Italian restaurant
Pizza restaurant
Sirianni's Café is a charming local spot in Davis, WV, offering a variety of pizzas and Italian dishes in a cozy, old-school setting adorned with local history. The café is popular among both locals and visitors, often experiencing wait times during peak seasons due to its worth-the-wait menu. Situated near the Blackwater River and trailheads leading to Blackwater Falls State Park, it's conveniently located for those exploring the area.
The coziest spot with amazing pasta and pizza! Service was great and the food was incredible. We got the Johnnies Cheese Pizza and the Lemon Linguine (with side salad).
Danica H — Google review
A local classic, been around since 1988!! There can be a short wait so plan accordingly. As everyone else mentioned, yes it's cash only, with an ATM inside. We ordered the garlic chips, a pasta and a medium pizza for two. So much food! The portions are enormous. The pasta was good but felt under seasoned. Garlic chips were perfect and mega garlicky. The interior is cozy and comfortable. Our server must have been new because she didn't know the menu, and was a bit slow and forgetful, took quite a while to bring things out.

We came by on a Friday night around an hour before closing. Very lively! Beautiful restaurant, that has a really cozy welcoming energy to it. We didn’t try anything but the pizza, but it was incredible. Top 10 pizza’s we’ve ever tried.
Jay A — Google review
Small and quite packed. Not very much room. The Italian hoagie was delicious, and the pizza was good. Very greasy though. We waited a while for the food, and check. Nice menu selection, prices are reasonable.

(ONCE AGAIN WE RETURN to spectacular WEST VIRGINIA) Weekend (Father's Day) There are 2 reviews (the second will be more information on where to eat and where to stay) Sirianni's Café (recommended by someone in the group) 474 William Ave, Davis, WV 26260 Date: Saturday, June 14, 2025 Time: 3:00 PM (lunch) This review is based on my experience as a consumer and then as a chef. Ratings (0-10, 10 being the best): * **Hostess:** 5/10 (the welcome wasn't great, a bit disorganized) * **Waitress:** 5/10 (they forgot several things we ordered, and I think they were quite stressed) **Appetizer:** * Small house salad 4/10 (the salad wasn't crispy, the onions were too thick, and the dressing felt like cement) Pasta Aglio e Olio With a side of grilled chicken. 0/10 (they used angel hair, a very bad choice). I ordered spaghetti, the amount of raw garlic was inedible. They forgot to serve the chicken. When I mentioned it, they took a chicken ramekin and put it in the microwave. We saw all of this from the table we were at. * Staff: Mushroom and onion pizza. 5/10. (Too much cheese and no onion.) In the end, we had to order pizza elsewhere. My final thoughts: The place is beautiful, full of history and many experiences. They need to improve their service, and they need to train their staff not to use microwaves and update their recipes, especially the pasta aglio e olio, one of my favorites. Honestly, it was very bad. No one asked what happened to the pasta and pizza. We paid for everything without any complaints, and even left the corresponding tip. But based on this experience, I wouldn't return. If you want to drink beer or wine (remember to bring your ID because they ask for it before serving you)

Best place in the valley! The Parmesan wedge with homemade ranch and marinara is a must get for every visit. They have wonderful salads, pasta dishes and sandwiches, etc. The owner and staff make you feel welcome. This is must stop but bring cash or use their ATM!
Jill H — Google review
Excellent food and service, very small, very busy at lunch, clean. Veggie pizza was just great!
Mountains B — Google review
Truly bizarre experience here. Stopped in for lunch on a mini vacation to the falls. Staff was initially friendly, eclectic but dirty "dive" atmosphere. We split an order of the stuffed peppers and garlic chips. The peppers were fine. Clearly pre-made and microwaved to order (hot as hell on the outside and cool in the middle) but $2 charge for them to sprinkle a little bit of pre shredded cheese is ridiculous. Tasted fine, like decent frozen TV dinner quality. The garlic chips though were an experience. To be fair it does warn you on the menu "overwhelming garlic" and they aren't lying. I LOVE garlic and will gladly eat cloves on their own when I roast them at home, the issue is it was RAW! These "chips" are just pizza dough covered in raw garlic, then covered in cheese. When it came out it looked and smelled great! I bit down and it was THE WORST THING I'VE EVER EATEN AT A RESTAURANT. Mouthful of completely raw barely warm garlic. I thought this must be a mistake and when the server came by to check on us i asked "is the garlic supposed to be raw on this?" Her attitude (she seemed like a manager or even owner perhaps) immediately went from pleasant and friendly to extremely rude. "Well, it's raw before it goes in the oven". I just said "oh, well it's still pretty raw under all the cheese." She told me "well it says OVERWHELMING GARLIC FLAVOR on the menu" and walked away. We sat for about 15 more minutes and didn't dare eat another piece of raw garlic pizza before they brought us the check. Absolutely would not recommend this place unless, like us, you are STARVING and nothing else in town is open. But whatever you do avoid the "garlic chips" at all costs!

Bar & grill
Located in Davis, the Wicked Wilderness Pub is a popular restaurant offering a diverse menu that includes unique dishes such as Reuben Fried Egg Rolls, Peanut Soba Noodle Salad, Wicked Hot Dog, and Jambalaya. The bar serves craft beers and sodas, with live music performances on weekends. The pub also features local brews from nearby breweries alongside other beverage options.
Wicked Wilderness Pub in Davis is an absolute must-visit! I was immediately drawn in by the specials board featuring Crab Bombs and Peach Cobbler. The Crab Bombs were an unexpected delight – a perfect blend of crispy exterior and flavorful crab cake interior, wrapped up in a deep fried ball. Our first night, I couldn't resist the Boom Boom Shrimp Tacos. The sauce was a fantastic blend of flavors with a subtle smoky kick. The tacos were packed with shrimp and toppings, leaving me full, but not too full for cobbler. Home baked with fresh peaches, covered with rum sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream - wickedly delicious! On our second visit, the chicken pot pie was comfort food perfection. The rich, buttery sauce, rainbow of veggies and generous chunks of chicken made it a standout dish. The staff was friendly and made our dining experience even more enjoyable. They even let us know about a concert at one of the local horse stables on Saturday night! Both of my Long Island Iced Teas were tasty and perfectly poured. The pub's atmosphere is cozy and inviting. It is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy delicious food after an adventurous day in the mountains. Highly recommend!

Atmosphere and service were top notch! We ordered the crab bombs and they were amazing. Definitely recommend the NY strip and fish & chips as well.

Stopped in for a quick lunch. I am sorry to say this was the worst lunch experience ever, especially with the service. Ordered a hot coffee and an ice tea with lemon. One would think a spoon and napkins be automatically included when ordering such items? I waited for what seemed forever for the server to bring them to the table. I also ordered a grill cheese sandwich & soup combo. Also an additional soup. Soup was lobster bisque. Our server returned with the grilled cheese and a lobster bisque. She asked if we would like anything else? I replied “Yes, the other lobster bisque, another cup of coffee, a glass of ice water and a knife/utensils to cut this sandwich in half. The first soup was hardly warm, the sandwich was getting cold, i finally got up and walked back and got a knife to cut the sandwich in half. The additional soup arrived with the knife and a teaspoon in the soup. This soup was hardly warm. My coffee and ice water showed up a bit later and I was asked, is there anything is else I can get you? My answer. “Yes, my check!” I have had enough. I truly had a hard time leaving a minimum tip!

Dinner! Had an amazing dinner at Wicked Wilderness Restaurant to celebrate my birthday, and it completely exceeded expectations. We ordered the fish and chips and the pot pie everything was fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. You can tell they use quality ingredients. The staff was super friendly and served us with genuine smiles, which made the experience even better. The music inside was at the perfect volume we could hear each other comfortably at our table without overhearing others around us. Great vibe, excellent service, and absolutely delicious food. 10/10 would recommend and can’t wait to come back next time we’re in town!

I wish I had taken pictures of all the delicious food we had but honestly their picture of their wings is what brought us in to begin with. They did NOT disappoint! We also had their fried shrimp with homemade cocktail sauce, pepperoni rolls, and a side order of fries. Everything was delicious, and cooked to perfection! Ask for Emerson , she was attentive, friendly and brings joy to an already joyous day!
Josie B — Google review
The service was great and our waitress was super friendly. Not only that, but the food was just as good. It was plenty empty when we had visited for lunch so our food came relatively quick. The trout dip was delicious and the hamburgers as well. Overall, a good choice to eat when visiting the area.
Alex M — Google review
We loved the pickle chips and the crab bite appetizers. All of our meals were great. Our server was super helpful with questions and so kind. I would highly recommend a visit.
Tammie R — Google review
Trout dip is a destination food!!!! The pita is buttery and lightly crisp and soft! We should have eaten more. The chicken pot pie was not a pie, but pot pie filling with a humongous biscuit on top. The filling / stew was kinda sweet. The biscuit was tasty but too big. Hubby got the fried fish ( kinda Long John Siver style). It was good and he liked the fries, but there is rarely a potato he doesn't like! Oh, but Milo's managed it! See that review.

Deli
Restaurant
Nestled in the historic town of Davis, WV, Big Belly Deli has been serving up quick, fun, and affordable food since 2013. This downtown lunch spot offers a variety of delicious sandwiches made with fresh ingredients and unique combinations, including vegetarian options. Visitors praise the friendly atmosphere and helpful staff who are happy to chat and answer questions. The house-made veggie burger is particularly popular for its tasty blend of flavors and generous portion size.
Updated from today, 10/7/24. Stopped in for lunch and on the recommendation of the chef, had a Lebanon Bologna Reuben. Best sandwich I've had in a long while. Great little place to grab lunch. The people working here are very friendly and my sandwich was just what I needed. I will definitely stop in again the next time I'm in town.
Dana R — Google review
The sandwiches sure are tiny for a place called "Big Belly Deli". Inside it's very "rustic". I personally find it to be cozy since it reminds me of a rural town where I'm from but it's clear the place hasn't been remodeled in like 100 years. The dude making the sandwiches was a jerk. I think he's auditioning to be a comedian or something but needs to work on his delivery because people seem to be getting offended... He also needs to seriously consider wearing gloves because he seems to be really sloppy with the cooking. Honestly that wouldn't bother me if the place lived up to it's name. The sandwiches are honestly pretty tasty but they are pretty small and expensive so it feels like a rip off. We paid like $40 for two small sandwiches and a small pizza roll.... There isn't much food in town. There is food down the street at the Super Saver and the brewery sometimes has a popup kitchen. Super Saver has hand breaded chicken strips for $7 a pound of you don't want to overpay for tiny sandwiches here.

Myself and 4 others were in town for a military event. All 4 were military men, and were quiet and respectful. We went in to Big Belly Deli after a long hike. Walking in, there was a man behind the deli area making the food and a young girl that I now know took the orders. We took the paper menus and started to look over the food. I was excited there were gluten free options. The man was yell talking to the girl about “big groups are stupid and can’t figure out how to order”. My friend walked up and asked the man politely, Is this where I order?” To which the man yelled, “NO YOU ORDER WHERE IT SAYS TO!” So my friend simply says, “okay” and walked to the girl to order. My husband murmured, “well isn’t this a welcome environment.” To which the man yelled again, “WHAT DID YOU SAY!?” I told the guys we needed to eat somewhere else so we folded back up the menus and left. I have NEVER experienced rudeness like that in my life and will NEVER be back.
Jessca B — Google review
I don't know who is bribing the people that are giving this place 5 stars but its barely worthy of 1. The man that makes the sandwiches behind the counter openly makes rude and condescending remarks to customers in an attempt to be "sarcastically funny" but he is anything but funny. He openly insulted my boyfriend when my boyfriend politely asked him about WiFi and brated the poor, under aged 14 year old boy who was operating the register. Not to mention, the kitchen grill is grimed with dirt. The same man behind the counter prepared all the food with his bare hands. No gloves whatsoever, he just put his whole hand in the pickle jar. Who runs this place? And why does that man keep working here? The food was not impressive either. It looked like someone sat on the pepperoni roll and it tasted stale. $7 for this is outrageous. These sandwiches are $12 each and the sandwiches are so small that they are barely the size of a Whopper Jr at Burger King. And given the rude staff and terrible prices, I would have rather gone there or anywhere else rather than here. The other patrons that witnessed this agreed with me as well. Save yourself time and money and go elsewhere.
G G — Google review
First time in almost 40 years I've ever been compelled to go online and write a review. Walked out of this place without spending a dime because the guy behind the counter doesn't know how to speak to people without being rude, condescending, and indignant, and after scrolling thru the rest of the reviews, I'm not surprised to see I wasn't the only one that had this experience. The positive reviews must come from this guy's days off.. How this man thinks he can talk to people this way, especially to another grown man, is beyond me. First time here, and it will absolutely be my last. You'd be better off spending your hard earned money literally anywhere else.
Todd H — Google review
Food’s decent and you can get a beer. That goes a long way in my book. Just don’t go in expecting anything beyond someone taking your order, making your food, and then handing it to you. That’s the least anyone could ask for and normally it would be fine. The problem is when things get rude, and that’s where I draw the line. Will not be going back.
Eric S — Google review
Simple deli sandwiches. Owner has a vast knowledge of the area. He knew we were going hiking and carefully wrapped our hoagies and separated the condiments to ensure good quality for when we ate our hoagies miles later.
Laura C — Google review
The portion size vs price is very disappointing. Cleanines is questionable. Ordered a turkey sandwich and although the taste was good, the portion size would not even be enough for my 7 yr old grandson. Wife got the reuben and said it wasn't very tasty. Photo of sandwich is 1/2 sandwich and the photo of fan and window shade brings the cleanliness of the rest of the place into question. Would not recommend.

I visited Trailhead Coffee Shop specifically to see what all the hype was about regarding the two impolite baristas mentioned in reviews. However, I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted by a delightful young woman who engaged in a conversation about hiking trails. She not only made my coffee but also wished me well on my travels. While the drinks were satisfactory, I must commend one of the baristas for her exceptional service, earning an additional star for the overall experience.
Cute little coffee shop. Plenty of options if you are not a coffee drinker. They offer smoothies and a variety of teas as well. Even though it was freezing outside, I did get a caramel frappe. It was very delicious! There’s not really seating inside, but it is located along a strip with other local stores so that is cool. The barista was knowledgeable and offered fun things for us to do! Very sweet people
Kayla L — Google review
Very small coffee shop. Definitely a grab and go location due to no setting inside. Coffee was good, a lot of options and good for non-coffee lovers. Good options were limited.
Danica H — Google review
I've been passing by this place for a couple of months, telling myself each time that I need to stop in. When I finally found the time to stop, I found it was worth the wait! The lady running the shop was friendly and definitely knowledgeable about her coffee. I got a wild blackberry latte, which I highly recommend. The store itself was well maintained and it had a nice neighborly feel about the place. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in town.
Dale K — Google review
Fantastic coffee. Ordered two vanilla iced coffees, and they were some of the best coffee we have had in a while. Coffee ice cubes were a great touch and didn't water down our drinks!!! Great find!
Jennifer B — Google review
When we entered we were greeted by two women just staring at us. No hello, good afternoon. It was almost as if they were annoyed we even came in. I didn’t buy anything due to the vibes of the employees. My friend bought a chai tea latte and threw it away. The building itself was cute and decorated nicely.

The coffee shop is quaint and cozy, the smalltown vibe you love. Service was friendly and fast. They have a great selection between coffees and teas and choice of pastries. Highly recommend ☯️💚

Perfect experience, staff are super kind and the coffee, muffins and air was perfect. I definitely recommend this coffee shop.
Alan P — Google review
Stopped here with a couple friends for a morning coffee. Didn’t expect much in a small town, however when we walked in, the older lady was chatting with the couple before us in line. As time passes, a few more people join the line and I looked down and realized it’s been like 10 mins since they started talking. Older lady had no sense of urgency and kept looking at the line like “whatever I don’t care let me finish talking.” She didn’t even stop to greet anyone as they walked in. When it was my turn to order, she was extremely rude and unhelpful. When I ordered my drink, she asked if I wanted whole milk, I said no and asked her what else she offered because their menu board was so organized and overwhelming to look at along with having me having poor vision, she rudely pointed to her menu board and said, “what we have is here,” even though she could’ve just gave me options. It’s crazy because one of my friends that could see noticed they had a sign on their menu board to tip them. I really wanted to support locally and tip them (and I actually did) but I’m started to think I shouldn’t have due to the lack of service provided. I didn’t have a problem with the quality or taste of the drink. It was actually quite good, however, I don’t think that makes up for the poor treatment we received. Would I go back even though the drink was good? ABSOLUTELY NOT. I’d rather support the other surrounding businesses that were actually nice and welcoming. I recommend you go somewhere else and avoid this lady at all cost.

Located in downtown Davis, WV along the main street, The Ice Cream Shop is a charming country-style parlor that offers a delightful selection of soft serve treats. The rustic decor and antique-feel seating area create a cozy atmosphere for enjoying their delicious homemade ice cream at an affordable price. With a cute swirl logo to explain the sizes of their servings, this spot has become a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
Bring cash!! So many businesses in this town are cash or check so bring cash and you'll avoid the ATM fees. Now, onto the important....I got the BLUEBERRY MUFFIN flavor and my daughter got the Coal Miner, but I'm writing mine in bold because it's that good 🥳 Hers was great too honestly, but I really dig unique flavor combos and this was such a treat. The decadent, smooth blueberry ice cream was ultra creamy and had thick ribbons of blueberry jam and graham cracker. This is 100% in my top 3 for all time best ice cream. It is sort of a non descriptive storefront (I don't remember seeing the name out front even🤔) and not much inside for decoration but the ice cream makes up for aesthetics. And there are a few tables outside on the covered porch for when the kiddos sugar kicks in 😁
Renee R — Google review
Stopped here to try an ice cream, and it was very good. The ice cream had the perfect texture and the right amount of sweetness. They charge an extra 1$ if you choose to pay with a card. The service was friendly, and the sitting area outside was clean and comfortable. I'm definitely gonna stop here next time to try some more flavors.
Aon — Google review
Hard to go wrong here. Congress of delicious ice cream piled way too high. Thought it would topple over, but no worries, my son finished it. I had a more modest scoop in a cup. A really nice coffee flavored ice cream. Milkshakes looked terrific. They had a consistent line all day long.

Seriously, this has to be some of the best ice cream in the area. We came from Baltimore and have tried all the creameries there, and we try local ice cream everywhere we travel. This place is legit!! Lemon poppyseed cookie was my favorite.. lavender honey was my girlfriend's favorite

Such a great variety of flavors. Stopped in after a bike ride with the family. Their Cotton candy with sprinkles was so creamy and delicious along with an indulgent chocolate variety—Coal Miner that hit the spot. Love this place!

The Billy Motel & Bar / ISH Kitchen is a retro-style boutique motel with 10 chic rooms and a cocktail lounge. It's known for its welcoming atmosphere, complimentary amenities such as parking, Wi-Fi, and a welcome drink. Guests appreciate the clean and comfortable rooms with thoughtful touches like Chromecast and French press coffee in the mornings. The bar offers great cocktails and a relaxed vibe, perfect for unwinding after outdoor activities in Davis.
Such a great place to stay in Davis/Thomas! Funky design, great service, excellent location and both awesome cocktails and coffee! The food at Ish is really excellent and the best in the area. The French press hotel coffee is the best I’ve had in a hotel since…forever. Truly a gem! And the cocktails and bar vibe are next level! Stay here and have an excellent time!!!

Small motel consisting of 10 units. Check in/out is handled at the office / bar by the bartender. There is also food available with an international menu. Unfortunately, the town was doing maintenance on the water pipes in town and the kitchen was closed on the day of my visit because of it. The room I stayed in was clean with a eclectic flair. I believe the bed had a memory foam mattress which I'm not personally a big fan of but fine for a night or two. I noticed the hotel is for sale and the bartender told me she thought a deal was pending. If it changes hands hopefully the new owner(s) will keep it mostly as is with it's slightly quirky feel that lends to it's charm. If you're in Davis and looking for lodging it's worth a look.
Felix W — Google review
We stopped in at the bar for an afternoon cocktail on Saturday. The space is great, really cool vibe and background music. The cocktails, however, were barely palatable. We didn't ask for anything fancy, an Old Fashioned and a Manhattan, two standards on their drink menu. Could barely taste the spirit in either one. It's a shame because I'd definitely hang there and take others. The bartender was not personable. No take on the rooms or food. Will give another shot next year.

Incredible motel with all the amenities you would need, we absolutely love it here. The staff here is so hospitable and welcoming. The rooms are modern, clean, and comfortable, chromecast on the TV for all your entertainment needs, and it is literally right up the road from Blackwater Falls State Park. This motel truly is perfectly located for all the adventure you want between Thomas, Davis, and the State Park. During the weekends at night, the Billy comes alive with a trendy bar, and even a kitchen that serves up delicious looking entrees. If you stay at the Billy, the owners are kind enough to provide two “drink tokens” that can be exchanged for a free drink at the bar. Unfortunately we were so tied up in enjoying all that the area has to offer that we didn’t get our free drink. I would recommend the Billy Motel over any place in the area to stay, for comfort and the affordability.
Jay A — Google review
We were in West Virginia for a sibling reunion. Originally we had reservations at the Smokehouse at Blackwater Falls, and then decided to venture out to somewhere local. Our reservation was for eight people at 6:00, and I was the first to arrive. They seated us in a cozy little corner next to an incredibly loud (and drunk) group of women. At first, we couldn't even hear as we settled into the un-bused table. Our drink order was taken, and then the server brought out four on a tray. Then we waited for about another ten minutes and the other four arrived. They were not good and two of them were completely wrong with no alcohol in the cocktails. With a group this large, we decided to order the cheese board. Don't. It had three triangles of a sharp cheese, exactly ten dried cranberries, ten grapes, and a tablespoon of the goat cheese with seven bread cubes the size of croutons. There was not even enough to share. The server took our orders and came back about five minutes later to inform us that three selections were not available that night. We made other choices, and waited. One meal arrived from a different server out of the eight and we thought that perhaps the others would be right behind. Nope. So one of our crew ate alone. Another two meals arrived from two other servers about five to six minutes later and those two ate. After another nearly eleven minutes, the five remaining meals arrived from other servers. We had not seen our server since the dinner orders were taken. Our drinks were empty, we needed a napkin when a drink spilled and the bartender came over, and then had to go find our server to get our check after sitting for almost 25 minutes. When she returned, she sang out "I'm backkkk!" and gave us her best jazz hands. She ever actually even gave us our check - just had us each sign after dividing the nearly $300 bill into four. I would not recommend eating at this place. It was super cute and retro hipster, but that's where the fun stopped.

Absolutely loved our stay here. The decor is lovely, the bartender is very personable, the food and drinks are delicious. The french press coffee in the morning is excellent. Can’t wait to come back next time we’re in Davis.

I was traveling through the area on my motorcycle and my original idea was to camp. Well after 400 miles of rain and 38 degrees a local campground owner recommended the billy. What a modern twist on a bygone era of motel stops. As I travel the country I am often jealous of missing out on an era of mom & pop stops I thought we're only part of history. The billy had a cozy atmosphere and a friendly staff. The bar had an interesting menu and my meal was delicious. I wish there were more places like the Billy Motel.

I heard this place is great for food. I can now confirm-it is GREAT for food. Not just for the area, but for anywhere. As a world traveler and foodie, I was so impressed to see a menu featuring worldly offerings like beef bulgogi, Vietnamese noodle salad, saag paneer alongside some elevated basics like a Nashville got chicken sandwich. The food I ordered was great and staff was welcoming. I highly recommend you visit.

Alpine Lodge Sawmill Restaurant is a budget hotel with simple rooms and a relaxed pine-paneled restaurant. What sets this place apart is its mission to employ and support neuro-diverse young adults, making it truly special. The menu features classic dishes like roast beef, country fried steak, broiled trout, and a salad bar. In spring, the chef even prepares 100% West Virginia ramps. Despite some dated aspects of the hotel, guests appreciate the clean rooms and fantastic location.
Me and several friends were in town for a half marathon and stayed at the Alpine Lodge. The hotel was clean and comfortable and great for a group. The service was also great. I left an item at the hotel and the manager was helpful and mailed me the item free of charge.

The lodge is a price point some enjoy. Wasn’t really for us. We found trash in our room under the beds: empty water bottles, some fall food scraps. Beds are not too great, but they get the job done. Location is nice though. Walking distance to Davis.

We went for the Pickins in Parsons music fest. Well I’ll start by he price gouged for this week of the concert. Our room was 3 times the reg amount.😡. Manager was never available only at check in we got lucky the door was unlocked. We did have to Wait in parking lot until he took an employee home lol. He said hotel was full when we made reservations and we got the last room😂 parking lot was almost empty. The room was dirty Especially the shower floor bring a pair of sandals to wear in the shower. The beds didn’t have blankets but there was two in the closet. They were very old and cheap with holes in them. No WiFi or cell service It did have a TV that worked. I would not stay here again if he would have refunded our money and we could have moved to a different hotel we would have. Thankfully it was only for one night.

I think this place has potential to be better. My girlfriend and I stayed here and I wanted to like it more. I'm not snobby and don't care about the size of a room or how high tech a place is. I just need a quiet spot with a roof over my head that's clean and comfortable. The good: Check in was easy. The room was clean especially for being a pet friendly room. We didn't have any pet smells like you get in other pet friendly hotels. I saw reviews from other customers about mold and dirty linens and that just wasn't our experience. The place was quiet and it was so easily walkable to some great coffee and food. THE WATER PRESSURE....wow. Amazing. The NOT good: Again...I don't think this place needs to be "updated" per se. The water was hot. The room was clean...but the mattress was just not comfortable. We're a couple in our early 30s and in great shape and we both woke up feeling sore from the mattress. I think even a basic mattress topper could have made it better. It wasn't too soft or too hard, I could just feel every spring in it. This place advertises budget motel and if I were paying $50 a night I wouldn't say a word about it but $100+ a night after taxes and fees...gotta have a half decent mattress. I would happily give another star on this review if the bed was more comfortable. I'm not expecting Hilton quality comfort. Just...a little better. All in all. Not a bad hotel.
Dan S — Google review
This place is a joke.... I cant believe i even paid for this lol! The cabins they show on the pics? Have nothing to do with this place. Not sure why they are even showed. This is a dingy, run down motel, with 24 inch TVs, no coffee, a 1970s fridge, and a noisy ac thst will keep you up. And its grimy....

This place was wonderful. I was supposed to stay there for 2 weeks for work, but the job got cut short. The town is a super small but has plenty of amenities.
Bill B — Google review
We stayed for two nights. The building and room are old and could definitely use some upgrades. However, the room is spacious, clean, and quiet. We loved the strong water pressure in the shower. Since we spent most of our time outdoors exploring the park and nearby trails, we just needed a place to sleep, and this location met our needs. It’s also conveniently close to everything. If you're looking for something fancier, this isn't the place for you.

Nestled in the heart of Davis, Muttley's Downtown has been a beloved dining destination for over two decades. This charming steakhouse is run by a delightful couple who also manage the nearby Big Belly Deli during the day. Known for its inviting atmosphere and attentive service, Muttley's offers an array of delicious meals, including their popular $1 per ounce steak night—just be sure to make a reservation!
Was not disappointed in stopping in for dinner here, especially on a Wednesday which happened to be burger night. We both had well done burgers with bacon, mushrooms, and roasted red peppers. Delicious and juicy, not to mention hot off the grill. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. Loved that old time restaurant vibe. It was like stepping back in time. Yes, as others have mentioned the bathrooms are small, but hey!, that's not a place where one eats their meals. LOL Quiet dining to relax in after hiking and sightseeing as noise level is moderate.

Great steakhouse! Friendly service. Theme on the wall art is old time western movies -William S. Hart and others. Very interesting! And they have potato ramp soup! The New York strip was perfect!

Historic building so it was a bit warm. Dont worry about large portions because that is not the case here. The salad that comes with the entrees is tiny, good stuff but tiny. I had the housemade balsamic and my hubby the housemade parmesan dressing, both very good. Entrees say they come with choice of vegetables my choice was french fries or brussel sprouts with kale. I cannot do fries so I got the upcharged portabella mushrooms which were ok, a bit salty. Never heard fries considered a veggie before. The peppercorn filet was tender well cooked pepper is strong, would have liked more of the bleu cheese sauce. Hubby was happy with his fettuccine alfredo.

Food wasn't prepared as you would expect when paying for a meal which is in a price range from $16-$30 per plate. Steak was cooked in a pan, and undercooked-not as ordered. For the price of the steak, it should be grilled. Service was poor, prices for meals were way too high for what was being offered. I ordered the pasta and it was a heated up pasta dish and sauce that was pre-packaged. Very disappointing and expensive.
R M — Google review
Horrible customer service from our waitress it took her over an hour to refill water and they were not busy. She was also very gossipy about us it was so uncomfortable hearing her talk about us to another waitress.. We we're there for about 3 hours it took forever for our food to come then when it did it was overcooked and small portioned and very expensive no matter what you get.. My advice don't go here and take your money to Hellbenders where you will always get your worth.

The other night I was part of a group of 5 that dined at Muttley’s Steakhouse. It was Leaf Peeper’s Festival weekend so believe it or not Davis was very busy. We made 7pm reservations a day in advance and the table was ready when we arrived. We were seated promptly and the hostess took our drink order. After a brief wait the server took our orders. A water carafe was placed on the table and refilled as needed. Our salads arrived promptly and were delivered to us with minimal confusion. They were quite small but good. We all had steaks. All were cooked as requested and no one was disappointed with their food with the exception that there was a consensus that the strip stakes were cut too thin. The server accommodated our request for separate checks and only complained a little. The atmosphere is quaint as they made the best of a very old building. Overall I was happy with my experience and I would dine there again.
Daniel L — Google review
Making reservations here was one of the best ideas we had this trip. The staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere of this cozy restaurant was inviting, down to earth, but still fine dining. The menu was pricey, but not more than expected for this kind of dining. I've read reviews that day the portions were small, and although they were small, we had so many courses to the meal, they were perfectly portioned to where we were satisfied with each course. The soup and salad were both delicious; the steak was cooked perfect; the potatoes were wonderful; and the mouse cake for dessert was to die for! We will definitely be going back the next time we are in Davis. I would highly recommend.
Korrie M — Google review
Normally I wouldn't write a review. However, this is probably one of the worst dinning experiences I have ever had. Let's start with the over priced food that I might also add wasn't up to par. The waitress was rude. My friend asked a question about an item on the menu and she laughed directly in her face as if to say "what a dumb question." Then while we're eating, we hear laughter and gossip coming from two of your employees and the sudden glances at us were enough to make us feel mocked or as if we were sitting there being talked about. It was uncomfortable and the three of us wanted to leave but we didn't. We paid for our meals and tipped her although I can say she didn't deserve it, and left quietly. Mind you, you are one of the few restaurants in this small town and it's smack dab in the middle of lots of sight seeing and other local attractions. We travel that way quite often but I can say I will never stop there again and I will not recommend you to any of our friends or family. My friend reached out to you in hopes that maybe you'd respond. Not for compensation for the horrible experience but in hopes that maybe you'd use it as constructive criticism considering you are a BUSINESS, but he received no response. As a restaurant that supposedly offers a nice dinning experience and good food, I'm throughly disappointed.

Nestled in a cozy corner, Hellbender Burritos is the ultimate destination for burrito lovers seeking something unique and satisfying. This charming eatery boasts an inviting atmosphere with rustic wood accents and a laid-back vibe, making it the perfect spot to unwind while enjoying a meal. With an impressive menu featuring at least ten distinct West Virginia-inspired burritos, including fan favorites like the Hellbender and Treehugger, there's no shortage of options to satisfy any craving.
This is a must stop place if in town. Burritos are great in size and flavor! I had the Admiral burrito and it was everything I expected after being directed here by many locals. Friday night was busy and after placing my order it would be a 30 minute wait, but I just walked around and checked out the area and came back. Unless you are dining in, might save you time to call and order ahead of time on the weekends, but don't miss out on this place!
Aaron J — Google review
We were a family of four staying at the Blackwater Lodge, who stopped at this place as it had good ratings both in Yelp and Google. Being vegetarians, we had some options with burritos and tacos. The portion size can be large, so be cautious when you order. After we sat down to eat, we heard the lady behind the counter explain to another customer that there are smaller portions available if requested. Wish we had known this earlier. The seating can get cramped so you may want to get a place that is comfortable. When we arrived around 1:00 pm for lunch the front section and upstairs were all completely full. The veggie burritos and tacos were delicious and seemed like a good option in a small place like Davis. Recommended

This is a must visit place if you like fresh scratch made food in good quantities. The burritos are huge and better bring an appetite. Cool fun decor and atmosphere. Great selection of microbrews and other unique non-alcoholic drink selections.

This was my first stop after hiking Dolly Sods and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. This place wasn't very big but packed lots of character. I got a chicken, bacon, and ranch burrito that definitely hit the spot after a long hike. The burritos are MASSIVE and quality ingredients. This place is a must stop in Davis, WV.

Great place to stop for lunch. Shredded beef tacos were filling, didn't skimp on the ingredients and had a great flavor. The seating is limited, but it appears a lot of customers order their food to go, at least when I was there (~noon on a Friday). If you're passing through town, definitely stop, you won't be disappointed.

You better come hungry to this small quaint local burrito place in Davis,WV. Seating is limited, it's on a first come first serve basis. You can place an order "to go" and if in-house seating comes available you can snag it and enjoy your meal there. You can save half of your burrito for the next day or if you're hungry enough, you can eat the whole thing and not be hungry for the rest of the day! The atmosphere is cozy and the staff is very inviting and welcoming. They have local beers on tap and some others too. You can get some merch if you're just in town visiting. Definitely a great place to check out.

If you want delicious, clean burritos/tacos/etc. then look no further. Match the high quality food with over and above staff and you have a recipe for success! The restaurant has a very nice layout as well. Checked them out on a Sunday afternoon and was serviced quickly!
Jay O — Google review
Great place with nice selection of 'make your own' and house specials. Beer avaliable, too! Not many tables -only 5- so it gets crowded but if you are patient you will find a seat. Fun decor, very cool staff, reasonable prices. Quality ingredients from how everything tasted, wish I had room in my belly to try more things. One star off because the one burrito we got was dripping in soy sauce, way too salty. I know that soy sauce was used as the marinade but it was overkill. Need to dial that back. Otherwise I definitely recommend this spot and do hope to visit again!

The Smokehouse at Blackwater Falls offers a mix of experiences. The food is decently priced with good portions, but some dishes may not live up to expectations. The bruschetta lacked the promised fresh mozzarella and had a different texture than expected, while the pulled pork sandwich was tasty but lacked a smoky flavor. However, the staff are attentive and gracious, and the view in late October is stunning with changing leaves.
The lodge and park is a wonderful, beautiful and unique vibe. We had a large party and the service was excellent, the food was great, very thoughtfully prepared not just thrown at you by a frustrated staff like most places. I wanted to thank the chef. the barbeque meals are delicious with large portions, the maple salmon on spinach salad was perfectly prepared and my daughter said the breakfast buffet was amazing. the lodge is clean, comfortable, welcoming and the view is gorgeous. can't wait to go back.

This restaurant is the best in the area! The beef brisket was so tender and juicy. They also had a lot menu choices for kids. The mozzarella sticks were amazingly cheesy and gave me a long cheese pull. The service was excellent as well! Not to mention there’s a breathtaking view of the mountain right behind the restaurant/lodge. Great place to eat if you’re in the area!

Our family was in town for a family reunion. The Smokehouse was able to accommodate our party of 28 ranging in age from 6 to 78. Food was delicious and there was a variety to choose from. The service was excellent. Behind the restaurant is a beautiful scenic overlook. It was an amazing way to end our dinner getting incredible family pictures!

I had a nice breakfast buffet, bacon, sausage, berries and yogurt, eggs and coffee. There was lots more to choose from, but I can't go too crazy! All was good but the coffee, it had lots of grounds in it ☹️but everyone else's in my party was fine, just got a bad cup I guess. This place is in an idyllic location with a beautiful view and a large backyard viewing area, the view alone is worth the trip.

Very nice service. Food was good view was pretty. We were there for dinner steak was little pricey so we ordered ribs and pot roast with salads. Food was good. Atmosphere was pretty as there are windows all around the dining area. You have view of the sun setting and outside are nice benches and swings to sit in after you’re done. Which we did and watched a beautiful sunset.

The place may not be known well...service was great, my pulled pork sandwich was BIG. My friend had macaroni and cheese...best they ever had. Everything was great. John did a great job.

Unimpressed. Don't look at the menu online, it's about half that. We got there at 745 and the girl acted like she didn't even want to seat us. (Close at 9) She said they wouldn't even have anything until 8. I said that's fine since we tried to make a reservation for 8 but nobody would answer the phone.. and that's only 15 minutes. Wouldn't take our name or anything so we just stood in front of the hostess stand. Salad bar was gross and incredibly limited. Our server was good and the steakhouse Mac n cheese was good. But our cheese sticks were burnt and I think my dad got sick from the French onion soup. (That's the only thing he ate different from us) Mom liked her soft pretzel.. would not recommend. 3 stars because of our server, Mac n cheese and mom's pretzel.

Nice restaurant located at Canaan Valley Resort. The breakfast buffet is quite nice and the food is hot and good. You can choose either the cold or both hot and cold depending on appetite. All in all the service and food is good especially considering there are not a lot of options when in the valley. 20231014 Dinner with friends at the Hickory. Old style restaurant with good huge glass window view of the valley. The food was ok but nothing spectacular; the breakfast buffet was a little bit over-prices ($16.95) given its variety and quality. Service for dinner was very slow (more than 45 minutes’ wait) - despite not many people at that time.
Mathhew M — Google review
We had the buffet. It was surprisingly great! (We’ve had many buffets and honestly typically regret having to go). Chef Jonathan definitely works hard for a great spread. The prime rib was perfect, ribs juicy and the unlimited crab was the cherry on top. What a great way to end a day on the slopes!

Old time lodge/restaurant vibe with metal lights and bare wood chairs. Too bad the drinks anthe food was dreadful. I ordered an old fashioned, a signature drink on the menu. The waitress didn’t know the type of bourbon and the short glass was half full and syrupy. Yuck. The crab stuffed raviolis were lumpy, with heavy inedible pasta dough, a creamy crab interior and the whole thing was floating in oil. Didn’t like the merlot. A bad experience. Don’t go.

Our late arrival meal included steak (ordered med-rare arrived dry, overcooked, welldone at least), salmon (appeared reheated), and ravioli (excessively salty). The house salad was good through. Service attentiveness seemed limited and waitress tired and uninterested, had to argue to get a table for everyone althought place was empty. While prices were reasonable, food quality was underwhelming. Given nearby alternatives, lots of them, exploring other options is highly recommended

Ill definitely be going back.

For breakfast, the restaurant has a plentiful, fresh hot food. I was able to call from the room and place a To Go order. It was ready in less than 10 minutes, and we walked over to pick it up. The Mountaineer breakfast lasted me 3 breakfasts in my room (I had brought a plastic container from home for leftovers for the mini-fridge). The breakfast has sausage gray and biscuits, two sausages (could have gotten bacon), two scrambled eggs, potatoes, and three small pancakes. My husband enjoyed the Valley Breakfast which came with two eggs, sausage or bacon, potatoes, and toast or biscuit. I enjoy eating in my suite at the big table or sitting outside on the balcony but calling for a To Go order is hit or miss. Sometimes, even if you call three times, no one answers. You could always go in person and wait for your order. For lunch, I went and decided to stay and dine. I got the chicken salad on a croissant. It was not the flakey croissant I was expecting, more of a round croissant looking bun. The chicken salad was plentiful and fine and not to much mayonnaise but nothing stood out either. It came with a slice of lettuce and tomato. The fries were thick steak cut fries that curled, seasoned, and double fried so they were crispy on the outside. I also got the coleslaw but it tasted like the mass produced, bulk coleslaw and was so nasty tasting that I could not eat it. I had Loretta who was nice and brought me a refill of the real ice tea. About a year ago, we had ordered To Go for the dinners and thought the food was plentiful and good. The dining room view is really nice on the 2nd floor of the pool, golf course and mountains and trees with long windows. The picture I took is actually from outside at ground level since I did not have my camera with me when I dined, but you will get an idea of the view.

Amelia's Restaurant at Windwood Resort is a charming, old-fashioned eatery that has been serving up delicious, homestyle American meals since 1980. Guests rave about the hearty and affordable dishes, such as biscuits and gravy with buttermilk pancakes and fresh-cut fries. The restaurant's picturesque setting adds to the overall experience, making it a great spot for a leisurely meal.
Ate there for lunch on June 3,2016 while visiting my friend Trent. The fish sandwich was really good and the onion rings with their dipping sauce tasted great. The food was reasonably priced,

The food was phenomenal. I got the biscuits and gravy with a buttermilk pancake. Loved the price (under $10 for both) and our server was very sweet. 4 stars because there was only one server and one cook in the kitchen for a semi-full restaurant. My friend Steve and I probably waited around 30 - 40 minutes just to get our food. We were in no rush, but a little extra staffing would get this place over the hump.

Bread rolls tasted a bit dry and like they had been made days before. Hair on plate (that was definitely not ours). House salad had several pieces of spoiled lettuce (slimy and black). Rest of the food was mediocre, but terribly overpriced. However service was friendly and the view of the mountains was nice.

We came in during the off season and the food.was excellent. Just like a warm and great home cooked meal in a dining room that looks like you’re in someone’s home, where you feel great afterwards. That is the beat way I can describe it. The area does not have a lot of kid friendly restaurants, but Amelia’s has a good selection of choices for kids. My kids loved the chicken tenders and the spaghetti and meatballs. Slightly over priced but it’s in a snow resort area, and it took a little time to get the food but we were here during a very quiet period for the area. Will return.

Very pricey ,not a lot of food. Tasted awful. The decor was outdated but clean the staff was friendly. My husband ordered BBQ chicken and French fries. Suppose to be 2 chicken breast., it was one cut in half. I got the roast beef (where'd the beef) mashed potatoes and vegetables. The gravy was jelled. The vegetable was not fresh. My 5 year old order a spaghetti and meatballs. Meatball was hard and sauce tasted terrible. Bottom line you don't get what you pay for here. A lot of cutting corners.

The Breakfast Nook is a charming spot that offers a delightful breakfast experience. The menu features locally sourced and freshly prepared dishes, such as biscuits and homemade sausage gravy, eggs, hash browns, and farm-to-table meats. The establishment prides itself on serving "food with a purpose," supporting young adults in learning life skills. Additionally, they have a new outdoor patio for guests to enjoy. With friendly and efficient service from staff like Taylor and Matt, visitors can expect an enjoyable dining experience.
The food was great- especially the bacon! A true farm to table operation as stated. Service was exceptional. If you’re planning on visiting The Breakfast Nook, please be mindful of their business model and patient with the staff. The atmosphere is cozy, but it is very small and seating is limited. It is cash and check only with an ATM on site.

This place is amazing, ignore all the 1 star review, they are either lying or are bad horrible people im the world. The food is AMAZING; tasty very fresh and homemade, and is not pricey at all… the stuff were so nice to us and we were so amazed with the beautiful project they have helping young stuff to become more responsible and out of trouble. We loved every single thing about this place and we were very grateful to have a delicious breakfast on our way back home.

I wish I could say many nice words, but we had a very disappointing experience. The food is over priced, I had a medium sized biscuit cut in half with maybe four tablespoons of sausage gravy that was gritty with lumps that seemed to be flour not blended in, for a price of $14.00. My knife had a sticky residue on the blade. My husband said his omelette was eatable, but not the standard of most establishments, he received a half cup of coffee, we were the last customers to arrive around 10:45, they close at 12 noon, we assumed they did want to make another pot and didn’t offer a refill, and he had to ask for the toast that was to be included with his meal. Lastly they didn’t give us napkins.

We had breakfast with a purpose at The Breakfast Nook. This place is amazing! This restaurant, farm, & catering business is a live and work environment opportunity for emerging young adults to learn through on the job training to become independent through real life experiences, guided by mentors and life coaches. 💙💛👏🏻😲😍 These amazing people are doing amazing things. The staff was very friendly and my breakfast burrito was yummy and made with their own farm fresh ingredients. Talking with Mike the owner was the highlight of my day. Getting to hear about his business model and how his main objective was just to teach these young people life skills with love and hard work.

The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was very friendly. We ate there twice and both times it was cooked to perfection and served fast. The story behind this restaurant is an amazing one as well. Make sure you read the back of the menu or talk to one of the owners who are always there to learn about the story.

Way over priced! My husband got 1 biscuit with gravy and a can of coke, I got loaded hashbrown with gravy and a can of coke. Our total was $34!! I definitely do not recommend. And they do not take debit cards! Cash or check!
Carrie M — Google review
Expensive would be ok if the food was good, but it wasn't. I LOVE biscuits and gravy - but the portion was small, and the gravy was dark and unappealing, like it had been overcooked. The hash browns were under-cooked, the onion was raw.
David P — Google review
The dishes only give you the main breakfast meal (like omelette with 2 slices of bread) without home-fries or tater-tots like other places offer, but they charge full price so it ends up being expensive, and it is a CASH ONLY business. Be advised that the menu states there are no substitutions or changes to their recipes and an overcharge fee will apply if you decide to “share”. I like sharing a portion of bacon with my spouse, but decided not to order it after seeing that notice in the menu. And the food was eatable but not tasty or fulfilling, I actually added ketchup to be able to swallow the overcooked outer omelette and undercooked inside the omelette, but I was hungry and had the food in front of me, so I ate it. I would not recommend and will never go back.

One server, very efficient and nice, but stressed to max with no help for 14 people. Seated 45 minutes before food, but it was worth the wait. Fresh preparation and very tasty. Everything clean and nice, with a great view.

The food was tasty. The parking was easy. There was a little wait before they brought us the menu and the food. The restrooms were clean. The people who worked there were nice and helpful. There was an amazing view inside the restaurant. It's spacious. It could be a very good spot to hang out, too.

Good pizza, nice tap selection, friendly staff. We have been coming to Canaan Valley for years and only recently stopped in. Had a great experience and we will be back! Thank you so much.
Nicholas K — Google review
We spent the day hiking and this was the first place we came to. It had one of the lower rating, but the parking lot was full so we stopped. Should have kept going to pick a better rated restaurant. Food was priced high for what it was. We order a pizza and two salads. They were busy, but realized that many seated had been waiting well over an hour and half for just pizza. Watched three seprate tables decide to leave, tired of waiting and I don't blame them. While I witnessed the waitresses busy, some how efficiency was off. I'm sure the kitchen was filling take out orders first and everyone that dine-in just had to wait. Now, if it was great food maybe it would be worth it, but our pizza was just, "meh". Pick one of the 4+☆ rates in town or drive to Davis or Thomas to get a bite to eat.
Tracy D — Google review
Very disappointed in this establishment. If you are low on employees, close the dining room or don't open at all. The pasta came out fine, but the pizza we ordered came out an hour and a half later - raw - and the other pizzas for our friends never came out. Maybe when they are fully staffed its a good place and that night was just a bad night- but feel it out before you go. Not worth it in my opinion.
Betsy B — Google review
First time visiting and I must agree with other reviews saying service isn't great here. We waited more than 10 minutes and nobody came to our table. When they finally did I felt our server was sweet but for some reason they took so long and it felt awkward. The food was really good specially the wings and salad, I got the Caesar salad and stuffed shells and also we ordered Hawaiian pizza. The place is spacious and has a bar section and billar table for those who want to play. All servers seemed to be in a bad mood except for our waitress, she was friendly and attentive but the environment felt a bit hostile. I think the food is decent and surprisingly good for the restaurants location, literally in the middle of nowhere. Give it a shot maybe you are lucky to have friendly staff on the day you visit!

We are regulars here and we LOVE the food at Mama Mia's!!! Everything we have had is stellar! The owners are such sweet people that take clearly great pride in their restaurant. Pro tip: when you come for dinner, sit in the bar area and have Tracy serve you! We've always sat in the main dining room and missed the opportunity to be waited on by the best server in Tucker County until tonight!
Golden C — Google review
We were told to find a seat in the dining room. Waited 15 minutes and not a single person came over to us. They were busy but 4 people were working. We finally went and asked for menus and got them, but waited another 15 minutes and finally got up and left after 30 minutes of being ignored. When we asked about menus the waitresses rolled their eyes and were extremely rude and just snapped back that they were busy. Three other tables got up and left too while we were sitting there. It wasn’t even full in the dining room. Everything looked and smelled delicious but never got acknowledged after 30 minutes.

Subway is a popular casual counter-service chain that specializes in customizable sandwiches and salads, catering to health-conscious diners. While the space can feel a bit cramped during busy times, many patrons have enjoyed their visits, especially when served by friendly staff like Carly and Lily, who are known for crafting delicious sandwiches that hold together perfectly. This spot offers a great value option for those looking to grab a quick bite in Canaan Valley without breaking the bank.
The store is a nice place to eat. The best time to eat there is when Carly or Lily are working. They know how to make the sandwiches and close them without everything falling apart when you go to eat it. So if you want a great sandwich with great service go see these 2 ladies at Subway!

Space-challenged in a packed store, to say the least, but we have ordered several times, and have never been disappointed. It is great to have a value-priced option for food in Canaan Valley, and this is it. Please support them to keep this lower-cost option open and thriving!

I didn't think that it existed at first but it is actually hidden inside the gas station continence store. There is a tiny light up sign in front window but otherwise I would have completely missed it. While physically there, if there wasn't a guy behind the counter I would have sworn it was closed. In the end I couldn't bring my self to eat in there because it was hot and they were out of white bread, the most basic of basics.

Tavern on the James is a charming restaurant and bar located in a historic building. The owner, Kelley, is known for being accommodating and attentive to guests' needs. The food is highly praised, with options like French onion soup and Reuben sandwiches receiving positive feedback. The staff are described as friendly and helpful, providing excellent service. Guests appreciate the cozy atmosphere and the variety of dining spaces available within the establishment.
Had some pretty darn good food. Fish & chips were very good, and the spicy chicken sandwich was scrumptious. Beer was ice-cold, too! Yet, the service was the best. Elijah, our server, was the most courteous and effective guy ever! Will likely return in the future.
Bryan O — Google review
I've eaten at the Tavern many times in the past. At lunch I usually order the special or the standard great fruit salad. Today I tried the chef salad. AVOID THE CHEF SALAD. It consisted of a large bowl of lettuce and very, very meager of anything else but a little bacon. I would rate a 1 , but the bacon on top was really good bacon. GREAT SERVICE. Special shout out to Tess.

I was going to leave this place 1 star but the manager and the chefs saved the day! My family and I stopped here on our way back home from a long road trip. It was family friendly and looked like the food would be quick. We ordered a couple burgers and chicken nuggets for the kids. The food took almost an hour to come out. I also ordered a French onion soup which never came out for some reason. The waitress offered to bring it out after I already got my burger but I declined as I prefer to have soup, salad or apps before my main course, not after. When we walked in, the manager was working the front of the house. It was my wife’s birthday so I snuck away to let the manager know so he can order the Muddy River cake after our food. Not 5 minutes after I have this conversation with him, the waitress walks straight up to my wife and informs her that her ‘surprise’ birthday cake will be out after the food!!! I am still confused why someone would do that! Luckily the food was REALLY good! The cake, the burgers, everything! Also, the manager apologized and bought the desert for us which was really nice. I was going to leave 1 star because of how long the food took, the soup thing, and the ruined surprise but I feel like I can’t do that since the food was actually really good and the manager tried his best to make it right.

Fantastic small town find!! Perfect spot to get lunch while driving to/from a hike in the Blue Ridge mountains. My waitress Tiffany was super friendly and positive and had great recommendations. I tried the Big Chick, a new menu item, which had ham & a ground chicken burger between two grilled cheeses. Unique and original and very, very tasty. Fries were fantastic as well. Glad I stopped here and I would go out of my way to come back!

Happy to try this iconic Scottsville institution midday on a Friday. I had a delicious BLT with fries and a Diet Pepsi. The regulars had not quite started rolling in so I enjoyed a peaceful lunch at the bar. Reasonable service and a fun bar. Definitely worth a visit while passing through!
Jennifer M — Google review
French onion soup was excellent broth w onions. Could have been baked a little longer to give me some crisp on the cheese. The Reuben was decent but I found it a little bland, but dipping it in the soup made the two excellent together. French fries or better than the homemade chips which was a surprise. Maybe the chips were cooked beforehand. My vegetarian wife had the grilled cheese and it liked it.

This establishment offers a delightful experience for everyone to enjoy. The food, prepared in the American style, is absolutely delicious and satisfying. You will find that the prices are very reasonable, making it an excellent value. There is seating both indoors and outdoors, allowing you to choose your preferred ambiance. The inclusion of a fun bar enhances the overall experience, perfect for socializing. It is a great spot to unwind and create lasting memories with friends or family. The combination of the food, environment, and bar makes it a really attractive location. This place is indeed a fantastic choice for a great time.

We were seated and waited endlessly for the waitress to bring our order. I ordered the Cesar salad with chicken. It was thee worse Caesar salad I ever tasted. The bowl was filled with old dark green soggy bitter lettuce. It was soupy and soggy with huge amount of garlic to disguise the taste. The chicken was tiny strips of recooked very hard stale chicken. Needless to say I could not eat it. The waitress never came back only to give me a $22 dollar bill for only that small stale bowl of stale everything! When I politely told her why I could not eat it and was shocked at the price, she walked away after collecting our money!! Please spare yourself a horrible experience and go somewhere else!

Don't miss out on this great little bistro if you're in Davis. The all-day breakfast is fantastic and plentiful. The milkshakes are a must have. Great service and large portions. Hope to stop here again when I'm in town.

We got milkshakes and a burger and fries. Danny was very welcoming and attentive. He made excellent milkshakes and they looked exactly like the pictures. The kids loved them. The burger was huge and the fries were crunchy and curly. The table next to us loved their food too! Highly recommend.

I was driving through the area and honestly stopped in because I have heard sooooo many good things about the staff, the atmosphere and the amazing milkshakes. Let me tell you, this is exactly what we needed in this area!!! Different specials, delicious shakes and an amazing group of individuals that treat the customers like family!!! Thank you to everybody at The BWB, you have made a regular out of me!!! See ya tomorrow for lunch!!!!

Was very expensive. We got ice cream there. We got 4 single scoops and it totaled out at just over $15. It tasted great but the serving was insanely stingy. It's like they tried to see what is the smallest scoop you can make with an ice cream scoop. I don't normally leave reviews, but I was so disappointed with this place I actually looked up their business to leave one.

What a nice little stop. Friendly, with amazing food and the desserts are wow! Be sure you stop by on you way through or too Davis, WV.
Ellen K — Google review
I stopped here after skiing to buy my kid a milkshake and left my card behind. Realizing my mistake later, I called and told them to throw the card away and I would just get a new one. The person I spoke to offered to drive my card to me (I was far away) and then offered to mail it to me. I said sure (figuring I would end up reporting it lost when it didn’t arrive). Tonight, my card came in the mail. I am so impressed at the customer service. I’m not often in that part of the world but I will stop every single time I am. My kid also loved the milkshake.
