The Somnath Temple is located on the western coast of Gujarat, India, on the shore of the Arabian Sea, and is one of the most sacred sites for Hindus, considered the first of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. A site rich in history and devotion, it has been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times, symbolizing faith and resilience, and draws millions of devotees and tourists annually to its picturesque setting.
This was my second trip in two years....will be visiting many more time for its great positive aura and serenity.

Somnath temple was about 400 meters from parking. It was very very peaceful in the temple. it was crowded but not that much. The energy we felt there was just another level. You need to deposit your mobiles and bags outside the temple but it was very well maintained. There are separate queues for men and women for darshan. We went during evening aarti time and the experience was surreal.

Located right beside the Arabian Sea, the temple offers a breathtaking view and a serene atmosphere that instantly brings peace to the mind. During festival seasons, the temple attracts a massive crowd, so it’s best to plan your visit on weekdays or during the off-season for a more comfortable experience. Security checks are very strict here, and visitors are required to deposit their mobile phones and wallets in the lockers available outside. There are plenty of shoe houses to keep your footwear safely. The temple complex is beautifully maintained, and the recently developed sea corridor is a wonderful addition you can take a peaceful walk along it or even hire a cycle to enjoy the scenic coastal view. Overall, it’s a divine and well-organized place that every devotee must visit at least once.
Somnath Temple is a divine and peaceful place filled with spiritual energy. The architecture is stunning, and the sea beside the temple makes the atmosphere even more serene. The evening aarti is a truly mesmerizing experience and not to be missed.
However, it can get quite crowded, especially during weekends and festivals so it’s best to visit early in the morning. Phones, bags, and other belongings are not allowed inside and must be kept in the locker area. Only a small purse or wallet is permitted. The management and cleanliness are excellent, making it a must-visit for every devotee and traveler.

The Shree Somnath Jyotirlinga Temple, located in Prabhas Patan near Veraval in Gujarat, is one of the most sacred and ancient temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is revered as the first among the twelve Jyotirlingas, symbolizing the eternal presence of Lord Shiva as the “Protector of the Moon.” The name Somnath means “Lord of Soma (the Moon),” and the temple is believed to be the very spot where the Moon God, Chandra, worshipped Lord Shiva to regain his radiance.
According to the Shiva Purana and Skanda Purana, Chandra was married to the 27 daughters of Daksha Prajapati, but he favored only Rohini, neglecting the others. Angered by this, Daksha cursed Chandra to lose his light. Seeking redemption, Chandra performed severe penance and worshipped Lord Shiva at Prabhas Patan. Pleased with his devotion, Lord Shiva restored his brilliance and assumed the name Somnath, promising to reside eternally at that place. Thus, the temple became one of the most important Jyotirlinga shrines and a center of worship for centuries.
Historically, the Somnath Temple has been a symbol of resilience and faith. It is believed to have been originally built in gold by the Moon God, in silver by Ravana, in wood by Lord Krishna, and finally in stone by King Bhimdev of the Solanki dynasty around the 11th century. The temple faced multiple invasions due to its immense wealth and grandeur.
It was first destroyed by Mahmud of Ghazni in 1026 CE, who looted its treasures and desecrated the shrine. Despite repeated destruction by invaders such as Alauddin Khilji’s generals, Bahadur Shah of Gujarat, and later Aurangzeb, the temple was rebuilt each time by devoted kings and followers. Its numerous reconstructions came to symbolize the indomitable spirit of Hindu faith.
The present structure of the Somnath Temple was rebuilt in 1951 under the vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Home Minister, and inaugurated by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, India’s first President. The current temple follows the Chalukya style of architecture, standing majestically on the western coast of India, facing the Arabian Sea. An inscription on its wall reads: “This is the first point of land in the east where the temple of Somnath stands, facing the never-setting Sun.”
Today, Shree Somnath Temple stands not only as a sacred shrine of Lord Shiva but also as a timeless monument of devotion, courage, and rebirth — a beacon of India’s enduring spiritual heritage.

They don't push you, they don't throw you out. Waiting time is 10-20 mints, no special darshan or ticket required, went at 8am on Saturday .. Har Har Mahadev !!

What a place is Triveniyan where three rivers meet. You must go there. Go there, sit and remember. Always go in the evening because the fun you get by walking there in the evening is not like anywhere else. If possible, you must plant grass there. All your wishes will be fulfilled by taking a dip. Try to get a lot of information about Triveni Sangam.

Today I had the fortune to visit the *holy Triveni Sangam near Somnath, where the three sacred rivers Hiran, Kapila and Saraswati* unite before merging into the Arabian Sea. Standing on the ghats and watching the waters come together, I felt a deep calmness, as though nature itself was narrating a divine story.
The Hiran River, originating from the Gir hills, flows with serenity and purity. On its banks lies the holy Dehotsarg Tirth, where Lord Shri Krishna left his mortal body. Because of this, the Hiran is not only a river but a silent witness to one of the greatest events of Indian mythology – the end of Dwapar Yuga and the dawn of Kali Yuga.
The Kapila River is smaller but spiritually powerful. It is associated with Rishi Kapila, the great philosopher who gave the world Sankhya Darshan, one of the six schools of Indian philosophy. Kapila represents self-realization, meditation and austerity, reminding us that true liberation lies within inner knowledge.
The third river, Saraswati, is invisible here, believed to flow underground. Once a mighty river that nourished Vedic civilization, Saraswati is revered as the goddess of wisdom, learning and speech. At Somnath, her unseen presence joins the other two rivers, symbolizing the hidden power of divine knowledge that always flows beneath life’s surface.
According to legend, after Shri Krishna’s dehotsarg on the banks of Hiran, his mortal remains were cremated at Triveni Sangam. Thus, this place is not only a river confluence but also a gateway to liberation, where body, mind and soul merge into eternity.
Visiting Triveni Sangam felt like witnessing the union of devotion (Hiran), austerity (Kapila), and wisdom (Saraswati), all dissolving into the vast ocean of the divine. It is a place where mythology, spirituality and nature meet in perfect harmony.

Kamnath Mahadev Temple is a massive temple complex constructed 200 years ago by King Mayurdhwaj. A huge temple of the main deity, Kamnath, occupies the center surrounded by many small structures. There are two huge water bodies inside the periphery, a holy pond known as Dudhiyu Talav and a bathing pool called as 'Mahadev no Kund'. It is widely believed that King Mayurdhwaj recovered from leprosy after bathing in Dudhiyu Talav and hence many devotees come to take a dip in this pond.

It's a good resort to stay at Sasangir with good rooms with attached bathroom. Resort is full of mango trees and greenery. Service is good. For stay the are changing per person per day which includes room charges and food charges for breakfast, lunch and dinner. To reach at resort, you require personal vehicle as it is deep inside from main road. On every Sunday night they arrange african dance at resort.
This is the temple of Laxminarayan ji. This is a very lovely temple. It is a very well-architected temple. Do visit here and have darshan of Laxmi Narayan ji. Spend some time here because the environment inside is also very nice. It is very loving and peaceful, so definitely go and worship in this temple.

Veneshwar Mahadev Temple in Somnath is one of the most interesting places to visit in Somnath that is located opposite the Somnath Trust Dharamshala Gate. This east-facing temple with an unusual spire is dedicated to Lord Shiva and has a history behind its name. In 1025 AD, Mahmud Gazni decided to invade Somnath but failed in his attempt. So, he devised a cunning plan of kidnapping Veni, the princess of the kingdom who visited the Shiva temple outside the fort every day.
When Ghazni tried to kidnap her, Veni sought Lord Shiva's help to save her. On hearing her earnest plea, the shiva linga opened into two, engulfed her in, and closed itself back. At that time a ‘Veni’(a strand of her hair) was left out and Lord Shiva and henceforth worshipped as Veneshwar.
It is one kilometer away from the Somnath temple. It is a very peaceful place. You should definitely visit this place. You can definitely have darshan of Veneshwar Temple here. It is a very loving and peaceful place. You will feel very good after visiting this place and it is very close. You will not have to work hard to reach the Somnath temple.
This is a small Mahadev Temple off the tourist radar but almost of the same age when the first Adi Somnath Temple was destroyed during the first invasion.
The unique feature of this Shivling is, it has a crack at the bottom but still intact. Locals tell a story of the king's daughter named "Veni" who was ardent Mahadev devotee and during the invasion of Mahmud of Ghazni in 1025CE, saved herself by hiding inside the Shivling, hence it's cracked.
Personally, I think the invaders tried to break and destroy this Shivling, but somehow was unsuccessful and left it as it is.
Whatever the truth is, the temple today is less frequented with locals managing it and donation by visitors is the only way the temple is maintained.
It a nice temple with a beautiful mythological story of Lord Shiva and the princess. You can notice the rock like hair of that princess behind the lingam. Here, photography is allowed.
Very near to somnath, with its own history.. local people has,more faith on this mahadev temple..very green area, ancient temple & vav (well with steps - resource of water). You will feel holiness in the atmosphere of the temple.. only problem is no near by toilet , u need to go near by somnath trust guest house.. if you are visiting somnath do visit this place ..

Experienced 7 pm Aarti here and the experience was divine. Not many people know about this temple hence crowd is negligible.

Visited yesterday.A wonderful temple with amazing surroundings of nature. There are numerous temples in one campus and a good area to sit and relax. The entrance has several stairs (non accessible to wheel chair)You could feel relaxed here sitting near the lake.
A wonderful temple visit 🙏 — the Gita Mandir is huge, beautifully designed, and offers plenty of spots to relax. You’ll find a peaceful garden area around the temple where you can sit and unwind amidst greenery. The design of the temple itself is just stunning — elegant architecture, clean surroundings and a calm atmosphere.
The priests here are very welcoming. They shared a little about the tradition of offering jal and why it’s done, which added a meaningful touch to the experience. One unique highlight: there were cute little puppies playing on the side, which made the visit even more heart-warming 🐶.
Overall: highly recommended if you’re in Ahmedabad and want a serene and spiritually uplifting place.

These caves are very old and ancient, this is also located in Prabhas Patan city of Gir Somnath district, these are very ancient caves which are located near the highway, to come here you can go directly to the parking from Somnath circle You will find this on the way towards the parking. This is Prabhas Patan Buddhist Cave which is inside the Somnath Trust and is managed by the Somnath Trust. However, these caves are currently closed for people and entry is prohibited.There is no permission, innovation work is still going on in it, after that it will be opened for tourists

When I was looking for a 'budget friendly' hotel. I came across several hotels with mixed reviews. Most of them were complaining about cleanliness so before booking a room at Somnath sagar I personally checked a few. Some near the temple area was owned and managed by "other community" people and in their area and I didn't wanted to pay them. Another hotel was Somnath Sagar which was around a Km away from temple, autos available at 20rs per person or 100rs per auto. It was a good budget friendly room, clean and tidy as you like. When I reached hotel, moping was going on in the hotel and rooms were clean, so are the bedsheets and pillows.
The only negative was that I needed a room for 6-7hrs only but I had to book for 1 night due to their policy. The rent was 1200 but I booked it through Cleartrip for 977. The front desk staff was helpful and supportive. Overall a nice pocket friendly and clean hotel. No worry about cleanliness, if still in doubt I would recommend you to go there and check the room for your satisfaction and then book online or offline.

I think it's one of the most comfortable places I have stayed. The staff is really helpful and responsive, rooms are neat and clean and they have a restaurant attached to the hotel. So you get food just a step away. It's close to Somnath Bus Station as well. Overall a great place to stay, highly recommended.
Front desk ppl and workers don't care when your check in time is they were sleeping when we arrived and it took us atleast 20 mins to wake them up...very slow working speed. Weird smells in the room, you need to ask and request them to turn on AC as it is off from outside, doors have no proper locks causing us inconvenient. They are very mean to ppl and no consideration for elder citizens.. Worst washrooms ever seen very dirty the buckets have some black stuff in it and showers don't work.. Beware when charging you devices as if you put it in the wrong switch you can pull out the entire thing by yourself. The pictures shown here aren't what the hotel has to offer not even close.... Don't stay here and make the mistake that we did... many washrooms have indian toilets and some insects don't come here.Truly deserves a 0 star!
I stayed one day at Hotel Somnath Sagar, and it was a very good experience. The rooms were clean, the environment was peaceful, and the overall service was excellent. The staff was very helpful and polite.

They went a step ahead and took care of our infant by providing milk for infant and less oily food for senior citizen.
All the staff in the office are keen on serving rather than giving excuses. We had a great stay in lords inn and loo forward to staying again over there.

I have been regular to this hotel. Location is unbeatable . Clear view of ocean from rooms. Their food is very good. Breakfast is also with limited spread but South Indian dishes are served daily. Two suggestions if hotel can agree. Nowadays most of hotels keep high tea which is very convenient for guests to have cup of tea or coffee with some munching. Another supply of bislery bottles in the rooms should be unlimited or minimum two one litre bottles.this hotel serves two small bottles. One of the best hotel for Dwarka . Walking distance from temple.
Visited lords inn for evening snacks, we had club sandwich, french fries and mojito and everything was average only. The only good thing about the hotel is it's location which is right in front of the sea. But in terms of cleanliness it was average and not that good.

An ideal hotel close to the Somnath Jothirling Temple. The hotel is very clean, the staff are all wonderful. The Blue Coriander staff are truly helpful, polite, and serve customers with care and dedication. We are very pleased with their 100 percent vegetarian food choices, which are very delicious and creative. I would really like to come back for their food. Very pleased with all the staff here as well.

Rooms are large but needs better cleaning. The sofas and headboard seems to have never been vacuum for ages and has dust and stains. You literally can't use them.
Bathroom seems old and is just ok.
Room Lobby was stinking the whole time and furniture again was dusty and unclean.
Staff was polite, however service needed multiple reminders. Again the basic supplies were not provided for all the guest as per booking and just enough for 2 people. Needed reminders.
Location is 1.5 km from temple and close to 7 km from veraval station. Limited small restaurant near hotel are available.
Breakfast, except vermicelli upma and tea, everything else seems stale and also only live counter for dosa that too after guests pushed them. Definitely a Big NO.

Good hotel with a convenient location. The property is due for a major renovation, but overall we had a pleasant stay. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. Special mention to Mr. Lal Babu in the restaurant for his warm hospitality and for taking special care of our food needs. I’m seriously shocked how this hotel is rated so high! The room was unbelievably small — you can barely move around with your luggage. The corridor felt like a narrow passage, not what you expect in a so-called “premium” hotel.
The bathroom was terrible — dirty tiles, old fittings, and a bad smell that just wouldn’t go away. Even the floor wasn’t clean when we entered the room! For the price they charge, this place is a total scam.
I felt completely cheated by the photos online — they show something totally different. The actual hotel is nowhere close. Please don’t waste your money here! There are way better options around Somnath with cleaner rooms and better service.

The room was comfortable, the hospitality was excellent, and the staff was very polite. We were fasting during our stay, and the team went out of their way to provide us with suitable snacks, which we truly appreciated.

Location is good. Rooms are not very clean. linen is dirty which we have asked to replace which they replaced but gave very lame excuse that due to salty water it is like this then how the new linen is clean.
Basic of hospitality industry is to ensure basic amenities like cleanliness, toiletries must be there before room is provided which seems not the case.
I stayed at Safari Resort and Hotel and had a really great experience. The staff was very polite and helpful. Especially Zaid Bhai — his behavior was excellent and he was very friendly. I truly appreciate the warm hospitality and would love to visit again!
I had a terrible experience at this hotel. During my stay, my watch went missing from my room, and the staff showed little concern or accountability. I reported the missing immediately, but the management’s response was slow and unhelpful. There was no follow-up, no real investigation, and no sense of responsibility for guest safety or security.
A hotel should make guests feel comfortable and protected, but this place did the opposite. Between the lack of security and the indifferent attitude of the staff, I cannot recommend staying here. There are plenty of other hotels that actually value their guests and take things seriously.

Hotel Safari is one of the worst hotel, I have ever seen..
I am a frequent traveler and travelled North to South and East to West but this is one of the worst hotel ever seen/ experienced till now.
They put good photographs in the social media but when you arrive at hotel , you will surely start feeling the negative atmosphere and attitudes from their each one.
They usually asked for entire amount while check in so that later customer gets stuck and comes under complete control of them.
As far as rooms and other facilities are concerned, you will not get Lift,TVs,good beds,bath room and toilet.
There is no hygiene in the room and around sides too..
I personally suggest you ,not to go to this hotel ever ,even they offer for free..

Aditya Mansingh Inn is the best-located hotel for anyone visiting Somnath Temple. It’s literally right outside the temple’s exit gate, making it extremely convenient for visitors. Location is good. ~ 1.4 kms from temple entrance. Very close to the highway and bus stop. But if you have elderly people or very small child and not able to walk till the temple, then autos charge 100 Rs.

I went in for a buffet dinner and welcome was less appealing, no one was bothered to welcome the new dine in guest.
Due to al a carte restrictions out of 4 just 1 pax continued with buffet dinner, rest 3 of us left.
After a 10 to 15 minutes wait i wad attended on my table with water later wich i started with the dinner. Starter was missing for approx 20 minutes, soup was cold, so I switched to main course where again I've to wait for 12 to 15 minutes for bread which came raw and un cooked. The vegetable was losing water which means gravy was not properly cooked. Thai curry was watery and average, it was missing the richness and flavour. Rice was burnt and sticking to the vessels, there was no ladle to pour Dal.
Overall not worth the price and definitely not the Lords Quality. It was more of a waiting session rather dinner.
Go for local restaurants or opt for other hotel but not the Lords. Complete waste of money.

I had a very unpleasant stay at this hotel. After booking the room for ₹6000, I was shocked to be charged an additional ₹2000 upon arrival, with no proper explanation. This kind of bait-and-switch pricing is unacceptable and felt deliberately deceitful.
To make matters worse, they were overcharging for basic amenities like tea, and when I asked for hot water, it was unavailable during crucial times. The Wi-Fi also didn’t work at all during my stay, which caused a lot of inconvenience.
Overall, the service was poor and the management seemed indifferent to guest concerns. I would not recommend this place to anyone — there are far better options that are transparent and actually value their customers.
We booked a room at this hotel after confirming with the staff that they accommodate couples, especially since we're engaged. They asked for proof, and we showed them photographs, but refused to share them via phone due to privacy concerns. However, upon arrival, the staff denied room allocation, despite our prior confirmation. After showing them the recording of our previous conversation, they relented but asked us to share the photos via phone, which we again refused. After a heated argument and discussion with the GM, they finally allocated the room.
The staff's behavior was rude and unprofessional. They misguided us, ruined our trip, and the room was in poor condition with water leakage and unclean flooring. We also paid for early check-in but didn't receive a receipt. I strongly advise against choosing this hotel for your trip. The experience was disappointing and unworthy of the cost.
⚠️ Fraud Alert – Cyber Scam by Hotel | Demand for Justice
I’m writing this review to alert others and seek justice for a serious fraud committed by this hotel. I made a booking over a call and was asked to make a 100% advance payment in Hotel bank account. After payment, I was sent a receipt confirming the booking. However, on the day of check-in, the hotel denied any booking and claimed it was a fraud.
To make things worse, they showed a fake complaint letter supposedly filed with the police – clearly an attempt to avoid accountability. There was no help or support from the hotel after the payment was made. This is a blatant case of cyber fraud and cheating.
I have attached screenshots of the booking receipt and the fake no signed police letter that too of Feb for transparency. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable and should not go unchecked.
I request the concerned authorities to investigate this matter and take strict action. I urge Google to review this listing and potential travelers to be extremely cautious.
I request everyone to support, raise their voice, and help get this hotel delisted from Google and all online platforms to prevent more people from falling victim.

Rooms are good in size but overpriced at what they charge plus they also charged extra when we asked for early check in even though many rooms were vacate.. Hygeine is the main issue as everything seems dirty and smelly including towels , bedsheets etc..washrooms were also not cleaned enough..look for another property which come in same or lower budget

Recently during our Somnath visit we had lunch at Shiv Ganga restaurant.
We were a group of 5 including to kids and we tried different food items. We had ordered dosa for the kids. And we ordered dal fry butter, paneer masala for others.
Frankly was delighted to see the super fast service. In less than 10 minutes, dal & vegetables were delivered. Rotis, naan including repeat orders were delivered within 1-2 mins. Amazing 🤩
The shop doesn't accept online, digital payments. Only cash.
I wish I could give more than 5 stars😅… Anyways, the food was outstanding, I have never ate such delicious dishes and on top of that, the service was beyond expectations. You just have to order the food and it won’t take more than 5 mins to be at your table.. all in all, great experience. Must visit place in Somnath.

Mocktail and ice creams are not worthy (we didn't like the quality of it).
It's not like a BBQ nation but for this rate it's good and best.

My recent visit to Mad over Grills, Somnath was, unfortunately, a major letdown and one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a while. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that this restaurant was struggling to keep up, and the issues only piled up from there.
The food quality was well below average. What little was available in the buffet was either lukewarm or lacked flavor, making it barely edible. To make matters worse, most of the buffet containers were empty, and there was no effort to replenish them in a timely manner. It felt like the kitchen was either unprepared or simply didn’t care about the diners’ experience.
Hygiene was another major concern. The restaurant was visibly unclean, with dirty tables and floors that hadn’t been tended to. This lack of attention to cleanliness made the entire experience feel uncomfortable and unappetizing.
The staffing situation was equally problematic. There were only 3-4 staff members handling the entire operation, which was clearly insufficient for a busy restaurant. The team seemed overwhelmed, resulting in slow service and a chaotic atmosphere. It was evident that the restaurant was understaffed, and this negatively impacted every aspect of the visit.
Overall, I cannot recommend Mad over Grills to anyone looking for a decent dining experience. The combination of subpar food, extremely poor hygiene, empty buffet stations, and inadequate staffing makes this place a hard pass. I strongly urge others to explore different dining options and avoid this restaurant altogether. Save your money and appetite for somewhere that values its customers and maintains basic standards.

Diu Airport is a domestic airport serving Diu in the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, India. Besides Diu, it also serves the neighbouring areas of Gujarat, including Veraval and Jafrabad. It is the only airport in the union territory with commercial operations
