Oh my, please do yourself a favour and come and check this place out. A hidden gem Is an understatement. As a full time global traveller and foodie this place was an absolute marvel. From the warm smiling greeting that we received on arrival, it was sure to be a great experience. Dutchman’s street restaurant-Matara The restaurant and area is so nice. Very different design and feel for Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 and after a month of solely dining on Sri Lankan cuisine it was a pleasant change. There’s so much seating. You can choose to sit inside/ upstairs/outside adjacent to restaurant or right down near the beach. Very flexible. All the staff were truly amazing. We ordered some beverages which were the classic mojito mocktail and the Pani Doram. These were so refreshing. Very intriguing menu, it’s sure to get your tastebuds flying. While waiting for our quesadillas we went for a walk around. There is so much to look at and see. Very quirky and well designed. I just love this place and I’m already planning on returning tomorrow to try something else on the menu and take another look around. Wow wow wow Highly recommended

Dutchman Street – home of the best French fries in Sri Lanka! Crispy, golden, and dangerously addictive. We paired them with cold beers while strolling down the beautifully designed street, full of charm, lights, and a really nice vibe. Perfect spot to snack, sip, and soak in the lively, relaxed atmosphere — fries this good deserve a standing ovation.

Helpful staff with a good atmosphere, especially suited for evenings. The food is of high quality, with no MSG. I tried the Thai seafood rice rated 9/10, chicken stir fry rated 9/10, pani dodam rated 10/10, and lava cake with ice cream rated 9/10.

What a quaint, lovely place! Absolutely loved the design of the premises. Lovely that the yard leads to the beach, we had a little walk after our meal as well. Food was good, the burgers and pizza was really nice. However the ‘Isso dunthel buth’ needs to be renamed because it was NOT dunthel buth (ghee rice). It did have a generous amount of prawns in it which I do appreciate. But the rice was closer to a teriyaki flavor. Another thing is, that unsecured well in the middle of the path is an accident waiting to happen. The walls are quite low so a small child could easily fall in! Management should either cover it with a mesh or plexiglass to secure it.

We had the loveliest evening at Zephyr, and I honestly can’t stop thinking about it. The food was sensational – the barramundi was so tender and delicate that it just melted in the mouth, and the battered prawns with wasabi mayo were a real treat. They were so fresh and crisp, with that little kick from the mayo making them absolutely addictive. For my main, I went with the pan-fried king prawns on egg noodles, and it was spot on – full of flavour, and beautifully presented. What really made the night though was the atmosphere and the people. Anthony who served us, was simply brilliant. Not only was he warm and attentive, but he turned out to be incredibly talented as well – he spoke about five or six languages (Hindi, Arabic, Japanese, Tamil, Sinhalese, and English!), which was impressive in itself. He even told us about the turtles that sometimes come up to the beach at night, which made the whole experience feel even more special. He also helped us with the menu, offering thoughtful suggestions that turned out to be spot on. The drinks were refreshing and, importantly, the perfect size – enough to enjoy without being too much. And to top it all off, the sunset by the beach was absolutely stunning – the kind of view you just sit back and take in, wishing the evening could last a little longer. Zephyr really does tick all the boxes – delicious food, a beautiful setting, and staff who genuinely make you feel welcome. We’ll definitely be back when we are in Weligama.

My partner and I stopped into Zephyr on the way up to Hikkaduwa for some lunch and found this amazing place! The location, view and atmosphere were incredible right on the beach. We ordered the pork ribs, pesto pasta and a mango cocktail. All items exceeded our expectations and were absolutely fantastic. The pork ribs were incredibly tender- falling off the bone with the perfect sweet sauce. The pesto pasta was creamy, flavourful and delicious to say the least. All staff were friendly, attentive and kind towards us, catering to any needs. The venue had a great beach vibe and was very clean, including the wash rooms. We definitely recommend this great spot if you're in the area, the food or drinks won't disappoint! :)))

My absolute highlight in the area! Super nice and attentive staff; perfectly situated at the beach with shaded tables but also in-sun beach tables for the sunset lover. Food is astonishingly tasty and still affordable; accompanied by world class drinks! Been here twice now and definitely will come back again!

It does not get much better than fresh seafood on the beach. Well it does when its accompanied by lovely service. The food was spectacular, especially the prawn curry and the fried king prawns. Everything was so great in fact that we ended up gping two nights in a row!

Very nice and relaxed place and friendly staff. We had the seafood salad, the crab curry and the prawn curry. Everything was outstanding in taste and quality. The curries one of the best we ever had (and we have been to Asia (Sri Lanka, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia…) more than 20 times. So definitely a strong recommendation.

Had a beautiful meal at Akila’s kitchen this evening. Food was freshly made and super tasty. Delicious food that’s definitely worth the wait! Chef Akila is so welcoming and friendly, and the place is managed only by him and his family. The food is extremely delicious, the whole family work there and treat you with love. I had the grilled fish, it was insanely good seasones and cooked(picture). They are trying to rebuild the restaurant they had that due to a fire was lost. Highly recommend it

My dinner at Aklias restaurant was incredible, he was so friendly and his food was made from scratch in his outdoor kitchen, it was so delicious that I brought 3 friends with me the next night and he prepared a beautiful fish dish for us! Would recommend to anyone staying in Weligama, incredible food made with lots of love!

This place is a hidden gem in Weligama 💎 The tastiest food we tried in whole Sri-Lanka without doubts. Mr. Akila has a huge experience working as a main chef before in hotels and his own restaurant. Highly recommend! You will not regret.

Akila is Just a cooking Legend! I LOVE that the menu is quite small, he basically just offers his favorite dishes. We had the salad and vegetable massaman and Chicken massaman which were extraordinary. You can See Akila preparing the food in an Open kitchen. Only fresh ingredients, we checked. Worst restaurant I've visited in a month. There is no service at all. They don't give you an ashtray, they don't give you napkins, and while you're eating there's a swarm of flies around you. This is also the only restaurant where they did not give me, but sold me water. The next evening I walked past and noticed that the restaurant was completely empty, although the neighboring ones were crowded. So, I was not mistaken in my assumptions

Great food, nice vibe with the open air restaurants and bar. The tuna tataki was a particular highlight, as well as the delicious cream curry. Alcoholic drinks have to be ordered from the bar across but they'll bring it right to your table

The Sea Salt Society in Kurumba Bay Weligama is a mixed bag. On one hand, the dishes are overpriced and the portion sizes are small. The taste was average and the service was just okay. I noticed that the staff seemed to give better service to foreigners. On the other hand, the location is great, set in a chill spot in Kurumba Bay. The coffee, which is made with "ily" beans, is overpriced but the taste is good. However, the presentation could be better, it seems like they should have hired a proper barista to make the most of the expensive beans. Overall, I'd give my experience a 3.5/5 rating.

Delicious, but small and expensive. For the same money, it is better to go to Nomad across the street and get 2 times larger portions. Sitting on the shore is cool. They cook quickly. There are a lot of package tourists who spoil the view. Sometimes children scream.

Ordered 1/2 kg of squid for 1500lkr. However, do not think what they cook is what they displayed and showed me as there is not squid here in the cooked dish, as well as there were many more squids but much smaller, can see from the tail end of the cooked squid. Although the taste is good, but felt cheated. Will not eat from them again.

The setup is simple and charming: you choose your seafood from a stand—everything fresh and on display—then head to the beach where tables are set up, offering stunning views of the Indian Ocean and a little island offshore. A waiter takes your preferences for preparation, and if you’re a local or know what you like, they’ll even recommend the best cooking methods for each. We had a whole fish, octopus, squid, and prawns. Each dish was packed with flavor—fresh, perfectly cooked, and truly next-level in taste. The service was warm and attentive, and the pricing was very reasonable given the quality and setting. With sea breeze in your hair and fresh seafood on your plate, it’s the kind of spot you’d want to return to again and again. Highly recommend!

We stumbled upon Real Fish Point in Weligama and honestly, it looked a bit dodgy at first, we were definitely skeptical. But then we saw people eating there and decided to ask if the food was any good. To our surprise, they gave glowing feedback… so we gave it a shot. And wow, we’re so glad we did! The food totally hit the spot. Fresh, flavourful, and full of that local seafood charm. We didn’t regret a single bite. Sometimes the most unassuming places serve the best meals and this was one of them. Highly recommend if you’re in the area! 🦀🍤

We phoned ahead to book Fish Point and they gave us a wonderful table right at the front on the beach facing the water. It was gorgeous. Fabulous ambience and the evening was balmy and warm but not humid. For May this is a little unusual. We ordered by choosing from the fresh catches of the day out the front & had red snapper (coral trout), langoustines, calamari and prawns. Served with rice, salad & chips. We loved the prawns so much we ordered more. There were 5 of us and the bill including drinks was well under 30,000 rupees. I was impressed that the restaurant was very happy to accommodate a garlic allergy & just supplied garlic sauce which was absolutely delicious, for those that wanted it. Thoroughly recommend visiting Fish Point. Make sure you go to the right restaurant and not one of the copy cats who have similar names.

Our driver recommended us to try this option. You choose the raw fish you want to eat ant they cook it for you at the moment. It was very tasty and all of it with great views of the see and beach. Wonderful.

This was my favorite restaurant to eat seafood. I got the prawns with the sweet-and-sour sauce and it was to die for. I’m a big prawn fanatic and I critique very hard, so I was very impressed by this place. Also, seafood right on the beach is unbeatable. Beautiful views, delicious food. Highly recommend 11/10. I came here twice during my stay at Weligama. Had the Benedict rösti and the tuna poke bowl - the latter of which was one of the best poke bowls I’ve ever had. I wish I could recreate it at home. The setting is super relaxing and great place to unwind.

Hands down one of the best breakfasts I’ve had anywhere in the world. The flavours hit that perfect balance: sweet, fruity, a little tangy, super fresh and just the right amount of hearty. Honestly, a total winner from start to finish. The vibe is beautiful, the playlist is chill, the service flawless, and the food... Both the Avo Toast and the Rösti Benedict are absolute showstoppers! Now add a perfect cappuccino with oat milk on top and you’ll definitely want to come back for round two.

We ordered tuna bowls and enjoyed every piece! Coffee was also great. Besides we tried tea blends number 10 and 26. I liked the 26th more, it has the unique taste I expected. The place is clean, beautiful and welcoming.

Really nice ambience and great food. I missed shakshuka and tried it here. It was great! Lots of herbs n flavours. Sat at a table right in front of the cashier and unfortunately due to the position of the table, many particles from the roof fly onto the table and end up in yr food n drink. I changed the water once but it happened again which I didn't bother. But nonetheless great experience n vibes. Prices are reasonable for a restaurant of this quality. Visited during off season at 2pm which totally was not crowded.

Such delicious food here! Been there two days in a row. One day I had the pancakes and then i had the potato rosti which had such tasty flavours. Not exactly traditional Sri Lankan food but nice to mix things up when you’ve been having a lot of SL food! Definitely recommend.

Such a cute cafe, ideal for a brunch. The setting is pretty and coffee is good. Really loved the caramel latte 🫶 WiFi is not great tho, we tried to send few emails but we couldn’t. Loved the fact that they asked if we wanted a smoking or non-smoking table. Music was too loud making it difficult to have a conversation.

Great spot for a quick brunch on the way to the beach or around the area. They have plenty of choices and options, salty or sweet and both are well made and tasty. I highly recommend the tuna sandwich one of the best I’ve had.

Amazing food in a lovely setting. Our family enjoyed a fabulous evening meal in Catch 99. It is set in the lush tropical grounds of Naomi’s hotel with great views of the sandy beach and sea. Staff were very friendly and offered impeccable service. The food was well presented, very fresh and tasty. Great sushi and melt in the mouth tuna. We can’t wait to eat here again!

Amazing place, food and service! Employees are very welcoming and helpful. I have visited this place several times and would highlight the tuna steak. Also, I want to separately mention the coconut ice cream. I am a huge ice cream lover, and can tell for sure that this one was the best I have ever had! Nice restaurant It was our first time here, and we were initially expecting just a simple menu — but to our surprise, they had a great selection, including a really nice family pack. Our waiter, Kasun, was very talented and professional. Even though the restaurant was fully packed when we arrived, he treated us with great care and without any delays. My experience of February 2025, nice atmosphere, food is good, people are very kind and helpful. We advise the wok with sea food and rice. We shared it with 2 adults and 4 kids and the price was very good. We liked that restaurant up to the point we came back again the day after. Unfortunately for my daughter there was no chocolate ice cream and for my wife no long coffee .That point can be improved, always propose on menu what is available or inform upfront. Also after lunch we stayed on the sunbed for free at 5 meters from the sea. Ask Sandepa waiter, very nice guy.

360 Madiha is the best place we have stayed so far. And then the location is amazing with the sea breeze. 🏖🌊 We ordered a sea food rice. That was flavorful mouth-watering sea food rice. 🦞🦀🦐🦑 The main thing to talk about is about the view of the sea. Even we can bath in the sea. Hey we ordered 3 hummus and 1 babaganoush but they forgot to include any bread. They also forgot the spicy cheese mix that we ordered and paid for. We spent 5,600 lkr and were all still hungry. Double check your orders when you get it. Food was good though.

My recent visit to Bay-Route in Weligama offered a satisfying meal with good portion sizes. I opted for the hummus, falafel, and chicken kebab, and found them all enjoyable. The hummus was smooth and flavorful, the falafel crispy on the outside and fluffy within, and the chicken kebab was nicely seasoned and cooked. While the food was good, it's important to note that Bay-Route is a cash-only establishment.

Really good place for eat something vegetarian. Its was tasty the food in general. We asked a burguer, hummus and beef shawarma, we like it a lot. The only thing i didn't like it it was the aquarium they have, its super tiny for all of the fishes they have.

This was a super cute Lebanese restaurant. We ordered food to share for two people and we couldn't finish it all. Everything was delicious and the service was great. The venue started to fill up as we were leaving. Defo worth checking out. Didn't try any Shisha but this was popular with everyone around.

My young family and I loved Ceylon Sliders: the staff were beautiful hosts, the menu was varied, fresh and tasty and the coffee was great! We stayed in the private Ceylon Weli House just along the road and loved the space, interiors and privacy. Loved it so much we’ve been there, done that and literally bought the t shirt!

We specifically came to the café for a special occasion. Last season we enjoyed it, but this time we were first told we could go upstairs, and then the manager refused. Our time was wasted. If some areas are closed, it should be stated in advance – nothing about this is mentioned on Google Maps.

A cozy and modern hotel with two spacious rooms, each with its own balcony. The espresso machine makes breakfast especially enjoyable. In the evenings, you can enjoy great drinks on the rooftop terrace. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They even parked our scooter in the courtyard each evening. Thanks to the hotel's security, someone was on-site 24/7. We stayed for a total of six nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Many thanks to the fantastic team!

We had a fabulous time at Ceylon Sliders. The staff was super friendly and warm. They treated us very well and made sure that we felt welcomed. We were here for 3 nights initially but extended our stay further. The ocean is just in front and the beach is also few meters only. Suresh guided us very well during our stay and where all to visit.

Came here on the low season. The rooms are good, the only down side is that you can here the main road and the honks of the buses. Good and clean bathroom. We saw some ants, but nothing special. Also a good breakfast, you can choose between the five options of the brunch and a coffee and juice. In general really good.

We came here for Lunch and went for a burger and a Tuna Bowl. It was very delicious and the whole stuff was super kind. You can drink the best coffee in Sri Lanka in a nice atmosphere.

Sooooo i was there many times but with a local guy. Now i wanted to bring my friend there (white girls) and we need to pay a LOT MORE than usual. I don‘t understand that. We payed a lot and they were really angry with us. So we are not cöming again.

I craved for some roti. The banana was quite nice while the egg one was the worst I've ever had, too oily. The papaya juice tasted only like water with a bit of papaya flavor. Like the other comment said, skip the juice! Overall not very appealing, the staff doesn't seem much motivated.

very good food. right at the beach. prices are okay. food is „Bowl-focused“ (you can create your own bowl..), but they have also tacos, soups and so on. dilum was my waiter, verryyy kind guy:) always smiling and gentle. it was 80‘s/90‘s music playing. for my taste, the music could be a bit quiter, but you could probably adk for that:) bon apetit:)

The food here was amazing. I had the chicken katsu curry, and it was great, my partner had the yaki soba noodle prawn stir fry, and thought it was delicious. We also had the prawn gyozas which were fresh and flavourful. Overall the service was awesome, the staff went above and beyond to ensure we liked everything and were comfortable. Atmosphere was great with all the other restaurants and bars around, lots of music and things to do. I highly recommend coming here if you are after great quality Japanese food in Weligama.

Came here on a Thursday night and we were one of the only customers at the restaurant. Thought that the food looked interesting on the menu. However what we got was mid at best. I ordered the salmon pokebowl. Salmon didn’t feel fresh and the mashed avocado was strangely watery and mushy. Not recommended

Lovely location and good atmosphere. Very good service from Oshan - he was attentive and delivered service with a smile. Food was pretty good. Starters were good - the nachos, karaage chicken and cauliflower, crispy rice salmon and tuna, and then the poke bowls. I recommend both prawn poke bowls. The bulgogi beef was tough and a bit salty so I wouldn’t recommend but the other dishes were good. The slushies were also delicious and refreshing. I would come back and recommend to those wanting a change from the traditional Sri Lankan cuisine

Originally went here for drinks but saw the menu and told my family to come here straight away!! The food was delicious I had the DIY poke bowl. The nicest thing ever. The salmon was so fresh. Definitely recommend and will be coming again

Dulnetha was FABULOUS!!! The owner Dula was so kind and accommodating. This place even in the off season is always packed. The food was very good as well. The rice and curry is a staple in Sri Lanka and this place makes it perfect. My personal favorite was the chicken soup which might surprise some people but it was well executed!!!! I actually ate here multiple days in a row for a good price too. I suggest you stop by and give this place a try! They also have a nice rooftop with a pool table you can enjoy after a meal! The staff here was exceptional and they took great care of me and my friends. Love from America!

Without a doubt, this was the best meal I’ve had in Sri Lanka – no competition. A truly unforgettable experience that I’ll be dreaming about for a long time.

We ate here this evening while staying in Weligama. All the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. We sat upstairs and they even took the time to set up the pool table and shorten the cues for my little boys 🩷 The food was absolutely delicious. Especially the potato curry. The price was definitely good... There was so... much... food! The drinks were fantastic and I definitely recommend eating here for families visiting.

Everything was absolutely perfect, from the food, which was full of flavor and beautifully presented, to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The service was excellent and friendly, attentive, and professional throughout. The location is also great, making it a perfect spot for both casual meals and special occasions. I had an amazing experience at this rice & curry spot! The food tasted just like home .full of flavor, perfectly spiced, and cooked with love. The variety of curries was impressive, from creamy dhal to spicy chicken and delicious tempered vegetables. The rice was warm and fluffy, and everything was served fresh. I especially appreciated the sambols and pickles .they added the perfect kick.

By far the worst dining experience we had in Sri Lanka. There were only 3 of us dining and it was very quiet at teh restaurant. Despite multiple staff standing and sitting around, had to get up and order at 3 different bars for our drinks and meals, and bring a tray of drinks back to the table myself despite having a disability and asking for help. Didn't have a cold glass for beer. Cash only for expensive drinks and meals. The food was fine but disappointed there was not a single sri lankan option on the menu. All the food came out at different times so by the time the last persons meal arrived, the first person had finished eating. Cocktails were weak and tastless. It was a 'party' night but there was zero atmosphere. Overall a frustrating and lackluster experience.

Not worth the hype — there are far better places in Sri Lanka. The band took long, frequent breaks between songs, almost as if to push people to buy their overpriced drinks. The place looks great on social media, but that’s about it. The band seemed lazy, and the DJ didn’t even show up until 11 PM (if at all). Most people just stood around waiting for good music that never really started.

I went there twice on Wednesday night. The location is amazing — right next to the ocean — and the place has great potential. However, I didn’t really enjoy the party because the music turned too techno/house, which can get a bit boring after a while. I had a chicken burger, but I wasn’t satisfied. It really needed a sauce, or maybe the burger was overcooked — it was too dry and tasteless. The prices are quite high, but since it’s a tourist trap, it kind of makes sense. It’s super cool, instead, the tattoos corner and the gamblings games. Overall, I wouldn’t really recommend it, but it was still nice to go and see for myself the difference between what you see on social media and the reality.

The worst experience I ever had in Sri Slanka!!! I stayed in Sri Lanka for 8 weeks. Never had such a bad service as here. Tried to Order french Fries on a wednesday evening at 10 pm, got told 3 times to to to a different Counter. There they told me there are no more french Fries. Tried to get a Pizza. No Chance. The staff was super unfriendly and unprofessionell. I would recommend no one ever to come here ever again. In my 8 weeks in Sri Lanka I got to know so many nice people but the staff in the doctorshouse were non of Them !!!! Don’t waste your Money here !!!!

All the reviews say how amazing this place was… it had huge potential. It was jam packed but the music was too quiet & it was kinda boring… the after party next door was amazzzzing… we went there early. Much better vibe & great music

If you’re looking for something different to do on a Saturday this is the right place. There is a market with many locals selling jewellery and dresses. The live music starts around 7.30 ish which was cool and there is also a tattoo section. Overall a fun place to come and grab a few drinks.

For club night only: venue is cool and music was great but the bars were both super scammy, went up for 3 rounds and each time they tried to overcharge by about double until I pointed out the menu prices. Many people would have been too drunk to notice fix your game guys

I sincerely recommend this place! Pleasant and cozy atmosphere, tables are located on the beach, and after sunset, the staff kindly light candles on each table. As for the food, they really impressed me! I don't really like seafood myself, but I was with my family, and they wanted to eat fresh seafood, so our choice fell on this place. Despite this fact, I was very impressed by the quality and taste characteristics of the dishes! Everything was incredibly delicious, I would like to pay special attention to sea perch, I have never tried such delicious sea perch anywhere else! Despite all this, I was very surprised by the words of the owner of this restaurant that the Sri Lankan government wants to close this place. In my opinion, the government should support such institutions and help in development, not close them. Thanks to such establishments, tourists have a pleasant impression of Sri Lanka, which helps to develop tourist potential

We have been in every single one of those places at the Weligama beach with fresh seafood. This one is definitely the best one, with most importantly tastiest way food is prepared (herbs, sauces, soft and not overcooked), freshest selection of fish, fair prices for both seafood and drinks, and good service. We have not waited here for as long as we did in other places. Huge extra point goes to RICE, it’s the tastiest one here for sure. We have been coming here every two days and we like it a lot.

An absolute gem in Weligama! The food at DIL Seafood Restaurant is not only delicious but also very reasonably priced. The experience of choosing your own fresh fish and having it cooked to perfection is something truly special—an authentic Sri Lankan experience you won’t forget. Amazing seafood and lovely service! I had the pleasure of dining at DIL Sea Food, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked – especially the lobster and prawns (crevettes), which were simply divine! What made the evening truly special was the kind and helpful lady running the place. She went out of her way to make sure everything was exactly as I wanted. Her warm attitude and genuine hospitality made me feel right at home. If you’re in the area and love seafood, don’t miss this place – it’s a true gem! 🌟

A hidden gem. My Tuk Tuk driver took me here and I had the best possible prawns. The chef was so nice and really proud of her business. Please go there, it's a shame I only found it on my last day.

Visited this place several times and tried different rotti (banana chocolate, eggs and vegetables, coconut and honey). Banana and chocolate are the best ones and coconut honey did not like at all because it tastes like there is a sugar only. Eggs and vegetable has few ingredients inside.

Such a perfect place to have a meal solo or with people. There’s a really nice area to sit and watch the ocean behind the hut. The ladies who cook and run it are so kind and lovely. The vegetable Kottu is super yummy. If you really like spicy food you can tell them and they will actually make it spicy.

I tried many different dishes in this place and always was amazing! I highly recommend the “kottu” and both the sweet and savoury “roti”. But I had too little time to try other dishes unfortunately. I give four stars for the service only because there was a bit of a wait due to the amount of people there but it doesn't take anything away from the place which is run by a very kind local family and I think it’s ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY to pass by here if you are in Weligama♥️

All the recommendations made me come here for dinner and it was such a lovely experience. Street food at its best. Right on the beach, next to the Main Street, cooking in an old ship container. I was the only guest at the time and the food was served quickly. I tried my first Kottu and although I was full, I had to get a Roti with banana and chocolate for dessert. Both dishes were so delicious and big portions. Prices are cheap and fair. I can only recommend it for an authentic food experience in „Avo-Toast-Smoothie-Oat-Milk-Lovers-Paradise“ Weligama.

Really lovely spot ! Beautiful place to sit and watch the ocean from above ! The staff are all so lovely and welcoming and help with anything you need, I had a big sunburn on my leg and they kindly got me some aloe Vera plant ! The food is delicious but on the pricey side so not good if you’re on a budget ! Also the cocktails were amazing !!

We are a group of four and we had such a good time here. Right now during lockdown things are slow but I messaged on Facebook and gave a heads up that we would be eating dinner. when we got there we started with drinks. They have arrack and beer (try arrack attack, he does it special with homemade syrup) Then we got chicken and mashed potatoes (we requested) and fresh medium rare tuna with passionfruit (his specialty). We ate everything on our plates it was sooooo delicious. They played good music, the place has a great view and ambience. Awesome spot for dinner and drinks. By the time we were leaving there were quite a few people there as well. Very fun!

Great place, came here twice. We found it in the Lonely planets guide book and really like this one. Tuna steak is something, like really best. We also tried tuna tartar, grilled prawns, prawns with garlic - 🔥 The view is something. The cocktails are also amazing, they are simple but good. I highly recommend this place, you won't regret.

Cool place to hangout, grab a drink and some food. Especially special in the evenings with great views. Wasnt busy when i visited (probably due to light rains on the day) so was lucky to get a table and quick dinner. Tiki breeze drink was nice and so is the fish steak (although a bit raw for my liking). Friendly staff who speaks good english. Half price drinks during happy hour.

I highly recommend the juices as they are very thick and refreshing. Parking was a nightmare. Also, they get busy in the night and as a result I had to wait almost 30min to get my order. If you pay by credit card, they charge an additional 3%. Bathrooms are clean. If you order juice, make sure to say if you don't want ice cream in it.

I went with my friend for late lunch. We sat on the third floor with an open-air balcony. The fried rice (550 rupees) was yummy and the half portion was large enough to share between the two. I also had salad (300 rupees) but no dressing... it just came with a bit of mayonnaise. They run out of coke, but went to buy a bottle from a shop across the street. The restaurant had so many fresh juices that more than half of their menu was just that! I’d like to try dates-based smoothies next time. Very convenient location, just a minute walk from the bus terminal.

Very worst customer service. I went few weeks before. Very unclean. Not higenic. Very danger place for child health. Tables are very unclean and AC not work up chair. Very heat uncontrollable sweating. Waitters are irresponsible. Cashier patient is very irresponsible. We order 3 mix fried riced after 30 min a person come anda say no mutton and prawn. He ask me whta we do?😂 we tell ok prepare without pren and mutton. Finallybfood come after 1 hr 15min he mix tin fish (seman) for mix fried rice🤮. Very bad smell. Finally we are not eat foodband order mixed 1 mango juice and 2 mixfruit juice. Mango juice is no cool mix normal water. And mix fruit is not fresh. Freezing juice. Already prepared. Bill is nearly 4500. Very poor customer service. They dont know how to treat a people. Same time another group of people also fight waiters and cashier person same this problem. So do not this restaurant. It is a not restaurant. Cheapest roadside hotel.

The menu is huge. You can have like every combination of juices and shakes. Unfortunately the chocolate Milchshake was more like a drinking chocolate. Wouldn't order that again.

Nice juice and smoothie bar! Also it’s a regular local restaurant. Banana milkshake was great! Fried rice with chicken - just normal, too much salt. They could rent espresso machine for providing better range of drinks. Currently only black coffee.

I had an absolutely perfect stay at Rise. The location is great - it’s a couple of minutes walk to a good beach, with plenty of options for getting loungers and drinks/food. Rise is a beautiful place - so much thought and care has been put into the design of both the restaurant and the rooms. It’s stylish, but in a really relaxed way - I felt like I was staying somewhere special, but it’s also comfortable and welcoming at the same time. All of the staff were so kind and helpful and have a lovely way about them. The room itself was spacious, spotlessly clean and with an incredibly comfy bed - I slept so well for the 3 nights I was there. Breakfast was included in the price and was the best I’ve had in Sri Lanka. It was filling, with plenty of delicious (and healthy) options to choose from and with great coffee. I had dinner at the restaurant in Rise and it was so good! I had some antipasti to begin with - the cured fish was a highlight for me, but the cured meats and cheeses were also excellent. And they make such amazing pizzas! As good as in Italy and with lovely toppings. I had pizza Mimi - I highly recommend it! Thank you everyone at Rise for the most wonderful stay.

We ate there twice, the food was excellent, we really enjoyed it! They also have an excellent Gluten Free Pizza, that we really enjoyed. Although the kitchen is not Gluten Free at all, we didn't experience any symptoms, meaning they did their best to keep it sterile. GF Pizza base costs 1200 rps more, and you can choose from a variety of delicious options. Highly recommended!

We can only speak to the restaurant but the food was delicious! We had an order of the bruschetta and one pizza and it all tasted very fresh and authentic. The dough had a really nice flavor and it was cooked perfectly so it was nice and thin in the center. Also the service was fantastic! We are picky about Italian style pizza but this lived up to the expectations!

Location is great for access to beach, as on main beach road. Italian restaurant superb. Breakfast delicious. Lovely gift shop with high quality clothes and toiletries.

Went for dinner with my wife and the food was amazing! Pizza was very tasty with an authentic stone cooked base. 100% recommend. Don’t forget to book a table as they are very busy!

We went here several times and the vegan and gf Pizza was SO good. According to my boyfriend the „regular“ one was also really good. Same goes for the Gin Tonic. Everyone and especially the Manager were really Kind. Highly recommended.

Very overrated place Food is okeysh but nothing special. Very high price for what you get (2000rs for chicken curry). There are much cheaper places with better food I was surprised that rice and chicken curry just included overfried chicken leg. I’d expect to see pieces of chicken in curry cooked with spices but it is what it is…

We had the most amazing experience cooking with Shirani. Both her and her husband, Lala, were overwhelmingly generous with their time and ability to accomodate us even in the off-season. The food we learnt to cook and eventually got to enjoy was filled with such delicious flavour and nourishment. All ingredients, from the seafood to the vegetables, are sourced locally and were so fresh. It was such a great experience we came back for dinner the next night. Couldn’t recommend this place more!

Here, I tried truly delicious curry. One of the main things is that the dish is moderately spicy, and this spiciness doesn't overpower the main flavor. The portions are huge, we ordered curry for two and barely managed to finish it.

Shirani is an excellent chef. She makes the best traditional food I have eaten during my 2 month stay in Sri Lanka. The outdoor restaurant is cozy and peaceful. Very kind atmosphere. I recommend visiting

Pizza is delicious Thin crust and perfect cheese and filling combination.

The experience at Mama Roma in Kurumba Bay was a mixed one. The food, though expensive, was mostly average in taste, in my opinion. The drinks were watery, mostly. The cabonara pizza was good, combined with the chilli oil. What makes up for the things lacking in taste is the amazing location, as we had our lunch outside, and not inside the restaurant.

We went for lunch and the pizzas were really delicious even the service was good Hope to come again and try it out again.

Great beachside vibe with a relaxed atmosphere. The food was tasty, and we loved the variety of options available all in one place. The mini golf course was a fun bonus that kept the kids entertained—perfect for families!

Not Italian food… the pizza is thin and hard, cheese doesn’t seem to be mozzarella. The seafood pasta filling was a processed mess dry and more than fishy taste.

Update: somethings wrong with the location. I originally reviewed this place in Madiha. 🧐🤔 A restaurant near Madiha beach. Varieties of dishes and beverages available. The staff is polite and friendly. But be careful, if you go for a dinner, have some mosquito repellent spray, there were lot of mosquitoes. Our experience: We ordered coffee. After about 20 mins, a hot and strong coffee served with fresh milk and sugar. Prices seem to be fair.

Probably one of the best places to eat in the neighborhood. Specially for people who are looking for Sri Lankan food and not wester food!! So glad we found this place. Curry was delicious, juice too.And probably best roti we had so far. Such chill and good vibes. Highly recommended

On Sundays they cook special Sri Lankan Curry from 7pm. Because we came a little too early and ohr kids were hjnfry, we had two extremely fresh and tasty rotis with one of the best chili paste I ever had and a chicken curry wich was also very good. The staff is extremely friendly and the restaurant has a perfect chilled atmosphere.

Bob Marley themed roti restaurant with lovely staff! We had actually walked down the lane to go to another cafe which was closed and went here instead - very happy we did as it was a lovely relaxing lunch listening to Bob Marley and eating delicious, made to order roti. I was able to try Kottu Roti for the first time which was so yum. We also all shared a chocolate roti for dessert. It’s very cool to see the roti being made also - there is a window in to the kitchen where you can watch the chef prepare and cook the dishes. Super friendly and helpful team working there.

The food and fresh juices were very good. Service was nice but it takes a little longer to get your order or bill. The atmosphere was overall good.

A very nice restaurant. We spontaneously stopped by Whisk about an hour before closing time, wanting something to eat and a drink. The friendly waitress welcomed us warmly and arranged a table for us "12 people." The service was very friendly, the food was delicious, and the price/performance ratio was excellent. I highly recommend it. Regarding the food, I have to say that we didn't eat anything typical of Sri Lanka. I would go back anytime. Thank you so much for the spontaneity. Lovely dogs are also present, making it an animal-loving place.

A nice spacious restaurant with a mix of western and Asian cuisine including a fine choice of pizzas. Friendly staff, clean restrooms, and there's a pool table too.

Had the Burrata Pizza at Whisk and it was incredible! The burrata was so fresh and creamy, and those dried tomatoes took the flavors to another level — sweet, tangy, and packed with so much depth. Honestly one of the best pizzas I’ve had in Sri Lanka. Highly recommend if you’re a pizza lover!

I recently stayed at Plantation Surf Inn a week or so and it was truly one of the best experiences I’ve had while traveling. The manager Chathu is hands down one of the friendliest and most hospitable people I have ever met. His genuine care for guests and attention to detail is amazing! The rooms were big, clean and overall really nice . The location is fantastic especially for surfers, as it offers easy access to some of the best surf spots in Sri Lanka. The food—absolutely amazing! The restaurant serves some of the freshest and most delicious meals I’ve had in Sri Lanka. Overall I cannot recommend this place enough! If you’re looking for a fantastic stay in Sri Lanka with warm hospitality, great vibes, and good food, Plantation Surf Inn & Restaurant is the place to be.

Had a dream-like experience here! The family owned place delivers wonderful service including fixing scooters surfboards and other things with ease. The staff are very humble and friendly. Everyone greets you with a smile and and have shown the best hospitality I’ve experienced when traveling. The location is a walk from midigama surf spot and the house’s garden is very quiet and nice place to hang! It’s a perfect location for surfers who want easy access to multiple spots. The rooms are generally large, clean and with good facilities. The roof top have ocean view and is amazing for watching the sunset. I strongly recommend staying here! I wish to come back very soon!

I'm so happy I found this lovely home away from home! The team here truly treat you like family and ensure all your needs are met. Its very clear to see that the owner has a lot of pride and joy in what he does. Apart from that, this place offers ocean views and you can catch monkeys in the afternoon hanging out in the palm trees. :)

I don’t even know where to begin.. from the moment we arrived until the day we left, everything, and I mean EVERYTHING was superb. The staff is probably the nicest people you’ll encounter in all of Sri Lanka and will help you with anything that you need, always with a smile on their faces and a joke or two up their sleeves. We stayed for a totalt of 9 days and ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel several times and were never disappointed, the food and drinks were super good and very fairly priced. They hosted a supper for all the guests on Christmas Eve with freshly caught fish and prawns that were amazing and a really funny evening to get to know other guests staying at the hotel. The rooms are really big and with a lot of outdoor space to chill and hang your clothes out to dry and the view from the roof is amazing. You can see the plantation surf spot from up there so you know wether it’s worth paddling out or not and also on a clear night you can see the stars up there. The location is also a big plus, it’s really close to the main road but not so close so that you hear the traffic from your room. Overall we’re more than happy with our stay and would definitely(!!!!) recommend this to anyone going to the southern parts of Sri Lanka. By the time we left we felt more like a family than guests. Huge thanks to everyone working for making our stay unforgettable!

Had a really nice stay here for 4 days! The staff was nice and super helpful whenever I needed something. You can rent a scooter or a surf board for fair prices and always eat in the small restaurant. When in Midigama, I would stay here again!

Super nice and relaxing place a few steps away from the beach. The food was stunning - especially the fish curry, which was absolutely perfect - the tuna steak was a bit overdone sadly, but served with a nice wash (instead of spinach). Slightly pricy, but still very acceptable for the quality of the food. Would definitely come back and hang out there again!

Surrounded by lush greenery, the beach feels like your own private paradise. Seriously, the peace and quiet here are unreal. And the food? Oh man, it's top-notch. From fresh seafood to local specialties, every bite is a flavor explosion. Trust me, that's the best food I had in Srilanka! The drinks are perfectly done, and so good. Staff make you feel like home. A highlight of my trip!

My favourite place in Weligama next to Jungle Beach. The food is outstanding, the atmosphere is amazing and the staff is EPIC. Perfect hidden fish restaurant owned by the sweetest Sri Lankan family! I myself am not the biggest fish person and was not so hungry when we were there, but my partner loved it and I had the best mixed juice of my whole trip here!

The loveliest of people you will meet. A gorgeous spot they have worked so hard to create to provide for their family in difficult times. Ignore anyone from Europe who complains about waiting for their food. In lots of Europe food is preprepared trash, here it is freshly made from scratch, sourced locally and is organic. Tip well as you are making a big difference by doing so. You will not find more genuine hard working people.

Restaurant: Yummy but high prices. Do NOT go here if you eat A LOT! We have spend 7000 rupees here (as a couple) after gym and are not full... BUT the food is amazing! On point! If you want fancy food or have a white girl craving this is one of THE places to go to! We had a great experience in the restaurant and atmosphere is nice. We would not go here often though due to the price. If we feel some avocado and poached egg cravings we will definitely come again. Give it a try if you are not a glutton like we are lol

Went here as my wife was craving a pizza. She had the chicken 'hello pollo' and I had the supreme and both were nice. I like a firm base and asked for this but my pizza was still soggy on one side but still ok. No alcoholic beer sold here 😔 so took a ginger beer which was good. The service was also prompt and efficient.

Everything was excellent, the pizza has a nice semi thin crust and they had dried oregano and chili flakes to top it off. A really good pizza! We had the vegetarian and added pepperoni, it was perfect.

Amazing brunch spot in Weligama! We tried almost everything on the breakfast menu including the Labneh poached eggs, the breakfast bowl, the breakfast muffin, the smoothie bowl, the avocado toast, shakshuka, and loved everything. The service is excellent as well as the entire space inside and on the rooftop. We also tried the bang bang chicken and it was so good! A must-visit when in Weligama! Also our favorite smoothie was the tropical one, SO good!

Great Spot with a Beautiful Ambience We visited this brunch spot, known for its beautiful decor, surfer vibe, and delicious breakfast. We ordered two avocado toasts and one with scrambled eggs and chickpeas. The second portion was massive— even as someone who eats a lot, I struggled to finish it! The prices are a bit on the higher side, but the portions are huge. Personally, I’d rather pay half the price and get half the portion, which would be more than enough. It’s a super Instagrammable spot, perfect for snapping photos while enjoying your meal!

The food at Layback Rooftop is really, really good. Most of the dishes are Western. Everything feels fresh, colourful, and beautifully presented. It’s also very vegan-friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Overall, it’s the kind of place where you just feel good and want to stay a little longer.

A very hipster-style establishment offering food options for vegetarians, vegans, and those who are gluten intolerant. We ordered the poached eggs with labneh and the chicken burger. The eggs were great - reminiscent of a creative take on Turkish eggs - but the chicken burger ended up being quite dry, and the accompanying seven potato wedges didn’t help elevate the dish

Best Shakshuka on the island, not spicy (even it has to be by a receipt), not sinked totally in oil, portion isn't small. You have to try it here if you like it at all. Third floor is ventilated very well (maybe it is a windy day) and sun cannot reach you. I'm sure I'll visit the place a few times more.

I recently dined here and had a thoroughly disappointing experience. Upon arrival, I noticed several flies inside the establishment, which was concerning. The server, unfortunately, did not speak English, making communication difficult. When my meal arrived, I found ants in my food, which was both unappetizing and unsanitary. Additionally, the pancake I ordered was unpalatable and not up to standard. Overall, the combination of cleanliness issues, language barriers, and subpar food quality made for an unpleasant dining experience.

We had the pleasure of having breakfast or brunch at this cafe almost every day. The best part was that it was budget-friendly while still offering a wonderful taste of the local cuisine. The prices were reasonable, and the quality of the food was good. Especially enjoyed delicious fresh juices and various rotties.

Unfortunately, as an north American, cheese withdrawals can be debilitating. Pizza is one staple carrier for cheese in our diet. We ordered the four cheese and the infinity chili pizzas. We were greatly relieved, as the lack of cheese in our diets here in Sri Lanka was causing night sweats. The pizza is very good. The service is great. It’s probably the best pizza we’ve had here, and it’s wood fired. A pizza could eaten by one big eater or shared by two smaller eaters. But bring your own alcohol.

We eat the Schnitzel submarine and french fries aside. We shared between 2 and we felt it was sufficient. As many of the reviews comment, the bread can be a little bit dry, I think because of the type of bread they used or how they warm it. It doesn't seem to be old bread. We added mayonnaise and ketchup and it balanced that. Those two things were 3,200 rupees for 2 people, sharing the plate. It depends where you tend to eat it can seem overpriced, of course it is way more expensive than eating local. The restaurant was all alone I suppose because we are now on low season. I have experienced this thing in many other restaurants these days.

Nice little restaurant located a little further from the main downtown area but is within walking distance to the beach resorts nearby. The best dish they have is the oat and fruit smoothie with honey, raisins, and dried fruit. They also have a fried noodle dish with shrimp but it was just prepackaged ramen noodles that were boiled and lightly stir fried. Since the pricing is so inexpensive, a lot of the lack of complex sophisticated flavors can be overlooked. Service is quick but there’s no a/c in the main restaurant area so expect to be uncomfortably warm.

Number one restaurant in Midigama! I'll start by saying that I lowered my score because the service here is simply bad.. But the food is so delicious and varied with excessively low prices! There is such a large selection of food here. We came to the restaurant every day for two weeks!! You must eat the crispy chicken here, which comes in a variety of shapes - on a plate, in a pita, in a bun, in a hamburger. There are also lots of vegetarian dishes here and they are insanely delicious!!, so if you are traveling with friends, some of whom are vegetarian and some are not - come and enjoy the selection here. Just taste everything! The portions here are large and satisfying and again, the prices are low!! Highly recommended!

We went twice for dinner and they were the best dinners we had in Midigama area! Wish we found the place earlier. Portions are (too) huge, delicious, view to the sunset is stunning and service was good. Order sesame tuna and thank me later! (On the photos you can see burrito bowl, sesame tuna full portion and sesame tuna as a "dessert" on our second evening. Did not take picture, but spicy garlic prawns were nice too, but I would skip chicken quesadilla next time.)

The food was delicious, I am surprised this place does not have a higher score on the reviews. I am sad I discovered it on our last day, would have loved to visit the place again. The portions are big and very flavorful. I had the Buddha bowl and my friend had the Kottu, both were delicious.

The Buddha bowl is hands down the best bowl I had in my life. Not exaggerating. It’s quite hard to find a nutritious meal full of fresh veggies in Sri Lanka, this bowl saved me. That said I liked every dish I had there. Service might be a bit slow so it’s good to come when you’re not in a rush, but the food is worth it.

Me & my boyfriend ate at Cool Place our first night in Hikkaduwa. The food was really good and we hade a lovely evening. The lady was super kind and opened the restaurant just for us! We ordered 2 Egg Kottu & 2 sodas for 3000 Rs, so the restaurant has a reasonable price and the atmosphere is very cozy. Cool Spot is a perfect choice if you would like to try local food while in Hikkaduwa!

A fantastic spot! We’ve been coming here every day for matcha and croissants — their pastry dough is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the Cloud Matcha, which they make with soy cream and fresh coconut milk. It’s vegan and incredibly good. We’re coming back again tomorrow because they’re saving us a cinnamon roll — they sell out quickly, and after four days of trying we still haven’t managed to get one! The staff has been truly lovely, always kind and helpful. On top of that, the place is super cozy and they even have a co-working area. Highly recommended!

Worth the hype? Hell yeah! If you are looking for really delicious, heartwarming food., this is your place! Such amazing choices and not very pricey, given the portion size and the service and the seating! We had the mushroom hoppers, chicken panini and the pesto pasta… it was soooo yumm and the vibe of the place is 10/10. The staff is excellent.. also if you are someone who enjoys spicy food, don’t forget to ask them for their hot sauce - it was so good, we are buying 5 bottles of it and maybe 5 more for our loved ones! Overall a great choice if you are in Weligama and around!

Went for breakfast and the setting was nice. Ordered 2 avo smash and poached eggs and pancakes. Took a while to arrive but it was quite busy. The one avo smash had cold poached eggs and the other had the end of the loaf of the sourdough bread. Usually that would be fine but the portion was quite small, only having one slice of sourdough. In addition to this the bread was also slightly stale: not great. But the flavours of everything were pleasant and married up nicely. The vegan pancakes were also well received.

Plan B Weligama is a lovely spot just off the beachfront which opens up into an atmospheric courtyard. I came for dinner, both the service and food were excellent. I’m sure to come back for smoothie bowls and coffee too! They also have a great co-working space too.

After searching everywhere for a cozy and welcoming place to dine, I finally decided to visit Plan B—and I’m so glad I did. First of all, VP’s service was incredibly warm and kind. He truly understands the vibe of travelers and is always attentive. The café sits in a lovely little garden, and the food I ordered might just be some of the best I’ve tasted in Sri Lanka. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

We have been 3 days in Weligama and 3 days in a row at Plan B. We have tried multiple things from the menu and everything is fresh and with a good quality. We have tried Hoppers, Blueberry Cheesecake, Jackfruit rolls and if you like quality coffee then that’s the place for that. The atmosphere is cozy and we liked the area where you can sit on the pillows. Servers are very professionals and friendly!

We waiting long for our breakfast, but it was sooo worth it! WOW you need to try the oats and chia pudding, we both ordered one each and shared it and it was the best ever! Big portions and really tasty! The oats had all above chocolate pieces what was a big plus. Prices are good. For a big jar of coffee with milk and the food we payed 3400. Totally worth it! :)

WORTH TO TRY! We ate here once. I would say the devilled food is not the greatest. Unfortunately i must agree with some comment from the past the devilled shrimp is not really spicy and the sauce feels a bit like ketchup. However the Fish burger was marvelous and i did like the mixed vegetable salad too. The service was super kind and really fast. As a summary, good place probably a bit overhyped.

Pizza, in general, was nice. The first time we went there, good service....BUT.... Watch out they are charging us, without informing us lkr 258,-- for paying with a local bank debit card. which is apart from strictly forbitten by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka also not correct to your customers. So was a one-time visit for expats living here. I know it's not the amount of money, but it's still not correct.

Been eating from here for years and finally came to dine in. Just love this place! Love the cute ambiance, love the simple menu and most of all love the resident cats and dogs! Any place with a resident pet (or pets) has my highest seal of approval. I had their signature Turftina and gosh it was amazing! Who would have thought pumpkin on a pizza would work so well! The truffle oil did it some serious justice! Love their cool bathroom too, very apt for the area! Great coffee. Great service.

I absolutely love this place! You’ll meet amazing, kind, and open-minded people, whether it's the staff or the guests staying here. Both the Lazy Left and Lazy Right are just a short walk away and will serve you well! The food is awesome, and I definitely enjoyed my morning coffees here after a surf session. There's also the option to rent scooters right on-site. All in all, I highly recommend this hostel—I even extended my stay, just like almost everyone else who comes here!

Great hostel that's very easy to get stuck at. Hospitality is first class with clean rooms and amenities. Close to surf breaks and quieter than the neighbouring ahangama and welligama! A must stay if passing through during any season for groups and solo travellers.

Amazing little restaurant and bar right on a little protected beach perfect for a swim and a meal. They have wooden lounges right on the beach and you can ask for a soft mat to put on the lounge. I’ve been back here twice and going again for an afternoon swim and sunset. Run by a beautiful local couple who are super kind and friendly. I had the chicken noodles which was a huge serve and perfect with a couple of lion beers. They also have some shaded huts for the sun or if it rains a little.

Stopped here for some swimming and relaxation by the beach.I literally parked on the side of the street a few meters from the beach cabana. The beach cabana was nice but didn’t have any mats/padding so you just sit/lay on hard wood.great view of the ocean and little islands in the distance. You can lounge at the cabana for free as long as you buy food/drinks. I bought a coconut for 250lkr (reasonable for right on the beach).they had a good selection on their menu but a bit pricey. Recommended

We have been two times already in less than a week. It is an ideal spot to watch the sunset taking a coconut water. You can also go into the water in the beach. Depending on the day the water is calm. We tried the coconut roti, is very good and a very good price. They serve it usually with something else, as dhal. The people working there is so friendly and attentive. They have always attend us with a smile and warm.

We went here for a change of cuisine and started with the chicken satay. It came with the peanut dip already on the chicken which I thought was strange every time I had it in the past it always came in a dipping bowl. We then had Thai red curry which my wife said was lovely and I had the pad Thai. The noodles in the pad Thai weren't the best but the dish tasted ok. Also just to mention the beer is rather expensive at 750 for a small bottle.

A lovely little place with very authentic, tasty food that is reasonably priced, and a great view that comes free. We ended up eating there at least 3-4 times during the week that we were there. My favourites were the Thai prawns butter curry, the tacos and the mango sticky rice. Resident doggie Toby is an added bonus. They have a bar on the floor above that serves some nice cocktails. The owner was very hands on and super helpful and gave us lots of useful info for our stay in SL.

Probably one of the best places in Welligama. The food is delicious, the olace has a unique atmosphere, with amazing views over the bay and the staff, and specially the owner will make you feel at home. Totally reccomend it if you like geat thai food in a nice place!

Vegetarian Sri lankan curry and Thai curry was to die for. Beautiful place with really lovely staff. How ever, there is added service and tax price to the bill at the end.

Day 1 we went to Yala safari and they packed breakfast box to go which was very good - sandwiches fruits and bakery item with juice . That day when we came back we ate lunch here . 22$ for buffet but we opted for a la carte since my husband and daughter wanted to try local fish and I wanted local veg food selection. They ordered Handella fish fried and it came with white sauce . I ordered raw jackfruit cutlets and mushroom soup- recommended . Indians have a full menu here including man-chow and roti , dal rice among others . Next morning we had their breakfast spread too - very good food selection and lots of local selection and indian food selection. We ate their hopper - which for me is dosa with egg fried both sides and comes with side of dal - interesting dish . We also had string hopper which seemed like idiyappam . Their king coconut was a must try - very sweet tender coconut water . Also recommend their dosa and fruits selection .

Got to be a 5 stars in all aspects although 6,000nett lkr is a little expensive. They have many different spreads and regional foods to choice from, even ice-cream is served. I have a good breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed it. Clean nice place with very helpful staff. Must go!

Delicious dishes prepared fresh with local in-season ingredients. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a healthy breakfast/brunch/lunch. The smoothie made with home-made peanut butter, cocoa and banana was delicious and we were very lucky to get some freshly baked banana bread on the house when we ordered coffees. Thank you!!

Lovely Food at Deli Ceylon in Weligama. If you are looking for some good healthy and tasty food after a nice surf session this is the place. All dishes are made with local products. I can definitely recommend the rainbow potato cakes made out of beetroot, potato, carrot etc. And for the sweet lovers; don’t miss out on the Willy Wonka smoothie bowl!

This Place is really well put together. The food is fresh and they make some really tasty bread 😍 with some nice music and such a good service they create a very relaxed atmosphere. I can recommend this cafe if you’re looking for a calm place with good food!

All in all a pretty nice restaurant due to its location by the water with the crashing waves. I ordered whole fish, fries & colesaw on several occasions & it always satisfied. Prices are equal to all the other restaurants in the area but considering the other positive factors Reef Edge is a nose in front. I would return.

They serve super tasty seafood dishes among them i prefer devilled octopus and grilled fish which comes with a salad and french fries 👍 they don't have pasta dishes though. Altogether a very good place to hangout ❤

Two prawn dishes were really good and there was more than plenty to eat. It took close to an hour to get the food and prices were bit high as the location is bit far from tourist places. Food was so good that it was worth waiting for it. Would go there again.

Nice place in the edge of the beach, with a pleasing view of the sea. Food is good and delicious. Waiter is new it seems, no much idea in the menu. Overall good place to have a lunch or dinner.

I stayed at Reef Edge guest house for 2 months extended stay as it was a comfortable, clean and very private place to stay and a great location close to the beach, restaurants and Matara business centre. The Reef Edge seafood restaurant is a short walk from the guest house and they offer a very delicious and affordable breakfast along with lunch and dinner and seriously the best juices and coffee at the best price in Polhena/Madiha and the best service. It's not a 5 star establishment, but I'm giving them 5 stars for quality of service, great food, privacy , comfort and affordability! Highly recommend if you are looking for longer term digital nomad style accomodation👍

We had been in the area a while, and wanted to try somewhere different to eat.. so walked all the way up and all the way down the bay, and settled on Cutty Sark. The restaurant is right on the beach, but set back a bit, it was very cool here.. a nice breeze from the ocean. The staff were welcoming and helpful, as they answered all our questions about the food on the menu. We ordered: Salad Nicoise, Chicken in a Basket, Hummus Platter, and a homemade Cheesecake. All the food was agreeable. Draft beers and Milkshake were great too. After we ate, we just enjoyed the view for a few minutes. The restaurant is attached to a hotel called Weligama Bay Resort.

The best tuna steak we've had in Sri Lanka, hands down. Done perfect medium, a must have. The chicken pineapple salad was good, but had too much souce. Just ask the souce on the side, and it will be perfect.

Had dinner at Cutty Sark 🍽️ just after I just arrived from Colombo. The tuna steak was sublime, simply as per my order. The head waiter was experienced, he was relaxed in his attentivness yet diligent. I ended up going back for my birthday 🎉 dinner

An idyllic location to watch the sun set and the surfers catching the last waves of the day. My SL prawn curry was one of the most delicious meals I’ve had in SL but unfortunately my partner’s calamari was not good. It came out in little overcooked, chewy, fried balls, with a handful of cold fries and a pinch of miserable looking salad - shocking considering the price (4800). His bad meal ruined our dining experience. I’d recommend ordering the curries and skipping the western options if dining here.

As a start I want to say that the food was really good. If you want to eat and don't care about waiting and everything else, then it's a food place. BUT: we ordered a starter and two main courses (which was not that easy, because the main courses on the English menu are written in russian). The starter came over an hour after ordering with the main course by GF ordered. This would have been ok (there's always waiting in Sri Lanka) if my main course would not have taken more than an additional 45 minutes to arrive. Additional complaint: the small beer can costs as much as a big one at the beach. To end on a positive note: they did not complain when I refused to pay the service charge.

We visited Big Fish Restaurant for dinner on our first night and ended up coming back several times because the food was that good. The Barramundi and Mahi-Mahi were memorable, though they could have used a touch more of the bold flavors typically associated with Sri Lanka. The lobster bisque soup was excellent, and the service throughout was top-notch. The manager was warm and welcoming, even offering a complimentary dessert for my son, which was a lovely touch. Prices are on the higher side, and you can find good seafood for less along the coast, but the overall experience still made it worth the visit.

Impeccable service, delectable cuisine with generous portions, and a tranquil view make this dining experience exceptional. Cold towel service, amuse-bouche, and all the hallmarks of fine dining are present. The prices are remarkably reasonable. The lobster and mashed potatoes left me fully satisfied, and the bartender crafts wonderful cocktails.

Ambience was very good but food was ok . I was expecting to have ramen but that was not an option . We mainly had their veg food sushi- noodles (Japanese) and raw mango salad was amazing - must try . They had a very good drink selection - smoked drink was something interesting . Not a lot of baby food selection - they gave us white rice and mashed potatoes . When you order they give freshly baked break ( toasted ) with melted cheese and side of olive oil complementary - which was very much appreciated and tasty

I just had a fantastic dinner at Big Fish restaurant where Dilshan the restaurant manager and his team did a fantastic job, food was cooked to perfection, the service him and his staff provided was sensational, great attention to detail and very pleasant and helpful when required. Great service and food! I would highly recommend anybody to come and dine here.

Very mediocre food. The appetisers were particularly disappointing - ordered the like chilli octopus and the whitebait. Both were 4/10s. The grilled jackfish was much better but still nothing special - but still wouldn’t come back and not worth the price.

Delicious food, and cocktails, well balanced flavours, great presentation, super helpful and friendly staff, great for gluten free - using my Sinhala coeliac card the chef came out to go through every ingredient with me. Beautiful ambiance and great music too, hands down one of the best places we’ve eaten in Sri Lanka.

The food at Locale is exceptional! The menus is so special, the food is tasty and the plates are thoughtfully prepared. We also stayed at the hotel for a week and can only recommend it.

Visited last night (Tuesday), we were the only table there (reason for lack of atmosphere), lovely looking restaurant and its decor. Food choice we went for chicken katsu which was lovely. Cauliflower satay with chicken was was good, and the pork chop which was recommended to my son by the waiter (we wanted something a bit more western) but sadly the pork dish was poor, its was a butchered piece of meat, poor sides and tiny (I’d avoid the pork dish and go for the chicken katsu).

The food was amazing. Excellent chef and staff, great service and chill environment. We will definitely be coming back and it’s right across from beach for surfing. Highly recommend this place!

Great spot near Taprobane Island (excellent coconuts across the road). Beautifully decorated with excellent staff. The cocktails are created by a 3 times cocktail champion. Wonderful bar. Come for happy hour - you might never leave!

The entire team does the best to go beyond your expectations. Live music almost every day of the week with incredible effort to support the local emergent artists from all over Srilanka. The menu is PanAsian and takes you on a journey of flavors and experiences. Nice amenities the basic to make you feel that you are definitely in the right place and it’s my new home in Weligama.

Excellent option for Indian food if you are around Mirissa or Weligama. We drove down (20 mins) . Lovely home and excellent Indian food. The prices are also very reasonable and you feel very satisfied!. Kudos !

Bought a portion of sea food nasi goreng, COULDN'T FIND any sort of sea food except for 3 tiny pieces of black tuna(bloodline) which was horrible :/ Complete waste of money, would never ever recommend this place.
