Our family spent a week in Oak Island, and visiting the Oak Island Lighthouse ended up being one of the best parts of our trip. We booked our time slot ahead of time, which I’d definitely recommend since it made things super easy when we got there. The staff and volunteers were all so kind and welcoming, and you can tell they really love sharing the lighthouse and its history. The climb up wasn’t bad at all as long as you take it slow, and the view from the top was just amazing—you can see the ocean, the marshes, and the island stretched out all around you. It honestly felt like such a special experience, and the fact that the tour is free makes it even better. The whole thing felt really well run and personal, not just like a typical tourist stop. If you’re in Oak Island, I’d highly recommend checking it out. It’s fun, it’s unique, and it’s something our whole family will remember from this trip.

The tour was great. The group that does the tour is a great bunch of folks. Big thank you for doing this one of a kind experience. This is a very scary experience due to how you get up there. You need to be in good shape and have strong nerves. As a parent. I wouldn’t take my kids there unless they are 15 or more. I think their age limit is 9.

Got to climb to the top of Oak Island Lighthouse! This Lighthouse was the last built in N.C. and so it was built as an automated light. There are no keepers quarters but there is an amazing educational boardwalk across the street from the Lighthouse that gives amazing views of the light and of the Cape Fear estuary. The view from atop the Lighthouse was phenomenal and you can see Old Baldy Lighthouse as well. The climb is not your traditional spiral staircase. There is a series of 7 ladderstairs and platforms. Not recommended to those not able to climb a ladder. To climb to the top you need to email the Friends of Oak Island Lighthouse. This is a local volunteer group that coordinates tours. You can not climb without a reservation through this organization. Email early to be sure to grab a spot for the climb. The reservation is free but donations are highly suggested for the upkeep of the lighthouse!

So glad we took this tour! Breathtaking views. It does not have a spiral staircase. It’s ship ladders. Lots of history here. Great tour.

While it dosnt look like a traditional coastal lighthouse it still was a nice stop to see unfortunately we weren't able to partake in the climbing didn't realize you had to book online so if you want to climb make sure to go to there website

It won't take 5 minutes to view if you don't have a trip to the top. No trails to walk or things to see other than the lighthouse from the bottom itself. Be sure to check out the boardwalk across the street.

Very cool place to visit. There was a bar inside. People were friendly. The pier was a nice view. My wife was kind of nervous on the pier. But it was safe. Great picture opportunity. Great for fishing. It did cost $2 per person, which was OK. It will probably be a cool place to have a drink or 2. Definitely enjoyed it.

Very nice walking on the pier today! The storm brought out lots of surfers to watch. A bonus was watching and talking with workers inspecting the pilings today. One was a frogman in the service, now doing pier repairs. Wonderful time on the pier today. Don't forget to get a ticket so you can come back later the same day!

Okay…first off great week at Better Beach rentals! But the Ocean Pier Staff (specifically the older gentleman dirty tie dye t-shirt) was extremely rude to our group, just trying to be patrons…also talked to a handful of folks who had the same experience. Our friends 40th party was quickly ruined, felt so so Awkward, and unwelcome by the locals! Also had a member of our party with a FREEDOM shirt and felt targeted due to politics.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I was extremely disappointed by the behavior of a pier attendee (wearing the tie dye shirt) who showed clear disrespect towards our group. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, regardless if they are local or not. Unfortunately, this individual’s attitude created an uncomfortable environment for our group. It’s a shame I cannot recommend this establishment to any of our friends.

Older guy in a tie dye shirt was super aggressive to my friends and I. Made our wives feel very uncomfortable— all because we accidentally parked our golf cart in a no parking zone. We offered to move it but we were informed “the cops were called”. We won’t be going back.

Stunning view of the ocean, sky and beach of Oak Island. We only went for views/sightseeing instead of fishing, but it seemed to be a place where many avid fishermen were doing just that. Each person costs $1 to enter. The cost was surprising but obviously affordable. I also believe worth it.

We had a beautiful time here with the family so much shore to explore! Parking was not to hard to get...seems busy looking at it but lots of availability to enjoy for the day! Water was very warm!

Beautiful beach. There is generally a cost to park here but since we arrived after 6pm it wasn't in effect. We ate at a restaurant on the beach and then watched the sun go down, the beach and pier was open untill 11pm. Pier was free to walk on but I think there was a fee if you were planning on fishing from it. It made for Beautiful sunset pictures and wasn't as crowded as I expected it to be. We had a fantastic time walking along the beach and pier at and after sunset watching the waves and the little crabs running out of our way. It was a fantastic experience and I will 100% be visiting there again on our next trip.

If you fish this is a great pier. Plenty of benches and 2 sinks fir cleaning your catch. I went for the view. You can also buy an alcoholic beverage at the bar to take on the pier. You can't take your own. The view is beautiful!

The best place for a walk surrounded by nature you can also fish from the dock. It’s pet friendly and has public restrooms you can also launch kayaks from here if you want to gouge out and explore the water

Really neat spot that appears to be used by the community to help out and educate kids. There are a couple walk out piers here and it's a neat spot overall. Made a cute friend while we're there

Great little place to walk around and enjoy some nature. Very peaceful environment.

Great little local Nature center. The garden has some Small trails with some plant species identified. Free parking is available, but limited. Restrooms are also available.

Love this little place! We spent several hours here, kids enjoyed the bird watching with binoculars!!!!

This was cute little area to walk in. Obviously the nature center wasn't open but the trail was very nice. If you want to have a break of the sun go here. Its not big but you can at least spend 30min there. Maybe bring a picnic and watch the speed boats on the Intracoastal waterway. The fishing pier is not open right now because it got damaged during the hurricane. There were also some fallen trees on the trail but nothing dangerous in my opinion. The bathrooms were not open are not open at this time.

The best place for a walk surrounded by nature

Family decided they wanted to play some put put. We ended up at the Oak Island Jungle Golf. There was a arcade inside. It was a bit outdated but kinda gave it it's own flair. The course itself was fun. It's been years since we've plaid put put and the family enjoyed it. Wish I had better pictures

Facility was a little run down, big sign says ice cream they don’t serve ice cream. Had fun watching the alligator in the pond. Worker told us they appear sometimes takes awhile to get them removed. No signs warning of gators. Was nice way to meet our first one. However some kids were reaching in to get there ball and didn’t know he was there. The course was good we’ve been to better but my family had fun.

This is my third review. They silenced me the last time so I must unveil my truth. As I stood in the parking lot I locked eyes with the elephant. But this time I felt something different. I felt and understood his pain. I locked my eyes with his, beady, yet visible. As I trekked the family fun course I felt a shift. I noticed something. The animals… it’s not a coincidence they don’t have tails. It’s a sign. They are being punished for something. But what? As I made my way farther I realized what was going on. There were multiple weak and broken spots in the fences. They tried to escape. These poor animals being forced to shoot water out of their mouth and stand for eternity had had enough. They were forced to turn against each other. The gorilla looking traumatized was truly because he was forced to cement the animals feet down after they had tried to make the grand escape. The evidence was right in front of him… A cement mixer. As we swung our putters with grace only seen in the Happy Gilmore movie, we found our selves horrified by an oncoming realization. The sign had more animals than shown? Where were the lion, the cheetah, and the toucan? As we came to this conclusion we heard something. A speaker coming from the rocks tried to brainwash us. It played a putrid noise trying to silence our woke thoughts. We ran so fast we fell and had to claw up the wheelchair accessible ramp. We were bashed by delicious green treats (poison ivy) as me and my family ate vigorously up the ramp. Coming to the end of this beautiful slide of a ramp, we saw another fence was tarnished. What we saw over that fence, changed our lives. 3 locked trapdoors cemented shut in the ground. And that’s when we realized. That’s where the lion, cheetah, and toucan laid. Terrified we SPRINTED through the last levels. We felt all eyes on us as we tried to leave before we were next. The more we tried the more we noticed creepier and creepier things. Just in time before we were taken to the shed we made it out. We ran past the arcade. In the prize glass there were handcuffs and “marshmallow nunchucks “ and we realized we were lucky to get out. As soon as those doors swung open. Screaming entailed. Overall was very pleasant. Would come again with family! 5 stars!!!

It was really fun and wasn't too crowded. The family had a great time, the staff were friendly. Lots of club sizes to choose from. Well worth the price for the amount of holes you get to play.

This place is great times 2 the giraffe is warm and pee colored! You might remember my last review.... Y'know the one detailing all the animals depression. (Make sure to follow along the pictures I attach so the story makes sense!) When you first walk in the door you are greeted by green cult members of the crazy cult alien staring solemnly through the prize counter glass. His beady black eyes entice you to walk further to the cash register. There I spent 36 dollars to go play golf (for 3 people). Very inexpensive... Then we saw why... We walk onto the course to go enjoy our family fun and there he was. He called out to me over the loud sound of all the crickets. He screamed silently with his eyes. 2 zebras. They looked at me horrified urging me to turn around and run! They didn't want me to undergo their trauma. But further I pushed into the enriching levels... I needed to climb the ranks. I took a deep breath as I gripped my golf club I turned to the breathtaking scenery and swung.... Then again, and again, and again. 5 swings later and it was in the hole. DAMN DIRT I yelled. The potted plant on the course was EVERYWHERE! It was hindering my playing capabilities. I lurked further going through the levels with ease as I took my eyes off the course there he was. Drugged up donkey Kong. I solemnly resonated with donkey Kong. I knew it had been hard for him ever since his game fell off and he turned to a life of drugs and crime. Step.. swing.. step... Swing. Levels pass my hands waver as I hold the metal club. Something is calling. I look over and there is is. The crazy cult alien meet up spot. A busted up rock with a humanoid shaped hole. I feel the need to crawl in and turn to a life of cultism but deep in my heart I know the course is what I'm here for. My feet heavy, almost like they are bearing chains walk forward to the next level. I get sprayed with holy water from the wide mouthed hippo. I look horrified at what looked like a melted hippo. Last time I was here he had no neck! I'm so proud of his growth as I've watched him since he was young... Tears brought to my eyes... But not because of the moment, but because of the clouds of gnats swarming my eyeballs. I swing my club in the air trying to get rid of the gnats but to no avail because the only thing I hit were all my family members. But in the end it added to the jungle ambiance I lost myself in the course and the scenery I was truly in a jungle. As I tread deeper into the jungle I see my old friend the giraffe. His body more warm and pee colored but his face and eyes still the same depressed soul I once stumbled upon before... I stare into his sad soulless eyes. It's been exactly a year and he still is battling depression. I want to know the secrets of the put put. Why must he look so sad? As I took a few steps I noticed he had no tail. Further I went looking at all the animals butts and what I saw shocked me... All butt no tail! Conspiracy theories fill my brain I think I know who is up to this crime... But to know truly I must keep on going. Farther and farther my legs and arms shaking I run and when I couldn't run I walked and when I couldn't walk I crawled until I was just a mess I could go further and then I saw it. The wheelchair accessible ramp. I yearned to have a way to go up the stairs and there it stood my saving grace. A brand new (different than last time) concrete bumpy incline that tipped straight into nature itself. My family carried me up the scary ride I rode in my carriage up the wheelchair accessible ramp. And there I was met with so much poison ivy I rolled and bathed in the green delicious treat! As I came to the end of the course I felt a little remorse for all the animals in the course, forced to give up their tails. I still wonder why the tails were all gone.. then something caught my attention. A bunker. I sped back inside straight to the prize counter and there I pulled out my wallet. I bought the green alien. Then it whispered... "I know where the tails are" anyways super fun! I really enjoyed the course! (2024)

While the staff is friendly, and the course easy, the facilities need some TLC. The statues and course need to be repaired, half the water features don't work. Inside the arcade no less than a third of the arcade games don't work. The higher prices and the amount of business this establishment seems to receive (I've seen lines extending out the door waiting to play putt-putt year after year) I expected it to be in better shape.

We really enjoyed the course. All turf was in good shape. Koi fish and turtles in the river. Cool scenery throughout the course.

It's definitely a great place to meet local artists and pick up beach decor or art, too. We love the location next to the beach!

The farmers market was a bit small but it had interesting products for sale. The market is open Monday's during summer months. Enjoyable out door experience

The Oak Island Summer Music Series concert was great! Food trucks, live music, dancing... and a fantastic crowd!

Me and my family loved the farmers market! There was a great selection of jewelry, food, furniture, etc. Friendly people. Although it was a hot (which is to be expected at the beach) it was a great experience.

We had the best service and meal! We first had some drinks from Kirbie from the bar. We love her! Then we came back later for dinner and we had a really great server. He was great! I cant remember his name but he was very nice and everything was perfect. Kirbie stopped by said hey! This will for sure be our go to spot every time to go see Kirbie and enjoy some great food!

Cassie was our server and she was AMAZING! The food was phenomenal, I had the lobster ravioli and the she crab soup and it was the best I’ve ever had! Best food I’ve had the whole week here in Oak Island!

We dined here a year ago and it was absolutely on point. The food for the price with the view. Everything was solid. So with our yearly trip, we decided to treat ourselves again. I had looked forward to the grouper Neptune all year. It was Friday night so we did have a wait. That was fine. We grabbed a drink at the bar, at least the wine pours weren’t stingy. The hostess were so kind and considerate. We got sat and our server Dink did great. He was on it. Food came out in a timely manner. Just for the price and quality, the entire experience wasn’t justified. To drop $200 plus on dinner isn’t the problem or something we regularly do but don’t mind when your experience adds up to that for a party of 2. The portions were smaller and on the Neptune, I barely had it loaded with crab and shrimp. It also lacked a bit of flavor. The grouper was slightly undercooked. I can’t justify $45 for that entree. Fresh seafood costs, along with the views. I get it. But either the chef changed or something wasn’t right. What’s crazy is my husband and I wondered if it’d be as good as it was a year ago, and it just wasn’t. To be at the beach where fresh seafood is offered around every corner, our experience just didn’t stand out above what we could have had around the corner or at other locations on the island. We will be trying somewhere new on our next visit to Oak Island. Again, it was overall ok. We just left disappointed from our fantastic experience a year ago.

Restaurant is rather small but nicely set up. Our waiter was Dink, he was very friendly and assisted with some of our selections. Food was very good but a little pricey. We were on vacation so we overlooked the price. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

My husband and I ordered take out. We found the menu very inviting with multiple items. We were on our annual vacation and visited Island Way for the very first time. Honestly, the food was terrible. Everything appeared to be frozen, food heated up, not fresh and absolutely bland. We spent over $100 between the 2 of us because we wanted to try multiple items. Next time we will find a restaurant off the island. My son is in the food industry and I know what good quality should taste like. It is really unfortunate. Hoping this may inspire the restaurant to take a look at their items and make some changes for the better.

I want to start this review by saying that our server was absolutely fantastic. This is in no way a reflection of him. Unfortunately, the food was another story. The only dishes we found even remotely enjoyable were our appetizers, the beef canapés and fried pickles. Out of our party of five, every single entrée was disappointing. Typically, at least one or two meals stand out as decent, but that was not the case here. One member ordered the filet and lobster, and both were severely overcooked. The lobster was so tough that if you threw it at a wall, it could have bounced back. Two of us ordered the “flown in from Hawaii” ahi tuna, which was bland, lacked seasoning, and was not prepared properly. The Brussels sprouts were equally flavorless. The last two members ordered shrimp and grits, which arrived cold, and the shrimp were overcooked as well. Honestly, the price point was reasonable, but the execution and quality of the food were terrible. This experience was extremely disappointing, especially given that we have dined here in the past and the food, while never five-star, was at least solid. Sadly, what we had last night was far from that standard, or the standard of any restaurant.

Our family was on vacay in Oak Island and wanted to try out some of the local restaurants. I’ll sum this up quickly…this was by far one of the best restaurants we have ever been too. We were a party of 9 with a 8pm reservation. Teddy our server was one of the best servers we have ever had. He was extremely tentative and was very professional and made the experience that much better. The food was out of this world including dessert. If you are visiting Oak Island please do yourself a favor and try this spot out. A+++++

I’ve been coming to oak island for over 15 years and this place gets worse every year. The price is perfectly reasonable but the course conditions decline every year. And that’s not even my main issue. The staff, specifically the starter and rangers are. They stack tee times by 8 minutes and squeeze together as many groups as possible together even if it means splitting our family who traveled on vacation together which they did with us. Then you wait every shot for the group in front of you while another group sits on the tee box behind you waiting Which again is by design when they stack tee times. But they have the nerve to approach you rudely multiple times a round to hurry everyone, like they are shocked by the outcome of their own design.

Hey this staff was excellent. The course is a lot of fun. The greens roll real nice. They give you a course booklet to help with course layou. A really great day.

Great golf course with friendly staff!

Wonderful pace of play, good condition, varied difficulty and SUPER FAST greens. Good food at the bar (Duffers?) with attentive and very nice bartenders.

This is the first time I have golfed here and I completely enjoyed the course. I was a little concerned because of some other reviews. The course was in great condition, greens were a little fast. I saw a gator for the first time since I moved here. I highly recommend it and I will be back there soon.

First time out here. Not the cheapest and thankfully I'm local and don't have the pay the visitor price as I think that would be a little bit to much for what this place is. Pace of play was fine, just around the 4 hours mark is good for a Friday, staff were also friendly enough. The course was in fair shape, it's relatively open, bunkers were playable, some water came into play especially the 14th which is no my favourite type of par 5's, short tee shot, longer 2nd shot to clear a hazard. The green complex for almost all the holes were fun for testing your second shot to the greens, lots of bunkers to miss if you can. Once on, the greens were the hardest part of this course, very undulating, you have to place your ball in the correct area to have a chance. The greens weren't consistent, some slow, some faster and very grainy, but as we all played in the same conditions I've got nothing to complain about. As it's my first time out, I'll have to have another visit now I know what to expect.

Never played It but see a lot of people saying the course is declining here is the reason for that cart number 18 at 11:16am 10/7/25 (I’ll only snitch if it’s to protect the course) drove 2 feet from the green way past cart marker signs I have a video I will upload when the internet gets better for me. Update there have been several to just drive up onto the green basically if the members/ regulars don’t have respect for it how will it ever be to its full potential

Fun, gated for safety. Kids loved the water filled spray zone! Also visited the market on Monday. Excellent choices of vendors!

Super fun splash pad - visited a few times with my toddler. There were lots of different activities in the splash pad. The playground was for slightly older kids, but my 15mo was able to run around and climb up on the main play structure. The playground had wood chips on the ground for a soft landing.

Wonderful Park. One block from the ocean. Lots of parking and potties. Stage, walking path, shelter house, splash pad, playground, horseshoe, corn hole, softball. Parties all summer long on Friday or Saturday nights. Check the oak island rec department for dates. Basketball, Tennis and pickle ball courts nearby.

Came for a concert on 25 July 2025. "River mist" was the band. Very enjoyable and entertaining. Food, snacks and drink trucks were available. The biggest issue I have is people with their dogs. There was a heat advisory warning. Dogs panting heavy and no shade or water from owners. So glad some of your dogs looked cute in sunglasses and they were ready to have a heat stroke. Don't be dumb and selfish. Leave them at home

Pickleball courts,outdoor pavilion for concerts, splash pad for kids. Beach access across the street. Lovely community of Oak Island with Sunset views.

We were at the small playground close to Oak Island Dr. It is very nice and suitable for small children. It is right off the road and had free parking close by. It is almost completely shaded by mature trees and had restrooms close by and a picnic shelter. There are also several benches near the playground.

It looks clean they charge for parking during April to September.

Terrible literally no waves just cold crappy water easily the worst beach I’ve been to.

Love every beach i ever visited

Less crowded than most beaches, mostly families. Lately I have noticed a few more of those annoying fishermen, that have the deep sea gear and setup way back from the water, so you have to avoid a whole section of the beach . Dogs are leash free October 15th til March 15, so that is a big plus!

Beautiful, clean beach! We went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn’t too crowded. Our group had a great time.

SO good! we ate here 2 separate times during our vacation this week. The blackened salmon was fantastic, seafood pasta was my moms favorite and the grouper special was so delicious. Staff was very friendly. It is not a big restaurant so there will be a wait during peak season.

If there were a 6 star rating I’d rate this place 6+? Yeah I would. Our party of 4 adults, and a 16 month, were promptly seated (qualifier, we arrived at about 4:45😊). The atmosphere was laid back and beach’y and the server was cherry & very attentive but not bothersome. The prices were reasonable as was the serving size. After our orders were taken they were served in fairly short order and all thought the meal was excellent. As for the 16 month old, she gobbled up the shrimp off her grandmother’s plate and frys off her mom’s (I think she loved it too) I happen to love shrimp & grits, if it is on the menu invariably that will be my order and I can say that mine was the BEST I have ever had and not by a nose either. It was definitely a bell ringer! While you are in the South Port/Oak Island area don’t pass up Shagger Jacks, well worth the drive.

All around great experience. We ordered the buffalo chicken dip for an appetizer- so good!! For our entrees we ordered the Bayou pasta and the bbq shrimp flatbread. All delicious! The service was very quick and our server was beyond accommodating

This place, reminds me of a traditional pub. Everything is old and dated in a good way. My wife and I went there today for lunch. Our waitress was nice and attentive. My wife ordered the firecracker shrimp, and I ordered the fish and chip sandwich. My fish was good fried perfectly, I wasn’t well about the fries that came with. It reminded me of McDonald’s leftover fries that have been in a bag.. My wife didn’t like her food at all the waitress took it off the bill, which was very nice of her. I would give this place a second chance for sure!

This is the best food place on the beach. Period. The prices may seem high but the serving sizes are matching the price. This is one of the best spots me and my husband have ever eaten at, and we will keep returning as much as possible. The crabcakes flounder and the ribs are to die for, as well as the firecracker shrimp and the green tomato’s. Just out of this world food. You will become just as addicted to this place as we are.

We got the bowl with chicken and plantains and fish and chips and it was so well seasoned tasted really fresh. The kids enjoyed their meals especially for $8 and a free frisbee (meal is served in). We got drinks and they were large and strong we typically get 2-3 drinks but 1 was enough. We also got the chocolate cake and coconut cake. I’m craving that cake currently lol it was so good. Food came out fast for how fresh it was and the server was this nice older lady with an adorable accent. All in all, this is now our go to place in oak island. Best on the island for sure…. Sorry lol

The crab cakes, smoked Gouda potatoes, shrimp bowl was quite tasty. The wait staff was fairly attentive on a busy Saturday night.

Point you do have some port a potties but as with everywhere in Oak Island it's 20 bucks for the day. You do have the creek on one side and ocean on the other and it is a pretty area but you do have to walk quite a ways to find a spot. One view was across on an island I got to on a kayak. Tons of seagulls and pelicans. Fishing wasn't to good maybe the weather not sure. Guys on ocean side were catching Blues.

The first two days I spent fishing here, the rain kept me from getting a good view, but let me tell you, this place is absolutely stunning! It’s a fantastic spot, and there are plenty of shells to keep the kids entertained. I even got to see some seagulls hanging out, which was quite a sight.

Absolutely beautiful scenery! Surrounded by sand dunes and water, the point is a beautiful slice of heaven on Earth. But, if it wanted to get five stars, the place would need some picnic tables and a pavilion or something. But if you just want a nice private place to surf fish are lay out in the sand, this place is beautiful and peaceful.

Just had the best massage of my LIFE here! We booked a couples massage while on a weekend getaway and it was perfect! Everyone was nice and the rooms were very clean! 10/10 recommend!

I had a pain killer massage with Lydia and it was amazing. She has magic hands for sure and all of the tension I have been carrying in my muscles was released. I will definitely be back!

Wow Wow Wow!!! Tayler B is the best I’ve ever had! My NMT massage with her had me wishing I had booked a second 90 minute deep tissue/ trigger point massage the moment she started. ( Half way through the massage I checked if she had more time for it too!!!!) As a fellow therapist and health care worker I felt her follow what I wanted and felt her notice what was needed!!! Everything I requested work on was turned into butter and I can’t wait to do it again! I highly recommend choosing Tayler to work on your problem areas! I can tell she cares and enjoys what she does. She has me looking forward to coming back to Oak Island just to see her!!

I always have the best time when I come here. The massage therapists are very conscientious of the fact that I’m there to relax and don’t try to engage in conversations which I really appreciate. The location cannot be beat it! Their massage skills are amazing. I always feel like 1 million bucks and massage drunk after I’m done. And I just found out they have an amazing weighted blanket to use while getting a massage which I highly recommend it feels like just getting a big hug! Always a part of my vacations now!

Lydia is amazing! Had a hot stone massage and highly recommend you book with her. She is thorough, thoughtful and will work out your knots. 5 stars is not enough for the service she provides.

This was hands down the best trip I have been on. We got a lot of fish which was great but Adam was just amazing. We aren't beginners or anything but the way he explained how to do things, and more importantly why to do them was great. He put up with our stupid jokes and humor and even joined in. Our group had a great trip with Captain Adam today. While knowledgeable and experienced fly fishermen from PA, we have limited ocean experience. Adam was personable, informative, an excellent coach on what to expect, and he got us into fish quickly. All aboard caught numerous Spanish Mackerel (tonight’s feast was delicious!) and we topped the morning with successful and exciting shark fishing! We have been coming down for 20+ years. Why we waited this long to book now seems crazy. We would not hesitate to book with you again, and request Captain Adam. Please pass our compliments to him.

Great experience with Capt. Adam. We did a backwater tour due to weather and he showed them a part of the water they had never seen. Caught our limit and got to learn how to catch bait too. Definitely going again.

Had an amazing time shark fishing with Capt Elliot. He knew exactly where to find them and we reeled in 7 over 2 hours! He shared so much knowledge with us about fishing and the area in general. Definitely appreciated the discussion while we were waiting it out between bites!

June 21 2025 went out with Capt Adam and we had a blast. From the booking until we got off the boat they were informative and great to deal with. Adam put us on the fish and you can tell he knew his stuff! We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thank y’all for the trip of a lifetime. We went out with Captain Adam and had a great time. Setting up the date and time was easy and he provided details of everything we would need. Once we got out there he got us setup on a school of fish. It was a great time and we would definitely go back again.

This place RULES when comes to doing breakfast. Everytime I stay on Oak Island, I eat breakfast here. Wait staff are so friendly and efficient! Makes your day. A smile goes a long way. Their coffee is heavenly good. Highly recommended eatery.

Really nice diner. The food was good! Service was pretty good. They were busy, so we waited a little bit. We will definitely come back!!

This breakfast place was highly recommended to us. It was a weekend morning, but it was so packed. We were told it would be about a 15 minute wait. It ended up being an hour and 10 minutes. It's kind of a little dive, and the food was good, although I don't think it was worth that long of a wait. I think most any breakfast place would be about the same quality. Most irritating is we checked the prices on their website. They were so inexpensive that with 8 of us we thought it would be the perfect place. As it turns out most prices were between 2-3 times that posted on their website. They definitely need to have someone keep it updated if they are going to have a website for people to look at. I wouldn't go again just because it wasn't as fabulous and inexpensive as we expected.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Old Bridge Diner is hands-down one of the best spots on Oak Island! Great food with big portions, perfect coffee, and a staff that treats you like family. The atmosphere is welcoming, the prices are fair, and everything comes out hot and fresh. A true local gem—highly recommend!

Great little local spot for some breakfast! Food is made fresh and comes out hot. Service is prompt and attentive. We like to stop here when in town.

Perfect little diner near the entrance of Caswell Beach and Long Beach. Service is friendly and fast. Tried much of the menu during a 1 week beach trip. Everything was tasty and properly cooked. Can get very busy during season but the "buzzers" to let you know tables are ready reach some of the nearby shops. I would visit again next time I'm in the area. Great value for the amount of food you receive. Parking can be a bit tight.

Went for my second time last night. I ordered the ribs and grits platter. The food was delicious. The ribs were very well flavored and the meat was falling off the bone. The grits were a good side dish with the ribs. My girlfriend ordered the Herb roasted chicken dish. She was excited to eat that dish again since she ordered it the first time we visited. Unfortunately she wasn't a impressed as i was. Her chicken was dry and not well seasoned. On another positive note, our server was very good. Even though it was really busy when we arrived she was very receptive to our needs and provided great service. Since we were celebrating a birthday, we ordered the chocolate 7 layer cake, which was delicious!

Everything about our experience at Salt64 was perfect. We made reservations ahead of time and we were seated on time, our waiter was attentive and friendly and the food was amazing. The salmon was perfectly prepared and not overcooked. I can’t boast enough! I highly recommend Salt64.

Young waiter was on point made excellent recommendations knew the menu and specials. Attentive but not intrusive. Food selection was plentiful and tasty. Pricey menu for a special occasion or a night in th he town. Manager passed by the table to check in.

Extremely impressed with the food and service here. We were originally seated next to a table that had 6 very very loud people, who you could tell were getting on others nerves. Our waitress said something to a manager, who then immediately found us another table, and kept checking in on us throughout the meal. The service was amazing, the food was top tier, and we ordered a couple of extra desserts to take home. We will be eating here again and I look forward to it very much.

From the moment you walk in this treasure of a place, excellence is at the forefront. The service, food, and environment are the best on this island. The waitstaff is above and beyond and the chef deserves Michelin stars.

Everything we ate was absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable! I would move to Oak Island just to get the chance to eat here whenever I wanted. Do NOT skip out on dessert. Or the crack toast!!

We had a great experience here! We ordered the shrimp capellini, the crab fritters and the chicken tenders. Everyone was very happy with their entrees but what kicked us off to a great start was the crack bread- so gooooood!!! My suggestion if you’re planning to come here, have a reservation. We did not, but arrived at 4pm and their regular tables were already reserved. We were immediately sat in the bar area at a high top table which was completely fine for our family of 3, but will probably make a note to get reservations on our next visit! Bon appétit!

Went to see Fireflies on Aug 2, 2024! The theatre is little but the show was first class! I will be back an highly recommend this venue!

This was my third time coming to a show. I've really enjoyed each one before. I was not happy with the language in this one at all. I felt it was uncalled for. I'm not sure I'll be back. We'll see

This is a wonderful theater! They put on such wonderful plays! It's great for date night or just going out with the family for some great entertainment you don't want to miss one of these plays they are so talented look on the website to see what is playing next.

Great, way-off Broadway venue. Seats less than 100, but the play we saw, Legally Gray, was marvelous. Well-staged, acted and directed. They are looking not only for volunteers, but some "Angel's" to sponsor the purchase of the theater...goal of $250K. Best wishes.

This theatre is a Southport gem. Everyone is so welcoming and the actors are fantastic. I have never seen a bad show there. Don't miss any plays. You won't regret visiting the Brunswick Little Theatre.

Great theatre space. Just saw a super production of The Glass Menagerie. The actors and set were captivating, and even the lobby was decorated to set the scene. Seems out of the way, but really not. Not as far as Southport. Highly recommend.

Absolutely incredible experience! From start to finish, the team at Skydive Coastal Carolinas made me feel safe, supported, and excited about my very first jump. The staff is super professional, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. Special thanks to my instructor Aaron – his calm, clear guidance and a professionalism! The jump itself was unforgettable: breathtaking views, an adrenaline rush like no other, and a feeling of total freedom. The best thing that ever happened to me! English is my second language, but everyone is so welcoming and helpful there. They will communicate with you in any language, through a smile or a hug. I felt so loved there. It was a love from the first jump. They will make you feel like you are part of the skydiving family. Starting from the front desk girls. Can’t appreciate these girls enough. Pilot is so GREAT - he will smile with you along the climb and make you fell like it’s ok to jump out of his perfectly fine airplane. Instructors - ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! all of them. Super caring and happy guys. They will get you to the ground with the big smile. Only thing I can complain about , if you jump ones… ohhh… you need to jump again and again… it’s an addiction . If you want skydive, it’s the pace to get your first jump. Thank me later. I don’t ever, ever write a reviews, but this time i have to share my experience. 9 jumps in and I will be back for more. From the moment I arrived, I could feel how welcoming and supportive the community is. Everyone at this drop zone is incredibly friendly, and you can truly see their passion for the sport. That one tandem was all it took—I knew I had to come back and pursue my AFF. Going through the student program and earning my solo license has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I’m so grateful to be part of such a positive and encouraging group of people. If you're even thinking about jumping, I can’t recommend Skydive Coastal Carolinas enough. Whether it’s your first tandem or you’re ready to dive into the sport, this is the place to do it!

This was my second time skydiving. My first time at Skydive Coastal Carolina’s. After experiencing skydiving once a few weeks ago I think it’s going to become my next bad habit! Location is BEAUTIFUL. Staff was all super friendly and professional. All informative and intensely focused on safety. No experience can compare to seeing the entire coastline from the best view. I will absolutely be returning! And would recommend to anyone thinking about it, schedule your jump!

Wanted to do this for a long time, one word describes the feeling: Exhilarating. Just do it…. bucket list item completed. What more to say: I made it down safely & my instructor Jonathan Hartley was awesome he kept everything so chill you can hear the happiness in his job and care for their passengers. He was very thorough, made sure I was comfortable, understood I knew every step of the way. If I had to give a negative is the obvious and was explained several times in the documents and waivers is the weather dictates …. but not one complaint about the establishment, people or experience!

I experienced my first tandem skydive at Skydive Coastal Carolinas almost a month ago. I wanted to wait until I had processed this transformative, life changing, faith-affirming experience before posting but I'm not sure I'm ever going to have the words, so.... If you are considering jumping out of a perfectly good plane, this is the place to do it! Each person I interacted with before, during and after my tandem jump were spot on - personable, professional, knowledgeable. Before making my appointment I called several times. Sixty is not too old! And I wasn't too heavy-whew! And yes, some do get motion sick so I took the meds. They worked. Take the meds! I loved every minute and it was over way too soon. Friends and family are surprised to hear that free-fall was my favorite - exquisite, peaceful, calming, centering...that my first thought when the parachute opened was "Oh no, it's almost over!". Mr. B and I were both super impressed with Oatsey. He was the perfect first tandem instructor. Thank you so much for kindness, humor, respect and the best vibe around! So, live your life, do things!! Defy stereotypes and expectations! If you are yearning to do this thing, do it here! The views are exquisite, the people are top notch, and it is empowering in a way that I cannot begin to explain. And definitely get the videos and pics!

Thank you so much for a great experience with my son. He graduated from high school this year and is thinking about going to school for his A&P license. Not only did you take extra time with talking to him about getting his pilot’s license, you also allowed him to talk to your A&P. He gave him encouragement and plenty of things to think about with different avenues he could pursue and suggestions on how to make his career happen! He also really enjoyed the discovery flight and being with Andrew. He learned some about the area, had lots of fun and looking forward to flying with you next year! Thank you so much for everything!

High Tide Helicopters was amazing from beginning to end. Had a great flight in the plane. Pilot gave my son the experience of his life letting him help assist with the controls. I recommend highly for a great vacation experience. Also 2 Marine Ospreys landed while we were there just making the experience even better.

My husband took me on the scenic plane tour for my birthday! It was SO AWESOME!! Our Pilot, Parker, was great! Very informative and pointed out a lot about the area and we felt safe and at ease flying with him. The views were stunning! We highly recommend this business! Next time we will try the helicopter. :)

The Beach Lover's flight exceeded our expectation. It was a great orientation to our new home. In fact, Blake our pilot, took time to make sure we found our house during a flyover of our neighborhood. I highly recommend this tour!

Recently this company helped in searching for a local missing man. The pilot Cody was gracious and very accommodating during this difficult time. I felt totally comfortable flying with this pilot and had no worries or concerns about his abilities. He was warm and welcoming and committed to our search. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to locate the missing man but it had nothing to do with the pilots abilities or lack of them. When my family visits again , I plan on treating them to a helicopter ride over to Bald Head Island as a surprise gift. That is if ONLY we are assured to have Cody as the pilot .

An absolute must!!! Andrew was such an amazing Pilot. It was my first time ever on a plane and I’m very grateful that it was shared with High Tide Aviation! The views were unreal!! Had a fantastic tour today with Long Beach Paddle! Julie made the planning process smooth and easy. Our tour guide, Bonner, had a great personality and answer all our questions :-). —such a beautiful and relaxing experience from beginning to end. I’d absolutely choose this family-owned outfitter again for future rentals.

We rented several kayaks off the dock. They were sit inside kayaks, very comfortable and clean. Christian was great, very helpful, dealt with us and all of our questions with infinite patience 😁. We kayaked Beaver creek which is so beautiful, a very rare experience back in the march and palmettos. The kayaking was not difficult as we timed the tides right, after advice from Christian and his mother. Highly recommend.

The staff was very friendly and easy to work with. The process was quick, the kayaks were nice and clean, and we had a blast. We are relatively new to kayaking and the route wasn’t difficult to handle. Overall great experience and highly recommend!

We had a company team outing and used Long Beach as our kayak tour. We had an amazing time! Christian, our guide, was awesome and kept us safe, informed, and did all the heavy lifting of the planning and set up. I highly recommend this local company and am sure it will be a great experience!

Danielle was able to accommodate our last-minute request for kayak rentals. She had the boats ready for us, helped us into the water and pointed out where we should go. My daughter and I had a lovely 90-minute paddle.

Went out yesterday for a half day with my family and had a great time. Captain Ryan and his First Mate, Eli, were great. Caught 24 spanish mackerel and blue fish. Lots of room on the boat and it was very clean, Eli made sure of that :). I felt very safe and the Captain definitely knew where the fish were. We will be taking another trip. Thank you Ryan and Eli for a great experience. Was my first, but not my last.

Omg!! Our group of six had an awesome time catching fish. Captain Ryan and Deo were the best. The day was beautiful and everyone got 2 times to bring the fish in. All were keepers except One shark was thrown back. Once it was pried off Deo’s back. Great day! Thanks guys.

We went out with capt Ryan and he was amazing. Talking to him was like talking to a friend I hadn’t seen in years. I had 4 young boys with me and they were very wild but Ryan never showed any aggravation instead he answered all questions they had and helped them catch fish. His first mate Eli made sure to memorize each of our names and called us by name. He helped show my kids how to reel in fish and both guys made our trip very enjoyable. I would recommend captain ryan to anyone and everyone.

Capt Ryan and Eli are good folk. Not only will they put you on the fish, they take the time to tell you about what they're doing and where youre at. Thank you for a great trip off shore. Good luck Eli in your future endeavors young man.

Sunset cruise off of Oak Island was fantastic with Captain Ryan. He is the best Captain! There were 4 of us, two kids included. The views were amazing and we learned a little about the history of the islands as well as enjoying the sunset.

Park is a nice little street run. Good for beginners. Not crowded. The main downfall is you have to pay to park. $5 an hour

Small skatepark, good for kids. Unique design but fun for all IMO. Also less than a block from the beach access! I took my sons there with their cuz last weekend and had a good time!

I love it just don't like the fact they don't really have any signs about the ebikes and stuff like that I was there today and three kids came up with e bikes and almost hit a little kid of his board that is the only bad thing about it every thing else is good I love to go every day the good thing is I live down the road and I can go anytime thank God for that

Nice park, zero water to drink so bring water, has portable bathrooms and fyi it's paid parking on most of Oak island, so be careful where you park.

It is a very charming place right near the pier. It's very popular with the locals. There is a cute style tiki bar outside with seating and many picnic tables. Inside, there is a very busy bar with a great variety of drinks and very busy waitresses. The menu had a nice variety of choices from salads, meat, and seafood. I had the crabcake, and they were very good. There is a parking lot across the street as well as parking out front. We really enjoyed ourselves and will be back.

You cant beat the views of the ocean from this place, the view was absolutely amazing. Me and my boyfriend were visiting his daughter and her husband, this was our first time to the area. We wanted the full experience so choose a restaurant on the beach, again the view from the outside sitting area can not be beaten, we were seated right away. The manager came up and asked were we were from and was just all around a nice inviting guy. Our server on the other hand was something else. The food was fantastic, we expected it to be alittle pricey because of the location and we were not wronge, I felt it was alittle over priced for what we got, especially the blueberry lemonade drink ( $10 or around there for an alcoholic drink that i swear had very little to no actual alcohol in it) But whatever we came prepared to spend time and a bit money there and celebrate our first vacation. The server dropped our food off and acted bothered when we asked for drink refills (she actually sighed) after she dropped off the refills, she never came back to check on us. Not to clear plates, not to ask about more drinks, nothing. The table next to us got up and left because she never came back. Over an hour after sitting and waiting for her, we finally had to go inside and find her to ask for the bill and pay. Still she acted bothered and annoyed the whole time, then she walked around with our card for another 20mins before finally cashing us out handing it back without a word or anything. Sorry for the long review. Food is good. If you get the server with a birthmark on her forehead ask for someone else, the restaurant and her definitely missed out on us hanging around spending more money, the bill for 4 of us was about $200 but if the service was good we definitely would have stuck around and celebrated. We all agreed that after the horrible service we wouldn't return and won't be recommending this place to any friends or relatives that are visiting the area.

The food was great!! The service was just ok. The atmosphere not so good. The whole time we were there, people/employees were smoking right beside us. At one point there were 6 people smoking at the same time. If you’re a smoker, this place is perfect. We will not be back for that reason!!

Our server was very friendly. We both had tacos, I had the shrimp tacos. The shrimp was good quality, lightly breaded and plump! Draft beer was fresh and cold. Live music, right on the beach, beautiful sunset!

The Lazy Turtle was an amazing experience. My friend and I went last Friday around 4. The host was kind and took us to our outdoor table. My friend and I were extremely pleased about the toes in the sand type seating because we were only visiting the beach for the day. The music was upbeat and familiar. Our server was kind and helpful with suggesting menu items. Our appetizer was fried cheese curds, which were perfectly breaded and crisp. The portion was HUGE...we still almost ate them all. I’m not a big fish fan, so I chose the garlic parmesan wings. They were SO good!! Crispy and cheesy. You could taste and see the fresh garlic used. It was delightful. My pretzel was salted just right and the queso was to die for. My friend said her crab cakes were delicious. Her homemade chips were seasoned well, I couldn’t help but steal a few. The manager came by and spoke with us, creating good conversation and an extremely welcoming environment. Another kind team member helped us find the bathroom and answered some questions we had when she brought the food to the table. From start to finish, The Lazy Turtle was very pleasant. I will be returning and referring others to come. Keep doing what you’re doing!

This place is a go-to for us when we visit. It’s the only place you can eat and drink with your toes in the sand. The inside is also nice but, outside watching the sunset and enjoying the firecracker shrimp, is a little piece of heaven. I haven’t had anything there that wasn’t tasty. The new manager Gino and all of the staff go out of their way to make you feel like an honored guest.

The food and overall atmosphere was great. The service was great too, I just think the staff was spread thin. It was definitely a fun little place to visit and the turtle sauce was soooo good.

Wonderful seafood options (the grilled pompano was delicious!) cooked anyway you like it. Full bar, good beer selections, great staff, and tasty seafood make this a must-try at Oak Island. Don’t let the exterior fool you.

While on vacation we came here for dinner after given a recommendation from a near by bar. We had the fish of the day sandwich, Unicorn fish and Samuri Shrimp. My husband had his sandwich fried and I had mine blackned and grilled. Both tasted amazing and large portions. Our waiter, Beau, was really nice and attentive. Will be coming back to try more.

This is my go-to restaurant whenever I am in Oak Island. The quality of the food is consistent, and the menu changes often, making it interesting. The cocktails are great, as well. The atmosphere could be better, with diffused lighting and warmer colors, better wall coverings and no cheap posters hanging on the walls.

Great meal here with large portions would definitely recommend. Service was excellent. We went in between lunch and dinner but would recommend reservations during peak times. We had no wait.

All of the kids menu items had egg (which was unfortunate) but we were able to get the chicken sandwhich with bacon without the bun for our daughter and she really enjoyed it. My burger was really good as well. I got a piece of peanut butter pie to go and it was also really good. Our waiter was solid and patient. It was a good experience.

Only thing I can say is bad experience. We walked in around closing time. Kitchen staff was pissed. A party of 5, all the steaks were raw when we asked for med. and well done. Sent them and still came back the same way. Even heard the kitchen staff complain because of where we were seated. Will not visit again. I work in the restaurant industry but I still give my best even if we are closed, it’s part of the customer service. The waiter was wonderful and very kind. The manger was not the best but did hear us out. Could have handled way better. Plus we were not the last one there.

This was a perfect choice tonight. Their menu had more variety than any of the other restaurants here. Great sides that were well prepared and very good service. There’s something on the menu for everyone and perfectly presented. You can’t go wrong with this choice…just an excellent restaurant!

Our foursome of ladies had an enjoyable and beautiful day playing the golf course yesterday, the starter and staff were so friendly and told us to “just have fun” and we did! After playing the course, we decided to eat at Duffer’s Pub & Grille- and what a mistake that was! Upon entering, there was a podium with NO hostess and NO signage that we should “wait to be seated” so we took a table ourselves. After waiting for ten minutes for a server to appear, we noticed every table was being serviced including the table of four men who arrived AFTER us. We had to ask for menus and when the waitress came back with them, we were scolded for seating ourselves! and she didn’t even bother to bring us waters. She said there wasn’t a hostess for the day and they were short staffed, so I explained that this was our first time there and apologized. She didn’t care, was flippant then disappeared somewhere. The bartender and one of our ladies made eye contact upon entering the restaurant AND she didn’t bother to say anything about waiting to be seated. We decided we had enough of their RUDE behavior and left. We found a local restaurant instead near the beach, the food, staff and atmosphere were wonderful. It was a way better choice to go there. We really enjoyed the golf course but Duffer’s Pub & Grille will not get a second chance.

The golf course gets a 4 star, but the bartender that was working yesterday(Good Friday 2025) was extremely rude. I asked the gentleman and lady in the pro shop where I could get some ice as it was my first time playing the course. Both of them pointed to the restaurant/bar down the hall. I go in there and wait my while she serves others. Then she rudely and loudly says yes, what can I do for you? I said the pro shop told me I could come get some ice. She smacks her lips and says, "Is that all, I said, "That's it. Then she fills up a cup and hands it to me. I said Im sorry, but it's a cooler im trying to get ice for." She snatched the cup and poured the ice back into the well. She gets loud and rude again and says DID YOU BUY THE PRODUCTS FROM HERE?" I said no, it's only a body armor and a coke. She says uh huh you're supposed to buy the product from here. I feel like she thought I was bringing beer to keep cold, but i don't drink. Most of the other courses I play have coolers that latch onto your golf cart. You remove the cooler, put your drinks in then fill it up with ice from their ice machine and attach it back to your cart. If the rule is you must buy the product there, I was never told or never saw a sign. If that is the rule, that's fine but I'll never go back. If I hadn't paid just before that happened I would have left right then solely on her attitude. She was the 3rd employee I came into contact with and the 2nd one I actually spoke with. The guy at the pro shop was nice, but the 2nd employee i talked to was totally rude for no reason. On top of that I am paired with two ladies, nothing against them they were awesome people and both of them were excellent golfers. They were a pleasure to play with but there was a group in front of us playing fairly slow, they were hitting 2 balls at a lot of the holes, putting over and over but they weren't the actual problem the foursome in front of them were playing so slow it was unreal. The course was packed, but they were playing so slow they had 2 empty holes in front of them. With her attitude and the pace of play so slow, it took 3 hours to play the front so I decided to ask for a raincheck on the other 9 holes. My first impression of duffers is you have 1 rude employee and one of the starters/ rangers should tell people they need to pick up their pace of play. 3 hours for the front 9 is ridiculous. The ladies I was paired with said the exact same thing, they were stopping after 9 because the pace was that slow. That bartender put a bad taste in my mouth and ruined my experience. I hope it wasn't like that for others. I'm not sure I'll use that raincheck if she'll be there. Guess I'll just chalk that $75 up to the game. Do better please, I did nothing to you for you to respond how you did and ruin my mood and round.

Not the best. Food was good. But hearing your worker say a cuss word infront of my kids after handing us food walking in wasn’t the best. Sorry if we were a handful. But no need to treat us like that. Will not be back nor recommending this place. The server was nice. But then forgetting our app before our food wasn’t very appealing. But other than that it was okay. Just the whole cussing after giving us food to the point my kids hear it was not okay. Shout out to the blonde girl with the collared shirt on you made a “wonderful” impression on us for cussing infront of our kids. Our server was great. Other then that nah never again.

Went for taco Tuesday and boy was it delicious! Sat outside to enjoy the sun with some friends. There were at lot of kids outside and boy was it a lot. I wanted To clear the air with the latest post, I heard the entire convo that was going on. Those sweet girls NEVER said anything bad nor did I hear A single cuss word. Those girls were busting their humps the other night! They are absolutely wonderful and so very kind! Keep up the good works girl!(Blondies) 😊

Great place, delicious food, good service. The french fries here are the best. Great cheeseburgers. Kids loved it.

I am Soooo Thankful for Duffer's this Thanksgiving Day! First, I'm thankful I didn't have to cook 😉 but more importantly the food was Delicious! A true Thanksgiving Feast with all the fixin's and desserts! The staff is top-notch and very friendly! I think we may have started a new Thanksgiving Tradition! ☺️ I highly recommend this restaurant and will be going back regularly!

This is the perfect little beach dive if you’re looking to have some drinks right on the beach. I’ve been there twice now once by myself and the other time I took my family. Overall, the service was great and the views are great. The price is a little high, but that’s probably because of the view. I had the burger last time I was there. It was just OK. Nothing bad about it but nothing to write home about. So far my favorite thing I’ve tried is the shrimp nachos, which is almost 20 bucks! So it’s easy to go here and spend 20 to 50 bucks just on yourself especially if you have some drinks. Like I said, it’s about the ambience the service and the view and the food is still very good. Don’t give me wrong. I just think it’s a little overpriced.

We had a lovely experience at Koko! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great! We got firecracker shrimp and coconut shrimp to start both were very good! I got the mahi entree and it was a little dry but still very good! The only downfall was the flies. There was an insane amount of flies and we couldn’t really eat because we were constantly batting those suckers away. Our server Nick was funny and made a joke about being Mr Meeagi. Overall great dining experience and a fun place to eat at the beach! 4/5 🌟

This place will remain in my heart for a long time. The coconut shrimp tacos and Thai chili sauce were remarkable, bursting with flavor. This was probably one of the top 3 meals I've ever had. The atmosphere was excellent. We sat outside overlooking the ocean and then as we sat down, a live band started up. R&R played some covers that were so well done. The atmosphere was lively, energetic, and a high level of service. I want to go back tomorrow and do it all again!!!

This place isn’t worth the time or money. “Fish & Tartar”- tartar what? Sauce? Why is that even “AND” tartar? Makes no sense. Thanks for the fish that’s hard as a rock. Honestly, I hope the cook has to eat that same fish for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The fries and coleslaw were fine. As for the “Cocktail Captain”… More like a sober sailor - basically Sprite with a splash of pineapple syrup/juice.

Great little place. Food was amazing, live music was awesome! Sat on the outside deck overlooking the ocean and pier. We got the coconut tacos which were so flavorful, also got the fish tacos. Those could've used a little more sauce for my taste but were very good. Salsa was good. Fun place to eat with great views and live music.

Phenomenal date night spot! My husband and I sat at the outdoor bar and enjoyed our meal and cocktails- and especially the view. The coconut shrimp and scallops were delicious, and the drinks were amazing.

Let me preface this review by stating we visited Koko Cabana on Labor Day Sunday night for an early dinner. We waited over an hour for a table, then about 30 to 40 minutes for our appetizers to be brought out (soon after ordering it after arriving at the table). Our meal was brought to us about an hour after being seated. Interestingly, three large tables were being ‘held’ (which led to the long wait time). The waiter was attentive, though the staff seemed a bit understaffed and overwhelmed. The space was filled with patrons and very loud to the point we had difficulty hearing one another.

Kai-Joe’s is the best restaurant in town. Wish I had been there sooner on my trip. We’ve now been multiple times on our trip and their food is consistent and delicious and reasonably priced in comparison to most of the other restaurants in town. Even though dining is outdoors and the flies can be annoying the overall vibe is fantastic.

Came here to try something different on the island and it did not disappoint. The Shrimp Nachos were phenomenal. The Quesadilla was superb and the fish/shrimp tacos were exceptional. The service was great. We went for lunch which seems like a great time to go. Would highly recommend the nachos and/or the quesadilla.

Stopped by today for some Tacos. Tried the North Shore ones and the Firecracker Nachos. Both were really flavorful. The nachos were my favorite. Lots of Old Bay on the shrimp, and plenty of cheese on the bottom. They weren't like most places where they only put the ingredients on top and then the last half are just plain chips. The only knock on the place was I wish they had more flavors of Jarritos (only had Pineapple and grapefruit when I went).

Had such high hopes for this place as it was recommended by a good friend and most reviews were pretty good and I'm always looking for an awesome taco place. First off, the wait was ridiculous! When I arrived there were maybe 6-8 people in front of me in line. It took 30-40 minutes before I was able to even put in our order. This was mainly due to the fact that they would close the order window every 3-4 orders so the kitchen could catch up. I've never seen a place do this. Maybe they were short staffed? But, I saw at least 6 people "working" in the back. Finally, I was able to put in our order and waited another 40 mins for our food. Meanwhile, I watched at least 15 people come, they would wait, and then they would leave because the wait was so long. We finally got our food and I made sure everything was there, which it was, which was good. But, I mentioned to the guy how long the wait was and all the people I saw abandoning ship in line and he just gave me a weak smile and said “thanks.” He didn't really seem to care so, home I went with our food. I wouldn't have cared so much about the arduous wait if the food was at least decent. It was not. The Kai-Joe beef taco was dry and lacked any flavor or toppings for that matter. The Papa Joe fish taco was mushy and, holy cow!, so fishy that you couldn't taste anything else, plus it lacked the fruit salsa and slaw it was supposed to come with. The shrimp was weird, like it was microwaved or something, not nicely grilled, and the slaw was limp, no crunch or freshness to it. Now that I think of it, they mixed up the fish taco and the shrimp taco and put the fish taco toppings on the shrimp taco and vice versa. The side of chips were soggy or stale and also had no seasoning to them. The only thing that was any good, and the reason for 2 stars, were the side of black beans. We wished we got of those because none of us finished our food. So, long story longer, we will not go back here. Do not recommend until many things improve. You can't blame it on them being new because this place has been open now for many years. Kind of seems like they've done what every other Oak Island restaurant does, start strong, then apathy or burnout occurs and it goes way down hill. So, disappointing. I love tacos and was very much looking forward to having a go-to taco place in Oak Island but, this is not it by a longshot.

Great food and solid pricing! Some outdoor seating and a good amount of parking. Lines may be a little long but its definitely worth it, without a doubt.

I ordered the North Shore shrimp tacos and man were they good! Just the right amount of sauce and Asian slaw, and the shrimp was nice and diced up to perfection! Also pictured is the Avo Bites - deep fried avocado, never had anything like it 10/10

Have been wanting to try Kai-Joe's since the first time I saw it. The atmosphere is the perfect beach setting, walk up window, cheerful smiling staff, and the smell... oof it get's your mouth watering. We had a large order as we were getting takeout for a large family. My husband forgot to get his dad's tacos on corn tortillas (Gluten Sensitive), the owner very nicely made them again on corn tortillas, and then even gave us the extra tacos, so generous. The portions were more than generous as well. I had the Firecracker Shrimp Nachos, they were not overly spicy, they were dripping in queso and the shrimp was cooked to perfection. We ate at a different place on Oak Island every evening we were there and Kai-Joes definitely takes the cake for the best spot on Oak Island. I wish I would've grabbed some pictures of my food before I gobbled it up, but it was just too good!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Morningstar Marinas in Southport, NC, and I couldn't be more impressed! From the moment I arrived, the customer service was absolutely stellar. The staff went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed for my stay. A special shout-out to Gabriel, who helped me find the perfect slip for my Valiant 42 (Molley Jane) ! His knowledge and dedication made the whole process seamless, and I truly appreciate the time he took to make sure my experience was top-notch. The facilities at Morningstar Marina are also exceptionally clean and well-maintained, making it a pleasant environment for any sailor. Theresa, Steve, Mike, Hatch... and others.... We sure felt the southern hospitality the minute we docked at the fuel dock. We had been "running" from Hurricane Erin for 3 days. Nervous and hoping she was going to follow the path that the meteorologists say she was going to. We have ALL SEEN hurricanes turn at the last hour. We arrived... we had assistance docking at the fuel dock and they also showed us where our slip would be. They also assisted us into our slip. I then went exploring and I met Theresa! She was so kind. Actually listened to me talk... she heard my story. She was very friendly! She gave our dog, Margo, a few cookies. Margo was smitten! Margo kept wanting to go back into the building to say hello and get another cookie every time we walked by. Margo knew it felt like "home" right away. Theresa gave us Mike's card and we contacted him the following day. He was also very pleasant and had a lot of answers to our questions. He said he would take care of getting us a slip for at least the next few months. We were so happy and felt so welcomed we scraped our previous plan to get further south into Georgia and have left the boat in their hands for the remainder of hurricane season at least. I was first impressed with the overall quality of the marina as a whole, beautiful. All of the staff are amazing and very knowledgeable about all the aspects of the marina. Dry dock storage is new to me and Kennedy Wright made the entire process of both signing up and understanding how the boat storage works very easy. I found Kennedy to me very responsive to my calls and pleasant to talk to as well as knowledgeable about what the onboarding process is. Highly recommended marina based on my experience with the staff.

Clean and friendly Marina. Easy in and out every time with boats from Freedom Boat Club. Knowledgeable dockhands and staff. Sometimes parking is limited on holiday weekends but we have always been able to get a spot & get out on the boat! Lovely picnic area that we sometimes use when we have visitors, it’s great for a picnic meal after you come off the water and are hungry! Highly recommend this marina.

Clean, modern facility with wide fairways, floating docks, fuel service and walking distance to the restaurants and shops of Southport. Right on the ICW with quick access to the Atlantic. Most significant is the staff, they are top shelf. Knowledgeable, friendly and super helpful. I’d give them 6 stars if it wasn’t option.

Beautiful area along Cape Fear. We had to park boat overnight for repairs. $3:15/ft. Easy access boat ramp. Short walk to shoos and food

Delicious, a must have every time we are in town! I’ve never had an ice cream there that wasn’t amazing! Peanut butter butterfinger is a standout.

Home made ice cream, if you're looking for something to fix that sweet tooth of yours, I highly recommend giving this place a try. You'll be sorry that you didn't stop. Ice cream here is really good and they have alot of options for flavors, as well as other specialties.

Delicious homemade ice cream made onsite with milk from NC dairy cows. Locally owned, fast friendly service. Shady area to eat and a clean restroom. Highly recommend, especially the peanut butter with Butterfinger. We'll be back!

Great choices of daily flavors and even though the line gets long they clear it out quickly. It's ice cream, whats not to like. We got the hot fudge cake sundae and since we were going to split it, we added an additional scoop of ice cream. They added additional whipped cream and a cherry without us having to ask. The sundae was excellent. The girl at the order window was very pleasant and even though they were busy, she let our son sample a flavor without sighing or huffing like many kids these days. I highly recommend stopping and giving them a try even if you see a long line, it's worth it.

We ate at Lil & John’s Sweet Treat for the first time this weekend. We will definitely be back. We had the 6 scoop sampler. A must have! Too many flavors to choose from. The 6 we had were amazing. The line moved fast due to the staff’s efficiency. This stop is a must while vacationing at the beach.

We come to OKI a couple of times a year from NJ and this is by far the best ice cream I have ever had—and I’ve tried plenty of great places. The variety is amazing and each option has a wonderful natural flavor to it. You can tell they take pride in their quality and use premium ingredients. This is our first stop each time we come back into town. Family favorites are the mint chocolate chip, chocolate fudge brownie, lemon sorbet and strawberry.

Best ice cream I’ve had in a while. I’ll be back just to get the Lavender Honey again! 🤤

We have been a few times. We tried the fried pickles this time and they were great. My son loves their wings and I tried the Buffalo chicken sub. We ate most of the fried pickles before I took the photo.

Some of the best pizza I've had in a long time! Absolutely recommend for that alone. The wings are tasty but the umami sauce I tried wasn't super great.

This is a really nice brew pub. Great beer menu. Something for everybody on there. The brewer actually came out and spoke to us which is a nice touch. The food was very good as well. We got a cheeseburger pizza and the kitchen sink pizza. Delish! We will definitely come back when we are back in the area. Service was on point too!!

Great service, beer, and food. Casual atmosphere and quick. Just placed our order at the bar and food was brought to our table. There is a clever and efficient self serve station which has all the things you commonly have to wait for - take out boxes, water, extra napkins, silverware, etc. Great wings with many sauce and dry rub options. Fried ravioli app was good and the chicken parm hoagie was exceptional - especially the roll. I look forward to returning to try some of the other creative menu items.

Had Lunch here with my daughter. Service by (Jordan) was excellent. She was very knowledgable of specials and beer and drink choices. Never waited for anything. Pizza was superb with fresh toppings. Bathrooms were clean. I would definitely come back the next time I am visiting. Great job Jordan!

We ordered 2 appetizers the Parmesan puffs and Pretzel chips. Parmesan puffs were very good but the Pretzel chips were absolutely delicious. For my main dish, Sweet thai chili wings and the solar flare pizza which was Bacon, pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, and onions. The pizza was really good but those wings were absolutely the star of my dinner. The wings were fried perfectly crispy and to be honest, I've never before had wings cooked perfectly to my liking. I'm looking forward to eating my leftovers later.

Love the ordering at the bar area and they bring the food to your table. Flight beers were perfect. Pizza was outstanding.

Love the cute fun atmosphere but the toast was cold and the lattes we got were mostly just milk. The breakfast sandwich was good, but I was very disappointed in the lattes that did not taste like they had any espresso in them.

So good I had to come back the next day for more! Over the course of a couple visits I had the breakfast sandwich, an iced and hot chai latte, lavender lemonade, and cinnamon roll. All were absolutely delicious and well priced. Can’t wait to come back!

EXCELLENT coffee. Came to town for a wedding and stayed just a few blocks away. Felt extremely fortunate to find Ruby’s and start the day off strong. Had both their regular house brew (hot) as well as their cold brew. Of all the cold brews I’ve ever had, I honestly think this was the best ever. Ever! Location on the pier can not be beat!

The coffee was fantastic. But the wait for our bagels was kind of crazy, we clocked it at around 15 minutes. The place wasn't even packed when we placed the order. In that 15-minute span, only two bagel orders came out of the kitchen. For a wait that long, I was hoping for an amazing bagel, but it was just OK. So, five stars for the coffee, but the food service needs to speed things up.

Coffee was great, but the specialty lattes run pretty sweet. Ask for less syrup if you’re not into super sweet lattes. BEC bagel could’ve been toasted a little longer but it was still very good and hit the spot. Will definitely be visiting again! Limited seating inside, so be prepared to wait for a table or just get it to go.

Went for the first time last week. Quick service and a great bagel. My wife got a coffee drink which she enjoyed. Its right on the beach beside the pier.

Thank you, John Henry, for helping us with borrowing the beach wheelchair for our son. He was so pleased to be able to get out by the ocean with ease. The rec dpt building and grounds are beautiful and well maintained when we were by to pick it up.

Awesome gym. Cheap too. Has everything you could need so why pay for an expensive gym membership? Bathroom + showers. There's more to this place than the gym but that's all I use it for. Friendly staff! Plenty of parking and a basketball court next to a tiny nature trail outside.

I love Bill Smith Park on Fish Factory Road! The park is well kept and a safe place to exercise! I ride my bicycle most mornings and am greater with a big smile and wave from Pat, worker at the park! I see people using the Frisbee Golf, walking or just stopping for a social chat! I want to thank Parks and Recreation for providing such a great place to stay healthy and enjoy the park! Very nice. We went for a Christmas craft fair. Being that the fair was going on that day parking was a problem but I'm sure normally it isn't. Nice facility very easy to find and see from the road

Nice facility but needs improvement. WiFi capability very poor (needed for class). Projector provided was broken. Trying to facilitate a class with loud music/exercise class in the room next door very distracting.

This is a wonderful facility available to residents of Oak Island and Southport. The recreation center offers fitness and yoga classes as well as special interest classes in gardening, environmental concerns and many more. There are also two rooms with exercise equipment and weights. There is a small fee for classes.

It was wonderful finding a place to get a beach wheelchair for my grandson. It made everything so much easier. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Fantastic local place run by family with great beach wear, boards, swimsuits, and more. Quality items, that you're happy to have as souvenirs or gifts to or the back home friends who couldn't make it to Oak Island themselves.

I went to Local Call to purchase a skim board for my young grandson, l was hoping for guidance because l don’t know anything about skimboards! Tony at Local Call did not disappoint! He asked pertinent questions about my grandson’s age and size, and helped me get a beautiful, nice quality board that work for my grandson for several years of growing. Buying from local companies always pays off in the knowledge and personal service you get. l will go there for a board for the 3yr old grandson when he needs his first skim board!

A true Oak Island treasure. Been here forever and locals hope it’ll never leave. Best selection of clothing, hats, suits, boards and more. Support your locally-owned OI stores (for clothing that Local Call and Strands, only) not the big box China product store with the octopus, please

Awesome shop. The guy at the front (I'm assuming also the owner) was super attentive. I accidentally broke one of the hangers on a shirt I was looking to by and he came over to replace it before I even got to him. Prices are the same as other shops and they have an interesting selection of clothing.

Very nice airport. They communicated very well when we flew in ,as usual, and always ask how they can help! We enjoy stopping here.

It's a nice airport to visit. The runway is a bit far from the building for viewing but has great covered seating.

The Cape Fear Jetport FBO in Southport isn’t just beautiful—it’s staffed with the friendliest, most helpful people you’ll ever meet. Honestly, I think they’ve raised the bar for every other FBO out there. If southern hospitality had wings, it would be flying out of here. Big thank you to the entire team—you folks are the best I’ve ever encountered on the ground (or in the air), thank you for making our visit such a great experience!

These guys are top notch. Go out of their way to help you out. Mistakenly parked on the wrong side. I seemed to remember the FBO being on the other side; now it is golf cart sales. They came across and picked us up and towed the airplane where I should have parked in the first place. We grabbed a crew car and went into town for lunch. Came back and were caught off guard by some weather that was too rough even for a IFR flight. They left for the day and we stayed until conditions improved. Had a nice flight home. Hats off to MIKE ! He and all the crew were super nice!

Great place, genuine southern charm that will make you want to stay! I flew to Cape Fear Regional Jetport on my first long cross-country flight! Loved the pilot lounge! Will visit again soon!

Phenomenal service and accommodations at Cape Fear Regional Jetport. Mike extended true southern hospitality in every way, from fast service and help getting us in the hangar to pulling the plane up, fueling up and literally putting out the red carpet for us to jump in and taxi off. One of the best FBO experiences I have had. Thank you guys for having us and we will certainly be back.

Food advertised, was told no food in here. Need to change your advertising. Love the pier and the people working in the bait shop. Just very disappointed to run in from the beach to grab a quick bite for lunch after checking out the menu online .

This is the Pier. Small bar great food. I had the turkey, bacon avocado sandwich. Very good Sandwich. About 5 beers on tab and vast assortment of beers in the can. Staff is friendly and accommodating. We will be back

You meet the nicest people in the strangest places. Never fished a day in my life but the staff here and the people who come to visit and listen to music are people you can love for a lifetime! I’ve met so many good friends! Thank you for the awesome idea of mixing fishing, friends and fun! You ROCK!

I love this bar. My friends and I call it flamingo jacks sometimes, but it’s actually called seahorse. They have great weekly specials, a great vibe, new deck, and solid live music. You can find us getting tropical at seahorse

We LOVE this spot! We were so excited when they started serving drinks.. it's a great little break from the beach to cool off and have a drink! Lots of NC local beer selections! Greg is super awesome. They have music and just an awesome little spot. Don't listen to the nay sayers, we don't need any Karen's around here! Highly recommend!!

Good food long wait but worth it

Great little spot for a picnic or fishing off the dock, or watching the boats go by. There are two picnic tables, and free, but limited parking. Restrooms are available next to the Nature Center.

This is a nice fishing pier on the intercoastal waterway. Very peaceful, and there is a nature center and a small trail next to it in addition to a boat dock.

OKI Beachin Rides is the absolute best on the island. Our bikes were waiting for us when we arrived and the child carriers are so incredible for smaller children that you want to ride with you. The owner was so kind and friendly. I highly recommend this business, easy to book and the bikes were brand new!

We booked ahead for our vacation bike rentals and Michael the owner got back to ASAP on questions I had. I texted him and ask him a question he was right there with what I needed at the rental place. Best experience ever with a company. Book your bikes here great company!!

Beautiful place to go for an evening swim and to see the sunset. The parking is free after 5 pm. $20 before 5:00. There are 2 portable restrooms and an outdoor shower next to the parking lot. We got there about 2 hours before sunset and it was wonderful.

It was great. We went out for some family photos a little before sunset and got some good ones. It is a great place to enjoy the beach, find shells, and play on the water. When it is not too crowded, I enjoy fishing in the area. It has restrooms and a large parking lot as well as a ramp for easier access. Just like all other access points on Oak Island, no vehicles are allowed on the beach.

We visited the point for fishing. We only caught one blue fish, but I wouldn’t say we tried particularly hard. I’d still say it’s a good area to fish. It’s a great spot to watch the sunset and parking is free after 5:00PM.

AMAZING sunsets!!! The best time to get here is an hour before the sunset, so you can secure parking and walk to the point before the sun sets or while it is setting. There are tons of sea shells out towards the point. The parking is free after 5 pm but some spots are reserved. There are 2 portable restrooms and an outdoor shower next to the parking lot. I highly recommend this immersive experience where you’ll hear the ocean waves, feel the ocean breeze and capture the beauty of the sunset.

The point is definitely one of the best beach accesses for Oak Island, especially if you have children. Some beach accesses have very high dunes, whereas both accesses at the point are nearly flat. Not to mention, given it is a scenic spot or attraction, there is a decent sized parking lot as well. We really love this spot. There are often little pools of water forming in the area which are warm and fun to lay in during high tide.

Absolutely gorgeous and breathtaking. Lots of wildlife including crabs, jellyfish, sea cucumbers, and fishes. A great perk is that there is a sound side where you can go swimming and the water is just so amazingly clear as if you are in the Bahamas and there is a side with a beach and waves. I highly recommend going, I can assure anyone that they would not regret it.

This is a serene little place to take your family and relax. The dock is a nice place to get some shots of the water. The picnic tables absolutely need completely replaced or repaired. Could easily see kids getting some splinters in them.

A nice little visit we stopped with the kids to get a different view of the coastal region. Many crabs. Our place was a few blocks away and we walked there to stretch our legs and take in the scenery.
