Wonderful hostel in San Martin de los Andes. Everything was clean, great kitchen and everyone was super helpful. Would highly recommend.

Wonderful homely hostel with great owners. Huge space out the back for motorbikes, very secure, plenty of grass and space to spread out. Dorms are humble but sufficient. Nice breakfast, homemade bread and a colourful, creative and friendly atmosphere inside the hostel. Loved how it was styled and decorated. Would return a thousand times!

Good: Garden, kitchen, staff. Bad: Squeaky bed, old mattresses, all furniture is worn, no love or thought for comfort was put into the place. Everything looks old and dirty. Value for money: only paid 20% more in Bariloche for a 200% better hostel. Since there is very little competition in SMA you don't have much of a choice.

Stayed for 3 nights and it was ok, not sure i would returned to this hostel. Summary of key points: Room - plenty of space and fairly clean. Bed - comfortable enough, moving around on top bunk does really shake the beds Wifi - wifi across the hostel, but sometimes loses connection. Power and lighting - plug socket and lighting at your bed which was great, only the bed light does light up the whole room. Breakfast - free breakfast but it isn't very good, substandard coffee, cornflakes and pre-toasted cold bread with a few spreads. Wheres the fruit!! Not great. Shower - shared facilities but were good, warm showers but no lock on mens door upstairs, female has a lock. I did find the water pressure drops in and out sometimes. There is only 1 shower and toilet upstairs for a lot of guests, more are downstairs next to the eating area. Security - hostel entrance is secure but rooms are unlocked, a locker is provided for valuables with your own padlock, this will fit a 65l bag in Laundry - yes but VERY expensive, they told us $350 for a bag and after it was finished they demanded $700 because it was slightly over 3kg. If they said $700 before then we wouldn't have bothered doing it here. Total rip off. Tours - reception is helpful with giving you advice, about activities and the local area. Cooking - kitchen facilities for self catering are good enough to cook a meal in. Common room - large common area is ok but lacks comfortable seating, a couple of hammocks are in the messy garden. Atmosphere - very chilled and laid back. Location - Nice neighbourhood, we felt very safe walking around even at night. Bars and restaurants around here are really expensive, but is a few cheaper options for eating out, but more 'takeaway' type food Cost - it is a bit steep, $850 pecos if you pay directly with the hostel for a 4 bed dorm, I would expect more for the money, or just a cheaper price. There were tools in the drawers although it didn’t look the most clean. The room also had an exit to a garden. The room is equipped with an alarm system which is great. The cons were that the heating system was not working. The room had a strange smell and wasn’t the cleanest. The bathroom looked very old and in general it can use some improvements. We also didn’t get any towels. In general it’s a nice place with quiet good value for money, but there is a place for improvement in the rooms.

The hostel is huge with a lot space to hang out , near by the Mirador with a beautiful morning view. Lake and the bus station are a few minutes walking distance. Everything was pretty clean, rooms have their own with private bathroom, nice kitchen and garden. Thanks!

Rukalhue is much bigger than I expected. The check in process was smooth and the host was friendly. The rooms are clean and have a bbq area right outside. The community kitchen and dining area is huge, perfect for large groups or just meeting new people. It’s only a couple of blocks from the playa and the town plaza. The only negative was that the wifi wasn’t working well, so my phone kept dropping off. Otherwise, great hostel at a great price.

Pros: quiet street, good staff, good breakfast, hot showers. Cons: bathrooms a little old, few outlets in room, no wifi in room, no off street parking. Little pricey but probably not for San Martin. Would stay again.

Bike Hostel San Martin truly has been a great experience. Clean , lovely ambiance, wonderful showers, good kitchen and bike storage . Laura and Pilly truly proud caring owners .

What an amazing hostel. Clean. Spacious. Amazing crew. Hipster look and feel. Not only young people (I’m in my 40’ies) but different ages. I did not feel old here :) Only thing I did not liked is that I only stayed for 1 night. If I return I will definitely stay longer. Highly recommended

I would not support a business that cannot stand criticisms and behave nastily towards guests who write honest reviews. The below is my original review. "Pros: nice common room and kitchen, very clean generally. Nicholas was very pleasant. Cons: the hostel is located on a main street and the sound insulation is poor, as such the rooms facing the street are very noisy at night. The door of the dorm I stayed in was broken and you had to slam the door to close it properly, no one seems to care enough to fix it. Easy to find. Easy to check in. The apartment was very spacious. It had one WC with shower and one full bathroom including decent sized bath(the ensuite of main bedroom). Kitchen seemed well equipped but we went out to eat so can't comment much. Place was very quiet with the murmur of the river a nice relaxing soundtrack overnight. Dropped a star because heating can't be controlled in the apartment itself, only reception can control it seems. They were responsive when we asked it be turned down as the place was too hot but really heating is so subjective it really should be at the guests discretion when they turn it up/down and to what temp. Even after it was modified we still slept with the windows open because it was very warm still, seemingly because the heat was on all the time. Other than that, would definitely recommend and it's great value for money. It's walking distance to centre of town also.
