Camargue, a coastal region in southern France, lies between the Mediterranean Sea and the two arms of the Rhône river delta. It is Western Europe's largest river delta. In its heart lies Les Saintes Maries de la Mer, a fishing town with white houses and a pilgrimage center for gypsies. The 12th-century Notre-Dame-de-la-Mer church, fortified in the 15th century, resembles a fortress.

LUMA Arles, Parc des Ateliers is a remarkable 20-acre arts complex situated in a disused railway depot. It features the striking steel-paneled tower designed by Frank Gehry and renovated warehouse spaces by architect Annabelle Selldorf. The complex offers 100,000 square feet of exhibition space, public gardens, restaurants, workshops, classrooms, artists studios, and a dedicated gallery for Les Rencontres d'Arles photography festival.
✨Absolutely free to enter—even the iconic tower and garden!✨ A Roman arena on one side, a futuristic art spaceship on the other — LUMA Arles. In a city known for Roman ruins, LUMA Arles rises like an Iron Man HQ dropped into the South of France. It’s bold, it’s shiny, and it’s so modern — and I loved it. The gardens surrounding the museum are beautifully curated, but the real wow factor? The panoramic view from the observatory. Standing up there, gazing out over the rooftops and beyond the horizon, I felt like I finally understood the peaceful solitude Van Gogh might have felt in this little town. Best part? Free admission. To both the museum and the viewing platform. A world-class contemporary art center offering all of that for free? Absolute gem💖 P.S. That giant slide looked so tempting… but I wasn’t ready to risk my puffer jacket. Next time! 😆
Yesran — Google review
We visited LUMA on a Wednesday afternoon with our children (8 and 11 yo). We bought tickets at the entrance of the tower so that we could visit the ongoing exhibitions (no fee for children). The exhibitions were very interesting and we ended up spending our whole afternoon in the tower. The kids loved the projects and the information provided is really interesting and provides a lot of context and background for each one. The tower is full of interesting views and places with permanent art creations. The slide was of course the highlight for everyone. You can also access the roof open space for a nice view of Arles and the surrounding area. The public (and free) space around the tower is also really nice. There are some exhibitions in a couple of buildings were you need the tower ticket to access, but the garden, the small lake, the walking path and the overall LUMA area are free and beautiful. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Arles or a nearby city.
Iason S — Google review
On our way from Toulon to Toulouse, we stopped in Arles to visit LUMA Arles, the contemporary art museum — and what a wonderful surprise! We’re not used to seeing contemporary art complexes of this quality in the south of France. The Frank Gehry building is absolutely stunning — an architectural masterpiece that’s worth the visit on its own. We only had time to see 3 of the 11 exhibitions, but they were so beautifully curated that we’re already planning to come back and spend an entire day exploring the rest. We loved the permanent collection and were thrilled to see works by Roni Horn, Wolfgang Tillmans, Ellsworth Kelly, Jeff Koons, and Andy Warhol — such an impressive lineup! And don’t miss the slide from the top floor of the tower — it’s totally worth it and so much fun! A brilliant cultural destination that combines architecture, art, and creativity in a truly inspiring way. Highly recommended.
Toulouse T — Google review
Spectacular art gallery with a very fun slide that you can visit for free. Cafe is excellent, everything about the place is perfectly designed. There's a panoramic view over Arles from the roof
Seiriol D — Google review
As a mere traveller, I arrived at LUMA Arles with an open mind and modest expectations. Yet, as an entrepreneur immersed in the realms of information technology, I found myself utterly disarmed by the depth of contemplation this remarkable institution provokes., Wandering through its visionary halls—part sanctuary, part laboratory, I was struck not merely by its architectural audacity, but by the quiet urgency that pervades its mission. In an age increasingly defined by artificial intelligence and the looming horizon of quantum computing, one cannot help but feel an existential tremor: What becomes of culture? Of human insight? Of education for our children—not merely what they shall know, but how they shall think, and more importantly, how they shall feel? LUMA Arles does not presume to offer facile answers. Instead, it proposes a space for inquiry - profound, at times disconcerting, and certainly necessary. One leaves not with certainty, but with sharper questions and, perhaps, a renewed reverence for the human spirit amidst accelerating automation. An indispensable visit for any thinker concerned with the interplay of technology, art, and humanity.
The Y — Google review
The building is striking and well worth a wander around even if only from the outside. There is a park and cafes where you can get drinks and snacks. We got a ticket and it covers all the exhibitions. We found them interesting, some more than others but all were enjoyable. There are interactive ones as well. Staff are very helpful as the layout takes some time to comprehend. You can go upstairs to the 8 and 9 floors where you get a great view of Arles and the surrounding areas. Well worth a visit.

What a great cultured day. A must must for anyone in the south next to Luma! Even if you arent, the building and art expos are definitely worth the drive. Lunch/dinner place available as an outdoor cafteria area with multiple options near by.

The building is a striking and distinctive landmark, standing out beautifully against Arles’ historic old town. Strolling through the surrounding park was a delight, and exploring the interior offered fascinating insights into its construction. Be sure to visit the top-floor terrace for a breathtaking view of Arles!

The Fondation Vincent van Gogh Arles is a sleek art museum that offers guided tours and changing exhibitions, featuring works by the renowned artist Vincent van Gogh. Established in 1983 by Yolande Clergue and later revamped by Luc Hoffman, the foundation is now directed by his daughter Maja.
Very lucky to have seen Van Gogh s starry night over the river Rhone . Today was the last day to see the painting before it is returned .

Very nice museum. Great temporary exhibition, Bit sad there are only (ever) 2 paintings by Van Gogh.
Chantal H — Google review
We have been there four times already, year after year, and enjoyed the beautiful art and calm atmosphere. This time it was especially good because we loved Sigmar Polkes varioud art pieces. The staff is very friendly, polite and helpful.
Kamila S — Google review
Ticket can be bought at the reception desk. 10€ per person and it’s worth to see the master pieces of Van Gogh along with other great artists of different times and genres.
HT H — Google review
A really lovely museum – the layout of the building, the location, the choice of art – it's all so peaceful. I didn't mind that Van Gogh was more of a marginal figure in it, as it was interesting how they positioned German artist Sigmar Polke in his 'lineage.' Just remember, if you're looking for the full Van Gogh museum experience you should go to Amsterdam instead as this is something different.
Caradoc G — Google review
Very nice exhibition and seeing 2 original Van Gogh paintings was a definite highlight.
Michelle B — Google review
I really liked the architectural style of this one. The exhibit inside is very interesting and deviates from but also takes up van Gogh in some way. I appreciated the distribution and elegance of the exhibition, so I recommend anyone to come here.

Great value with the student discount. The current exhibit was incredible featuring Van Gogh’s Starry Night Over the Rhone. Plus some works by Yves Klein, Georgia O’Keefe, and Lucio Fontana! Love it.

L'espace Van Gogh is a serene and colorful space that was once an asylum where the artist Vincent Van Gogh was held. The courtyard garden casts a beautiful array of colors on the white and yellow trimmed walls, creating a tranquil atmosphere. This 19th-century hospital has been repurposed as an exhibition space, featuring a career-spanning survey of photographer Mary Ellen Mark's work.
A must visit if you are a Van Gogh fan🎨 Free to look around and there are a few cute gift shops inside also . I noticed a handful of solo travelers sitting and eating their lunch there. It looked like a good idea in case you’re thinking of it…..
Sara D — Google review
Standing in the quiet winter garden where Van Gogh once poured out his passion… Unlike the vivid petals bursting with color in Van Gogh’s paintings, the garden at Espace Van Gogh in January was hushed — life seeming to hold its breath in the cold. But still, there was something powerful about being here. I was standing in the very place where his artistic fire once burned so brightly. Arles in winter felt peaceful, humble, yet filled with an invisible spark — a city where everyday simplicity and artistic spirit quietly coexisted. And oh, the weather! After shivering my way through icy Avignon, Arles welcomed me with the kind of soft, sunny warmth that felt like a blessing. 💛
Yesran — Google review
It’s free entrance. Small garden and no seats to take a break nor to enjoy the environment. You can see what Van Gogh had seen but that’s all.
G T — Google review
In the heart of Arles lies Hôtel-Dieu, once a sanctuary for Van Gogh, now a garden of memory and light. The cloisters hum softly with the ghosts of brushstrokes; the flowers bloom as if still posing for him. There is no grandeur here, only grace. A tender silence clings to the air, inviting you not to look, but to feel. One leaves not dazzled, but gently moved. A place where art once healed….and perhaps still does.
The Y — Google review
We always pass by the Espace Van Gogh whenever we are in Arles. The space is preserved nicely. When it's not really crowded and the weather fits the scenery, you get that feeling of being right were the artist was 130 years ago. There are always temporary exhibitions in the rooms around the garden, usually from school students under the guidance of local artists and school teachers and they are always quite interesting. Kids love seeing art created by other children and students. The souvenir shops are also a nice opportunity to buy some van Gogh items and they have a huge variety for all ages.
Iason S — Google review
beautiful, where u can find nice vangogh gifts and also i really enjoy the garden
Amiga T — Google review
We went there as Van Gogh spent some time there after he cut off his ear. He painted some scenes whilst there. I thought it was a beautiful space with a garden which remains very much the way he painted it. There’s an extensive souvenir shop there. Entry to the space is complimentary.

Saint-Trophime Primatial Catholic Church is a massive Romanesque-style church adorned with sculptures on its facade and an array of art inside. It stands next to the beautiful house owned by Vera Michalski, a renowned publisher. The church's carved portal has attracted curious visitors for centuries, along with the city's Roman monuments. The cloister behind the church offers a peaceful retreat from the bustling square outside and features intricately sculpted figures.
Both stunning and somewhat austere in the typical style of such churches. Not my favorite cathedral in France, but it's up there. It's very poorly lit, but that adds to the charm somewhat. There are a number of impressive tapestries and stained glass pieces scattered amongst the stark, arching stonework. The palm fronds (this is April) were a nice contrast too
David S — Google review
Although it is not artistically decorated like many churches in Europe, considering its construction year, it feels even more majestic.
Oguzhan K — Google review
This huge old church has been built with the most beautiful architectural design and detailed sculptures. It's been maintained and preserved amazingly! So much history. A true gem of Arles. No tickets needed. It's in the very heart of the city's Old Town square, Place de la Republique.
Christel — Google review
Nice cathedral, very high, very stately. Beautiful mason work near the entrance. Nice for a quick visit.

In a small town with so many epic buildings , this holds its own. Entry is from the beautiful squarer of a place de La Republic. next to the Hotel De Ville and the cloisters. Get the ticket that allows you access to all the showstoppers. Well worth it.
Col M — Google review
Don't come Sunday morning and expect to tour church or take pictures inside. Outside sculptures are fantastic. Beautiful square too.
Dean M — Google review
The Saint-Trophime Primatial Catholic Church is a stunning architectural gem, with construction dating back to the 12th century. While some of the tapestries may appear faded, this only adds to the church's charm and historical allure. A notable feature is the vast collection of relics of saints, securely locked away behind metal bars in a church alcove, offering a glimpse into the religious significance of the site. Like many churches in France, Saint-Trophime is adorned with numerous statues and paintings depicting standard components of Christianity, contributing to its beauty and spiritual atmosphere. Overall, a very beautiful and enriching visit for those interested in history and religious art.

Nestled in the historic 15th-century Great Priory of the Knights of Malta, Musée Réattu is a treasure trove for art lovers. This charming museum pays homage to its founder, Jacques Réattu, an esteemed neo-Classical painter from Arles. Visitors can explore an impressive collection that spans from the 17th to the 19th centuries, including a remarkable set of 57 drawings by Picasso donated after his exhibition there.
Built in the 1400s for The Priority of the Order of Malta and was sold to the Arles artist Jacque Reattu in 1793. Reattu’s daughter Elisabeth acquired the building and sold his collection and the building to the city of Arles in 1867. There are over 800 pieces by Reattu, drawings by Picasso, paintings by Antoine Raspel and many sculptures and a collection of over 4000 photographs. A very extensive art collection. Allow at least an hour or more. Highly recommend.
Mike Z — Google review
An 18 room art museum that came as part.of a multi pass tourist pass that we purchased for €15 which gives you access to 4 monuments and 2 museums. We didn't know many of the artists, except for Picasso. Amazing to see some of his original artworks in person. There were some rooms at the end that housed some modern sculptures, art and a sound room that weren't really our vibe. A great mix of art through the ages and we are glad we came.
Samantha P — Google review
The painter Jacques Réattu's work is worth discovering and admiring it, but even the museum itself is a beautiful historic building. Don't miss it if you're in Arles and interested in art. Very nice place!
H. ( — Google review
I enjoyed this museum. There are many interesting paintings and drawings from the 20th and 21th centuries. I also loved a temporary exhibition of sound art installations place among the pictures. It's a kinda small museum so you don't need to spend the hours to visit it all. What should be improved: the panels are in French and they should at least add English translations. I had to use Google Lens on my phone to understand some descriptions.
Raffaele B — Google review
A bit of a shrine to the family that established the museum, the Réattu with a sprinkling of modern art and some late works of Picasso. The audio guide is essential if you are not a French speaker, but its average among audio guides and some of the clips are quite long. The building is beautiful and there’s a decent shop on site but if your short on time, you can probably skip this site.
Maggie W — Google review
Beautiful museum with some nice pieces from Picasso (24.09.22). Great artworks in metal, wood as well as some audio works.

The Arles Market is a bustling biweekly event that sprawls across 2.5 km of streets, offering an array of fresh produce, crafts, and more. With over 400 vibrant stalls, visitors can explore a cornucopia of goods including fruits, vegetables, cheeses, flowers, honey, olive oil, charcuterie like the famous Arles sausage, and various regional products.
If you're here when it's open, you owe it to yourself to go. Nothing like your typical indoor boutique markets or upscale once a month things, this feels like a proper market for locals (and is a madhouse as such). Plenty of fresh produce at good prices, many places to grab a cheap, delicious meal for a picnic. A few more expensive places selling things like cured meats and nougat. I advise you to walk the length before buying anything if you have time to do it, many of the vendors sell the same things but at different prices.

Cheap clothes, household stuff and what some call. Antiques, e.g. old stuff... This is not a tourist market, there's nothing cute or memorable, this is for folks looking for low price items that they can't afford in supermarkets. We had a good walk but didn't see any interesting purchases.

Mediterranean restaurant
Le Galoubet, located in Arles, France, is a popular bistro known for its charming vine-covered pergola terrace. The self-taught chef Celine Arribart offers contemporary French bistro cuisine with a daily changing 33 prix-fixe menu based on market-driven ingredients.
A great surprise in the heart of Arles' historic center. The food is made fresh with seasonal ingredients so don't count on a pages-long menu. The set menus are well-priced considering the level of quality and preparation gone into each dish. Wait staff is very friendly and bilingual. Warm cosy fire (if coming in winter) and intimate atmosphere if you want to get away from the super loud restaurants.
Dee C — Google review
Whenever we come to Arles, we always enjoy dining at Le Galoubet — a reliable choice with an excellent quality/price ratio and refined yet simple dishes, always beautifully presented. That said, the service was very poor. The owner was kind and very helpful, but the blonde waitress was more than rude. I don’t expect a red carpet to be rolled out for me, but neither do I expect eye-rolling and visible annoyance just because we didn’t immediately understand a minor detail — due to our French, which is understandable though not perfect. The entire service was marked by this same attitude. It was almost a relief to realize that she behaved like this with everyone, regardless of nationality. Truly excellent food, unfortunately spoiled by terrible service.
Nicole B — Google review
It’s a unique address in Arles. The owners could be smilier but I praise their good taste in ingredients, menu and decor. BTW: the beautiful wall lamps were designed by the owner.
A B — Google review
Set French menu. Good food for the price. It was raining hard tonight and it was really comfortable indoors. The blonde waitress mentioned in other reviews was helpful, efficient and thoughtful. The other staff were all very pleasant too. The only downside is that it feels slightly rushed as they do 2 sittings with everyone arriving at once.

Grand Café Malarte is a chic cafe located on Boulevard des Lices in Arles, France. It's a popular spot among the city's residents and gets packed during the Feria d'Arles festival in April. The cafe has a beautiful conservatory-like facade that allows guests to enjoy the outdoors even on inclement days. Their breakfast menu offers classic French options like coffee, juice, bread, jams, and croissants.
The duck steak was really delicious. Location is great and the atmosphere was really nice. Fancy restaurant. Thanks for opening in holiday season.
B.T. L — Google review
Lunch at le Grand Café Malarte in Arles, France was good but slightly disappointing. First of all, it took the restaurant staff some time to recognize and seat us even though we had made reservations at this restaurant before we even came to France. It took about ten minutes before we were properly seated. The drinks service was good but ordering the main lunchtime meals did take some time. My wife ordered the Salad Nicoise which she said was good but was mostly greens. My daughter ordered the salmon tartar, but the fish had a great deal of lemon juice squeezed over it even though the menu description only calls for avocado and dill as ingredients. The most disappointing meal was my daughter’s partner, whose steak was served well-done even though he had ordered it rare. Our server specifically asked how he wanted it cooked and it was clear it was overcooked. Rather than complaining, he ate the steal anyway – in retrospect, it should have been returned to the kitchen. I ordered the Thai style sea bream fillet which was very tasty as were the accompanying noodles. All in all, the food was acceptable, but not good enough to make me anxious to return.

The best café in town..! Super ambience, terrific service, friendly and efficient staff, especially Mona. My ‘Go To’ morning stop for Classic Petite Dejeuner
James R — Google review
Went as a group of 22 people. Had the formule 1. It was a limited choice of pizzas, burger or ceasar salad. Pizza wasn't special, burger was good as well as the ceasar salad. It also vame with one drink and a dessert for €27. The dessert was a tiramisu which was kinda liquidy and not particularly a good one. The price is fine but for some people that ordered a pizza Margarita for €14 and a drink for €4 the price of the tiramisu (€9) is not adequate. Service was rather unfriendly or seem to not like having a big group there. Overall not the best option in Arles.

Thank you Mona for your kindness and support at Malarte Café during the opening of Arles Photofestival. The very known artist Roger Ballen had his Meetings here and felt excellent with you and your Team. We will come back.

Looked more like a bar while passing by at 1:25 but we where hungry and it was getting late. Wow once inside we were pleasantly surprised by the fantastic decor. From the host through payment the service was overwhelming good. Our dishes were delicious and fast. Nice wine selection with a very large by the glass list. Coming back for sure.

The Thermae of Constantine, located in Arles, France, are ancient Roman bath ruins dating back to the 4th century AD. Built during the reign of Emperor Constantine, these baths provided public bathing facilities and offer scenic views of the river Rhone. The complex includes hot and cold swimming pools, saunas, and massage rooms.
The Thermes de Constantin is a wonderful example of Roman thermal baths, showcasing the grandeur of ancient architecture. While only a part remains, the size of the vaulted ceilings is impressive and offers insight into the scale of the original structure. Of particular interest is the alternating use of brick and cement in the construction of the walls and vaults, highlighting the craftsmanship of the era. However, one drawback is the lack of information on the purpose of each room or area within the baths, which could enhance the visitor experience. Overall, it's an interesting and educational visit for those interested in Roman history and architecture.
Sue C — Google review
Another beautiful piece of Roman architecture and our entry came as part of a multi pass tourist pass that we purchased for €15 which gives you access to 4 monuments and 2 museums. The thermal baths would have been quite impressive back in their day, but much of the structure has been lost. All of the information was in French and there were large areas lacking any information. We read a review saying there were great river views, but you need to exit and walk across the road to view the river. The view from the riverside is more intact. I wouldn't make a special trip or pay a standalone entry fee to visit.
Samantha P — Google review
Not much to see. Once might be glorious but now just a ruin. Only the semi cupola dome is in good shape. Therefore you cannot feel the grandeur of the building like in the Caracalla baths in Rome for example. Parking is very difficult around
Christos N — Google review
This is an ancient Roman historic site that you can access by purchasing the Pass Advantage for €19. You get access to six sites and four museums. Well worth the expense. The site itself is mostly in ruins, so you have to use your imagination and read the placards. I'm glad I went here.

Chardon is a unique restaurant located in the heart of Arles, part of the Paris Pop-Up trio. It serves as an artist's residence for nomadic chefs from around the world who aim to create a distinctive menu by celebrating local ingredients through their global culinary perspective. The restaurant offers a regular rotation of visiting chefs, making each visit an opportunity to discover new flavors and identities. The atmosphere is described as lovely, with inventive and delicious food that leaves a lasting impression.
A restaurant with a concept of not always having the same chef, but with residencies throughout the year. This gives a diversity in the menu, which remains worked with fresh and local products. Each chef will bring a new way to interpret these products. It is also possible to be surprised by the accompaniment of wine, which will give you tastes that are not presented in many other places. Surely one to the place of the city to do absolutely without having disappointment if you like to eat and discovery. The price is 45€ for the Menu and 45€ for the wine accompaniment per person. It's still a budget but for a great experience.

Quirky place but a warm, professional welcome. Enjoyed some interesting combinations of flavours and ingredients. A good dining experience which I would repeat.

Ate here as part of a Provence food and wine trip. It was spectacular! This was our first meal in beautiful Arles, and it didn't disappoint! The wait staff was young, energetic, professional, and very nice. We had a five-course dinner that was superb! This restaurant uses rotating chefs, so therefore you will experience some new things. We had never eaten any of these dishes, but they included fresh ingredients and proteins from the area. All the courses were delicious and interesting. If you're in Arles, take a chance on this little restaurant to enjoy a wonderful eating experience!!

Surprised at some of the reviews here because we had an amazing time at Chardon. The space is very small and cute and our waitress was very attentive. We did one vegetarian and one regular tasting and found both to be worth it and we were full. We also added the cheese plate which I highly recommend and the wine pairings. Coming from St, Tropez the price was reasonable for us but yes it is pricier than some other places in Arles, due to the aesthetic of the food. The only odd food to us was the sweet onion as dessert, but maybe we are not used to this as Americans.
Tara — Google review
We tried this restaurant as we were curious about the concept of invited chef. I found this vegetarian menu not worth the price (32€ for a 3 course lunch menu). The lemon almond confit in the starter zucchini carpaccio was way too acidic that I couldn’t finish… The main dish was a soup which was good with interesting combination of flavors but the bad start still lingers… Service was good, except for one waitress who had a serving style of catwalk model that made us felt a bit ignored

Disappointing and Unhelpful Experience – Avoid Relying on This Office We had a very frustrating experience with the Arles tourist office. Our car was towed after we parked legally in an official spot, not realizing that a fair would take place on that street the following morning. There were no clear signs or warnings about temporary restrictions. Seeking help, we went to the tourist office expecting reliable advice. Instead, they sent us by taxi to a location outside the city to retrieve our car—without informing us that the facility is closed on Sundays. The taxi dropped us there and left, and we found ourselves stranded at a closed office, having wasted two hours and 60 euros for nothing. It's incredibly disappointing that a tourist office could not provide such basic and essential information—like the operating hours of public services. Their lack of knowledge and guidance only made our situation worse. If you're visiting Arles, I recommend double-checking everything they tell you and not relying on them for important or time-sensitive matters. Attached is the picture of the working hours so hopefully staff in the tourist office will see it and really help someone else in a similar situation. Also instructions from the police station 30m away from the tourism office. And now, when we again arrive to pick up the car outside the city on Monday morning, we found out that we had to go to the police to stamp the paper confirmation so we are allowed to pick up the car. Of course they didn't know this in the tourist office and didn't let us know....now again we have to pay another 60 eur for return taxi ride and lost another 2 hours. Thanks a lot

We visited Arles for one night and only knew about a few sites. We went to the tourist office simply to buy a ticket pass for the monuments and museums, but Caroline shared so much more. She took the time to actually talk with us and show where things were in the map. She even recommended trying to see the LUMA tower, which we had never heard of - it was a great visit. Caroline even gave us some tour books for other places we were planning on visiting in the area. I was very impressed and grateful for the great help from Caroline - she really knows her stuff.

Alyscamps is a tree-lined path in Arles, France, adorned with sarcophagi on both sides leading to a Roman cemetery featuring a 12th-century church. The site is part of the historic urban fabric of Arles and includes impressive Roman monuments dating back to the 1st century BC and 1st century AD. The Museum of Ancient Arles and Provence is a captivating modern museum that showcases the rich history of this remarkable city, which dates back to its Roman origins. Nestled in a strategic location that once linked Spain to Italy, it was established by Julius Caesar in 46 BC. The museum features an impressive collection of Roman sarcophagi, sculptures, and mosaics from the Augustinian era through the 6th century.
We visited this museum while staying Arles. It was part of the Arles Advantage Pass. We loved the exhibit on the Arles Rhône 3. Such a spectacular discovery and exhibition space with a film with English subtitles. We did use Google translate for reading other information as not much was printed in English. There are lockers for larger bags at the entrance using 1 euro as a deposit for the key. If walking, just be careful NOT to get in the nasty bike/walking tunnel that goes to the other side of the Rhône.

One of the best ancient museums in the south of France. The place is rich at unique historical exhibits including a huge original boat which was found on the bottom of the lake nearby. I do recommend buying a city pass as it provides a very good discount for this museum and several monuments as well as other museums.
Kirill M — Google review
Many amazing objects displayed, sadly only 10% with English text explained, the rest French. We took the English audio guide, which was a disaster. An old woman with a shaky British accent, talking very old fashioned...it was painful to hear. Her text was also so unexciting. There are only 19 tracks, but like +1000 objects are displayed in the museum. Better not to use it at all and just look around. The boat is the masterpiece of the museum, for that 4 stars
3N0 — Google review
Beautiful museum to visit. It shows the Roman history of Arles and its position as port in ancient times. It's cheap too if you use the combi ticket to visit other monuments in Arles. Most text is in French only, but there are some important texts that are also in English and there is an English folder to give context to the rooms and objects.

An interesting museum going into the background of the Romans. Probably one to two hours of wandering. Some amazing mosaics from floors of villas along with a wooden boat that was actually pulled up from the bottom of the Rhône. A bit tuned towards French but enough English for us to understand. La Gueule du Loup is an upscale restaurant located in a rustic 18th-century building, offering traditional dishes with a contemporary twist. The warm and elegant ambiance of the restaurant, adorned with Camarguais ornaments, adds to its charm. The fixed-price menus feature Provencal-inspired delicacies such as asparagus flan with langoustines and baked sea bream with braised vegetables.
Had a fantastic dinner! Beef starter was great with a variety of taste & texture. Portions were just right and the fish is a must try! A tad salty on the pork dish but still overall great taste Cannot stress how wonderful the fish of the day dish was!!! Only regret is that we are 2 persons & the whole Sea Bream special would have been too much food

This was the highlight meal of our trip so far! Everything about our time was great except that the personality of the young woman who was the hostess/server was very cold, which set an unpleasant tone for the evening. The two older women who cooked, brought the food to us, and took our payment were wonderful. Very pleasant, friendly and smiling! The other concern we had was that our red wine came chilled in the glass which was very unusual. Once it warmed up, it was fine.
Jay Q — Google review
What a culinary delight! We had already fallen under the magical spell of Arles but this fabulous restaurant added a sprinkle of stardust. The dishes were fresh, creative and delicious. Seasonal produce, beautifully cooked and an amazing feast for the eyes and stomach! Every mouthful was divine. Merci beaucoup, La Guele du Loup. We will definitely return.
Pip D — Google review
The high quality of cuisine and richness and inventiveness of flavours at this establishment make it fully deserving of its many accolades. Additionally, all dishes except one dessert could be made gluten free, meaning that I had a broad range of choice for all three courses. Furthermore, the venue, structured into three small rooms, results in an intimate dining experience that highlights the cooking rather than taking away from it in a "large bistro setting" so often seen in local restaurants.

Our dinner at La Gueule de Loup was simply fantastic. We made reservations late afternoon and we're able to secure a table that evening, despite the restaurant appearing to be full. From the minute we stepped through the door, we were greeted and shown to our table in the upstairs dinning room. Seeing that our little table for two was squeezed into an awkward spot, they shifted things around to make us, and the guests around us more comfortable. True hospitality from from the word go. The atmosphere in the tiny, if a bit stuffy room was warm and friendly; the two engaging waitresses helping put us all into a great mood. The food which followed elevated the experience even higher. My wife and I had the special, a whole grilled sea bream for two as our main. It was not only one of the most creative presentations we've seen, but more importantly, one of the most sublime fish dishes we've ever had, the fish perfectly tender and delicate on the inside with delicious crispy skin on the outside, and the whole thing nestled under a huge arrangement of perfectly steamed fresh vegetables. It was so impressive, four diners next to us took one look and ordered the same thing, happy and I believe lucky to get the last two orders. I could go on, but suffice it to say we were totally comfortable spending 160 Euros for our three-course dinner with three glasses of wine, and enthusiastically recommend this great restaurant to any discriminating restaurant seekers.

Le Café Van Gogh is a charming Provençal eatery with a lovely terrace that is said to have been the inspiration for Vincent van Gogh's 1888 painting. Located in Arles, this cafe holds historical significance as it is the actual setting of Van Gogh's famous 'Cafe at Night' painting. The building has become an attraction in itself, drawing visitors who want to see the place depicted in the artwork.
This place has been closed for over a year. There are plenty of spots to grab a drink or bite to eat and enjoy the view! If you’re a Van Gogh fan…… it’s a must see in the picturesque town of Arles!
Sara D — Google review
It’s closed! When we visited in May 2024 it was closed and had been closed for over a year. Looking through the windows you can see mail on the floor, glasses and dishes still arranged as if it was open at one time but is just suddenly left like this. Tourists stand and pose to take pictures of this lovely spot Van Gogh painted which we did as well. There are lots of lovely terraces to sit at in the immediate area to eat and enjoy the view and of Arles.
Cynthia D — Google review
Seems like this place is hit and miss. I was going to avoid this place based on other reviews and the tourist trap vibe, but my wife is a Van Gogh fanatic so she was hooked and there was no persuading her otherwise. I was prepared for a subpar experience but we experienced none of the issues others reported. The waitresses were fine, the blond young woman (seemed like a manager) was exceptional. Our meals were delicious - I had the Arlesien chicken and my wife had the prawn pasta. So I can only say our experience at the Van Gogh Cafe was great!
Steve — Google review
This is THE cafe from the painting! Very cute place and friendly service. Service was a bit slow with some snafus but very friendly. It was very busy so completely understandable. The reviews are not great but I really wanted to eat here. The huge paella pan looked so inviting that we decided to stay. I am so happy we did! The paella was delicious! Some cocktails were better than others but our friends enjoyed their meal of pasta also. If you are on the fence, give it a chance!
R C — Google review
Of course, it’s a tourist trap. And we fell for it because were only in Arles once and I’m a fan of Van Gogh. Though knowing it’s such, we only went for drinks. There are tables designated for people only getting drinks that are separate from the other tables. The greeter was friendly enough but the waiter, not so much. It was pricey pricey pricey, our friend ended up paying over 5€ for a bubbly water. I got a hot chocolate which was alright and wasn’t as much as the water. I would not recommend going here to eat or drink. As a cafe, I’d give it 1 star, but I added an extra one because it still has a resemblance to Van Goghs painting. If you’re a fan of his, I’d recommend going to just to be there and take a few pictures, but avoid eating here.
Amy G — Google review
The score is the average of two visits on the same day: one for drinks - only one rose wine available, no printed bill at the end (amount quoted verbally). The other one for dinner - once seated at the table we were told two wines of our choice are out of stock and then left alone for long, long time until we said "that's it" and left the venue. Nice (and famous - van Gogh!) place, central location yet horrible service. And the service supervisor cares much more about his hairstyle rather than the customers...
Hopperado — Google review
It's simply magical that you can visit this cafe and put you feet in the exact place where Vincent created one of the most iconic images in art. The atmosphere at the cafe and in the surrounding square in the evening is fantastic. It was like a dream to visit this amazing place.
Mark B — Google review
We should have been warned by the fact that it was one of the very few places with tables available on a Sunday night when all other restaurants were full, but when it's cold and raining you don't get much choice... The interior is nice, but the "patron" was wearing a sweatsuit, sprawled on a chair just inside the entrance, smoking (!!), eating a sandwich and giving hell in a loud voice to all waiters. Food was decent, even though the "soupe de legumes" was cold and the "loup grillé" (at 24.50 euros) was still bleeding. House wine was good, but there was only one glass for both water and wine (in France?). Quite expensive (89 euros for two courses two people, one coffee), taking into account that we had house wine and tap water. Icing on the cake: the credit card machine "was not working" and when we asked for a receipt we got just a handwritten note. Nothing more to say...

The restaurant is conveniently situated within walking distance of the arenas and the ancient theater. This is an excellent place to stop for a casual drink or a good meal during the day or in the evening. The interior opens up onto an outside terrace so you can sit comfortably inside or out. Contrary to some of the other reviews, we enjoyed our experience. Monday at noon. The staff was friendly and patient as we tried to use our basic French to order. A common problem with the three restaurants we tried in France: outdoor seating comes with tons of flies buzzing around throughout the meal. Again, not unique to this place and just an annoyance.
Brian M — Google review
Service and atmosphere were good. Terrible food. The steak wasn't cooked or cleaned properly, resulting in it being incredibly tough and full of inedible fat. The potatoes used for the gratin were old and reheated, the sauce was basically just oil. We were very disappointed, especially for the price. I would definitely recommend going elsewhere.

I only had coffee and cake here but the service was just fantastic. Very kind waiter explained the desserts on offer and even cracked a few jokes to entertain me as I was dining alone. Seems like good value for money and would return for a main course meal since the gateaux I had was delicious and beautifully presented. It is located conveniently near a parking area, surrounded by hotels and shops. Bustling in the evening, it has a very nice vibe.

La Chassagnette is an innovative organic restaurant located just outside of Arles in the Camargue region. It offers a unique farm-to-table dining experience with most of its vegetables and herbs sourced from its own kitchen garden. The restaurant holds a Michelin star and is known for its sustainable practices, making it the only organic restaurant in Europe to have received this recognition. Guests can enjoy their meal under grapevines while savoring wine pairings that complement the creative cuisine.
The best part about this restaurant is the beautiful serene garden. You are invited to explore it in its entirety upon your arrival. The dishes were fun, and we particularly enjoyed guessing the ingredients of the alcohol-free infusions accompanying our dishes. We felt at home and will be back!

Service, garden and atmosphere were great. Delicious desserts. The vegetable tasting menu was good but did not surprise me.

One of the most memorable meals we’ve had in a long time in an absolutely gorgeous setting. Every plate is like a poem. The ingredients are so simple yet so tastefully and creatively interpreted, the service was absolutely impeccable and we will carry the memories of an afternoon. spent there visiting the gardens and eating a delicious meal for a very long time. Our favorite moment was the pastry Chef coming out with a lemon pie and cutting us all a little slice and it tasted like heaven.
Roxana Z — Google review
Was really looking forward to our visit here. The garden is enormous and pretty much all of it is edible! 2 tasting menus available... one purely from the garden with no meat or fish and one with. We went for the one with and it was excellent. Inventive and creative use of garden edibles to complement the meat and cleanse the palate between courses. All in all an excellent 3 hour lunchtime spent. Loads of variety in the courses and definitely one to check out. The chef makes great use of what's around him.

I think there's too much focus on complexity and technique, rather than making delicious food. The desserts were tasty!
Eyal M — Google review
What a great meal. We were greeted with the most beautiful sunflower and lavendar fields. Once you walk past the estate you get to the restaurant with a beautiful outdoor and indoor seating. Out of the two available menus, We chose the carnivor menu so to say. The menu is broken down into weeks of Harvest based on what’s available and fresh in the estate. We dined their at week 29 Harvest, so the aubergine was fresh fresh fresh! A 6 course meal, with a palate cleanser, pre dessert, dessert, and post dessert! We commuted an hour for this meal and definitely worth every bite.
Lulu A — Google review
Fabulous. Incredible food served directly from the restaurant’s gardens. Beautiful setting and attentive but calm service.
Robbie C — Google review
One of the most wonderful dining experiences I’ve had. You are handed a tea upon arrival and invited to take a tour of the gardens where they grow some of the food you’re about to have. The outside table setting is dreamy, under a canopy of branches and you’re not seating too close to other parties. You’ve a choice of veg or omnivore menu and believe me, either or is just as good as the other one! The price range of the wines is ample and suits all pockets. The only remark would be they served an almond desert which wasn’t too flavourful…it was either missing honey or a pinch of salt.

Paddy Mullin's Irish Pub is a charming spot that perfectly captures the essence of an old-school watering hole. With its inviting ambiance, it's an ideal destination for those seeking a laid-back drink after a long day in Arles. The pub boasts an impressive selection of beverages, including quality Belgian beers and the ever-popular Guinness, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
We were a group of 22 (!!) and when I contacted the pub beforehand I got a reply within minutes that they could accomodate us. Room was tight, but it worked. The food was good, typical pub food, all my students were satisfied (fries maybe a bit greasy,m but that's the only complaint). The food arrived very quickly and even when everybody paid separately, that was no issue at all. Overall very swift and competent service.
Laurent V — Google review
Just had the worst meal I think I’ve ever attempted to eat anywhere. Hadn’t eaten all day and while there were better options in the vicinity, nothing else opened until 7pm. I’ve eaten a a number of Irish pubs in several countries and the food here is by far the worst. Ordered fish n chips and chicken n chips and they were both inedible. Chicken and fish were not fresh and the chips had been dunked into oil that was clearly not hot enough. Finished our drinks and left the meals pretty much untouched. My advice would be to not eat here. Go to the supermarket next door and buy a sandwich or some fruit.
Kim O — Google review
Went to this pub both nights we were in Arles. Definitely the best spot in town by a long way. Seems very popular with the locals even in the low season. The good was very good, as was the Guinness. They also have a proper selection of quality Belgian beers (including Corsendonk!!). The blond bartender who is originally from Champagne was great (sorry, didn't get her name). The rest of the staff were just okay. Not a great place for watching sports, but otherwise a very good pub. We stayed nearby as the bus to and from La Camargue stops outside the door. We'll do the same next time and spend our evenings in Paddy Mullins again!

To be honest I think I just had the worst chicken burger of my entire life. Even fast food would be better. It was not even served on a plate but on a bread basket. Having lived in england and having made burgers myself I’ll admit that it’s shame to serve food like that.

Nestled in the charming town of Arles, Gaudina is a delightful little restaurant that embodies the essence of enjoying good food and company. With its cozy atmosphere and homemade dishes, it invites diners to indulge in local flavors that are both hearty and delicious. The menu may be concise, but this brevity ensures quality over quantity, with each dish crafted to perfection.
Mushroom Risotto was delightfully creamy with regional mushrooms. Braised Beef tender and delicious. Good wine list. Service fine yet lacking attention

Do yourself a favour and go to this absolute gem of a restaurant. The food was sublime with traditional in season dishes, the ambience sparkling and the service so very open and welcoming. Will definitely return when next in Arles!!

I called in for a solo dinner last night, tempted by a stew on the menu. It was absolutely divine, the house red was the nicest glass I have had in a week. The desert!? Just as good (pictured, half demolished). Friendly crew, prices very fair and just an easygoing feeling about the place and my evening. Would have taken more pics if it wasn’t so tasty.

I had lunch here the other day. I thought it was quite good. Gazpacho made with melon and tomato (interesting twist). Half plate of charcuterie with a mini arugula salad. Caesar salad with some interesting add-ons (poached egg, fried cheese sticks (bâtonnets de fromage frits) and a nice glass of local white wine.

Went to this charming restaurant on a sunday night right during the Féria. It was very busy, yet the service and the food were great. One of the tables complained about the Aïoli/red meet match quite loudly, but we had no issues with this, we are used to it. We will certainly come back.

Mon Bar is a versatile establishment that combines the functions of a bar, tobacconist, and brasserie. It offers daily specials and creates a welcoming familial ambiance. The service is laid-back yet efficient, overseen by an amiable manager. For those with a sweet tooth, Soleileis at the end of rue des Thermes provides delectable all-natural ice cream. Mon Bar also boasts excellent hot chocolate and satisfactory food and service.
We had a wonderful lunch at the Bar Tabac Brasserie in Arles France. Right off the square with lots of atmosphere. We had butternut squash soup (Veloute' de butternut, Poe'lee' de champignons, lord grille et ses croutons) actually really thick, creamy and rich soup with lardons (small pieces of pork) and divine crunchy croutons. In the USA this would be a bowl of soup, in France it's a meal and evidence of a dedication to making food a sensuous experience.
Don M — Google review
We stopped for lunch at Mon Bar Bistrot & Tabasco on our stop in Arles. Waiters were kind enough to speak English with us and we appreciated it. We ordered the charcuterie board with the tempura shrimp to share and I ordered a non-alcoholic beer. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was delightful. We ate at 3 pm, so there wasn’t much of a crowd. The charcuterie board was listed as 24 euros and our bill came to 37 euros! My friend paid it before I could question the amount, so it was too late to question the price. Either we were charged more than the menu price for the charcuterie board, or a non-alcoholic beer was $13 euros ($15.47 in US dollars). We checked the cost of a 6 pack of the same beer and it was 10 euro. Yikes! Lesson learned - ask the price of anything not on the menu.

Wonderful restaurant, extremely welcoming, the hosts kindly accommodated a school group of 25 of us and produced delicious main courses and an amazing salad starter. The beef and chips and the veal were especially good and especially delicious but the salad perhaps took the biscuit. Thank you to Mon Bar!

Busy Sunday so understandable we had a small wait for our meals. However they were worth the wait. My Plat du Jour was excellent and my husband struggled to finish his burger. Good value. Service was very good considering the amount of customers coming and going. Would recommend.
Julie B — Google review
Food was fine but waiting almost 2 hours for it was not. Having ordered taco's was told 20 minutes later there were no taco's. How they didn't know that at the time is beyond me. Ordered a burger instead and then watched tables who came in a good half hour after us order and be served their food. After 90 minutes we questioned the time waiting to be told they'd run out of the dish of the day, which my wife ordered, and it was having to be remade. When we arrived there was only 3 other tables occupied. How do you run out of dish of the day? To compensate we were offered another bottle of wine as we'd finished the one we ordered. What we got was our old bottle half filled with an inferior wine. When we paid we were told the chef was working on his own. Sorry but having been literally the 3rd order of the evening they should have dealt with our order rather than serve the 7 tables who arrived after us. Plenty of other choices in the square, try one of them.
Phill C — Google review
We ordered one drink that was clearly watered down. We immediately said we did not want to drink it and did not wish to pay for it, as the taste was obviously off. Instead of addressing our concern, the staff laughed at us. When the bill arrived, there was no discussion possible – we were simply told we had to pay. The owner then became rude, poured a new glass in front of me and pressured me to drink it, supposedly to prove “nothing was wrong.” It was uncomfortable, intimidating, and extremely unprofessional. On top of that, the food was overpriced for the poor quality we received. It’s obvious this place is a tourist trap, focused more on making quick money than offering any real service or value. Definitely not recommended.

Nestled in the charming streets of Arles, MONSTRE is a delightful culinary gem that feels like a well-kept secret. On my third day exploring this beautiful city, I stumbled upon this hidden treasure tucked away in a quaint alley. The atmosphere was serene, with fewer tourists around, making it feel like my own private escape. As I entered MONSTRE, I was greeted by the warm smiles of the staff who exuded passion for their craft.
We suddenly turned into a little alley and found this gem restaurant. We saw a group of 5 happily drinking wines and enjoying their food and decided to give it a try. The eggplants and Japanese eggs, coming with the bread just blew us away as entrees. The mains - curry chicken and burrata are absolutely amazing with layered favours. The staff is passionate and friendly. A good vibe overall - very relaxing! Best French 🇫🇷 restaurant ever!

I recently dined at Monstre and was thoroughly impressed. The eggplant and egg/mushroom appetizers were flavorful and beautifully presented. For the main course, both the beef and chicken dishes were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Service was excellent, with attentive staff and a friendly, kind owner who made us feel welcome. Overall, Monstre offers fantastic food, great service, and a warm atmosphere. Highly recommended!

We discovered Monstre down a little alley and decided to dine here because of its gorgeous relaxed feeling. It was €33 for two courses, which was a little more than we were planning on spending, but the food made it SO worth it. My personal favourite was the soft poached egg sitting in a rich and thick mushroom sauce. lovely experience and such friendly, professional service. Merci!

I never leave reviews - but this place absolutely blew me away. The food was THE BEST we’ve had after a month in France. It’s incredible. And not too fancy and fiddly - just tasty & wonderful. You can tell the chef has something special (and he’s lovely).

We were a group of 4 and without reservation we could not have manage to get a table. Location of the restaurant is in narrow cosy street nearby the heart of the city center. We have ordered two tapas to start, 4 entry’s (oeuf parfait and mules) and to dinner ‘boeuf tigre qui pleure’ , 1 bottle of red wine and 4 coups of white wine. The food was good and well cooked , the ratatouille was well done . Why not a 4 or 5 stars? Service was a bit too long ( and they mistake in one order) but very nice, price was pushy (50 eur per person) , food quality could be taken to the next level on the main dishes (less potatoes and less ratatouille). I advise one to try it out , but there is for room for improvement for The restaurant managers

Bar Le Tambourin is an old-fashioned Arlesian institution where famous bullfighters used to drink coffee and pastis. The barman is a charming gentleman and the wine list has generous portions for only three euros per glass. Both the rose and white wines were from local region, pleasing to the palate.
Just a simple bar in the heart of Arles. Lots of locals and very affordable: two small beers (25 cl), one pastis and one glass of wine for €13. Bring cash, no card payment below €20.

Well we had mixed feelings about the place. The food was ok, not very good not bad. The stuff was friendly in general and really tried their best even though you could feel their streas! Only one waitor (very young one so we guessed not experienced yet) was a bit unpolite. When i asked if they can put half rice half fries as a side dish for my main course instead of fries, so i can give the rice to my 3-year old child, the answer was -No madame, you have to choose.. So i said ok only rice then. Then they forgot my main dish for some time, but lets say that due the super busy lunch time this can happen. The atmosphere and the location was nice. I am not sure if i would go back again..

nice place for getting coffee, right next to the cafe van gogh, so there is very nice view on it from the table on the street. the negative thing was the limit of paying by card from 10 euros. but definitely would come back and get here another short coffee stay :)

Called in for a coffee and calvados with friends with a low level of French language skill. Service was terrific and the staff friendly and took the time to understand our needs. Both staff and patrons were friendly towards us. The decor is related to bullfighting and the owner is a retired matador. His regulars gave him a hard time about our interest in this and his pride in agreeing that he was indeed the man in the photos on the walls.

Came here for a drink mid walking around town and loved the bartender and the service. After a mediocre experience at our dinner elsewhere, we decided to come back here to check out their dinner menu. We got a burger and a Caesar salad and fries. The chicken that comes on the Caesar salad was so good! Everything was decent and tasty, but I do wonder if it’s after a fail of a dinner right before. Great atmosphere, great service, great experience !

We had dinner there and the house wine was bad; the Bolognese was the worst I have ever had: without any tomato sauce whatsoever and sweet. When we told the waiter, he didn't seem surprised at all but equally didn't seem to care either. On the other hand, the baguette and the salad were very nice.

Worst experience in France! I went in this shop on Sunday morning to get some croissant. The young lady with dark hair who were at the till didn't greet nor ask what I wanted. I had to greet to order, which was new. When I ordered a croissant, she tossed(or even threw?) the bread at the till. I do not know why she did that, but I should have walked away right that moment, at least then I would not have gotten the wrong change. I said to the lady in English that she missed some of my change, she shrugged with a strange look and talked to the other male clerk. I explained to him again to get the right change. And the person who did the mistake didn't say sorry. Is this the manner of France? I never saw this rude person to wait on other people. Maybe she doesn't care about the business. Although I do not care about her life, she'd better get another job and don't ruin someone else's business if she hates it so much.

Dissapointing Pain de campagne, compared to the other we've had in the region, the worst of the 6 we've had this week each from different shops, to our taste. I note we bought it mid afternoon so not at the freshest, but I feel the recipie was the issue rather than the freshness. I understand de campagne to be sourdough, but this didn't seem to be sourdough. That aside, it was not very tasty, the stub of the bin went in the compost. I. Sad yo give it 2 stars, but that is how I'd rate that loaf.

One of the best buffalo pizza I’ve ever had - maybe THE best. The service was absolutely incredible. Our waitress was so nice! Even though we waited for possibly 45 minutes (opening week of the Rencontres) until we got the food she always looked after us. Just please update your opening times, we wanted to come back today on a Sunday, when maps says it’s open from 6PM but it was still closed. 🤍

This is quite possibly some of the best pizza I've ever had. All of the ingredients are high quality and fresh. From the freshly made dough to the perfect blend of seasoning for the sauce and fresh cheese it all comes together in a mouth watering feast. The pizza here does not disappoint. Poor service The restaurant was busy and the waiter offered to make up a new table for us, while we had a drink in cafe Boubou opposite. Great we thought. Ordered drinks and food, staff were good bringing our drinks. But when an hour later, and noticing that newer arrivals had already received their pizza, we asked where our pizzas were their attitude changed. They said they didn't know - 'we're busy'. Ag little later we asked another waiter and she said the same. They didn't try to check in the kitchen to see what was happening. Unsure when we might be served out food, we decided to pay for our drinks and go. When we did, the waiter called into the kitchen to cancel our pizza order! I felt staff were really rude and disrespectful, we hadn't been rude at all. In the end we just got fed up waiting. They are a busy restaurant, so I think they don't mind upsetting some customers along the way, but if you want to avoid risking our experience, I'd suggest going elsewhere.

€2.50 for 1 scoop of ice cream and one was past it's sell by date. It was disgusting. All 3 of us tasted it and it was definitely off. When I complained they refused to accept it. Cheese shop
Wine bar
Nestled in the charming streets of Arles, Les Fromagères is a delightful cheese shop that beckons with its inviting atmosphere and exceptional offerings. As you approach, the rich aromas of aged cheeses and artisanal breads create an irresistible allure. This hidden gem is perfect for indulging in local flavors; during my visits, I savored exquisite charcuterie paired with creamy goat cheese and aromatic brie.
Fantastic little cheese shop. If you want a bit to eat and a glass of wine before the restaurants open at 7, this is the place.

Amazing food experience! The place serves absulutely only the best quality food possible. They know everything about what's on the plate. Everything was delicious, fresh, in every bite you feel the quality of the served dish. Suggested local wine was probably the best we've tasted during our 3 week stay in France.

Hidden Gem in Arles: Cheese, Wine, and Pure Happiness Nestled in the winding streets of Arles’ enchanting old town, this little cheese shop is a treasure waiting to be discovered. The moment you step inside, you’re enveloped by the warm, rich scent of aged cheeses, rustic breads, and marinated delicacies — a sensory welcome that instantly makes you feel at home. The selection is simply extraordinary. From buttery soft bries to sharp, crumbly blues and nutty alpine cheeses, every piece seems to have been chosen with love and expertise. Shelves are lined with local Provençal specialties and exquisite finds from across France and beyond, making it a true paradise for cheese lovers. But the real magic happens outside. The highlight of the visit is undoubtedly sitting on the quiet terrace, surrounded by the ancient stone walls of Arles, feeling the golden sun on your skin, and enjoying a perfectly curated cheese platter with a glass of excellent wine. It’s one of those rare moments when everything feels just right — where flavors, atmosphere, and time itself seem to come together in perfect harmony. The soul of the place is the owner — a woman whose passion and deep knowledge radiate from the way she speaks about each cheese. Normally, I prefer to choose for myself, piece by piece. But here, something about her confident, genuine manner made me trust her completely. She prepared a platter “à son goût” — according to her instinct — and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made. Every bite was a discovery: from silky to bold, creamy to sharp, perfectly balanced and flowing like a story on the plate. Adding to the experience are her wonderful homemade pickled vegetables, olives, and sun-dried tomatoes — little bursts of flavor that brighten the cheeses and complete the meal with a touch of Mediterranean soul. The surroundings are pure charm. Sitting there, in the heart of Arles, sipping wine, tasting cheese, watching the slow dance of the afternoon light on the old stones — it feels like stepping into a beautiful painting, one you never want to leave. This little shop is not just a place to buy cheese. It’s an experience, a celebration of good taste, and a warm embrace of Provençal life. If you find yourself in Arles, don’t just visit — linger, savor, and let yourself fall in love.
Keusen K — Google review
Great spot to try some local cheese and wine before dinner. I asked the young man working there to give us local cheese and charcuterie board and pair with wine and he did a great job. We sat outside and enjoyed the platter and in the end the price was very reasonable. The shop is very cute as well I did not have time to explore it sadly!

Delicious sandwich to go, very friendly staff who didn’t mind making some adaptions due to allergies. Beautiful cheeses and local products

Just go. We visited this shop twice. It was superb. The first time we ordered charcuterie and cheese. We got so.e lovely parma ham and salami with a local goat cheese and brie with basil. We got a carafe of the house white. The second time we had 4 cheeses and paired a couple with a delicious sriracha or Fig (goat and sheep), and also 2 other cheeses inc. a superb camambert. Go, ask for recommendations, and enjoy.

The Church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Major is a remarkable 12th-century church located on Hauture Hill in Arles, originally built on the site of a Roman temple. The church has undergone several transformations over time and is known for hosting the Gardians Mass. While it was not accessible during one visit, its exterior beauty and serene atmosphere were still appreciated.

Unfortunately no access to the church on the day we visited which is a real shame , I always like to leave a donation when visiting any church I’m sure it would benefit if the doors were open . But I can see it’s beautiful on the outside. Worth a visit in my eyes .

L'Epicier Moderne is a charming grocery store that also offers a delightful dining experience. The menu features regional specialties, particularly seafood such as shellfish and crustaceans, along with a fine assortment of organic and local wines. Visitors have praised the simple yet incredibly flavorful dishes, such as stuffed tomatoes with risotto and delectable lemon tart. The ambiance is described as cozy and welcoming, akin to having dinner at a friend's place.
Wow - this was the best French meal that I have ever had. Quite memorable. The pictures do not capture how good they were. (One fish and the other duck. Both were fabulous) A quaint place with outdoor seating. Very friendly staff. We say the special planned for dinner and wished we could come back.

We live in Arles and love to go here with our local friends and guests or just on our own. Ricardo and Sabine are exceptionally warm hearted, welcoming and generous hosts. Ricardo's creativity is outstanding and his dishes surprise us even as regulars. There are many other great places around, but if you come to Arles for just one lunch or dinner, this should be your choice...

I wish we could give 6 out of 5 stars for service here. The place is run by a husband and wife and we received nothing but kindness from both of them start to finish. We don’t speak much French so the menu was explained to us start to finish in English. The food was exquisite and the outdoor seating was lovely.
Jack B — Google review
Cute, little restaurant with high quality food from a daily changing menu. We enjoyed our lunch here very much!
Bianca B — Google review
The rule: 2 dishes minimum per person required, that's not a big deal, but even respecting this rule, it's a very small quantity of food and you leave hungry. It's a deal breaker for me. Even the bread basket is ridiculous. 2 of their tiny dishes don't equal in quantity a main course in any other restaurant. Besides, the service is nice and it's in a nice little square. OK to try but not OK to come back and repeat.
Andy M — Google review
A casual tapas place with good products and a nice selection of wine. Friendly staff. Perfect for the aperitivo!
Yves B — Google review
We called at 5:45 PM to ask if we could get a table at 7:15 PM. We were told over the phone that if we arrived at 7:15, a table would be available. Based on this information, we didn't make any other reservations. However, when we arrived at 7:15, we were informed that there was no table available for us and that the restaurant was fully booked. This experience was far from satisfactory, as we were left wandering through the city during peak dining hours trying to find a place to have a nice dinner. While I can't comment on the food, the service was very disappointing.
Finn M — Google review
Really lovely food, simple but extremely tasty. Really hot day and only wanted a small snack so went for a small starter size of stuffed tomatoes with risotto. Absolutely delicious. I wish I was more hungry and would have had the main course portion. Lemon tart, lovely and the coffee is one of the best noisettes so far. Will definitely be coming back next year. This area of Arles is a best kept secret. Don’t tell too many people! Shhhh!

Mazette! is a charming spot in Arles that offers great coffee and a variety of gluten-free options, which is quite rare in France. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff are super friendly. They serve gluten-free pancakes and can accommodate gluten-free requests for other menu items as well. The place also boasts an authentic and friendly staff, making it a perfect stop for breakfast or brunch.
BRUNCH can be a bit difficult to find in a relatively small town but we found Mazette! and enjoyed a very good brunch. It is a small restaurant with a few tables inside and a few outside. Decent menu selection. My husband had the scrambled eggs, and I had the French toast and yogurt parfait. Both were very good. We both thought the coffee was especially good. Nice location on a corner street that wasn't too busy. Highly recommend.
Ann-Marie — Google review
Lovely, friendly staff, unfortunately it was let down by the food and the coffee which was, from the reviews, the reason we chose to come to Mazette. The "House Granola" was a) tiny and b) like the texture of wood chips - perhaps this is my fault as I did not see "gluten free" on the menu when I ordered it. The fruit was lovely but hardly worth the €7 compared to others I have had in France that are substantially more generous and satisfying. The Avocado with spices was disappointing as the taste I had from my partners plate had a bitter taste indicating that (I believe) a lemon seed had been let slip through and tarnished the whole taste of the guacamole. One thing we have noticed in our travels around France is the high quality of the local produce and the genuine flavour that comes through from locally sourced small producers. I have no idea where the ingredients were sourced four our meal but the poached egg here was virtually tasteless and the bacon over cooked and virtually inedible in its toughness. Unfortunately the reviews did not live up to the reality in our case and hopefully it was just an one off as the establishment has many good reviews but our experience was our reality.
Andrew C — Google review
This place is really great the staff was tolerant of my lack of command of French I had the soft-boiled eggs with avocado, a flat white coffee and some hibiscus beverage. One of the few places that I found in Arles where you can get eggs early in the morning. Plus I got to discover that neat tool to use to crack the shell of the soft-boiled egg.

I had the best time in Arles and this place was definitely part of it! We had a phenomenal veggie bowl with a side of bacon at the lovely Wow! Mazzette! Restaurant in Arles France. The salted carmel cookies & the cappuccinos made a fantastic desert. Lovely burgers served with salad and tiny delicious potatoes. The meat potatoes and bread are really nice quality burgers one of the best of many places l know. We came back for breakfast knowing we wouldn’t be disappointed. The worst hamburger I have eaten in my entire life. The meat was not thawed out all the way nor were the buns. When we were served our hamburgers, we got three, the buns were really ice cold and the meat was flamed on the out side while being cold in the inside. The meat ou could still see the stripes from out of the meat grinder and frozen crystals. I would say the bottled water was good. Worse food ever. When they asked us about our food we told them and even translated into french so they could understand, result ok we will pay for the water! I said don't worry I'll pay for that too. Not happy and don't go here! The merit zero stars.

Inari is a permanent dining spot by chef Celine Pham, who has previously worked in renowned Parisian restaurants like Septime and Ze Kitchen Galerie. Located in Arles, the restaurant is housed in a 13th-century chapel on Place Voltaire. The decor is understated, providing the perfect backdrop for the chef's balanced cuisine with Asian influences and a focus on plant-based ingredients.
Everything about this place is effortlessly professional. Really superb attention to detail in the service, presentation and atmosphere; fresh and lively dishes; and a banging natural wine list. Pretty special spot.

This was one of the best meals of my life. The flavors, textures, quality, and presentation of each dish are superb and unique. I also enjoyed the wine pairing immensely. I actually felt a pang of sadness midway through the meal that I do not live closer to Arles, and may not be able to experience Chef Céline Pham's brilliance again for a while. Unlike anything I have ever tasted before - truly transportive, and an homage to her Vietnamese heritage that meets modern French cuisine. Best pho I’ve ever tasted! The service by a mainly female, stellar team, is warm and impeccable. The space, nestled in a 13th century chapel, is beautiful and inviting. Their star is rising.⭐️
Gena C — Google review
We drove here from Avignon based on the recommendation of our bnb host. And it was worth the round trip drive. We got lucky with the same day reservation. The restaurant was very charming and intimate without mainly tables set up for a party of 2. Inari offered a 5-course meal at about 55 euros. The sommelier gave us great recommended pairing for our meal. We enjoyed watching the chef cook in an open kitchen setting. Just note that you will most likely catch the smell of food on your hair or clothing. All the dishes were beautiful with a twist of Vietnamese fare. The pace in between serving each course was perfect. Don’t think twice - come here and enjoy some delicious food.

Asian inspired/fusion. The meals come in a 6-course set for dinner. Every dish was absolutely delicious. They accommodated a vegetarian diet and asked specifically if there are any other allergies or preferences before. In addition they spoke perfectly good English and explained every dish. It's worth getting a reservation as it seems possible that showing up late without one might result in being able to not get a seat. Inside the restaurant the atmosphere was calm and elegant without being uptight or stiff. Outside are views of the courtyard. Overall great attentive service from the servers and a worthwhile place to have dinner in Arles

We arrived late at night and this was one of the few places open, it was super packed , but the kind girls that were making the food , didn't turn us away and fed us some delicious meatballs, everything else was sold out , that's how good the place is ! (Translated by Google) The environment is very good. I saw Diane Arbus’s exhibition at the Arles Photography Festival in 2023. The building is also very special. Every step you take in it has different changes and different perspectives. Everything is fine and comfortable The environment of the catering department is also great. It is well integrated with the original ruins and is shaded by fig trees. It is elegant. Also free admission (Original)

(Translated by Google) Visited at the beginning of May when there was no longer an exhibition in progress: a shame!! but the advantage is that there are not many people so you can take advantage of the explanations of the guided tours and the discovery of this atypical tower and the rooms. Nice well-maintained park, different places of this former industrial site in full rehabilitation to see because apparently many exhibitions where trade shows are organized.

(Translated by Google) This park is a success, and it's a great place to walk or meditate. The trees are magnificent, and it's wonderful to hear nature, the birds, and the frogs singing in the city. It's an asset for this city with so little vegetation. I never tire of it. Thank you. Merci

(Translated by Google) The pink sculpture is kitsch like no other... it spoiled the whole atmosphere of this place. I wish they would change it... If it weren't for it, I would give it 5 stars. The park is small but very nice. (Original) Różowa rzeźba to kicz jakich mało... zepsuła cały klimat tego miejsca. Oby ją zmienili... Gdyby nie ona to dałbym 5 gwiazdek. Park mały ale bardzo ładny.

Mentioned on
1 list
The Yellow House Easel, once intended by van Gogh as a haven for artists, has vanished along with the neighboring Cafe de la Gare and the public garden. Although it was meant to be an artists' colony, only Gauguin joined van Gogh in this venture.
it's interesting to know that the painting was done in this area, but otherwise not much to see here. if you are biking, worth at least passing by.
Clover J — Google review
You can’t even find it if there’s no sign. You’ll easily ignore it when you pass by…. It’s renovated too new to identify. The tunnel behind is more like what Van Gogh painted and more historical.
G T — Google review
Very divergent from the painting (time passes)
Matteo G — Google review
The original Yellow House where VanGogh stayed was destroyed during the war. You can find its original location by looking for the placard by the train station.
Eliza L — Google review
The yellow house isn’t there. The sign is worn. Not worth the stop.

One of the stops on the Van Gogh route.

(Translated by Google) Van Gogh's famous Yellow House, immortalized in his famous 1888 painting, sadly no longer exists in Arles. It was located on Place Lamartine, a square that today looks very different from how Van Gogh saw it. The house was badly damaged during an Allied bombing in 1944 during World War II, and was later considered beyond repair and demolished. Today, in its place, there is a commemorative plaque that recalls its past existence.
