Zoo
Healesville Sanctuary, located in the Yarra Valley, is a dedicated zoo focused on Australian wildlife conservation and fighting extinction. Visitors can support this not-for-profit organization while enjoying up-close encounters with wombats at Wombat Pat and Play, witnessing the daily bird show 'Spirits of the Sky,' and learning from informative Meet the Keeper talks. The sanctuary offers an immersive experience for kids with interactive exhibits like Tales from Platypus Creek and Dingo Country.
This sanctuary is such a peaceful and beautiful place to visit. The surroundings are calm, green, and full of natural beauty, making it perfect for relaxation and photography. You can spot a variety of birds/animals and really connect with nature here. The area is well-maintained, clean, and safe for families. A wonderful escape from the busy city life—highly recommend visiting for anyone who loves nature and tranquility.

Absolutely love Healesville sanctuary! My kids and I always have the best time when we visit. The staff are lovely, animals are gorgeous, plenty of play areas and beautiful bush land. I love the peaceful feeling I get when I hear the river water run. The flight arena bird show is always fun but warning it can get quite toasty in the warmer weather as there’s little to no shade in this part. I absolutely adore the bird enclosure with the gorgeous black cockatoos ❤️ my favourite birds. The kids love all the play areas but their favourite is the sandpit with the dinosaur skeleton.
Aimee E — Google review
Fantastic experience. Bigger than I expected. Good to have talks at different locations. So happy I got to see a platypus, Tasmanian Devil family at feeding time and echidna. The koalas were active moving and eating so it was a perfect time to walk past. Spirits of the Sky show was awesome. The birds were so well trained out in the wild (no enclosure) and they performed for us. Loved the swoop to catch a fish in the water, crack open an emu egg and reveal of thanks signage. It was different seeing a wombat and kangaroos in an upturned position (playing dead). Wow, a tree kangaroo. A wonderful visit and beautiful sunshine to make it the amazing time I had. The map was really handy and the signages were great.
Esther S — Google review
I love coming here, every time we return it’s always as enjoyable as the last. The habitats created for all the animals are beautiful replications of their homes in the wild. The wellbeing and happiness seems to be well taken care of in this zoo, the animals always seem very at ease no pacing or signs of distress. There’s something really serene and peaceful about this place, love having a chat with the staff too. Today was the first time we went near the end of the day, and it worked out quite well as we got to see the kangaroos having their evening feed, looked at the reptiles with not a single person in the the whole building too. Always a lovely experience.
Charlotte V — Google review
A wonderful zoo will undoubtedly delight visitors. The extensive grounds offer the opportunity to get acquainted with a variety of wild animals, from platypuses to rare species of kangaroos. You can also see active snakes and turtles here, as well as visit the laboratory and observe many wild and rare birds. Additionally, visitors will be able to see dingoes, koalas, and much more. Visiting this remarkable zoo promises to be interesting for both children and adults.
K K — Google review
We only had about 3 hours to spend and wish we had more. The exhibits were excellent. The animals had a lot of space and were also visible most of the time. The Tasmanian Devils were very active when we were there. We also got to see the platypus and attend the talk about them. I wish we had more time to hear more of the talks. The presenter was very knowledgeable and patient. The bird enclosures were also very nice with volunteers available to answer questions.
Crys — Google review
Me and my friends are all Zoo Victoria members, and we absolutely love animals! 🐾 Healesville Sanctuary is one of our favourite places to visit. We often come here whenever we have free time — it’s such a lovely and joyful place to walk around and spend time with friends and family. All the staff are always so nice and friendly. I especially love listening to the animal talks and watching the Spirits of the Sky bird show — it’s amazing every time! 🦅 We always leave feeling relaxed and happy after visiting. Highly recommend it to all animal lovers! 🌿💚
Rayne J — Google review
We walked around for about 3 hours seeing the animals and watching a cool birds of prey experience. There were lots of different kinds of parrots and water birds. I was so stoked to see some pelicans up close as id only ever seen them on tv. We didn’t get to hug a koala or hold a snake but I fell in love with the echidnas and the baby duckbilled platypus. Most of the animals were either hiding in the shade in the cool and i didnt blame them as we were melting ourselves. It got up to 25 or 26c at one stage. 40 years ago I visited this sanctuary when I was on a big international group camping trip kind of like a scout jamboree but it was called Rally Arura ( and was church based). It’s certainly changed a lot in the past 40 years. I’ll have to hunt out my old photos when I get home. Was it worth $119 AU for the two of us? Definitely.

Four Pillars Gin Distillery, located in Healesville, is a craft distillery that has been producing a wide range of gin since its establishment in 2013. The distillery's focus revolves around their four pillars: great copper stills, pristine Yarra Valley water, traditional and exotic botanicals, and an abundance of love. Visitors can enjoy the modern tasting room offering cocktails and snacks or participate in one of their gin masterclasses.
Loved every moment of the gin tasting , it happened to be world Gin day 14th June — It was a perfect mix of fun and learning. The selection was diverse, the flavors were fantastic, and the hosts were knowledgeable and friendly. I discovered new favorites and gained a real appreciation for the craft behind each bottle. Highly recommend it to any gin lover! 🍸
Romesh G — Google review
Four Pillars Gin was not even in our original plan, but we were already in the mood after champagne and wine stops, so I thought, why not complete the circle with some gin? I am not exactly a gin person, but I have to say, this stop made me rethink that a little. The gin was great, yes, but can we talk about the duck pate? I had it after a full cheese fondue lunch at Chandon, and still managed to finish the entire jar by myself. It was creamy, flavourful and went so well with their crackers. Honestly, I would go back just for that pate. For the drinks, I ordered the gin tasting set which came with four different types of gin, served with tonic water on the side so you could mix to your liking. I got to try a few variations, but the one that really stood out for me was the Shiraz Gin. It had a nice depth and smoothness that I did not expect. Easy to drink and very well balanced. The place itself has a cool industrial chic vibe, very open and relaxed. Staff were friendly and made the tasting experience fun without being too formal. It did not feel rushed and we got to enjoy everything at our own pace. If you are in the area, even if you are not a gin lover, I say give it a try. You might leave with a new favourite and definitely with a full stomach.

Popped in on Friday around 5 p.m. and the place was absolutely buzzing. Happy hour kicked off at 6 with great drink specials, amazing cocktails, and a full house. The yuzu gin was incredible and the yuzu sour cocktail was even better. The staff were fun and friendly, and the whole place had a great energy. They also run a happy hour dinner on Friday nights, which looked awesome. Definitely the spot to be and probably my number one pick when visiting Healesville.
Chris ( — Google review
I had no idea that Four Pillars Gin originated in Melbourne! We stopped by after visiting the Redwood Forest to do a gin tasting and ended up learning a lot about the gin-making process. It was fascinating to discover how different spices are infused to create unique flavours. We also got to rate several distinct gin varieties and try some cocktails made with their different gins — each with fruity, coffee, chocolate, or smoky notes. The experience was really enjoyable, easy to access, and they even offer a membership with some great deals.
Andrew G — Google review
A nice place for an afternoon chill with friends or family over gin and some bar food. A small distillery to see the making of the Four Pillar gins. They have a small restaurant that let u taste their gin and cocktails (the cocktail flight is a must), and enjoy some finger food/ snacks. There is also a small shop to buy some merchandise and of course their famous gin to bring home.
Alan T — Google review
Had an explosion of flavour for lunch before completing a gin tasting of 7 of Four Pillars finest Gins. The whole experience was absolutely amazing thanks to a charismatic young gentlemen by the name of Cooper. He educated us about all the traditional spices and infusions in gin making and what sets Four Pillars aside from the rest. His passion and love for what he does, along with his endless knowledge made for a wonderful gin filled afternoon. Cannot recommend Four Pillars highly enough for a visit for foodies and gin lovers. Simply a MUST when in Healesville hopefully you will be lucky enough to meet Cooper the legend himself. Four Pillars also have a nonalcoholic range which is also in a league of its own compared to other nonalcoholic spirits. Full of flavour and just as delicious.
Hannah R — Google review
My wife took me to Four Pillars for my 35th birthday and I have now fallen in love with Gin thanks to them 😍 Amazing place. Was served by David who gave us a wonderful experience with so many smiles, stories, and samples. Every Gin I tired was beauitful. Strongly recommend visiting the distillery. I'll be back soon I know it. Shop at the front is well stocked and very good prices.

This place was fun. Well worth the drive and if you’re a gin lover like me, it’s a must try. We had the G&T paddle and discovered a new gin, olive leaf, which is scrumptious so I’ll be going back and getting a couple more bottles. The snacks were good too. We had the fries and a tiramisu dip…so so good.

Maroondah Reservoir Park, located in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, offers a variety of scenic experiences. Visitors can explore gardens, a waterfront walking trail, and a charming playground. The park features bushwalks and bike paths with plenty of picnic spots along the way. A pedestrian bridge provides access to the magnificent spillway of the 41-meter-high dam wall, offering panoramic views of manicured gardens, forestland, and the tranquil reservoir lake.
Very nice park for a walk or run. The dam is very cool to check out from both above and below. All the trails are quite wide and easy to follow. Lots of birds and we also saw a few kangaroos. Also lots of parking and facilities easily accessible. All super close to Healesville!

A beautiful park just outside of Healesville. Lots of trails to walk along with a variation of difficulty, so good for all hikers. Some awesome views and wildlife to be seen along the way. You can't take your dog along the dam but you can take your dog on the lower park area. Lots of areas for picnics and good, clean toilet facilities. Highly recommended!

Maroondah Reservoir Park is a beautiful place to visit. The park has a peaceful atmosphere with a lovely forest walk and a small dam hike that’s enjoyable. The drive to the park itself is scenic and relaxing. Perfect spot for nature lovers to explore and unwind!

I went to Maroondah Reservoir Park on a sunny day and it was a beautiful experience. The route to the viewpoint has spectacular landscapes and many areas for photos. The reservoir is impressive and you can breathe a lot of tranquillity. Ideal for a picnic, walking or just disconnecting. There are bathrooms and free parking near the entrance. It is recommended to bring water, sunscreen and camera. I would go back without thinking about it.

Nestled in the tranquil Yarra Valley, the TarraWarra Museum of Art is a must-visit for art enthusiasts. Established in 2003 by Eva and Marc Besen, this museum boasts a diverse collection that showcases Australia's artistic journey, from contemporary masterpieces to indigenous artworks. The museum also serves as a platform for cultural dialogue and appreciation. With over 100 exhibitions hosted, it offers an extensive privately owned collection donated by the founders.
A wonderful private Gallery set amongst vineyards, rolling hills with a picturesque lake. Fantastic exhibitions held here. Adjoining restaurant has wonderful food but a little expensive. A worthwhile hour or so drive from Naarm/Melbourne.

Visited TarraWarra Museum of Art in the Yarra Valley and wow - what a beautiful spot! The building is stunning, built into the hills with gorgeous views through huge windows. Their art collection is small but thoughtful. A bit far from Melbourne but worth visiting if you're in the area!!

Stunning grounds, and a very impressive collection of art. Would recommend stopping by if you’re in the area. There’s also a cellar door and restaurant on site which both looked great
Isabella P — Google review
The place is stunning, a combination of museum, gallery and wine tasting bar. The scenery is very attractive but calm with water features. The architectural of the buildings were attractive too with all the sunlight and shadow. All the staff are super friendly, especially at the wine tasting bar, a lot of small talk and really let us enjoy the time for the wine tasting, not as commercial as other you may encounter. Also the place is relatively quiet so no need to be rush and face the crowd. if you prefer some quiet moment and for some wine tasting that is not being pushed, here is the place.

We really really enjoyed our visit. The Staff are friendly and welcoming. Well worth a visit and allow plenty of time to explore. Don’t miss the Callum Morton installation on the way in (make sure you go inside)
Tony B — Google review
We went for lunch but stayed for the art exhibition. It was mainly indigenous art, much of which was beyond me. I found some works very moving. It included painting, sculpture, video/sound works and other forms of art. Worth a visit and the restaurant has excellent food though not cheap. You certainly get quality for the money and the service is first class.
Russell C — Google review
We haven't had a chance to visit when the museum opens so we can give a review regarding the external area only. It was a great scenic spot to chill out for get away trip. The best time to visit would be around the autumn season as they have few nice areas with yellow autumn leaves plants. I guess other seasons like spring are also good with leafy pathways and a big pond in the middle. It gives a calm and peaceful feeling when walking or sitting around in the area.

Scenic spot
Black Spur Drive is a picturesque and winding road that stretches for about 15 kilometers between Healesville and Narbethong. The route is renowned for its towering mountain ash trees and massive tree ferns, making it a popular highlight for travelers since the early 1900s. Along the way, visitors can also explore nearby attractions such as Donnellys Weir, Dom Dom Saddle, or Maroondah Reservoir Park.
I nearly cried when driving this road it was so beautiful. Truly the most amazing road i have ever driven. My pictures don't do it justice as there are very few spots to stop for a small truck like i was driving. If you love trees and hiking like i do you won't be disappointed. You could not wipe the smile off my face all day. I give it 10 stars here is my extra five 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

No matter the weather — rain, shine, or mist — driving through this lush rainforest is an unforgettable experience. The winding roads, the towering green canopy, and the soothing sound of nature create a journey that’s as calming as it is breathtaking.

The drive was very pleasant. This road is surrounded by thick forest. You don’t get phone signals though. Very few visitors were there. The place is very peaceful.

Excellent drive, tight corners, beautiful trees and fauna, be careful and follow speed limits.
Mario B — Google review
Amazing driving along these roads, I wish I had dash cam to capture the video. Stopped in few places snap few pics. Highly recommended.
Chaitanya R — Google review
It's a stunning drive with beautiful greenery and nature. You do need to take it easy on the roads and not recommended on a wet day as it's not for the faint-hearted or those who get car sick.
Flavia — Google review
A slow drive to enjoy the scene on both side of the road. It's a pity that there are not many "strategic" places on the sides of the road to stop for more photos. Hopefully the council can do something about that. I have seen a group of people just parked their big ute on a narrow stripe on the side and walked along ON the narrow road to take photos. It was dangerous as the road is twist and turn, and the other drivers may not see them to stop or avoid them. I would suggest that best to park on the few road sides that are wide enough and safe to take photos, and not walk on the road.
Michael C — Google review
Black Spur Drive is a scenic route with beautiful trees and bushes, lush greenery all around. It's overwhelming in its beauty. There are very few places to stop, and the roads are somewhat narrow. However, it's still worth the drive. The air is superbly fresh.

The hotel's colonial charm is evident in its spacious dining room adorned with wicker chairs, potted palms, and ceiling fans.
Went to the grand on the weekend for lunch with family. We chose outside dining because it was nice weather and we had a doggo. Friendly staff, food arrived on time, meals were good everyone was happy. Would definitely recommend.

When you 1st walk in it is like a step back in time, loved the ambience of the place but that is where the good stuff ended. Once we ordered our food which came out burnt for the people having scnitzel we never saw the staff again. We were there for 3hrs and still had all our dirty plates sitting on the table at least an hour after we finished eating. The wine menu was pretty ordinary as well. A few steps down the road you find another pub which is fabulous, you get a great meal, fabulous staff and everyone is full of smiles. A very bad end to a fabulous weekend away for a special occasion

I cannot thank The Grand Hotel enough for hosting our family and friends get together before our mums funeral. Thank you for making this day perfect for us…

We stayed one night on a Sunday. The bed had multiple bugs in it on the sheets and the communal toilet/bathroom was pretty dirty. So dirty that both hubby and I decided to shower at home. Pretty dissapointing. Its well prices, but this doesnt mean it should not be clean.
Kim M — Google review
NEVER EVER AGAIN will we return to the grand hotel. We were left waiting 50 minutes for cold fish and chips and then another 10 minutes later for our salads & Chicken Parmi. Basic pub food is not that hard. The staff obviously havnt tasted their own food as salt and pepper doesn't cost much. The food was really poor quality, served on a dirty sticky table combined with the managers lack of concern when we mentioned the slow & cold food just made us leave rather than stay for drinks and deserts. Great old building but the place is obviously very poorly run.
K B — Google review
Stopped in for a beer, nice little bar area, love the open fireplace. Cute little place. Wasn't open for dinner but the rooms looked nice. Staff were friendly and helpful. Huge outdoor area.
Sasha-Maree — Google review
The menu and ambience are amazing. I have been to the restaurant last year and enjoyed every bite of my meal. But the place needs a bit of work as an accommodation. I booked two rooms the previous weekend, and the conditions were not as expected. The bathroom and toilet needed maintenance and were cleaned only after we complained. Common toilets tend to get dirtier more often and need more cleaning. The business did not have dedicated staff for accommodation, and it went pear-shaped for them when the restaurant got busy. We were from Melbourne, so we checked out within half an hour and headed back. But for tourists, it would have been a nightmare. I will not put photos, as I would like the business to see this as more of an opportunity to improve rather than a bitter brawl for a restaurant to lose its reputation.

Yarra Valley Railway is a heritage railway located at the Healesville Railway Station complex, which was constructed in 1902. The station building features extensive passenger waiting facilities and intact toilets, along with other associated structures such as a lamp room, goods shed, water tower, and turntable. This site holds historical significance as it catered specifically for peak holiday traffic and reflects the development of Healesville as a tourist destination.
Was great to finally get a ride on here. We were booked on when it first started, but the day before our trip, it was cancelled to fix a problem, we missed out a mnth ago by 5mins, so it was great to pass through on Sunday, and saw station opened, so we got tickets to go on the 3pm run. Last one of the day. Got my son a Vic rail t-shirt. We got 2 t-shirts a month ago instead of a ride, and a bag, tea towel etc. A bit of everything they had really🤣, but worth it.
Rebeckah O — Google review
This railway is fantastic. Whilst the trip is short ( a bit over 1/2 hour all up) it’s very enjoyable riding the historic train, Looking forward to the day when the tracks are upgraded all the way to Yarra Glen.
Tony B — Google review
They charged full price when they do not take you all the way into the tunnel. They have limited times they run, mostly in school holidays, so pick your times when you’re going to go. Great little hidden gem while you’re in town, unique to Healesville. Great people who run it.
T P — Google review
Wow, what a ride, even tho it was a short trip and wet, still 100% worth it. Staff were very friendly and helpful and made the experience amazing. I would recommend doing it. You never know who you will meet.😀 Thank you, guys, for a wonderful afternoon And I look forward to returning soon.

There is nothing quite as quaint as riding in a vintage railcar through the countryside; hopefully the tunnel and tracks to Yarra Glen will be completed soon for a longer trip!

So, our lunch: fried truffled polenta chips, wood fired flat bread (really good) and hummus, ricotta persimmon and pomegranate with capoccollo (an absolute stand-out so refreshing and nicely partners the flat bread), the braised cheek and casarecce, and the free range pork belly. This was a good combination, and it was a great lunch rounded off with the fun dessert cones…we shared four with our coffee. Thoroughly enjoyed, and impressed with our lunch with a couple of the Innocent Bystander wines. Reasonably quiet on a Friday and parking was no issue. We did make a booking but could have walked in but you just wouldn’t know. Staff were great, friendly and engaging. So, we were leaving Healesville today Sunday, and decided to try Innocent Bystander again on the way out of town just because we were so impressed two days before. Casual easy dining with great food and a few drinks for Sunday lunch was a perfect idea but we had no booking. And, there were no tables…doh…but we said that we were happy to wait twenty minutes and were actually seated in five…the staff are really so good. Today’s lunch: Fried barramundi wings crispy with lots of meat … very nice, polenta chips again-just couldn’t help having them again and likewise with the ricotta- so good. The pickled sardines are good if you are a sardine person, and we filled it all out with a delicious cacciatori pizza. Again, well satisfied. The place was busy, the staff industrious but friendly, and another great lunch was had. Worth checking out. We will be back again.

Had a really nice dinner here. Big dining space with lots of seating. Servers were super nice. The food was very nice, we liked some more than others: zucchini salad was amazing (!!), and the steak and chicken both very nice. Would pass on the truffle chips if we returned. Overall had a great time and would definitely recommend this place if you’re in Healesville.

Not a bad place , would we rush back no……. For starters we rolled up at 5.35pm just for a couple pizzas and drinks …. We got served right away as there were only 4 tables being used the rest were vacant , when seated we asked for a specific table ( tall table) we were told no we couldn’t as there all book d out from 6pm……. So we order our 2 pizzas ( pork fennel and prosciutto) both came very quick both had very nice pizza bases and crust was very nice in regards to the toppings on the prosciutto it was very wet and saucy the cheese was cold and Tomato sauce/paste was very plain , the pork and fennel there was bugger all sausage and no wow factor , the drinks we both had were very nice by the time we left the table we wanted was not occupied and only 2 other table were occupied by the time we left so why couldn’t we have the table we asked for ? In my opinion the pizzas down the road are a lot better and a lot better customer service.

We had a really good experience for lunch on a Sunday. It was four of us and we ordered the meter of charcuterie as well as two pizzas and a salad. We were hungry and the food didn’t disappoint. It was delicious! Our server was awesome as well. When I couldn’t decide between two wines, she recommended a flight and I ordered a rose as well (which I normally wouldn’t order, but it was crisp and dry). It was a perfect recommendation!

Excellent food. Waiter wasn't pushy but perfectly attentive. Best Rosé I have tasted. Loved the wines and bought some for later. Lovely staff created relaxed atmosphere for enjoyable lunch. Very happy with this establishment. Recommended!

We shared 2 pizzas and a paella between 4 adults, and it was a good amount of food. Everything tasted great, and the wine tasting (5-6 varieties) was gratis for having eaten at the restaurant ($5 otherwise). Inflation has hit the menu prices, but that's true of just about every restaurant at this point. The toilets are mostly unisex, which is a bit unusual.

Absolutely loved our time at Innocent Bystander. The complementary wine tasting was a great addition and we took home a bottle of the shiraz cienna. Highly recommend the sweet and spicy nuts at the bar to go with it. We also loved the food here. The paella con carne was super flavourful with chicken and chorizo, lamb pizza was a delight and the French fries with the truffled pecorino was a highlight! The ambiance was very cozy with the fireplace and the staff very friendly and helpful. Thanks for having us!
Rochelle K — Google review
Innocent Bystander was a very unique spot for lunch. The wine came in Erlenmeyer Flasks which was a cool thing for the tasting. The wine was good but not the best we had in the region, however, the food and dessert was absolutely delicious! This more than made it worth it as well as the amazing indoor area they had. We’d definitely come back for food and drinks if we were nearby.

Spanning 14 acres, this tropical-themed oasis features a stunning array of lotus ponds, serene lakes, and meandering walking trails. From December to April, visitors can marvel at the mesmerizing Giant Amazon Waterlilies and over 70 varieties of waterlily flowers, including Claude Monet's original collection from France. The garden also offers attractions such as the Golden Lotus display and Tropical World Complex.
It is a beautiful garden. On a busy day they hire parking assistant to help guiding people to park. Staff is friendly to give you a map and welcome you. The garden has built plenty of facilities, shaded area for picnic, toilets and ice cream booth. The garden is maintained well. On Australia Day weekend the flowers are not in full blossom so guess that we might be a bit late in the season. Overall this is a nice place and can see the management put in great effort to make it a great place to visit

The drive up was great. It is now the end of lotus season however I was amazed at the different species colours, sizes and shapes. The flowering season is 24 December to 21/4 every year, confirm with the site directly. It was the most enjoyable day to walk around and experience such diversity in one place. The gardens are an attachment to the nursery.
Donna S — Google review
it was beautiful and such a lovely place to walk around. But the day we went was very hot, and unfortunately, many of the flowers were already wilted or past their peak. I think it’s best to visit in the middle of the event season rather than towards the end for a better experience. Still, it’s a charming spot overall! 🪷🪷🪷🪷

I visited Blue Lotus Garden in March 2024 and was amazed by its peaceful beauty. The vibrant lotus blooms were stunning, and the weather was perfect—sunny yet mild, making the stroll through the garden even more enjoyable. The well-maintained paths and calm atmosphere provided a relaxing experience. The on-site café was a great spot for a refreshing drink and light snacks, offering a perfect break amidst the greenery. Overall, it was a lovely escape into nature, ideal for those looking for tranquility and beauty. Heads up for cafe 👍

Very customer focused, a great venue for big group gatherings, plenty for kids to see as well (kids free under 15). Paths are designed with lovely shade areas to sit, rest and admire the beautiful atmosphere and flowering lotus. On a 30.C day we could still meander through the water garden with comfort and ease, even with plenty of visitors. Get in early (10am open) for the best photos and a well earned rest at the gorgeous cafe with lotus chips, an icy cold drink, when the crowds start building. Staff are very accomodating as you can bring your own food with picnic tables available, BBQ facilities and toilets are clean. A perfect day to enjoy the beauty of these flowers.

Exceptional! Beautiful gardens, easy to walk around even with my dodgy knees, lots of benches and little shaded huts to stop and admire the view or have your picnic, cafe staff were friendly and efficient, enjoyed my quiche. Clean toilets and well managed carpark, everything was running like a well oiled machine, I was impressed. I also bought a bunch of lillies to take home.

Nature’s wonderful beauty at it’s best. Stunning lotuses and water lilies. Huge variety of flowers and plants all around. Must visit and take your guests and family for a picnic in the 1400 acres of beauty developed over 60 years! Lakes, ponds, flower features and trees are a treat for the eyes and soul. Warratina Lavender Farm, located at 105 Quayle Road Wandin Yallock, Victoria 3139, offers a serene experience surrounded by beautiful lavender fields. While there isn't a designated play area, the main draw is the opportunity to capture stunning photographs of the lavender blooms. Even towards the end of the season in February, visitors can enjoy free entrance and still find pockets of blooming lavender with a fragrant atmosphere that attracts butterflies and bees.
We had the pleasure of visiting Warratina Lavender Farm on a sunny Sunday afternoon, and I cannot recommend it enough! From the moment we arrived, Annmarie, the owner, made us feel so welcome. She’s incredibly passionate about her farm and took the time to share the history, challenges, and detailed process of harvesting lavender. Her talk was so informative and inspiring, and you can really feel her love for what she does. The $15 entry fee was more than worth it – it included the fascinating tour and a cup of lavender ice cream, which was absolutely delicious. If you visit between November and December, you’ll see the fields in full bloom, but even in January, when most of the lavender has already been harvested, Annmarie’s stories and the serene atmosphere make the visit worthwhile. Don't miss the lavender scones—they’re a must-try! Plus, the gift shop is filled with high-quality, unique items that make perfect souvenirs. Everything on the farm feels crafted with care, and it’s clear that Annmarie’s dedication shines through in every detail. If you're looking for a peaceful, educational, and delicious experience, Warratina Lavender Farm is the place to be!

I could die a happy girl in the lavender fields here. The smell is intoxicating, and the products in the shop are really great. The girls who work there are super friendly and helpful. There’s a cafe in the back, but also we happened to be there on a day they had a doggie event so everyone was out with their pups and there were vendors selling all sorts of trinkets and things, plus a handful of food trucks to boot. There was plenty of lavender to meander even though we came late in the season after they harvested a lot of it. Definitely worth the visit. We actually spent more time here than we originally intended, and I don’t regret it one bit.
Amanda E — Google review
A very good place to visit. There is a restaurant and a separate gift shop. It has got tours in the small factory as well but you have to pay for it. We tried lavender ice cream which comes in little cups. It was a bit too sweet and although it is a small amount of ice cream, it's hard to finish it because of its sweetness. I guess you need to have that sweet flavour to go with the lavender taste. Anyway, it was energising and worth trying. There are other products such as candles, toys, honey, mustard, fresh lavender, lavender plants etc. I didn't go to the restaurant so I don't really know about it. We had a relaxing time there.

A Must-Visit Destination - Warratina Lavender Farm I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Warratina Lavender Farm, and I must say, it's a true gem! The farm offers ample parking, making it easily accessible for all visitors. Photography enthusiasts will be in heaven, as the picturesque lavender fields provide a stunning backdrop for capturing memorable moments. With an affordable ticket price of $15 per adult and free admission for kids under 6 years, it's an excellent value for families and groups. The on-site cafe is a lovely addition, offering a perfect spot to relax and unwind amidst the beautiful surroundings. The best time to visit is from November to January, with December being an ideal month for photography. If you're interested in witnessing the harvesting process, plan your visit from December onwards. Overall, I highly recommend Warratina Lavender Farm to anyone seeking a unique and enchanting experience. Don't miss out on this incredible destination! 😄

Warratina Lavender Farm is a serene escape and a delightful destination for anyone looking to unwind amidst nature’s beauty. Nestled in the picturesque Yarra Valley, this farm offers a unique experience that combines relaxation, great food, and stunning views. The highlight of our visit was walking through the gorgeous lavender fields. The soothing fragrance of the lavender, coupled with the scenic backdrop of rolling hills, made it a sensory delight. It’s a fantastic spot for photography, and the peaceful ambiance feels like a true retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The café is another gem, offering a menu that creatively incorporates lavender into their dishes. We tried their lavender scones with lavender jam and cream—absolutely divine! The lavender ice cream was also a standout, with a subtle floral flavor that was both refreshing and unique. The staff were warm and welcoming, eager to share insights about lavender farming and the various products available in their shop. Speaking of which, the gift shop is a treasure trove of handmade lavender goods, from essential oils and soaps to candles and dried bouquets—a perfect way to take a piece of the farm home. Warratina Lavender Farm is more than just a visit; it’s an experience that soothes the mind and soul. Whether you’re a lavender enthusiast or simply looking for a tranquil outing, this place is a must-see. We’ll definitely be back!

A lovely little lavender farm. Lots of adorable butterflies and bees fluttering around and working hard on the farm. The lavender ice-cream was fragrant, refreshing and delicious. The staff here host an interesting informative talk/demonstration every 30 minutes on the history of the lavender farm and the process of collecting and drying the lavender. There is also a cottage tea room here that serves light meals. There is a beautiful little garden on site as well. The garden has many pretty flowers and a serene atmosphere.

A fantastic lavender farm to visit! Beautiful scenery and dogs are welcome! Tour was great and very informative, and the owner was absolutely lovely! Great venue to visit! Coffee and cakes were welcome, especially those with a 'hint' of lavender in (which was actually quite nice!). Plenty of seating in the shade for the cafe and dogs are welcome there outside too! You get an ice cream (lavender flavoured) with the tour too.

The Big Bouquet is a delightful destination for families with kids, offering an affordable and enjoyable alpaca feeding experience. The venue features two playgrounds, including an impressive in-ground trampoline, making it a fun place for children to play. Visitors can also indulge in delicious scones at the on-site cafe while admiring the beautiful flowers and purchasing items from the charming gift store. Additionally, there are opportunities to feed the adorable alpacas and Minnie the sheep.
What a fantastic place to visit! The flowers were stunning. Be aware the hot house is hot, as expected. There were flowers as far as we could see; so impressive. The Alpacas were very cute & photogenic. The tea rooms had a small but good range with options for a light lunch. There's also much to tempt you in the shop both floral & alpaca related. There was ample parking onsite which is free.

good place to stop. quiet cafe with shop. coffee is good quality and you can nip next door and buy some flowers. There is a land garden with a playground so the kids can play. I think you could have a picnic on the lawn and look at the Alpacas. The shop has hand bags, scarves etc.
Paul D — Google review
Highly aesthetic place with cute alpacas. Nice place to kick back and have a cup of coffee. The cafe sells feed for the alpacas should you want to feed them. The alpacas are generally well-groomed and friendly to humans.

PLEASE visit here if you're in the area with kids. Awesome (and affordable) alpaca feeding (the alpacas are super gentle), possibly one of the best playgrounds in the area, nice cafe with yummy scones. Two baby alpacas less than 2 wks old when we visited a couple days ago. Didn't seem to be a typical Yarra Valley thing to go to but it's such a nice and unique place to visit with the kids. Alpacas weren't super hungry when we went tho. The cafe lady actually went out and encouraged them to come over to us. We could see the Alpacas from the playground too.

Visited on 12 August. One of the most disappointing tasting experiences. We’ve done tastings at a number of cellar doors around Yarra and have met wonderful sommeliers. But the one at Tarrawarra was a huge letdown. Didn’t get the sommerlier’s name but he was just giving us his bare minimal and felt like we were rushed to finish. It was a real pity as the place is gorgeous. But the experience left a real bad aftertaste.

With its focus on providing top-notch dining experiences, Oakridge Wines stands out as one of the premier choices for food enthusiasts exploring the area.
There's wineries and then there's Oakridge :) What an amazing experience. Not just the food (I'll get to that in a minute), but the surroundings, history and charm of the place. Firstly, the service. Our young server was without a doubt AMAZING at his job. Had to remember all of the decisions and their meticulous details on a daily basis (as the menu changes so often due to what fresh produce is available). Was helpful, attentive and I even offered him a job!!! The food, you ask... Oh food, glorious food... We are so lucky in this country. We genuinely need to appreciate it. Light, tasty, full of depth, fresh are all words that come to mind... I can't fault a single dish we all had. Right down to the bread. Just so damn good :) Will definitely come back to bring the family along.
Umie — Google review
There are just so many wineries in Melbourne that choosing one felt like a mini project. I did quite a bit of research before finally settling on Oakridge, and I have to say, it did not disappoint. The experience felt a little more personal compared to the bigger, more commercial wineries. The cellar door host who guided us through the tasting was absolutely lovely. She gave one of the best wine explanations I have ever had. She talked us through their red wines in such detail, then offered us their white and sparkling too. We really got to explore the variety. What stood out the most was when she started explaining about the soil types. That was something I never paid attention to, but it was such an eye opener. I left knowing that even the ground your grapes grow on plays a huge role in the taste. It made the whole wine tasting experience more meaningful. The ambiance was peaceful and relaxing. Floor to ceiling glass panels gave us the best view of the vineyard, and with the winter chill, I really appreciated the warm sunlight coming in. It was the kind of space where you just want to sit, sip slowly and enjoy the view. I would absolutely recommend Oakridge if you are looking for a winery that is not only scenic but also educational and memorable. It was definitely one of the highlights of my trip.

We had such an amazing time at Oakridge! We stopped in for a wine tasting on my birthday, and it truly couldn’t have been more perfect. The wines were great. Carrie guided us and she was fantastic; so friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the wines. She took the time to explain everything in such an engaging way and made me feel really welcome. I can’t wait to come back.

We did the Chardonnay masterclass at Oakridge with Carrie and absolutely loved it. She was brilliant — really knowledgeable but super easy to chat with. The range of Chardonnays was incredible, each one different and really well explained. The standout for us was the Aqueduct Block Henk Vineyard Chardonnay — just stunning. Oh and she looked after the designated driver really well too! Such a great experience and well worth doing if you’re visiting the Yarra Valley.

We had a fantastic wine tasting at Oakridge. We explored many different wines, all amazingly created yet distinctive in their own right depending on terroir or vintage. Carrie was our host and she did an amazing job, very knowledgeable and clear on explanations. She is a very lovely, welcoming host that made our tasting extra special. Can’t wait to return again and we will certainly have this winery on a regular delivery.

Beechworth Bakery Healesville is a must-visit destination for families and travelers. Established in 1984, this popular bakery chain offers an exciting array of freshly made sandwiches, wraps, rolls, cakes, pastries, and pies. It's also a great spot for all-day breakfast options and delicious coffee. The delightful atmosphere makes it perfect for the whole family to enjoy.
Randomly came in and we were surprised how big this place is! Plenty of seating. Lots of food to choose. We had pie and scone and they were all lovely. There’s self serve station which we thought really handy. The hot chocolate was not overly sweet and came in good size so we appreciated it. Definitely come back when we are around the area.

We were supposed to have dessert her but ended up having lunch as well. We had their toasties and foccaccias, and I was particularly blown away by the chicken avocado foccaccia. The coffee was good and we enjoyed the warm sofa in front of the faux fireplace. Wheelchair access and clean toilets mean that we will definitely go back. Besides this, we found parking easily and are planning to go back in the warm weather to enjoy their outdoor set-up, which was eye-catching. Being a popular stop over for many people going up and down the mountain, the bakery has a helpful information post for tourists who need to know more about the region. The staff could use some training on polite and prompt service.

Extremely busy and loud as all heck, sit outside for sure. We had the Beechworth "steak" pie (it's a mince pie, why you don't me like that) and the Broccoli pie (Camen Sandiego was unable to locate the Broccoli). Both pies were average. We also had the jelly slice (star of the show) and the vanilla slice (so sticky i thought it might come in handy for a quick fix on roofing). We had the ice coffee (it was fine) and a thick shake (made with.....soft serve?) Both were fine. The place is so busy the tables aren't being cleaned and cleared, and I get it.... buuuut.... yeah. All in all a totally average experience.

Awesome bakery with so many yummy baked goods! A few vegetarian options, which was great to see! I tried the collyflower pie, which was delicious! A great stop for a quick bite when around the Healesville area! May be quite busy if travelling during school holidays just a heads up!

My husband and I took our 1 year old daughter out to Beechworth bakery for lunch today and were beyond disgusted with the service. It look very busy and as we walked in seating was limited that would comfortably accomodate our pram. We saw a note on the table to scan and just order online rather than wait in the queue. So we thought it was easier to find a suitable seat and then place our order: It wasn’t very clear once we place our order how we were notified that the food would be ready. So we asked a passing staff member who said you should get a text message to the number you booked with but if you haven’t heard anything in 15 minutes just go up and ask. My husband went to the counter when he was pretty much abused by the manger/ ? Owner that was on. Stating she never received the order despite our proof of purchase and that we shouldn’t have used the online service. He asked why is it advertised on your tables if we shouldn’t use it. To which she replied they intentially put the expected wait times as 45 minutes to deter people from using the service. Despite ordering dine in coffee in a mug she also gave us small take away coffees and when my husband questioned it she said you can only order take away online… again showing her proof of what we actually ordered being a fine in coffee in a mug..and the QR code on the table literally saying dine-in or take away… Being locals we have been coming here since it opened and couldn’t be more disappointed with how we were treated, literally berated for using a service you advertised!

Very busy bakery and has a lot of items in store. Saturday was packed with people but were still able to get a seat inside. The pies were very good but better to sit in as they broke apart while eating! Nice place to visit but would travel there just for the bakery alone.

I like their food! The Danish pastries and carrot cake are simply delicious. My husband can’t get enough of the jam donut! I’m ok with it getting a bit crowded, especially during peak season—that's all part of the cozy café vibe, right? Plus, I enjoy the lovely country setting; spotting the birds and catching a glimpse of the creek at the back is nice.

Additionally, it features purpose-built facilities such as a conservatory, pavilion, amphitheater, and lakeside deck for hosting outdoor concerts, summer food and wine festivals, as well as other functions and events.
Barbecued quail and Confit Duck for the win! The Sous Vide Lamb Shoulder was also good, very tender! Our server Josel was the best! He was very accommodating, had extensive knowledge of the food and the different wines, and had a good overall wonderful customer service! Look for him when you go there. He is the friendliest and the most hard-working waiter. Can cover a lot of customers/tables swiftly and efficiently! Oh, they also have gin tasting aside from wine tasting!

On a recommendation we went for lunch at Isabella’s. We were greeted and treated like royalty by Josel(alias James Bond), his attention to detail and friendly approach made our experience all the more enjoyable. The meals were quite generous helpings and thoughtfully prepared. The choices on the menu were diverse.

The last stop in our wine tour finished with another good selection of wine for tasting. It's another well oiled commercial wine producer. They were understanding that this was our fourth and last stop, providing us with a long table and chairs to sit on while doing our wine tasting (the prior 3 others had us standing and tasting). Likely to avoid any of us being imbalanced and falling. 😂 Again, another good selection of wine but externally, nothing outside the building that's unique to enjoy.
Layar J — Google review
Visited in Nov 2025 Stopped by Rochford Wines Cellar Door as one of our stops during our winery tour in Yarra Valley. A total of 5 wines (2 whites and 3 reds) were part of the tasting. Don’t be misled by the picture I’ve added which shows a 14 wine list. Five wines are chosen from that long list as part of the tasting. The tasting experience was quite good and we ended up buying a bottle of one of the wines we tasted. Service was fine, and the person in charge of the tasting experience took his time in explaining the different wines which were part of the tasting. Overall, a good cellar door to visit.
Avijeet S — Google review
If you are coming for a day trip, wine tasting, social group, you should have a good time, it's got a lovely atmosphere. If you join a tour, your tour guide will be able to arrange a main course, chips and a glass of wine for $50, which is better value than ordering separately. The wine tasting venue is this beautiful underground facility and we ate slow cooked beef, duck and fish and entree is quail.
Janet T — Google review
This weekend, hubby and I booked a Yarra Valley tour to play tourists in our own city. We love this region—visit multiple times a year—and wanted to see it through the eyes of a first-timer. Unfortunately, our first stop was Rochford… and it was a letdown from the start. As a passionate wine lover who’s tasted across Australia, NZ, Europe, South Africa and beyond, I’ve never come across a wine tasting that felt this lifeless. The lady running our tasting clearly didn’t want to be there—zero enthusiasm, no passion, and visibly irritated when asked questions. It was a quick, clinical pour-and-go with barely any interaction apart from a rehashed line. What’s worse? We had to spend more time at their shop than at the tasting itself—which says a lot. Even then, the lady took 10 minutes to ring up my husband’s wine purchase and had to make calls to work out their system. The vibe was cold, the space was sterile, and the wines were underwhelming. It honestly made me so sad. You could tell no one in the Go West tour group enjoyed it. And it breaks my heart that this might be a tourist’s only taste of the Yarra Valley (as apart from the gin distillery this particular tour doesn’t visit any other wineries, wild isn’t it???), when this region has so much to offer in warmth, quality, and character. Rochford just didn’t show up.

3 members of my family and I went to the pizzeria on Saturday. It was dreadful weather but the atmosphere inside was great. We had a wine tasting and Chris who served us in the tasting was wonderful. He was so friendly and welcoming and very knowledgeable about the wines. We so much enjoyed the wines we tasted that we ended up buying a dozen wines with a great discount. The food was delicious as well and the service was amazing.

We came for the first time to Rochford and had a fantastic experience for our lunch! Confit Duck was super juicy, pasta well seasoned (come in satisfying portion too). Front of house staff, Jojo looks after us really well from start to finish!

Habituel Bakers and Coffee Roasters is a charming bakery cafe and coffee roasters located in the heart of Healesville. The modern building welcomes you with the delightful aroma of freshly ground coffee as soon as you enter. The friendly staff provides prompt service, and there is ample seating both indoors and outdoors. Visitors can enjoy excellent coffee and delectable pastries, including an outstanding ham and cheese croissant that has received high praise from patrons.
On a busy, Sunny Saturday, I had the opportunity to pop in - bit of a queue to order, maybe 15 mins, then another 15 minute wait for coffee. Still, the coffee was fantastic once it arrived, as was the breakfast muffin (very filling). I enjoyed the location and ambience. The breads looked sensational. Maybe go outside of peak times - definitely worth the visit.
IGuideU — Google review
A small cafe serving up some of the towns best coffee and baked goods. Quickly stopped by for a coffee and a white choc raspberry muffin before we went out for lunch. Both were very good, the muffin was fresh and moist. They do also have a small menu which is served takeaway. Tables available outside. ⭐️ 5/5
Stephanie R — Google review
Stopped at Habituel for a pit stop and recharge on the way through Healesville. It is in very modern building and you are welcomed by the beautiful smell of freshly ground coffee once you step in. The staff are friendly and the service is prompt. There is ample seating both indoors and outdoors for the customers and the place is very clean. Coffee was very good and the pastry was well worth the price I paid for. There was a lot of reading material (newspapers, New Yorker, National Geographic) for a very comfortable read while having my cuppa. I would definitely recommend Habituel for the coffee drinker.
Fun K — Google review
Coffee, ham and cheese croissant and blueberry danish was beautiful. I thought the price and quality was fair, however portion seems small (or perhaps shrunk). We decided to order a Reuben steak sandwich which was $16 and instantly regretted it. The sandwich was not worth the price point and I would not recommend ordering it. Save your buck and double up on the ham and cheese or danishes !!
Johnny L — Google review
Probably the best bakery I’ve encountered. Awesome raspberry and white chocolate muffins that are very moist and delicious. Their sourdough seeded loaf is wonderful as well as their fruit danishes and apple tart. The service was very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.
Brett K — Google review
Great bread. Habituel bakes some darn good bread and pastries! The pastries are flaky with many laminations. The danishes have fresh fruit and a nice baked in custard, and wash it down with their store roasted coffee. The toasties are good, with a decent amount of cheese and filling. I'd say the truffle one needs a little bit more truffle oil.
Andrew C — Google review
Pastries were tasty, focaccia was unfortunately pretty bland - entirely plain inside. Would definitely not grab coffee here again…
Alex L — Google review
Excellent pastries. The ham and cheese croissant could use a lot more cheese but the pastry itself was good. The coffee was alright, not the best. Probably the best looking cafe in healesville with great seating.

Watts River brewery is always such a great place to stop in at on the way back from out past the black spur. Post mtb ride beers at the brewery. Great space, great people. Very kid and dog friendly which great pizzas too.

Hands down one of the best brewery experiences we have EVER had. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the suggestions were terrific, the atmosphere was laid back. This is a VERY rare 10/10 experience.

10/10 Beer and even better service by the team at Watts Brewing. Do not miss visit to this brewery if you’re ever in Healsville! The tasting paddle is a must try (5 for $22).

This place was a fantastic start to our short weekend getaway! We enjoyed this brewery so much that we wanted to return a second night but we couldn’t get there before close. The pizza 🍕 is also very nice with the beer. 🍺

Let it be said, I’ve been to a lot of breweries. Watts River is unsurpassed. I walked into this courtyard full of kids playing and carrying on and I was like, “Well, this is different, but in a good way!” Truly a community establishment. I was likely the only tourist. Excellent beer, excellent pizza, and beyond excellent ambiance! And the prices are very fair! One word: SUPERB!
Reilly M — Google review
Welcomed by a friendly and cheerful crew who made us feel right at home. The setting is ideal, the vibe relaxed, like your spare living room you never knew you really needed until you got here. Had only a little time to kill, not enough to do justice to the surrounds, but we decided a brief sit was better than nothing. Endowed my 18yo son with his first ever introduction to "the paddle". A true Australian rite of passage. Solid selection of clean, characterful beers, with a fascinating (and delicious) aged brettanomyces version of the pale ale included. Definitely an easy place to recommend, for whenever you're in Healesville.

Amazing local Brewery. Fantastic core range and knowledgeable staff. If they have any left you should absolutely try the Belgian range. Can recommend. Also has space for kids to play.

Delicious beer and friendly team. We stopped by on the way back into Melbourne and it was great to find such good beer. They will take you through a taster explaining each beer and at the time we went the cost of the taster came off any purchase. In a gap between serving they were also happy to show around the brewery. Great start up, will definitely try to get back.

Badger Creek Blueberry Winery is a unique winery located in the picturesque Yarra Valley of Victoria. Since 1992, they have been producing wines made from 100% blueberries, offering visitors a distinctive tasting experience. In addition to their range of blueberry wines, visitors can also enjoy award-winning cider by St Ronans Cider at the cellar door.
Lovely cocktails and mocktail. Their cheesecake is also rather lovely. A pretty and quaint venue. A good first stop before getting to the other vineyards at Yarra valley.

I enjoyed a delightful lunch at this gem of a winery that I had not previously heard of right in the outskirts of Healesville (near Healesville sanctuary). Although they do not offer a large menu, the variation and creativity of their dishes make up for this. Do not be afraid to come and experience this venue for yourself. We tried 3 of their small plates and 2 desserts and all were so delicious that we will be urging all our friends and family to come and try this place for themselves. (Could not post pics of small plates as we had nearly finished them before I remembered to take a photo 😆)

We loved photographing and filming here and can't wait for the next opportunity we have to visit this stunning location. Highly recommend this winery!

Beautiful venue, lovely staff and delicious nibbles! We came in on a Sunday afternoon, no reso but got lucky to find a table and had the most lovely evening. It’s a smaller winery, but absolutely stunning, good music playing in the background, great cider and the best blueberry margarita! 10/10 would come back!

Lovely place. Very popular. They squeezed us in. Just Blueberry wines - no grape... Suggestion: Start with the tasting paddle.

Beautiful atmosphere and tasty blueberry desserts. Cool concept with using blueberries instead of grapes to make wine, definitely worth trying if you’ve never tried it before, but I wouldn’t go back particularly for their blueberry wines.
Nicole — Google review
This is a really cool blueberry winery in the Yarra valley which has a cellar door and tastings available 🫐 They make apple and pear cider too 🍏🍐 The sparkling blueberry wine is so good! But they make a range, including a Rosé style blueberry wine which is great and is served chilled and a fortified blueberry wine too Go have a look if you’re in the Yarra valley 🍷 😎

There could and should be more cashier's at counters, Aswell as it's quite disappointing that Coles has decided to shut the deli at 8pm considering shift workers and tradies alike sometimes so not get to Coles until around that time. Other than that their is a great majority of staff members that is nice to see whilst shopping and always helpful and happy to help when needed

Nestled in the heart of nature, Badger Weir Picnic Area offers a serene escape with its three main tracks that provide opportunities to spot wild lyrebirds. The tranquil setting along Badger Creek allows for picturesque views of the surrounding tree canopies and fern gullies. Visitors can enjoy rotundas, BBQs, picnic tables, and clean restroom facilities.
Beautiful, scenic, clearly-signed walk on well maintained paths from the picnic ground/parking area that can be completed as a loop. Access across the creek is via a number of solidly constructed bridges. The picnic grounds have tables in the open areas with gas BBQs, a rotunda and drinking fountain as well as relatively clean flushing toilets adjacent to the top part of the parking area. There's also the requisite information board that includes a map of the area. Less than 10 minutes drive from Healesville.
Louise B — Google review
Badger Weir Picnic Area is a little gem tucked away in the Yarra Ranges, just outside Healesville. If you’re after a peaceful spot to reconnect with nature, this place delivers. The moment you step out of the car, you’re surrounded by towering mountain ash trees, thick ferns, and the gentle sound of Badger Creek trickling through the forest. It feels like stepping into a fairytale rainforest. The picnic area itself is super well-maintained. There are plenty of tables and shelters scattered around, so even on busier days, you can usually find a good spot. Everything feels clean and cared for, with modern toilets and BBQ facilities nearby. It’s an ideal place for families, especially with kids who love running around open spaces and spotting colorful birds—rosellas and cockatoos are regular visitors. If you’re in the mood for a walk, the Lyrebird Trail is a beautiful loop through the forest. It’s only a couple of kilometers long but gives you a full experience of the lush bushland. The trail isn’t too hard, though it might be a little uneven in parts. Still, it’s manageable for most people and totally worth it for the scenery alone. One thing to keep in mind: no dogs allowed, and no bikes or camping either. It’s all about preserving the natural environment, which you really appreciate once you’re there. It’s quiet, fresh, and honestly a bit magical. Parking is easy, and the whole place feels safe and welcoming. It’s the kind of spot that makes you slow down, breathe deep, and feel grateful for the simple things. A perfect little day trip from Melbourne if you want to escape the noise and soak in the serenity. PS: all 3 batteries from public BBQ FACILITY WAS STOLEN same night 11th Apr 2025 what a shame !

A lovely place to visit. The kids had the most wonderful time playing in the river. It was very quiet so that was nice. Definitely could use some TLC but other than that a nice place to go and be in nature! Make sure to go on the bush walks and have a look at the weir!

Beautiful spot for picnic and spending a day. Badger weir has a small picnic area and has 3 walking tracks to badger weir from picnic area. All the tracks are easy walk of about 1.2-1.4 km long. One of the track is a bit steep. All the tracks are extremely beautiful but I loved the one via lyrebird! Would love to go there again and spend full day there!
Smriti J — Google review
Beautiful getaway. Love the bbq lunch by the river. Great place to hangout with friends and family. Plenty of enough places to play and enjoy. Free entry but you have to exit before 8 pm. Lovely nature walk to the weir. Bit muddy but little to worry if you go on a sunny day.
RR K — Google review
Great picnic area and 3 good different walks to the Wier. Well worth the drive.
Cornelius M — Google review
Such an incredible walk. The most beautiful place in Victoria. I come here often because I just can’t get enough of it. It is beautiful in the fog/light rain but be careful because it’s extremely slippery. Watch for snakes in the heat, and drive carefully because there is lots of wildlife. It is always quiet when I come here, and you can hear all the birds singing. The Lyrebird walk is easier but take the Slip track if you enjoy walking uphill.

Barrique Wine Store in Healesville is a must-visit for wine enthusiasts. While not a wine bar, it offers an impressive selection of local and international wines with the guidance of their expert team. Every Friday, they host free tasting sessions featuring renowned wine and spirit makers, often accompanied by local food vendors in the firelit courtyard. Visitors can also enjoy a cozy atmosphere with the option to pair their wines with cheese and dips while listening to music on vinyl.
Not many places would be keen to have two extremely talkative tourists want a wine tasting at 11am on a public holiday, but Nicola was up to the challenge! My wife and I had the nicest half hour trying some of Nicola's favourites and I only wish we had more time. It's such a cool venue and the local wines are unreal. Barrique is a great place to start your wine tastings by getting some excellent local advice of where to go and what to try. Can't wait to come back. Harry and Amy x

Love this place, it's one we recommend to anyone visiting the township and wanting to sample local wines of the Yarra Valley or wines from abroad. They stock a broad range to cater for drinkers or non-drinkers alike. Mike, Claire and their staff are knowledgeable, welcoming, and inclusive. Free wine tastings on a Friday are a bonus with tasty food on offer out the back at Frosty's food van. Cool vinyl tracks are often spinning to create the warm ambience to this place. The owners work hard to build supportive, collaborative relationships with other businesses in the community and are always approachable around hosting events whether it be a trivia night, DJ's spinning tracks or open gatherings out the back where people are welcome to join in. Oh yeah, and it's fur baby friendly out the back too.

Had a very enjoyable round, greens are in especially good condition and overall in good condition in spite of all the rain. Nice wide fairways and not too long. Lots of kangaroos and very friendly local players along the way.
Grant W — Google review
Played an early round today hoping to have a nice easy run. Green staff where very rude, I litrally waited twenty minutes on the first hole to take my second shot into the green. With a $69 dollar green fee, I would expect better awareness by greens staff, I learned a few holes later after waiting on another tee for maintanance staff that you need to yell four at them to move for you to play through 🤷 this might be etiquette but again not what I would expect for the price tag. After finishing my 18 holes I did enjoy my round but I am rather underwhelmed at the qaulity of the course. It is most definitely a true challenge, but I definitely felt it was made difficult for the sake of being difficult with the fairways being a bit sub par and a few greens fading due to under watering. That said it's a nice walk and the course has alot of potential but it is a bit short and need a bit more love to deserve the price tag it's charging. I would put this course at about level par with Gardner's Run if a bit harder due to bunkers placement.

A Beautifully Maintained and Scenic Challenge – A Memorable Round at RACV Healesville RACV Healesville offers a fantastic golfing experience set in a beautifully maintained course with a touch of class. The layout is thoughtfully designed, and the condition of the course is excellent, making each round enjoyable and rewarding. What really stands out is the challenging green contouring — subtle yet tricky slopes that demand precise reading and confident putting. It’s the kind of challenge that keeps you engaged from the first hole to the last. The back nine is especially scenic, with sweeping views of the surrounding landscape that add to the peaceful, countryside charm of Healesville. Whether you’re playing for competition or leisure, the combination of natural beauty and clever course design makes this a memorable destination for any golfer. A must-play in the Yarra Valley region — both for the quality of the course and the serene setting.
Feka W — Google review
For $70 I was expecting a top-tier golfing experience, something that matched the price and the promise of a full par 72 course. While the facilities were genuinely impressive (great clubhouse, well-maintained amenities), I came here to play golf, not just admire the surroundings. Unfortunately the course itself didn’t quite deliver. Several greens had recently been punched, making putting feel more like a game of pinball than precision. The layout was short and not particularly engaging, definitely not what you’d hope for at this price point. Pin placements on the day were bold. One hole had the pin just 1.5 meters from a bunker you couldn’t even see from the tee, with the green sloping directly into it. “Challenging,” perhaps, but mostly just aggravating. To be fair, I could’ve just been hangry, since I couldn’t justify spending any more money than I already had. All in all, great facilities and friendly staff, but the course condition and value for money left me underwhelmed. At $45–$50, I’d probably feel differently, but at $70, it’s a tough sell.
John B — Google review
We played at Racv Healesville on Australia Day having played on several cheaper courses in Sydney and Melbourne and found we paid more, $79 each, for less. The course was not maintained well, we waited on every hole and although a marshall came round he did not move the front players on at all or ask them to let us through. No golf etiquette, common practice in golf is for a 3 ball to let a 2 ball through especially as we kept meeting them on the tee box. Having paid that amount to play I was also shocked at seeing a person playing in jeans and a t-shirt!
Nicola P — Google review
Average fairway conditions and course layout. Slow pace of play.
Andrew — Google review
The course is well maintained and the live play with kangaroos nicking your balls ‘that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!’ Makes it a very unique course to play on. Why go to the zoo when you can play a round of golf!
Paul K — Google review
Interesting course some of the greens are challenging. Fees are reasonable and pro shop staff very helpful. Enjoyed both rounds

It has gained international recognition for its exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, showcasing the region's unique characteristics. The cellar door offers tastings of their regional Yarra Valley and single-vineyard wines. The newly renovated cellar door provides a sleek and cozy ambiance for visitors to enjoy casual tastings or explore the high-end restaurant.
It was a wonderful experience!!! All the wines tasted were very good... I chose this winery because of the good reputation its Pinot Noir has, and as a lover of this grape, I can tell you that Giant Steps Pinot Noir is DELICIOUS! All the hosts were super friendly, the place is beautiful and cozy.

We were visiting The Yarra from Sydney and Giant Steps was one of our must see wineries. We sat outside in the winter sun enjoying tastings of the beautiful Chardonnay, Rose, and Pinot’s all expertly described and served to us by the lovely Laura who was extremely knowledgeable and good fun too. She enhanced our experience with her enthusiasm and professionalism. We really enjoyed the new Circle of Fifths range. Highly recommended.

Thank you Laura and Cara for an amazing wine tasting experience last Saturday. My husband booked us a last minute wine tasting and we thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the history of Giant Steps and the different vineyards. The single vineyard wines as well as the new label circle of fifths were all excellent. Definitely a place not to be missed when visiting Healesville 🫶

We had a wonderful experience at Giant Steps! Laura took amazing care of us — she guided us through the different wines with great knowledge, explaining the winemaking process and the unique details of each one. Her warmth and enthusiasm made the tasting even more enjoyable. Thank you so much, Laura, for your kindness and professionalism — and congratulations on the award for the Sexton Chardonnay! Well deserved! 🍷

Good spot, really friendly staff. I’m not a huge fan of red wine so wasn’t the best for me, but otherwise would definitely recommend 🙂

Visited Giant Steps Winery for the first time for a wine tasting and were blown away by the standard of the wines. There was not a bad wine on their menu. Benji looked after us and his service was second to none. His knowledge of the wines was exceptional and he was able to answer all our questions. If you enjoy fine wine, you must stop by and do a tasting at Giant Steps. Look forward to returning soon to taste the new vintages and new releases. Thanks again Benji 😊

The Memo, a council-run cinema in Healesville, offers a great experience for moviegoers. It is usually very quiet, especially during off-peak times, which means you can often have the place to yourself or with small groups during peak hours. While they mainly screen older movies, they occasionally show current releases that are playing in other cinemas. However, there is no fresh popcorn available and the selection of drinks and lollies is limited.
Went and saw a show for the u3a, the 3 musketeers.. was absolutely fabulous, the staff were all so accommodating and friendly. Such a beautiful part of Healesville.

I played with my band here a couple of weeks ago. Excellent staff and the facilities were fantastic. Highly recommend if playing or going to see a show.

The show was good. Unlike many venues, the seating is comfortable. I don't recommend the "pit" for stand-up comedy ... you could become a part of the show 🤣

Great council run cinema. Very quiet usually get the place to yourself off peak and small groups during peak. Usually runs older movies but during peak you'll gather the odd movie that's current at other cinemas. No fresh popcorn though and drinks and lolly choices are limited. Service is great, ticket prices are cheap, food is expensive, place is always clean. 👌

Nature & Parks
Queens Park is a large and well-maintained public park in the inner Melbourne suburb of Moonee Ponds. It is popular for picnics and other outdoor activities, and has two playgrounds for children. At night, it is beautiful to see the bats flying around in the trees.
On my way home from work, I stopped by Queens Park for the first time the other day. The weather was great, perfect for a walk. I was also soothed by the beautiful nature and the cute birds. Highly recommended.

A very nice park in the middle of MOONEE PONDS, used to be very clean and maintained but now the lake water is stink and smells, council is not paying much attention. Anyway have a swimming pool, lawns to picnic on, a kiosk, ducks, and a playground. Good seating and plenty of shade. Very convenient location but finding parking will be difficult during busy times.
Jawad A — Google review
Queen’s Park is a true gem in the heart of Moonee Ponds. Whether you're looking for a peaceful walk, a family picnic, or a place for kids to play, this park has it all. The lush greenery, large shady trees, and well-maintained gardens make it a perfect escape from the city buzz. The lake is a lovely feature, attracting ducks and birds that kids love to watch. The playground is modern and well-equipped, and there's plenty of open space for sports or just lounging on the grass. The walking paths are ideal for both casual strolls and more active jogs.

Gorgeous park, especially in autumn this season. Lots of photo opportunities. Car park is limited and the surrounding streets are "permit only". The water lantern festival 2025 happened here and I can say there was a really a big capacity of 500 people easily.

a really great open and super breathtakingly taken care of abundance of fornae with a small Cafe right next to Lake and a wide array of wild bird life you can sit by the water all day absorbing the tranquility and duck families regularly stroll out of water waddling right past your feet over to nibble on some grass it's really one of a kind the local council has done a tremendous job keeping it so untouched by mankind. a local swimming pool(outdoors) is on the parks space, along with 2 playgrounds for kids to choose to play at a great paved walkways around the inner lake or outer side of park for different scenery and a wide variety of memorial plaques/pillars/wishing well/even oversized rock to read a whole different stories of a great many heroes and respected courageous individuals who sadly are not here anymore but their spirits forever engraved for anyone to admire. it really is a great open kid friendly or just to sit alone by the water and try block out all the current noise and chaos and get a little breathe back for ones self 🤣10/10

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Fernshaw Picnic Ground is a serene and picturesque spot nestled in the midst of lush greenery. The area offers approximately 6 scattered picnic tables, a gas barbecue, and an information shelter. Visitors can enjoy the tranquility of the European garden area and take leisurely walks through the surrounding bushland. While dogs are not permitted on the walks, there are plenty of shaded areas under the trees for picnicking. The site also features toilet facilities and informative boards for visitors to explore.
Fernshaw Picnic Area is like stepping into an arboretum—a living museum of trees! It's a haven for tree lovers, with a stunning variety of species that make you feel connected to nature's grand history. One of the highlights is seeing the majestic sequoia trees. They stand tall and proud, offering a glimpse into another world. There’s also some fantastic information about the mountain ash (*Eucalyptus regnans*), which adds depth to your visit. The signage talks about how this area was once home to some of the tallest trees in Victoria, including a mountain ash that reached incredible heights. It’s fascinating to learn that in the late 1800s, the tallest tree in Victoria was a mountain ash that stood about 132.6 meters tall—a true giant among giants! The picnic area itself is beautifully enhanced by the presence of pine trees. They light up the space with their vibrant green needles, providing a refreshing ambiance. It’s the perfect spot to relax, have a bite, and take in the surroundings. And let’s not forget the practical side—there’s a toilet on-site! It’s well-maintained and a welcome relief, especially on long drives through the region. Fernshaw Picnic Area is a wonderful blend of natural beauty and history, making it a must-visit for anyone traveling through the area.

Coronation Park, located behind Main St in Healesville, is a picturesque bushland area offering walking trails along the Watts River, picnic tables, BBQ facilities, and a rotunda. It's a popular spot for dog owners with plenty of grassy spaces for pets to roam. The park is also conveniently close to eateries and provides a great place to stretch your legs before driving up the mountain.
Every year in March a group of us head off bush, out to Taponga/Burnt Bridge/Horseshoe Bend (whichever campsite we get) for a week of camping. Some of us (most) are coming from the Mornington Peninsula and a couple from close to Melb CBD and this beautiful parkland in Healesville is a great place to stop, stretch the legs, have something to eat/drink and go to the toilet before we start driving the 'windies' up the mountain. Seems to be a popular stop-over point for many others too as every year we see plenty of other 'campers' with their caravans & camp trailers, stopping to for a "breather". This year I had the pleasure of watching this cutie - patootie Ibis having a big drink of water 😀 (after a very kind, thoughtful and considerate woman noticed s/he was thirsty and filled the bowl up for it).

Great multi-purpose municipal park. Lots of remnant native vegetation with few weeds and lots of repair plantings. Some lovely mature gums. Nice grassed areas. Well-constructed paths and bridges. Large off-lead dog area. Good picnic spots and pleasant walks. Large carpark popular for worker breaks. Lots to explore. Could spend hours. River views and access a little limited as slopes steep. Short, 5 minutes, walk to municipal toilet Recommend a visit.

Looks good. Railway start 2 stars dye to No Toilets. Sign says 100meters. Went for a 150 meter walk to across from the walk due to upset tummy likely from Cherry Tree Cafe breakfast this morning. Toilet not open Went to further servo and toilet out of order. Walked to pub, lucky its lunch time and they are open and easy access to toilet. If kids needed to go then you would need to drive to access a toilet. Strange place to put a tourist railway and large playground without a toilet available. 🤷‍♀️
