The Museum of Prehistoric Thera is a small but impressive archaeology museum located in the picturesque capital of Santorini, Thira. Divided into four units, the museum showcases ancient artifacts from different periods of the island's history, including the Late Neolithic to the Late Cycladic period and the mature Late Cycladic period.
Very good. Being indoors was a bonus so you're not in the sun! Found out afterwards that you can buy a ticket which includes the museum in Fira but the cost isn't too much when buying separately. Staff were very friendly. Unfortunately when we visited we were not able to walk between the ruins due to the earthquakes earlier in the year and the possibility of more but still an amazing visit.

Beautiful! The frescoes are awe-inspiring. Good interpretation and lots to enjoy. I really enjoyed my visit to this museum!
Hannah S — Google review
An interesting, small museum — the visit will take less than an hour. The €10 entrance fee is greatly overpriced. There’s a toilet inside, but it’s poorly cleaned and has an unpleasant smell. The air conditioning barely works, making the halls stuffy, especially on the basement level. Nice place, but too expensive.
Anastasiya P — Google review
Great museum! All the artifacts nicely laid out with excellent lighting and descriptions in English. It was very neat to see the ancient artwork! Just be sure to also visit the ancient ruins in Akotiri. It pulls it altogether and completes the journey you will experience!
Lisa K — Google review
Great small museum (which is a plus, since there are a lot to do in Santorini) containing artifacts from Santorini's bronze age. The fresco excavated from the ancient Akrotiri are stunning and it's worth visiting the museum just to see them.
Andrey K — Google review
Fascinating museum that we went to the day after going to Akrotiri and so so saw the artifacts and wall paintings that were found at that site and referred to in the information boards around the site. Beautiful things, their homes must have been stunning - or at least those of the better off. The museum shows them off really well. Not huge - took us around an hour - but well worth seeing. Puts the site in context.
Anna H — Google review
Very nice exhibition. You can see and try to imagine how life in ancient Greece looked like. Exhibition is not big but worth seeing.

The museum was the highlight of Akrotiri visit! Amazing ancient history of the Minoans and Cycladics! Must see if you visit Akrotiri!

The Archaeological Museum of Thera, located in the capital of Fira, Santorini, is a treasure trove of ancient artifacts. It showcases a wide range of archaeological finds including vases, frescoes, sculptures, and inscriptions from different periods such as Archaic to Roman. The museum also features vessels dating back to the Geometric until the Hellenistic Era.
Nice small museum in the middle of the shops. Great air conditioning! 30-60 experience.
John A — Google review
A small museum with some great exhibits, however the museum experience would be greatly enhanced if they provided WiFi for visitors as it is not possible to download the app or use the audio guide without WiFi and without the audio guide the visitor experience is limited. The staff were not welcoming or friendly and said WiFi was for staff only. It is a also a pity that the best antiquities from Santorini are in the Archaeological Museum in Athens.

I just visited the exhibition “Kykladitisses: Untold Stories of Women in the Cyclades" It will last until the end of October. The museum just finished renovation in June. It looks quite different with the old one.
Michael N — Google review
This museum is a must see for lovers of the ancient world. The display cases are well organized and signage is all in Greek and English. The most remarkable exhibit is on the lower floor, with astonishing frescoes from Akrotiri.
L L — Google review
Quite disappointing; small with maybe two or three important items to see. But there is more to come! There is a whole new side to it. So maybe in the future will be better. Not too polite staff.
Nicoleta G — Google review
All travellers with an interest in ancient art should make a concerted effort to visit the impressive and fascinating exhibition at the Archaeological Museum of Thera. It focuses on "the roles, representations, and daily lives of women in the Cycladic islands from prehistory through antiquity". In the first place there is now on display a remarkable group of important and unusual works, many of which are truly beautiful. Most of these works have been loaned by numerous Cycladic museums and by major museums of Crete and Athens. (It is wonderful that so many institutions have collaborated so effectively.) Of course, several fine works from the museum's own permanent collection are on display. Secondly, these works of art are beautifully displayed in a throughly contemporary manner in recently renovated galleries. Moreover, the English-language explanations and labels are clear and helpful. What is also special is that the exhibition has a clear focus, namely the roles of women in the Cycladic Islands. Fortunately the approach is broad and not dogmatic; the topics addressed include religion, beauty, domestic activities, sex, violence, and legal status. In short, the works on display are beautiful and fascinating.
John H — Google review
Very interesting! Has artifacts from many different time periods. Audioguides are available
Olga F — Google review
Um ... This is just... Nope... It's neither archeological nor a museum, technically this is a galerie you pay 10 eu to get in and only has women from all history, both archeological history and recent. What does french paintings and iconographise from the 18th century have to do with archeology? And nothing on santorini. I feel i learned nothing in there other than the fact that there is violence against women. All the exibits just said that time and again, and 80% of them weren't even from santorini but from the rest of greece. Really dissapointed, really not worth it. The subject could have been one part of the exhibition, not the whole "museum".

Bus station
Firostefani Bus Station is located along a picturesque walking route that offers stunning views of the inland plains and the Aegean Sea. The station serves as a convenient starting point for exploring Firostefani and Imerovigli, as well as other nearby towns like Fira and Oia. It's advisable to begin your journey early in the summer to avoid the midday heat, and be sure to carry water with you.
Very small station for the size of the island, buses sometimes are not label with the routes or numbers …you cannot buy tickets in advance is cash only. The lady at counter is not very helpful buses from other towns in the island are not always on time. Be aware the buses look more like tourist coaches with air conditioning. They do speak English.
Ljubica B — Google review
Do yourself a favor and just walk to Fira. Buses didn’t show up. Use the paved main road, it is downhill to Fira and gravity will do the work so it is easy and fast even if you carry heavy luggage.

François-Xavier T — Google review
Update summer 2024. Bus doesnt stop here to go to Oia(the main road is closed for cars). You need to go to the main bus station in Fira or take a taxi for 30€
Kamila K — Google review
Not working June 2025, you need to go to Fira
Robert F — Google review
Do not entrust your holiday travel to this shambolic excuse for a bus station. As I write this now, we're have been sat for an hour and 10 minutes for a service that is supposed to be every 30 minutes. We are expected to wait a further 20, but we know it won't arrive by then either. There's little shelter and zero system or organisation. Yes it's cheap, but what you save in euros you will piss away in sweat and valuable holiday time.
Gina-Maria M — Google review
This bus is not used during the summer., so said two different nearby vendors. I did not see any buses on the this road the first week of may 2023. The bus supervisor at the fira station told me it was a 5minute walk to here. It was 45 minutes, 3km, up hill. With heavy luggage. The bus staff lie to me many times.
Dell O — Google review
Fantastic bus stop! I’d heard so many amazing things about this bus stop from my friends who had visited santorini in the past and I thought to myself “this cannot be missed!”. I booked accomodation close to the bus stop so I could visit it every day and boy was I impressed! The sunset from the bus stop is to die for, and the seats are comfortable enough to sit on for approximately 45-60 minutes. Didn’t actually catch a bus from here, but boy did it look like that was possible! I give 5 stars for the sheer beauty of the bus stop, and 1 star due to the fact that I didn’t catch a bus. Final rating : 3

Skaros Rock is a centuries-old castle ruin perched on a rugged outcrop, offering breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea. This long-lost citadel in Santorini is a romantic and secluded spot to witness the mesmerizing sunset, steeped in the island's rich history and imposing atmosphere. Accessible via a steep track, it provides an ideal vantage point for admiring the glorious sunset.
Great little hike not for those who need assistance. It is a hiking trail that is at the bottom of a very steep set of concrete steps. I would estimate about 100 steps to get to the bottom so you can then transfer to a gravel trail. I loved the hike and the exercise it was excellent and absolutely what I anticipated.. I will just say that it is NOT for the folks who would need assistance.
Brian L — Google review
Lovely place to go for a short hike of roughly 60 minutes. The views from the rock are breathtaking and best to hike it in the morning (especially during hot summer months) when you get plenty of shaded area on the other side of the rock with lots of breeze thay feels quite refreshing. There is a lovely church on the back side and lots of amazing view points.
P S — Google review
I climbed Skaros Rock last year and again this year, right to the base of the summit. Below is the pretty Panagia Theoskepas Chapel. I wanted to reach the top of the rock, but I haven't found the access path yet. However, I regularly see people at the very top. Tourists without climbing gear! How do they manage? I would like to succeed. Despite everything, a beautiful landscape unfolds before us. Simply magnificent...
M-Francoise C — Google review
This is one of the best hiking trails in Santorini. It’s not very long but includes some ups and downs — part of the trail goes through village stairs and part over rugged terrain. The views are stunning, and on the rock itself, you can see the remains of an ancient fortress. A truly recommended hike!
Hila — Google review
A great hike that is definitely not for those in need to assistance. We walked from Santorini Princess so it was all in all good cardio. From actually starting the Skaros Rock trail to the second church in the other side of the point and back it took about 1 hour and another 1/2 hour for taking pictures, but my partner and I were setting a fast pace. BRING/WEAR TENNIS SHOES IF YOU WANT TO MAKE IT ARUBD THE ROCK TO THE SECOND CHURCH COMFORTABLY. Lots of stairs and lots of places to go off trail, and even up the rock if you are adventurous. Very beautiful hike!
Gaby O — Google review
Very nice hike to do early in the morning, before the Sun gets too far overhead, we didn't quite make sunrise, but we were only about an hour behind walk through the city down a secret stairway and descend down to skaros rock... I will highly recommend wearing some good. Hiking shoes or very good. Equipped running shoes with extra grip as the terrain is loose gravel and some pretty Steep inclines also some steep declines, so be prepared, have water and take breaks, but if you walk out all the way to the Inn, there is a little blue domed church that you cannot see from the city itself highly recommend taking this walk. Very quiet, very peaceful, exceptionally, beautiful. The only place we took a hike where you feel like you're out in the ocean closest point to the Volcano. Simply magic go now.
LAND R — Google review
Totally worth the hike down. Apparently used to be an epic Medieval castle that’s now ruins. A little sketchy in spots - be careful by the edges of course - but otherwise not that difficult to walk around. Great view inside the caldera and of the volcano. Bring some water for the hike back up 😅
Lee P — Google review
A unique place in Santorini where one can watch the sunset avoiding the many tourists that infest the island. The area is recommended for photographers and for relaxation. It is advisable to visit it in the evening in summer months to avoid the extreme heat.

Bad experience! Be careful, better ask for the price before paying! I bought the bottle of white wine in the picture, assuming is either 4,69 eur, either 8,95 eur. I paied with the credit card and after, I saw on the bill it was acually 13,95 eur. So, I went back to see why I paied that much for it. The answer was that she didn't have time to put the price on it and the prices there were for other wines. So, I wanted to give back tha wine and take another one but she said she cannot give me the diffrence back, as I paied with the card.

Nestled in the heart of Fira, the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist stands as a testament to Santorini's rich history and architectural beauty. This Catholic cathedral, originally constructed in 1923 and later renovated after an earthquake in 1956, showcases exquisite 18th-century decor and intricate sandstone architecture. Its stunning painted ceilings are a feast for the eyes, making it a must-visit landmark while exploring this vibrant island.
Really beautiful church and cathedral. We came on Palm Sunday and there was a mass on at 10am. It was mix of locals and tourists there. Father was so welcoming and greeting everyone. Mass was mainly in Greek and some parts (bible reading and .. ) were read in English. Really happy to be part of the celebration today.
Shanu D — Google review
We visited during the off-season and were lucky to find the cathedral empty and peaceful. After walking from the center of Fira, it was the perfect spot to rest. The interior is calm and serene — a truly soothing space that felt spiritually refreshing. A lovely stop in town.
Alec T — Google review
There's nothing I enjoy better than visiting a church. This one was on a hill (like most of Greece) lol. It wasn't crowded at all. I went inside to light a candle and found it to be so peaceful. It was quiet and as the signs on the outside stated, "a stress free zone". I truly loved it here.

Beautiful cathedral! 10am mass 3rd Sunday of Easter. Father greeted all before and asked couples how many years they had been married and at the end had one couple (47 yrs) and another (5 days) join him for a blessing at the pascal candle and then blessed all marriages.

We visited Fira on a Sunday afternoon. The cathedral is beautiful! The cathedral was open for visitors. Signs on the door ask that you be quiet and remove your hat. The inside was so peaceful. It is a quiet place for reflection and/or prayer. There are candles which you can light. Simply beautiful! There is no fee to visit.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars – Holy Cathedral of Fira (Santorini, Greece) The Holy Cathedral in Fira is absolutely beautiful and rich in history. The architecture is stunning, and the peaceful atmosphere makes it a must-see while in Santorini. Whether you stop in for quiet reflection or simply to admire the art and views, it’s a truly special place that captures the island’s spirit.

Sunday Mass was at a consistent time of 10:00 AM as posted. The priest and community was very welcoming to tourists and had a translator assisting. There were multiple worship aids in various languages that followed along that particular Sunday. All were encouraged to respond in their own language. After Mass the priest gave blessings to married couples. The music was also beautiful.

Absolutely stunning. Inside you will find the most amazing artwork, and it so peaceful and beautiful. They welcome anyone that wants to go in. They allow you to take photos just flash photography is prohibited and this is very likely to protect the amazing and probably historical artwork. The curtains are drawn inside. It has 3 doors to enter and exit welcoming all to enter. I’m a Sikh and went in with my family we all said a prayer and lit a candle. God’s house is open to everyone. Must visit!

This is the big, beautiful white church you can see from almost anywhere along the cliffs in Fira. The courtyard is peaceful and offers some incredible, sweeping views of the caldera. It's a great place to take a moment away from the busy main paths. The architecture is stunning, especially the contrast of the pure white walls against the blue sky. You don't need to spend a lot of time here, but it's a must-see landmark while exploring Fira.

Accessible only by swimming, this charming church offers not just spiritual solace but also an exhilarating cliff jumping spot nearby. While many flock to the area for its stunning emerald waters and unique hot springs—famed for their striking red hue—the church itself stands as a testament to history and beauty.
Very nice, swimming in 60 meters depth was a thing I would never imagine, but I know, it sounds scary, though it's so beautifull
Melio — Google review
Didn't manage to get to it because we were in a boat 🛥 trip and everyone in shorts or bakine swimming near the church ⛪ but not to attempt to go in it if for anything is being respectful to the church. It would be to arrange or include trip to the church and have people wearing suitable dress code. This church is old now and sure a lot of people would like to visit and see it and explore it. During our visit there was a man in the ground of the church so it must be looked after by some one or some group.

This small quaint isolated church probably doesn’t get a second glance when people are in the “rusty” warmer water - the reason most people are brought here by the many tour boats. The water was not like “hot springs” and the bottom is very slushy. Pity about the reddish mud-graffiti on the surrounding rocks.
Vincent O — Google review
The church is beautiful but like most others I came here to swim in the hot spring. It was a short swim from the boat mooring and you had to be careful because of the rocks. I'd recommend wearing water shoes.

Beautiful place on the edge of the Valcano and the natural geasers. Great place to hop into the water to take a swim.

Pretty. Right next to the famed 'hot springs', which weren't very hot but were very RED! Amazing.
Kate B — Google review
A unique experience swimming from the cool seas to the muddy scum of the iron rich hot springs

Great place to enjoy swimming...emerald green water makes for great shots

Greek Orthodox church
San Antonio The Unsung is a hidden gem that offers an unforgettable experience for travelers seeking both luxury and breathtaking views. Guests rave about the exceptional service, with personalized touches like suite upgrades and complimentary wine to celebrate special occasions. The scenic Fira-Oia hiking path leads you past charming boutique hotels and culminates at a quaint church perched on a cliff, providing stunning vistas perfect for sunset watching. This picturesque route is not only beautiful but also well-maintained, making it ideal for leisurely exploration.
On the Fira-Oia hiking path, pass the luxury boutique hotel, pass the dusty parking which is in front of the boutique hotel (they have a great view through the cars yes), walk down the path until the little church. Stay, wait for the sunset. You welcome! (In case of necessary human breaks from watching such a divine show, at the end corner there's a loo. Shhh)

This place was amazing!!! My wife and I have been fortunate enough to visit many hotel in the past few years, I must say this was our favorite!! When I booked the hotel I called them to explain it was for my wives 40th, they told me not to worry they would make it special and boy did they. They upgraded us to a suite and had a bottle of wine with some welcome treats for us. We were even able to check in early. The treatment was First Class all the way. On the day of check out we couldn't stay in the room past check out because other guest were coming in, so they booked us the Spa for an hour all to ourselves for us to relax shower and get ready to head home. Everything you see in the pictures are 100% accurate and more. Enjoy your stay, Thank you San Antonio

(Translated by Google) Truly particular view, ask to take a dive, a sunken boat of at least 40 meters at just 5 meters deep awaits you, mask, fins and underwater camera highly recommended. I recommend ANEMOS for tourist tours, even private ones, it will treat you really well.
