OMG. The portions are meager and tasteless. The presentation is great, but it was not balanced and seasoned. The tuna dish had 5 pieces of 2x2 cm, which I could not distinguish the taste of. The amount of yogurt was overwhelming. The meat was not seared. Who wants “boiled steak”? It was not seasoned either. For such a price, it could be much better. Total disappointment.

We took a trip to Athlone to visit Thyme on a recommendation. Well worth it and we'll definitely be back. A lovely welcoming small dining room. Very friendly staff who are comfortable and confident speaking about the dishes. And what a meal. From start to finish it was beautifully presented but more importantly very very tasty. The halibut was fantastic. The sides amazing. And the price! They could easily charge more for that quality of food. What a treat. Thank you Thyme.

Food was lovely and the presentation was *chef’s kiss*. Staffs were really nice and attentive and made sure that all are needs were taken care of—allergies etc. Atmosphere was peaceful on a Thursday night. Great attention to detail after mentioning graduation celebration on our reservation booking. Would come back again! *note to customers, if you’re unsure of what the dish is, ask. No complaints on our end tho :)

Food was absolutely amazing from start to finish! Honestly one of the nicest meals we both ever had! We definitely recommend a visit. Lovely atmosphere & very friendly staff

I loved everything about it. The food down to the finest detail was fantastic. Couple that with Irish hospitality in a lovely dining room and you have an experience to remember. I opted for the 5 course menu for €65 per head . Very reasonably priced. We had the crispy hens egg and the wood pigeon for starters, followed by the lamb and brill and finally the chocolate, salted caramel tart and the rhubarb and liquorice something. Everything was delicious. A very strong recommendation and may even convince me to move back to Ireland

After a full weekend of tennis this was a great place to visit and relax and make plans for the next few weekends. It is not far from the tennis club either . Food was great, service was great and they have a good wine list.

We had the most tremendous experience at Kin Khao Athlone. From the moment we walked in, the warm atmosphere made us feel so welcome. The food was absolutely wonderful, full of authentic flavors, beautifully presented, and simply the best we have had in a long time. A very special mention to Janya, who went above and beyond to make our evening perfect. She patiently walked us through the menu, suggested the best dishes, and her recommendations were spot on. Her kindness and attentiveness added so much to the experience. Kin Khao truly delivers on every level with exceptional food, top class service, and an amazing atmosphere. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Athlone. Recommend trying the 10 hour Char Grilled Chicken And Minced chicken Salad

Absolutely blown away by the Khao Soi here. Easily the best I’ve had anywhere, and that includes spots in the U.S. where we’ve come. Super creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced, with just the right heat. You can tell they put serious care into the flavors. The dining area also felt unexpectedly homey and reminded me of traveling through Southeast Asia. The bright yellow exterior made it such a cute stop as we found this as we walked along the street. Kin Khao Thai was such a gem to find in Athlone. Highly recommend for anyone looking for real Thai food that delivers way beyond expectations.

This is a hard review to write... I was looking forward to eating here for a long time. I'd rented a boat on the Shannon for a weeks fishing & this meal was due to be the highlight of our Sat night. I'd booked a table for 8:30pm. I arrived at 8:10pm, the matradee checked for my reservation which didn't seem to be there, she then rudely told me to come back another night. I pointed out I'd called and booked for 8:30pm over a week ago to which she replied she'd go and check. When she came back she rudely said my booking was for 8:30pm not 8:10pm. She then seated me in a downstairs area of the restaurant that wasnt being used & had not even got lights on. All other customers were seated on the 2nd floor & I was in a dark room on the ground floor with no other customers sested near me. I asked if I could be moved and one of the very friendly and attentive waiters moved me to a table in the upstairs area with all other guests. I ordered the traditional Thai Pork Shoulder Skewers, Stir fried vegetables & Seabass special. The Pork Shoulders sounded excellent on the menu but were totally unseasoned and had no flavour as well as being almost 100% fat. The chilli dip they came with was nice. The veg stir fry was excellent with fresh well seasoned veg & a v nice soy/hoisin broth. The seabass was a huge letdown. The plate had a seabass carcass on it that was freezing cold and clearly was being used again & again to present the dish to many customers. The seabass chunks had just been deep fried with no flavour & were extremely dry, theu were clearly frozen not fresh and had no flavour at all. The same vegetable broth I'd ordered in the stir fry veg was also the sauce for the seabass dish. This was so disappointing as I'd heard so many good reviews but the food was a massive let down. I only gave 2 stars as the staff apart from the Matradee were excellent. Otherwise I'd of given no stars. This meal cost me €75 however I'd of got a better tasting meal in any cheap takeaway. So disappointing.

I had the Tom Khao Soup, which was delicious. My mom had the Pad Thai and Vegetable Spring Rolls and loved them. It’s a great restaurant within walking distance of all the pubs. Perfect for a late-night dinner.

Next level food. Amazing flavour, quality, service and atmosphere. An absolute feast for the tastebuds and the eyes, its truly worth every single dime spent. Something out of the box, not your ‘same old’ menu options, for sure. Highly recommended - especially for special occasions. Love it!

Absolutely incredible, we stumbled in on a whim and were blown away by the food, we had black pudding starter, prawn wonton and the smoked mackerel rillette set a high bar, but the main course blew us away! Fabulous porter steak for main and crispy sticky pork belly. Desserts just as good, such was the staff and wine and cocktails. If we lived in Athlone we would be the size of a house eating here every day

Lovely place for lunch in the centre of Athlone! A bright space with quirky decor. Great selection on the menu, five people all happy with what they got. Service was excellent. Staff really friendly, super efficient & very accommodating when we arrived early & took our time leaving! Thank you!

All I can say Wow!! Absolutely amazing food, the best of the best ingredients, all fresh, super delicious. We had 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 desserts, few extras and drinks.. lots of excellent tasty food.. the chicken was very tender and the 14hours braised beef was the best softest meat meal I have ever tasted.. even the mash potato and carrots were delicious. Highly recommended!

I was there at the weekend with my family. Had a warm salad with chili beef. It was very tasty was was missing something to go with it. Too chili and vinegary on its own. My husband had a chicken burger and it was massive. He couldn’t finish. Liked it though. My daughter had chicken goujones with chips and she said there was some spice on the chicken she didn’t like at all but I guess depends on the taste.

Made a special trip to try this restaurant and we were not disappointed. Owner and staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We had steak, fish and chicken. They were all presented beautifully and were equally delicious. I would definitely go back and would add this spot to the itinerary for anyone visiting Ireland.

Popped in here on a whim on a Friday night, we hadn't made a reservation. We were swiftly offered a table and made to feel very welcome by the extremely professional gentleman working that night. We all ordered different food options, Fillet steak, beef cheeks, Cod. We were all incredibly impressed by the presentation of the food, and the taste was simply divine. The quality of their produce is exceptional. The service, prices, and everything about this place is a perfect 5*

Fabulous, spacious and bright bistro adjacent to the beautiful River Shannon. Food was divine and staff so friendly without being intrusive. Didn't have room for dessert but will definitely try next time as I believe they are all homemade and delicious

Such a vibrant place, always busy and buzzing but the food was terrible. I ordered the mushroom bruschetta with parmesan which was lovely (and the only good thing I’ve had that evening), burger which was very dry and their lava cake for dessert which was very dry as well. It feels like that cake has been on the fridge for ages, that all the moist that it should have was all gone. You can even see it in the picture.

Stopped by this place for lunch. Seems like a nice and busy place, lots of families having Saturday lunch there. Food was good, but not mind-blowing. Service was also good. Overall, not a bad place.

We stopped by this bistro for lunch after driving down from Dublin and visiting Sean’s Bar. It was a solid meal—I had the warm prawn and chorizo salad, which was flavorful and filling. My friend had the bisque and cleaned his bowl. The staff were friendly and quick to help with anything. The restaurant was clean, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting.

Very nice place, it was very busy when we ate there Friday evening. Book your table in advance. It's modern, chic, beautiful. Authentic Italian food, delicious. Pasta, pizza, homemade bread, very tasty . Waiters were on hand and helped with all our requests. Excellent staff. We definitely come back. Main meal with cocktail was 40€.

A delicious meal in a busy restaurant served by efficient staff. What more could you ask for. I recommend you come . We didn't book, and were lucky to get a table, a Tuesday evening in july was very busy, so maybe book a table if you are coming.

I couldn't eat the Caesar salad as CHICKEN OUT OF DATE and yellow iceberg salad leaves, too Mach mayo !!! Was left hungry. The Irish coffee was for 9 euro and in a tiny non standard glass. I didn’t order a desert, as it was enough for me! didn’t show a fuss as I was with a partner didn’t want to spoil his mood.

Gluten Free options for coeliacs! Pizza, pasta, steak and many starters can be done GF. Staff very aware of allergens. Delicious food and very reasonably priced. Would recommend booking table to be sure as it gets busy.

Bacchus has a nice atmosphere and good food overall. The pizza was excellent — full of flavour and perfectly cooked. The pasta carbonara wasn’t my favourite, so I wouldn’t recommend that dish, but everything else was enjoyable. Worth a visit, especially for the pizza!

The location is great, with a lovely view overlooking the water—perfect for a relaxing meal. The food was good. We ordered the tandoori lamb, poached pear salad, and Irish seafood linguine, and each dish was flavorful and well-prepared. While the selection of kid-friendly drinks was a bit limited, the ones available were enjoyable. The service was friendly and attentive and we enjoyed our meal.

All great and 5 star food, service and climate. European food with a Turkish accent. Highly recommended. We will come back.

Bacchus is a wonderful restaurant in Athlone. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service is excellent. The view of the River Shannon adds a special charm to the place. Highly recommended. I’ll definitely be back.

We stopped at Bastion Kitchen in Athlone on our way from Dublin to Galway. We were completely blown away.. honestly, our favorite meal of the entire trip so far, even after dining at a wonderful Michelin-starred restaurant the night before. We ordered the tomato soup of the day, avocado toast, sandwich of the day, and the salad with sweet potato falafel. Every dish was bursting with flavor and clearly made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The drinks were just as impressive: matcha latte, hot chocolate, and almond milk latte.. all beautifully prepared. Warm, welcoming atmosphere and genuinely delicious, healthy food. A must-visit if you're in Athlone!

Incredible food, fast service and lovely atmosphere. Only downside is there are not many places to sit! We had Poached Eggs and Peanut Rayu, and pancakes for breakfast. They do generous sized portions and it’s super tasty! Everything is reasonably priced and great vegetarian and vegan options. Plant based milk is an additional cost.

Such a cute place! The staff is very friendly and the food was amazing. I especially enjoyed the atmosphere here; the way its decorated is so cozy. If I ever visit Ireland again and this area, I will make sure to stop here :)

Wow! This spot is SO good! I had the falafel wrap with the soup - the soup was amazing. My husband had the red lentil hot meal - also super good. The ladies in here are so kind! Definitely check this place out if you are looking for veggie options!

A true gem! I found this place through an Instagrammer’s recommendation and I’m so glad I did. The food is fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious.

Food was delicious. Limited menu Steak and small amount of seafood. I had swordfish it was beautifully cooked the potatoes were yum will be going again to try the prawns and also the steak other members of my group had the steak it looked fantastic although it is on the more expensive side. The staff dealt with our group wonderfully one steak came out medium rather then well done and in a heartbeat it was brought back to the kitchen to be further cooked and when the steak came back so did fresh chips and also a portion of mushrooms for the inconvenience. Couldn't have dealt with it any better at all. Also pictured is the pasta dish which is the vegetarian option on the menu although I did not try it myself I was told it was delicious.

The atmosphere and service at this steakhouse are excellent—staff are attentive, and the place has a really nice vibe. However, the prices are extremely high, especially considering the location and what’s offered. There aren’t many options on the menu, and for nearly €40 per steak, I expected something more substantial. The steak itself was flavorful and tender, but it was disappointingly thin, more like a minute steak than a proper cut you’d expect at that price. The sides and sauces were good, but with such steep prices, I think they should either improve the portion and quality of the steak or offer a wider selection, perhaps even some daily specials. Overall, I’d recommend this restaurant if you’re going for the ambiance and taste, but not if you’re looking for good value for money.

Eating here was like being transported directly to Buenos Aires! The quality of the meat is undeniable, the charred taste the chef achieves is so undeniably Argentinian and I would recommend anyone try 1810 when in Athlone. We had the empanadas, morcilla and chirizo to start, which our 2 and 3 year olds loved. Then the rib eye and the short ribs which were so good that we didn't speak to each other til our plates were empty. The wine and drinks list are great and our sons loved the ice cream. For the price, you couldn't get anything better in Athlone. Staff and owners are delightful and really made a tremendous effort to make our visit a memorable one. 10/10 we'll be back again!

Best new find. Came across 1810 by chance and we were delighted we did. Service was welcoming and considerate (thanks all especially Coco). Great selection of surf and turf meals. Everything was unreal and we will be back to try more. Sadly we only managed one bottle of wine (salentein)

What an awesome place. Quaint Pub and the interior is just what you would expect in a pub this old. Just the history of this place is amazing. Highly suggest going here if you’re in the area and if you’re not in the area then it needs to be on your list.

being the oldest pub in Ireland, naturally Mrs. A & I had stop in for a pint & we are glad we did. The atmosphere was awesome & Timmy, has many fine stories to tell. While it did not seem like the type of place you go looking to talk with locals, we met people from Canada, AU, US & Scotland, all enjoying the moment. The oldest pub in the world!! We knew we had to make a stop here on our way from Ashford to Powerscourt. It did not disappoint. There are wood chips on the floor, great decor everywhere you look, part of the original wall of the building, plus they have a great outdoor-ish area if you walk all the way through. We are so happy that we stopped here to take in this bit of history!!

A very neat experience, to say, you've had a pint of Irish's finest at the oldest standing bar in Ireland 🇮🇪 We enjoyed a quite drink in the back booth. Looking at the treasures found on the walls and relishing in the entire experience. Of how many passersby's have come through this place, and how many more to come.

We're here because it's the oldest. You're at, or going to Sean's, because it's the oldest in Ireland. The bartenders were nice and informative, though he didn't know what that doohickey above the window was. But it doesn't matter, just look at the head I got. It's my birthday, so that birthday head. My wife, brother-in-law and sister-in-law went to Europe in 2019. One of our goals was to see the world’s oldest bar - Sean’s Bar! Not only where we met with such friendliness, but we learned the history of that bar from Timmy. Incredible experience! He brought life to that bar and the region. We all received a certificate of pouring the perfect pint of Guinness and what a tasty pint it was. We also tried their whiskey that is made like how the originators made whiskey. Some of the smoothest single malt whiskey I’ve ever had. We cannot wait to visit again one day and we sure will!

Decent spot. Athlone was awfie busy but this place was able to squeeze us in. Food was alright, think a lot of it pre-made / bought in. For example the starters were wee deep fried bits which tasted nice but think you can get them frozen in the supervalue. Chicken wings felt like an odd addition to the plate, the brown bits (unknown meat) was a tad cold and overcooked. The curry and rice were the standout, that was packed wi lovely flavours, just slightly disappointed that this sharing platter only let you try the one curry. Tatties were nice enough as well. Biggest disappointment was the bread however. Looked and tasted like prepackaged pita. Was really hoping for some fresh bread out the tandoor but sadly not. Overall service was class, folk were very friendly and helped us get a table when everything else was packed. Drinks were overpriced considering they were beer and wine from lidl, and food was all ok, nothing I would be dying to return for. Plus dear, but think that’s just an athlone thing. Cheers regardless!

Amazing, utterly amazing. I cannot begin to describe the dining experience here. An extensive menu that will lead to amazing tastes no matter what you order. On arriving at Al Mezza the distinctive exterior greets you from a distance. You'll have no trouble in knowing you've found the right location. The interior décor will give you plenty to admire and sets a lovely atmosphere for your dining experience. The menu is extensive but not onerous. Descriptions of each dish are there to help you if needed. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The chef clearly is a genius even if the portion size is a little small. The flavours, textures and visual presentation more than make up for this. Do yourself a favour, go here and enjoy yourself with a taste experience that will be hard to beat in Ireland. I'd give Al Mezza 10 stars if I could. Can't wait to return.

Fabulous fresh tasty authentic Lebanese food prepared and cooked with so much love. Everything is presented so well also which is so important. We tried the Mezza of 12 dishes for two people. This was a mix of starters and some mains. For three of us this was plenty. The service was excellent. Will be back again. Thank you

Very good food quality...very small amount...too expensive with the given amount...the waiter is very rude in his way of talking and presenting the food...we left the place like we didn't eat(hungry)!! In the picture only this small amount costs 60 euros!

My family was visiting from the USA. Our 16 year old is gluten free. We've had some challenges finding meals for her during our trip, but Al Mezza was fantastic. Lots of gluten free options identified on the menu (or easily changeable to gluten free). All 4 of us loved the food. Very tasty and fresh. Would highly recommend.

Jalan Jalan truly delivers an exceptional dining experience.The veg sushi was surprisingly good. Nasi Goreng is a must try item from the menu. Also tried the Thai sweet chilli chicken..which was soo good but a bit too sweet. It comes with rice or Noodles. I also tried Sake for the first time. Overall had a great experience.

First time I was here and I will be back... I was talked into coming here by my other half and to be honest, I was starving and didn't want to waste the evening.....well I was proved wrong!!! It was amazing from the get go.... Staff are super friendly, professional and are on hand to help. Food is out of this world and the only thing I can give out about was.....I couldn't finish it as I was full with the amount we got......🫣 What a bargain for buck here. An amazing setting for that romantic meal or even just meals between friends. Well done here folks..... You've created perfection in a restaurant!!! 10/10

DON'T TRY THIS RESTAURANT EVER. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE We had a terrible experience at the restaurant. The waiter was disrespectful and served us extremely spicy dishes that could seriously harm someone. I am not joking; the spice was dangerously high. This wasn't the first time we faced this problem at the restaurant. We gave it another try to see if we made a mistake with our order the last time, but the experience was the same. The waiter insisted we try their chili chicken, claiming it was their best dish, but please don't listen to him. We asked the waiter about the spice level this time, and he said it was suitable for Irish people, meaning it wouldn't be too spicy. However, as soon as we tasted the food, it made us sweat and brought tears to our eyes. We had to ask for yogurt because everyone's eyes were watery and our faces turned red. The waiter even laughed at us. It was a horrible experience, and we believe this restaurant should be shut down because their food could seriously make someone sick. We left all the main dishes - chicken kolhapuri, chicken vindaloo, and chana masala - and still paid the full price. We were so hungry, but we couldn't eat the food there. We strongly advise against going to this restaurant.

We have been here many times and the food very good. However it was a long wait for our order and seemed slightly different taste to what we usually have (the Jalfezi) The water in the pitcher tasted very strange so we couldn't drink it Overall a great Indian restaurant 😋

Takeaway food is getting more and more expensive and sometimes the quality doesn't justify the price. Not so with Silver Oak - the quality and quantity of their food is fantastic, with the Tandoori Chicken and Saag Peneer being my favorites. Best Indian in Athlone, highly recommended A+++

When we finished with our dinner staff came on our table and asked that they are preparing golgappa and lastly they served filled golgappas with green spicy water. They have great set of people. We’ve been in Ireland for almost a week, and today we’re heading back to the airport. On the way, we stopped here for a meal—and I am so glad we didn’t come here first. If we had, every other meal on our trip would’ve felt like a letdown in comparison. Absolutely everything was amazing. This place is a true hidden gem, tucked away off the beaten path. If you're in the area and appreciate genuinely great food, trust me—make the stop. Your palate will thank you.

Great morning spot. French Toast with fresh fruit, bacon, snd maple syrup was yummy. Hubby had omelette and potatoes. The vanilla latte and mochas were also tasty and even seconds to go:)

The best place for breakfast, lunch, or a quick stop if you’re traveling in the area! 5* The staff is incredibly friendly, and the food is top-notch. I often find it hard to get a good cappuccino, but this place truly surprised me (probably one of the best I’ve ever had) The top floor has a rustic and COZY atmosphere, perfect for groups of 5 or more. Their bakery is amazing, offering a variety of delicious options. I highly recommend their croissants and the ‘Breakfast BAP’!

After a long walk by the canal, we were looking for somewhere to get coffee and cake. Freshly made. Not full of preservatives. We walked past so many that just didn’t fit the bill, then came across this place. What a gem! The deep-filled apple & berries pie was superb: moist and not too sweet. The blueberry & almond slice was also delicious: again, nice and moist and not too sweet. We went for flat white coffee. Perfect temperature and a tasty roast, if a little strong. Thoroughly recommend this place.

The Savoury Fair Athlone an Absolute Pleasure to Visit you can Feed me anytime…… I visited Savoury Fair Athlone for the first time and it was an Absolute Pleasure to have my Breakfast in this Amazing Restaurant My usual place is The Poppy Fields but they had a fire in their kitchens so it’s out of order for the foreseeable….. The Savoury Fair Restaurant Food Wise and the different platters available is Excellent everything to suit everyone’s Palate and the Hygiene was 100% all round The Quality / Service and the Floor Staff were Absolutely Fantastic coming around asking if I wanted any more Breakfast / Top Up my Hot Strong Tea which I ordered or more Toast Their is Two Floors Ground and First Floor Fully Serviced by the Floor Staff The First Floor looks over the Entrance to the Cafe through an Atrium great idea The Crockery is So Quaint and Colourful ( pics attached ) This Restaurant has Everything Humanly Possible to Delight Everyone who enters the premises Keep Up the Fantastic Work Guys We all want to see The Poppy Fields Resturant opening as soon as possible as it is also a Fantastic Eating Tradition here in Athlone So I am sure they will come back better if possible as soon as possible Good Luck The Poppy Fields looking forward to eating with you soon ….

My Husband, my son and I stopped here for dinner passing through Athlone. The food was gorgeous. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. Very fast service. Lovely old Irish style premises. Could not fault it in any way.

Popped in here as a pit stop from travelling from the southeast to the northwest this Christmas. We all had the fish and chips which was nice. I remember we have four different servers come to our table, which could be a sign they are very attentive or have nothing to do. My overall impression was it was okay and I couldn’t say anything particularly negative but on leaving we all agreed it wouldn’t be our first choice. I remember the bill came to €69 which includes drinks and a side portion of onion rings. So if you are looking for a place with nice (not fantastic) food at a reasonable price this is the place for you. It also should be mentioned the free parking and friendly staff are a big plus.

There is free parking outside. The place has a nice and cosy feel. It was very hot but better than being cold, i suppose. The servers were polite. We did have 4 of them during our visit. The food was ok, it was nicely presented but I feel the quality of the ingredients don't warrant the price they are charging. I've had way nicer, and the food wouldn't entice me back, to be honest. A pet hate is when 1 person is still eating and the others have finished, and the server tries to clear the table around you. I had to ask her to wait, and I started to feel uncomfortable as she kept walking past. None of us finished the food, and we were asked if we would like it boxed to take with us. That was a nice touch. There was a good selection on the menu but different from the 2023 menu on the web page.

Amazing place. Been frequenting for the last 20 odd years and it is also a great place to get food and a few pints. The only complaints I have are that it is so dark inside, which of course adds to the lovely atmosphere but just annoys me. The other complaint is the price. Prices are gone up everywhere in Ireland, but I still feel like the food is expensive here. Now that being said, the food is absolutely gorgeous and the portions are very generous. The kids even asked could they go back again, it is that good.

Really great traditional Irish pub with lots of character, friendly staff, and absolutely amazing food. I had the burger and fries and it was delicious! Comes with a perfect side salad with a super tasty potato salad! Definitely recommend this place!!

Food was delicious and large portioned. Decently priced pints. Food prices were a little steep (so 1 star off). Chicken burger and sweet potato fries were great. Free bread for the table. Kids goujons and chips was an adult size serving. Nice outdoor patio right out front. Dog friendly patio.

On our way to Galway we stopped in Athlon to see the sights. Unfortunately the castle was closed today, but a walk around was in order. We stopped here for lunch as it looked good. We were not disappointed. Great fish and chips and the veg soup was tasty too!

Rustic style restaurant, small but cosy, food was nice and tasty. Fishpie was good, big portion, with bit of salad.

We ordered a chowder as a starter. First of all, it was overpriced — €17 for a soup is not a normal price. We waited for it for 30 minutes, even though there were no other guests in the restaurant at the time. In the end, we got something, but definitely not a chowder. It was more like a vegetable soup with salmon. When we asked the waiter about it, he insisted that everything was correct and that there was no mistake. Our questions about the missing cream were ignored, and instead they just brought us a cup of cream on the side. P.s: Prices on the street are at least twice lower than in the menu.

I’ve never had Irish food, but wow this food was great, very tasty, I had an Irish stew and was I impressed.

Absolutely yummers!!!💃 I couldn’t help but dance my way through my wondrous feed! Came here twice and I had to get the same as last time and that’s the VEGAN BREAKFAST !🗣️ a beautiful assembly of incredible ingredients! That nourished my soul… to dancing in my chair! And beautiful staff! I was met with the same wonderful girl with red hair! RED HAIR GIRL! thank thank you! Adds to the experience! Would be nice if it was warmer especially on them chilly days but the interior almost makes up for it.. but it would be a cherry on top! Quite expensive but if you’re looking for a good breakfast and a nice Irish one with a twist for my lovely vegans! 🌱 STOP no future 👀

Absolutely brilliant place to watch the Ryder Cup. The staff are top class and reserved an area for our group. We Brought pizzas in from a neighbouring restaurant and there was no issue.

We went for Friends hens weekend gone , and stopped in here on the Friday night with view to moving on for pub crawl , Guy behind bar by name of Boston was giving us insight as to where is good etc , but as it turned out he blasted the music up and the craic was just nighty so we stayed , this combined with the wonderful staff member Ria ( HER NAME WAS RIA LOL , WE KEPT SINGING IT TO THE POOR GIRL ) they could not of being more welcoming and open to having a bit of craic .Unlike Sean's Bar across the way .. thier loss though. we had boat trip booked for the Saturday afternoon, and off boat we came and proceeded to just gravitate towards the Castle again for drinks b4 dinner .Thanks a mill 😘 there was another lad serving us also was lovely just can't think of his name , had red hair and a big smile 😀 x

I thought being gluten intolerant that my fish & chips days were over, then came Gertie's! The lad serving us said his brother is celiac and loves the beer battered cod, totally gluten-free and amazing. The steak and Guinness stew had lovely flavor, but it was a bit light on meat if we're being honest. Would come here once a week for the f & c if we lived here!

Average bar food. U walk through the bar to get to the restaurant part of the place. Staff not the friendliest. We had 2 kid menus and a soup. Portions were big. Brown bread with the soup was hard enough.

Warm up by the fire have a perfect pint and delicious meal… what more could you ask for!! Do yourself a favour and go here!

Gertie Brownes in Athlone has a great atmosphere, perfect for an authentic Irish pub dining experience. The pub food is good—classic, hearty dishes done right—and the friendly staff make the experience even better. got charged 50 euro for 4 shots.. seems a bit outrageous for a very boring nightclub. Staff will their hardest to rip you off even though they make no extra money for it. This place ruins night life for athlone and I hope they can improve in any possible being the only nightclub.

Short security fella is a disgrace. We were outside taking care of some girls cause we dont want to leave them alone. Won’t let us in after for literally no reason at all. Both over 21. We were sadly not the only ones treated poorly by this man. Wouldnt let multiple people in for no apparent reason at all. Sadly won’t tell us his name. Awful rude too..

Very grim nightclub. You’d wanna be locked going in there. Depending on the barman sometimes your spirits were watered down. A gin with soda water was 10.20 and 7.00 for a shot. I didn’t realise it was Stockholm prices in Athlone town centre. 2 stars because the music was good

This is what real pizza tastes like! Light, airy crust, flavorful sauce and toppings. I’ve tried the Margherita and Diavola so far, both amazing - can’t wait to go back for the others. Highly recommend!

My family and I booked a table for their pizza night on Saturday, and let's just say we weren't disappointed!! The owners, Chiara and Roberto, are amazing people, incredibly kind and welcoming. The food is of the highest quality and you can never have enough of it. I am vegetarian, but I was very interested in a pizza that contained meat....whereas other people would not have been as accommodating, Roberto kindly offered to switch pancetta for black olives (which were delicious, by the way😅). Their pizza, as well as all their products, is made with the freshest ingredients and cooked with love. Their desserts are just as wonderful and are all homemade by Chiara following authentic Italian recipes (I really recommend the caprese and torta della nonna). Every Tuesday to Saturday you can expect fresh coffee, cakes and Italian sandwiches, as well as lunch specialities like pasta al forno (Italian pasta bakes) and gnocchi. In short, if you want to experience true Italian cuisine and hospitality, you can't miss this!

The best coffee I ever had in athlone

Such a gorgeous place! Very comfy, great atmosphere, a lot of options to eat and drink, delicious food, the best coffee ever! The staffs are so sweet and very kind! I’ll be back for sure, and I definitely recommend. Everything was beautiful.

The pizza is just chef's kiss. I'm vegan and delighted to see 2 vegan options for the menu (marinara and vegan). It's a weekly appointment I can't miss out. The coffee is authentic Italian espresso. And the staff couldn't be lovelier! The very best to Chiara, Roberto and their family!

Cannot give more stars, well done Chiara and Roberto with the place, as Italian myself and my family, we recognize the dedication and love for the food and the restaurant, that also goes through the true Italian ingredients. Keep it up!

Head of house was funny and seemed friendly , we walked in on a busy sat night and was very accommodating. Service was excellent friendly but professional. Now for the food... one word...superb! From the pork belly to the kangaroo steak. Couldn’t recommend this establishment enough...and also very reasonably priced, will definitely be back,from two very happy customers from Carlingford

Had a very nice meal here. I had fajitas which were very tasty. My wife had a fillet steak which she said was one of the best she has eaten. The waiters were a little stressed and were running around in a bit of a panic but everything came out on time so maybe it was just a very busy night.

WORST restaurant EVER!! Booked table for 7:30pm with my wife & 3 year old son. Arrived at 7:25pm to a long queue. Waited until 7:40 and queried about our table and were told we booked for 7pm (which we didn't). Another 3 groups who arrived after us were seated and we were left standing and being ignored. Then at 7:55pm the next group refused to be seated as we were before them. Then the owner told us our "table is ready" and pointed to a table which had been free the entire time. When I queried this he again said "we booked for 7pm but we can have a good time or we can fight"!! Walked out - absolutely awful. Taxi driver back to hotel told us he heard similar complaints about the owner. Avoid at all costs unless you like to be treated with the worst service imaginable!! Pity I can't rate with negative stars...

Paid a visit to Top Deck on Sun afternoon. What an amazing experience. I was there with my wife Mary, daughter Sarah and brand new Grandaughter Amelia. The staff could not have been more helpful and the food was out of this world. Well done to all..

Warm and quiet place to have some seafood and other Irish variants for the stomach and the heart! They always treat you very gentle and they're so dedicated to make you happy with the service, food and drinks. I personally would like to have a couple of local aetisan beers, but that's just me!

Only visiting athlone and came upon this place by chance. Was bringing my girlfriend for her birthday dinner ,was late coming in at 9.30 when they close at 10 was told to come on in and were seated and shown full menus and where served straight away had starter, main course both of which were really tasty and even tho the chef's had went home the waitress stayed on to serve us and got us desserts,tea also singing happy birthday to my girlfriend. We left around 10.45 (there was no panic even tho we were there 45 mins after closing ) and after three great courses we we're ready to burst. Would definitely eat here again if we were back in athlone. Can't recommend enough 5stars🍴⭐

We had booked for 7..got seated around 730.. for the prices it wasn't good.. I get better food at a pub...bland tasteless steak I got. Waittress not friendy. Not a place to go for a nice quiet meal..very noisy. Dessert wasn't even good.never again..

I was in Athlone on a shopping trip and stopped here for Elevenses, a coffee and scone. I was glad I did, the staff were so friendly.An American tourist popped in for a coffee and to ask about parking in the area.one of the staff was super helpful, even going so far as to cross the street to help him with the ticket machine. The scone was lovely and fresh, I will definitely return and stay longer next time. Congrats on great service.

I stopped into Spill the Beans Café in Athlone and absolutely loved it! The atmosphere was so cute and cozy, perfectly decorated and welcoming. I had an amazing chai latte, one of the best I’ve had anywhere. They also offer a great selection of baked goods, including some lovely gluten-free options, which was such a nice touch. It’s the kind of place you could easily spend an afternoon relaxing or catching up with friends. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!

Both the best coffee and the best hot chocolate we had during our trip. Very cozy coffee, many plant-based milk alternatives, a cozy atmosphere, and the snacks and sweets were also delicious. A definite recommendation!

We had such a wonderful experience at this Irish pub! From the moment we arrived, the ambience and atmosphere were spot on—warm, inviting, and lively without being overwhelming. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, and even though we hadn’t reserved a table, they managed to seat us on the terrace. For starters, we shared two salads, both of which were fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor. For mains, we went with the chicken and the Korean-style salmon. Both dishes were outstanding: the chicken was juicy and tender, while the salmon was cooked to perfection with a beautifully balanced sauce that gave it just the right amount of kick. On top of that, we received three additional side dishes to share—crispy fries, perfectly cooked vegetables, and a fragrant saffron rice—that rounded out the meal beautifully. Every plate that came to the table felt well-prepared and thoughtfully put together. Overall, I was genuinely impressed by the combination of high-quality food, excellent service, and a great atmosphere. This gorgeous little gem, situated in a building that was once a bakery in the 1700’s, is an excellent little pub! Very busy and full of locals, always a good sign! All the food was fabulous, the service and ambiance the same! Definitely make a point to stop in here if you’re passing through.

Place was very busy on a Sunday afternoon, staff were excellent, pleasant and welcoming. Food and Drink was perfect and value for money. Would highly recommend 👌

Great food, good atmosphere. 4 of us ate here and it was a very good experience. Only issue was one of us received an over cooked dish, we asked the floor manager to check and she had the meal re-made fresh ASAP. We had starters and mains, pricing was very fair. Plus the Guinness was very tasty here. I would revisit in the future.

Stopped off en route West early on a Friday afternoon, 3 adults, 1 teenager. A cosy table by the stove, delicious home cooked food (Guinness walnut bread, homemade veg soup, calamari & prawns, fresh fish & house wedges, mussels, organic salmon, crisp crumbed Brie - what’s not to love ?!). Joan had everything under control, nothing was a problem, efficient, friendly & funny, a lovely person to encounter. .. sure we might see you on the way back to Meath !

Great food, lovely pub and good pints

We came in with a group of people for lunch on a weekday. The service was quick and attentive. We ordered Calamari and prawns, the Irish stew and Steak sandwich. The portions were generous and food was really tasty.

Went here twice had horrible experience here both times. Staff are barely staff as they make the consumer do all the work on your phone, might as well ordered from a delivery app. First time i went i was having a really personal conversation with a friend and the staff interrupted our conversation three times to ask us how we found the food. Furthermore even though i wasn't finished my food they kept insisting they needed to take my plate despite the fact i will still using it. I said no, they then asked me again 3 minutes later when i was obviously still esting. Second experience was worse as despite doing everything on the phone correctly and ordering, the staff decided to give my friend chai tea as opposed to a chai latte then said if she wanted what she had already ordered and paid for she would have to order and pay again to cover the cost of the businesses mistake! Furthermore after my friend pointed out the error the staff person she was taljing to said "let me go see what happened" and left for 25mins and had different staff member come out to tell my friend she would need to pay extra. Extremely disrespectful of the waitress to leave and not even bother coming back after the mistake herslef. Also when we asked the staff questions about the food e.g how many pieces of bacon does this meal have they told us an incorrect amount, causing us to order and pay for extra bacon on the website (because staff don't take orders) then we had much more bafon than the amount the staff said we would have. Causing the food to be wasted. Staff once again insisted on taking my plate as i was using it and actively eating. After ordering on the website the website asks u to leave a tip by default. However why should i tip a waiter/waitress for taking my order when I'm ordering the food myself on my own personal Internet data connection. Will never go here again.

Nice staff, good food and not too expensive. But the QR code / website system for ordering is awful. There’s also a large touchscreen by the counter where you can order. But its more like McDonald’s than a nice town centre cafe. The fact that it automatically adds a 20% tip is particularly annoying. If the waiting staff could take the orders instead of a computer, it would be a 5 star cafe. But it’s badly let down by the IT.

Lovely food, tasty, fresh and top quality service. Very fast for such quality food. Exceptionally friendly staff , every staff member from opening the front door said Hello, we sat upstairs, nice bright room again, very friendly staff upstairs, when we were going all said goodbye and thanked us for coming. When we had started to eat- within a few minutes, we were asked if everything was alright, we were happy with the food and did we want anything else. Obviously the owner/manager/staff put a-lot of effort in. (Not that fussed on the QR ordering-the food and friendliness make up for this but it’s just something I personally don’t like in a restaurant)

This was a lovely breakfast and came with two pieces of toast with vegan butter. I enjoyed everything, but didn’t eat the guac. I wasn’t sure what it was for. The falafels weren’t dry, and the chili was tasty. The hot tea that came with it was also good. They are unable to serve tap water due to construction near the restaurant which also seemed to block some of the view. The team was very kind and courteous about the inconvenience.

I really don’t like to leave bad reviews but Like others have said, this place had a great reputation so we decided to call for lunch. I was shocked to be guided to a table when it wasn’t busy to then be told if you wanted to pay by card you had to use the kiosk screen, which also was above the head of a lady who was eating her lunch and it felt very rude leaning over her. We apologised to her and she stood up to move out of our way. For a small business that used to have great character this was very disappointing. There was at least 3 lovely staff members going around with headsets which was strange and that could easily have taken our order. I couldn’t believe then after ordering and you go to pay it asks you want percentage of a tip you would like to give… what exactly are we tipping? There was no service prior to this. I also ordered poached eggs on sourdough toast and the toast came out 10 minutes before the eggs? Very strange. I love to support local businesses but I feel after this experience I won’t be back.

I didn’t like that you are basically forced to order with a QR Code based online system, while literally adding your order to a cart on a website (in a restaurant!) if you wanna pay with cash, you have to walk to the counter, and order there. I’d understand all this if it would be a big restaurant, but it’s around 50 sqm so i don’t get it why they need to use all these useless tech. If i was in their place, i’d just operate this venue in the old way, without all this QR nonsense. Food and the general vibe are good.

Had few breakfasts there, lunch and now dinner. Food was always fast enough, and good taste. Service is very good,young and polite staff. Always very friendly and with smile on their face. Very approachable and helpful. This dinner was very very good, steak was absolutely perfectly done and it was pure pleasure to eat. All the combination on the plate was just perfection. Buddha salad with chicken was decent, nothing special. From all the dishes I eat there it was my least favourite but still decent salad. One of the ingredients were avocado 🥑 what was barely put on the salad and my reason I ordered salad was literally just avocado as I had munchies that day to eat avocado. So wasn't my favourite dish. Dish that is not on the pictures but I had it few weeks ago was tortellini wrap with fries and that was absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend steak or tortilla wraps.

Restaurant with a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. There is two floors so the restaurant can accommodate for a number of customers. There is an accomodating menu. Food is served in good proportion, of good quality, but possibly a bit on the pricey side. I appreciated the thought of supplying products to women in the bathroom which shows a caring attitude of the manager :).

Suday morning brunch has become a tradition at the Corner House Bistro. Coffee made with care, and quality. Crispy backon, on soft pancakes. What's better then this to start a Sunday? Very warm inside, I suggest to book for brunch or lunch in the weekends.

Best soup and hand-cut chips in town! The pulled pork and chicken fillet mains were succulent, and served with warm smiles behind masks. Loved the outdoor setting.

We ended up here by chance at Lunch. The food is tasty and fresh. The only thing is that the fish could have been cooked a bit better, which is why we gave it one star. Location is a plus.

Went to River View Bistro in Athlone for lunch today — our second time here, and it was just as good as the first! 😍 We ordered the veg pasta and veg focaccia, and honestly, who says vegetarian food isn’t good? Give it a try and you’ll know! The garlic bread was so soft and buttery, and pairing it with the pasta was just chef’s kiss 👌✨

Busy little bistro, amazing location, close to river Shannon and Athlone castle. Sean's pub is next door. Good spot for brunch or lunch. Tables felt little bit too close to each other. Service was Ok, slower. Meals were good, tasty. There was only one problem and that was the state of the toilets. Dusty and dirty.

It doesn’t look like much, but the food… absolutely amazing! We got soup of the day, it was vegetable one, very tasty, we also got chicken goujons with chips, which were delicious too. Their vegetarian curry is one of the best ones I ever had Delicious brownie and ice cream had summarised the feast. Staff is really nice, friendly, polite and professional. Definitely recommend this place for one, date or all family

The only thing worse than the food was the service. The steak (over 30 euros) was a freezer burnt chunk of meat. Ordered medium rare, it was well done. Inedible. The steak sandwich was gristly chunks of overcooked meat served cold. We asked for our drinks three times. After eating the few bites we were willing to try, we wanted the check and to just leave. Then they brought drinks after our dishes had already been collected. Flat beer. We ate almost no food and couldn’t choke down the beers. Trying to tell the server didn’t help. Repeatedly expressed our unhappiness, they don’t care at all. So disappointing.

What a find. Dont judge a book by the cover, ignore the mustard yellow outside. Bar is lovely inside. Cocktails are amazing. Both staff are very friendly and go above and beyond to help. Great atmosphere and great fun and banter with staff. Highly recommend to anyone

We love it here! Food and drinks are great and the prices are affordable. There is a wide range of food on the menu and the cocktails from the tab are also great. Highly to recommend is the Passion Fruit Martini (or better known as Pornstar Martini). If you should visit Athlone (as we did), Murphy's Law is a must!

Gorgeous spot for food in centre of Athlone..... parked in Town Centre car park and it was across the road. Great choice on the menu......well worth a visit 👍👍 the roast beef dinner served in a gigantic yorkshire pudding.... 😋😋...... the carbonara was scrumptious as the gougons and chips..... very full after. No room for dessert 🤔🤔☹☹...... next time. 🤩🤩

The beef patty in the burger was extremely dry and burnt on the edges. You could taste the fat granules, couldn't work my way through it. Easily one of the worst burgers I've had. The staff didn't seem to be surprised nor care a bit. Definitely not something I'd like to experience again.

Rude staff, mediocre food, chain restaurant feeling. Would not recommend and will not be returning. Asked for water and had to ask a second time to receive it. Staff was not thoughtful, rather quite rude and not patient. Food tasted mediocre, Caesar salad was doused in salad dressing, fajitas tasted like Asian sauce, and no marmalade or jam was supplied for the toast of the Irish breakfast.

Lovely breakfasts here, I would highly recommend the omelette! Quite busy on a Sunday so be prepared for a small wait, time dependant. Staff were polite & prompt.

There is so many good things on this menu that it was pretty different to pick one thing! Which is a good sign. Its always a good thing if a restaurant is packed because the food must be good! I ordered the "Murphys Mex" and it was pretty good! The burger was pretty juicy, not too salty but if course very fatty! Which is normal on a burger. So much food that it was hard to finish the meal but its doable! Staff was very friendly. Really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend this place.

I visited Athlone for the first time last weekend with my friends, and we were looking for a place to eat when we found Di Bella, an Italian restaurant. The ambiance was decent, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered garlic bread with cheese, pasta, and Coca-Cola. Unfortunately, the garlic bread was the worst I’ve ever seen—it was just plain white bread with cheese on top, and the quality was very poor. It tasted bland and completely missed the mark. At that point, I lost all hope for the meal. The pasta was slightly better than the garlic bread but still very basic and underwhelming, especially considering this is an Italian restaurant. It lacked the authentic flavors I was expecting. The only good thing? The Coca-Cola. Overall, a very disappointing experience. The food was low quality and lacked taste, and I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for a proper Italian meal.

We enjoyed our dinner here last night. You may wait to be seated at the entrance. We originally did not see the sign since there were some ladies talking in that spot, so we walked in and were asked to wait. We ordered the garlic bread with cheese to start. Everything was perfect. From food to service and atmosphere. It was quiet but we loved it. Pasta was absolutely delicious, especially spinach ravioli were very tasty. Also the recommended garlic foccacia complimented our dishes perfectly. Very nice Italian food.

I really enjoyed the food at Di Belle — everything was delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely. The service was also very good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, I accidentally left my very expensive sunglasses there, and they were later given by mistake to another customer. I’m quite sad about that, but overall it’s still a nice place and I would recommend it for the good food and warm atmosphere.

The best carbonara I’ve had since I visited Italy 2 years ago! All pastas are made fresh daily and it shows. Nice wine list, and the crème brûlée dessert was delectable. A great gem!

Don't eat here! A recent meal of beef burger and bangers & mash had spoiled / smelly meat. When told about the issue, the manager was less than helpful and made the situation worse with his attitude.

Lovely setting and location. Staff were nice. Food for me was disappointing, salad wasn't fresh, Thai fish cake wasn't heated enough it was cold in the centre. The 10oz steak was very nice, good quality but under cooked for my taste, ordered well done, but not close to it. Desert was very nice. Other members of the party enjoyed their meal. The pub upstairs is one of the best in the town to go for a social drink afterwards

Quaint restaurant with great atmosphere and friendly tentative staff. The food was excellent, I had a chicken strip starter which was genuinely one of the best I’ve had. The steak was cooked correctly and was tender and full of flavour. I would highly recommend anyone to come and eat here, it was packed on a Wednesday!! Had food at the Glasson LakeHouse the night before and the food at The Villager was miles better and better value.

I don't know what's with Westmeath, but they must have an abundance of food. Great place for a zombie apocalypse if it ever comes to it. Again, the portion sizes are nice and chonky and the food is great too. We may or may not have had to cancel twice on them before this due to unforeseen circumstances. Hope they ain't mad about that.

This is a beautiful restaurant. The restaurant is warm and friendly. The food quality/flavour is fantastic, and the presentation is truly outstanding. Of course, food like that, needs service that is comparably outstanding and the service team definitely fit that bill. The staff are "on the ball" with service but they still have time to engage in jovial conversation. They are knowledgeable about the food and couldn't be more helpful. After our meal, we moved to the bar for some live music. We had a fabulous evening at the Villager and we will be racing back for more

We are from London and were on our mini-moon staying nearby and i was reccomended this restaurant by my cousin who lives locally and wow it did not dissapoint! The food was some of the best food we have ever had - we didn't want it to end. I got the most amazing starter (we were told after it was first day of a new menu) and we both opted for steaks..unfortunately we couldn't fit in dessert! Lovley atmosphere and loved the background music, staff very friendly too. Also very reasonably priced for decent size portions. Can't wait to come back next time we are over!

Nice spot for a quick coffee. We stopped for breakfast. I had the French toast, OH had the full Irish. The French toast wasn't anything special, just the basic eggy bread type option. Which was fine with the maple syrup on the side. But it was lacking the oomph I'd had elsewhere. OH had the full Irish and it was adequate, no potatoes as listed but I think they had none as other plates going out were lacking too. OH requested no tomatoes and this was lucky as a table behind us received 5 tomatoes that looked like they came from a tin. Nothing wrong with tinned tomatoes but they can be very strong and for breakfast, a bit rich. The coffee was flavourful and I would come back for coffee. Paid Parking is available to the side or across the road. There is free parking across in Golden Island as well

A decent place to have breakfast, went in seeing good Google reviews, no parking nevertheless (that’s not the reason for the 2 star - but bad experience). A few items they serve are good - for example the eggs benedict. But too many blunders on the same day that forces me to give a 2 star. - Ordered a vegetable soup and got it served with bacon strips - wow! - Ordered fresh orange juice - supposedly their specialty and got served with 50% filled with just ice and the rest of the juice tasting just ok. - Tried to call the staff for 10 mins without any use, to ask what was in the soup! - The prices were high given the location and service May be it was a bad day for them, but based on my experience it’s only a 2 star.

Good place for a brunch. They gave ample seating. Parking available in the shopping area opposite to coffee haven. Most of the food is delicious. The Chicken Vol-au-Vonts was a standout dish. The white sauce went well with the chicken stuffed pastry. The pancakes, eggs Benedict and vegetarian pasta were nice as well. The soup can be avoided. We did have a couple of hassles as well: - the staff was not very attentive - we didn’t get water till we explicitly asked at the end of the meal - when we asked about the soup of the day - it was told the soup is vegetarian - but for some reason they decided to put some bacon bits in it which seemed absurd in a vegetarian soup, they however replaced it when it was brought to their attention.

Nino - owner - showed us to our table (nice the way the restaurant is split into sections) and talked us through the background of the fascinating pieces on display - Italian pieces from their family as well as vintage miniature cars We were served promptly and were delighted when the food arrived - delicious carbonara, chicken wings, chicken burger. Tasty and filling. I would have taken a photo of the carbonara but it was too tasty to wait! Recommend for great food if you are in Athlone

Very disappointing food. I ordered the cannelloni and the picture says a thousand words. Pasta was like mush it had no texture, the meat was dry, sauce has zero depth or flavour to it and the salad looked like it had been out all week. The only reason they get even two stars is because of the staff, the owner was so nice, even gave a free bottle of wine for the table as it was my girlfriends birthday so this makes the review hard to give but I must be honest, the food was very poor. Personally I will not be returning.

Great pizza, great pasta. When the boss is in, expect to hear a lot of Pavarotti. I recommend to ask for the grappa. I did not find it on the menu, and the waitresses did not know about it, but they do have it.

Food was decent. Staff nice, but very unaware and not very attentive. Took 20 minutes to order dessert after mains due to staff not noticing we were finished mains. Asked for dessert menu, but had to ask a second time and a different staff member. When eventually got the dessert menu the staff member did not follow up to take order. Had to wait and try get attention of another staff member. Wasted about 20 minutes in total. Bizarre carry on 😅

Delicious meal. Tortellini was fantastic. Mash and veg were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Soup was so creamy and crumble was to die for. Endless amount of bread and butter. Staff were very accommodating and very nice. We had a large gathering and handled it perfectly. Have nothing bad to say about meal.

We were a party of 20, mixture of adults, teens and children for my mums birthday celebration. We had such an excellent dining experience. Lovely menu, fantastic friendly staff and delicious food. 3 generations had a quick bite here after a spot of shopping. The adults of the group hadn't eaten here in years and the 2 children had never been here before. We ordered 2 seafood chowders at €7.95 each. We could choose between brown bread or garlic bread which I thought was a lovely touch. My mother and I were impressed by the flavourful chowder which had plenty of fish chunks in it. The kids (aged 5.5 and 3.5 yrs) shared a chicken goujons and chips at €6.95 between them. They enjoyed it and asked when could they come back before we had even left. We ordered water for the table. Staff were efficient. There was a lovely atmosphere to the cafe both inside and outside (where we sat). Overall, we really enjoyed our quick bite here and would recommend it for being family friendly, reasonable and for the tasty chowder. Keep doing what you are doing. Maith thú.

I had a really delicious breakfast of French toast with bacon, real Maple syrup and two fruits. It was so light and freshly cooked, beautifully presented and so tasty. I felt very satisfied together with a flat white I was set up for the day. Congrats on keeping your standards high. Geraldine it’s lovely when you are there but your staff are also efficient and friendly. Poppyfields is a gem to have in Athlone. I would recommend breakfast here for sure.

The best cafe in Athlone! The food is amazing my wife is Italian and she Loved the sausage rolls and that's some compliment if an Italian likes any other food that is not Italian. The service is so friendly and the prices so reasonable, a real jewel to come and visit when your tired and want to sit down and have a coffee of something to eat. It wasn't busy the afternoon we visited but we still had to wait ages to order. Thinking it was self service, we went inside to order and the girl claimed she didn't see us (3 people). She was surly and gave us the impression that we were inconveniencing her. The food was good but rather pricey for the portions.

Lovely family restaurant in Midlands. Some nice nostalgic South Indian dishes e.g. Idiappam, Dosa etc. and the Indian Dal. Nice complementing selection of beverages. Definitely ask for the south-Indian menu. The staff is extremely courteous and caters to individual spice levels.

Me and my family recently had the pleasure of dining there, and every bite was a delicious reminder of the depth and diversity of Indian flavors. I started with a parotta, which was really flaky. Next came the beef roast, it was cooked to perfection. It took me back to Kerala. But the standout for me was the fish fry in banana leaf. The fish curry I tried afterward was simply exceptional, one of the best i had in any restaurant. The staff were warm and attentive. Overall it was a wonderful experience. Whether you're a long-time fan of Indian cuisine or new to its wonders, Spice India is a must-visit.

We regularly visit Spice India when we crave for authentic Indian food and they have never failed to meet our expectations. All the meats are very fresh and well prepared. We are especially fond of all the South Indian cuisines which are hard to come by in Ireland. Especially love the Fish polichattu 😍 Definitely recommend every seafood lovers to try it at least once.

Malabar style buffet is a treat and worthy for the value we pay. All the options provided for the buffet was delicious, will recommend it 😊

I felt it was time to leave a review, myself and my partner get takeaway from this restaurant regularly, they are always super quick and the staff, although often very busy, manage to get your order ready within 10-15 minutes. The crispy shredded chicken is the best in Athlone!!

Absolutely delicious meal. We had the duck and Singapore noodles. Also banana and pineapple fritters which I haven’t had for years. Really really good Chinese food. Will be back!

Ranch style restaurant. You almost forget you're in Ireland. Lots of trivia about the legends of wild west, kids enjoyed menu and delicious shakes. Great customer service, really nice to the kids. If you like grill/steaks/ burgers it's great stopover and a change from the usual. Very central and easy to get to with parking and laser zone next door

Thr themed restaurant is nice and looks good but unfortunately that's where the compliments end. The food was disgusting, I had the steak asked for medium. What I received was a cheap cut of steak with lots of inedible fat. It was cooked above well-done like eating chewing gum. The mushrooms and onions were the opposite they were undercooked/almost raw. My son had nachos which he loves but he barley ate anything as it was so bad. Luckily the staff forgot to charge for half the meal but I still overpaid. McDonald's is luxury dining compared to this dump. Don't waste your money on these cowboys

Fantastic decor that transports you to the wild west. Staff where very friendly and attentive. Food was ok burgers where very tasty but shoestring chips where a bit of a let down. The kids deal on Saturdays is much appreciated when on a budget. Overall I would go back again but would hope chips would be improved.

We waited very long for the food, considering it's not a busy night (we arrive around 6pm on Monday). Beef Nachos was dry Buffalo wings taste a little too sweet. We ordered 3 burgers, and they were below expectations. The 10 hours ribs was tender but the "smokey taste" wasn't there. Fries were tasteless.

2nd visit. I wonder if they have better chef on weekend. I visited midweek this time and was very disappointed. BBQ chicken wings - sauce was not good. Chicken Fajita tower - sauce was not very nice very tomato based and low on flavour, only a small number of tortillas. Carbonara was ok. Corn on the cob was warm on the outside and freezing in the middle, like fridge cold. Asked for a replacement that never came. There was also a group of about 5 seated behind us, each with a phone playing videos at full volume, no regard for others around them, and no hint of them being asked to turn it down. Pros: Great location in middle of town, beside a cool entertainment centre. The theme of restaurant is cute. The music matches nicely. Interesting selection on menu. Genuinely enjoyed food and few months back on a weekend visit. Not blown away but it was good, and I was happy to visit again, but this time was just not nice. NB this is a Pepsi restaurant, not coke, for anyone who has a preference either way! NB Paid parking outside must be done via app or QR code as machines have been broken for months.

We stayed at the Sheraton/Marriott for a night on our driving loop of Ireland and had both an early bird dinner for 31.95€ a person and a booked ahead buffet breakfast at this restaurant and both provided very good food. We booked the three course dinner and chose 1- pine nut salad & chicken wings; 2 - salmon with veggies & beef spare rib dinners; 3 - gf sorbet & chocolate caramel cake with ice cream. Service was efficient and the food and portion sizes were generous. I was able to have everything including a starter bread gf 😀. In the morning a beautiful hot and cold buffet breakfast was full of options - I regret not taking a picture. You could make any type of specialty coffee or have the wait staff bring you tea or coffee. It was a great start the travel day breakfast. 😋😀

Got food delivered to us last night at our hotel as our hotel didn’t have a good variety. Needless to say worst experience I’ve had. The chicken in my spice bag tasted weird, like it had been re-freezed. My boyfriend ordered sweet and sour chicken and while he didn’t complain about the flavour at the time we both felt awful this morning. Some big toilet troubles really was just the cherry on top of this mediocre (if I’m being nice) takeaway.

Great Chinese in Athlone, food was quick and delicious. Service was excellent.

Went for a spontaneous dinner with the partner in Kens Athlone. Waitress was friendly, service was quite quick. We ordered; Sweet and sour shredded chicken with egg fried rice. Plum sauce shredded chicken with egg fried rice. 1 west coast cooler rosè. The total was €38.80. We rang to see what the story was, as our receipt only had the total cost with no price breakdown. The lady explained had we got take away it would’ve been €24.50. We were charged an extra €14.30 due to the fact we sat in. For the price alone, I would definitely not recommend, especially when there is nicer restaurants in the town for much better value.

The area is very hidden in Athlone, so not many people really see it. You go in and they seat you down. Asking them a question is like your threatening them. They get all aggressive. I was just trying to ask about the soup and they were shouting at me. We just ordered a starter. It was fine. Looking around the area is fine. The waitress brought us water. There were dust particles in the glass. Overall I'm never going back there. They were so aggressive.

Ok positively the food is wonderful really cannot fault it. Now positive criticism PLEASE can you do something about the restaurant. I want to go out for a Chinese and feel like I'm eating in a Chinese restaurant. There is zero atmosphere zero ambience. It doesn't make sense to own such a great business and not take pride in it! It wouldn't cost much to add some traditional Chinese tablecloths, and serve your food on Chinese designed plates and in bowls? Some Chinese music? Dim lights and add some fans and lanterns? There was us 2 and one couple and a few customers from the b&b above . The takeaway was consistently busy. But please for us Athlonians who live here give us an experience that will make us return. Really disappointing at the lack of effort. Also service was bad. Brought us our soup together with our starter despite having specified soup first later starter. Then brought us main course not having cleared the starters soup. I don't get it as it wasn't busy in the restaurant. The restaurant should be packed but I understand why it's not. Please do something about it and we will return. Have a look at how well Jia Jia Chinese is run and the authentic experience. Hope you heed advice. Thank you

Food was average, relatively expensive too compared to other chinese restaurants in Athlone. Terrible service. The receptionist / waitress will act like you are eating from them for free. No smile. She throws cutleries and plates at the table with loud noises. Someone needs to teach her a few things about proper customer service and manners. Not going there again.

Lovely cafe dog friendly outdoor facility available. Food was tasty, recommend the pancakes 😋

We stopped here on our way from Dublin to Galway. Absolutely warm, pleasant and super patient staff! I ordered Veggie wrap and beans and chips to go with it. Fresh with great taste! The Orange juice however tasted like it had gone off. The lady did tell us that its not fresh and is bottled but did not expect the taste to be that bad! I’d come here again, would be great if they could add fresh juice to the menu for the boiling summer days!

This place is well worth a visit either for breakfast, lunch or just a coffee. Great choice menu served by friendly staff. Nice decor in very clean surroundings. Will call again.

We were all in the mood for some good burgers, so brought my wife, 2 kids and nephew to Eddie's in Athlone. The family's meals were good. Mac n Chees was amazing! Classic burger just spot on loved the pickles. Chips where lovely n fresh. Milkshakes brilliant! Service and setting good! While my family ate I waited a few extra minutes for my double cheese bacon burger. Which can happen, however the wait would have been worth it of the burger was good. Way over fried the bottom burger pattie, was more like a smash burger crispy and filled with oil , I mean the oil was dripping onto the plate. Tasteless and unfortunately not a good experience for me. Was our first time in and honestly don't mind paying the prices if the food turns out good. Needles to say I will give them a 2nd try as the rest of our food was delicious. Here's hoping for a better experience next time.

Always sceptical with a food chain but omg, it was ideal. Don't expect fine dining, expect good fast food that tastes...exceptional. we were delighted to sneak in for a guilty pleasure. Lol Staff were efficient and friendly too. Well done guys...

i was a frequent customer. few years ago this place had such lovely staff and now most of them barely understand what is being ordered, they have no sense of customer service at all. the food became mediocre at best, between 2018 till 2019 the food was far better and the prices were much better. now the prices are too high both in the restaurant and on just eat, €20 for a burger combo is insane considering that the quality of food drastically decreased. being asked for tips on the card machine is in poor taste considering that the value of service and food decreased considerably over the years. won’t be a customer again.

The lady who waited on me was very friendly and helpful. She went out of her way to fill my order for a take-away malted milkshake for my sick friend, even though the place was busy and all the tables were full. I really appreciated her efficiency and thoughtfulness in helping me.

One of my favourite burger diners! Love their burgers and fries and their special "Eddie Rockets" sauce. Their food has a diner like feel but the food has somewhat a freshness. But was so disappointed to see the “Reese's peanut butter milkshake" is removed from the menu. I did however get a Ferrero Rocher milkshake and it was really nice! 😍 Can be an expensive enough meal by the time you get a burger, fries and drink. But can still easily recommend 👌

The food and service was really good but the atmosphere of the place was really low. It's quite dark and a little gloomy and the decor needs a bit of a face lift

I recently visited Craft Bistro on the recommendation of my friend Samreen, who is also an incredibly talented chef and I’m so glad I did! The sandwich I had was absolutely delicious fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every bite was a perfect balance of texture and taste.😋 Huge thanks 🙏🏻 to Samreen for the referral her standards are high, and Craft Bistro definitely lived up to them. I’ll definitely be back soon to try more from the menu.💯

Banging sandwich. Like truly class, was full all day. 10% off if your a student, but sandwich is €11.50 (club sandwich) base price, so you do the maths. Huge tho, and well worth the cash. Triple decker, and they did not skimp on the chicken and the bacon. Great for if you’re hanging in the morning, or preparing to be hanging the next day. Also just tasted top class as well. Served very quickly, staff were friendly and no wait to be seated. Was pretty busy but place is big wi plenty seating. All the rest of the space in the box was filled wi crisps too, so well worth! I came off the train needing to kill a few hours and asked a few locals where to go, they pointed me in the direction of Craft Bistro. Sean served me and was absolutely lovely. Aaron the chef sorted me well out and the food was delicious, even down to the Potato Farls on the fry. Who'd have thought random late breakfast in Athlone you'd be trying new things but here we are. Lovely spot, lovely town.

Love this place always come here when I can the salmon bagel is fantastic and my kids love it here too . The portions are really good and the value is exceptional . I would recommend this place for breakfast and lunch . Shout out to Silvia best customer service ever .

Nice place for a coffee with view on the lake. We did not try the restaurant but the place is lovely.

Excellent - I mean the food, service and everything else! We went for dinner yesterday evening and reserved the bay window with a beautiful view of the lake. Food was delicious - I had the chefs catch of the day which was cod (so fresh!) with garlic potatoes and vegetables. There was a delicious sauce included on the side. 10/10. My partner had the ceasar salad as a main and again this was delicious. It came with a portion of chips which were a generous portion but also extremely tasty with a nice seasoning. Brown bread included with the salad and it was possibly the nicest brown bread I've had in a long time! 5* all round and we will be returning to try out the highly recommended steaks and ice-cream.

I had the pleasure of eating lunch at the lough Ree Inn this afternoon ,I'm dairy and Gluten intolerant, so it can be difficult eating out, but Gerry couldn't have done more to accommodate me, lovely meal...fantastic service, warm atmosphere....I'll be back...well done

The lough ree inn is an amazing spot , wether your having drinks with friends , a meal with the family , or your on the way down the river , it doesn't matter because the lough ree inn is the exact place for you , the staff here are very kind and obliging and the food and service is to the highest standards .

KFC consistently delivers a satisfyingly crispy and flavorful chicken experience. The staff is generally friendly and efficient, making for a pleasant dining atmosphere. While the chicken was cooked to perfection, the sandwich could have benefited from a bit more sauce. Also, gents and ladies' restroom both had hand soap dispensers empty for 2 days in a row. Overall, a positive experience with a couple of minor details that could be improved.

I ordered a new menu for the fact that I received such half-empty glasses of drinks, to my protesting employee Pedro replied that this is how the machine regulates the pouring of drinks, and only a few sips were enough from an average Pepsi. Naturally, I do not recommend KFC in Athlone. I will write a complaint on your official website why the service is so bad

The establishment, despite its widely acclaimed reputation within the fast-food chain industry, falls drastically short in terms of cleanliness and upkeep. The condition of the premises is deeply unsatisfactory, with the glass surfaces appearing unkempt and riddled with grime. Moreover, the hanging lights above the dining area are encased in layers of cobwebs that seem to have accumulated over an inordinate amount of time, evoking an almost prehistoric neglect. Perhaps most concerning, however, is the evident gilt or residue visibly dripping onto the dining tables, presenting an unsanitary and revolting sight. Such conditions are not only unbecoming of an establishment of this purported stature but raise serious concerns about the overall hygiene standards maintained.

This is the worst KFC I have ever stepped foot in. No tables were clean and the floor and the toilets were filthy. Myself and my partner were the only people in the store and nobody in the drive through either and the workers just standing behind the counter talking and laughing very loudly instead of cleaning and bins were overflowing with rubbish. Food was just okay not fresh but not cold. Will not be coming back here again very disappointing. (Photo below is the cleaner side of the restaurant the other side was worse)

I had a great experience at the KFC outlet in Athlone. The food was fresh, hot, and delicious, but what really made my visit stand out was the excellent service. Ranjith was very helpful and made sure everything was perfect — he was friendly, polite, and genuinely attentive. It’s always a pleasure to be served by someone who clearly cares about customers.

After being asked to wait 15-20 minutes for fresh chicken, I was served a breast piece that was extremely small, with barely any meat and mostly hard crust, it's not something I would ever consider serving to a customer. To make matters worse, for the second time, no sauce was included with my meal. On a previous visit, I was told I couldn’t get 1 additional sache of sauce and now again despite my previous complaint, none were included. This clearly shows that feedback is not taken seriously and staff are not being addressed. When a customer is hungry and has waited patiently, returning the food isn’t always a practical option. It’s truly upsetting to be served a poor-quality meal.

Staff make or break a business it's that simple. Renator and his son and varkey along with the female manage are always so pleasant. Always chatty willing to serve to a high standard and just enjoyable to speak to. The owner should definitely tell them what a good job they are doing. If they where rude or lazy I just wouldn't return and a business can't run on bad reviews. So 10/10 for me. Keep up the good work 🫡

Just enjoyed a romantic week of luxury for my birthday. The staff are very pleasant and absolutely amazing, the food was great and the overall experience was delightful. Whether relaxing in the jacuzzi, enjoying breakfast in bed, or dining in the Cedar Brasserie; every bit was top tier!

We stayed at this hotel for two nights.. When we got there the reception staff were welcoming. The room we received has air conditioning equipment outside it and was quiet loud... We asked the staff if we could change and eventhough she explained that the equipment was only on during the day she still upgraded us....I won't say to what type of room because others might 'try it on'! The room was very comfortable. The breakfast was very nice and the staff, while being pretty young were extremely efficient and polite.... The future is in safe hands... They really were were very good workers... Not stopping for a second and very attentive. We enjoyed an evening meal at the hotel for the first evening. The meal was very nice and the dining room was busy which i would consider a good sign!! Staff were excellent again. Overall, I was surprised how busy the hotel was. The pool, jacuzzi and sauna were off good quality... clean and reasonably warm.Better than some 5 star hotels I could name! Thanks Athlone Springs staff....

Great hotel, large rooms, very large and comfortable bed, great shower, tea and coffee facilities in room, also television, iron and ironing board, soap, shampoo and conditioner, so everything you could possibly need. Good bar and restaurant facilities, great breakfast. Amazing staff, friendly, helpful and polite at all times. Free parking. Highly recommend

What a wonderful evening we've had. Myself and partner attended close friends 40th in Springs yesterday (our 1st time visiting),and what a lovely time we've had. The Clonellan funcion room was decorated so beautifully, it was very elegant and cosy at the same time. There was so much space to dance, to eat and to walk around and chat. Guests tables and self-service tables were prepared so well and food was delicious!. Staff was so lovely and fun and always there to mind everyone. Top notch service, I definitely highly recommend it. We will be back!

Dropped in to meet a friend. Stayed to have a bite to eat. The staff were friendly and the food good value. The air conditioning made the bar area too cool.

Just had a lovely meal with my mum and her friend. The food was delicious and all the staff were so friendly. The duty manager from Malaysia was so helpful and a special shout out to Aoife who served our table. We will be back soon..

I stayed for a week on work. The food was very nice with good options available. I thought the staff were excellent throughout the hotel. My car battery went flat, I asked the staff if they could help, and they went above and beyond. They sourced a jump pak from a nearby business and got me back on the road. Particular thanks to Daniel and Darren who helped me with. Exceptional service which deserves a mention.
