The House of Santos Dumont is a great place to visit. I got surprised when I saw how simple he lived behind the big intelligence he had. The history of this great person brings pride of such human and the benefits he brought to the humandade.

The entrance fee is decent, and they offer a video (with English subtitles) that tells the true story of Mr. Dumont. This is a must-visit site for fans of aviation history. Keep in mind the stairs are steep (which is part of the original history of the house), but there is an elevator available for people who have difficulty.

What a fabulous structure, amazing how the first two meters of the structure is cut stone while the remainder is built with concrete to represent the people. It is in an idealistic location overlooking the river, and is very well maintained. One thing to be aware of is shorts are not the preferred clothing item. This wax museum was ok but very small and with terrible lighting for photos. The whole experience could be better, although the actual wax celebrities are very realistic, almost scarily so! It’s pretty expensive for what it is, although the student discount is good.

This is my favourite restaurant in Petrópolis. And every time I go to Petrópolis I have to have lunch there. The food is excellent, and they keep they same quality over the years.

We have ordered a 600 gram picanha and it was a delight! Without a doubt one of the best I ever ate in my life! Staff is very friendly and humble. This place is pure class. However, it is a bit on the expensive side and the entrance of the virtue is not very inviting. So because of this we were sitting in an empty restaurant on a Sunday evening at dinner time (just 2 other tables). If there were some more people there it would add to the ambiance and I would rate 5 stars! Please, try it, the food will amaze you. Pro-tip: ask for the pimenta, their home made pimenta is the spiciest I've ever got served!

I visited Brazil in the fall of 2016, and I had an amazing time exploring the country. I ate at this restaurant with family and friends, and we all had the infamous puffy potatoes and meats. I had the steak, and I can say that it was the best steak I've ever had in my life. Phenomenal place!

The Steak was unfortunately not soft (3 of 4 ordered picanha pieces). We had two returned and it took around 3-4minutes to exchange. The new ones were a bit softer but far from what I expect in this price range (2x 600g for 4 persons for 360 reais). We were disappointed. home cooked steak has “unfortunately” a better softness.

This is a place I have to stop by every time I go to Petrópolis. I love the biscuits.

What an amazing park. The national park of Serra dos Órgãos is a very pretty park with several hiking trails. The trails are mostly one way up and the same way down, branching from one main trial. There are several pretty water falls. The nature and views are beautiful. At the beginning is a manned information point with toilets, water point and outdoor shower. You can’t park a car in the national park: you have to park your car in one of the private car parkings nearby.
