We visited this restaurant expecting a pleasant meal based on the positive reviews, but unfortunately, it turned out to be quite disappointing. We ordered two orata with vegetables. While one was decent, the other was terribly overcooked, making it nearly impossible to clean or enjoy. The side dish was also lacking in flavor, adding to our overall dissatisfaction. Considering the quality of the food, the price was unreasonably high. We expected much better, especially given the restaurant's reputation. Sadly, it did not live up to the hype, and we left feeling let down.

During a seminar organized from Belgrade, we had the opportunity to bring a group for dinner at this restaurant, and the experience was absolutely outstanding. The arrangement with the owners was smooth and easy, marked by professionalism and kindness. The dinner itself was excellent – everything was freshly prepared and incredibly tasty. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with a clean and pleasant atmosphere. A special thanks goes to the staff, whose spontaneous and friendly communication made the evening even more enjoyable. A wonderful touch was the introduction of the kitchen team at the end of the evening. The location of the restaurant is perfect – right by the water, which adds to the overall ambiance. Highly recommended for both individual and group visits!

I have to say im pleasantly surprised. Read a couple reviews of this place and i had some concerns that they might be just mediocre, overpriced food. It definitely is on the pricier side but i thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Firstly, they are very accomodate to english speaking customers which is nice. I got the creamed cod appetizer + the pasta w beets and fresh shrimps. The creamed cod appetizer was good and presented very typical triestan cold plates such as the cod, steamed octopus + potatoe, and the marinated sardines w pickled onions. 7.5/10 The PASTA was the highlight. The pasta is infused w beets:thus, giving a very refreshing taste. The raw shrimps were so fresh and divine. My only regret is that there wasnt more of it to match the pasta portion. Overall portion was good. I felt satisfied. Definitely unique pasta. Highly recommend. Service was very sweet, albeit alil slow due to rush hour. But thank you to the waiter who recommended the pasta! Wonderful views too.

Stopped for a glass of wine. It's a lovely location: very chill! In summary: great place, very nice wine, very friendly service. Warmly recommended. Four glasses of Istrian white wine for 19€.

Good quality fried seafood but the vegetables are almost non-existent. Price is extremely high (25€ for the dish +4€ cover charge) which is almost London price. There are plenty of alternatives with better quality and price. Not recommend this restaurant.

This is an overall nice restaurant with decent food and OK service. The menu features a good selection of reginal wine. The view is great, especially at sunset. However, for the price range, there is more pretence than actual quality. The staff could be more polite and helpful.

The view is 10 points out of 10. The service is very kind and the food is of good quality. Parking is a bit tricky, only few places in the yard, the rest remains on the narrow street. Absolutely recommended.

A Divine place, with beautiful people and enchatingly unforgettable views of Italian coast. We tried the aged "pekorino" or goat cheese it was yummy along with "frittata con zucchine" and "con cipolla". (And great options for vegetarians). Super friendly staff and locals. Oh and "vino roso" is homemade and rich, a must have 👌(great prices too)

General speaking, this is a nice restaurant. Comfortable environment, nice and funny boss, good food. From photo u could see all 3 dishes are seafood. First of all, they are all very fresh, secondly, the quantity is nice. The taste, quite ok, just the rice bit salty. The main reason that i recommend this restaurant is the boss, he is really nice and funny guy, he will give u suggestion if u are not sure. Last, there are no enough parking, so if u drive, better park when u nearby.

what a dissapointment! owner such a bad manner. we came with two hungry kids age 10 and the owner hated us already! questions that made us feel like idiots! we just wanted to eat. food was fine but all the talk before was terrible- why u are here ? who told u came here? thisnis not for strangers - italy? alway cool but this was so so bad! self centered owner hating kids.. gave us 60€ dor one grilled fish hmmm 12€ for bread that we didnt touched.. he made everything so we dont come again. sad sad and shame for italy!

Fantastic food, amusing and welcoming hosts, a view over the bay to Trieste, the perfect final night for our trip. With the menu ignored, Mr Renzo suggests a starter of scallops or what he calls "land scallops". Intrigued we opted for the latter which turned out to be razor clams, perfectly cooked and served. For main course the choice was Sea Bass in a light white wine sauce (no cream as it should be) or fresh tuna in a tomato based sauce. Both served with al dente spaghetti. Both dishes (we tried some of each others) were served to the table in small tin pans in massive portions (well after the starters anyway). The sea bass was pure white fish with whole toasted peppercorns adding some crunch. The tuna, perfect in every way. To finish we had coffees and limoncellos and together with beer and wine the whole meal came to less the 30 euros each. The effusive and welcoming ambience of the host Mr Renzo and the slightly set back from the sea front (almost as if in someone's front garden) setting, made for a superb experience that any lovers of italian cooking and great sea food will love. Hope to return soon.

A place to absolutely avoid in case: - you have a family with kids, because the owner doesn’t have sympathy for them -you want to eat good fresh fish, because you’ll get loads of pasta with low quality and little amount of fish - you don’t wanna be fooled, because Renzo uses the excuse of “ no menu” to make up the price and size he wants, careless of your request. 99% chance you’ll have to pay double the price for something you didn’t ask. - you want a quiet, clean and hygienic place… the eating area, the restroom have been extremely disappointing.

I have been at this place three times with my colleague. It is cosy family restaurant with very positive atmosphere) The menu consists mostly of seafood and they are only fresh! Mr. Renzo and his wife are very friendly and open people, Mr. Renzo always shows the sea delicateses which are being cooked today, so the list of dishes depends of the today's catch of seafood. The hosts of the restaurant are real professionals, all dishes were delicious and cooked on the best possible way. The average bill for two persons with drink (beer in our case) was for 60 Euro. I strongly recommend this place to be visited. For sure, next time I will be at this area, I will use the chance to come here again.

We spent four wonderful days at the taverna Cigui during our yoga retreat and were truly impressed. The food was exceptional – fresh, local, and prepared with love. The variety, especially the fish dishes, was amazing. The taverna is set in a beautiful olive grove, creating a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. We felt at home and enjoyed every moment. We’ll definitely be back – thank you for everything!

A bit off Trieste but in full nature. Small pension. Top staff and very oki view on the bay of Trieste. Car is needed for acess the taverna.

We simply love Paolo, his staff and place and also the region around muggia. We've been around the world to so many places but at Paolos we found a true jewel. We felt like home like we belong to this place. It's one of the most relaxing, warm-hearted, delicious and respectful places ever. You drink (wine, grappa) and eat (fruits, tomatoes) from Paolos garden. You can have dinner every evening with fresh, delicate seafood and wine as much as you can (around 50€-60€). Included breakfast is continental and coffee is good and you can have it in what time ever during the morning. It's not a hotel, it's home. The rooms are quiet simple but still very clean with good mattresses and they have AC & heater. If there's something you need, you don't like or you want, say it and you will get it. Maybe you have a good life now and staying at Paolos will make your life even better! Buy the wine and olive oil! High quality, great price. Baci to Paolo, beloved dog King and the whole team! We we'll be back soon!

It's very pleasant to stay overnight at Hotel Sole, the staff is more than kind and you can feel as been at home We joined the spot by bike and was very easy, they can also provide a recover for the bikes the room was quiet, clean and perfect for two I love to find places cool and friendly like this around

Unfriendly owner(guy), they do as they like without any concern on the hospitality for the customer. Then he has the audacity to argue with me and my other three guests. Toilets and bathroom are not at all in good shape. Really small facilities and broken shelves/bathroom doors.

It's a perfect, quiet place to an otherwise busy person who don't want a big hype & would like to avoid crowded places during his/her holiday. Friendy owners, good meals, clean rooms nice balcony. The place itself is 5 stars but the nearest beaches are not the best at the Adreatic, but with a 15-20 mins drive you can find nice places. Muggia itself has a real mediterranien atmosphere and it's a gem near the indusrialized Trieste. I recommend the place for people who favours the silence during thiers rest.

Be aware!!!! Had dinner here. we were on a budget trip and the menu seemed reasonable. The waiter got us a menu in English and we picked Fish of the day (think it was seabass or something) as it was for 2 persons. The waiter served the fish herself, we got a small piece of fillet and less than half a potato, no garnish or salad. And then the surprise came with the bill. It turned out that the fish of the day which was priced 6 EUR was per 100g and it was the only thing not translated in english. So the fish itself weighed around 800 grams, from which we got like a 100-150 gram of meat, So you pay for a 800g fish and get 100-150 grams of fish, but still pay for the whole fish. I payed the bill but felt i was ripped off, the fake smiles etc. Avoid at all cost. Had to get a pizza to get my stomach full later on

It's a nice and clean place, lovely hosts, excellent breakfast, amazing view to the sea, very close to the beach. Beds could be replaced but other than that it's just fine!

We had a plate of fried calamari, fried anchovies and seafood risotto (at least 2 people need to order). Food was fresh and flavorful. Service friendly.

The appetizer mix was fantastic, the grilled calamari was chewy… 🥲 that was surprising after seeing the reviews. The pasta with shrimps and truffles was average. The staff was friendly so all in all we could give four stars.

One of the best place in the area to enjoy a superb pasta with fresh fish/seafood. We shall return.

Everything we ate was very good. We had a reservation on the terrace overlooking Mandracchio di Muggia. The staff was very friendly, and the last coffees were on the house, which rounded off an excellent experience.

Really nice atmosphere at the sea, friendly waiter and and great food! We have choosen for primi piatti the Tagliatelle with truffle, risotto with gamberetti and for secondi piatti together the fritto misto. I can absolutely recommend those! We'd love to come back here if we visit this part of Italy again!

Fantastic service and delicious food. Wine selection was well picked and the servers were scouting for any opportunity to make the experience of dining in Il Covo delle Sirene more enjoyable. We had 3 courses, starter, pasta and main. Got a table next to the window with a view of the sea. We will visit this fine restaurant again for sure.

I had Turbot and my partner had Mixed Seafood Platter with sautéed veg and fries. The sautéed veg was shredded veg not whole vegetables and a tiny portion, the fries were cold and greasy, the seafood platter was all cooked in batter and the Turbot portion was tiny. We were still very hungry after the main so tried the desserts. The chocolate flambé was good but the Tiramisu was disappointing, with no discernible alcohol and a vast amount of custard which is not part of a classic Tiramisu. The waitress was excellent and the best part of this very disappointing meal.

I was there with my friends, having dinner. I was eating fish, and seafood spaghetti after. The food seemed to be good, I enjoyed it, we did not care about the prices. We went home and the whole night I had horrible stomach pain, I was suffering, and vomiting even though I really love seafood and I have never ever been allergic to it! It was a really bad experience, but I really liked the place next to the harbour... I don't know what was the problem with the food, we were trying different menus from there. I hope they will look after the ingredients, and be really careful about the food to be fresh and good quality so this don't happen with anyone else.

Wow! Very kind service. Food is superb especially for the price. We had the Gulf Mixed as an appetizer, great presentation, everything cooked perfectly, raw fish were also superb and super fresh. The second plate was a risotto with seafood, very understated but executed excellently salt levels were at 100%, I rarely eat food with such perfect amount of salt. Then the dessert, which was puff pastry crumble, very simple but effective pallate cleanser. House wines were fine, they did the job. Deserves a Bib Gourmand, easily!

The restaurant has a beautiful outdoor dining area. Fish was very fresh. It’s a very decent restaurant for a proper meal. The service was great too. The only flaw will be the price which isn’t so friendly comparing to the portion you got but it’s acceptable.

We were on a short road trip to the Croatian coast and we decided to make a stop in Muggia. Our wish was to eat something good and drink a nice wine. All that we found here. We really enjoyed. Just great. Allready when i called to make the reservation during driveing i could feel the kindness of the people from Al castello. The Restaurant is situated over Muggia with a Private parking and a very nice garden surounded with trees and flowers. Other guests were setting inside we asked for a place outside in the beautiful sun and it was no problem. We enjoyed the beautiful view, you have it even from outside. It is even nice when you have children, the have some space to play. Nice portions, fresh seafood, nice pasta and great Francciacorta which my baby❤️ decided for us 💞. Even the dolci were very nice and sweet. We will came back.

The food was really good. The staff were really welcoming even spoke to us in English. The prices are really cheap compared to other locations.

Food and service is marvellous, but toilet is a horror story - which can honestly be a dealbreaker. There is large parking loot in the backyard and a lovely terrace. It has a vintage style decor and it is a bit packed, but nothing dramatic.

Firstly the best pizza place in this area. Waiters are freindly and speak english. I accidentally left my bag there and the next day they still had it. Definitely recommended!

Calamari were cold and there was a red piece of plastic in them (like a small zip tie). Also I'd like to see that ordered still water is originally closed and not just refilled by the staff. The waiters were kind and we were served quickly. Ambient is also nice and calm but the music did not fit in.

By pure luck we visited the place on their last day before winter closure. The location is great just next to the sea. Food was good. Very nice and friendly staff and great music. We will be back next year.

Friendly and welcoming staff, the atmosphere is also wonderful. The food was decent – nothing extraordinary, but enjoyable overall. Unfortunately, one person in our group got sick after eating an oyster. Hopefully just a one-off, but worth mentioning. Otherwise, a nice experience overall.

My liguini pasta was swimming in oil and fat. And when i pay 6€ for normal bottled water i would liked it to be opened in front of me, this way i know when it's original or just refilled. Not too expensive yet not cheap. Hats of to the waiters who were very nice and polite. The ambient was pleasant and so was the wine. Shame about the food tho.

November 2023. One word: lovely. Our waiter was the owner, in the kitchen there was one old lady, we knew it gonna be interesting experience! Only few tables inside, maybe 4-5. Feels like and old Italian home / kitchen! We had one starter, fish plate. Recommended by waiter. There was really everything on, fresh, good. Tuna, shells, swordfish, salmon, sea bass, “bakalar” pate, shrimps and fresh bread. All very tasty and quite a lot for one portion. For two more than enough. Main dishes: spaghetti with vongoles, bit to plain, but fresh and good. Little bit of sauce was missing for my opinion. Ravioli with ricotta and shrimps- perfect. Taste, texture, … had a bottle of Prosecco and water. Everything round 60 €. Feeling of intimacy, familiarity, …. And madam in the kitchen made us feel like we had home cooked meal on higher lever! Cosy, authentic place!

A great little fish restaurant in the heart of Muggia right on the border with Slovenia. The owner is a giant, brilliant funny man while his wife (I believe?) was behind the scenes cooking marvellous dishes. The wine was also great (sparkling white) as well as the herbs spirit at the end. Highly recommend it!

It is a good occasion the taste and feel the real home italian cusine. This place is powered by an amazing old couple which prepare and serves you as you are their grandson. A very very good place where to eat!

I can't say anything about the food, but the owner is truly horrible. We were merely looking at the menu outside, when he walked out and said "I will not serve you" and looked down his nose at us. Personally, I'd rather have worse food in a friendly environment that support a business that treats people this way.

This place loiks amazing. Unfortunatelly we didnt have time to order food here but when we were passing this place it looked so very cosy and tge food that was iffered on the menu looked tasty and not expensieve. The atmosphere was very inviting. If im back to Muggia, this is the place where i want ti have my lunch or dinner.

had a couple tap beers there, one of them was gone bad with a lactic bacteria infection. as we mentioned it the owner told us "it has to be like this". no thank you, either you just lied to us, or even worse: you don't know better. food was decent, but had better dishes in trieste.

Such an amazing experience, from the moment we walked in the door. We have been to Italy three times and we have travelled all over the country and this was the best Carbonara I have EVER tasted! The service was incredible, the whiskey was fantastic the food was 10/10! The guys serving us made such an effort to entertain our baby boy, too! I will eat here, whenever I am back in Trieste for sure! I even got to try my first Japanese whiskey

Small but brilliant selection of beer on tap including an Italian Christmas beer that our host specifically recommended, which is right this second richly entertaining us. The food was absolutely excellent; I had a trofie dish that was cooked perfectly, smooth and flavoursome, and we shared a dessert of palachinke that was perfect in its texture. This pub-restaurant is both a tribute to the marriage of Balkan and Italian food culture and an excellent place to find genuinely good craft beer in Trieste. And the host is good fun!

Amazing food, sweet, drinks, coffee and service!

We were looking in Muggia restaurant after 8 PM. Hunger and the desire to spend the last summer day moved us. Marconi ended up in this restaurant with different entrances. The waiter immediately explained to us that on Thursday the whole city orders pizza from them with discounts and the wait for pizza is 40-45 minutes. Then we decided to order dishes from the menu. The octopus tentacles were quite edible, but they were in some sort of sour life with chickpeas. Mujiyski young octopus is a completely rubber muck in a soup with a disgusting taste. Grilled seabass couldn't be spoiled and it was delicious. The sour stale sauce on the linguine finally ruined all the possibilities to eat. What was our surprise when we paid the bill and went to the second entrance to the same restaurant and got a delicious pizza in 10 minutes to take away !! The waiter deceived us, fed us some filth, and we could easily cook pizza in this restaurant! Worst service and sour bad food. The pizza is good from the electric oven. Stuff speaks English. Toilet clean.

The food was ok but not outstanding. It's quite touristy and so is the service and ambiance (we went there as generally not much was open on a Monday night). The waiter twice forgot to bring us new cutlery, then we had to take it from the next table.

I would give this place a zero. The service was slow and not very welcoming. We waited for two pizzas and one pasta for over an hour. When it got there the pizza tasted like a takeout pizza that you would buy for cheap- not for 10€. The pasta had zero flavour. They call it a beach club and told us our chairs would be on the beach but there is no beach. There is a grassy lot or concrete by the water. A tiny corner of less than 5 sq meters has a rocky beach between two sides of the concrete. All in all, not bad but nothing special either.
