Where to eat: the 25 best restaurants in La Junta

The last time I was in La Junta I googled restaurants in the area and this place popped up with a few others for world-famous green chili. I don't know what the backstory is on that in terms of who conducted the awards and how many restaurants were involved. I would consider this green chili to be above average though and medium to hot in terms of spiciness, but it didn't make me crave it to the point where I was like "I have to have this again". The hash browns, gravy, and french toast were all very generic and are not worth getting. The pancake wasn't bad (a little dry) but I have also had way better pancakes than the ones this place makes. The most unique item I had was the biscuit. It tasted excellent, was very soft, and judging by the appearance of it would guess the kitchen makes them from scratch. I have not had biscuits quite like these ones and would recommend anybody stopping by try them out. I would also request it by itself and not be smothered in gravy.

The club sandwich was ok. But what is this Grinder sandwich I ordered for nearly $11 bucks. This looks terrible. When I think grinder I think lunch meat cheese sandwich, not this pressed patty. Only serve Breakfast until 11 am

Diners like this are my favorite and I stop as often as I can while traveling with my camper. This is a nice diner with good atmosphere and the food was spot on delicious. Service is excellent. Everyone seems so happy to be there. If I lived in this charming town of La Junta, I would be a regular! Thank you for the experience Copper Kitchen!

Stopped in for breakfast while in town for a getaway. Maybe it is where I'm from, but for the price, we truly expected better. I had the two egg plate with bacon and wheat toast. The bacon was good. The bread had no flavor. My partner had a pancake with bacon. He said his pancake had no flavor, and the syrup was overly sweet. And even if it would have been great, the portion sizes weren't worth the price. It was a hard miss for us.

It was very good food, service, and atmosphere. Our server was great, very polite and friendly, lived here smile that she had for us and all her other customers. The food was superb, the chicken fried steak was great, and the dinner rolls were homemade and wow delicious. The place had a very homey and comfortable feel to it. Will be going back as often as I can.

We wont eat here again. Everything was so greasy! We all had extreme stomach pain the rest of the day! Service was not great and the $16.00 giant burger is a regular size patties with a regular size bun that took them over 30 minutes to make. Food was cold and greasy. Wasted $52.00 for three regular meals.

At Felisa’s you get a 10% discount if you’re staying at the Holiday Inn Express next door. The food is alright, good place to stop by if you’re in a pinch as there aren’t many other options. I ordered the Veggie Quesadilla which was more like a veggie pizza. I also tried the Bean Burrito and Sopaipillas for dessert. The sopaipillas were doughy - not like what I’m used to in New Mexico and they were served with packets of honey. The service was excellent and love the Mexican themed ambiance!

Never in my life after 30 years in the restaurant business have I ever seen a place where the waitress has to bus their own tables wow! The owner needs to revisit this idea. How can a server serve their customers when they are to busy bussing dirty tables. It took forever to get our food because they were cleaning dirty tables instead of taking care of folks drinks, food, or whatever they needed our waitress said that owner though this was a great idea. terrible service. The waitress was very nice but also frustrated that she couldn't take care of her customers that would essentially be giving her a tip me. Sad

First of all, our dog was allowed in! He's 13 and blind, and we were so appreciative. Servers super friendly and very competent. Food delicious, fairly priced, and served in a timely fashion. From PA. If we come this way again, will definitely be back.

Don't mean to sound mean but I'm not sure how the salsa could be considered salsa. It was more like chili powder in tomato sauce. Totally different than any Mexican i have had and I have had a lot of different Mexican food . We had the fajita, I couldnt even cut the chicken with my fork. Very tough. We got the cheese dip. It was probably the best part of the whole meal . It tasted like it's just the nachos cheese you can buy at the store. Our waitress was very friendly and kind.

it's hit and miss. Eaten here 5x. Had fajitas this time they were obviously old meat from the previous day so the cook burned the meat to leather. They were soaked in so much oil to cover this it was pretty nasty. Salsa embarassing & the chips were stale. This place runs at best a consistent 3.5

We have been coming to La Junta for 20 years and eating at Felisa each time. How do they stay so good for so long? It's a mystery. We don't know when we will be back but when we do we will eat here again. The chips are served warm and it's obvious that the guacamole is made fresh.

Decided to drop in for dinner. Staff was great, not terribly busy on a Saturday at 4pm. Food was good! My wife had the Filet mignon and it was super tasty. My French Dip had a good portion of meet on it. Full bar if you need it.

1. I ordered chicken butts they were pretty small and they looked like snake eggs we told them that we wanted chicken butts and they said OK and then when they came back with chicken strips2. We told them about it and she said that that’s what I gave you the first time.2 I cut them open and there was chicken, but the chicken was small and the whole entire chicken butt was the size of my charging block.4. she came back with the ticket and the amount of the bill was $78.10 we got the amount out and then she came back with another bill and she said this is the right amount sorry the, total was $83.01 she pocketed the tip, even though we wanted the change and she never even thought about coming back so we left and we are not happy at all and will not be coming back.

We were traveling through LA Junta and asked our Hotel owner for recommendations of locally owned restaurants for supper and this was one of 2 they recommended. The atmosphere was saloon like. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was OUTSTANDING! I like my rib eye steak medium rare and it's usually served medium. This came exactly as ordered with outstanding flavor! My spouse ordered chicken fried steak and loved it!

Everything about this experience was great, awesome and fantastic. I had the chicken fried steak sandwich and it was delicious. Their potatoe salad is so good that I wanted to eat a 5 gallon bucket of it. The Lemon Meringue pie was the bomb. And to top it all off the service was terrific because the waitress was friendly and efficient. Great place. I'll be back.

Super friendly and pleasant staff. I had the carnitas and they were great while my wife had the bean and potato burrito and she loved it. The margs are great only to be topped by the tres leches or cheesecake desserts! Great vibe and well appointed bar top off this “find” in La Junta. Thanks for a good dinner!

This restaurant came recommended by a relative who lives in La Junta. I have traveled across the United States and this is hands-down some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. All of the staff and the owner were extremely nice. I ordered takeout (tamale, cheese enchilada, bean tostada, beans, and vermicelli) and my food was ready in less than five minutes! This restaurant is located very close to Otero Junior College McDivitt Center. They only accept cash so keep that in mind.

Ordered chicken enchiladas but you would've thought they were only cheese with how little chicken I got. Its like they honestly gave me a PINCH of chicken lol

We came through La Junta about a year ago and had a wonderful meal here so this time we decided to return. Everything started out great. The wait staff was attentive and friendly at first but when we got the bill it was not itemized. Also we had to wait a long time to check out. I presented my Mastercard and was then told that they don’t accept credit cards, only cash or checks and there was an ATM on site. Luckily I had the cash. I did not see any sign that said no credit cards and waitstaff did not notify me. I ordered a no. 12 that was recommended by our waiter but can’t remember what they called it. I ordered it with mild sauce but it was too spicy for me and the flavor was mediocre. I won’t be back.

The location is very conveniently located near KOA campground. We visited on Sunday later morning. There was no wait to be seated. Our host and server were both very attentive, friendly, and polite. I had eggs Benedict, hash browns, and a side of sausage gravy. The English muffins are huge! My eggs were poached perfectly and the sausage gravy was smooth but still had plenty of sausage. The hash browns were actually Brown, as requested. George's Denver omelet was thick and fluffy and, again, the English muffin was huge. Our chocolate and white milks were served cold with the food. Mens room could use fresh paint, but was clean. If we're in the area again we will visit here.

I'm shocked that this place has a high rating, but I assume it's because pickings are slim in this town. The staff were all nice enough so I don't want to be too mean but it really was bad food and overpriced for the quality and service. They charge $13 for a BLT that only had 3 pieces of bacon on it and a sliver of yellow lettuce. The waitress never checked on us, so my wife had to go to find someone just to get a drink refill. She also ordered a piece of pie that the waitress never brought, but it wasn't even worth complaining about, so we just left. We did leave a tip, but it was just out of pity. There is a McDonald's down the street. I honestly wish we had gone there because it would have been half the price for the same or better quality.

Went in on a Sunday morning, we beat most of the employees to work. The giant sassy guy at the front door surprised me with his high pitched voice, I was expecting more of a Hulk Hogan type voice. We sat down, finally got our heart shaped pancakes, I didn't order them this way, I think the dude at the front was kinda sweet on me! He did say I looked like a good lookin stack of pancakes! There was a lady that came out of the kitchen, that looked like she was gonna beat the brakes off of the next person that ordered heart shaped pancakes. I bet she had a great personality, I'm sorry I didn't take a swing at her for ragging on my heart shaped cakes

Usually has good food but my most recent visit made me ill. I ordered the Florentine omelette with hash browns and an english muffin for breakfast, along with a cup of coffee. Soon after I finished my meal, I started feeling sick. Then I developed a bad headache (I never get headaches in general) and now projectile diarrhea from that food! I feel so bad I have not had any other meals. Buyer beware, I developed food poisoning after eating at this establishment.

Good good quick service. Salt pepper shrimp was good. Orange chicken was not the best but good. Fried rice comes in a pot that is shown in pics. Worth a try. One thing is, they could use a little music to mellow out all the family talk.

We found this place online, and checked the menu before going. There were lots of choices, inluding dessert. When we got there, the actual menu was quite limited, with no dessert. The waitress was also the cook. The food was mediocre, the service bad. I would not reccomend this place.

This place is for sale, no wonder. Rotten food and Rotten service. They were out of several items on the menu. The bartender, server was so unfriendly. The cheese sticks were inedible and the burgers were terrible. I know from experience how hard it is to run a bar. This one is failing. Save your money and go somewhere else. I absolutely do not recommend. I hate saying this but it's the truth.

A nice bar near the actual BNSF rail yard with railroad pictures and memorabilia on the walls. The food was good and the beer was cold and the service very good.

Oh, what an amazing place! I stopped by on a train trip through the US and was welcomed by the locals and the lovely barwoman. Everyone was being so nice, the atmosphere was great and they serve great local (and other) beer. If ever you have the chance to come here, don't miss it!

Place is up for sale. Was super hot inside. Very limited menu, currently. Worst burger I've ever had. Threw it away.

Cool rail yard theme. Great design with the decor. Slick new flatscreens. My wife and I enjoyed the preseason football game and a tasty burger. The drinks were great.

Don't go expecting to be able to order the food shown on the menu. The owner knows it's not correct but won't fix it. I guess hoping people will come in and stay anyway.

I had the burger with avocado and bacon, don't remember the name of it, but it was delicious. The waffle fries were fresh hot and amazing also. Our server was very friendly, and attentive. I would/will recommend this place to anyone who asks for a good place to eat.

We ordered The Gobbler. The fries are great. The seasoning is perfect. The sandwich, however, was soggy. Almost like the meat was setting in water. But the place is beautiful and the waitress is friendly. She stayed on top of everything.

We came in with a huge family gathering. Lots of small children that were to loud and they gave us our own room and shut the doors for the rest of the restaurant. They served us an amazing meal and made us feel extra special. I am so sorry if other guests were disturbed during their meal because it is an amazing place with amazing food. It was happened I need to sleep overnight in La Junta, found on maps this place is the best restaurant in the city and I decided to try. The interior looks nice (except restroom), however, food was little over-salted. Beer was good and service was really good and fast.

I had a cup of chicken tortilla soup - it was delicious, as was the chicken fried steak I ordered. My husband and son had mixed green salads that were nice and fresh and the house made blue cheese dressing was maybe the best I’ve ever tasted.

The food was great! It is in a basement setting so there are stairs. A bar atmosphere. The service was delightful! We are from out of town and found Jodi's online. Would eat there again.

Good food great prices! Excellent people!!! 08/19/2024 Wife and I came must have had a new cook bc the burgers were soo sooo soggy. Which wasn't the problem...the problem was is that when my wife took the burger back the manager on duty informed her that the burger sat so long and that's why it's soggy. She said it was 30 minutes however it was soggy from the get go and I chose to eat my fries first but it wasn't a 30 minute wait till I ate the burger. I attempted to consume the soppy wet burger and failed. So my wife took it back. And manager stated it had been to long. We were still in the restaurant eating our meal.

Every. Single. Time. I go here I specifically request "light condiments" that means light ketchup. Light mayo. Tell me why almost every single time I receive my food it looks like this.... This is unedible guys. And when i called multiple times to try and get my order fixed I was greeted with silence before they just flat out hung up on me without saying a word. This is very disappointing as I am a frequent customer and have only had my order correctly made once.

Usually don’t have too many issues here. Like the food tastes good and service was decent. Just never got a burger where looks like either it piece out either on purpose or just not paying attention but first time ever had something look like it.

I ordered a guacamole bacon burger. This is the mess I got. Old tomato. Barely any guacamole & the burger was very salty. I also ordered a vanilla milkshake. Advertised with real ice cream. Tasted like that milkshake mix alot of places use. Needless to say I wasted $15 on these 2 items.

Went through the drive thru the lady was great and fast and friendly. The queso burger was fire and the price is what it is. Food quality was on point and seemed to be fresh.

The food was awful. I ordered a #4 with no bun, they gave it to me wrapped in lettuce with dirt ALL over it. I didn't even ask for the lettuce, and they didn't give any options. My burger was also cold. I've never been to a Carl's Jr this bad!

The food was cold, but the young guy in the drive thru seemed nice. The second time my food from sonic tasted like French toast sticks.. different sonics in different states. They really should separate their fryers.

First and Most important is the hatch green chili is off the hook now. i hope it always stays this flavor. This Sonic has always been hit or miss. For a while we did not eat here because of the misses. Every once in a while ate at a Sonic somewhere else and food was always so much superior. but.... Lately this sonic has stepped up to the plate and back to make some very good food. out of the last 10 visits 9 were spot on with expectations. the 1 not was first thing in the am and ordered a burger and the bread was rock hard like it was left out all night. i ended up eating it like a tostada and only ate the non bread parts.

Never going back place sucks and there is a problem every time I go. Not just once not twice not three times. Damn near every time. The workers must have been dropped on their heads.

There was quite a line at drive-thru and I only ordered a drink yet had to wait on all orders in front. This sonic is very slow, most will bring the drink out so you can go, not this one.

Their is a girl with tattoos on her arm she is very unhappy and rude. If you don't like your job find another one. 15 min wait for 2 footlong hotdogs

My carhop Mckell was super rude and condescending the entire time I was at La junta sonic. She kept rushing me the whole time I was trying to order. She huffed her breath at me every time I added a new item. It was the worst experience I’ve ever had. So rude and I’ve heard from multiple people that she always behaves like this ! Smh will not be going back

The service was kinda slow getting us our food. When we got our food, it was good.

I waited in the lobby and watched several people get their food served to them. There was someone running food through the lobby out the door and he passed my food several times. They served a big group of people that came in after me and my orders were fairly simple. A biggie bag for one and two sandwiches and fries for another. I've never had to wait this long for service from Wendy's and usually they do an okay job. I thought it was kind of crazy and it's really unfortunate that their quality has been dropping like this. I went to eat my baconator fries and the container that is usually black was white on sections of it like it had been heated up or something.

Why do they put those dome covers on the cup? I thought those were to keep the ingredients in, but when they don't even fill the cup completely up, what's the point? 😕 I wanted to try the frosty cream coffee and found it awful with hardly any ice, causing it to be lukewarm. Nothing worse than lukewarm coffee, yuk. As well as the half filled cup of frosty.

1st: don’t pay with large bills, this requires manager assistance- who is less than thrilled to assist the very kind male cashier. 2nd: I hope you like stale buns 3rd: the inside of this location is full of flies.

Asked for a fresh salad . They gave me a brown lettuce and old chicken that was from days ago and it was so old it looked dried.

Clean and fast service. We we waited only about 10 minutes total. Fresh fries.

I bought a 6 in sub meal. One of the works made the sub and rang me up. I didnt pay attention to the amount until I was down the road a bit. I realized they charged for a 12 in all American club and I got a 6 in turkey. I was about 10 minutes away but turned around. When I went back the I brought my receipt and food in. I asked the worker for a partial refund. Mistakes happen and not a big deal. The man immediately got defensive and said that I told him a 12 in all American. I said I did not tell him that, in fact he didnt ask me as he made it. I told him that the women in front of me ordered that sub not me. He immediately said that I was not being truthful and that I would have to wait for someone else to come up and help me. There were no other customers so I didnt understand why he did not go get this other person from the back. He just stood there and kept saying it was my fault and I told him that. I did try to reason with him and say its not a big deal but he continued to get rude with me. Matthew eventually came out and at first advised I would have to come back as the manager with the code was not in. I explained to him I would not be back as the worker was completely unprofessional and honestly I felt threatened by the fact he was so aggressive over a mistake he made. Matthew called the manager and was able to resolve the issue and gave me some of my money back. I appreciated his effort however the other worker made me so uncomfortable I will not return here.

2 things, one the guy at the counter Justin I think it was. He need to work in the back on carry out orders or in a warehouse because he just doesn't know how to talk to customers, he's just kind of rude and stand offshore. Secound I can't order this online because they never toast the online orders and then they just don't taste right so they need some quality control there.

Used the app. I paid close attention. This Subway did not. Did not receive bag of chips. I asked for MORE red onions and green peppers, I received zero. Other sandwich that asked for MORE got one tiny slice green pepper and two partial slices of red onion. These were Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches. What a disappointment. $44.26 for one sorry footlong and one 6" meal delivered. Won't repeat this mistake.

Best Subway in town hands down. Manager Juanita is friendly and always helpful. My only complaint has to be the delicious Soup. You go to your seat, take the lid off, eat your sub and visit for an hour. Then place lid on and maybe can eat it in an hour or so after you get home. Does soup have to be that hot?

Me and a friend of mine with their for lunch. We got a meal deal for $6.99 which was a footlong sandwich chips and a drink. I love the tuna sandwich along with 2 cookies instead of chips.

Payed for 8 boneless chicken for $12 and this is what three of my boneless chickens looked like! I asked if I can get a new batch and the manager said they’re not allowed to do that due to cross contamination???

I hadn't had Pizza Hut for quite awhile because last time I Ordered food to go.It came out like fifty bucks for a medium pizza a side dish a couple lava cakes. My friend took me there recently and it wasn't as expensive as I remembered, but still expensive. We got a very tasty three topping large pizza and wings and it was very good.

This place has gone down hill. Don't bother if you have diet restrictions. They will just throw whatever they feel like on it. And trying to send it back is a nightmare, the phone just goes to a call center or they never answer. All my recent orders have been messed up. I think I'll just stop ordering until I hear of some improvement in this location.

Pizza Hut is my go to Friday night meal. Nothing beats a stuffed crust supreme from Pizza Hut. Gloria and staff are always happy to help with a smile. I was so glad to hear Corp. Went to Pizza Hut at 10:15 and they said the lobby was closed when the website says they close at 11 o clock, the door says 12 o clock. So either they need to change the time on the door and the website, or the girl who was working closed early because she’s lazy 🤷🏽‍♀️

Ordered one pizza online, after over an hour started trying to call and couldn't get anyone to answer. After awhile longer it told me door dash was coming to get it. When it got here it was dry, poorly cut and had absolutely no sauce on it. I would call to complain but the store won't answer the phone.

Got garlic & parmesan boneless chicken and mild wing. My mild wings had a good amount of sauce but the garlic parm and nothing at all on it. We called got a free 8 pc and when we went to pick it up we were told "ask for extra sauce next time, we have been getting complaints about it but they don't come with much sauce" which is a lie. that was the first time that has happened were we didn't get any sauce and we get those every few weeks. Ask for extra means I might have to pay extra for something that I should already get on my chicken in the first place. Watch out for yourself and call ahead of time so you don't get charged extra by the young people that don't know how to do their jobs. I've fried chicken for 11 years never seen that.

Food was pretty good but the portions were tiny compared to other places near here and cost more. Our normal go-to Chinese place was closed and we decided to give it a try. The people were very nice but as I stated, portions were very small for the price we paid. Except the soup, very good size for price. If you want to help support a local restaurant, this is a good one but don’t go there hungry.

We have eaten here many times. I love Chinese food and eat it every chance I get. It definitely seems to vary from region to region within the United States, so if you are used to the Chinese food in one region of the U.S., it is definitely different in Colorado. That being said, this is some of the best I've had in Colorado. They will cook it to your preferred spiciness. I like their beef and broccoli, volcano chicken, but, by far, they make the best egg rolls I've ever eaten, anywhere...even better than I found in San Francisco's Chinatown! Cons: The bathrooms are located in a foyer when you walk in. They obviously have a sewer pipe broken as the smell is unmistakable. Pros: Great food. Great prices. People have commented on the owner. She's amazing when you really talk to her. She's funny and accommodating. She likes to complain sometimes, but it's hilarious and she's doing it in a fun way, but I think people may take her as being rude because she dead-pans her joke delivery. However, she means to make you laugh. This is one of the places we always eat at in La Junta.

The bathrooms right as you walk in were quite unpleasant but if you can make it past the entrance, the egg rolls were incredible. I ordered 2 more but could have ordered a dozen. Staff friendly. Other food was pretty good.

Egg rolls are amazing. Service was good and so was the food. The inside is very plain. The one downside is that when you walk in the restrooms are right there before you enter the dining area. Not so scrumptious smells.

I wouod have liked the Dim sum but the sauces had too much vinegar. The dumplings were good though. The entrée tasted like they used old meat. I wish I could of given a better rating. The server was very plesent and the place was clean.

Thought we'd give this a try but it was a waste of money. Everything was beyond bland. No spice in any of the dishes that were to be spicy. They had some weird dressing type dip for the spring rolls when there should be peanut sauce. My pad thai wasn't that but even had a ton of grease at the bottom of the container and my son's shrimp dish was watered down (it looked like soup) and had a layer of grease on that as well. We were completely disappointed and definitely won't be going back again.

I got the 2 meat plate for $18, sorely disappointed. Not a lot of food for that money, the macaroni and cheese had very little, you know, CHEESE, and the cole slaw tasted weird, like it had dill in it! Definitely not worthy of their advertisement "best BBQ in town!"

As a southerner who grew up eating bbq this is by far the best ribs I've ever had in my life! Don't let the outside fool you, this place is very nice inside and the food is amazing!

So we are from KY, home of the BBQ fest, by far this food exceeded our expectations ! What a great place! The range of sauces blew us away, we know BBQ and I'm telling you this little spot is underrated! Isaac invited us over we were going to do takeout so glad we stopped and took a seat, great conversation to go along with the food, nice big TV's that we could actually hear and see what was going on! We had the 3 meat and slaw, baked beans and fried pickles. The ribs were slap your Mama good, the brisket and pulled pork was amazing, not greasy and fatty. We will be back when we travel to LaJunta, CO again. I'm actually to to make an excuse to go out of town again just to stop in here ! Thanks Isaac for a memorable experience

We had a unique request as we came to La Junta to be with my gpa who is fighting lung & liver cancer. Ted and his team were so nice about helping us make this Thanksgiving special by purchasing a Turkey, herbs and spices to brine & smoke a Turkey just for us! The Turkey was very flavorful, & the leg meat was nice and juicy and falling off the bone-YUM! Creekside BBQ went above & beyond for our family, and even opened up the place to hand it over on Thanksgiving morning, before Ted went out of town for his family’s plans. The customer service, enthusiasm for smoking our Turkey and emphasis on a quality small town business was refreshing and commendable as we live in a busy non-personable big city -Phoenix, AZ. Ted even followed up a few days later to check in on how we liked it and show empathy for our situation. My family had so many good things to say about this Turkey, and ALSO raved about how good the Ribs were when they got some before we arrived to town! Definitely worth stopping in and they have a friendly, clean restaurant ready to feed your family! Go try it! Nov2022update:thanksgiving eve I am still feeling grateful that Ted was able to make such a lasting memory for my family. My grandfather passed away in Feb 2022 so it truly was his last thanksgiving that Ted made special with that gorgeous, delicious smoked Turkey. Had to wait longer than I expected for my dinner, but the food was well worth the wait! BBQ was phenomenal and the staff where kind and considerate. 10/10 will be coming again in the future!

Great Food! Friendly Service! Reasonable Prices! We have been to Creekside a few times and have never been disappointed. Isaac is friendly and the food is some of the best around, plus you get a LOT of food for your money. We have had the brisket, pulled pork, sausage, ribs and many of the sides and it was all very tasty. The brisket is probably my favorite and the quality of the smoked meat is some of the best I have seen.

We love this hometown BBQ joint. We hadn't dined inside since their fire, and were pleasantly surprised at how awesome it looks! My favorite is the Grilled Zeke, but can't wait to try some of the other sandwiches. My husband always gets the brisket. Staff is always friendly and service is great. Happy to have great BBQ!

I went in for the mini bites and got a small lunch pizza instead because the wait was 20 mins for what I wanted. The mini pizza was very greasy and gave me upset stomach .....never eating there again 😞

We called in a order today April 6th 2024. We got our order took it home and our pizzas were nasty and thin as paper. We ordered our breadsticks extra buttery and cheesy well they were dry and hardly had any cheese. What's up with you all? How hard is it to take a food order and fallow instruction?. Maybe I should go work their and show you all how to pay attention to how your customers want their food prepared. It must just be La junta because even Sonic can't get anyone's orders right. I hate this town

The easiest 5 stars I could give! Would give 10 if we could! Husband and I happened to stop here on a road trip out west. We picked it based on the Google reviews, and it definitely exceeded our expectations! Best pizza in the town for sure, but even if you’re remotely close I’d highly suggest making a special trip just for this gem. Even though we live a few states away, we already promised each other we would make a point to stop here again on our next roadtrip. Jeff (the owner) is the coolest guy and made us feel super welcomed. He is very passionate about his craft and is dedicated to making the best Brooklyn style pizza, using an authentic Italian recipe passed down for generations. You can tell the food is of the highest quality and that he has a lot of pride in his product. You will not be disappointed! P.S. portions are very generous which is something I really appreciate! We ordered a medium pizza and it looked like a large! Comfortably fed 2 very starving travelers 🍕 but could probably feed more!

This is truly a real pizzeria. Authentic pizza period. An old family recipe, made from scratch, hand tossed pizza pie. Cooked in a real oven, not in a pan on a conveyor belt. I ordered a medium sausage and pepperoni pie. OMG! It was soooo good! I have eaten here twice and I will be back again for sure.

I'm not the type to do this, this is the first review I've actually ever had to leave on any place, So it's pretty bad if I had to leave one. Our experience was horrible! The cheese tasted absolutely disgusting, not to mention that we tried calling this place for two weeks and it would just ring. Excited they finally answered, couldn't wait to try it. The cheese had a horrible flavor, after one bite it was obvious. Even left a bad AFTER taste. The dog wouldn't even eat it. Not sure what it was but the person that ate it with me had the same opinion. After $25 for this pizza we took two bites threw the whole pie away and went to eat somewhere else.

Pizza by the slice is a great option for someone traveling by themselves. For me, 5 stars is a place I can hardly wait to go back to, go to La Junta just for this place. 4 stars is a place I recommend and will eat there if I should find myself there again. The pizza is good.

Went by last night around 5:30 to get a couple pizzas with the kids..loved the atmosphere and the location..my family was greeted by the whole staff..ordered the meat lovers and the tomatoe basil large pizzas..they were huge! The basil was fresh and tasted like it was just picked..we loved the thin crust,delicious sauce,and the cheese..meat lovers was piled up and had thin crust just like I like it.. The shop was very well organized and the wait to get our pizzas was very short..bought a gift certificate for a friend so he and his family can go enjoy what we did.. What more can I say but say thank you for making our experience here at your establishment such a enjoyable one.. Friends spread the word about this establishment, stop by try a pizza or other thing on there menu---you wont be disappointed!! Shop and eat local!!!!!!

Our experience at Opera House Pizzeria was phenomenal! Jeff was the most amazing host, the staff was friendly and provided excellent service, and the food was outstanding!!! Order the Baja blast dream as a freeze and drink 3 different times and everytime they somehow add strawberry and refuse to fix it. So don’t order it from here. It’s literally on the menu outside and on the app with absolutely no strawberry.

Don't expect to get what you order and pay for. Asked for three supreme soft tacos with no lettuce and got what you see in the photos. Asked for Extra chicken on my quesadilla and only got a lot of extra cheese and some pieces of lettuce. Waste of time and money and I was in a hurry to get my kid from school so I couldn't go back and complain directly. Steer clear of this place.

The radio is so loud I can’t carry on a conversation, I’ve asked to turn it down and they refused, it took 21 minutes to get our order!

Over all it’s fine. But you don’t get greated by staff and trying to get staff to even notice you are in the store is like pulling teeth. It forces people to have to use the kiosk. The food is well the food which is not change. If I could I would give one start just based on the staff alone

My recent experience at this location was downright horrible. The dining area and food prep area were a total mess. They had two employees on break. The food wasn't prepared with care or fresh ingredients. This location has lost all soul to cater to its customers.

Ordered a chili cheese burrito and another burrito. What I got was cheese and sauce for the chili cheese burrito. Other one was decent but damn if you don't have something.... Tell the customer you don't have it instead of trying to make it up. Cause that's $10 I'm out. Also I don't understand why "a few milds" translate to TWO HANDFULS. staff needs to be retrained seriously....

This restaurant is the worst. Rude, inconsiderate, Incompetent, employees. I have never been so disrespected by fast food workers. They acted like they are entitled, and demanding. I refuse to spend my money on companies that enable bad behavior

I came here with my daughter (1.5 years old) during inclement weather. It was just myself and one other table which was a party of six or so. I ordered the most expensive steak on the menu but never really felt welcomed. The waitresses had to walk right past me to the other table, and they were given plenty of attention, while we were given the minimum. Multiple times they walked right past me and I attempted to get their attention without success. The steak was ok, thin but flavorful. When I ordered my potatoes, I was not told that adding cheese and sour cream was an up charge. Not happy with this experience.

My chicken dinner was fried to a crisp! I told the waitress and she said they could redo it, or I could order something else. I did not want to send it back, cause I have worked many years in the restaurant industry and I know that you never want to do that! So I hoped the inside of the chicken was ok, but no, it was raw! So when the waitress brought the bill that came to $94.00, I asked if I could get a discount, and she spoke very loud and rude to me! I told her fine, we just wouldn’t come back, then she offered to get the manager, We waited for awhile and he still hadn’t come, so I left a $100 bill on the table and we left. They definitely LOST A NEW CUSTOMER!!! AND USUALLY I TIP VERY, VERY GOOD!!!

Service was very good. The golfers had already left to play at a little after 12: 00. There were a total of 14 people in the restaurant including us. But it took over an hour to get our 2 hamburgers. Would definitely not recommend if you are rushed for time!

The experience was not a good one. Only good thing they brought my nephew’s food early. Then we waited forever for our food. The waitress was not responsive to us with out drink. My nephew dropped his she cleaned and then head had to wait for someone to get a new one? She went to the register looking at it for like 15 or 20 minutes. We got the other girls attention finally! We got there at around 530 we didn’t get our food until 630. My nephew was done eating … and we start eating our food! The money spent was not worth money spent or the service! The waitress was way more interested in the guys at the bar.. and was smiling at them! Should be only one bartender and one waitress. Seems they loose there minds when they should be helping a family and they we’re celebrating for a job. Was a long drive. And definitely not worth it. Won’t be back.. nice place..

We were a little shocked when this pizza place kept getting recommended to us, and its inside a gas station. I'm originally from NY so that just never seemed like the right way to get pizza... boy was I wrong! It is SO GOOD!! Everyone in the family liked it and I'm sure we'll be back again. Pizza is usually great. Cheeseburger pizza is usually the best. Today was the exception. All 3 pies were awful on Aug. 15. No sauce, burned toppings, wrong toppings, not good at all. Called the store, they were apologetic. Offered free pizza but I'm 40 miles away.

Godfather's Pizza in the Love's gas station/convenience store in La Junta, CO. has the best darn pizza in town. Their cheese and high quality toppings are distinctive enough to inspire you to choose them, every time you crave pizza. The pizza is good and $8 for take and bake is a good price. The convenience store part of the establishment is ridiculously overpriced!! I spent $45 for two pizzas, a couple drinks and a few snacks!

My wife and I have been to this restaurant in the past. However, this time not so good, I had the New York strip, it was a little gristly, when the waitress asked me, how was my food? I said a little gristly, she said, I'll let them know when the owner/manager asked me how was my food? I said, a little grisly, she gave me the same blow me off attitude. My wife got the white fish with shrimp and vegetables. again. Not very good if we wanted Walmart food. We would have went to our freezer and not paid twice the amount. They did not even take the time to clean the tops of the condiment bottles dried condiment around the edges. Why ask me if everything is okay if you're not going to do anything about it. We will not be going back. P.S. No the comments about these poor reviews from management is telling, don't you think.

It was fine. I ordered a rare 12 oz sirloin. Steak came out medium-well. I'm pretty sure the steak was actually a piece of a pot roast that was just cooked like a steak. Mac and cheese is TV dinner quality. It's like Bob Evans straight from the package. But they're not charging top dollar either. So that's why I say it was fine. I'm not upset about it, but it was only an okay value.

Wow. I live in CA now and was in La Junta for business. I’ve eaten here both nights that I’ve been in town so far, and I’ll be back tomorrow night. The value here was only surpassed by the quality of my ribeye steak (and was cooked perfectly!) I recommend the grilled onions and mushrooms. I sat at the bar and the young woman that had served me made my experience that much finer! I’m picky. I’m SUPER picky about steaks out at dinner (I make excellent ones at home) and I highly highly recommend The Steakhouse over the other local spots here in La Junta.

I hate to leave bad reviews, and I am a pretty easy person to please but I feel compelled to share feedback. We stayed at the Hampton and walked over for dinner; the steakhouse is in a convenient location. The place looks dreary, but we are okay with that, we are from a small town and understand how small town restaurants can go with decor. The salads were tiny and only iceberg lettuce, 3 slices of cucumber and a few cherry tomatoes with what looked like expired and cheap salad dressing. The fries looked like Ore Ida crinkle fries you get from Safeway; still those things are not the biggest issue if you have a good steak. But the steak was rubbery and tough. I had a sirloin and my boyfriend had a ribeye. His ribeye was worse than mine but both were awful; he said he thought his tasted like it was dunked in canola oil before cooking, it left a weird aftertaste and the texture was funky. Also, you can only get a beer or a shot mixed with a soda for alcoholic drinks. It surely did not feel worth the $100 for 2 adults and one child. Bummer.

Delicious! We were staying next door at the hotel and walked over for a fantastic steak dinner. The ribeye melted in your mouth and the baked potatoe was cooked to perfection. All of their beef is sourced from local ranches and you can certainly taste the quality. Highly recommend!!

Don't let this place fool you, the outside may not look like much. But the steak portions are generous, and the prices are very low. Everything was tasty. I have no complaints. If you are staying at the nearby the econolodge, you even get a little bit of a discount.

Great pizza quick with friendly staff! Two employees saw us stuck in the parking lot with our trailer and helped us back out and leave. Amazing people!

Within our delivery order, inside the paper sack containing the drinks we ordered was a freezer bag containing three pieces of pizza. One of the pieces had been partially eaten. The pizza inside the bag was not frozen. The delivery was quick and all our ordered items were good. However, getting a freezer bag with someone else’s pizza (partially eaten) was a concern.

I just ordered 2 medium stuffed crust pizzas one pepperoni one sausage for the 1st time and the "5 stars" says it all, Thank you

Update 2023: Better. Food was not burned, cooked as specified. Pizza was delicious and the lava cakes were excellent. Much improved Ordered 3 pizzas all of them are burned and dry. Ordered extra sauce on one and there was barely any sauce on it. Both of the thin crusts I ordered barely had sauce on them if at all. No one was wearing masks either.

Had pizza delivered. Really delicious. Simple pepperoni and pepperoncinis on thin crust. Will definitely get more Domino's Pizza.

Been wanting to try this place, and was so excited tonight when I won a free pizza! Pizza was hot with fresh ingredients, and a perfectly cooked crust. Everyone was friendly and it seemed like the orders kept rolling in, even so close to closing time, nobody was turned away. Will be back again! Thank you Michael's Pizzeria! My kid stole a slice before I could get a pic of the whole pie.

First of all Michael is a class act entrepreneur, charmingly friendly and gives his restaurant a very personal touch as he delivers the pizza he makes himself. The crust is as close to authentic New York as I’ve ever gotten outside of NY itself. We’ve tried most of the selection and they’re all phenomenal. Our favorites are the simple creations like the margarita which has a perfect blend of tomatoes and cheese with pungent fresh basil on top, incredible! Today I got an old favorite of mine with pepperoni and mushroom, and added lumbre chilis which are hotter than most white folk can handle, it was truly glorious! They’re by-the-slice options are great too. not the speediest food option but worth the wait and you can call ahead and order whole or combinations. Entire staff is wonderful and helpful.

This place is an utter gem. Having moved to Colorado ~5 years ago from the northeast, one of the things we've missed most is good pizza. We've tried so many places in Colorado (and in the West more broadly) and nothing has come close to a good New Haven or New York pie. Michael's, however, is an exception. This place is a serious sleeper in terms of pizza quality. It is completely unassuming and has no frills, yet has some of the best pizza we've eaten, just like the best places back home. We like to head to this area from time to time for the interesting history and nature and didn't think much of randomly choosing Michael's for dinner on our way to Comanche National Grassland. Michael's turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. This pizza is seriously good! It's the best we've found in this part of the country and was a complete shock to us. Michael's, whatever you are doing, please keep doing it! You're now our mandatory pit stop for this part of Colorado and we sincerely hope you are getting the local support that you absolutely deserve.

Pizza was great. We got half and half nichole and bbq pizza. Both fantastic. Also got garlic knots which were great. Staff was very nice and accommodating as well. If I ever come back through La Junta, I'll definitely come back!

All three of us agreed that this is the absolute best pizza and cheesebread we have ever had. It was a bit of a wait, but we used the time to walk around and check out the historic sites nearby. Fun little selfie wall inside lol

We are traveling from out of town and wanted to try a locally owned restaurant. We came across this pizzeria and are so glad we stopped. It’s on the main road and the service was amazing! Everyone was so nice and the food was amazing! They even came out and talked to us and gave us a souvenir magnet when they found out we were traveling! Will 100% recommend! Great food! Great atmosphere!

The floors are broken and dirty, have a look when you go in. There is a burnt smell that will not leave the place, have a smell when you go in. If you look at the pictures of the menu and read the description of the meatlover pizza it describes a BBQ chicken pizza. Michael doesn't know how to read an order back to the customer. $78 for 3 pizzas when I only ordered 2. This place probably won't be around next year. Michael should be ashamed of himself speaking to customers like a moron on the phone. Remember you were given the chance to run a pizza restaurant just like you always wanted and this is how you treat the brethren! This business is going bankrupt.
