L'Aventure Michelin is an exhibition in Clermont-Ferrand that showcases the history and innovations of the Michelin company in the field of transport. The museum features films, vehicles, and reconstructions that track over a century of the company's developments, with a particular focus on the development, manufacture, and applications of rubber tires. Visitors can learn about the origins of Michelin from its beginnings as a rubber factory to its international reputation today.
A great experience! It was really interesting to see the history behind Michelin and how they developed their products over time. I especially enjoyed the technical details. The visit took me around two hours, but I feel I could have spent even more time there!
Alireza Y — Google review
Very detailed history of the Michelin tire company with many life size artifacts. I learned a lot more than I thought I would. I highly recommend this visite. ADA accessible. I would not bring children under 8-10 yo. They won't get the point and it's actually a lot of walking.
Sophie T — Google review
Very good and would recommend you visit .Family of 4, 38 Euros .Also all the information was in English.
Mike J — Google review
Super interesting museum! If you’re in this area a must visit! We spend there quite long. A couple of hours. There are different levels with all the history and side stories. It’s really fun to walk through it and also interactive. Totally worth the time!
Maya S — Google review
-1 star for the lack of normal bicycle parking. Absurdly that Lidl has better parking spots in comparison with the biggest tyre manufacturer. Otherwise – a great museum with a square of 2000 m2. There are no barriers – I mean you can touch almost anything! Experience was beyond my expectations. Highly recommend.
Mikita K — Google review
We spent a couple of hours here, two adults and two kids (aged 6 and 9). It was interesting, but more so because of having family connections to Michelin (grandfather working for them in Nigeria and Clermont-Ferrand in the 1960s; both grandparents and my mum working for Michelin in the UK at times). There is quite a bit of corporate agrandising - one would believe Michelin is the best in the world at everything it does by reading the exhibits. But it is interesting, there are some interactive elements for the kids (though ours were a bit young to fully enjoy it). I am glad we visited, but I would not feel thr need for a return visit.
Tom L — Google review
Extremely family friendly with interactive exhibitions and few no-touch artifacts as well as detailed descriptions for those interested. Free parking with four electric vehicle charging stations (11 kW). Very friendly staff - arriving at noon, the front desk attendant recommended having lunch before visiting and gave several options in the area, as the museum does not have a cafeteria.
Frederik T — Google review
We visited with our 5 and 7 years old kids to "escape" a rainy day and because it was recommended to us. Not bad at all, pretty interactive and kids had an activity book to fill in which was useful. They could touch quite a lot of stuff, open drawers and watch short movies, look at a globe etc, their only disappointment was not to be able to sit on the 2 chairs from the Expo Universelle! :( I think the museum would benefit from extra experiences and "test it yourself" activities! :)

Basilique Notre-Dame du Port de Clermont-Ferrand is a restored 12th-century Roman Catholic basilica adorned with sculptures and inlaid stone mosaics. This UNESCO World Heritage site offers a captivating journey into the world of Romanesque art. The basilica, built of beige arkose, underwent full restoration until December 2008.
Beautiful old medieval church. Free entry. Beautiful stained windows and decorative ceilings. Worth a visit
Louise N — Google review
Visiting from Rue Robertus gives you a better view of the basilica and it's unique geometric shaped architecture. It was empty during the weekend giving a peaceful atmosphere to the visit. You have an access to the crypt too! Overall, it's a lovely romanesque styled basilica worth visiting for some peace :)
Akshay R — Google review
I was rubbed a little but the building was beautiful so I was stroking with a view
Crimson C — Google review
Truly amazing church of roman style. No further alterations in later centuries, but original as it was in 1140 when it was built. Ther is also a crypt below the apsis. The ceiling is very beautiful , in the area of the choir it is obvious that the architect had difficulties to combine the different elements into a cross shape. A must see when in clermont ferrand.
Hartmut P — Google review
Make sure to check out the geometric designs at the east end on the outside!
Ben C — Google review
A beautiful romanesque basilica with typical chevets and mosaics, among the five greatest churches in Auvergne (Issoire, Orcival, Saint-Nectaire, and Saint-Saturnin). Founded in the 6th century, burned down and rebuilt around the 12th, the building has been restored (questionably) in the 19th century, finally a major restoration programme took place in the church interior at the beginning of the 21st century (to clean the stonework and remove the 19th century cement adds) after the basilica was added to the UNESCO World Heritage (1998).

Lovely small basilica with stained glass, shrines, and sculptures.

Jaude Square (French: Place de Jaude) is a major city square and meeting place in the centre of Clermont-Ferrand, France.[1] It is bordered by Rue Blatin on the North and Avenue Julien on the south. The square is home to many attractions, such as the Opera Theatre, the Jaude Shopping Mall and Saint-Pierre-des-Minimes Church. Jaude Square was founded in the Roman times but was abandoned in the Middle Ages. Overlooking the square is a massive statue of the ancient Gallic leader Vercingetorix. Erected in 1903, it was created by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, who also made the Statue of Liberty.[3] The modern square was inaugurated on 17 June 2006, with over 30,000 people coming to attend the opening ceremony.[

The Musee d'Art Roger Quilliot in Clermont-Ferrand offers a diverse collection of almost 2,000 artworks spanning from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. Housed in a former convent dating back to the 12th century, this 6,000 m2 gallery seamlessly blends modern architecture with historic elements.
The Musée d'Art Roger-Quilliot in Clermont-Ferrand is a must-visit for art enthusiasts. Situated in a beautifully restored 18th-century convent, the museum itself is an architectural gem, seamlessly blending historical and modern elements. Its collection spans several centuries, showcasing works from the Middle Ages to contemporary art, with a particular focus on regional artists and the Auvergne's rich artistic heritage. The museum is well-organized, making it easy to navigate through its various sections, and the staff is welcoming. The rotating exhibitions add an element of surprise, ensuring that even repeat visits offer something new. Additionally, the museum's location in the heart of Clermont-Ferrand makes it easily accessible, and it is undoubtedly one of the cultural highlights of the city. For families, don’t forget to stop by the area on the ground floor where kids can draw their flag on paper, with the word "play" written in their own language. It’s a fun, interactive way for children to engage with the museum and express their creativity. Whether you're a local or a visitor, the Musée d'Art Roger-Quilliot offers a deep dive into the artistic soul of the region, making it one of the best museums in Clermont-Ferrand .
Lina B — Google review
One of the remarkable art institutions in Clermont -Ferrand. It looks like a modern building but contents really historic artefacts back to medieval times etc. I was really impressed by the museum, it’s worth visiting it with family and friends.
Loli S — Google review
Five euro for a two hour museum. Not a bad price. Many pieces displaying people relevant to the region. Such as Desaix and Vercingetorix.
David G — Google review
A beautifully laid-out museum with two excellent temporary exhibits. No explanations in English, though, if that's a problem. I have to say that the painting of the fair at Impruneta is an absolute must.
Neil T — Google review
A small museum, but it has many valuable art pieces. The painting styles are various from classical to modern art. You will forget everything when staying in front of these paintings.
Duc H — Google review
I have never met such grumpy staff at the reception desk of a museum. It's better to give a welcome smile than a grudging scowl. You'd think staff would be pleased to have some paying visitors... Very annoying also that the cloakroom and bag lockers are closed so we have to carry them around the museum. Poor experience.
Tony B — Google review
A lovely fine art museum to visit. It has an interesting modern layout, an atrium the height of the building like the courtyard between three buildings around a square. The collection runs from medieval to C20th. My favourite was the C20th collection in the basement, a very generous bequest. Rather too much Vercengétorex in the C19th for my taste, but he's the local hero!
Paul B — Google review
Nice museum. It has a lot of romantic-ish art with some roman vestiges of different objects of Clermont-Ferrand that date back to hundreds and hundreds of years. It's quite interesting. There was also a very interesting temporary expo of the dutch filmmaker "Rosto" that I specially liked. I'll be in the look out for future expositions in the museum.

The Muséum d'histoire naturelle Henri-Lecoq, located in Clermont-Ferrand, is a 19th-century natural history museum that offers a glimpse into the region's zoology, botany, and geology. The museum is housed in the former mansion of French botanist Henri-Lecoq and boasts a collection of over 650,000 objects and specimens from around the world.
Excellent for all ages, kids as well as experts . Early Machines for calculations, animals, fauna , history , you have it all. A great place . Well located in town centre, not far from the park with the same name. Note, no cafe is on site!

Musée Le Coq in Clermont-Ferrand is a charming natural history museum with a diverse collection that includes fossils, minerals, and local flora and fauna exhibits. One unique feature is its section dedicated to arithmetic, where visitors can watch a video on how to calculate using an arithmetic machine, as well as learn about the work of Lavoisier. This blend of natural history and mathematical learning makes the museum both educational and engaging. Although most information is in French, the exhibits are accessible to all. It's a great spot for a short, enriching visit
Lina B — Google review
A small museum of natural history and nature of the region. About an hour for visit, lots of reading, only in French. Free for students. Separate sections devoted to history and minerals. Can be interesting, depending on your interest in nature and knowledge of French.

Very interesting museum about the history of science. A part of the museum is dedicated to Blaise Pascal, who was born in Clermont-Ferrand. It stores some of his calculator machines, which were the early predecessors of the modern computer. On the second floor, there is a small geological collection, and some taxidermy. Additionally, there is a collection on the different senses, and there is a temporary exhibition. It is not a super big museum, but definitely nice and interesting to pay a visit. Free entry for students. The only downside was that almost all information is only provided in French, which sometimes makes it hard to read everything when you're not a native speaker.
Thirza S — Google review
Great collection with both good detail for adults and teens and simple explanations for children (though there's no really in depth stuff on display, ask staff for more). Covers geology, biology, zoology, archaeology as permanent displays. When we visited we arrived when the temporary wildlife habitats exhibition was on. Filled a whole afternoon for just over a tenner for six people!

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Clermont-Ferrand, Musée Bargoin is a captivating destination that artfully combines the realms of archaeology and textile arts. Established in 1903, this museum showcases an impressive array of archaeological finds from the local region, spanning from prehistoric times to the Gallo-Roman era. Visitors can marvel at artifacts unearthed during excavations that reveal insights into ancient societies.
This is a great museum to visit if you are interested in ancient history and would like to see some amazing artefacts that have been found in the locallity. The quantity and quality of the displays is really impressive and the staff are really friendly and helpful making for a nice experience. The entrance fee is very reasonable and I would say allow up to two hours for a proper look around or an hour or so for a quick look. I would say that it is a Medium sized museum judging by the museums I have visited in the past. There is also some fabrics etc on display on the upper floor if this is of interest. In my opinion well worth a visit.

David G — Google review
As an international student of Ancient History, I was particularly excited to visit this museum and access its collections. It is, by all reports, an excellent experience. However, on arriving, there was simply a sign on its closed doors stating that it is CLOSED until 18th April 2023. Whilst museum closures for renovation works are completely understandable, there was no mention of this online via any of the official websites (including the regional tourism website). Very disappointed with the lack of communication, and this combined with the lack of public transport to the Puy de Dome temple site in the region meant that there was no accessible ancient history sites within the region. As a result, I cut my stay short (4 hours total) to return to Lyon for a few days, where ancient cultural sites are abundant and excellent.
Allie S — Google review

History, from early man (in europe) to medieval times with regional/local archeological samples and explanations of provenance that is well ordered and relevant for Auvergne and Clermont-ferrand. A real gem, set in a beautiful building. Not a "large' collection like many big museums, but very informative. We spent a few hours here pouring over the details of each exhibit and were enthralled. It was just what we were looking for and helped us appreciate Clermont-ferrand even more.

Nestled in the heart of Clermont-Ferrand, the Musée de la Résistance offers a profound journey into history, focusing on the courageous individuals who fought for freedom during tumultuous times. Established in 1873, this museum is not only well-documented but also features engaging panels that vividly recount the sacrifices made by both men and women. Visitors can explore permanent exhibitions detailing various phases of World War II, with a special emphasis on the Auvergne resistance.
(Translated by Google) A small museum that's definitely worth a visit. It offers both a temporary section and the permanent exhibition. The museum is modern and well-illustrated. One section is devoted to local history, which is undoubtedly the most interesting. The temporary exhibition was dedicated to Michelin during the war. Absolutely essential! Christophe G — Google review
(Translated by Google) I visited this museum at the end of July, whose existence is little known. A small museum that seems unpretentious (compared to large national museums, they are incomparable) and yet extremely interesting!! The entire war, from its preludes, the rise of dictatorships, deportation, collaboration, resistance, etc., to the purge and trials. All phases are covered, international, national, and local; major historical figures rub shoulders with "ordinary" rural families. Everything is quickly evoked through images, documents, articles, and very specific and significant objects: brief but symbolic! Aspects rarely or not at all covered in large museums: youth work camps, race records (I'd never seen any), and local events around Clermont and Auvergne, which are very little known. The Michelin exhibition is very interesting and shows the life of the industry during this difficult period, of this international company, the lives of the workers during this period, and of the members of the Michelin family. Following the presentation in the Chamalières museum, it deserves to be included in the Michelin Adventure Museum, where this period is rarely, if ever, mentioned. A museum to recommend to everyone, especially to schoolchildren (middle and high schools), who can learn about the reality of this period, the living conditions, the consequences and parallels with other periods, and even aspects of our current situation, without going too far. A special mention to the young woman at the reception desk for her attentiveness, her interest, and her desire to share! Good luck and persevere! The director also took the time to come out of her office to get our opinions and inform us about future exhibitions. A dedicated director. The only drawback: the museum is very poorly signposted and poorly signposted. Arriving from the center of Chamalières on foot, we had to turn around many streets. Too bad. It really deserves to be showcased and a small brochure or book (even a paid one) describing this museum would have been appreciated as a souvenir of everything we saw and read. A must-visit!

(Translated by Google) Very good guided tour on the theme "Michelin in the Second World War". Lots of very interesting information to understand the history with the applications to French industry and therefore particularly the rubber and tire industry. The museum is small and we were only a small group of about ten people so it was ideal for this intervention which developed the different themes addressed on the panels and display cases. An unmissable exhibition to complement the Michelin Adventure visit on this period of history carried out on the same day. The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, also known as Clermont-Ferrand Cathedral, is a Gothic masterpiece located in the city center of Clermont-Ferrand in Auvergne. This 13th-century Roman Catholic place of worship is constructed entirely from black lava stone, giving it a unique and striking appearance. The cathedral features two impressive spires that soar 108 meters into the sky, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
I have a beautiful experience to visit over here. Such a lovely and amazing place. Very impressive and Attractive. This church is so cool i highly recommend to visit this. You can go inside as well to look. I personally prefer summer time to visit cause winter time is so could over there. Cathedral Of our lady of the assumption is really good and it's my pleasure to visit here. Thanks

Oh boy! This cathedral is the identity of Clermont-Ferrand and rightly so. Built with lava stone, it gives a dark colour to the cathedral making it unique to the other cathedrals in France which is usually built with limestone. It's a gothic masterpiece and one of the tallest in France. Not to mention, the stained glass windows inside the cathedral was so colourful. I'm impressed!

Stunning church with daily Mass and adoration. Unlike most other cathedrals Mass is held on the main altar which is beautiful. Unfortunately like most cathedrals they’ve picked chairs instead of pews, making it difficult to kneel. The church is stunning and built from lava stone, there is beautiful artwork and architecture to admire inside. The high ceilings reach all the way up to heaven, bringing us up there for Mass.

This magnificent basilica leaves an indelible impression on all who are fortunate enough to experience its splendor. Standing tall against the skyline of Clermont-Ferrand, the Basilique Notre-Dame de l'Assomption is a testament to the city's rich history and enduring spiritual significance. It is one of the most iconic landmarks in the region. Constructed from the distinctive black volcanic stone native to the Auvergne region, the basilica's Gothic facade commands attention with its intricate detailing and imposing presence. Stepping through its grand entrance, visitors are enveloped in a sense of solemnity and tranquility, as light filters through stained glass windows. If you find yourself in Clermont-Ferrand, a visit to the Basilique Notre-Dame de l'Assomption is an absolute must.

The Statue of Vercingetorix, an equestrian statue created by renowned sculptor Auguste Bartholdi, commemorates the Gaul leader's triumph over Caesar at Gergovie in 52 BC. The statue was completed in 1903 and showcases the exceptional talent of its creator, who also designed the Statue of Liberty in New York. Located in the large Place de Jaude, it is a must-see attraction during a visit to Auvergne.

(Translated by Google) Everyone has their heroes, and in a twentieth-century reinterpretation, Vercingerorix, the most famous of Caesar's rivals in the Bellum Gallicum, was seen as a forerunner of French freedom. Hence the early twentieth-century statue by Auguste Bartholdi, erected in Clermont Ferrand, near the site of what could be Gergovia, where the Romans retreated (more or less strategically) before the king of the Arverni, who was later defeated at Alesia (perhaps the present-day Alise-Sainte-Reine, in Burgundy). A curiosity, full of anachronisms, with the occasional addition of the yellow jersey on the occasion of the men's or women's Tour (2025). The "sillages" exhibition presents both very small and very large canvases. All are well displayed in the different rooms of the Frac. It is often more enlightening and relevant than the usual pompous artistic litany that is above! (Translated by Google) I've been to Prison Island twice and I never tire of it! The goal of this adventure is to clear as many cells as possible within a given time limit (there are several options). I already really liked the concept before even trying it, and I want to point out that even if you know the rooms, you can always try to push yourself and achieve the best time possible! Personally, I recommend spending more than an hour. It's a bit complicated to complete all the rooms, or to understand them all, in just an hour (but for a first test, it's really not bad). There's something for everyone, and groups are sure to be satisfied, because there are so many challenges to choose from. I highly recommend it for a great time with family, friends, and even more timid groups! (There's no shame in that, everyone can succeed where others can't; it's very enjoyable if some people don't know each other.)

(Translated by Google) Very good festival, it offers new artists every year, both very famous but also rather underrated artists. Thanks to this festival, I was able to discover the artistic universe of many artists that I did not know. In addition you can eat and drink on site. I recommend this festival. In addition, it is not very expensive and reduced rates are available for under-26s.

(Translated by Google) Very good 2025 program! A pleasant place and quality catering. The only downside: an oversized VIP area considering the small number of people present while the rest of the spaces are very dense.

(Translated by Google) Good points: A festival that has had extremely good programming in the past. A food court and the partnership with Arte are very good assets (and the food was good). This 2025 edition was saved by Kavinsky on Saturday and Yoa (a great revelation) on Sunday. Notable area for improvement: Impossible to find a festival map. On the app (and even though I know a thing or two about event apps), it only became accessible the day after the last day on the homepage, after the partners and the day's programming had been removed! It was nowhere to be found in the menus and widgets. Please make it accessible from the homepage as a shortcut at the bottom! Some artists were supposed to have merch for sale, but we didn't even know where to find it! 2025 edition review: Tickets have skyrocketed in terms of prices (before, you could come for the weekend for €50, this year you have to pay a minimum of €80/person) + a catastrophic program reflecting a blatant lack of networking by the organizers to bring in artists. 80% of Parisian bobos singing about their discomfort because the metro stinks and we just bought them a mirror, 20% of Spanish artists who wanted to cool off in the Puy de Dôme for a weekend (missed). In short, a program that didn't even justify half of what we paid. Very few and too few styles represented, between rap, pop, pop, rap, pap and rop (we get lost). Absolutely unknown (or too divisive) artists on the main stage who don't know how to interact with the audience other than by bellowing like a rutting deer (hello Dali). Over the two days, the crowd was listless, and it wasn't just due to the heat. Fire! Chatterton tried to rekindle an already stifling blaze, but their style was far too smooth over the rest of the lineup for us to enjoy listening to them. Zaho de Sagazan clearly didn't have what it takes to headline, let alone close the festival. As for the factory stage, there was a blatant lack of talent... In short, this year's artistic poverty was highlighted the following weekend, when a free festival (La Pamparina in Thiers) demonstrated a much greater capacity to mobilize (and that's a good word) extremely more varied talent: folk, soul, jazz, punk, and pop rock in a single evening. I'll never again book a Europavox ticket without knowing the full lineup, like I did this year, foolishly hoping in December that we'd get some nice surprises early in the year with the announcement of the final names. Next year, we'll prioritize real festivals that work every year to bring culture to life (Ambert, to name a few). (Adjustment: We're moving to one star to balance out the fake 5-star reviews without comments.)

Royat Casino is a unique and urban venue that offers an inspiring space for hosting events and special occasions. With 900 square meters of stylish, collaborative, and shared spaces, including two versatile rooms, it provides an ideal setting for collaboration, pitching ideas, and brainstorming. Additionally, the casino hosts an annual event for book writers in partnership with Librairie des Volcans. The vibrant ambiance makes it a great place to enjoy activities with friends while also offering excellent service and food options.
This casino manages to hold every season a very good event of book writers, who are dedicating their works, in connexion with Librairie des Volcans, the most recommended book and disc store in Clermont-Ferrand. Highly recommended for this annual event. No comment on the Casino itself.
Didier A — Google review
First and foremost, this offers haphazard parking. Non-French first timers are bound to be confused here. Finally, the service here is pretty average.
Arvind Y — Google review
At the first view it looks nice, but the image changes as soon as you reach the building, the parking lot is dirty, everything is in a pretty aged condition, a bucket of new paint and sandpaper could help a lot. From the inside it looks way better, but there other things are ruining a good first impression. We have been there for a conference dinner with roughly 230 people, everyone had given information about allergies, vegetarian, vegan, etc. during the registration more than three months before the event, and everyone was getting a card for his place that it will be obvious for every service member, that was the good part. But from there it started with the fact that none of the waiters knew what he is giving as an appetizer, they had simply no clue at all, on top of this most of the food already reached a critical temperature where everything was only soggy and no tasty at all. And that was already 5 min after we where allowed to enter the ball room. After we took our seats the next thing came up, the staff had no proper service plan, everyone was running around asking at the same table multiple times for drinks while other tables were completely forgotten about. So it took nearly half an hour until even the first bottle of water was put in place at our table. And it wasn't going to be better from that on. 230 people is already a larger group, but with roughly 8 persons at service it is no big deal to set in the starters within under 10 minutes. But here as well, they where completely unorganized. And so we got our first plate when half of the room had already finished. The real problems where starting with the main dish, every special food order was ignored, the vegetarians and the vegans got first of all the meat dish as well, then it was exchanged, that took more than 30-40min, everyone else was finished at that point, and the surprise was pretty big, because the meat was simply exchanged by a spoon full of green beans everything else was the same, and two baby carrots and an salat leaf are not that much as a side dish. But also for the meat eaters, it was not a pleasant experience, the meat was something in between raw and extra well done, depending witch plate you got, and it was always chewy. The next two dishes were of the same poor quality, and one of it was a cold cheese plate... So all in all it was neither a pleasant or a tasty experience. The staff was friendly no doubt about that, but had definitely now clue what they had to do, or how to serve such a large group. To be clear about this, if done this job for 8 years, and that was an outstanding failure on all fronts, from the kitchen chef down to the waiters. Never again, especially not if you have seen the bill for that. There are way better restaurants around the city.
