A large restaurant with an amazing view, we got to sit outside to soak up the evening sun. I ordered a vegetarian flammkuchen but was served a traditional one. It was tasty and crispy. We also ordered a sausage with sauerkraut, bread and mustard. We had to ask for the bread as it did not come out with our meal. Beer was excellent. Overall a lovely setting to enjoy the view.

Lively atmosphere and charming interior. Outdoor seatings were nice as well. Food was good enough, however, when my fries arrived, the server unintentionally dropped the plate causing fries scattered. Without saying a word, he just walked away. Service lacked finesse which was disappointing.

Very nice restaurant with own beer. The Märzen Beer was so nice something else beside the well know wheat beer. You should try it. Even it was quite full the service was nice and they pay a lots of attention. The food selection was for everyone. You will definitely find a good choice.

This was a good brewery to stop at. The beer was very good as was the rösti, which they made gluten free. It was very busy when we went so a reservation is recommended, but you can sit at the bar right away.

This restaurant is located near the bearpark with real bears. And it’s has gorgeous view from its terrace. The service was good. The guy was attentive. The food was tasty and the portion was really big.

We had the signature beef burger, sausage, and pork knuckle. The food tasted very good; however, beef burger was a little overcooked. Overall we had a pleasant time here. BTW, don't forget to try their homemade beers.

The restaurant boasts an unbeatable location, and I highly recommend opting for outdoor dining to soak in the picturesque old-town views. The service was excellent throughout our meal. We tried two "Roski" dishes—one with egg and another with beef (the exact names escape me now)—and while they were good, what truly impressed me were the generous portion sizes. As is often the case in Switzerland, prices were on the higher side for relatively simple dishes, but that's an unavoidable aspect of dining here.

We were not able to have a table by the side, with the amazing view as we had not made a reservation. We came here on a whim. We were given 2 other seating options, 1 which we were warned we would be hit by the sun soon and the other on the other side near the kids playground on the high chair stools and table. The waitress who served us was super busy, there was a large party of 10 or so and lots of other small tables she was serving. She did her best to keep everyone happy. There was a bit of a wait time to order. Once the food came, it tasted good. However due to being summer, wasps started to appear and take over. The toilets are inside, downstairs, they were clean. Upon exiting the building we saw a huge amount of salad plates ready to go just sat on the side. Overall, it was good.

Nice restaurant with a beautiful view of the city. In a hot summer day you will not be able to dine inside because it’s extremely hot and there isn’t AC. We dined at the patio and unfortunately were invaded by dozens of flies as soon as our food was received. We prompted to move everything inside. Service is mediocre.

If you choose to come from the down town of Bern; be prepared to pull enough energy to walk up thru the hill, which is a nice little warm up and workout before arriving to the restaurant. Also, it’ll be great to spot coupe or bears from the bridge while heading to the restaurant.

Beautiful place and historical as well. We really enjoy our food. I have to say the rainbow trout I had was delicious. Our server was amazing and we feel very welcoming even though we didn't have a reservation. Definitely read the first page on the menu. It's worth having a little bit of background in that amazing place.

Beautiful place - it’s right in a basement which feels like a fine dining setup. Service wasn’t great especially when they are not busy - asked for sparkling water but gave us still water , asked for second round of bread basket but it didn’t arrive Food was so so - beef tartar was too minced and it came with bread and not toast The venison entrecôte was a bit over, cabbage was slightly sour and spaetzli didn’t stay too long in the pan and some seasoning was missing. Overall come here for the atmosphere ..

10/10 I had a wonderful evening at Kornhauskeller in Bern. The place is so beautiful—like a historic palace with high ceilings and amazing design. It feels very special the moment you enter. The food was excellent—delicious and very well presented. Every dish had great taste and was made with care. everything was just perfect. But what made this evening even better was the great service. I want to say a special thank you to Mr. Wael 🇪🇬, who was so kind and helpful. He explained the menu with patience, gave good suggestions, and made us feel very welcome. He really made our night unforgettable. Kornhauskeller is not just a restaurant—it is a full experience with great food, atmosphere, and amazing service. We had spontaneous dinner, ordered berner minced veal and entrecôte Both were delicious. It was hunting season anyway.. Atmosphere here is amazing, such a historic art place. Servis was good too. Only reason i marked food as a 4 was desert.. was not good, only ice cream was good.

Great food and ambience! Good service too. Loved the Chateaubriand and the surprise that it comes in 2 separate servings per person! For red wine, go for the Merlot from Ticino, perfect pairing!

Very cool unique space. Very impressive when you walk into the large dining room. The braised pork shoulder dish was yummy and the wine vegetable soup was savory and delicious. Our service was excellent! Would definitely return.

We did not make a reservation and were fortunate to be seated in 5 minutes despite the restaurant being packed with what appeared to be locals. The server was kind and proactively took the time to explain what dish the cheese was for, the cutlery and also the origins of the free bread, even though he was busy. He brought us sharing plates, again, without us asking and we did not feel rushed at all. The food and drink were excellent. Espresso was delicious. We enjoyed our time here.

I visited Ristorante Luce and had a fantastic experience! I ordered the pasta with salmon and shrimp in tomato sauce – every bite was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. My son had the Italian vegetable soup, and to my surprise (and joy), he loved it so much that he finished the whole bowl – and he usually skips vegetables! 🥹 The food was fresh, tasty, and comforting. A great place to visit, and I’ll definitely be coming back!

To be honest, I thought the food was just ok. The caprese and spinach lasagna were good, but I didn’t care much for the flatbread or the carbonara (it had a weird flavor). The service, however, was fantastic! Our server was fast, friendly and charismatic. The patio seating was nice as well.

During a week trip to bern, I went to Luce restaurant twice because of their perfect pizzas. This is one of the best pizzas that Ive ever had eaten. The food was a bit pricey but definitely worth it. We also tried tiramisu for the dessert and it was average.

Decent Italian food, located near a cute square. We were trying to get out of the rain and chose this spot. The food was pretty good, however nothing to rave about.

We had a sensational meal at Mille Sens. We chose the three course surprise tasting menu with accompanying wines and boy was it good. Some lovely bread and flavoured butted, an amuse bouche and then three amazing plates bursting with flavour. Michelin standard food in my view. And the price, compared with the extortionate pizza and pasta we’d had the night before was a relative bargain (250 francs for 2). I only wish we’d come here on our first night in Bern too!

There were 4 of us visiting for a conference. We were very impressed with the 5 courses meal. It was a surprise of flavors! Absolutely delicious. The chef came out to great the tables a super nice guy. We will be back.

Mille Sans is phenomenal. Chef Domingo is one of the most creative cooks I have ever met - he brings influences from so many different cuisines from around the world into each meal, yet the dishes still fit together harmoniously. It’s no exaggeration to say I enjoyed Mille Sans more than my meals at various Michelin-starred restaurants. My family of three ate at Mille Sans for lunch (we shared two business executive lunch menus and a salad bowl), and were so blown away by the food that we returned for dinner, ordering the tavolata (a surprise sharing menu that the chef is happy to customize based on any dietary restrictions or dislikes you have). We deliberately walked around a lot between lunch and dinner to build up an appetite so that we could return! The dishes between lunch and dinner were totally different, but equally delicious. I have attached photos of a few of our dinner plates to this review. Chef Domingo is extremely personable and comes out to chat with the guests. The restaurant staff are also friendly and provided excellent service. Thank you for the wonderful meal - I will plan a return trip to Bern just to eat at this restaurant.

Wonderful find in Bern. The food was amazing. A wonderful balance of delicate flavours and meat perfectly prepared (some of the most tender beef I've ever had). No photos of the amuse bouche and mains as dived straight in. But the rhubarb dessert with sorbets finished off a perfect evening.

Thoughtful details, like fresh flower bouquets, enhance the sophisticated style. My lunch special began with their inspired take on Vitello Tonnato. Thin slices of gently roasted pink veal were arranged on a light tuna sauce, topped with fresh tuna pieces, greens, and house-made potato crisps. This lighter version of the classic dish offered mild veal flavors with hints of tuna, making it an excellent start. For the main course, a Flank Steak was served from a 'charriot'. It featured a nice crust and was served with a rich, dark sauce, creamy potato gratin, and ratatouille. The steak's wonderful roasted aromas and juicy, slightly fatty interior paired beautifully with the sauce and gratin, delivering a truly gourmet experience. A coffee, served with a fine praline and almond pastry, provided a pleasant sweet finish. Overall: Jack's Brasserie serves high-quality Franco-Swiss cuisine in a luxurious and elegant setting. The service is attentive but also surprisingly relaxed, making for a comfortable experience. It's an ideal choice for a refined meal, special occasion, or business lunch.

This is a truly great restaurant to visit when you're in Bern! It's a bit pricey (just as everything in Switzerland, so I guess it's no surprise) but the food was phenomenal and the service even better. The lobster bisque was phenomenal and the steak was made to the right temperature and prepared very well. Overall we had a great experience for a dinner service and I strongly recommend trying this place out!

During our stay at the hotel, we made two reservations at the restaurant. We were warmly welcomed. The staff knew we had come with dogs and were very surprised we didn't bring them along – without any mention, we were given a table with the most space so that our four-legged friends would be comfortable. I greatly appreciated this. We were served by Ms. Justyna. Very helpful and smiling. She was excellent at guiding us through the dishes. For the appetizer, we ordered tartare, which she prepared at our table, presenting many possible additions beforehand. One of the best I've ever had. The sommelier at this restaurant is a great asset. We are not amazing wine connoisseurs, but we mentioned what we like and what we don't. He selected an excellent wine for us that matched our tastes perfectly. He told interesting stories about the wineries they came from. We felt very well taken care of by the staff. On our second visit, we brought our dogs with us. They received bowls of water and cans of treats. Again, we were given a very spacious area. Unfortunately, the next day we had a 10-hour drive ahead of us, so the sommelier recommended a lighter, this time white wine for such an "occasion." Once again, we returned to our room satisfied with the dinner.

Excellent Service from Elena We were truly impressed by the level of service in this restaurant, especially thanks to our waitress, Elena. She knows the menu perfectly and can clearly explain every dish and its ingredients. Elena is also very familiar with the extensive wine list and gives great recommendations. She was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely cared about making our dining experience wonderful. Her professionalism and warm attitude made our evening really special. We were having dinner celebrating the bride to be with a big group of 13 people. The atmosphere on the terrasse during a warm summer evening is magical! You can look down on the Aare river and see the Swiss alps painted red from the sunset. We had the set menu, with each course being delicious. The food combined traditional Japanese cuisine with a modern take on and interesting combinations. The service was very attentive and curated a beautiful evening! On top of that, they even celebrated the bride to be in their very special way with bubbles, polaroid pictures and a special dessert. Definitely recommended and will go back to celebrate other special moments in life!

I was passing by Bern and came across the restaurant and saw the great reviews so decided to have lunch there. The catch was I arrived around 30 minutes before they close! The restaurant manager and chef were so sweet and accommodated me as I already knew what I wanted from the menu, steak! They did not disappoint and met up to the reviews I read, everything i had was delicious and the music and atmosphere was great. The mojito was perfectly done, and the sizzling steak was exquisite. A good looking restaurant inside an amazing hotel. The employees are nice but a little forced to be like that, don't sound natural. Food is great but the relationship between the price is very high. You will find better near by. Maybe I will give another chance.

I recently had the pleasure of eating lunch at Noumi and I was pleasantly surprised by the unique and delicious food, the friendly and attentive staff, and the amazing atmosphere. The dishes are very interesting and combine lots of different flavors. The staff were all very nice and went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience. The atmosphere was also fantastic - the restaurant had a great vibe and was an amazing place to enjoy a meal with friends.

This restaurant specializes in different types of Röschti but also offer other typical Swiss dishes such as fondue and raclette. The room is wood paneled and cozy. In the summer, you can sit outside with a view of the Federal palace. The restaurant caters mostly to tourists. Portion sizes and quality are okay. The waiters seemed a bit stressed.

It takes place at a very good location. In good weather it has lots of outside seatings. For the location, the higher prices would be acceptable. The portions are ok, but the food is nothing extraordinary. Unfortunately the waiters are really slow...had to wait for the bill for 20 minutes during watching the waiter just lurking around and the place was absolutely not full of people.

The raclette was good. They also have a fried veal which was solid. The location is in the old city center which is convenient if you are in the area.

Cozy ambience with yummy, hearty traditional Swiss dishes. The environment reminds me of a quaint mountain restaurant in Wallis. The Rösti is tasty and well presented, however, in my opinion, it's not the best Rösti in Bern. Prices are fair (about 20 bucks for Rösti).

Awful service, took almost an hour to rake our order. I went to Casa Novo for a celebration. The food was exquisite, and we were quite satisfied with the wine selection. We had a delicious Kir Royale as aperitif and accompanied our fish dinner with a tasty Swiss pinot blanc. The main meal (tuna) was exquisite in flavour and texture. We truly fell in love with a soy glaze that was included and paired well with the tuna and tartare. This was the highlight of the night. The black tiger shrimp ceviche was refreshing. Compared to the main dish, the ceviche didn´t compare in flavour balance, but it was quite refreshing and enjoyable. Perhaps I'm too used to the stronger flavoured ceviches from Central America that are quite strong and outstanding. I do agree with previous reviews that the wine selection is a bit overpriced. On this occasion, we knew to expect the price as we checked before, so we have no complaints about this particular experience. As for customer service, we were assisted by wonderful people. Not only did they take their time to explain the dishes but also were quite friendly and kind in how they approached us.

Amazing place, croquettes tasted better than in Spain, caesar salad with a very interesting presentation, pumpkin soup very delicate. The space is very nice and the white tablecloths on the tables look impeccable

Went here for our anniversary, wanted to try the place as one of us is local. While we did have a bit of a slow start the entire evening turned out amazing. The food (caprese !! Tartar !!) was gorgeous, the service (we had a very forthcoming waitress) was attentive, our glasses never empty and the timing was impeccable. Not the cheapest. Special occasion place that's worth a visit.

Just grabbed an empty seat after a long walk through the city till the bridge / bare park and ordered a - large - beer. Very nice and down to earth staff and a very nice atmosphere outside. A nice option to avoid the choices within the - touristic - city center

I didnt eat nor drink here, just found an empty table and chair on the open area, which was empty, and I sat down to work and read. The staff saw,me and we're really kind to allow me to stay there. The way they spoke to me made me feel very interested in going amd checking positivity makes a nice experience and bring costumers :). Soon I'll post a food review here.

I visited Treff Asian Restaurant and Café and had a good dining experience. I ordered the Ginger Beef and the Grilled Salmon with vegetables and rice. Both dishes were well-prepared and tasty. The customer service was good. While the overall experience was positive, there is some sections for improvement that keeps me from rating it higher. I give Treff Asian Restaurant and Café a solid 3 out of 5 stars. Worth a visit if you're in the mood for some Asian flavors.

The place is right on the main road through old town. The atmosphere was good, and I enjoyed sitting having a beer watching people come and go. The food was ok. I had spring rolls and chicken satay. The chicken wasn't bad. My colleague had the duck and said it had a flavor like it had been frozen and reheated.

The restaurant itself have a variety of stuff (pizza, pasta, burger, sushi) and usually that’s the kind of place I avoid for sushi, but I was surprised and pleased to see that the sushi is done in a entirely different kitchen with a cook just focusing on that. The waitress was very friendly. Sushi was very fresh and yummy. And the dessert was very pleasant too.

Loved Thai restaurant. It was a bit weird to have a combo of Italian and Asian food in the menu, but that didn’t take away from the quality and taste. Plus the owners Siberian husky is a pleasure to visit with for lunch.

Overall we were not impressed, the inside of the restaurant looks worn, the service was mixed with one server apparently on her first day, and with no clue about the menu to answer questions. The food was mediocre, standard fare you can get anywhere. So, overpriced for what you get, in our view.

Great terrace, beautiful interior. Good cocktails, good food. Not much more expensive than other restaurants in Bern. Civet is a French stew of slow-cooked game meat (this civet was made with marcassin, young wild boar). The meat is marinated in red wine with aromatics, then braised. The sauce is traditionally thickened with the animal’s blood or liver purée, although flour is often used in modern preparations.

Great evening spent at Brasserie VUE. Service was of highest quality thanks to Chef de Service Michele and team who granted our special requests and made it an unforgettable evening for us. Can only recommend the courgette tartar, the "paupiette de volaille" with Marengo sauce, and the babà with rum. Will certainly return!

We are from Bern and know many wonderful restaurants here. For our wedding we received a dinner at the Bellevue as a gift – the atmosphere was beautiful and the service excellent. Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed with the food. We ordered the most expensive cut of meat (entrecôte, 400 g), but the quality was not convincing: a lot had to be trimmed off and it wasn’t tender. These things can happen, but at this price point we expected more.

The brunch was very good. Enormously varied and rich. There is nothing to complain about the quality of the food. From the French croissant to the market-fresh vegetables and the various meat dishes to the excellent dessert selection, everything was just right. The ambience in the "Vue" is quiet and dignified. The staff is very friendly and has the appropriate class for the restaurant. The fact that mineral water is not included in the price is a mystery to me. Anyway, in my opinion, the price-performance ratio is correct. Some little things, which I expect in a luxury hotel (hanging up jackets at the checkroom, no regular refill for coffee or no replacement of cutlery after the end of a course) are missing for the 5th star.

Upscale fine-dining restaurant inside the Bellevue hotel. Elegant Victorian-style dining room with a terrace. Friendly, professional service. Portion sizes are a bit small, but they make up for it in quality. On weekends, one can also enjoy the rich brunch buffet.

This is a good place to stop to take a break in Bern. We came here to have coffee and a beer. Both were very good. The star of the show was the dessert. Take a look at the picture. How pretty it is and how wonderful it tasted. Yep the place was a hit. Coming back is a sure thing.

The entrecôte was 3/5 for me the fried was good The thin grilled beef was 3/5 for the tenderness and taste. The crème brûlée was 3.5/5 The service was 👍 ok.

Fine service from waitstaff. Food is okay, steak is tender but the sauce is mediocre. Fries are fine as well. Nothing spectacular about this resturaunt truly. The apple pie was a 4.5/5, steak was a 3/5. EDIT: docked points because both my boyfriend and I got the absolute WORST food poisoning. We were scheduled to train out of Bern the next day and spent the entire night feeling absolutely terrible. Sparing the details, it was not good. I would NOT go here.

Had a lovely meal there yesterday. The steak medium-rare was Swiss beef, beautifully tender and juicy, paired with a lovely sauce full of umami. Every mouthful was a delight. The perch from Lake Geneva was deep-fried to a crisp, as was the pommes frite, served with freshly made tartar sauce. We rounded it off with a lemon tart which was another winner. Citrusy with a nice balance of sweetness. Will definitely visit again the next time I'm in Bern.

Disappointing and overpriced—avoid this place. I rarely leave negative reviews and this is actually my first one star, but this restaurant earned it. The cheapest steak on the menu was €40—and it wasn't even good. Thin, overcooked, and nowhere near medium rare like we asked. Even the water cost €8. That’s right, water. We waited over 15 minutes for just one steak because we couldn’t afford two (that should tell you enough about the prices). For what they charge, you'd expect quality food and decent service. Instead, we got mediocrity and a bill that felt like robbery. Save your money and eat literally anywhere else. Even a 10€ meal in McDonald's is better for the insane price that they charge

Great place to enjoy a good meat dish. The staff is very knowledgeable and the place has a good atmosphere. Depending on your preferences, if you're craving meat, this is a good place. I gave the food 4 stars because I found the amount of butter on the meat a bit excessive and I didn't quite understand how the sauce could go well with the already excellent sides and meat served! A praise also to the drinks and wines👌🏻👍🏻. The price is fair and the service was great.

This was perhaps the most disappointing dining experience I’ve had in a while. We went for dinner on a Friday night and after sitting at our table were told they were completely out of Swiss beef. Instead, I got the Irish filet which was just OK. The risotto was wet instead of creamy and the fries were the worst I had on our trip to Europe. EDIT: While I appreciate the restaurant’s response, the claim that the Swiss beef sold out quickly that night is not true. They simply didn’t have any because of either poor planning or some issue with their provider.

If you're looking for a steak in Bern, this is the place! It is a Canadian restaurant in old town Bern Switzerland and the food is legit. I had a draft beer and a beef short rib with green peppercorn sauce and grilled asparagus. My colleague had the rib-eye steak with sautéed mushrooms with steak butter. They have a humidor to buy cigars from, seating upstairs and bar seating in the back. This place is excellent but they do close the kitchen at 2pm to switch over to dinner. Stop by when you visit Bern.

If you are a meat lover and visiting the very beautiful capital of Switzerland, Been. you definitely have to stop by in this nice Restaurant. the meets is very tastefully and you definitely have to take a look into the wine menu. They will serve the meat with different kinds of sauces and you will enjoy the taste of different cuts. Reservation with a large group of people is definitely recommended if you stop by with a party of two, maybe there is a table available. there is also a very nice bar at the ground floor where you cannot eat but still be able to have a nice drink.

What to say about The Beef. You want amazing tender beef than you have to go their. Nice beef selection from all around the world and the bison is great too. The side are really good. Service is tip top. The home made bbq sauce is really good. The 4 peices trail menu is a go to for sure. Would go back in a heart beat for sure.

Nice place! I love Tibits at most locations. The sandwich was tasty, drinks were refreshing, and the buffet had great options. A fantastic vegetarian spot with a lovely outdoor terrace!

If you're vegetarian and craving a meal, look no further than here (or its nearby sister restaurant) to satisfy your appetite. But it's also a great spot if you're a meat lover and just up for a centrally located drink or dessert while in the city. Please note that there's no table service and that things can be slightly pricey, including some expectations (for better or worse) to round up your tip when ordering / paying at the counter. Also, be sure to be considerate of others, especially when using your laptop, as the place can get crowded quickly (the staff may also kindly remind you ;-). Otherwise, it's a fancy and conveniently located establishment that offers good-quality dishes and drinks.

The restaurant is great to enjoy a wide selection of vegan and vegetarian buffets. The selection changes every day and you can enjoy a variety of cuisine there. I take a little bit of almost everything and weigh the plate to pay. The prices are in line with the Swiss standard. Also, you get a free bread / buns to the buffet 😃

Being a vegetarian since the 70's, this place is a total enjoyment. I love this restaurant since the first time I stepped into it. The price is very good in relation to the quality. My best girlfriend and I come everytime we have the opportunity. We love the buffet modality because we can chose whatever we like in the perfect amount for us. With the pandemic we had to make a pause, it's been a loooooong wait, but now we are coming again keeping all the security messures. The different areas gives you the option of choosing also where to sit, whether it is in the main floor, upstairs, or outside. They keep growing and offering more services all the time. Forty years ago, a place like this was my dream, today is real. I just love 💘 it!!!

My wife loves the food here. Choose froM a variety of vegetarian dishes: cheese, falafel, potatoes, gebratener Rosenkohl or spinach. Enjoyed the dessert buffet. Location just next to the central station. On two floors. Service above average i.e. super friendly and effective.

This was one of the best Italian meals we have ever had. We have travelled through Italy and eaten in many a Michelin restaurant and we rate this as 5 star. The ambience is beautiful if you are looking for something a bit special in Bern. Highly recommended to come and enjoy the perfect meal. The end photo says it all!

One of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. The liver dish was beyond imagination. It was the best liver dish I had in my life! The place is very beautiful and the menu is visually appealing. The tiramiso is fresh and delicious.

Clear five stars. Very attentive and nice staff with lots of humour. Had an absolute blast. The food was almost cooked to perfection. Had the Gaberoni which were heavenly. The risotto was very nice as well. Tried the Gnocci from my friends which were a little soft for my taste but that is personal taste. Only downside if you sit outside and there's cars passing by it's quite loud. Inside might be a different story but such a nice summer evening we were seated outside. Prices are fair considering the location and quality of food. Clear recommendation to eat here.

Hello The way the blond waitress treated us was not polite and competent at all. We arrived at the restaurant around 8 o‘clock in the evening, waited for someone to come and asked for a place for two to eat: This waitress came toward us and replied following: „You need to hurry up since the kitchen is closing in 10 minutes and then she said sit wherever you want“ Her attitude was very rude! At your website the opening hours are until 10 pm. She also made some unnecessary comments in front of us. Maybe she had a bad hot day, but it is not the way to treat clients who are paying for a service. Such a pitty since food was really delicious.

This restaurant charged us 20% tip on top of the food price. We chose to eat at this restaurant at the very start of our Switzerland trip. Not knowing much about the tipping culture, I didn’t push back while the waiter indicated that we should pay 20% tip. As we continued with the trip I realized this is a scam. There are many restaurants with much better food and service that didn’t choose to scam foreign tourists with extra tips. It is really a shame for the waiter to intentionally ask this amount of tip to foreigners. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Came for a quick drink, me and my wife were thirsty after a long walk and figured we'd have a quick drink each. After we made it clear to the front man that we would only get drinks (else we wouldn't be able to use the outside tables, it's ok, if it's restaurant policy I don't mind it, especially since the outside tables sit on a sloped terrain), we waited for 5 minutes to get a menu. Instead of a menu, we had the blonde waitress come over and ask us what we want to drink. We, of course, couldn't answer that since we haven't gotten the chance to see the drink menu yet. She seemed perplexed by our request, then went back to get her colleague to come to us with a menu which we never got to see, since he held it in his hands and started asking us what we wanted. At this point we are just fed up, so we just ask for a couple lemonades and we get them fairly quickly and, to their merit, they were really good. However, I had to go inside and ask to be able to pay and the front man told me his colleague would be with us with the check. After 10 minutes passed, I went back inside to find my waiter had no idea that we asked for the check(yes, he maybe should have checked on us, but we are a low priority table, I guess, since we only had drinks, however the front man did take it upon himself to let the waiter know we wanted to pay). After I let him know we were ready to pay, to his credit, he came to our table pretty quickly and we managed to finally end our stay there. If the food is at the same level as the drinks, it's maybe worth a shot. If it's at the same level as the service, I'd hold onto my money for the McDonald's next to the clock tower. And even if the food is really that amazing, the ghastly service is enough reason for me to not return, since I can't enjoy a proper restaurant meal if I don't feel welcome there.

Not as good as reviews say, or as ive heard. The service really didnt feel very warm. Although nearing the end, there was a nice guy who seemed like the owner or manager who seemed sincere in his words and asked if we enjoyed the meall we quite appreciated that. However, we felt the fondue was decent, and not too bad, but not exactly as mindblowing as we expected it to be, given the price point. The rosti, was abit too oily. I know a rosti is supposed to be oily, but it felt way too oily for our liking. Portion could be a bit bigger (it was rather thin, and for the price, we expected more potato). Taste didnt stand out too. A slight letdown as we expected more and had high hopes for this place, especially given the reviews and price point. We hope this may be different if we return next time.

Typical and local cuisine, in a cozy setting with big tables, wooden decor and open kitchen. We ordered the röstis and they were very tasty with generous portions. The local Fendant wine went well with the dishes. Super friendly service and very efficient.

Absolutely wonderful - if you are looking for traditional swiss dishes and atmosphere - this is the place to go - I had the Veal Bratwurst sausage with Rosti and fried onions - it was SO good - I went back for lunch the next day and had exactly the same thing - The team was amazing... once you forgave them for being very busy and a little stand offish - but once you talk to them nicely they warm up and could not have been nicer - strongly recommend and sorry that I live in Canada so far away.

We tried the fondue menu and chose the 3 cheese one. It was our first fondue experience and unfortunately it was too heavy for us. I would recommend those who will try it for the first time to choose the 2 cheese one. The waiters were polite and the atmosphere was warm. However there is a very strong cheese smell inside because there is an open kitchen :(

It was Strongly suggested to us by the local community. Starters where earthy but without the expected signature. The main dish the pig Filet with honey /beer sauce was a taste less with no trace of Maillard reaction. The dessert was a soup of caramel sauce... To sweet to be enjoyable. The cocktails where the only good point. Price is in line with standards.

Marvelous dishes and preparation. The venison is quite special, and the pumpkin soup is a must. Highly recommend!

Enjoy the atmosphere here and the food is often very well prepared and yummy. Individuals who work here are very sweet and often very helpful especially to my sister who has food allergies. Competitive menu prices, would definitely visit here again. Read about it online so was expecting it to be packed out, but lucky they were in a position to cater to us. Wonderful food and cocktails too, you won't be disappointed. Wonderful spot to go for supper, would recommend.

Did a farewell for a workmate there. The varieties of Fingerfood was great and of high quality. Also (white) wine was really good, if you're a wine drinker. Great service , nice girls tended to us very well and were friendly.

Good food in a romantic atmosphere. This used to be a very gastronomic place, the last time i went in 2017 it was less so (and a bit cheaper). The main dish was delicious, though I have had better Chateaubriand... the dessert was quite dissappointing. Quantities were large.

This is a pretty chill spot. Ambience was nice but the acoustics are pretty bad. My table was having trouble hearing each other. The Chateaubriand an Bernaise-Sauce was pretty good. The first course was very nice, perfect even, but then I had to wait another 50 minutes for the 2nd course. The 2nd course was extremely small portion not really sure what happened. Our waitress was very friendly.

Surprisingly refined Italian restaurant in Bern. Original Italian cuisine. All are fresh and tasty. A bit pricey but the dish comes in sizeable portion. Reservation not required, you can just walk in and wait for seated.

A lovely spot tucked away in the heart of Bern’s Altstadt. This is not your typical pizzeria but a traditional Italian restaurant with a well-curated wine list and a focus on authentic dishes. The service was efficient and friendly during my last visit, and the food was excellent. One highlight is their courtyard terrace located on the first floor (second floor by U.S. standards), which offers a peaceful atmosphere. Just note that it can get quite warm in summer, as the enclosed space only opens to the sky. Still, a great choice for a quality Italian meal in Bern.

The service was excellent. I had a tasty al dente risotto with grilled shrimps and a glass of white wine which I really enjoyed: Sauvignon Come il vento. The tiramisu was delicious.

The tomato cappelletti is tasty but the highlight is the tiramisu cake. The portion is gigantic and it is one of the best I have ever had. The service is impeccable as well.

So joking my husband asked if they ran out of bread and the owner was rude and snapped at him telling him to not to start trouble so we paid for the water and left. Had the Lasagne and Pizza de Leo (prawn and salmon) at DaVinci Pizza—both fresh and flavourful. Surprisingly, the pepper stood out with its robust kick. Visited around 4pm; the ground floor was bustling, but the first floor was quieter with a nice view of the Käfigturm clock tower—perfect for a shady break from the summer sun. Prices were fair for the location and comfort level.

Another reminder to myself - don't take shrimps! It's toooo much sauce! Anything but shrimps! 😅🤣🤣 Average experience, nothing super special Shrimps are swimming in the sauce 😅 Desserts choice is quite big

Bumped into this Italian pizzeria at Bern when drop by Bern for a short trip. Enjoyed a lazy summer afternoon, sitting on open space and enjoying Calanda beer, Aperol Spritz and four seasons pizza, food taste good, good service and great atmosphere 😊

​We ordered the Margherita and the Diavola, and both were sensational. The crust (the cornicione) was the highlight: light, blistered, and perfectly chewy, just as it should be. Fresh, high-quality toppings sealed the deal. ​Fast service and a great selection of Italian beers and wines.

We especially loved the Service. Our waiter was friendly, Knowledgeable, and gave excellent wine pairings for our Pasta and antipasti. Evry dish was simple but Executed perfectly, confirming that they use wonderful, fresh Ingredienzen. Thank you!

Given the amazing reviews, we decided to give it another try. We ordered potato vada, paneer makhani with daal, bhindi do piaza and lachha paratha. And it was truly awful! All is lacking flavour, the vada were dry and probably old, thr daal rather simple and uninteresting and the paneer is prepared with the same tomato sauce that comes in canned ravioli. No joke, try it, you can taste the added sugar. And the accompanying sauces are as artificial as they can be. I then conclude that they are either paying people to leave good reviews (some of the best rates are from tourist guides) or that they used to be good but now are terrible. This is bad even if you are expecting unauthentic indian food. Not recommended at all. Oh the mango lassie was good. The other didn't even have cardamom.

Delicious North Indian cuisine - very fresh and flavourful! Warm and friendly service. Many tasty options for vegetarians such as the Shahi Paneer. Great masala chai too. Many thanks and we’ll be back when in Bern!

We celebrated the birthday of my husband at Essort. We took the 4 course menu plus wine. Everything was very delicious. Presentation was superb, but in my opinion, portions were quite modest. Prices are high but the experience is worth it. Regarding the service, it was outstanding, both owners were quite charming, cooks also very friendly and professionals coming to the table to present the dishes. Overall a great culinary experience in Bern

Everything was great at our visit. The selection in the menu is limited, which allows to offer great quality dishes. I had quail, flank steak and a cheese dessert afterwards. The dishes very really tasty and also looked great. The service was also top quality. We will go there again!

Excellent place for a high end meal. The courses can be combined to your preferences, with good vegetarian choices too. If you are vegan call ahead and they will accommodate you with a special menu. They have a lovely outside terasse with lots of greenery. Super friendly service. Not cheap of course.

It’s a very interesting restaurant with a great set of people running it. The couple could not have been nicer and more sincere. The food was top-notch and the service was excellent. I wish the room was more cozy and had some seasonal elements, but that is a small criticism.

The idea of mixing food cultures and tastes and to encourage the customers to try new dishes is always welcome . Unfortunately in this case is poorly executed and also at a really high price. The atmosphere is realxed but the environment is a patchwork. The food was a huge disappointment : the pastinaca soup was incredibly salty, the paneer was comparable to something I could cook at home, the sashimi in yuzu Bouillon was good, the risotto and sauce that came with the chicken was so salty that I couldn't eat it, the aubergine piccata was almost raw ( Raw aubergines really taste bad), the chees was good ;) . Wine and drinks were nicly choosen. Service was friendly . Prices not proportioned to the offer (200 CHF x 2 person 3 small entries each). I am not sure to be brave enough to give it another chance .

I visited this restaurant while traveling alone, and without a reservation. The staff kindly seated me at an available table, and were attentive and welcoming all night. Paulo in particular helped me understand the menu, select items, and chatted with me. The food was delicious. A wonderful experience overall!

The service here is horrible. The waiters act and speak like the clients are below them. Went there at lunch times. The food here is just as bad as the service. How their ratings are so good is beyond me. Tried 2 different dishes and both weren't anywhere near decent. Their desserts looked good but after eating the meals ordered, this wasn't even a thought. First time in Switzerland that I've not finished my meal. Personal suggestion - give this place a pass even with their high ratings!

Restaurant is small and packed. Once they assign you a table even other tables are available, you could not request to change table as the elderly waiter said they were all reserved and put the reserved sign immediately. By the time we finished lunch after one hour later no reserved tables are occupied. The Duck breast was cooked too rare and we cannot chew and swallow it. However, the Sea beam and vegetables were good though. May be it was close to tourist spot so it is kind of over priced.

Lovely Ambiente under ancient horse-chestnut trees. The food is exquisite, served by friendly and attentive staff. The only drawback is the road that passes, its a little loud.

The ramen with chicken was 3/5 which I would give 4 if the chicken wasn’t super dried. The house made was 2/5 which is obviously not my taste (like a tiger balm in the tea 😞) the beef udon was 4/5.

I tried sushi for the first time in this restaurant. It was quite tasty, but very small portions for a high price. On Sunday there were a lot of people and it felt not very comfortable. The tables are small, the passages are narrow. But at the same time it is quite cozy and atmospheric. I recommend it.

Excellent place. Very nice atmosphere, it is like eating in a small asian market. There is a lot of choice from the menu and everything looks delicious. We had the truffles gyoza and tartar crunch sushis as starter, both to die for. The main dishes were excellent and generously served. A special note to the homemade ice tea which is just the best I ever tasted. The place is very crowdy, so reservation is an absolute must.

We went in on a week night without a reservation. We were able to get in with no wait. The vibe of the place is so cool! The whole restaurant has a story. The waitress was so nice and helpful with good recommendations. We ordered jumping chicken bites, the panang curry, and the sunrise poke bowl. We visited the history museum in Bern and started to get hungry so we popped next door for lunch. This restaurant is quite nice and the service is great. They are helpful and attentive. The lunch menu has classic favourites of modern society. I ordered the burger with a salad and my husband got the ramen. The salad was wow! I haven’t had a salad that good in a long time! I thoroughly enjoyed it. When the burger came I was also pleasantly surprised. Meat was cooked perfectly to medium as asked. The burger was juicy and easy to cut in half. A little squeeze bottle of sauce was also provided so you could add more sauce to the burger. I am unable to comment on the ramen as I did not eat it. The only thing that would be helpful is to have a little allergen icon. My husband has a peanut allergy and when the salad came it seemed to have peanuts on it, he didn’t have any but I also try to avoid peanuts to be extra cautious. At lunch time, it seems like you can walk in without a reservation. However, I am unsure about dinner as I understand it becomes a fine dining restaurant. I would make a reservation if going to dinner just to be safe. A great spot and highly recommend!

We visited the museum in Bern and saw this restaurant on our way out. We sat in the nice seating area outside with a view of the grassy area - it was great weather so it was overall a great vibe. We ordered the ramen and the salad. The salad was really good and it came with sourdough as well. The ramen was very salty but otherwise good ramen texture - however beware as they ask if you want kimchi as well which we found out afterwards it was an extra 5CHF (it’s actually stated on the menu but there wasn’t an english version provided so we were confused haha)

I and my friend came here for lunch as recommended by another friend who lives in Bern. We love the atmosphere. Service was excellent. All the staff were super friendly. Food was great, fresh ingredients and good portions. We also stayed for coffee in the afternoon as we love the atmosphere so much.

I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant Steinhalle in the beautiful historic museum of Bern. We had the full gastronomic dinner and I could only stay until main course due to early train back home. That being said, most items were really delicious and above what gastronomic experience you would expect wandering on this side of the Sarine river. 😆

We visited from the USA and enjoyed the veggie-forward menu currently in rotation. The food was quite tasty and the sauces with the dishes were the stars of the show. The sauces were so tasty I’ve questioned whether or not I deserved something so delicious. The presentation of the dishes was lovely and a lot of care went into them. I think the serving sizes were maybe 20% too small. The small size, even for an upscale restaurant, paired with the somewhat unengaging atmosphere made me rate this 4 stars instead of 5. For context, one course was 3 partial asparagus. Definitely worth a visit and piqued my interested in trying other up scale restaurants in the city

High end restaurant with excellent periodically changing multi-course menu, that will be adjusted to your specific dietary needs. Very attentive and friendly service. Great seating under shady trees, with restaurant integrated into beautiful historic building. Pricey as you would expect from this type of restaurant. We found the service to be a bit pushy for additional menu options as well as drinks, you just have to say no multiple times.

In addition to being a well-known and expensive place to have a multiple-course dinner, the Steinhalle is a low-key, lovely, and delicious spot for an inexpensive lunch. Sitting outside under the enormous trees in the park in front of Bern's History Museum, I had an excellent bowl of vegetarian ramen soup. I recommend the food, the service, and the atmosphere. The menu has only a few choices, but all are vegetarian or meat.

Lovely quiet terrace off the main routes, shady areas. Great service from our waiter & excellent wine recommendations. Salad & soups to start were excellent and tasty. The mains were nice enough but we felt were expensive for a burger & veggie pasta dish. Not the best we’ve had this week. I can see this being a lovely evening spot though. Exceptional dinner. We were expecting good… but when we tasted their complimentary gazpacho which probably the best I’ve ever had we had to adjust expectations. They suggested whisky and adding a bit more spice with their beef tartare. What a combination! Again, probably the best I’ve had. The entrecôte to share with a huge ice cream scoop of herb butter was also delicious - you could ask for more veg to accompany free of charge (we had celeriac and rosemary potatoes) Throughout we tried a range of red wines, as well as their rose which was sublime. As was the service - we were in two minds as to whether to have a glass of their dessert red wine - so they gave us a sample instead. Do try this with dessert if you go! (Barolo Chinato) Overall. A real delight, surpassed expectations, one of the best meals this year.

We parked our car and went past this restaurant. We saw the guests eating beautiful cakes with fruit and had to try it. The cake was not too sweet, slightly sour (from the cranberries I think), it was just divine and perfect and complemented our coffee really well. The same day we returned for tatar which was just excellent. The service was really good and we felt really welcome.

Overall 2 stars. Too bad we actually didn’t get a chance to try food . It took them 20 min to get us the silverware. Another 10 min after to take the order . 45 min later - still no food . One one guy is sitting everyone and trying to work . The rest of servers walk around sloth like . Manager did not apologize for not having the food ready in over an hour . Other tables who got there way after us got their food and almost finished it by then. Horrible service and beer selection. .

Ordered two dishes Pizza and Pasta, Pizza was as expected nothing exceptional however the pasta was somewhat bland. Do recommend for a quick bite and street dining. Washrooms were clean and service was good. I have been to their Geneva restaurant couple of times that is too great!

What a nice restaurant I have visited. I was craving to seafoods and wanted to go Italy to eat proper seafood. But I found this restaurant 2years ago after I visited Restaurants in Imperia and planned to visit. Finally I was there. Seafoods were amazing. The knife for seafood was not that sharp but everything was perfect for lunch time. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for people who like seafood. And they make freshly oven pizzas.

Conveniently located, this place is okay for Italian food. The food was tasty but it lacked the authentic Italian touch, I ordered the gnocchi which weren’t handmade but store bought and the tiramisu could have been better.

Would not recommend this place. Ordered a salad and it came with a big snail within (ironically while ordering l was joking about snails in salad). That was disgusting. The reaction of the staff was poor. A brief apology. The pizza was below average. Sorry but this was just not a pleasant experience.

My father wanted to meet some pals of his here. The combination with the wooden tables, one of them maybe used to form a painting; The black and white photos hanging side by side with old journals, together with the lamps, lights and chandelier giving off an old timey feeling. I ordered a "Garlic, Oil and Pepper Pasta" and mind you, while it is simple it is difficult to make in a restaurant in the correct way. Usually, it would take time to give it the right aroma. In this case, the only complaint would be how spicy it was, but i'm a lightweight, and usually do not eat spicy foods. Friendlier and welcoming where the staff. Good people, nice to interact with, and over all helpful. We had a nice time, ate well and tried decent desserts. I'll gladly come back to eat here when i've got time. It was a all you can eat buffet. The food was delicious and the staff friendly. Upon hearing that i was vegi/vegan, the cook made me a special sweet and sour dish in the round bowl. Which was really fresh and tasty. We will come back

Absolutely one of the finest Asian Buffets I've been to. You get good drinks and service but the choice and quality of the buffet is outstanding! From thai to chinese over to Japanese specialities you get em all. Freshly prepared, kept warm and juicy. Pretty authentic tast except the spicyness as usual most people cant handle the original. Will and would go again!

I see all the nice pictures of the choice of sushi below, we did not have that much, only a few pieces, and the salmon one was always gone when we wanted some. Price is very high for what it is, especially if you eat outside the restaurant, like nearby the hotel rooms. I would definitely put some kind of wall between the tables outside and the hotel. Also some kind of roof and nice lighting to create a nice atmosphere which you don't get when you are not sitting inside, it's a shame, as the price for buffet is very high. Waitress was ok, not coming often to check on us.

Tasty dishes buffet style, very friendly staff, flexible with children...there is even a whole room dedicated as a playground for children right next to the tables! Very good experience for a family gathering while enjoying a good munch! We had a lovely evening thank you!

Dine-in is a must. The restaurant is quite busy so make sure to plan accordingly. Spaghetti is cooked well. There is complementary bread and olive oil before your meal arrives. The staff also leaves a cheese grater with fresh cheese on your table for the food. The decor is also well done. This creates an excellent atmosphere.

The place is always packed, my recommendation is to make a reserve in advance if you are not lucky the waitlist can be even for two hours. The food is good, prices are decent, the service is rushing all the time but they are attentive to your requests (try to avoid peak hours), In summary I'll come back.

A great place to dine in Bern. We got a menu set with a lemonade+ spaghetti all’arabiata +a salad included, and it only costs 19CHF. We also ordered a big sweet potato soup and a carbonara spaghetti. Everything tastes so nice and comes in a good portion. The soup is warm enough and comes with housemade beetroot chips, which makes it a perfect choice for a cold winter day in Bern. It costs 14CHF. The server is friendly and welcoming. Toilet is clean too.

It was a chilly, rainy day in Bern…we searched for cheese fondue- and ended up here. It was cozy ambiance, totally awesome service. It was legit! Wonderful flavour and great portion size. We enjoyed a bottle of wine with the meal. After we shared crème brûlée and two coffees. The best. We plan to return again and try the other menu items. Wonderful!

Historical place with mixed food experience. The restaurant has a traditional ambiance, and you feel like you are going back in time. The food experience was mixed: while the new vegan dishes on the menu were liked and well prepared, the traditional veal dish was a disappointment: over salted, with a cloying heavy cream sauce, noodles sticking together, a couple of overcooked vegetables - something you would get served in the last century at your cheap corner lunch restaurant. Overall too expensive for what you get. Friendly service but very busy and hard to get their attention.

Disappointed. We had traditional fondue and trout beignets. The fondue was good, but the trout was not and the french fries were not crispy. We had the above and 2 drinks. With tip $113 USD.

Quite slow, but may have been a miscommunication with the waiter, we were fine with the marrow being a 20 minute item, and meant for other items to be served whenever each was ready, but the waiter seemed to think that we wanted everything to wait for the slowest item. Kudos to the single male waiter handling the "Petite" restaurant extension, who kept busy doing many different tasks. Beef cheeks and marrow were nice. The cheese fondue was saltier than I'd like.

Was a really nice dinner we had. Good choice of wine and food was consistently good across all the friends that joined me for dinner :) Bit noisy when outside as there is a pub right next one one side and on the other side there is a take-away attracting people all day.

So, if anyone is looking for classic brasserie cuisine, here are still the delicious pig's feet or cheeks. Angus or other so-called noble cuts are not recommended, sinewy. Food arranged like in a canteen. The place and the decor is also rather used up. On all tables are plate warmers ... it looks like they are expecting another load of tourists who want to smell tradition. But only a few guests show up. Not all bad, but not exactly a reference for tourists either.

Already tired and exhausted from the tour, we were looking for a place to lunch and found, "way to india" an Indian restaurant in Bern, right 200mtrs behind the clock tower. Loved their wine collections, and the buffet. You will love the seating outside with multi-cultured customer base.

Everything was perfect - we had an amazing dinner to celebrate at Wein&Sein. Firstly, the service is amazing. You get greeted warmly and you feel right at home. The service team was super friendly. The two girls taking care of every table while the host takes care of the menu/wine etc. was just well done and everybody just really knew how to make us feel welcome. And the timing of everything was perfect. Enough time to talk to each other after each course but not too much so you were wondering when the next course is coming. You have an amazing team that you can feel wants to make the experience special. And of course the food was absolutely impeccable! Well presented, explained and the taste was perfectly balanced. We had dinner at this cozy and elegant restaurant in Bern, located in the old town. The ambience is refined and creates a very pleasant dining experience. The staff is extremely attentive and takes great care of every detail. The restaurant offers 4/5/6 course menus, along with small entrées and freshly baked bread served with flavored butters. Everything was beautifully prepared with great care, and the quality of the ingredients was excellent. Each dish was presented either by the staff or the chef, which made the experience even more special. They also have a very good selection of wines, we chose a lovely bottle of champagne that paired perfectly with our meal. Overall, we were very satisfied with our dinner. Congratulations to the entire team for offering such a wonderful dining experience!

This was probably one of my best dining experiences in Switzerland. I booked dinner for my wife's birthday on la fourchette for a Friday night. We were trying to find the restaurant but kept walking past it, as Google maps took us to the spot where the restaurant is, but we didn't know that we had to be on the outside of the sidewalk and go down the stairs to the basement. Once we found it though, we were quickly seated and offered a drink and an amuse bouché. I liked the ambient music and lighting. The music was not loud, which allows for conversation without having to yell across the table. The restaurant seemed full, but not in a crowded way. The restaurant has it's courses set up in a way where you aren't brought a menu, but rather you can choose options within a a course. We chose the 3 entrées, and opted for the wine pairings, which was great. The food was amazing. Each dish had lots of flavor and was unlike plain traditional cuisine. After we finished our main, which i believe was veal steak, we were offered either dessert or a platter of cheese. As we asked for the bill, we were also offered some house made chocolate, which was a nice final touch. Most surprisingly however, i had added a note on la fourchette that this was a birthday dinner, and we were surprised with a cake and candle. This was a great end to the experience. The staff was also genuinely friendly and happy, which we both enjoyed.

We had a salad for starters, a pad Thai and fried rice. The dishes were good. The salad had a nice dressing and the friend rice was delicious. The pad Thai had a little too much sauce for my liking but the flavor was good. Service was great and really friendly. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere.

Had lunch at Fugu with my family and I have to say it was amazing. The owner was extremely friendly and recommended menu items based on our palette and dietary restrictions. Highly recommend if you are looking for a fusion restaurant in Bern!

Nice asian (mainly Japanese & Chinese) in the center of Bern 🇨🇭 Friendly staff, at your disposal, the restaurant itself is very well presented, the tables are big and it’s spacious, for every dish you order you have sauces at your free disposal. We came this place and ordered the fugu platter, wasabi beef, tuna tataki — everything was more than wonderful!!! And we were sooooooooooo satisfied about the dessert - must order: Chocolate Chili Ice cream, and Fondant chocolat with Matcha ice cream — very authentic and original 🥰 The sencha and fugu blended tea are both super tasty to drink We highly recommend and will come back again ! Ps: weekend waiting time is incredibly long - we were angry at first 😜

The Haberbüni Bern is an elegant restaurant in Bern Liebefeld. We went there for lunch. They had daily specials and à la carte dishes available. I had the daily special - barbecue veal neck roast, a dark sauce (demiglace?), fresh seasonal vegetables and papardelle. The veal and the sauce were gourmet-level. This kind of dark sauce with roasting flavours is only served in high-level restaurants. The special also included soup and salad. For around CHF 30, this is more than fair. Prices for à la carte dishes, especially in the evening, are more highly priced. The service was professional, maybe a little reserved. Overall, Haberbüni Bern is a safe bet if you are looking for an elegant restaurant with an excellent dining experience in Bern.

Good idea to turn a barn into a restaurant. It was difficult to find but we finally found it. The Christmas decoration was nice and food was excellent. They use very good quality ingredients and each dish is lovingly decorated. Good and attentive service. However the waiter was a bit uncomfortable towards a woman and prefered to look during explanations mostly to my partner.This may have something to do with the peasant character of the restaurant like converted barn, the name etc

This restaurant at the top (5th) floor of a multi functional building (including an Aldi market) delivers class and quality. Warm and stylish interior makes you feel relaxed. They serve a very nice house made ice tea! I loved the very friendly and helpful waitresses in this place. Will come back again during my next visit to Bern.

On vacation in Bern and ate here for dinner. Food, service, and atmosphere were very good. We started off with a mixed salad with house dressing which was ok - nothing special. The presentation was lovely and the salad ingredients were good but I didn't care for the dressing. I'm used to blue cheese or ranch and their house dressing was very different. For the main we had beef from Zurich with a mushroom cream sauce - it was very good. It also came with shredded, pan-fried potatoes and Bernese market vegetables which were both delicious. For dessert they served fruit, lemon Gelato, and lemoncello mascarpone cream which was very good. The mascarpone cream was exceptional.

Pleasant restaurant in the middle of Bern next to a church. We easily got a table outside with a view of the Church surroundings. Friendly, English speaking and attentive staff who gave us everything we needed. Got the veal and Rösti with a glass of red Syrah wine from Valais. Food was delicious, well prepared, and prices were comparable to other restaurants. We enjoyed dining here and would definitely come back to have dinner again.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely. The interior is very spacious but maintains a cosy feel. We ordered the pumpkin spaghetti and the bratwurst. The spaghetti was good and the salmon tasted fresh. The bratwurst was much better. The two mustards that this dish is served with really made the meal.

Great schnitzel and chips, but we were disappointed we didn't get to try their apple tart and weren't aware there was a 45 minute lead time for it. I went to this restaurant with high expectations, and the food was indeed excellent. They also have some dishes that are not too expensive, and the dessert was also delicious. So this is an excellent option, and no doubt this is a reason it is in the bib gourmand list.

The food was truly delicious – the porcini mushrooms were fresh, the soup was excellent, and the lady who took our order was very kind and friendly. However, aside from her, all the other staff made my companion and me feel strongly and clearly discriminated against, which completely ruined the dining experience. Details: • When we entered, no one came to greet us despite several staff passing by. We were only seated after another guest pointed us out, and even then, no menu or water was provided until we specifically asked, and waited a long time. • During the meal, the servers just dropped the dishes on the table without a word, no explanation, no smile – yet I observed that other guests received proper attention. • At checkout, I even saw one server refuse to handle our bill when asked by another. The bill was delayed for a long time and, when it finally arrived, the attitude was impatient and dismissive. For a Michelin-recommended restaurant in Switzerland, this kind of discriminatory and disrespectful service is simply unacceptable. The food deserves praise, but the service destroyed the experience.

I loved the soup of the day (pumpkin soup), the carpaccio and the bread. The bœuf bourguignon and coq au vin were good, but maybe not in my taste to fully appreciate them. The service was great and to the point: we were offered a taste of carpaccio. Atmosphere: typical French brasserie and quite elegant.

I see that there are two contrasting sets of opinions about this place: those that are very enthusiastic about the food and those that consider it nothing special. I must say I share the later opinion. Definitely nothing that deserves waiting over an hour to be served or the price. The waiters were quite nice, hence three stars for the service despite the long wait.

Great saisonal Food in the neighborhood

We went there for a birthday dinner, and the overall experience was disappointing. The shared salad bowl was tasty and fresh. The vegetarian dish hiwever had dry pieces of polenta, with overall little flavor and lack of some sauce to make it more interesting. We thought the daily fish plate was very expensive at CHF48, considering the somewhat pedestrian peas and mushroom veggies that came with it. Our server was curt to the point of being unfriendly, never came by to ask if we wanted another glass of wine, and no thank you or good by when we left. Considering the price point of the place not very satisfying.

A relaxed place...after some searching for a brunch place, this one was recommended to us. A stroke of luck. No overpriced fancy small dishes with a catalog of additional little things for an extra high charge, but a good selection for every hunger and desire. The Egg Benedict with lots of spinach is delicious. A small selection of extras is also available. The service is friendly and fast, the restaurant is old but cozy, and the location is central with a garden overlooking the city life. If you want to enjoy brunch in the sun, you should book after midday.

The worst fondue I've ever had. The bread and potatoes was stale, the cheese was of poor quality. The waiter was very sarcastic and curt, trying to take the food away before you finished it. It made you feel uneasy. This establishment is completely unbecoming of a beautiful city like Bern. Definitely stay away.

Excellent mediterranean restaurant in the middle of the old town. The flavors were amazing and service excellent. We tried 2 vegetarian dishes and came away impressed with the taste and presentation both. Would come here again to try their new specials.

Found this place on a whim heading back to Geneva, and would come back just for this restaurant. We got salad of fresh green leaves for starters. I got the Casarecce Pasta (green and white asparagus, peas pecorino, black pepper) although I could have sworn it had garlic in it, and my coworker got the beef tartare. Would go back for just the beef tartare because it had spice to it, a tomato base/paste of some sort, and plenty of pickled flavors. I love alliums and flavorful food, so these dishes hit the spot for me, and, coming from a diverse dining scene in Los Angeles, I gravitated towards the restaurant’s inventive menu.

I ordered tap water and the waiter replied in a very impolite way that they do not have that. The ecological footprint of bottled water is about 500x higher than the one of tap water. Refusing to serve tap water is not only a way to rip off clients, but it also denotes a complete lack of understanding about sustainability.

This restaurant was highly recommended in a blog that I read & had very good reviews on Google maps. Also, it was next door to the hotel we were staying in. We were disappointed with our dinners. Our server was not very nice and attentive. He said that he had to charge for tap water if we didn’t buy any drinks. So we ordered beer and mulled wine.

A very nice lunch meal in a traditional Swiss restaurant that is over a century old. The Oxtail and Viennese Schnitzel were both very tender and tasty. The menu and old decor were both very interesting. The service was too professional. Not friendly, not warm, not totally cold either, just professional if you get what I mean and eating out in Switzerland is generally awfully expensive and here is no different. Overall, this place is worth a try.

Doesn't meet expectations. Food is average service is not good and price are high. The pumpkin soup had pesto inside which hiddens all other flavours and did not taste freshly made. Wine selection was poor as well as dessert offer. Location is dark and average age super high. I can't seee the value in eating here again

I wish I had read the past reviews more carefully. We traveled to Switzerland from Japan, and most other shops and restaurants warmly supported us, even though we aren’t fluent in English. However, this place was different. They clearly discriminated against us as Asians. They treated us with a very condescending attitude because of our language difficulties. It was deeply, deeply upsetting. I can’t believe there are still people who behave in such an immature way. We also had to wait for over an hour after ordering, and by then we had lost our appetite. I truly wish we could get back the happy time this experience stole from us.

Was not impressed with this place. Saw a high star rating and thought it might be good, but it’s best to stay away. I agree with another reviewer that the service staff either do not care about their customers or they are prejudiced against other races. After we ordered our food, the server snickered at us. Then when we asked for the bill, we had to ask for 3 times and they still have not brought us the bill yet even though we were in a hurry to catch the train. After asking for the bill, we turn around and see the waiters chatting with each other instead of getting us the bill. Would not recommend this place to anyone visiting.

Disappointing. Food was bland, void of taste and flavor. In stark discrepancy with the prices, strenuously justifiable by the location. We had the coq and entrecote, and both were forgettable.

Great food, excellent service. The outside tables that they set up on the street in the evening can't be booked, but if you show up early enough, you can grab a table and enjoy the ambiance. It had filled up completely by 7, and some tables were empty again at 7:30. They actually took a table form inside it set it up outside for a group of 6! Absolutely the friendliest service from any Swiss restaurant I've ever been to.

Great place. The very young and new owner did an amazing job. We took the 'menue surprise' and were not disappointed! The pairing of the wine and food was excellent, portions were of perfect size and service was exquisite the entire time despite all tables being busy. Can highly recommend.

We just ordered a main as the portions are big but got bread with a lovely olive and sun dried tomato tapenade while waiting and a gorgeous house-made Madeleine which was delicious. Best non-cheese based meal and spatzli I've had this trip to Switzerland! Highly recommend

Herjit was excellent taking care of us especially we arrived at the time of closing restaurant traveling from Zarmatt. Even then the food quality taste presentation was excellent! My kids asked if we could eat there next four days until we are here!

Amazing food, especially the cordonbleu and the moussaka. The service is always super friendly and professional. However the interior is always packed and its very crowded.

Had dinner here tonight and the food and service were outstanding. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. All the food was excellent from the bread that came with the capsicum dip to the guacamole and then our mains the snitzel and chips, which was the best I’ve had. The menu is wide ranging and impressive.

When studying the menu, I already had my fingers over the "cynical criticism" keyboard... Who can make a menu like this once across the world and then it's supposed to be fresh and authentically cooked? I thought I'd make it difficult right away and ordered the Poussin. Must be dry and boring (sorry, I was on a test trip)... But far from it, it was worth the wait. I've rarely had such a juicy bird on my plate, with crispy fried skin and a dream of a sauce. My partner was also very happy with her trip to the Balkans (Etli İspanak)... the other girl with the moules l'indienne was ok, but next time she said she would opt for a more traditional Moules with white wine instead of curry. I'll definitely be back...made me want to try more. And you can enjoy it here too, with attentive, friendly service.

Typically, restaurants with such a diverse menu aren’t very good, but this place is an exception. All food is excellent & the service is very welcoming/friendly. I also love the vintage charm of the place & it is nice to sit and have a few drinks at the bar too. One of the best spots in Bern. :)

Good restaurant, but it was a bit hot inside and had a strong cooking smell, which I didn’t prefer. The Lasagna and Penne Pasta were good.

The food was okay, We had to wait around 30 minutes for our food to be served, which seems to be common in Swiss restaurants. My son ordered pork, but it looked undercooked. We weren't sure if it was undercooked or if the pink color was due to it being mixed with ham. To top it off, I spotted what looked like a worm on the plate. When I brought it to the waitress's attention, she insisted that it was an onion. This incident really put us off our meal.

The staff were friendly and informative. The food was divine. I loved all my meal, but especially the Polenta and NZ Lamb. Tasted so good and tasted like home.

We ordered 4 pizzas which were brought very quickly(about 10 minutes) and tasted very good either. Except the waitress was a bit unfriendly but still, I‘d love to come here again.
