Absolutely amazing food! Beautiful restaurant/bar and excellent service, particularly from Becky & Summer who served us last night. There were both very attentive and lovely. My husband and I had a great date night x

A lovely restaurant with great service. We shared mussels to start and these were great. Just a tiny bit too salty but not so much to ruin them The main course was superb. We both had half a lobster which is priced per weight and not cheap but well worth it. Absolutely fantastic. We will be back
Richard E — Google review
Finally a place nearby that does nice lobster at a very reasonably price!! We were looked after this evening by Lucas who was extremely welcoming! We want to thank the chef and Lucas for our meal and time here tonight! 100% recommend this place; it’s a very nice and relaxed atmosphere with really good quality food. Thank you all!
Kodan — Google review
Over promised, didn’t deliver at all. 30 min wait for starters - terrine inedible as too salty. Waited another 40 mins for Main courses - thick chewy ravioli which was like eating rubber. Shirt rib of beef was burnt and delivered in a sea of butternut squash puree - like a slop. Couldn’t eat it. Side plate of a few soggy veg for £5.50! Offered free desserts after we complained - tasteless cheesecake which was hard, banoffee pie which you couldn’t get your spoon through. Manager removed terrine from the bill and took 20% off but strictly speaking we shouldn’t have had to pay even the 80% for the ‘food’ we were served. Lovely decor, nice waiting staff but the kitchen is awful. Loud banging music too which isn’t conducive to chatting over a meal. Fur coat no knickers - don’t waste your time and money.
Kerry G — Google review
We had our wedding reception here one year ago today and decided to celebrate our 1st year Anniversary here. Couldn't fault it at all!!! Excellent food & service ... really impressed. Haven't eaten here since it's been renovated. It was lovely before renovation but now it's stunning ❤️ The minute we walked in the girl who works there wished us Happy Anniversary which was so nice. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon!!
Jem K — Google review
Food was quite good, albeit small portions. Staff were attentive but rushed off their feet. We had to wait almost an hour for starters and same again for main. The we're far too many covers for the staff and kitchen to cope with efficiently. Two mains were delivered cold and we were informed that our third main was delivered to another table ?! Another 20 minutes before our final main We were offered compensation, which was accepted, however we will not be returning nor recommend.
Mark S — Google review
Visited for the first time on Saturday 6th September, it's a very lovely place, we had the Tipsy lunch which was excellent value for money, food was very good and the Cocktails were fantastic. We were served by Summer who was the most pleasant young lady whilst being attentive and efficient, she is an asset to your company. The reason for the 1 star taken off is for the Atmosphere, the music is far too loud, music is meant to be in the background unless you are at a disco or club but you couldn't talk properly and it wasn't relaxing which was a shame as everything else was excellent. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Restaurant
The Feathers Inn is a local pub in Lichfield that offers a classic menu, live music, and a spacious garden. It's known for being a great spot for a Saturday night out with its friendly staff and clean premises. Situated in a beautiful location, it's praised for its ample parking and accommodating atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy the relaxed vibe and tasty food options at this popular establishment.
Very friendly welcoming staff, the food is lovely and plenty of choice. We visited to see Ska Train and thoroughly enjoyed the whole night. We will definitely be back soon
Cherry B — Google review
Great pub and great entertainment. We had Fish & Chips and Steak & Guinness Pie, mash and peas, which were divine. The entertainment (Ant Hill Mob) came on at 9 pm and did not finish till 12 midnight: They were absolutely fantastic !! All the while, the bar staff worked tirelessly and were very polite. Memorabilia was plastered all over the pub, which made interesting viewing
Alan J — Google review
Excellent Pub - excellent food. We had 2 Sunday lunches, 3 drinks and a dessert - a great sample size. Portions were generous, food was very good and the service was great too. Great setting and we will be back!
Theo K — Google review
Genuinely so disappointed in the whole experience. Would strongly advise that bands don’t play here. Spent the whole night watching the band get poorly treated and disrespected by the management. I get they’re being paid but they’re absolutely not being paid enough to be talked to like crap and demanded to play more (extra 30 minutes on their set) to just end up being treated like karaoke which seems to be a running theme here... Loved watching the band but not a fan of the staff. Plus we waited 10+ minutes to be served while watching the staff avoid us and serving their “regulars” instead.
Paige M — Google review
Absolutely fantastic music venue. Food is awesome. Staff are brilliant. Well done to Mike and Tracy . And all the hard working staff .. Brilliant. From Ian Rip It Up, drummer.
Ian P — Google review
Visited on Friday evening, what a great night. The service was great, a good selection of beers at reasonable prices. Had something to eat. There was a band on called 'Sight & Sound' one of the best pub band I've ever heard. If your ever in the area we'll worth a visit. Such a shame I live 70 miles away or I could have it as my local 👏🏼👏🏼.

Gem of a pub ! Value for money August Lunchtime We just wish that all pubs were like this. Brilliant food amazing service and a genuine warmth about the staff who actually care about providing a great experience. We couldn’t believe the size of the Burger !! The food was fresh and very tasty and the homemade chips were delicious! The Eton Mess Belgium waffle was to die for !! In short we wholeheartedly recommend the Feathers and will definitely return
Chrissie H — Google review
Always a lovely welcome. Surely The Feathers Inn has the widest choice of beers and ales in Lichfield. It certainly has the longest bar. Good, honest, well priced food too. Great live music venue to boot.

Brewpub
Nestled in the charming city of Lichfield, Brewhouse & Kitchen offers a delightful blend of house-brewed beers and hearty British comfort food, making it an ideal spot for families and friends alike. This unique pub chain stands out in the West Midlands with its quirky atmosphere and commitment to craft brewing. Visitors can enjoy a refreshing pint while savoring delicious weekend brunch options or simply unwinding after a day of exploring the area.
We had a great Sunday dinner at this place. I had accidentally booked for two instead of eight…. But still the waiter was ever so accommodating and professional, and sorted everything for us. The food was also really tasty, genuinely delicious (not just boiled tasteless defrosted vegetables) and we had very generous portions. Would definitely recommend.
Cyrielle M — Google review
Lovely venue, amazing ale selection with a good range of other drinks. Own ale is brewed here and .you can have Brewery experiences. They also serve food, which we didn't have, but my goodness it looked amazing! Totally dog friendly in all areas, treats readily available for the pooch. Lovely little beer garden and there are plenty of ceiling fans, which in 30 degree hear was greatly appreciated. Up to 6pm at night Real ale is only £3.50 a pint, and absolute bargain, especially as the ale is really high quality. I would highly recommend the Brewhouse and will to again very soon!
Lisbeth W — Google review
We visited this pub twice on the same day !! First time was for a swift drink before going for a meal. Took advantage of the offer of £3.50 for one of their own brewed pints of bitter. Second time we visited we had a tasting flight of their own brewed ales. Great ales both times. Great choice of beers (not just their own) and friendly obliging staff. Child-friendly and does food - what's not to like. Definitely recommend.
Andy B — Google review
Do not recommend. Chicken was severely under cooked for over 10 people in our group after waiting over an hour from sitting. The only reason I’m giving it higher stars is due to the service we received from the male server on today. Was so apologetic and refunded all of the main meals from the group. Couldn’t fault him
Jay — Google review
Booked a work space for me and my colleague here, staff were attentive and will in particular was lovely, kept us fed and topped up with drinks. I will definitely book this space again and I’ve recommended it to my colleagues. ☺️
Samantha R — Google review
Fish and chips for two, £17 each. small, dried-up, curly thin fish; mostly batter. Not worth the money. Drinks were fine. Nice place. Burgers looked nice. Live and learn.
David E — Google review
First time here today and I was absolutely impressed with the food and atmosphere. I had a 1/2 Chicken Sunday Roast, the chicken was juicy and everything else was fresh. One of my friends had the Fish and Chips and that dish was really nice as well. A really big portion, definitely worth the money. Sydney the waitress is such a lovely and patient staff member.
D874 — Google review
We went here for the Sunday lunch and whilst the service was good enough the food was quite lacklustre. The roast beef was overcooked and the few vegetables on the plate were considerably undercooked. The size and quality of the dinner for the price is simply not worth it. There are places that offer better roasts for a similar price nearby.

Thai restaurant
Located at 15 Bird St in Lichfield, Thai Rainbow is a renowned restaurant offering an authentic and vibrant dining experience. The menu features a wide variety of traditional Thai dishes known for their burst of flavors, including classics like pad Thai, green curry, and tom yum soup. With its inviting ambiance and delicious offerings, Thai Rainbow is a must-visit destination for enthusiasts of Thai cuisine in Lichfield.
What a lovely place! The food is absolutely delicious, and the staff are so kind, friendly, and welcoming ☺️ They have made an effort to speak with me each time I have come, making me feel like they really care about providing a great experience every time. My favorite dishes so far are the Red Curry (I had it with duck which was superb), the Stir fried Sweet & Sour Chicken, the Chicken Satay, and the Banana Fritters with Ice Cream was wonderful, too! The interior is very pretty and well designed. I love the art work they have on the wall, it feels quite reserved and traditional and creates a very cozy atmosphere. I also like that they play traditional music, but at a very nice volume so it’s not distracting. Finally, I think the pricing is very reasonable. The 3-course, 2-course, and 1-course lunch deals are especially good! I can’t wait to come back many times and try more items on the menu!

Haven't been to Lichfield for ages, spotted this place on the way from the carpark. They were advertising a lunch menu at a good price, me and my wife had a walk around and went back at lunchtime. So pleased we did, the food and the service were both excellent!

I came here with my wife for an anniversary meal. We like going and visiting as many Thai restaurants as possible, but this one was recommended to us by friends at. Service was really nice and we were welcomed when we walked in. Restaurant was clean but busy which is always a good sign. Food did not take too long to come but when it arrived it was hot and you could tell it was freshly cooked. Everything we ate was delicious and would happily recommend and come back to Thai Rainbow.

Took my wife out to dinner here. The staff were polite and attentive, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. The food was well prepared, beautifully presented, it we both enjoyed the meal. Overall, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere meant we could enjoy each others company and the food. Fine dining restaurant
Nestled above City Jewellers on Bore Street in the heart of Lichfield, "Upstairs by Tom Shepherd" is a culinary gem that has quickly become a sought-after dining destination. This intimate restaurant features just 24 seats, including four at the Chef's Table, allowing guests to enjoy an up-close view of the kitchen action. The ambiance is cozy yet sophisticated, perfect for those looking to indulge in modern British cuisine.
In a pretty unassuming town, is this wonderful restaurant. I went because he was on the telly, after waiting a year for a table. At the last minute, we had to move our reservation because of a daughter’s theatre show and the team were kind and helped that happen. It was our first experience of this team and the actual experience of being in the restaurant followed that. The staff are young, friendly, chatty (but not too much) and genuinely seem involved in helping you have the best time. The staff are everywhere and nowhere in the best possible way. It’s a beautiful room and it’s cool to be able to see the many chefs hard at work. The menu was excellent. Everything made sense and was delicious. We went for a shared wine flight and the sommelier was cool - she was really into it. The place has this balance of intimate yet family sort of feel. On the edge of formal and casual. It was also full. It’s great to experience such quality of experience and see young people getting into it with great service and a commitment to excellence. Thank you for a lovely evening. The banana was great and not the best dish! So much to enjoy.
James W — Google review
So it’s taken a while to get a table, was it worth the wait? To be honest we had forgotten we had booked. Too many drinks on New Year’s Eve had resulted in this lunchtime treat. It was so so good. From the opening snacks to the Banana man dessert there was no disappointment. The service was impeccable and you could see why the restaurant had earned its Michelin star.
Richard S — Google review
We waited 12 months for our table. It was worth the wait. We had the 7 course tasting menu. The food and ambience were fantastic. The bread was outstanding. The waiting staff were great. They explain every course to you as they arrive. Our table was next to the kitchen so we could watch as our food was prepared. We would love to go again.
Helen H — Google review
We waited over a year for this evening and it was definitely worth it! The service was impressive, from the moment we entered to the moment we left. Flo and Ky, in particular, we're an absolute delight and made our experience so much more fun! They're a credit to the team! The food itself was exceptional and every dish (as part of the contemporary tasting menu) was packed full of flavour and exquisitely put together! It was great to try new ingredients and flavours. We opted to try Tom's infamous 'No Ordinary Schoolboy' dessert too, that he created for the Great British Menu, inspired by the Bananaman cartoon. It was as fun and delicious as we'd expected it to be! The dining area was relaxed yet classy, and it was lovely to be able to see Tom and his staff at work in the open plan kitchen. We were hosted beautifully with no pressure for us to leave. We'd highly recommend you try this restaurant, we will definitely be back again.
R J — Google review
We had the most fabulous night, the service was faultless and the food was sublime. Each course was culinary artistry. It is obviously expensive, but it was an experience we will not forget. Tom runs such a team, all of the staff were very knowledgeable about what we were eating and seemed to enjoy their job. Meeting Tom at the end of the night was a big bonus. ( And a lovely young man,Ronnie, that I taught 27 years ago) Thank you everyone for a fabulous night.
Alison L — Google review
Visited with my wife last Saturday evening. We booked this over a year ago so we have been looking forward to this for a while and had high expectations! However they were exceeded in every way. Potentially the best food I've ever eaten in my entire life - The service was outstanding from the minute we walked in until the minute we left. Great to see Tom Shepherd working hard at the pass as well! We will definitely be back.
Scott C — Google review
Although a late review, it’s certainly a glowing one! I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Upstairs by Tom Shepherd in Lichfield to celebrate my 22nd birthday, and I can honestly say it was flawless from start to finish. We had the tasting menu, and every single course was an absolute masterpiece — beautifully presented, perfectly balanced, and bursting with incredible flavours. Each dish felt like its own little celebration, and you could really see (and taste) the passion and creativity behind every element. It is certainly on the expensive side, but that’s to be expected from a Michelin-starred restaurant of this calibre. And honestly, it was worth every penny. I would highly recommend treating yourself at some point, you will have absolutely no regrets. A truly unforgettable dining experience. I can’t wait to return in the future for another special occasion!
Ebray02 — Google review
Absolutely fantastic dining experience. Can’t fault a things. Food was insanely fabulous. The flavours, the textures - so much thought gone into everything - every mouthful was a taste explosion. Got to meet the lovely Chef Tom Shepherd himself - so lovely and welcoming. Throughly recommend xx

The Quill and Scholar is a charming new Heartwood Inn located in the historic city of Lichfield, just a short walk from the iconic Lichfield Cathedral. The inn offers a delightful blend of heritage and seasonal cuisine, making it an ideal spot for exploring Staffordshire's landmarks or taking a leisurely stroll through Beacon Park.
This place is amazing, I’ve been at least a dozen times and it’s always consistent. This is the first time I’ve ever said this, so today went with five friends, four had never been so hoped it would still be without fault. Guess what still excellent. Thank you and a huge thank you too Gabriela who looked after us with style.

The staff were incredible. Funny, welcoming, polite, helpful...the list goes on. They really are a massive asset to the business. The food was tremendous. Lovely presentation and fantastic flavours. The venue itself is tastefully decorated and has a really nice feel to it. I'd happily recommend The Quill and Scholar to anyone. We will definitely be back.

Extremely friendly and welcoming staff who interacted really well with my child, making our visit much smoother. Fantastic kids menu and the ice cream is made extra special with a huge choice of toppings for an extra £2. Adults menu is great too, got to try at least one soufflé, you’ll find three on the menu. Great food, service and atmosphere. Will be back again soon.
Josie W — Google review
The plates were fresh and colourful and the flavours were bold and earthy. You could tell everything had been prepared with care as each component of the dish had the texture and flavour spot on. The mushrooms had a nice bite, the sauce was creamy and the gnocchi was crunchy and delicious -- the garnish further elevated the flavour. I also tried some of my partners dish which had a strong, savoury flavour very in tune with traditional British Cuisine and I tried a bit of the horseradish iced cream from my partner's mother's terrine which had a sharp but creamy and refreshing flavour. The bread came with a slightly sweet balsamic and oil for vegans and it matched the crunch of the bread perfectly. The olives were really high quality and had a perfect flavour (I forgot to photograph these prior to eating them) all and all the ambience of the restaurant was lovely and felt very upscale like it'd be ideal for a special occasion. What you get is worth exactly what you pay for it as the portions are perfect and don't leave you feeling hungry afterwards, it's truly worth a visit.

Table of 4. Food was nice and well presented. My soup starter had skin on it which meant it had sat sat a while, but was still tasty. The crab n sweetcorn bites were nice. Pie (had a shop brought feel too it?) was tasty with tender meat, and onion gravy was nice. The Fish was moist n tasty. Everyone else enjoyed their meals. The restaurant itself lacked a little ambulance.
Lil M — Google review
I had very high expectations for this place but took my mother there for a bit of lunch today and was very unimpressed. I ordered the grilled steak and chips and my mother ordered the haddock , I then got told that they had no steak (understandable if they have had a busy weekend) So I ordered the steak and ale pie . The pie was dry and had no taste at all , the gravy that came with said pie was more like brown water rather than a gravy and the haddock was equally underwhelming. Safe to say would not return, There are Much nicer places to eat in Lichfield

This venue is excellent for dinner. The evening was relaxed, and the servers were friendly and attentive. The quality of the food was high, and the portion sizes were appropriate. The ambience is that of a laid-back dining establishment. Given the high quality of our meal, we felt the prices were very competitive.

Despite the challenges posed by recent times, Toluca has adapted by introducing home delivery services. Visitors have raved about their experiences, highlighting the delicious food such as chili nachos and prawn tacos, as well as impressive cocktails.
i came here for my birthday in august with all my family, i wanted to show them (who’d never been here) why i loved the place and the food as i come with my friends often. we didn’t tell them it was for a birthday but they obviously noticed and made it so special for me with a free birthday brownie and hats for all the family! we all enjoyed the food so much and the drinks were amazing (i had one recommended by the staff and it was 10/10). we had such a laugh and an overall amazing evening. the service was prompt and friendly, i couldn’t recommend enough!
Ellie K — Google review
Food was very tasty, service was good. We enjoyed the whole experience. Good choice if visiting Lichfield
Mike M — Google review
Very average so called mexican food quite overpriced too. The tex mex which had a burrito, quesadillas and a taco looked very poor, no taste whatsoever in any of them nor the fries. The biria beef to start with it’s nothing like you expect, it was literally dry pulled beef, no sauce, no flavour, and nothing else in a taco but meat? No veggies no sauce? Very bizarre, chicken quesadillas was the most alright but again lacked of flavour or inspiration. The burrito, with same issues. All the food extremely dry. No salt & pepper on the table ? Service was lovely tho, however adding a 10% service on a £30 bill is a bit excessive too. Quite a disappointing place considering Lichfield has too many good places that offer better alternatives. Will certainly not return & nor recommend
EA A — Google review
Very disappointing, whilst the live music was good then food was very disappointing. The tex mex (£24) was flavourles and uninspired. The other other main courses were unimpressive and equally mediocre. Cannot recommend, avoid.

If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience, look no further than Dubberley Delicious. This charming venue offers a unique private dining option that is truly exceptional. Guests can collaborate with the talented chef-owner Jack Dubberley to craft a personalized eight-course fine dining menu, showcasing seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, thanks to the friendly professionalism of Jack and his partner Lucy, who ensure seamless communication throughout your visit.
If you’re looking for a unique dining experience Dubberley delicious is the place to visit in Lichfield. The moment you arrive you are made to feel so welcome by Jack and Lucy. The restaurant seats up to 16 with two tables of 8 so great for that special occasion. There were only 4 of us dining on the evening we went and what a great private dining experience it was. The menu was emailed a week before to see what delights we were expecting,Also anything that was not of your preference you was given the choice to change a course from viewing other options they have by contacting Lucy. The 8 course taster menu was absolutely outstanding from start to Finish. Consisting of freshly sourced produce to a very high quality. Cooked to perfection and each course explained in detail. The mangalitza pork course was one of my favourites, with presentation cards explaining about the pork and its background (nice touch ) Watching Jack cook in the open kitchen and explaining the food he is preparing is a great personal touch and also answering any questions you may have with his high knowledge of food. The Wine selection is very good and Lucy gives great recommendations. The experience is a must A hidden gem in Lichfield.

Wow. We treated my dad for a meal here for his 70th birthday and it did not disappoint. The welcome, the atmosphere, the menu, the food, the wine everything was exceptional. Lucy and Jack were so great and personable that you instantly felt comfortable but equally very special. I've been lucky enough to visit a couple Michelin starred restaurants but none of them compare to Dubberly Delicious. This was my first time visiting Dubberly Delicious and I've already got two more visits planned and already excited for my next visit and what else is on the menu. Thank you Jack and Lucy. You were so wonderful, attentive and kind. I can't wait to come back very soon.

I am so often disappointed when I go out for Sunday lunch. Mediocre meat and sub standard roast potatoes seem to be the norm. The standard of food is often well below what can be prepared at home. Dubberly Delicious is definitely different. It costs a little more than your average pub but the food is phenomenal and well worth the extra.

I booked this fine dining restaurant for my husband's 60th birthday meal and we weren't disappointed. Contact with Lucy and Jack in sorting out the menu and arrangements were spot on,they couldn't have been more helpful. I am gluten free and this was not a problem at all. We chose the 6 course tasting menu which was amazing. We'd never done private fine dining before, we have visited a number of top rated restaurants in London prior to this but the intimate dining experience and exquisite food out shone all of these. The restaurant had amazing interior and having the place to ourselves was wonderful. I don't know if I want to eat with anyone else now!. We had the most wonderful Guinness bread and I had a tomato GF bread. Local Asparagus with Yuzu, Monkfish,Lamb, Wagu beef. Also alternatives for fish were a tasty curried cauliflower and a strawberry dessert to finish with homemade chocolate and petit fours. Full menu on my photo. Food was fantastic, excellent service and a wonderful all round experience. We will be back. I can't recommend the very talented Jack and his food enough and lovely Lucy who served us. Thank you for a memorable evening.

Amazing. Jack and Lucy have made Dubberley Delicious private dining an experience not to be missed. Eight course fine dining menu tailored to our tastes, all prepared and cooked fresh in the kitchen next to your table. Nothing is rushed, we were there for about 3 hours, each course being explained with extra insight given into the preparation. Seasonal menu that prides itself on using local and British produce, even the Wagyu is from Welsh Wagyu cattle. Private dining isn't cheap, we paid a little over £135 each including drinks. Already checking our dairy to see when we can go again.

What a great time this was! Given as a gift, my wife and I had a fabulous five course private dining experience. We drove an hour and a half to attend this today and it was totally worth it, in fact I'll be looking to book it again myself this time. Jack is a great chef, passionate about what he does and fully recommend you talk to him about it, during your experience. Great food and great dining experience with a quality chef.

What can I say, one of the best experiences ever! We've previously dined at the holy trinity of Lichfield fine dining establishments and Michelin starred establishments around the world but stumbled over DD when we saw its amazing Trip Advisor reviews. It is in a different class, the experience of creating your menu with Jack and then the private dining experience is truly in a league above anything else we have experienced. Just joyful from start to finish, could not recommend enough.

My husband and I visited Dubberley Delicious for our anniversary! Wow Wow WOW! It was amazing!!!! The setting is so cosy, quirky and romantic. Jack was amazing, the food was so so delicious, we didn't want the courses to end. Honestly, one of the best places we've been to eat! Would definitely highly recommend it and definitely will be going back! From booking to planning and attending, it was an amazing journey and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you Jack and hope to see you again sometime very soon 😊

We stayed here for the night before and night of our wedding. We booked 3 rooms total for ourselves and important guests. Ahead of time we requested some prosecco and gifts for the rooms to make it an extra special time. Upon check in they were very discreet about the payment for the extras. The rooms were beautiful, well decorated and spacious. There is a lovely courtyard to the rear of the property. Breakfast was included in our rate and the food, service and drinks were incredible. Thank you for making our stay magical! We will be recommending you to our friends and family 🥰

Very nice experience which started with the receptionist, continued with the bar staff. our room was very nice with AC. The bar has a good range of drinks and a reasonable food menu. We choose a veggie pizza, cooked nicely and delivered to our table outside. asked if we liked food, we confirmed we were certainly enjoying it. Recommend you try this hotel.

We had a 1 night stay here. The Hotel is very well situated right in the heart of Lichfield centre. Very comfortable room and bed very comfy. Room a little small but perfectly adequate. The restaraunt is pleasant and the buffet breakfast is delicious and offers a really good wide choice. Lovely lounge to sit in for morning coffee or afternoon tea. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff helpful and friendly and we would certainly return again.

The hotel is old, and you can both see and feel it. I had a room on the second floor, which wasn't very convenient since there's no elevator. The room was clean but outdated. The bed was too small, hard, and you could feel the springs poking into your body. A nice added bonus was that the garbage containers were emptied at 5:45 in the morning. They were located right under my window, in the passageway to the parking lot. So I didn’t need an alarm clock.😂

Location would be 5 star but for the nightclub opposite pumping out the music until 3am on weekends. In the week though very quiet and very central. Stay here in preference to the sister hotel the cathedral. Good breakfast for 14.50

This is the third time we have used the George for big celebrations. We used it for a wedding, my 60th birthday and a few days ago our own wedding. The George team from start to finish both behind the scenes and front of house were excellent, friendly, helpful, nothing was to much trouble. Can’t remember to many names, obvious reasons, but on the day I do remember Simon and Chris being great. Nothing was to much trouble, anything to make our day go smoothly. The in house DJ was also excellent talking us through the evenings entertainment before hand. We visit the George a lot even if it is a bar meal and drink whilst shopping. We have always had great service. The room we had was spacious and the shower was great, really powerful. So once again The George team from the the wedding planners, bar staff, waiters, kitchen team and everybody else who touched our day even in a small way Thankyou so much for making our day truely memorable. Oh and by the way there were some previous reviews which stated the hotel was inconvenient as it had no lift. I can assure you it has. We used it numerous times moving our wedding stuff downstairs.

Location was ideal for our stay, situated right in the town so great acces to bars and restaurants - all within walking distance. Rooms were clean and spacious but unfortunately absolutely RED HOT! Window only able to open a small amount and Air conditioning unit pumped out hot air, the fan didnt help either just circulated the warm air. Beds were comfortable but lacked sleep due to extortionate temperatures 😔

Mediterranean restaurant
Restaurant
Ego Mediterranean Restaurant & Bar is a delightful waterside destination that boasts stunning views of the Minster through its expansive glass front. This charming venue offers a diverse menu featuring an enticing blend of Spanish, Greek, and Italian cuisine, making it a perfect spot for food lovers seeking variety. Whether you're in the mood for tapas or traditional pasta dishes, Ego promises to deliver an enjoyable dining experience amidst picturesque surroundings.
If you're looking for a lovely place to eat in Lichfield, look no further than Ego. A contemporary Mediterranean restaurant with a wide lakeside view, modern furniture, and great food to boot. Despite having arrived early to our booking, we were quickly welcomed and brought to our table overlooking the lake. For the most part, our experience was great, having been served by very attentive staff and rapid food service. For our night, we started with pan-seared scallops on a bed of mashed peas. These were wonderfully tender. Following this was a fantastic beef bouginogne, which I couldn't recommend enough. The portion was large, with plenty of meat that just melted in the mouth. It was absolutely brought together by the flavourful gravy, with the vegatable crisps adding a crunch to balance the tenderness of the meat. My partner instead had Morrocan lamb, which was well worth a try, being just as tender as the beef and incredibly rich in flavour. For dessert, I would also recommend the tiramasu, which was perfect in both texture and flavour, particularly the marscapone. Though if you prefer ice cream, the sundae portions were certainly generous. Overall, the food was great, and the service was attentive. The only perceivable downside was a loudly upset child that repeatedly disrupted the atmosphere of an otherwise lovely night.
Harrison L — Google review
Great food, Really tasty, served hot and fresh. Only complaint was the amount of peppercorn sauce you're given for £2.50, it was pretty insulting tbh 😂 We had to ask for extra. They did give us 3 ti.es as much in the extra portion for no charge though. Great friendly Service. We don't live locally so it was a nice treat before a concert at Lichfield Cathedral.

We attended here to celebrate two of my family members birthdays, we were greeted and seated quickly which was nice, drinks were asked for quickly and that's where it kind of went down hill really. The food service was extremely slow in-between starters and mains, so much so the waitress had to apologise after we were asked for more drinks and still hadn't been served our food. The appetizers were lovely! I had a harrissa chicken and my partner had the hummus with pitta bread, both delicious and perfect size for a starter. There was then, over 1 hours time until the mains came out. We are a table of 6 and ordered the food all together so not exactly a huge party unexpected on a Friday night. When the food did come out, 4 of us had ordered the Duo pork and they were all presented differently, some were cut, some were whole, and one came out the size of a kids portion. We then had to ask for a gent to come over and see the differences, and in fairness he was great, he completely agreed, it wasn't spotted by 2 chefs and within 2 minutes had a fresh plate out for us. My veggie partner did say there was plenty of vegetarian options and the goat cheese pizza was really nice, but soggy on the base and would advise it needs cooking more. Unfortunately as beautiful as the pork was, it was like it was sat under a lamp for 15 minutes because 2 were warm, the potatoes were the hottest part of the dish. Drinks wise, my friend had a passion fruit martini, the first one I'd ever seen without an actual passion fruit in it and said it was weak. My long island ice tea was also weak. Overall, was a lax meal, we felt it was quite overpriced for what we received and the timings in the kitchen and the service of food was not up to par.

A happy place. The Management at this restaurant clearly understands that happy staff means happy customers. Not all Ego's are the same. Usual lovely food, served hot typically a one hour visit for your two course meal. Some disappointing portion control when I would rather just pay a bit more. A mean side of scallops and only half a bread roll with my soup...
Gordon T — Google review
What a pleasure to be served in a restaurant where the staff are clearly very happy, totally competent and work together as an efficient team. The food is of a high standard but the stand out here is the cooperative team work. Ego can be proud of management, kitchen, bar and front of house. Highly recommended.

Staff are lovely however i personaly don't like it when the staff are constantly walking past whilst I'm eating i understand if its busy but it wasn't. The food was definitely not worth the money we paid £20 for a box standard curry without any extras is very pricey. Lesson learnt but we aren't all the same everyones standards are different.

We ordered a take away from here tonight and it was one of the best curry’s we’ve EVER had. We have eaten all over the world, Birmingham too, you name it - but our first time ordering here we were extremely impressed with the amount of chicken in the curry’s, the taste of the sauces and depth of flavours. The pineapple chilli rice was particularly new and different too. We ordered a pathia and a chicken saag, with a pashwari naan - unbelievable taste!!! We’ll be back and with friends!

The Holly Bush is a traditional pub with charming wooden beams, offering both classic dishes and meat-free options. The portion sizes are on the smaller side, so keep that in mind when ordering. While the food is good, it's not particularly exceptional or extraordinary given the prices. However, what sets this place apart is its incredibly friendly and accommodating staff. Rae, in particular, stood out for being very kind and apologetic about any delays (which were beyond their control).
Lovely lunchtime meals. They are great value either side of £10 each. We really enjoyed them. Excellent wine list. Michelle, Eddie and Ash looked after us well. We have been before a fair few times, and we will be back again from time to time! 🙂👍

The welcome and service that we received at this lovely old pub (a family favourite that we've been visiting for a long time) was the warmest and friendliest I can imagine anywhere. The staff were fabulous and really made our experience memorable. It's rare to come across service like this and I really wanted to show appreciation and thanks to the hard working staff. The food was generally good - especially desserts, and reasonably priced, with a couple of missteps (a very dry toad in the hole), and despite a few things on the menu being unavailable the staff were apologetic and did their best to suggest alternative options. We will continue to visit this atmospheric, rural pub for family meals and get togethers, and very much look forward to being looked after by the marvellous staff again. A particular thank you to Michelle (unfortunately we didn't get the names of the two gentlemen who were serving, but they were excellent too). Michelle was the perfect hostess and went above and beyond, she seemed very genuine and nothing was too much trouble. Exceptional service and welcome. Thanks again!

Meal with friends last night. Pub was quite empty which is the only reason not five star atmosphere but was warm and welcoming. Menu would have benefitted from some additional choices but what we all had, we all said was tasty and enjoyable. What made the night, was the genuine friendly attentive service from Michelle (aka Penny), she was lovely, possibly the best service we have had in a long time. Will be back.

Just eaten at The Holly Bush Lichfield. We had a 2 mains for £20 voucher from Chef and Brewer and a last minute decision to have lunch at this pub. I booked for 2pm and arrived about 1.50 pm. We were greeted by a very friendly young lady named Michelle who said we were booked for table 7 but there was another table we could have that was a bit less crowded. She showed us to our table, asked if we were ready to order drinks, but as we were not she said she would be back in a couple of minutes. When she came back she took our orders for both drinks and meals. My wife decided on the fishcake while I had the pork belly draft. She asked how I wanted it cooked as sometimes it can be a bit fatty and suggested medium to well done as it would be a bit crisper. Fine I said, but I am suing you if it breaks my teeth jokingly and she laughed and said it will be fine and I'll make sure the chef does it well. Our meals were brought out to us and we devoured them lovingly. While enjoying our meal Michelle came back and asked if all was okay. I put my thumb up as I was enjoying a mouthful of pork. The meals were absolutely delicious and the service was second to none. The pub is a bit more expensive than our usual haunts but with a voucher it's well worth while and also a treat to have something different. I would recommend this pub for a treat occasionally (if you are on a limited income) otherwise use it on a regular basis, and if you happen to be served by a waitress named Michelle you will have an enjoyable visit. Thank you very much Michelle. PS Try their soda water with a dash of lime and ice. It's very different to the usual run of the mill and very refreshing.

Lovely meal. Enjoyed our meal and had good service from the team. Lovely ambiance on a sunny Saturday. Weirdly quiet for the time of day and being a Saturday? Possibly as a direct result in being quite expensive for the average punter? Mid-high range prices in my opinion may be a put off for some. This is only my opinion and this may be fully justified by the owners etc. Other than that we really enjoyed the chateaubriand which was cooked perfectly and service. Many thanks

Rasa Lichfield is a delightful dining destination that beautifully marries modern European cuisine with the charm of a converted Victorian corn exchange. Visitors rave about the warm and attentive service, often highlighting exceptional staff members who go above and beyond to enhance the dining experience. The atmosphere is inviting, adorned with lovely decor that reflects its historical roots. Guests have enjoyed an array of dishes, from sizzling starters to flavorful mains like saag paneer and vegetable curry, all praised for their quality and taste.
Had the sizzler followed by saag paneer and vegetable curry mains with rice and garlic naan. Being from Leicester I’ve always found Lichfields curry establishments very average, in fact so average I rarely would eat in them. The new Heritage Indian is by far the best Indian in Lichfield and one I will without doubt be eating in on a regular basis.

I would not reccomend this place for eating or drinking, we booked for bottomless from thier website which strongly had Mckenzies bottomless on there still? arrived told the bar person that we had a table booked, his colleague came over and seated us in a side table somewhere you would probably drink not eat. said again we have booked a table and the communication was lost? waited 15 mins manager came over nondrinks nothing and said your table is there which was behind us set up???? He presented a reserve card my name was spelled wrong etc but wmthr reserve card was an old florist card with someone's name on the back! we asked about drinks on the bottomless which had changed not to our knowledge there was no menu, he got his phone out and opened up whats app with the menu on and asked us to choose from that! The drinks menu had changed from the website to his WhatsApp and said cocktail are no longer included in the bottomless, we had a 90 minute slot 2 drinks in 50 mins and no food still, myself went up to complain which I don't normally do ever and a table behind had walked put due to not being served at all. 2 tables across from us was complaining, after 1 hour food turned up bu then you only have 30 mins to left? the owner saw what was happening with the service to be fair she tried to make it up to us, the owner came up and tried to rectify the situation, which we appreciated. Food cannot complain was Amazing when we eventually got it. not the best experience such a shame for a new business in Lichfield.

Really excellent food, brilliant service especially from Juan. Treated myself to a nice meal tonight, impromptu and was not disappointed to have chosen McKenzies. The staff was warm, the food was delicious and the service was spot on. Will be coming back again for sure. ❤️

We visited McKenzies in the city on 17th June 2022 for our 10 year wedding anniversary when we mentioned this to our excellent server we were given 2 complimentary glasses of prosecco which was very kind. The atmosphere here was great and beautifully decorated inside. The food was incredible and the staff were exceptional. Thank you for a wonderful evening. We would definitely recommend.

Booked a dog friendly pub for Dinner, got a lot more than we bargained for. The staff were exceptional, the food was faultless & very tasty. They made our Giant Schnauzer very welcome & they had a live singer on. Millie made our night, we ended up staying a lot longer than expected. Fab place, we will definitely be back!

One of the best meals I've ever had. Came in there for dinner and was blown away. The service was 10/10, waiters very kind and at your service, the food was exceptional and very reasonably priced. Cocktails were in a good deal, 2 for 14 and were very nice. The only issue Is I asked for bread and butter with the fish and chips and I got given 2 slices of toast but that was a minor inconvenience. Other than that I would totally recommend.

Lovely staff. The chicken tikka was great. The gammon was too greasy. Over all it was a great experience. The best feature for us is that dogs are allowed in the restaurant, which always gets a big thumbs up from us.

We dined with another couple on a Wednesday "curry night". The food was really good with authentic flavours. Excellent value for money. We had the 3 course option which included a traditional British style desert, as Asian food is not normally big on puddings. After our meal an Asian gentleman came to the table and asked us if we enjoyed our meal. We, of course said that we did. He explained he was the chef who prepared our meals. A very nice touch. Our friends were very impressed with the whole evening.

Absolutely love this place! We havnt had any food here but it all looks and smells delicious 😋 always pop in whilst my son is at football training, such a cosy, great pub! Dogs are welcome and they also have some treats on the bar. Staff are very welcoming and friendly.

Spur of the moment decision to visit here for late lunch, simply as we were passing on our way home. Lovely welcome from Ben, great range of drinks and food. Our meals were amazing, the spinach linguini was beautiful, and the halloumi burger was too. Chilli and garlic chicken as a starter and then biscoff cheesecake as a shared dessert. Wonderful food, great service and fabulous value. Shout out to the chef, who popped out to tell us how he'd cooked the linguini (honestly the best I've ever tasted). Lastly Ben was brilliant, personable and friendly, we will definitely be back

While I waited for my car at a Local garage. Thought I would grab some breakfast at Poms. Didn’t disappoint. Staff were super friendly and couldn’t do enough. Food quality was really good too. As you can see from the photo. Would return and recommend.

We all enjoyed a lovely brunch at Poms, the wild mushrooms on toast with poached eggs was great even though the ciabatta was very hard at the edges. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks looked great and tasted good. Service was good but with us being tucked away in the last little room we had to chase up staff for the bill at the end. Would go back again.

Lovely cafe. Bit pricey really (Inc service charge) it cost £40 for 2 small breakfasts n drinks. The food was very tasty and cooked nicely, so good job .... Really!! 👍
Lil M — Google review
Visited this place a few times before. Just had the most disappointing experience so far because Poms had been very good in the past when we visited so we had an expectation. 1. Egg shell bits in the pouch egg. 2. We picked The salmon Bennie because we looked through their social media pictures. They posted this salmon Bennie a few times for the summer menu, looks delicious on the picture and we love raw smoked salmon. Turns outs it’s cooked. Nothings wrong with a cooked smoked salmon and it was still tasty, but false picture on the internet is just not ok. Not happy because it’s not what we expected. The waitress who served us was polite and friendly. I reflected to her about the salmon. She was calm when receiving my message. The five stars service was for her. Atmosphere is still great, good lighting good music, clean table and chairs. I will revisit again despite this disappointment because of how good our previous experience was.

Modern contemporary decor, good coffee and a delicious selection of cakes. Can recommend the Apricot and Pistachio Tart and the Pear and Almond Tart from acclaimed Silver Tree bakery. Appreciated that we could be accommodated without a booking at a busy time and will be using the online booking next time. Our waitress, a natural communicator, was faultless. Really well done Poms! Glad we did not miss out!

Visited Poms for brunch in a small group. The food was decent and service ok, however the prices are absolutely eye watering for what you get. Our eggs had bits of shell in and the breakfast components were all pretty standard - not a big issue, but made it really hard to justify the price.

Really nice service, the girl was really kind, funny and polite. They didn't have some food, but they gave us another option. Also they have a DOG MENU!!! if you have dogs this is your place. Definitely a place to come back, I have to add this is the second time we eat here. Sorry but I need to do another review about this restaurant. I need to change my opinion, because I have been here the last week, and have changed a lot! The first time we really enjoyed it, but this time we need to say that it is not exactly the same. The more important thing is that the staff is really nice and kind! But the food is simple (nice taste) and soooo expensive! The sausages for the dogs were cold! Our meal was two toasts (really was a toast, but we paid too much! Sorry, but this means we are not going back. We can find other places with better prices.

We visited this cafe yesterday lunch as a big group of 9 people. Staff were very accommodating to such a large group and were lovely and patient towards the children. Food was great and the cafe felt like such a friendly environment. Staff were hardworking yet all had a smile on their faces. Would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Lichfield.

Loved the food and the atmosphere in this gem of a cafe, so came back again two days later. Staff recognised us and gave us such a warm welcome. Food once again was delicious (this time I had the veg and chickpea panini).
Marion S — Google review
Indoor ventilation can improve, especially during the busy hours as the smoke can cover the whole cafe and made us smell poor after eating here. The pancake can also improve. Food is generally good but would expect the “real” American style pancake like thicker and larger in size. Staff was very nice btw.
Ronny — Google review
The Damn Fine Cafe does a Damn poor breakfast! I visited Lichfield with my wife and decided to start the trip with breakfast. Well, to be totally honest, it was really poor quality for what we paid for it. The bacon was overcooked, and the beans were all dried up and resembled a sticky mush on a plate, no bean sauce in sight. The only positive thing was that the food was hot, my tea came out with my breakfast and the lady on the till taking the orders was both efficient and friendly. The search will continue for the best Lichfield breakfast, but unfortunatly the Damn Fine Cafe isn't one of them.

Been to the dam fine cafe multiple times over the past 2 years and never had a bad experience the food is amazing worth every penny I do recommend to any visiting Lichfield to stop by
Steven H — Google review
Visited today the food was first class and service was prompt and friendly. The only thing that let them down was two staff members having a water fight in the kitchen, other than that would recommend highly.
Nathaniel T — Google review
The food here is average. The waitresses are all hard working and polite. The woman who runs the cafe, however is rude and impolite. I have been taking a friend on ours there on a Saturday. He is 102 years old and I take him to Lichfield on a Saturday to do some shopping, have a bite to eat. This woman has been very off with me, every time we go there. She never says hello and gives me dirty looks. The only recognition I've got from her was a kind of smirk, when I made a point of saying hi to her on Saturday. I was waiting to be served at the counter, and she complety ignored me. After about half a minute, I told my friend we are leaving. I said thank you to her as we left. I will NEVER set foot in that place ever again. Im a paying customer and this woman sees me as a piece of dirt. She has absolutely no reason to act like this towards me, but she will never have the opportunity to do so ever again.

Nestled in South Normanton, The School House Restaurant is a charming dining destination that beautifully marries modern British cuisine with European flair. Whether you're planning a wedding or simply enjoying lunch with family, the restaurant's attentive staff ensures every detail is taken care of. Diners can indulge in seasonal dishes crafted from regional produce while soaking up the lovely views and ambiance.
Came as part of a group and enjoyed everything. The service was really good, some of the group were chatting to the team on a first name basis by the end of it. Food is fresh but from what I understand the menu isn't necessarily available far in advance as it's dependent on what is on season. Everything was beautifully cooked although one of the party wasn't happy with the size of the chips (thought they were too big)and requested a change to fries which the team was happy to accommodate. There was a decent sized car park with beautiful views that you can take in if you sit outside. It seemed like a popular space though so I would very much recommend booking in advance.

Attended this venue with for a post funeral/wake of a friend. A really nice venue. A very good use of space in the function room. The bar service could be improved a little as it was slow but staff were really pleasant and friendly. Venue looks great for weddings with plenty of space outside. The owners could do with considering some better air quality options like air conditioning on the warmest of days as the portable fans they just wasn't up for the job. Parking is a little limited but due to location they seem limited on options to improve this. Overall though a really nice venue and definitely recommend.

Had my Aunties 21st themed birthday (she’s was 70) meal here, paid for our private space, it was well presented and they reorganised when we said we were expecting more guests. My auntie is severely allergic to gluten and also very fussy, she had a separate menu and was told they could adapt some choices off the regular menu. The manager was attentive, very funny, and patient with us all. Food was good, a bit pricey but all 15 plates arrived hot and very well presented.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, thanks to the dedicated staff who are always eager to provide excellent service. Visitors often rave about the generous portions of food at reasonable prices, especially enjoying the unlimited soft drinks from the refill station.
Can get busy so we always try to book. Luke is always friendly and welcoming to us. Lovely selection of meats and vegetables, meat portions sometimes can be small, massive Yorkshire Puddings seem to get bigger! Good place to get a decent carvery.

Too crowded and too busy to take walk ins on a Sunday. Offered a 1h45 wait. Meh, we went to a better place instead and the drive time included with a good meal: 1hr. Toby are chasing away good customers by not providing alternatives. Time to raise prices on Sundays and start offering lamb again?
Semperfi P — Google review
Very poor reception upon entry. Was disappointed not be greeted at the door. We became very inpatient while waiting to be seated. We decided to grab a drink from the bar after a few minutes. Soft drinks were we’re expensive. When finally seated. We were more impressed with the food, (while I was, meats were up to standard) my partner was a little disappointed with lack of veg, no broccoli and no carrot, new potatoes or parsnip. We both remember the place having greater standards! The one saving grace was the service of a young lady named Courtney, extremely professional, courteous and interpersonal! A true pro! We wish the young lady all the very best with her studies and future endeavours. She made our experience far greater, she needs a raise or staff member of the Month award!

I had a lovely experience at this restaurant. Suzanne was incredibly helpful, polite, and efficient throughout our visit, which made the lunch even more enjoyable. The food was lovely – the meat was very tender and full of flavour, and the vegetables were cooked well, retaining both their freshness and taste. Overall, a great meal with excellent service. I’ll definitely be returning.
Amy S — Google review
I have visited on many occasions and yesterday, it was for Sunday Lunch with family. Staff were helpful and our table was well positioned for the servery, as requested. The food was excellent and our waitress, Suzanne, was very helpful and cheerful. My one recurring complaint is the layout of the servery. It's hopelessly small and leads to long delays when collecting food. Serving staff were plentiful and helpful, but the throughput of customers was painfully slow. Once meat is on the customer's plate there is far too long a wait to collect vegetables, principally because the servery is so small and customers have to wait (and wait) before it's their turn to plate their vegetables. There must be someone with the wisdom to look at the layout and see what can be done to improve matters. You may lose a few covers but it would greatly improve the customer experience. The place was heaving with customers yesterday but the queue for the servery was far too long. I am a regular Toby customer and Shenstone is convenient for my family but I think I may be hesitant about booking for Sunday lunches in future.

I really like this pub, especially because of the friendly members of staff who work here. They are kept busy throughout the day, but yet they are all welcoming and keen to try their best to please all their customers. I think the food is very good for the price and I definitely get more than my money's worth of soft-drinks from the Pepsi re-fill station! :) For me though, it's definitely the lovely team who work here who make this Toby Carvery a place that I like to go back to every week. Thank you all. :)

Visited today for the carvery and from entering the establishment to leaving we were impressed. The staff were very attentive, polite and ensured we had everything we needed. The food was delicious, hot and plentiful. The venue was extremely clean and tables were cleared promptly, and when we'd finished we weren't rushed out of the door like some places to free up the table. All in all a perfect Sunday lunch.

Amazing tasting food with amazing prices! Brie to start which was a good size wedge, chicken pate was very tasty and the pork belly was the best I’d had in a while with crispy crackling! Only negatives the portion of veg is way too small and the menu says £1 supplement for pork and they charged us £2, obviously not a huge difference but when we pointed out they had it listed wrong they didn’t even offer to rectify.

Eaten here lots of times. Food and service is always spot on. Very reasonably priced A must try in Lichfield .
David B — Google review
Very disappointed with my overall meal & experience. Fishcake starter was very nice apart from the 2 very large fish bones which were inside, one of which I nearly swallowed the staff couldn’t have cared less! Main of swordfish steak with £3 supplement was dry, overcooked and tasteless again staff couldn’t have cared less! My sweet was New York cheesecake with Eaton mess which was delicious when I told waiter his reaction that saved the meal - well actually no it didn’t really. Having said that my husband’s main of confit of duck was absolutely outstanding and also he enjoyed his goats cheese starter, he chose cheese & biscuits with port which was OK for his sweet. Not once did any member of staff ask how our meal was and no one bothered to apologise for the 2 large fish bones which I considered unacceptable and no one said thank you or goodbye when we left. So all in all dissatisfaction with meal we had high hopes for after 2 recommendations, had the staff not been so unfriendly & unprofessional we may have given a better rating, it was as though the 2 fish bones were my fault! There are many more places in Lichfield for us to try.

We had a really positive experience at Ask Italian Lichfield. Me and my partner had a small wedding with just the parents and booked here for our meal. The staff went out of their way to help us celebrate and really contributed to our special day. A special shout out to the waiter with the beard and tattoos, I did not get his name, but he treat the 6 of us really well. They made sure my mother had a gluten free menu so that she didn't need to sift through the standard menu to find something she could eat. Aside from the customer service, the food was beautiful. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. It was well presented, well cooked and above all, delicious. We all had a range of mains and deserts. I really enjoyed my tagliatelle and my wife enjoyed he mushroom calzone. I really just want to say thank you to the staff for helping make our day extra special.

Always lovely food, feels cosy and staff are friendly and attentive. We had the camembert sharing starter and pork belly from the standard menu and also the sweet chilli salmon from the specials board. The portions are large so be warned! No room for dessert unfortunately this time...

We recently visited The Plough and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The pub has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with a traditional charm that makes it feel both cosy and inviting. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The menu offered a great selection of dishes, all reasonably priced, and the food was absolutely delicious—freshly prepared and full of flavour. Whether you're stopping by for a meal or just a drink, The Plough is well worth a visit. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it and look forward to returning soon.

Tried this pub out today, never been before. Several rooms to choose from, and bar that serves real ale with a good choice, so my partner was happy. Extensive menu, and ordered meal at bar. I had 8 oz steak with mushrooms, chips peas and tomato, my partner had beef Sunday roast. Both meals were nicely cooked, and very large. Good value for money here, and staff very helpful and friendly.

Despite frequenting this pub for many years to see bands I only ate there for the first time yesterday. Food was excellent fresh and really tasty and reasonably priced. Lots of vege options so will certainly be going back again. Great local pub. Friendly atmosphere and good service. Just seen a band called Seventh Son. They were the best live band ever!!! Played great covers. Never heard a band play The Stone Roses before!!! Cool beans!!!

Food, Guinness, and staff were absolutely stunning! I didn't catch the barmans name, but he was a gem, really friendly and so kind. In an unfamiliar town away for work, I find a warm reception so essential and that's 100% what I got here 😊 thanks to the team, and even the punters, for making me feel welcome away from home. It would even be worth making the five hour trip to come back ✌🏼

The Red Lion Hopwas is a delightful family-run country pub and restaurant located by the canal. Owners Mark and Jayne Hurley have put in a lot of effort to create a welcoming atmosphere, especially in their grassy beer garden which has been receiving plenty of bookings. The pub is known for its hearty British dishes and friendly service, making it a popular choice for locals and visitors alike.
This pub is lovely, there are great views from the beer garden overlooking the canal, beer is always good and finally had a roast this weekend for fathers day. It was all delicious, the turkey was a little dry but still better than 90% of pub roasts. Tvs inside play sport and there is everything you need here. Massive play area to keep the kids entertained adding to the great atmosphere. Overall this is a fantastic pub, well worth a visit

Beautiful pub, we have been here before whilst cruising along the canal. Food was yummy and lots of it! Had a cocktail and that was yummy too. Lovely place to come for a drink or food. Has a big beer garden with things to keep the kids entertained ❤️

We booked it a week ago. Apparently it was meant to be nice. We found out its recently changed hands. On arrival we we're greeted by a lovely young lady. Shown to our seats. We ordered food. The chips with the chicken came out cold. The accompanying salad was just onions and cucumber. I'm Allergic to cucumber. No question was asked🤦‍♂️. The saving grace was the dessert. The custard is lovely.

Hopwas is blessed with two pubs, opposite one another by the Coventry canal. We are staying in the village for a couple of days and popped in for a pint. The Red Lion is a proper unpretentious locals' village pub and we were soon chatting to regulars at the bar. Doggy friendly with a separate public bar and lounge. Unusual these days as so often these are knocked into one huge and impersonal area. Enter the foyer, turn left for the public bar, right for the lounge bar. A further small room off the public bar with seating and a darts board. Beautiful gardens by the canal. Sadly we had already made arrangements for dinner as there was steak and kidney pud available on the specials menu. Our favourite dish and would often travel miles for it. Oh well. A really friendly and proper locals' pub and our preferred option in the village.

Our grandson took us here on route to the nearby DMS for lunch, it was quite busy but they found us a table in no time at all. Great choice of menu and our food of 3 different dishes all arrived together and was hot and freshly prepared. There's a good friendly atmosphere and seems to be very popular with the locals. A very pleasant lunch and would recommend this place if your visiting the area.

Used to love this place but after I came home from here today I said to my fella ‘I need something to settle my stomach or I need to make myself sick’. Food was so greasy, a fly was battered into the onion ring and the southern fried chicken strips were battered sandwich chicken. Absolutely gross food and has gone rapidly down hill since I last visited, left feeling so ill.

Went here for Sunday lunch and was not disappointed. Beautiful canalside location with lovely garden area. Roasts were SO good and well priced, my only complaint was I didn't have room for pudding! Will be coming back so I can have a dessert!

I love to use the Ref Lion at Hopwas for breakfast and lunch. I love the fact the food is home cooked, generous portion sizes and good quality at reasonable prices. The staff are friendly and courteous. Plenty of seating in the dining (although you should book for peak times). Food also served in the bar and outside. Great location just outside of town. If it’s decent weather get yourself a seat in the beer garden and watch the canal boats go by- it’s a fab place to lose a few hours

Recently refurbished during lockdown, this gem features a stunning beer garden and outdoor terrace where guests can enjoy delightful dishes crafted by chef and owner Liam Dillon, known for his appearance on BBC's Great British Menu.
We hired the private dining room at The Boat for my Mum’s 60th birthday meal. We all had a Sunday roast with starter and dessert. From the initial email booking enquiry with Mitchell, right through to the end of the big day everything was exceptional. The service was super attentive and friendly, the food was delicious and creative, and we enjoyed pre and post meal drinks in their beautiful and sunny garden. I would not hesitate to go back there again for a special occasion or a date night treat. Big thanks to all the staff for making my Mum’s birthday extra special.

Our experience had its ups and downs, but it ultimately left us with memorable moments—especially in the realm of dessert. The true highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the Cardamom Panna Cotta, which was simply exceptional and one of the best desserts we’ve ever had. Traveling with a child can pose its own challenges, particularly in fine dining settings. While the restaurant didn’t have a dedicated kids’ menu, they graciously accommodated our young guest with a custom small portion meal—an effort we genuinely appreciated. Overall, it was a delightful experience

This is a great restaurant. Found in the Michelin Guide, it's punching well above it's weight! My Wife and I had wonderful service here, the staff are excellent and the food is superb. Whenever or wherever, we always love the tasting menus, they give an insight in to the world of the Chef and the Kitchen and almost always accompany them with a wine flight. They give you a taste of new and exciting wines you may never have tried, or may never try again. Get a great Sommelier with a tale to tell of it's origins and their own travels of discovery, it's always a great experience. The Boat does not disappoint and with a menu thats priced well.... Bargain!. Next stop off..... A Liam V's PCB ✌🏻

We had the tasting menu with wine pairing last night. The food and wine was faultless, easily comparible to any of the finest restaurants we have been to. The service was wonderful, attentive and everyone looked like they enjoyed their job. Fred on the bar took huge pride in making sure his area was clean and all the glasses were spotless. The Nelson Inn is a traditional establishment that offers a cozy atmosphere with roaring fires and comfortable couches. They serve an ever-changing selection of classic pub dishes. According to one reviewer, the food and service were impeccable, making it the best place they had been to in a long time. The Sunday roast was particularly noteworthy, with generous portion sizes that offered great value for money.
After living in Lichfield for almost 3 years, we just discovered this pub. Amazing food, all cooked fresh. Nice selection of drinks, and very reasonable prices. Little goldmine for food and atmosphere

Lunchtime or an evening meal, then The Nelson won't disappoint 😋 We were celebrating a birthday, and some of us had the set menu and others ordered off the main menu. All meals were delicious and arrived together. Pictured is my steak which was 👌 The staff were attentive, but not annoyingly popping by every 2 minutes to check everything is okay. They got it just right. Drinks can't be faulted either, plenty on draught to choose from, while I enjoyed some wine 😌 If you want someone with a high end feel, bit without the prices then pop by and try The Nelson. Their fixed price lunch and evening meals are great value and quality. They also have a large patio area where you can dine or just have a drink in the sun 🌞 There is a children's play area to the side of the patio, with a large field area too. We often come here as we know we won't be disappointed!

Spent a lovely lunch with the bestie, no reservation, the server was amazing and understood that we needed to catch up and allowed us time at the beginning to talk before ordering. Would definitely go back.
Sarah B — Google review
This was our 1st visit to The Nelson Inn,it was my birthday and this place had been recommended to us. On arrival we were shown to our table,1st impression was not good, the table had a very tacky sticky feel to it and when my skin come into contact with it it made me feel grimey, I felt like I could not relax as I could not rest my arm,it felt like I had to remember to avoid coming into contact with the table. In the end I opened up the serviette and covered part of the table with it just so if I did decide to rest my arm then at least I wouldn't stick to the table. We then ordered two Sunday roasts,my partner had lamb and I had the turkey. As soon as the meal was put down in front of me I was surprised how small it was,I am an adult not a child. The turkey was on top so I lifted it up with my fork to reveal the smallest amount of mash I'd ever seen 2 small roast potatoes, although the way I have taken the photo they look big but that wasn't the case,1 carrot, tiny amount of stuffing, pig in blanket and a Yorkshire pudding plus obviously the turkey with gravy also a very small pot of mixed vegetables supposedly for the two of us was put on the table but not edible because the carrots were rock hard. I was not impressed with the food on my plate either, the taste was just not there, very bland however I did taste the pig in blanket, but left it as something just didn't taste right at all, absolutely vile. When I managed to find the mash it was in a little stodgy lump, tasted ok nothing special, the roast potatoes took what seemed like forever to cut into and very hard to chew, the tiny amount of stuffing tasted ok but a bit rubbery, the 1 carrot was ok,the Yorkshire pudding was ok and the turkey was ok but not great,a strange taste to it. The gravy was ok but a bit thin and very small amount. After taking all of 10 minutes to eat this massive dinner we was asked if we would like desert, earlier me and my partner already had discussed that we would have a desert after dinner,we don't usually but because it was a special occasion we thought we would but after seeing the dinner and the taste of it or lack of we just looked at each other and said no thankyou can we have the bill. My overall opinion is i would not dine here again, yes the staff were pleasant enough but for me the food was just not nice, well ours wasn't anyway,I watched other people get served their Sunday roasts but they looked nothing like ours, theirs were full plates where as ours looked like it had been prepared for the borrowers. Putting aside the size and taste of our meals the worst thing for me was the feel of the table just plain nasty and needs addressing.

The Nelson is situated down the lanes near Chorley and is well worth finding. Very large car park, with a childrens play area off behind the pub. The pub itself, is very large, with a bar area and the restaurant, with meals also available in the bar. The dining room is well laid out and well decorated. The menu is excellent and caters for all tastes, plus dietary requirements. The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and polite. Food is freshly prepared and presented well. I had the Sea Bass, which was delicious and would definately have it again. The restaurant was very busy, despite it being a lunchtime, but still a great atmosphere, not too noisey you couldn't talk easily. We had a reallt lovely meal and will definately return.

A lovely meal at the Nelson. We were advised to book in advance as it gets busy and it definitely was when we arrived. The staff were friendly and helpful during the evening, and we felt service was neither rushed or slow. The menu had a nice range of options and all our main meals were hot and nicely presented. The food tasted good and portion sizes were healthy so you won’t leave feeling hungry. Desserts were equally good. When we booked online the site indicated we would need to vacate our table after a couple of hours, but the time came and went, our coffees arrived and we carried on talking. Am enjoyable experience and we will be back.

Very authentic Thai food, all staff including the chef are Thai. Highly recommend the starter platter both vegan and the normal one which basically includes everything from the starter menu. You wouldn’t disappointed with any soup either! I use to come every week and I was very lucky to found one extremely tasty Thai fried rice which is not on the menu. Haven’t come back for more than half year now and a bit disappointed about the fried rice is not the one I usually have this time…can’t remember the Thai name and the lady who always serve us is not in on the day we visited. We attended a birthday party in one of the private rooms upstairs. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the food was outstanding and an overall great service. The dining area is spotless and well presented, as well as the outdoor area with the sports screen. Perfect for any occasion.

First time here, personally I didn't like the modern look, it lacked the country pub charm for me. The server was quick to ensure we had drinks. Felt a little rushed. She even asked if we were finished with the starters even though there were 3 chickens still on the plate. Starters were a little uninspiring, especially the fried chicken and at £9 I would have thought it came with a little more flare. Scotch egg reported to be tasty. Calamari was nice. Mains. The lamb was a bit dry and the roasties a little over cooked. Pork belly again reported dry. The veg was fresh n hot, nice variety. Paid extra for mash (I thought that was salty) and 2 cauliflower cheese. The food here is expensive and we agreed it wasn't worth it. Sorry.

The food was absolutely delicious, we came for my partners parents birthdays/retirement dinner. I had the crab arancini and was absolutely blown away, I can confidently say it was the best arancini I’ve ever had. The filet steak was superb, as a chef myself, it was cooked to perfection. Sadly I only snapped two photos of the food I had however, the pizzas are incredibly big and fresh! No complaints from the nine of us dined together. The liquor “safe” has an exquisite range and honestly wish I lived locally as I’d visit weekly!

Chinese restaurant
Restaurant
Lee Garden is a Chinese restaurant located in Lichfield, offering a cozy cottage-like ambiance with vibrant wallpaper and comfortable seating. The menu features a variety of Chinese and Malaysian dishes, including appetizers, dim sums, and an extensive selection of mains. Customers have praised the top-quality food and excellent service provided by the staff. The restaurant also hosts special events such as Chinese New Year celebrations, which are highly recommended for a great night out.
We chanced an early walk in without booking mid week and we pretty much had the place to ourselves for a while, though it quickly began filling up as we were leaving. It's always quiet a popular place and honestly the food and service are wonderful. We opted for the two people set menu and the only reason we were able to finish it all was because we hadn't eaten anything all day! The food was hot and fresh, with a good selection of starters, and none of the excessive grease you can get in some takeaway places. The staff were attentive without being overbearing and had a good laugh and joke with us. They seem to know the regulars really well too and we can really see why people come back. I would very much recommend booking ahead of you want to dine in "standard" hours, especially if there's more than 2 of you. It's not the cheapest, but the quality of the food and service is worth it. There isn't a dedicated car park for the restaurant either, but there are two pay and display car parks right next to it which is quite reasonable and has reduced rates after 6pm from what I remember.
Sarah C — Google review
Went there for a night out. Arrived early in the evening, so the restaurant was quiet. As a party of 6, we were all over the age of 18, save for my daughter, who's 13. In spite of this, the wine glasses were immediately cleared from the table, which was a shame as we'd gone out to celebrate a promotion and a birthday and probably would have ordered. We had no dedicated waiter and instead would be served by one person, only to be approached and asked again about two minutes later. Which ended up with us feeling rushed and, in the end, went with the safe option off the menu rather than experimenting. The food was served extremely quickly, giving the impression that it had been pre-prepped rather than made to order, and I've seen one too many episodes of Ramsey kitchen nightmares to be entirely comfortable with that. The food was pleasant and well presented but left me extremely thirsty (I really could have done with my glass of vino) The staff cleared plates as soon as we looked like we were finished, and I mean literally, as soon as we looked like we were done. A little space for conversation and digestion would have been appreciated. In the end, I forwent coffee or dessert as I felt the staff wanted rid of us. One or two of the party did order cheesecake as desert. This came out frozen solid. All in all, I wouldn't say the meal was a total disaster, but overall, it was a bit anticlimactic, so I wouldn't go out my way to return.
John K — Google review
One of the few places that opens early in the day, so I really appreciate that. The staffs were friendly but they could definitely improve on their services on attention to customers and speediness. The price were pretty decent, although the portion of the food were just smaller than expected. Quality of the food was not bad; they are a little bit on the salty side. I enjoyed the chicken in lemon sauce and the chicken wings. For a restaurant in a small town, it’ll do.

Very, very poor. Apart from one waiter the staff had no concept of customer service. One, in particular, was haughty and impatient. There was no atmosphere. The food was dreadful - tasteless, boring, unappetising, uninteresting, unrewarding, unsatisfying. I ordered salt and chilli fish. The menu did not state that it would be deep fried chunks. If it had, I would not have ordered it. And over £6.00 for a pint of Hobgoblin? Needless to say, I will not be going to Lee Garden again.

Amazing food through and through. We ordered the below menu and they are beyond our expectations: The sweetcorn and smoked cheese croquettes are packed with great flavours. The honey roast parsnips, black garlic, and crispy onions are mind blowing. Our main menu, 28 DAY AGED BRITISH 70Z FILLET, was so tender and melted in our mouths.

Never had a better Sunday dinner anywhere else. The food here is incredible! I’ve been coming here for a long time now and every single time, it’s been a hit! Although prices have increased over time, this is to be expected given the current economic climate. But it’s worth every penny. Definitely recommend trying the beef dinner.

Highly recommended. Our steaks were delicious and the service was excellent. The choux pastry dessert was a real treat. We were here for a birthday celebration, and the personalised card was a lovely touch. Larder has a good atmosphere, an attractive environment and attentive, friendly service.

The garlic prawn linguine was out of this world delicious ! If you only have this dish you won't be disappointed, however we went the whole hog and had 3 courses. Each dish was flavoursome and beautifully presented by our waitress Nicky. Nicky was fun and chatty without being intrusive. It was our 10th Wedding Anniversary treat to ourselves. The staff knew this, so they gave us a card with a handwritten ' Happy 10th Anniversary' message, which was a really nice touch. We really enjoyed our meal and when in Lichfield, we will be back. Highly recommended.

We had an absolutely fabulous meal at Larder. The onion bloom starter was the most interesting and delicious starter I’ve eaten for a very long time. I thought it would be hard for the steak to come close, but in fact it was even better! The peppercorn sauce was the best I’ve ever tasted, and the steak felt much more superior than a rump. The staff were attentive and friendly, but not too much. Overall a great meal at a very reasonable price.

I visited here with my mom last week, I have to say what a lovely little pub, cosy and warm, plenty of parking, spotlessly clean. I think the review about a ‘cat throwing up’ must be mistaken for another pub, there is certainly no cats In here, I even asked the staff about it and they said they don’t allow cats, only dogs! Anyway, I had lasagne which was delicious and my mom had steak and ale pie. Lasagne, pie and mash all homemade, piping hot and very tasty. Reasonable prices, big portions and lovely friendly staff. We will definitely be returning soon! Thanks again

We visited the sister pub, The Red Lion at Hopwas after a good first experience, but was full when we tried to revisit, so thought we would try the Horse and Jockey after that experience. It was quiet, but the food was fantastic. It was like home cooked food, not like the portion controlled chain pubs, we had southern fried chicken, fish and chips, steak burger and hunters chicken. Will definitely try both places again. 5*

All Good But They Are Very Stingey on The Chilli Con Carne Portion Sizes. We went for Sunday lunch for mothers day. All good, staff were friendly and helpful and the Land Lady even got us a cushion for my 103 year old grandmother. Food took a while to arrive, When it arrived all the meals were good except mine. We had a lasagne, a roast beef dinner, steak and chips and finally my meal - chilli con carne. All my families meals were a decent size except mine. The actual chiili con carne part was a very small portion indeed. So we questioned it and the waiter went off to check and returned to tell us 'The chef says thats the size it comes as'. So I sat and ate my modest portion. There was loads of plain rice on my plate but sadly lacking on chilli con carne. Later on when we came to pay we mentioned it again and was told by a different waiter they are set sizes. So we said back to him if you could pass on our feedback about the portion of chilli con carne was way too small. So that kind of ruined our experience really. Please see attched photo of my overly modest portion as it looked when the waiter placed it down on the table.

Have visited several times this year (normally whilst on an outbound leg to Lichfield) and in general experiences have been reasonably good. Baguette lunch options are very good value for money (you get an awful lot) and there may be room to consider and actively market a ’Half portion’ option for the younger or elderly smaller appetite. Of the remainder of the menu, this seems expensive for what it is – on one occasion I tried this and ordered a Lasagne: it arrived with the Cheese topping dripping with oil and grease – this tasted awful and I ate maybe a quarter of this before my gag reflex overtook and I felt physically sick. Once bitten, twice shy, and I have stuck with the baguette option ever since… The interior of the Restaurant has a ‘distressed’ decorative finish which some my find visually downtrodden: that being said, the Toilet facilities are the cleanest and brightest encountered to date – so hygiene is evidently a high priority here. Overall, I am awarding 4 stars: whilst there is room for some improvement (particularly in reflecting a very successful menu formula already operational at a sister operation (Red Lion, Hopwas), I am not going to kick, and am a firm believer in supporting and promoting the Independent Licensees’ fresh meal provision efforts by comparison with nearby ‘Chain Pub Airline Catering’ options.

An unforgettable experience. We went to The Malt Shovel last night for a meal and, honestly, it was absolutely unbelievable. The service was fantastic – friendly, attentive, and welcoming – and the food was nothing short of spectacular. Every dish tasted incredible, was beautifully presented, and was amazing value for money. What really blew me away was the personal touch. I asked if they could make garlic mushrooms, which wasn’t on the menu. Instead of just saying no, they spoke to the chef, who created a wild mushroom, cream-based dish that wouldn’t have been out of place in a high-end restaurant. It left me completely speechless – and trust me, I don’t say that lightly. This is, without a doubt, one of the nicest places I’ve eaten in a long time. If you want home-cooked food taken to the next level, a great atmosphere, and amazing staff, then look no further. Take my word for it – you will not be disappointed.

Visited one our favourite places The Malt Shovel @ Chorley in a lovely village setting just outside Lichfield for lunch today Friday 17/10/2025. As usual absolute perfection from the moment we arrived by Ed and his team. Two wonderful rump steaks with peppercorn sauce, chunky chips, flat mushroom and tomato, cooked to perfection alongside a pint of Carling lager, a large 250 ml Pino Grigio the bill came to a shade over £40 pounds. Plentiful portions so much so that we actually needed to request to take some home which wasn’t a problem and bought cheerfully boxed up to our table. A big thank you to all concerned at the Malt Shovel and a return visit will be scheduled very soon 10/10 👏👏👏

Ordered a couple of takeaways over last couple of months and they've been pretty poor. Put it down to the takeover and new owners. Gave it one last chance tonight but yep same rubbish food again... Special curry with chips and fried rice - curry was watered down that much it was tasteless, chips were cold and soggy and rice pretty tasteless too. Will not be ordering again whilst these owners are in charge!!! Such a shame as this used to be the best Chinese in Lichfield.

Absolutely horrendous visit to Ruby restaurant this evening! Service was terrible, waited ages to be served, waited ages for food, only for it to come out cold. Pizza By Goli Lichfield is a modern Italian eatery known for its delicious and freshly made pizzas with a wide variety of classic and creative toppings. The restaurant also offers pasta, tapas-style cicchetti, and other Mediterranean classics. Customers have praised the accommodating wait staff, prompt service, and enjoyable atmosphere on both the ground floor and first floor. The food is described as excellent, with good value for money from the specials menu offering three courses and drinks.
Been here three times now and it's been perfect every single time. The pizzas are delicious, plenty of toppings and huge. Also, the chocolate and pistachio cake is incredible! Very friendly staff
Hannah B — Google review
Pizza by Goli offers an authentic pizza experience with a good, well made dough and flavors that are enjoyable, though not particularly memorable. While the pizza is the highlight, the pasta dishes are fairly average and don’t leave much of an impression. The restaurant itself is quite small, which can make it feel a bit cramped, especially during busy times. It’s a decent spot for a casual meal, but nothing that stands out enough to make it a must visit.

Food was good . Nothing very exciting in the menu, but well cooked and presented. Not much Italian atmosphere. Reasonable prices.

The worst Italian meal I've ever had. For starter we shared a pizza (Goli Special) - which was a cooked cheese and tomato pizza with defrosted pepperoni and salami slices and onion sprinkled on the top UNCOOKED!! The mains were equally underwhelming: Sea food pasta with only 2 prawns (more like winkles they were so small) and quite tasteless!!

Darwin's at The George offers a delightful dining experience that combines excellent food with a warm atmosphere. Guests have raved about the Christmas carvery, which is not only delicious but also provides great value for money. The dessert selection, featuring mini bites of various puddings, has been particularly praised as a sweet highlight of the meal. While there were some initial hiccups with drink orders, the attentive service from staff members like Shona made up for it, ensuring everyone felt well taken care of.
We had a lovely meal with good quality food at fair prices. The service which was mainly provided by Shona was excellent, she couldn’t do enough for us & she’s a valuable asset to Darwin’s.

My friend and I went to Darwin's last night for her birthday. From start to finish the whole experience was awful. When we were first seated the waitress said someone would come and take our drinks order in a couple of minutes. No one appeared. After a very long wait, we ordered drinks (a bottle of wine and some water) at the same time as our food. The wine came, but we had to ask again for the water. I ordered the cod loin with pesto sauce. When the food arrived it was dry, overcooked, there was no pesto sauce and the potatoes were stone cold. We had ordered a side dish of seasonal vegetables which didn't arrive until eventually we had to remind them. When the vegetables came they were just about lukewarm and there was no spoon to serve them with. I am not the sort of person who usually complains or sends back food but I decided my meal was not acceptable. The serving staff were nowhere to be found and I had to track them down to tell them I wanted to complain. They offered to bring me a fresh meal, by which time my friend had finished her meal and the side order of vegetables was now cold. When the waitress brought my replacement meal she apologised and said it was because they had an "amateur chef" on that night. These were her exact words!! We weren't paying "amateur" prices!! When the main meal was finished the bill was presented without us being asked if we wanted anything else. We could have chosen any restaurant to celebrate my friend's birthday, but Darwin's turned out to be a big mistake. I had heard good reports of Darwin's, but based on last night's experience I'm afraid I can't recommend it to anyone.

We visited the George Hotel today for lunch to celebrate my sister’s birthday. We were extremely disappointed to find that they are now only offering ‘pub grub’ rather than freshly cooked offerings gs befitting a hotel restaurant. Rather expensive pub grub which would be a lot cheaper in an actual pub!! We had to send the chips back as they were almost cold and we were overcharged for one of the drinks my husband had by 50p, the first bottle was £3.70 the 2nd £4.20 for the same beer, same size! The George in Lichfield used to be a beautiful hotel serving first class food. Sadly no more. We will now be looking for somewhere else to dine in Lichfield.

This trendy venue offers a delightful atmosphere that’s perfect for gatherings, whether it’s a bottomless brunch or an evening out with friends. Diners rave about the delicious food and impressive cocktails, making it an ideal spot for any occasion. While some dishes may have had minor hiccups—like a cold steak or overly spicy chicken salad—the overall quality remains high.
We had a lovely time at 55 Wade Street when we went for the 'Magic Room' on Wednesday night. The venue was lovely- modern, well designed and very trendy. Staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. Friends had a range of snazzy looking cocktails while I enjoyed the beers. Oh, and the magic was great too.

We visited for my dad’s birthday and unfortunately the experience felt quite rushed from the start. When we arrived, staff weren’t sure which menu we had booked (normal or bottomless), so we were sat at the very back of the restaurant on sticky tables. We asked to move to the front, as we thought it would get a bit noisy with the bottomless groups, and while the manager did let us move, we were told we’d only have 1.5 hours before the next booking. The new table was much nicer though. We ordered drinks and were told all food courses had to be ordered at once, which felt a little pressured. The food and drinks did come out quickly and were of a good standard. However, one member of our group asked to swap sweet potato fries for normal fries, which was agreed to, but the dish still arrived with sweet potato fries. After raising it, the plate was eventually swapped. Another disappointment was when our main meals arrived — the waitress told us that if we wanted more drinks, it would no longer be table service and we’d have to go up to the bar, as they had large groups coming in for bottomless sessions. This really isn’t what you expect at a restaurant, and it left some of us with empty glasses during the meal as we didn’t want to leave the table mid-course to go up and wait at the bar. The waitresses seemed a bit rushed off their feet, even though the restaurant wasn’t that busy, and that made the whole service feel a little impersonal. Overall, for a birthday meal it didn’t feel particularly relaxed or special, more like the focus was on turning tables quickly. We probably wouldn’t return for a family meal, but it seems better suited to a lively bottomless session with friends.

We had a bottomless for 15 of us and they were on point. Drinks flowed really well, starters came out perfect, mains 1 steak was cold, chicken on salad was too spicy for some and even though we pre ordered they didn’t have 2 of our puddings. However the food was still delicious and we were such a large group- the serving staff were fab and we really enjoyed it. Definitely be back.

Dreadful service — or should I say, complete lack of it! Booked a table for a pre-theatre meal, thinking we’d have a nice, relaxed start to the evening. Despite being the only people in the restaurant, after 20 minutes we still hadn’t even been asked if we fancied a drink. So, we took the hint, got up, and left — not that anyone noticed, as the staff were far too busy chatting. Ended up grabbing a bottle of wine from Tesco Express and heading to Major Curry instead, where the service was, as always, spot on. Sometimes Plan B turns out to be the best one!

Nestled in a charming locale, The Dog Inn comes highly recommended for its exceptional dining experience. This cozy pub offers a delightful standard menu complemented by daily specials, including a pasta of the week and soup of the day. Patrons rave about dishes like bangers and mash, beef brisket with buttery mash, and tender pies served with homemade chips. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it perfect for family gatherings or casual outings with friends.
The Dog Inn was recommended by another pub landlord as they were not offering food and the recommendation was on the nose. The food at the Dog Inn is exceptional. We went for a ate afternoon meal on a Friday so there were a number of patrons, however the service was quick and polite. They offer a standard menu as you would expect, with a specials board as well as a pasta of the week and soup of the day. We opted for the latter 2 options as they were Chicken and Chorizo bake and a mixed vegetable soup (which the waitress advised was very nice and the staff we all having it!). Both were absolutely exquisite. The soup was a large portion server with 3 slices of crusty bread and ample butter, which was more than enough for my fiance. Whilst the pasta was equal parts beautifully cooked pasta shells and protein, all loving topped with a thick layer of cheese and server with 3 pieces of homemade crusty garlic bread. All of this (2 meals) and 3 drink between us cost just under £30 total so it it also extremely good value for money. The pub itself is beautifully presented, with ample indoor seating spread across a number of rooms, outdoor seating to the left and rear of the premises, wrap around parking and guest rooms.

Haven't been to this pub in yonks. Great inside, cosy. Dog friendly. I Had pie n chips, meat was tender and plenty of it. Lovely home cooked chips. My partner had fish n chips, and it was reported to be tasty. look forward to eating there again

I cannot fault the food served at this pub. I had bangers and mash last month with my sister and was very impressed at the quality of food served. I ate there again this evening with my daughter and husband and once again, we all found the food delicious. I had beef brisket with buttery mash and gravy, my husband had liver, bacon and mash with gravy and my daughter had sirloin steak. The gravy is totally different (and delicious) to whatever dish you choose, the mashed potato is so rich and smooth and the steak was cooked perfectly (accompanied with what I would describe as roast potato chunky chips!) To top it all, the Ghost Ship beer was fresh and fruity and clearly kept well in the cellar. The price for food is exceptional value for money given the quality served. Top marks for everything, thank you 🙂

Booked lunch at the pub two weeks ago by telephone.. Turned up today for lunch with our invited friends to find the place closed. Other people on the car park looking bemused as they had bookings too. No signs, back kitchen door open no answer. Needless to say will not bother going back, disgraceful.

Went to the Dog for the Thursday night quiz for the first time. Grabbed some food first which was as delicious as the last couple times we've been and then really enjoyed the quiz. Just £1pp to enter and good selection of questions. Great pub, really welcoming and friendly.

Visited last night after the Netherseal festive tractor run. Rang to see if they had s table for 8 & they said they would sort it to accommodate us. Always pop in after a dog walk. The current owners have it spot on - traditional pub with real open fire, live music sometimes, friendly & welcoming staff. Hope these owners stay as they've certainly got it right. All food was amazing. Pool table, tv & dartboard great for the teenagers & men.

Nestled in the heart of Lichfield, The Tudor offers a delightful blend of history and culinary excellence. This charming establishment, dating back to 1510, boasts an inviting atmosphere that transports you to a bygone era. Visitors can indulge in quirky chocolates from the luxury chocolate shop or savor traditional dishes like omelettes and hearty pies. Enjoy a cup of Earl Grey while admiring views reminiscent of Samuel Johnson's time.
We took some friends here as we had been previously and had an amazing experience and time, so thought we would share with some more friends who travelled from Stoke on Trent. We were all absolutely delighted and the staff team delivered outstanding customer service, we were met and greeted by Leah and Natasha who are lovely ladies and what great senses of humour! Guy, Harry and the Chef Jay and Ahmed took exceptional care of the 6 of us. The menu has an excellent array of choices and we had deep fried onion rings and cheesy garlic bread the best we’ve ever tasted. The Bacon chop, cottage pie and chicken parmigiana were quite simply delicious and excellent value for money and we all tried something different and we all agreed it was worth the journey from Stoke on Trent. One of our group bought some chocolates as we were leaving but they were gone by the time we arrived home! Thanks to Guy and the team who made our visit perfect nothing was too much trouble and they all went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed! We shall definitely be back! An outstanding customer service experience in such an iconic setting we shall definitely return!

Went there yesterday for the first time and will definitely be going back. I had the cottage pie which was amazing and way underpriced @£14.95 as would have been happy to pay £18.95 in today’s market. Service and ambiance were also amazing and, had to buy some of their wonderful chocolates when leaving. Apparently they do fantastic afternoon tea so respectably suggest that the old fashion black and white uniform with aprons, like they wore in the old tea rooms might add to the charm . Im sure visiting Americans would love it. 😂😂

We were looking for a venue that would customise an Afternoon Tea as there's always too much cake. We struck gold with this place!! Some of the cakes were replaced with savoury bites and we added a few bowls of chips to the table. Ahmed and his team were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. A 60th birthday treat to remember. Would highly recommend!!!

Would of given 5 stars if I had a window seat but unfortunately either occupied or smaller table. Ordered club sandwich , all day breakfast and kids burger meal as pictured. It’s a 500 year old building so price is reflected in that . Served very quickly , maybe not as busy as normal due to people outside getting ready for Lichfield Barrow. Food is good quality.

I took a friend for a treat for afternoon tea having enjoyed a very nice breakfast at The Tudor cafe a month earlier. The terrace upstairs is very pleasant but on one of the hottest days of the year sadly the parasols were all locked away in the corner. Our afternoon tea consisted of 3 finger sandwiches each, which were pleasant enough, a nice scone with jam and clotted cream, a mini macaroon a mini Victoria sponge cake (mini being a small mouthful) and a chocolate of our choice as well as a small brownie. After the afternoon tea was served we were left. No cutlery, no napkins, no service! That was it. We had to go to the til several times to ask for extra milk or top ups of tea and it was not busy at all. Really disappointing. To top it off we were then charged for the extra pot of tea. At £20 a head for a standard afternoon tea I would have expected the tea to be flowing. Very poor service indeed….. up your game Tudor Cafe

We ate here with friends on a Saturday afternoon. Food was excellent and freshly cooked. Good portion sizes. Excellent service and friendly staff. Reasonably priced. Even brought some chocolates from the shop as a present.
Paula K — Google review
Been coming here for years for afternoon teas for birthdays etc. we came here last month for my mother's birthday for the afternoon tea and was utterly disappointed. Firstly I must say the girl serving us was attentive and lovely so no fault there. The fault lay in the food itself, we had afternoon tea for 5 adults. One of us only eats cheese sandwichs which I let them know ahead of time. We ended up with 2 ham and tomato (one small piece of tomato on each) 4 cheese, 2 chicken mayo, and 6 tuna mayo. Less then 3 sandwich fingers each and not the lovely array of fillings like Cajun chicken etc as advertised online. Also when we asked about the drinks included we were told at the time 1 drink per person. Again not the 2 as advertised. My sister did phone after when we re looked online and noticed we were essentially short-changed and spoke to someone who said they would speak to the kitchen and get back to us....that was last month. Poor food, don't know their own menu and poor communication. It was wonderful the 1st few years we started coming then the last 2/3 years it's slowly gone downhill.

Located at 9 Bird Street in Lichfield, Qmin Restaurant offers a stylish and trendy dining experience with a contemporary twist on classic Indian dishes. The restaurant is known for its seasonal and classical Indian cuisine prepared by highly experienced kitchen staff. Customers have praised the attentive service and delicious food, with some noting that certain dishes were spicier than expected. Whether dining in or ordering takeaway online, Qmin Restaurant promises a satisfying culinary experience with ample portions of flavorful food.
Are you looking for an upmarket Indian restaurant where the food is delicious and the service exceptional? Well, Qmin Restaurant certainly fits the bill. Visited Monday evening with a friend for the first time and we were not disappointed. A wide range of traditional and non-traditional dishes were available in a laid back and elegant surroundings. We started off by sharing two types of poppadoms (plain and spicy) along with dips. The crispy onion bhajis along with the chicken puri (what a revelation) were really flavoursome. The main star of the evening was the Chasni Dhara, a delicious and mild spicy curry sauce, with lots of prawns. Steamed rice and garlic and coriander naan really complimented the dish. The meal was round off with Gulab Jamun served with ice cream and fresh fruit. What a truly lovely place to experience outstanding cuisine and service. Can’t wait to go back.

I hadn’t visited Qmin for a while, but really enjoyed my takeaway on Friday evening. I had Pink Salmon Tikka, which was delicious, plenty of spices and very moreish, a perfect starter. For the main I had one of my favourite dishes, Chicken Shatkora, I love the zingy, tangy taste of the shatkora rind, it came with lemon chilli rice which added an extra layer of ‘kick’ without being overwhelmingly spicy. The portions were large and it came with complimentary poppadums and pickles. The staff were very friendly, and I’ll definitely be popping back for a ‘sit down’ meal soon!

I booked a table for twelve for my 60th birthday and asked for the tables to be laid out in a rectangle, rather than a long line, so that we could all chat more easily as a group. I wasn’t really expecting this to be possible so was delighted to find the table exactly as I had requested. The food was lovely, as always, and the service very friendly. There is more space around the tables so you don’t feel on top of the table next to you. We will be back!

Decent food, but shame about the service! Rushed to order; as we were taking too much time to choose what to have, we were told we only had the table we had booked for 90 minutes (the place wasn't full and this wasn't mentioned when we booked). Desert removed before we had finished. The place was quite empty by then but we really didn't feel wanted. We could have stayed longer and have had more drinks. We went to another place in same outlet. Prices are on the high side for what you get. Shame as the place came highly recommended by a friend, although recent reviews seem to indicate it's not what it used to be.

We chose this venue for my daughter’s 18th birthday and booked the bottomless brunch. From the very start at the arrival we were made to feel special with a reserved table and nice add on decorations. And the service was definitely extra special like you wouldn’t get that anywhere else. Jack introduced himself to us and looked after our table the whole time. He made sure our drinks were flowing and everything was going good. I would like to say a very special thank you, Jack - you really made our birthday the one to remember! And on top of that the food was simply amazing!

Booked the bottomless brunch for 8pm last night. Since it’s changed from walkabout I wanted to give it a go. Had an amazing time here with my partner. Drinks were genuinely free-flowing thanks to our brilliant server Jack, who never let a glass run dry. The food was excellent, and despite the place being absolutely packed, service was quick and friendly throughout. The atmosphere was banging, DJ mixing some proper tunes. Perfect Saturday night vibes. Highly recommended!

Great renovation and update to the ‘Laddie’ Walkabout. Much better feel to the place and they even do a fantastic breakfast for just £6. We’ve been twice for breakfast and it is great quality and good service. Also visited on a Saturday afternoon a few weeks ago and saw a singer who we think was on from about 4.30pm and that was also great. Did I mention the great breakfast?🤣🤣🤣

DO NOT PLAN YOUR PARTY THROUGH BAR HOME WARNING! THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND LET YOU DOWN!!! In June I organised and paid this venue to hire their upstairs room in October for a party as I have seen many do this before. I had back and forth emails, loads of confirmation, I paid for decorations, baked cakes, sent out invites for my engagement party, a week prior my party I realised that they had changed hands- from walkabout to BAR HOME which I was never told about when I was having back and forth emails. So I thought no problem I will tell my guests the venue has changed hands and name and this is what it’s called this was fine. They also told me the venue was disabled friendly and it wasn’t. 2 weeks prior to the party I emailed asking if I could pay for the DJ which was an option- I paid £300 for a DJ which I thought was very reasonable and they took my money. I arrived at the venue for 5.30 ready to decorate and I walked in and noticed a small section by the front door with my name on it- a handful of tables. I was furious I went and spoke to the manager as I paid for a room and a DJ and had guests arriving in 30 minutes- they embarrassed me and I can’t tell you how upset I was. I had over 40 guests coming, family travelling from far and I’ve told them about a room and a DJ and paid for all these amazing decorations- I’ve sold them the dream and they’ve turned up to a busy bar full of drunk people spilling drinks all over them. They looked through all my emails, they said I should have been contacted but I was only contacted via email to confirm the ROOM HIRE. There was nothing I could do the party had to be in the small section of the busy area right by the front door. I spent most of the evening telling people not to sit there as it was a ‘private party’ but nobody was listening to me it was over crowded and nobody cared. Most of my guests including my mom and dad left early because of it being too much which I understand. The staff there tried their best to accommodate got me some Prosecco advised they would sort out the refund and served my guests quickly so there was nothing I could do, it wasn’t the party I had planned months for, I was upset disappointed frustrated- I am still so angry now. Please be cautious when you book anything at bar home aka walkabout make sure you keep all your confirmation and go and speak to someone face to face prior otherwise they will take your money and let you down.

Thyme Kitchen, located at Curborough Farm Countryside Centre in Lichfield, is a top spot for breakfast and brunch. Some suggest adding omelette options to the menu for lunchtime visitors. Despite roadworks in the area, patrons appreciate the overall experience at Thyme Kitchen.
What a gem of a restaurant, nothing short of amazing. The menu was diverse and unique, offering an impressive variety of dishes to suit all tastes. Bursting with flavour and beautifully presented. This place delivers on all fronts. The atmosphere was equally lovely - warm, inviting and good for children too. The service was friendly and attentive, striking the right balance between being helpful and giving us the space to enjoy our meals. Add that to the ample choices on the menu, at good prices, it's a spot that truly has something for everyone. I'm shocked having seen a review that it was costly, considering the premises and location, staff and food costs, and the clearly talented chef, the quality they provide is extraordinary for the price. Great for parking, lovely shops at the centre, easily accessible and a good outdoor seating area for the summer. Highly recommend for anyone looking to elevate their brunch game. We will be back, not only for brunch, but to try your Sunday lunches!

I picked the Thyme Kitchen as it was a half way point on our journey from Teesside to The NEC and it didn't disappoint. I wanted a quirky little lunch stop with interesting menu options for brunch. We were welcomed in and the staff remembered we'd been travelling down for the booking which was nice. There were lots of other amenities on site in the old farm barn buildings which we'd been unaware of or we would have stopped longer such as a distillery and gallery. There was plenty of parking available and it was easy to find. Thyme Kitchen itself had a rustic but bright atmosphere, very homely! I chose the Chorizo and Sweet Potato Hash with Poached Eggs and it was delicious - my friend had the beef flatbread - a new seasonal dish. Just the right portion size and plenty of flavour. We then took away an apple and caramel cake - a little dry but very tasty. We would definitely return if we were travelling close by as it was friendly and relaxed with lots of options on the menu I'd love to try.

Beautiful venue, came in for breakfast, very relaxing atmosphere, staff were super helpful and we were given a lovely big table too which was helpful with the pushchair. Breakfast wasn’t to our taste sadly - a little too much flavour going on for an English brekkie for us! (£14) It was all cooked well though and the sourdough bread was delicious. We bought 4 slices of cake to take to the in-laws for afternoon tea. They didn’t have 2 options on the menu, so we went with 2 lemon drizzle, 1 carrot cake and chocolate marble cake at £4 a slice. They were all tasty.

Fantastic food, service & surroundings. Our first time here but we will definitely be returning! I had the Persian eggs & my partner had the breakfast naan from the brunch menu; the flavours within the food were truly outstanding. We thought the portions looked small when they arrived but they were deceiving! We were both contently full by the end. It’s so apparent the chefs here are extremely experienced and knowledgeable, can’t wait to return and try some more of the dishes on offer!

Nice place, good atmosphere and on the whole a positive visit - I think some of the negatives below were due to it being a busy time of day. The service wasn’t the best and the waitress seemed a bit overstretched so in the end had to go up and ask for the bill and to place our order as waiting a while. The children’s food came out quite a long time before ours - we started to think there might be a mistake as they were done and then bored waiting for us to eat ours. The kids breakfasts were good but one was missing the toast mentioned on the menu unless recently changed but was brought out quickly when asked. I think children would probably prefer normal baked beans, but nice for adults to be different. The muffin breakfast was an interesting concept but the muffin itself seemed a bit dry and maybe needed some butter, otherwise good quality ingredients and still an enjoyable meal. Veggie options good but my wife felt portion was a bit small for the price. Otherwise very enjoyable. Black americano just wasn’t how I’d have it - big cup diluted with too much water so little flavour but aware some people prefer it like that. Nice to have a long black option / lungo / smaller version with more flavour. Saying this will be nice to visit again and try other menu items at a quieter time of the day.

We got there a little early for bottomless brunch, the lady said don’t worry as so as your all here we will start it straight away but then came back to the table and said we would have to have buy a drink first even tho it was 5 mins until our brunch was meant to start so it wasn’t the best start. Incredibly loud music for a Saturday lunch time, understand they have tables of bottomless brunch people in but we were told we were in the quietest area and could barely hear ourselves talk over the loud club type music. Food is pretty expensive for below average food we had a pizza to share, some tacos and some loaded chips it came to £40 all together and was pretty lacking in flavour, the "trio of tacos" were particularly disappointing, seemed like a teaspoon of flavourless filling and a bit of lettuce in a tortilla. The pizza was a bit anaemic and considering it had prawns on was a little concerning but all round not so terrible. My sister had the bruschetta which was untoasted bread with sub par toppings and a Caesar salad which was soggy due to too much dressing. Cocktails seemed nice although a bit slow to come out. Not really bad enough to complain about there and then but most likely won't be coming again

Last Friday was the first time I'd been in the Paradise lounge since 1996, when a friend and I were barred for singing karaoke songs when there wasn't a karaoke night on. It has changed considerably, for the better. The food was great, with a wide choice of cocktails, which my friends drank in plentiful quantities thanks to the 2 for 1 deal up until 9pm. This did not have positive consequences for many, but they will live and learn. 🤣 We had a great night, the staff were fantastic with a number of our party being particularly taken by a young man called Kieran. I apologise if they were a little extra, but that's what the cocktails did. 😀 I would definitely come back as the nachos were fantastic! They were also great at catering for what was a large party! (Approx 16 of us). Thank you again for a great night.

Atmosphere was good, but a bit on the loud side, even as a group we couldn't hear each other very well. I am gluten free, they said I would be accommodated but everything advertised they couldn't offer me. When my burger came it looked very poor quality and not worth the money at all. Plus, I was unaware as was organised by someone else that I had to pay the same price for bottomless brunch as those drinking alcohol, what on earth?! £37+ for a burger and fries and a lemonade! It didn't make sense, the quality was poor and I wouldn't recommend it. Avoid if you don't drink alcohol, McDonald's would have been a better option.

Loveed it had a bottomless lunch . Defo go again. Great food, drink and service. Even better they cater to wheat free for my mum !

Nestled in the heart of Lichfield, The Bengal - Indian Restaurant and Takeaway is a delightful culinary gem that offers an authentic taste of Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine. With a menu brimming with flavorful dishes, it caters to both dine-in guests and those looking for a convenient takeaway option. The restaurant's user-friendly website makes ordering effortless, ensuring that your meal is prepared promptly and accurately.
Amazing food! Amazing service! Couldn’t recommend it anymore! The food was absolutely delicious and so fresh. Had the chef special lamb dish (which was recommended by server) a chicken korma both fantastic. Have been now twice in 5 days WHOOPS! Can’t wait to return again soon.

Absolutely the best curry in Lichfield! We ordered the lamb bhuna and dupiaza, and the meat was so tender it just fell apart. The sauces were seasoned to perfection, and the garlic and cheese naan was wonderfully soft and buttery. The only small downside was that the rice was slightly firm, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience of the takeaway. We’ll definitely be dining in next time!

Visited yesterday and enjoyed our food. Very tasty and the chicken cooked perfectly. Nice looking restaurant and pretty good prices. The service was ok but they didn't have the drinks we wanted, they asked for our order twice and they brought out a sweet sauce when I asked for a spicy one and didn't swap it.

Had such a great time here! The food was absolutely amazing—seriously, hats off to the kitchen! On top of that, the staff were so prompt and attentive, making the service spot on from beginning to end. Definitely a five-star experience!

Ordered a takeaway on Saturday night. The order arrived within the time that was advised. Excellent food, both the butter chicken and tikka masala were so tasty! Flavours they also catered for my partners nut allergy as they only use Cocunut and no other nuts are used in their dishes. Thank you - we will definitely be back :)

Four of us turned up last night ( Sunday ) around 8pm as a last minute decision. We had a friendly welcome and our order for drinks came quickly . We ordered popadoms to start which came promptly and then our main meals . We all enjoyed our food , there was not a scrap left on all four plates which indicated we all enjoyed our meal . Food was delicious , staff all very friendly and attentive and we felt very welcome . Thank you all for a great service and to the chef for our delicious food 🙏

Had takeaway here loads of times, just eaten in for the first time. Food is always brilliant, would recommend the special jalfrezi. A couple things came to the table wrong but staff were great and fixed it quickly, and took it off the bill, and were very friendly and attentive the whole time.

Have been to this restaurant on many occasions to celebrate birthdays etc & we've always had a brilliant night. We were there yesterday for my mother's 96th birthday, the food was delicious & the staff were very attentive. Had one issue with the prawn coctail with the sauce being too bitter but they quickly changed it to another starter (free of charge) will definitely be going back for the next celebration. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

The Barn At Swinfen @ Heart Of The Country is a charming venue that truly excels in hosting events and providing delightful dining experiences. Guests have praised the exceptional service from Claire, Nigel, and their dedicated team, who go above and beyond to ensure every detail is perfect. Whether you're planning a special occasion or simply stopping by for a meal, you can expect warm hospitality and delicious food.
Freshly cooked food, so be prepared to wait when it’s busy. We had burgers and steak sandwiches which were cooked to perfection. Sat in the courtyard people watching and enjoying the atmosphere. Happy to see them doing well as there’s not much to keep you going shops wise, on a Sunday it’s hit and miss what is open. Thank you team 🙌🏽

A really good find. A good and varied choice of food menu with excellent service at a reasonable price. Also has nice outdoor area to eat outdoors for when the weather is good

Beautiful little cafe in a beautiful part of the world. Food was superb, all locally sourced and fresh! Baby friendly and nice relaxed atmosphere. Free parking and a fairy walk nearby for children or dog walkers. Highly recommended breakfast and very filling!!! :)

Cannot thank you enough!!!!! I had my baby shower here at the weekend, from the first moment that we organised it, Claire and Nigel were extremely accommodating and made me feel at ease. Their communication with myself whilst organising the event was second to none and it made the whole experience of organising an event easy. We did a pre-visit to the venue beforehand, whereby Claire gave up her time to meet with us personally and discuss details of the event. Nothing was too much trouble for her! From here, we discussed sandwich options for the afternoon tea and also layouts of the room due to me having a large number of guests. Claire listened to all of my wishes and took these on board, going above and beyond sending me possible options via text message. On the actual day, all of the staff were so accommodating and helped set up a beautiful baby shower. Every single member of staff was a joy to be around and made the event run incredibly smoothly. They even made my friend a special treat of Brie and cranberry sandwiches which I was sadly not able to order due to pregnancy, which showed how thoughtful and care went into planning our event. The venue and overall event was praised by all who came and guests frequently commented on how beautiful the venue and food were. Cannot recommend this venue enough to host an event like this, it is absolutely stunning with fantastic staff members who go above and beyond for all!!!

Me and my wife dropped in for a fry up, we had the light breakfast £12 each and a pot of tea between us. The staff were just lovely and very attentive, they made us feel very welcome and the breakfast was beautiful, especially the sausage (think it was from packington) probably one of the best I've had. We will endeavour to visit again. The decor inside was splendid, you could spend the whole day there.

The place is quite small. Less a barn.......more a shed, or an outhouse. I JEST OF COURSE. Given the size of the shopping village the size of the place is just fine. It's actually quite long, maybe ten metres but only, like 3m wide. It's enough for a dozen tables with a few seating five. The place is immaculately clean & tidy. The menu seems fine in terms of range. I'd be worried if they were trying to cook some super-posh 5 course meal with "Foam" and some hog jui cooled to sub zero temps with liquid nitrogen. You know it's a small kitchen so the menu is based (Or at least accounts) on that restriction. The staff seem efficient and communicative and are very polite and friendly. The view outside the window ain't half bad either. I had a cappuccino. It was lovely and only cost £3.50. It tasted like they used fairly dark beans - possibly an Italian espresso roast. So if you don't like dark roasts, ask before you order.

We got married here! Well had our reception here. A big shout out to Nigel, Claire and the team for helping to make our day so lovely. Despite all the chaos our guests caused them and my friends almost drinking the place dry they did an excellent job, handling everything with ease. The food was really good too and everyone had a lovely time. I couldn't recommend this place more. Whether you're just popping in for some food or holding an event here, you'll be in for a nice time

I visited this café with my toddler and found a piece of eggshell in her breakfast. When I mentioned it to the staff, the initial response was very dismissive — I was simply asked “oh, have you finished?” and given a casual “we’re sorry” with no real concern shown. I had to ask to speak to the manager before anyone took the situation seriously. The manager then tried to justify it by saying it was “only tiny,” which is not acceptable when food is being served to a young child. Finding eggshell in food raises questions about basic kitchen standards and hygiene. I was offered a free tea and coffee, but that doesn’t make up for the lack of accountability or genuine care. It’s a real shame, because I honestly thought I’d found a nice little spot to come back to regularly — but after this experience, I definitely won’t be returning.

Italian restaurant
Sorriso Lichfield is a charming Italian eatery that truly embodies its name, bringing joy to every visitor. During our recent lunch visit, my wife and I were delighted by the set menu offering two courses along with a drink. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, thanks in part to Roberto, the co-owner, whose hospitality made our experience even more enjoyable. We savored a perfectly crafted pizza paired with a lovely glass of red wine—an absolute treat!
A bit of a lengthy review but for places like Sorriso it's worth the time. While visiting Lichfield, we discovered this restaurant as one of the very few vegetarian-friendly options available during lunch time on a weekday. Sorriso is a delightful Italian restaurant that truly lives up to its name, putting a smile on your face from the moment you step through the door. Roberto, the co-owner, is an exceptional host who made our experience even more memorable with his warm and welcoming demeanor. We visited for lunch and were pleased to find a set menu offering good value for money with options for two or three courses including a drink (alcoholic or soft drink). The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. Special mention to Funghi Darwin and Risotto Funghi which were great vegetarian options and Calamari, Maiale Bolognese and Pollo Porcino stood out as non vegetarian options. The pizza was good as well. Panna cotta was my favourite from the 3 desserts on the menu. One of the highlights of our visit was the wonderful surprise arranged for my wife's birthday. I told Roberto about my wife's birthday and his team went above and beyond by bringing a candle-lit dessert while singing happy birthday, giving a special touch to our celebration. The attention to detail at Sorriso is impressive, even extending to the toilets. They offer a fantastic baby changing station complete with amenities like wet wipes and nappy bags, making it incredibly convenient for families with young children. We'll definitely come back next time we're in Lichfield.

We've had such a lovely dinner here. Really reminded us of our holidays in Italy and Sicily. The food was amazing. Such beautiful food. The service was impeccable. Can't believe it's taken us so long to visit here. We will be back.

Had lunch here, they do a decent range set menu £16.95 for two courses or £19.95 for three which includes a glass of wine/beer or soft drink. Food was excellent and staff very friendly, would definitely recommend..

Very nice and romantic Italian restaurant. With a pleasant atmosphere and good Italian music. Everything was clean and tidy, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was good, I ordered affogato for dessert, it was OK but I am already of the opinion that it is difficult to find a great affogato in England.

We are here right now and I have to say that what a lovely place it is. My wife and I had the set (smile) menu. A choice of 2 courses and includes a drink. My main was a pizza which was perfection washed down with a glass or red wine which was also very nice. First time eating here but won't be the last. A gem of a place, please visit.

What a gem of a place! My husband and I came to Litchfield for an event in the Cathedral and wanted somewhere to eat before hand. I'm so glad we found Sorriso! It was easy to book a table and upon arrival we we're greeted with a warm welcome and seated at our table. The setup of the restaurant is well thought out and creates a cosy atmosphere. Service was swift, efficient and attentive! And then there's the food....... oh my days!! AMAZING!!!! We shared the soup of the day - perfect, the flavour was sublime. Our mains arrived shortly after, fresh, hot and were absolutely delicious. Authentic flavours created a taste sensation. The dishes were a perfect portion size. Now let's talk about dessert.... I had the profiteroles..... THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD!!!!! The bar is set and let me tell you its high. Our dining experience was perfect from start to finish. Thank you Sorriso. ❤️
