An evening at Donovans, St Kilda - where sophistication meets the sea. We began with cocktails to set the tone: the daring Scary Mary with chilli-infused Belvedere vodka, and the jewel-like Green Velvet. To start, silky chicken liver parfait, delicate beef tartare, and a rich, ocean-kissed seafood linguine. Each bite, a quiet indulgence. For mains, the luxurious spanner crab ravioli in lemon butter, a perfectly grilled T-bone, and a flawlessly cooked crispy skin barramundi — plates that balanced finesse with flavour. Desserts were nothing short of theatre: Parky's sticky date soufflé, light as air yet decadent, and the iconic Bombe Alaska for two, an elegant finale to a remarkable meal. Dining at Donovans is not simply a meal... it is culinary artistry by the bay.

Fantastic family lunch today with a view of the beach. Five out of five all round. Must try: Bomb Alaska (well generous size for three to share), mixed leaves salad (amazing vinaigrette…) but all dishes we had were great. Great service too. We arrived early for our sitting but they welcomed us. Waiter very attentive and thoughtful.

What can I say?! Amazing’ Not only the food and environment, all the people are lovely here and make me feel home. I super love Donovan’s and this place will be my regular celebration or important date only option. Especially thank you for the manager’Lol!! He’s super handsome guy and share happy with us!!

An outstanding evening. Amazing, attentive service and absolutely fabulous food! And the most delicious fresh baked bread on the table with butter and a fava bean puree - could have made a meal of just that! Highly recommend, and the ocean views over the bay area incredible!

We took 2 friends to Donovan’s for an outstanding meal. Location is excellent on St Kilda foreshore. Anna-Claire served us along with other staff. Service is excellent. We’ve been many times to Donovan’s and they never disappoint. Thankyou. Great place!

We had lunch there today and it was one of the best food, service and venue I’ve ever been to. Our waiter Oliver was very friendly and accommodating, personable and attentive to our booking. The food was timed very well from entrees to mains and then desserts. My dietaries were not even a hassle and lots of variety and options for me. Thank you, I will definitely go there again based on my first impression. Well done!😊

Loved this restaurant! Came here for a weekday lunch and sat downstairs with a beautiful view of the water, so peaceful and picturesque.✨ Even though it was quiet, the atmosphere still felt warm and inviting. The waitstaff were lovely and really knowledgeable about the menu. Our starters were great, such an unexpected combination of flavours that somehow worked perfectly together. I also really enjoyed my pasta as the main (wish I remembered the names of the dishes.😅) I'll definitely be back to try their dinner menu!

What a great place to hang out. The ocean view & the ambience was what drew me in the first place, but I left stunned with the food. The starters were brilliant. The tuna belly & the octopus tops the best. The complimentary bread & butter was AMAZING! So fresh & tasty. Highly recommend for special occasion. Expect to pay about $150-200 per head but it's worth it.

From the very first moment we arrived at the restaurant for lunch, no one greeted us. The host at the entrance was busy with a tablet or computer, and only after finishing his task did he look up and say hello. We were then seated, but no food menu was offered – only a drinks menu. We mentioned that we don’t drink alcohol and would only have water, but even after that no one came back to give us a food menu. While waiting, my friend and I started taking a few photos. A staff member came over and, although saying they didn’t mind, spoke in a rather unfriendly/toxic tone, suggesting that our photos might disturb other guests, even though we were very quiet and respectful. Later, when we finally managed to order food, appetisers were brought without bread. After quite a long wait, bread eventually arrived, but by that time the scallops I had ordered and didn’t eat were taken away from the table without me even noticing. I hadn’t had the chance to eat them. What upset me most was that nobody asked if it was okay to clear them, despite the fact that I hadn’t touched them. It is a common sense to make sure that customers really want them to be taken, or they should have asked why we didn’t eat them. Only afterwards, when I was looking back at the photos from our lunch, did I realise that I never actually got to try my scallops. I had been waiting for the bread, which arrived too late, and by then the scallops were already gone. When it came time to pay, my friend and I wanted to split the bill. While we were still figuring out how, the waiter tried to run away. When I told him I was ready to pay, he replied that he would come back later and we had to point out again that we are actually paying now and ask him take our payment. The whole process felt rushed, but food and menu delivery was slow. Overall, I left feeling very disappointed. The service showed a lack of respect and attention, and what should have been an enjoyable lunch was overshadowed by careless treatment.

Ended up for a late afternoon lunch on a busy Sunday. Besides a first reservation related misunderstanding, the staff was lovely and very attentive. The food was overall good although a little overpriced. I enjoyed especially the octopus chorizo screwers, nice and spicy, and the fluffy focaccia! Atmosphere in the indoor area was pleasant too. Will probably go back to try some more of their meals options.

We visited for a wednesday lunch which wasn’t in rush hours. The ambiance was nice and chill. Both our entrees tuna and beef tartare were ok but missing a little wow factor to it. However our mains were absolutely delicious and were packed with complex flavor profiles. Side dishes were well prepared as well. They don’t have a mocktail list but instead all the cocktails can be done without alcohol for non-alcoholic guests We didn’t drink much and our bill was around 200/person. So if you’re drinking, expect your spending around 250+/ person

Good quality ingredients but boring recipes. Kumquat jam is overpowering and masked the taste of tuna. Octopus was a bit dry and overcooked. Salted duck egg shaving was tasteless…The Asian influence on the food wasn’t really working🙈 Service was also not welcoming. Maybe it’ll be better if you’re rich white baby boomer ordering French wine🫤

Just had an awesome night. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was stunning - especially with our window seat offering a gorgeous night view that just set the mood perfectly. Our waiter was an absolute gem - super attentive and genuinely passionate. He nailed it with the mocktail suggestions and pointed me to the dessert of the night… both were absolute winners! The food was amazing. Started with their daily oysters, followed by their spanner crab, which is definitely the highlight of the night!! So delicious! We then had tuna belly and their beef tartare which are just as enjoyable and satisfying. Our mains were their sirloin and lamb - both cooked to perfection and packed with flavors. We then had their stokey date pudding and the recommended sponge with white chocolate ganache and whisky caramel, which is just heavenly! Happy to recommend this place and will be back again!

We dined at Cafe Di Stasio this evening for my husband’s birthday. Such faultless food and service, with an understated elegance. The service was exemplary, the food absolutely exquisite. After having visited Melbourne several times over the years, this was truly an exceptional dining experience.

We celebrated you anniversary at Cafe Di Stasio in St Kilda and it was brilliant. Staff were fantastic, ambiance was perfect and the food was amazing! Can't wait to go back and try more from the menu!

We went for a special occasion and had no trouble making a booking using the online system. The restaurant is quite intimate, very dark inside with only small windows and no view of the street at all. Really we could have been anywhere. The menu is authentic Italian and everything we ordered was fabulous! The angel hair pasta on the specials menu had a mushroom ragout sauce and was to die for. We ordered baked oysters, plus the slow cooked lamb and the beef - which was served rare, sliced and truly melted in my mouth. The roasted veggies were also delicious. We shared two desserts and can recommend the tiramisu. It was quite cosy seating wise and with so many hard surfaces (concrete walls and floring) it's a very noisy space. I could barely hear our conversation when the restaurant was full. Nevertheless I would still say it was a romantic environment. Our lunch for two without excessive drinks came to $350 however they do offer a set menu with two courses and a glass of wine for around $39pp. Great place for a special occasion or a truly authentic Italian fine dining experience.

Remains one of the best restaurants in Melbourne after all these years. Yes, the food is fabulous, but for once, genuinely, the waiting staff make the key difference. Professional and knowledgeable, ask them to help with food and the wine list, you really won't be sorry.

PRICES INCONGRUENT WITH QUALITY AND SERVICE Cafe Di Stasio has the makings of a good restaurant but falls down on both service and quality. We dropped in for lunch on a weekend - set menu of either 3 or 5 courses. We opted for the 3 course - a scallop entree, pasta or chicken main and a slice of tiramisu. $230 all up with water is way over the top for what you get. The waiter was efficient but in that cool, stuffy way that doesn't gel with the Fitzroy al fresco dining vibe (we sat outside). People with mobility issues will struggle if they need to use the bathroom as it is located up a set of narrow stairs. the entrance has a small step to negotiate but otherwise the dining room is all on one level. Al fresco is an obvious option in beachside St Kilda but the outdoor tables feel very exposed to the passing parade on busy Fitzroy Street so I'd recommend indoor dining. As a lunch destination I think you would be better trying one of the numerous restaurants actually on the foreshore - cheaper and more menu options. If you are after a serious evening dining experience its probably an OK option. Street parking is fairly fierce but the tram line runs right past the door.

Amazing Italian food done right. No fuss, just the traditional way. Probably the closest you can get to Italy now due to Covid travel restrictions! However, this place is not your everyday eatery. The price is a bit steep, so it's definitely a place to go to for a special occasion. Not to mention, service was also great.

I have eaten here several times and they never disappoint! The food is consistently great, the service and staff are so lovely, and the atmosphere is so cosy and welcoming. My highlight is Tommy's Margurita (non-alcoholic) and the gluten free pasta. I had the pavlova for the first time and it was to die for. DO NOT HESITATE TO BOOK FOR ANT OCCASION!

Went there today, had the gnocchi and snapper fillet. Desert was pavlova and cheese selection. Magnificent. . Super quick service despite a busy lunch. Great and friendly service. A definite must do.

Nothing fancy Mexican food. Delicious hand made salsas for sure. The tacos are 5” and seem a bit expensive for the creativity involved: I sure appreciated alternate vegetarian fillings, that’s a nice touch. Good solid place, interesting decor, easy to get into for this particular Saturday lunch. A block from the boardwalk.

The food didn't blow me away but sufficed. We ordered a couple of tacos and some ceviche. The tacos were a bit cold, but the flavours were okay. We didnt enjoy the barbacoa lamb variant (very dry). But the carne asada and scallop was decent. The ceviche was a real let down for its price, the portion was quite small. The whole dish was also bitter which was quite unpleasant and the actual deal breaker for me. Also the tables near us were extremely rowdy and loud, so we left early. The waitress was very lovely, and attentive, the only good part of our experience.

I visited Radio Mexico for dinner on Friday under the recommendation from a couple of different friends and it did not disappoint! There are a few different dining spaces but I was seated in the main room and on a table which was great as a solo diner as I expected to be seated on the counter so positive already! I ordered the chuleta de cordera which was a lamb cutlet, the BBQ pork belly taco de carne and the papa's and chorizo quesadilla along with the pineapple Tommy's marg. Everyone was delicious and so flavoursome! My favourite was the quesadill and I could've eaten so many more of then because they were so morish! Service from the staff were lovely, they were all friendly. The restaurant was busy and naturally noisy but with a good vibe. There were a mix of couples, group of friends and even families. I will definitely be a return customer!!!

If you are visiting this Restaurant in the middle ( or either side) of Melbourne’s Cold Winter season; it’s great to know that you can sit inside or outside with the option of complimentary blankets to wrap around you, which were great whilst sitting outside under cover this time. After noticing some others sitting outside with blankets & asking about them, I was told to go & get them myself. Noticing an amazing choice of ‘Chilli Hot Chocolate’ $10.00, I imagined the chilli warming up my throat with the dark chocolate at the same time, gliding down my throat… perfect in Winter! Notice: You have no choice of Milk- only Animal F/C Milk: No Soy/Almond or Oat Milk offered. Upon receiving the Chilli Dark Chocolate hot drink, I was really disappointed that there was ‘No Chilli’ flavour at all…. even as stated re the ‘sprinkle on top of chilli’. It would have been ideal to have the chilli infused through the milk & dark chocolate- for a slight ‘kick of warmth’. Just no Chilli flavour at all. Therefore, I would say that they need to improve their ‘Recipe’. I mentioned to a staff member, that I could not taste any Chilli,… he didn’t offer any solutions & didn’t care. After this, I devoured the ‘Taco-No-Taco’ $25.00 -with pulled Lamb. It was a small serving, however, quality ingredients & for once ‘no Rice’ at all, which is great if you are cutting down on ‘Carbs’. The lamb in the ‘Taco-No-Taco’ was only ‘just warm’- it needed to be served hotter. Overall, a cute place to eat Mexican, with a warm fire if you can get a booking inside. I will return in future, but not having a ‘Soy Milk’ option will now prevent me from ordering the Hot Chocolate. As I don’t drink Coffee, I’m not sure ‘what other hot drink’ I would be able to order re non alcoholic. Asked about ‘Mulled Red Wine’ but they don’t have any. Enjoy this Restaurant , if you’re lucky to find a park around St.Kilda- either paid or unpaid parking. Allow some ‘extra time’ for this. Toilets need ‘Updating’ & cleaning a bit more often.

Food was great and so were the cocktails. Yet atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Unfortunately, we sat at the bar. Where our cocktail mixologist continually flicked his drinks while creating magic all over me. I left the (Restaurant) with stains all over my pants. Accidental splashing is never something I would complain about. However, he knew he splashed me the first time and he did it at least 10 more times. not happy Jan! Absolutely fantastic. One of the best meals I've had in a long time. We had shredded pork, carne asada and scallop tacos. All nuanced with flavours signing. Cocktails delish, and service on point and friendly and obviously a happy team. Vnt recommend enough.

Absolutely love the Sunroom is the Espy. We held an event for Melbourne Working Holiday Girls and Dakota was so attentive. He was great at the bar and looked after us. Thank you so much for such an amazing evening!

Came here with friends for lunchtime mid week drinks and this place has such a vibe. The history within the place seems to sing out to you and with all the different bars throughout the establishment its like you're in many places in one. And the bathrooms are something straight out of a Harry Potter movie. Great selection of drinks and good prices. Would definitely recommend for day drinks, and look forward to coming back to experience the food menu sometime too.

If I could rate the service a 10 I would. The front of house, Julie, was amazing. We sat near the door and the smile and kindness and zest she showed to every customer was heartwarming. Thank you for caring for us and our food experience!

Waited 40 minutes for my meal. One entree was stone cold. The other was luke warm. The pizza was also luke warm. Obviously sat on the pass for too long & staff didn't deliver. A big function was on & there was not enough staff to cover the venue. A long queue at the bar & staff at the bar appeared to be unfamiliar with working at that bar. Place was a mess with tables uncleared & no cutlery etc. Management were good when made aware of the issues & refunded our meal but the promised free drink never arrived. We come to the espy frequently & it has always been good but tonight was a big let down. Hopefully better next time we visit .

Chin Chin never disappoints! The flavours are bold, fresh, and full of that perfect Thai fusion twist. Every dish we tried was packed with flavour, and you can really tell how much attention goes into balancing spice, texture, and presentation. The vibe here is always buzzing, with a great atmosphere that makes dining feel fun and vibrant. The service was attentive and friendly despite how busy it gets, which really adds to the experience. Chin Chin lived up to its reputation! Food was amazing. Casual South East Asia cuisine, full of flavour. We enjoyed lunch: Rendang Beef Curry (cumin, coriander and toasted coconut- served with rice) and Roasted Pork Belly ( green chilli relish, Thai basil and lemon). Both meals were melt in your mouth. Beautifully cooked and presented. Service was friendly and attentive. Venue is quirky, comfortable and ideally located in Flinders Lane Melbourne. Would we return? Most definitely 😊

Been about 8 years since I came to Chin Chin and this place has never disappointed. I had the swordfish sashimi and it was absolutely fantastic. The sauce was the kicker with a mix of Thai spicyness and sour flavour and coupled with the freshness of the swordfish, it was absolutely divine! I also had the twice-cooked bbq lamb and it was unique! The lamb was soft, succulent and flavourful but I felt that it lacked a bit of punch. The chickpea and eggplant dip made up for it, combining this into a great dish. Now, the rock-hard old fashioned cocktail was the highlight for me. Combining whisky, cognac and maple is an absolute delicious idea! If you're looking for a great place to unwind and have a great meal, definitely head to Chin Chin!

We arrived for our lunch reservation early so went downstairs to the cocktail bar while we waited, and we are so glad we did. It had a totally different atmosphere and feel to the vibrant upstairs dining area. So we asked to be seated at the there for our booking. It's more intimate and the vibe was really good. Great music and easy to chat. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was outstanding. We did the Chef's Banquet which was eight share dishes. It was an explosion of flavours and by the end of it we were blown away. If you're in Melbourne, do yourself a favour and drop in to Chin Chin. Be sure to book and I would recommend asking to be seated at the cocktail bar downstairs. Amazing.

Sat outside and definitely the right choice because it seemed a bit too loud inside for any conversation. The service was quick and the waiters were very attentive. The food was delicious (I am Thai)! Initially I expected an Asian fusion but the menu is predominantly Thai only, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! Ordered the Padseew and fish with egg fried rice.

It was my first time visiting Chin Chin and it did not disappoint! We made a group booking for a birthday and were so impressed by all of the staff who interacted with us. The food was absolutely incredible. Every dish was bursting with flavour, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. We especially loved how fresh and vibrant everything tasted. When we weren’t sure what to order, our waitress gave us fantastic recommendations that turned out to be spot on. Everyone was so friendly and attentive, making the celebration feel extra special. My partner and I had dinner at Vue de Monde to celebrate our 5th anniversary, and the entire experience was absolutely exceptional from start to finish. It was clear that the team is passionate about every single detail. The food was extraordinary. Each course was a work of art, showcasing innovative combinations and visually stunning presentations that truly highlighted the quality of the ingredients. But what made the evening truly unforgettable was the personal and attentive service. The staff made our celebration feel incredibly special by presenting us with a personalized card signed by the team to commemorate our anniversary. A major highlight was the post-meal tour of their kitchen, where a staff member graciously showed us their operations and answered our questions. It was a fascinating look behind the scenes and a perfect end to the meal. It was a experience made memorable by a team that genuinely cares. Highly recommended for any special occasion.

Highly recommend for any special occasions. The experience starts from the moment you enter the foyer at street level where you are greeted and it continues as you take the lift to the 55th floor. The views are spectacular looking out to Melbourne high above the city at sunset. The wait staff were truly amazing and really did everything to break the mold of robot waiters,they added their own personal touch which was well received. The dining area was spacious and left the experience very intiment. The food was a absolute culinary masterpiece. The flavors and the textures and unique paintings of some foods left an orgasmic explosion in your mouth. We celebrated our 40th birthdays at Vue we made the most perfect choice of restaurants for this momentous occasion. The chefs tour of the kitchen added a whole new element to the experience, With Wealth of knowledge and overall experience every section of the kitchen was explaon in great detail by the Sous Chef who was a very funny yet very professional man. We enjoyed a photo with the chefs and the topped out the experience for us it was beautiful. After this we returned to our table to find beautiful personalized birthday cards signed by the staff. It was truly a night and experience that we will remember forever and pass on the message to as many people as possible. Highly recommended

We celebrated my birthday at Vue de Monde (2 Oct 2025), and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. The team (especially Silvia, Barbara, Mia, and Neil) were outstanding, attentive, intuitive, and genuinely kind. They struck the perfect balance between engagement and giving us space, making the evening feel effortless. From the lobby welcome to our farewell, every interaction was thoughtful and polished. They handled complex allergy requirements with remarkable care, never once making us feel like an inconvenience. Each of the 11 or so courses were perfectly portioned and timed. We had to decline the cheese course as we were so full! Every dish flowed into the next with thoughtful precision, each complementing the previous and what was to come. My highlights included; the garlic and leek tart, wagyu and damper, and the ice cream sandwich. The Million Dollar Baby cocktail was a heavenly must from Lui Bar. This paired with the views made the evening even more memorable. At the end, they presented a handwritten birthday card, which was a beautiful personal touch. It’s those small gestures, paired with flawless service and exceptional food, that make the Vue de Monde team truly world class. We are so grateful to the team for making the night unforgettable, and we will definitely be back.

One of the best restaurants if not the best restaurant in the Southern Hemisphere. From the time we got there till the time I left, the entire experience was amazing. The somm team, the wait staff were just exceptional. Explaining every single dish, element of the restaurant and the the inspiration behind. A special shout out to Raj, for being the absolutely lovely host and to the lovely team Barbie, Nicole, Danny, Ben, PJ, Cody, Maite and Fergus and everyone. (I couldn’t remember everyone’s names). The service, the atmosphere and the food were nothing short of exceptional. It was an absolute pleasure to visit this place and I can’t stress enough to visit it again! Much Love!

On Cloud Nine Dining at Vue de monde on the 55th floor of the Rialto in Melbourne is so much more than having "lunch" or "dinner"; you do not go there just to eat. You go to have a culinary experience unlike any other in Australia. Many celebrate anniversaries, birthdays and other special events there: indeed, you go there to celebrate life. While there are many fancy places to dine in Melbourne, what stands out here is the fusion of local ingredients, many unique to our land, locally-sourced produce, and boutique, artisan delicacies. There are a few other restaurants that feature local ingredients but what is unique about Vue de monde is the way these are combined in novel and often deceptively simple ways, and the whole is always greater than the sum of its constituent parts. There are so many highlights of my experience at Vue de monde; indeed, the smoked eel was a standout; a great introduction to what was to come. The sea snail on toast followed, dramatic in its presentation. The Sydney rock oyster came next, and paired particularly well with the Larmandier-Bernier Longitude Blanc de Blancs NV. The macadamia cream and caviar was interesting, if not a little too rich for my palate. But what came after - the marron - was absolutely delicious; the finger lime giving a subtle tangy twist. A much welcome mid-meal palate cleanser followed, in the form of a cucumber and sorrel sorbet. This helped to counter the richness of the macadamia and prepare the palate for the main course. Before the red meats was an interesting pea and lamb sweetbread concoction. Then came the red kangaroo with mushroom broth. The meat was topped with green ants, giving it a zesty, tangy note. The highlight of the meal, for many, would have been the Blackmore Wagyu with Koo Wee Rup asparagus. For me, there were already so many highlights this was just one of them. While I loved it a lot, I would have preferred the steak chargrilled or exposed to charcoal the way the damper was lightly toasted on a hibachi. Speaking of the Heritage wheat damper that accompanied the steak: that humble Australian bread toasted over hot coals was possibly the best I have ever had. Toasty damper and cultured butter: perfection in simplicity. The mains were followed by a selection of Australian cheeses, of which the blue cheese was sublime. Then came the sweets: the caramelised white chocolate and olive oil ice cream topped with saltbush was perhaps one of the most fascinating desserts I have ever had; its sweet-savoury interplay of flavours and smooth-crunchy texture disguised within a seemingly simple presentation. If you were not already fully satiated by then, you certainly would be after the chocolate soufflé with billy tea ice cream - a Vue de monde classic for a quarter of a century. It looked quite daunting but was in fact really light and fluffy. The meal concluded with a wattleseed madeleine and chocolate mousse lamington filled with raspberry jelly. By the time I was finished, almost 3 hours had passed, and I felt like I was - high up on the 55th floor of the Rialto - literally on cloud nine. *** Upon request, a printout of the menu signed by the Vue de monde staff was presented to me, and a pdf version was emailed afterwards, which also very thoughtfully included the wines I ordered by the glass paired with the various courses. Special mention needs to be made of the 2015 Lethbridge 'Allegra': a seriously stunning Chardonnay from Geelong.

Celebrated a milestone birthday at Vue de Monde. Exceptional experience from start to finish all of the food was balanced, creative and showcased modern Australian cuisine and native Australian ingredients. The kitchen, wait staff and restaurant presentation exuded fine dining excellence. A special shout out to our sommelier Neil who helped us select wines exactly to our palette and matched beautifully with our meal.

The 'Taste of Vue' experience last Sunday was absolutely amazing. We enjoyed six courses (we opted for the cheese as well) of exquisite food, each beautifully prepared and presented. We also opted for the paired wines which was also the perfect complement to the food. The service was impeccable with each staff member being extremely attentive, helpful and friendly, and the tour of the open kitchen to meet and speak with the chef and his team was a highlight. Every member of the team was clearly very proud of the dining experince they created at Vue de Monde - they have every right to be proud , it was an outstanding lunch Thank you!

Although wasn’t intended to visit as my son just needed to go to the toilets but the manager was very nice and kind so we stayed for lunch after knowing it’s an Asian fusion restaurant. The dishes were amazing. Very well plated and cooked. We had a pleasant time.

Top 5 restaurant globally for me. They have a branch in Brisbane, but nothing beats the Melbourne kitchen. Absolutely a delight each time dining here. Modern Australian with a hints Asian flavours. Spoiling my tastebuds every time I visit. This should be an Australian institution. Go for cappacio, the duck baos, lobster roll and the fish (we had the flounder) damn!!!!! All sooo good. Died and gone to good heaven. I hate the crew for making me miss their food this much. Will be flying back sooon!!!

This is my second time at this restaurant, and the food is still just as good. We ordered the lobster burgers and sticky rice cakes again, like last time, and also tried some new dishes. I highly recommend the roast pork—it’s perfectly cooked, soft, juicy, and full of flavor. The dumplings, on the other hand, were a bit too plain and not very impressive. The flounder was an interesting surprise for me. It came with a type of Japanese kombu I hadn’t tried before—it looked grey, turned a little slimy when eaten, and had a very strong taste. Personally, I enjoyed it, but I can see how it might not be

***** Supernormal: My Go-To for a Fantastic Night Out! Supernormal is, quite simply, my favorite spot in the city. After five visits, it remains consistently excellent. Everything, from the moment you walk in, is top-notch. The food is always the star, and I can never go past the lamb, it's always incredible, perfectly cooked, and a dish I look forward to every single time. And let's not forget that amazing little complimentary touch: the soy-roasted pumpkin seeds they bring out at the beginning are addictive! Beyond the food, the ambience is buzzing yet comfortable, the service is always great (attentive but never intrusive), and they truly nail the drinks. Their cocktails are inventive and delicious, and the wine selection is broad and thoughtful. Supernormal delivers a fantastic experience across the board. If you're looking for an unforgettable meal and a great time, this is the place. I can't wait for my sixth visit!

My colleague and I had lunch on Saturday, September 27th. We thought it was a very pleasant venue to get together. The menu is somewhat limited, but we didn't worry about it. The quality was great. We had double portions of the Lobster roll ( 2 each), the Duck leg, and the Scallops. Prepare to pay premium prices. We were seated at the counter which isn't convenient for personal conversations. ( hence 4 stars). The staff were very accommodating ( The manager (?) in the black suit and glasses was a typical and a professional host. Compliments to the Sommelier. Delightful wine list and the Medhurst Chardonnay 2024 ( Yarra Valley) was such a great accompaniment with the lobster rolls.

My wife loved Supernormal and we visit each time we are in the vicinity. We loved their XinJiang ribs and dishes but this time we did not have an enjoyable time. We sat at the cramped counter and there was none of the ribs as it was only for a short time. Among other dishes ordered, we also ordered from “Dumpling and friends” menu, the prawn toast and wagyu beef bun at $12 each. Although the price was reasonable, the size of the prawn toast and wagyu beef were too small. The prawn toast was just a bit bigger than 50 cents coin. They could have included another one and I would not have complained or write this review. The wagyu beef bun was nothing special. It was not in keeping with SuperNormal excellence. If you are dining there after reading this, don’t order the “dumpling & friends”. However, we did like the Sichuan chicken and flounder. I wish they had more sense than to put out such an “ordinary” dumpling & friends menu.

a supernormal dining experience at Melbourne's hottest spot @supernormal we started with the Korean Rice Cakes with sesame and sweet chilli $12, the perfect combo of soft and sticky with a crisp outer shell. Prawn Toast $12 was a savoury bomb with thick, generous pieces of prawn wrapped in a shell of crunchy sesame toast. The Shark Bay Scallop roasted in kelp butter $14 so rich and delicious, couldn't get enough of that sauce in shell goodness. For shared mains, we got the Short Rib Bun with aged vinegar & fermented chilli $15, stuffed with protein and with a melt in your mouth tenderness. The chilli was a nice kick of freshness to cut through the heaviness. We also got the Duck Bao with twice cooked duck leg, black vinegar & plum sauce which was unfortunately a bit of a letdown as the sauces were quite watered down. The duck was cooked well but it was a bit bland so I wouldn't order this dish again. everything was great except the duck so it was a shame to end on that note, but I would highly recommend ordering all their snacks and entrees!!

My family and I were in Melbourne for a week and there were no reservations but we were lucky enough to nab a table as a walk in and we were not disappointed. Tipo00 lives up to the hype. We had a great waitress from NZ. The food oh the food. It was faultless. It was delicious. The flavours were incredible. I love this place. The chef's really know what they are doing and that reflects in the dishes. The produce they used was excellent. For such a small kitchen the dishes are superb. This place deserves the excellent reputation it has. Thank you Tipo00. You more than hit the spot x

I love this place for its consistency, always elite service and exceptionally high standards for food. I enjoy trying new restaurants, but I just know I’ll have a great meal every time I go to Tipo 00. It’s a smaller restaurant, so I don’t bring my kids here as the tables are quite close together, but that actually adds to the cosy, intimate atmosphere. The squid ink pasta is divine, and the octopus was perfectly cooked. The dessert was decadent without being too rich, the perfect end to a meal. Their Negroni is always spot on, and the staff never disappoint. It’s super easy to get to in the CBD, great if you’re visiting Melbourne and staying nearby. For locals, street parking can be tricky, so I’d recommend using Melbourne Central or another nearby parking garage and walking down. I’ve also had a ceviche here (I think it was kingfish?) that was wonderful. Highly recommend this spot, a true Melbourne gem!

Tipo 00, aptly named after the finely milled flour at the heart of great pasta, continues to prove why it’s one of Melbourne’s most beloved dining experiences. We started with freshly shucked oysters with shallot vinegar and the king prawns with yellow tomato puttanesca and pickled shallot — both beautifully balanced and full of flavour. But the veal carpaccio with shimeji mushroom and parmesan was the undeniable standout — delicate, refined, and utterly delicious. For mains, we shared a selection of pasta dishes (each one showcasing perfect texture and depth) and the Wagyu rump cap with heirloom carrot and karkalla, accompanied by a crisp cos, radicchio, honey and persimmon salad. Every dish was executed with precision and flair. Dessert was the perfect finale — the pannacotta with bay leaf, pear and almond was delicate and fragrant, while the crespella with vanilla, rhubarb and fennel pollen was truly exceptional — inventive, comforting, and utterly delicious. Service was brilliant — warm, attentive, and effortless — and the atmosphere was buzzing without being overwhelming. Tipo 00 remains a wonderful staple in Melbourne’s dynamic food scene — refined yet approachable, and always a joy to return to.

Tipo 00 had been on my list for quite some time, and with how busy it gets, booking in advance is definitely required. It’s known as a true institution of Italian dining in Melbourne, and overall, it lived up to its reputation. We ordered five dishes plus the complimentary focaccia. Complimentary Focaccia (4.5/5) – I didn’t expect much since it was complimentary, but it was fantastic. Served warm, with a pesto and cheese combination that worked beautifully together. Simple but so well done; I’ll definitely be recreating that at home. Tuna Crudo (1/5) – This was on the specials menu, and we decided to try it out. The price wasn’t mentioned, but it turned out to be around $60 (if I remember correctly) for six small pieces, roughly $10 each. The dish itself was very average, nothing out of the ordinary, and definitely not worth the price. Felt like a bit of a rort, to be honest. Grilled Ox Tongue (3.5/5) – As a big fan of ox tongue, I had to try it. Unfortunately, it was just okay. The thinly folded slices lacked that chewy texture I enjoy, and the sauce was a little overpowering, masking the natural beef flavour. Linguine with Moreton Bay Bug (4/5) – The linguine was spot on; perfect texture and bite. The sauce was rich and full of flavour, though I would’ve preferred the bug served in its shell for presentation and juiciness. Some pieces were a little dry from being mixed into the pasta, but still very tasty overall. Pappardelle with Braised Duck (4.5/5) – The standout of the night. The pasta was beautifully al dente and clung perfectly to the sauce. The duck was tender, and the porcini added great depth of flavour. Tipomisu (3.5/5) – Tipo’s version of tiramisu was enjoyable but overly sweet. The chocolate overpowered the coffee flavour, and I think a bit more mascarpone would have balanced it better. Overall, Tipo 00 delivered on quality and craftsmanship with a few standout dishes, but also a few misses. Despite the disappointing crudo, I’d still come back for their pastas and that focaccia.

A reliable old favourite. Tends to get very busy, but for a good reason. Their pastas and risottos are so good that I’ve never gotten to other mains… The starters and desserts are also great. Quite often the menu fails to convey all the complexity and intensity of flavour in simply-sounding dishes. And the staff is just so lovely and helpful!

Tipo 00 deserves a 5 out of 5 rating for an exceptional dining experience. To start, I ordered the Lingua (ox tongue, balsamic & pink peppercorn), which was rich and flavorful. For the main course, the Tagliolini al nero (squid ink tagliolini, squid and bottarga) was perfectly cooked with a delightful depth of taste. We also tried the daily special, sea urchin and abalone spaghetti, and were thrilled by the freshness of the seafood. A tip for fellow visitors: there is often a queue outside the bistro about 15 minutes before it opens at 11:30am. It’s wise to either make a reservation (deposit required) or arrive early for a chance at a walk-in table.

Possibly one of the best restaurant experiences we have had in quite a while. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service, from the moment we arrived, till our leaving the restaurant was exceptional. The wait staff managed A perfect balance of being attentive and engaging, but giving us space and not being intrusive. Each meal came out in a timely fashion, with a sensible time frame offered between courses. Will happily return to this venue.

Modern Australian cuisine right on the beach! The seafood here is absolutely worth it — super fresh and beautifully cooked. The menu is seasonal, and honestly, just ask the manager for recommendations — you can’t go wrong. Definitely a hidden gem worth a second (or third!) visit!

This is what $33 got me. Beef was dry, fatty and full of tendons. It was a vindaloo but may aswell have been a Rogan Josh, no spice to it at all. Naan just tasted like baking soda.

Indian gem in the St Kilda neighbourhood. It’s located close to public transport (i.e. a tram stop nearby) so this Indian restaurant is easily accessible too. We genuinely enjoyed all their modern Indian dishes so we won’t hesitate coming back here whenever we’re somewhere around that area.

Food was amazing. I do wish the butter chicken was a little bit creamier but other than that we’ll definitely order again. The pack for 1 is the perfect size and I even had leftovers

We went to Gimlet last night to celebrate my husband's birthday. From the minute we walked in last night until we left we were impressed. We had a consummate professional waitress named Rina. She was very knowledgeable, professional and very exceptionally helpful especially with my adult daughter's anaphylaxis to nuts. The food was delicious. Everything from the Garfish Gilda to the white asparagus to the steak. It was all fantastic. The atmosphere, the food and the service from Rina was all exactly what you would expect from a fine dining restaurant. I cannot recommend Gimlet enough. Thank you for a memorable evening x

Came here for lunch. Food: you can go with set menu or ala carte. Great thing about this place is that if you're dining alone, they provide half portion for the main and sides. I had the ala carte menu - zucchini flower, raw scallop, tenderloin, potatoes, and salted honey tart. Absolutely delicious. There are good selection of cocktails too, including classic cocktails not listed in the menu. Services: really great. Attentive and explains the menu very well, including checking in for any dietary and allergens requirements. Ambience: awesome. Great for lunch or dinner, and even supper. Overall a wonderful dining experience!

We visited Gimlet to celebrate a special occasion during our short stay in Melbourne, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. The food was truly spectacular, every dish was beautifully prepared and full of incredible flavor. What really made the experience unforgettable was the service. Our waiter, Álvaro, offered exceptional, attentive, and genuinely warm care from start to finish. We couldn’t have chosen a better place. Absolutely recommended

Had a wonderful experience at Gimlet. The service was excellent and our waiter was very friendly with good recommendations. The roasted duck breast was honestly the highlight of the night — perfectly cooked, super tender, and full of rich flavour that really surprised me. The lobster risotto was just as impressive: creamy, balanced, and every bite tasted fresh and naturally sweet. These two dishes alone made the meal unforgettable. Dessert was flawless as well. The only downside was the side fries, which felt a bit too ordinary.（sry to say that these fries taste like they got it from Macca) But overall, the meal was fantastic and absolutely worth coming back for

On my list of restaurants to check out for the longest time and I’m glad this was ticked off. Wonderful experience at Gimlet with the gorgeous decor, kind of old school English dining house vibe they are going for there, elevated and good service. However, I thought the food was not as memorable and spending close to $200 on a main (the steak), I didn’t think it was particularly mind blowing. The only dish I recalled that stood out was the scallop appetiser but anyone can basically replicate that dish. Still worth a visit though and I really did enjoy the night there.

A must visit in Melbourne. We were so lucky they were able to fit us in for lunch! Fully booked for lunch! Bookings are essential. Everything from start to finish is perfect. From the host (with the biggest smile) sitting us at the chef's table, the bartender making the best cocktails and the chefs cooking the most delicious food. This was our 2nd visit and there will surely be more to come, and each time, the food was outstanding. We will continue to recommend Gimlet to friends and family visiting Melbourne.

A delightful experience overall! The cocktails here are definitely a highlight – wonderfully crafted and absolutely delicious. Each drink was a real treat. The food also impressed with its freshness and quality. You can tell they use great ingredients, and everything tasted vibrant. The only slight drawback was the price point, which felt a little higher than average. However, considering the quality of the cocktails and the freshness of the food, it's still a worthwhile spot for a special occasion or when you're looking to indulge a bit. The atmosphere and views are also a definite plus. I'd happily return for those fantastic drinks and fresh bites!

We had our wedding at Captain Baxters on the 23rd of October 2025. It was the most incredible day we could have hoped for. The staff at CB went above and beyond for us and our guests. The manager and event management team were so accommodating to our needs leading up to the day, it made the wedding planning process so much easier than I was anticipating. We are so glad we had our wedding here and we look forward to revisiting the memories of the day by coming back!

Captain Baxter never misses. I'm here almost every time their menu rotates, and it's always something exciting and delicious. The chef's creativity really shows, and every dish feels fresh, balanced, and full of flavour. The owner/manager should be incredibly proud of the team they've assembled. The service is warm, attentive, and consistent, which is rare these days. You can tell everyone here genuinely cares about the experience they create. 🌊

I had the best time at Captain Baxter’s bottomless brunch last Sunday! The atmosphere was amazing — great music, beautiful view, and such a fun vibe all around. Thank you for being open to listening about our complaints. I still can't believe that you unintentionally or intentionally skiped orders from some people (9 of us) and finaly delivered ll ordered drinks to our tabe after 40 minutes and 3 reminders. What I can't understand is that the order has been taken for food but couple of people have been easily skipped. I personally pointed they still there and they are not invisible. Finally on our satisfaction the staff has been changed and suddenly we have been all visible and acknowledged. Thank you so much to second lady staff who was much more polite,helpful and knowledgeable. Food was ok but nothing from all we have ordered wasn't special to say it was outstanding. Thank you for having us on Australia day, but we shall take time to come back here. Mostly because of the poor ser.

We had our work party here and everyone loved the views and food. We had some vegetarian dishes and we absolutely loved them. The atmosphere was great and so were all the staff. The music every where was amazing adding to the party vibes!

The fried chicken was so good! Accompanying it is a hot mango and mayonnaise which complimented it beautifully. Location was very cute. And it's a big establishment.

We went there. Food was awful. Pizza was burnt, lasagna was cold, very small in portion and very old. Not fresh. I told the lady about that, she said that she had talked with manager. The manager didn't excuse at all! They charged us fully with no excuse! It was my worst experience in Melbourne ever. Don't believe this much disrespect. With I could put negative point.

Glad that I Carusi is totally back in form… I first started going here when it opened in the mid 2000’s… back then I took my girlfriend, now I am taking her and our two kids! Calamari fritti for entree perfect. Pizza was so spot on , even the GF base was awesome. And the pasta was also delicious .. My one problem was we were so full we couldn’t fit in any desert!! can’t wait to go back… and thanks Serge for the beautiful service… great to see you again

I was profoundly insulted by my experience at your establishment. The attitude displayed toward us was nothing less than outright rude and disrespectful. On Monday night, six of my friends and I ordered seven pizzas. Despite arriving before other customers, we waited over 30 minutes for our food in an environment that was not particularly busy, while others who arrived later were served ahead of us. When the pizzas finally arrived, two were severely undercooked. We politely requested that the staff cook them further, but no apology was offered. Instead, the pizza maker gave us a look that clearly conveyed displeasure with our request. After another extended wait, the pizzas returned, completely burnt. It was evident at that point that the pizza maker had taken offense to our initial request and deliberately served us burnt food. This behavior was not only highly unprofessional but also shocking. What was more disturbing was that none of the staff intervened, and the burnt pizzas were still served to our table. Feeling humiliated, we decided to leave. When we informed the staff that we would only be paying for the food we had actually consumed, they insisted we pay for the entire order, treating us as if we were being unreasonable. Throughout this entire ordeal, there was not a single apology. Ultimately, the manager agreed to remove the burnt pizzas from the bill, and we left. This experience left us feeling deeply disrespected and disappointed. It is unfortunate that, while many loyal customers are noticing the decline in quality and turning to other pizzerias easily, your establishment has chosen to respond with such a dismissive and unprofessional attitude. It is regrettable that this is the direction your restaurant has taken

We booked a table. We were running 15minutes late and called ahead to give warning, the man on the phone said that's fine. When we arrived, there was no table for us. I've read other reviews and this is obviously an issue they haven't addressed. Anyway, Ten minutes later we sat down at a table. We ordered Tapas, two dishes came within 15 minutes but then the rest took an additional half hour or longer which was surprising as, by this stage, half the tables were free. Our server was very nice. The food was quite nice, if a tad expensive. It's uncomfortably loud, as they pack in as many tiny tables as possible. It gets extremely loud. You will likely have to squeeze past people to get to your table. To sum up, the overall service (including not holding our reserved table, and speed of food coming out) let it down. I wouldn't go back, but I don't look at the experience negatively. 3/5 for me.

Really loved the traditional Spanish food, flavours and music. The waiter was passionate and very helpful and recommended some delicious dishes. The paella was probably the best I’ve had outside of Spain, not dry at all. Sangria was perfect too. You have to have the croquettes, best ever. Overall loved the food! However, the services was a bit slow, took half an hour to get glasses on the table and the bill took longer. It was really loud and we were squished in with the tables and chair way too close together. It really is a great restaurant and I would definitely go back to try the many other dishes we didn’t get to try!

One of the worst dining experience. Ordered 80 dollars eel don but served with 30 dollars eel with tee. Taste like frozen eel from Asian store. Rice was dry and poorly seasoned. Waiter has weird accent, extremely impatient, very hard to communicate. Wish you close down soon

One of the best dinning experiences we’ve had in a long time. The food was amazing and the service was excellent we were attended to glasses filled and table kept clean. The egg plant, and beef cubes were superb. I was surprised how good the Brussel sprouts tasted toasted and delicious. I was also astounded by the fact that the chefs knew how to make the flavours without using coriander as a main ingredient minimal use of coriander 🌿 was particularly well done. Definitely worth a visit. We then went up to the ghost bar which was also an experience in itself. Congratulations Hotel Esplanade

I was pleasantly surprised by how good and authentic the food is. There was not a bad dish in sight- from the 5 spice chicken to the pork dumplings, crab fried rice and caramelised eggplant were delectable! Service was impeccable (which is rare these days). I booked a table for 7pm and we got there on time. The food was really good, but less than an hour later we were told we had to leave because they needed the table for the next booking at 8pm. The website says you get the table for 1 hour 45 minutes, so it didn't make sense. We asked if we could be moved to another table but they didn't help. Pretty disappointing and it ruined what could have been a nice night.

A culinary delight! The ginger chicken dumplings were bursting with flavour, and the pork & Moreton Bay bug dumplings were an absolute revelation. The duck fried rice was expertly crafted, with the duck perfectly rendered, and the seasonal greens were fresh and vibrant. Paired with a well-made cocktail and a cold beer, it was the perfect meal. The service was quick and friendly, adding to the overall excellent atmosphere. At $130 for four dishes and drinks, especially considering the prime location near the Palais, it was exceptional value.

Been here a few times now and always impressive. Clever Asian fusion food that is always great. The spicy pork chilli wontons are an absolute must have. All the dishes have great balanced flavours and table service is friendly and attentive. Their cocktails are beautifully made and the wine list is also very good. A must go Melbourne foodie spot in my opinion. April 2025 update: Hidden away in the iconic Espy, this restaurant has its own kitchen, table staff and absolutely delivers on every level. Still an absolute must go.

Good food and beautiful venue but upset that we were unable to get satisfactory photos with the venue despite travelling to Melbourne just to dine here. I celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday at Reine and flew here from Sydney with the plan of leaving same day just to have lunch here after reading the reviews and seeing how beautiful this venue was. The food was mostly amazing with the exception of the duck not being particularly crispy. Would recommend the blue fin tuna, spanner crab crumpet, Scallop, chestnut & kombu hollandaise, caper, and the duck liver and foie gras, and ice cream! However, one event that happened deeply upset us and it left a bad taste in our mouths whilst leaving. After lunch, we wanted to get a few photos with the venue as we previously asked to get a photo together from the waitstaff however the photo did not show the venue accurately and cut off the ceiling (which is beautiful and a centrepiece!). Additionally the staff was nice to ask us to move in a certain direction to the left to try and reposition us however when we accidentally misheard and took a few steps in front, she loudly retorted and in a rude way that she said to the left as if we couldn’t understand her when we misheard her which is incredibly rude! We wanted to get a few quick individual photos before we left as we didn’t want to disturb the ambience and other guests. However, 3 photos (1 minute in!), one of the staff told us that we were unable to get more photos as we were disturbing the other guests. I was deeply astonished as despite eating at so many fine dining restaurants, I have never been told such a thing a minute into a photo! The worst thing was that I was unable to take a photo for my boyfriend even though he was celebrating his birthday in front of the beautiful venue. We agreed to stop taking photos straight away as we do respect the ambience of the place and do not want to disturb the other guests however as we were leaving I noticed the same staff eying us down and staring as if what we did was a crime and extremely rude. It made us feel very unwelcome despite the previously beautiful service and food paired with the wonderful venue. It would be great in the future if we weren’t allowed to take photos individually or if disturbing other guests was the issue to have the staff offer to take a quick photo instead when they see their guests taking photos instead just telling the guests to leave because we were disturbing others and staring in such a rude way until we left even though we agreed to leave straight away.

My recent dining experience at Reine & La Rue was certainly memorable, though it came with mixed feelings. To start with, the ambience was nothing short of spectacular — elegant, romantic, and truly grand. It’s the kind of place that feels ideal for a date night or a celebratory dinner, where every detail — from the table setting to the background music — enhances the mood of luxury and intimacy. As for the service, it was exceptional. The staff were polite, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. They took the time to explain each dish and offer thoughtful recommendations. One of the male waiters seemed a little unsure when describing the menu, but his effort and professionalism were still very much appreciated. The overall level of service made the experience feel warm and welcoming, even in such a fine-dining setting. Moving on to the food, this was where my personal preferences came into play. It was my first time trying this style of cuisine, and I must admit that the flavours didn’t quite suit my palate. I usually enjoy bold and spicy tastes, so the delicate and rich flavours of dishes like the foie gras felt a bit heavy and overwhelming for me. It’s not that the food was poorly made — in fact, it was beautifully presented and clearly of high quality — but rather that the subtlety of the flavours was simply different from what I’m used to. In summary, Reine & La Rue is an extraordinary restaurant in terms of atmosphere and service, but the cuisine might not appeal to those who prefer strong, spicy flavours. Still, it’s an experience worth trying at least once for the sheer beauty and elegance of the place.

This is a place for all occasions, especially when you want to celebrate with your love ones. The atmosphere is classy and cozy, full of buzz but not noisy. The food is amazing, we initially thought of ordering from ala carte menu but were attracted to their chef’s and signature sets. The signature set exceeded our expectations, everything from starter, entree, main and dessert were awesome. The staff are very friendly and helpful, they gave us time to through the menu and explained it well. The sommelier is knowledgeable, passionate and recommended some good wine that suit us. Overall a great experience, lovely and memorable dinner.

Had a wonderful experience here. Need to enter the building before finding the restaurant. Came here for dinner and was seated at the bar. Had a direct view to the different type of drinks. Bartenders were very helpful - ordered 3 different classic cocktails that were not on the menu, but they crafted it beautifully. Food was absolutely amazing, you can select chef's menu or go with ala carte - had crab crumpet and beef tartare for starter, prawn for entree, flat iron wagyu for main (on top of the sauce, they had complimentary mustard to select), and soft serve ice cream for dessert (there are 3 different sauces to pick, 3 different crumbs to pick, and 3 different fruit/nut topping to pick). Everything was absolutely delicious. Service was great and very attentive - both from servers and bartenders. Great for dining with friends or families, or for a date, or for dining alone.

You cannot improve upon perfection. The venue alone is incredible, you feel like you’ve been transported to old world Europe. The staff were friendly and inviting and helpful. We felt so welcome. The food and the service are impeccable. We went with the chefs menu and I couldn’t fault a single thing. Everything was stunningly presented and beautifully prepared. The seafood was fresh, the meat perfectly cooked. The sauces were fresh and full of flavour. I have been twice now and cannot wait to visit again next week!

Food was so delicious that we ate our mains (eye fillet with bone marrow potato purée) in silence. I really enjoyed the spanner crab on the crumpet as the starter. The service was so lovely, one of the waiters had “happy friendship” written on our dessert as we were just dining there to catch up as friends (not celebrating any special occasion) which is one of cutest things that someone has ever done.

The vegan grill set menu was fantastic. Each dish came out quick, with hardly any wait between courses, and every plate was just as good as the last. Staff were great too, clearing up promptly after each course without rushing us. I highly recommend taking a partner or a friend along, it's the perfect way to enjoy a night of outstanding vegan food together.

I had a wonderful experience at Rufio! As a coeliac, it is always such a relief to go to a restaurant that caters to us. The food and the drinks were fantastic and so tasty! The staff made me feel very welcome and were so friendly! Could not fault this establishment and would definitely come again

The staff here were lovely, fast and very helpful. Most of us ordered the large set menu. Each course was impressive. The total amount of food was perfect and left us very full. Crowd favourite was the calamari and dessert (Tres Leches) One of us had the $25 chicken special on Wednesdays. The value on this deal is incredible for the quality. Perfect location for a nice meal with work friends, small celebrations or a date night.

Just wow. This restaurant is amazing. The service was perfect, so timely and helpful especially with my current dietary requirements. They literally have a no onion and garlic menu for customers. The food was absolutely delicious, so reasonable in price for the quality you get and the flavour combinations and profiles were so good! We came on Thursday night with the steak night deal of $25 and for a steak lover, this was cooked to perfection and had such great serving of sides with the dish. Overall such a lovely experience and I will definitely be back.

Rufio was recommended because they were a gluten-free restaurant. As a Latin fusion plays there menu is certainly playful with lots of different combinations. We had a few of their dishes to try salt and pepper squid was the standout entree. For mens we tried to pork belly with applesauce which was a tad sweet for my wife's liking and unfairly we've had an amazing experience with pork belly that we've been chasing to replicate and that's always a bad place to start from. Also try the stuff vegetarian eggplant certainly more to be desired There wasn't anything special about the taste I just didn't like it. I think it is a little bit unfair again I'm a four star just because I didn't really agree with the taste but I can see how other people might love this place. Ambiance wise it is really cool nice place to host a gathering where you would have essentially your own space so that's pretty cool.

A lovely dinner, with quick and attentive service. The food was salty and flavourful but not overpowering. A lovely location, quiet on a Tuesday night. The food seemed authentic. Four of us comfortably shared two pastas and a pizza for a moderately sized dinner. My favourite item was the pipe rigate!

DOC has never disappointed me, but this spot is in my opinion one of the best in town. Pizzas are just another level; fresh ingredients and perfectly made, I loved both cornuto and boscaiola! Was difficult to order due to a system crash, but managed nevertheless. I’ll definitely be back as we got take away so next time will review the atmosphere!

Had a lovely casual brunch at DOC Pizza in St Kilda during my weekend. The antipasto platter was a highlight - the mozzarella-stuffed peppers were genius! Caramelle pasta with pork rib filling was hearty and unique. Their classic San Daniele pizza delivered with perfect crispy crust. the pistachio calzoncino was rich, the nutty filling paired well with the flaky pastry.

I enjoyed a farewell lunch for a colleague here and everyone opted for pizza. This is authentic style Italian complete with heavily accented staff, traditional in all the best ways

Absolutely love D.O.C! 🍕 Tried the Pizza ai Porcini—loaded with mushrooms and truffle oil, super rich and flavorful. The crust was spot on: crispy outside, soft inside, not too heavy. Also had the prawn linguine—fresh and generous with the shrimp. Finished with the cannoli, which disappeared in seconds—lightly sweet with ricotta, dark choc, and orange bits. Perfect meal!

The food we had here was alright, felt like the flavours and seasoning weren’t as potent on the night we visited. However it was an unreal dining experience in terms of the quality of service we got here. Excellent team working the floor provided us with great insight on the dishes and made our stay here much more enjoyable. Bread was phenomenal tho.

We visited this restaurant to celebrate a friend's birthday and had a mostly pleasant experience. The entrées and antipasti were absolutely delicious, and the drinks were well-made. We really appreciated how attentive the two male servers were; one of them even noticed I didn’t enjoy my drink and kindly swapped it out for something I'd like better, which was a lovely touch. However, the experience did have some inconsistencies. While the mains were okay, the off-menu tiramisu we ordered for dessert was quite disappointing. It was overly sweet and didn’t have that classic espresso flavor we were hoping for. Additionally, the presentation was a bit messy. When we mentioned this feedback to another server, the response we received felt a bit dismissive, which was a noticeable contrast from the otherwise great service we had earlier in the evening. In the end, it left us a bit disappointed. Overall, we’d say it’s a place with some really good highlights, especially on the appetizer side and thanks to some of the staff who went above and beyond. But there’s definitely room for a bit more consistency in both desserts and service attitude.

I reserved my birthday dinner on 27/06 here seeing the good reviews. However, my experience did not reflect any of the above. First of all, I am not allowed to bring my birthday cake in to share, which if fine and when I asked whether I can bring it in to take a photo, the lady over the phone was very hesitant so I just didn’t bring the cake at all. We were warmly greeted in the beginning and the nightmare begin when we started ordering. The restaurant light was very dim and it made us a bit difficult to see the menu, when the waitress in the black frame glasses, brown hair, ponytail came up was the real nightmare. My parents don’t speak or read English very well. Hence, my brothers and I are translating for them. It was a bit difficult for us to translate as the menu was hard to read with the lighting and with all the Italian words. The waitress came up and she was very impatient she sped read through the menu and the special menu and just took off. The restaurant was not the most quiet and with all the Italian mixed in her spiel it was very hard to follow. She left after she did her spiel we were there left dumbfounded. Afterwards we decided to ask her whether there is any recommendations so we can order according to that. Again she was very impatient and rude. She also asked previously whether there is any allergy and I advised her I was allergic to mango. However, my mum didn’t feel like seafood that day so she advised me before we asked for her recommendation. She was in a very condescending tone stating:” you should’ve told me before this is why I asked you if there is any allergies.” I was too shocked to reply as I felt like I was being scolded like a child. I didn’t know not feeling like seafood and allergic to seafood falls into the same category. However, I continue to let her recommend, she again spoke at a ultra fast speed and said all the none seafood is on the special menu. When I asked where is the special menu she said it’s in her head. I do recommend that there is a physical special menu as I cannot understand a single word coming out of her mouth. She also had quite an unpleasant breath, which really affected the experience. A gentle reminder about personal oral hygiene could really help maintain the restaurant’s excellent standards. After ordering I was left feeling really disgusted by her attitude. I can’t believe this is the service coming from a chef hat award restaurant. The first dish took forever to arrive. A simple lemon lime bitters took 20 minutes to service. The time in between each dish is way too long. The ravioli was quite salty and when I mentioned the food was alright to that same female staff she was unhappy with my response and again very rudely said, “ what’s wrong” I had to say the ravioli was quite salty and she seemed very upset about it. The final wagyu was too raw for my parents. I was never asked how we prefer the wagyu to be cooked. I’m not sure whether we are never asked or there was not preference for how the wagyu is cooked. The duck was quite dry and hard to chew. We were never offered the dessert menu as well. In addition, I personally thought she was just having a bad day hence the attitudes. However, she also served the table behind us and because the tables are very close and she is very loud I can hear her voice. I found out she is capable to being respectable and nice to the two caucasian lady sitting behind her which leaves me wonder why here attitude is like this with us? I do hope it is not because of a racial preference. On the contrary, all the other staff I have encountered in the restaurant are very nice, respectable and patient, that’s why I gave one star for service. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience and it was the worst birthday dinner I’ve ever had. The service really makes up a big part of the experience. Overall I would not recommend to any of my Asian friends out there or friends who doesn’t understand Italian as it seems like it is a prerequisite to understand Italian to order otherwise you will be looked down by the waitress.

Came here for dinner with a reservation and had the 'Gran Four' tasting menu which included seven dishes as well as some starter snacks, sourdough bread and pre-dessert palate cleanser which was not listed on the menu. Most of the dishes were very tasty; highlights were the scallops encased in a light crispy coating, the lobster risotto which has a condensed seafood and cheesy taste with a few big pieces of lobster to enjoy, and the duck tortellini which was rich and savoury with a nice al dente texture. The strawberry sorbet was also very good with a naturally sweet and refreshing taste. Service was friendly and attentive, each dish was explained in detail and the course took around two and a half hours to finish.

Amazing food, service and atmosphere, not to be faulted. After so many years, still the best Italian food in town.

Dinner at Grossi Florentino was such a lovely experience. The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The service was friendly and professional without ever feeling over the top, and every course was full of flavour and care. The pasta was fresh and delicate, and the desserts were just beautiful. It’s one of those places where you can relax, enjoy great food, and really take in the moment. Everything flowed perfectly, and you could tell the team genuinely enjoy what they do. A wonderful spot for a special night out in Melbourne.

The Burrata Festival was great — I loved that it wasn’t overloaded with the same type of food stalls, which made it a unique experience. However, I do feel there shouldn’t have been an entry fee (or if so, it should’ve been minimal). The stall prices also didn’t feel very reasonable for a festival setting. That said, the overall food experience was exceptional 😋, and that’s really what the night was all about — enjoying delicious food and great vibes!

So many things to see and so little time! Bustling with people on a Sunday and great respite from the rain/shine/rain/shine!!! The queue at Agathe also moves pretty quickly. There weren’t any pandan croissant at 12pm.. And oysters were $25/dozen and tasted fresh, no fishyness at all. The crack sauce provided at the tables were also 🥵🤩 throw your oyster shells in the oyster bins too

South Melbourne Market has a contemporary, well-kept atmosphere that sets it apart. Although it has slightly fewer stalls than Queen Victoria Market, it still covers all your daily essentials. Wandering through the colourful produce, checking out the fresh meat and seafood, and ending the visit with a relaxing coffee in the sunshine makes for a wonderfully enjoyable morning.

Love visiting South Melbourne Market! There’s such a great variety of food and goods — from fresh produce and seafood to homeware and little gifts. The market is clean, tidy, and always has a nice atmosphere. Really enjoyed the coffee and pastry while strolling around, and picked up some household items too. The biggest surprise was the sea urchin — I’ve never seen one so big before! And the oysters were incredibly fresh — I love that natural (taste of the sea). Absolutely worth checking out if you enjoy good food and fresh seafood.

I really enjoy South Melbourne Market, and it’s definitely one of my favourites. The market is always vibrant and lively, yet clean and well organised. There’s a great variety from fresh produce, gourmet foods, and street eats to seafood, meats, fashion, and homewares. We especially love the pastries from Agathé and the fresh oysters and prawns from the seafood stalls.

Busy and famous market in south Melbourne. Foodhall has many delicious and by the end of day ( Apx 4pm ) there is seafood/ meat auction at some stores. Overall it is a great place to visit in weekend, but parking spot will be hard to find.

Wonderful market with a million and one delights for the senses. Delicious food of all kinds, toys, vintage clothes, fruits and vegetables abound in a safe and friendly atmosphere. Cannot wait to get back for my next visit!

This was a superb find during a visit to Melbourne in May 2024. Great place in a great neighbourhood. Cozy cafe atmosphere with friendly staff. Vegan-friendly - my flat white with oat milk was delicious. Indoor and outdoor seating. Right on the tram line with many tram routes passing by. Across the street from Albert Park for those who like to sit on a park bench while enjoying their coffee. Can’t wait to return.

My wife (who is a coeliac) and I scoured the Internet in search of somewhere we could have a gluten free breakfast. Eventuality we came across Fitzrovia, which seemed to offer a good range of gluten free options just a few minutes from where we were staying in St Kilda Beach. We were not disappointed at all, great coffee, imaginative and very tasty breakfast options, really nice staff, lovely venue and brilliantly convenient. It really is one of the few places that we couldn’t rate more highly.

10% surcharge on Saturdays. We came on a Saturday morning and although it was busy, we were still able to get a table outside fairly quickly. The service for drinks was quick, in fact a second staff member asked to take our drink order. Excellent coffee. We ordered the okonomyaki and baked eggs. Okonomyaki was delicious however for me it got a bit too creamy later on amongst the batter and pork fat. Was a little hard to get a water bowl for the dogs, however eventually got one and someone even came around with treats.

The food and service was okay. I understand it was busy and that’s why the food took about an hour to come out. It also took a very long time for drinks to come out (my hot chocolate took about 20 minutes) which is why I didn’t ask for more drinks after. The service was quite nice, however we were delivered food from another table twice which was a little strange. The main reason for this rating is that the food took way too long to come out. I must say that the chili scrambled eggs were divine and I would eat that again. The steak sandwich wasn’t that great as the bread was soggy from the beetroot and my friends bread was completely burnt. The steak could’ve been cooked a bit more as it was hard to bite. The burger was also quite soggy and difficult to eat. Overall the experience was okay - not great but not bad.

Gorgeous atmosphere. Perfect spot for a catch up with friends and family. Food was superb, so much choice!! Polenta chips were a crowd pleaser...all our meals were well made with good balance of flavors. Some dishes for vegetarians too!

Ok so straight off the bat I didn't like being asked if I had a booking, who books breakfast? Also the table we wanted was reserved and sat there unused for half the time. Small grip aside this cafe was really good, lovely design and great service. The food was delicious and their spiced cacao chai was phenomenal too. Dine here, you won't be disappointed.

It's my favorite Cafe & restaurant in Fitzory St. I recommended to my friend and we tried the slow cooked Lamb shoulder with Salad was very tasty. Friendly staff and nice environment for meeting friends. They provide a special Daily Menu which is very impressive. I would love to try Fish Pie next time. Thank you ~

Our waiter didn’t take our order correctly, so we missed out on one of the dishes we really wanted to try. We also felt the service was quite rude at times. That said, the steak with mushroom sauce was delicious! The white wine mussels and shredded duck were also really good, but very salty (which, judging by other reviews, might be a recurring issue). The Crème Caramel was a bit average and underwhelming. The atmosphere is lively and the menu is huge — lots of interesting dishes to explore. I’m open to coming back to try more — hopefully with friendlier service and a bit more balanced seasoning.

The true definition of a Melbourne institution. I’ve only ever heard people rave about this place — and after dining here, I completely understand why it’s been thriving for over 40 years. What’s already charming is that bookings are only taken over the phone — no online reservations — which adds to its old-school appeal. The moment you walk in, you can feel the buzz. The atmosphere is electric yet classic — white tablecloths, mirrored walls with menus and specials written across them, and a retro bar greeting you at the entrance. The waiters, dressed in crisp black and white, move gracefully through the space, creating a seamless dining experience. Service was exceptional — attentive, fast, and friendly throughout the night. The food was absolutely exquisite. We started with a dozen oysters, mussels in white wine and cream, and the house-made pork sausage with mustard sauce — all perfection. For mains, we had the Entrecôte, cooked to perfection and served with fries, salad, and our choice of sauce. The portion size was generous, the quality outstanding, and at $53, incredible value. We paired our meal with cocktails followed by a bottle of rosé — the perfect match. France-Soir is one of those restaurants that stays with you long after you’ve left. A place I’ll always come back to and dream about returning to. It’s fun, timeless, and everything you want from a classic French dining experience. I hope it continues to shine in Melbourne for decades to come.

A hidden gem serving French cuisine. Its quite packed and always crowded, best to make a booking. Friendly staff. Food was served quick. The escargot was delicious. They serve excellent bread as well. Duck was cooked nicely. Chips were crispy. Steak was good, wished it was a bigger portion. The dessert was exceptional. Pear tart was amazing, chocolate mousse was rich.

I had an absolute fantastic night, no words can describe the time I had at France soir, Milan our waiter was caring and took time to make our night so special! John, Cedric, Justin and Gaspard did their part beautifully! Can’t wait to come back to our own little France here in Melbourne!

Nice French Restaurant - food are delicious and well prepared, staff speak french well. A bot busy but understandable as it is so popular. Only thing is that when I called to reserve a seat, the waitress seems a bot inpatient

We had the quail with truffle mushroom sauce, roast duck confit here, absolutely fantastic! 🍄 It even better in Paris. The food here is truly exceptional, and the service was outstanding. 💯 The atmosphere was also delightful. I highly recommend it! ✨🍽️

There is a reason that this is a beloved Melbourne institution, the food is delicious. The service is quick, attentive and friendly, the wine list is extensive. I love the steak tartare its perfect, the escargot is tender and packed with garlic, sopping up that butter with the fresh warm bread a delight. I had the rabbit special which was rich and moreish and the profiteroles were an obscenely generous serving.

The food was really, really good, it tasted amazing, and looked really nice. The portions are a bit small though, for the price. Staff are kind and friendly, and drinks come out really fast. We got seated pretty quickly. The atmosphere is sooo nice! The music isn't too loud either.

Recommended by local, apparently they said St Ali has the best coffee in town, so I come and try it out. They have really lots of variety of beans and brewing, I tried their standard and daily single origin, well, thats really good 😊 Food are very special as well, my favorite is the Barramundi Wings (fish with sweet and spicy source), a bit of thai flavor which is a surprise in view of this is a Coffee place. But i really love it, very fresh fish as well. Turkish Egg and Fluffy pancakes are good as well.

We came here for a quick coffee and it did not disappoint. The staff were very friendly and well informed of the speciality drinks. We got ‘espresso flight’ and ‘strawberry cloud’. They were great. My only complaint and reason to not come back is the prices. My drink was $16 alone. Not very affordable, especially in this economy!

The experience was both educational and enjoyable, offering deep insight into the artistry and precision behind specialty coffee. The team’s passion and expertise were evident in every detail; from the roasting process to the guided tasting. Each cup revealed unique notes and aromas, reflecting the global diversity and craftsmanship that make coffee such a fascinating beverage. It was an awesome experience that reminded me how excellence often lies in the details, and how curiosity can transform something as simple as a cup of coffee into a world of discovery.

Visited St Ali’s after my best friends recommendation for amazing coffee. The coffee was amazing 10/10. However, service was a bit slow and we had to wait 10 minutes to get served, despite not being too busy. Apart from that good place for a very good cup of coffee plenty of parking nearby. The croissant was very good and crisp . The chilli scramble was delicious too.

Attica was a very special experience. It was more than just a meal, it was more of an experience, where you are taken on a journey through their meals. The service was spot on, allowing ample time to enjoy each meal and rest in between. The meals were impeccable, they took extra care to ask about my dietary requirements, ensuring to clarify each meal was allowed for and I didn't feel I missed out at all as they simply modified the meal so I could still enjoy the full experience. I would highly recommend it you are seeking a special meal out.

First time dining at Attica, loved every minute of it. Love that it was able to accommodate a celiac (not all fine dining even at an equivalent price point do) wait staff very attentive and knowledgeable. Only regret is not remembering to take a photograph of the lasagna dish. If I had to offer a critique (really splitting hairs) it maybe had a bit too many other diners but 1) I dined on a Friday and 2) even so not enough that it impacted my enjoyment that I would not want to come again.

After trying to get a table for a long time, my partner managed to get one for us for my birthday. We could not have had a better experience. The staff were very welcoming and knowledgeable and attentive. The food was amazing and lived up to everything I had heard. I would love to have a bag of the saltbush, while we love everything the stand out dishes were the lasagne and marron. While it is not a cheap dinner, it was definitely worth the price. I look forward to returning in the future.

Firstly the staff were super knowledgeable about all the elements of the food they were serving. Each bring their own unique character to the restaurant. Secondly the food was well balanced and attention to detail was exceptional. The whole meal was the most unique and memorable experience of my existence. I would truly recommend anyone who would like to experience their take on fine dining and a true food lover, artist would especially appreciate this opportunity. Lastly the ingredients they use focuses on traditional Indigenous Australian food that they have been using for centuries these foods I can almost guarantee 99% of Australians have not tried and I think it is important that we recognise our original ingredients and culture as this is a big part of our identity. I would highly recommend reading the Chef's Memoir: Use for Obsession as this will connect with what you're eating and understand of their story.

Recommended by a chef friend from Singapore, I had high expectations — and Attica more than delivered! The opening snacks were exceptional, setting the tone for a meal which is full of surprises — including some adventurous native proteins (I'll keep it a secret!). A highlight was the visit to their kitchen garden, where we enjoyed fresh Tasmanian mushrooms — such a thoughtful and unique touch with apple juice too :) The entire evening lasted around three hours, but it never felt long — each course brought something new and engaging. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere felt both relaxed and refined. If you're in Melbourne, Attica is absolutely worth a stop. You'll leave full, inspired, and with a deeper appreciation for Australian ingredients. Huge thanks to the team!

Food was great - possibly too many courses to really enjoy everything since I was stuffed at the end! Great service if a little impersonal compared to other fine dining. Atmosphere 4 stars because it's quite a big venue for fine dining and can get loud. We LOVED the mushroom diversion outside. It's so nice to have a little break from the table during all these courses sometimes.

All the sea creatures here are fresh. We had the scallops (gosh! Amazing) and the king prawn + chilli crab (super delicious!) I will definitely return!!! You should try & drown in this seafood madness.

We had a short wait for a table, but nothing too inconvenient. The menu is displayed on the wall, which isn’t the most user-friendly setup, but taking a photo made it easier to read and decide. The service was a bit slow... we waited a while before anyone took our order, and again before the food arrived. It felt a little understaffed or unorganised. That said, the food made up for it. The fish was fresh, well-cooked, and packed with flavour. Overall, a really good experience, just shy of great due to the service hiccups.

I was excited to try this place after visiting the South Melbourne Markets location. I had the Singapore Clay Pot with mussels, fish, prawns and rice in a coconut curry soup and it was delicious. The seafood was fresh and tender and the curry base was amazing too. The staff were friendly and the inside of the restaurant is so beautifully decorated. I visited in the late afternoon on a Friday when it was quiet, so unsure what it would be like on a busy night.

A late sitting meant we missed out on a few popular options (apparently it was a big jazz night), but we went with the sambal stingray and crispy John Dory. First time trying stingray — nicely cooked and delicious. Keen to come back for the creole gumbo and grilled octopus leg. The staff were friendly and super accommodating with what was left on the menu.

My favourite restaurant of all time. Still as grungey as ever but the food doesn't disappoint. Grand final day was very quiet, place probably needs a freshen up and a manager or rep to take care of community engagement so it can come back to life again. Also, chalkboard is hard for older couple who were sitting next to me to read, they got shy and left. Could tell they were there for nostalgia and didnt feel it. Loyal customers to read and should be made more convenient to read the menu. Staff also seem to avoid customers and are only helpful when engaged by a wave down.

Claypots Seafood Bar has such a cool, laid-back vibe with some of the best seafood around. The dishes are fresh, generous, and full of flavour, with a menu that really celebrates the produce. It’s the kind of place where you can relax with friends, enjoy great music, and soak up the atmosphere while sharing amazing food. Always a fun and memorable night out in St Kilda. 🦐🐟🍸

I have been going to Republica once a week for over a year now, as they are partners with the Social Volleyball event. I always get the same items from the menu: pepperoni or brisket pizza, fried chicken and chips. The beer is always cold, the service is quick and the casual vibe during summer time is what you want. I should add a mention to the salmon tartare, really good.

We had a fantastic time over the weekend celebrating my daughter’s birthday. She wanted ocean views, and she got them! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was vibrant, and the live music was just awesome. Every staff member we met was friendly and helpful. Thank you for making it such a special day!

My partner and I visited on the Monday before Melbourne cup, and I was nervous they weren't going to let us in because we had been walking along the beach and were wet, and didn't feel dressed up enough for the venue. But upon entering, the door was held open for us, our umbrellas were taken, and we were greeted like any other guest. The Irish person who greeted us first was amazing the whole time we were there. I'm not sure if he is the owner, or has just worked there a while, but it was evident that he takes enormous pride in his work and service. He even checked in with us during meals, made sure everything was okay, and that we were happy with our orders and service. Where we were originally sitting was too loud, and our request for a quieter table was accepted without hesitation and it never felt like we were any problem to any of the staff. The food was excellent. I had the lamb skewers, and whilst the sauce was sweet and an indication on the menu would have been nice, I was so pleased with everything I ate. I am usually extremely picky with steak, but I had no problems with it here. My partner also enjoyed his salmon tartare, and his risotto. I ate the tempura zucchini flower off his dish, and whatever stuffing was in it deserves its own dedicated dish – it was amazing! Every staff member we encountered was lovely, professional, and non-judgemental. There was only a few other groups in the restaurant with us, and while I wouldn't recommend as a place for a quick dining experience, it was such a lovely atmosphere and experience in a wonderful location. I loved that you can decide between the vegan or vegetarian options for things like feta and tofu/egg. Absolutely delicious brunch in a beautiful location. The broccoli and pea fitters are AMAZING!!! I may struggle to try other menu items because I just want to eat this over and over again.

I found this spot while browsing for brunch spots online and was so impressed with the meal choices! I really appreciated that there was effort put into making seemingly simple meals such as an avocado toast more interesting! Also, the service was so fast & friendly, I will definitely come back :)

We had such a great experience at Soul Sister St Kilda! The food was absolutely delicious and came out really quickly. My partner had the sweet and sour pork, and I had the jungle noodles, both were super flavourful and fresh. My noodles were incredibly tasty, the only small surprise was that I was expecting them to be really spicy, but the spice level was quite mild. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the whole experience was lovely. We’ll definitely be back!

I’m no vegetarian, if anything I love meat. Went there today for dinner and the choices of food are tempting and the flavours are fantastic. Service is excellent and the atmosphere is spot on 👌 Will definitely come back

Had the absolute pleasure of sitting at Table 1 and listen to the Head Chef work her magic. Want to specifically give kudos to how she worked during a fully booked dinner service and the way she handled it like an absolute boss, while also checking in and having a good time with her chefs and wait staff. The food was delicious as always of course!

Food was great but not spectacular, it was a chill cafe but one man (who i’m assuming is the manager after reading other similar reviews), was rude. I ordered the vegan pancake & my sister ordered some sort of an egg scramble, there was an option for a tofu scramble so my sister clarified with the staff that she wanted the egg. He looked at her & after a pause said very condescendingly “yeah, the eggs!”. He also didn’t let me pick up the menus myself after walking in, which is fine because he just wanted to bring them over to our table himself, but the way he reacted to me as I reached for the menu was off putting. The other staff were lovely & the food was good. Wouldn’t go back after that experience though.

Great Indian street food! We got a samosa chaat and butter chicken. The curry was not too sweet or greasy, and it came with a big serving of rice and naan. The samosa chaat was very filling and tasty.

Thoroughly enjoyed my food at this restaurant. I went with a friend and we ordered the Chaat platter and mix thali and loved everything. The food is bursting with flavour and the portion sizes were perfect. Only criticisms I have would be the presentation for the chaat platter felt a little overloaded, and the restaurant feels a little small so manoeuvring through felt a bit tricky at times

The atmosphere inside was really nice—relaxed, welcoming, and easy to enjoy whether you’re there with friends, family, or just grabbing a casual meal. It had a good vibe without feeling too formal, which made the whole evening even better. The food was absolutely delicious. Every dish was full of flavor, fresh, and cooked to perfection. You could really taste the quality in each bite. The spices were well-balanced and not too heavy, and the menu had a great variety so there’s definitely something for everyone, whether you like things mild or a bit spicier. Everything we ordered came out looking great and tasted even better. What really stood out to me though was the service. The staff were not only friendly but also really helpful when it came to recommending dishes and making sure we were happy with everything. It’s that mix of good food and genuine customer service that makes a place memorable, and Delhi Streets nailed it. Overall, I’d highly recommend Delhi Streets Indian. Between the excellent customer service, the tasty food, and the comfortable environment, it’s definitely a place I’ll be coming back to. If you’re looking for a spot in Melbourne with great Indian food and friendly staff, this is the one. The butter chicken was amazing ❤️

They are serving the authentic taste of Indian food. We ordered pav bhaji,dosa and thalis , everything was amazing. Food took bit time to arrive but wait was worth it. Definitely gonna visit again.

Great Indian food and hard to fault. Let’s begin with the ambience. The restaurant is clean and well maintained albeit a bit cramped. The walls are decorated with retro style movie posters and the chairs got the common Indian brand name logos ranging from Maruthi cars to Hawkins pressure cooker. They have medium sized tables and also provide bar style seating. Moving on to service, the staff is friendly and helpful. I sometimes like to throw in a “please select a dish for me” at the staff and I’m glad to report that I was happy with the choices made on my behalf. Also worth mentioning that they have a booking system in place, both online and over the phone, if suggest using the online portal as sometimes phone bookings could get messed up. Coming to food, to keep it simple it’s delicious. We got samosa chats for entree and it was a blast. The potatoes were not mashed to oblivion and had a nice bite to it. Chole Bhature is definitely the star of the show when it comes to mains. The bread is fluffy and not too oily and the chickpeas cooked to perfection. Thali meals were not so bad either, but probably have had better, that’s not to say it was bad. Definitely a good experience and worth coming back for.

After watching one of their Instagram videos of their "Thors Hammer", I really wanted to try this place. So while visiting Melbourne, stopped by on the way to the airport for a quick lunch. Since I was alone, there was no point ordering the Thors hammer. So I ordered the platter for 1 person. It was HUGE!!!!! The price in theory sounds like a lot but considering I probably wont eat for the next 2 days, it was very good value :-P The meats were fall-apart tender, the fries were extra crispy and the sauce was fantastic. Also tried the Pecan Pie which after the platter was a bit too much for me to finish. If you do visit, save some space for dessert... the pie is truly special. Will definitely visit again if I am in Melbourne

Can’t fault this place. Had a fantastic meal here. We shared a little and I suggest you do too. Bacon was interesting, glad I tried it but probably don’t need to again. The brisket and beef ribs were an experience. Definitely recommend. Do note that while the prices are high, you won’t be hungry! I’m looking forward to what I’m going to try next time.

The food is amazing. We got the plater for 4 and all I can say it would feed 6 adults easily. The BBQ ribs are the best I've ever had. Meat falls of the bone and melts in your mouth. Third Wave BBQ sauce just tops it off. I strongly recommend you try their food. You definitely won't be disappointed.

Nice American-style BBQ with the meats prepped to tender. It melts in the mouth. Overall, a nice experience. The meat platter can be massive depending on how many pax you’re after. We were not too hungry so got a meat platter for 1 and some sides for sharing. We arrived before 7, so we avoided the peak dinner crowd.

Well this is one for the books! We love American BBQ, but sometimes the experience is a bit of a hit and a miss. Ya know a bit chewy, small portion or too expensive. This foody experience was not that! It rang all the bells. We shared the Ribovlaki and mini HSP. 3 meats, a delicious wrap, a huge rib that fell off the bone and crunchy spicy fries, washed down with a Margarita. Talk about satisfied! $56 between two and it was enough! I loved it. Coming back with bells on and with friends!!

This is a hard review to write because I’ve genuinely enjoyed most of my experiences at Third Wave. I was introduced to the restaurant less than a year ago and have been back multiple times, trying several dishes on the menu. Almost everything I’ve had has been excellent with great flavours, generous portions, and consistent quality. However, the Tomahawk Steak was a huge letdown. In fact, it was one of the worst steaks I’ve ever had. It was very tough, chewy, and lacked flavour. Considering it was also the most expensive item I’ve ordered, it was really disappointing. That experience is the only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five. I’ll still come back for the other dishes I’ve enjoyed, but I would not recommend the Tomahawk.

If you want a great American BBQ place with slow cooked any type of meat it's awesome. We had burgers and some fries. Rating it AAA+++. Really good meat Huge Burgers. (The Rib-eye and 3 little piggies) You go away hungry and the other chains like Grill'd don't hold a candle. Try it. You won't regret it.

Always wondering what is proper nasi lemak taste like,and we decided to give it a try. But this one is terible, everything is cold, the bilis have thorns, the egg cold. I hope they change the supervisor or the quality control person. Next we have gadogado and i think Better have an observation for the Gadogado first. Its not gadogado at all. Waste of money :(

Stumbled past here before watching a show at Palaris Theatre and no regrets — food was brought out fast, warm, homey, flavourful, comforting and delicious. Really enjoyed the tasty bowl of noodles and fried rice. Decently priced considering the area and decent portion size. Only concern was that it’s a little cramped in there though with the plant decoration in the way of the diners, as I had leaves brush up against me behind my seat.

I have been here a few times now and I thought I should let people know why. The food is always amazing. The service is always really great and it has such a cute vibe inside as well. Along with all of that, the prices are so good too.

Great location. Easy to get to and heaps of room for customers to sit. The owner and the works are polite, friendly and helpful. The food came out quick and was delicious. Reasonably priced. The restaurant decor is outdated and toilets are on the top floor. A bit inconvenient if you are pregnant or disable. Great selection of Asian deserts. Highly recommend.

Average food, average service, below average experience. Definitely NOT worth a return visit! Having lived in Malaysia as expats for a few years, my daughter and I wanted to enjoy Malaysian food for the first time in ages and previous reviews of Chinta Ria St Kilda had us excited. Unfortunately our evening was an absolute flop! The Ella's Wrap was lovely, but it all went downhill from there. The filling in the Lettuce Cups was bland, to say the least, and when we asked for 2 lemon wedges, we were presented with one tiniest little piece of lemon. And it was one morsel only, so we asked for another, which was literally plonked on our table as if we had offended them by asking for it. The roti tasted floury and not properly cooked, and the satay sauce served with it ... suffice it to say I make a much tastier satay sauce at home, as does the Ayam brand which is sold in supermarkets across Australia. And no, I'm neither Malaysian, Asian, or a chef, I simply know how to cook. There was nothing special about the Special Fried Rice and the Fried Koay Teow too was bland and only improved marginally once we added chili oil (also plonked on our table) which we had to ask for as there are were no condiments on the tables, including even the most basic Kecap Manis. On a positive note, the wine was delicious; but this was because they didn't make it themselves, thank gawd! Despite only being 7:30pm on a very quiet Friday night, our food was rushed with the various plates coming out at the speed of light. My request for the mains to be held back a bit so we could first enjoy what we already had on the small little table was ignored, or perhaps it was seen as a challenge to rush our food out even faster, who knows .... Perhaps the wait staff were not in the mood for working on a Friday night because the service was indifferent, to say the least. Our food, the extra lemon wedges and chili oil we asked for were unceremoniously plonked on our table without even one friendly smile or much eye contact. And this was on a quiet night. What a wonderful way to make paying guests feel like an inconvenience. Overall, we probably should have realised it was a bad restaurant choice when we walked in and saw chopsticks on the tables of a Malaysian restaurant; Chinta Ria, they do not eat with chopsticks in Malaysia! If it was possible, I would have rated our experience lower than 1-star, but we work with what we have. In short, NEVER EVER again will I insult my taste buds by subjecting them to the sub-par food of Chinta Ria St Kilda. What a waste of time, calories and money!

We booked a table for 4 at 6pm, and had to wait until 6:30 to be served to be able to order. We didn't get our food until after a little over an hour. Every time we asked the server what was happening with our order, she said she had already told the kitchen and that there was nothing she could do. And that our "food was coming". We had a show to catch at 8pm so when the food finally came, we had 10 minutes to eat and had to rush off. The food was small portions, mediocre quality, not authentic Malaysian food. And very over priced -- 30 dollars for a main that was very small and of disappointing quality. Do not recommend.

A fabulous feed and great staff with friendly service. Always try and call past when in Melbourne it’s still open on non market days. They do have outdoor heaters but if it’s a bit to chilly in winter, I love to sit inside on the seats in the window which is great when the sun shines through your sit and watch the world go by. Can’t go wrong with $2 Coffin bay natural oysters which are always freshly shucked! Live music on the weekends and some weeknights as well.

If you love seafood you’ll love this corner restaurant in the south Melbourne market. Seating is available outside, or inside the busy market aisle. Very busy spot and no reservations, so you might have a wait if you’re there right on lunch time. Extremely disappointing dining experience with FOOD POISONING I had dinner here today, and it was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had. I ordered four dishes, spending around AUD 150, yet not a single one was even remotely acceptable. When I came in, I saw the seafood displayed in the ice cabinet already looked unfresh—fish eyes were sunken and cloudy, looks like they had been stored for quite some time. So I didn't order any fish, expecting that maybe other seafood would be better. However, what I experienced later is more than just disappointing. The Natural oysters taste very weird, clearly having been opened and left out for hours. The Kilpatrick oysters were dreadful—drowned in what tasted like Heinz BBQ sauce, likely used to mask the lack of freshness. Paying AUD 5 per Kilpatrick oyster for that quality was unacceptable. I believe having these unfresh oysters is the reason why I had diarrhea 2 hours after dinner. Moreover, I'm quite curious: just within 50 meters of this restaurant, there's a shop selling fresh handmade pasta. So why did I end up with a dish that was made from a two-dollar pack of factory-produced supermarket pasta—utterly terrible, poorly seasoned, and lacking even enough salt? What's worse, the entire pasta dish was filled with crushed clam shells. I understand that clam pasta might occasionally have some shell fragments, but your chef clearly stir-fried the clams and pasta together, shattering the shells completely and making the entire dish literally inedible. Also, the food was burnt. The grilled calamari—priced at AUD 45—was a tiny portion, maybe less than 250g, smaller than my palm, and severely charred. It tasted bitter, like eating a piece of charcoal. About two hours after the meal, I started feeling very unwell and developed severe diarrhea and stomach pain. My doctor later diagnosed me with ACUTE GASTROENTERITIS, which is consistent with foodborne illness. That night, I experienced repeated bouts of diarrhea until 4 a.m. It was so severe that when I weighed myself this morning, I found I had lost two kilograms. I have also reported this incident to the local council and the Department of Health for investigation, as required by public health regulations.

Has basically decide to have lunch here the moment i arrived South Melbourne Market, as I can smell good food scent when passing by the aisle. Overall was good, friendly staff, food are fresh with good portion - except, the spaghetti seasoning or fragrance are lacking in my personal opinion!

The seat arrangement was disappointing from the start, and unfortunately, no one stepped in to resolve the issue. While the food was excellent, the service fell short —waiting times were far too long. It’s bad experience for my first time to visit, I would not recommend it because of the worst service.

I went there alone, after my business trip ended. The chefs, waiters/waitresses and sommeliers are friendly, helpful and passionate about what they do. The chefs and waiters also explained each dish and beverage pairing very clearly, highlighting Australian produce, and did it with passion and joy. Go for the chef’s counter, you won’t regret it!

This restaurant is phenomenal. I went in expecting to be disappointed due to the high price point and rave reviews, but their food, service and attention to detail clearly justifies the prices they are charging. We had 18 courses, with one extra special birthday cake surprise at the end, and each and every one of them was more mind blowing than the last. Highlights included the marron dish served with the potato bread, the beetroot and eel tart, the quail, blue fin tuna, steak and the sorbet and tonka bean ice cream desserts. What makes this place extra special is its commitment to culinary excellence. The kitchen is open and bustling and the food is ran to the table by the chefs themselves, ensuring that we as customers fully understand and appreciate what we’re eating. The service from the FOH was also outstanding, they were very knowledge about wines and friendly and personable throughout. This is the best restaurant in Melbourne, and i imagine if it was located anywhere else in the world it would receive 2 or 3 michelin stars. Save up for amaru, it’s worth it

Most disappointing experience- we asked for grilled fish and clearly they have no idea what grilled fish is all about - as shown in the photos. Terrible oily taste - awful chips texture, dirty table, and very slow service. It was way better before and i believe they will lose many customers if they keep this level of service or food.

Was working in the area and decided to get some fish and chips for lunch. The quality is great and serving was generous for the price. Chips were crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside. Batter on the fish was crunchy 👌🏻 Their service was great and speedy.

This morning I had come in and made a big order for my family lunch. I just want to give feedback regarding my third time ordering grilled salmon requesting for it to be cooked through completely. I am so disappointed in receiving this as my order. I am not one to make complaints but it’s the third time I have ordered grilled salmon and once again it was completely undercooked. Please take this review on board and make sure that the food is cooked appropriately when requested to be cooked through fully. This is not good practice and felt like a complete waste of my money.

I ordered the Seafood Fiesta pack with Blue Grenadier fish. Since my last visit I very much waited a while for the next trip to this fishn' chip restaurant. I purchased a Fanta drink to supplement my meal. Wasn't disappointed. The fish and bites were crispy. The chips were right on flavour without the greezy feeling plus 2 slices of 🍋 lemon. All in all I enjoyed my meal. Coming back for more.

No one could possibly dislike The Stokehouse so no need to go on about it.....except to say it probably had The Best Waiters and Waitresses I've ever known at a Corporate function. There was no delay ever in catching their attention and being provided for very promptly. And I wasn't the only person who made that observation!!

I’m giving 1 star by default as it’s not possible to rate this place with 0 star. Literally scammy vibes here… it was so enjoyable to only realize the $2 oyster deal was not available… when the bill was handed to us. Of course the waiters are not going to mention the conditions of the oyster deal at any point, while we were clearly ordering oysters for the oyster deal. We felt fooled and upset. What a great experience. Be careful it’s not a cool place although it’s in a cool spot at the sea side. To top it off, table / chairs give a fast food furniture vibe, so no chance to feel cozy or comfortable to enjoy a $20 aperol.

Our server is amazing. She was on spot, show up at the right times, gave us a in-depth description of the menu and promptly shows up to assist us all the time. We felt like we were eating at the comfort of our homes. My friend thought the food were on a small portion but food quality and taste is definitely top notch. Personal favorite is the oysters and Ricotta gnudi and pumpkin, side will be the grilled beans with almond. Will definitely return to try the other offerings on their menu.

Located just across st Kilda beach. Well lit restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. Service was efficient and polite. Was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the dishes. The veal schnitzel was juicy and tender and not too oily. The gnocchi was cooked perfectly and the sauce was nice and creamy. Priced appropriately for the amazing location. So peaceful having some dinner while watching the beautiful sunset.

When we arrived, the waitress asked if we had a show to go to after dinner so that they could ensure the food came out promptly and we wouldn’t be late for our show. This was a thoughtful gesture and greatly appreciated! The communication from the staff was amazing, our meals were full of flavour, stunning views and great atmosphere. Service was great! The place has a lovely vibe, gorgeous sage green walls lined with bottles of wine & a charming fireplace by the bar. However food was lacking compared to when I dined here previously in 2022 during my last trip to Melbourne. Back then, the pastas were rich & generous. Now, they lack in sauce and flavour. We had a lamb ragu rigatoni with very little lamb or ragu/sauce. And the king prawn spaghetti was very plain, a miss in terms of flavour profile. The tiramisu however, was delicious. Perhaps, the main reason why I will choose not to visit again though, is the service. The waitress lacked warmth and felt abrupt/rude. I’d had fond memories of my first visit but unfortunately, my second visit did not feel the same.

Lovely place with good food and good service. Worth the price. Try to avoid seating next to the large window. The reason I didn’t include the photos of main dishes was I was in shock by the presence of a “person” staring at us while signaling that he/she wants to eat. His/her face looks cold and scary. The staff was quick to handle the situation by providing a meal outside. I felt sad to see and sorry for the business owner to endure such incident.

This is one of the most beautifully simple dining room in Melbourne - nothing too fancy or wanky. Service is top notch - wait staff are really generous and sincere in their recommendations. The food is amazing - the pasta dishes were creative and delicious. I sincerely have forgotten what exactly were the name of the dishes we ordered but they were good. We ordered a steak to follow our pasta and the steak was perfectly cook. The scotch steak cut was so well-marbled, juicy and tender. It is a definitely must-try pasta joint in Melbourne and also a place worth many subsequent re-visits.

Beautiful Italian meals made by Italians chefs… and it makes the difference ! One of the best Italian food I have ever tasted ! 🤩 We went for lunch and everything was here to make us have a lovely time. A soft autumn light we were able to enjoy in the outside terrace, a good selection of wines and some advices to make us choose our meals. About the food… nothing to say more than “So good!”. Good Pasta Selections Park Street has a unique menu with tasty sides and meats. They cooked the pasta well, but I find it hard to find something to make me come back. The Prawn Spaghetti has one of the most unique tasting sauces based on the bisque, but it has a burn aftertaste which I suspect is coming from the burnt butter. If executed properly, I think this could be the homerun dish. On the other hand, the fish was pan-fried well, but the combination of the calamari salad and the sauce just stands alone on its own. The staff, on the other hand, were excellent, and the restaurant was clean and gave off good vibes. Overall, I had a decent experience with the meal and will recommend trying it to see if they execute the meal better the next time around.

The atmosphere at the restaurant is absolutely amazing — very luxurious and elegant! The staff are polite, friendly, and provide great service. However, the food was quite disappointing. The quality felt poor and very average, with no difference compared to a regular, non–fine dining restaurant. We ordered eight different meals, and unfortunately, none of them stood out. This was our second visit, and I honestly feel that our first experience a couple of years ago was much better. We also ordered dessert with ice cream on the side, but the ice cream tasted a bit off. A few hours later, I experienced stomach pain and spent the night unwell. Considering the high prices, the food quality and overall value for money were very underwhelming. For what you pay, you’d expect much better consistency and flavour. Overall, the setting and service were lovely, but the food quality and value need significant improvement — especially for a restaurant of this standard.

We recently celebrated our mother’s 71st birthday at Society, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is stylish and welcoming – a perfect setting for a special occasion. The food was amazing, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every dish we tried was outstanding. What made the evening even more memorable was the staff. They were warm, professional, and attentive, making us feel truly looked after throughout the night. It was clear they cared about creating a great experience for us. We had the lamb and it was amazing, so as the truffle mac and cheese. I also love the extensive wine list that this place offer too. However, I was a little disappointing about the service. We were offered a drinks menu at the start, which was amazing by the way, but then takes forever for us to even get offered a menu. Then we ordered a glass of wine to pair with the food but it took such a long time that all of the food has already getting cold. Overall, we had a mid tier experience for such a high end restaurant

Came here for early dinner and ordered some canapes, two entrees and a dessert. The canapes were luxurious bite size snacks which all taste pretty good; ingredients were fresh including the the wild prawn and crab meat. The abalone risotto was rich and cheesy with a nice touch of pepper but the abalone was very thinly sliced which doesn't add much substance to the dish. The veal roulade has a crispy crumbed coating and the meat was tender and not gamy, the herby and citrusy flavour works well in the dish. For dessert, had the hazelnut and chocolate which was a condense ball filled with salted caramel, gianduja ganache and hazelnut praline; very sweet and decadent in a good way. Overall the meal was tasty and the service was good; price was quite expensive for the portion size.

Burger tastes alright because there’s way too much sauce on the burger. I was expecting fresh avocado but I got avocado spread and it was dark, which means it’s not made fresh but sitting in the fridge all day. Chicken tastes alright but not too fresh. Truffle cheese fries was ok. Didn’t really like spring onion in it, maybe chives would have been better. Cashier is nice.

Definitely worth the hype on google review! Went here on friday evening and was greeted warmly by a lovely lady. I ordered its jr sized burger of fatjak, jr sized of seasoned chips, and its golden gaytime waffles at the total cost of $35.60. It was only about 10 minutes for the order to get ready and served. I really loved how good the taste of the burger. The patties were definitely tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The chips were also seriously well seasoned and so good. The waffle? So so good! Despite all of them were only in jr sizes, they were absolutely enough for one person. I could not describe how good they were and you really have to try them yourself. I was really enjoying myself at the restaurant and feeling the vibes, with the musiz playing in the background. It was definitely worth the money and would come again! Recommended! 10/10! Loved it!

I had the **Fat Jak burger** and the **Luck of the Chook’n**, both were spot on – super fresh and full of flavour. The **chilli cheese and gravy loaded fries** were the perfect sides, adding an extra kick and richness. Also tried the **Mac & Cheese Bites** – crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, just how they should be! And for dessert, the **Nutella Loaded Donuts** were an absolute treat, warm, fluffy, and generously covered in Nutella. The **Lord of the Rings onion rings** were crispy and golden, the perfect snack to round out the meal. The vibe here is **casual and fun**, and the staff were super friendly. If you're looking for **big, bold comfort food**, this is the place to be! Definitely coming back for more! 😋🔥

I used to love very ordering from this place, but the food quality has gone down a lot in the last year. Mozzarella sticks are completely different from the picture, they are basically frozen coles brand and are not made by scratch as the picture implies. Servings are comically small and do not match pictures. Food frequently arrives cold regardless of the third party delivery you choose. They've also removed favorites like the Mac and cheese bites. Super disappointing.

Stopped by Fat Jacks to grab dinner for the family and had an awesome experience with Oz. His customer service and friendliness were outstanding, and he even threw in desserts for my dad’s birthday. second time visiting the prince and honestly have to say it was disappointing. The first put off was watching the chefs touch their hair, use their phones etc and then touch the food they were cooking - massive OHS breach! then i order the same thing i ordered last time - the minute steak, MEDIUM RARE and it came out half WELL DONE and half RARE - they had barley explained the concept of heat to my steak. the calamari had changed with no change to the menu this time it was deep fried ba the previous fresh. would not dine again, not work the price or health risks !

Great to see the streets of St Kilda coming back from years of issues with a bang! The new steak program was great, in house aging and cooked over coals. We got both a sharing rib-eye and the Japanese import steak to share and both were delicious with the parsley butter. Service friendly and bubbly. Plenty of classic pub menu items for those looking for casual eats too.

I visited Prince Public Bar in July 2025 while attending the Your Shot DJ competition, hosted at the Prince Entertainment Precinct and Hotel. I was so excited to cheer on my friend Daisa Heart, who was performing a set upstairs on the JB Stage. Before heading up, my partner and I explored the venue and eventually found our way down to the public bar and restaurant. We grabbed a free table and ordered quickly because we were absolutely starving. There were not a lot of options but there was a specials board that’s updated daily. My partner went for the chicken burger and chips, while I just got a serve of fries. I also ducked over to the bar and grabbed a glass of pineapple juice. Despite the venue being absolutely packed with people catching sets and flowing between stages, the bar staff were lovely. Everyone seemed to be in such high spirits and really helpful, even during the rush. The whole vibe was upbeat, with Red Bull sponsoring the event and a whole line up of fun drinks and shots being promoted. I’m pretty sure we ordered via QR code on the table, and a text came through when our food was ready to pick up from the serving window. Service was so quick and though the staff apologised for the wait it was no longer than five to ten minutes. The fries were a bit average with not much seasoning and no sauce but the burger was a hit. My partner raved about it being juicy, well seasoned, and topped with fresh salad and a tasty sauce. The venue itself felt pretty exclusive on the night, with most external entrances closed off for the event, but once inside, it was surprisingly spacious. Even with big crowds and a DJ playing nearby, it never felt cramped. There are a few ways to get in either from the street, through the restaurant area, or via the hotel foyer, which also links up to the bathrooms. It felt like the kind of space that probably serves breakfast to hotel guests in the mornings and opens to the public on weekends. Overall, I really appreciated the great service and the atmosphere, even in the middle of a massive event, it felt relaxed and well run. I’d definitely recommend stopping in if you’re checking out the Prince precinct or exploring nearby St Kilda. There’s heaps to do in the area, with bars, restaurants, and entertainment spots all around. Parking can be found in nearby alleys and small paid lots, and trams run regularly through St Kilda, making it easy to get to.

It was a sunny afternoon and we were greeted by Rhys. What a pleasure! He was so attentive and very careful in every detail for my partner and I! We ordered a couple of beers and then the afternoon kicked off! Haha if you want to see some of the funniest magic tricks you have ever seen, just ask Rhys at the bar! You will not be disappointed! 😉 He should be paid for! Thank you again and we look forward to visiting soon. 😊

$12 for a ham and cheese toastie that was cooked by the bar staff and not the kitchen is excessive. It was overcooked because the poor bar tender ‘cooking’ it was also serving others and obviously couldn’t keep an eye on it after whipping it out the fridge in the bar. It was also very greasy, dripping in butter. If you’re coming for breakfast choose something that has to be cooked fresh.

Legendary brunch, bit of a wait but worth it truly. Food made with love and luxe ingredients.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful dining experience at Ishizuka. The food was beautifully presented and tasted just as good as it looked. Each dish felt like a thoughtful work of art, with delicate flavors and a beautiful sense of balance. The pacing between courses was perfect, enough time to appreciate each one without feeling rushed. I highly recommend the non-alcoholic drink pairing, it elevated each course and was absolutely worth it. We will definitely be returning!! One small note: we arrived less than 10 minutes early, as did a few others, and it felt a bit awkward having to stand and wait to be seated. It would be great if there were a more welcoming protocol for early arrivals.

A great experience from the moment you walk in. Everything from the food, presentation and service was amazing. The Kaiseki menu was a perfect amount of food with each dish carefully prepared and explained upon serving. Would highly recommend for a special occasion.

Great experience with an exceptionally well-curated collection of dishes. Although I’ve been to fine dining restaurants of different cuisines around the world, I’d still place Ishizuka at the very top after what I experienced last night. If you enjoy Japanese omakase, this is the place you’ll want to visit in Melbourne.

We were here six years ago and were impressed by the experience, this place continues to deliver great food and great service. Their seasonal menu is packed with interesting dishes that includes oyster, Otoro sushi, caviar, tempura, crab meat, A5 wagyu beef from Kumamoto, green lip abalone (for those chose not to have beef), Murray cod, duck and dessert. They have a good wine and sake selection, we went with two types of sake that complement the dishes well. They are using a bit more local ingredients like seafood but still getting some top products from Japan (like beef and blue fin tuna) There’re only 12 counter seats, the chef and team cook right in front of us so it’s really enjoyable to see how it’s all done. The service is attentive and polite, really feel pampered. It’s advisable to be slightly early as to enjoy the whole experience, there’s a nice waiting area. We’ll be back for the next season’s menu.

Cannot rate this place highly enough. The food was so surprising and unique. The chefs are a joy to watch and the atmosphere is so exclusive. Highly recommended to anyone looking for amazing Japanese food in Melbourne.

Loved the Kaiseki winter menu at Ishizuka. The miso soup with grilled mochi was my favourite; warm and full of flavour, perfect for the winter weather. The wagyu was also amazing.

Came for the kichi kichi special collab. Very well organised and presented. Love the drinks pairings and wished for more
