super interesting shop and a great find.
Kate F — Google review
Perfect little takeaway spot. The coffee is some of the best on offer in Reading. I’ve also tried some of the sandwiches and pastries - Chutney & chicken salad, grilled cheese sandwich, egg pastry and the halwa - all of them were delicious and keep me coming back for more!! I happily walk across town to come here.
Ohhiknow — Google review
I'd definitely recommend this place to anybody, and what a great opportunity to support a small local independent business! I'm not a coffee drinker, but I've heard it's great! On the other side, they offer amazing masala chai, vegan option included ; great selection of pasties (delicious, cannot wait to try all of them) and sandwiches!
Marianna A — Google review
I seriously recommend the signature filter kapi. The taste is not similar to coffee you'd find from typical specialty coffee shops due to the blend of dark roasted beans blended with chicory. This combination results in forward strong chocolate notes followed by floral notes which balance out the bitterness you'd expect from a dark roast. I recommend letting the drink cool down initially for a few minutes before trying as once it's cooled down a little, the more delicate flavours will be revealed resulting in an interesting flavour journey. Bear in mind the size of the regular drink isn't necessarily the biggest but the lower price reflects that. The shop isn't the biggest so there isn't any interior seating aside from a bench so please keep that in mind if you decide to visit.

Biryani Mama is an Indian restaurant known for serving up classic dishes like butter chicken and chilli paneer alongside a variety of cocktails. The restaurant offers good seating space and friendly staff, making it a comfortable place to enjoy authentic Indian cuisine. While some diners found the biryani to be a bit dry, others enjoyed the flavorful starters. The menu is diverse, catering to various preferences.
We ordered nandu rasam( crab soup), corn chicken soup, chicken saucy , chettinad chicken britani, prawn fried rice, lemonade, egg briyani. That taste was very good👍. Rest room also well maintained. This is the best South Indian restaurant in chester.this restaurant is very nearer to station ( walkable distance).

We visited Reading on the weekend and were looking for places to eat. Browsed online and seen Biryani Mama's rating, so we decided to give it a go. We walked in well after lunch time, the place still had a few tables available. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table. We decided to try the chicken lollipops, butter chicken, garlic and chilli naan, and the chicken fried rice. The dishes were quickly served and were of decent portions. The lollipops were delicious alongside the schezwann sauce. And the butter chicken, was creamy and really yummy, it went really well with the crispy chilli garlic naan. We really enjoyed our meal and the service was great + I got a taste of Thumbs up all time favorite Indian cold drink. The fried was also quite decent. The reason I have given 4 ⭐ rather than 5, is down to the mango lassi we ordered, it was thick and had a good consistency but it lacked the sweetness and therefore it disappointed. But overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant and hopefully next time we visit the lassi will be spot on 🙂.

We recently had Biryani Mama cater a large corporate event for over 120 people, and it was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. The menu was impressively diverse, offering a wide selection of vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and even vegan dishes, each prepared with evident care and authentic flavors. Every guest found something to love, and the feedback from our team was incredibly positive. Many commented that this was the best Indian food they’d ever had at a corporate gathering. What truly sets Biryani Mama apart is the masterful touch of the chef. Every dish whether the biryanis, flavorful curries, or the fresh garlic naan was bursting with vibrant spices and perfectly balanced aromas. The chef effortlessly adapted to suit all dietary requirements, making sure every guest felt included and warmly welcomed. It’s rare to see such attention to detail paired with such consistent quality, especially for an event of this scale. The service was seamless and professional, and the team went above and beyond to accommodate our requests. Our guests were delighted and genuinely happy, many came back for seconds, and some even asked for takeaway boxes for their families! Biryani Mama delivered an experience that truly exceeded our expectations and made our event memorable. If you are searching for a caterer who brings magic to every meal and leaves your guests raving, I highly recommend Biryani Mama. Their culinary artistry, hospitality, and ability to handle high-volume events with finesse are second to none. We will absolutely be returning for future events!
Sathya K — Google review
I really liked this place, there was something genuine, authentic, almost utilitarian about it. Be prepared that service isn't fast, although it was no problem for me. The food was delicious, especially the garlic naan. The mutton pepper was also just the right kind of spicey. It wasn't a busy night, but there was a steady coming and going of delivery people. I'm unlikely to be back in Reading any time soon, but if so, I'll definitely be back.

I had lunch at Biryani Mama today and it was fantastic! I ordered a few chicken dishes along with biryani and malabar porotta, and everything was bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. The biryani was especially delicious — fragrant, rich, and authentic. The portions were generous, and the food was served hot and fresh. Overall, a wonderful dining experience with great taste and quality. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend Biryani Mama to anyone who loves authentic and flavorful Indian food!

Atmosphere and service is really good. But the food is average. We have ordered 1.Dindugal thalappakatti chicken 65 biryani- 5/10 - chicken is not at all good. 2. Pallipalayam chicken- Not the actual receipe -4/10 3. Chicken kottu 5/10 Overall i would say ok.

Co-op Food is a supermarket chain that offers groceries and household items while emphasizing social responsibility. Customers appreciate the great selection of bread at reasonable prices, along with helpful and friendly staff. The store is known for its decent deals and nice ready-to-eat meals, although some customers have noted limited options for certain products like baby food and nappies. Despite this, the store's convenience, cleanliness, and late opening hours are praised by many shoppers.
Great local. Staff are absolutely fantastic. They're super friendly and so helpful. Great produce, don't really go anywhere else to shop anymore 😊

The listed closing time is 10 PM, but we’ve had multiple experiences where the actual closing seemed earlier. Most recently, on 25th November at 9:40 PM, the shutter was already half down. When we knocked on the glass door, the staff responded rudely. Instead of explaining why they had closed early, they chose to lower the shutter further. I would advise against visiting after 9:30 PM, as you might encounter rude behavior from the staff and feel disrespected.
Rahul M — Google review
Updating review now we're not under such strict rules. Have to commend the great selection of bread, reasonable prices. Staff always nice. Lack of Dr Pepper annoys me, just Dr Pepper Zero which is an odd choice. Often decent deals and the rest meals are nice. Baby food is a little overpriced and not a great range of nappies but okay in an emergency. Like that they're open late too. Plus it's always clean. A very convenient store.
Bentley F — Google review
Good range of products. Very helpful staff. It's a local store so obviously can run out of popular lines. Generally has seasonal items, handy if you're forgotten to get an Easter egg! Very small car park and awkward to park otherwise. Very close to a large school so best to avoid beginning and end of school day

Rude Eastern European woman working there, I questioned the price of icecream as thought was on offer and she snapped back no aggressively. Went to check and the way the labels were spread made it look like it was that item. Then she came to check and put the item back in freezer so I had to get it out again. Got home and realised she hadn’t put one of the items in the bag that I paid for. Usually lovely staff but this woman was moody and unfriendly

What a lovely young lady helpful you have in your store. We need more people like that I couldn't find the tea section. She was tell me she was having pizza 🍕 such a happy person ☺️
Patricia M — Google review
I have been here just four times during this pandemic and I try not to go to this store unless I am desperate for milk/bread. Reasons are that I have encountered people without masks on each visit, rowdy customers inside being loud and rude. A young person shouted at me that they didn't need to wear a mask if they didn't want to, even though I hadn't spoken! I find the aisles small so it's hard to be able to distance from other people wanting to pass by. The staff seem friendly though and could do with more support from management to cope with the type of customers that they might come across which are not too nice. Maybe evening/night time security to ensure numbers inside are not too many plus that people are wearing a mask and not being threatening to others who are.
Dawn C — Google review
A small local convenience store for when you need a few bits. It is close by where most of their customers live (there's another only about a mile away) and next to a shared use cycle path. However, whilst they provide 13 car parking spaces, the cycle parking is completely useless i.e. maybe 5 wheel benders - but packed so closely together that if anyone were foolish enough to use them, they'd be full after 3 bikes. And this is on a new build development that is less than 5 years old - the developers have managed to find space for numerous flower beds though.

The venue if this place is beautifully made and in a beautiful location. It is a HUGE shame that the food is disgusting and the service and management is equally as disgusting. I've been there twice. The first time we left straight after starters and the second time we hosted an event there. The manager himself was OK but not very warm and his assistant.... Words cannot describe the rudeness that man has. Just awful. After getting a glimpse of the inside of the kitchen, I don't think I will ever dine there again either. That venue needs real business minded people who can do it justice.

We hosted an event here recently. Some of our attendees left due to the way the manager reduced his staff to tears with shouting and verbal abuse. Very unprofessionally run. A real shame as the location is stunning. We host a lot of events and this has been the worst venue a have attended due to the management.

So much potential! Beautiful location with great views but this place just doesn't seem to know what it is. Had a few work parties here and they do a decent BBQ but organising was a struggle and we ended up walking over to discuss the booking. We then followed up by email several times about a drinks package and paying the deposit but received no response. Luckily when we turned up they were expecting us, but this place needs a shake up. It could be so much more! Often empty and with little atmosphere, new furniture would be a start as many of the chairs have broken cushions, the same as every time I've been. Shake it up guys!

This place is absolutely dirty. Toilets door locks all broken so I couldn't even look the door. Chairs outside very dirty. Spiders everywhere.. Honestly I'm not surprised that Island bar was nearly empty on Friday night. If you're not going to do something about it you will loose all customers. I give 2 stars only, because the staff was nice and friendly, other wise it would be only one star. Sorry, but years ago the place looked different. Unfortunately now I wouldn't recommend it.

With its rooftop bar offering stunning views and a lively outdoor space, it's an ideal spot to unwind with friends over delicious cocktails and market-style dishes like sourdough pizzas and burgers.
It's hard to know how to condense what I want to say about this place and all of its staff... I organised a 2 day event here, with the help of Makana and Olivia. Around 40 people with 15 needing rooms. The team were flawless, friendly, professional and beyond helpful. Once at the venue I was in awe. The website and photos don't truly capture the size or more importantly, the vibe. It was closed and empty when I arrived (apart from staff setting up) but the lights were on and music playing and immediately the anxiety I'd had as the even organiser evaporated, being replaced with a building excitement for the days to come. Every single one of my attendees commented on how spectacular the rooms were, how good the food was, how smoothly the events ran. Shout out to Rich, Kasha and Ben behind the bar for keeping us going with our food and drinks, making my expenses easy to pay and file. Huge thanks to Olivia for being on site and on hand at all times, so often not the case with event managers! Will definitely be back again some time!

Reserved the karaoke shack for a get together with my friends and we all had a ton of fun! The shack was cosy, private and the decor was aesthetically pleasing. The karaoke machine had a wide range of songs to search and select from. Highly recommend for a fun get together activity! Although I think the little window would do with a little blind or a curtain and it'd be great if there was an option to have more than 2 microphones but overall an amazing experience!

Brilliant pub in the centre of Reading. Great atmosphere with customers playing shuffle boards, singing in the karaoke booth, playing darts etc. Not the best place if you want a quiet drink, but I enjoyed it. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DID NOT HAVE A MEAL THIS VISIT. This is the reason there is only one star against the food score.

My Daughter and her Husband chose Market House for their wedding reception. The atmosphere was relaxed and the wedding not at all formal. All who attended ( about 50 people) had a fantastic day on the Third Floor roof Terrace. Makana who managed the event worked tirelessly to ensure that the day went well and without any issues. On the day she was lovely to deal with and nothing was too much trouble. Both Makana and the staff who worked on the event deserve a great deal of credit for the way it ran. Thank you all x KD

We visited on a weekday summer's evening and made for the roof terrace. The rooftop bar was closed so rounds of drinks required a trip back to the ground floor in the lift, which is odd, but we had a good time nonetheless. There is shade and, on a hot day, the extra ventilation is very welcome. I imagine the ground floor is cosy on a cool day. Food good - can recommend the pizzas.

Very tasty. Excellent service. We had tapas and the portions are huge, we only barely finished the 7 plates between 4 of us. The meat balls are the size of tennis balls! It is a little expensive, came to £26 each for 2 drinks each and 2 desserts in addition to the mains - we were fully stuffed. Individual dishes can be a lot more expensive (into £30 and up each). Thick free bread and butter provided as well. Fruit drinks and all food were completely fresh. The menu on the website is broken - there are about 10 pages of menus, not 1. Chocolate treats on receipt of bill as well. I would visit here again as a nice treat but don't feel like dying to do so.

Amazing food, good vibes with great company what more can you ask for? The staff saw that we where new to the restaurant so the made us feel at home and recommend what tapas go with what wines. We ended up having the Paella Valenciana and we didn't regret it one bit.
AJ S — Google review
Super friendly staff, good wine, not too busy but nice atmosphere even half full! Picks up second hour of lunch service. Food is good, we had the Tapas menu, you should aim for two options per adult. Approx £25 a head.
David C — Google review
My girlfriend and I went for some food at Picasso. The menu was pretty pricey for tapas but we though it might be because the quality of the food was worthy of the price. We both hoped we had found a hidden gem. The first thing that raised alarm bell was the cold & slightly stale baguettes served with rock hard butter. However I'm fairly forgiving when I eat out so I tried not to let it colour my opinion. We ordered 4 of the tapas which ranged from £8 - £10 and a bottle of wine for £16. (The wine was pretty cheap tasting and wasn't particularly nice, although not undrinkable, I wasn't going to let that deter me although it was low quality considering it was sixteen quid) Our tapas arrived, the portions were very generous: The meat balls were both pink in the middle whilst also tough on the outside, quite an achievement. The meatballs had clearly been made in a large batch and had been left sitting in the sauce whilst exposed to the air, the outside of each meatball was hard on the top half and soft on the bottom half. The chorizo was overcooked, and very hard. The diced potatoes and spicy sauce consisted of deep fried potato cubes with a bland tomato sauce. The best dish we had was the chicken and prawns which tasted great! Overall the service was passable, although not massively engaging, but that's fine. Accidents do happen of course but having the left overs from my meal dropped on me at the end was unfortunate. To the credit of the waiter he did offer us a round of free drinks as an apology which was a nice gesture. The final bill was £52 for two which considering the quality, in my opinion was a little overpriced. I have seen other good reviews for this restaurant, so we may have caught them on a bad day perhaps
Joff — Google review
Exquisite food of the highest quality and service. The portions were large and the food was fresh. I've spent three weeks in Reading on Business, staying at the Crowne Plaza hotel and Picasso is only a couple blocks away. My favorites Rack of lamb w/ honey. Peppercorn Steak. Chicken breast and King prawns. I have a particular place in my heart for their Prawn tapas dish as well as the Mushrooms!
Seth P — Google review
Worst thing here is the portions are huge so you can't sample as many as you'd like. My advice is get a group big enough that you can just order one of everything and then sample every dish. Have been a few times and the food is great, the staff are really friendly.

Bhoj is a modest restaurant that serves familiar subcontinental dishes with options for vegetarians and seafood lovers. The establishment offers a magical experience with its heavenly aromas and spices, creating a symphony of tantalizing flavors. Despite its unassuming decor and size, the restaurant is praised for serving some of the best North Indian food. Visitors commend the friendly staff, varied menu, and particularly recommend trying the stuffed paratha.
Great food, I have eaten a lot of Indian food and this little gem is very close to the best I have experienced. Staff were friendly and helpful, but it was a quiet night! The menu is varied and interesting and the stuffed paratha was the best I have ever had, light and fluffy! Top marks from me and I wholeheartedly recommend you give it a try.

Updated Review - Tried again after they relocated next to Hexagon, thinking that they might have improved. But, sad, nothing has changed. When asked, if they cook veg and non-veg food in separate pots, their reply was - You cant get that even in 5 star hotels. If you want that sort of separation, you better eat at home! Worst possible reply from manager of a restaurant. Original Review - Awfully unfriendly staff. Unlike any other decent restaurant in the country, they cannot serve you to your dietary requirements and are very rude on that, to an extent that they suggested me to cancel the order. Shame, that the good food they make would have deserved a much better service. Go to them only to feel insulted.
Prakash M — Google review
This place has the most inconsistent service ever. At times the food is sooo good that no other restaurant can beat its quality and at time the food is so bad that we almost decide never to visit again. Butter Chicken is usually my favorite dish from Bhoj but yesterday when I ordered it, it tasted pathetic..no taste, no texture, felt like we are eating just the tomato puree. This is not the first time. Whenever we go there we cannot guarantee it would taste the same as it was last time. I understand taste might change from chef to chef but you should also be able to maintain the quality as such. Also the owner of the restaurant is really rude. When we ordered for home delivery, he says you stay nearby why don't you come and collect it. We are paying £1.50 for the home delivery (and in this case it was already paid) you cannot dictate what we need to do. If you are providing home delivery it's your job to deliver no matter how close people stay. Only thing I can say is this place was much better when it was a small restaurant at the Oxford street. Since it has become commercial, it has lost the touch.

Real indian (northern) India food, brilliant for vegetarians. We have been going to Bhoj before they moved into the centre of reading. Their menu is both tasty and reflects the food you find in India. The service is pleasant and we find the team friendly.
Jeremy P — Google review
Ignore all those reviews about bad service - this place is OUTRAGEOUSLY AMAZING. Best Indian food I've ever eaten, staff incredibly helpful and were quick to explain the dishes to us, give us something extra when we pointed to the wrong dish, and were just generally pleasant people who went out of their way to make sure we were okay. Perfect!
Sam F — Google review
As a someone from north indian descent and who regularly cooks north indian food at home, I have to admit this is the best tasting food in Reading. Ignore the decor and size of the restaurant and you will get some of the tastiest food here. I come from London to eat here and on my many visits I have never experienced poor or rude service or long wait times. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants proper north indian food.
Ranbeer B — Google review
Unfortunately, the lowest rating is 1 star. This place deserves negative rating. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. We have been ordering food from Bhoj for a couple of years. Over the last six months, the quality of food has dropped so drastically, you'd think they don't have a chef, just random people cooking whatever and however they like. One of our curries was basically semi-cooked tomatoes with boiled chicken pieces, and no taste. It was supposed to be a dish with fenugreek, which has a pleasantly bitter taste, but the curry had no fenugreek. We had ordered rice which wasn't delivered. Maybe, this is what happens when you move from a small take away/delivery model to a fancy restaurant in a more upscale locality. If your only option is bread and butter or a meal from Bhoj, stick to the bread and butter. It will taste better and satisfy you better.
Nandan S — Google review
5 stars for the food, I haven't tasted better in Reading and nice, friendly service from the staff. 2 stars for their silly policy on having to order a side dish for every main dish. They missed out on us ordering a few extra sides because of that..not the fault of the staff who were just following the policy..

The Food Court Reading is a diverse and family-friendly dining destination located in the heart of Reading, opposite the Broad Street Mall. It features four separate restaurants offering a variety of cuisines, including New York-style coffee, pizza, noodles, desserts, and more. Visitors can enjoy ample seating space while indulging in delicious meals that are praised for their taste and generous portions. The friendly staff and hot, fresh food have left many patrons pleasantly surprised and eager to return for another satisfying dining experience.
Me and my wife tryed this place and I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised, very friendly staff, the noodles so tasty 10 out of 10 and a pizza was so fresh I thought they had a stone baked oven. probably hands down the best pizza in Reading at the moment and the pink tea, amazing, well actually it could do with a little bit less sugar but that's personal preference. The food was so nice we went back the next day.

If you are looking for a diverse food & family friendly place to have your lunch, this is the place to be. It has a large seating area & conveniently located in the middle of Reading opposite to Broad Street Mall! Food court is made of 3 restaurants, one serving noodles 🍜🥡primarily but they do have fried rice too. The 2nd is desserts 🍨& the 3rd is mainly 🍕 . We ordered food from the two restaurants & it was decent, delicious & good size too. The only issue is that the price was a bit higher than other locations serving the same dishes. The place lacks ventilation & so it smoke filled up the place & bothers people who are sensitive to it. Overall, good choice for lunch with good offers 🍜🥗🍝🥡

Had loaded Fries from here. Fries had no jalapeños as they ran out but no one told us. Had to hunt for steak in the Fries found only traces of steak. When spoke to the staff about it they did nothing about it. Never going to this place ever. Avoid if you don't want to be disappointed. Money and time wasted.

Oodles! So good we came back a second time on our weekend away. Spicy chips and crispy chicken is heavenly! Regular box looks deceivingly small but it's the perfect amount! Wait time a little long when not busy, but il wait for good food! And served with a friendly smile to the table. We have a new favourite! Will be back when next in Reading.

Great experience here with my family. We were all able to order different things, and enjoyed sitting in to eat. The prices were really good, and made the experience even better. Toilets could do with better cleaning though, this would be my only complaint. But they left the cleaning products in the stalls, so I could clean the seat before and after use.
Marble R — Google review
Very bad food. I spent around 12£, I took vegetarian rice, Malaysian chicken and kung pow chicken plus spicy fries. I couldn't eat absolutely anything because it was so spicy. I left the whole meal on the table. Very bad service. I will never come back there. I hope that they learn how to make the food properly.

Nino's is a chain of restaurants founded by Nino Bartolomei, with the first one opening in Reading in 1980 and expanding to five more locations. Although Market Place, known for its fillet steak and large portions, has closed down, Nino's now has a branch in Pangbourne. The restaurant is praised for its delicious pasta and veal dishes at reasonable prices. However, some customers have noted that the side dishes can be disappointing and the service inconsistent.
Highly recommended, the food is great, the desert portions are generous and the starters, main courses have a very authentic Italian flavour. Try Bruschetta for starters !
Sunesh K — Google review
I you want good, tasty Pasta then this is the place, the Veal is good too and all the dishes are well prised, but it can be let down by poor side dishes, veg is overlooked and the salads are variable. Service can also be a bit touch and go at times, the staff could do with smiling sometimes. I must however admit I keep going back as i prefer this over all the other Italians in Reading as it is a one off, family run business. Bottom line stick with the Pasta dishes and you'll enjoy your meal.

Bill's Reading Restaurant is a European chain that offers separate menus for breakfast, afternoon tea, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant has expanded from its humble beginnings in Lewes to become a nine-location chain. It retains some of its original charm with an allotment chic vibe while also offering products for purchase like cordials, oils, and tinned olives stacked on nearby shelves.
Beautiful place with delicious food, I can not express enough how much I recommend to visit. The service, the atmosphere, the food 10/10. The portions are massive, I've decided to go for pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. It was one of the best pancakes I've had. My partner decided to go for sourdough with eggs and salad, which he said was delicious. We also got some chorizo, which i absolutely loved. The tea was served in adorable tea cups, which fit the whole design of the place. They do have separate menu for the 2 and 3 courses and serve slighly different dishes depending on breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you're a fan of pancakes, they also offer bottomless pancakes between certain hours. I've attached all the pictures of the menu and details down below. There is plenty of parking at the oracle shopping centre which is a walking distance from the restaurant. If you're visiting Reading, this is a must go.

The food is phenomenal! We came here for brunch and it was so good. We are definitely coming back. They have tons of vegan options and are super helpful with food allergies. The vegan pancakes are a hit. The service was super friendly, even though they were super busy when we came. Luckily we had a reservation so there was no wait when we showed up.

I had a great time here :) The food and drinks were tasty, especially crispy calamaris. The atmosphere was perfect for a chill night. Tillie and the rest of the team were lovely! I also loved the idea of limited-time menus—Hawaiian burger.

The food was amazing, I would highly recommend, we got the bottomless pancakes and only managed two plates but they was so good. However the service was very poor, staff chatting to each other rather than serving guests (this wasn’t an issue of there wasn’t anything to do either), a handful of staff having conversations right next to our table and laughing very loudly amongst each other. After being asked if we was finished and if we would like anything else, in which we had said no we are all done thank you, we was left for over 30 minutes with no bill (ironically), and once we had asked for a copy of the bill this then took another 10 minutes to arrive at our table. To add the member of staff that asked if we was all finished disappeared too, nowhere to be found so we had to find and ask a different server. It’s a shame because the food was so nice but I can’t see myself ever visiting this location again.

All together we had a great dinner family time. We ordered a starter and 2 juicy burgers for us adults and kids eat free during school holidays which is kind and nice from the restaurant, especially for families with kids. Even if one of the burgers was not the way it was meant to be, the branch manager apologised and kindly replaced it for my wife and did not even charged for her entire order, including the drink. That was both polite and going above and beyond, as this can be a point of deciding if you ever come back to a restaurant based on your experience, and it all falls on the way the staff (including management) approach the issue and find a swift solution. Reason why we scored 5 stars and we thank Tillie for finding us a table last minute even if we had no booking on a Friday night.

The experience was extremely pleasant we enjoyed our time at Bills celebrating our anniversary. The food was amazing from the starters to desserts. Our waiter Ansh was so friendly and he made sure he always checked on us. His service made the experience even more wonderful.
Nadine P — Google review
The restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere and polite, friendly staff — definitely a strong point. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. We ordered the chicken schnitzel and the fish pie. The schnitzel was well cooked but completely lacked salt or seasoning, making it quite bland. The fish pie, according to the description, includes two types of fish and prawns. The fish was fine, but there were only two prawns in the entire dish, and both were severely overcooked — tough and dry. The pie itself was also completely bland, with no salt or noticeable seasoning. Hopefully, more attention will be given to the flavor of the dishes in the future, because the service and atmosphere are genuinely very good.

Lunch at Bill’s – A Mixed Bag Visited Bill’s for lunch with my partner and son. The food was genuinely lovely—well-prepared, tasty, and beautifully presented. The staff were exceptional, going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The venue itself is stunning, with a warm, stylish atmosphere and—importantly for me—very comfortable seating. As someone with a disability, that level of comfort makes a real difference and was much appreciated. However, the cost left us reeling. For three people, a two-course meal with just three drinks came to over £120. That’s the equivalent of a month’s food shop for our family. No matter how nice the experience, that kind of pricing simply isn’t sustainable for us. We won’t be returning—not because of the service or the food, but because the price point just doesn’t reflect everyday value.
