Basilica
Sights & Landmarks
Basilique Notre-Dame du Port de Clermont-Ferrand is a restored 12th-century Roman Catholic basilica adorned with sculptures and inlaid stone mosaics. This UNESCO World Heritage site offers a captivating journey into the world of Romanesque art. The basilica, built of beige arkose, underwent full restoration until December 2008.
Beautiful old medieval church. Free entry. Beautiful stained windows and decorative ceilings. Worth a visit
Louise N — Google review
Visiting from Rue Robertus gives you a better view of the basilica and it's unique geometric shaped architecture. It was empty during the weekend giving a peaceful atmosphere to the visit. You have an access to the crypt too! Overall, it's a lovely romanesque styled basilica worth visiting for some peace :)
Akshay R — Google review
I was rubbed a little but the building was beautiful so I was stroking with a view
Crimson C — Google review
Truly amazing church of roman style. No further alterations in later centuries, but original as it was in 1140 when it was built. Ther is also a crypt below the apsis. The ceiling is very beautiful , in the area of the choir it is obvious that the architect had difficulties to combine the different elements into a cross shape. A must see when in clermont ferrand.
Hartmut P — Google review
Make sure to check out the geometric designs at the east end on the outside!
Ben C — Google review
A beautiful romanesque basilica with typical chevets and mosaics, among the five greatest churches in Auvergne (Issoire, Orcival, Saint-Nectaire, and Saint-Saturnin). Founded in the 6th century, burned down and rebuilt around the 12th, the building has been restored (questionably) in the 19th century, finally a major restoration programme took place in the church interior at the beginning of the 21st century (to clean the stonework and remove the 19th century cement adds) after the basilica was added to the UNESCO World Heritage (1998).
M. M — Google review
Lovely small basilica with stained glass, shrines, and sculptures.
David G — Google review
Impressive church, my wife prefered it to the cathedral. Lovely crypt and a very helpful chap chatted to us for ages about the place. Well worth a visit.

Lina B — Google review
One of the remarkable art institutions in Clermont -Ferrand. It looks like a modern building but contents really historic artefacts back to medieval times etc. I was really impressed by the museum, it’s worth visiting it with family and friends.
Loli S — Google review
Five euro for a two hour museum. Not a bad price. Many pieces displaying people relevant to the region. Such as Desaix and Vercingetorix.
David G — Google review
A beautifully laid-out museum with two excellent temporary exhibits. No explanations in English, though, if that's a problem. I have to say that the painting of the fair at Impruneta is an absolute must.
Neil T — Google review
A small museum, but it has many valuable art pieces. The painting styles are various from classical to modern art. You will forget everything when staying in front of these paintings.
Duc H — Google review
I have never met such grumpy staff at the reception desk of a museum. It's better to give a welcome smile than a grudging scowl. You'd think staff would be pleased to have some paying visitors... Very annoying also that the cloakroom and bag lockers are closed so we have to carry them around the museum. Poor experience.
Tony B — Google review
A lovely fine art museum to visit. It has an interesting modern layout, an atrium the height of the building like the courtyard between three buildings around a square. The collection runs from medieval to C20th. My favourite was the C20th collection in the basement, a very generous bequest. Rather too much Vercengétorex in the C19th for my taste, but he's the local hero!
Paul B — Google review
Nice museum. It has a lot of romantic-ish art with some roman vestiges of different objects of Clermont-Ferrand that date back to hundreds and hundreds of years. It's quite interesting. There was also a very interesting temporary expo of the dutch filmmaker "Rosto" that I specially liked. I'll be in the look out for future expositions in the museum.

The museum features films, vehicles, and reconstructions that track over a century of the company's developments, with a particular focus on the development, manufacture, and applications of rubber tires. A great experience! It was really interesting to see the history behind Michelin and how they developed their products over time. I especially enjoyed the technical details. The visit took me around two hours, but I feel I could have spent even more time there!
Alireza Y — Google review
Very detailed history of the Michelin tire company with many life size artifacts. I learned a lot more than I thought I would. I highly recommend this visite. ADA accessible. I would not bring children under 8-10 yo. They won't get the point and it's actually a lot of walking.
Sophie T — Google review
Very good and would recommend you visit .Family of 4, 38 Euros .Also all the information was in English.
Mike J — Google review
Super interesting museum! If you’re in this area a must visit! We spend there quite long. A couple of hours. There are different levels with all the history and side stories. It’s really fun to walk through it and also interactive. Totally worth the time!
Maya S — Google review
-1 star for the lack of normal bicycle parking. Absurdly that Lidl has better parking spots in comparison with the biggest tyre manufacturer. Otherwise – a great museum with a square of 2000 m2. There are no barriers – I mean you can touch almost anything! Experience was beyond my expectations. Highly recommend.
Mikita K — Google review
We spent a couple of hours here, two adults and two kids (aged 6 and 9). It was interesting, but more so because of having family connections to Michelin (grandfather working for them in Nigeria and Clermont-Ferrand in the 1960s; both grandparents and my mum working for Michelin in the UK at times). There is quite a bit of corporate agrandising - one would believe Michelin is the best in the world at everything it does by reading the exhibits. But it is interesting, there are some interactive elements for the kids (though ours were a bit young to fully enjoy it). I am glad we visited, but I would not feel thr need for a return visit.
Tom L — Google review
Extremely family friendly with interactive exhibitions and few no-touch artifacts as well as detailed descriptions for those interested. Free parking with four electric vehicle charging stations (11 kW). Very friendly staff - arriving at noon, the front desk attendant recommended having lunch before visiting and gave several options in the area, as the museum does not have a cafeteria.
Frederik T — Google review
We visited with our 5 and 7 years old kids to "escape" a rainy day and because it was recommended to us. Not bad at all, pretty interactive and kids had an activity book to fill in which was useful. They could touch quite a lot of stuff, open drawers and watch short movies, look at a globe etc, their only disappointment was not to be able to sit on the 2 chairs from the Expo Universelle! :( I think the museum would benefit from extra experiences and "test it yourself" activities! :)

Sights & Landmarks
The Panoramic Domes is a modern and spacious rack-style railway that spans 5.2 kilometers to reach the top of the Puy de Dôme, a volcanic dome, offering breathtaking views along the way. The train welcomes dogs with tickets and costs 12.60 for a ride to this great adventure spot where visitors can hike for about three hours or take the bus which includes a 4 km hike or bus and train (about 13).
Great views from the top. Parking is easy and the trains run every 40 mins. Can take the dog although they do charge you and he needs his own ticket. Left my phone on the train coming down. Called it up and the person who answered handed it to the driver who brought it back down with him which was really appreciated.
Martin T — Google review
If you’re anywhere nearby then you’ve got to do it. Especially good if you have elderly, young or less able bodies people in your party as they will also be able to access and enjoy the spectacular location and panoramas. I caught the train up then ran down the tracks. If you do the same be sure to plan your route down BEFORE you go up.
Martin D — Google review
Amazing views , We paid 50 euros for a family of 4 to go up on the train ( knees are ***) would recommend you take extra clothing ( jacket or hoodie) because it was colder for sure .
Mike J — Google review
Experience breathtaking views that inspire wonder, enriched with educational insights and a welcoming atmosphere for families. Immerse yourself in the stunning countryside, witness the graceful paragliders, and delve into the captivating history of French and French-Roman heritage. The journey by train is a delightful adventure!
Dennis W — Google review
We walked up Puy de Dome and whilst the walk was a challenge the weather was even more so. Would definitely do it again, maybe parking at the smaller car park half way up. It is a good challenging walk that our dog loved even if he got a little wet.
BS D — Google review
A great place to visit! Incredible views, history with the Temple of Mercury and lots of see and do. The panoramic walk around the rim of the volcano at the top is a must do and is fully paved. The train ride is great fun, try to get on the seat at the very front next to the driver where you can pretend to drive the train!
Simon H — Google review
Brilliant! And dog friendly. Great to go up and enjoy the view, have a walk, or run. Take your dog, pleasant ride up and frequent trains
James S — Google review
Wonderful, beautiful views. Walk if you can or take the 5km long train that takes you to the top. Height of about 1450 meters the air is pure and cool. There is a café serving local inspired food. Busy in summer month.

Ambience, food, service, quality, everything is very good. This is only the 2nd time I have had Vietnam food and this surprised me with the options and taste. This is not known to many which makes this less crowded.
Arvind Y — Google review
Not big, cosy and nice Vietnamese restaurant. Delicious food, very nice, friendly and helpful staff. The rich menu is available only in French, but it's easy to understand. Prices are not high, great place to spend time with friends or family. Big sort of beverages as well, both Asian and French. Seem to be a popular place, so it's smart to book a table before.
Adam R — Google review
It was decent, but we expected much more looking at opinions. Nevertheless happy they found place for us, because it seemed to booked totally.
Marcin B — Google review
Food was nice but they have too many tables and it feels more like a canteen. The service was awful. Waiters are not professionals at all. They speak very loud in the room and dress like they have just woken up. Nice food but too much of a canteen atmosphere. I would not go back.

Le Bistrot d'à Côté is a charming and cozy restaurant located in a pedestrianized street near Place de Jaude and Eglise St-Pierre-les-Minimes. Chef Valentin Chambonniere offers a creative and masterful menu featuring seasonal dishes prepared with savory ingredients. The restaurant is known for its warm welcome and attentive staff who are knowledgeable about dietary restrictions, ensuring that every guest feels comfortable and well taken care of.
Great restaurant at Clermont. I’m delighted with the service and the level of the menu. They offer 2 different menus with 2 possible starters and main dishes as well as an open menu. They change the dishes every month to match the season Ingredients. We chose œuf parfait as starter with butternut pure and seafood ravioli with mushrooms. As main dish we took the bœuf cooked 7 hours with sweet potato pure and mustard and the mignon de veau grilled with chataignes and an amazing sauce with mushrooms. Both of them soft, perfectly cooked and tasty. As a dessert we took the entremets cafe te noisitte, which compared to the rest was less special and the pain perdu with brioche and an amazing caramel and vanilla ice cream. Definitely I will come back to try a new menu 😇 And booking is a must as they are always full

We were passing though on a driving holiday and I saw great reviews for this restaurant, so booked it. I was glad we did as even on a Monday night it was busy. The staff are attentive without being in your face. We went for a set menu at €43 and were not disappointed. From the tiny amuse bouche, butternut squash split with oil 😋 to the cheese course at the end everything was beautifully presented and flavourful. I had a glass of white, rose and red. All of which were well selected. The white and red were local wines. If I lived here it would be my local 💕

You are not allowed to miss this place if you visit the city. Apart from being Michelin-mentioned, this place offers a magnificent yet balanced choice of food and drinks in a calm modern ambience. Tartare and boeuf are must haves; kir mur and kir peche not to miss as well. Desserts are good as well. Service is another bragging point for this resto. Waiters are impeccably trained and are extremely helpful. I am betting this restorant will have it's michelin star this year or the next.

My wife and I ate here last night and it was amazing. The food was the best meal that we have had and the wines that we had to accompany the meal were superb. The young girl who served us was so nice and personable and patient as our french is not good. A wonderful experience that we will always remember.

This is a fantastic restaurant! We came to town for a wedding and we looking for a place to eat, the reviews here do not do this place justice. The service was impeccable even in English they went out of their way to be nice and friendly! The food is amazing! With choices between a menu or individual items there is enough for anyone. From the first course to desert we were blown away by how good everything was. As far as money and value you could easily go to a lesser restaurant and spend 3x more, the food and service are that good! Try this place you will not be disappointed.

Hamburger restaurant
Restaurant
Bougnat Burger in Clermont-Ferrand offers towering burgers, including vegetarian options, and steak served in a bright and streamlined setting. The restaurant is known for its carefully prepared homemade burgers using regional products. Additionally, they offer a selection of craft beers, including those from the local brewery Brasserie des Sagnes. This makes it a great spot to enjoy a delicious meal paired with some delightful local brews near the Pyramide fountain.
We went on Wednesday dinner, the place was quite busy and popular as I heard, reservation is suggested. All the ingredients seem organic, they make their own burger, fries and cheese dipping, burgers and steak are pretty tasty with big portion, served with fries and salad, price around 10€-15€. even the ice cream was impressive, i had dark chocolate and black currents, satisfied! 😋

Never disappoints, excellent quality, great taste and fair prices. Best french burgers we tried
Nour E — Google review
I almost didn't go in because from the outside it had the air of fast food, but that couldn't be further from the truth. The charming young waitress spent time with me speaking perfect English and making sure I got exactly what I wanted. The hamburger was excellent and I was most impressed with the quality of the bun. The owner came out later to chat with me with his limited English, but seemed very proud of his establishment. Highly recommended!

These burguers are made of fresh products from the region which makes them very special and different taste (in cheese for example) than usual, I loved the St.Nectaire sauce and the fries are delicious !!!!!!

Italian restaurant
Located at 9 Rue du Terrail, 63000 Clermont-Ferrand, France, Il Visconti is a charming Italian restaurant that provides the perfect setting for a romantic dinner. With comfortable armchairs and meticulous decor, this place is ideal for unwinding and enjoying the dolce vita. Visitors praise the delicious Italian cuisine offered here, with some mentioning it as the best they've had in a while. The restaurant also boasts a lovely garden seating area for summer dining and reasonable prices.
This restaurant is one of my favourite places in town. The food is absolutely amazing, always good, always surprising. The portions are exactly right for me and for the people I've been with. In the winter they have a lovely indoor space that's quiet and beautifully decorated, the kitchen is in the center so you can see the cooks working. And when it's getting warmer outside they have a lovely patio, an outdoor place cut out from the noise of the city. The staff is always really lovely. Everyone should try this place once.

Our waiter was very friendly, suggested a delicious bottle of wine and the overall experience was lovely.
Margaret B — Google review
Excellent food, beautiful scenery in the backyard of the restaurant. The selection of dishes was quite small, but everybody from our family of five found something, which suited. I would really recommend the Il Visconti!
Eva H — Google review
We had one of the worst restaurant experiences here. Taste : The lunch menu was overpriced at €23 per person, and the food was bland, with small portions and no real flavor. Definitely not worth the price. Service : The service was rude and unwelcoming. I’m not sure what was wrong with our server, but she showed zero care for our table. When we placed our order, she didn’t explain that there are options either entrée + dessert or main + dessert—we only found out when another server explained it to a different table nearby. After waiting 30 minutes for our main dish, we asked when it would arrive. Her only response: “It’s coming,” with no further explanation. She didn’t bring us bread either. We finally had to ask another server—who wasn’t even in charge of our table—because ours never came back. Everything was painfully slow: 15 minutes just to get the menu, another 15 minutes to place the order, and we watched other tables (who arrived after us) get served first. It took 1.5 hours just to get to dessert. We’ve eaten at many restaurants in Clermont-Ferrand, and this was by far the worst experience we’ve had. It’s unacceptable to receive such poor service and food for €23 per person for lunch. You don’t want to spend that much money only to ruin your day with bad food and a frustrating experience. I honestly don’t know how this place has such high ratings, but I wouldn’t recommend it at all. There are plenty of other places nearby with much better food and service.

We had a great meal here. The quality for the price is very good. The menu is small and each dish is done very well. The cheese crème brûlée starter was especially good. The dining room is quite small so there is a cozy atmosphere and the service was very friendly. We will definitely be back!

Fantastic cosy restaurant with deep flavours. The quality and flavours of the food is truly exceptional. Simple food made perfect is not easy to do. But here it is sold with no fuzz. The size of the dishes are not the biggest, but big enough. The waiter was very warm and friendly. A gem that deserves the best :)

Amazing atmosphere and even better food and fantastic service. My French is not the best but the waiter was patient and recommended me several options throughout the meal all of which were absolutely delicious. The fact that the meal came out to only €50 per person for a three course meal and wine is unbeatable value for what you are getting. If you are in Clermont, this is a must have.

This is a cool restaurant. Nice ambiance, copious menu (drink and food) and good food. The service leaves a lot to be desired and hence 4 instead of 5 star. They have shows downstairs that are reputed to be the best around and I like the idea that they make this effort in what appears, at times, to be a one horse town. This is not an inexpensive place. €€€

(Translated by Google) First impression mixed because the welcome was not very friendly the evening of my arrival and the neighborhood was not very reassuring, not to mention the lack of elevator for rooms all on floors, tiny indoor parking and poorly soundproofed rooms. But comfortable despite everything, with a nice bathroom, kettle and teas (instant coffee would also be welcome). Proximity to the historic center, in addition to the train station, very appreciable. A tasty breakfast, especially with homemade crepes and crepe cake, an absolutely delicious originality! And another more welcoming person on occasion.

The worst airport I have ever been too and I have been to a lot! Shocking employees so rude and unprofessional. The airport in it self is absolutely boring and dreadful to be inside. It doesn’t also help that they are too cheap to turn on AC to cool the airport on a 30+ degree day. If you can avoid this airport all together and detour your travels elsewhere, do it! All they do is sit around and talk without doing they jobs. Which is shown in the photo.

It opens up the region and attracts investors and domestic and foreign tourists. It is imperative to invest in new infrastructure, BEPOS/HQE (High Environmental Quality), restore the airport's image, properly equip it to attract airlines and satisfy customers/passengers, and offer more services (PMR, private security, parking security, restaurants, shops, etc.). The managers must understand that it is in the region's interest, and therefore the general interest, to invest in such a major tool for economic and social development. Our elders knew how to do it, so we must maintain it and do it better. We note that the excellent French airline Twin Jet offers a flight to Paris, but could also offer flights to other cities, such as Rouen, Lille, Toulouse, Biarritz, Tarbes, Perpignan, Nice, Rennes, Brest, Cherbourg, Lanion, Calais, Corsica, etc.! In addition, international flights to sunny destinations during the winter could be introduced to attract investment and promote the region. This requires aviation enthusiasts and good salespeople. (Translated by Google) This airport is essential, given the rail network (perpetual strikes, and the SNCF, which deliberately neglects these local lines in the hope of closing the station), but especially the isolation of the city by road and the centralization of Paris. The ongoing work around the airport is not a panacea: new roads intertwining, a lack of cycling, pedestrian, and bus infrastructure. The airline's choice is questionable, as it takes over the plane and pilots as soon as there are strikes or breakdowns to put them on major routes.

Despite its size, it serves Clermont Ferrand and neighboring cities efficiently with fast check-in processes.
Great airport. Small and easy to park. Not a great choice of destinations, but I like going to Porto, Paris and now London.

Security is terrible. With 2 flights at the same time nothing was made to hurry that step. People arrived on time to the aeroport, the plane was there, boarding was on time but we had to wait because people were stucked in security. Just surreal. There were 5 flights all day and 2 were at the same time. Just no sense.
