Italian restaurant
Ca' de Vèn is a historic gem in Ravenna, offering a taste of Romagna cuisine in a medieval wine store. The 15th-century setting adds to the allure, making it a must-visit spot. Locals flock here for lunch to savor piadine and grilled dishes like tagliata di pollo. The Enoteca Ca de Ven is renowned for its piadina, a thin flatbread that can be enjoyed plain or filled with various ingredients.
We are in Ravenna for one night, and we chose Ca De Ven for our evening meal. We walked in without a reservation, and my Italian is limited, so I was trepidatious for the challenges we might face. I needed not worry, for the lady at the front desk was very nice to us and though the place was packed, we were seated within two minutes. Our waiter was a really cool guy probably in his 20s or 30s, and his demeanor and service were excellent. We had a delicious grilled piadina with mozz and tomato as our appetizer. It was like $6 and would have made a tasty lunch on its own. My entree was the tortelli (Americans: good-sized tortellini) alla ragu. Here, as it likely is in much of northern Italy, “ragu” means Bolognese sauce. And let me tell you, the Bolognese at Ca de Ven was just magnificent — the slow cooking of the meat just made it so tender. I am addicted to Parmigiano, but frankly this did not need it. My GF had the vitello (veal strip steak) with melt-in-your-mouth roasted potatoes and a small salad. That was a great plate! She added a side of gratinated eggplant, zucchini, and tomato which was… incredible. Alas, her eyes were bigger than her stomach, so we’ll be finishing her meal for lunch tomorrow. lol My only regret is that i could not tip my waiter — cash tips only, and i still have not drawn euros from an ATM. Next time, my man. Next time. Go to Ca de Ven when you’re in Ravenna. Tell them I sent you.

i had a really amazing experience here. i was struggling to find a restaurant in ravenna that offered both fair prices and good quality, but this place turned out to be a great choice. the servers were very kind, and the restaurant itself is beautiful, with different areas all nicely decorated. the only downside was the lack of air conditioning, which made the atmosphere a bit hard to enjoy at times. the pasta and the cassone were both excellent, and the grilled vegetables were generous and high quality. the dessert options looked fantastic too, but it was simply too hot to enjoy one this time.
Elena M — Google review
This is an amazing place. It’s full of locals, great food and very friendly service. There are frescoes on the ceilings, a lot of local specialties in terms of both food and wine. We had budino (probably one of the best appetizers I ever had), storzapretti and some antipasti. Highly recommend!

This location brings you back in time. I like the people, the time frame is brought in this moment so we can feel the medieval perfume. Food.. is like this 💖
Cosette B — Google review
A traditional local place in an old and beautiful building. We were seated within about five minutes or so. Starters were piadinas and ravioli, which came with the best ragu I've ever eaten and which, as we were sharing both starters, they happily split onto two plates. Mains were a nice mutton and an extremely good pork belly, rounded off with good coffee - of course. Would have returned if we'd had more time, as we wanted to try many more of their local dishes. €57 in total, we didn't order wine.
Jason H — Google review
April 2025.. it's simply the best restaurant in town...no doubts. Service great, even if you are alone. I took the " simple" chicken and rabbit. Not to much. But just great and enough for me. The wine by the glass. Really great. And very nice priced . Busy but no rush to get me out. Again.. if you are in Ravenna.. you must !! Get to this place Great restaurant. Very nice location. Great value and an very interesting menu. Nice wine selection. The woman at the checkout probably had a bad day. But for the rest all are very friendly. Ravenna is just a very beautiful place to be an all very friendly to the tourists.. a must do..
John S — Google review
Fantastic recommendation by a local friend of ours. We had a starter of ravioli al Ragu. The best I have tried. Then I had the pork belly and it was simply amazing. The restaurant had a lovely decor and great atmosphere. Great service. I would eat again and again here just to try EVERY dish. Shame we only had one day in Ravenna.

The food is amazing, with generous portions and fair prices — excellent value for money. The location is convenient, the atmosphere is beautiful, and the wine is truly outstanding.

L'Acciuga Osteria is a contemporary seafood restaurant that breaks away from tradition, focusing on the freshness of its fish dishes. The atmosphere is chic yet welcoming. Their menu features a variety of raw and cooked seafood dishes, including pink shrimp tartare, tuna carpaccio, and raw grey mullet with Borretana onions, anchovies, and celery root. Additionally, they offer creative cooked dishes such as crab buttons with mantis shrimp and burnt leek powder.
an absolutely joy of a place that serves delicious seafood, a variety of locally influenced dishes, and a very polite service. we had some of the best sardines, oysters and pasta dishes here while in Ravenna. the interior is quaint and similar to a ship, with interesting take on the various officers on board! loved the experience.
Indraneel B — Google review
We had the tasting menu here on a Thursday night and really enjoyed it. The service was excellent, and the food was fantastic. The deco is fun but also very classy. Highly recommended.
Julien P — Google review
L’Acciuga Osteria is a true culinary gem. Every course – from the delicate langoustine to the beautifully balanced anchovy pasta – was refined, creative, and bursting with flavor. The presentation was stunning, the ingredients top-notch, and the attention to detail impeccable. Honestly, I’d easily award them a Michelin star. And the dessert? The cherry on top – the perfect finish to an unforgettable meal. Let me know if you’d like it in a more casual or more formal tone for specific platforms like TripAdvisor, Google, or Instagram.

Lovely, comfortable room that strikes a great balance between stylish and relaxing. Food is similarly very well judged in its updating and refinement of classic Italian fish cooking. We had a cacio e pepe risotto with a layer of smoked eel lying in wait at the bottom of the plate. Amazing way to infuse the whole dish with a punch of salty, smoky flavour. We followed that with a pan of triglie and mixed vegetables. Subtle, all elements perfectly cooked, and just the prettiest fish dish I've ever eaten. Wonderful restaurant.
Victoria C — Google review
This was a really mixed experience. Lows: - My pregnant wife being served raw then undercooked langoustine successively. (It was a dish served undercooked but the waiter recommended it as an option reassuring us that they could modify the recipe to cook the langoustine through. My impression was that the chefs did not agree and stubbonly refused to cook the shellfish to a temperature suitable for a pregnant woman!) - Very strong flavour contrasts which mostly didn't work. (Mackerel with onion chutney, scorpion fish with a highly pungent bisque sauce, squid with an intense sabzi-esque dried spinach sauce, grouper with a fancy version of hoi sin sauce.) Really intense flavours which totally overwhelmed the fish. I wonder if perhaps the chef doesnt actually like fish? Certainly they are not interested in maximising the flavour of the fish served, but masking it with intense sauces. Or maybe the chef is a heavy smoker? And has lost the subtler parts of their palette. Regardless - most of the dishes, while interesting, were not actually nice or enjoyable to eat. - The price. The price undoubtedly reflects the considerable effort put into this food. But it feels more like a work in progress menu. Paying such a high price (€100 pp) stings when you don't really enjoy the majority of what you are eating. - Tiny amount of fish on each dish. (Except for the cerviche appetiser which was very generous). Highs: - The waiter was lovely and attentive. - The decor is beautiful and really imaginatively done - The wine is excellent and the waiter recommended great wines to go with the fish. - The first amuse bouche and the last (a selection of tiny pattiserie to be eaten in a specific order) were really outstanding and delicious. - The gurnard cerviche with grapefruit juice was the one time when the intense flavour contrasts worked brilliantly. It was  impressive and delicious. Overall, if you have money to burn and you want a bit of an adventure, then maybe this will be fun. But if you want to to guarentee enjoying everything - go somewhere more affordable which cooks things more simply and traditionally in a way which emphasises the flavour profile of the fish and almost certainly gives you more than a mouthful of fish per course!
Tyrrell J — Google review
Excellent fish restaurant but minimalistic presentation. Got the impression that staff are trying very hard to impress. It worked, we’d go again but front of house looked like he could do with some help. Beautiful food!

Fine dining sea food with great wine pairing. Service was welcoming, the sommelier explained the accompanying wines very good. The dinning room is a little funny, they've decorated the interior as if you'd be in a submarine.

Experience the timeless charm of Antica Trattoria Al Gallo 1909, a historic trattoria in Ravenna that has been lovingly run by the same family for over a century. The restaurant's Liberty-style decor, adorned with an array of objects and art, creates an enchanting ambiance.
you want to travel back to the early 20th century and to have the experience of the atmosphere of 1920s Italy, this place is a true time machine. The interior feels like a museum of that era — every detail tells a story, and the décor is crafted with incredible care- 6 stars. You won’t find anything remotely similar, even in the big cities — it’s truly a unique experience. The food is authentic, simple, and delicious — real Italian home-style cooking without any pretentiousness. Everything is served with warmth and attention. The service is excellent — friendly, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Highly recommended!

Lovely atmosphere and very tasty food. Staff has been awesome - very helpful with food and wine selection. Thanks for the nice afternoon at your charming place :)

One of the premier restaurants in Ravenna. Beautiful historic building with tasteful decor and a sumptuous green garden for the summer al fresco dining. Very nice food. Let us sit on a while though maybe because we didn’t realize that one went to the desk for an old style check out with our paper based menu choices. Really good nonetheless. Tad expensive but worth it. Wine recommendation worked well.

Absolutely wonderful from start to finish! This was our favorite restaurant in Italy - and we went to many! Authentic, beautiful and delicious with so many great choices on the menu. Their courtyard is absolutely beautiful and service was the best - we loved the seat they gave us right next to the window overlooking the courtyard. We met the owner who also gave me a book explaining the history of the restaurant - it has been in his family since 1909. Appetizers, entrees, bread, dessert and wine were all fabulously delicious and made with only the best ingredients. I very highly, highly recommend this restaurant in Ravenna!! Just wonderful!

The mussel ragu rigatoni was top notch! The cuttlefish dish was also perfectly tender. Refreshing change from the typical hearty heavy cuisine in this region

Osteria Passatelli is a contemporary trattoria located in the former Mariani theatre, offering a variety of Romagna dishes, including passatelli, piadine, cappelletti, pizza, and seafood. The restaurant provides a unique culinary experience with its open kitchen and live music. Additionally, it offers cookery classes for those interested in learning traditional pasta-making techniques.
Both the food and location are spectacular. The latter way better than my crap photos. I've had one of the best risottos in my life. And my friends were equally happy with their pastas and pizzas. The seafood platter was quite excellent, too. Make sure you book in advance, otherwise the wait is rather long.

I had pizza at Passatelli Restaurant in Ravenna and it was amazing. The crust was thin and crispy, the toppings were fresh and flavorful. The service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere very cozy. Definitely one of the best pizzas I’ve had in Italy — highly recommended!
Gökhan Ç — Google review
First - We walked into a small patio bar and we thought a few tables on the inside. They opened up double doors and we were amazed at the space! Then we felt so fortunate as on a huge screen it was broadcasting that the new Pope had been selected. The surround sound was awesome and the picture was clear. An incredible day in Italy and hailing from Chicago we felt giddy with gratitude. Our food was quite mediocre (may have been bad selection on our part!) I had slow cooked chicken breast w Romagna mustard sauce (which I think they forgot. It was dry w no mustard flavor. The jelly smear on the plate was sweet and didn’t match or help). He had Romagna style mixed grill w ribs Tender and good), pork belly (tough patty), sausage (excellent flavor), lamb skewer (tough pieces) Service took a very long time. But the atmosphere for tonight was perfect. We arrived to a big empty room but by the time we finished it was full. The menu states “Welcome to Passatelli 1962 where art, cinema, and culture have found their soul.” In the front room there are photos of many movie stars. The walls and shelves are overflowing with bottles and cases of wine.

Absolutely amazing food and top notch passatelli! Great friendly service and strong yet balanced cocktails. While not the cheapest place definitely worth the surroundings and quality of food. Would definitely come back when in Ravenna.

Only 4 stars relative to the other amazing food we had. A bit more crowded than some of the places we ate and prices a touch higher. Overall great food that will not disappoint. Recommend if you're in Ravenna

Loved it! Everything you expect from an authentic osteria. Our tabel was outside with was lovely, the inside had a whole different vibe but still looks amazing. Highly recommended!!
Wouter S — Google review
I’m giving this place 4 stars because the food was okay. Not bad. Not great. But okay. 5 stars for the ambience. This used to be a movie theater and is now transformed into a restaurant. The restaurant's decor and atmosphere often feature elements that pay homage to its history as a cultural and cinematic hub. Buon appetito.

Great lunch in Ravenna. Food is all homemade and beautifully presented. The pasta dishes were some of the best we had in Italy. I had a hand rolled spinach pasta on yummy pumkin puree with pumpkin seeds. Wow. The service was great. Highly recommend

A fabulous dinner to end our 3 day visit to Ravenna. This place is tucked away from the main streets. You’ll likely need to book in advance as it’s very popular for good reason. We used the online reservation. The menu selection was lovely, mostly oriented to fish but a couple of meat plates as well. Managed stater and main. No room for desert. Fully recommend this place.
Steve B — Google review
It rained all day, which dampened the mood a little and we wanted a culinary highlight that would justify leaving the house. Without further ado, we decided to make a reservation by phone. When we arrived, the typical flair of an Italian osteria gave us hope and the food and service were convincing. A small but varied selection - something for everyone. Elaborately prepared, but no overly extravagant combinations. Honest cuisine. Attentive, well-organised service. 1 star deduction for ambience - abandoned tables were not cleared for a long time and our table was wobbly. Price-performance ratio was very good from our point of view. An absolute recommendation!
Alexander G — Google review
Incredibile dinner - 5 people - 5 starters, 5 mains, 5 desserts - every single one of us regular diners out had an outstanding meal. Taking traditional into the 21st century. So grateful to our angel, Raffaella, who knows everything for the very good recommendation. Great welcome and friendly service from Fatima. Thank you for a great evening.
Hilary D — Google review
We really enjoyed the chef’s creativity combined with fresh ingredients. The service was warm and very knowledgeable about the menu and pairings. Such a cute and cozy environment. The Motown music just added to the ambiance. Must try’s are the anti pasta eggplant, ceviche and the codfish. The pistachio and chocolate semifrado and lemon gelato were out of this world.

Coffee Corte Cavour is a charming bar located in a beautiful square along Via Cavour in Ravenna. The atmosphere is lovely and friendly, with the owner occasionally entertaining guests by playing his guitar. Visitors can enjoy a delightful lunch or simply relax with a cup of coffee while taking in the picturesque surroundings.
Hidden gem. We came in the back way..ordered 2 cafe lattes. No waiting. Were offered pastries and as you can see from my image, quite a good selection. Within a few minutes, the empty cafe had 8 people milling about and bring served quickly by the 2 ladies waitresses. Cleanliness was foremost as 1 lady dusted the liquor bottles. There is a large seating area outside the main cafe serving area. 1 gentleman was sipping his coffee. It was a rainy weekday. To find the cafe from the main street, you have to walk through a courtyard of shops and there you will find it. Enjoy!!!

We were just passing after a long day of walking. There's a fountain inside which made us very relaxed. It's a hidden gem 💯 we had some lemonade with mint and ginger
Iane J — Google review
Let's start positive. Atmosphere was very good, now the negatives. There were like maximum 15 people and it was only one table served per 10 minutes, just shameful. We waited 20 minutes so we could order and then further 15 minutes to get our coffee. On the inside we saw nobody was doing anything and all staff was chatting along.

29 October 2022: We had lunch at Bar Caffe' Corte Cavour after a morning of sightseeing in town. Ravenna is a beautiful small with churches with fabulous mosaics. While walking around, I took a peek inside the courtyard. It was charming! There were a few empty tables, so we sat in the shade. We had a great lunch. I ordered the Ravioli di ricotta e spinaci con burro e salvia (ravioli filled with ricotta cheese, spinach, butter and sage), along with a glass of house white wine. It's one of my favorite dishes from the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. The ravioli was so tender, perfectly cooked. My husband had the Carpaccio di bresaola con rucola e grana (beef carpaccio with arugula and parmesan). It was a beautiful display of food. He enjoyed it along with his beer. This was a perfect spot for lunch in a lovely setting.
Monica P — Google review
I am a long-term Maps user, but I had never posted a review before. This one won't be pretty. Ravenna is a wonderful town, really worth a visit if you are particularly interested in ancient history and the development of Western Europe Christianity and its art. Our experience had been enjoyable all day... until we made a stop at the place. The reception was rude. The waitress yelled at us to place us at a specific table. The food was very average. My mediocre cooking skills would have been better than the terrible pasta we were served. Way overpriced as one could expect. The service took forever. After asking for the bill three times, I had to go inside if we ever wanted to leave this oppressing atmosphere. The reception was extremely cold at the cash. A man, presumably the owner or manager, gives me the bill in a very passive-aggressive manner. Once settled, I said goodbye. His answer was "It seems that way". Beautiful setting in a quiet yard away from the street. This is how tourists are caught. Everything else is the opposite of what the place looks like. I would stay away from this tourist trap.

Great place ! Very friendly and a good English menu if you need. I had the pork liver. Very well prepared..even a little link.. so not dry .. in strips. Which makes that not easy. Nice sort of sweet onions to it. Glas of very nice " home" wine 4.5 ! What a good deal. Service very friendly. For sure a place to visit.. make sure you make a reservation... it will get full. And fully understand... ps. I would not go for the 800 euro wine.. comes from France 😉🤣

Lovely little trattoria down a side street off the beaten track but near the historic Center. We stopped off for lunch greeted very warmly and seated quickly. We were just going to have some antipasto and cheese with their house wine which were all of good quality, but when we saw the various pasta’s coming out to other tables we decided to try them too! Lovely capeletti filled with Parmesan stuffing in a rich meat ragu were delicious, Tagliolini speck and radicchio also delicious and Capelletti with Parmesan cream and San Daniele ham equally very full of flavour. Very reasonable prices, very good friendly service and nice ambiance, can highly recommend

4,5 . A lovely family-run business serving a series of local dishes as well as meat based specialties. The friendly staff helped us pick a few dishes and they were spot on. Their slow-cooked braised meat was excellent, and my cheese-stuffed cappelletti were really good (maybe not as savoury as the more traditional meat sauce). The desserts we tried were also delicious, both the robiola (a type of local fresh cheese) pie and the zuppa inglese. Fairly priced for the quality of the experience.
Matteo B — Google review
The staff speak English quite well. The service is quite fast and clean. They have an excellent wine selection but a glass is 7 euro. The food is full of flavour. The meat dishes are especially delicious. The prices are perhaps a bit too high, and could be 2 euro cheaper. My cod in tomato ragu was 18 euro, but the cod was not fresh and was chewy. Desserts are nice but not out of the ordinary for 7 euro.

The atmosphere of the olden town is adding something special to the place. We were recommended the place as we were looking for traditional food and it did not disappoint. The waitresses were very sweet and polite. We did not speak italian and we made do with English. Excellent recommendation. The tiramisu is bomb.

Stop searching. You’ve found the place. I’ve been twice, both times exceptional. I had a rabbit so good I cried. The pasta and meat is terrific, and the salumi particularly good. Atmosphere authentic and charming, service familiar and delightful. Stop what you’re doing and go!

Visitors can enjoy freshly made pasta and piadina, as well as local specialties like cappelletti al ragu and crema di Ravenna paired with Solara Albana Romagna Passito.
This was a delicious restaurant. We had a four course meal here and I enjoyed everything bite. The dessert was my favorite. The servers are so kind and helpful. If you are in Ravenna, you should definitely try this restaurant. There’s plenty of seating and it was a wonderful experience.

Lovely place with a varied menu and a lot of tables. My pasta tasty but under cooked. The grilled vegetables looked great but tasted meh. Wine was good. Cold water. Good service.
David S — Google review
It’s a semi-casual restaurant that provides tasty and well portioned food. The pasta’s were pretty good and had one of the finest portions I have seen in Italy. The fish had good quality. Also we have ordered a green salad in the middle however, taste wise, it was not satisfying. They have really good house wine options which are local and tasteful, it definitely is a recommendation for the wines. Overall it’s an OK restaurant that can satisfy your evening with nice breezy air and vibe. I would suggest to try it yourself.

We had the most amazing experience here for lunch today. We sat outside on the balcony in a little window alcove and watched the world go by. The food was amazing, service from three different waiters was impeccable, the sizes were very generous and the prices were super affordable. I was so full after my first pasta dish that I actually canceled my main and went straight to dessert. Highly recommended

Tipped off by Marco (Ravenna local) and Lonely Planet, I took a table at La Gardela with a street view and dived into three plates. Best first: hand-made tortellini with ricotta and herbs in the house tomato-cream sauce — supple pasta, sauce just rich enough. 8/10. Then fresh squid and prawns with courgette frites, plus simple griddled tomatoes to test the produce: squid and courgette were spot on, prawns a shade over, frites under-seasoned. 6.5/10. Dessert, “Crema di Ravenna”, a set custard with caramelised orange — fine idea, needed more zest in the custard. 5/10.

Excellent food and an extensive wine list. We stopped in for lunch on a very hot day because it is air conditioned and were not disappointed. My wife had the lasagna and I had the ravioli stuffed with sea bass. Both were excellent, but the ravioli was otherworldly! We really enjoyed everything. The staff were very friendly and we had a really nice conversation with our waitress about Ravenna and the region. Highly recommended.

Ravioli filled with sea bass was standout for me. Service a bit rushed. Main out quickly after starter. Varied wine list was great.

Went there with my aunt! It was lunch time and it was full. We were served fairly fast by 2 different servers, but one kind of was cranky (it was hot, noisy and busy). The food we chose was really good and we all enjoyed it very much. We will definitely go back whenever we go back to visit my aunt.

Trattoria La Rustica is a charming and welcoming restaurant that offers a delightful selection of traditional Romagna dishes. The interior exudes a homely atmosphere, adorned with vintage household tools that harken back to simpler times. The menu boasts world-famous cappelletti, soft polenta with melted pit cheese, smoked goose breast, tortellini with meat sauce, and Romagna-style rabbit.
I have not had better food in my long stay in Italy. The restaurant was fully booked, but the owner reserved a table for us for an hour. I haven't had a better ragout with tortellini. This is how I imagine the pinnacle of Italian cuisine. I absolutely recommend!

We ate here tonight-fantastic experience. We arrived tired from a day of travel with our grumpy 5 year old and were treated wonderfully. Lovely warm people, patient with my così così Italian. And most of all AMAZING food. The bread basket alone is worth 5 stars. And everything that followed was even better. Highly recommend.

One of the best meals we have eaten in Italy. Pork fillet and lamb chops both superb. Excellent local Romagna wine. The owner was happy to chat to us and explain the food and wine. Excellent value for money. Small and cosy restaurant. I would recommend a reservation. Wish we had discovered it on our first night.

The store front is unassuming but what a gem once inside. It is a small modest resturant with a big heart. We were served by the owner Michele along with his wife. We met another couple and we shut the place down. 3.5 hours of perfectly cooked regional dishes paired with regional wines. I would highly reccommed reservations in advance.

Okay food. Service is kind of gruff. And sadly for them, the breeze doesn’t blow well into the street where they have their outdoor seating. Desserts were the best part of our meal. Skip the tasteless “Noci di Ravenna.” The pork cutlets with spinach were good.

A reco by our AirBnB hostess and we wandered in at 7:30 and promised to finish before 8:30 bc all tables were reserved. In that hour the whole place filled up with locals and we kept our promise to eat and run. The food was outstanding and priced reasonably based upon other reco’d eateries by our hostess that we walked by on the way to Piazza di Popolo. We split a salad, primi and secondi. Sparking water and some dry white wine for my love. Then one macchiato for me. Bill in photos. At 8:20 when we left the place was full and people ere waiting outside. This on a Tuesday. Reservations helpful.

We came here on our last day in Ravenna. The food was lovely, the staff were kind about our botched attempts at Italien, and the outdoor seating is in a quiet courtyard, away from the town hubbub and street noise so it was very peaceful. I would recommend this place for any number of reasons. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

We were sceptic when we first saw the place from outside. Really small entrance and nothing special. Walking inside we encountered a very different reality. Just outside the centre of Ravenna with its trendy eateries, this feels like an authentic family run restaurant. The menu seems to be verbal rather than on a piece of paper which adds to its charm. We came here for a birthday dinner. This restaurant is a great choice for an evening where you want something fancy without everything getting too formal or elaborate. We ordered the menu del mare, and were rewarded with a whole evening of beautiful small dishes that arrived at perfectly spaced intervals. I particularly loved my antipasto of monkfish wrapped in lardo, with artichoke and salmoriglio sauce. The other standout was probably the little macaron that came with a pre-dinner cocktail. Green, sweet shell, but with a lovely salty blue cheese filling. It was a delicious surprise.

We loved this osteria. We were skeptical because it was right across from the main train station, but the Google reviews were very good, so we booked a table. It was superb! Their motto is "Sapori romagnoli" (Romagna flavors). When the opera singer on the sound system would hit a high note, the servers stopped and held their breathe. That kind of place (in a good way). In addition to the regular menu, they had specials, including the grilled scallops that I had. Wish I had ordered more than just the two I got (8 euro per scallop). My partner started with a plate of anchovies with a ball of burrata, tomatoes and toast. Exceptional. My partner then had a tagliatelle with shrimp and truffles. I had a pasta in an egg sauce with morel mushrooms (also off the specials.) It was so good that before we left, we made a reservation for the next night.. Our wine was a Sicilian Etna Bianco. The next night was disappointing only in that they did not have a special menu on Friday. We repeated the anchovies with burrata (so good!) The evening before, we had watched the owner making the passatelli by hand, so my partner had to have the Passatelli with clams while I had a ravioli with blue cheese. Both very good. The wine was a Verdicchio from The Marche.

Osteria Il Paiolo is a delightful discovery in Ravenna. The food is exceptional, with every dish showcasing the rich flavors of Romagna. The handmade pasta, especially the cappelletti al ragù, is a standout. The seafood dishes — from tagliolini alle vongole to warm seafood salads — are incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared. Highly recommended for all pescatarians. The ambiance is cozy and welcoming, and the staff is attentive and friendly. Reservations are essential, as the restaurant is popular among both locals and tourists. An authentic and memorable Italian dining experience.

if you visit Ravenna this is a must place. it should be the first one as soon as you land in the city's station, which is 0km far , where you will be able to experience the "ospitalità Romagnola" and give a positive good start to your stay. freshly made egg pasta by beautiful, warm and welcoming women, they were attentive to our culinary needs. We reside in London, yet my partner had the best Angus stake, I am originally from here and can reassure i had the best fish strozapreti as primo and spiedini gamberi-calamari per secondo. this place call itself "Osteria" yet we had better service than many restaurants where we paid double the price. we are here another 5 days and will make sure we are back as many times as we can. it's a shame we didn't discover it earlier on. In other countries what is given here is rated as luxury. I am so proud to say, this is what my Ravenna is about.

A vegan restaurant in Italy - we had to try it. We came for some desserts and coffee. Unfortunately, service and taste did not fulfil our expectations. Staff only speaks Italian, so we had some difficulty ordering. Italians who cam after us were served before us. Water came only after asking again and we had finished the food. The lasagne was only heated, not freshly cooked. The taste was okay. Overall, the food is good, the service couldn't satisfy us. The atmosphere was nice, but quite busy and loud.

I came here for dinner with my partner who has severe dietary restrictions. When I asked the waitress if some dishes can be made with <insert long list of ingredients>, she said she will ask the kitchen and be back in five minutes. She was and what she brought was the entire menu marked with a tick for “yes we can do it without” and an x for “no”. Never in my life have I seen such a wonderful example of customer service and accommodation. We ended up ordering the vegan cheese plate, red beet gnocchi (gnocchi rossi) and pumpkin tortelli (tortelli di zucca) and all of them were amazing. 10/10, will come again, specifically for the mango cheesecake.

Could not have had a better experience! First, they were super accommodating (above and beyond) with complicated dietary restrictions. Mette — Google review
We have had very good experiences in the past here but this time not so much. We usually sit outside which is nice but as it was raining we sat inside. Air con not working well, too hot, slightly musty smell, seating not very comfortable, tired interior. Annoying music. Starter was very good, we enjoyed tasting various vegan cheeses and 'salumi'. Bread and bit hard/tasteless. Primi were a disappointment unfortunately: my daughter's lasagne was a tasteless and dry (it's usually excellent), my husband's porcini pasta lacked salt and taste, my 'sea asparagus' pasta was average, not really tasty. Secondi: melanzane alla parmigiana was excellent, potatoes good too. Peperonata was horrible though, sweet and vinegary, we didn't enjoy it at all. Dead fly in my wine glass and we left without dessert this time. Not the evening we usually enjoy here. Service very good though (except for being charged anyway for the wine which I think might have been an oversight.)

Because of this, we had to wait a little longer, but everything worked out in the end, and the atmosphere remained pleasant. We ordered an americano (coffee), but instead, they brought us a cocktail! It was an unexpected but actually very nice surprise. In the end, we got both the cocktail and the coffee — and were charged for both. I had the cream soup, which was absolutely delicious. Then I tried the fresh wild-caught fish, served with potatoes — and I have to say, it was the best fish I’ve ever eaten. We also noticed that around 3 PM there were fewer people, which made it even more enjoyable. The total bill came to €60, and it was definitely worth it.

Mercato Coperto in Ravenna is a delightful culinary gem that captures the essence of Italian culture. This vibrant market features a wide array of fresh produce, artisanal cheeses, and local delicacies, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the region's gastronomic offerings. The lively atmosphere, paired with friendly vendors, makes shopping here an enjoyable experience. Don’t miss the chance to savor authentic Ravenna flavors, from handmade pasta to delectable pastries. A must-visit for food lovers exploring the city! The posh restaurants in the heart of the city come with a price of course, so the prices are on the salty side...

Lovely market hall in the center of Ravenna. You can grab a glass of wine or espresso with made on spot pasta and enjoy it on one of many sharing tables. There are section with restaurant service serving pizza, fish and other delicacies. Really enjoyed my experience here.

This is a Must Visit! Why do we not have these in Chicago?! Full butcher shop: lamb, pork, beef - everything. Full fishery - all sorts of fresh cuts. Casual restaurants for sandwiches or Italian foods. And nice “table cloth” spaces too. We had a sandwich for lunch. Bought fruit and chips at the coop grocery for snacks. Decided to have dinner at the fish market as their tables we set just slightly more formal and their fresh fish for sale along with their fish salads looked great. Arrived for dinner. Our name was written on a placard and was holding our table. Two bags of bread were on the table for us to start. We ordered mussels and a ravioli stuffed with sea bass as n appetizer. The ravioli look more like tortellini and they were stuffed well with white Sea Bass. Delicious. We used bread to soak up the sauce. Next course was flash fried seafood mix with vegetables for 2. Sooo much food. Also delicious! Too stuffed for more. Food and two glasses of wine each plus a bottle of water was $90. Can’t beat it!! Another thing is their menu was really great as it explained a superior way of raising / sourcing the Happy Pigs! and explained all the cheeses.

The place is very nice and has a plenty of choice going from the local capital to the Emilio Romagna typical salami and cured meats, also available is a fresh fish for you with the local wine taste. This is all into an immersive atmosphere that allows you to enjoy the food and location while visiting one of the nicest city around the Romagna coast.

Very busy at lunch time and not a lot of seating. The pizza was great and the gelato shop we went later and had no crowd and could enjoy by ourselves.

The most impressive and beautiful Market I’ve ever seen. Very well decorated with old antique and retro furniture. Lot of meat and not so many vegetarian option, but they have a COOP mini market and a nice Cafe.

Located in Emilia-Romagna, Darsenale - Bizantina Brewpub is an impressive craft-beer venture spread across a 1200-square-meter area. This ambitious project has transformed a previously abandoned fertilizer warehouse along the docks into a captivating brewpub and beer garden. The refurbishment of this once-dismissed depot in the wet dock area within the city has brought forth a magnificent brewery and eatery.
Love places like this! Heaven for a beer lover as they serve their ownbrewed local beer. Just love it. Food was nice. Bit dry bread on the burger but good enough. Service is on spot and staff friendly and helpful. Really recomend

Great venue Their pizza "pala" is outstanding Beer selections should be better as they are a brewery Staff at the bar is great but staff that serve at the table never smile
Alberto F — Google review
Very much like an American brewpub - big, open & airy. Good beers ( I had a fall beer and the dog fish ipa, both good). The pizza was in a different form-factor than I expected (....but that's why we travel, no?) but it was very good. If you're coming from the Ravenna old town or center, go through the underpass in the train station. It's a nice walk along the canal.
Dirk G — Google review
The Darsenale Bizantina Brewpub was a great place to spend an evening. The beers, all brewed on site, are fantastic; my favorites were Cold Shower and M.59. The food was great - pizza was creative and delicious. Special thanks to Giovanni for helping us select some beers and a glass to take home. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Ravenna!

I am so glad such a place opened in my hometown. The gentrification of the wet dock within the city transformed an old large dismissed depot into a beautiful brewery and eatery. The indoor space is really wide but somehow, despite a full house, it did not get too loud. The staff is friendly and the pizzas we had were fantastic, the one to share and the more traditional round one. Given the quality of the dough and the ingredients, as well as the large sections of drinks, the price seemed very fair. Totally recommended!

Great brewpub on an old warehouse in the dock area. Approachable beers and wide selection of snacks and hot dishes, flights and merch. Great local vibe, obviously a true local spot which families, friends, young and old like to visit. Despite being full the place is not loud, but has a very amiable hum, creating a relaxed and cozy atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit when in Ravenna

I was looking forward to visiting this place but can say it's a bit overrated. Service was average - waitress didn't crack a smile for us and food arrived before our beers!? It's okay I guess but better places to be discovered in Ravenna!

Average beers. Not very personal service. Was asked to move elsewhere even though they had been happy to bring me beer there.....

SBRINO® Gelateria - Ravenna Centro is a vibrant and lively gelato shop that exudes a playful atmosphere reminiscent of an amusement park or circus. The gelateria offers a wide array of flavors, including unique options like pear and ginger, caramelized peanut, and vegan choices. In addition to classic offerings, the ice-cream parlor specializes in less traditional flavors made from local and seasonal ingredients.
Ice-cream parlor specializing in less traditional flavors (based on local and seasonal goods) alongside a more classic offer, together with homemade popsicles and ice-cream cakes. The gelato is really delicious and not too sweet, even though it somehow feels less creamy than others. What I tried was incredibly good! The interior is really cool and the staff was kind. The price is aligned to that of the competitors. Looking forward to a second try!

I got pistachio and salted caramel. The pistachio was AMAZING. The caramel at the beginning was nice but as I kept eating it the salt was overwhelming. It was SO salty it didn’t even taste caramel. I couldn’t finish it and I hate wasting food!

The ice cream was delicious, but the staff member kept smoking right by the entrance while people were enjoying their ice cream at the outdoor tables. I find this behavior unacceptable and disrespectful to the customers

(Translated by Google) This delicatessen in the center of Ravenna was a great discovery! Wide choice of vegan dishes, all very fresh and prepared with care and expertise. The farinata much maligned in a previous review has nothing wrong with it: it can be a little dry but simply because it doesn't exude oil like many others. In general, none of the dishes seemed greasy, in fact I found a great deal of attention paid to preparing food that was tasty and beautiful to look at but also healthy. The girl who runs the place can be very welcoming and helpful, she served us with professionalism and savoir faire. We will definitely be back! Torneremo sicuramente!
