Enoshima Shrine Hetsumiya

Shinto shrine
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Enoshima Shrine is a renowned mountaintop complex featuring three ancient shrines, picturesque grounds, and stunning panoramic views. Dedicated to Benzaiten, the goddess of wisdom and music, this Shinto shrine is among Japan's most famous. Located just a short walk from Katase-Enoshima Station, it includes Hetsunomiya with its octagonal pavilion enshrining Benzaiten.
We visited this Shrine and really liked it. The shrine has a nice atmosphere and beautiful views. It’s a peaceful place to explore while walking around Enoshima Island. I enjoyed the visit a lot!
Laloena A — Google review
It is a typical shrine as others. If you have spare time to kamakura, can spend an hour or two. Take the escar to the top.
Simon W — Google review
This is a good hike to reach the temple. There is an elevator nearby for a fee. It did feel rewarding to walk up to the top and it did not take too long. Other than that this seemed very unremarkable. This is an easy skip if you are short on time.
Vignesh M — Google review
Enoshima Shrine – Hetsunomiya is a peaceful and beautiful spot on Enoshima Island. The walk up through the vibrant shops and red gates is really fun and colorful. The shrine itself is calm with lovely traditional architecture and a nice spiritual vibe. It’s a great place to take a break and enjoy some quiet time after exploring the busy island. Easy to reach from the station, and definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!
Giftzy_nana — Google review
It’s a beautiful shrine with a long history and lots of interesting activities if you’re familiar with the culture. They also hold many small daily events. I bought a cute dragon omamori and noticed this shrine, like others on Enoshima island, has a sigil reminiscent of the Deathly Hallows!
Natasha M — Google review
Beautiful area with a lot of interesting stuff. The shrine is the first you encounter as you access the island through the bridge. From here you can climb up following the stairs or just pay a fee for the escalator. We took the stairs and it was a great experience. Overall we spent around 3 hours on the island and we got as far as we could at the entrance of the cave but we decided not to visit it as it did not seem worth it. We even met a small raccoon which was a welcomed surprise!
Alessandro B — Google review
This place is a nice temple, but the tourists are too noisy here. My trip started off with a lady cutting in front of me for the Esca tickets. I told her I was waiting and she just ignored me and walked forward to buy tickets. Not sure what the worker is there for. Then I made it up only to hear constant yelling from other tourists. It's just people trying to take photos everywhere. I tried to get some peace/quiet and went to the corner of the garden where there's a view. Ahh, nice. Then some guy with a camera thought I found something and came over and called his family over. I was done. It's more peaceful at a packed Starbucks. I wonder how bad it is at the top of the tower. If you want to come here, come either super early or really late.
Kenjiro Y — Google review
Hetsunomiya (辺津宮) — the first stop on the path up Enoshima. This shrine marks the entrance before climbing toward the Sea Candle. In summer, the sun can be strong, and walking all the way up without using the escalator is quite a challenge! You can take the escalator (paid) on the left after passing the Torii , or walk up the traditional way. The path is long and steep, so be prepared — if you’re not used to walking uphill, you might feel it in your legs by the end. (…or maybe I’m just getting old 😅)

Enoshima Aquarium

Enoshima Aquarium, situated near Katase Beach, is a Pacific Ocean and Sagami Bay-themed aquarium showcasing diverse marine life. The concept of the aquarium is centered around 'enjoy learning' and offers various programs including a touch pool for up-close encounters with creatures from Sagami Bay. One of its highlights is the 'Sagami Bay Zone,' featuring a large water tank where approximately 8,000 sardines swim.
One of the strategic places for family and kids, where you can spend a whole day excursion: explore and learn about sea creatures, followed by playing at the beach. Mount Fuji can be seen if the weather is nice. Sunset time on a clear day can be a relaxing yet mesmerizing moment to end the trip.
Edwina T — Google review
It was awesome! There's lots to do and see, the jellyfish display was probably my favorite...but there were 2 capybara. seaturtles and a place you could touch fish if that's your kind of thing. I loved the little teddy lottery they had, I think it was whales, dolphins or otter plushies you could win. Overall, it was amazing but very very busy. Perhaps because we went during summer of what I now know is a tourist town, but it was very busy.
Jasmine F — Google review
Our daughter loves aquariums so we’ve been to a few, in the US, Mexico, Vietnam, but this one in Enoshima was by far the prettiest. I don’t know how to describe it but each tank was spotless, all the fish and animals were well taken care of and happy, and the place was just sparkling clean, didn’t even smell like sea water, even though it sits right on the beach! Affordable parking, easy access, and just a wonderful, active day for the family. Easily spent 3hrs, could have spent an hour or longer! Plan accordingly.
Tak O — Google review
Super cool aquarium! Plenty of stuff to see. Only down side is that there wasn't a lot of English translations of signs. It would have been great to be able to actually read about some of the animals. They at least had the animal names in English.
Bilford W — Google review
This is a very nice aquarium with a wide variety of fish and other animals to view. It's a good event to experience with a group.
Jonathan M — Google review
A really large and beautiful aquarium with a large variety of things to look at and interact with. The surrounding area is so beautiful. It's one of the most beautiful aquariums that I have been to.
Jason R — Google review
Nice aquarium! Just a bit messy to navigate through. You can buy tickets on spot as well, has a stamp near the ticket station AND! Thrashcans infront of toilets 🤣 I really liked the jellyfish exhibit
Petra Z — Google review
Such an amazing experience with diverse fauna and the science behind protecting our environment and how the animals are cared for. The bonus was seeing the dolphin show!

Enoshima Sea Candle is a modern lighthouse and observatory built in 2003, offering stunning panoramic views of Sagami Bay. Located just off the coast west of Kamakura, this resort area features not only the iconic Enoshima Sea Candle but also beautiful gardens, the famous 'Love Bell' for couples seeking good luck, intriguing caves to explore, and several shrines collectively known as Enoshima Shrine.
Nice views overlooking the city and Mt. Fuji on a clear day. Grounds leading to the top were well-tended. P.s. The walk up isn't too bad, but if you aren't feeling it then just pay for the elevator. Do note that the elevator is only one-way so you'll still have to go down by the stairs.
Ethan — Google review
Beautiful view of the ocean and Mt. Fuji on clear days. The area is well maintained with a nice atmosphere. No long wait to enter, you go up by elevator and can walk down the stairs if you like. Definitely worth a visit.
Filip B — Google review
Rather cloudy when we went but nice views of nearby buildings and beautiful sunset. Saw a tiny glimpse of Mount Fuji haha. There is a floor that has glass windows and the floor above which has an outdoor area with some seating.
JX — Google review
I was there on a week day, please consider this when planning the visit. I assume there is significantly more demand during weekends. This tower is an absolute highlight of my Enoshima visit. I like high places, but this tower is more special. The elevator offers a good view already when bringing you up. At the top an excellent view and sitting possibilities await. One can also see the birds of prey flying around the island and follow them visually. The walk down was also a joy, but note that it is actually closed, so one needs to use the elevator to come down. In my case the door was open and since I can't read Japanese I went down the stairs only to discover a locked door at the bottom.
Walther X — Google review
The Enoshima Sea Candle is a must-visit if you’re in the area — especially at night. The illuminated tower becomes the centerpiece of a stunning light show that feels both peaceful and surreal. The view from the top offers a sweeping 360-degree panorama of the coastline, and on clear days you can even spot Mt. Fuji in the distance. Do note that access to the Sea Candle itself requires a separate ticket from the main Enoshima area. It’s well worth it, though, especially if you’re timing your visit for the evening light display. The wind at the top can be quite strong, so bring a jacket or dress warmly — especially in colder months. If you have extra time, make sure to stop by the Enoshima Aquarium below the island. It’s a surprisingly well-curated experience with engaging exhibits, including deep-sea creatures and jellyfish displays. Pairing the aquarium with a walk up to the Sea Candle makes for a great half-day adventure. Overall, the Sea Candle is one of those experiences that combines nature, design, and atmosphere in a way that leaves a lasting impression.
Dave W — Google review
Well worth the visit , unfortunately we missed the candle show a few days back but the views were still awesome. Would recommend sunset/night
Avalanche — Google review
Great day trip outside of Tokyo. Worth visiting the 'Sea Candle' and everything else it has to offer such as little cafe's, shops, underground cave networks, floral gardens, etc. Came here in early October, weather was great!
Daniel D — Google review
Good place to see the whole view of Enoshima. I went there near sunset, and it is still good even with many clouds. Definitely better when it's sunny. You can even walk down the lighthouse using the stairs. A great challenge especially at night.👍🏻 You can have the 1 Day Enoshima Pass ticket (which includes the Sea Candle) at the Escar ticket booth. A great deal for just around 1100 Yen. Also includes the Escar service and the caves.

Gardens
Enoshima Samuel Cocking Garden is a historic Meiji-era garden that blends Japanese and Western influences, boasting a variety of seasonal blooms. Originally established by British merchant Samuel Cocking in 1862, the garden is now maintained by Fujisawa city. One of its main attractions is the renowned winter illumination event called The Jewel of Shonan, which features enchanting displays including winter tulips and a tunnel of Swarovski crystals.
Enoshima Samuel Cocking Garden is a fantastic spot to catch a beautiful sunset with stunning views of the coastline and Mt. Fuji. To reach the observatory park, you need to purchase a ticket, and there are paid escalators available to take you up to the observation tower. The view from the top is incredible, especially during sunset when the sky is filled with vibrant colors. The garden itself is peaceful, and it’s a great place to unwind and enjoy the scenery. Highly recommended for a relaxing visit!
Javed_mate — Google review
I think we missed the excellent night view of the garden. And there were not much flowers also this time. It is an organized nice garden with nighttime lighting.
Shahed S — Google review
Well worth the ticket for the garden and the sea candle. Sea candle offers fantastic views of the coast, especially if you go to the open air deck (which will be freezing in winter, so bring a coat and some heat packs) You’ll spend most of your time at the garden itself, which features fantastic viewing points of the coast, various restaurants, cafes, food stalls, and pubs. In winter there are spectacular light shows.
Christian — Google review
We went there for the lantern Festival and it was magical! The lights were amazing and although there was a lot of people we still managed to enjoy it!
エリザElisa — Google review
A botanical garden located on Enoshima Island in Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture. Established in 1880 by British merchant Samuel Cocking, the garden features a variety of tropical plants and seasonal flowers. Highlights include the Enoshima Sea Candle, a tall lookout tower offering panoramic views, and a restored 19th-century greenhouse housing tropical plants. It's a scenic and peaceful spot for nature lovers. 🌿🌸
Yang — Google review
I was there in the evening to take advantage of the Shonan light festival (10,000 candles) in there. I believe it runs until early November. It was really cool and nice to see. I really enjoyed my evening there. Just a reminder when you're buying tickets to enter. You'll need the same ticket to exit, so remember where you put and don't throw in the garbage after entering.
Db2 A — Google review
Honestly, it was more that we had to pass through to get to the observation tower. That being said, it was well-illuminated at night. Not blindingly bright like some other places I've been to.
Chris W — Google review
A great place to visit and definitely one of multiple excellent sights to see on Enoshima Island. It’s pretty big with a couple of cafes and nice seating to relax and take in the views. The flowers are beautiful and there are many different types. I would recommend paying the ¥1000 fee to use the escalators and it will give you access to other venues so it pays for itself.

Enoshima Island Spa

Day spa
Aquatic center
Enoshima Island Spa, also known as Enospa, is a popular destination for tourists of all ages. It features attractions like traditional hot spring baths and indoor/outdoor pools with stunning views of Mount Fuji. Families can enjoy the Enoshima Aquarium along with the spa facilities. The gender-segregated hot spring baths and various pools make it an ideal spot for relaxation and rejuvenation while taking in the beautiful coastal scenery.
This was such a wonderful experience. My husband and I are on our fourth trip to Japan and we are staying in Enoshima. Since it's raining today, we decided to try this onsen and since it's a short walk from where we are staying. We got there around 11:30 and we had no wait at all. I only wanted to do the onsen while my husband got the package that included the onsen and the pool. My package was only for two hours and his was for the whole day. Two hours was more than enough. I was able to try all the different types of baths. My feet also feel and look completely revived. It was also mostly empty, probably due to the rain. At one point for a while, it was just us in the whole place. Unfortunately, we were unable to fully see the bay since it was pouring rain but it was quite calming to watch it through the window. We are halfway through our trip and this was the perfect midway boost.
Jan-Kristòf L — Google review
The onsen is so clean and the clientele is polite and nice, but the pools on the second and third floors, they take the cake. Instagram-worthy.
Mayflower T — Google review
The sunset, looking out into the ocean in a pool was beautiful. The staff was also helpful. However the facilities are definitely dated, from the pools to the changing rooms. There was a shower that was broken (literally the glass was shattered) so we opted to shower in the Onsen instead. The combination of dated, parts run down and a public pool made the place feel dirty. For example in the photos there’s supposed to be a waterfall and that wasn’t there but a safety tarp was by one of the pools. Looking up in the ceiling the details of the roofs was filthy. Top floor has music blasting, bottom floor had a cave like pool & the “waterfall” pool that did not work (with the safety tarp). I came on a weekday but I can imagine it being a bad experience if it’s super busy. Overall it’s not that bad, it’s still Japan and definitely cleaner than most other countries but not the nicest place I’ve been to.
ItsHelenKayy — Google review
Tattoos are not allowed. Please grow up and start living in the 21st century. I understand the history with Yakuza, but that is just not up to date anymore. Plenty of people have tattoos nowadays. It's discriminatory. Even the Japan Tourism Agency encourages to relax no-tattoo policies.
Jenny — Google review
I visited this spa with 19 overseas visitors without reservation. However, we have communicated through its webpage and it said it was not necessary to book in advance. When we visited there, a male clerk took care of us. His attitude towards us was extremely rude and we didn’t feel any hospitality at all. The facility itself was excellent and we could enjoy a lot. But what was really disappointing was his attitude.
Macky H — Google review
Came today to walk the island. We got hungry so came to the Spa restaurant to have lunch. They have a buffet and also a la carts menu. We had the tofu salad and this delicious seafood bouillabaisse. As well as surprisingly OK Japanese sparkling wine. And it’s not at all crowded! Surprise!!
Cameron S — Google review
Ive been coming here for 18 years, this is the gemmy gods. Super lowkey, amazing views, foods, and experience. I love that its never crowded, always a blessing to visit.

The island also boasts an observation tower with a 360-degree panoramic view that includes sights like Mt. Fuji and Ohshima Island.
Nice island to visit. Suggest to go early and after visiting, seeing the sites and work your hunger, you arrive in time to try all the street food or restaurants the Enoshima proposes. I also early morning and on a beautiful day, more chances to see Mount Fuji like we did
Tumata G — Google review
A wonderful summer getaway spot for those living in or visiting Tokyo! It’s only a short train ride away, making it perfect for a day trip. One thing to watch out for is the weather—clear days give you the best experience and views. The island is full of delicious food options, and if you want to save energy, there’s even an escalator that takes you up toward the Sea Candle faster. With so many scenic spots and attractions scattered around the island, you can easily enjoy Enoshima from morning until night.

Enoshima is a must-see — a beautiful island with stunning views, shrines, caves, and great food. The mix of nature, culture, and seaside atmosphere makes it a perfect day trip. Truly worth the visit!

Sadly the weather wasn't amazing, but that didn't ruin this small but beautiful island. I haven't fully explored it, but that only means there's a reason to come back when the sun is shining.
Tim P — Google review
A beautiful small island with beautiful sunset. Good food, good scenery. Since it is near from Tokyo, this is a good 1-day trip alternative for your vacation in Japan
Eva L — Google review
A romantic day trip and awesome place to go chasing sunsets. I always make sure to take friends and family so that they can experience it. On the weekends, it gets quite busy but never too crowded to enjoy. The variety of people is also enjoyable.
James M — Google review
Lovely little island: beautiful shrines, good cave experience, observation tower, beautiful candle garden, nice little shops….
Sari A — Google review
Had a brief afternoon visiting this beautiful island and it was so worth it! Totally came for the cats (as the island was acclaimed as a cat island) but there weren’t that many cats indeed. I still encountered like 8-9 kittens around the island and they were soooo cute/felt relaxed. I guess you couldn’t really look for them but instead let them bump into you. Anyway just having a walk around and enjoy the local seafood l was still enjoyable!

Katase-Enoshima Station

Mentioned on
3 lists
Train station
When traveling from Shinjuku to Enoshima, the easiest way is to take the Odakyu Enoshima line and alight at Katase-Enoshima Station. Consider purchasing an Odakyu Enoshima-Kamakura Freepass before boarding a stylish Romance Car on this route.
This station should have been an attraction itself. For FFXIV players, it is giving Shisui of the Violet Tides vibes. The facade of the station is designed to look like the Dragon Palace, an opulent castle in the Urashima Taro folklore. There's a jellyfish tank that gives a preview to your visit to the Enoshima Aquarium nearby. If not, you can just get mesmerised by their elegance. Take a closer look at the details of the building and you will notice sculptures of dragons and sea creatures We didn't stay until nightfall for some dreamy feel. So what happened here? When we were about to return via romancecar, we were notified that there had been a 人身事故 and the romancecar service will be delayed for some time. Hence we have to find an alternate way home. My heart! 😢 I will return and I will take the romancecar one day!
Alvin L — Google review
Very nice station. The design is very unique and picture worthy. It is the terminus for the Odakyu Enoshima line, and the station is the closest one to Enoshima. They view coming out of the station is also very nice, and you could see enohshima as soon as you walk outside
Mike C — Google review
Beautifully lit station at night. Restaurants and convenience stores next to it so you can relax while waiting. Took the Odakyu Romance car back to Shinjuku from here.
C.H L — Google review
I arrived at Katase-Enoshima Station to visit Enoshima Island. I got the Eno-Pass, a 1-day "passport" that includes all the main attractions. The station isn't very big but is well-organized, making it easy to quickly understand where you are and how to get to your next destination. This made my journey smooth and hassle-free. I came back here in the afternoon to go back to Fujisawa Station.
João L — Google review

Katase Enoshima Station is the last stop on the Enoshima Line. It’s unique design represents Ryugujo, an undersea palace from a Japanese folklore. It is a lovely and easy day trip from Tokyo. Also stop at Kamakura and Enoshima Island

This morning, when I was stopped at a traffic light and asked to charge my bus, I was ignored at first, and then refused, saying "I can't do it," with a look of genuine annoyance. Can't they just handle things normally? I sincerely hope that Kanachu will follow their example and review their employee training on the occasion of their 120th anniversary. Today, I asked to charge my bus again and was refused. This has never happened before at Kanachu, so I was surprised, and sure enough, it was an Enoshima Electric Railway bus. Enoshima Iwaya Cave

Mentioned on
1 list
Nature & Parks
Historical landmark
Geologic Formations
Enoshima Iwaya Cave, consisting of the 152-meter Daiichi Iwaya and the 56-meter Daini Iwaya, was naturally sculpted by ocean waves. Once a site for Buddhist rituals, it now features stone statues, a small shrine, and historical exhibits. The mysterious ambiance is linked to the legend of the Dragon God. Visitors can stroll through with candles provided for an atmospheric experience.
Mystical, moody, and full of ocean whispers 🌊🕯️ Enoshima Iwaya Caves feel like stepping into an ancient legend. Carved by the sea and shaped by time, these caves are dimly lit, echoey, and dripping with mystery. You walk with a candle in hand, following narrow paths while waves crash just beyond the rocks — it’s eerie, exciting, and surprisingly peaceful. There’s a quiet spiritual vibe here, with statues tucked into the stone and the scent of sea spray in the air. Not just a cave – an experience. 🕯️ Candle-lit cave walk = main character moment 🌊 Epic ocean views right outside ✨ Great stop after exploring Enoshima Shrine or the Sea Candle

Really cool! Interesting history and folklore; you are surrounded by natural beauty! Our 8 y.o. son enjoyed the experience and discovering the dragon’s lair! Crowds weren’t too bad for a Saturday in June. But be prepared for a lot of walking/hiking up and down steps. Give yourself the whole day to fully explore and see the sights. Lots of little snack shops and restaurants to try out for quick bites. We were too tired to hike to go see the lovers’ bell. Take your time and take breaks. We bought the tickets for the escalators going up-sooo worth it!
Blia Y — Google review
Interesting cave accessed by a coastal walkway with lovely views of the sea. Inside the cave the concrete path provides safe access, but somewhat detracts from the experience of being in a cave. But there's a lovely small shrine at the end with a great roaring demon (clap your hands loudly to make it roar - see my video attached to this review). You have to crouch sometimes, so tall people beware!
Alistair C — Google review
Enoshima Island is such a fun place to explore on foot. The walk around the island is full of small shops and food stalls, each offering something different to try — it’s easy to spend hours just wandering and snacking. The Enoshima Iwaya Caves were also a nice surprise and worth the visit. The mix of ocean views, local food, and relaxed seaside atmosphere makes it one of those spots that perfectly captures the charm of coastal Japan.

1. Sacred caves meant for prayer purposes in the old days 2. Be prepared for long flights of downward stairs from the shrine (hill top) to the cave. Going there is not tough, going back to the entrance of the island means long upwards flights of stairs which will be difficult for Elderly or those lack of stamina 3. Nice scenery and cooling tunnel of caves.
Vincent Y — Google review
It's a relatively small cave system with a 500 yen entrance fee. It's pretty chill, very nice and has a lot of history to it. The fun part is the stairs to get there!
Kevin T — Google review
I wish I read reviews before going! Only recommended for people with strong connection to the local religious beliefs and those who love walking down and back up steep stairs. The caves themselves have been excavated to the point of removing most of their interest. There are cultural/religious points of interest. Most non-Japanese people I heard say things like it wasn't worth it. I recommend going to the Candle tower (for the view) then making your way down the steps to the main street. Another hot tip - the local bus will save you a walk back into the main town at only ¥290 to the main station. A photo of the "pay off"! (My fellow Australians, honestly, it is not worth it!)
Megan B — Google review
Enoshima caves were worth the time and effort to visit. Good fishing spot too, if you like fishing, just make sure you bring your baits. The walk to get to the caves is long. Make sure you are wearing your trusted running or walking shoes. There are lots of spots to take good photos from as well.

Eggs 'n Things

Hawaiian restaurant
Restaurant
Eggs 'n Things in Enoshima offers a stunning panoramic view of Enoshima and Sagami Bay, making it the perfect spot to enjoy the sea breeze while indulging in their delicious pancakes topped with an assortment of fruits. The restaurant also provides a great selection of food and drinks, including burgers for those not into breakfast foods, along with an English menu.
We had breakfast here on a weekday. There was no wait. The food was tasty. A special breakfast menu was available, including a drink for a reduced price. Across the street from the beach, a beautiful restaurant with beach vibes.

Western breakfast place if you start your day early before 10am. Simple ok place for eggs and pancake place.

Chanced upon this place after watching the sunset opposite the road. It’s a quaint little restaurant with some hawaii vibes. Can’t go wrong with anything that has eggs in them! They have some hawaiian inspired dishes too.

We went on weekday at afternoon so there is not very crowded. We ordered an egg benedict with salmon and avocado, cheese omelet and strawberry pancake as dessert. The portion is large and delicious, the roasted potatoes are also attractive and yummy. The cream of pancake tasted like fresh milk and was not greasy, the strawberries were very fresh too.

It's ok, sometimes it's just loud inside. Food is average.
Vu P — Google review
Awful. Maybe too many tourists and they don’t expect any return customers. We ordered Eggs Benedict and blueberry waffle for breakfast. They offered me to choose grilled potatoes or French fries to go with the Eggs Benedict. The grilled potatoes was the saltiest and softest form of potato I had ever put in my mouth. After the first bite, I told the waiter that the flavours are not right and asked for the potatoes to be replaced. He said the flavours can’t be changed in a rough manner. The sorry was not sincere at all. So, I just finished the Eggs Benedict which tasted normal but not impressive. The blueberry waffle was another disappointment. The waffle was poured over blueberry sauce and sweetened blueberries on top when served. However, the blueberry sauce went straight into the centre of the waffle so the texture was like a shoe sole. The waiters don’t seem to pass on customer feedback to the kitchen and stayed away from our table. Even though there long queues in other branches the food is overrated. Literally just some ‘eggs n some not very nice things’.

I love eggs and when I saw this restaurant I pinned it immediately on my Maps and went there for dinner. They also have vegetarian options available, which is great! I had a vegetarian Eggs Benedict with potatoes and a vegetarian omelette with toast. The Eggs Benedict was great and so were the potatoes. Good size, well cooked, well balanced flavours. The omelette, on the other hand, was a bit disappointing as I found it pretty tasteless - too much butter, it covered all the other flavours. I also tried an Açai and Yogurt smoothie, which was amazing. Not too sweet.

This is the second Eggs n' Things I have been to and just like the one in Kyoto, this is a great spot. The food and drinks are great and they do have an English menu. I recommend any of the burgers if you aren't into breakfast foods. I had the avocado burger and it was great. The lava flow alcoholic frozen cocktail was delicious and perfect for the Summer.

iL CHIANTI BEACHE

Italian restaurant
iL Chianti Beach is a beachside Italian restaurant that offers high-quality food at a slightly higher price point. The menu includes delicious pasta and pizza dishes, with prices around 1600 yen per dish. While the wait for a table can be long, the food is worth it, especially if you're not on a tight budget. The restaurant is also kid-friendly, offering a children's menu and accommodating young diners with high chairs.
A very nice soothing place which offers beach side views, the staff is very polite and helpful, a had a vegetarian pizza here and trust me it was amazing, the taste the service everything was top notch, the interior actually feels like you are eating in a seaside italian restraunt. Amazing place. Also i should mention this, even though since i was a customer so it was kind of obligatory but my primary reason for going there was to charge my smartphone, and the staff didnt disappoint and helped me charge my smart phone.

Definitely not what we thought it would be. We both had pizza. It was "okay." I'd not order it again. The bottom of the crust was kind of soggy. The outer edge was good. One of the cheeses on the 4 cheese is bleu cheese. We probably should have asked what kind of cheeses were on there.
Debra J — Google review
They got a little busy so they didn’t clear our table and placed the bill on the table before we ordered our after meal coffee and desserts.white chocolate macadamia nut gelato was not good the nuts are raw and not roasted. Tiramisu was fine. Chiffon cake was dense. Chocolate moose cake with raspberry sauce was ok.
Kenneth M — Google review
Great view of the ocean, service overall was good and attentive. The salad sauce offered is something new, unique and refreshing. The pasta noodles were good as well with the toppings of the small fish complimenting the rest of the dish. Pizza was well cooked with nice crunch to the crust. Definitely recommended.
Kevin J — Google review
This was a great Italian restaurant located right by the water. It has plenty of seats so it’s suitable for a large group. Do be aware that it can get quite busy so you might have to wait awhile to be seated. The food was great and reasonably priced and I was very satisfied with the portion sizes. I love the atmosphere and the restaurant staff were very friendly. If you’re in the area I highly recommend this restaurant. Definitely worth the wait.
Kelly J — Google review
Good food but a little pricey for your average person. If you don’t care about price, the quality of food is great, so munch away! The food is clearly better than your average restaurant where you pay around 1000 yen. The price for pasta and pizza is around 1600 yen per dish and you can taste the difference. They have a kids menu and the pasta is around 660 yen and the kids liked it, but maybe not enough for big eaters. The one thing is the wait was pretty long to get a seat. We came at 11:30 but had to wait until 13:00 or so to finally get seated. Also, you can park at the big parking lot adjacent to the restaurant. If you spend over 2000 yen you can park there for two hours. Great food and it is a restaurant that I think it would be great for dates or special occasions.
Andrew A — Google review
Visited in a regular Sunday! Maybe because it was dinner time, we had to wait 45 minutes... But after eating, I can say it was worth the wait. Staff: not super friendly but they did things quick and accurately. I never had to ask for anything twice (which sadly happens at many restaurants) Baby/kids friendly: allowed us to leave the stroller at the entrance, prepared high chair for our son (2yo). Food: great! I don't have fancy words to express it but it was great! Price: not bad. 1 drink each, 6 dishes shared with 3 people 4000 yen (40 bucks) each. Food was more than enough that towards the end... We thought we might not be able to finish them all!

Tobiccho

$$$$affordable
Seafood donburi restaurant
Tobiccho is a popular seafood restaurant in Enoshima known for its incredibly fresh dishes made with rice and whitefish caught on the same day. Even during the closed fishing season, they serve freshly boiled whitefish. The friendly English-speaking staff make it a great option for non-Japanese speakers, and its convenient afternoon opening hours make it an ideal choice for visitors exploring the island. Additionally, their cheese bread is highly recommended as a takeaway treat.
Everything has shirasu (baby sardines) 😋 Warme environment and welcoming owner. You can enjoy drinking amazake (sweet rice malt, not alcohol) while sitting with a blanket given by the owner and wait your turn. Usually its crowded. I went there two times and waited nearly 25-30mins both times. You can also buy shirasu omiyage here. Or you can also order with Yamato 🐈‍⬛
Recep Y — Google review
I tried this place as it was recommended to have the freshest white bait. We tried the raw boiled and fried versions and the raw one tasted the best, the fish being soft and naturally sweet. Portions were generous and overall was good value for money
Ser T — Google review
I enjoyed an Enoshima-themed Meal (¥4180) at a local seafood restaurant, featuring a Seafood Donburi, Whitebait Tempura, Chawanmushi with Whitebait, Grilled Turban Shellfish, and Miso Soup with Sea Lettuce. The Seafood Donburi was packed with fresh, umami seafood atop vinegared rice that seemed endless. The Whitebait Tempura was crispy and huge but slightly plain without the dipping sauce. The Chawanmushi was smooth and comforting, while the Grilled Turban Shellfish had juicy, chewy meat with a shoyu flavour. The Miso Soup was warm and soothing. I also tried the Whitebait Tofu (¥550), a unique, handmade tofu with a firm texture and rich taste. The portions were surprisingly large, making the meal both filling and satisfying!

A popular restaurant in Enoshima, which is famous for its whitebait kamameshi(kettle rice). Prepared for a long waiting here. It’s highly recommended to come earlier to get the waiting number.
Antony L — Google review
TabiEats recommended this place! We knew Enoshima was renowned for their Shirasu (white bait) and this was a great spot! There is a choice between raw and cooked Shirasu, so be sure to try both! They have set lunches, which portions are huge and affordable.
V A — Google review
🐟 When in Enoshima, trying shirasu, or whitebait, is an absolute must! These tiny, delicate fish are a local specialty, often served fresh or boiled, and offer a unique taste of coastal Japan. We decided to try ours at Tobiccho, a well-loved spot known for its shirasu dishes, and it didn’t disappoint. The fish was prepared to perfection, with a light, fresh flavor that’s hard to describe—delicate yet full of umami, a true representation of Japanese coastal cuisine. While my wife and I savored every bite, the kids weren’t quite as thrilled—perhaps an acquired taste that they’ll come to appreciate in time! Still, it was fun for them to experience a new and traditional dish, and they loved watching the vibrant activity in the restaurant, which added to the experience. Tobiccho offers shirasu in various forms, from donburi bowls to sushi and salads, allowing you to enjoy this local delicacy in different ways. The atmosphere is lively, and the restaurant staff are friendly and helpful, making it a pleasant experience for families and food enthusiasts alike. For anyone visiting Enoshima, I highly recommend trying shirasu. It’s a unique and delicious way to connect with the region’s food culture, and Tobiccho is the perfect place to start. Even if it’s a new flavor for the family, the experience of trying such a local delicacy is one of those travel memories that stays with you.

A slice of Italy on Enoshima! The food here was great and being Italian myself, it was close to what is cooked back home, far better than American attempts at Italian cuisine. The pizza was great, the spaghetti was excellent and the Birra Moretti was the cherry on top. The staff was friendly and the seaside view was beautiful.

The food was great! Nice place to reward yourself after climbing all the way to the top. I had this meal after walking from Kamakura to Enoshima, and then going up to the top. Great place to enjoy enoshima view from up the mountain. You can see directly to the sea in the terrace. However you have to wait a bit long for the place to be available. It can be helped since many people visit the island daily. At that time we waited for around 50 minutes. we had vegetarian pizza and long potato menu. The pizza is so good. Juicy and crunchy. I particularly like the avocado on top of the pizza. The long potato is very tasty and crunchy also. The staff are kind. You can pay cashless by card, or qr code application such as paypay. The menu however a bit expensive due to the location.

This eatery is widely popular, evident from its bustling atmosphere when visited. Its accessibility also stands out as finding the restaurant is convenient.
Went for a negitoro and shirasu bowl at 2:30 pm and the place was very quiet and the atmosphere was relaxing. You are welcomed and return to pay on the ground floor but the restaurant itself is upstairs through an elevator. The bowl was excellent, the negitoro smooth and buttery, the shirasu (boiled) paired with soy sauce and a bit of wasabi was very savoury. You order through a tablet which doesn't have English as a setting, but it's pretty intuitive and you can always use a translator. I also got a side of ikura and it was very juicy and fresh. Free ice water refills and very nice sets of chopsticks, and the counter I was seated at had a nice view of the seaside. I asked to use the toilet and it was clean and modern. I would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant when it's not too crowded to fully enjoy the ambiance.

The quality of food is not very well in general, nth I will recommend, but, the price is almost 50% higher than other restaurants nearby. I feel it’s like a scam ….. After the meal and on the way back to the town, I found a normal seafood don costs ¥2650 here , while most of the others cost around ¥ 1600… A tempura set costs ¥3150 here, while most of the others are around ¥2000… In short, taste no good while it charges much higher than others almost 50%. Please consider if you would like to visit it.

The food quality was poor, and the service was incredibly lacking. I believe the staff may have been indifferent towards foreign customers who are unfamiliar with Japanese dining customs. The elderly waitresses disregarded my repeated requests for water and a children's plate, and the same occurred at another table. The prices were quite high. We ordered two pieces of abalone for over 3000 yen, but they were very small and bland. From the outside, the restaurant appears to be quite large with three stories, but based on my experience, I would not recommend it to foreign visitors.

This spot was recommended by my local tour guide to try out fresh seafood donbori. I ordered the Kaisen-don which includes many fresh sashimi & fresh whitebait. Love the freshness of the bowl and enjoyed every single bite. It may be a tourist trap, but i find this spot offers good donbori.

Great if you're looking for local food

Ordered the kaisendon. The quality of the sashimi seems really bad, especially compared to before. I ordered the 2500 yen kaisendon with the 500 yen B set with chawanmushi and miso soup. I’m honestly not sure how you can make chawanmushi taste bad, but it was not very good.

It was a terrible experience in Japan, the first time we ever felt like that The staff told us to just wait for a moment, finally we waited for nearly an hour, it's seems no one knows we are waiting, until we ask again. When we sited, the truly is that there are so many vacancies table, but no staff to clean up. Totally agree with the review yesterday "If you look at the sample outside and the real one, the sashimi is probably the pack sashimi sold at the supermarket" it's the worst seafood bowl that I have tasted in Japan, not worth the money Attached photo is the seafood bowl, cost 2,300Yen

Enoshima Uomi-tei

$$$$affordable
Seafood restaurant
Enoshima Uomi-tei is a popular restaurant known for its sushi plates, octopus, and fish fried in light tempura batter, all enjoyed against the backdrop of stunning sea and sunset views. Featured in a YouTube episode by TOKYO CHEAPO, this spot offers both regular indoor seating and an outside veranda with commanding ocean views. Despite its scenic location, the restaurant is not pretentious or overly expensive.
Memorable dining experience overlooking the sea! I was also lucky to see Mt Fuji before it turned cloudy! I had aji no tataki set meal with grilled clams あじたたき定食 焼きはまぐり付 for 3050 yen Fresh fish and juicy clams! But I think they are most popular for shirasu, hope I have the chance to go back for it! 📣Check out my IG/Lemon8/Tiktok @samlivestoeat for more detailed foodie reviews! 🥰

The place is likely popular due to the beautiful view. We thought the food was OK -- we've been spoiled by the ramen that we've eaten at in Tokyo where they are making the noodles fresh. These ramen noodles were the same you get in packages in the US.
Doug F — Google review
Great view with yummy food!! It was worth for a wait. It was weekday but still took at least 30 mins at 2pm if you want to outdoor seating.
Pin L — Google review
The best part about Uomi-tei is definitely the view — you get a beautiful look out over the sea while enjoying your meal. The restaurant has plenty of windows and even outdoor seating, creating an atmosphere that perfectly fits Enoshima. The food itself was decent, though not particularly standout, but the price and quality were fair. Service was okay, though it didn’t quite feel up to par compared to other restaurants I’ve been to in Japan. Overall, Uomi-tei is worth visiting for the view and ambiance alone, even if the food and service don’t completely impress.

Great spot to watch if you reserve for an outdoor table on a sunny day. The food was great! We really enjoyed the seaweed ramen.
Anthony C — Google review
What a convenient shop to rest for a hearty warm lunch from the walking. The wait was super quick. The staff were attentive and very friendly. Ordering was straightforward and the food came out surprisingly quick, yet the food was what we were expecting. Prices were reasonable. Stunning view of the bay. Highly recommend it when visiting Enoshima.

I got lured into this cliffside restaurant by empty turbo shells next to the entrance, but I found out that the actual turbo shell that was served was much smaller in size. The squid and the sashimi salads were delightful, though. I definitely recommend sitting outside for the stunning view, as I was able to watch local kites dancing in the sky.

The air conditioning was strong enough as it was hot and humidity outside. Went during being of august. Food was not too bad.

Gyoza no Ohsho - Fujisawa Station

$$$$cheap
Chinese restaurant
Chinese takeaway
If you find yourself near Fujisawa Station, Gyoza no Ohsho is a must-visit spot for those craving delicious yet affordable eats. This cozy eatery may be small and somewhat dated, but it packs a punch with its flavorful offerings. Diners rave about the crispy fried dumplings and well-seasoned stir-fried cabbage, making it a satisfying choice without breaking the bank.
Really enjoyed this fast-paced restaurant. Good food and not expensive for quality. Pork and kimchi was nice. Came on a Friday night at 7 and didn't have to wait very long.
Noah P — Google review
Good food especially for this price. People say every Ohsho store tastes different - I can say this one tastes nice! It’s not fine food and it’s definitely not the best out there, but it’s decent (especially considering the price). The restaurant is a bit small and it seems to be quite popular in Fujisawa so be prepared to wait in line. Takeout is also available and that could save you some time. I recommend visiting this store if you’re in the area and it isn’t busy!
羊くん — Google review
The seats in the restaurant are very cramped, making it feel quite crowded. The staff had some difficulty communicating in simple English (though I wasn't too surprised). However, the dumplings were quite delicious.

(Translated by Google) I visited with my two children. The staff were just inconsiderate. The plates were dirty. They even forgot to serve cold water. It's really unusable. This Osho restaurant is old and hasn't improved much. I wish the staff would stop getting angry in front of customers. It makes the food taste bad. Narita International Airport

International airport
Airport
Narita International Airport is a major airport serving the Tokyo area, with direct rail access to the city. Travelers can easily reach central Tokyo using the JR Pass, which is also convenient for exploring popular tourist spots within Tokyo. Narita City, home to the airport, is a hub connecting Tokyo with the world and offers attractions such as ancient temples and nearby historical towns. Visitors with limited time or layovers can explore these nearby attractions easily accessible from the airport.
Narita International Airport (NRT), located in Chiba Prefecture about 60 km east of central Tokyo, is Japan’s busiest hub for international travel. With three terminals serving a wide range of airlines and alliances, Narita offers efficient rail and bus connections to Tokyo via the Narita Express and Skyliner. The airport is known for its clean layout, multilingual signage, and thoughtful amenities like capsule hotels, observation decks, and cultural displays. Whether you're arriving or departing, Narita provides a smooth experience with plenty of dining and shopping options, including duty-free luxury brands and local souvenirs. Travelers appreciate Narita’s spacious terminals and reliable services, from luggage delivery counters to currency exchange kiosks. Terminal 1 and 2 host most international flights, while Terminal 3 caters to low-cost carriers. The airport’s design balances functionality with comfort, offering quiet lounges, family-friendly facilities, and even a Pokémon-themed experience for younger visitors. With its strong reputation and ongoing upgrades, Narita remains a top choice for global travelers entering Japan.

Well organized airport that’s easy to navigate. Check-in and security are usually smooth and the staff are helpful. There are plenty of shops and restaurants inside so waiting for your flight isn’t boring. Facilities are clean and comfortable, and the transportation options to and from Tokyo are very convenient. Overall a good airport experience whether you’re arriving or departing.
Val T — Google review
Narita international airport is one of two airports serving tokyo. It's well connected to the rest of Asia, Europe and America, as Japan becomes a tourism hotspot. The airport features excellent train service that is very frequent, along with limousine bus services, making it very accessible by public transit, like most things in Japan. The interior is extremely clean, and the toilets are magnificently delightful, much nicer than ones ife seen in MLE, CMB, COK and KUL.
The N — Google review
One of the best airports worldwide. Comfortable seating. Tax free shops. Clean and comfortable toilets. Appreciated the Pokémon store and the many food options. Excellent boarding experience. The vending machines sell drinks at the same price you would find them outside the airport.
Vasiliki M — Google review
Narita International Airport truly lives up to Japan’s reputation for efficiency and hospitality. From the moment I arrived, the staff were polite, helpful, and always ready to assist. The entire airport is clean, well organized, and easy to navigate, even for first-time travelers. Security and immigration processes were handled smoothly, with clear signs in multiple languages guiding passengers every step of the way. The waiting lounges are comfortable, and the wide selection of shops and restaurants makes any layover enjoyable. What stood out most was the calm atmosphere and the thoughtful touches everywhere—from spotless restrooms to convenient charging stations and reliable free Wi-Fi. Transportation options to and from Tokyo are also very convenient, with express trains and airport buses that run on time. Overall, Narita Airport offers a world-class travel experience that reflects the warmth and precision of Japanese culture. I would gladly travel through Narita again.
Aldrich L — Google review
Amazing airport. As a tourist, I found my experience here very well accommodated for. Staff were very hospitable and reliable. Airport is very easy to navigate with information desks scattered all over the terminals in multiple languages. There are convenient bus links right outside the arrivals gate that go to Tokyo station for a very affordable price. In addition, a 7eleven atm that is compatible with most western foreign master and visa cards to withdraw yen as cash. Lots of shopping options available for last minute gifts. Departing can be a bit tricky. There are 3 terminals and can ask the staff or read the electronic display to know which flight your flight is leaving from. Terminal 1 isn't attached to terminal 2 and 3, so consider coming 30min earlier in addition to the 3 hours in case your flight departs from terminal 1. Narita airport is very efficient and well thought out. Only recommendation would be more online resources available in multiple languages for foreign visitors to learn how the buses work before their travel as most bus workers weren't fluent in English when attempting to help. Highly recommend Visit Japan Web for foreigners to get the QR code for express entry. The government has been doing an amazing job helping as visitors feel welcome.

This airport was not amazing and not bad, it was just fine. The staff was friendly, the signs were displayed clearly so it was easy to get around. There was a smoking area outside the bus terminal which was nice because you're not allowed to smoke on the street in Japan.

Sights & Landmarks
Haneda Airport is a waterfront airport that serves the Greater Tokyo Area and offers direct rail access to the city, as well as free WiFi. Travelers can take the Keikyu Limousine Bus to Yokohama Station and transfer to the Yokosuka Line or Shonan Shinjuku Line to reach Kamakura Station, which takes about an hour.
Flight was excellent, airport is massive but the process of getting off, going through customs and grabbing our luggage was phenomenal! So well organized. Be prepared to go through miles of transit to get places with very fast, paced people moving in a quick manner. Loved flying over the city before landing. Just amazing.

Many information desks and welcome Centers to make navigation easier, especially for tourists. Very helpful and courteous airport staff. It's connected to the railway stations on the lower floors and there are also restaurants and convenient stores. There are comfortable seats available around the airport as well as h charging stations. Many vending machines and claw machines.

Haneda Airport is truly one of the best airports in the world. From the moment you arrive, everything feels seamless—clean, efficient, and well-organized. The signage is clear, making it easy to navigate even for first-time visitors, and security and immigration move quickly compared to many major airports. The terminals are modern, bright, and filled with a wide range of dining and shopping options, from authentic Japanese restaurants to luxury boutiques. The staff are courteous and attentive, always ready to help with a smile. Amenities like spotless restrooms, clean showers, and comfortable seating areas make layovers far more enjoyable. Transportation to and from the city is also incredibly convenient. Haneda combines Japanese hospitality with world-class efficiency, making travel smooth and stress-free.

Haneda Airport is busy at all times — even at 7:00 AM, it’s filled with students and tourists. The place is lively, energetic, and huge, with plenty of restaurants to choose from. You definitely won’t go hungry here! ✈️🍱☕️

Haneda Airport is one of the cleanest airports I’ve seen right next to Changi in Singapore. Very organized and well-maintained, you can do lots of things there with plan spotting at the observation deck. The Terminal 3 is very easy to navigate. Can’t wait to see Japan again in the future!
Josh F — Google review
Upstairs, there’s a Don Quijote. You don’t need to worry about buying souvenirs elsewhere because this airport has everything! I even forgot to bring my child’s milk bottle, and luckily I found one there. The price was the same as outside The halal food is delicious and the portions are big!
M — Google review
Very efficient, don't have to walk as much to get to your departure gate, there are outlets for almost every seat at each gate if you want to charge your phone or PC, there is a hot water fountain if you have your own tea bags. On top of that, the airport is like a combination of Little Tokyo and a museum.
Emi A — Google review
There are many nice restaurants and gift shops where people literally line up. If you are visiting Tokyo, when you return, give yourself more than 3 hours after immigration if you want to enjoy Japanese food for the last time before you leave and also buy souvenirs. We had three hours and it wasn’t enough.
