The food did not live up to the view. I’m not saying the food was bad. It was just OK and at that price I expect more than OK. I tasted more garlic on the shrimp than the shrimp and I tasted no coconut in the rice now the view is gob, smacking beautiful specially if you can make it for the sunset so maybe I just recommend going to the bar and watching the sunset. The staff was very attentive and nice and the building is very beautiful but the view.!

We had booked for the dhow dinner a group of 4 friends dressed in white. We had a wonderful experience. The food was out of this world delicious, well presentable, the atmosphere great, service great. Boniface was a great and good server. The dawa wow, garlic bread and soup. Salad, main course, dessert and coffee and halau/halfway. This was a life time experience I will never forget. The band had great music we danced the night away. The dhow had patrons from different parts of the world. We got together and we danced sang and enjoyed ourselves. The crew were wonderful people. The captain introduced himself to the patrons, table by table. It was a beautiful and memorable evening. It was a 4hr dhow dinner tour. I will definitely came back.

Excellent service, food. The view is beautiful. When there for early dinner and enjoyed sunset. It is on the expensive side, but worth it. The portions are really big, or at least they were for me - I wasn’t able to finish

Its an absolute top restaurant in Mombasa. Wide choice of seafood and more. Good riverside vibe. Great service. Regarding the seafood they have a lot to learn from Japanease or French but still five star.

We had a wonderful meal here. There are awesome views of the old harbour. The food was wonderful and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Will definitely be back next year.

Food was great I got the grilled lobster and it tasted really good with the lemon butter. Free garlic bread, chips (crisps) and peanuts, great lava cake. Service was good, but not extraordinary. Nice atmosphere next to ocean, bathroom has air conditioning. Overall 5 stars

Beautiful ambience, amazing work they have done with the place and very relaxing indeed. The food was good. The service was okay but could be better especially with promptness to customer requests.

First of all, there's mandhi in the menu which they do not offer. The first waitress brought us the menu then pretended she did not see us when we signalled we were ready to order. The fish fingers did not taste like fish at all. It was moist on the inside and tasted only of spices. The fries were pretty bland. The mutton curry also had lots of spices that did not mix very well. Tasted like uncooked spice. The straws that came with the drinks were a bit too big. The weather was chilly so if you're going in the evening carry a light sweater. The milkshake and buttered naan were good. Pina colada is also good. Pretty place but overall bad service and poor food.

The scenery is beautiful, breeze is heavenly in a hot day and the servers are very nice. Unfortunately though, I did not get to try the food as they only start to cook around 1:30 to 1:45 on Fridays due to some Muslim prayers and I need to leave at 2pm for my old town tour. Would love to try if I can come back tho

Forodhani Restaurant was such a wonderful stop during my time in Mombasa. Great ambience, views and food. The cool breeze makes it a wonderful place to enjoy a sumptuous meal. Install handwash basin/sink in the restaurant instead of guests having to go to wash hands in the toilets.

View is so cute, we just had breakfast but was tasty. Only they start a bit late and things get a bit slow motion..

Nice little spot. Definitely the best one in the area. However don’t expect much, there are only a few dishes and drinks. We took the snack platter and while it stated 9 types of food, there were only 5. The cardamom coffee was exceptional and the juice was also delicious! Not a bad place to stop on your way to Fort Jesus.

A nice place to stop for a cup of tea or coffee in the old town. The atmosphere is calm and the decor is nice. We didn't have food, but the samosas looked good. We were able to pay with credit card

Cafesserie offers delicious & fresh food and great service! There is both indoor and outdoor sitting, as well as a smoking designated area. Love the lemon mint drink on a hot summer day! They also offer good quality icecream.

I was so happy to find Cafesserie while visiting Nyali Beach. They had all my favorites—fresh salads, salmon, and a delicious cappuccino with oat milk. The tropical atmosphere with greenery and a nice breeze made it extra special. And the tiramisu? Absolutely the best! Located in a mall with other great stores, I found myself coming back several times. Highly recommend!

I was told that Yul’s is the place to be on the beach, and being my first visit to the Indian Ocean, I probably expected too much. The spot has clearly seen better days and feels quite touristy, with camels lined up for rides and piles of souvenirs cluttering the beach—not exactly inviting for a swim. That said, the restaurant itself is clean and organized, with a decent-looking menu (though overpriced for Mombasa). The pizza was good, and the staff friendly, but service felt a bit unmotivated. A nice one-time experience, but I’m definitely curious to see what else the coast has to offer.

Ticking Yul's Aerodrome has been on my bucket list for a while now and I'm glad it met my expectations. I must admit the restaurant is a legacy place based on the quality of the infrastructure. It's been there for a while. A view by the beach with a breeze as you enjoy your meal ? Sold! The service was prompt and I enjoyed the ice cream 🍦 Looking forward to the next one!

We had a great time, lovely spot for food and ocean vibes. We enjoyed our delicious food and drinks while feeling the cool ocean breeze. The pizza was fantastic — thin, crispy, and packed with flavor. The beach is beautiful, though it had quite a bit of seaweed when we visited, and it felt a bit busy with vendors and camel rides set up along the shore. It can feel slightly overwhelming if you’re looking for a peaceful beach moment, but it adds to the local charm in its own way. Gets very busy after 1pm. We arrived around 11:30am and stayed for at least 4 hours. We were recommended this spot by family who live here, and we’re glad we came. Much love from Canada!

I know Yul‘s since 30 year‘s when he started. And since 30 year‘s Yul is keeping the german quality in his restaurants. I know Robert’s, Moorings, Nico, Tamarind, The Marina and other restaurants in Mombasa which are already closed due to loosing quality. But only one is keeping his high quality. The pizza is better than Robert’s (I was really upset about the quality there now and do not understand the Hype for that restaurant) and Nico, the Burgers are without competition and always fresh made grounded meat. The avocado prawns are the best and Tamarind cannot compete against Yul’s seafood dishes. The dishes is outstanding and German standard. This is the only restaurant which keeps is standard over year’s and even Yul is not there. I have been here this week several times as I did holidays in August and will come back in December for fishing. Thanks for Daniel for the good service at the table. I would give 6 stars for this restaurant if possible. You need to try out also the cocktails. Thanks for great food here. the fisherman By the way, the have the best ice cream in Kenia.

It is important to note, however, that the senior waitress demonstrated exceptional service by promptly replacing a spilt drink without hesitation.

On vacation and drugged my siblings for some nice icecream at Yuls. They had wanted to go elsewhere but I remember really enjoying myself. We had icecream and my brother had a vanilla milkshake which was more like a fresh cream milkshake! Something was off. How are we all sick! The deep fried calamari was horrible - too much flour coating.

Had a nice experience at Shehnai! The food was tasty and the service was great too. You can tell they put effort into the flavors and presentation. My only letdown was the portion size — for the price, I was hoping for a bit more on the plate. Still, a lovely spot if you're after quality, just be ready for lighter portions.

This restaurant truly deserves more than 5stars from the friendly staff to the management taking care of you every step of your meal ,the menu has lots of varieties and excellent vegetarian options ,the potions are out of this world when i tell you breakfast was the last meal i had and i couldn’t finish my meal ,the soft Indian music transports you to another place as you enjoy your food The meal i had was recommended to me by the staff and my god the lamb was soft ,juicy and tender every single spoon you take bursts with flavour i asked for medium spicy and i got medium spicy the desert just hit the right spot not overly sweet and if you are in Mombassa visit shehnai restaurant and you will love it whether you are dining alone or with friends this is the place to go from my observation for couples the restaurant is a great date night spot my overall experience was great the food wait time was small and i had a good time surely will be back thank you (Note:If you want cant finish your meal ask and it will be neatly packed for you )

Shehnai is hands down one of the best restaurants in Mombasa! Their butter chicken is rich, creamy, and full of flavor easily one of the best I’ve ever had. The paneer tikka is cooked to perfection, smoky yet tender, and the corn curry is a hidden gem that keeps you coming back for more. If you’re looking for authentic taste, excellent service, and a memorable dining experience, Shehnai is the place to be. Highly recommended!

Not what it was 30 years ago rubbery chicken tikka and butter chicken scrappy pieces small portion, waiter was good and the family very polite as usual. If the father could come back and eat here he would probably be very disappointed in the quality of the food. (Watch out for bill was not expecting hidden charges.) Location is now in a garage. They are closed on monday. So i went there on tuesday. My reception was great and the welcomed me with greetings and smile. In entrance i saw a lot of certificates hanged on the wall which this restaurant received as an award by recognized travle companies around the world. Like hospitality industry, tripadvisor, other safari and tourism bodies and they looked amazing to me. Interior is very nice and they serve people onntable ala karte. Due to covid 19 siguation i did not found other customers othar than me at that time. The waiter brought mene card and i started reading, more than 100 different varity of dishes were listed on that card and price was reasonable. Most of the food items were from asian cuisine and i requested for hyderabadi biryani. The manager suggested me to order one of their best biryani called swahili biryani and i accepted the offer. Both costed the same. After waiting for 15 minutes they served me biryani with coca cola, chutnyies and curd. I asked for spicy biryani and they did meet my requirement. I liked the taste of it so much that i decided to write this review. I enjoyed instrumental music in the background and liked the ambiance of the dining hall. The painings of old times touched me and antique collection it items mesmerized me. This restaurant met my expectation and like to visit them again. I requested for bill and they brought mouth freshener with vill. I felt very happy about this lunch. Thanks team shahnai.

When I walked through Old Mombasa on Sunday with a guide, I was told that the Blue Room is one of the oldest restaurants in town, supposedly founded in 1951. I went there for lunch, and today it feels more like a modern bar and cafeteria with an international menu. I enjoyed the coconut chicken. Definitely a good spot in bubbling downtown Mombasa.

The restaurant has extremely warm stuff members. They are fast in their services and the place offers really nice food (freshly cooked on order). The price ranges from mid to high but the food portions make you see the worth for your money. Although the restaurant is busy it is not noisy. I really enjoyed the ambience. The Galaxy Chinese Restaurant is located above the former Florida Nightclub and offers an interesting view of the Mombasa harbor entrance. The manager greeted us very friendly, and the service was attentive. The food was delicious and varied. In conclusion, it's definitely worth a visit.

This is a perfect spot for Nyama Choma lovers. Enjoy the beach views and ocean breeze here. No goat meat though. They say their meat is roasted over charcoal (Char <coal> Choma). On the outdoors, they have nice swinging chairs. Each sitting area has a power socket to charge your phone or laptop. The waiters and waitresses are very friendly and helpful. A supervisor checks in often to know if you are ok. Has small kids play area and swimming pool. You can walk in order food and walk to the beach as your food is prepared. Cool live band performance during the evenings. In short, it is a beach bar that is family friendly during the day and great for party goers in the night.

I like their system of picking the variety of meats from chicken, pork to prawns, lobster. They then prepare the assortment which for us took about 40 minutes. It was worth the wait. Freshly cooked food any day. My only issue was the wait for our drinks. All in all Char Choma was a good experience.

We didn't stay in the hotel, but came here 4 times in 1 week as the ambiance, vibe, staff and food are all excellent and value for money. European and Kenyan friendly. Great views by the beach, pools and lots of space as well as a great play area watched by staff for the kids, also a regular live band. Mombasa at its best. Thanks all for 4 x a great time.

Waiters and staff are kind and professional.You can order tour meat, gave it weighted and cooked at the moment. I'm going 2 times a week with my family, never been disappointed.

Decided to come and check Roberto's restaurant today and was glad I did. The service was great and attentive. Food was also excellent, I went with the seafood pasta, and was yummy. Also great addition to have condiments on the side like chilli, garlic etc. really was good. I will definitely try a pizza next time as I seen some come from the kitchen and smelt and looked amazing. I want to thank the waiters as they gave great service and very professional. It's a shame as the table next to me were quite rude to one of the waiters and i hate to see things like this but shows how professional they are. Thank you and will be visiting again.

the service here is terrible food isnt bad good pizza compared to other shops in mombasa but as a tourist i bought my in laws here and was thrown out due to bringing my own drink although they do sell their own drinks my wife can only drink minute maid when id asked if they sold the same drink here they said no i was then told they can outsource the same drink from a neighbouring supermarket but at a price which was 3.5x what id paid for it i was then told i can eat in my car if id liked but as soon as i said id do that the waiters and manager had started giving me very dirty looks im appalled by the service in this restaurant and i wont be coming back.

Absolutely fantastic Italian cuisine! Their minestrone soup is mouth-watering, and pizzas are authentic. The garlic bread and lasagne were executed perfectly, overall delicious food, and moderately priced. The interior decoration of the restaurant is beautiful. My only complaint is the parking lot, it doesn't go around the restaurant so manoeuvring when it's full is somewhat of a headache.

I’ve never liked the attitude of the staff there, once they refused to believe that their truffle is bad and we had to as a group say that if everyone of us is feeling that food has gone bad they can’t refuse. I’m not a fan of this place anyway. But their ravioli is good.

Honestly the best Italian I’ve had in Kenya, thus far! The service was great, and the food absolutely delicious. I even went back the following day for lunch. The seafood is fresh, and ice cream made in house. Would definitely recommend.

I liked the place, very solid. For value, it’s a 5 star. Plenty of food for 800 KES (depends on which one dish you order). The mango juice? A bit sweet but 5 star for only 100-150 KES. The sugar fried donut thing is a 3.5 star. Enjoyable but nothing special but if I could have it fresh, maybe 4 star. The beef dish? Value — 5 star. It had 2 large chunks of beef, boiled egg, 2 potatoes, and plenty of rice with a spaghetti meat sauce. I didn’t like the flavor profile (3 star) and the beef was tough/dry (3 star). Overall for this dish is 4 star. Would I come here again? Sure. I like it. Lots of locals. I only came once so it has promise to be better than my 4 star. Regardless, I recommend this place for value. Enjoy. Ps. After eating here, there’s a 50% chance I had mild food poisoning. I didn’t need to throw up but I had use the number 2 three times that night and thrice more in the morning. Then twice more later that day in the afternoon and evening. Old food takes 24 hours to really hit but it took six hours for me and again two hours after that. I can’t blame them completely bc maybe my stomach isn’t geared towards their cuisine so still a 4 star.

I am a big fan of biryani Again by virtue of the fact that I have married a woman from Mombasa, I can never have enough of rice dishes. The very first time I visited Tarboush I was quite reluctant to make my order for fears of a bill that would cost an arm and leg Contrary to my woes, this place is way manageable, in fact the potion you receive for the price I paid for mutton biryani is unbelievable. The juice also comes in various flavours and is all fresh and soothing. The staff, I can't forget one by the name Rama, pardon my manners I left without tipping today, I owe you one. I've tried fish biryani and it was finger licking. I wish to know if it's possible to open such a joint in Nairobi please.

I can tell through out the positive reviews are all not locals of Mombasa. As born coastal, their shawarma was the worst ever. No marination, not even some salt, u could not differentiate btwn the shawrma meat from the bread. Just flat and tasteless. The saucers were cleaned with water but dried by dirty cloth living dirty marks. Masala chips felt like lime 🍋‍🟩 all the way. Food Price was so high while quality was so low. It's not what it used to be, mayb change of management or luck of affording good Chef's. I do not recommend anyone for now!

If you’re craving authentic Swahili dishes, this is the place! I always have their flavourful and aromatic chicken biryani, with just the right balance of spices. My friend’s mutton biryani was tender meat and perfectly cooked rice. The restaurant’s location in Mombasa CBD adds to the charm, perfect vibes and the service is always excellent. Felix deserves a special mention for his friendly tips on the day’s specials and what dishes pair best together.

I had such a lovely time here. From the time you walk in, you just feel well taken care of. Their menu is extensive, so you have so much to choose from. I went for the live cooking experience, where the chef cooked for you as you watched. Everything made was delicious. Would totally recommend.

We came here on a Monday night. Although the place didn’t have many customers at that time, the experience was a great one. Magical Breezes blowing through the open seating area. Great food and service. They great you with a little drum routine. Well recommended.

Very good Japanese restaurant with Sake, and all inclusive course meal for around 4200ksh. with Japanese characteristics with Suchi, and you can ask a course without raw food and you'll be served.

We went there with the expectation to have nice Japanese food but it was awful…. Put too much soya sauce and salt and ended up leaving the food. Not at all a good experience. Wish had went to nearby Tapas which had delicious food.

The ambiance was exactly what I needed on a chilled Thursday evening. Misono is decorated in chic old Japanese decor featuring little fountains and a pond outside. The service was phenomenal, the waiter greeted us with a smile and explained every single dish as well recommendations. Waiting time was 10 minutes but it was totally worth it! The sushi was fresh and delightful. I’d definitely recommend! Can’t wait to visit again. Definitely the best place to have sushi in Mombasa.

Not bad at all for hotel buffet food. Good selection and good quality live stations from lobster and lamb chops to pasta and so on. There is also an A la carte section where you can order from the menu. Good service and atmosphere.

On this particular Wednesday, I wasn’t as impressed with the buffet selection. Felt like the other neighbouring hotel line-ups. The servers at the stations also seemed disinterested in serving with a smile and some zeal. Still, the quality of the food was decent and the hotel itself well maintained.

I am a seafood fan- and I cannot recommend this place enough!!! So tasty, we had the seafood ravioli and Zanzibar soup and they both were so delicious! The soup had hints of spice which I absolutely loved. We then had the Swahili style prawns and Crab with their fresh jasmine rice which was absolutely to die for! All along with the best white wine from South Africa, the ambience is obviously great and so is the staff! Erick was so friendly and just the sweetest! Loved this place and will DEFINiTELY come back !!

Great ambiance..it's a little pricey but portions are good, from the starters to the main dish. Nice for couple date, girls night out. Eric was very pleasant.

Our server Erick Mmera, was very friendly and helpful, my fillet mignon was very tasty, my husband enjoyed his prawns.

Amazing food and amazing staff

My visit to La marina was frustrating and disappointing. Despite arriving on time, we waited over three hours, and our food was never served. Worse, there was no explanation or attempt to resolve the situation from the staff. What made it even more upsetting was the noticeable difference in service. White patrons were attended to promptly, while we were ignored. No amount of ambiance can make up for such poor treatment. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking fair and respectful service.

I am a local... I use to eat here almost every Sunday... but its my first time for a while and the standard has dropped to an all time low... the steak I had was half the size and the spare ribbs my lady had went home to the dog.... they were so hard... the chef uses the hard skin from the cucumber on the salads...so pick that off and put it in the bin like we do at home... was a real disappointment... 1000ksh for a 230ksh carton of juice....out of their tiny minds... its no longer a place to eat but still a lovely place to have a drink in a beautiful setting....The table clothe had a 3 inch by 3 inch tear in it... right on top ...what standards are these.... they are very low standards...no one cares...poor show

Otherwise the atmosphere and the service were excellent. My man and I visited here on a late Sunday morning. He had a salad and black coffee. The coffee was brewed to excellence. The salad was soo fresh and so my man had a lovely time. I on the other hand ordered a hazelnut milkshake and chocolate cake with vanilla ice-cream. The shake looks good until you taste it and it was like brookside flavoured milk. And they didn't have the cake. So I left disappointed. That's why we give it a 4 ⭐.

It's a good place... Nice geographical location you get the view of the ocean but they could really boost a notch with the service. Moderate customer service the waiters always seem to be pre occupied with something else.

I came for the oysters and was the first guest. Greeting was nice. Can I take your order? Relax. Enjoy the journey.. I’ll provide you a towel to refresh. The owner who runs the place for thirty years asked me in which Hotel I stay? The meal finishes with a bowl of lemon water for cleaning.

Food quality as low as the view is great. Third class food at first class rate. Icecream was dissapointing, pina colada without coconut taste. Old fish and thin steak... looked like a torn plastic bag. The male owner did not appreciate that being pointed out and became rude and aggressive. Very dissapointing.

The view is absolutely stunning – a perfect spot to enjoy a meal with a breathtaking ocean backdrop. The service was excellent, attentive and friendly. Just keep in mind that you're also paying for the incredible scenery, so prices are on the higher side. Worth it for a special occasion or if you're looking to treat yourself!

We discovered Sea Haven just by coincidence. What a gem it is. Located on a cliff, you get to enjoy amazing views of the vast Indian Ocean and the old city of Mombasa. We are sea food lovers and this was a sea food heaven! Lobsters, crabs, king prawns, squids, octopus and even the delicious Kenyan Oysters (didn't even know there are oysters in Kenya!) all prepared to your liking. The service is very attentive. Roy the owner does a good job of making every guest feel special. I hope this place will be there for a long time because it beats them all. Oh I forgot to mention the prices. The best value for money we've ever had.

Excellent location! It’s on the pricier side, but it’s worth it. The seafood soup was excellent. We also tried the fish curry (red snapper) with rice which was so good that we asked for a second serving of rice. Bummer was that their card machine wouldn’t work, they wouldn’t accept USD and we had to use multiple forms to make the payment - I wish they had made that clear ahead of time.

Located on top of a very scenic cliff, right by the beach. The view is stunning, and the deep fried prawns are to die for! The owners are really friendly and even gave us a tour and told us the history of the property. I'll definitely be going back.

It has a good environment which allows all customers to relax in peace or enjoy the noise depending on the seating area. Has a homely feel as they Africanize the seating areas. Lastly it has amazing food which would always come on time and fair pricing.

Loved how this place works, book out an open air hut or ‘banda’ and feel free to cook whatever you want or order off the menu. Enjoyed sitting around the jiko and cooking off some chicken, ingredients and utensils were provided. Ordered some badass masala prawns as well. Karoga times are good times!

The best Italian food I’ve had in a long time Note timings : only breakfast and lunch - no dinner - 4.30 pm restaurant closes so plan accordingly The entry to this restaurant is via Jumba ruins , if you do not wish to visit the ruins , at the counter ask to be sent to restaurant directly and they will guide you , no need to pay entry to the ruins. We couldn't have chosen a better place to enjoy a load of delicious seafood at a reasonable price. The views of the ocean are stunning and pair perfectly with the great food. Just be aware that the restaurant is only open for lunch (opening hours of the ruins). Thank you for the great reception.

Is a uique atmosphere! Directly on te beach, at side of ancient historical Arab/Swahili site, the Monsoons Restaurant is pearl for divine foods, fresh lobsters and cold Prosecco wine! Don't forgot to drink the white wine produced them self from Mr Attilio and Madame Aziza' s grapes plantation!

The food is lovely and it feels like a vacation every time we go—my favorite restaurant on the Coast—Every dish I have tried is delicious and fresh. There is a lovely assortment of wine. The beach is beautiful and the breeze from the water makes this lovely restaurant a blissful escape. It’s a place that feels like home and a vacation all at the same time. Come and relax and enjoy this gem along the Kenyan coast.

For me, this is the best restaurant i know of. I've been working with food, in several continents, for 40 years. And Monsoon have been my favourite since the first bite. It's not fancy. It's not fine dining. It's not snobby in any way. It's simply great food, without fancy techniques and presentations. Great ingredients, prepared to the ultimate perfection. The opposite of cheap ingredients with glamorous presentation, as you get in Kempinsky and others. The atmosphere is very friendly and totally relaxed. With a great scenery and view of the beach and ocean. A bumpy road is immediately forgotten when you get there. And some minutes walk trough the Jumba ruins is a nice experience on top of it all. I highly recommend Monsoon. Either it's for a family dinner, a romantic lunch date, or if you're simply just a lover of great food.

A treasure to find this wonderfull restaurant the food was excellent and the view of the Indian Ocean of course the King Prawns were fresh and sublime, starters were huge and the catch if the day was perfectly cooked, the service was also above and beyond , I would recommend you search it out even if there is a long bumpy road. Food took over an hour, and we also changed 3 tables because we were a large group and wanted to be comfortable. The chairs are super uncomfortable. Food was average. The chicken liver was pretty good.

I like Indian food... here. The food here is great, if spicy is your thing as well as curry. I'm mostly here for the curry because its bloody delicious and with some Naan on the side, it's a "curry munchers" dream dish. I'd mostly recommend the Chicken Masala (Boneless) or Butter chicken (boneless) served with buttered Naan and/or rice. The food is great, service is... okay-ish. The food will get to you in time, if hopefully you went in where there were little to no customers in apart from you. I will warn you to be on the lookout for the usual flies that may make their way in, to ruin the sanctity of the restaurant. The decor of the restaurant is traditional albeit outdated, but in contrast to the cuisine they specialize in. Oh and there is more than just the usual curry here, as they do serve a variety of different dishes.

As a child this was my brother's and my favorite place to eat tasty food. We lived opposite Singh restaurant and it was a Sunday treat for us. We would hardly eat one chapati at home but when we came to Singh restaurant we'd eat at least 2/3 and those were really big chapatis with the best egg curry and the chicken curry (we never ate the chicken just the sauce! 🤣) I am so sad to hear about the closing of my childhood favourite restaurant.

Authentic Punjabi Food & North Indian Delicacies. Good Portions of Food served along with UnLimited Traditional Chapati Roti flame fried (the way a Roti is supposed to be.) Ate here twice a day Daily for a week coz the menu is huge. Highly recommended is their BONELESS MUTTON BIRYANI.

Had the cordon bleu with mashed potatoes. Came with some amazing vege salad;cabbage, onion and tomato and i believe some lemon/sour dressing. The food was okay, nothing memorable but i enjoyed it. Also, cordon bleu is cheesy pork. Service was slow and passive. No help with the menu which was mostly in a language foreign to me. The ambience of the place gives kibandaski vibes; not in a good way.

Had not been there for a very long time. Different owner now, I was told. Food is still good and nicely priced. Same for drinks. I was there on a Friday evening, when there was a live band playing. Not crazy loud, as is common in Kenya 😆. Wakenya wanapenda makelele. There was a eh... choice of female companionship, but I had brought my own.

A journey into the past (in a positive sense) For dinner at the Safari inn. After 18 years for the first time. Time seems to have stood still and that is meant in a positive way. Rudi, the Swiss owner still makes his rounds every evening and greets the guests personally. Surprisingly, he recognized me after all these years and we exchanged a few words. The food is plentiful and of very good quality. It ranges from Swiss cuisine (various kinds of homemade Rösti) to typical German (various Schnitzel) to local cuisine and seafood. I had the seafood plate for 2700 ksh and would have gladly paid more. In addition, a few beers and it was an all-around successful evening, which I will certainly repeat more often.

Jahazi is a great restaurant for seafood lovers! The service and food are amazing! As a guest of Serena you get 1000 shillings off your food bill at Jahazi grill. It’s a small restaurant right at the beachfront, with a calming breeze especially on hot afternoons. The food prices are fair, $35 dollars Will get you a main course. Please ask for the seafood chowder as a starter, full of wonderful spices and coconut milk. I can’t wait to visit again.

They have the best seafood in Mombasa. The service is also soo excellent. We went the three course way and we had complimentaries in btwn like a sorbet and prawns all on the house. The waiters are really knowleadgeble in the meals and can explain how each is prepared!

Perfect prescription for a seafood fan in a sandy dhow-like setting with very friendly staff. The amuse bouche, seafood chowder, Jahazi platter among other dishes are a must-try. The smoked salmon butter, a first for me, was a winner. Thank you guys!

The best seafood in North Coast! This is one of the best kept secrets by Serena Hotel, Mombasa. Jahazi means dhow in Swahili and the restaurant is in the form of a dhow. The service is attentive and the food excellent. The crab cakes are delicious as is the seafood chowder which are the house renowned starters. For the main course, the calamari or the crab thermidor if you like seafood or the lamb chops for the meat eaters! Nothing will disappoint here. This is a place to bookmark for seafood at the coast. Beware prices are on the very high side..

The restaurant located right next to the beach in Serena hotel. I felt the seafood platter was not worth the price and it took a while for my food to arrive. But still this restaurant is the best one around this area.

Near Nyali Centre, I found a real pub—with draft Tusker, some football on TV, and last night even karaoke. (I didn’t quite get why it was in teh beginng U.S. country music, but oh well...) It’s a cool bar, and I’ll definitely be back to catch some games. I did not try the food.

The music can be a little loud, but I've tried a few dishes here and it's great. Service is prompt and courteous. Food is always fresh the drinks are great. I think I came here like four nights straight.

For was good 24 hr kitchen. Cocktails reasonably priced. Tried to get falafel on two different occasions they seem to not keep it stocked. Seat very uncomfortable all barstool like and no regular chairs/ tables. Staff was really nice and attentive.

Wonderful place, nice crowd, music was on point and the dj was lit. It's a cool place to chill even if you want to go out at 4pm till late. The crowd is amazing and civilised. Probably no chance of meeting rowdy drunkards. It's also located in a mall so you could do some shopping during the day. They have bites and draft beers.

Barka, once my absolute favorite, has sadly declined. Their prices no longer match the quality, which has significantly decreased. Hygiene is also a concern. With so much competition, a major revamp is needed. The masala chips I recently had were far inferior (and more expensive) than those at other restaurants. Even their breakfast, which I used to love, was awful. This isn't an attack, Barka, but a plea to improve. I've always loved your restaurant and hope you can bring the quality back up to where it was. Currently, I'm very disappointed.

Huge location with some options. They don’t have a menu, which makes you afraid of being scammed 😹 but the food has a decent price, and good taste for the price.

The Chicken Biriani is really tasty. Portions are very generous. I wish I could eat more, keep washing it down with the sugar cane juice with a hint of ginger and lemon.

The food was amazing. Had the meat lasagna and hawaiiana pizza. The lasagna was well flavored. The pizza was amazing….perfect toppings and crust. They gave us a starter too…. Our waiter was kinda passive and non engaging but yk the food made up for this.

I've been here many times the last 18 months. The food was better a year ago. Still has okay quality. The oysters are untouchable. First time ever a tried pizza in Kenya. I'm not very impressed. Compare Italy and Sweden, who makes the best pizza on the planet - my personal opinion! Good and nice service. But the kitchen need to step up again🙏🙏 Ill come back

We'd gone here with the Family for a Birthday party. The View is simply Gorgeous! The Atmosphere was surprisingly calm and peaceful. The food was so very Delectable. The dishes are on the Pricier side but you definitely get what you pay for. The service was wonderful, our waiter came by ever so often to check if we were properly situated and comfy. The wait for our meal(s) was not as bad as expected. The only negative thing I experienced here, was the sheer number of flies lingering around, we had to "shoo" them away every thirty seconds to enjoy the food. Other than this one hiccup, this place is a 9/10. Definitely a must come to enjoy yourself. Oh, and you can go down to the beach too, there were two tables with two seats each to relax on the beach 😁. I do plan to come back here. - Rose

Just had another evening at La casa and honestly it’s the vibes for me. The food’s decent I give it a solid 7/10 . it hits the spot don’t get me wrong but personally I think they can do better. Now let’s talk about the real MVP,, the views and the ambiance a solid 100/10 I give it.. you’re by the beach, the wind’s doing it’s thing and that restaurant view? Unreal. So if you’re all about aesthetic summer vibes and instagram worthy restaurants, this is the perfect spot

YÖK The place is great and the views upstairs as well. The food is questionable, very questionable. A local family of entrepreneurs went for a meal on Sunday, and is it enough to say that the food heated in the mixer was partly icy and frozen when served. -wines are, however, of high quality. I also went to eat with a friend once, but that was the last time. When I asked the head waiter, who was a very nice guy, why not get the kitchen under control, he said that you won't get a new chef like this before the turn of the year. I can't help , the Italian was alone, looking angry and anxious, not even greeting his few customers. The health inspector should do a blow to food supplies. Sorry for my bad review but this is true. This is a nice little bar right on the edge of the beautiful Indian Ocean Beach. They have pretty good food. Although it is a little bit pricey. You can usually spend $20 per person. It is traditional Kenyan food. The meat is chopped up in two chunks which include mate and bone. This can be a little bit confusing if you are not used to it.

Most pathetic services especially on weekends and poor customer service by staff.Came here at 2.42pm and placed my order it is 4.50pm still waiting for food and no explanation by one waitress Miriam. Worst Staff at Masaa Beach. As repeat I am very disappointed. Today marks the end of my visit and customer loyalty.Never coming back,I value my time .

For some reason l can't get a beach feeling here. It's a parking lot with some eating facility, could be a highway joint rather. Access to the beach is not even possible. What a joke, better places elsewhere....

This Indian restaurant at English point might not be the spot people notice or get attracted to, but it’s worth the attention for its delicious food. The food bursts with spiced flavors. I had their naan and chicken curry, which were so delicious, although the servings might leave you wanting more, but for the price and the service, unfortunately it's not worth the splurge! But it’s worth trying.. The only restaurant I enjoy their service in English point restaurants is MASA

This restaurant was decent- the ambiance is great however the food is mediocre. The chefs style is quite different. He uses a lot of spices in the food so you can really taste a lot of garam masala/ chat masala, etc in every bite. It got too overpowering for me. We were 9 people and here’s what we ordered: Paneer tikka (I don’t recommend) Murgh tikka (recommend) Papdi chaat (recommend - lots of spices though) Aloo chaat (recommend - lots of spices though) Mutton seekh kabab (don’t recommend) Butter chicken (recommend) Dal makhni (don’t recommend) Mango lassi (very delicious) Butter and chilli naan (very delicious) Kesar kulfi (very delicious) Gajar halwa (very delicious) Moong Dal halwa (mediocre) Passion juice (good taste but a bit watered down) Papadum- complimentary starters, great to have with the chutneys! Masala chai was very nice as well Service was good, food all came on time. Waiters were nice. I appreciate the fact that the chef came to our table and asked us how we liked the food and genuinely wanted honest feedback. He was very humble and kind. I recommend this restaurant for those who are a fan of Indian cuisine. Our total came to about 17,000/-, so approximately 1,900/- per person. Decently priced restaurant for the amount we ordered.

Service is a bit of a hit-and-miss but the malai tikka was incredibly flavourful and moist. The virgin dawa cane in a small glass - felt cheated because the virgin piña colada comes in a tall hefty glass. Still, the quality of food is up there and the view from the boardwalk is worth the extra bucks you’d cough up for the food.

I've said it once, I'll proudly say it again! I love indian and chinese food, heck Asian food in general. On that note, it was abso-f@£king-lutely delicious! I took a break from going for my usual chicken (butter) and went into uncharted waters and stumbled upon... The Nihari Gohst!⛈⛈⚡⚡. Which to my surprise was very delicious! That with Naan bread on the side and you'd be transported to stereotypical indian Heaven! I had only two complaints with this establishment: 1. The service was rather slow and inattentive, the former being understandable as the sheer number of customers here is staggering (must be the food) but the latter... disappointing. As we got in to ask if a table for five would be available anytime soon, a waitress simply brushed past us barely even recognising us as Humans! Still could've been due to the customers and the pressure that arises from the orders. 2. The portion of the dishes in question was extremely small, its be enough to fill the tummy of a toddler at best, not the Belly of the Beast. But enjoyable. Overall I may or may not go back here, as the prices here are on the middle of the seesaw, not too cheap, not too expensive! Good spot, good food, meh service. Richard. A

You dont want to go to this place the waiters are sleeping. Apart from that, they make you wait for soooooo long then bring half the food . We get Food with out garnish.. just Chicken Tikka.. No Rice! And 30min. For Bill. Dont waste your time there are better restaurants. I think KFC is better !

I really enjoyed the grilled cheese and tomato sandwich, it was delicious! I’ll definitely be coming back to try more of the veggie options on the menu. The ambience is lovely and the service was great. The only downside was that the WiFi wasn’t working during my visit.

📍A great place to hangout in kizingo area. Plenty of space to sit inside and very quiet with nice interior. Outside patio is very beautiful. 👨‍🍳 Friendly staff and the owner also helped us setting up table. They took some time with our menu but there was a huge crowd. 🎂 Everything was nicely presented and standard was maintained the roadrunner fries were amazing. Sweetlovers will definately love this place. 💲 Charges are very good not expensive. Average prices.

Love the plating. Was a calm and sunday morning, reminiscent of your serene cafe atmosphere - chill. Had the chickens skewers, everest pancakes, mnk special wings and the sliders, all of which were tasty. For drinks we had the dawa tea pot. Food took 40 minutes but definitely worth it and gave us enough time to have a good ol’ chat. Owner checked on us which was a plus.

One of the places in Mombasa with a variety of food options to choose from. Their menu is quite detailed (scan the QR code in the photos attached, to get the menu). I love how you write down your order and ring the bell for the waiter to come to your table-no more 'excuse me's. You also ring it to ask for the bill-very cool! The food took around 20-25 minutes for it to be ready and that wasn't too bad. The meal was well done but for the garlic wedges, felt more of blackpepper than garlic and I even forgot to ask if indeed they were garlic or they had mixed up the order. Otherwise, the burger was the bomb🥵 and their waffles also good. Great ambience, great customer service and I'd for sure visit again 👌🏾.

As I came here with a friend of mine who was also a Luo, the food was good but not as good as expected. It's still a good meal though. The tilapia was decent, but didn't taste the freshest, but the rest of the food was alright. The serving sizes was more than generous that I struggled to walk downstairs right after. The service was a bit indifferent, we were mainly left to ourselves. However, if I ever come back to Mombasa again, it's unlikely that I'd stop by here a second time.

Really enjoyed the roof terrace ...it has a really well maintained terrace where you could sit down and enjoy the breeze. They had lovely flowers made it really colorful and so pleasing.

I ordered brown chapati, fried fish, chicken tikka and fries. I loved the brown chapati most, followed closely by fried fish.. The service at the restaurant was fantastic. The staff were so friendly. I also had a cocktail which i loved very much as it had some good amount of alcohol. I loved the ambience in this restaurant. All in all I loved everything and would definitely come back

I am greatly disappointed today! I have always enjoyed being here. I made an order yesterday 25/7/2025. I called and said what I needed prepared. The meal was to be ready by 4pm today. I went there today, 26/7/2025 a few minutes to 2pm, paid and waited, hoping for the food to be ready by 4pm. At 4pm, one of the staff comes and tells me there was an issue with the fish, just when I was expecting the food on the table. She goes ahead and tells me it will be ready in 5 minutes. I waited for another hour and a half before the food arrived. Curious to know what took more than 3 hours to prepare despite calling a day earlier? Two fish, kachumbari, osuga, ugali and fries. If the owner is reading this, someone has to be reprimanded for this poor service!!!!!!

Hands down best pizza I've had in Mombasa. On the menu are alot of varieties of freshly baked clay oven pizzas that magical especially with their secret sauce..and for all the meat lovers I strongly suggest you try the meatlovers pizza. The restaurant has this Caribbean Mexican atmosphere with the song playing in the background left me feeling like I was in a Vin Diesel movie. Without a doubt, best pizza place in Mombasa.

Been here a few times now, always welcomed by the hospitable staff. Very few places make Szechuan chicken like Li's however this time round it was disappointing, quite average actually. The beef was also not up to par and it's pretty expensive. Perhaps will give them one more visit next time i'm in Mombasa and see

Li's one of the best Chinese restaurant I have tried in Africa (I am an Asian), the food was delicious. We had - fried beef with brocolli - chicken satay (a bit different from how Asian make it but it still tastes good.) - home cooked tofu pot - fried chicken dumpling (10-12 small pieces) The service is excellent as well as the enironment, a decent Chinese restaurant. Recommend all to go. Price-wise, it is affordable, not too expensive with the quality of food they have.

Few places have come out triumphant in all aspects from food, service, and atmosphere, but Li's Chinese Restaurant in Nyali is truly the exception. The food is delicious, fresh, perfectly seasoned, and packed. They don't over sauce the food to cover bland proteins or carbs. The sweet and sour prawns were absolutely mouth-watering with perfected vegetable rice. The vegetable wonton soup was salted and seasoned lightly to allow the other ingredients to gently tease the pallate for other deliciousness offered on their menu. I also greatly enjoyed the chicken dim sum, steamed not fried. I ordered takeaway for pick-up at 3pm, they were still offering their lunch combos, they stated 20 minutes and 25 minutes later I was enjoying myself 😋 Highly recommend especially for my fellow Americans who are less adventurous in the way of food. Think 'panda express' but miles better!! You can thank me later

Their customer service is top notch. They did not have a kids' menu but the waitress was kind enough to suggest something (chips with chicken lollipop). The food is indeed Chinese, though if you're a real Chinese or need a native Chinese dish try their boiled/steamed range. However, be prepared to pay for a 16% VAT and 2% catering tax not included in the menu price. Let me break this down for you. A bottle of still water goes for 350ksh. Your bill will be 350 + (16% of 350) plus (2% of 350). The tax applies to individual dishes not the whole bill. Their food, if you're two, I'd suggest you order just a single dish and share because you won't finish it alone, lol! Oh, the cutlery is fork and spoon, so don't tense honey! Happy dining, give me a thumbs up or comment if you do try this place.

We were served very well at our table. We were with 2 black ladies and 1 one white older man. It's a pity that the dishes weren't served at the same time, so I think the planning of the cook or the communication wasn't good. The meals were very tasteful and well prepared, especially the Sea Food Pizza.

Well, this is not a place I would recommend or go back unless it’s a date and just want to spend the evening drinking a milkshake. I went with my family and we waited and waited before we received any service or food. No one welcomed us, we had to find our way down to the sitting area, which was many stairs down. It was a lot of stairs. Two servers serving 10 tables although it wasn’t busy, yet the service was super slow. Our drinks came after 40 minutes and food after 1.5 hours. The glasses were not sanitized and I drank the water from the bottle itself. The drinks had a straw. It was so hot as there was no breeze, 3-4 fans which didn’t help at all. The waiters were trying but running up and down the stairs was definable taking a toll on them. The food was okay. Whatever we ordered, they were out of 50% of what we ordered, it was the same with the drinks. The menu was limited in terms of availability(they were out of most dishes, including ice hence they couldn’t make the drinks either)

I enjoyed the floating island resturant. Location is great and I did enjoy the starters especially the oysters. Atmosphere was very relaxed and peacefull. Overall I would recommend this place for a relaxed weekend lunch/brunch.

If you are looking for place to smoke a shisha and chill with nice view, you must visit here. If you wanna have some nice foods especially you are hungry, please don’t visit here. I have waited the foods a to be served for 2 hours and you thought the foods were great enough as it was taken long enough to make it, helll nooo it’s just average :) It’s such a waste for such a nice environment without proper management and training of the staffs, maybe they are running out of chefs too! Even though the waiter would remind you there were gonna be some delay of the foods, 2 hours of waiting time was beyond imagination. If it’s a high quality, it’s reasonable. Unfortunately, it’s not the case here.

I enjoyed my time here went on a Saturday afternoon sat by the ocean enjoyed the sea breeze...had a great relaxation. Then I had the passion vanilla mocktail which was good, the pilipili fries were so delicious if you a spicy eater am definitely recommending this and then had schezuan octopus not complaining but there is room for improvement.

My first time to visit the floating island restaurant yesterday and was very much happy for the service offered, for really and to be honest i enjoyed everything that I had. At first I ordered Rockefeller oyster and dynamite prawns were very very delicious after and then I ordered the steak stir fry guess what...I'll be back again with my family.. seemed theirs something good in that restaurant... keep it up...

Like many other coastal bbq joint, rock wall provides decent bbq options. There's a adjacent Italian and Chinese restaurant so that's a plus for the place. Prices are reasonable. The service can be a bit slow though. This wouldn't be my first choice but is a good option for those living in Nyali.

Ponto is located in Nyali, and it's such a lovely spot! The restaurant has a spacious atmosphere and serves generous portions. We enjoyed some delicious plantain, pilau, and biryani—everything was fantastic! Plus, the cozy vibe and friendly staff made our experience even better.

I had the chicken breast and rice and my partner had the prawn salad. My partner complained that she ate one prawn that had an off taste. One hour later, she started vomiting so badly. My good guess - the prawns were bad. Otherwise, the customer service was good.

I loved this simple cozy place. The meal was really good, had chips shawarma, its a shame I didn't take any photos. Also the had a vanilla shake which was really good and sweet as well. The potion for the meal was just right and more than enough for people who don't eat much. Will go again when I get a chance.

Camel joint is out go to for dessert. We had I ecream sundae , milkshakes and masala tea. The staff are lovely, and our food and drinks were served quickly. The family favourite here is the Falooda and masala tea.

It is located next to a small football field along links road. The place is quite small and too close to the road to dine there(according to me) but, great for ordering in if you live along links road, Mt. Kenya road towards the barracks. I would have given 5 stars because the food and tea is really good, but I somehow feel cheated. Whenever I go with my boyfriend, we order mutton biryani and the price is 750ksh. Tonight I went alone and ordered the same, mutton biryani. I even pointed to it on the menu. Now the price is 850ksh because they “made a mistake and gave me special biryani”. I know mistakes happen but it’s the second time happening to me when I am ordering it. Why? I told the waiter about the mistake but he just helplessly looked at me and said sorry without offering to change the price, even when I told him it’s the second time that they do that.

They say don't try to fix what's working so I can say the restaurant is very good in most aspects but some things they got it very wrong and needs to improve. Too much oil on polo pizza barely any fresh ingredients and topped with what looks like chicken curry leftover. Probably the worst pizza I've had.

I loved the chicken biryani!! The yogurt sauce was the perfect much with the rice. The chicken doesn’t have bones nor skins, so it was easy to eat. The iced American coffee was more tasty than the one at the coffee shop where I usually go. This restaurant is also very well air-conditioned, so I spent a comfortable time.

The wait here is very very long, and the waiters are quite rude. I enjoyed the music and the dj is quite interesting. They serve a variety of alcoholic beverages and mostly on weekends they’re open till the morning. They should just improve their service, they also serve food and it’s quite good!

A lovely place to chill with friends. Best time for the club is however past midnight. You might be disappointed if you get there early. Get there at 2 am up to the next morning. Love the food and the ample parking space. The outdoor setting is also favourable for the coastal climate. Should however beef up security strategies.

This place is quite recommend for those who want an open air sitting arrangement. The pub is basically located on the parking lot. It is quite stuffy inside, smaller and not well ventilated. Service is great, food is good. Their rice is perfectly cooked, try it with wet fried chicken, very delicious.

I feel like something missing... some tables that feel in the parking lot. They search people but they let all cars go in freely. 2 people at the gate but no real security. Live band is cool on Fridays but it seemed always empty. Some girls trying to sell you some precious goods surroundings made the area dodgy. Was some weird visits and a bit too expensive for what seemed like a dead place on my 3 visits.

Open space with large televisions to watch your football matches. Plenty of American style Pub food, including great wings, and a selection of Kenyan beers. Also a big stage with live music that adds to the ambiance. Highly recommend a visit.

Well stocked, good service, very convenient first time I went there. Went back lately and like most Nakumatt outlets, the shelves could do with replenishment of stock otherwise it's slowly dying.

This used to be the best supermarket on the island. I would never shop anywhere else. Sad that it's now facing a cash crunch hence has mostly empty shelves. Hoping for its quick recovery.

We were served by a lovely and friendly lady, what stood out for me beside the tasty food was the cloth they give for cleaning hands was warm and had such a nice minty scent to it, that was a highlight for me.

Very fast and friendly service though it was low season. The restaurant is right at beachside. You can have your drink watching the beach revelers or even join them. The food was great. The wait staff are ready to serve you. This spot is kids friendly with a small play park.

I was there on boxing day with my family. From the beginning at the entrance, you could feel the friendly attitude from the staff. The waiter Alfred received us at the entrance, and guided us to a very nice seating place. The food and the service was great. During this festive season, where every restaurant is overcrowded, it was amazing, how all systems were nicely running. Every one was in a very good mood. We will come back :-)
