A cute town that our cruise ship stopped at for the day. Lots of small shops and restaurants located throughout the town. The harbor is beautiful and imagine more so at night.

Syros has magical bays & crystal clear sea. Swimming there has been amazing. All private enterprises in Ermoupoli and other villages are amazing, shops & restaurants offer great food and lovely decor & ambience.. however the island municipality does nothing for its residents or tourists. Not enough buses, not enough taxis, the roads are not clean, even the main square in Ermoupoli (which is beautiful), you walk on dirt, there isn't a single metre that is clean. The lack of taxis is a serious problem, walking around isn't easy at all. Also, the rubbish isn't collected ofte enough. Finally, also very important, there's no shade provided on beaches, the heat is absolutely unbearable, there should be thousands of umbrellas on all the beaches provided free of charge by the town hall. You have to fight for shade under a tree, where lots of other people are, it's crowded and uncomfortable. We negotiated sun beds and umbrella with a hotel, the deal being we would buy breakfast and lunch from them every day. The island offers no services to tourists at all.

The island is incredible! The water is crystal clear, and places like Ermopouli and Kini are easily accessible by bus. Kini beach has beautiful sparkling sand and great food.

Only the center where the marina is located is beautiful and it only takes a few hours to see. There is no need to stay a night in this island. Also the beaches are very windy and hard to swim. The beaches are mediocre with no toilets and facilities although you pay around 30-50 euros a set of umbrellas.

Stunningly beautiful island, filthy beaches, dirty water. Shockingly rude staff and terrible service all around the island- in every aspect- hotel employees, taxi drivers, waiters, sales personnel- in Ermoupoli and the villages also. For seven days there and tons of our money spent there, there were exactly 3 businesses in total that did good job servicing us. Visibly different- much better treatment- for the US/Canadian tourist. Greek tourists were visibly not welcomed on this island. I have travelled to so many of the Greek island and never have seen such thing- EVER. My Greek husband was beyond shocked.

If you're in Greece and taking a trip to Syros, this restaurant should be on your list. The place itself is beautiful; the way they combined the bougainvillea trees and the old building will leave you enchanted. Plus, the service is fabulous—very friendly and helpful, and some of them speak Spanish, something you'll find quite a bit on the islands. The cocktails were very good, and I give them a 9/10, and the food was also 9/10. You'd even think it was a gourmet restaurant, but the portion sizes were very generous and the flavors were delicious. The only thing they took a while to do was give me the bill; they should pay a little more attention to that detail. But overall, it's a 9/10 and a place you absolutely must visit on your vacation or while in Syros. This restaurant is excellent. I⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Mazi is a beautiful restaurant with a wonderful aesthetic and a truly romantic vibe. The food was tasty and enjoyable, though considering the prices we expected a bit more attention to detail in the service, or perhaps a small complimentary treat at the end. Overall, it’s a lovely spot worth visiting, and with a touch more refinement it could easily reach perfection.

This restaurant was just perfect! Perfect food, atmosphere and decoration! The service was also very good. I would definitely recommend it and visit it again!

The place has nice atmosphere and decent coffee but it’s completely overpriced and the portions are small. We also ordered a portion of just scrambled eggs for our kids as a side dish and charged us 10 euros for it, when we complained they reduced it to 9 euros. This is ridiculous.. very disappointing especially for Greece. Even in London they don’t charge so much for literally 3 eggs. The island has a lot better options with higher quality food and service.

Worth a visit that is a large square for visitors and locals to hang out. There are benches to sit and watch the locals. There are restaurants and shops nearby. If you’re in the area, make sure you visit the old town hall which is steps away.

You should walk in the Town Hall for a few minutes if you’re strolling around town. The city hall also serves as the lower and intermediate court and there’s a cafe frequented by lawyers and their (arrested) clients. The second floor host the mayor’s office and the city council’s deliberation chamber - that is quite well presented with large paintings from the last century and quite out of place for an island in the Cyclades

Amazing square where all young and old gather once the heat of the day has passed. Beautiful with many shops and places to eat surrounding.

One of the best and more vibrant spots on Ermoupoli. Nice and big square, with an interesting architecture. Situated in the heart of the town. Surrounding by a variety of shops. Do not miss a visit to the glorious town hall of Syros when strolling around.

19th century new classical building

Miaouli square is at the heart of Ermoupolis Syros. In front of the square there's a Andreas Miaoulis statue with two cannons and behind that you can see maybe the most beautiful Town Hall in Greece, the Syros municipal Town Hall. There are palm trees outside of the building as you can see in the photos.

A great twist on a typical aperol spritz! The best ever made Gin Tonic, a great add-on to the island and a must go for sure. Nice design inside, great suggestions when it comes to aperol and Gin, friendly and helpful staff. Value for money and with high quality ingredients.

One of the most beautiful bars on the island. Their attention to detail and service is fantastic - whether you are there for a morning coffee, a fresh juice or a glass of wine in the evening it is the perfect place to relax.

Nice place for breakfast or brunch, especially for windy days. The food was great, we especially enjoyed the pancakes with the lemon cream. Nice touch the ceramic coffe mugs and plates with the signature.

An exceptional little cafe/bar in one of Syro's small alleys. We went there for a snack and left excited after trying their coffee, fresh juice, sandwiches and spoon sweet. Simple menu but with a twist, excellent ambience, amazing music and very friendly staff. I loved their neon sign reminding me La La Land's Seb's. I could easily see myself becoming a regular had I lived on the island.

Nice views, however the food was average at best. The menu is very limited to only few dishes, therefore I expexted great cullinary experience. However the price tag of 20 - 30 EUR per dish does not meet quality, taste and size of portion.

One of the most picturesque spots in Syros by far!! Excellent views for a coffee, lunch or dinner. Do not miss their home made lemonade from freshly squeezed local lemons:) Good quality of snacks and coffee. Can't comment on food, as the kitchen was still closed when we went. I would highly recommend booking a table in advance, especially if you are planning a visit for lunch or dinner. This place can get extremely busy!!

Excellent service overall. The staff is very polite and they are very willing to answer questions and suggest plates from the menu. The plates are interesting to try all of them with creative ideas. The view is also amazing as one can see Ermoupoli from high up. Definetely call to make a reservation so that you make sure you find a place as it can get pretty busy. Overall it is recommended for Syros as it offers a good balance of food and scenery.

Great views, and excellent service with delicious food. The fish was cooked very well and had some delicious veggies on the plate. However the food was quite expensive - €9.50 for a Greek salad and €18-20 for mains is a lot more than other places on Syros. I suppose with the beautiful views, you should expect this. It had a touristy vibe - It’s not traditional Greek food, also they were out of non alcoholic beer and said they only usually have Heineken free (which was disappointing considering all the amazing local Greek brands they could choose like Fix, Eza, Mythos, etc).

Delicious meal in a lovely location. We ordered the lamb (deliciously soft) and the kids got the burgers (teriyaki sauce gives it a sweet kick but very good). The Greek salad was also delicious.

Staff should not be rolling their eyes if we decide to eat out on the terrace insted of staying in. We even took out the drinks oursevles. Prices and menu alligned with stunning views. Staff not so much. Do better!

This isn’t a beach so much as a sun deck and a place to swim, but whatever it is, it’s a great place to jump into the sea and catch some rays in Vaporea. The water is stunningly crystal clear and it gets busy on a hot day, so get there early to nab a spot! Pro tip: take something comfortable to lay on, like a yoga mat.

The show was sold out but we were told we can get last minute tickets at the door. We were there 30 mins before the show, told to wait out which we did. People were queuing up and tickets were being checked but suddenly stopped because there was a mass of ticketless people and behind them the people with tickets lining up - what a mess. No crowd control whatsoever. Everyone was just standing still and waiting for either their tickets to be checked or to be allowed to go in. So we never made it in because the chaos was already the show. I give the star for the love of arts, the artists performing and the building but the staff needs a crowd control class.

An interesting place, worth a visit. Very well maintained. There is a tiny museum. It becomes more interesting if you read the history of the theater before going. Check online, if you are lucky, there will be an ongoing opera or a theatre play.

This beautiful building is a powerful symbol of the island's immense cultural and economic boom in the 19th century. ​It was constructed rapidly between 1862 and 1864 to designs by the Italian architect Pietro Sampò. Although the exterior is relatively simple and neoclassical, the interior is where the magic lies. Sampò was reportedly inspired by at least four Italian theaters, including the famous La Scala in Milan, earning the Apollo the nickname "La Piccola Scala" (The Little Scala). The theater officially opened on April 20, 1864, with a performance of Verdi's "Rigoletto". ​The velvet seats and ornate ceiling paintings (restored later) create an atmosphere of pure 19th-century elegance. Even if you don't attend a performance, just stepping inside to see the beautiful auditorium is worth it.

Lovely theater - well worth it to catch a show here. Instead of an orchestra seat you should go for the mezzanine or upper story cubicles (helps with COVID too as nobody is wearing masks). Note: (almost) no AC during shows. Dress light!

One of the most beautiful theatres I’ve saw. The 2€ entry fee is defo worth paying. The theatre resembles the famous Scalia from Milan. It’s really nice decorated and preserved. The staff working there is friendly and helpful.

The place was more than amazing. The guy who took our order was super kind. However, the blonde waitress who handled our payment at the end was aggressive and not kind at all — without any apparent reason. Maybe because we wanted to pay while she was in her phone I'm really sorry to leave with such a bad experience in the end.

A very nice and cozy bar at the heart of Ermoupolis. You might need a reservation if you visit it on summer holidays because it is oftenly gets really overcrowded. The staff and the waiters were very kind and friendly and helped us on what to choose to drinks. Fair prices in general. Will definitely visit it again in the future!

For those of you who wish to visit a more alternative cafe on the island of Syros. A cafe with character and good music. Ideal if you don't want to spend a fortune on beer and other drinks and for spending fun time with good company at the same time. It is in the port of Syros, with tables just by the sea. Easily recognizable from its colorful chairs. Great for groups of friends. A place where locals hang out.

This bar is located at the very end of the harbor where it is a nice location, near to the parking lot. The tables are by the sea which is nice. It has also low prices. However, the menu is very limited, it lacks basic beers and cocktails but the worst thing is the rude and inexperienced waiters.

Good cocktails. Nice decor. I was here a few nights ago and we had a cocktail each and was surprised that some customers were offered by the waitress before paying the bill a glass with some free drink. We weren’t and that felt unpleasant & arbitrary.

I have no clue how my brother and I stumbled upon this place since it was kind of hidden, but I am so glad we did. Though the drinks were a bit pricey, it was totally worth it. We also got free popcorn with our drinks which was nice. Our server was so wonderful and kind. He gave me and my brother suggestions on which drink to try and I was so glad because everything looked good and I wanted to try it all. I ended up going with the vodka açaí drink and my brother the rum lime drink (I think). Great drinks, great atmosphere, and great music. If you’re in the area and you want a good drink, check this place out.

Love the food here, I actually come here whenever I can however the last two times I have been here the service has been appalling. The servers don't pay attention at all, you won't get asked if you need anything else, your plates won't get cleared and if you want to order anything more or pay your bill you would have to find an ingenious way to get their attention. They are more interested in what is on their mobile or arguing with each other than they are in whether you are there or not. This is very unfortunate as this is a beautifully set up location with fantastic food, great prices and delicious cocktails. They could absolutely raise their standards a little.

Cosy place in front of marina. Decorated well. Friendly and well trained stuff to serve. Vegan / vegetarian menu available and not just vegan dishes! Salads was generous in quantity and overall food quality was more than good. It could be said that this place doesn't just serve good food but also a cosy experience

Very nice place with a cozy design, with a big selection of wines 🍷 and fresh and tasty food. Had a spring rolls,prawn tempura 🍤 and potato chips with cheese,- the best potatoes I ate in Greece so far!

A great spot w this seating right on the water. We stopped here for breakfast a few mornings ago, the food was great and a good portion. Coffee was good as well, we had a cappuccino and expresso. Everything was fresh. I’d suggest going early as it is nice and quiet out on the main road.

It’s the funniest place I have been to. It goes like this. Can we have a fanta? - sorry no fanta. - Ok than coke zero. - We have only normal coke. - Anything without sugar? - no nothing. - Ok, do you have prosecco? - What? - Sparkling wine. - ah sparkling water! - no sparkling wine. - what? - wine? - yes we have wine. - please bring a glass. After all she brought a glass of sweet wine. But she was really kind.

Like to dance instead of idling around, drink in hand? This is the place. Drinks were pure. Service was very friendly and the DJ kept us on our feet. On the night I went there the barwoman was celebrating her birthday and at one point we ended up dancing macarena all together.

Peirmatiko is an excellent bar/club and probably the best in Syros. The staff is very friendly and the prices are low. Also the drinks are very enjoyable. I'm addition their also host some popular DJs so it's good to keep an eye out for that!

We had such a blast there... DJ Kostas Xagoraris played a diverse set of music, we enjoyed it soon much. Friendly stuff, great prices. Totally recommended

Good music, interesting cocktails and friendly staff

Great atmosphere and quality drinks!

Very rude and unprofessional behaviour. I accidentally threw my drink on the floor and they charged me the glass. I did not have the chance to taste my drink as I had just order it. I live in UK and it was the first time in my life in a bar that I had to pay for the drink and the glass for the accident I had. The owner came and asked me to pay the money. In general, the staff very rude. I had to wait for my order more than 20 minutes. I spent 35 euros there and my friends in total more than 250 euros. Waste of my money. Please avoid to visit that bar. There are many bars in the area with polite staff! PLEASE RESPECT THE OTHERS! We are tourists and we deserve a good behaviour.

Loved this spot because it's near the sea but also you get to see the wonderful marble paved commercial street of Ermoupoli. We went there several nights and tried different cocktails -must try the Fragosiko, Petimezi and Lalari. Also worth mentioning - the staff was very friendly

The staff was not so friendly when we returned our beer bottles and asked them if there was any bottle fee for them. Although on the bottles it clearly said "refundable bottles", they pretended that they don't understand what we asked them. For sure the 'pfand' is a small amount and nothing significant for a beach bar that sells a 330ml of beer for 4 euros, but the way of pretending that they don't understand what we are asking was shameful. Edit regarding the response: No, I'm referring to the exact same place, I didn't say you charge extra, of course it is already included in the price of 4 euros per bottle. I'm saying that on the bottle it is written that they are returnable, so the pfand is collected by you. And when the customers ask you - you reply that you don't know which is so unprofessional. This is a lovely canteen on a sandy beach. Clear water just 15 minutes from town. Calm and relaxing atmosphere with umbrellas and cafe tables. No sunbeds on the waterfront blocking access to the beach! The canteen itself provides excellent and affordable snacks, drinks and food. Very friendly service!

Had amazing drinks on the rooftop. Staff were super professional and fully attentive, always topping up our drinks, nuts and water. Nice views from the roof and very comfy seats. Paid roughly 14€ a cocktail but they were well made.

One of my favourite places in Ermoupoli is the Aristide rooftop restaurant and bar, especially in the twilight. The cocktails are the best I have ever had and the service is always so kind and absolutely impeccable. During my last trip to Syros I had the chance to attend the Aristide Restaurant picnic and it was an incredible experience. The atmosphere, the food, wine and service were amazing. Each course is tasty and beautiful and the ingredients are many from their own farm or locally sourced. Even if you are not a hotel guest you can enjoy all their restaurant has to offer and I really recommend it.

From the food, to the service, to the place/atmosphere, we loved everything about the Aristide Restaurant. We had breakfast/brunch in the picturesque and zen-filled garden, a romantic dinner on the rooftop with the most lovely sea and harbour views, and a special picnic arranged by the restaurant at a private farm. No matter which item we picked off the menu, the Restaurant did not disappoint. The burned cheesecake will always have a piece of my heart (it was SO good). Also loved the various versions of omelets I tried at breakfast. The picnic was also hands-down one of the best tasting experiences we had (oh, and it comes with plenty of great wines for those of you wine lovers). I would note that the Restaurant sources from its own garden and local farms, so all ingredients are organic and super fresh. Overall, I would highly recommend trying this restaurant out when you are visiting Syros or booking one of its special experiences (picnic, wine tasting, etc.)!!

I wanted to plan something different for my family and friends who were coming to visit me in Syros. After seeing a number of photos and also experiencing the cuisine first hand at the hotel, I thought Aristide’s picnic would be a perfect way to spend a summer afternoon. We were all blown away to say the least! The food from start to finish was absolutely amazing. Every single dish by the chef was thoroughly put together, delicious and truly exemplified what you can do with pure, organic products. At one point I pointed out to my mother that anyone could happily become vegan after experiencing the number of vegetable dishes and dips. That being said, the meat dishes (pork and beef) were mouth watering good! The wine was excellent, the service exceptional, the attention to detail and the atmosphere of dining on a long picnic table while nestled in a lemon grove made it a truly memorable experience.

The restaurant at Aristide is one of a kind: the amazing views at the rooftop is matched by excellent food & wine, and warm hospitality. The kitchen is inventive and yet rooted in traditions. Fresh, tasty, balanced, colourful - the kind that makes you dream about the meal days after. The Greek wine list is very well curated, quality all the way. Be sure to also try the cocktails - they are beyond words. We also had breakfasts in the garden, you can’t go wrong whatever you order from the rich menu. Enjoy!

We thoroughly enjoyed a wine tasting at the Aristide lead by the head chef who clearly has great knowledge of the wines of Greece and a palate to match. The setting was extraordinary- roof top at the Aristide with views of the Aegean is very special. Such a memorable night and so enjoyable we booked for dinner a few nights later. Again our expectations were exceeded. It was a refined, thoughtful and creative menu with carefully sourced ingredients. After a few nights eating in taverns ( which we also enjoyed) this was more of a special dining experience and one we will remember. We will book again when we return to Syros - which we intend to do - soon.

The most beautiful atmospheric terrace with probably the best Negroni I have ever had. Extremely well decorated hotel. The food was tasty and well presented. Kicking people out when there is merely 10 people inside... "you need reservation" they say... laughable. When you ask around nobody says a good thing about the place, apparently they only allow certain people there, and it's very visible. Stay away and enjoy your time anywhere else on Syros.

The staff are not friendly at all. They let people drink until they aren't able to stand on their feet. Usually staff should stop serving drinks when they see that someone is really drunk. When I've been there the first time one guy got totally drunk. They kept serving him drinks and when he lost control the 2 ladies that were working there were making fun of him. I said I would not go back there again but I decided to give another chance. The second time I've been there a lady that was working there was making nasty comments with another staff member about a customer. The waitress that was making the comments wasn't even pretty enough to dare to judge that customer. I felt so irritated. Totally all the staff are really uneducated. The place is dirty. I guess they don't clean and maintain health and safety. Fire your staff and get professional people that want to work and not to make fun of people!!!

Unfortunately this bar serves methylated drinks. I ordered a tequila Patron and what the waiter brought for me to drink was plain alcohol, a very bad imitation of tequila. He insisted that I would go with him so the barman would open a new bottle in front of me... I drink Patron for many many years and I can tell when a drink is BAD! BE CAREFUL because you can end up in the hospital after such a bad drink or even worse!!

Very nice and trendy place. At the moment Suerte is a "must" for nightlife if you visit Syros. It has nice decoration good service and the layout of the tables outside is innovative for the "standard" of the island. Music is also great.
