Kandyan Muslim Hotel (Pvt) Ltd, despite its name, is not a hotel but a bustling eatery near the Lord Kataragama Temple. It offers traditional Sri Lankan cuisine such as plate-sized naan, spicy curries, samosas, and koththu roti. This restaurant in the heart of Kandy is known for its authentic Sri Lankan Muslim cuisine and warm hospitality.
Best food I’ve had in Sri Lanka and for such an incredible price. We found this on our first night in Kandy and after asking everyone the following day where the best food hotel is everyone said Kandyan Muslim so we went back (Mandiya for lunch was great too!). They have a large menu of options and we went 2 days in a row to sample as much as we could. Beef masala was a real highlight, chicken Kabul was fun and the roast beef in the peppery sauce was impossible not to order multiple times. Very nonchalant waiters who worked long days back to back which did affect the vibe but it was to be able to tip generously.

Delicious and quality food at reasonable prices. Value for money. Better customer service. Ample dinning space available.
Tharanga R — Google review
A very local place for trying authentic local food. Wanted to try briyani but it wasn't available so had the chicken kottu n mamgo lass.. It's very rich n dense in flavour. Many locals patronise the place. There is only cash payment and they don't accept cards.
Kelvin H — Google review
Kandyan Muslim Hotel is a great place in Kandy for tasty local meals at reasonable prices. Their kottu, paratha, and biryani burst with flavor and are always freshly made. The quick service, clean environment, and friendly staff make it popular with both locals and tourists. It’s highly recommended if you want to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan Muslim cuisine.
Abdul M — Google review
Great local spot serving a huge range of local dishes. Our favourite dishes were the vegetable curry and rotti and Kabul. Would love to go back sometime!
Rosie M — Google review
Kandy Muslim Hotel is a solid spot if you’re in the mood for some good rice and curry — that was definitely the best part of the meal for me. They have a nice range of food to choose from, so you won’t run out of options. That being said, there are a few things they could work on. They hardly have any desserts, which was a bit disappointing. Also, the overall food quality could be improved just a bit to match the hype. The place itself could use a little upgrade too. The ambiance isn’t the best and it would really help if the dining area was cleaner and more inviting. Overall, it’s a decent place to grab a meal, especially for rice and curry lovers, but with a bit of improvement in food quality, cleanliness, and dessert options, it could be much better!
LK C — Google review
This is one of the oldest and most well-known restaurants in Kandy town, cherished by both locals and visitors alike. It has been run by the same family for generations, preserving its traditional flavors and reputation over the years. I have visited this place several times, and on each occasion, I opted to take away some of their delicious dishes. Their kottu, rice and curry, especially when paired with the flavorful beef curry, are simply outstanding. The taste is authentic, rich in spices, and truly reflects the essence of Sri Lankan cuisine. The restaurant is almost always busy, a clear sign of its popularity and the quality of its food. However, it doesn't have a large dining area, which is why most people prefer to take their meals as parcels rather than dine in. In addition to their savory offerings, they also serve a nice selection of traditional Sri Lankan sweets, which are definitely worth trying. Overall, it’s a humble yet highly respected restaurant that continues to serve delicious food at reasonable prices. If you're in Kandy and looking for an authentic local food experience, this place is certainly worth a visit.
Sanoon M — Google review
I visited this place recently. The service was good and the food overall was decent. I had the fried rice — it was average, nothing special. However, there were two main issues that stood out. First, the environment was extremely noisy, almost like a marketplace, which made it hard to enjoy the meal peacefully. Second, the cleanliness needs serious improvement — the tables and floor didn’t look well maintained. Also, they don’t accept card payments, which was quite inconvenient. With a few improvements, especially in cleanliness and ambiance, this place could be much better.

Balaji Dosai is a popular vegetarian and vegan South Indian eatery with several branches in Kandy. The Colombo Street location is particularly renowned for its unrivaled menu featuring delicious dosas made with black lentils, aromatic chutneys, and spicy vegetables. This humble establishment prides itself on using fresh, high-quality ingredients to serve mouthwatering dosas and other South Indian delicacies.
Authentic South Indian Flavors in the Heart of Kandy! Balaji Dosai is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic South Indian cuisine. The dosas are crisp, flavorful, and served fresh, and the variety of chutneys and sambar perfectly complement each dish. The menu has something for everyone, from classic dosas to hearty thalis. The ambiance is simple and welcoming, and the staff are friendly and attentive. Prices are reasonable, making it a great spot for a satisfying meal without breaking the bank. If you’re in Kandy and love South Indian food, Balaji Dosai won’t disappoint — a true delight for your taste buds!

Dosa are really delicious here! ❤️ You have a whole range of dosa here. We had an Onion dosa (500LKR), Ghee dosa (600LKR) and a Paper dosa (500LKR) which were really tasty.🤤 You have to go to the cashier, pay and order yourself at the beginning. So a tip would be, ask someone to go get a table and the other can straightaway go to the cashier and make the order. You’d save some time. 😌 P.S The juices are tasty, but a little pricey compared to the size of the cup. Banana shake (600LKR), Faluda (500LKR), Banana lassi (600LKR)
Singhe S — Google review
The dosa shop offers good taste and quality, definitely better compared to many other places in the area. It's also easy to access in Kandy, which is convenient. However, for South Indians, the prices may feel a bit high compared to what we usually pay in India. The lunch meals are tasty but on the spicier side. Overall, a nice place with good food, but pricing could be more reasonable.

Highly Recommended!!🎖️️🍽️ We went to this place few months ago to get the breakfast. The waitors were busy and it took some time to order the food. We ordered a poori set and a papaya 🍹. It took about 10 mins to receive the order. The poori set was very 😋. They maintain a clean environment. We also had tried food from this place several years ago. My favourite was ghee doasi at those times. If you are looking for vegetarian options and a tamil foods, never miss this place.
Kanishka S — Google review
Great vegetarian local fast food. And I say fast cause they really quick bringing your dishes. You sit, order, pay and food comes, easy. Service is also really gentle and you don't feel you have to rush. The food is spicy! Specially the sauces so take that into account. Price is great (look pics) and portions are good. Also the fresh juices are at the same moment made and really good. I needed to order a second one due to the spicy food. Kitchen open. Thank you to the team!

Very nice south indian food. Tasty and decent quantity. Centrally located. We had dine-in as well as take away of most dishes here - dhal wada was very tasty. Dosas were good. Roti are a bit thick. Overall very good food.
Ashwin S — Google review
We went to Balaji Dosai in Kandy and had a dosa so crispy it could double as a frisbee 🥞, and the poori? Puffy little clouds of deliciousness. ☁️ The chutneys made our taste buds dance 💃, the staff treated us like royalty, and it was so cheap our wallets cheered. 💸 Highly recommend for anyone who wants amazing food, laughs, and a bargain!
Zee — Google review
Got an oily mess instead of food. Quality has been dropping over the past few months. Ordered a fried rice but the brinjal curry was drenched in oil. Saw the server visibly smell my food before serving. May be was checking whether the food had gone bad Would rather recommend other vegetarian places around Balaji as i feel they are just surviving due to the name and excellent quality they had in the past.

Restaurant
Perched atop a building in Kandy, The Whizz is a rooftop restaurant that offers breathtaking views of the city. Its diverse menu features an array of dishes such as pasta, sandwiches, and authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. Whether you're seeking a romantic spot for a date night or looking to enjoy affordable drinks and combo meals with friends, The Whizz provides an ideal setting for both.
Discover a hidden gem in Kandy! This café is one of the absolute best in the area the food is not just delicious, it's an unforgettable experience worth every penny. Don’t miss out! 🍛❤️🫶
Uvindu S — Google review
I recently visited The Whizz for lunch and tried their Vegetable Cheese Macaroni. The portion size was generous, which I appreciated. However, the dish was slightly too salty, and the white sauce tasted more floury than cheesy, perhaps a better cheese-to-flour balance would improve the flavor. The ambiance of the place is fairly average. One safety concern worth noting: there’s a low, exposed edge on the fifth floor that feels a bit risky. I’d recommend being cautious with your belongings, especially mobile phones near the table edges to avoid accidental drops.
Nuwan J — Google review
Wouldn’t recommend this place at all. The only thing that was good were the drinks. We went on a friday night and over half the menu items weren’t available. Out of the available items we ordered the cheese bacon kottu which was actually chicken bacon (not disclosed earlier! ) and was overpowered with cabbage. We also order the loaded fries ( which claimed to have mozzarella cheese) Which was just basically drowned in ketchup and mayonnaise. The only burger available was the crispy chicken burger which had a dry bun, dry chicken and again was drowned in the same mayonnaise and sauce. Their drinks were their only saving grace
Avanthi S — Google review
The burger and submarine were really tasty! Both were fresh, well-cooked, and full of flavor. I’d definitely have them again!
Shalisanju S — Google review
We visited The Whizz around 2 pm and ordered the Mongolian Seafood Fried Rice and Raspberry Mojito. They were tasty, the portions were good, and the food was prepared on time. After that, we tried the Chicken Cheese Kottu, which was also really good in taste and portion. All the food we had was worth the money. However, the service was a bit slow, and we had to wait for some time even though it wasn’t crowded. At that time, submarines, burgers, hotdogs, and sandwiches were not available. The ambience is nice, and the dining area is clean I’d rate it 7/10. The only issue is that there’s road construction work going on under the restaurant, so it’s noisy and a bit dusty. Otherwise, it’s a peaceful place with a beautiful long view of the mountains, hill roads, and buildings. There’s also a rooftop area where you can sit and enjoy the view. Earlier, there was a swing (onchilla), but now it’s not there. Overall, it’s a good place with tasty and money-worthy food, but the construction work is the only thing that disturbs the calm vibe.
Ahmed A — Google review
Last night, I enjoyed dining at Whizz, a gem of a restaurant renowned for its breathtaking rooftop setting. The experience was magical, with the panoramic mountain views providing a spectacular backdrop to an already remarkable evening. As I arrived just before closing time, the attentive staff promptly assisted me in placing my order – a testament to their efficiency and dedication to customer service. I opted for the submarine, which was a delightful choice. The flavours were perfectly balanced, and the presentation was exquisite, enhancing the overall dining experience. The restaurant's ambience, especially under the starlit sky, added an extra layer of allure. It's a fantastic spot for those looking to enjoy a serene evening with a picturesque view. In summary, Whizz offers an unforgettable rooftop dining experience. Its combination of stunning scenery, delectable cuisine, and exceptional service make it a must-visit destination. It is highly recommended for anyone seeking a unique dining adventure.

Slightly Chilled Lounge, Sports Bar & Restaurant, also known as Bamboo Garden restaurant, provides stunning city views from its partially covered inside lounge and outdoor terrace. The terrace is a popular spot during dusk when guests can observe fruit bats and birds returning to their nests. While specializing in Chinese cuisine, the restaurant also offers popular Western dishes like pasta, burgers, sandwiches, and fajitas.
We had wonderful time in here just purely enjoy the amazing food. I missed Chinese food so much in here you can have real authentic food experience in Kandy. Also the location is prefect for sunset and lovely vibe with live music we just had great date night there just look the entire mountain and lake! And we back for food again if you in Kandy you have to come!

went for sunset, stayed for happy hour. good view but unfortunately did not see the sunset as it was cloudy. but the view at night- amazing! servers were very kind! good atmosphere at night when the live music starts. switched to party music a bit later but couldn’t complain when you’re a few drinks in food was really good too. had the nachos and some beef. a good mix of tourists and locals coming in.
Kirsten Q — Google review
I visited Slightly Chilled Lodge in Kandy today with my family for dinner. We tried several dishes including French fries, cashew nuts, chicken fried rice, seafood fried rice, beef fried rice, a sweet and sour beef dish, a sweet and sour chicken dish, tomato and cucumber salad, chicken noodles, a fruit platter, and a few mocktails. The food didn’t taste as I expected. It was okay, but not particularly good, and definitely not memorable for a family dinner. Pork was listed on the menu, but when we requested it, we were told it wasn’t available, which was disappointing. The ambience was fine if you’re there to relax with a beer and enjoy the atmosphere. There was also live music, with a musician playing guitar and singing English songs, which added a nice touch. The lighting was quite low, so the photos I took turned out dark — not really a complaint, more just the mood of the place. On the positive side, they do accept reservations, and when we arrived, our table was already reserved and ready for us. The cost worked out to around 2,700 LKR per person, and I don’t feel it was worth that price for the quality of food we received.
Achitha R — Google review
It is really a nice place, atmosphere and food are amazing! Here you can have an amazing view to the big Budha. I had seafood noodles that was really fresh and tasty and my boyfriend had a burger that also was delicious.🥘🍔 But my favourite thing was the Banana milkshake and the mango Juice, please try it!🥤🍺 Also our bill was a bit expensive because we had many drinks 🤭 but here the prices are honesty and the portions are good. There is a Pool table that is really fun to spend some hours playing!( and is free to play)🥳 Even the owner of the place came to join us! We really appreciate all the kindness from the staff and owner...made us feel very welcoming here in Kandy
Brenda C — Google review
Loved the food! Great spread, good portions, and lovely flavour. We had the chicken fried rice with sweet and sour beef and sizzling cuttlefish. Ordered a Nachos with Dip and loved the entire combo.
Himansa H — Google review
We had an epic time at Slightly Chilled in Kandy! Sunset views are stunning, the beers were ice-cold, and the vibe was perfect for two spice-crazed adventurers. We started with the Sichuan chicken and spring rolls. The staff warned us the chicken was fiery… and of course we said, “Bring it on!” One bite later, our mouths were on fire, but we were impressed. Then the owner overheard our spice obsession and dropped the Taiwanese spicy sauce bomb—our taste buds screamed, sweat poured, tears flowed, but the beers kept us alive. We ended up chatting with the owner about our love for fiery food and how on earth Sri Lanka became the choice and end up being this amazing, trading laughs and borderline dangerous spice challenges. If you want insane views, friendly staff, and food that will literally set your mouth on fire while making you laugh, this is your spot.

What an unbelievable gem tucked in a hilly corner of Kandy! After a trip through Sri Lanka that was outstanding except for the music on offer (Trax in Ahangama being a notable exception), I chanced upon SCL in Kandy. The owner is a passionate DJ who uses a rare ARS rotary mixer and plays some groovy downtempo and house music. The views from this place are great too. The staff were alert throughout and very keen to make sure everything was fine. Big ups!
Hemant K — Google review
If you're going to Kandy, I don't think I could recommend anywhere higher than Slightly Chilled. More than Slightly Chilled beer (excuse the pun) Great Food and host Michael made it special for me with his personalised service. I was lucky to be there on a Saturday with very talented Ranga supplying the tunes. A must go!

Nestled in the heart of Kandy, Cool Corner Fried Ice Cream Parlor is a delightful haven for dessert lovers. This charming little shop, with its cozy four tables and counter, is just a short stroll from the iconic central clock tower. What sets Cool Corner apart is their commitment to crafting ice cream from scratch using fresh, organic ingredients and an exciting liquid nitrogen freezing process that you can watch unfold right before your eyes.
This place in Kandy offers rolled ice cream that is worth the price. The flavors are diverse and the quality is exceptional, making it a delightful treat for any ice cream lover!!!

Found the spot from Trip Advisor and went there cuz of the ratings. It was hard to find the place as the name board was unreadable and washed off. Inside was clean. The service was good. Had the Nutella Rolled Ice-cream and it was nice. If you're going there, make sure you have cash because card payment is not available.

It was a fun outing after a hot afternoon. Loved the fried coconut, and the gentleman who served us was great. Dropping it to 4 stars because at least half the menu items were not available.
David L — Google review
Visited this place again after 2 years. Quality has gone down a bit now, most of the items in the list that we wanted were sold out, and then we ordered a milkshake, choco flash and a green tea ice cream. Milk shake was not that good, the choco flash was more like banana flash. It didn't mention it has banana in it. And then the green tea ice cream tastes nothing like green tea. More like vanilla ice cream.. The flavours on the menu's doesn't add up with the taste of them. And cherry on top of the cake, they don't take card payments. Ice cream in general was good just didn't match up to the flavours it was listed.
POV L — Google review
Amazing ice cream experience! One of the best things in Kandy, no exaggeration! We went there twice in two days, would definitely go again if we were there longer... Every flavour that we tried was really really delicious. I can't pick my favourite.
Eva P — Google review
Amazing experience! I recommend getting the mango. They don't actually fry the ice cream like in Mexico it's more rolled on a freezing surface. Absolutely delicious! At the time of this review for every 100 SLR is 0.57 USD. So for under 3 bucks you can have an awesome dessert! Please come here!!!
Dennis — Google review
I waited almost 6 months to get a chance to try the fried ice cream at this place! It was a worthy wait and an awesome experience to remember the last day of 2018! We tried the Banana Split and the Passion Fruit Ice cream. Both were tasting sooo good! Even the prices were reasonable. There is parking for one vehicle but I managed to find a public parking close by. Most of their ingredients are halaal but for one or two ice creams they add some non halaal products which they are Keen in educating us.

Theva Cuisine, situated in Kandy, is a top-notch dining establishment that offers a diverse menu featuring Sri Lankan, European, and Fusion cuisine. Despite being slightly off the beaten path, it is highly regarded as one of the finest restaurants in the area. The restaurant provides various amenities such as parking, reservations, outdoor seating, and free Wi-Fi.
Our anniversary dinner at Theva Cuisine in Kandy was nothing short of magical. Nestled atop the Hantana hills, this restaurant offers one of the most stunning panoramic views of Kandy. As we sat on the open terrace, the city lights twinkled below, and the cool mountain breeze made the experience even more special. The setting was intimate, serene, and undeniably romantic—exactly what we were hoping for. The food was simply outstanding! Every dish was a beautiful blend of flavors, made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The menu offers a mix of local and international cuisines, but everything we tried had a distinct, wholesome taste. From the perfectly cooked seafood to the deliciously spiced Sri Lankan dishes, every bite was an explosion of flavor. The presentation was elegant, and the portions were just right. It’s clear that the chefs here put a lot of thought and passion into their creations. The service was another highlight. The staff was incredibly attentive and warm, making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. This was more than just a dinner; it was an experience we’ll cherish forever. Theva Cuisine is a place we’d return to in a heartbeat, and we wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Kandy—whether for a romantic dinner, a special celebration, or simply to enjoy great food with a spectacular view.

Reading after the reviews myself & husband choose this place today for lunch.we went there by 2pm. With high expectations We ordered our food & drinks. They serve 2 bread sticks & 3 starter bus with butter on the house...much appreciated 👍. I ordered Thai prawn curry with rice n husband ordered Kung Pao chicken with noodles &for the starter batter fried prawns. What I got was Thai chicken curry. instead of prawns I ate chicken. Before I noticed & realized I poured the curry on the rice.... My bad...😩.. while eating we informed this to a staff who passes by,he then bring the other staff who was took order from us.that person quickly went inside, might be check his order note, but no one apologized regarding the That curry. With4.5/5 goole never expect this kind of blunder. Very disappointed 😡😡😡 Not going to recommend to anyone & we too never going again. For 2 people 2mains,1 starter & 2 cocktails Costs Rs.18000

Friendly staff. We came late for lunch, so the restaurant was quite empty. They switched on the air conditioner for us. Food is tasty, but overpriced. Food was cooked on the spot, so it took about 30mins. Location is good, but not conveniently accessible. We had the chicken briyani, Sri Lankan red chilli fish curry, and traditional mutton curry. Coke zero served was 2 days away from expiring. On a side note, I thought it was very innovative for them to use computer pc fans as ventilators in their bathrooms.

I recently visited Kandy and had both breakfast and lunch from this place, and I must say, I was genuinely impressed. The place is very clean and well-maintained, with an efficient system in place to avoid unnecessary queues, which really saves time. They offer a wide variety of cuisines, so there’s something for everyone. I had the English breakfast in the morning and it was superb. Generous portions and great taste. For lunch, we tried the biryani and the spicy chicken fried rice. Both were absolutely delicious and came in large portions. The beverages were also really good. One of the biggest highlights for me was the pricing. Compared to restaurants in Colombo, the prices here were surprisingly reasonable without compromising on quality. I will definitely be back next time I’m in Kandy.

We had very good meals at the Worldspice. Great selection of food types. The quality is very good and they are fast in service as well. Clean place to wash hands. The system works with a card that you can purchase items UpTo 8,000 LKR per person. You can pay for what you eat during the checkout. Very nice and clean place. Plenty of seating available as well. Enjoy!..

WorldSpice at Kandy City Centre offers a vibrant dining experience with a diverse selection of international cuisines, including Indian, Thai, Chinese, and Italian. The open kitchen concept allows diners to watch their meals being freshly prepared, enhancing the overall experience. The self-service system is efficient, utilizing a card-based payment method that simplifies ordering and checkout. Portions are generous, and dishes like the creamy mushroom spaghetti and coconut & yogurt smoothie are particularly popular. While the food is generally well-received, some patrons have noted inconsistencies in taste and pricing. Overall, WorldSpice provides a convenient and enjoyable option for those looking to sample a variety of global flavors in one location.

A unique dining experience in Kandy where you can choose from a plethora dining options from different countries. Price is somewhat reasonable. Food is good and cooking areas are open and clean. If you are lucky you might be able to get a seat with a view. Overall a nice place to dine. I rank this 9 chicken nuggets out of 12 spaghettis.

Their Thai food used to be quite good, yesterday I ordered their Thai set menu and a Tom Yum soup, they were terrible!! not sure if they have changed chef, flavours are completely off! Hope the management does something about it, because other than that, the place and the service are very good.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Not worth the price Paid Rs.1,500 + tax (around Rs.1,700 total) — absolutely not worth it. The portion size is so small it’s not even enough for one person. Totally disappointed with the value for money. Won’t be ordering again.

Located in the YMCA building, The Soya Centre is a strictly vegetarian restaurant that offers a diverse menu of traditional Sri Lankan street food, all crafted from soya beans. From roti rolls to sandwiches filled with soy sausage, the creative dishes cater to various tastes. Additionally, the restaurant serves soy-based drinks and an array of sweets including their popular soy soft-serve ice cream cones available in flavors like vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate.
Tried the famous soya ice cream for 300/-, and it brought back so many good old memories! If you’re born and raised in Kandy, this place definitely holds a special spot in your heart. That said, soya isn’t for everyone, but personally, I loved it. The place hasn’t changed a bit over the years – same vibe, same staff.. it’s like stepping back in time. If you’re visiting Kandy, you’ve got to check it out! It’s iconic and has a great view of Kotugodella Street. They also serve some soya-based food, but that’s not really my thing. Still, the ice cream alone is worth it!
Sabry R — Google review
The Soy Rotti was flavorful and delicious, the Soy Chinese Rolls were good, and I ended with a Soy Ice Cream that was refreshingly tasty. The prices are also reasonable.
AbdulElah A — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I’ve been eating this soy ice cream since I was a kid nothing about the flavour has changed in 30 years. It’s the same comforting taste I remember. Now, my son loves it too. The only thing that’s different is the price what I used to buy for Rs 20 is now Rs 300. Still worth it, though it’s amazing to keep a piece of childhood alive in every scoop!”
Experience B — Google review
Went because I’d always wanted to go there. We just had a soy rotti, soy cutlet and a soy pattie All 3 were meh. Not exceptional, but good quantity for the price and filling. Then had an ice cream cuz that’s apparently their specialty. It was alright and the amount was huge. But I guess I had unreasonably high expectations for taste Would we come again, yes if in the vicinity. But I won’t go out of my way for the experience again :)

So special to find vegan soft serve ice cream! It’s a little icy compared to what I remember of soft serve, and the flavor is a bit salty (but good!) If you eat milk, it’s probably not an exact replica, but it’s a very tasty cold treat. Also enjoyed the soy ball filled with a well balanced, not too salty savory filling, and a soy bun. Keep up the good work!

The Empire Cafe, a renowned restaurant in Sri Lanka, offers a delightful mix of local and international cuisine at affordable prices. Housed in a beautifully restored colonial building in the heart of Kandy, this charming eatery exudes old-world charm and provides a cozy atmosphere for diners. With courteous staff and excellent service, it's known for its value for money. The cafe is located near the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and boasts trendy retro decor that adds to its appeal.
Dine in feel like a having meal with old proud governors, because of the colonial structure and also because of the foods are in great quality, tasty and balanced well. Very unique flavors and you can find local, Indian, Chinese and western foods here. My baby boys were so happy with their shrimp burger(that I never found in anywhere) Mac & Cheese. We tried curry noodles, kottu and rice and curry unique to Sri Lanka. Very tasty. Nice homemade Ice cream flavors together make refreshed the hottest day I faced in Sri Lanka so far. Also nice juices with orange color coconuts.
Mathivathani — Google review
Nice location but honestly the empire breakfast I received was 100% not worth the 2800 rupees they charge. Can get better and cheaper in central London and that says a lot. Beans were cold and tiniest portion of spinach/mushrooms. Also the “sausage” was just a hotdog.

We had dinner and breakfast here during our time in Kandy and it was good. A great thali one evening and a nice breakfast. Helpful service too and conveniently located near the lake.

Arrived here after visiting the tooth Relic Temple as it's situated right next to it. 1450 for rice and curry is expected for tourist price and tasted really good. Food arrived quickly. However, kotthu didn't taste very nice and we ordered some cokes that didn't taste nice nor like the branded Coca colas. Drinks are of high price.

Bad Experience with the Chicken Submarine Today I visited Global Kitchen in Kandy. While the service was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. I was very disappointed with the food. I ordered a chicken submarine, but it barely had any chicken in it, it was mostly filled with carrots. On top of that, it had a strange sweet taste, which made it even worse. Honestly, this is the worst submarine I’ve ever had. I can’t comment on the rest of the menu, but based on this experience, I won’t be ordering that again.

Lasagna comes up in a hot pot and looks fabulous. It got 10/10 and how to say no to this. Anytime favorite lasagna for me. And we got the rice is so nize and chicken was so tender and it got 9/10. One my friend got rice and curry. It was very tasty and colurfull.so worth for the price. Highly recommended place to have lunch as a group or couple.

The place has a good vibe and the food is tasty, but it gets way too crowded most of the time. Staff seems overwhelmed because of the rush, so service can be a bit slow. Not ideal for small birthday celebrations or private moments since it's hard to avoid the crowd. Still, it’s a decent spot for a casual hangout with friends.

Visitng the cafe after few years. The menu is updated and I am in love with the new menu. Really Happy they introduced the combo meals of which we ordered the diced chicken meal. It was really an amazing dish. However I must say that the sauce in the chicken was too much tangy and chemically maybe due to too much tomato sauce. The chicken pieces itself tasted really nice and the bellpepper peices complemented it really well. Its just that the sauce is off. Other components were really good. Salad, Bok Choy and Rice complemented well with each other. We also ordered the chocolate bubble tea. The drink tasted amazing but the tapioca pearls were really dissapointing. We found like 10 pearls that are not chewy and disentigrate which is disgusting. Anyway the place is great and there are lots of options to choose from, if we did not order the bubble tea, we would have given a better rating. Kudos to the new changes and hope that you will continue to be the place we wanna visit again and again

The place was quite crowded, and we had to wait a long time to get a table, a sign of its popularity! Despite the wait, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience pleasant. We ordered Seafood Cheese Koththu and Nasi Goreng, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich, the portions generous, and everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. Overall, it was worth the wait. The food quality and reasonable prices make this restaurant a great spot to enjoy a satisfying meal. I’d definitely visit again!

This place is trurly a vibe. You can choose from wide range of various meals from local to western, we ended up ordering a chicken and a beef burger with amazing fries. Also, you get free water bottle automatically when you order something. Although we came here during peak hours and the Kandy Esala, the place wasn't too crowded. After all it was super chill and definitely worth a visit.
Honza P — Google review
I ordered nuggets (1 plate), avocado, apple juice, cheese kottu, and a brownie with ice cream. However, you missed serving the brownie but still added it to the bill. The food was tasty, and I asked the waiter to make the kottu extra spicy, but it wasn’t. The interior design was amazing, but the waiters’ behavior was very disappointing. Once we place our order, please give customers some privacy — it feels like the staff are constantly watching. There are about 5 or 6 CCTV cameras already, so there’s no need for that kind of behavior. Please take this feedback seriously and improve your service

Vito Wood Fired Pizza, located at No. 56 Sarankara Road in Kandy, Sri Lanka, is a must-visit for pizza enthusiasts. Despite being an unexpected find in Sri Lanka, this restaurant has garnered rave reviews and offers a delightful view of Kandy Lake from many of its tables. The inviting aroma of wood-fired goodness sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience.
Located just few meters from the Kandy lake round. Parking was limited as I could see but the experience was well worth it. Restaurant is on the 3rd floor and has a nice view of the Kandy city. One of the best pizzas I have tasted in Sri Lanka. Beverages were great too. Service was excellent, staff was very helpful and friendly. Despite the fact that it was crowded, we received our order fairly quickly.

Vito Wood Fired Pizza is a true standout! The pizzas come out of the traditional wood-fired oven with a wonderful smoky aroma and flavor. The crust is perfectly crisp on the outside yet soft and chewy inside, topped generously with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Every slice is a delight. The pricing is very reasonable, making the quality and experience excellent value. If you’re after an authentic pizza experience with a lively atmosphere and friendly service, Vito’s is not to be missed. Highly recommended!

Really great pizza, friendly service and lightning fast with the food coming out! We ordered 2 x large half and half pizzas with no extra surcharge and liked it so much that we ordered another medium. Great view! Worth the 3 flights of stairs up

I had a very disappointing experience. The food I ordered was not worth the price at all – the presentation was poor and not appealing. At around 9.30 pm, I was told that the kitchen was already closed, which was very inconvenient. On top of that, I ordered a Coca-Cola and what was served in the glass didn’t even taste like Coke – it was either mixed with water or completely flat. Honestly, the overall experience was very unpleasant.

I recently visited Vito Woodfired Pizza in Kandy, and it was an absolute delight. The pesto pizza was one of the best I’ve ever had, perfectly baked with a rich, aromatic flavor. The chicken pizza was equally impressive, bursting with taste, and the penne pasta dish was creamy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. A must-visit for pizza and pasta lovers!

Came here for lunch from Kandy viewpoint. Walk past Amanda guest inn for 50m, there is a staircase leading down to the street where the restaurant is located. Do not follow Google map as it will lead you to go a big detour. Prices are very reasonable. Had a medium teriyaki chicken pizza which is just nice for 1. Mix of locals and tourists here. Was assigned the outdoor area which was easy, breezy beautiful lol and offers partial view of the lake. Very calm, peaceful and away from the city.

Vito Wood Pizza is a hidden gem! Their wood-fired pizzas are absolutely delicious – crispy base, fresh toppings, and great flavor. It’s located just below Vibe Villa, which makes it super convenient for guests staying there. Parking is limited but manageable. There’s just enough space for a few vehicles right in front of the building, though the road is a bit narrow and on a slope. If you’re coming by car or van, be prepared for a tight fit, but it’s doable. All in all, a great spot for a tasty meal in a cozy setting. Definitely worth a visit!

Great experience at Licensed to Grill by DI’s Cafe. The beef burger was really tasty, and the Nelly Frizz was super refreshing. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed our meal at Licensed to Grill! The food was absolutely delicious and the flavors were spot on. The rib eye steak was cooked to perfection — tender, juicy, and full of flavor with that perfect char on the outside. The chicken burger was another winner — super juicy, well-seasoned, and definitely not dry like most places. The sides were fresh and perfectly done, and the portions were generous. The service was friendly and attentive, and the overall atmosphere made for a really pleasant dining experience. Licensed to Grill by DI's in Lewella, Kandy, is a hidden gem for food lovers seeking a calm and relaxing dining experience. The menu, though compact, offers a variety of delicious options. A standout dessert item is their Cookie Cake, which pairs perfectly with their range of beverages. Speaking of drinks, their Mojito comes highly recommended—refreshing and perfectly balanced. We tried the Rib Eye Steak and the Grilled Chicken Burger, both of which were incredibly tasty. The dishes were freshly made, which meant we waited about 20 minutes for our food, but it was well worth it. The freshness and quality of the food more than made up for the wait. Parking is available for one car directly at the venue, but you can also park at the nearby Cargills parking area and walk over. The ambiance is peaceful, making it an excellent spot to enjoy a meal or even spend some time unwinding. While the food and service were exceptional, we feel they could enhance their menu by introducing a mixed platter option and adding hot beverages to complement the cozy café-like atmosphere. The staff were very welcoming and added to the overall pleasant experience. If you're in Lewella, Kandy, and looking for a quality dining spot, Licensed to Grill by DI's is a must-visit!

It was good to have a break from the lovely Sri Lankan food, just for one evening! The beef burger was meaty and juicy and perfectly cooked, and my husband enjoyed his chicken with cheese! It would have been good for the chicken dish to have had a garnish or side salad, as it looked a little bland. But the taste was good. The service was excellent and everything served with a big smile.

Located in the house of the restaurant owner, it’s a very cozy place. Very friendly and modest guy and good food. We had the rib eye and the golden core delight (juicy air fried chicken) all of that was true, the only chicken in Sri Lanka we had that was really juicy. The rib eye was juicy and perfect on taste. Small menu but if everything is good, why expand? A little pricey compared to others but it’s worth it for sure! Recommend if you want a nice piece of meat!

1. Overpriced 2. Waiters will confuse you to order more! 3. Food is plain average and we didnt see the reason for this hyped place. Nothing mention worthy other than the good view of the Kandy Lake. We didnt get any 5 star dining experience but we paid LKR 3400 for a decent Tom Yum Soup.

Food is sadly below average, rather I would say terrible. Only good thing are the views and service. Staff is really humble and courteous. And that is then only thing that saves the grace. I ordered Italian dish and black coffee. I've had better coffee at road side tea room in srilanka. Italian food- I bet I can cook better with one hand tied and with terrible hangover headache.

Amazing staff. We were out of season so it was quiet but they had a band playing, which added to the atmosphere. The choice of food is very varied. You could travel around the globe on the menu, and as such, I think the quality suffers, but the views from here across Kandy are worth the mediocre food.

Disgusting food. Their overpriced (12000 LKR) grill platter is drowned in industrial BBQ sauce which is really disgusting and difficult to eat. Strongly don't recommend eating there
Romain L — Google review
This roof top location is the only positive, we as a group of four can find. Food was poor standard and undefined. Deffintely priced for the tourist but food was flavourless. I had a plate full of chips and rice, both cold, with fish somewhere in between. Having told the waiter they were cold he went to get more. After eating the fish, because I was hungry, he eventually brought the warm food and wanted to put the fresh chips and rice on top of the cold. With prices geared at tourists the food quality and service needs to be much much better. My friends had King prawns which were over cooked and sauces were bland. Satay beef Deffintely lacked any satay.!!!!. Would not recommend and advised our tour guide not to recommend.

Natural Coffee is a must-visit spot for relaxation and rejuvenation after immersing yourself in the wonders of Kandy city and its temples. This cafe stands out as the first in Kandy to exclusively serve fair trade coffee sourced from Sri Lanka. Located near the Temple of the Tooth, Natural Coffee also offers a delectable assortment of sandwiches, toast, cakes, pastries, Belgian waffles, and ice cream.
We have been frequent visitors to this café for many years. It serves unique Sri Lankan coffee and authentic Japanese matcha tea, and has a cosy atmosphere and a rich coffee and tea history. The place is not usually crowded, so you can relax and have a discussion. As we are vegetarians, the Tempura Udon, Azuki and Fruit Pancakes are our go-to options. We also usually take away some Almond Florentines. It's a rare place where you can buy real Sri Lankan coffee beans or powder and Japanese matcha tea to enjoy at home.

My recent visit to Natural Coffee was quite disappointing. The service was slow, with staff taking an inordinate amount of time to address our needs, including not offering water until we asked. Additionally, the cleanliness was lacking plates were not properly cleaned. The chopsticks were reused and not clean. Even though we felt disgusted we had to try them coz it was our first time that we try those food. And also coz of the price range. These factors combined to create a frustrating dining experience. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant based on my visit.

I visited Cafe Natural in Kandy yesterday, and it was a complete disappointment. The coffee was absolutely terrible—one of the worst I’ve ever had. The place was not clean at all, making it an unpleasant environment to sit in. The service was just as bad. I ordered an almond cake, but it was as hard as a rock—completely inedible. When I asked for water, they did provide it, but by then, my experience was already ruined. Overall, I would never recommend this place to anyone. Definitely not worth the visit!

The coffee and desserts here are really good. The last time we visited, we tried the cheesy ramen, and it was extremely salty, but other than that, everything else was enjoyable.

I recently ordered from Natural Coffee, and here’s what I got. Katsu Don – 1900 LKR Tuna and Corn Sushi (7 pieces) – 1900 LKR 3 Onigiri/Rice Balls – 400 LKR each Katsu Don At 1900 LKR, the portion was very small—only about 3/4 of a small cup. The taste was disappointing, lacking the authentic Japanese flavors you’d expect. Given the portion size and quality, it wasn’t worth the price. Tuna and Corn Sushi This was the most disappointing dish. Although I was assured the tuna would be raw, it arrived cooked—and in a very small amount. Most of the roll was filled with corn and cucumber (which wasn’t even listed on the menu). It felt like cucumber was used to stretch the filling and reduce the amount of tuna. The wasabi provided was tiny and didn’t taste or look authentic. At 1900 LKR, this sushi was a letdown. Onigiri/Rice Balls These were far from traditional onigiri. Made with brown sticky rice, they were flat instead of the usual triangular shape. The menu said they were chicken-filled, but I barely found any chicken. At 400 LKR each, they were more like plain rice patties. Summary While the prices seem reasonable, the small portions and lack of quality make this a poor choice. The food doesn’t deliver on taste or authenticity, leaving you disappointed.
Shashika V — Google review
Known for its Asian fusion offerings spanning Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and Singaporean cuisines. Despite the establishment's reputation for coffee and noodles, the overall culinary experience fell short of expectations, with the food registering as only average. The dishes failed to impress, and the subpar service further detracted from the dining atmosphere. While the menu showcased a diverse array of Asian flavors, the execution and delivery of dishes, coupled with lackluster service, resulted in a less-than-satisfactory dining experience.

A great place for digital nomads 👨‍💻👩‍💻🧑🏻‍💻 or anyone who wants a peaceful quiet place to get a quick hour of work done when visiting Kandy. 🤩👍 what’s more could we ask for when the place serves one of the best cups of coffee ☕️ in town 😍!!! Love the aromatic and slightly acidic roast 🫘☕️, a uniquely Sri Lankan blend. The staff is very friendly and kind and will do their best to accommodate your needs. 🤩👏👏👏 kudos to the team and well done! Love their waffles 🧇 too, which are freshly made upon order. Didn’t mind the time since I was working away quietly while the Kandy city was buzzing around me. A peaceful place amidst the rush in town. Highly recommended and I will be visiting again for sure!

"This coffee shop is a wonderful find! The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it a great spot to relax or get some work done. The staff is welcoming and always ready with a smile. The coffee is exceptional—rich, smooth, and expertly brewed. They offer a great selection of both classic and unique drinks, and their pastries are fresh and tasty. Whether you're in for a quick coffee or a leisurely visit, this place never disappoints. Highly recommend!"

Buono is a charming coffee bar tucked away on the first floor of a nondescript building in the heart of Kandy. It's a hidden gem that offers delicious coffee, refreshing lemonades, and delectable avocado toast. Whether you're looking to escape the city bustle or enjoy an authentic breakfast near Kandy Train Station, Buono is the place to be. With its European-style food and cash-only policy, it's perfect for those seeking a budget-friendly yet delightful dining experience.
This place was so nice and cozy. I went here with my friends and we really loved their food. Very delicious. Mocktails and juices were also very good. Place was small but lovely. Chef and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

A small but charming spot in Kandy! Food tastes great, and the place has a cozy vibe. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but overall a pleasant experience. Would be even better if they add more veg options.
Sajani — Google review
The food is delicious, with plenty of local specialties. The passion fruit iced tea is better than in other places in Kandy! The staff is extremely friendly, and the meals are prepared relatively quickly.

Buono was one of the best cafés I went to in Kandy. The calm and simple design makes you feel at ease as soon as you walk in. The white walls, warm lighting, and soft background music make it the perfect place to relax and enjoy your coffee. It feels both modern and cozy, which is a nice change from the busy streets outside. The drinks are really the best part here. The coffee I tried all had a rich smell, a smooth texture, and was made with care. The Coconut Coffee was my favorite. It was creamy, smelled great, and had the perfect mix of coconut sweetness and strong espresso. It's cool and different, which is great for Kandy's tropical weather. You have to try the iced version! The desserts and light snacks are also good and go well with the drinks. Everything they serve tastes fresh. The upstairs area is quiet and peaceful, making it a great place to read, talk, or work. The staff is nice and helpful, but the café can get busy, so service can be slow at times. The staff is friendly and really cares about how you feel, which makes the place feel warm. In general, Buono is a great place to get a good cup of coffee, relax, and unwind. If you love good coffee and are in Kandy, don't miss their famous coconut coffee. It could become your new favorite!

Coming from the UK, the prices are certainly lower and more worthwhile, with delicious pizza. However, portions are slightly smaller than in the UK (still plentiful). Additionally, service was very slow (despite a 7.5% service charge), so if you are in a hurry that is something to consider. Overall, still a nice place to go with good food.

I don’t want to comment on the food since most people already know about it and the quality for themselves. What I do want to mention is the excellent service we received. I personally wanted to thank the waiter who had our table. I think his name was Mr. Chandana. He was extremely helpful and attentive throughout our visit. He made sure we had everything we needed and was very polite and professional. It is rare to come across staff who genuinely care about making your experience pleasant, and he did exactly that. Even though I’m not commenting on the food, the service alone made our visit memorable. It’s people like him who make a place stand out and give customers a reason to come back. I really appreciate his effort and dedication.

Soul Food, located in Kandy, is a popular hipster cafe known for its fresh and delicious offerings. The carefully selected ingredients result in amazing dishes. Visitors rave about the vegan-friendly juices and wraps. While the wait time for food can be a bit long, the healthy and tasty meals make it worth it. The owner, Chamara, takes great care in selecting fresh ingredients to prepare each dish with love and attention to detail. One recommended dish is the noodle dish with eggplant.
I searched a lot on the web for a good vegan place in Kandy and the promising reviews forced me to make a stop here. Small place with a few tables inside and outside but very colourful. The menu is simple and we ordered both the bowls along with pineapple juice and avacado mousse. We were stunned by the serving size and the freshness of everything. It was beyond perfect. Also well presented and filling. The juice was yum. Fresh pineapples with pulp cannot go wrong. The discovery for me was the avacado mousse. Couldn't taste the fruit and the chocolate was delightful. Will recommend this to all travellers.

Unexpected little gem of a restaurant. It was recommended to us by someone we met at our hotel. It’s a very small shack tucked away a little off the beaten track. Downstairs was full so we sat upstairs on low stools. The room was somewhat shabby and sparse. However, we were made very welcome by the staff. The menu is small, but interesting veggie/vegan fare. We chose the two ‘bowl’ dishes along with fruit juices. Our food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Both my wife and I savoured every mouthful. The serving was filling, but so tasty that I could definitely have eaten more. The food is 100% value for money. Overall, a really good place to grab a quick and tasty bite.

This is a hidden gem in Kandy which is great place for vegan food. The approach road is a bit dark at night but it is a safe place. Staff is very attentive. There is outdoor seating, small indoors and then small place upstairs with lots of books, games and low seating. The food is amazing and portion size is generous. We had the noodle salad with tofu but what stood out was the jackfruit burger with sweet potato fries. All in all an excellent place for quiet evening meal! 10% service charge is added to the bill.

We stumbled upon this gem while looking for a place for dinner in Kandy and it was such a great find! Amazing mouthwatering vegan and vegetarian dishes and desserts at very affordable prices. After a tiring day we went to have dinner & there are nice vegetarian & vegan options. We just ordered a pumpkin soup & a jackfruit burger. That’s the first time I ever had a jackfruit burger and it was delicious. It comes with some fried sweet potatoes to dip and eat with some ketchup. I do recommend this place to vegetarian & vegan people. If you visit kandy do not miss this place!

Great, tiny but very tasty place on the Kandy gastro vege map! Perfect jackfruit wraps and burgers served with sweet potato fries. If you are fed up with traditional lankian food come and try something different, but still keeping the local products taste and quality. Fresh vegetable and fruit meals served in a nice form in an authentic atmosphere of a place located in the heart of Kandy city.

The staff were friendly and informative, but the prices were a little high considering what you get. The atmosphere wasn't very cozy. You get more for your money elsewhere. Maybe we missed or didn't order the great food others are talking abouty although it was really okay. It's just the price and atmosphere.

We went there only for dinner just because it was accessible due to the festival in the city centre (it was so crowded in the city centre that we were unable to visit a restaurant there). I ordered chicken kottu and it was delicious. Kottu is a popular Sri Lankan street food consisting of chopped roti, vegetables and meat, and spices, stir fried on a hot griddle. The staff gave us a warm welcome. Food was freshly prepared so it took them some time to cook. You can add spice to the dish yourself. Not a luxurious restaurant but food was tasty. If you enjoy a quiet, not expensive but good quality meal, here is the place.

Tried to order a black coffee with ice and they gave me a hot coffee. I said I ordered an iced coffee so they remade it. And they came out with an ice coffee milkshake instead. I was so confused but the owner blaming me and saying “it’s your fault”. And they claimed they gave me hot coffee with ice and sugar earlier. But I didn’t see the ice and the waiter just send it back immediately without saying anything. How hard was it to get such a simple order right. It was ok when they gave me the wrong order it’s the blaming that made me lose it all. Not recommended for sure.

Restaurant
Dinemore in Kandy is a well-known Halal-certified fast food chain with a wide range of options. While they are famous for their subs, burgers, and sandwiches, their Indian menu is also worth trying. It includes dishes like prawn masala, chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, and naan. The restaurant first opened in 1998 with just seven employees.
One of the most classic Food Restaurants. This place offers Submarines 🍔, Club Sandwiches 🥪, Drinks 🥤, etc. The prices are a bit too high 💸. but it's still worth it. I would recommend getting Submarines with the mango lassi 🥭 but that's just my personal recommendation. It does cost about Rs.2,000 but it can fully fill up a person,so it's kinda mid (I'm not gonna tell good bcs of price). Another slight downfall is that with only about 3 more families it took about 10 minutes to get our order + 20 minutes to recieve our food ⏱️. But out of those the food is Delicious 🍔😋.

We went to this restaurant expecting a good dining experience but unfortunately, it was very disappointing, we waited for about 30-35 minutes, ordered 5 - 6 dishes Nasi Goreng, Biryani, Submarine and Falooda, Mojito, Fried Rice The Nasi and Biryani, Falooda were not up to standard. Below average. The chicken fried rice tasted so weird that we couldn't eat it. All the dishes and service were not impressed.
Akramamani A — Google review
I visited Dinamore Kandy last Thursday and had a very disappointing experience. I had to wait around 15 minutes just to give my order. No one came to the table, even after I asked the security guard to send someone. Finally, I had to call a steward myself, and he sent another person. I ordered a Coca-Cola and a crispy chicken submarine. I wanted to order a fresh juice too, but I didn’t, because I felt it would take forever to arrive. After giving my order, I waited more than 15 minutes again. Finally, I went to the reception to remind them, and only then was my food sent to the table. The submarine was cold, clearly left waiting in the kitchen without being served. The funniest part is—when it was time to pay, suddenly three people surrounded me expecting a tip. I asked them to call the person who actually served me, but they pointed to the one who brought the bill. I eventually found the young boy who served my order and gave him a small tip directly. The food was just okay, but not as tasty as it used to be. Overall, poor service and a disappointing experience.

We first ordered nasi goreng, but when we tried it, the rice had a bad smell. We then asked for fried rice instead, but it was also terrible. The only thing we ordered that was actually good was the Submarine Beef Bun.
Ahamed A — Google review
This place has the best submarines, hands down. I have never ordered anything else, so I cannot really comment on the rest of the menu. The submarines are always fresh, tasty, and filling. The portion size is great, so even if you are really hungry, one submarine is usually enough. Every time I eat here, I know I’m getting a really good sandwich. The bread is soft, the fillings are generous, and the flavors are always on point. If you love submarines, this is definitely the place to go. I always leave satisfied and looking forward to my next visit.

⭐ 1/5 — Worst Experience in Kandy Waited nearly an hour only to get cold, tasteless food. Butter chicken, naan, Mongolian rice — all served cold. Submarine wasn’t worth the money either. This place used to be good years ago, but now it’s completely gone downhill. The only decent thing was the polite staff. Definitely not recommended.

Just thought I'd share an opportunity with you! I recently visited KANDY, Sri Lanka and was surprised that there's no proper tea gift centre in the heart of the city. I stumbled upon Mlesna Tea Center, a small hidden gem near the town. I think they have huge potential and would thrive if they moved to the KCC, where they could tap into the large tourist traffic. With Delma tea not having a presence in KANDY, I think this could be a great opportunity for them to build a monopoly and create a world-class tea experience. Just a thought!

Are you looking for chill conversations over tea in the heart of the Kandy city? This the place to be! It has both the tea store and an area where you can have tea with snacks. The interior has yellowish warm dim lights and a neat looking wood finished walls. The tea is on point and there’s a range of snacks to be selected. We ordered an eclair and a chocolate cake. It came with a fresh tea leaf on the top. The waiter even made us the tea on the table, and was very polite. My only suggestion for the place is to have some music to go with the atmosphere and the food. Supiriiii!

If you're looking for a serene and peaceful spot to enjoy a delightful cup of tea, I highly recommend this place. The ambiance is incredibly calming, making it the perfect place to unwind and relax. Their menu offers a great variety of options, and everything I've tried has been incredibly delicious. Whether you're looking to catch up with friends or simply enjoy some alone time, this place is the perfect choice. So if you're in the area, make sure to stop by and experience it for yourself!

Nestled in the heart of Kandy, Oak Ray Heritage Hotel is a delightful retreat that perfectly blends comfort with stunning views. Guests have praised the hotel for its immaculate rooms and thoughtful touches, such as beautiful bed decorations for special occasions. The hotel's prime location offers breathtaking vistas of Kandy Lake and the iconic Temple of the Tooth, just a short stroll away. Visitors can enjoy spacious accommodations equipped with modern amenities, ensuring a relaxing stay. The attentive staff, including notable mentions like Mr.
I had the pleasure of staying at Oak Ray Heritage and I must say it was a truly delightful experience from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us warmly with genuine smiles and efficient service. The check-in process was smooth, and we were guided to a beautifully kept room that was both elegant and comfortable. The room was spotless, spacious, and thoughtfully designed with modern amenities. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the large windows offered a stunning view of the surrounding scenery. Housekeeping maintained everything impeccably throughout our stay. One of the highlights was the delicious food served at the hotel restaurant. Each meal was freshly prepared, well-presented, and full of flavor — a perfect combination of local and international cuisine. The facilities were top-notch — especially the swimming pool, which was clean, serene, and perfect for relaxation. The peaceful ambiance around the hotel added a lot to our overall comfort. What truly stood out, however, was the hospitality. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome and well taken care of. Their professionalism and friendliness made our stay memorable.

Terrible experience! Sugary welcome drink with awful taste, double deluxe room was just twin beds pushed together. Complimentary birthday cake was inedible. No breakfast buffet as promised, and very limited food options. Clean rooms but charged extra for water bottles. No bellboys, no warm welcome, and poor customer service overall. Definitely not worth the stay!

I had a truly memorable experience at Oak Ray Heritage Hotel in Kandy. The service was excellent and the management was very professional and accommodating. I hosted a special evening event there, and everything was arranged perfectly. The view from the hotel is absolutely stunning—especially at night, creating a magical atmosphere for any gathering. Highly recommend this place for both relaxing stays and private functions. Thank you to the entire team for making it such a wonderful experience!

Yesterday and the day before, I stayed at a hotel in Kandy called Oak Ray Heritage. From the very beginning, a person named Mr. Danushka guided me — he was superb. He gave me exactly the type of room I wanted, one with a nice view, and kept it on hold for me. They provide 24-hour customer service and treat customers with great respect. There were absolutely no shortcomings — everything from a toothbrush to other necessities was supplied without any issue. The staff were also extremely friendly. It’s a place where anyone can stay alone without any fear. I too stayed without fear as a solo traveler, and it’s also a place where even a girl traveling alone can stay safely.

I attended my friend’s wedding at Orkray Heritage Hotel today, and it was a terrible experience. The wedding was scheduled to start at 9.00 AM. By 10.45 AM, the venue was still not ready. The reception area was incomplete, tables were not set up, and it was clear that nothing was prepared properly. The hotel staff were completely unorganized and unprofessional. No one took responsibility for the delays or the mess — they simply ignored the situation. Very bad hotel. Poor hotel. Zero management. No one should ever choose this place for a wedding. Do not trust them with your special day. This kind of careless service is unacceptable for any event — especially a wedding. I strongly do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

*Review of Oak Ray Heritage Hotel: A Wedding Ruined by Poor Management My friend’s wedding at Oak Ray Heritage Hotel was an absolute disaster, and the hotel’s lack of responsibility and professionalism was shocking. From poor timing to zero accountability, they turned what should have been a joyous celebration into a stressful nightmare. 1. Terrible Timing & Disorganization The event was severely delayed due to the hotel’s mismanagement. The staff failed to coordinate properly, leaving the wedding party and guests waiting unnecessarily. Key moments, like the tea table, were thrown off schedule, making the entire event feel chaotic. 2. No Responsibility or Assistance Instead of stepping up to fix their mistakes, the hotel staff were indifferent. The bride’s sister had to sweep the floor herself because the venue was not properly cleaned, and guests were forced to move tables due to poor setup. It’s unbelievable that a supposedly professional hotel left guests to handle basic arrangements. 3. Unacceptable Service for a Wedding A wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and Oak Ray Heritage Hotel completely failed in delivering even the most basic standards of service. The lack of attention, poor coordination, and refusal to take accountability show a severe lack of professionalism. Avoid for Weddings! If you’re planning a wedding or any important event, do not trust Oak Ray Heritage Hotel. Their incompetence and refusal to take responsibility ruined my friend’s special day. Save yourself the stress and choose a venue that actually cares about its guests. Would not recommend to anyone.

Utterly Disappointing - Ruined My friend Wedding Day ★☆☆☆☆ (1 Star) Oak Ray Heritage completely failed us as a wedding venue. Their inability to manage timing and total lack of professionalism turned what should have been the best day of there lives into a stressful, chaotic nightmare. Time Management Was Disastrous: - The ceremony started over 45 minutes late because staff were unprepared and disorganized. - We witnessed staff laughing behind the curtains when bride's elder sister sweeping floor for them. There wedding day was irreplaceable, and Oak Ray Heritage ruined it through sheer incompetence. They ignored schedule, provided zero leadership, and showed no regard for there investment or emotions. Do not risk your special day here. Strongly advise looking elsewhere.

This hidden gem features a charming café where visitors can savor authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, including delightful rice and curry dishes. The café not only serves delicious meals but also offers a selection of local handmade products crafted by independent women artisans. During my visit, I enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast of hoppers and coconut roti while sipping on refreshing lime juice.
A lovely place that sells all handmade goods by independent craftswomen. Also had the breakfast here and it was delicious - hoppers and coconut roti were amazing! Great place providing people with disabilities and entrepreneurial women opportunities for work!

If you're in Kandy and craving some delicious fried chicken, look no further than KFC! This popular restaurant chain is renowned for its iconic buckets of crispy, crunchy chicken that never disappoint. Located on Dalada Veediya, right across from the Bake House, KFC offers a convenient spot to grab a quick bite. The nearby Kandy City Centre adds to the experience with its array of dining options like Burger King and various dessert shops.
KFC Kandy is one of the best places to grab a quick and satisfying meal in the city. The food quality is consistently great , the chicken is always hot, crispy, and packed with flavor. Whether it’s their signature Zinger burger, crispy fries, or the classic bucket meals, everything hits the spot every time. The branch is clean, well-maintained, and has a comfortable dining area. It’s a great place to chill with friends or enjoy a meal with family. The staff are friendly, polite, and provide fast service even during busy hours. What I love most is the consistency ,you know exactly what you’re getting, and it never fails to deliver. Perfect for a quick lunch, dinner, or even a late-night craving. Highly recommend if you’re in Kandy and looking for something tasty and satisfying -Thakshika Thayalan

Extremely Disappointed with the Service We visited your restaurant with kids and were shocked by the lack of basic hygiene and customer service. Despite requesting multiple times to have our table cleaned, no one attended to us for over 30 minutes. Eventually, we had to clean the table ourselves using tissues just so our children could eat. Out of courtesy, we didn’t throw the mess into the dustbin ourselves—hoping it would prompt your staff to take responsibility and not repeat this neglect with the next customer. Sadly, this experience left us very disappointed. Cleanliness and attentiveness should never be optional in a dining establishment.
Mohamed R — Google review
KFC on Sri Dalada Veediya in Kandy offers a familiar fast-food experience with some notable strengths and areas for improvement. 🍗 Food Quality The menu features the classic KFC offerings—crispy fried chicken, burgers, and combo meals. The chicken maintains the brand’s signature taste, and the food is Halal-certified, catering to a broad range of dietary preferences. However, some patrons have noted that the food can be overly oily, and certain items may not meet the standard expectations of international visitors . 🧑‍🍳 Service Service experiences here are mixed. While some customers report prompt and efficient service, others have encountered issues such as inattentive staff and delays in order processing . The inconsistency in service quality suggests room for improvement in staff training and customer engagement. 🧼 Cleanliness & Ambience The restaurant’s cleanliness has been a point of concern for some visitors. Reports indicate that the dining area can be overcrowded and may lack adequate maintenance during peak hours . Enhancing cleanliness standards could significantly improve the dining experience. 📍 Location Situated in the heart of Kandy, this KFC outlet is conveniently located near major landmarks like the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and the Kandy City Centre shopping mall. Its central location makes it an accessible option for both locals and tourists seeking a quick meal . ⸻ ✅ Pros • Central and accessible location • Halal-certified menu • Consistent KFC flavor profile ❌ Cons • Inconsistent service quality • Cleanliness issues during busy periods • Food may be overly greasy for some tastes ⸻ In summary, KFC on Sri Dalada Veediya serves as a convenient spot for those craving familiar fast food in Kandy. While it delivers on taste and location, attention to service and cleanliness could enhance the overall customer experience.
DaRcAssan Z — Google review
Visited the outlet after a while to grab a snack. Nice location and atmosphere. But that's it. Had to wait for unacceptable time period to grab a small snack. Lady at the counter informed their kitchen 3 time to prepare it but it took so long. Also the taste is not as it was. Also there is another outlet for Ice creams and milk shakes at the same premises (Realized it later after placing the order) which is not a part of the KFC but same staff has been deployed. They don't accept card payments (Cash only) that also brought to notice at the point of payment even after they have made the order. Very unprofessional and and unacceptable level of service. Also what they provide is different to the products they are showcasing on the screen.
Chamila W — Google review
KFC Kandy has a very friendly and welcoming staff, which makes the experience pleasant. However, the outlet is located upstairs in a building, so it may not be the most convenient for everyone to access.
Deshani B — Google review
Very disappointed with my recent experience at this KFC outlet. There was a hair on the bottom bun of the burger, which was extremely unhygienic and unacceptable. Also, the burger looked nothing like the image shown on the ordering board it was poorly assembled and unappetizing. Overall, it was a very unpleasant visit.
Kaveesha G — Google review
I came to Kandy KFC on a Saturday. There were decent crowd in the stall waiting in the queue. 2 counters were closed, only one counter was working. In terms of food, no taste at all. We ordered 3 regular Biriyani and 3 zinger burgers. Biriyani was like Kiri bath. Zinger burger was cool and no taste at all. Just waste of money. Only good one to say is the atmosphere. Nice view in the window side. But compared to other places around the city is super cool. Not recommended to anyone.
Azam S — Google review
They have parking outside, but it's only free for 30 minutes. (It took 1 and a half hours for me to dine in.) Then its charge rate is high. It’s not fair and not recommended to park on the premises. Other than that, it's similar to other outlets.

Sri Lankan restaurant
Hela Bojun Hala, also known as Sampradayika Deshiya Ahara, is a government-run chain of eateries found throughout Sri Lanka. The concept behind these establishments is to empower local women to cook and sell traditional Sri Lankan street food on-site. This initiative not only allows visitors to savor a variety of Sri Lankan delicacies but also supports the women in the community. Dining at Hela Bojun involves eating with your hands, adding to its authentic charm.
Hela Bojun Hala is an absolute gem and a must-visit spot if you want to experience authentic Sri Lankan flavors at their best! From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere, and the aroma of freshly cooked dishes instantly makes your mouth water. The variety of traditional Sri Lankan food on offer is truly impressive. We tried a mix of hoppers, string hoppers, roti, coconut sambol, and kottu — every bite was delicious, bursting with flavor, and clearly made with care. The freshness of the ingredients and the authenticity of the recipes make it a standout experience compared to many other tourist-focused places. What makes Hela Bojun Hala even more special is that it’s not just about the food — it’s a community-driven initiative that empowers local women and supports traditional cooking methods. It’s heartening to see such a place thrive, and knowing your meal supports a great cause makes it all the more satisfying. Prices are very reasonable too, so it’s a fantastic option if you want to try a variety of local dishes without breaking the bank. If you’re in the area, make sure to stop by. You won’t regret it — your taste buds will thank you!

Hela Bojun Kandy (KCC) is a fantastic spot if you’re looking for authentic Sri Lankan flavors at a very reasonable price. The place is clean, well-maintained, and offers a wide variety of food options under one roof. For around Rs. 300 per person, you can enjoy a satisfying meal with plenty of different items. They serve Sri Lankan, Tamil, and English-style dishes, so there’s something for everyone. From roti, kiribath, dosa, wada, udu wada, pittu, and idiappa (string hoppers) to rice and curry, sweets, burgers, and fresh drinks — the choices are endless and all freshly made. A great place for families, travelers, and anyone who wants to taste traditional Sri Lankan food at its best without spending too much. Highly recommended!

This is the Hela Bhojun Hala we would recommend you visit. We got there after a lot of wrong decisions but the hype is so worth it. The concept itself is commendable. The quality, the options, the pricing all at such a location is amazing. I have been lucky to go beyond being a budget traveller. I am more of a 'we have endless budget' for the first half of the trip and "I don't want to eat ya, I am just here at the vibes. Thank you for the water, can you freeze it into cubes for me? Oh cubes are paid for? Well then the water is fine" traveller now. We were on the first half of the trip but this place is amazing. We had like 8-9 items and all of them were either decent/good or amazing. We paid under 1000LKR for the entire meal. What I would recommend is the EGG CHEESE HOPPER. That thing hits harder than Will Smith. It was so good. The cheese and egg work together brilliantly. Please ask them to make a fresh one or wait till other people around take the colder ones and they make a fresh batch :P It is so worth it. I apologise for not clicking any pictures. I was too hungry. Also tactfully, if you are 2+ people, one should try to find a seat as it is packed and the other does the ordering. If you are 3 people then it is perfect as one can order, other one finds a seat and the third carries dishes aka the passer. If you are 4+ then analyse if you want to ditch a friend because 3 is perfect. If you are alone, get friends, you loser (but not too many)

I recently dined at the Oak Ray Restaurant in Kandy and must say it is an excellent place to dine if you are visiting Kandy Temple and City. The restaurant is conveniently located very close to the temple, which makes it the perfect place to refresh after the temple visit. The prices at the Oak Ray restaurant are very reasonable and this made the experience even more enjoyable. You can enjoy great food at affordable prices. The staff was very courteous and welcoming. They were well-versed with the menu and helped us choose our meals. The only small drawback is that the location of the restaurant is not visible much. But, for people who are aware of the locality, it is not an issue. Overall, I had a very positive experience at the Oak Ray Restaurant in Kandy. It doesn't matter how good the food is if the service is appalling! We arrived with our guide and driver to treat him to lunch. They completely ignored our driver as a guest. My wife and I received menus, but he didn't. We had to ask for one. They "forgot" to bring us water as we watched them serve the European guests. After asking, they brought the water and only poured glasses for my wife and me, neglecting our guest. When we finished eating, our guest wanted to take the rest of his food home as a takeaway. The young, tall and slim waiter gave me a disgusted look when I asked, then he asked someone else to assist me. I don't care if it's just a slice of bread, I'm paying for it, and I should be able to take it away. They spoke to our guest in the Sri Lankan language, and he told them it was okay out of embarrassment. This was saddening, and I truly hate how I felt after this experience. I DON'T RECOMMEND this place to anyone. I don't know if it was racism or colorism, but discrimination has no place in a "professional" environment. I was thoroughly enjoying our day in Kandy, but this disgusting behavior honestly ruined the day.

The Pub is located in the heart of Kandy, which makes it a popular spot for locals and visitors to catch their favourite sports events. The pub features several big screens and is generally very relaxed, making it a great place to people watch or chat with the staff. It's also a popular spot to socialize during cricket season.
The atmosphere and the staffs are very friendly. It is good that service charge is clearly mentioned on the menu and staffs won’t ask you for tips. Many other places in Kandy will always try to ask for tips from foreigners. Vintage atmosphere is simply fantastic and food is delicious. Highly recommended.

I visited The Bakehouse in Kandy and was impressed by the service. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and very attentive. The atmosphere has a very local feel, which made the experience quite authentic. There are plenty of dishes to choose from, and the menu offers a wide range of options. Personally, I found the traditional Sri Lankan food a bit challenging as the strong aromas and spicy curries were new to me, so it wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. However, I really enjoyed the tea they served, which was excellent. The restaurant is conveniently located right opposite the KCC shopping mall, making it easy to find. While the food may not have suited my taste, I would still recommend this place for its service, atmosphere, and authentic local experience.

The restaurant offers a pleasant dining experience with good food that meets expectations. The service is attentive and efficient, contributing positively to the overall experience. What truly sets this place apart is its vintage ambiance, reminiscent of the era when Kandy was under British rule. The decor is filled with historical charm, featuring numerous old photographs of Kandy that transport you back in time. This nostalgic setting creates a unique atmosphere, making it more than just a meal but a journey into the city's past. While the restaurant itself may be average, the historical vibe certainly adds a distinctive touch.

The Hideout Lounge in Kandy is a popular choice for budget travelers, offering dorms starting at $6 USD per night. The breakfast is known to be generous and the overall atmosphere is highly praised. The lounge also serves as a dining spot with friendly staff and various seating areas. It's recommended to make reservations on weekends due to its popularity. The lounge offers a cool setup and great cocktails, while the food receives mixed reviews but is generally considered tasty.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) Hideout Lounge Kandy, right in front of the beautiful Kandy Lake, has really improved since my last visit. The place looks amazing now, with great vibes and a relaxing atmosphere. The staff are very professional, attentive, and treat customers with real respect — really adds to the experience. I did miss the two friendly dogs who used to be around, they always made the place feel extra welcoming. We ordered the “For the Love of Bacon” Pizza and “Hideout Loaded Manioc.” The manioc was absolutely delicious — full of flavor and perfectly done. The pizza didn’t have much flavor this time, but that’s okay — next time I’m definitely going for the pork chops, they were amazing before! Had some beer with the food, which is always a good combo here. Unfortunately, we missed the rooftop bar since it opens at 5 p.m., but definitely planning to check it out next time. Overall, one of the best spots in Kandy to relax, enjoy good food and drinks, and take in the beautiful lake view. Highly recommend it!

Absolutely loved the vibe at Hideout Lounge! The atmosphere is stylish yet relaxed, with great music and a creative design that captures the charm of Kandy. Thank you Lanka for the warm welcome and tour. You have a great team who were incredibly warm and welcoming … their hospitality made the experience feel personal and memorable. The cocktails were well done and the food was exceptional. If you have a sweet tooth, the Jaggery Beef dish is a must-try … unusual, but it works beautifully. A perfect spot to unwind and enjoy great food and drink. See you next time we are in Sri Lanka.

Came here as saw it all over social media. It’s a good option for a few drinks & some western food in Kandy, as there isn’t many other alternatives. The staff were always friendly & attentive. The drinks were good quality - cold & fresh. We had the sea bass & the cauliflower steak and both were delicious.

We had a new dish, the Zucchini Carpaggio which was really good and filling. The vegan meatballs was delicious and light and tasted really good! Mithu had some great recommendations on the food and the drinks and was super helpful throughout the evening :)

We went to Hideout a few times during our stay in Kandy and absolutely loved it! The food and drinks were great, and the atmosphere was so welcoming. The staff were all super friendly, we really enjoyed our little chats with them each time we visited. Such a lovely spot to enjoy good vibes. Definitely recommend!

This place was outstanding. The waiters are smiling all the time and trying to help us with their food recommendations. The place's vibes are really stunning and so positive. Some cool music was playing with the DJ in the background but not too loud though. We tried hummus with prawns which was very exotic and big portion given it's an appetizer! Their cocktails are a bit expensive comparing to Srilanka but they are worth it! Food vibes and staff thumps up!
Acile M — Google review
A pleasant place, tastefully decorated and without excessive colorfulness. The food is delicious and the drinks are cold, rich and refreshing. It's a bit of a problem for parking because it has a limited number of places. You need to announce yourself. The terrace above is spacious and nicely decorated and has excellent air circulation, which is very important here. The prices are affordable and you can have a nice lunch for 12-20 euros per person with a drink.

Nice spot but bit of a tourist trap, high prices, guy singing western tunes and NO WIFI!! Get the idea but Tourists need wifi when travelling. We had local dishes, which were good but just meat and rice 🍚

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful historical hotel. Its charm and heritage really make it special. The location is fantastic — right in the heart of Kandy, just a short walk to the Temple of the Tooth and the city center. Our room was spacious, with a stunning view overlooking the Temple, the lake, and the city. The facilities are excellent — we especially enjoyed the pool, which we often had almost to ourselves. The breakfast buffet was delicious with plenty of choices, and the bar had a great atmosphere and was very good value. The staff were warm and welcoming throughout our stay. A special shout-out to Michelle for her kind help and hospitality — she truly made our experience even better. If you love history, comfort, and a great location, Queen’s Hotel is the perfect place to stay in Kandy. Highly recommended! 🌿✨

I really enjoyed my stay at Queens Hotel in Kandy. The place has a distinct historic charm and aesthetic vibe that makes it feel special, almost like stepping back in time. The view, atmosphere, and overall setting were beautiful. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay, always polite and welcoming. Service at the restaurant was generally good, though at times it took a little while for the staff to approach or take orders. Still, everyone was kind and attentive once they did. Overall, it was a memorable and pleasant experience — I’d gladly stay here again.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ (4/5) Stayed at Queens Hotel Kandy with my parents and really enjoyed our time there. The location is perfect , right in the heart of Kandy, across from the Temple of the Tooth and the lake. The hotel has a lovely old world charm and a relaxing atmosphere. Our room was spacious and clean, and the staff were very polite and helpful throughout our stay. We booked a room-only plan, so we didn’t try the food, but the dining area looked great. Overall, a wonderful stay with great service and a fantastic location. Would definitely come back!❤️❤️❤️❤️

I stayed at Queen’s hotel for a night. As a solo traveler, I booked a superior double room with an en-suite and a balcony from which you can see the Buddha’s statue! The room was clean and came with all the essentials. Love the British style architecture and decor of the hotel. The breakfast was wonderful too! The location is great, right across from the lake and a temple as well as close to the railway station. Also, Michelle was super helpful in answering any questions and recommending local Sri Lankan food to try for me! She also ensured that I reach at the railway station on time by speaking to the driver directly. Thank you! Highly recommend this place to everyone but especially to solo travellers in terms of value, safety and ease of sightseeing!

Nestled in the bustling center of Kandy, Royal Bar & Hotel is a dynamic dining venue that effortlessly combines delectable cuisine, lively entertainment, and a dash of sophistication. This iconic eatery is beloved by both locals and visitors for its diverse menu, vibrant atmosphere, and exceptional hospitality. The restaurant's colonial architecture exudes grandeur while the contemporary interior design creates an inviting ambiance.
We stumbled upon The Royal Park Hotel while walking in Kandy and decided to return for breakfast the next day. Even though we arrived a bit late (11 AM), just past their breakfast hours, the staff graciously accommodated us and prepared their traditional British breakfast for 3300 LKR per person. The breakfast was served on beautiful British porcelain and included delicious coffee, you can decide of a selection of fresh juices, and eggs cooked to our preference. It also came with assorted bread and a platter of fresh fruits. We enjoyed our meal at a window table overlooking the street. The service was exceptional! We had a lovely chat with our waitress, who was incredibly friendly and attentive. She even gave us a tour of a room decorated with antique British furniture and fascinating black and white photographs showcasing Kandy's history. The Royal Park Hotel has a quiet and charming courtyard oasis in the heart of the bustling city. It's a perfect spot for a relaxing breakfast or a peaceful retreat. Even though we saw folks smoking there. Luckily our breakfast spot was on the 1st floor facing the street. We highly recommend it for its excellent service, delicious food, and very British atmosphere.

I had lunch recently at this place. The staff is nice and very welcoming. The food and beverages are excellent. There is English colonial architecture throughout the premises. The upper-level verandah and dining area feature an elegant heritage design, which is hard to find in many places. Next time, I'm going to stay here, and I highly recommend it to anyone who would like to experience old heritage architecture.

Went in for coffee when visiting Kandy for the first time and ended up getting breakfast too. The coffee was great (had a latte and a cappuccino) and the chicken sandwich and brownie were great too. Went in the next day for coffee and another sandwich and some fish and chips and everything was excellent once again. The service was great and the location (especially when sitting outside) is quite nice. The bathrooms were immaculate and had toilet paper, hand-wash and a sanitary bin. Overall a great experience. Highly recommended!

Beautiful old English style hotel in the heart of Kandy, a short walk from the Temple of The Sacred Tooth Relic and the lake. The rooms are old fashioned and a little quirky but comfortable and the staff are terrific. Loved the breakfast on the balcony and English speaking local newspapers. We organised our onward driver through the staff here. I’d definitely stay here again.

Great location. Colonial atmosphere. Reasonable pricing. But Extremely bad attitude. They worship foreigners. We are null and void. Staff is unfriendly. They do not smile at you. They do not treat you with dignity. Such Slapdash behaviour. I don’t like this type of treatment. But you are most welcome to visit the place. May be they will treat you better.

We came to the Royal bar for a drink and I would say it’s a must do in Kandy. Really old building with an interesting picture room that’s worth looking at. Drinks were on the expensive side but that wasn’t unexpected. The standout was the food. We ordered a chicken Dosa thinking it was a snack (given that it was cheaper than a beer) and it fed two of us to the point we cancelled our dinner plans! Really tasty. If you can try and sit downstairs it’s a bit more for the locals and a better experience - for example, they have draft beer downstairs but not offered upstairs. Overall worth the experience, as most places in Sri Lanka, the staff were wonderful!

Cafe Divine Street is a charming spot offering a diverse menu of well-seasoned and attractively presented dishes such as burgers, kebabs, subs, and fried rice at very reasonable prices. The cozy upstairs area provides a relaxed atmosphere, making it an ideal place to gather with friends. This tiny yet industrious local-run cafe has gained popularity for its generous food portions and great customer service. It's highly recommended for those seeking delicious meals without breaking the bank in Kandy.
The place is quite surprising. I went there because of a recommendation and the place did not disappoint me at all. I went with my family members and the we ordered Passion fruit juice, vegetable cheese kottu and a chicken fried rice. Portions were huge and totally worth for the money. I loved how the staff was very attentive to the needs. I requested for a ginger beer which was not chilled because I had a cold and the staff kindly provided me what I requested for. I highly recommend the place. However, they can improve the outlook of the entrance so more people would easily find the place.

I visited Café Divine Street in Kandy and tried their Cheese Koththu — it was absolutely delicious! The flavors were rich and well-balanced, and the portion was generous. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service made the experience even better. Definitely worth a visit!

The cafe has a pleasant staff that makes you feel welcome, but unfortunately, the food falls short. The dishes lack freshness, which affects the overall experience. On the plus side, the portions are generous. However, the quality of the food needs improvement to match the friendly service.

This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. We ordered a chicken submarine that smelled fishy and rotten. The first bite was so sour and disgusting, it nearly made us vomit on the spot. We immediately told the staff, and instead of showing any concern, the chef arrogantly said it “looked good” — but also admitted he hadn’t tasted it. What kind of chef refuses to taste food that customers say might be spoiled? No apology. No refund. No accountability. Just a smug attitude and the same ridiculous response: “It’s good.” When we asked them to taste it themselves, they flat-out refused — probably because they knew it was inedible. To make things worse, we still had to pay for that garbage. The customer service was nonexistent, and the entire experience was disgusting and unacceptable. This place shouldn’t even be serving food. Avoid it like the plague.
Nuki _ — Google review
Got a chicken Shawarma and I'm very very disappointed. Tasted like mushroom drowned in mayonnaise. 1000lkr wasted. The 450lkr Shawarma in "Burgers vs Shawarma" is far better with half the price. Not to mention there's no water, sauce or napkins at any table at all. I had to ask water separately. I mean how, from a restaurant at this price level.
M A — Google review
Had chicken burgers and submarines here. The buns tasted stale, and there was hardly any chicken in them. They took a considerable amount of time to deliver the food, but the dishes were tasteless and not worth the money. Cannot recommend this place.
Sasith D — Google review
I recently visited this restaurant and had an overall decent experience. The food was good, though the taste was somewhat moderate and not particularly memorable. However, the portion sizes were satisfying and well-balanced.The atmosphere and location of the restaurant were also moderate. It wasn't anything extraordinary, but it was comfortable enough for a pleasant meal. If you're looking for a decent place to eat without any high expectations, this restaurant is a reasonable choice.
Sachi K — Google review
Tried a delicious chicken cheese kottu, and the portion was big enough for more than three people, which is great deal compared to other places I’ve tried. The only con was that we had to wait over 20 mins for them to take our order. Other than that the food is really good and recommended!

Honey Pot Restaurant is a charming family-owned eatery offering a diverse menu that includes Sri Lankan, South Asian, Halal, and Western dishes. The restaurant is particularly popular for its vegetarian options. Guests are encouraged to dine al fresco in the evenings to take advantage of the breathtaking river views and refreshing breezes. A must-try dish is the chicken biryani served with dhal maharainie, pineapple, boiled egg mint raita and a poppadum.
This restaurant is beautifully located by a rushing mountain river, where the water flows with incredible force, creating a truly unique atmosphere. Sitting here and enjoying a meal while watching the river is an experience on its own. I had Sri Lankan-style chicken curry with white rice, and the taste was absolutely outstanding. The combination of delicious food and the stunning natural view made it even more special. Highly recommended!

The food was decent, but it’s quite touristy. Our tour guide took us here, and the view is great—you’re sitting right in front of the river. However, the food was average, and the service was slow. The prices were also too high for the quality of the food.

Welcoming staff, even the ground floor is a bit old looking and a bit dark. You can choose an upstairs more modern touch and less crowded. Even the food quality is 👍. Worthy for the money you pay .. I took chicken biryani family potion for 5..

The restaurant is known for its delicious and reasonably priced food. While the staff is friendly, service can be a bit slow at times. The ambiance is clean but slightly dimly lit. It's a great place to enjoy meals with options ranging from veg curries to parathas and chapatis.
Yammy Indian food restaurant in the city in my experience. They haven't restricted to their menu only for vegetarian item and got all the varieties of foods and provide chicken, mutton etc...They got delicious egg biriyani for LKR 400 rupees and egg paper dosai also much better and its in LKR 300 range. This place located in Colombo Street, Kandy and its a calm and quite place to have bite in the city. My suggestion is to have the meals over there, because take away and trying to eat won't much work...need to have these foods in hot hot

Food was fine, not the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka but it was quite good compared to other restaurants we’ve been to in Kandy. There were three dishes that we wanted but the restaurant didn’t have the ingredients (okra, clauiflower, spinach) so we ended up having veg curry, which was mainly carrots, and dahl. The breads were good. Service was fine as well and we were served quite quickly.

This restaurant serves authentic Indian cuisine, which is so delectable, and of good quality. However, they are not so swift in serving their customers and make them wait so long. If they increase the table capacity and the staff, and their efficiency it would make the cuacusto happy in those aspects as well. Delicious food though !!!!

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with everything I needed for a relaxing visit. The staff were very friendly and always ready to help with a smile, which made the experience even better. The restaurant served delicious meals with a good variety, and the service was excellent. The location was convenient and peaceful, perfect for both relaxation and exploring nearby attractions. Overall, a great experience – I would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to coming back again! 🌟

I appreciated the spacious room and the pleasant view from Room No. 308. However, there were several issues that impacted our stay: The mattress was quite uncomfortable, and it felt like the springs were worn out, making it hard to rest properly. The air conditioner made a loud noise whenever turned on, which was quite disturbing, especially at night. The shower head in the bathroom was broken and fell off multiple times while we were showering. Unfortunately, the hotel didn't meet our expectations.

We were in a group tour and visited the handicraft section. The silk section and incidentally, their restaurant to appears to be at the high-end, showing a lot of good variety of different handicrafts. I also experienced carving out a little bit on the wood. The the representative explain different type of woods found in sri lanka and it was a very educational lecture. We were very impressed with all the variety on both the flowers and the entire place appear to be very professionally, managed clean toilets and a lot of parking facilities too available

I recently went there for lunch buffet with my family. They charged rs 4000 per one. But, There were very limited food varieties. Dessert conner was very simple. ( fruits, jelly, ice cream, bread pudding and sago pudding) Because, I had lots of experience with buffet. Sri Lankan food was very delicious. But, overall lunch buffet, it’s not worth. And, I spent one night there. Room was very good and clean. Staff and hotel room were fantastic.

**5/5 Stars – Exceptional!** We recently had a wedding at Oak Ray Regency Hotel- Kandy, and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. From the moment I arrived, the Manager - Mr. Rohan Fernando made me feel welcome and went out of their way to ensure a smooth event. The banquet was spacious , beautifully decorated, and equipped with everything we needed for a successful event. One of the highlights was the lunch—fresh, delicious, and with a wide variety to choose from. The hotel's location is also perfect. What truly stood out was the level of service. Every team member was friendly, professional, and genuinely cared about making our event enjoyable. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend Oak Ray Regency - Kandy to anyone visiting the area!

As Muslim guests, we felt truly comfortable and warmly welcomed from the very first visit to this hotel. Mr. Bandara has always greeted us with genuine kindness and exceptional hospitality. We've stayed at this hotel 3 to 5 times now, and each time he has treated us not just as guests, but like family. He consistently ensured that we lacked nothing, always checking on our needs—even late at night. His attentiveness, care, and respect for our preferences truly touched us. Mulberry SugarCarb is an Italian restaurant in Kandy that serves some of the best pizza and milkshakes around. It's a bit quiet but the bird's nest in the corner may contribute to that. The food is amazing and worth a visit for anyone visiting Kandy.
A bit of a hidden gem in Kandy. Right off the main street on the 3rd floor. We came for late lunch. It is a super clean spot including a toilet, a very good quality of food, and a great katzu-wiener snitzel. It's a bit pricey but worth it.

The surroundings are very good. Especially the working young people take good care of the customers & provide good service❤️. The menu has a variety of dishes (not just pizza). I think some of them are unique to the restaurant. But I bought a pizza. Because I am a pizza lover. The pizza dough is good, it is very soft. But I was not very happy with the pizza I bought. I bought the Surf & Turf pizza. Because it was in the restaurant's Signature Pizza category. My personal opinion is that beans & potatoes should not be put in that way. (Try grilled potato & bean). It tasted like an Indian vegetarian restaurant. I know that customer wise (taste) food is not prepared in restaurants. Therefore, I hope this will be taken as my personal opinion.

I wish there is more space on the rooftop.. service is great, love the taste of lasagna but not enough layers instead of its a bit wide. Bot bad but its great if it has more layers to it. Beef bolognese was good but need to have more sause. Both tasted great though.

We had an amazing dinner out at La Mulberry. ‘Chicken Pasta’ was one of the most delicious pastas that I‘ve ever tried. From Pizzas, we tried ‘BBQ Chicken’ and ‘Peri Peri Chicken’ and those were pretty tasty as well. And ‘Chicken Rice Bowl’ was the perfect getaway for us from the regular fried rice that we have so often. ‘Orange & Mango’ along with ‘Passion Fruit & Mint’ fresh juices were the perfect combination to finish our amazing dinner.

Café 1886 is a great Sri Lankan restaurant well-known by locals and tourists. The food is especially good for spicy foods, and the highlighted dishes include fried rice with eggs, chicken, fish and seafood. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the prices are very affordable. From the balcony you can enjoy a nice view of the city.
One of the best places for a cozy dinner or a happening lunch. The view of the street below was fantastic from the balcony. Parking might be limited in the afternoon but it's easily accessible if you park your car in the municipal car park. Food was very delicious and it was a huge portion. I visited Cafe Nuwara recently with my wife. It’s a beautiful place with a nice atmosphere and a great location for photography — perfect spot to relax. The food was good, but I was not satisfied with the drinks — they had too much ice and very little drink. The waiter service could be improved too. Overall, it’s a lovely place to visit, especially for the view and vibe.

I recently visited Cafe Nuwara, and it was a lovely experience overall. My friend had given me a “bride-to-be” sash, and the staff made the occasion feel really special. A big shout-out to Pasindu, who was very attentive and helpful throughout our visit by accommodating our various needs efficiently. The food was good the portion sizes were generous and definitely worth the price. Everything we tried was well-prepared. We chose to sit outside, which had a nice vibe, although it was a little hot and humid. Some extra cooling would make the outdoor seating even more enjoyable. One area that really needs improvement, though, is the washroom. It didn’t have basic amenities and was not clean at all. A thorough makeover is definitely needed to match the vibes of the cafe. Overall, Cafe Nuwara is a great spot or hang out.

I tried the double cheeseburger for the first time — it was good, though the cheese flavor could be improved a bit. We also had a mocha bubble drink, which was absolutely delicious! The customer service was very friendly and welcoming, and we really appreciated that. However, a few staff members were a bit noisy while setting up, which slightly affected the calm vibe, especially since we were the first customers of the day. And we found a small piece of egg shell on the egg in the burger. And better if can improve the chairs. It’s hard to rest while having foods Overall, I’m happy with the experience! The place has lovely décor and a beautiful aesthetic that truly captures the Kandy vibe.

New Flower Song Restaurant is a family-friendly Chinese restaurant located just north of the town center. It offers a variety of meat and seafood dishes with huge portions of rice or noodles. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a children's play area on the second level. The menu includes a variety of soup choices, with portion sizes ranging from extra small for one person to large for about nine people.
Situated in front of Trinity college - Kandy. Has adequate space for parking. Delicious Chinese and other food are provided. Good service and prices are worth for the food.

If you're in Kandy and looking for a nostalgic dining experience, New Flower Song restaurant is a must-visit. This vintage-looking Chinese restaurant transports you back to the 70s, with its old-school decor and even a retro lift that adds to the charm. After a long road trip, we were famished and ordered a variety of dishes: Hot and Sour soup, Singapore chilli fish, fried spring rolls, omelette, stir-fry vegetables, and two large plates of seafood fried rice and Singapore Beehoon noodles. The taste was decent, and while the authenticity of the Chinese dishes could be rated at 65%, the effort was commendable. One downside was the slow service; we had to wait over 30 minutes for our food, which tested our patience. However, the staff remained polite and patient throughout, which was appreciated. Despite the wait, we left the restaurant happy and full. The total bill came to slightly over 12,000 rupees, which we found reasonable for the amount of food we ordered. Overall, New Flower Song offers a unique dining experience with a touch of nostalgia, decent food, and courteous service.

I've been a loyal customer here for years, but the quality has absolutely nosedived since COVID. I recently ordered through Uber Eats, only to find that these twinklemutts had mixed old fish with fresh—seriously? As someone who's eaten seafood all my life, I can tell you there's no hiding that stench. I've really held myself from putting this review for so long, one disappointment after another. Good riddance. Ps - Attaching a picture as proof that I actually ordered.

I'm 46 now and I have been ordering from this place from my childhood. Best for a dinner outing. Variety of soup choices available Chicken and sweet corn was best Sizes of bowl matters. XS means extra small that is enough for a single person. Small size enough for 3 to 4 people and large size for about 9 people. Mee goreng mentioned in the menu was actually similar to local rice noodles. But spicy. Dark theme inside the restaurant was highlighting the dinner time and it gives a perfect environmental feel. Better place for chinese food lovers.

The Grill House is a great rooftop restaurant to enjoy a meal with friends, especially on a quieter Sunday night. Diners have enjoyed dishes such as prawn rice, chicken cheesesteak, and chicken submarine, all of which come in generous portions for the price.

Fast service and friendly staff. We ordered the prawn rice, chicken cheesestake and chicken submarine. All of them had good portion size compared to value. Prawn rice tasted okay. Chicken cheesestake was awesome. The boiled vegetables were well seasoned and everything went well together. The chicken was grilled perfectly. The chicken submarine had a good amount of filling and tasted good and fresh. Only complaint is that the place look a bit rundown. Almost made me give this review a 3 start rating but the quality of the food deserves a 4.

We ordered crispy chicken subs, burgers and kottu. The chicken was awfully cooked the batter was tasteless (honestly tasted like Ajinomoto less murukku), and the most irritating of all, you can't bite into the burger without hitting your teeth hard on massive chicken bones, courtesy of the so called chefs who forgot to remove em. Ah almost forgot to mention that they don't provide tissues nor they have proper sinks to clean up a bit off of accidental sauce stains and such. We asked multiple times for some tissues after the meal, at first they said they would provide in a bit, but eventually acted like they didn't hear us at all. I wish the food was good, the rooftop restaurant honestly is a great place to hangout (If they actually put some effort to organise the tables and chairs a bit, which was super disoriented on our visit, dunno if that's the case everyday). Hard to recommend the place to anybody because of the poor hospitality and awful food.

The restaurant offers a customer-friendly menu and there was minimal wait time. Additionally, they provide food delivery services through Uber and Pick. It's worth noting that Open Rice has been recognized as one of the best establishments in Kandy on TripAdvisor, proudly displaying their certification.
I had the pleasure of dining at Open Rice in Kandy and tried their mixed fried rice, chop suey rice, chicken noodles, and naan set menu. For beverages, I enjoyed the chocolate milkshake, lime juice, and soft drinks. Every dish was absolutely delicious, and there was nothing to fault! The prices are slightly on the higher side, but they are still affordable considering the quality and taste. The service was also very friendly and welcoming. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience—highly recommended!

I ordered Thai mix rice. The food was disappointing. It was overly salty, which made it difficult to enjoy the flavors. The meats were very hard and tough to chew, lacking tenderness and proper preparation. Overall, the meal did not meet expectations.

One of the worst meals I've ever had. Sauce was bland and flavourless. Rice was salty and flavourless. Tasted like it was from the microwave. Same as the naan bread which looked like it been made 20 years ago with terrible butter. Chicken was full of bones and flavourless. Also tiny portion but maybe not a bad thing considering the quality. Avoid .

The food was delicious and the customer service was excellent. The place is clean, the food is hygienic, and everything was just perfect. Highly recommended! 🍽️

The chopduey special was really great with a handfull amount of meat. The creamy cheese kottu is also recomended Drinks are a bit mid. But okayish. Loved the mix fruit milkshake.

Had a dinner out with my family at their outlet in Peradeniya road ans here's what I experienced. The service was exveptional. The steward who attended to us provided a really good service and was very welcoming. However the foos did not meet my expectations. We ordered a Mongolian seafood fried rice, a pork fried rice and a chicken noodles. The sauce of the mongolian rice was not mixed it came as a topping which is not the way I prefer. The pork fried rice had plenty of meat in it and can say it had an average taste. Same goes with the noodle. I kind of felt like the food lacked a little bit of salt. Pork fried rice may had none at all. Space wise it feela a little bit conjested. We dined in the secons floor. First floor gets crowded quickly it seems. If you are looking for a place to have privacy for what you takk this wouldn't be the ideal place. Its a little packed. Overall the experience was average. Would like to see some taste improvements im their food. But I definetely will go back for a other meal.

We purchased take away for veggie burgers this time. Very happy with it. Fresh n delivered fast..Also the staff person at the car park was really helpful to us during a previous day during a very busy hour in the premises. That time also v take away vegetarian food, rice n chop souy, was very nice with variety of veggies..Thank You! Have not dine in-house. Staff was friendly at the take away outlet.

Hi, I ordered Cuttlefish Chinese Fried Rice from OpenRice on the 10th of April through PickMe. Unfortunately, the meal was quite disappointing it was overly salty yet lacked proper flavor. The cuttlefish tasted more like it had been boiled rather than properly cooked, which affected the overall taste and texture. What’s more concerning is that everyone who ate the meal experienced stomach discomfort afterward. I’m not writing this to give a bad review, but rather to help improve your food quality and customer satisfaction. I truly hope you take this feedback positively and ensure better preparation and quality control in the future. Thank you, and I hope to have a better experience next time.

Indian Summer Restaurant offers a delightful blend of South Indian and Chinese cuisine. The menu features an array of dishes including mixed green salad, Raita, Veg Seekh Kebab, Garlic Cheese Naan, Aloo Paratha, Chili Paneer, and Gobi Manchurian. The restaurant boasts a charming interior with comfortable seating and friendly staff. It is popular among tourists for its extensive selection of Chinese dishes alongside authentic Indian flavors.
Indian Summer is one of the best restaurants in Kandy! The food is absolutely delicious, full of authentic flavors, and always served fresh and hot. The menu has a wide variety of Indian and international dishes, so there’s something for everyone. The service is excellent—staff are very friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with recommendations. The atmosphere is elegant yet cozy, making it perfect for both family gatherings and special occasions. The location is also beautiful, with a calm and relaxing setting that adds to the dining experience. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portion sizes you get. If you are in Kandy and looking for great food with top-notch service, Indian Summer is definitely a must-visit restaurant!

I visited Indian Summer for a biriyani dinner and really enjoyed it. The food was quite good — flavorful, well-cooked, and served fresh. The portion size was satisfying and definitely worth the reasonable price. A nice spot for anyone craving a good biriyani without overspending!

Visited Indian Summer Kandy and was quite disappointed. The place was poorly maintained ,when we first arrived, there was a strong toilet smell that forced us to switch tables. Thankfully, the smell was gone after that. We started with sweet corn chicken and egg soup, which was excellent, and the lassis were also good. However, the main dishes were a letdown. The butter chicken was overly sweet and tasted off, even though we specifically asked for it to be extra spicy. It felt like the chef got it completely wrong. The Peshawari chicken was just okay, but the naan breads were literally burnt. On top of that, the pricing was absurd ,we were charged Rs. 2700 for just 80g of chicken that was far below average in taste and quality. The only positive was the service, which was attentive and friendly. But overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place. Not worth the price or the experience.

The food is good, but not the best for for the price. It tastes fine, but expected more for the price. However, the service is excellent! The staffs are friendly and really take care of you, which makes the experience much better. Overall, it’s decent place to try, just don’t expect top-tier food for the price. * The photo i added was taken on June 15th 2025.

Worst biryani I’ve had in a long time. The place itself is nice, calm, and quiet , but the food really needs work. Maybe it’s time for a new chef, or at least for the team to explore the better spots around Kandy, taste for themselves, and adjust their standards.

My Recent Visit to Indian Summer Restaurant, Kandy Food Review: I ordered two items – a Chicken Fried Rice Combo Set and a Nasi Set. * Chicken Fried Rice Combo:
The rice was decent, but the chicken pieces were extremely small and seemed to have been fried in reused oil. The broccoli side dish was drenched in oil – very unhealthy and unpleasant to eat. Overall, it felt like the food was cooked with little care for quality or health. * Nasi Set:
This was far from what you'd expect of a traditional nasi goreng. The rice was excessively oily, lacked any distinct flavor, and had a strange mix of ketchup or soy-like salad. The fried chicken that came with it was also overly oily and tasteless. It definitely did not represent the authentic nasi goreng experience. It’s clear the restaurant uses low-quality oil that has likely been reused multiple times, judging by the smell and greasiness of the food. This raises serious concerns about hygiene and health. The overall food preparation feels careless, with an overuse of oil and artificial flavorings. I suspect they might even be using additives like MSG to create artificial taste, which is concerning. Service Charge: Another issue was the 10% service charge. When I questioned the manager about this, he responded that it's because they provide air conditioning and a place to sit. Frankly, this is unacceptable. Charging a service fee should be justified by actual service and quality – not simply for basic seating and AC. For a restaurant of this standard, with no real premium amenities or service, adding 10% on top of the bill feels like an unfair attempt to make up for other costs like rent. This kind of justification is misleading to customers. Final Thoughts: If you're someone who cares about healthy, hygienic food with real flavor, I would not recommend this place. The food was overly oily, lacked authentic taste, and seemed to prioritize cost-cutting over customer experience. The service charge policy is also quite unfair. Definitely not a great experience overall.

The butter chicken, garlic naan, plain paratha, and steamed rice were all delicious. The only downside was that no one asked about our preferred spice level — they seemed to assume we couldn’t handle chilli, so the food came without any heat. Service was friendly and efficient with minimal waiting time.

This was an excellent dining experience. We had some curry's that were truly amazing. I have never had chicken so tender. The staff was polite and quick to answer any questions about the food. The ambience was tranquil yet refined. Prices were also rather affordable.

"No Name Restaurant" in Kandy, Sri Lanka is a hidden gem offering delicious home-cooked Sri Lankan food. This family-owned restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and supper at very reasonable prices. The owner is also an artist who sells authentic Sri Lankan handicrafts. The cozy atmosphere and authentic meals make it a genuine experience for visitors. Despite being a bit off the beaten track, the freshly prepared food and friendly service make it well worth the effort to find this little cafe.
Lovely little place with local food cooked in the family's kitchen! We shared two portions of the rice and curry with chicken/fish, a veg koththu and three beers for LKR6600. Would recommend to anyone who wants real home cooked Sri Lankan food

Sitting on the enclosed porch with the family dog playing outside the door, eating delicious food cooked in the kitchen was as authentic as it gets. Perfect English spoken. Turning people away with seating for only 14, it was a busy night, and service was a bit slow. In their small gift shop I bought a wonderful mahogany moonstone carved by the son.

The best place to eat in Kandy, authentic food with the great and kind people working there. Everything was delicious, I would definitely came back if I could!

What an absolute delight of a place. Good home cooking, friendly service (tip: download the sinhalese package for google translate so you can tell aunty how much you love her cooking afterwards) and reasonable pricing. Had the chicken curry with 3 veg curries and it was so good. Massive serving too!

I ordered fried noodles, the waitress specifically asked if I wanted spicy and I said no. It was a pretty clear interaction, the language was not a problem. After waiting 40 minutes, the food came and it was so spicy that I could not eat it at all. Still, when she came with the bill she asked why I didn’t eat, I explained, and she charge the full price without any apology. Also we were alone in the restaurant, so the atmosphere was a bit strange, and they were not too busy to try to put effort on the service. I would not recommend at all.

Local family that has a restaurant attached to their home. The food was beyond great! They were very kind and very helpful. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a true local meal!

Perhaps this place was a little too authentic for 2 Canadians or perhaps the cook was having a bad night. Ordered chicken koththu. It seemed like they took the whole chicken and just chopped up the entire thing. Dish was full of bones that we had to sift through. Perhaps that is how it is supposed to be made but it was not tasty or easy to eat.

Best place me and my partner (UK) ate in Kandy! Delicious home cooked Sri Lankan food. We had breakfast and dinner here. Portion sizes are spot on and everything is great value. Husband and wife cooking out of their home, it’s a genuine experience. Highly recommend.
