A very local place for trying authentic local food. Wanted to try briyani but it wasn't available so had the chicken kottu n mamgo lass.. It's very rich n dense in flavour. Many locals patronise the place. There is only cash payment and they don't accept cards.

Kandyan Muslim Hotel is a great place in Kandy for tasty local meals at reasonable prices. Their kottu, paratha, and biryani burst with flavor and are always freshly made. They hardly have any desserts, which was a bit disappointing. Also, the overall food quality could be improved just a bit to match the hype. The place itself could use a little upgrade too. The ambiance isn’t the best and it would really help if the dining area was cleaner and more inviting. Overall, it’s a decent place to grab a meal, especially for rice and curry lovers, but with a bit of improvement in food quality, cleanliness, and dessert options, it could be much better!

I visited this place recently. The service was good and the food overall was decent. I had the fried rice — it was average, nothing special. However, there were two main issues that stood out. First, the environment was extremely noisy, almost like a marketplace, which made it hard to enjoy the meal peacefully. Second, the cleanliness needs serious improvement — the tables and floor didn’t look well maintained. Also, they don’t accept card payments, which was quite inconvenient. With a few improvements, especially in cleanliness and ambiance, this place could be much better.

Dosa are really delicious here! ❤️ You have a whole range of dosa here. We had an Onion dosa (500LKR), Ghee dosa (600LKR) and a Paper dosa (500LKR) which were really tasty.🤤 You have to go to the cashier, pay and order yourself at the beginning. So a tip would be, ask someone to go get a table and the other can straightaway go to the cashier and make the order. The dosa shop offers good taste and quality, definitely better compared to many other places in the area. It's also easy to access in Kandy, which is convenient. However, for South Indians, the prices may feel a bit high compared to what we usually pay in India. The lunch meals are tasty but on the spicier side. Overall, a nice place with good food, but pricing could be more reasonable.

Highly Recommended!!🎖️️🍽️ We went to this place few months ago to get the breakfast. The waitors were busy and it took some time to order the food. We ordered a poori set and a papaya 🍹. It took about 10 mins to receive the order. The poori set was very 😋. They maintain a clean environment. We also had tried food from this place several years ago. My favourite was ghee doasi at those times. If you are looking for vegetarian options and a tamil foods, never miss this place.

Great vegetarian local fast food. And I say fast cause they really quick bringing your dishes. You sit, order, pay and food comes, easy. Service is also really gentle and you don't feel you have to rush. The food is spicy! Specially the sauces so take that into account. Price is great (look pics) and portions are good. Very nice south indian food. Tasty and decent quantity. Centrally located. We had dine-in as well as take away of most dishes here - dhal wada was very tasty. Dosas were good. Roti are a bit thick. Overall very good food.

We went to Balaji Dosai in Kandy and had a dosa so crispy it could double as a frisbee 🥞, and the poori? Got an oily mess instead of food. Quality has been dropping over the past few months. Ordered a fried rice but the brinjal curry was drenched in oil. Saw the server visibly smell my food before serving. May be was checking whether the food had gone bad Would rather recommend other vegetarian places around Balaji as i feel they are just surviving due to the name and excellent quality they had in the past.

I recently visited The Whizz for lunch and tried their Vegetable Cheese Macaroni. The portion size was generous, which I appreciated. However, the dish was slightly too salty, and the white sauce tasted more floury than cheesy, perhaps a better cheese-to-flour balance would improve the flavor. The ambiance of the place is fairly average. One safety concern worth noting: there’s a low, exposed edge on the fifth floor that feels a bit risky. I’d recommend being cautious with your belongings, especially mobile phones near the table edges to avoid accidental drops.

Wouldn’t recommend this place at all. The only thing that was good were the drinks. We went on a friday night and over half the menu items weren’t available. Out of the available items we ordered the cheese bacon kottu which was actually chicken bacon (not disclosed earlier! ) and was overpowered with cabbage. We also order the loaded fries ( which claimed to have mozzarella cheese) Which was just basically drowned in ketchup and mayonnaise. The only burger available was the crispy chicken burger which had a dry bun, dry chicken and again was drowned in the same mayonnaise and sauce. Their drinks were their only saving grace

After that, we tried the Chicken Cheese Kottu, which was also really good in taste and portion. All the food we had was worth the money. However, the service was a bit slow, and we had to wait for some time even though it wasn’t crowded. At that time, submarines, burgers, hotdogs, and sandwiches were not available. The ambience is nice, and the dining area is clean I’d rate it 7/10. The only issue is that there’s road construction work going on under the restaurant, so it’s noisy and a bit dusty. Otherwise, it’s a peaceful place with a beautiful long view of the mountains, hill roads, and buildings. There’s also a rooftop area where you can sit and enjoy the view. Earlier, there was a swing (onchilla), but now it’s not there. Overall, it’s a good place with tasty and money-worthy food, but the construction work is the only thing that disturbs the calm vibe.

went for sunset, stayed for happy hour. good view but unfortunately did not see the sunset as it was cloudy. but the view at night- amazing! servers were very kind! good atmosphere at night when the live music starts. switched to party music a bit later but couldn’t complain when you’re a few drinks in food was really good too. had the nachos and some beef. a good mix of tourists and locals coming in.

I visited Slightly Chilled Lodge in Kandy today with my family for dinner. We tried several dishes including French fries, cashew nuts, chicken fried rice, seafood fried rice, beef fried rice, a sweet and sour beef dish, a sweet and sour chicken dish, tomato and cucumber salad, chicken noodles, a fruit platter, and a few mocktails. The food didn’t taste as I expected. It was okay, but not particularly good, and definitely not memorable for a family dinner. Pork was listed on the menu, but when we requested it, we were told it wasn’t available, which was disappointing. The ambience was fine if you’re there to relax with a beer and enjoy the atmosphere. There was also live music, with a musician playing guitar and singing English songs, which added a nice touch. The lighting was quite low, so the photos I took turned out dark — not really a complaint, more just the mood of the place. On the positive side, they do accept reservations, and when we arrived, our table was already reserved and ready for us. The cost worked out to around 2,700 LKR per person, and I don’t feel it was worth that price for the quality of food we received.

It is really a nice place, atmosphere and food are amazing! Here you can have an amazing view to the big Budha. I had seafood noodles that was really fresh and tasty and my boyfriend had a burger that also was delicious.🥘🍔 But my favourite thing was the Banana milkshake and the mango Juice, please try it!🥤🍺 Also our bill was a bit expensive because we had many drinks 🤭 but here the prices are honesty and the portions are good. There is a Pool table that is really fun to spend some hours playing!( and is free to play)🥳 Even the owner of the place came to join us! We really appreciate all the kindness from the staff and owner...made us feel very welcoming here in Kandy

We had an epic time at Slightly Chilled in Kandy! Sunset views are stunning, the beers were ice-cold, and the vibe was perfect for two spice-crazed adventurers. We started with the Sichuan chicken and spring rolls. The staff warned us the chicken was fiery… and of course we said, “Bring it on!” One bite later, our mouths were on fire, but we were impressed. Then the owner overheard our spice obsession and dropped the Taiwanese spicy sauce bomb—our taste buds screamed, sweat poured, tears flowed, but the beers kept us alive. We ended up chatting with the owner about our love for fiery food and how on earth Sri Lanka became the choice and end up being this amazing, trading laughs and borderline dangerous spice challenges. If you want insane views, friendly staff, and food that will literally set your mouth on fire while making you laugh, this is your spot.

What an unbelievable gem tucked in a hilly corner of Kandy! After a trip through Sri Lanka that was outstanding except for the music on offer (Trax in Ahangama being a notable exception), I chanced upon SCL in Kandy. The owner is a passionate DJ who uses a rare ARS rotary mixer and plays some groovy downtempo and house music. The views from this place are great too. The staff were alert throughout and very keen to make sure everything was fine. Big ups!

If you're going to Kandy, I don't think I could recommend anywhere higher than Slightly Chilled. More than Slightly Chilled beer (excuse the pun) Great Food and host Michael made it special for me with his personalised service. I was lucky to be there on a Saturday with very talented Ranga supplying the tunes. A must go!

Found the spot from Trip Advisor and went there cuz of the ratings. It was hard to find the place as the name board was unreadable and washed off. Inside was clean. The service was good. Had the Nutella Rolled Ice-cream and it was nice. If you're going there, make sure you have cash because card payment is not available.

It was a fun outing after a hot afternoon. Loved the fried coconut, and the gentleman who served us was great. Dropping it to 4 stars because at least half the menu items were not available.

Visited this place again after 2 years. Quality has gone down a bit now, most of the items in the list that we wanted were sold out, and then we ordered a milkshake, choco flash and a green tea ice cream. Milk shake was not that good, the choco flash was more like banana flash. It didn't mention it has banana in it. And then the green tea ice cream tastes nothing like green tea. More like vanilla ice cream.. The flavours on the menu's doesn't add up with the taste of them. And cherry on top of the cake, they don't take card payments. Ice cream in general was good just didn't match up to the flavours it was listed.

I waited almost 6 months to get a chance to try the fried ice cream at this place! It was a worthy wait and an awesome experience to remember the last day of 2018! We tried the Banana Split and the Passion Fruit Ice cream. Both were tasting sooo good! Even the prices were reasonable. There is parking for one vehicle but I managed to find a public parking close by. Most of their ingredients are halaal but for one or two ice creams they add some non halaal products which they are Keen in educating us.

High into the Kandy hills, you can find probably the best restaurant of the area. It takes some time and effort to get there but it's certainly worth it! Just still need to discover real chocolate... happy to help :)

Reading after the reviews myself & husband choose this place today for lunch.we went there by 2pm. With high expectations We ordered our food & drinks.They serve 2 bread sticks & 3 starter bus with butter on the house...much appreciated 👍. I ordered Thai prawn curry with rice n husband ordered Kung Pao chicken with noodles &for the starter batter fried prawns. What I got was Thai chicken curry. instead of prawns I ate chicken. Before I noticed & realized I poured the curry on the rice.... My bad...😩.. while eating we informed this to a staff who passes by,he then bring the other staff who was took order from us.that person quickly went inside, might be check his order note,but no one apologized regarding the That curry. We had the best food in town in Theva Hotel, I highly recommend it and we would go again if we ever come back in Kandy. Green Curry was amazing and other dishes as well!!!

The atmosphere and views were great. The food was excellent quality and reasonable price. We absolutely loved it. You should ook before you go and know that google maps won't take you all the way there. It's 500m beyond what google says. Walking back to lake is about 45 min but really beautiful walk, where we saw many lovely birds and butterflies. Beware of stray dogs though.

Friendly staff. We came late for lunch, so the restaurant was quite empty. They switched on the air conditioner for us. Food is tasty, but overpriced. Food was cooked on the spot, so it took about 30mins. Location is good, but not conveniently accessible. We had the chicken briyani, Sri Lankan red chilli fish curry, and traditional mutton curry. Coke zero served was 2 days away from expiring. On a side note, I thought it was very innovative for them to use computer pc fans as ventilators in their bathrooms.

I recently visited Kandy and had both breakfast and lunch from this place, and I must say, I was genuinely impressed. The place is very clean and well-maintained, with an efficient system in place to avoid unnecessary queues, which really saves time. They offer a wide variety of cuisines, so there’s something for everyone. I had the English breakfast in the morning and it was superb. Generous portions and great taste. For lunch, we tried the biryani and the spicy chicken fried rice. Both were absolutely delicious and came in large portions. The beverages were also really good. One of the biggest highlights for me was the pricing. Compared to restaurants in Colombo, the prices here were surprisingly reasonable without compromising on quality. I will definitely be back next time I’m in Kandy.

We had very good meals at the Worldspice. Great selection of food types. The quality is very good and they are fast in service as well. Clean place to wash hands. The system works with a card that you can purchase items UpTo 8,000 LKR per person. You can pay for what you eat during the checkout. Very nice and clean place. Plenty of seating available as well. Their Thai food used to be quite good, yesterday I ordered their Thai set menu and a Tom Yum soup, they were terrible!! not sure if they have changed chef, flavours are completely off! Hope the management does something about it, because other than that, the place and the service are very good.

The Soy Rotti was flavorful and delicious, the Soy Chinese Rolls were good, and I ended with a Soy Ice Cream that was refreshingly tasty. The prices are also reasonable.

Went because I’d always wanted to go there. We just had a soy rotti, soy cutlet and a soy pattie All 3 were meh. Not exceptional, but good quantity for the price and filling. Then had an ice cream cuz that’s apparently their specialty. It was alright and the amount was huge. But I guess I had unreasonably high expectations for taste Would we come again, yes if in the vicinity. But I won’t go out of my way for the experience again :)

So special to find vegan soft serve ice cream! It’s a little icy compared to what I remember of soft serve, and the flavor is a bit salty (but good!) If you eat milk, it’s probably not an exact replica, but it’s a very tasty cold treat. Also enjoyed the soy ball filled with a well balanced, not too salty savory filling, and a soy bun. Very welcome surprise to find vegan soft serve ice cream on my trip in Sri Lanka! Has a unique slightly salty savoury taste but it looks and feels like ice cream and it's cheap so very nice on a hot day. The soya wrap is also tasty

Nice location but honestly the empire breakfast I received was 100% not worth the 2800 rupees they charge. Can get better and cheaper in central London and that says a lot. Beans were cold and tiniest portion of spinach/mushrooms. Also the “sausage” was just a hotdog.

We had dinner and breakfast here during our time in Kandy and it was good. A great thali one evening and a nice breakfast. Helpful service too and conveniently located near the lake.

Arrived here after visiting the tooth Relic Temple as it's situated right next to it. 1450 for rice and curry is expected for tourist price and tasted really good. Food arrived quickly. However, kotthu didn't taste very nice and we ordered some cokes that didn't taste nice nor like the branded Coca colas. Drinks are of high price.

Bad Experience with the Chicken Submarine Today I visited Global Kitchen in Kandy. While the service was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. I was very disappointed with the food. I ordered a chicken submarine, but it barely had any chicken in it, it was mostly filled with carrots. On top of that, it had a strange sweet taste, which made it even worse. Honestly, this is the worst submarine I’ve ever had. I can’t comment on the rest of the menu, but based on this experience, I won’t be ordering that again.

I ordered 2 Chicken Biryani. It's Very tasty. Good packaging. But It is not recommended to add gravy in to the rice directly. Give gravy packet separately. Overall food is tasty.

Visited for the lunch .very elegant look inside and calm place .very speed service and food was awesome.we got “wok sty rice chicken” and “Lasagna chicken” . Lasagna comes up in a hot pot and looks fabulous. It got 10/10 and how to say no to this. Anytime favorite lasagna for me. And we got the rice is so nize and chicken was so tender and it got 9/10. One my friend got rice and curry. It was very tasty and colurfull.so worth for the price. Highly recommended place to have lunch as a group or couple.

The place is pretty good from all aspects. They have pretty decent main varsities. I gave them 4 starts because of I asked for a non spicy chicken kottu plate but I got it very spicy.

Visitng the cafe after few years. The menu is updated and I am in love with the new menu. Really Happy they introduced the combo meals of which we ordered the diced chicken meal. It was really an amazing dish. However I must say that the sauce in the chicken was too much tangy and chemically maybe due to too much tomato sauce. The chicken pieces itself tasted really nice and the bellpepper peices complemented it really well. Its just that the sauce is off. Other components were really good. Salad, Bok Choy and Rice complemented well with each other. We also ordered the chocolate bubble tea. The drink tasted amazing but the tapioca pearls were really dissapointing. We found like 10 pearls that are not chewy and disentigrate which is disgusting. Anyway the place is great and there are lots of options to choose from, if we did not order the bubble tea, we would have given a better rating. Kudos to the new changes and hope that you will continue to be the place we wanna visit again and again

The place was quite crowded, and we had to wait a long time to get a table, a sign of its popularity! Despite the wait, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience pleasant. We ordered Seafood Cheese Koththu and Nasi Goreng, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich, the portions generous, and everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. This place is trurly a vibe. You can choose from wide range of various meals from local to western, we ended up ordering a chicken and a beef burger with amazing fries. Also, you get free water bottle automatically when you order something. Although we came here during peak hours and the Kandy Esala, the place wasn't too crowded. After all it was super chill and definitely worth a visit.

I ordered nuggets (1 plate), avocado, apple juice, cheese kottu, and a brownie with ice cream. However, you missed serving the brownie but still added it to the bill. The food was tasty, and I asked the waiter to make the kottu extra spicy, but it wasn’t. The interior design was amazing, but the waiters’ behavior was very disappointing. Once we place our order, please give customers some privacy — it feels like the staff are constantly watching. There are about 5 or 6 CCTV cameras already, so there’s no need for that kind of behavior. Please take this feedback seriously and improve your service

I had a very disappointing experience. The food I ordered was not worth the price at all – the presentation was poor and not appealing. At around 9.30 pm, I was told that the kitchen was already closed, which was very inconvenient. On top of that, I ordered a Coca-Cola and what was served in the glass didn’t even taste like Coke – it was either mixed with water or completely flat. Honestly, the overall experience was very unpleasant.

Came here for lunch from Kandy viewpoint. Walk past Amanda guest inn for 50m, there is a staircase leading down to the street where the restaurant is located. Do not follow Google map as it will lead you to go a big detour. Prices are very reasonable. Had a medium teriyaki chicken pizza which is just nice for 1. Mix of locals and tourists here. Was assigned the outdoor area which was easy, breezy beautiful lol and offers partial view of the lake. Very calm, peaceful and away from the city.

There’s just enough space for a few vehicles right in front of the building, though the road is a bit narrow and on a slope. If you’re coming by car or van, be prepared for a tight fit, but it’s doable. All in all, a great spot for a tasty meal in a cozy setting. Definitely worth a visit!

It was good to have a break from the lovely Sri Lankan food, just for one evening! The beef burger was meaty and juicy and perfectly cooked, and my husband enjoyed his chicken with cheese! It would have been good for the chicken dish to have had a garnish or side salad, as it looked a little bland. But the taste was good. The service was excellent and everything served with a big smile.

Located in the house of the restaurant owner, it’s a very cozy place. Very friendly and modest guy and good food. We had the rib eye and the golden core delight (juicy air fried chicken) all of that was true, the only chicken in Sri Lanka we had that was really juicy. The rib eye was juicy and perfect on taste. Small menu but if everything is good, why expand? A little pricey compared to others but it’s worth it for sure! Recommend if you want a nice piece of meat!

Amazing staff. We were out of season so it was quiet but they had a band playing, which added to the atmosphere. The choice of food is very varied. You could travel around the globe on the menu, and as such, I think the quality suffers, but the views from here across Kandy are worth the mediocre food.

This roof top location is the only positive, we as a group of four can find. Food was poor standard and undefined. Deffintely priced for the tourist but food was flavourless. I had a plate full of chips and rice, both cold, with fish somewhere in between. Having told the waiter they were cold he went to get more. After eating the fish, because I was hungry, he eventually brought the warm food and wanted to put the fresh chips and rice on top of the cold. With prices geared at tourists the food quality and service needs to be much much better. My friends had King prawns which were over cooked and sauces were bland. Satay beef Deffintely lacked any satay.!!!!. Would not recommend and advised our tour guide not to recommend.

My recent visit to Natural Coffee was quite disappointing. The service was slow, with staff taking an inordinate amount of time to address our needs, including not offering water until we asked. Additionally, the cleanliness was lacking plates were not properly cleaned. The chopsticks were reused and not clean. Even though we felt disgusted we had to try them coz it was our first time that we try those food. And also coz of the price range.These factors combined to create a frustrating dining experience. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant based on my visit.

I visited Cafe Natural in Kandy yesterday, and it was a complete disappointment. The coffee was absolutely terrible—one of the worst I’ve ever had. The place was not clean at all, making it an unpleasant environment to sit in. The service was just as bad. I ordered an almond cake, but it was as hard as a rock—completely inedible. When I asked for water, they did provide it, but by then, my experience was already ruined. Overall, I would never recommend this place to anyone. Definitely not worth the visit!

I recently ordered from Natural Coffee, and here’s what I got. Katsu Don – 1900 LKR Tuna and Corn Sushi (7 pieces) – 1900 LKR 3 Onigiri/Rice Balls – 400 LKR each Katsu Don At 1900 LKR, the portion was very small—only about 3/4 of a small cup. The taste was disappointing, lacking the authentic Japanese flavors you’d expect. Given the portion size and quality, it wasn’t worth the price. Tuna and Corn Sushi This was the most disappointing dish. Although I was assured the tuna would be raw, it arrived cooked—and in a very small amount. Most of the roll was filled with corn and cucumber (which wasn’t even listed on the menu). It felt like cucumber was used to stretch the filling and reduce the amount of tuna. The wasabi provided was tiny and didn’t taste or look authentic. At 1900 LKR, this sushi was a letdown. Onigiri/Rice Balls These were far from traditional onigiri. Made with brown sticky rice, they were flat instead of the usual triangular shape. The menu said they were chicken-filled, but I barely found any chicken. At 400 LKR each, they were more like plain rice patties. Summary While the prices seem reasonable, the small portions and lack of quality make this a poor choice. The food doesn’t deliver on taste or authenticity, leaving you disappointed.

Coming from the UK, the prices are certainly lower and more worthwhile, with delicious pizza. However, portions are slightly smaller than in the UK (still plentiful). Additionally, service was very slow (despite a 7.5% service charge), so if you are in a hurry that is something to consider. Overall, still a nice place to go with good food.

I don’t want to comment on the food since most people already know about it and the quality for themselves. What I do want to mention is the excellent service we received. I personally wanted to thank the waiter who had our table. I think his name was Mr. Chandana. He was extremely helpful and attentive throughout our visit. He made sure we had everything we needed and was very polite and professional. It is rare to come across staff who genuinely care about making your experience pleasant, and he did exactly that. Even though I’m not commenting on the food, the service alone made our visit memorable. It’s people like him who make a place stand out and give customers a reason to come back. I really appreciate his effort and dedication.

Unexpected little gem of a restaurant. It was recommended to us by someone we met at our hotel. It’s a very small shack tucked away a little off the beaten track. Downstairs was full so we sat upstairs on low stools. The room was somewhat shabby and sparse. However, we were made very welcome by the staff. The menu is small, but interesting veggie/vegan fare. We chose the two ‘bowl’ dishes along with fruit juices. Our food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Both my wife and I savoured every mouthful. The serving was filling, but so tasty that I could definitely have eaten more. The food is 100% value for money. Overall, a really good place to grab a quick and tasty bite.

This is a hidden gem in Kandy which is great place for vegan food. The approach road is a bit dark at night but it is a safe place. Staff is very attentive. There is outdoor seating, small indoors and then small place upstairs with lots of books, games and low seating. The food is amazing and portion size is generous. We had the noodle salad with tofu but what stood out was the jackfruit burger with sweet potato fries. All in all an excellent place for quiet evening meal! 10% service charge is added to the bill.

After a tiring day we went to have dinner & there are nice vegetarian & vegan options. We just ordered a pumpkin soup & a jackfruit burger. We found this spot after looking through some reviews and guides for Kandy and as lovers of Thali, we thought we'd give it a go. We were the only people here but the food was incredible. Our host was super kind and explained all the dishes, how they were cooked and how to eat in a typical Sri lankan way. It was also great value.

We went there only for dinner just because it was accessible due to the festival in the city centre (it was so crowded in the city centre that we were unable to visit a restaurant there). I ordered chicken kottu and it was delicious. Kottu is a popular Sri Lankan street food consisting of chopped roti, vegetables and meat, and spices, stir fried on a hot griddle. The staff gave us a warm welcome. Food was freshly prepared so it took them some time to cook. You can add spice to the dish yourself. Not a luxurious restaurant but food was tasty. If you enjoy a quiet, not expensive but good quality meal, here is the place.

But I didn’t see the ice and the waiter just send it back immediately without saying anything. How hard was it to get such a simple order right. It was ok when they gave me the wrong order it’s the blaming that made me lose it all. Not recommended for sure.

We went to this restaurant expecting a good dining experience but unfortunately, it was very disappointing, we waited for about 30-35 minutes, ordered 5 - 6 dishes Nasi Goreng, Biryani, Submarine and Falooda, Mojito, Fried Rice The Nasi and Biryani, Falooda were not up to standard. Below average. The chicken fried rice tasted so weird that we couldn't eat it. All the dishes and service were not impressed.

I visited Dinamore Kandy last Thursday and had a very disappointing experience. I had to wait around 15 minutes just to give my order. No one came to the table, even after I asked the security guard to send someone. Finally, I had to call a steward myself, and he sent another person. I ordered a Coca-Cola and a crispy chicken submarine. I wanted to order a fresh juice too, but I didn’t, because I felt it would take forever to arrive. After giving my order, I waited more than 15 minutes again. Finally, I went to the reception to remind them, and only then was my food sent to the table. The submarine was cold, clearly left waiting in the kitchen without being served. The funniest part is—when it was time to pay, suddenly three people surrounded me expecting a tip. I asked them to call the person who actually served me, but they pointed to the one who brought the bill. I eventually found the young boy who served my order and gave him a small tip directly. The food was just okay, but not as tasty as it used to be. Overall, poor service and a disappointing experience.

We first ordered nasi goreng, but when we tried it, the rice had a bad smell. We then asked for fried rice instead, but it was also terrible. The only thing we ordered that was actually good was the Submarine Beef Bun.

This place has the best submarines, hands down. I have never ordered anything else, so I cannot really comment on the rest of the menu. The submarines are always fresh, tasty, and filling. The portion size is great, so even if you are really hungry, one submarine is usually enough. Every time I eat here, I know I’m getting a really good sandwich. The bread is soft, the fillings are generous, and the flavors are always on point. If you love submarines, this is definitely the place to go. I always leave satisfied and looking forward to my next visit.

We have been ordering Dinemore food for nearly 10 years. It's actually disappointing the service of Dinemore; the cashier doesn't respect the customers at all with a happy face, and there is totally no respect. This tea shop feels just right in heart of Kandy. I can imagine the same shop existing in 100 years ago just like this. Other than being uniquely Kandyan, this place is a cozy place as well. Types of tea and coffee they offer here is various and unique. Food items are good as well. Pricing is reasonable too. Just thought I'd share an opportunity with you! I recently visited KANDY, Sri Lanka and was surprised that there's no proper tea gift centre in the heart of the city. I stumbled upon Mlesna Tea Center, a small hidden gem near the town. I think they have huge potential and would thrive if they moved to the KCC, where they could tap into the large tourist traffic. With Delma tea not having a presence in KANDY, I think this could be a great opportunity for them to build a monopoly and create a world-class tea experience. Just a thought!

The interior has yellowish warm dim lights and a neat looking wood finished walls. The tea is on point and there’s a range of snacks to be selected. We ordered an eclair and a chocolate cake. It came with a fresh tea leaf on the top. The waiter even made us the tea on the table, and was very polite. My only suggestion for the place is to have some music to go with the atmosphere and the food. Supiriiii!

Terrible experience! Sugary welcome drink with awful taste, double deluxe room was just twin beds pushed together. Complimentary birthday cake was inedible. No breakfast buffet as promised, and very limited food options. Clean rooms but charged extra for water bottles. No bellboys, no warm welcome, and poor customer service overall. Yesterday and the day before, I stayed at a hotel in Kandy called Oak Ray Heritage. From the very beginning, a person named Mr. Danushka guided me — he was superb. He gave me exactly the type of room I wanted, one with a nice view, and kept it on hold for me. They provide 24-hour customer service and treat customers with great respect. There were absolutely no shortcomings — everything from a toothbrush to other necessities was supplied without any issue. The staff were also extremely friendly. It’s a place where anyone can stay alone without any fear. I too stayed without fear as a solo traveler, and it’s also a place where even a girl traveling alone can stay safely.

I attended my friend’s wedding at Orkray Heritage Hotel today, and it was a terrible experience. The wedding was scheduled to start at 9.00 AM. By 10.45 AM, the venue was still not ready. The reception area was incomplete, tables were not set up, and it was clear that nothing was prepared properly. The hotel staff were completely unorganized and unprofessional. No one took responsibility for the delays or the mess — they simply ignored the situation. Very bad hotel. Poor hotel. Zero management. No one should ever choose this place for a wedding. Do not trust them with your special day. This kind of careless service is unacceptable for any event — especially a wedding. I strongly do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Time Management Was Disastrous: - The ceremony started over 45 minutes late because staff were unprepared and disorganized. - We witnessed staff laughing behind the curtains when bride's elder sister sweeping floor for them. There wedding day was irreplaceable, and Oak Ray Heritage ruined it through sheer incompetence. They ignored schedule, provided zero leadership, and showed no regard for there investment or emotions. Do not risk your special day here. Strongly advise looking elsewhere.

A perfect one-stop-shop in Sri Lanka. Don’t miss this for any reason. From souvenirs, gifts, clothing and a beautiful cafe - Sthree is everything. Sthree is a part of the Women’s Development Centre in Kandy and exhibits amazing items made by women with and without disabilities. Reasonably priced and very artistically made items are available here. Sri Lanka’s art in one store. Ashwini welcomes you with a smile and takes you around the store. The cafe is also open for private cooking sessions. You can contact them and host your group.

Dropped by for lunch and was pleasantly surprised to find this hidden cafe in this building. Was able to enjoy an authentic Sri Lankan Rice and Curry meal. The food was so delicious I naturally forgot to take a photo of it. (Would have also been famished) The Sthree Cafe as the sales assistants explain is frequented by young adults and foreigners.

Extremely Disappointed with the Service We visited your restaurant with kids and were shocked by the lack of basic hygiene and customer service. Despite requesting multiple times to have our table cleaned, no one attended to us for over 30 minutes. Eventually, we had to clean the table ourselves using tissues just so our children could eat. Out of courtesy, we didn’t throw the mess into the dustbin ourselves—hoping it would prompt your staff to take responsibility and not repeat this neglect with the next customer. Sadly, this experience left us very disappointed. Cleanliness and attentiveness should never be optional in a dining establishment.

Visited the outlet after a while to grab a snack. Nice location and atmosphere. But that's it. Had to wait for unacceptable time period to grab a small snack. Lady at the counter informed their kitchen 3 time to prepare it but it took so long. Also the taste is not as it was. Also there is another outlet for Ice creams and milk shakes at the same premises (Realized it later after placing the order) which is not a part of the KFC but same staff has been deployed. They don't accept card payments (Cash only) that also brought to notice at the point of payment even after they have made the order. Very unprofessional and and unacceptable level of service. Also what they provide is different to the products they are showcasing on the screen.

KFC Kandy has a very friendly and welcoming staff, which makes the experience pleasant. However, the outlet is located upstairs in a building, so it may not be the most convenient for everyone to access.

Very disappointed with my recent experience at this KFC outlet. There was a hair on the bottom bun of the burger, which was extremely unhygienic and unacceptable. Also, the burger looked nothing like the image shown on the ordering board it was poorly assembled and unappetizing. Overall, it was a very unpleasant visit.

I came to Kandy KFC on a Saturday. There were decent crowd in the stall waiting in the queue. 2 counters were closed, only one counter was working. In terms of food, no taste at all. We ordered 3 regular Biriyani and 3 zinger burgers. Biriyani was like Kiri bath. Zinger burger was cool and no taste at all. Just waste of money. Only good one to say is the atmosphere. Nice view in the window side. But compared to other places around the city is super cool. Not recommended to anyone.

They have parking outside, but it's only free for 30 minutes. (It took 1 and a half hours for me to dine in.) Then its charge rate is high. It’s not fair and not recommended to park on the premises. Other than that, it's similar to other outlets.

The place is clean, well-maintained, and offers a wide variety of food options under one roof. For around Rs. 300 per person, you can enjoy a satisfying meal with plenty of different items. They serve Sri Lankan, Tamil, and English-style dishes, so there’s something for everyone. From roti, kiribath, dosa, wada, udu wada, pittu, and idiappa (string hoppers) to rice and curry, sweets, burgers, and fresh drinks — the choices are endless and all freshly made. A great place for families, travelers, and anyone who wants to taste traditional Sri Lankan food at its best without spending too much. Highly recommended!

Excellent choice of top quality local foods in this food court. Make a note/photograph what you like, then pay at the till (cards accepted) and then hand over tickets to collect your choices at the different counters. All the Food is freshly prepared by local women and helps to support their families. The hopper didn’t make the photo as it’s was too delicious.

This is the Hela Bhojun Hala we would recommend you visit. We got there after a lot of wrong decisions but the hype is so worth it. The concept itself is commendable. The quality, the options, the pricing all at such a location is amazing. I have been lucky to go beyond being a budget traveller. I am more of a 'we have endless budget' for the first half of the trip and "I don't want to eat ya, I am just here at the vibes. Thank you for the water, can you freeze it into cubes for me? Oh cubes are paid for? Well then the water is fine" traveller now. We were on the first half of the trip but this place is amazing. We had like 8-9 items and all of them were either decent/good or amazing. We paid under 1000LKR for the entire meal. What I would recommend is the EGG CHEESE HOPPER. That thing hits harder than Will Smith. It was so good. The cheese and egg work together brilliantly. Please ask them to make a fresh one or wait till other people around take the colder ones and they make a fresh batch :P It is so worth it. I apologise for not clicking any pictures. I was too hungry. Also tactfully, if you are 2+ people, one should try to find a seat as it is packed and the other does the ordering. If you are 3 people then it is perfect as one can order, other one finds a seat and the third carries dishes aka the passer. If you are 4+ then analyse if you want to ditch a friend because 3 is perfect. If you are alone, get friends, you loser (but not too many)

Great local food! You know its really local quality and super affordable, when the place is filled with hungry sri lankans. After conversion we paid around 2.50€ or 3$ for a meal of two! The cooks were also super nice and friendly and really helpful

I recently dined at the Oak Ray Restaurant in Kandy and must say it is an excellent place to dine if you are visiting Kandy Temple and City. The restaurant is conveniently located very close to the temple, which makes it the perfect place to refresh after the temple visit. The prices at the Oak Ray restaurant are very reasonable and this made the experience even more enjoyable. You can enjoy great food at affordable prices. The staff was very courteous and welcoming. They were well-versed with the menu and helped us choose our meals. The only small drawback is that the location of the restaurant is not visible much. But, for people who are aware of the locality, it is not an issue. Overall, I had a very positive experience at the Oak Ray Restaurant in Kandy. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a tasty meal at a reasonable price while on a visit to Kandy. The kindness of the staff and the great food make it a worthwhile dining experience.

It doesn't matter how good the food is if the service is appalling! We arrived with our guide and driver to treat him to lunch. They completely ignored our driver as a guest. My wife and I received menus, but he didn't. We had to ask for one. They "forgot" to bring us water as we watched them serve the European guests. After asking, they brought the water and only poured glasses for my wife and me, neglecting our guest. When we finished eating, our guest wanted to take the rest of his food home as a takeaway. The young, tall and slim waiter gave me a disgusted look when I asked, then he asked someone else to assist me. I don't care if it's just a slice of bread, I'm paying for it, and I should be able to take it away. They spoke to our guest in the Sri Lankan language, and he told them it was okay out of embarrassment. This was saddening, and I truly hate how I felt after this experience. I DON'T RECOMMEND this place to anyone. I don't know if it was racism or colorism, but discrimination has no place in a "professional" environment. I was thoroughly enjoying our day in Kandy, but this disgusting behavior honestly ruined the day.

I visited The Bakehouse in Kandy and was impressed by the service. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and very attentive. The atmosphere has a very local feel, which made the experience quite authentic. There are plenty of dishes to choose from, and the menu offers a wide range of options. Personally, I found the traditional Sri Lankan food a bit challenging as the strong aromas and spicy curries were new to me, so it wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. However, I really enjoyed the tea they served, which was excellent. The restaurant is conveniently located right opposite the KCC shopping mall, making it easy to find. While the food may not have suited my taste, I would still recommend this place for its service, atmosphere, and authentic local experience.

Good staff and customer service. Food also good. One of my favorite places to have breakfast. At the time of this review you can buy String Hoppers breakfast for around Rs.300-400 which includes two different curries and sambol. usually they provide string hoppers with Dried sprat Curry,Coconut sambol and a Dhal curry.You can also select different options with different curries which may change price.

Before charging premium rates, it might be wise to first understand how to properly cook fried rice and what it actually the meaning of fried rice.. Really Disappointed

Absolutely loved the vibe at Hideout Lounge! The atmosphere is stylish yet relaxed, with great music and a creative design that captures the charm of Kandy. The cocktails were well done and the food was exceptional. If you have a sweet tooth, the Jaggery Beef dish is a must-try … unusual, but it works beautifully. Came here as saw it all over social media. It’s a good option for a few drinks & some western food in Kandy, as there isn’t many other alternatives. The staff were always friendly & attentive. The drinks were good quality - cold & fresh. We had the sea bass & the cauliflower steak and both were delicious.

We had a new dish, the Zucchini Carpaggio which was really good and filling. The vegan meatballs was delicious and light and tasted really good! Mithu had some great recommendations on the food and the drinks and was super helpful throughout the evening :)

We went to Hideout a few times during our stay in Kandy and absolutely loved it! The food and drinks were great, and the atmosphere was so welcoming. The staff were all super friendly, we really enjoyed our little chats with them each time we visited. Such a lovely spot to enjoy good vibes. Definitely recommend!

This place was outstanding. The waiters are smiling all the time and trying to help us with their food recommendations. The place's vibes are really stunning and so positive. Some cool music was playing with the DJ in the background but not too loud though. We tried hummus with prawns which was very exotic and big portion given it's an appetizer! Their cocktails are a bit expensive comparing to Srilanka but they are worth it! Food vibes and staff thumps up!

A pleasant place, tastefully decorated and without excessive colorfulness. The food is delicious and the drinks are cold, rich and refreshing. It's a bit of a problem for parking because it has a limited number of places. You need to announce yourself. The terrace above is spacious and nicely decorated and has excellent air circulation, which is very important here. The prices are affordable and you can have a nice lunch for 12-20 euros per person with a drink.

Our room was spacious and clean, and the staff were very polite and helpful throughout our stay. We booked a room-only plan, so we didn’t try the food, but the dining area looked great. I stayed at Queen’s hotel for a night. As a solo traveler, I booked a superior double room with an en-suite and a balcony from which you can see the Buddha’s statue! The room was clean and came with all the essentials. Love the British style architecture and decor of the hotel. The breakfast was wonderful too! The location is great, right across from the lake and a temple as well as close to the railway station. Also, Michelle was super helpful in answering any questions and recommending local Sri Lankan food to try for me! She also ensured that I reach at the railway station on time by speaking to the driver directly. Thank you! I had lunch recently at this place. The staff is nice and very welcoming. The food and beverages are excellent. There is English colonial architecture throughout the premises. The upper-level verandah and dining area feature an elegant heritage design, which is hard to find in many places. Went in for coffee when visiting Kandy for the first time and ended up getting breakfast too. The coffee was great (had a latte and a cappuccino) and the chicken sandwich and brownie were great too. Went in the next day for coffee and another sandwich and some fish and chips and everything was excellent once again. The service was great and the location (especially when sitting outside) is quite nice. The bathrooms were immaculate and had toilet paper, hand-wash and a sanitary bin. Overall a great experience. Beautiful old English style hotel in the heart of Kandy, a short walk from the Temple of The Sacred Tooth Relic and the lake. The rooms are old fashioned and a little quirky but comfortable and the staff are terrific. Loved the breakfast on the balcony and English speaking local newspapers. We organised our onward driver through the staff here. I’d definitely stay here again.

Great location. Colonial atmosphere. Reasonable pricing. But Extremely bad attitude. They worship foreigners. We are null and void. Staff is unfriendly. They do not smile at you. They do not treat you with dignity. Such Slapdash behaviour. I don’t like this type of treatment. But you are most welcome to visit the place. May be they will treat you better.

We came to the Royal bar for a drink and I would say it’s a must do in Kandy. Really old building with an interesting picture room that’s worth looking at. Drinks were on the expensive side but that wasn’t unexpected. The standout was the food. We ordered a chicken Dosa thinking it was a snack (given that it was cheaper than a beer) and it fed two of us to the point we cancelled our dinner plans! Really tasty. If you can try and sit downstairs it’s a bit more for the locals and a better experience - for example, they have draft beer downstairs but not offered upstairs. Overall worth the experience, as most places in Sri Lanka, the staff were wonderful!

This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. We ordered a chicken submarine that smelled fishy and rotten. The first bite was so sour and disgusting, it nearly made us vomit on the spot. We immediately told the staff, and instead of showing any concern, the chef arrogantly said it “looked good” — but also admitted he hadn’t tasted it. What kind of chef refuses to taste food that customers say might be spoiled? No apology. No refund. No accountability. Just a smug attitude and the same ridiculous response: “It’s good.” When we asked them to taste it themselves, they flat-out refused — probably because they knew it was inedible. To make things worse, we still had to pay for that garbage. The customer service was nonexistent, and the entire experience was disgusting and unacceptable. This place shouldn’t even be serving food. Avoid it like the plague.

Got a chicken Shawarma and I'm very very disappointed. Tasted like mushroom drowned in mayonnaise. 1000lkr wasted. The 450lkr Shawarma in "Burgers vs Shawarma" is far better with half the price. Not to mention there's no water, sauce or napkins at any table at all. I had to ask water separately. I mean how, from a restaurant at this price level.

Food was fine, not the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka but it was quite good compared to other restaurants we’ve been to in Kandy. There were three dishes that we wanted but the restaurant didn’t have the ingredients (okra, clauiflower, spinach) so we ended up having veg curry, which was mainly carrots, and dahl. The breads were good. Service was fine as well and we were served quite quickly.

I appreciated the spacious room and the pleasant view from Room No. 308. However, there were several issues that impacted our stay: The mattress was quite uncomfortable, and it felt like the springs were worn out, making it hard to rest properly. The air conditioner made a loud noise whenever turned on, which was quite disturbing, especially at night. The shower head in the bathroom was broken and fell off multiple times while we were showering. Unfortunately, the hotel didn't meet our expectations.

We were in a group tour and visited the handicraft section. The silk section and incidentally, their restaurant to appears to be at the high-end, showing a lot of good variety of different handicrafts. I also experienced carving out a little bit on the wood. The the representative explain different type of woods found in sri lanka and it was a very educational lecture.We were very impressed with all the variety on both the flowers and the entire place appear to be very professionally, managed clean toilets and a lot of parking facilities too available

I recently went there for lunch buffet with my family. They charged rs 4000 per one. But, There were very limited food varieties. Dessert conner was very simple. ( fruits, jelly, ice cream, bread pudding and sago pudding) Because, I had lots of experience with buffet. Sri Lankan food was very delicious. But, overall lunch buffet, it’s not worth. And, I spent one night there. Room was very good and clean. Staff and hotel room were fantastic.

I think some of them are unique to the restaurant. But I bought a pizza. Because I am a pizza lover. The pizza dough is good, it is very soft. But I was not very happy with the pizza I bought. I bought the Surf & Turf pizza. Because it was in the restaurant's Signature Pizza category. My personal opinion is that beans & potatoes should not be put in that way. (Try grilled potato & bean). It tasted like an Indian vegetarian restaurant. I know that customer wise (taste) food is not prepared in restaurants. Therefore, I hope this will be taken as my personal opinion.

We had an amazing dinner out at La Mulberry. ‘Chicken Pasta’ was one of the most delicious pastas that I‘ve ever tried. From Pizzas, we tried ‘BBQ Chicken’ and ‘Peri Peri Chicken’ and those were pretty tasty as well. And ‘Chicken Rice Bowl’ was the perfect getaway for us from the regular fried rice that we have so often. ‘Orange & Mango’ along with ‘Passion Fruit & Mint’ fresh juices were the perfect combination to finish our amazing dinner.

Such a nice and cozy place in Kandy! The food was really delicious and the prices were quite affordable too. Loved the calm atmosphere — perfect for relaxing or catching up with friends. The place has a lovely vintage touch, and the staff were kind and welcoming. Would happily visit again! ☕💛

I visited Cafe Nuwara recently with my wife. It’s a beautiful place with a nice atmosphere and a great location for photography — perfect spot to relax. The food was good, but I was not satisfied with the drinks — they had too much ice and very little drink. The waiter service could be improved too. Overall, it’s a lovely place to visit, especially for the view and vibe.

I recently visited Cafe Nuwara, and it was a lovely experience overall. My friend had given me a “bride-to-be” sash, and the staff made the occasion feel really special. A big shout-out to Pasindu, who was very attentive and helpful throughout our visit by accommodating our various needs efficiently. The food was good the portion sizes were generous and definitely worth the price. Everything we tried was well-prepared. We chose to sit outside, which had a nice vibe, although it was a little hot and humid. Some extra cooling would make the outdoor seating even more enjoyable. One area that really needs improvement, though, is the washroom. It didn’t have basic amenities and was not clean at all. A thorough makeover is definitely needed to match the vibes of the cafe. Overall, Cafe Nuwara is a great spot or hang out.

I tried the double cheeseburger for the first time — it was good, though the cheese flavor could be improved a bit. We also had a mocha bubble drink, which was absolutely delicious! The customer service was very friendly and welcoming, and we really appreciated that. However, a few staff members were a bit noisy while setting up, which slightly affected the calm vibe, especially since we were the first customers of the day. And we found a small piece of egg shell on the egg in the burger. And better if can improve the chairs. It’s hard to rest while having foods Overall, I’m happy with the experience! The place has lovely décor and a beautiful aesthetic that truly captures the Kandy vibe.

No words can explain the customer service at cafe nuwara... Absolute greatness!!! We wanted to surprise our sister for her birthday and the staff was soo sooo into helping us planning it.(especially the two guys in the photo-kudos to them) They literally delivered a lot more than we expected ,even we got surprised by all the birthday music and decos on the cake ( we didnt ask for anything.how thoughtful and nice of them). Food was top notch as always.Delicious and high quality food . No doubt. Great food !!! Greater customer care !!! A place you definitely have to visit!!!

If you're in Kandy, this is the place to go to! Incredible food, the chicken cheese pasta especially was very delicious I loved it. The food proportions are good value for the price. The staff service was impeccable. And a big thank you to Marso who was very friendly and helpful 🙏 Its very spacious and clean and the interior design is stunning! Very happy and would recommend Cafe Nuwara to anyone.

The food is good, but not remarkable enough to make the place memorable. The butter prawns were very spicy for my taste. The restaurant itself is spacious and pleasant, but the furniture feels a bit worn out and dirty, especially the glass tables.

If you're in Kandy and looking for a nostalgic dining experience, New Flower Song restaurant is a must-visit. This vintage-looking Chinese restaurant transports you back to the 70s, with its old-school decor and even a retro lift that adds to the charm. After a long road trip, we were famished and ordered a variety of dishes: Hot and Sour soup, Singapore chilli fish, fried spring rolls, omelette, stir-fry vegetables, and two large plates of seafood fried rice and Singapore Beehoon noodles. The taste was decent, and while the authenticity of the Chinese dishes could be rated at 65%, the effort was commendable. One downside was the slow service; we had to wait over 30 minutes for our food, which tested our patience. However, the staff remained polite and patient throughout, which was appreciated. Despite the wait, we left the restaurant happy and full. The total bill came to slightly over 12,000 rupees, which we found reasonable for the amount of food we ordered. Overall, New Flower Song offers a unique dining experience with a touch of nostalgia, decent food, and courteous service.

I've been a loyal customer here for years, but the quality has absolutely nosedived since COVID. I recently ordered through Uber Eats, only to find that these twinklemutts had mixed old fish with fresh—seriously? As someone who's eaten seafood all my life, I can tell you there's no hiding that stench. I've really held myself from putting this review for so long, one disappointment after another. Good riddance. Ps - Attaching a picture as proof that I actually ordered.

Recently visited this place. Ordered fried rice, hot butter cuttlefish, Singapore chicken, soup. Except for the chicken and soup. The seafood rice hardly any seafood and rice not cooked properly. And the buttercuttle fish was was very deep fried exactly like a biscuit. Wouldn’t recommend much.

The Food here tastes so good and the price seems fair when it comes to main dishes but the side dish and appetizer prices are little high when we compare it to the main dishes. Overall it’s a good Chinese restaurant👍🏾🔥
