Nestled in the vibrant heart of San Cristobal de las Casas, Hotel Bo is a chic boutique hotel that perfectly blends modern elegance with local charm. Just a short stroll from iconic attractions like the Ex-Convent of Santo Domingo and the Mesoamerican Museum of Jade, this family-friendly haven offers an array of amenities including a fitness center and bike rentals for those looking to explore. Guests can indulge in delectable Mexican cuisine at LUM, which boasts lovely garden views.
I had the best experience at Hotel Bo! The staff is very professional and friendly. Everyone was very attentive to our needs, and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The gardens were so relaxing with the sound of the water and the beautiful greenery. Amenities in the room were so luxurious, loved the body cream! It was a superb experience!

Hotel Bo is without a doubt, the best place we stayed during our trip through Chiapas. Out of the five hotels we visited, this one stood out for its stunning design, cozy rooms, peaceful courtyard and the library was a nice touch that made it hard to leave. The staff was AMAZING —so warm and attentive. They made everything about our stay comfortable and effortless, always going above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. The food at their restaurant, LUM, was delicious, and the location is perfect—close to town but still so relaxing. The thoughtful touch of gifting each room a handcrafted stuffed animal when we left was the cherry on top. Everyone in our group was pleased with the experience.

The Hotel Bo in Chattanooga is a great place! Starting with Ericka in reservations and working at the registration desk. She is so helpful and friendly! Then, April in the breakfast nook is very friendly. The manager Dale, is without a doubt the most engaged hotel manager I have met. I saw him cleaning the pool, helping clean a room, working the registration desk, and chatting with guests. In addition to the great staff, the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable! And my favorite part, the pool is fabulous! Clean and a comfortable temperature. We are looking forward to being back there next year.

This is a very nice place for the money. The staff is professional and kind. A shout out to Erika who checked me in and made me feel welcome. She deserves a raise. The pool and bar area are both very nice. Clean, comfortable rooms!

This cute boutique hotel has been a dream for me and my girlfriend to stay in, although we couldn’t really speak Spanish, the staff was able to speak English and where very kind and helpful in terms of advice and providing service with trustworthy taxi and other services. We had a wonderful stay. The hotel is in the center of the town of San Cristobal, which is very beautiful and safe to visit. Everything in the center is reachable by foot. We would highly recommend to go and explore the historical Mexican beauty!

Located in very quiet area, yet about 10min or less to get main area of town, this is great Hotel to stay. Rooms maybe missing mini-bar (fridge) but service and area will just cover that portion. Stuff are very welcoming and even at late night.
Haj T — Google review
The restaurant at Hotel Bo has been a favorite of ours since our first visit to San Cristobal. In the past we were delighted by the quality of the food, the ambiance, and the service. Sadly, our last dining experience at Hotel Bo was one of the worst we’ve had in some time, mostly due to the terrible service. My husband was served his main course and then it took another 30 minutes to receive mine. There were no apologies, and once the problem was obvious, the wait staff disappeared. It was bad.

On 12/09/23 My family and myself attended a wedding at this hotel and we ALL got food poisoning. The only thing we all ate that was the same was at this wedding. We all woke up tremendous stomach aches and diarrhea.

El Arcotete is a nature park located just 4km outside of town, offering a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking trails, cliff rappelling, caves to explore, campsites and zip lines. The area features La Casa de Mazariegos and the City Hall constructed in stone. Visitors can enjoy the tranquility interrupted only by the sound of a stream flowing through El Arcotete's naturally formed arch.
Had s beautiful time at the Grutas el Arcotete, I didn’t go on a tour I took a colectivo is only $15 pesos just have to ask which one goes there I like to go on my own because I take as long as I need and nog rushed like sometimes by tour guide.
Lamberto V — Google review
The caves are quite cool but overall an underwhelming experience if you are used to nature. Should you have some time to kill, it is worth a visit but don’t break your back trying to get here. The individuals working there are not friendly, greeted us with their hand out, and tried to keep my partner’s change. Entrance fees are 10 for the park and 15 for the caves. There is a 5 peso charge for bathrooms. The zip lining did not look very exciting. I saw no horses. The water is very polluted. There were a handful of rainbow salamander creatures which were quite beautiful. They did have snacks and drinks for sale as well as a restaurant on site. On departure, they wouldn’t let us take a marked taxi and wanted us to get into one of their own unmarked vehicles. I didn’t get the best vibes overall. We ended up taking a collectivo back, which you catch just up the road.
Heather S — Google review
It’s pretty cool, but not really a destination. The cave is kind of interesting so if you just wanna get outside of town and do a little nature walk, I’d say it’s OK. One tip would be to take the collective vote bus as a taxi this sort of a rip off it basically will drop you off right in front of the entrance and save you a bunch of money
Danny G — Google review
So magical, I can't believe that I almost didn't come here! Definitely take the time to also explore the fantastical gruta and to appreciate the forest canopy from above at the mirador! Just 15 pesos straight from the downtown area to the entrance of the park every 8 minutes until 6 in the evening. When I was there it was 10 to visit the arc and 15 to go into the gruta. Well worth it!
Candace C — Google review
magic place, nice walks, fresh air, local people take so nice care🙏
Romana E — Google review
The level of enjoyment you get from this place will depend on your expectations. If you are expecting a well organized, entertaining activities and lots to do, you might be disappointed. It doesn't have a lot of information, it is run by local indigenous people in a very laid back, simple way, and although there are different things to do, it is not overly entertaining in itself. The entry is $10 pesos p/person. There are grounds you can walk or bike through. Fun place to take photos. The natural arc rock is free. The Zipline is $150 per person, and it includes two ziplines. Was safe enough. To enter the grotto is $15 pesos per person. This is kind of different and fun. But crowd control is not practiced: it can get a bit cramped in some of the small places. Also hard access for overweight or really tall people. There were also option of boat rides, rappelling, camping and tightrope. But we didn't participate in those. My teenage children moatly enjoyed because of the novelty of the grotto, riding their bikes and the ziplines, and they had their drone and camera to play around taking cool photos. It would've been nice to take a picnic, or to rent a palapa and have a BBQ on the grill, but we didn't plan accordingly. Overall, it is a lovely spot for a day out in nature. It was so clean and fresh, and plenty of families were out and about enjoying the sunshine. It has a restaurant and a comedor selling snacks, but we didn't try those out either. I gave it 5 start because it is really is a nice place to visit, I loved the grotto, and the excuse to hang out with my family. But I also understand that it is not a highly modernized and efficient tourist attraction.
Vanessa A — Google review
Beautiful and unique spot. There's an entry fee of 10 pesos per person for the park and then a further 15 pesos if you want to go into the caves. Definitely worth the extra 15, atleast once. Stunning and strikes a nice balance in eco tourism. Well looked after, but still allowing us to go in and enjoy the place.

Amazing natural place that is so close from San Christobal, just take a local bus! The caves are incredible and so much better than ever expected! Also just perfect for a lovely walk in nature or a picknick

Nestled on the outskirts of San Cristobal, the Reserva Ecológica y Jardín de Orquídeas Moxviquil is a botanical haven dedicated to preserving orchids and other native flora. Established in 1994 as a private initiative, this garden has grown into an essential part of PRONATURAs conservation efforts. Visitors can explore its expansive grounds featuring around 5,000 plants across three distinct environments.
A nice walk into two orquídeas greenhouses. The visit offers one or two activities. You can visit both greenhouses and a two-hour hiking or just greenhouses. Due to time, I just visited the two greenhouses. I took all the time I needed, although it is not flowering season, there were a few orchids with flowers. It is worth the visit outside of the tourist area.
María G — Google review
A really special place. Even out of season there were plenty of interesting orchids to look at. I also saw several hummingbirds! It is very peaceful and the staff were friendly and welcoming. I was unfortunately too late to do the hiking trail but it looked lovely too.
Emily S — Google review
We paid 50 pesos per adult for the tickets, and our kids got in for free. The hike was quite challenging due to its steep incline, but the breathtaking scenery made it well worth the effort. It took us almost two hours to complete the entire loop, including several breaks to take in the stunning views and catch our breath. One of the highlights of the trip was definitely the botanical gardens along the trail—they were beautifully maintained and full of vibrant, exotic plants. Overall, it was a memorable experience that combined adventure with nature’s beauty.
Justin V — Google review
I walked from el centro, and was hoping the 30-minute walk was with it. It was! Slow down in the orchid house. So many tiny orchids in bloom that others missed because they just walked quickly through without looking closely/carefully. It felt good to walk on dirt trails after a week in the city that is all concrete. 100 MXN for my admission. Totally worth it for the serenity and gorgeous property.
Aura G — Google review
Nice place to run away from the city noise. There is some easy hike for a few hours into the "forest". Good for birdwatching. Just probably could be slippery after the rain. And need to pay 50pesos for it. Looks like, available at some days hike/tour with the guide, that should cost a bit more. Small garden + orangery full of orchids, quite cozy. As well with some bunch of birds, like hummingbirds :) I definitely recommend for nature and plants lovers. Friendly and cute staff:)
Jelena V — Google review
Nice trek, took us around 1h30 Enjoy the garden Tips, just take your Time
Sylvain A — Google review
Wonderful place, especially for those having a green heart 💚. It comprises the orchid garden (there are more than orchids there) and the natural reserve. The tickets are sold separately (but they're not expensive). The natural reserve is a nice hill, which can be walked in 3 hours round trip (due to time I did not do it). If there is a group, you could have a guide through the orchid section. I highly recommend. Don Manuel knows a lot and is very passionate about all plants. Definitely a huge bonus when visiting this venue. All in all, one of the best outdoor activities to do in San Cristobal.
P. P — Google review
We really enjoyed our afternoon here. The trails are great ( wear good footwear) the pines are tall and the forest is beautiful. There is a cave down by the river that you can check out. The orchids in and out of the greenhouses and other flowers were absolutely stunning! Friendly staff, and easy place ( 30 min) to walk to from Centro San Cristobal.

Hotel Kukurutz Residencia is a sustainable and family-friendly accommodation located in the Barrio de Mexicanos, just a few blocks north of Centro in San Cristobal de Las Casas. The property offers 8 uniquely designed apartment units with fully-equipped kitchens, providing a comfortable and homey stay. Guests can enjoy mountain views, kitchenette options, laundry services, and pet-friendly rooms. The hotel is managed by a friendly couple who ensure an enjoyable experience for guests.
Laura and Cesar made our stay here an absolute delight. Top notch property in a garden like setting is amazing considering what the rate is. Well beyond our expectations. Daily maid service and unique rooms are an added bonus. Quiet and dog friendly. Highly recommend.
Larry M — Google review
A place with a very friendly and helpful couple managing not sure if they are also the owners or not. Unfortunately the apartments are starting to show their age. We had to move to different apartment because my wife could not sleep in the bed in the first one. It was like trying to sleep in a hammock or a bowl. The second one had a really bad smell of mold and mildew in the bedrooms. I recommend you check the room first and if there isn't anything you can't live with stay here. The monthly rent is very reasonable. The nightly rate seems a little high. With the exception of the mentioned issues the place is very nice.

Posada Santa is a charming rustic-style hostel located in a quieter area of San Cristobal de Las Casas. The rooms are uniquely decorated with Mexican-style touches, creating a cozy and homely atmosphere. The hostel offers private and dorm-style rooms that are spacious, clean, and safe. Despite its location being misrepresented on Google Maps, the hostel's actual address is 56 instead of 34A.
The best accommodation! ! The terrace is so cozy that you can spend the day forgetting about sightseeing. The location is good near Centro, and both employees and guests are very peaceful. I'm so glad I chose this place for my first trip. I will definitely come back to posada Santa

We stayed at Pasada Santa for 3 weeks while visiting San Cristobal, we only planned on booking for 1 week but we loved the place so much we stayed for 3. Tammy and Matty who run Pasada Santa are the loveliest couple and they really went out of their way to make our stay perfect. My 8 year old daughter is a massive animal lover so the fact they had a dog was awesome, she fell in love with Lupita 🐕❤️ The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the shared patio and outdoor kitchen area is vibrant and fresh, a great spot to relax in the sunshine away from the hustle and bustle of the lively streets of San Cris. Very reasonably priced and ticked all the boxes for us. We were sad to leave but will definitely return if in San Cris in the future. Betty, Rob & Beau Manchester, England x

Quite decent I’d say. We had the twin room which meant to separate rooms but with no door. Price was decent and the staff is lovely. It’s a really relaxed place with a wonderful location.

The best place ever! Tami, Mati and Lupita are all LOVE, and there are always fresh flowers around! They are kind and very sociable people, always eager to help. They are super easygoing and the make everything so easy. They speak many languages what makes comunication a pice of cake. Thanks for everything. One LOVE!

Google maps has this charming Posada shown a block away from it's actual location. The address is 56, not 34A. Small, cozy Posada. We booked based on price, location, breakfast included and the fact that a heater is in the room. We visited in February and nights can get frosty. The friendly staff speaks limited to no english so better brush up on a bit of spanish. They will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. The rooms are clean and the water is hot. When we first checked in a propane tank had to be changed but it was long hot showers after that. Oh...and in our room the plumbing was reversed, hot on the right, cold on the left, hehehehehe. Maria was the day desk clerk, maid, cook and go to girl. She speaks limited english, and our spanish is very poco, but we made a connection. Always smiling, Maria serves up an amazing breakfast. If you're looking for a polished Hyatt or Marriott experience this isn't it. But if you want clean accommodations at a reasonable rate take a look at Posada Santa. We stayed 5 nights, and wish it could have been longer.

Located in San Cristobal de Las Casas, Palace SCLC Hotel & Brewery offers unpretentious rooms and a laid-back atmosphere. The hotel features a bar, courtyard garden, and breakfast for guests to enjoy. It is conveniently situated near the historic center of SCLC, making it easy to explore the city's attractions. Guests can also take advantage of free parking and pet-friendly rooms with city views.
Excellent stay. Room was cleaned with new toiletries and towels daily. Furniture was relatively new and in good condition (except for a few old stains on the bedding which was otherwise clean and well laundered). Staff were very friendly, helpful and communicative on WhatsApp, accommodating our late checkin with prior notice. Excellent central location a few blocks from the central plaza, and great value for money.

We recently had an extended stay at the Palace Hotel, and our experience had its highs and lows. The Internet service was somewhat limited, mainly confined to the lobby. Additionally, we found a scarcity of power plugs both in the room and lobby. However, the standout feature was the exceptional customer service. The staff, particularly a young lady named Zuly who was available in the mornings, went above and beyond. Zuly's warmth and genuine care made us feel incredibly welcome throughout our stay. Despite the minor inconveniences, her outstanding service added a special touch to our experience.

Brewery on premises and only 1 beer on sale on a Saturday afternoon! And that needed the complimentary ground nuts to take away the taste. Nice bar area, that with some brewing ability and management could be a great spot. But not yet.
Nick D — Google review
Hotel is a great value. Clean, simple rooms. Great location to the historic center of SCLC. The staff helped us arrange tours and taxis when needed. Small restaurant on site for breakfast and coffee. Wish they had a working filtered water station instead of small plastic bottles. Internet is very slow in the rooms.

The place is nice but walls are very thin so you can hear your upper, lower and side neighbor so basically you will hear the whole building. Also there's only two outlets for a double bedroom'
Pamela B — Google review
OK update. After 1 sip I returned the horrible beer. They charged me. Came again BEER, IPA, IS HORRIBLE. I WILL NOT RETURN. Do not waste your money. So disappointing. From a year ago...... What I enjoy here is the beer. It is new brew pub and hotel. In time the beer will be great. Give it a try. Great service friendly workers.
Cisco D — Google review
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I don't love their beers. I think they all have a sour taste, and that's not what I'm looking for in a stout or a porter. On our first visit, the beer was incredibly flat due to some issues with the carbonation. They seem to have fixed that issue on a subsequent visit, but unfortunately the sour taste is still present in every beer of theirs that I tried.

(Translated by Google) Staying at this hotel is an experience that may not be cheap, but it's well worth it. The rooms are very beautiful, all decorated with beautiful things that you can even buy if you like them. They have a museum/art gallery where they exhibit much of what they do. The service and attention were impeccable. From the reception desk to cleaning the room, the entire staff was very friendly. It has beautiful gardens where you can walk and relax. We also saw that they offer spaces for social parties, which is a plus because it's very beautiful. The only downside is that it's not very close to the city center on foot. Therefore, it's not close to the bus station if you go by bus. But if you go by car, you can get there very easily. The room we rented was magnificent, had a very comfortable bed, and all the amenities. A huge bathroom with a shower and also a mini-pool/jacuzzi outside for relaxing. It's an experience we would do again because, despite the price, it's worth it. We were very satisfied.

(Translated by Google) They have terrible service. They don't have enough towels to provide each day of your stay, so if they get dirty, they simply don't replace them. The towels are in terrible condition and are handed to you torn and frayed. They don't provide soap even though they see you have almost none. The walls are very dirty, the wooden floors in the rooms have holes in them, and as soon as you arrive, they tell you that if you break anything in the room, they'll charge you. The restaurant closes at 6 pm, and there's nothing nearby. We won't go back. Nestled in the vibrant heart of San Cristobal de Las Casas, Suculenta Hotel Boutique is a delightful blend of modern industrial design and lively decor that invites guests to unwind and socialize. This colorful haven is perfect for travelers eager to connect with fellow adventurers. Just a short drive from local attractions like Galeria MUY and Na Bolom, it offers easy access to the city's cultural gems.
You must access this super fun bar via the Suculente Hotel. Go up to the roof where there are stellar views and highly creative cocktails. Reading the menu alone is entertaining. For example, my husband had “it’s all about the corn”. The waiter helped us navigate the menu to find the perfect cocktail for each of us. Be sure to check out this bar when in San Cris.

Well, it’s complicated. On one hand the place it very chic, only 8 rooms. Rooftop bar with cool drinks, coffee experience with the lovely Fernnda, l'occitane products in the room and emphasis on sustainability. On the other hand, no ac in the rooms, loud noise from the bar till midnight. They also set us with not the best guide tour.
Nitzan H — Google review
A very nice place. The hotel itself and the rooms are beautifully decorated. There is a bar and a small restaurant on the roof that play loud music that disturbs the guests. At the entrance there is another restaurant where they also have breakfast. The hotel staff is kind

Person at front desk gave us a tour of the place (the bar and restaurant) but said we were prohibited to take pictures unless we ate 😆Well, a week later on a Sunday morning we came back to eat on the rooftop terrace and service was TERRIBLE. Many things were not available from the menu and more importantly no one came to check on us; took them forever to do anything. The workers seemed like teens who had no idea what they were doing. For a place that prohibits you from taking pictures, I would have expected better service. Laughable and ridiculous to be that pretentious when you can’t do the basics. Please do a reality check and stop pretending you’re upscale. You’re a tiny boutique hotel no one has heard of in San Cristóbal; you’re not the Ritz Carlton in New York. 🙄 If you’re looking for a rooftop bar and restaurant, please go to Kinoki on corner of Benito Juárez and real de Guadalupe. They have more food options and the servers there won’t forget about you if you’re on the rooftop.

I just went to the cocktail bar on the terrace - it's called Ginger Bar... I have no idea why they don't have a separate Google Maps listing - anyway this place is the business - incredible cocktails - not the usual generic stuff - these guys are mixologists - spectacular views over the rooftops - patio heaters - blankets if you need them - super nice staff - Daniel and Fernanda - highly recommended 👍

It offers amenities such as wireless internet, complimentary breakfast, and an airport shuttle service for convenience. Situated on Francisco Madero No. 81 in San Cristobal de las Casas, Mexico, it is located just a short walk away from the Mayan Medicine Art Museum.
One of the few pet friendly hotels available at town's center. It is a quiet, very affordable hotel, with basic services, very clean, with a first class staff. A good place if you want to be close to the interest central area, leaving your pets in a very quiet place. The attention of the employees is probably one of the best you can find

Didn’t stay in this hotel, but on the other side of the road. After a long trip to Mexico without sleep there was nobody for check-in at our hotel that we booked and we couldn’t reach them by phone. Waited for half an hour outside. Since we just arrived we had no Mexican SIM card yet so no internet. We asked at Hotel Posada Las Casas if we could use their WiFi for a minute to contact our hotel. A very unfriendly reaction followed and they didn’t allow us to use their WiFi for one minute. Not really helpful..

(Translated by Google) I stayed here because I was attending a family wedding. It's worth mentioning that he was given his own room as a hotel guest, and as part of the service, which included the rental of the ballroom, with a king-size bed, a single armchair, and various amenities. His fiancée was provided with a bungalow. I occupied a double room with two double beds, very comfortable by the way. Inside, there's a bathroom, shower, vanity, a small built-in closet with hooks, and a safe. Facing the beds, there was a trunk, a desk, an office chair, and a television. The climate control regulated itself, keeping the room cool, neither too cold nor too hot. I slept there two nights when it was cold and rainy, so they also provided us with extra blankets. The only downside was that the internet didn't work properly due to the rain, although the rest of the experience was very good. The doors to each room have double locks for added security.

Despite being a 10 to 15-minute drive from downtown, the hotel provides tranquility and peace after a long day of traveling. I chose a spot outside of town purposely. My dog had plenty of open space to share with their friendly pups. Very happy I chose this place. By far the best for comfort, safety, friendliness, want to return feel. Restaurant connected only 8-1 and perfect. Great food.

Everything was perfect on our stay, the attention from the staff was excellent, they will go that extra mile that you most need on your vacation. The rooms are very comfortable, although the hotel it’s about 10 to 15-minute distance from downtown, but that offers you quiet, tranquility and a lot of peace after you long day of traveling, also a cab will take you there with a fee of $40 MXN at least; you may ask for it in advance on the hotel front desk. They have a variety of lunch special, but on Sundays, its buffet time, there you can have a variety of Mexican meals. The dinner at the wedding, according to many of your guests, was one of the best wedding dinners they ever had. (Picture included) The hotel has its own Pox drink, please, don’t hesitate in try some of this beverage, but ask for the one that has fruity flavor, or if you feel some kind of adventurer, try the “natural” one. Outside there it’s a lot of space, you can play soccer, frisbee, even have a run within the premises. It is very highly recommended, it is very comfortable accommodation for couples, and family.

If you do not require phone service for work, there is a complimentary campsite available outside of town on an empty plot next to the El Encuentro Natural Park. Alternatively, you can choose to camp within the park itself (closed on Saturdays). This camping spot is peaceful, lush, untouched by human interference, and notably distinct from your typical supermarket parking lot. The natural beauty of this place is well-maintained and comes at a small fee of 10 Mexican pesos for access.
Wonderful place I went to an event called colors of the death and it was beautifully well made, everything was awesome, the people, the community, all the stage and the artists presented. El encuentro by itself is a very beautiful place, with a river and a waterfall that I find really peaceful. It is the place if you are looking to connect with nature and also don’t hesitate to go to an event here . No matter the price , I promise it is worth it .

Great eco park. Very close to SC and still totally natural. There is a little natural restaurant and they even grow their own fruits and veggies. Located in San Cristobal, Hostal DÉJÀ VU offers the cheapest dorm beds in the city, making it perfect for budget travelers. The hostel has a boutique feel and provides various amenities such as an onsite bar, shared kitchen, and cafe. Private rooms come with bathrooms and are well-maintained. The location is convenient, with the airport and attractions nearby.
I stayed in a private room here for a month, and for the price, it's the best room I've ever stayed in. I think (need to confirm) all of their private rooms come with a bathroom, and having seen some of the other rooms, they're all so so nice. It was super comfy here. Often during the evenings, you can hear some musicians jamming together in the common space, which I actually enjoyed! The location is right next to centro, but the street the hostel is on is quiet - it really doesn't get more perfect than that. I actually miss it here and wish I stayed longer! Seriously, it's the best value I've ever gotten. Also, shout out to the manager Diego, he's super awesome - really caring, gets to know every guest, often chatting with us and making sure we're all doing okay :) I also love that the quiet hours are followed (or well enforced) here, lights out and it's actually quiet later in the night! I highly highly recommend Hostal Deja Vu!

Worst hostel I ever been. Rooms were dirty and stinky, shared areas dirty, dogs walking around losing hair and peing in the plants decorating the shared areas. Often there was no water and when available cold. After many complaints finally it was made available 2 rooms with private bathroom for shower. Both rooms were dirty and stinky .
Gabriella A — Google review
DON’T GO THERE. Worst hostel I’ve ever been to. One star because we met one formidable traveler there. No water, or when there is it’s crazy cold, very dirty (try to imagine the one toilet shared by everyone not flushed for 24 hours), rooms stinks, the kitchen has litterlay not forks, spoons or knifes, and cherry on the cake, the owner isn’t facilitating at all. Don’t trust the good comments, they are from 4/5 years ago, I presume when the place was bigger as they didn’t cut half of it to create a coffeeshop inside.
Julien D — Google review
Good value before the price and location. Can be a bit noisy as the dorm rooms especially one of them is next to reception also illuminated at night and early morning from this. If you want to leave your things in storage the charge you if you don't take your things by 3'Oclock. So not the best hostal but a good value for the price and right next to Guadalupe. I have stayed here on and off for years but for some reason I was denied staying for now. Can be a little dramatic at times as I noted the past few times. Lowered my review to one star because of this without understanding why. Not saying don't stay here because it's right next to Guadalupe just note if you are willing to walk a bit there are some better options.
J D — Google review
NIGHTMARE HOSTAL I stayed two nighs with my friends… the worst hostal I’ve ever been at. The hostal was filthy, it stinks, there are two dogs living there sleeping on the sofas, one shared shower for all the guests, no hot water. The guys that worked there were sorry about the situation but they couldn’t manage it. Trust me, don’t go there!
Marika N — Google review
!!!DANGER!!! Read the other 1 star negative reviews before you consider checking in!!! Some creepy stories here include disgusting behavior by the owner. My partner and I walked in to check for a monthly stay. After seeing an option which seemed good we asked the receptionist if we can leave our bags (2 small backpack and a guitar) somewhere while we check other options for a few hours. She said yes and pointed to where we can leave our stuff. We wanted to stay there before reading the other reviews here about the owner's behavior which scared us. When we got back, our bags weren't where we left them. The same receptionist said the owner got back and told her to move them away and charge us for storage. Our bags were kept hostage to force us pay the arbitrary amount he decided on! This has NEVER happened to me anywhere in many years of travels! We still considered to stay but wanted to talk directly to the owner for a couple of minutes to feel the vibe as we did plan a monthly stay. He refused to talk to us, not even coming to say hello. We decided we won't stay there and paid the extortion fee as we preferred not to start a fight when our bags were held hostage out of sight. While the place may seem fine, we won't recommend anyone to stay there as it seems the owner's way of treating people is scary and dangerous. Please read other reviews here. There is a big number of 1 star reviews which made us feel unsafe staying there and the behavior towards us has confirmed their validity for us.
Amir C — Google review
I stayed in the forms and it felt quite dirty. The people were nice, the staff wasn't that nice. Only real pro Is the price. And I guess you really do get what you pay for. The hotel features a fusion Korean-Japanese restaurant and offers free parking. Guests can enjoy free WiFi access in public areas. While the hotel does not have an elevator or on-site parking, it has been recently renovated with beautiful, barely-used furnishings and youthful chic style.

Absolutely terrible!!!! It was so bad, I switched to an AirBNB. LOOK ELSEWHERE! Noisy, dirty, rude, no car parking. They claim to be pet friendly, but you’ll need to walk three blocks with your pets (there are tons of stray dogs running the streets). Muy feo!

We recently stayed at the Helverica hotel and I was really disappointed with the service: twice in the morning, there was NO hot water, the maid also forgot to put tissues in the room, and this was even when I called to ask for some at the reception desk, but what I was VERY upset was that one day after I had gone shopping and putting my purchases in the room (there are NO drawers to put away things), I went out for lunch not before asking at the reception desk to please put some towels in the room, that I came back that afternoon and "someone" got some of my jewelry that my husband had just bought for me at the Ambar Museum... the hotel was clean

There is a pizza restaurant on the ground floor that permanently has music at too high a volume, it can be heard in the rooms and is very annoying. But that's not the worst, the hotel faces directly onto a billiards which means that at night from the rooms you can hear absolutely all the noise from the billiards, the voices, the music and the noise. I had to leave the room during the first night because it was going to be impossible to rest. There are a thousand better options. Don't stay in this hotel. (Original) Nunca se queden en este hotel. (Translated by Google) An elevator is very necessary, although there are only two floors, it is difficult to climb the stairs with suitcases if you are going to stay for several days. There are also missing blinds on the room windows. Light comes in very early. The good thing is that aesthetically it is very beautiful. The bed is delicious and I think the shower is the best of all, it comes out under pressure, heats up in 2 seconds and is very clean! I would consider staying again if they had an elevator or at least a ramp to carry suitcases up (Original) Es muy necesario un elevador, aunque solo son dos pisos, está pesado subir la escalera con maletas si se van a quedar varios días. This charming hostel prioritizes sustainability while providing guests with an unforgettable experience. The accommodations range from cozy dormitories to private rooms, all crafted with natural materials and equipped with eco-friendly amenities for a guilt-free stay.
Really nice place to stay in San Cristóbal. I stayed in the cabin in the back yard for a week and on another trip in a private room in the main house. Super clean, good breakfast, tasty coffee and the staff and owner are kind. Excelente value for money. The cabin is really quiet if sleeping is a challenge.

Great place to stay in San Cristobal. A very warm welcome by the owner and staff! Rooms and bathrooms are very clean, and a good breakfast. Has also a very cute garden in the back. 1 min walk to the Main Street and a few to the main square. Early checkin and checkout was no problem at all. Thanks for everything and will stay definitely next time again

Really lovely little hotel/hostel! The private room with a private bathroom is massive, the daily breakfasts are simple but delicious, and the staff are nice. Shared kitchen is also very clean. Very central location!

We spent five days in Hostal Casa Gaia, It was a great experience, the staff is amiable, and we had good times with Gustavo, the owner. The room is cosy and well decorated, the prices are also accessible, and the breakfast is tasty and come in a significant portion. The shared bathroom is also cleaned many times a day and offer quick hot water. Overall we warmly recommend staying in this hostel.
Guillaume L — Google review
My stay at Casa Gaia was not really pleasant. Good things first, it's really well located, has a well equipped kitchen and a pool/ping pong table. However there's no hostel vibe at all. The majority of people are long-term residents or volunteers who behave as if they own the place. It's a nice community for them, but I didn't feel welcomed at all. They barely greet you and the only communication happens when you play music they don't like. During our stay they told other guests what to do and what not to do and complained about other guests. Even in the kitchen you felt very unwanted, because they were occupying it almost all day, leaving very little space for other guests. Not the owners fault but the techno club next door was playing at max volume starting Friday at 3pm and Saturday at 8am continuing all day. I can definitely not recommend it, though it could be really nice if it wasn't for all the above.

One of the best hostels i have been at! Every thing was perfect. Great facilities, big kitchen with every thing you may need, comfortable bed,hot water, a sherd space with tv( netflix and more..), a big outdor balcony and generaly good chilling vides. Can really feel how much Diana the owner loves and put her effort at the place!

A very special place. This is a warm and welcoming hostel run by a young family who know hospitality. We intended to stay for a week but ended up staying more than 3 weeks it's so wonderful. The location is near to/in the center and great for doing your daily shopping or eating out. The hostel has lovely funny dogs and a wonderful garden for relaxing, that humming birds! visit. They have a well equipped kitchen where people cooked, chatted and shared recipes and food. Hot water all day, good wifi. The owners know everything about everything San Christobal, Chiapas and beyond and are always helpful. Thanks to the atmosphere created by the family, we made new friends and chatted the evenings away with extraordinary people.

Staff is absolutely amazing! Rooms comfy and warm in winter (ask for another cobija) HOT WATER and strong shower which are important to me when traveling. Close and easy to walk to centro without the noise! Food was excellent!! Consider a spa day with a jacuzzi pool in the (teeny ) spa! I got a specialty massage for 90 minutes for $25usd (500 peso) !! I will definitely stay there again.

Great place, service and awesome price. rooms can get a bit cold during winter and the vegan breakfast is actually vegetarian. Which was okay for me though and it was very good.

Breakfast is included, water and coffee are available in the hallways 24 hours a day, and cleaning and towel changes are provided daily. The service from all the staff is excellent, but a special mention goes to Erick during the day, the other Erick at night, and Guadalupe in the kitchen, who, along with everything else, made our vacation incredible. As an additional note, on the longest tour we took, from 4am to midnight, they prepared lunch for us. We were the only ones there; no one else in the van had any. It was a lovely touch. If we ever come back, Arte Sano will definitely be our hotel. Definitivamente si volvemos, Arte Sano será nuestro hotel. ❤️

Breakfast is included; it's a buffet; you help yourself to eggs, beans, salsa, small pancakes, cheese, fruit, and coffee. You can help yourself as many times as you need to fill up. The front desk staff is very attentive and friendly, as is the kitchen lady. Overall, I give it a 9, because of the room and the fact that it's a bit far from the nightclub scene. You have to walk three blocks if you're already going out at night. It's better to take a taxi. I recommend the hotel, as the price is fair for what it offers. I hope to return soon. I have such a love for this warm and homely hostel. I arrived here after a series of unfortunate events and immediately felt welcomed and calm. This place really feels like home in every way I really recommend it. I kept rebooking because I didn’t want to leave. There are two reasons first the people are so nice and friendly that very soon it feels like a family ir huge group of friends living together. Secondly the comen eras are separated from the rooms so it is possible to hang there until very late. And in general the place is beautiful and the people are amazing.

Great place to party, relax, or get work done. Full circle! The staff, and owner have great family vibes. They are all great hosts, and a LOT of fun to hang out with. They are also hard-working, and very accommodating at all hours. The hostal is quite large with many different common areas, including a roof terrace, and outdoor spaces. My favorite detail of this hostal is that the common areas are separate from the dorms, and the dorms stay quiet, even during a party. You can play music and dance all night, and not disturb anyone, or you can get some rest no matter what is going on. Multiple Wifi routers for work. Cleanliness. Spaciousness. Cats. Puppy. Books. Instruments. Great vibes. 6 Stars.

Step into the past and experience the perfect blend of history and modern comfort at Historika Hostel Cultural. Housed in a beautifully restored colonial building, this charming establishment boasts tastefully decorated dormitories and private rooms adorned with antique furniture and captivating artwork that celebrates the city's rich cultural heritage. Guests have praised the hostel for its safe environment and the warm hospitality of its volunteers, who offer engaging activities such as cooking delicious meals, music lessons, gardening sessions, art workshops, and discussions on compassion.
As a traveller, I have known and stayed in a lot of places but nothing like this hostel. It made me feel safe at all times, surrounded by the nicest women I have ever met . The volunteers work non-stop for the community. They cooked delicious lunches and taught me a lot about music, gardening, art and compassion. If you are a woman travelling in Mexico, you must come here, there is no other place where you will feel more at home, except your own home haha And a plus it's the cost! It didn't cost much and I had all the services, hot water, a good bathroom, an excellent meal and a nice and warm room. I am finishing my stay today but I know for sure I will come back. Thanks Historika for so much love.

Wowowow this hostel project is amazing. The owners are so beautiful and kind. When I first arrived in San Cris I found there to be alot of men (the hostel I stayed before historika I was the only female) so to find and all female sanctuary here with beautiful women and a safe space to stay I felt so much relief. The owners are fantastic musicians as well so it is easy to join them and their friends out in town. With a garden in the back , yoga mats, tiendas and affordable coffee near by, it is easy for this place to feel like home away from home. Incredible family lunches every day for a low price (I believe 40 pesos) really is the cherry on top of a great stay (that and the very hot showers to help you with the cooler temperatures of San Cris).

Our stay here was perfect! The staff were wonderful, incredibly attentive and helpful from start to finish. They went above and beyond to fulfil our needs. Additionally, the staff have great connections to local tour companies and arranged very affordable and enjoyable tours for us to see famous sites in Chiapas. The property itself is in an ideal location in the heart of the city. The room was beautiful, very clean and had fresh and cosy decor. The room has all the amenities we wanted including a coffee machine, hairdryer, tv and aircon/heater (although we didn't need it). It has a beautiful terrace with a lovely view of the city. The breakfast was offsite but was a short walk away and we enjoyed the walk in the morning and the breakfast itself was delicious.

Unfortunately, there were insects and a lot of dirt on the bed. No reception was available, and after we contacted them, there was no response at all. This was after we upgraded the room and paid extra money. We asked them to come and handle this and move us to another room (the hotel was not at full capacity), but they didn't give us any response or alternative option. We had to leave the hotel in the middle of the night. Among other issues, the rooms are not soundproof, and we could hear everything happening in other rooms when walking through the corridor.

(Translated by Google) We reserved two rooms for two nights. The rooms are very nice and super clean. The hotel is decorated very tastefully, we liked the style and attention to detail. The guys and Josseline at the reception were super friendly. The position is optimal, in the center but away from noise. It has a panoramic terrace where you can enjoy the view of San Cristobal. Breakfast is served outside the structure, about 5/10 minutes walking next to the cathedral: they offer a menu with several options and they are very delicious. We loved it! (Translated by Google) Unfortunately I read the comments late. The last ones totally true!!! Appalling. *I chose it because I wanted a place a little more “Nice” for my birthday (there being cheaper options)*, since in photos it looked better, and I assumed that for the $$$ and photos (very well taken) it would offer what it charges. Many bad points to consider and that I hope will be remedied for future guests! - *SMALL IN EXTREME:* Extremely small room. Upon entering the door, 2 steps and you bump into the bed and/or bench. - *ZERO PRIVACY:* The bathroom literally faces the common hallway. The door is made of glass, you can see and hear everything. - *GREAT INTERNET* We ended up watching the movie in pieces on Pluto TV because it didn't load. And I spent more time checking the internet connection without success Connect to my NETFLIX. Small TV… which with the internet I wouldn't even have noticed. - *ZERO ATTENTION: IT IS NOT A HOTEL* They only contacted us when the card was not accepted (due to delay in seeing the payment and the digital TC CVV changed) I really could be bad but it seems that they only care about money, not the comfort of the guest. As the previous comment said: *^^^They didn't have any more guests and they couldn't give us a better room for the price they charged us *$800* and the few amenities and attention they offer. Being the only guests^^^ When we asked if he could give us one with a window he said it would be *$200 more* and that another reservation had that room! There was no one else!!! - *AND THEY DON'T LET YOU CANCEL IF YOU MAKE A RESERVATION!* when they told us about the room they were going to give us, we wanted to cancel but they won't let you because there is no refund… but it is not very pleasant; And I clarify: it is nice... but it makes the couple's room uncomfortable. - *It is NOT a HOTEL* 🚫no one was ever at the reception to say hello or goodbye or good night or answer questions. Even my boyfriend and I made a joke about the “ghost hotel of the Shining” since no one was ever at the reception nor did the guests arrive because they didn't give us a room with a window. *Hopefully they can provide better care since in the Hospitality sector human interaction is basic* - BATHROOM: The toilet bowl did not go down at first. After we moved it already worked... Something that evidently should be ensured that it works before delivering since it is not a task that we would like to do. The bathroom drain did not drain the water when we bathed. And the most irritating thing: - DON'T ENOUGH PLUGS: Literal: TV, below the coffee maker and a fan need 3 plugs. (NOT AC, which should be a minimum) = 1 plug in total. For coffee you disconnect your TV and then if you want air you don't drink coffee and if you watch TV none of the others (how stupid not to put a multi-contact). You choose an amenity of your preference because you can only connect 1 thing!! It even seems like a black humor joke: They put the coffee maker there so you can't drink it and thus leave it for the guest who continues to be angry ♀️🤷🏻 and doesn't prepare ah coffee like this remains intact😒 -In the side bureau you either connect the night lamp or your cell phone or the iron... = 1 plug. Anyway... choose your amenity because it is one or the other. Really 🤯😤😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 The bedding is very nice… and the paint in the room is also very recent. The decoration is very pretty. It's all nice but it's not enough for comfort. (Original) Desafortunadamente lei los comentarios tarde. Los ultimos totalmente ciertos!!! Pesimo.
