Was in the area for a long weekend away and booked Stones to celebrate my partners birthday. What a great choice. Food was fantastic and reasonably priced for the quality. The service was great and the location was lovely too. Would highly recommend if you’re visiting the area.

Perfect tasting menu. Great wines to pair with. Couldn’t fault the food etc. only thing is if you don’t get a conservatory table to feel a little hemmed in. Definitely visit again.

Stones is the perfect spot for a nice meal, whether it be for a special occasion or a date night. The food is always perfectly cooked and involves different flavours or presentations making it a special meal. The staff are friendly and the service is quick. The restaurant is always clean and tidy, and beautifully decorated. Stones offer vouchers for their three course meal offers which are a great gift for Christmas or birthdays.

This was a recommendation from a friend and it was worth the hour and a half drive! The story I was told was that the chef was a Michelin star chef working in London, who was sick of the rat race and relocated to Matlock in Derbyshire. My partner and I opted for the 7 course taster menu and what a sensation that was. EVERY dish was an explosion in the mouth of complimentary flavours and textures. With the appetisers, the sour dough bread and the mous bouches , it turned out to be almost 10 courses. Just look at the photos! Unbelievable! The location is beautiful too. The outside terrace overlooks the river and the sounds of the water creates at truly romantic setting. The staff were excellent too and I’m surprised that Stones doesn’t already have a Michelin star! Out of this world and I would recommend everyone that likes food to try it! @ £80 per person, it is an absolute bargain. For food like this you would pay double that in London!

If you're looking for somewhere to have a wonderful eating experience - you've found it! You'll struggle to beat the excellent food at Stones Restaurant anywhere near here. We had the remarkable 5 course tasting menu today which, we all agreed, was as good as it gets. In addition there were really tasty amuse-bouche before the meal and in between some courses, and the whole meal was finished off with homemade chocolates. The staff were really pleasant, the decor was really pleasant, and the seating was comfortable. Each course was a masterpiece of taste and texture. Each course wasn't huge, but the meal as a whole was perfectly balanced and left everyone completely satisfied. On top of that it was superb value for money. In addition, in the warmer months, there is attractive outside seating with lovely views. A little gem - just sorry it isn't nearer to where we live, as it would be on the calendar regularly if it was.

Lovely! Went for our annual Birthday taster menu and it was great as always. Got to try a few things we'd never had before. A few items were quite salty which was such a shame but the puddings as always were th best part!

Amazing views make the journey up the hill to the Thorn Tree worth it. Surprisingly small but beautiful interior, and the outside seating is perfect to take in the view. It is currently a Greeneking pub and while they have several guests on, the real ale choice is .... a bit regional. External pristine quaint toilets.

Cosy pub tucked away up the hills in Matlock. Greene King pub with a good selection of real ales. Friendly staff and locals. The terrace at the front is a great place to have a pint and watch the sun go down.

Had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food came out quickly and the customer service was great. They recommended dishes that were more appropriate for children, and their portion sizes were plentiful. The atmosphere wa peaceful and quiet, and it was very clean. We had the chicken satay as a starter, which was served with a delicious peanut sauce. For mains, we had the tom yam soup, Pad Thai, and a sweet fried fish dish, all of which were delicious! The food tasted cosy and warming. Finished with the fried banana desert which was crispy and really good. Definitely a place I would come back to!

Stopped by Thailand No.1 Matlock craving Thai food en route back to London after a day out in the Peak District. Food was absolutely amazing with authentic fresh flavours. Recommend the Tom Yum and Pad Thai's as well as the fried fish. The staff were really friendly and very welcoming. Super helpful on menu recommendations. The summer cocktail that is currently on offer is highly recommended. The pink gin with raspberry was super refreshing. Would definitely come back if passing thru.

Beautiful restaurant serving authentic Thai cuisine. Everything about this restaurant is excellent: the decor is elegant but inviting, the food is superb, and the staff are fantastic. There’s plenty of options for vegetarians and diners with dietary restrictions. Dishes can also be adjusted according to your personal preference. Special mention and thank you to the lady (sorry I didn’t get your name) who was so lovely and made my day extra special when I told her it was my birthday. Your kindness was very much appreciated. I highly recommend visiting Thailand No.1 Matlock, but I would probably reserve a table if visiting at the weekend as I have a feeling it gets incredibly busy!

Food is really really good here. We ordered beef pad kra paw, seafood vermicelli salad, and duck charcoal hotpot. I forgot to take all food photos because we were all hungry. A must order is beef pad kra paw, it is smoky and tastes really good.

My partner and I had dinner here for my 25th birthday. The food was delicious and they were very accommodating of my partner's coeliac disease (loads of amazing and well labeled gluten free options). We will definitely come again next time we're in Matlock 😊

It's fine. Thai green Curry was nice with beef and steamed rice. Started it a dried prawn cake was nice and interesting but could have been spiced a bit I think. Slightly distracting lounge music and a lightning that is both dark and too bright at the same time (I was dining alone and tried to play a card game and couldn't due to darkness and reflection of spot lights off the cards). Overall I would come again or get take away of I was near but wouldn't come here as a destination.

Wow - absolutely delicious Thai cuisine. We came on a bank holiday Monday for dinner without a booking and luckily only had to wait twenty minutes (even though they initially thought it’d be an hour). We ordered a lot of dishes, from a Thai salad to soup to fish to pad Thai, literally everything we ordered came in generous portions and was extremely delicious and fresh. If I am in the area again I will definitely be back and will recommend this restaurant to my friends :)

My friends and I stumbled across Buddy’s on a Sunday where is was naturally quiet. I’m sure on its busiest nights it’s really full. We were quite hungry so ordered the beef and pork pit trays. I cannot fault the beef burnt ends. Delicious! Unfortunately I found the pulled beef tasteless and dry and the cornbread warm at the top and cold at the bottom (your mileage may vary) my friends really enjoyed the pulled pork, ribs and sausage. Service was good and very prompt with drinks. They had unfortunately run out of coleslaw and when I asked if this would be reflected on the bill I was told we could have more corn bread if we wished. We declined and no more was said sadly.

We stumbled across this place when looking for the pub nextdoor and decided to give it a try, we're so glad we did! The food was really, really nice, and after being told it's a new menu, the food lived up to the expectations We shared a beef plate, with ranging cuts of the meat alongside tatertots and chicken tenders with hot honey. Those chicken tenders deserve to be a main on their own, as they were the best thing we ate! Would definitely recommend anyone looking for a great place to grab a meal at a reasonable price

Great food with amazing service who went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had a good time for a birthday we were celebrating. Large portion sizes and definitely great value for money! Also very good with catering to dietary requirements and allergies.

Lovely visit to Buddy’s this afternoon. Dropped in without a reservation about 6pm and the guy that met us that door was very accommodating, made room for us on the big table partially situated outside. We had 2 x raspberry lemonade and then a disorderly and a hungover buddy burger which was delicious! Meat was very tasty as were the fries, all came out in good time and was hot on arrival. All the staff were super friendly and even when one member hadn’t shown up for their shift, still had the time for a quick chat about the food and just general good banter. Overall a really nice experience that was of a acceptable price for the quality and would certainly come again!

Buddy’s Smokehouse didn’t just feed me—it hugged my taste buds. The pit pork tray was so tender I’m pretty sure it was slow-danced into perfection. Smoky, juicy, and the kind of portion size that makes you feel like a champion (and still good enough to share with my beautiful girlfriend without feeling resentful). I paired it with a pint of Neck Oil, which went down smoother than a cheesy pickup line. It cut through the rich pork perfectly and left me nodding like, yep, this is living. The place itself? Cozy, lively, and staffed by folks who look like they actually enjoy feeding you. We left smiling, full, and already plotting our return—because once you’ve had pork this good, regular food just feels like a bad rebound.

I've been in about 5 or 6 times now, last night I came in with the family and had one of the best visits yet. Lewis was serving us, he knew the beers and menu really well and helped the kids choose their food. Chef was well on his game too, love coming here. If you want a challenge go for the OG pit bull and a side of wings 👌

Ostello Lounge, Matlock – Review I recently had the pleasure of staying at Ostello Lounge in Matlock, and overall, it was a fantastic experience. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, making it a great place to unwind after a day of exploring the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. The lounge area is cosy, well-maintained, and equipped with comfortable seating, making it ideal for socializing or simply relaxing with a book. The staff were friendly, approachable, and helpful, providing useful local tips and ensuring a smooth check-in process. The location is excellent, close to local attractions like Matlock Bath, Chatsworth House, and the Peak District National Park. The facilities were clean and tidy, with good Wi-Fi access, which is a must for travelers. One of the highlights was the communal vibe — it’s a perfect spot for meeting fellow travelers and sharing stories. Prices were reasonable, and I appreciated the relaxed, laid-back environment. Me and my boyfriend have visited The lounge twice now and it’s been a lovely experience. They have a fantastic drink selection, ranging from fun milkshakes and bubble tea, to classic coca-cola and traditional tea and coffees. As for the food, My boyfriend had the bacon and cheese smash burger, the presentation was fantastic and it was delicious. I ordered the mac and cheese, this was also delicious however wished the mac and cheese came with some garlic bread or some type of garnish, however I really enjoyed this dish! The staff were quick and efficient, they made us feel looked after. The atmosphere is great, good lighting and music! If your in matlock and looking for a nice place to eat and get out the rain, you should really give The lounge a go! Very decently priced, they have board games and books for entertainment! As well as a little corner for children and family. Overall, great food and menu!

The lounges are always a fabulous experience, and Ostello Lounge in Matlock is no exception. Lovely decor and friendly waiting staff, tasty food options and quick service. Love the watermelon iced tea!

Tried phoning to book and was told to just turn up. Luckily there are plenty of tables and on a late August Thursday space available. Quite a good range of choice on the menu with some Gluten Free options and care taken by the staff over these.. even placement of wee flags on the dish. OK, it highlights something that shouldn't need it, but very reassuring nonetheless. Food was reasonably quickly prepared and was delightful. Nothing too much bother, including expediting a side order I'd forgotten to mention when ordering the main order. This is a dog friendly place too. I rarely mention toilets in restraunt reviews- its not why we want to visit, but plus points here for clean loos too. An overall great dining experience... happily eat here again (soon).

The place had a great vibe and the menu looked promising, but the experience didn’t match. The order-from-table app crashed twice, and since there’s no table service, we had to go to the counter. If that’s the system, it really needs to work properly. At the counter, staff didn’t make eye contact or acknowledge anyone waiting. When I asked for water (after ordering Nasi Goreng, which is quite hot), I was told, “There’s a jug somewhere — you can get it yourself.” Not exactly what you expect after spending nearly £100 for four people. The food was fine, but service felt careless — food dropped off without follow-up, sauces asked about afterward, and we had to fetch things ourselves. I’ve run a few establishments myself and understand how tough hospitality is, but basic politeness and attentiveness make all the difference. And just to finish on a funny note — I left without ever getting that water and ended up buying a bottle from the shop next door. Probably not the takeaway experience you want your guests remembering! Great vibe and good food, but the service really needs to catch up

Food was good apart from the black pudding on the cooked breafast. Was like a burnt wafer and when asked for a replacement the same thing came out again! Cost nearly £2 for this as an extra and response from first waitress was that's how it is. A second waitress possibly the manager was more apologetic and offered a drink but we were about to leave so declined, maybe offering to take it off the bill would have been better? Others in the group had a range of food and were happy with what they got although we did wait ages and some of the food wasn't piping hot. Extensive gluten free and vegan menus and generally range of food was good.

staff asked us right away about allergies, very thoughtful. We got the miami brunch and the quesadilla, which were delicious. the location is whimsical, with many fun events. they have a large menu with many dietary options. would reccommend!

Cracking micro pub this, serving a wide range of ale from cask,keg, bottle and can. The landlord Mark is a friendly chap and up for a chat. He’s knowledgeable and passionate about the area too. Gave me some good tips for my travels. Nice little story how the place came to be. Nicely kitted out with a rustic cosy vibe. The ale is good and reasonably priced, I had a selection of 3. Very refreshing, it needed to be because it’s a bit of a walk up that hill from the town centre. Well worth it though. Will definitely pop in again when I’m in the area. Cheers! 🍻

Brilliant craft ale bar with x4 cask (is king!) beers on rotation and a massive selection of keykeg and cans. Very welcoming landlord and locals. A real joy to find on our ride...a top spot real ales in Matlock 👌

Brilliant micro pub, with a great landlord and landlady. Just visiting on a Saturday, but made me and the family feel really welcome. Great selection of 4 well chosen ales on handpull and more craft bottles and cans than you could mention. A real gem..

Fantastic little boozer. Great selection of beers, mix of cask, craft ale and lagers. Lovely, cozy layout where you're made to feel very comfortable. Everyone including the barmaid and landlord were friendly and welcoming. Plus dog friendly. Wish it was my local!

Fantastic micro pub. Friendly and entertaining owner. Excellent range of well chosen real ale, many bottles and anything else the discerning drinker would like. Tasteful and spacious interior. My favourite pub in Matlock. If only their was an escalator to get up the hill.

Great micropub. It was a good size and well decorated. Mark was very knowledgeable about local beers and had a decent selection of bottles. I visited this place twice on my visit to Matlock and all the beers were well kept. There was suitable ales for both craft and real ale lovers on tap. I liked how the atmosphere in the pub enabled our party to strike up conversations with the locals. Will visit again.

Lovely local pub. Drinks only does not do food. Absolutely great selection of beers and ales. Good wines as well. Games and newspapers available. Kids welcome No outside space or smoking area, have to stand outside if that's your thing Just love this place.

Very nice restaurant. Very much enjoyed a medium hot jalfrezi, and all the dishes were enjoyed by my colleagues and friends. Excellent service. Restaurant was very quiet unfortunately. Will return when back in Matlock.

One of the best curries I’ve had in years, and that includes a lot of trips to India. The garlic chilli chicken was so good. Amazing flavours, plenty of heat without killing the taste and just the right amount of ghee/oil. Pari and Tamya were great - 10/10 food and service!

Me and my son was staying at Matlock town whilst out visiting on our Motorbikes and staying over 1 night and spotted maazi restaurant and thought let’s give it a go and wow from the Friendly greeting on the way in to our table by pari and Nadeem, such a warm friendly welcome. Food was fantastic and had few things on menu not tried which were super nice also, the coriander naan was fantastic best ever naan, and so was all our meal, Can’t recommend this place enough and will be going again on next visit to Matlock. It’s so nice when staff are warm and friendly and that’s exactly how peri and Nadeem were. Thank you from me and my son 🙏

Being in Matlock for a day visit ( first time) i was looking for a place to eat and when i discovered that there is an indian restaurant i was curious about their menu since I tried to find chickpeas meals for quite a while. My brother and mum were at first very reticent to go out of their bias towards indian food. Going upstairs we were 🤗 welcomed by Nadeem and he was an great hospitable waitress. Food was delicious ( just what i was expecting) and also my brother told me that he liked what he ate. Also Pari who is a colleague of Nadeem treated us like proper guests and we felt welcomed. The restaurant looks a bit outdated but for a person like me who is interested more on food served than in appearance of the place i was delighted. Definitely recommend for those who look for good indian food.

We went here for dinner on the last night of our holiday. The food was very tasty and promptly served. Good cold beer as well as incredibly friendly and attentive staff. I will be back! A wonderful experience! :)

I was in Matlock for a few days and ordered from Maazi. The food was incredible, full of authentic flavour, and the customer service was excellent. I’ve tried takeaways from many places, but Maazi is easily my favourite. Highly recommend! 5⭐️

Maazi catered for our wedding reception in Baslow and they were fantastic. We had a vegetarian buffet of starters, mains and sides at a very reasonable cost. There was plenty of food, it was all delicious, and many of our guests commented how much they enjoyed it. Plates and cutlery were provided, the food was clearly labelled with allergens and the staff who set and cleared up were friendly and professional. We would really recommend Maazi for events.

Well well well my friends have I got a review for you , this was our first trip to the gate inn and wow was we satisfied, what actually happened we was so hungry and ordered starters of cheesy garlic bread and cheesy onion rings ( yes I’m a cheese monster lol ) and wow when it came for the two of us it was huge so we had to cancel our mains before the chef started cooking as we wouldn’t of managed it now this was our fault as we don’t normally have starters and mains we just got over hungry but the experience was so enjoyable the staff was so so lovely and happy and just they way they spoke to you and helped with anything they really enjoyed being in that industry and it showed as they were so busy but never got flustered or stressed they just worked in harmony with each other and I just felt so happy and really wanted my main course but wouldn’t of managed it but this won’t be our only visit not by a long shot , we hadn’t even booked and it was packed but they found us a table no problem and was not annoyed as we just walked in they just wanted to help us have a lovely Saturday night and that’s exactly what happened, the menu is fantastic and all the meals we saw going out just made your mouth water even though I haven’t tasted much you could tell all the food would not be a disappointment so please my fellow friends give this place a try it’s so beautiful inside plenty of outside area and a play park for the kids and also dog friendly so what more could you ask for it’s the whole package and much much more

My wife and I visited here while on a weekend break in Matlock Bath. My wife is Coeliac so we had to find somewhere with a good Gluten Free menu. This place hit all the right buttons. The choice of GF options was really good (see photo), the service was friendly and professional and the food was amazing. We will certainly be back on our next visit to the area.

Excellent place to get a good bite to eat. The pizzas are amazing and highly recommend. It gets busy quickly around the usually times.

The best steak and ale pie ive eaten in ages.good size slice of pie not an individual one pastry was delicious and not soggy at all packed out with proper chunks of meat.veg cooked a little al dente but tasty.the place is calming ,spacious and has air con which is needed in june. Husband had lasagna which also was very good,maybe a little small but overall very good.will deffo be back to try the fillet steak skewers

Wow... This restaurant is top notch. The food was amazing soo tasty. The staff were very attentive very welcoming nothing was to much trouble. Highly recommend!!

The ultimate combination of food and drink. Timmy Taylor and steak and ale pie. Right proper. The service was delivered by a team of super efficient young ladies. The pie, such a small word for this culinary masterpiece, was shortcrust pastry cuddling tender steak and gravy. A separate pot of gravy was very welcome. Vegetables actually had some flavour. I even ate some sprouts. Dipped in gravy, they resembled human food close enough to bypass my gag reflex. The one lost point was due to the size of the pub, more like a giant restaurant than a peak pub.

Late lunch there today. Plenty of parking and warm welcome. Table service with large menu with some house specialities. Good quality food in a modern setting. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Can recommend.

Brilliant short break at this brew pub in Matlock. Fantastic staff who actually communicate with you as a valued human being making you feel so welcome - a home from home experience. From the breakfasts cooked to order to the Sunday lunches and evening meals, would highly recommend!

Welcoming pub serving food as well as drinks. Staff were friendly and service was relatively quick. I didn’t fancy a big meal, so I ordered the patatas bravas and garlic bread - both were delicious and just what I needed. Plenty of seating both inside and outside. Highly recommended.

We were told today from a young lady they had no room inside but if we wanted to take a table outside we could have Sunday roast. So we brought a drink. Then to be told by other women they didn't have no dinners left. Left frustrated as we wouldn't of brought a drink if we knew this in the first place. The young lady apologised, the other women behind the bar looked stressed. We came a long way so it's not nice to be told by one person to take a seat for Sunday lunch then told up on hearing outside other locals received a Sunday roast. I guess being local give you special treatment. Sorry - just the impression we got. The communication could have been better! X

Sunday carvery is very nice. Good selection, generous serving and very tasty. Will be back after I have a long lay down.

Wonderful pub, with delicious food....staff are very friendly and welcoming....rooms are gorgeous....stayed there 3 times this year, and going back the first week of October....perfect location!!

Food is good, but they have ZERO idea on how to pour a pint of Guinness. Please learn.

Popped in with my partner after a long day in the sun, everything was superb! Great selection of drinks including good cider options which is a bonus in my book! We had 2 of the tapas dishes to start which were delicious!! Followed by the toad in the hole and a roast pizza sandwich. Finished up with the cheesecake of the day ( white chocolate and biscof) which was phenomenal! The portion sizes are incredible and the food is beautiful! Staff are super friendly making you feel welcome and at ease straight away. We will absolutely be back again soon!

Absolutely amazing food, large portions, good prices and a very creative menu which I loved. Located in the beautiful Matlock, there are plenty of things to do before, or after your meal. Staff were lovely and very accommodating. It was busy, but not enough to impact service, or your meal. Very well managed. Highly recommend the fish and chips sharing board!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Absolutely Fantastic! We popped into The Remarkable Hare in Matlock for a bite to eat before starting the journey home after a lovely couple of days away — and we’re so glad we did! We both ordered a roast dinner; my girlfriend had the gammon ham, and I went for the roast beef. Each came with a perfectly crisp Yorkshire pudding, beautifully roasted vegetables, and all the trimmings. Honestly, these were probably the most amazing roast dinners we’ve ever had — cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour. To drink, my girlfriend enjoyed two glasses of wine, and I had a pint of Neck Oil, which was perfectly poured. Adding to the atmosphere was a fantastic live performer playing guitar in the corner — a brilliant touch that made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Warm, welcoming, and full of charm — The Remarkable Hare really lives up to its name. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Matlock!

Cute setting and they're definitely making an effort towards a gastropub. Very generous portions but the food was a bit hit and miss. The pork tenderloin was superb and we were recommended the disco fries so we tried that but weren't too impressed. We had the Korean fried chicken disco fries and I honestly have never had fried chicken with such thick hard batter. The batter was a bit unpleasant and almost as much as the chicken itself. The sauce was also a bit too sweet and unbalanced in flavour profile. It was harnished with deep fried kale which was just inedible, like trying to chew through plastic. Similar for the camembert bites, the breading was just too thick and hard and made it difficult to enjoy the dish. That said the other dishes were good and the service was excellent. We would go again to try different items.

Just had the most amazing breakfast at the Remarkable Hare. Amazing quality ingredients, lovely staff, great atmosphere. We also happened to drop lucky with a 50% off the food, introductory offer for the first month, which we were totally unaware of! Even at full price this was worth it. Thank you very much

Very nice pub with a steampunk feel. We had the Cheesy Hare loaded fries which was a huge portion and very tasty with sriracha mayo. Prices for food are average for the area and the draught beer is very reasonably priced. The staff were lovely and very welcoming.

Me, my girlfriend and dog popped in for dinner and couldn't have picked a better place! Smiley and helpful staff, fast and delicious food and great prices! Had a dog station with treats, water, bowls, toys and even matts. Staff even brought treats to our dog, and offered water. 5 stars all round from Scotland :)

Lovely place, the waiter went above and beyond, helping us by moving tables and being kind and patient the whole time with fussy eaters ordering specific orders, so thank you to him. Great quality tasty food, drinks and pastries too. Brilliant people.

Great tasting flat white and even better bacon sandwich, definitely recommend this. I appreciate that the sauce is provided separately in a small bowl! More on the expensive side price-wise but high quality ingredients, friendly staff and nice location, so can't complain.

we visited again after two years, I ordered cool river full english, the black and white puddings were a bit in too small portion that's why I marked down one star. my friend had the cheese and onion quiche and was delicious. the price of full In a hot day, if you would like a bit cooler, cafe is fitted with air condition. The quiches and the hot sandwiches are delicious.

Superb Afternoon tea! Very posh with sandwiches (no crusts!), scones and wonderful cakes. We will visit again. Breakfast and bacon cobs! Highly recommended.

I took part in the half day sourdough course and it was exceptional. Keith knew everything there was to know about the bread making process. He made it informational, relaxed and fun. I ended up with two incredible loaves of sourdough as well as some Chelsea buns. Lots of snacks and drinks throughout the course was an additional bonus. It was a great way to spend a Saturday morning and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to improve their baking. Thanks Keith and the entire Loaf team, you've got something really special here!

This is our local bakery. The bread is great, but I highly recommend their chicken and mushroom slices! As well as shopping we’ve also done one of their baking courses and have two more books. It was great fun and very informative too.

Loaf are one of our suppliers! Their customer service is first class, their bakes are phenomenal! We’ve been a couple of times for brunch and the service and food is exceptional.

OMG What's not to like! Lovely village (very small) with some typical village shops including the Loaf which is a bakery/cafe. The bread is famous across Derbyshire (and can be sourced at Matlock market on Wednesdays just be early!) and is just amazing. The cafe is busy locally and rightly so..... 5*s across the board

Nice place , could do with a more varied menu for breakfast . My order has been forgotten quiet often and when I asked about it the last time I was told they were busy and it was in the way , not very friendly - I watched as they then proceeded to speak to another team member and quiet clearly it had been forgotten . Dog friendly and the pizza take a way is great The quiche to take out is tasty

We used the Loaf’s delivery (and by accident collection) service via text. We ordered loaf boxes and various items to be delivered to ourselves and our in-laws. The service provided by Suzie and the team was really good, the food itself is fresh and so tasty. With excellent feedback to all those we shared it with. I can’t wait until lockdown is lifted so we can go and try The Loaf’s cafe facilities. Thank you again, you’ve been brilliant!

We came here for a meal on Friday 27th June. The meal and service were excellent. All four of us commented how delicious the food looked and tasted. It was piping hot and well presented. We had a bit of banter with the landlord, he was very friendly. We would certainly come back when we are here in Matlock next time. 10/10 from us xx😉

Went here on holiday as the home made steak and stilton pies were recommended, they did not disappoint, absolutely delicious, filled with meat and cheese and homemade made gravy, a general portion. Very friendly pub chatted to the locals .

Called for a drink as this was my dads local over 45 years ago. Asked if they had a table for Sunday lunch, unfortunately hadn't any Sunday lunch left but offered us the steak and ale pie. Absolutely delicious 😋

This is a lovely little proper pub which does a brilliant pie. I would definitely recommend the steak and ale pie, it's the best I have had in Matlock. The pub is dog friendly throughout and has a good atmosphere with a mix of locals and visitors. It does food Thursday - Sunday. There is free street parking outside.

I didn’t eat here as I just popped in for a G&T, but I really enjoyed my visit. Staff were friendly and I was made to feel welcome. It was quiet when I visited, but I can imagine the pub gets very busy at the weekend.

Nipped in for a few drinks and snacks. Great ale and choices of cocktails which was really yummy. Had some cheesy chips and pork pie, 10/10! Little wait on the food but it was very busy in there. Fun decor. Really like it here!

Ok, so we continue our journey. The wine bar has left much to be desired so you cross the road. You’ve heard rumours they’ve got the vocation on draught. The rumours are confirmed and the pint is delicious. You get a side of cheesy chips and really settle in. Half of the pint is down and you realise, oh, I need a wee. You pootle on over to the ladies toilets. You arrive; you’re greeted with the most overwhelming stench of piss. Hmmm, no thanks. Nevertheless you still need to empty your bladder so you accept your fate. You sit down, oh, no lock on the door. One unsettling minute later, you’ve emptied your bladder and you’re back to drink your vocation; hoping it’s enough to blur your bathroom experience.

Nice variety of beer that changes. Cask and keg lines of craft beer but also keg lines of more commercial beer that you find in most pubs. Nice section of snacks. The only thing i would say is that it looks like it needs a bit of TLC like the ladies bathroom the dryer didn't work and trying to close the door to the loo was difficult amd the TV showing the beer that previously worked isn't now and trying to see the lines of beer was difficult. However the staff were helpful in going through what they had on. But these things are minor the beer was great and the atmosphere was welcoming.

Yeah not a bad little McDonald's. The 'delicious burger' and cryptic 'C S' signs were the highlight, Anyone fancy telling me what it means? They smashed out some Classic music to make our stay that bit extra luxurious. Managed to nab a free bottle of water. Tabel service 20 minutes before store closing and they still wore a grin on there face. Will be obnoxiously revving whilst reversing into a parking bay again soon.

Being situated at the outskirts of a tourist town, this can be a busy place at many times of the day. Strangely, we’ve found it busier on a Sunday morning than the same time on a Saturday! The drive-thru helps to keep it a busy place on most days. Always difficult to review McDonald’s in terms of the food, drink and layout with them being carbon-copies of most other McD’s venues. Main points to note… pleasant staff who handle my gluten free (NGCI) orders well, and it’s kept clean and tidy.

Staying in Matlock for a few days and used the app to order food whist waiting in the car. Very quick service and staff member even wished me a good weekend. I can't recall any McDonald's restaurants where staff are actually friendly. Food was decent also and everything correct for 5 people. You should set an example for other branches as the standard others should work to. Good job Matlock branch.

This is by far the dirtiest Mcdonalds I’ve ever been to. The tables were dirty, a lot of tables still had rubbish on them, the floor looks like it hadn’t been swept or mopped for days. I asked to speak to the manager who said he should send someone out to sort it, and said he’s trying to maintain it. We finished our drinks and at no point did anyone come out to clear tables or sweep the floor, we sat outside for 10 minutes and still no one attempted to clean up!!!!! The amount of staff sat outside on breaks or in the kitchen standing around was unbelievable! The ones that were working looked like they’d rather be anywhere else than there and another we watched take an order to a customers car didn’t look very smart, shirt was untucked and his trousers were dirty! Other niggles were the machine wasn’t printing receipts and milkshakes were unavailable

Cheeseburger(s) had to be remade TWICE due to the pictured SLOP they served us the first TWO times (see images - but we didn’t even bother to take a picture of the worser burger !) My wife and I were only in there 20 minutes, but we heard 2 other customers having to either have their food remade or demanding refunds. Usually I would say ‘just an off night’ but looking at the recent reviews, I’m now very sceptical and shall not be returning !

Take way, orderd 20 chicken nuggets they completely forgot them, had to go back in to collect and they forgot smarties mcfully as well. When we went back in the staff was not happy with us as though we had lied. We also ordered 2 fillet of fish with extra sauce. Both the nuggets and especially the fish was burnt 🔥 and well overcooked inedible completely Let as just wasn't worth going back in for the unprofessional attitude and service.

Ordered from uber eats several times. EVERY SINGLE TIME FOOD WAS MISSING. It's like they don't even bother or care, so if I was you I'd avoid this place at all costs unless you are going in to the redteraunt to eat, it's the only way you can guarantee you get what you pay for. If I could give 0 stars for service I would, it's been at least 5 times they haven't delivered everything ordered, so it's not even like it's something you can say is an accident, it's just ineptitude. Having worked at a mcdonalds myself in the past, it's really not hard to get orders correct.

The clan came up in the cable cars and we had a reservation booked here yet nothing seemed reserved and it felt very impulsive with the staff. We were shown to some tables but it was very crowded inside and we requested another spot so got seated outside, thankfully it was a nice enough day. Once the order was in place the food took a while to come out and it came out staggered so some had to wait longer for their food. The food itself wasn't anything to write home about. All the pasta dishes were over cooked and were soft and mushy. Yet I liked the nachos as they were freshly fried even though they were a little over done. It's really the only place for food up here but the town isn't fair off. Yet I guess the location means they can get away with a lot more laxity. It's pretty pricey for what you get but I think on a quieter day the food would be better prepared. Hope you have a better experience than we did. Enjoy.

Vista Bar & Restaurant, perched atop Abraham's Height, offers a fantastic spot to enjoy a refreshing beer and a delicious lunch while taking in the stunning valley views. A visit to this location wouldn’t be complete without stopping by Vista. We had a wonderful family outing on the mountain, which we wrapped up with a somewhat satisfying meal at the restaurant. Our order included pizza, a Chicken Tikka Wrap, and fries. While the portions were slightly on the smaller side for the price, the flavors made up for it—especially the Chicken Tikka, which was the highlight of our meal. The best was the view from the top and the customer service. Food can be improved.

Personally I didn’t love the vegan burger I’d ordered as I thought it was quite bland, but my son and daughter-in-law did enjoy the dishes they’d ordered. Drinks were good and service was great. As it was a lovely day, albeit windy, we sat outside so we could enjoy the sun and views. My final thoughts are that I would visit here again, but I wouldn’t order the vegan burger!

Had a panini in the cafe. As the photo shows the filling is only around the outer edge. The inside is devoid of any filling. This is an absolute disgrace, charging £8.95 for a mostly dry piece of bread. You are better off taking a picnic and enjoying the views available.

Me and my family went there for lunch and had already made a reservation in advance. They asked us if we wanted to sit inside or outside and we were happy with outside seating. We got sat and then came time to order we ordered our food. About 20minutes later our starters came out and we had finished those then they took our dishes back. The food was all home made and good portion sizes but the kids menu options all come with chips on the side this wasn't stated on the menu so we ordered more chips and ended up with extra chips. I got the pasta but it was soft and mushy and the sauce was really watery. The service wasn't the greatest, most of the workers were just walking around not bothered people were waiting for them but there was this one lady called Bethan who was the most hardworking one of them all she was literally running around to do things for people and make sure everyone had what they needed and made our visit just that much better. One thing i was say is that it was quite expensive. But overall wasn't terrible.

Generally quite a nice coffee shop, with friendly staff and decent drinks. The layout is a bit odd, meaning it feels quite cramped in the middle. It was also really hot in there, so difficult to get comfortable. The blender was also ridiculously loud, I could barely hear the barista when I was ordering

Lovely staff. Our favourite place to sit in for a coffee. My daughter loves the cakes and biscuits here. She loves the smoothies/iced smoothies. Always tip, staff deserve it they work hard to make you happy. They Have a great range at great price.

Not too bad and despite us turning up at 5pm (closing at 5.30pm) - the staff were helpful. However, the girl was putting the cakes away which dropped on to the floor. Instead of throwing them away she put them back into a large Tupperware box. Not very hygienic. Overall, nice location and drinks were okay. If we hadn’t have seen the cake saga we would have voted higher.

Love, love, love this cafe. The strawberry, watermelon, mint smoothie was delicious. Avocado toast, just right. The ploughmans lunch was on spot. A must visit if you are in Matlock.

Took my Mum for an afternoon tea last weekend and it was absolutely lovely! Great value for the amount of food you get and great quality fresh sandwiches and cakes. Would definitely recommend over other places! £30 for the lot which included an upgrade from tea to coffee without question! Other places would charge that per person and be nowhere near as nice! Would definitely recommend and will be back! X

A small café tucked away in the streets of Matlock serving coffee and lovely baked treats. We had the carrot cake, a cappuccino and the mini Victoria cake. The baked goods were fresh and so cute! The micro flowers were a lovely touch and crumb was tender and moist. The cafe itself was decorated beautifully and made for lovely pictures!

Pleased we found this little gem. Excellent quality food. Great to find somewhere that uses good quality, doorstop style bread. Homemade cakes are delicious, wonderful coffee & thick, creamy hot chocolate. Would definitely return & highly recommend.

Black forest cake was sublime! Home made, so fresh, dense but light, tons of cherry and we were even offered pouring cream which my husband was delighted with! Coffees were good.

A lovely afternoon spent here resting our legs after a long day out! The staff were welcoming and friendly. There were quite a few bakes on display which looked appetising! There’s also gifts and cards on display! It’s also dog friendly too. The drinks came pretty quickly and we have have some refreshments whilst watching the world go by!!

The zinc café/gift emporium is set in an old re purposed stationery shop and very reminiscent of days gone by , the zinc's atmosphere is tranquil and relaxed with a boutique style approach to your shopping experience and also has a very good selection of cards and souvenirs that are very unique and of a very high quality and are at reasonable cost for a tourist area . The zinc dinning experience is truly a pleasure and portion sizes are generous and presentation of meals is of a very good standard . The zinc is a great place for a good cup of coffee !! which is a high quality blend and medium bodied with a good depth of flavour , that compliments the food here on offer , and is the ideal after dinner drink with a slice of one of the very special fresh baked specialty cakes they have here in abundance ! . I myself have tried most and prefer the cherry Bakewell which seems to have a great following with the locals and visitors alike . The zinc's tea is also very good and is served in your own tea pot and is the more traditional leaf tea and should please the more serious tea lover . The zinc's savory selection and baguettes are very good value and my RECOMMENDATION is the bacon brie and cranberry served with a light salad and a side of crisps , and is an ideal warm up snack when it's a cold day . The zinc's staff are friendly and welcoming and always make the zinc dinning experience a special treat . So if you like a good cup of tea or a good quality coffee with tasty snacks and freshly baked cakes and good levels of service the zinc could be the place for you ! .

We called in for a few sandwiches and drinks. It was not busy. We waited over 25 minutes and were getting a little annoyed as we had to ask if they'd forgotten us but we finally took the sandwiches and then headed on to a local attraction. Upon opening the ham sandwich we saw the bread was disgusting and covered in blue mould. The ham was also grey. Hideous.

Cute and quirky cafe at the bottom of Cromford hill, popular with cyclists and serving all the usual favorites. Offers great value and a great stop to refuel before taking on that next climb 🚲 "Some might say" it's just round the corner from Cromford train station too, so a real Oasis. 🤓

American tourist visiting Cromford Mill, Cromford Canal, and High Peak Junction. I visited Cromford on May 10 2025. The weather was great. It was sunny, warm, but not hot. By the end of my visit I was hungry so I stopped at Tor Cafe for something to eat. Tor Cafe is located on the corner of Derby Rd and Mill Rd. Tor Cafe is not a fancy place. But the place is run by locals. The food is good and reasonably priced. The staff is helpful and friendly. I got a little breakfast sandwich (ham, sausage, and egg), a cup of tea, and a shot of espresso. Tor Cafe has seating upstairs, outdoor dining, with tall trees providing shade on a warm day. It is a hole-in-the-wall. But it is a great little-hole-in-the-wall.

I loved this place! Loads of vegan options, delicious, unpretentious, well-made classic "caff" food, incredibly good value (I had a HUGE vegan breakfast for £8.50) and really friendly staff. One thing it isn't is remotely fancy: the toilet layout is... idiosyncratic (functional, but unusual: you have to walk out of the main cafe to a funny little outhouse round the back), and the cafe is quite small and a bit dark (understandable, as it's an old building set into a hillside). It's also quite small, so possibly not great for larger groups? It might not be for everyone, but I found it quirky, homely, and a fab place to eat!

Great service and lovely food. This is our 3rd time ordering a delivery and each time the food has arrived on time. We ordered the point special kebab this time. Comes with chicken kofta and donner, optional salad, sauces, and choice of nan or pitta. All was lovely but the chicken was so succulent. Also ordered the Italian garlic pizza with cheese. OMG I couldn't stop eating it!!! It was gorgeous. We will definitely become regulars. 😁

After a few drinks in Matlock town, called in to grab some dinner, ordered 2 kebabs.. price didn’t quite match the order and prices on the menu, never thought to question it, the other half did have a few specific requests. Got home to eat our dinner to find out the bag was full of food we hadn’t ordered! But had been charged for!!! As for the restaurant itself… If you saw the conditions of which your food was being stored and prepared in… you’d think twice about ordering from here!! Witnessed the “cook” drop a bag of fries all over the floor pick them up and put them in the fryer!! Will never eat from here again.

Rang up to try and iron it out, and I was met with the staff telling me it wasn’t possible and to call back later to get it sorted out. Call back later, and I’m told to wait another 20 minutes for the boss to come back, after which he’ll give me a call. I never got the call, or my money back. Go elsewhere.

No information given whilst ordering, in fact your order total shows a reduced amount. Nearly £30 for 2 small kebabs, delivered !? Wouldn't mind so much but, been a regular customer for over a year. Imagine the scene, you walk in there, it’s a sunny Saturday afternoon; you’ve had a few drinks and you fancy sharing a charcuterie bored. There’s 5 of you. You look at the menu, charcuterie £18.99 to share. You sit outside “by the river” (a bed of weeds and neighbouring gravelled gardens) and you eagerly await said charcuterie. Here it comes: 10 grapes, two pieces of brie, 2 tonnes of blue cheese and 3 (THREE) pieces of bread. I personally wasn’t satiated by 0.6 pieces of stale baguette but I did enjoy my jubel. Worst case scenario you can cross the road and get cheesy chips.

The beer garden is a little hidden gem! Looking over the river. Great choices of wine. We had a meat and cheese board which was next level! So so tasty. Live music was brilliant. Definitely worth a visit. Will be returning

Ordered a 12 inch Meat Feast with tomato base, a 12 inch pepperoni with garlic base and a chicken burger meal with a drink. Seems easy enough right? Wrong. The meat feast came with both tomato and garlic base, as did the pepperoni, and to top it off, the burger meal didn't come with a drink. Won't be ordering from here again.

Great pizza place, lovely people and the pizzas are amazing! Very fair price compared to other places in matlock such as dominos etc. Their tomato sauce they use for the pizzas is just amazing! Some of the best pizzas i have ever had. I come here regularly and never have any problems, despite some of the bad reviews. Its also amazing service, with it taking under 10 minutes for them to prepare and cook 2 pizzas, fries, and a 1.5L bottle of coke. I think thats impressive. If you want pizza in matlock, come here! Amazing service from Pizza Connection, after just 25 minutes from ordering online and the food for 6 adults had arrived! I honestly cannot believe how good their chicken kebab was at under £7! The rest of the family enjoyed pizza and their 'pizza box' option which is definitely great value for money!

Placed order online for a pizza at a cost of £9. to be delivered. When driver arrived he insisted it was £14. His reason being I didn't spend £10. Nowhere did it tell me I had to spend a minimum of £10. Likewise a £5 charge for delivery of no more than a 1.5 mile from the business to my home is daylight robbery. I will never use this place again.

Found piece of grass in my pizza order chip spice which didn’t come and ketchup wasn’t provided with another order of chips order 1.5 liter bottle but got a 1.25 liter bottle unacceptable really.

Great food, but they keep forgetting to deliver drinks with the food. This is the second time this has happened. Food is great, but service sucks. Don't even try to get these fools to finish a delivery if they screw up and forget some of it.

Over the years , we’ve bought sandwiches for walking lunches at various places in Matlock. Mrs Tiggy Winkles has recently become our go-to place. Reasonably priced and plenty of choice. Takeaway salad bowls are enormous and excellent. (No idea what the previous review about fish and chips is about. I think the reviewer must mean somewhere else. It’s a takeaway sandwich shop!)

Smallest portions of fish & chips we've ever had (asked for normal), and chips were terrible, soggy but hard, nasty flavour. Most of mine had black bits so I couldn't even eat them, I was still hungry afterwards, unheard of. Very disappointing. We got there 20 mins before closing, but staff were already washing floors, keen to go, and unwilling to do anything fresh. Guess we got the scrag ends of the day.

Just had 2 jacket spuds with fillings which were both very good. Bakewell tart was delicious. Excellent value for money and service with a smile. Will definitely go again

Friendly staff, small but lots of choice, good value for money and lively fresh food, we had two different salad boxes, a turkey sandwich and a bacon burger with drinks etc.

Lovely selection of fillings and freshly prepared while we waited. Tiny place packed with tasty stuff! Friendly and helpful staff and excellent value. They prefer cash due to costs but there's a cash point a couple of doors away so not a problem. Visited years ago so glad to see it's still going.

Order was received in timely but the pizza wasn’t sliced and quantity of chicken and bacon is very less.

I buy a pizza here most weeks and sometimes twice a week so a very loyal customer. Where I've previously received an extra free dip today I was told I was only allowed one due to...."cost cutting" by management. Well management you've just lost a loyal customer over a cost to you of about 8-10p per unit of dip. One thing I know about business, especially in these tough times, is loyalty is key! I suggest you have a better understanding of margin and loyalty. Regards.

Went to collect my order, when all of a sudden I heard shouting. Looked through the window and it appeared that two EMPLOYEES were having a physical alteration…😱!!! One of which walked out 2 minutes later with blood down his arm, it appeared he had been bitten by the man he had a fight with. At least my pizza didn’t have a bite out of it, LOL. Not ideal in-front of customers. Hope both parties were ok! Pizza was lush, but didn’t get offered a refund. Expected more from dominos as I love the brand😢😢😢😢.

Stopped off here to get a quick takeaway Served quickly and efficiently Pizza base was a little stodgey (should of got thin base) and pizza was average in taste- not much sauce and cheese on the base , so wasn't the best but was ok. Cookies were really good and soft melted inside.

Wedges completely undercooked could not eat them. Pizza really thin / flat from this Dominos, like they don't use enough dough. me and my partner both feel sick after our meals. Delivery driver was nice though.

Ordered the 2 for Tuesday pizzas as seemed like a great deal. Website was easy to use and the delivery arrived when it said it would. We ordered 2 different bases with different toppings and both pizzas were spot on. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because they weren't overly hot, I would of expected them to be a little warmer than they were.

If you are staying in Matlock and need to do a bit of grocery shopping, you will first think this is a bit out of town -even when one considera how small Matlock town centre is. However, it can be closer than you think. Find the train station and there is a shortcut to Sainsbury’s via a bridge over the tracks. It is a clean store, a bit more compact than my local Sainsbury’s is, staff are friendly and helpful.

Accessible over a footbridge from the railway car park, this one is a bit out of the way from the town centre. First sight of the store sign from the footbridge honestly had a kind of post apocalyptic feel to it. Faded and overgrown I began to wonder what terrors might lay within as I approached. Fortunately (or otherwise depending on how much adventure you want in your life) the rest of the store was entirely normal, and offered everything you would normally expect from a Sainsburys. If you like your shopping with just a hint of adventure at the entrance then try this one out.

Never have I have been in a shop with so many rude people my wife is in a mobility scooter I'm trying to follow. shoving trolley in front of me so I could not get near my wife and then blocking her in from all sides. It's not Sainsbury's just the inconsiderate people that were shopping at that time

There are not many supermarkets that you can get to by steam train (also plenty of car parking too). Decent size of supermarkets with the usual Sainsbury's selection of products.

Popped in here for a few bits and some treats for the kids during a holiday stay in the Peaks. Very clean and tidy store. We had difficulties with the self service and the treats we tried to purchase were not registering correctly. Within a few minutes a very kind staff member tried to help but was also unable to scan them through so went to the manager and was given them for the children for free due to our hassle. What a nice thing to do and I wish all supermarkets were as customer focused as this. The lady who served us was very friendly and helpful. Superb, thanks again.

M&S Matlock starts with a decent sized car park above the shop and very small one at the side of the shop but all in all plenty of parking. Although it's a relatively small shop with know clothing compared to Chesterfield. but matlock is without a doubt still my Favourite shop and it's got nothing to do with being a Gist Driver i just like the food quality. Most of the are frendly and very helpfull clean and tidy. Not forgetting no online shop is picked and packed on the shop floor like other shops like tesco all M&S online shopping is done via Ocado. I just wish i could give matlock store 10 stars. LOVE IT HERE

Very quiet. A good choice of food. Got everything we looked for. Car park managed by the local council with loads of space with £1.5 for first hour.

Having used this food hall since it opened, the availability, particularly of chilled product is so hit and miss and has deteriorated to the point that it is no longer possible to use this shop as a credible place to do a weekly shop as more than likely they will not have what you want, especially if you want fruit, veg and chilled items It is probably easier to go back to Waitrose in Buxton.

On Bank Holiday Monday I tried scanning my Nectar card instead of Sparks card when I started to pay at self service till for my shopping! James came and sorted me out and also offered to see if I had any special offers on Sparks that I had missed. He noticed I'd bought a punnet of strawberries and said he'd just been marking some as reduced and went to fetch me some but sadly already gone. Such a kind, polite and friendly member of staff

Popped in for our last meal whilst we holidayed in Matlock. The coffee and the CLUB sandwich were pretty good. Especially if you’re hungry. Would love to see what the bar is like in the evening as well. Service was great and we welcomed with smiles. If you’re staying in the area, I’d recommend eating here.

Very cosy place with great drinks and delicious food. Came here on Sunday morning for breakfast with some friends. We were seated pretty much immediately.Their hot chocolate is outstanding. First time I have tried their “Shakshuka” which is poached eggs in Mediterranean style sauce, topped with crumbled feta & side of a toast- was so tasty, well-prepared and full of flavour. The all day breakfast my husband ordered was also stunning, good value, he really enjoyed that. Friendly service, loved all the vintage decor too!!!

Absolutely fantastic place so far in Matlock. Friendly and accommodating staff. Food was delicious as well as the beers from their own brewery. Not only beer but tea & coffee were nice too. Atmosphere was awesome so chill and friendly. Definitely coming back.

Contemporary restaurant serving a good selection of food and drinks. I had a vegetarian pizza and coffee, both of which were excellent. Staff were great and made good recommendations. Definitely worth visiting.

Just great. A massive choice of top notch beers in a relaxed cafe bar. Great food served by a lovely bunch of young staff. Try the coffee too. Lovely.

Really need to sort out there staffing, only one person serving with a queue going down an isle. Not the first time too I have been on a few occasions and only one person serving. They rang the bell and asked for more staff and no one came.

It's an Iceland food shop which was handy for when we wanted to use it from our holiday cottage. No complaints at all.

No dedicated parking and difficult to get shopping to car now they have stopped people taking their trollies due to people stealing them. Staff very helpful, good prices and choice. Need to get a gluten free range which they don't at the minute.

Visited today, nice cocktails would recommend the tropic like it's hot and the pear drop. The only issue we had was the service itself. I ordered at the bar and went back to my seat thinking they would have brought it to the table as the bar was quiet and no where on the menu did it advise it was only bar service. They placed our drinks on the bar and did not shout over saying your drinks are ready until 10 minutes and we wondered where the drinks were until we saw them and asked if the drinks were ours. Would not recommend the service.

Lovely place but not as good as Belber. Unfortunately all their outdoor beer garden tables were left uncleared by the staff and the area was full of wasp's which made sitting outside unpleasant. Only stayed for a one drink due to wasp’s and untidiness.

Lovely place, was attracted by terrace but the attention was sooo bad and rude. Only one other person there and her only question to me was… yes? With a pissed off face, maybe a sour face is her normal face. So we just left.

It's been refurbished since the current photos were taken and much more contemporary in feel, with a Shaun Of The Dead vibe! Lovely selection of beers in casks and kegs, which are changed regularly. Friendly staff and a decent selection of board games if you need a child-friendly diversion. Highly recommended!

We visited during our trip to Matlock. It's a nice little pub, great atmosphere and friendly staff. A nice selection of beer that changes weekly. They also serve food from a local butcher, we had huntsman pie, a special variant of pork pie as they explained.

Very good cafe. Recently been refurbished. It's got smaller tables now which can be put together to accommodate larger parties if required. In addition it's hot a great brand new 🍦 ice cream and milkshake machine 😋 it's amazing. Food freshly cooked. No frozen food. Great macaroni cheese and tea cakes were lovely as well. All the meals are really good and the owner is fantastic and puts his heart and soul into making a success of the place.

Found this place on a rest stop from a drive North and was not disappointed. Situated direct opposite an M&S food hall, but if you bring your money here it will go a lot further. Had the all day breakfast (best three words to see when you're hungry), of which there were several options available. Food was cooked fresh and there was plenty of it. Would come here more often if I was not just passing through.

As soon as you walk through the door you receive the warmest of welcomes!!! Had breakfast here twice.....all fresh cooked!!! 1st morning we had the big breakfast (without black pudding!) It was amazing!! 2nd morning we had breakfast 1. You get a choice of toast or fried bread. So glad we found this place as its certainly one you don't want to miss! Highly recommend!

What a find this was walked through Matlock saw the sign and walked down to it. Immediately made to feel welcome even Ralph the dog. Had a seat and our order was taken within a few mins a perfectly cooked breakfast was served with an amazing hot chocolate. Can't rate the cafe high enough for food quality, price, cleanliness and friendliness if your in Matlock definitely pop in.

Man was extremely rude serving, rolled his eyes when asked for sauce and was just very very rude and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. The ice cream man on the carpark up the road was very nice and friendly and I e cream delicious... will never return to this shop he needs his attitude checking

Aside from the insult of asking for 50p for a flake when the ice cream itself is already at an inflated price of £5, it was the worst ice cream I’ve ever tasted in my life. I’ve never been compelled to leave a review about something as trivial as this, but it really is that bad. I’m not sure what the Halls thing is about but evidently it is a hoodwinking branding gimmick. You can truly get better tasting ice cream from a tub at Aldi. Having just been to an excellent ice cream place in Shrewsbury (£4.50 for the equivalent), I suggest if the owners have any sense of pride about quality that they do a bit more market research on what a £5 ice cream should taste like. Particularly during a cost of living crisis, this really is a slap in the face.

We visit Matlock bath often. and usually pop in This ice-cream shop for a treat on the way home. NEVER again!! Due to the awful older woman behind the counter. My partner ordered our ice-cream and she obviously misheard the order, When corrected she spat her dummy out and carried on saying he had ordered wrong. He hadn't because I was stood right next to him, Anyhow as we walked out she Shouted sarcasticly "The customer is always right" Well let me tell you she got it both barrels from him ,,, The cheek mare,, Rude woman needs to accept it's ok if you get things wrong, just accept it, Don't try and show customers up ,

What a fantastic array of different flavour ice creams Sadly we didn't get a chance to try them all but what we did have was absolutely delicious.

Nice sweetshop but the ice cream was very lacklustre and flavourless. No signs to say they only accept cash so had to walk quite far down the street to get cash from where I was told there was a machine, which charged me £1.50. In this day and age there is no excuse except tax evasion to be cash only. Definitely wouldn't go here again

Ice cream was lovely, however the main Halls ice creams only takes cash, there are no signs anywhere stating this, albeit in all the other Halls ice cream shops there is a sign on the front door saying cash only. I was told there was a cash machine 6 doors down at the amusements. The cash machine charges £1.50 to withdraw cash. On returning to the shop explaining this, the staff were rude and abrupt with me when again questioned where the cash only sign was. They don’t have one! She did however take the £1.50 charge off the price of the ice cream so that was nice. But really need to sort a card machine out or have signs that clearly state “CASH ONLY”

We love French Wine People, they stock a lovely range of more unusual wines and are always happy to give good advice on what to buy. Their cases for every day drinking are great value and I never go anywhere else if I want to buy wine as a gift.

First visit today and really enjoyed looking around the shop and choosing a few wines. Good advice and a great selection of wines at every price point. Will definitely be back.

Did not have any food or access the restaurant, I will sitting on the bench outside the tavern waiting for my daughter to come out of the toilets nearby. My dog was sat next to me (daughter had accidentally taken the lead with her). The cashier lady, Sophia Hill came out and shouted “whose dog is that!” She was very intimidating, when I explained the dog was mine and was waiting for my daughter to come out of the bathroom with the lead she threatened to take my dog away if he was not put on a lead immediately. He is a therapy dog, was not causing any harm or distress to others. This behaviour was intimidating and threatening and not acceptable from staff at a family friendly park, very very rude and will not be going near that tavern again. Very embarrassing for someone with a social anxiety issue who has a therapy dog.

Fantastic place for a curry, the staff are wonderful, very attentive and welcoming. The atmosphere is just right not too noisy until we got here lol and last but not least the food was amazing, very nice and hot when brought to the table, no one was left waiting and we were all able to tuck in together. I had definitely got eyes bigger than my belly and I had to leave a little bit. I would definitely recommend you try The Shalimar for your next curry night 👍👌

What truly took us by surprise was the generosity and kindness of the team – they offered to pay the bill as a gift for our anniversary! We were completely blown away. It’s rare to find such heartfelt hospitality these days, and it turned a lovely evening into something truly unforgettable. If you’re anywhere near Darley Dale, Shalimar is an absolute must-visit. Went for a last minute meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Didn’t tell them that but the waiter spotted the cards we exchanged - he came straight back to the table to sprinkle it with confetti. Then at the end of the meal he brought us an anniversary card - and a cake, he had actually rung their delivery driver while out on a delivery and asked him to pop into the shop and buy one, because they hadn’t had enough notice to organise anything for us! If I could give ten stars for their service I would. And the same for the food which was absolutely delicious. Couldn’t have asked for a nicer spontaneous anniversary celebration! ❤️❤️❤️

The food was excellent – full of flavour, beautifully presented, and with generous portion sizes. The menu offers plenty of choice, including vegetarian and gluten-free options. We came to Viva for a family celebration after a wonderful day in the Peak District. The restaurant itself was nice, and the food was truly excellent – authentic and delicious. Unfortunately, the service completely ruined the experience. The staff openly laughed at our accents and even discussed it so loudly that we could hear them. This was extremely disrespectful and made us feel very uncomfortable. A restaurant should make all guests feel welcome, regardless of their accent or language skills. If you value respectful service, I would not recommend this place. The food may be great, but no meal is enjoyable when you are being mocked.

Starter was great. Steak dish was tough. Told the waiter he just said Oh and went away. My wife loves lasagne but didn't like it here.

My partner and myself came here for a meal on our one night get away. I honestly couldn't fault the service or the food super friendly and polite staff, the food came out hot and it was really nice and great value for money. We will deffo visit again. Thank you for a great evening 😊

Popped in by chance to see if a table was available for 4 people. Although it was busy, the waitress was able to find a table for us. We ordered our food and were not disappointed. Busy restaurant with open views in the kitchen. The chefs were non-stop all evening. Lovely atmosphere with a mixture of couples and families. I would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area.

That Carbonara Classico was absolutely fantastic! Great find in Matlock for authentic Italian food. The staff was nice and accommodated my group of 4 despite being almost packed. We ordered mains straightway and the portions were good and each dish was well appreciated by all. I ordered the Carbonara and it was sooooo good!! The sauce was just perfect- so light yet perfectly creamy! And the food came out piping hot. Only wished they had not taken that long to bring the food out. But if you crave for authentic Italian food while being in Peak District, must visit Viva!!

Out for a day trip.we booked ahead no problem. There was three of us including our baby. Food was very nice and came out in a timely manner. Pizza was a lovely thin base and cooked perfect. We all had a great time. Would recommend and go again

After recently moving back to the area, I spotted this restaurant when driving past. As italian is my favourite food, I decided to try it for a special family takeaway for my birthday. We found the food to be tasty, the staff were friendly. The atmosphere in the restaurant when I went to collect the food, was pleasant and relaxed, and was nicely decorated throughout. We found the price to be more than reasonable, and a good variety of food to chose from, even for picky eating kids. We will most certainly be going back. Thankyou for a lovely birthday treat.

Fairly big pub known for its food although i only popped in for a beer. Serves ale but I was on the lager as it was a sunny day. It’s pleasant sat out front ( people watching and vibe) and the back (has an actual fishpond). Has.occasional live music. recommended! 🍻 🐠

Nice pub with a cosy atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful on allergies. I got the marinara pizza, which is technically incorrectly named because marinara doesn't have cheese on, but honestly that doesn't matter because it was fantastic. Perfectly cooked, I took a picture underneath a slice just to show it off. It had so much flavour: the parmesan, the tomato, and oregano and garlic. I couldn't stop eating it. I had a side salad with it too which worked well with it. I also had a rum and coke which was a really good price. I'd like more rum options; that's the only negative I have. If I'm in Matlock Bath again I'll definitely come back

I went on the recommendation of my son who said he had the best loaded fries here. It was a sunny Sunday so I knew it would be busy, so we booked a table online. Despite the place being absolutely rammed, we were served quickly and the staff were all friendly. The food was really good. Actually better than I was expecting. The loaded fries were indeed great and I had the chilli beef which was lovely. We ended up asking for takeaway boxes because we had a lot left. Prices were reasonable for where we were and what we got.

Great food at this pub and relaxed service just sit down like a normal pub and go order at bar. Monday to wednesday they have two pizzas for £20 in the evening and they are really fantastic pizzas good crisp base very good sauce also very good pepperoni. Crispy chilli beef was great with huge helping of beef and the satay curry was super! With lots of fresh veg and even had bonito flakes on the rice. Also, puddings were generous portions, really nice but we could have shared one. Could have come here for the whole holiday with how much variety they have on the menu.

Unfortunately the food wasn't edible at all I ordered the 10oz steak I asked for it well done but it was burnt and I couldn't get my steak knife through it. My wife ordered fish and chips when I went to the bar to complain about the steak the very pleasant member of staff asked what she could do ie a refund I was hungry and was told it would take a while for another steak. In the end I ordered fish and chips which was vile hardly any fish and all batter,my wife didn't eat all her fish as she said it wasn't nice. Then when I had to ask for the difference in price for the fish and chips and the steak which I feel should have been handled by a member of staff not myself. The staff were young and doing a great job under a very busy pub however I feel as though the place was very understaffed which may have been the reason for this poor visit. As a first time visitor i feel that you must improve your food and get more staff to cope.

Nipped in on a Sunday lunchtime. We sat outside in the courtyard with the fish pond which was really nice. Food was great, we had a big table and people ordered everything from burgers to Sunday roasts and everyone really enjoyed their food. Three of us had pizza and all of us were really impressed with them. Proper freshly made pizza and a step above what I was expecting from a lunch at a pub and all at really reasonable prices Would definitely return

Popped in here on a Friday afternoon. Pub was nice, sat in the back garden by the little waterfall and had fish and chips!, which were very nice. Quick service and friendly staff. Good stuff all round.

Stopped for a midweek evening meal. It's just changed hands so they weren't fully up to speed, e.g. limited food and drink (hence only 3 stars overall). However they did cook up a fantastic butter chicken tailored just to the right level of spice for me. Interesting to see how the place develops.

Called in for drinks during a walk only to find it under new ownership, and now serving authentic Indian cuisine. We ordered starters and mains. All the food was fantastic and we'll definitely visit more often.

Stayed in a family room off the car park. We didn't expect much after reading reviews however the room was fine for our needs. Large comfy bed, room clean and warm. Bit tired in places and lacking in attention to detail however didn't impact our stay. We ate in the restaurant and the curries were really nice. Lovely village.

Recent new owners since earlier this year. Really good food and everyone I've spoken to really likes it. Slightly expensive, but you pay for what you get. Good 🍺, friendly staff. Would recommend. Can't comment on the hotel, but the new owners are trying to make it better (changing lots).

THIS REVIEW APPLIES TO THE RESTAURANT ONLY. A new Indian restaurant has restaurant has recently opened at Cottons which is in the centre of village. Beautiful food which can be modified to suit your tastes, good bar, new restaurant and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Does a take out service. Great value for money.

A great location as a base to explore the Peak District. The hotel is in a quaint village, but is a little on the shabby side. It is under new ownership, who have plans to remedy this.

Great choice of beer & cider; pub is also a microbrewery & is located in Bonsall in the beautiful Peak District. Superb Sunday roast (remember to book a table as they sell out quickly) & a very friendly atmosphere. Live music at weekends. Highly recommended & hope to revisit soon

What an absolutely fab pub. Amazing food, great atmosphere, quirky and fascinating decor, really welcoming and great live music with the landlady’s band. Couldn’t ask for a better place to spend a Saturday night. Loved it. Thank you Colette and Mick you are such great hosts. We will be back.

Our first visit since 2023 and did not disappoint. Fab staff, atmosphere, customers and of course the food. Bangers and mash made for one very happy hubby and my chicken skewers were spot on. Forgot to photo the brownie but was delish with lots of lovely ice-cream. Great choice of beers and ciders too. Two mains, one pud (shared - mostly 😜) and 6 drinks an absolute steal at £70

The pub was recommended by a friend and what a delightful experience. Mike and Colette manage the charming tradition pub offering a large selection of quality beers ciders, spirits and wines. The food was delicious with large portions, homemade and wow what a difference. The atmosphere is warm friendly with great humour and banter. Live music finished off our evening keeping us until closing time. If you want a pub with real people and the vibe of a village pub you won’t be disappointed

A fabulous pub, a real throw back to how great British pubs used to be. Independant, quirky and built on amazing hospitality. Real Ale, Real Food, Real People, where folk talk to people on the next table and due to no WiFi and low signal, people engage more with each other than their with their smartphones. It’s only small so book ahead.

I would highly recommend this pub, if you’re ever in the area. The atmosphere is very warm and friendly, the landlord and landlady are very welcoming. The pub itself is very quirky, loved the decor! Also, the food was delicious, I had the Sunday roast and my partner had the sausage and mash, both meals were nice and good value for money. We will definitely visit again.

First time here in this village and we went to this pub based on the reviews. We certainly not disappointed. It was a Friday night and we hadn't booked a table but they managed to squeeze us in. We both had our, I had chicken and leek my fella had homeity pie , both absolutely fantastic. The locals and staff were amazing, cider choose was brilliant, we have booked again for tomorrow night. Live music on a Saturday, can't wait xx

You’re not spoiled for choice for pubs in Cromford as I think there’s only 2. This is a decent sized pub and has outside seating. Beautiful building situated on a busy crossroads so you can sit out and see some action so to speak. Serves food and offers rooms. Nice cold lager on a sunny day and friendly service. 🍻

Called in for Sunday lunch. Two beef roast dinners ordered with a side of cauliflower cheese. Waitress service was excellent. Food not so. Roast potatoes half cooked , not eaten the Yorkshire pudding was cold, side of cauliflower cheese was not edible as the cauliflower was not cooked, and unfortunately the beef did not taste of any thing. Total waste of money. Will not be eating there again

Had a great burger and noticed the pizza oven — looks promising, so hopefully some pizzas are on the way soon! Really looking forward to coming back and giving them a try. The team were friendly and welcoming — shoutout to Glynn, who was especially attentive and made us feel right at home

Tried to get something to eat at 8.45 on a Saturday night only to be told chef had gone home, pizza oven was still going but no-one could use it. Had to go n to the pub garden/ car park to get someone to serve me as bar staff were chatting and smoking outside. This place looks lovely, but staff, service all a bit faulty towers.

Just had a two night stay here, accomodation OK, disappointed that no breakfast was available. Had an issue getting back into property with the lock after going out and the cleaner had to let us back in. Rooms definitely need upgrading and money needs to spent on it. No mattress protector on the bed which is not ideal in a bed and breakfast. Very busy and noisy main road so was woken early with the traffic.

Delicious food, great beer, very dribble wine and fantastic service! Would recommend for a meal or drinks. Can't comment on rooms as we didn't stay.

My friends and I visited the Greyhound on Saturday evening 20/05/25 having pre ordered our meals including starters. However, when it came to ordering our desserts we were told by the waiter that the chef had gone home (It was only 8.30pm) and should have pre ordered the desserts. We told them at no point were we given a dessert menu to do this. There were 18 of us so the pub missed out on a good profit. We felt sorry for the waiting staff who had to deal with this and can't fault their service, but we felt very disappointed by the chef's early departure knowing he'd left 18 people before we'd finished our meal.

Food was awful , naan was uncooked , tarka dal tasted like water bland no taste at all , we were told it is authentic Indian food , but I can say no where near authentic Indian taste , just bland uncooked food .

The food is to die for, fresh and hot. Great staff are friendly and attentive. Parking is an issue, but there are plenty of car parks around Matlock Bath, the heights of Abraham being the closest, we went on our anniversary we did not book and where a le to get a table, it was busy so would recommend booking so not to be disappointed, they also do takeaway as well 😋

Food was amazing! Enough from one meal to feed two people easily. Prices are good for the quality of food. Best of all the staff were so happy to help. They offered made me a half chicken and half veg curry as they knew I was undecided. They also made my curry mild as I requested. Honestly staff went above and beyond.

I had a pleasure to dine out in this lovely place. It's a place where you can taste authentic Indian cuisine. The meal was delicious and supreme, fresh tasting and adjusted to tanginess preferences. The portions are generous, you won't leave hungry. The menu is varied, for sure you'll find something for your taste. Have a look at wine list - the wine recommended by the staff was ideal and one of the best I've ever had. All reasonably priced. The customer service was amazing, very friendly, helpful and professional staff- there was no problem to adjust hot intensity of the meal, swap some ingredients and get wine recommendations. On the top of that- the place itself. It's decorated in modern way but still cosy and you feel welcome. The decor is fabulous. Music just completes the whole atmosphere, connecting the sublime meal, delicious food smells, excellent taste, the restaurant decor all together. My recommendation is 10 out of 5, it's one of the best places I have dined out (it's not only about the excellent food but the whole place itself) and for sure I'll be back when I'm in the area. PS. The restaurant is moved to the corner building.

Delicious poppadoms and subtle pickes. We shared starters that were also delicious. We enjoyed our mains a lot, however the Makhani dish was tasty but had a slight flavour of Heinz tomato soup. The chicken Murgh Masala was great.

Lamb bhuna tasted very mediocre very bland and tasteless, Ive tasted better curry Asda curry for 1. Partners meal was very disapointing. will not be visiting again, if you want curry avoid this place because the food has no depth of flavour you would expect at a decent curry house.

I have been to the balti several times before when at its old premises. I came to meet friends for dinner and I'm not sure what's happened (and it seems my opinion differs from most other reviews) but I found it was no where near as nice as I remember. We were a group of 5 and had a mix of meals between us. I chose the tandoori chicken tikka and tarka daal. The chicken was cooked well and tasted good, came with a salad and vegetable sauce (incidentally tasted very similar to the aubergine dish my friend had) . I'd say nice but didn't particularly stand out. Tarka daal is usually one of my favourite dishes, however in my opinion this one was bland and lacked any depth. Similar reports across our entire group. None of the dishes seemed to have much flavour or spice (for taste or heat. I generally don't like things to hot but this was the extreme opposite). Service was nice albeit slow. General overall feeling... mediocre and better options can be found within the vicinity. Wouldn't say no to a meal here if invited, but wouldn't go out of my way to book another myself any time soon. Maybe it was an off night?

Really pleasant atmosphere, with delicious seafood. Hadn't booked popped in just to see if we could be seated. Experienced lovely fresh food. Shame the outdoor bit at the back isn't utilised for drinks seating, etc, as it's got a magical feel.

Superb seafood. Tasty and clearly fresh. Cooked and plated in view of you. Get the mixed fish grill, 4 pieces of the days fish. Would be great if they were able to seat people in the cave, but health and safety may not approve. The owner is obviously into her sea food and chooses only the best. This may affect the menu, but that will be great.

Lovely little restaurant, with excellent food. They catered well to my slightly complicated dietary requirements, and everyone in our group of 5 had a delicious meal. The fish was cooked perfectly (which I suppose you'd hope would be a bare minimum for a seafood restaurant but you can never be sure!). The desserts we had were also very good, as was the wine. The kitchen is open so you can see your food being prepared, and it looks reassuringly clean and tidy! Ian the chef seems like a nice bloke too, and made me feel like my dietary needs were no problem at all. The building itself is quirky, tucked away in a courtyard and built into the side of the cliff, so it almost reminds me of the places built into the caves in Granada, Spain!

I wanted to eat at a seafood restaurant. I found this via Google. I had the seafood platter to start. Very large portion. Plenty of delicious seafood, nice sauces... (Maybe needs another slice of bread to mop them). My wife had the calamari special and enjoyed them too. I then had the fish mixed grill. Lovely food again. Several fish, served with gambas and pan fried carrots and parsnips. My wife had the fish and chips which she enjoyed. We had great desserts to finish with. I had a carrot cake and my wife a cheesecake. They are both handmade. We don't visit the area often but if we do, we will pay this restaurant another visit. It's worth it.

The Seafood Cave really is a gorgeous gem that feels built on love and a focus on quality - quality ingredients, service, presentation, and a beautiful authentic interior with all its quirks. I still can’t get over how incredible our food was. With an open kitchen to see your food being prepared and a window to the lit up cave, it was such an enriching dining experience. The energy is amazing at this restaurant - and it goes to show when the chefs and waitress were so kind and joyful and couldn’t do enough for you. One of the best places I’ve been. The people and quality ingredients truly make it the gem it is.

The welcome we got was superb the specials were explained very clearly. The food was excellent and presented very well. We will definitely be back even though they are an hour and a half away from our house. Oh and they are most definitely OPEN

Came here a year ago and the seafood platter was amazing. Unfortunately things have gone down hill with new ownership. Ordered the same seafood platter expecting to come with grilled octopus, a mousse and samphire. Neither the octopus nor the samphire were there at all and a watery sauce was apparently the mousse. Cannot express how disappointing this was, and it wasn’t even mentioned when ordering we had to point this out. Mussels and scollops were over cooked and tiny and mushy. And the prawn Marie Rose was purple?! Wishing I ordered the steak now. Can’t believe how much this place has gone down hill, and even though they took £6 off our bill, it pales in significance to the £30 they charged for the platter. Do not recommend until this new ownership sort things out. Stay clear.
