The location is beautiful and tranquil, very relaxing you can sit out undisturbed. The grounds and original buildings are stunning. Location is easy to drive to Avignon and surrounding areas makes this an ideal location. The hosts and staff are friendly and attentive and left you to your holiday. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the bathroom and kitchen maybe could do with an update but DONT let this put you off they are functional and comfortable, it has everything you need for a lovely stay….. We can’t wait to go back

Very nice Bed and Breakfast. We stayed for six nights and it was great location for exploring the hill towns around Avignon. Our room was large (the pink room), and we enjoyed the gardens in the afternoon. Breakfast provided in the mornings of cold cuts, cheese, yogurt, cereals, and rolls/pastries. When we asked for directions or suggestions the owners were very accommodating.

Photos do not come close to the beauty of this place. We stayed in the spacious family apartment which was well equipped with kitchen essentials and had aircon. We used the place as a base to explore Provence with our family and relaxed in the gorgeous grounds of Domaine de Rhodes as well as enjoyed the pool!

The hosts are really special. So kind and willing to do that little bit extra to make your stay special. You are in the countryside, on Europe’s largest river island. Staying in a 16th century hunting lodge. Quiet, and tranquil. April is perfect warm weather. The breakfasts are home made croissants, warm butter, home made yoghurt, eggs, eaten in a communal lounge allowing you to mingle with other guests. The place has it all. We arrived by bus, crossing the river from Avignon, next time we will hire a car. Easy to explore the surrounding hill top towns

We had a wonderful time with my parents. The property and rooms were beautiful and well maintained, and we especially loved the décor. A big thank you to the owners for taking such great care of us!

Stunning domaine set in glorious gardens. The pool was inviting, the hosts were so welcoming. The rooms all have different themes and lots of charm. Equipped with everything you need including tea & coffee. Breakfast is sumptuous, with lots of choice. We ate on the terrace listening to the birds. We also hired bikes from the owners which was great for exploring nearby Avignon. No restaurant at the property but 2 great places to eat nearby. Couldn’t recommend this place more! Thank you!

What an absolute delight! Beautiful property. Upon arrival we were greeted personally by the owner. He was extremely friendly to these Americans. Very helpful. And spoke great English. The room was spacious, comfortable, well appointed . The breakfast is top tier European breakfast. It’s worth the cost - do it. We love the property so much that we decided to spend a day on the grounds (which is very big). The pool and games were great. We thought this was a great location to base our Provence adventures from. Seriously a hidden gem.

Character, location and hosts!! We stayed for three days and had a great time in Avignon!! Our hosts, Veronique and Fabrice were superb! When we arrived they spent time with us to review a map of the city and make recommendations of where to go and what to do. They made dinner reservations for us at delicious restaurants! The room was clean and functional. This is a 500 year old building with tons of character. The rooms have air conditioning and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent! There is no elevator but Fabrice carried our bags to our room. We highly recommend this great place!

We stayed here as an American couple and had a fantastic time. The proprietors are welcoming and kind, the breakfast was fresh and full. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a pleasant place to stay.

We enjoyed our stay at La Banasterie. The room was ecletic but comfortable and nice with a lovely garden patio outside our door. We had a delicious breakfast each morning in the cute dining room. Well appointed and thoughtfully decorated. The owner, Tanguy, was very cheerful, nice and helpful with great suggestions regarding what to see and information on dining. He called for reservations and saw to it that we were well taken care of. We would recommend this hotel for a fun stay in Avignon.

We spent 2 nights at La Banasterie in Avignon and would highly recommend it! Fabrice and Veronique were just the kindest hosts and sat with us when we arrived to point out some top Avignon sites, give restaurant recommendations and a map of town. Their BnB is so lovely and cozy, with the prettiest decor and welcoming little courtyard patios. It was a real treat to stay in a historic French home like this! And their daily breakast was fantastic as well, with homemade yogurt, granola and jams, coffee/tea, juice, plenty of bread/croissants, cheeses and even an egg if you'd like. Overall, we really love our stay here and would definitely recommend to friends and family!

We recently stayed at La Banasterie B&B for 3 nights. The location is very close to the sights of Avignon, but is miles away from the hustle and bustle of the main drag. The rooms are unique and charming, with interesting appointments, and chocolates. The host is charming and helpful, especially with restaurant and shopping recommendations. Breakfast consists of fresh fruit, yogurt, a lovely assortment of freshly baked goods, coffee/tea with hot chocolate available on request. A place I would stay at again.

Stayed there for a night. The guesthouse was lovely. A lot of character (building is very old) but done up perfectly. Hosts were very very very friendly! Location was just a turn away from the Palias des Papes. We were also given excellent recommendations for restaurants in the area!! Please do note that you can only check in after 4pm - if earlier; the hosts may not be home to welcome you.

My daughter and I just visited this magnificent bed and breakfast a week ago, April 2025. The hosts greeted us with tremendous warmth and were sure to provide us with wonderful tips on what to see in the area. Olivier even set up a tour for us which was delightful. We stayed in the suite which was very large and well appointed. The gardens are so well loved and provided a needed respit after a long day of sight seeing. I highly recommend and hope to return.

If I could give a 10 for the service that still would not be enough as Olivier and Laurence were such wonderful hosts. They helped us with orientation on our arrival and provided a great list of recommendations when we booked our stay to help with planning our short stay in Avignon. The location was central to everything but on a quiet street to get away from the crowds. The building and rooms were a great mix of old and new with art adorning the walls. The garden and pool are a great spot to relax We would love to stay with them again if we return to Avignon.

I highly recommend staying here if you find yourself planning a trip to Avignon. Oliver gave us a very warm welcome, provided refreshments as he sat with us to give information about Avignon and a tour of the grounds & our room. This was the perfect place to end our trip to France. There is a book of information for dinning, tours, etc.. anything you need to plan a perfect trip in this beautiful city. You can see the love and care that the owners have put into the gardens and house, and they are very happy to share it with guests. Both were very attentive and it never felt like a bother to ask them for anything, very warm and inviting hosts. The garden is beautiful, which provides a nice escape from the city, and the pool is very refreshing for the summer heat. The room had everything that is needed; there are refreshments free of charge in the fridge and a wonderful French breakfast in the morning. Great location close to the Gare d’Avignon Centre as well as the city center & Palais de Papes. They truly allow you to feel at home here. I would definitely stay here again without a doubt!

The loveliest guest house we've ever stayed in! I was blown away by the beauty and hospitality during our stay in Avignon. Of the the hotels we stayed in during our trip to France, Les Jardines de Barcane, was our favorite place to rest after a long day of traveling. The breakfast set up was so thoughtful and the gardens absolutely dreamy. Do no hesitate to book a stay with Olivier!

This place is like a peace of heaven within Avignon. Such a lovely backyard, beautiful rooms. Highly recommended if you want a place to stay far away of anonymous chain hotels. Very private and personal welcome as well as service. And not to forget the hidden star guest Minette. Highly recommended and we always would return without any hesitation. I also recommend to take the breakfast. Lovely setting and high quality, local products (best honey ever tried). To have a decent sized pool after a day of exploring the city is an additional advantage.

My wife and I are retirees and had a wonderful time at this very warm and serene bed and breakfast just a short walk to the center of town. As soon as you walk in you felt the comfort and beauty of their back yard garden area where we sat and enjoyed nature. There is also a very nice pool adjacent to the gardens to cool off after a day of touring. Oliver and Laurence were great hosts; helping us in every way possible with choice of restaurants, and how to get around Avignon and surrounding areas by using trains and buses, and even helped us with our luggage. We were in their Babylone Suite which is on the top floor, it was a spacious room including the bathroom. The stairwell was narrow but we had no problems walking the steps. If you like B&Bs or want a change from a hotel, this is a great place to stay and the hosts just adds to a wonderful experience.

We stayed here for two nights to explore the Châteauneuf du Pape wine region. This bed and breakfast was more standard than luxury but the building itself and the setting are beautiful. I’m certain it is a wonderful spot for a wedding or special event. The land is near train tracks and a major highway, but still manages to feel like the country. The family that runs it seemed kind. Arrive during the day if you can, as when we arrived later in the evening, it was dark and our host did not turn many lights on for our benefit. We enjoyed the fresh simple breakfast and slept well in room number three. Our bathroom was clean and modern. They have two handsome dogs and a cat that wander the dining room, lobby and property. Unfortunately, there was an off-putting smell in the lobby that was especially prevalent when the doors were shut in the evening.

This Auberge really made the trip special. From the moment my family arrived we knew this would be a special place - the two hunting dogs greeted us and we met the owners who were more than gracious. We were let in our room a bit early to drop off luggage and explore the beautiful area. The location is incredible especially since we had a rental car and needed a nice spot to park just close to all the big sights. The breakfast was terrific and the beds comfortable. My daughter loved the pool and the grounds which are very gorgeous. The only very minor issue was there was a tiny leak in our skylight since it was raining hard one day we were there. The auberge provided umbrellas and tips to help with the rain. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a memorable experience with other lovely guests.

Nice looking place, but rooms very small and look a bit worn. Bathrooms were modern but umpractical with no enclosure for shower. Food was good, but duck was tough

A beautiful spot. We stayed on our Via Rhôna ride, but this is a lovely hotel however you get there. The dogs Bob and Marley are an excellent bonus!

A wonderful and welcoming restaurant, just over the bridge in Avignon. Excellent food and service in a beautiful old house on the river. Well worth the short walk or Uber from town. Reservations recommended, choice of set menus.

The hotel is beautiful. The owner is very nice . The restaurant is perfect but we made a mistake booking ,The suite Capeline . It is NOT a room for 4 adults. It is perfect for a family with KIDS. The second room , very uncomfortable , too small.

The rooms are nice and clean. The breakfast is Provençal and the restaurant is well-run with tapas in an African setting. A lovely pool and many hidden ‘caves’ makes the nice garden with fruit trees and beautiful flowers complete. Thanks for a very nice week at this estate near Avignon 🤗

Loved our stay at Mas Capelou. We rented a 2 bedroom suite which was perfect for us. Well decorated, manicured grounds, heated pool, onsite restaurant, honor system bar by the pool stocked with wine, drinks, chips etc. Our stay was peaceful and relaxing. We visted around avivnon during the day and relaxed in the evenings at this restful location. We were glad we found this hidden gem and would definitely recommend.

Just a stone throw away from Avignon city centre, this BEAUTIFUL Mas is nestled in a lush greenery. We stayed in the Suite and it was very clean. All the amenities were provided. The croissant at breakfast was to die for. Highly recommended!

Charming. Fun. Impeccably appointed. Comfy bed. Super yummy breakfast. It's a little off the beaten track - about 4km from Avignon - but that's what makes this farm b&b and gorgeous restaurant so great. Valerie and Jules are superb hosts. Loved this place. Highly recommended!

Absolutely phenomenal place - it’s beautiful, calm and so much relaxing. Rooms are great - very clean and comfortable. The owner and the staff were really nice and helpful. Hotel is located on the Barthelasse island - it is just 10 min by car to Avignon whilst being really secluded. Will go there again for sure.

Exceptional experience! We love this cozy and relaxing hotel with beautiful views on the vineyards and lavender fields. We especially loved our unforgettable dinner at Entre Vigne and the restaurant. The chef was very approachable and so welcoming. We even caught him cutting the grass with a big smile and obvious enjoyment - we loved his happy character! It was an absolute pleasure to be a guest at his restaurant and at the hotel. Thank you to the entire team.

Food and wine were fantastic. Every dish was great. Service was good, and all the servers spoke English. The only downside was the bugs. We sat outside near the bushes under a bright light that attracted them, which made the second half of the meal less enjoyable. Still, overall a very good experience.

I'm really disappointed to have to give this place 3 stars. The chefs and food are outstanding but I wouldn’t want to repeat or recommend my experience because of the terrible service we received from our server at dinner on the first night. My wife and I booked a two night stay here in October as a highlight on our month-long French road trip as it seemed perfect on paper - converted farmhouse in the countryside, casual rustic surroundings, amazing food with rooms above. The food was great. We enjoyed the tasting menu and meeting Maxime at the end of the evening, who was very friendly and hugely talented. However, our server completely reinforced the stereotypical nightmare for non-French speakers dining in France: being made to feel inferior because you’re not fluent. Everyone else we met was very friendly but the server we were paired with - for the nearly 4-hour tasting menu - Initially only spoke to us in rapid-fire French, literally looking down at us with while we tried to catch the gist of what he was saying, with no interest in helping us understand what was going on. I’ve eaten at wide range of restaurants across France, and found pretty much without fail that even with a bit of broken French, the server will work with you to communicate somehow - at best, they appreciate the attempt, at worse they think you're funny for trying - both of which I'm OK with. This guy was taking himself far too seriously for any of that! After our aperitif, we waited for approx 45 minutes before we were served another drink, including while we were having the first starter - which is a shame (and annoying!) because we were here for a lengthy, celebratory meal and staying upstairs but couldn’t get the uninterested server to help us - despite being in a room of 5 tables. Midway through the service it turned out he did speak decent English and explained some of the dishes - but by the time the cheese trolley rolled out, which I had really been looking forward to, he was back to only French and was choosing all of the cheeses for us while we were trying to ask him about them and tell him our preferences! So all in all, an awkward and expensive night; we were meant to eat here two nights in a row but our experience on the first night caused us to cancel dinner for the second night and go into Avignon for sushi instead.

A really nice lunch experience. Go for the tasting menu with matched wines - great flavour combinations, lovely presentation, delivered by attentive knowledgeable staff. Our French is pretty limited but we were made very welcome. Will definitely return.

Beautiful setting and family run restaurant, impeccable service and the food was clearly high quality - only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is it was rather rich for our taste or some slightly strange pairings (but this is more likely our palate). Wonderful experience.

It’s true, a 1 Michelin star that does not speak English. Well, this is a French phenomenon but when you are paying crazy bills you expect them at least to memorize the product they sell. We had good food, but nothing to remember, what I will always remember is the fact that the waiter did not addressed at me once when he realized I did not spoke French. Not recommended at all, the only good thing is that the bar is so low that after this, even an average Parisian terrace will fulfill your dreams.

Very tasty menu and excellent customer service. The personnel was helpful and was speaking English for us, where our knowledge of French was insufficient. The gardens were beautiful and invited for a stroll after the food.

We stayed with a group of friends at la maison de l’Olivier à Avignon for two nights this week. Walking up you would never expect how beautiful their property is! When you walk in the gate the hotel is gorgeous sanctuary in the middle of the city! The garden is beautiful and there is a nice patio to eat with friends. The rooms are beautiful and spacious and just as nice as any hotel I have stayed at. It was quiet and the beds were very comfortable so I had a great night sleep. Florian and Emmanuelle were kind, welcoming hosts and very responsive to communication. I highly recommend!

The three days at La Maison de L'Olivier were not enough! We could have stayed there indefinitely! Everything was wonderful. You could not ask for a better location, lovely CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN room, delicious breakfast, beautiful garden, and the most gracious host. We were treated like royalty. Too good to keep to ourselves, we had to share a review. If you are going to Avignon, treat yourself to this charming guest house. Just hope we can still get it if we return to France! Amazing stay! Florian and Emmanuelle make you feel like family. I stayed in the rooftop room, which had a beautiful view from the balcony. Owners gave lots of suggestions of their favorite restaurants, spots to sightsee, etc.

Lovely little private hotel in the old town of Avignon within the old city walls. The hotel is modernly restored in an old building and you can feel how proud the owners are about the project. Stay at least 2 nights so you have time for the beautiful backyard and pool. I recommend to enjoy the home-made breakfast in a homely atmosphere - it feels like you are part of the family!

We had a wonderful stay here, and were lucky enough to be there at a time when we pretty much had the place to ourselves! The location is great, in that it is a short walk from the central square in Avignon, and in an area that is near schools so is less full of tourists. There are shops for essentials just steps from the door, and also some charming local restaurants. Each room is outfitted with the latest technology that drives the tub, the air conditioning and the blissfull steam shower for days when it is a little cooler. They also have great little kitchenettes where you can keep your own snacks and drinks in between exploring the delightful local culinary options. We love Avignon, and loved discovering this new little gem, to which we’ll happily return on our next trip!

My husband and I stayed for 5 nights in May 2024 at this wonderful Bed and Breakfast. We were in the beautiful Garden Suite. It was even more special than all of the positive 5 star reviews we read. Florian and Emanuelle are fantastic hosts who went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. They offered numerous suggestions about restaurants, special sights to visit in the city and even day trips that we might find interesting. They even walked with us to where we had originally parked our car in the public lot to make sure we knew how to get back to the right location. The days we chose to have breakfast on site were well worth the additional cost. The food was all very fresh and delicious! The location is perfect for exploring Avignon. We would definitely return and stay here.

Hidden gem in Avignon with great hosts! We were warmly welcomed and the place is really beautiful. In the middst of the city, but it is quite and relaxed. Everything is well taken care of and has a personal touch. Can only recommend it!

Eclectic aesthetics! I love how secluded you could feel staying here yet 5 min walk away you can already reach the busy streets and the Pape’s palace. Service is good, room is clean, and I love the garden area and the beautiful landscape. If you expect the service that of a five star big hotel, it’s not here. But if you appreciate the 5-room only privacy and a good service that’s not intrusive, you’ll find it here

We only stayed one night at La Divine Comedie but we made the most of it! Tom and Dorian were both amazingly welcoming, giving us interesting info on the house and making recommendations and ensuring our comfort. They both made the stay special with their above and beyond service. The house and gardens are just breathtaking and in room massages were a treat. You pay more here and you do get more.

This is a long overdue review for a phenomenal stay at the Divine Comedy, but my phone recently served me up a number of photos that allowed me to imagine I was once again resting by the pool at the Divine Comedy, in what feels like a garden oasis, but is in fact right in the middle of Avignon. My wife and I stayed here this past summer during the Avignon theatre festival and we couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful and charming stay touched off by the property having such a lovely and pleasant team. We enjoyed a great breakfast in the gardens before heading out to see shows and explore the city during the day, until we were in need of an afternoon swim to revitalize us. Can’t wait to be back in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I had a delightful stay at this charming house in March '24, which was low season but nevertheless, all rooms were occupied. The house was warm, cozy and totally charming with many unusual features and artefacts. Dorian the Manager was very helpful and friendly. The floors are a bit creaky which is fine for such an old house but some inconsiderate people in the room above me walked around with hard shoes and woke me at 2am! Breakfast was wonderful and fresh and the garden spectacular. I will definitely return. Parking available - make sure you get clear directions before you go, as the streets of Avignon are very confusing. Hope this is helpful DW

One of the most special places we have ever stayed!! It is so romantic and serene. A hidden surprise behind a huge door with gorgeous sprawling gardens, curious and romantic decorations, and kind staff. We stayed in the yellow room and had views of the pope’s castle and gardens. The room is huge with all the amenities. It was very quiet and a true delight to stay here. We wish we could live here!! Highly recommend if wanting a special stay in Avignon.

The most magical place in Avignon! The hotel is beautiful, both interior and exterior. The breakfast is fresh, delicious and perfect start to the day! The team, especially Maxence, was so accommodating! The pool spa is a must, very relaxing! Be sure to reserve it! The rooms were very comfortable and equipped with nice linens and toiletries. The rooms have air conditioning but opening the windows to get a breeze was even better. This house was the highlight of our trip. It’s a quiet hidden oasis in the center of Avignon. You can walk everywhere. My daughter loved greeting the dogs everyday. Every aspect of the stay made you feel as though you were at home. Look no further and stay here as you won’t regret it! One of the prettiest places we have ever stayed - loved how it was tucked away in Avignon behind a large door. Had no idea what we were talking into, and the gardens around it were just the beginning. It is beautifully landscaped and decorated with a romantic and whimsical touch. A true gem of a place that we will definitely come back to in the future. We stayed in the yellow room and loved the view of the gardens plus pope’s castle. Highly recommend!!

We had the most wonderful 2-night stay at the beautiful villa of Jacques and Benoit! First of all, they were both so welcoming and made us feel right at home. Every centimeter of Clos Saluces is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Breakfast includes homemade cakes and jams by Benoit and you get to enjoy it in their lovely garden. It's also in a perfect location to be able to discover Avignon by foot. Highly, highly recommend!

His attention to detail and genuine hospitality made our stay unforgettable. Having a breakfast made by Benoit personally in the garden was just unreal. On his recommendation, we had dinner at Coin Caché — and it turned out to be the best meal we’ve had in France. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend staying here if you want both luxury and a personal touch!

This place is magical! Garden, rooms, breakfast, but most of all Jacques and Benoit’s service. Superb! You feel as if you were at your friend’s mansion in Provence, not in a hotel. Beautifully located in the centre, but quiet. You only hear the birds when you open your windows in the morning. I highly recommend this hotel.

Le Clos Saluces is an absolute dream! Benoit and Jacques made us feel so welcome. The rooms are beautifully designed and the garden is truly a hidden gem. We had an amazing time at Le Clos Saluces and didn't want to leave. The house is so beautiful, nicely renovated and decorated. You can feel that the hosts put a lot of attention to details. The room was clean, spacious and absolutely beautiful. The garden is lovely to sit in. The breakfast is delicious with fresh local products, homemade jam and everyday new pastries made by Benoit in the morning. The absolute highlight are the hosts Benoit and Jacques. Both are so friendly, welcoming, funny and they make sure you have everything you need (Incl. restaurant recommendations and reservations). We miss having them around already. Our heartfelt thanks to our gracious host for such a lovely stay. The accommodation was spacious, beautifully appointed, and exceptionally comfortable. The bed was a true pleasure to sleep in, and the kitchen was thoughtfully equipped with all the necessary appliances, including a well-sized refrigerator. Every detail had been considered with care. The garden at the side of the house was a particular delight. Tranquil and inviting, it featured a charming little pool - perfect for a refreshing dip on a warm afternoon. It also served as a most pleasant setting for breakfast, where we enjoyed our morning meal in the gentle breeze under the open sky. Breakfast itself was generous and varied, presented with warmth and care. Our host welcomed us not as mere guests, but rather with the kindness and ease of a friend. Despite only having one day to discover Avignon, staying at Maison Grivolas made our short trip amazing. The communication from the owners before arrival was great, they made recommendations which were all spot on, starting with delicious food spots. You can really feel how much they care about everything being flawless, from every small detail in the apartments to your experience in Avignon as a whole. The breakfast was absolutely stunning. We would love to come back!

The property is located very close to everything in the city centre. The host is so kind and extremely helpful to explain the surrounding town and share great ideas for exploring along with great restaurants. The rooms are very clean and the beds were super comfortable. We would stay again during our next trip. Don’t hesitate to book here!

Staying at La Maison Grivolas for a few days was a wonderful ending to a 3 week vacation. The location was perfect to walk around the city, or to drive to the surrounding towns. The room was beautiful, spacious and comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious. Our host was able to help us find the best places and times to enjoy the city. I will come back to spend more time in the area, and definitely stay again.

Mathieu and his wife were wonderful hosts and their guesthouse was an absolute highlight of our 28 day trip! The guesthouse itself was impeccable and our rooms were appointed with everything one could ask for while travelling - the detail and room styling was exquisite. Each bedroom had its own bathroom, beds were super comfortable and the garden and pool area was a stunning place to take breakfast, relax or have a swim! We took advantage of everything La Maison Grivolas had to offer - in particular, Mathieu's superior knowledge of Avignon. His advice on what to see and do was always on point, and for the last night he made a reservation for us at a beautiful restaurant to celebrate our time in Avignon and surrounds. The breakfast daily was a particular treat with the freshest, homemade produce and the joy of having a traditional French breakfast to start our day. Got to stay at a very lovely studio apartment which has a door that lead to the old street. The apartment was comfortable and fully equipped. We decided to take our morning slow with a breakfast made by owner Mathieu which he said we wouldn't regret and we didn't. He was most kind picking us up from the streets and guiding us to the parking lot.

Jean-Luc is the most welcoming host. He allowed us to check-in early and had the aircon in our room already turned on to cool it down. The quad room itself is spacious and comfortable. Breakfast is filling with cheeses, cold-cuts and pastries (and an order to finish everything!!). Jean-Luc also gave us very helpful restaurant recommendations (Le 46 in particular).

An exceptionally beautiful place to stay, run by an exceptionally dedicated and friendly host. Our dog was welcome, the room very nice and the breakfast very tasty. It's an inspiring, quiet place with lots of ambience, and yet the centre of Avignon is very close. And once again a thank you to the host Jean-Luc from Thea, Fiko and Chewy, we felt very comfortable!

This review is a bit delayed but Jean-Luc and his amazing place is a true gem. The location might not be “city Centre” but it’s a great find, especially when you need a break from all of the train stations, crowds, and constant hustle of day to day life and/or travel. I can wait to go back!

We had an unbelievable experience staying here. The property is gorgeous from the beautiful room, views of the city, quiet neighborhood and the pool in what felt like a “Secret Garden”. My favourite place on my recent road trip around France. This chambres d'hotes was incredible - gorgeous grounds, an authentic, rustic aesthetic that felt so genuinely southern French, spacious, comfortable rooms, and a beautiful view overlooking the Rhone towards Avignon and the Palais des Papes. Our host, Folco, was the definition of welcoming and courteous - he graciously spoke English to my partner and I, showed us to our room, helped us with our bags, gave us restaurant recommendations and assisted with a reservation, and provided great service during the amazing breakfast he put out every morning. He deserves all the credit in the world. Not only is the location beautiful, but it is ideally located to explore Avignon and Villeneuve-les-Avignon. The latter is only a ~10 minute walk, and is a gorgeous old French village that has really retained it's charm and character. Right by this village is the spectacular Fort St Andre, that shouldn't be missed! You're also just a 5 minute drive to the Avignon Park and Ride; from there, you're just a 15 minute walk to old town Avignon, and all the amazing history, architecture, and art that city has to offer. I hope to return to Avignon one day, and when I do, I would definitely look to stay here again.

We loved Maison Orsini. I very much want to return. The owner was so attentive. The location was gorgeous - afforded an expansive view of the whole area. Breakfast was delicious. I think if you are traveling with a car as we were - it is THE BEST place to stay in Avignon. They have private protected parking just across the street. Falco was so wonderfully welcoming and accommodating. We felt like we were at home instantly. Got one of the “suites” with an amazing view of Avignon’s old town plus a large deep bathtub that we thoroughly enjoyed. And breakfast was delightful. Would love to come back.

Absolutely wonderful! The charm and class of what you would hope for on a trip to Avignon is what you will find at this beautiful B&B, hotel, residence, … not sure what to call it, except, … experience. First, with the owners/hosts, Sabine and Patrick, they are multilingual, very gracious, and clearly are interested in guests comfort and first class experience. From the homemade quiche, ratatouille, jams, yogurt, to the local breads, fresh various coffees (Nespresso to American brew), fresh fruit, they delight us with a beautiful morning start. They don’t have on sight parking but were extremely helpful in taking us to the car park, helped us with our laundry (actually washed two loads for us). They provided many restaurant suggestions, helped with reservations, and it goes on. The beautiful rooms are all around a beautiful flower garden courtyard, our room even had a terrace overlooking the terrace. I don’t want to ruin any more surprises, just come and enjoy, … this will be one of those places, and experiences, to remember. Avignon is beautiful and full of things to see and enjoy.

My partner and I just spent a couple nights at this wonderful place. We found the location away from the very touristy area of Avignon just perfect. It was a close walk (maybe 5-10 minutes) to some of the main attractions and it was easy to get to a bus stop to explore Villeneuve Lez Avignon just across the river (highly recommend). Lots of good restaurants and small shops very close to the hotel. I would say the ONLY thing we found lacking at the hotel: good pillows... they were flat and encased in a thick plastic.... not enough of an issue to rate below 5 stars and Nicholas was kind enough to give us two additional pillows. Just surprising because everything else was top tier and very comfortable. The courtyard in the middle of the rooms/apartments was an oasis that made you feel very much away from the busy streets. Very quiet, well appointed without being fussy. And Nicholas was very kind in orienting us upon arrival with suggestions and directions. Would definitely stay again.

If you are looking for French charm, excellent location and a warm welcome as if you are family, this is your place!! Sabine and Patrick are THE consummate hosts! My room (#5) was super clean, with AC, a little kitchenette, and very comfortable. A sweet little courtyard is the perfect place for resting. You will not want to leave this place!!

We stayed three nights in the attic room at Aux Augustins and it was wonderful! The room was clean and comfortable and the aircon meant it didn’t get too hot (even when it was 30+C outside). The terrace next to the bell tower was really picturesque and a lovely place to sit. The owners were super friendly and helpful, plus location was excellent (but not at all noisy)!

We enjoyed our stay at Aux Augustins very much. Our room was spacious, well-organized, clean, and very quiet. We received a very warm welcome from Patrick, who made sure that we had everything that we needed for our stay. Patrick even offered us an additional night free! Aux Augustins is conveniently located for the sights in Avignon, but was also far enough away from the tourist areas so that it was quiet. Our only problem was that there was some road construction work near the apartment building, but we did not hear any noise from it in our apartment, and we were able to find ways to avoid walking near the construction. We highly recommend Aux Augustins!

We booked a comfortable studio apartment in this restored monastery. It had a small kitchen which was good for making breakfasts, tea & coffee and heating food. The room was spacious, well designed and comfortable and we had a large modern bathroom. It's in a great location just minutes away from bakeries, supermarkets, bars and restaurants and short walk to all the attractions. We had a car which we parked for free at the Les Italiens car park which was a 10 minute walk away.

We really enjoyed staying here, the hosts are very friendly and helpful. The house is like a funky art gallery with all kinds of interesting artefacts. Our room was very comfortable and a lovely place to stay. We got the shuttle into Avignon, which is fully pedestrianised and enjoyed a meal in Le Foux de Fafa. A very memorable stay.

‘Villa Pauline’ in Avignon exceeded our expectations! Hosts, Kristian and Michelle made us feel incredibly welcome and their knowledge of the area, provided us with great recommendations for sights to see and places to eat.

Very tasteful design, the hosts would go out their eay to make the guests feel comfortable. I stayed with my wife only for one night because we were transiting France on our way to Spain. We definitely recommend the location and their services, will return with every occasion i'll have to spend more than 1 night at the location and get to visit Avignon.

Budget overstay, preferably for one or two nights. Excellent location with walking access to shops, dining, and city centre. The room was really nice and clean and comfortable. Small welcome gifts of chocolate and morning coffee were nice. There's not much room for your stuff. No breakfast and no hot water, no matter how far you turn the tab to the chaud mark. I liked the cosy lounge a lot, but didn't like the place on the whole. It's old and shabby. Doors and stairs like an old warehouse. Kitchen and bathroom are clean but really seen better days, too old and rustic to use. In short, just bearable for one short night.

At the end of the day, you get what you pay for! It was reasonably priced and well located in terms of proximity to Avignon's historic centre, if a little difficult to find. Breakfast was cereal, but no milk and no choice. That said the communal lounge was comfortable, as were the beds, but the toilet was tiny and the shower only gave cold water. I’m really shocked at how this hotel has a 4.6 review and maybe I completely missed something but I feel like I’m being quite generous with a 1 star rating. The rooms are a bit old and tired and nothing in them screams “5 star”. We were fresh off a stay at another SLH hotel location in Barcelona which was fantastic and truly a 5 star experience with friendly and helpful staff and great rooms. This location is like a €100 hotels.com pick. The “complimentary water” was a cheap plastic bottle and the in room coffee wouldn’t even be fitting for a Best Western. At breakfast, we had a juice spill on the table. Not one staff member offered to help, or even a napkin. They’re completely disengaged. Additionally, the location isn’t convenient to anything and the outside of the building, and neighborhood, were not exactly impressive. The cherry on top was them trying to charge me for an extra breakfast for my 2 year old who ate a croissant. This property is not deserving to be within the SLH property group with Hilton and is a poor representation of the Hilton brand.

Stayed here for three nights on our honeymoon and had wonderful time. The food is exceptional, as was the service. I loved the gardens and the pool was the perfect temperature (I hate cold pools - but this one was really easy to get into).

This hotel was a pleasant experience. It is definitely not worth the price that we paid but it was not a bad hotel. The rooms were very nice, standard size for what I would expect in Europe. The shower and bath were nice and we used both. It was cold so we didn't use the outdoor pool, but the indoor pool, hot tub and spa were nice. Breakfast was a disappointment after our stay at a different SLH location in Narbonne but was acceptable. The negatives are room layout vs office location and how to get to the breakfast area. We initially kind of got lost trying to find the breakfast area the first day. The paths are not flat, they are natural rock paths which made rolling luggage difficult. Only one restaurant and it's very expensive. The location itself is fine and felt safe, but it is not a hotel to book if you want to Uber from the airport and plan to walk everywhere. We read this on other reviews and we had a rental car because our main plan was visiting tasting rooms in Gigondas and Chateauneuf de Pape so it didn't cause us any issues.

A very cute country hotel. Would prefer if the very Provençal exterior was melded with a more modern interior but did not ruin our stay. Beware that the hotel charges things to your room in error (I’m going it’s an error and not theft!) all the time. They charged us for breakfast every day which we did not have, and charged us twice for our laundry. Similar happened to the friends we were with on the breakfast.

What a gem this place is. My husband and I are still gushing over how lovely it was. The pictures and description on the website are so glowing, I honestly braced myself to not be disappointed (as that has happened before). From the moment we walked in the lobby, til the moment we left, I felt like we were in paradise. Our room was beautiful, even lovelier in person. The private terrace was so peaceful, after we left, we somewhat regretted not staying a few extra days and doing nothing. The food is excellent too. I didn’t have time to try out the spa. Le Pontet is about 15 minutes drive by Uber to Avignon. We found this very easy. The hotel also has parking if you’d rather rent a car. I think it’s the perfect way to be close to the action and enjoy some quiet time. You won’t be disappointed.

My wife and I loved this place. Charming, beautiful grounds. Warm, friendly service. We loved hanging out on the hotel grounds. Staff helped us carry bags every step of the way. Convenient parking. If I could offer the hotel one bit of of advice it would be to make the showers / tubs have a barrier (wall or curtain) so water doesn’t get all over the floor — which it can all too easily, even if you’re careful. Besides that — only good things to say. We wish we’d booked another night or 2 (we stayed 3).

We had some issues with our car on arrival, Phillipe at reception was super helpful, providing immediate and ongoing help to sort out the situation during our stay. All staff were friendly and courteous and all restaurant recommendations for dining in Villeneuve-les Avignon were excellent.

We normally go straight to our house rental after flying in from New York City, but this year we arrived a few days early so we could visit the Saturday brocante in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. We stayed at Le Prieuré and it was a lovely experience. The hotel has friendly staff, a nice pool, and beautiful grounds. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant this time as we were looking for something more casual, but the restaurant looked excellent. The concierge recommended a nearby place that was a few minuteswalking, which turned out to be exactly what we wanted. If you are visiting Avignon, staying in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon at Le Prieuré is a great option. We hope to return in the future.

We made a pilgrimage to reception for toilet paper and waited an hour at the bar for a single drink. Speaking of their bar: with exceptional restaurants like La Cabane and Flo’s only a few steps away, it’s worth noting that a bottle of wine at these superior establishments costs the same as one glass at Le Prieuré (and arrives before you’ve fallen asleep). We splurged on a suite for three nights. Management never bothered with introductions, our room was cleaned exactly once, and our bill featured several creative additions (including a €6 apple juice for our toddler that exists only in the hotel’s imagination). If you’re going to parade around with five stars, perhaps consider actually earning them. A four-star rating would at least offer guests the pleasant surprise of exceeded expectations rather than the current disappointment. Well, nothing to say except book a room here and you'll be proud of your decision. Great spacious rooms. Too spacious for Europe. Amazing pool, breakfast, grounds and free parking. But the highlight has to be the area around. More charming than the crowded historic Avignon. Cute shops and restaurants around.

It’s nice and has a lively pool and garden surroundings. It’s basically like any other French hotel. Staff are casual and laid back. On the surface it looks clean and well managed. Stay a night or 2 and it all unravels to not the best stay. Rooms are cluttered dusty and hospitality staff average.

Our stay at le Prieure was outstanding. It was our first stop in Provence and it did not disappoint. The staff were extremely helpful and responsive to our questions about the hotel and its surroundings. The suite was clean and roomy for the 3 of us and overlooked the beautiful garden and pool. The town was so charming and had a great bakery and spots to eat within walking distance. If they weren’t sold out we would’ve stayed more than our 3 nights. We would definitely come back to this hotel.

Right on the main square. Beautiful old building with unique room configurations. Modern amenities and a cute breakfast area off the main lobby that looks like an arboretum. Walking distance to attractions. I would stay there again and recommend it for short stays while traveling. Only downside is no car parking at the hotel although you can drive up, drop your bags and parking is just a 5 minute walk away.

Extremely disappointed with Hôtel de l’Horloge. We had to cancel our reservation 1.5 days in advance due to circumstances completely out of our control. Our rental car was unexpectedly cancelled, trains were fully booked, and we were left stranded with our 7-month-old baby. I contacted the hotel immediately, explained everything, and asked if they could show some flexibility, as this was only meant to be a short stopover on our way to a wedding. Since there were no available tickets via Avignon, we had no choice but to take a different route. Their response came two days later, by which time it was very clear they had chosen profit over compassion. Booking.com showed goodwill and refunded our car rental, understanding that these situations can happen, especially when traveling with a small baby. Hôtel de l’Horloge, however, chose greed.

I had some trouble during my trip when my rental car broke down, and I found it very difficult to communicate because of the language barrier. I was really in a tough situation, but the hotel staff went out of their way to help me as if it were their own problem. Their kindness and dedication truly touched my heart. Thanks to their wonderful help, everything was sorted out smoothly, and I was able to enjoy the rest of my trip. I’m deeply grateful to all the staff and wish the hotel continued success. I’ll definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Avignon!

It's perfectly at heart of the inner town. We enjoyed start our morning at the terrace which is directly above the historic street. The room is cozy and the crews are nice and helpful. The only drawback is, there's one night being a bit noisy (we are at French 1st Floor). Probably because of the Avignon festival;)

We had a room overlooking the square and it was very pretty and quiet thanks to excellent air conditioning. Beds perfect for me with medium firm supportive mattress. The breakfast was high quality, better than some 5 star hotels, I particularly enjoyed the pain au chocolat which were warm and rich. Staff friendly and made an effort with guests from all over the world.

Disappointing Experience Despite a Charming Setting We stayed at Hotel Europe in Avignon for one night, from April 30th to May 1st. The hotel itself has undeniable charm—an elegant, old-style luxury with a lot of character. Our room was particularly spacious and included a cute little balcony. The location is also excellent: perfectly situated to explore Avignon on foot. However, our overall experience was unfortunately marred by a serious lack of consideration for guests’ comfort. We paid around €460 for the night, expecting a restful and high-end stay. Instead, on the morning of May 1st— a public holiday—we were woken up at 9 a.m. (possibly even earlier) by what can only be described as construction-site noise: loud banging, metal being cut, and heavy machinery sounds. When I opened the window, I could see that the noise was coming from some sort of renovation or construction work within the hotel itself. We eventually got up and decided to check out earlier than planned. During check-out, the receptionist politely asked how our stay had been, and I responded honestly, expressing that it was unacceptable to disturb guests with such intense noise at that hour, especially on a holiday morning. Her response was quite dismissive—she mentioned they were “installing mirrors or something like that”—and proceeded to charge me an additional €26.60 for the use of the parking without acknowledging the inconvenience we experienced. Let me be clear: this complaint is not about the money. It’s about manners and respect for the guest. When a customer points out that their sleep was disturbed by noise caused by the hotel itself, and particularly when that customer is staying at a so-called 5-star property and paying close to €500 per night, the very least you would expect is a gesture of goodwill. Waiving the parking fee or offering a token of apology would have been appropriate and professional. We chose this hotel hoping for a restful and luxurious experience. Instead, I left feeling disappointed and unrested. It’s a pity because the hotel really does have potential. But service matters just as much as style—and this was not the service one should expect from a 5-star establishment.

This hotel was built in the 1600s and has a beautiful, welcoming courtyard and offered us excellent service at the front desk and from the valets. We had a superior room, which opened to a quaint courtyard and balcony with seating area. At night we had drinks in the common area but didn’t not try any of the food options. Air conditioning was superb and provided a respite from the warm Provençal sun. My only criticism was that the room was a tiny bit shabby and would benefit from a refurbishing.

Beautiful place, excellent service from a very friendly and accomodating staff. Good, spacious room for 2 adults and a child (junior sutite). Air condition in room should be improved, it was barely sufficient to cool down the room during 4 days of 30+ degrees. Good, spacious pool with free (non-alcoholic) refreshments available, and with sufficient amount of sunbeds available. Food at restaurant is excellent, however it should also be so considering that the price is rather high. Breakfast is also good , but it is the same meny that is served every day (no buffet), which may become boring after some days. All in all: Excellent place, highly recommended.

Very nice place and excellent location. We stayed 5 night at Le Clos Des Cypres as a central point for sightseeing through the Provence area - Avignon, Luberon, Port du Gard, Arles, Camargue and many more. The host Valerie gave us valuable tipps and recommendation for our daily tours. Additionally we enjoyed the excellent private dinner with only two other guest couples, cooked by Stephane!

THE place to stay in the Provence. Surrounded by a beautiful garden and swimming pool we stayed in the suite. A spacious room with separate bathroom and toilet. Outside terras next to the pool. Valerie and her husband run this business with a big smile. Every morning a very very nice fresh breakfast and 3 times a week you can haven a delicious dinner. Daily a super clean room with always a little sweet surprise on your bed. From their place you can easily drive to all the beautiful villages in max a half an hour drive. Sat to leave this place but a good reason to return.

We stayed here for 3 nights in early July and had and exceptional experience! Valérie is an exceptional host and the space is absolutely delightful. Everything is very thoughtfully designed and truly enjoyable. The gourmet dinners were an unexpected surprise - hands down the best food we enjoyed during our visit to Provence. The setting is perfect and I highly recommend this place.

We felt that we needed to write a review which somewhat balances earlier reviews, in which incredibly positive comments were shared that we can really not agree to. On the positive side, the rooms of Le Clos des cypres are reasonably tastefully furnished, air conditioned, and Valerie, the host, most definitely tries to accommodate here guests in the best way possible. While the good intentions are without any doubt there, the execution is at best mediocre. What cannot be seen on the gorgeous photos is that a good part of the garden actually looks rather neglected, the pool chairs look cheap and were partly broken. The rather tasteless jacuzzi is an eye sore and just to make sure, its use is charged in addition to the regular room price. So are, to our utter disbelief, the scrambled eggs, for which the hosts charge 7 euros per portion. Excuse me??? 7 Euros for a small portion of eggs? Never, ever have we been charged for eggs in an accommodation which charges around 200 Euros per night. To make things worse, the quality of the breakfast products was simply poor. While Provence is one big fruit and vegetable basked from May to September, we got imported sliced bananas for breakfast, together with the most terrible coffee and a poor selection of cheeses and meat. Worse of all, however, is the traffic from the main street, situated approximately 80 meters away from the pool. The resulting traffic noise, often caused by trucks rushing by, was unbearable for us, as we were seeking a quiet and relaxed stay. Needless to say we checked out early and to be fair, did appreciate that Valerie agreed to cancel the rest of the stay. Overall, we would not come back and cannot recommend this place to people who appreciate quietness and quality at the given price level.

Its a very big house with many rooms and actually share with them and other visitors breakfast on their common large table. My experience was nice because we spoke with the other visitors and they were friendly. However, i can imagine being very awkward and not comfortable for some people. Rooms were big but it felt like they were not renovated , so plugs were not attached to the walls, wall papers were also damaged and it can be more cleaned... Location and owner were friendly and super nice. Bathroom was outside the room, but that is anyway very clear in the description when booking. Overall, i think that the price is higher than what is offered, but Avignon is a very touristic place and its in general like that.

Each space had its own charm and made us feel right at home. Our hosts, Fabienne and her husband François, were incredibly warm, attentive, and always ready to help. Even though we don’t speak French, communication was easy and smooth – a mix of smiles, gestures, and a little English worked perfectly. One thing we especially appreciated was their generosity: while we were off cycling through the beautiful landscapes of Provence, they kindly let us leave our car at the property. We were also able to use the washing machine, enjoy the pool, and even have breakfast when we needed it – all in a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
