This food court attracts many travelers seeking an authentic local experience when they visit Paje beach. With its diverse range of flavors and dishes, it's a popular choice for those looking to immerse themselves in the local culinary scene.
Highly recommend this place! Great food and the most friendly staff! We had the Pili Pili burger (perfect for spice lovers) with skinny fries and fresh fried calamari. Enjoyed the drinks and spent the afternoon here. The staff made us try their local spicy sauce which was fiery, bought some of their sauce bottles too! Please dont skip it, good vibe to meet other tourists too

really nice place. There are small places you can order from. The staff is really nice and attentive. We have been here several times and the food has been SO good every time. BUT you have to be aware when ordring from “GRILL”, that you Get your change back - because we have multiple times experienced he “forgot” about it.. sadly..
Josefine S — Google review
The food was delicious — full of flavor and beautifully presented. The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Truly a wonderful place with exceptional service. Highly recommend!
Kurt — Google review
I ordered a chicken wrap and a menu with chicken and sweet potato wedges with coleslaw. The chicken in the wrap was so dry I didn’t even eat half and the wrap itself was dry aswell. I would go again only for the vibe and atmosphere, but for a drink only. Maybe the other places are better, but the chicken place was not good.
Cecilie P — Google review
We had wonderful food this sunday evening. We ordered whole fish served with garlic potatoes and we had burger with fries. The food is really different from other places, perfect cooked and they use very interesting spices. We will come back next days, thats for sure!
Roland S — Google review
The perfect place to stop and grab any variety of craved deliciousness. I had an exceptional coffee at the central bar. Service was friendly and prompt, and the staff clearly took pride in their work! Could have spent more time, and will certainly be back to taste more! Bonus: friendly and well behaved kitten!
Lauren W — Google review
The food was okay, and the chicken wings were very small for the price. The portion of chicken strips was good for the price. The guy at the chicken station was really nice and deserved his tip. This place could be very nice, but unfortunately, the seats and tables were covered in a thin layer of dust—I suspect from car traffic. We sat on a towel to protect our clothes. It would be very helpful if someone would go around and clean before people sit down. The wooden plates are a great idea, but if they have sand in them, it's not worth it. A wall or fence separating the place from the street would also be a good idea. With a little more effort, this place could be even nicer. The idea behind this place is great!
Rop Z — Google review
I had the T-bone steak from the grill and it was absolutely delicious! The grilled veggies and chips were also beautiful and full of flavor. The place has such a great vibe — perfect spot to enjoy a drink and relax. The atmosphere is very friendly and cozy, and it’s really easy to meet new people here. The staff are super welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. Overall, I loved it and will definitely come back!

Ocean Restaurant is a must-visit dining spot in Paje, Zanzibar. It is renowned for its fabulous food and iconic location, making it a top choice among visitors. The restaurant offers a unique experience for all the senses and is often featured in guides to the best restaurants in Zanzibar. Its picturesque setting on the southeast part of the island adds to its allure, making it a popular destination for both lunch and early dinner.
I have not a bad word to say about this place. It may be a bit on the pricier side but considering the beach front location, amazing quality of the food and the kind waiters it’s adequate. I felt very comfortable at the Ocean Restaurant!
Lena B — Google review
We had pretty good seafood here. The seafood pasta could have had a little more sauce to cover the noodles better. The seafood platters though were excellent.
Brandon Z — Google review
I definitely recommend this place to grab something to eat. Lovely beef avocado burger, curry, beef mango salad or soup. Portions are large. Much better than hotel breakfasts. Also amazing passion fruits or fresh fruits juices. I ate in many places in Zanzibar and was disappointed often. This place is safe to eat in. They also have life music on Fridays.

my favorite spot on Paje beach: the atmosphere is cozy and relaxed. the staff is super friendly and attentive. food is also great! asante sana ❤️🙏🏼

After 5 days of trying different restaurants for each meal, we found Ocean to be The best restaurant on Paje beach. The food is consistently tasty and well prepared (with some minor flaws - the fries were on the soggy side), and the service and atmosphere were spot on. Highly recommend the shrimp spring rolls and the fish of the day - both were above and beyond delicious.
M M — Google review
During my families four day visit to Paje we spent every single night at Ocean Restaurant enjoying the beautiful views, the tasty happy hour cocktails and the pampering of the truly wonderful staff. Without fail we observed the ritual of the sundowner on the front right corner bench, with the perfect view on the rising moon and the last kite surfers of the day. And every night the kind, attentive and joyous staff provided excellent service, making sure we were without want. While truly every server was a credit to the Restaurant, the supervisor Glory truly went above and beyond in making sure all of our needs, wants and wishes were more than fulfilled. We are already exited to return during our next visit!

2021. Great Restaurant with a nice vibe right by the Beach. They often have live music playing. The sea food and local dishes are the best. They have happy hour until 7pm for all alcoholic beverages and cocktails. Just make sure to check your bill. We went there over ten times and the bill was wrong over half of the time. Thanks to Fred for always sorting everything out. Food was no good 2022 😏

Went there while it was happy hour and had great cocktails. We also ordered food which was quickly served and pretty good. The restaurant has a nice view as well

Delight Zanzibar is a renowned culinary destination in Paje, offering delectable dishes and a welcoming atmosphere. The stunning stilted wood-building restaurant features a terrace with breathtaking views of Paje Beach and the ocean. Guests can enjoy fantastic breakfasts, lunches, and dinners while overlooking the picturesque beach. Additionally, the restaurant accommodates special occasions by offering custom-made cakes upon request.
A must visit Restaurant in Zanzibar 😍 Delight Zanzibar 🌟 Delight Zanzibar truly lives up to its name! This restaurant is an absolute gem, offering not only delicious food but also a beautiful ambiance. The upstairs seating is a must its design and stunning views make dining here an unforgettable experience. From the very first night, I was blown away by the food. The pizza and calamari were so fresh and flavourful that after trying another restaurant in Paje (which didn’t even come close), we decided to eat here for the next three nights! That alone says everything. One of the standout dishes for me was the homemade pumpkin ravioli—WOW, WOW, WOW! The flavours were simply incredible, and I honestly could have had seconds. Every dish we tried was fresh, flavourful, and made with love. The drinks were also fantastic, perfectly complementing the meal. A special mention to the owner, who is from Italy 🇮🇹 he was so kind and welcoming, taking the time to check on us and ensure we had a great experience. You can truly feel the passion he has for his restaurant and the food he serves. If I ever come back to Zanzibar, Delight Zanzibar will be one of my first stops. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing food, great atmosphere, and warm hospitality!

Lovely restaurant with delicious Italian food! Pizza is just like in Italy. Came here twice just because I couldn’t find better food in Paje so far. The Cheesecake is divine, sour, a bit salty but also sweet! Location is amazing, right on the beach so I didn’t even have to wear shoes coming from the hotel here. The waiters are very kind and food arrives pretty quickly! It’s a bit pricey compared to other places but the difference is in the FOOD! Highly recommend it!
Andreea — Google review
The restaurant is SO cute with nice decoration Food is very good & fresh !!! and staff is friendly. But don’t forget to bring cash because you cannot pay with the credit card :-(

Beautiful view from the upper floor and amazing food. Octopus was so soft and flavorful.

Tried only dessert, chocolate cake but was super normal, nothing special about it. You can only pay by cash. The kitchen closes around 9.30 pm. Prices are average.
Mohga T — Google review
My wife and I had a diner at the delight restaurant. I was craving for pizza and I was choked to find such unbelievable taste here ! My Calzone tasted like home ! Then I realized the chef was trained by Italian and the products come from there also.
Geoffray P — Google review
Honestly – a perfect experience! The Delight Paje Washington and Siciliana sandwiches exceeded expectations. The bread was fresh and nicely crispy, the ingredients were well-balanced, and the flavors were rich and authentic. The Washington sandwich was full of delicate aromas, while the Siciliana brought a true explosion of Mediterranean taste. Everything was fresh, delicious, and perfectly prepared. Highly recommended for anyone who loves a quality sandwich!

Rude service from hostess, she doesn’t respect customers. And even if there is misunderstanding she should be nice to customers, that’s her job. Rude service for high priced place. Not recommend. We left and go another place for lunch

The Rooftop Restaurant in Paje offers a wide selection of local cuisine at affordable prices. It is an ideal choice for those on a budget or visiting the area. The menu includes various seafood dishes such as Grilled lobsters, Octopus, and calamari, served with either french fries or rice. Although it may not have received favorable reviews on Google, the restaurant is highly regarded by groups who appreciate its delicious meals and unique location.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at a stylish rooftop restaurant in the heart of Paje, Zanzibar. From the moment I arrived, the ambiance was perfect: a relaxed, yet vibrant atmosphere with a stunning view of the Indian Ocean, complemented by soft ocean breezes. For the meal, I started with a refreshing seafood salad, which was packed with fresh prawns, calamari, and a tangy citrus dressing. It was the ideal light starter to accompany the warm evening. For the main course, I opted for the grilled local fish, and it did not disappoint. The fish was perfectly cooked—moist and flaky—served with a side of flavorful coconut rice and grilled vegetables that tasted like they were picked fresh from the garden. The highlight, though, was the dessert: a rich chocolate mousse with a hint of sea salt that perfectly balanced the sweetness with a touch of savory. The entire meal was an exquisite blend of flavors, showcasing the best of local and international cuisine. Service was attentive, and the setting was simply unbeatable, with the sunset over the ocean adding an extra layer of magic to the evening. If you’re in Paje and looking for a rooftop dining experience that combines delicious food with a breathtaking view, Rooftop restaurant is a must-visit!

Every dish was made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and you could really taste the difference. The service was also excellent—friendly, attentive, and professional. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal. I will definitely be coming back!

This restaurant is a hidden gem! We loved the atmosphere and the food was amazing. The pricepoint is high value and the staff was tentative and very friendly during the whole dinner. Highly recommended!

Great Paje spot. If you wanna change the flavour from "African burgers and spaghetti" 😉 Or as much as you like pilau, you may want something different- real Indian cuisine, good staff, nice rooftop and friendly owner who brings natural spices all the way from India. Real Indian food on Zanzibar.

Best meal we had in Zanzibar! Get the paella mix for 2! Best cooked octopus and rice we’ve ever had! Delicious! The paella was so good we completely forgot we had the tuna tartar to start out, which was also great. Espresso martini was excellent as well.

The mocha is probably the best I have had anywhere. Our group went back here for breakfast twice because of it. The avocado eggs Benedict and mushroom toast were delicious as well. Our server was also so friendly.

Absolutely loved this place! We went there several times during our 2,5 days stay in Paje. The seafood was really fresh, the chicken salad was delicious. The coffee is good as well!

We had a truly wonderful experience at Zanzibarista. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. Warm, genuine and always smiling. The service was fast and attentive and you could really feel the heart they put into everything. The food was absolutely delicious. Full of flavor, beautifully presented and clearly made from fresh ingredients. Whether you are in the mood for seafood, curry or something sweet, you are in for a treat. (Check the photos. They speak for themselves.) The restaurant is also spotless and well maintained, which added to the relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere. And that view… wow. Sitting by the ocean with the sound of the waves and a fresh breeze in your face is hard to beat. If you are in Zanzibar and looking for a place to eat that combines amazing food, top notch service and stunning views, Zanzibarista should be high on your list.

This was such a good spot right on the beach in Paje, with a stunning view and a calm, relaxed atmosphere. My husband really wanted the shakshuka, and even though breakfast had ended, they kindly made it especially for us. The chicken salad was also very tasty.
Dina — Google review
Overall, I can very highly recommend this place! I had a delicious tuna steak with a mango salad and avocado. After having the food I had a chat with the manager and told him that the tuna steak was great. He then recommended to also try the tuna tartar. I told him that we‘re a bit careful with raw fish, he then reassured that he would only offer it when it is very fresh from the sea. To convince us of the freshness he offered a tuna tartar on the house, and it indeed was fantastic (and I didn’t get sick after of course). This really showed that the manager really cares about offering great quality food. This was probably the best food we‘ve had in Sansibar and on top of that the view of the beach is beautiful!

We had a very pleasant dinner with my family there. The staff was so kind and attentive! The foos was very tasty and enjoyable! We recommend it for sure!

Loved the atmosphere, service was great, food was healthy and fresh. Juices were good too. Beautiful view of the beach with the sea right there at high tide. UPDATE: we went back a couple days later at about 1pm, and sadly had to wait over an hour to get served - so be aware of this at busy times.

Bausinga Restaurant in Paje offers a delightful dining experience with perfectly balanced local dishes made from fresh ingredients sourced from the nearby markets and fishermen. The restaurant is designed with locally inspired Makuti roofs, providing an authentic atmosphere for enjoying a great lunch or dinner right by the beach. Visitors can savor generous portions of seafood at affordable prices and even participate in cooking lessons to learn about typical African dishes.
We had an amazing cooking class here. I recommend everyone who is into food to have this experience. We cooked 5 local dishes, participated in every process. The owner of the place and other cooks were super nice, They explained everything, let us do a lot of cooking, answered every question. After that we ate everything together, and it was delicious. I absolutely recomand it.
Yana K — Google review
I recently had the opportunity to dine at this establishment. We ordered the red snapper, fish curry, chicken tandoori, and spinach curry. Unfortunately, the red snapper was not up to par. The fish was very dry and lacked flavor. In fact, the skin was completely black and burnt, which added an unpleasant taste to the dish. Additionally, the fish curry was quite bland and lacked depth of flavor, while the spinach curry was over-seasoned and too salty. The chicken tandoori was super dry and really tasty. One major downside of this restaurant is that they do not serve any alcoholic beverages, which may be a dealbreaker for some patrons. Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my experience. The lack of quality in the dishes and absence of any alcoholic drinks made for a disappointing dining experience.
Leinad K — Google review
A disappointing experience, despite the friendly service. The chef clearly has a heavy hand with salt- the vegetable curry side dish was so salty it was inedible, and even the seafood pizza, though otherwise okay, was overly salted. My grilled calamari was delicious but came in a tiny portion. To the waiter’s credit, he kindly brought the rest after I raised the issue. Pricing felt off- we were charged 12,000 TZS for a side of mchicha, while the seafood pizza was only 15,000 TZS. There are definitely better dining options in the area.
Maciej Z — Google review
Great little local restaurant. A perfectly balanced menu with local dishes and only fresh ingredients. Grilled fish was fine perfectly and the curry absolutely tasty. Here you can enjoy a great lunch or dinner with local food with your feet in the sand.
Christoph P — Google review
Very nice place, sadly the food was quite bland. We all asked for "spice rice" and except for cummin, I am not quite sure what was used. But except for that, very nice place and really good service!
CorvintusDK — Google review
Restaurant without a good view on the ocean, but the food it’s really good especially grilled octopus and octopus curry. Prices are very reasonable. Go and try by yourself.
Kamila L — Google review
Probably the best meal we had in Zanzibar! Found out about this place by luck from taxi driver, unfortunately on our last day. It is near Paje beach and easy to find. Big portion of sea food for affordable price. We had plate of sea food for one person (it's like for two) and swahili prepared octopus in sauce. It was tasty and well prepared. Sincere recommendations!
Elizabeta M — Google review
I came here from Jambiani to see what is so special about this place. It doesn't have ocean view, no license for alcohol, and toilet to pay 2000 shillings. But the food is good and juices are fresh. I had my white snapper with rosemary potato and mango juice only for 19000 shillings.

Bento, situated on the route to Paje beach in Tanzania, is a unique eatery that combines Asian and African culinary styles to create delightful dishes. With its enticing selection of stir fry and sushi options, Bento caters to a wide range of tastes. The Carnaval of Flavours at the Bento food court in Paje offers the ultimate dining experience with its fresh and vibrant cuisine. The juices served are not only delicious but also creatively presented with catchy names.
This is such a cool and relaxed place! You can sit on the first floor where a light breeze is blowing and it’s not too hot. The food is amazing! I had the best Veggie Burger there and everyone I went with loved their food. The system of the food court is so incredible for diverse friends groups. They prepare the food so quickly, even if there are a lot of costumers. Also, the ice cream is absolutely delicious!!!

Great place for a family with different food choices but lots of flies. The burgers are very average. The wok, pizza and Mexican are absolutely delicious! They also have some amazing gelato.

My best place in Paje so far! If I’m not wrong opened on weekends with life music. Friday had an amazing band, Saturday short intro with life music as well, guys have beautiful voices. Place have different zonings for sitting. Not sure about the food, but there was a bar, coffeeshop and shisha place.
Алеся Ш — Google review
The place has a cool and creative vibe, built from repurposed containers that give it a unique atmosphere. It features multiple kiosks, each offering a different type of cuisine — from burgers and pizza to seafood, Chinese, Japanese, and more. The area feels lively and casual, with friendly dogs casually walking around. We tried the burger kiosk and it was absolutely delicious — freshly made and full of flavor. Definitely a fun spot to hang out and grab a bite!
Fahad A — Google review
I finally checked out Bento after hearing several recommendations, and I must say it was actually very good! The food court has plenty of options: from burgers to ramen, Mexican food and more. So there’s something for everyone. We decided on the Mexican food truck and had the chicken tacos. They were generous with the filling (almost too much, since it made them a bit tricky to eat), but overall tasty. For dessert, we grabbed some ice cream from another stall and if you go, please do yourself a favour and try the tropical flavour. It was absolutely divine and reminded me of Solero ice cream. So refreshing! The atmosphere is also a highlight: lively, full of young people, with live music adding to the vibe. Definitely a place I’d go back to.
Solange C — Google review
Wanted to try the pizza just because somebody said it was one of the best in the aerea. And they were right, as Italians we loved it. Also tried the chicken tacos, really good too. Prices are a little high compared to the average, but it’s a tourist place so it’s understandable.
Carmen C — Google review
We absolutely loved this food court during our stay in Paje. The wok dishes were delicious and the sushi was excellent. We ended up coming back multiple days in a row, this quickly became our go-to spot for dinner. The atmosphere is very pleasant and cozy, making it a great place to relax and enjoy your food.

If you're going there for the beach bar vibe and party it is good. If you're going for the food, it's a big let down. The burgers didn't have any of the toppings that was mentioned on the menu. Like none. It was just a patty, bread and basic dressings. The veggie bowl was dry and flavourless.

Paje by Night Restaurant is a popular dining spot located in the Paje beach area. The restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes including starters, salads, soups, pizza, fish and meat platters, as well as local Swahili curries. The atmosphere is described as quiet and cozy with friendly staff. Guests can enjoy live music in the spacious outdoor area while indulging in delicious food such as pasta carbonara, pizzas, and grilled crab.
Great place for dinner! Big outdoor space with live music. Not too loud that you could still have a conversation and very enjoyable jazz and afro beats. The menu has a lot of options and they are all delicious. We had bolognese lasagna, pasta carbonara, pizza margarita, calamari and fish. It all delicious! 🤌🏼 Staff was very friendly and wifi available. Can’t recommend this place more! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Shanga Restaurant Paje, situated near Aquaholics, offers a dining experience that fuses local flavors with global influences. The menu features innovative dishes with a Zanzibari touch, all within a vibrant atmosphere. The restaurant boasts beautiful decor and is ideal for socializing or creative work. While the service was friendly and attentive, some guests experienced delays in ordering dessert and coffee after their main course.
Very pretty, kind staff. I had come through the beach way and a high tide had tried to take my fluffy sliders so I was socked on the bottom half. They were accommodating, helpful and understanding and then the service while dining was also good, they were attentive.
Pamela A — Google review
The food is good but the quantity is very small compared to the price and to the other restaurants that offer more quantity for lower price in the same area. The atmosphere is good, the view is on top and the staff is very helpful. Good spot for pictures. Take into consideration that the Menu online is not the same at the table (prices and options are very different) Plus, no water in the toilets! 👎🏻👎🏻

Everything was great and the team there was super nice to us. Our drinks were great and my Tuna as well. The only downside was the extreme small selection of vegetarian dishes. There was only one vegetarian main dish.
Raimo N — Google review
The restaurant has a nice location right on the beach with a great view and a relaxing evening atmosphere when it’s not too busy. The staff are very friendly, and it’s one of the best shisha spots on the island. The quality of the food is okay, but for the price, it could definitely be better. Some of the guests and tourists who come here can be a bit arrogant at times.

Great location, beautifully decorated, service with a smile. On one of the days, the sewage next door took over the restaurant and ended the vibe. But when we visited again a couple of days afterwards, we didn't experience this.

Shanga Restaurant in Paje is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing, perfectly matching the beach vibe of Zanzibar. The food is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented — every dish tastes like it’s made with care and passion. The seafood, in particular, is outstanding, and the juices are refreshing and natural.

I’ve been to this spot more than once during my stay at paje. Great vibes at night, music was very nice. I tried some drinks and they were fine but not wow like pineapple fresh juice and banana juice. Tried mashed potatoes as a snack. It was creamy and good. Friendly staff. You can pay by cash or card. Prices might be above average but the vibes are great.

Hello Capitano Zanzibar is a charming hotel and restaurant with an incredible ocean view. Guests rave about the delicious and filling breakfast at the Hello Capitano Cafe, which offers breathtaking views of the sea. The staff is attentive and accommodating, ensuring that all requests are met. The restaurant's decor is inviting, making it a perfect spot to enjoy fresh and mouthwatering food while listening to background music.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Hidden Gem by the Sea! Absolutely loved this beach shack! The vibes were on point — laid-back, breezy, and just what you want by the ocean. The music added a perfect touch: chill enough to relax, but lively enough to keep the mood up. The food? Fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly well done for a shack setup. Everything from the food to the drinks was top quality and served with a smile. It’s the kind of place you stumble upon and end up staying longer than planned. Great atmosphere, great service, and seriously great eats. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a no-fuss, feel-good spot right on the beach. I’ll definitely be back!

I had the octopus bowl. it was delicious and fresh and the different fruits added to the bowl was so good. However, it was missing some flavor maybe some seasoning to give the dish a kick and the ratio of rice was too little. Overall, really enjoyed my time at this restaurant and the beach front view was amazing and to not be missed😍
Anwaar K — Google review
Amazing food, perfect location, and great and quick service! We already tried today grilled octopus, octopus salad, calamari, smoothie bowls, beef wraps, fresh mango juice and everything was extremely tasty! We’re definitely coming back!👌🏼

If you are seeking a blend of yummy cuisine, vibrant ambiance, and breathtaking ocean views, Hello Capitano in Pane is your destination. The menu at Hello Capitano is a delightful mix between international and local dishes. The variety of tasty options makes you wonder what to order and try. One of the best dishes is the grilled octopus. Woww!! It is so tender and flavorful. Also, i can't forget the fresh catch of the day which gives different taste every time and never disappoints. However, i need to remind you; keep a place for dessert. Mango cheesecake is one of my favorite actually. From the very first bite you get to taste all the flavors making it next level. A restaurant is defined with not only meals but also service. The staff there always smile to you and care for your comfort. Each time i wanted something a staff rushes to provide it to me without hesitation and with a nice smile. My overall experience was amazing in Hello Capitano and i would definitely repeat my visit there every vacation i can. So, i recommend visiting this ambient destination in Paje.

Loved the place and one of the staff was Lebanese so he was super friendly and welcoming since we could speak Arabic although the whole staff were friendly honestly. I visited the place more than once during my stay in paje. At night, the service might be a bit slow but not too slow. I tried the beef burger and chocolate banana crepe. Prices are good. Portions are very satisfying and the taste was so good. Great vibes. Highly recommended. You can pay by card or cash.

🌴✨ Review: A Beachfront Dining Dream in Zanzibar ✨🌴 Dining here was nothing short of magical. The restaurant sits right on the beach, so every table comes with a front-row seat to the turquoise Indian Ocean and swaying palm trees. Whether you come for a lazy lunch under the sun or a romantic dinner with the sunset painting the sky, the views are absolutely unforgettable. The atmosphere is laid-back yet elegant — the kind of place where you can slip off your sandals, feel the sand under your feet, and completely relax while enjoying world-class food. Speaking of food: every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The seafood, especially, is a must-try — perfectly grilled, seasoned with local spices, and straight from the ocean to your plate. The service was outstanding: warm, attentive, and full of genuine island hospitality. You never feel rushed here; instead, you’re invited to slow down, sip a cocktail, and let the rhythm of Zanzibar carry you away. This isn’t just a meal; it’s an experience — a fusion of incredible flavors, breathtaking scenery, and the relaxed soul of Zanzibar. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A must-visit for anyone who wants to taste the island and fall in love with its beauty at the same time.

Mozaïk Restaurant Zanzibar offers a unique dining experience with its Turkish cuisine and charming Arabic-themed decor. Guests can enjoy a variety of mezze and mains, such as saffron chicken and Turkish kofte, in a relaxed environment where they can take off their shoes and sit on the floor. The restaurant's attentive service and inviting atmosphere make it perfect for an intimate dinner or a leisurely meal.
Such a nice place! The food is delicious! We always ordered a variety of starters and everything was amazing and was prepared so quickly! It’s a bit pricey but absolutely worth it! The waiters are very nice and helpful! The atmosphere may be the best part, you’re sitting on the floor with small tables and cushions, there are also normal tables tho. This is probably my favorite place in Paje and it’s gonna be the first one I’ll go to if I ever come back to Paje!

I love when I get surprised by a place and that was the case at Mozaik! The food was AMAZING and the staff so welcoming. Wish I discovered this place sooner so I could come back again! We tried this entree called mezze platter creation that was a bit of every entree and I can’t recommend enough :)

4-Star Review: Mozaik is a good spot to try different foods while in Zanzibar. The menu offers a nice variety, and the experience was generally pleasant. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the Turkish coffee I was looking forward to, which was a bit disappointing. Other than that, it was an okay experience overall. Worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Very friendly service, with a gorgeous, comfy atmosphere. The floor seating was so fun, but I think they also have higher tables & chairs if you prefer. There were so many vegetarian & vegan options, and everything was delicious! The drinks were super unique & refreshing too. Highly recommend for a romantic night out or a fun night with friends.

Location: Right in the center of Paje, not far from the beach or bus stop. Service: Great. Attentive, communicative, and efficient. Food: I am not extremely big fan of fried cheese rolls in general, but here I got them based on recommendation from the owner - it was excellent! The best! I would love to eat it again!! Chicken - i would say it tastes like something “made at home”. Nice, not excessive flavours, simple but tasty. Drinks: Lime lemonade - I loved it!! Ayran - good but I would suggest to ask a customer if it should be with ice or without Atmosphere: Lovely. Peaceful. It is very comfy to sit on the floor, and just chill while eating. 👏🏽

Mozaik has been open for a few months but this was my first visit. It’s a nicely styled restaurant with low tables, cushions for seats and an Arabic theme. The menu is Turkish cuisine and comes with a pretty good range of mezze and mains. The food was great and the Turkish tea was excellent. We chilled out there for around 4 hours which is testament to the lovely surroundings and atmosphere. Will definitely return!

It's absolutely the cutest place in Paje. Unassuming from outside. Walking to the back room is such a sweet surprise, just like cheese rolls with honey. The drinks are unique. I only rated the food 3 stars bc i really only had appetizers, which was good but not an entire meal i could sink my teeth into. Remember to take your shoes off at the door. And relax all you want. This place is inviting and cozy.

The food is simply amazing! The best vegan food around Paje/Jambiani! Food is fresh and very tasty! We ate there several times during our stay here! Also tried one yoga class there, but didn't go again. I have practised yoga for over 10 years, and experienced all kinds of yoga styles on different teachers' classes. This is something i've never experienced, and for sure not in a good way. One lady even took a cigarette break during the class, which is something i've never witnessed in my life! You find better teachers around the area, they will cost more, but they are educated and know what they are doing. But for food i highly recommend this place!

Paje By Night is a laid-back hotel located near the beach in Paje, Zanzibar. It's just a short walk from the ocean and close to popular attractions like Paje Beach and Kite Centre Zanzibar. The hotel offers an outdoor pool, spa services, and bicycles for rent. Accommodation includes well-appointed bungalows with access to an outdoor swimming pool and free private parking.
I checked out today and I needed to make a Review. Our 9-day-stay was absolutely amazing! We stayed in Bungalow No. 11 and every day around noon it was thoroughly cleaned and the bed beautifully decorated with rose petals. Each evening, the staff made sure to clear the room of mosquitoes, which was such a thoughtful touch. I had read some negative reviews about the food before coming, but I can only assume that must have been from the past because the food now is exceptionally good. We ate 7 nights in house. We felt incredibly comfortable throughout our stay. Martin and the entire staff, both the men and women were funny, kind, interested and extraordinarily helpful. Such a lovely and charming team! The massage and yoga sessions were fantastic as well. Very, very tropical environment. Compared to other resorts, it was pleasantly calm here with minimal wind, which we really appreciated. It only took a minute to walk to the windy beach, where we booked a 5-day kiteboarding course at "Paje by Kite". Another highlight is the 24-hour convenience store located right at the entrance, which was super handy and we found non alcoholic beer there, which is totally rare on the island. All in all, this place is a gem, and we’d love to come back! Laura & Marlon

I reached out privately to enquire about yoga classes and was surprised by how defensive and unprofessional the communication became. Instead of a friendly or informative reply, I was met with excuses about visa and permit costs ..which really isn’t something a paying visitor should have to justify or even hear about. I travel often and join yoga classes around the world. I’m happy to pay fair prices when the energy and professionalism align with what yoga represents: calm, awareness, and humility. Unfortunately, the tone here felt the opposite. I hope the studio reflects on how they communicate with guests, because first impressions matter especially in a community built around mindfulness and presence.

Joseph O — Google review
I booked several nights in February 2024. The place felt abandoned. I had booked it as it mentioned yoga in its name. Yet, when I arrived the owner told me that it was at the end of the season and therefore there was no yoga. I had booked some kite rental in advance, yet they could not really reserve any material as it was peak high season. Who should I believe? Otherwise, it was a really hot period, yet the AC only kicked in around 1 AM. (There was note about it, but nearby hotels did not have that problem). Ok no yoga, no kite, let’s go to the swimming pool? It’s kind of dirty, abandoned, with the pool sides broken (beware toddlers) and flocks of birds use as their own pool, leaving their feathers as souvenirs. It might have been a nice place, but they really need to pull it together. The rooms also are quite humid (smell) and could need some ventilation. If you don’t mind all of this, the food is good and the position is great very near to the beach and a great kite school that could rent material.

I had big expectations. That is what I typically do when the prices are sky high. But I left with a bitterness in my mouth after getting bread with mold. The same bread was served to everybody around me. Disgusting!

This is best restaraunt on the beach around. Managed by European couple with serious faces. Very delicious meals of good size. We liked it.

We visited the restaurant twice so far. The food, at least some dishes, are simply delicious. Feta cheese mousse is incredible. (Another slice of bread would be welcome!) Sword fish is amazing, love at first sight. Potato was also well prepared. Beef samosas are simply a must. The stuff is nice and friendly. There is a potential to develop English further. P. S. The first time we were served the dish we did not ask for. Grilled Calamari steak is okay, but just okay. Rice was over cooked. Tapas with chicken is okay, but chicken had a weird taste. Smooties are nice. Chocolate desert was also good. Sword fish I would love to eat again 😋

A very nice adress in Paje ! The food is really great, the experienced chief knows a lot about cooking, he is creative and friendly. I recommend the Burger and Fries, the meat is steep in spices, the cabbage and onions are finely cut and the bread is not a cheap industrial bread. Fries are simply the best on island, warm, tender and crispy with a great add of herbs and curry, no frozen potatoes it’s fresh and simply yummy. A very different taste and menu of what you find usually on island. The restaurant is very clean, they serve fast, the waitress is smiling and professional. The price are fair for quality of the food and kindness of owners ! I will eat there again, thanks a lot 💛

Luciana Restaurant, located in Paje Beach, is a popular spot known for its delicious regional cuisine and excellent reviews on TripAdvisor. The eatery is named after Luciana, the owner, who is known for her nurturing hospitality. Visitors praise the homemade dishes made with heart and emphasize the authentic flavors of the region. Great great experience. The owner was welcoming. She recommended places to visit. Highly recommend.

We had a great seafood meal at Luciana Restaurant. The calamari and octopus were perfectly cooked and served with vegetables and homemade fries. Simple, fresh, and tasty! The staff was okay — overall a nice place to enjoy a local seafood dinner.

Best food in Paje. Great prices. Nice and kind staff. Beautiful view of the ocean. Everything 10/10. 🤩

We were greeted on the beach, very friendly and decided to give it a try. We walked up a sand footpath to the restaurant which was very beautiful. If you sit on the top floor, you have a nice sea breeze. The food was delicious and full of flavor. The octopus was very tender, had a lot of flavor and was very tasty. We were pleasantly surprised. The service was very good and they were very friendly.

One of the best restaurant in Zanzibar. The chicken wrap was amazing. Very reccomended.
Michele B — Google review
We just left Luciana's after having the best meal so far in Zanzibar. All four of us loved our food and the avocado shake, banana shake and mixed fruit smoothie. My younger son had grilled red snapper and it was just excellent. The avocado salad was fresh and super tasty. I had the local spinach and bean curry and really enjoyed it. Luciana told us the spices are freshly ground daily and fish straight from local fishermen. We initially went there to support 100% locally owned and female business and now we will go back again to try the seafood platter because we know it will be good:-) Was really nice to meet you Luciana and your cousin the chef who trained to be a chef in Stone Town. See you soon:-)

I just had a meal at this place, and I ordered an grilled octopus. I'll keep it brief - it was increnible ! I've never had anything tastier on this coastline, despite visiting many restaurants. This local cuisine truly amazed me. Even though we stayed at the front Hotel, you can't compare their kitchen to this one. This is an excellent spot. Enjoy

Al Casbah in Stone Town offers a delightful evening with its tender and flavorful lamb cuscous. This restaurant stands out from others in the area, as it boasts a stylish ambience. The owner, Sherif, demonstrates great passion for both the food and his establishment. For those seeking a pleasant dining experience in Stone Town, Al Casbah is highly recommended. The owner's friendliness and attentiveness to all patrons contribute to the overall enjoyment of the meal.
Fantastic experience from the moment I locked eyes on the restaurant! I was greeted by the hard working staff and the owner, shown the beautiful interior and kitchen, then given the most wholesome, detailed description of the food - more detailed than any restaurant I've ever been to. There's a backstory and particular attention to detail everywhere, from the ingredients in the food to the music to the wooden frames on the wall. I love food, and I love a good food experience, and this was 10/10 for both. Thank you for the full belly, warm welcome, and great conversation!

The best place for having a dinner that I have been during my holiday in Zanzibar! The food was astonishing… The freshness and the quality of the food were on a high level, for real!! I recommend you to try the Meat balls there and also the dish named “Dolma” with beef, cinnamon and etc. The owner of the place was such a friendly and open-minded guy!!! I’m unexpectedly pleasantly surprised!🤩 Everything was perfect, I highly recommend the place!😊

Such a lovely experience! The lamb tajeen was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and perfectly cooked. I tried the couscous from my friend’s plate and it was just as incredible. I also had the chocolate cake and truly loved it, the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The owner was so kind and welcoming, which made the whole visit even better. After almost a month in Zanzibar, this has truly been the best meal I’ve had. Highly recommended!

The reviews speak for themselves but I’m very happy to write another to amplify this incredible gem in Paje. My partner (French-Algerian) and I passed by this restaurant on the main road and were so charmed to see an Algerian flag outside. We obviously had to visit to investigate ourselves! We were greeted by Cherif, who is a larger than life personality and quickly became a fast friend. The interior and design are all simply stunning, each detail hand-selected by Cherif himself. Cherif took the time to show us around and explain each dish. We settled on the mix platter, lamb couscous, and chocolate decadence and samsa for a sweet ending. Everything was incredible, so rich in flavor. The staff were all funny, attentive and sweet. Even the music was fire (everyone was Shazam-ing every track). What a memorable experience for us. Easily the best restaurant in Zanzibar (and for me, personally, the best North African meal I’ve ever had); don’t sleep on it! Merci beaucoup / shukran kteer from Medy and Norah

This place is wonderful. The restaurant owner himself came to meet us, and the service was quick and efficient. The food was just fabulous, and the place has a really good vibe to it. We took the photos halfway into the meal, so it doesn't look as good as it did at the beginning. 😅

Ohhh man what a restaurant, amazing food, fresh, tasty and such a great experience. The owner was great, polite, funny and very hospitable. I think we tried everything on the menu… must try if you visit Zanzibar ❤️
Shabaz K — Google review
Firstly we were greeted so warmly by the staff and the owner also, we were given a detailed explanation of the menu and were assured that all the ingredients are fresh. The food did not disappoint at all we had the lamb tajine, kofta and lamb cous cous as well as an assortment of starters which were all amazing especially the borek! The restaurant has a very comfortable and homely vibe, service was really fast and we were not left waiting for long at all, we feel on average the waiting times for food in Zanzibar are really long so we were pleasantly surprised at how fast the food came! Owner is also very welcoming and lovely, could not recommend this restaurant enough, try this Algerian food you will be glad :)

Oxygen is not just a restaurant, it's a vibrant venue for special events and exceptional dining experiences. With themed nights, live music performances, and unique culinary offerings, every visit promises to be memorable and exciting. The top-floor restaurant boasts stunning views, cozy ambiance, and delectable dishes like the Poke bowl and Lobster linguine. Additionally, their beach lounge hosts lively Wednesday parties with a fantastic atmosphere. The new hotel space offers stylish comfort in the prime location of Paje.
I would say I had even better food in Paje, but atmosphere in first floor sitting fantastic. I would recommend servers to be quicker, really long time waiting. And nobody takes care to ask to bring second round of drinks after finishing first round. General problem of majority restaurants at Paje

Thank you, hope to come again soon

I am just leaving my review for the restaurant. I had dinner there 2 times. The location is great, over the beach. Nice music and service. You can pay by card or cash but in case of paying by card, you pay extra %, around 5% (don’t remember exactly). They have another advantage that their kitchen is open till after 9.30 pm as some of the restaurants in Paje close their kitchen by 9.30 pm. Delicious food. Average prices.

Your hotel is spectacular, but the security needs urgent improvement and review. During my stay, someone tried to enter my room through the window, which made me feel very unsafe. As a solo traveler, I believe this is a critical issue

Blue Doors is a charming spot in Paje with a fantastic view. The service is good and the food, such as masai mishkhaki and kuku na chipsy, is very enjoyable. Although some dishes could use more salt, it's not a major issue. The place offers a slow but excellent service, so it's advisable to order before getting too hungry. Additionally, the restaurant provides a variety of freshly made dishes including pizza baked in a wood oven and coconut crusted chicken.
Service is excellent but slow. Make your order before you get hungry and enjoy a drink right on the beach with a beautiful view. Food is great, something for everyone! Everything is made from scratch - pizza dough and bread all prepared and baked on the premises. Pizza is baked on a wood oven. Coconut crusted chicken is delicious and original!

We were there when they had a live band. Ordered pizza (no taste) and whole fish (tiny little fish). Beach location. Very poorly lit, we used mobile light to read the menu. But we had a nice time so all is well. No comment about the band. Medium priced.

Nice cozy place, with great view-like many others in Paje. Service good, food was very nice, it could have been more salty, but thats not a big problem. We had masai mishkhaki and kuku na chipsy, three sodas and we pay 51000tsz. Little bit strange was that we get the bill without asking it, no option for desserts :D I will return and enjoy more food from this place.

It's a little bit off the road, but a true hidden gem. Nice atmosphere and great food. The staff are nice and helpful. My wife had the pancakes and I had the falafel salad and the green dhaal soup which was delicious and did wonders to my inflamed throat (had pharyngitis which is how we landed on this restaurant looking for a place that served soup , and we're happy that we did), definitely would come back again and highly recommend. Lecker Lecker Restaurant is a hidden gem located near Bucaneers Diving. It's not directly on the beach, but it offers delicious food and friendly service. Despite being a bit hard to find, stumbling upon this place on a Friday night was worth it as they set up tables on the beach. The restaurant is known for its tasty dishes and accommodating staff. While not situated right by the sea, it's still worth visiting as it provides great value for money.
Highly recommend! Delicious food, fast service, nice staff and great ambiance - especially the upstairs seating area. We had lunch here multiple times during our stay in Paje and will definitely return ☺️🌴

Had an amazing experience at Mr. Lecker Lecker – hands down the best seafood I had in Paje. Everything was incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and very affordable compared to other spots in the area. The team is super friendly, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do. If you're in Paje and love seafood, this place is a must-try. Thank you Mr. Lecker Lecker and team

Best food we've had in Paje!! After searching for good local food for 2 days we finally found it at Lecker Lecker. We had the Grilled Zanzibar Spice Chicken and Octopus Curry, both were flavorful and well seasoned. The food took about 30 minutes to arrive but well worth the wait and the staff were very friendly. Highly recommend!!

Myself and my husband decided to go here as the reviews were great. When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendliest man who chatted with us and laughed with us. Getting the food was a little ‘pole pole’ (slowly) but it was worth the wait as it was delicious and very filling. The prices were excellent too. Highly recommend the Zanzibar pizza.
Diane H — Google review
One of the better options on the island. The place is a bit hidden if you're not coming from the beach. If you're coming when it's a mid day it can be hot. The menu is vast. The masala chips were great, but the veggie burger wasn't that great, make sure to pick the right stuff or ask the waitress, they're really friendly. The drinks were a different level, must try!
Hristijan P — Google review
Very simple traditional eating place with good food. The price is extremely fair. We had calamary fritters and spinach curry with zanzibar bread and both tasted really delicious. I especially love the sauce that came with the calamary.
Valya A — Google review
I recommande the restaurant if you wanna eat good, local and less expensive than the restaurant front beach. We had grilled calamari with rice, salad and a bowl of a curry sauce and a fish curry with rice and salad plus a mango smoothie ! The curry sauce was delicious with a lot of flavors, the calamari was well cooked but the mango smoothie was just so so … but I was told that we are in the mango season now. The place is not far from Paje beach and in walking distance from the main road, so not in a crowded area with farm animals passing by the restaurant ^^ The restaurant offers a variety of local dishes including of course all kind of seafood.

Nestled just across from the Tembo Hotel, Fisherman Jungle Restaurant and Accommodation invites you into a charming space adorned with thick white walls and vibrant blue tables. The decor beautifully blends Zanzibari and Mediterranean influences, featuring fishing nets and crab boxes that evoke a coastal vibe. Seafood lovers will find themselves in paradise here, as the menu is heavily focused on ocean delights.
I see few people complaining about slow service. This mean they are cooking directly, to give you fresh cooked meal, not give you something cooked one day before. And even more the first rule in Zanzibar is "pole pole". It tooks maybe 30-40 min, but i don't complaine, it worth. Very tasty. I recommend it!
Marian R — Google review
The food was good but it took about 40 minutes to be served and there was only one other table. We had chicken curry and coconut beans. Came back again and had the fisherman bucket (pictured) which is good value (25k). The seating is a little awkward as you have to bend down to the table to eat - would be fine if you’re getting something like a sandwich. Prices on the cheaper side compared to other Paje restaurants, particularly along the beach.

Fresh tasty food for reasonable price. I ordered sea food platter or something like that (octopus, prawns & calamari) and fresh pineapple juice and both was delish.
Ivana B — Google review
I recently visited the fisherman restaurant to sample their cuisine and provide an honest assessment of my experience. Unfortunately, my visit left me disappointed. The food was not up to par with my expectations. The dish I ordered, in particular the fish, was dry and lacked any notable seasoning or creativity. The overall taste and presentation did not meet the standards I would expect. Moreover, the service was sluggish and the meal took longer than expected to arrive. I understand that good food and timely service are the cornerstones of a great dining experience. However, it is worth mentioning that the price of the meal was reasonable given the quality of the food. In conclusion, while the cost was fair, the food and service were not up to the mark.

My second visit there I ordered takeaway, they gave me the wrong order. Seems the waiter didn't understand me. I ordered BEEF PILAU. He asked if I wanted chips or rice. I said rice (because pretty sure pilau is always rice). He certainly charged me pilau price. Got back to the hotel it was grilled beef skewers and chips. Tried calling many times and sent WhatsApp message to try to get them to correct it and send delivery, but they don't answer the phone and no reply in WhatsApp. English comprehension is a huge problem in Tanzania. But instead of telling you they don't understand or aren't clear, they proceed as if everything is ok then bring the incorrect thing. Shame on me for not checking but this was already after waiting 20 minutes for preparation and wanted to get back to the hotel. Mistakes happen but they didn't reply on WhatsApp or answer the phone, so can't get any remedy without doing a credit card charge back or drive back to Paje again (bit far from my hotel). The pic is what they gave me after ordering beef pilau. Owner replied here to a combined review I had from 2 visits and 100% ignored this problem, so deleted and will only post the bad experience. I would appreciate a reply in WhatsApp or I'll file a credit card charge back as soon as it posts to my account.

Great atmosphere, food was amazing, food could take a little time to be served but 100% worth the wait! I think the prices are super reasonable! I had the Green banana stew and we had the skewers too!

Great, affordable food in Paje! We loved the samosas, chicken wrap, and the beef skewers. Great service too. Thank you!

The food is authentic, tasty and fresh. The atmosphere is lively but the seating can get cramped at times. The prices are very affordable. Definitely take a visit if you are in the Paje area. It's opened 24 hours too!

Very nice local restaurant with local food. We’ve been there 3 times and always we were more or less happy with the food. Sometimes you have to wait long for the dishes, but pole pole. In the meantime you can dring some fresh juice or beer. My best - green banana beef stew and pilau - very cheep and tasty

Okay-ish! Its a unique atmosphere, with a wide range of visitor including both locals and tourists. We came here for lunch and we order a curry fish and a fish stake. The fish stake was burned and dry, making it really tasteless and the curry dish was nice but fish inside the meal was again not good. When we went there(around 3pm) they were out of some dishes already. Also, despite the restaurant being empty, it took quite a lot of time (even for Zanzibar scale) for us to receive our meals. Service was fine staff could pay a bit more attention to the customer!

Not a safe place for tourists or families. I visited this place based on a ChatGPT recommendation, expecting a local food experience. To my surprise, this was not a typical restaurant it felt more like a pub or bar, with a very unsafe atmosphere for foreign tourists and families. There was a disturbing scene of an intoxicated Asian woman in the arms of three young Masai men, which immediately raised red flags. The entire place smelled heavily of toxic substances and marijuana. We decided to pay and leave without eating. This is not a place I would recommend to anyone seeking a safe, clean, and respectful dining environment.

O KAMI SUSHI DHOW INN HOTEL is a charming hidden gem that promises an exceptional sushi experience in a cozy and inviting ambiance. The sushi here is a standout, made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and presented beautifully. Guests rave about the unique flavors and freshness of the fish. The menu offers plenty of fusion sushi options as well as more traditional choices, all prepared by friendly chefs who are open to customizing orders.
The best sushi ever !!!! I couldn’t believe it I had most amazing tasting experience with sushi in Zanzibar!!! This guy is so passionate about making sushi that you can taste it in every bite!!!! Thanks you so much

Beautiful place close on the beach with surprisingly good sushi. Decent priced, too. Been here three nights during holidays, mostly for Sushi, but they have a fair selection of other dishes, and a well stocked bar. Oh, and a pool table. My fav restataurant in Paje after two weeks here. Recommended

Delicious fresh sushi and interesting sushi burgers brought directly to the beach in an amazing location with friendly staff. The reputation as a special sushi place on this little island is definitely well deserved! The price is close to European standards, but you get what you pay for and the view and atmosphere are priceless.

One of the best sushi’s I have ever tried!!! Sushi… oh, I swear it is one the best I have ever tried, and I tried a lot, all over the world! Flavours are so different and unique! Fish is fresh and tasty! Sushi burger is something you should not skip: Absolutely the best! I was thinking that sushi burger will be kind of small, but when I got it I understood why the chef told me it could be quite filling 😹. It is good that he recommended to bring it at the end 😹. I didn’t choose my sushi, I let the chef Mr Maciej choose for me. I am so happy I did that way!! Mr Maciej asked me if I have any allergies, anything that I don’t like, he said that he can even adapt sushi to my personal taste, it doesn’t have to be exactly as in the menu. I think that’s super great, as sometimes there might be some ingredient that you don’t like so leaving you an option to replace it with something else makes this whole experience unique and personalised! My friend went to the restaurant few days after me and he was equally amazed! Location: It is right next to the beach, in the center of Paje. The restaurant is part of the hotel but you can come there no matter if you are staying or not in the hotel. I can’t wait to go to Zanzibar and eat it again!! I would come just for this restaurant, as long as the chef is the same! 😄

An exceptional sushi experience! The freshest fish, expertly crafted into both traditional nigiri and innovative rolls, offers a sublime taste journey. Attentive service and a serene ambiance enhance the dining experience, making it perfect for both casual and special occasions. Highly recommended for any sushi enthusiast!

Great sushi. Got the 9 plate sushi with 36 pieces and special roll. Tuna and king fish were especially good Drinks were ok. Mango margarita. A little light and tasted like they added rum? The place is nice but it’s a more relaxed eating vibe with sofa and low tables instead of dining settings. Unless u want to eat in sun without shade. We overlooked what looked like an in manicured open sand parking lot where people would use to commute from homes to beach and shops. Not that nice of a view. But it was entertaining watching kids do flips off a tire.

Best sushi 🍣 in Zanzibar I made reservations for my wife and I and ask Angelika to please ask the chef 👨‍🍳 to prepare sushi 🍣 for us, but it's our honeymoon and would like something special and he didn't disappoint at all 😊 Will recommend O Kami Sushi anytime to anyone who would love the best sushi 🍣 ever. Friendly staff members and friendly chef that came and congratulated us on our honeymoon and gave us 4 sushi 🍣 rolls for free also 😋 Keep up the great service and friendly smiles on your faces.

Chamu Restaurant is a hidden gem in Paje, Zanzibar, offering the best seafood experience. Despite its unassuming exterior, this restaurant surprises diners with its fresh and aromatic dishes that capture the real taste of Zanzibar. The grilled octopus and calamari are particularly outstanding, accompanied by flavorful mashed potatoes and amazing sauces. Visitors recommend trying the catch of the day dish for its freshness and deliciousness, as well as the tuna tartar and vegetable spring rolls.
The food was very tasty, reasonably priced, but the wait is a bit too long (1h30/45min, we were 4 people in total in the restaurant); the appearance is not very welcoming, but is a safe place to eat a good lunch/dinner.

5 stars overall, although our food (sea food platter) came not really at the right temperature, it was a little bit cold. The fries were hot though. Reasonable prices.

Fantastic local place. Wonderful seafood and others. We had a nice chat with the owner. Tuna tartar was delicious as well as grilled octopus and local octopus curry. Highly recommended place. Fresh food, local vibe and very friendly people. Greets to Chamu!

Absolutely delicious food!! We had the tuna tartar, avocado salad and lobster with chips. All were amazing. Very friendly and welcoming staff. 100/10. Thank you!!

The food was amazing. I ordered grilled lobster with mashed potatoes and it was very fresh and tasty! The restaurant workers are really nice. They also served fresh vegetables for me off the menu. The only criticism would be that I had to wait for about 35 minutes to get my meal (the restaurant was empty)

Absolute gem in Paje! The lady running the restaurant was very attentive, helpful and provided us with immaculate service. The place offers great food and very affordable cost. We tried tuna tartare, grilled octopus, vegetable curry, grilled calamaris. Food was absolutely delicious, hence why we return twice there. As food has been prepared fresh, there is obviously a bit of wait time. We’ve also experienced there twice live music with very talented young chap playing guitar and singing. Highly recommended place for local and authentic Zanzibari cuisine.

Very good and fresh food, and the quality versus price compared to the hotels on Zanzibar is unbeatable. Even is not on the main road, it’s worth take a bajaj and come visit it!😉

100% eat at this place. Best place for food so far in Zanzibar. The food is gorgeous. The inside of the restaurant is nothing fancy, but do NOT be afraid of this. I promise you the food is great, and it makes you realise you that are you eating from locals in the middle of a village in the middle of an African country. Amazing. The staff are friendly, and it is run by a local family. Everything was absolutely fine. A clean table cloth, friendly staff, friendly child playing who I decided to buy a football for from one of the stalls, and lovely smelling diffusers to sway away any mosquitos. Would 100% recommend this place.

An outstanding experience! I was thoroughly impressed with this seafood restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, perfectul cooked, and full of flavor. On top of that, the staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional, which greatly enhanced the overall atmosphere. The cleanliness of the restaurant was impeccable, something I highly value. I will definitely return and recommend this place to my friends and family. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Food is very nice. Cooked to order so there is a LONG wait. Best meals we had. We ate there twice. No complaints. I still think about the food. As a group we had the fish curry Grilled prawns Lobster The sides were good: grilled vegetables/ fries/ rice and the garlic butter was omg so tasty. Everyone enjoyed it and we all came back. Great hot sauce made by the chef. It’s dusty in there, they need to wipe the tables when they seat you and also the surety/ silverware. That’s the only part we didn’t like. That’s due to the restaurant being outside and the windows not being closed.

The best seafood in Zanzibar , I’ve been here for almost one week and we tried many seafood places but this restaurant has been surpassed my expectations. Friendly staff, amazing atmosphere and very well trained chef. Architecture is beyond words ❤️👏🏻👏🏻

Seafood Heaven offers an exceptional dining experience with beautifully presented dishes and incredibly fresh products. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring great service throughout the meal. My only suggestion would be to speed up the service a bit. Though, the overall experience remains nearly perfect. Do note there's a 3% commission for card payments. I recommended!

Excellent dining experience. We went in with no expectations and came out beaming, having over eaten. Best seafood value for money in Paje. No alcohol served inside, but you can order takeaway. They suggested that we could bring our own bottle, but we chose to respect the places' rules. Highly recommend...

This was the best place I tried on whole Zanzibar! Grilled lobster meal was so tasty and tuna ceviche also. Not only that but fair prices (not expensive) and service was amazing. Whole dining experience was lovely. Delicious food which matched the beautiful presentation of each course. Well trained and attentive staff. The only reason not five star review is we feel curtains would give a bit of privacy, block a bit of noise from the traffic. Suggestion to have a couch at the front so we can wait for takeaways. All in all great evening. PS look forward to the third course addition in the future...aka simple desserts Thank you.

I thoroughly enjoyed the cuisine at Swahili Fish Restaurant and plan to return. The fish soup, octopus, and mango, tomato, and avocado salad are highly recommended. Unlike other establishments in Paje that cater to tourists with inflated prices and subpar food, this restaurant offers local prices. It quickly became my favorite place to dine during my stay in Paje. Additionally, the restaurant's unique feature is its sandy floor that creates a beach-like ambiance.
Very delicious, everything was very fresh. The lobster was full of meat. The prices are quite low and the quality of food is really high. It’s a very good place if u want to try something local.

Veggie roll was good but chili sauce was cheesy taste and not so good. The grilled octopus was heavily seasoned but degree of grilled was good and grilled smell was amazing! Staffs are very kind and nice!

DON'T GO THERE!!! I ordered a dish for 44.000 chelines, which the menu said came with lobster, prawns, octopus, fish, squid. To my surprise there was only a small amount of squid and a derisory amount of octopus, an weird fish and two minis shrimps. Of course if you pay 44.000, you want lobster and prawns!! Well, I called the waitress (who doesn't speak English) and asked: is that it?! where's the rest?! and she just said she only had squid and octopus! and I asked: and this will cost 44?! and she: yes! and besides not being what I asked for, the little that came was horrible! Looked like old good! I didn't even eat! I left a good part of the dish! But the bill came... and they charged me 44.000 for a dish of lobster and prawns without lobster and prawns! Anyway, I felt robbed! the people in this restaurant are dishonest thieves! I paid because I know it wouldn't do for anything to make a fuss, but I wanted to call the police! I took a picture of the menu and the "seafood dish". At Lecker Lecker restaurant I paid 35.000 (cheaper) and then the seafood dish really came with everything on the menu! Anyway, my only experience so far with dishonest people in Zanzibar! So don't go to that place! I would like to give 0 star!

Ciao Paje Pizza Napoletana is a must-visit for authentic Neapolitan pizza lovers. Situated in the Bento Food Court, this pizzeria offers freshly made pizzas at a quick pace. While they currently do not offer desserts, you can conveniently order through the Pole Pole food app for delivery to your accommodation. The restaurant provides free Wi-Fi and restroom facilities for its patrons.
Real Italian, delicious pizza made in Zanzibar. We are so impressed. We stayed at Paje for 3 nights and came here twice because we were craving pizza. Don’t hesitate if you are looking for a pizza joy 🍕
Uli U — Google review
Surprisingly, a very good Neapolitan pizza – and that on Zanzibar, in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Impressive what can be achieved with the right ingredients. However, there’s a point deduction for the incredibly long waiting time. PS: They use electric ovens, so it’s not 100% on par with an authentic Neapolitan pizza. Also, the pizza was nicely crispy and well-done, which is not typical for a traditional Neapolitan pizza. Conclusion: Absolutely recommended for a tourist spot!
Manuel S — Google review
Very nice place to hang out, it has a very relax environment. Altho it is by far not an authentic African place, as it is very European oriented, it is a great place for a pizza. The pizzas were by far the best pizza we’ve had in two weeks of Tanzania. The people are very friendly, the pizzas are a bit pricey but the ingredients they used were good. We would recommend this place! It is around 11$/28k shilling for a pizza.

Excellent pizza!! Ciao Paje Pizza is offering authentic Neapolitan pizza. The restaurant is located in the Bento Food Court. So if the taxi driver has no clue about Ciao Paje Pizza, just mention Bento. The pizzas are made fresh and very quickly! Unfortunately, they do not have any deserts currently :( If you want to order, make sure to download the Pole Pole food app and you can get it delivered to your hotel or apartment. Toilets and free wifi exist at this place. A lot of (only) outdoor seatings are available. A bar is also there with happy hour (6 to 8pm). I really highly recommend to visit this place if you are looking for an excellent pizza - it is worth it!!

Very good restaurant with Swahili dishes. we had as starter the octopus salad and the calamari with coconut as main the octopus curry and the green banana. Nice restaurant on the second floor with good food and a very friendly waiter. Unfortunately me and my wife were the only ones having dinner, while the woman was watching television with sound through the speaker which killed the vibe a little bit. The toilet was not the most proper one, but apart from that still a very positive experience.

Simple restaurant with good food and good servise. Catch of the day was octopus and it was cooked very well, soft and delicious. Served with chips and salad. Beef burger, Chicken sandwich and a salad were very good. Beer 5k, octopus 25k, burger 20k, sandwich 16k and salad 8k. In comparison to Mama Mia in Nungwi this restaurant makes far better food at better price. Will definitely return back. Thanks.

We got there late at night and we were very hungry. We made our order and while we waited we spoke with the manager who was very lovely. Moving forward, we then find out the car machine isn’t working and we didn’t have any cash or physical card just Apple Pay and 3% battery life!! We should have been informed of this from the start before we placed an order as being from Europe we don’t carry cash or physical card around much. We then get followed by one of the waiters while we search to try and get some money to pay which is a little weird. The waiter then tried to follow us back to our hotel and get up and personal while being rude telling us “this is not good” and “my boss won’t be happy” which I found diabolical. I have never experienced anything like this in my life. It’s not the customers fault that your restaurant made the food without letting us know the card machine wasn’t working and we shouldn’t feel like we are being forced to take it after as well. Absolutely ridiculous behaviour!!

The appearance of the samosas are deceiving. They’re actually the tastiest samosa’s I’ve ever had and I’ve eaten a lot of samosas! I would eat them without the sauce. It comes with 3, I just ate one before taking this photo. The carrot ginger soup was really good too. But let’s face it, I’m coming back today just for the samosas 😋 I just ate there again and brought my wife with me this time. I ordered a double order of samosas and it hit the spot, as well as another carrot ginger soup and the maharage. The maharage was also delicious! I think it would have been even better if I ordered it with rice instead of chips. I’m hoping I have time to come back again and try more things on the menu.

Absolutely magnificent! The best food we had in Zanzibar! Various choices and mouth watering flavors. We absolutely recommend this place! We kept on coming again and again

We had the pho and a burger. Both were good and a decent portion size. The food and menu felt healthy and was reasonably priced.

I ate there several times and was always satisfied. It's fresh, tasty and healthy. The portions are not too big but enough for one person.

Excellent! Great place the ambient is so beautiful just in front of the beach we took hamburgers and was amazing really tasty and the beer is really cold so it’s perfect and was so nice and kind! I really recommend this place

Stumbled across this restaurant by chance and so happy we did! It was some of the best food we tried in Paje, and you can’t beat the view. Their vegan options are limited (hopefully they expand their menu soon!) , but what they do have on offer is absolutely delicious. The mushroom bao buns and vegan shan tofu were incredible. If you’re wanting to relax with a coffee or cocktail, they have comfortable beanbags just for that.

Spent a day here during our Zanzibar vacation and wish we discovered it sooner! Would love to visit again! Great part of the beach.

My friend and I went to Nomad Beach Restaurant Paje for lunch and to relax by the beach. We ordered sea food and it was good and the staff were friendly. The view was also great, right by the beach with bean bag options to rest and tan. They also have a hammock under the shade. Highly recommended for lunch, dinner or just a snack by the beach.

Stopped in for some small bites and ice cream after walking along the beach. Drinks were delicious, food was fresh and fabulous, and the service was stellar. Highly recommend the papaya salad, pork dumplings, and the Thai cashew chicken w bao buns! Great happy hour specials as well.

Thats where we spent our vacation on daily basis for beaching 10 days in a row! Its truly a nice atmosphere and the food is soo good (we tried everything in their menu)! The personel is very kind and even played with our kids sometimes. The beach in front has been cleaned daily so the sand was perfect for playing on it. Thank you!

It's not perfect, but definitely the best run place at that corner. The food is good, although the size of sea food or fish can be bigger. Hence, you're hungry, go for noodles or lasagne. The service is good trained and friendly. That means you get what you have ordered and the food is served hot! The location is perfect anyway. The chair could be more convenient or at least a pillow would be nice.

This restaurant is an absolute gem! I had some of the best meals of my trip here. The atmosphere is relaxed and beachy – you can kick back with an ocean view and a nice breeze while you eat. The food is fresh, flavorful, and you can tell they put real care into every dish. They’ve got a great mix of local dishes and international options, so there’s something for everyone. I loved the seafood – everything was perfectly cooked and so tasty! The cocktails were a highlight, too – creative, refreshing, and just what you need to cool down in the Paje sun. The staff is super friendly and attentive, always ready with great recommendations. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re hanging out with friends. If you’re in Paje, you’ve got to check this place out! Perfect spot for a relaxed, delicious meal by the beach.

Ulu Dos Tres TACO is a vibrant pink hub located in Paje, Zanzibar, offering delicious vegan tacos and other Texas meets California-style Mexican food. The restaurant is known for its huge portions of super fresh vegan tacos and burritos made from scratch. It's an eco-chic spot that caters to both vegans and non-vegans, providing a great value with generous portions.
Amazing vegan taco takeout in Paje! Huge portions, super fresh they nailed the flavors. If you like California Mexican food (it’s not the same as from Mexico. It’s American Mexican style but it’s Tanzania owned and operated). Very cool story of how they got started you should ask when you go how they were inspired for the cuisine. I won’t spoil it for you. You can also order takeaway, we got a huge order for 14 people on New Year’s Eve delivered to our house. Perfect catering, everyone loved it and there was plenty left over. The homemade sauces are amazing! Try them all!
G B — Google review
Had the tacos and burrito, and we really enjoyed both. They are a takeaway place, but there are two tables, so if you want to eat on site you can. They’ll also make your order ahead of time if you WhatsApp them. It’s not far off the main road, and very easy to find with a mapping app.
Sarah P — Google review
Texas meets California-style Mexican food. Simply delicious! Everything is made from scratch. The burrito was a beast, but we couldn't leave a scrap behind. Idris takes his time to do it all very right. My husband had the tacos and those too were so fresh, with crunchy veg and sloppy guac. Just the way it should be. Can't recommend this place enough! 10/10. The vegan meat is just as good as the real thing... 💯👌😜 Huge portion at a good price!

We have been returning to Ulu and her husband's sweet restaurant - sometimes twice or three times a week since being here in Paje - and every meal has been delightful because you can taste the love in every dish - the yummy flavors, the generosity of portions and of course being able to enjoy a meal which is vegan and kind to all beings. Highly recommend.

2nd visit to Ulu dos tres and will be back for a 3rd before we head home! Ran by the nicest local people! Fresh and healthy Mexican food for a very reasonable price! Super filling. Also loved by my partner who usually wouldn’t be caught in a vegan restaurant which says a lot. A must visit in Paje! Will be a meal we dream about for sure. 10/10

When I first came to the restaurant, I was a little disappointed that it was vegan cause I really wanted to eat some heavy meaty tacos. But as soon as I put the tacos in my mouth, I changed my mind because it was so delicious and the very spicy chili sauce maximized the taste and I really enjoyed ! + The people there were super nice

The Nest Boutique Resort in Paje offers luxurious 5-star beachfront accommodation with a fitness center, garden, and terrace. The resort features a restaurant, bar, and tennis court. Guests praise the beautiful pool and tranquil relaxation area surrounded by lush gardens. The restaurant provides an oceanfront dining experience with live music in the evenings. Visitors are impressed by the attentive staff who go above and beyond to cater to special dietary needs and create memorable experiences such as surprise birthday celebrations on the beach.
The Nest Boutique Resort, Paje - A Cozy Paradise in Zanzibar! 🌿 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Today is my fifth day at The Nest, and I can confidently say, this place is pure magic. Just like its name, it truly feels like a nest, warm, safe, and full of love. From the moment I arrived, I felt like a little bird being cared for by the most loving “mother birds” the incredible staff! 💛 The hospitality is unmatched. Breakfast officially ends at 10, but we were served even at 1 PM with the sweetest smiles, because they truly care about their guests. The breakfast options are great, especially for someone like me who avoids pork and beef. The croissant sandwich is a must-try, the pancakes are delicious, and every dish felt freshly made with love. ✨ Mona at the front desk made our stay feel like home, her warmth and kindness left such a deep impression. And then there’s the owner, such a sweet soul. She’s present, warm, and genuinely invested in making everyone feel welcome. The Maasai staff are incredibly respectful and friendly. They even take their three puppies for walks, and during that time, they happily chat with you and let you play with the dogs. It’s such a beautiful and personal touch! The property itself is clean and calm, with nature all around. The pool area is lovely, with swings. Our room was designed like a tropical hut, and the bathroom was a dream, the bathtub, basin, and shower were all so unique. Every day the staff created different towel art and decorated the room with flowers. And when you shower, you can hear nature all around, see birds, and sometimes spot monkeys. It’s like living in the middle of a gentle, loving jungle. And while having breakfast, the background playlist is just perfect, calm, soulful music mixed with the sound of chirping birds and ocean breeze. It creates such a peaceful vibe that you never want to leave. This place stole my heart. I’m excited to return soon, to see the property after renovations and to once again live like a little bird in this beautiful nest. 🐦🌴

The only positive thing about the hotel is the that it’s good for taking pictures, but rather than this everything else is bad. I don’t see it as a 5 stars hotel as it has many problems. The room is not clean , our bed sheets are stained. The room is missing many essential things like slippers, ear cotton ,tooth brushes and water kettle. the hotel’s restaurant is very very bad. It only offers vegetarian food . Stating that it’s a 5 stars hotel , there should be variety of options. Mind you that it’s very high priced. and the quality of the food is bad. we tried both breakfast and dinner both were bad and it takes them more than 30 mints to bring you your order. We came here for our honeymoon and requested them to prepare the room for that ,they didn’t do anything. The internet connection is bad and the electricity went off 5 times within the day The hotel has potential but needs many improvements. I hope the hotel management takes these notes into consideration and improve their service.

This place is a disaster. First of all the place is filthy, cleaning is not a priority there. The rooms are very dirty and they smell so disgusting. The bed sheets were stained. There was no coffee/ tea bar and there was 2 empty water bottles. The bathroom was very dirty. They know nothing about professionalism. Someone came to our room knocking when we were sleeping, he was looking for his manager. We paid over 800$ per night and got terrible service. They had to clean the room and we had to wait until 10:30pm when we were very tired. Food was so bad, they were out of everything. The attached videos are part of what’s outside of my room. I wish I took more pictures.

Such a peaceful getaway! Loved the sunrise meditation by the beach and exploring the hidden spots on island trips. Everything felt relaxing and well-planned.
Irlan S — Google review
We had booked a 2 night stay here. When we entered our room at night around 11pm, we discovered that our bed was filled with hundreds of termites and bedbugs. It was in no condition to sleep. There was no senior staff to manage the situation at night. After 30 minutes, a couple of housekeeping guys came running, but were of no real help saying that half the hotel was under maintenance. Our whole vacation was ruined. We had to change hotels at 2.00am and the next day no one was picking our calls at the hotel. The entire next day just went in trying to contact any senior staff. When we did have a talk with the guest relation head Poki after relentlessly following up with the staff there - she just shrugged her shoulder and informed us that having hundreds of insects/termites in your bed is “just the part of the East African experience” and also how apparently she's from Germany but she also makes these adjustments so we should too. The guest relations head’s solution was to change the sheets and spray the mattress with bug spray when the mattress was filled with the bugs. She said and I quote “the bugs go away for a while and come back again after some hours, its just the experience here”. P.S. The hygiene standards for their linens and towels is also highly questionable.
Mehul C — Google review
I spent one day at this hotel with a day pass, and I am very glad I didn’t book a room here. Unfortunately, it was the worst experience I’ve had so far in Zanzibar. Right at the beach there are Massai constantly approaching guests, which makes it impossible to relax or enjoy any privacy. We asked for two towels but only received one, and even after asking again, we never got the second one. The food was disappointing, and the service in the restaurant was far from friendly. The pool is large, which is a positive aspect, but sadly it was full of dead insects. Overall, not a place I would recommend.
Emre E — Google review
We stayed one night in the one-bedroom villa and two nights in the tree house. The one-bedroom villas are connected, separated only by a door, which means that in addition to having no privacy, you can hear everything your neighbors do. We were unlucky enough to be next to neighbors who talked loudly until after midnight, and I simply had a terrible night's sleep. In addition, the open bathrooms are also right next to each other, so you can hear everything your neighbor does. I was taking a shower and my neighbor was in the bathroom, which was very uncomfortable and disgusting. The tree house also has no privacy or acoustics. The curtains in the room don't close, and the open bathroom is right in front of a construction site at the hotel, so I had to shower in a bikini every day. There are two resorts, one on each side of the hotel, and there are crazy parties until the early hours of the morning. In addition, the hotel is under renovation, which means there is constant construction noise during the day. In fact, when we were there, we couldn't even use the pool because it was so noisy and there were lots of men working around it. They have a lot of potential, but they need to fix this acoustics and privacy issue. On the other hand, Paje beach is beautiful, the hotel is in a good location, close to restaurants, Paje village, and grocery stores. The idea of the hotel itself is really cool, the idea of making a nest. The villas are super cute, the tree house is really cool and different. The staff is very attentive, the hotel restaurant is very good.

I went to The Nest for breakfast and decided to try the smoothie bowl. On the menu it was described as mango/banana or avocado/banana with various toppings. However, when it arrived, I immediately thought it looked a bit off…and once I tasted it, it got even worse. I asked in the kitchen what exactly was in it and to my surprise, they told me it contained milk. Nowhere on the menu was that mentioned. As someone who is lactose intolerant, this is completely unacceptable. Such information should be clearly communicated to guests, both for dietary and health reasons.

Simple restaurant in Paje (not local cuisine, rather Turkish). Overall taste was decent, we had grill platter which was tasteful and filling. Also we had stewed chicken with potatoes, quite good (reminded me of my childhood in some way). Staff is really friendly and nice, owner (Turkish guy) is a little “shady” as we left our waiter a tip, but unfortunately, owner put it in his pocket (I hope it just appeared like). In general simple place to eat if you are around. 8/10

During my recent adventure, I stumbled upon Jamzibar™, a delightful Jamaican restaurant in Paje that turned out to be a hidden gem. The atmosphere was vibrant, with sweet reggae tunes setting the perfect backdrop as I enjoyed the refreshing evening breeze while dining outdoors. While waiting for our meals, we were invited to play games like dominoes, which added an extra layer of fun to the experience. The owner was incredibly engaging and shared fascinating stories that made us feel right at home.
If you’re looking for a unique, soulful, and unforgettable experience in Zanzibar, JAMZIBAR Jamaican Restaurant in Paje is an absolute must—I can’t recommend it enough! Visiting from the U.S. for my very first trip, I was invited by my niece for a special wedding vow renewal, and one of the highlights was a private dining experience at JAMZIBAR with her amazing friends—who I now proudly call family. A special Jamaican buffet was prepared outdoors for our large group, and it was phenomenal: perfectly spiced jerk chicken and shrimp, savory red beans, flavorful fish, and vegan brownies that were unbelievably good. Every dish was bursting with authentic Jamaican flavor and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was equally unforgettable. The staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive, and the venue was spotless and stunning—featuring a beautiful outdoor space ideal for weddings, plus plenty of indoor room for dancing. The owner—is a true gentleman and scholar and vinyl maestro, kept the energy high and the music flowing all night long.

Visited on 8/18/25 after finding restaurant on my search for food near me . Last night we took a tuk tuk from Jambiami and had dinner in Paje at Jamzibar Jamaican restaurant . The vibe was right with sweet reggae music playing as we sat outside to enjoy the cool breeze . After ordering our meals , we were given a choice of games to play from which we chose dominoes while waiting on our food to be prepared . After almost beating my husband at dominoes , he crushed me hard in the last game then our food arrived . We dined on curried goat with white rice , okra and zucchini and fried ripe plantain for my husband and jerk prawns with white rice , same veggies and plantains for myself . Our juice of choice was pineapple ginger . Let me tell you , as a born and raised Jamaican to the core this was authentic Jamaican food , winning in flavors , taste and presentation just like yawd , except you’re in Zanzibar . We were able to meet the owner Doc as we were about to leave and he was certainly a welcoming individual and grateful to have patronage of people from his home country . If you’re looking for a good place to have authentic Jamaican food that is flavorful and not overpriced , definitely check out Jamzibar in Paje . A little off the main rd but well known as our driver knew exactly where to take us . Definitely worth the visit

Please if you are around this area go and see for your self. Thank you again for a wonderful night :-)

SCAM The water and electricity supply for room was unstable, no air conditioning, only a fan which did nothing. Not to mention the 1 hour and 30 minute wait to get food for dinner then not being great at all. The staff are not good especially the manager as he specifically said that he “doesn’t care about us[the client]” he was very rude and aggressive when we complained about the water issue and he asked us to leave if we didn’t like the place. Places were dangerous as there are broken wooden objects that can hurt people, at night there is not enough light. It could be a much better place if the staff and the boss would care more about it.

SCAM WARNING We booked two rooms in this place for a quite high price considering that we didn’t have water. The shower didn’t work at all. When we asked for it to be repaired, they managed to fix one of them. But after one hour they cut it again…. The place doesn’t have a generator installed, wich means that you will spend a lot of time without electricity…. We had to leave in the middle of our stay because it was unbearable. The person at the reception didn’t want to cooperate when we asked him to peak to the person in charge. Instead, he gave us a the number of someone else…. We had to wait three days in order to get a refund. Even though we got the money back for the remaining days that we weren’t there, we highly suggest you to skip this place. Some of the people at the reception are rude, specially towards women.

Overall the place is chilled and has a good vibe and staff are very friendly and helpful. Friday night is a karaoke and party night, don’t miss it! The location is close to the beach and walking distance to the dive center and kite centres. The place has a nice pool and a volleyball court where gusts and locals play volleyball every afternoon. Watching or joining a game is a great way to meet new people. I highly recommend it! :)

Very good pool, affordable accommodation kind and friendly staff, close to the beach and shops near by the main road. Great Kareoke party on Fridays.

We booked two nights and ended up staying for 5. The location is great and the staff was super friendly. The pool and volleyball court area is great to relax. Breakfast was also really nice. Perfect for budget travelers or backpackers.

The worst place i ever see in my life. Advertised to be on the beach. It is actualy 400m from the beach. Also the worst conditions ever. I have canceled our stay there and the did not want to refund us. Do not book there and pay upfront cause you will never get your money back !!!

This place was way better than we expected. The rooms were clean and practical, the pool is just perfect and service and breakfast were very good as well. The way to the beach isn't that long (maybe 5 minutes). For the price, it's more than worth it!

Food is the best here in Paje! Amazing seafood, good wines very good waiters. You would never think but food is first class here. Spicy tuna, tuna avocado tartara, calamari, crusted tuna, spring rolls, salads all above all expectations. Worth to have dinne/lunch here!
Anita H — Google review
Just ok. Their Seafood Platter is nice, but overpriced compared to the rest of the menu. No ambiance to talk about, just a cafe/bar on the beach. Decent service.

Amazing restaurant, with very fresh food, original and tasty, and good cocktails. The waitress was also very nice. We came two nights in a row for their guacamole, which is to die for … I definitely recommend!

Beach front (amazing) , fresh seafood (amazing), host service (amazing) — big portions, reasonable price, fresh as it gets… YUM

Love this place. Kaye is an amazing host, she really is. Takes care of you while there. Food is 10/10, rooms are comfortable, with an outdoor shower. Turquoise water views. You can’t beat the price with the quality and views you get.

A small intimate place, only a few bungalows, right by the sea. Friendly service and delicious food. Even on hot days, the pleasant sea breeze makes it not so hot. I sincerely recommend this place.

My partner and I had a wonderful stay at Meraki. It is centrally located in Paje with spacious rooms, comfortable beds and an outdoor shower. The owner is exceptionally hospitable, making us feel at home the entire trip and making generous accommodations for last-minute changes in our schedule. The food exceeded expectations as well, and we had nothing but pleasant interactions with the staff. We will 100% be returning to Meraki for our next visit to Paje. Thank you for the lovely stay Kaye!

My recent stay at Meraki Rooms in Paje, Zanzibar was an absolute delight from start to finish. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the cleanliness and welcoming atmosphere of the establishment. The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to ensure my comfort throughout my stay. One of the highlights was the delicious breakfast served each morning, providing a great start to the day. The staff were also incredibly flexible when it came to solving any issues that arose, and I greatly appreciated their proactive approach to ensuring my stay was enjoyable. I'd like to extend a special thanks to Kaye for her exceptional assistance in resolving an unpleasant situation related to problems with my credit card upon arrival. Her professionalism and dedication were truly commendable, and her efforts made a significant difference in turning around what could have been a stressful experience. Overall, my experience at Meraki Rooms was wonderful, and I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone visiting Paje, Zanzibar. Thank you to the entire team for making my stay so memorable.

Went there a few month ago, super cute place with a nice food and drinks menu. Only a few steps away from the ocean front, nice to spend a chill time

Had a very nice meal in this chill spot. Interesting menu - had the fish of the day, which was nicely done. Green goddess salad was also a highlight. Reasonable prices. Cash only.

Coming back from a swim, we passed by with my girlfriend and saw this amazing lush garden away from the chaos of the beach. We stoped to have a cocktail and stayed for diner. The oso bucco was amazing and my girlfriend had a peach burrata and loved it. Special mention to the broken lemon pie. I'm now craving for it. We'll go back soon

Originality, honesty, hospitality! What else can someone ask for an experience abroad. Tasty food made with love from the best local products. Joe is a magnificent person with quality and passion for life while the people around him are gentle and polite! Eat in Bandas, live in bandas and relax avoiding the thousands of touristic traps in Zanzibar

We tried enchiladas and tacos, we are mexican si se have lesa expectations and we enjoyed, also the guy who cooked was really friendly. We recommend the place but maybe could be a little bit more clean.

Decent Mexican food. Took quite a while to get our food and the service was just ok. A good choice if you get a hankering for tacos.

(Translated by Google) An excellent restaurant, we ate there in December 2024, and I can confirm that it is the best Mexican restaurant we have eaten at and yet it is in Zanzibar (Original) Un excellent restaurant, nous avons mangé chez eux en Décembre 2024, et je peux confirmer que c'est le meilleur restaurant mexicain chez qui nous avons mangé et pourtant c'est bien à Zanzibar

(Translated by Google) Poor quality enchiladas. The chicken pieces were greasy. The vegetables and side dishes were mediocre. Tasty beef tacos Bland fajitas Off-putting appearance Each plate costs 30,000 Tsh. Extremely expensive considering the plate, the setting (only one table), one glass for three people, and the bottle of water purchased from the neighboring store. Hygiene leaves something to be desired. There's little confidence in the quality overall.
