Where to eat: the 50 best restaurants in Aceh

Overly hyped but in reality it's just mediocre. Yes, ex president Jokowi might dine here before, but that's about it. It's just too viral, lots of posting about this place on Google & etc. But I've been to many places that serve better Mie Aceh than here. I do not recommend this place. Also, hygiene is not very prioritised here. Seems like cleanliness is not done properly. Difficult to find parking. The price per noodle is IDR 50K, slightly overpriced. The toilet is very dirty. Service is slow.

The noodle is just okay. Service is very very slow and they forgot to process our drinks after taking order. Ample carpark space. Lots of other eateries next to each other and around the area.

Though the taste is not to what we expected, it is still a delicious comfort food. We didnt get to try the Crab Mie Aceh as it is sold out.

We are quite disappointed by the mie honestly. This is our first meal at Banda Acheh and it leave us with a low standard on foods in Acheh. The mie is just average, price is reasonable and the portion is normal. There are a lot of customers eat here and we thought it is marvelous and they are proud with their long existence history and reputation as one of the best mie in Acheh. But yeah it did reach our expectation. The service is also normal take some time for our foods to arrive. The worker is okay and the hygiene of the restaurant can be improved. The restaurant is quite okay if you want to come over and hangout or bring family. Lots of seating available here. Come on, you guys should raise your standard.

Due to language barrier, my first order was not vegan as I asked. But the redo was delicious!

So far the best Mie Rebus Kepiting (crab), or the only place restaurant that have kepiting could serve. Because actually as I was in Banda Aceh, I've been expecting to taste the most famous, Mie Aceh with Kepiting. And this restaurant, Mie Razali, finally made my dream come true. And the result turned out to be perfect as well. They used exact the whole crab, except for the crab shell (they might not have the habit to taste it in the local context). And what surprised me the most in the freshness of the crab. I believe the crab before it place on the pan, it was still alive and that's the most important thing of all. Fresh! They also offered tools to crack the crab, but I was not really used to it and it turned out to be a messy. I am more used to the one that they help crack in advance. However, this couldn't stop me from enjoy the wonderful crab anyway. This is the place where I tried Juice Wortel (the red carrot) for the first time. It was also very nice!

I have good experience. It have top notch service. I also can see the kitchen attractions and cleaned with open and see thought kitchen. Sometimes people outside come and say hi. Sometimes we like it. Sometimes we don't. The mushola for prayer is very clean and wide in the second floor. I order teh tarik and nasi goreng with chicken. It have ayam kampung so it's more healthy and delicious. It have great architecture and interior decoration. I very well like the plate that their organize on the wall.

This restaurant got to be a five star restaurants in Banda Aceh. The food is good, restaurant is clean. This restaurant has set example for other restaurants in the area. One thing that I wish they could improve is waiting time to get the food. It could take easily 20 minutes.

Superb place to have Malaysian cuisines. Although the portion is just so so. Lots of delicacies to order from the famous Teh Tarik Ais to Nasi Briyani Ayam Rendang. This crib always pack of people especially on lunch and dinner. Best advised to make a reservation first if you're having a big group eating there. Also suitable for couples to spend some time as there is some privacy at the outside like lounge. There's a prayer compartment provided on second floor. It can accommodate up to 25 people at one time. Restroom is also available here.

Food was ok, but to be a real mamak you need to have thosai on the menu.

Its very recommended for you guys who wants to try Canai and Acehnese food. The prices is around 20-40K, and they provide Teh Tarik! everythings good here.

Tasty canai bread...it has a large Moslem prayer room and rest room at the 2nd floor...cozy place for having meal...

Im not sure about others. But from my experience, if you want to come without tour arrangement, please call the restaurant to pre-order. Overall food is OK. Restaurant location is quite far from city centre. We are lucky on that day, we can get grab back to the hotel. Otherwise, we need to wait longer because the restaurant business is for group tour. We are here, because our hotel reception suggested us this place. There is also musolla for prayer.

They provided variety of seafood dish, starting from fish, shrimp, squid, crab, shellfish along with a menu of vegetables and snacks. One portion of food was big enough for 3 - 4 people to share. I recommend to order black pepper soft shell crab, butter shrimp, crab with Padang sauce. This restaurant is open until 11pm and accepts credit card payments (not many restaurants in Banda Aceh accept credit card payments)

This place is really one of the kind that you could find good quality of seafood. We order the chicken dish, fried with traditional herbs, fish of choice with steaming, grilled shrimp with sauces, and three vegetable dishes, the broccoli, the watercress, and the soup asparagus. This is really the best meal that we have so far in Aceh and I am very pleased to visit here for the second time since our visit first in 2014. Also, it is just along the riverside where we really could enjoy our dishes with the beautiful scenery aside us.

I've tried seafood mostly in eastern part of Indonesia, and I think this is the best seafood I have ever tried in the western part of Indonesia so far. It is worth every penny. The staffs are friendly and helpful too. The location is very strategic as well.

Banda Seafood is one of the seafood restaurants in Banda Aceh, located in the city and quite strategic the food is diverse, and the taste is also quite good the dining area is quite large and there is a VIP room if you need a special room and for meetings. The menu is delicious, one of which is pandan fried chicken and grilled fish

it's heaven for my tounge. Have a good view. so delicious food. we order kerapu sour sweet and also shrimp black pepper. all the dish is very fresh and well cook. it's yummy. the best seafood on banda aceh

Beyond expectations, on my first time here, this restaurant serves good quality of seafoods. We can pick raw fish, squids and shrimp. But we have to be observant to get the fresh ones. And they serves good coffee also. Sanger (coffee with milk) is my favorite.

Pizza Hut is everywhere, even in Taiwan. This is my first time visit Pizza Hut outside Taiwan, and first time in Aceh to enjoy the Salad Bar which has been told for many times by my friend Amanda. What is different is that the Salad Bar in Pizza Hut in Taiwan is all-you-can -eat, and here in Ache, it's counted by bowl. I didn't know that at first until I was corrected by the waitress. Anyway, this was the first time I had so many fruits and vegetables here in Aceh. And I enjoyed it a lot. Finally, the price is not very favorable...same as in Taiwan. This place is a very expensive place, especially when you compare with other local cafe shop and the meal price you could have. For the expense in one-time Pizza Hut, I think we could have 2-day 6 meals in other places, with quite good and satisfactory food. Maybe one time a month is enough for Pizza Hut.

I never had an experience there but it does look like a nice place to dine. The food seems spicy, soft and delicate. I would like to dine some day but I would not have much of it.

Can’t advise this place. I ordered a medium rare t-bone with separate pepper sauce. I received a medium well t-bone with already barbecue sauce on it. We informed the waitress and she apologised, but didn’t make a discount or replaced the meal when we asked. Bad costumer treatment.

Unreal! What an amazing restaurant overlooking paddy fields, that is also close to the airport for a pre-departure treat. Really good service, super yummy food, a huge selection and great price. Clean washrooms to freshen up too which is greatly appreciated. Super cool ordering system where many items arrive and you pay for what you eat. You can also make special requests or say no too.

First time to enjoy this restaurant, that provides various dishes in the acehnese culinary spectrum. Fried hicken, duck, shrimp, goat meat curry and stewed vegetables accompanies steamed rice servings. The signature dish here is the fried chicken which is prepared with local herbs. The chicken meat is tender, and less fatty.

You should visit here after landing in BTJ. My friend told me the best ayam tangkap aceh called Ayam Pramugari (Stewardess Chicken) near Aceh Airport. After tried many Ayam Tangkap on Banda Aceh, Sigli, Meureudu and Bireun I can guarantee that Ayam Pramugari from RM Aditya Jaya is the best! I’m not saying the other not delicious, but in here the aceh spices feel strong but still delicious and the biggest difference is the juiciness of the chicken, it’s not just had longer leg part than the other chicken but the juiciness is outstanding! The other food is delicious too, you should try Pepaya Kocok and Timun kocok The only improvement I need is the floor you should clean more often and more smile from the employees

One of the good food located in blang bintang, if you just landed on Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, and you feel hungry after a long flight, i would recommend you this place to have lunch at. They serve ayam pramugari (fried chicken with curry leaves and pandan leaves as the garnish). The curry leaves really elevates the taste of the chicken. Well done!

At here they served the food in “Padang” style where all the food were served on the table and you just need to pay whatever you touched and ate. They only have 4 menus on the table and the fried chicken is the must that you need to try and also the reason people would come all the way here to eat. Only at around 10am you will see a lot of customer coming in but don’t worry no matter how crowded, they served the food pretty fast.

Very crowded restaurant near Aceh Airport...They sell traditional fried chicken with local seasoning. Mutton curry and chicken curry. But according to my preference, the taste is okay, not so outstanding. The restaurant also not so clean, and not children friendly as no high cair is provided.

Food was great, most importantly, cheap! Just to give you perspective, taste like combine Arabic and Indian Food, with the touch of Indonesian taste... Whole new dish!

Recommended to go. Im from malaysia. The waiter are nice, foods are good. Definitely will go again later. But have to alert on the prayer time as they will close the shop for a pray.

Some would love, the other would just say, it's okay. What i found was, the duck curry (Sie Itek) has a unique flavor and has its own characters. What i do find problematic, the duck is extremely small if compared to other competitors, you definitely need another two or three pieces of their ducks. I find the place can be much cleaner.

The curry was flavourful but the duck meat could have been a bit softer. Their ayam tangkap were delicious but sadly too small. I went through three pieces of chicken within a matter of seconds. And get ready to ask for second servings of rice. You'll need it.

Not so oily food even they fried it. They serve few ducks and meats, and you could eat whatever you want , but aware about the price that count in the last. No worries it is affordable here, higiene and also tasty. Just one note,, the sambal is not spicy . You just need to raise the spicy level

This coffee shop is located in the center of Banda Aceh, precisely at Simpang 5. This Warkop provides a variety of processed Arabica coffee, tea, milk, and various fruit juices. Uniquely, this shop provides traditional foods such as boiled bananas, boiled sweet potatoes, boiled peanuts, and several other delicious snacks. The price set at this warkop is affordable.

i order bakso urat.can anyone tell me what kind of bakso it is? where is other ingredients? even i didn’t said anything to them reduce anything. am i foreigner is it my mistake? Just did scammed on me. shame on you people. you people destroy my respect to you. but sanger espresso was so good. the girl is working on floor her behaviour is good. but this bakso made me shy infront of a people. i bought that for them. and it’s made me shy.

Just wanna say, can you please train your waiters to be more aware of their surroundings? A lot of times, they tend to hang out and joke around with their fellow coworkers and ignored us customers, we have to flail our arms like those freakin inflatable balloon man on the side of the road for them to notice us. Sheesh youngins these days. Food is ok for me btw. A lot of varieties to choose from.

Generally, this place was below average. I had been sitting there waiting for a friend for 30 minutes and none of waiter offered me anything. Waiters are too busy.

my experience in this place is the taste of chicken steak is just average, and the most shocking me is when i order a&w ice cream, i thought that i will get an ice cream with A&W flavour but in reality i got ice cream that poured with can A&W soda

The 'Mie Saus' is actually yellow noodle with black pepper sauce which is made not as thick as for the steak. On the other hand, the steak uses a different kinda of sauce. Unfortunately, the taste of the steak doesn't go well with me and I would opt for the Mie Saus if I were to hi there again. This place offers desserts as well but I didn't try as I don't have sweet tooth.

Love the orange float and avocado float.. but I came for the chicken steak.... I must say its The Most Confusing Chicken Steak I ever taste. It has raw cucumber and tomato under its steak gravy... even my 5yo kid won't have a bite. Since 1978, guys🤣

I love everything in this store. Mie steak ayam (noodle with chicken steak) is the most famous food. Do not miss to try the ice cream too. It is handmade n really different than any ice cream u have ever tried. Anyways sometimes this store is too crowded so you can go the the second store not far from there. If you want to take this meal to other region or country or somewhere far, do not hesitate to tell them, they will separate the soup for you

The main course and beverages taste really good and the prices are considerably cheap enough. But its space is kind of small though, so it'll be a bit hard to get your own table especially when it's lunch time.

Super delicious food, I loved the veggie wraps we’ve had and also the can’t say no crêpe! The fact that they are using local ingredients for creating new dishes is fantastic, I love it! It’s taking a bit of time but totally worth the wait as everything’s made from scratch. One improvable thing would be the hygiene for the restroom & basins. Also, it would be nice if the stuff understood a couple of basic sentences in English or help out using a translator. All in all, recommend!

Nola (the gorgeous French lady owner who has been there for 15yrs) was super friendly and nice, she opened for us on a Sunday which was supposed to be an off day for her. She also suggested us to pre-order by sharing the menu upfront as there were 7 of us and she was the only chef. The food was delicious and we specifically loved the soy prawns pasta and pizzas. Do try out the crepes too. Despite the place was hot as both the fans were spoiled, however we revisited and ordered for takeaway a day before we left sabang and Nola made us huge portion this round (guess it was due to our revisit 😁). The cafe opens for lunch too, so do drop by and give it a try if you happen to be in sabang 😉

Stayed here for 2 days the accommodation is quite old traditional which is good. The food is ok I enjoyed the chicken burger. The water smells very bad and we even had the great pleasure to don't have water anymore just before we left to the airport. Furthermore, at 7h no one was there to serve us the breakfast (breakfast we ordered with the owner the night before). Everything is dirty, the bungalows are not maintained at all, the matress and the pillows are horrible... For 350k IDR basically it's not worth it. It's not like this that we should treat costumers. Go green, really Sari, please don't destroy this place.

The foods hot, spicy and the meat was crispy. It's delicious though The services here are friendly but inexperienced. One staff nearly spill the drinks we ordered and luckily he managed to safe it though. The facilities here are great as well. The washroom not too clean but other than that not bad. We met at this joint place before we left for Suzuya Mall on last Sunday. I didn't stay there more than 10 minutes but left. But one thing that I observed is like even there are parking lot in front of place, or even a parker, the parking is still a mess, especially when peoples or cars just drove in, maybe wait, or just dropped people off, but I think most of the time, they just park there and everything just stocked.

Compare with javanese satay..I think satay matang too pricey and the size is too small just a typical kind of satay around Aceh province. Thanks to all staff and the owners who sweetened my spoiled month in the area. The place is located in not tourist area but they know how to treat the guests. I spent entire month in this place for lunch and dinner and never was disappointed. They serve local and international food, unfortunately I could not to try all items on the menu due to my health condition but the once I try was excellent. Mostly I eat the sea food dishes and vegetarian, my favorite was Asam/ Manis with a fish , I’ll miss this dish in my homeland. In addition to the good meal you will enjoy the wonderful view from your table and if you lackey enough to catch a sunset then you will never forget this day. You will enjoy your meal and watch a shades of the colors of the sun on the clouds in the sky. Also, an integral part of the restaurant is their manager Sandy. We loved the view — it was really beautiful since it's right by the beach. However, the location felt a bit crowded, with the tables and chairs set quite close together on the beach. We only tried the margarita pizza and fries with drinks. The watermelon juice was quite sweet, but the rest was not bad. The pizza was the thin-crust type, and you could easily finish one by yourself. We managed to perform our prayers at the beautiful wooden surau. However, the ablution area is separate from the prayer area, and there's no specific space for women to pray. You’ll have to share, and it can be a bit difficult since the area is open and clearly visible from outside — there’s no curtain for privacy.

Pak Sam the owner has created a very special and unique place here for Aceh using reclaimed timber. The area is quiet and picturesque and right on the beach just outside Lhoknga village. Even though it can get very busy with selfie-takers around sunset, it’s still tranquil and great to see it’s so popular with local customers as well as international tourists. The large beachfront outdoor area complete with sun loungers is perfect for enjoying the sunset and food & drinks and the cabins are nestled among the pine trees and well kept grounds. The cabins have lovely decor, quality appliances and are well-appointed ( aircon, wifi, ensuite with shower, hot water, tea/coffee, drinking water, mini fridge, comfy queen size bed, deck to sit out on). The staff are very friendly and provided us with express laundry and transport. Every time I return Sam and his team have made even more improvements and it is always so well maintained. For what you get here it’s so worth the 35mins drive from the airport even if you only have 1 night, and it’d be perfect for an extended stay too.

This shows the different atmosphere and vibe this store brings. The service is not perfect but it can be improved. When i came tissue box was empty and some eating utensils were not brought out for people who choose not to eat with their hands. Other than that i have no complain about this restaurant. Oh and if you don't mind paying a little bit extra for a large pizza, you need to have a taste these stone baked pizzas. 9/10
