Indrayanti Beach, located in the Gunung Kidul area, is a picturesque destination for relaxation and photography. The beach features white sand, dramatic cliffs, and rock formations that create a striking contrast with the azure sea. Visitors can unwind on the sandy shores or explore nearby cafes and warungs to grab a meal while enjoying the scenic views. For adventure enthusiasts, there are water sports options such as jet skiing available at an additional cost.
Gorgeous beach, turqoise water, complete opposite of the crowded and heavy waved parangtritis
Ratna U — Google review
I came here after class, heading out around noon and arriving in the late afternoon. Luckily, it wasn’t crowded at all when we got there, which made the whole experience even better. The peaceful atmosphere really allowed us to relax, enjoy the view, and just spend quality time with friends without any distractions or noise. The beach was surprisingly clean, probably because there weren’t too many visitors that day. It made walking around barefoot and sitting by the shore feel really pleasant. There was no trash lying around, and the water looked clear and calm, which added to the charm of the place. Access to the beach was also easy, with a fairly smooth road that wasn’t hard to follow or navigate. We didn’t run into any rough or tricky terrain, so it’s definitely a place that’s accessible for motorbikes or cars without much trouble. If you’re planning to visit, I highly recommend coming in the late afternoon. The vibe during that time is just perfect — not too hot, with a soft breeze, and the kind of lighting that makes everything look even more beautiful. A super chill spot to unwind after a long day!
Zelza A — Google review
A good beach, clean, provides all facilities such as food or toilets, and you can choose between the pricey restaurant or the cheapest one. Better you check the weather first cause the big wave will come on the middle of the year
Wahyu S — Google review
Very beautiful, today everybody found a lot of water sources near each other, there was a hole going in under the tough solid rock (not the rocks in the beach or the sand, but just the rock like the normal rock you stand on.) . Some say that there is a river, some say there was just water sources. Though the second is correct. I have been there for hours but water still flows from that exact location of the water sources. You should also be careful in the seashore. There are sea urchins. In the rocks if you see a hole going below the rocks, do NOT reach your hand inside it without seeing what is inside, because there might be a sea urchin. The very seashore, should have sea urchins the size of a marble, if you go further away from seashore, you will find bigger ones under the rocks that have bigger holes. The bigger ones is estimated to be the size of a ping pong. But we didn't go far from the seashore. So BE CAREFUL.
Revando F — Google review
I always love this beach. White sand and so clean. We can take gorgeous photos from any angle. The beach is beautiful and has big waves so it is not recommended swimming for beginners and kids. Typical of the sea in the southern part of Indonesia. But there are some spots where children can play water comfortably. And don’t be lazy to always keep clean wherever you are. Peace!!!
Dee W — Google review
The beach view is beautiful with blue water and white sand, we can also swim or just play the water in the beach. There is also a hill but if we want to climb it up we have to pay again but unfortunatelly there many tourists who still throw therl rubbish. For the facilities there are many public toilets, small mosque. But to get there it takes about 2 hours by car.
Kemala D — Google review
Compare to beach located at parang tritis, better this one. Not bad, still got good view and sunset. Around 2 hours from city center, charge 10.000 rupiah per person for entrance ticket but this entrance ticket is for all beach in beaches area. If not mistake theres around 15-20 beaches, but for each beach you have to pay parking. Variative for charge, indrayanti beach charge 10.000.theres several local store and much local people rent a mat and umbrella beach, cash payment methode and a lot toilet here. Swimming is prohibited at this beach, but you can play at sea shore. Guard beach will be reminder if you to far from sea shore. Ovar all was good, local restaurant quite expensive for the price but still affordable.
Kristina D — Google review
Came here again. Actually this place was my fav beach, the lastest I came here was around 3 years ago. I loved the white sand, the big stone on the right is so instagramable. But, I was quite surprised about the fnb price. You need to spent for 23K for a whole coconut. It was only around 18K but now is not affordable anymore.

Wediombo Beach is a stunning natural gem nestled in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, approximately 70 kilometers from the bustling city center. This picturesque destination boasts a long and wide sandy shoreline adorned with coral rocks, offering calm waters perfect for relaxation. Surrounded by lush green hills, Wediombo Beach is not only a beautiful spot for sunbathing but also serves as an important marine conservation area that includes a protected turtle nesting site.
Had so much fun! The beach has a lot of big stone, so there are so many small “pond”. It is so beautiful, we had so much fun in this beach
Gabriela H — Google review
Great. We met a local lady and her friend there. They took us to a nice small lagoon, that was good for swimming and sight seeing.
Joseph C — Google review
A beautiful place. The beach is clean and watery clear. On this beach there is a hidden pool surrounded by a cluster of corals with a depth of 1.5 meters. This beach is also known as a favorite snorkeling spot for tourists. For those who have a hobby of fishing, in this beach area there is a reef hill that became a favorite place of the anglers to try their fishing ability.
Muchtar — Google review
Beautiful spot for camping. Perfect place for hunting sunset and playing water volley. You should really try sleeping under the majestic sky at night. Since there is no mosquitos here, you can enjoy sleeping outside your tent, accompanied by the sound of the waves and night creatures. Unforgettable memories.
Adji C — Google review
One of great beach in Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta. The road here is rather in good condition, yet pretty far from Jogja City, for like 2hrs by vehicle. Parking lot is spacious, and the beach is located below hill, so there's stairs toward the beach. So many street vendors, so you no need worry if you're hungry. The beach is still pristine. White sands, and the water color is beautiful. There's also a laguna, here, but you still need walk along the beach a bit far. You can swim here but be careful since the sea actually part of Indian Ocean and the wave and wind sometime so harsh.
Irene S — Google review
the beach is lower than the parking lot so we have to go down the stairs. Not too far but rather steep. if you are tired, motorcycle taxis are available for 5,000 rupiah. Visitors are not allowed to swim because there are more rocks and big waves. always use sunblock because the sun is very strong.
Naya N — Google review
This is an absolutely stunning beach. The sunset is right on the water. There's swimming and surfing, and the food there is very cheap. I stayed in a cottage only 50 meters from the beach, and at night I had the beach all to myself. The local people there are so friendly. What an amazing experience. I will be back soon.

Such a beautiful place in Yogyakarta You can see a beutiful sea from here. This is a good place for relaxing and enjoy a beautiful view. But there is a lot of trash in the beach when I'm come here :)

Baron Beach is a picturesque bay with black sand and towering karst cliffs in Gunung Kidul. It's known for its unique feature of sea water meeting fresh water, allowing visitors to swim in both. The beach gets crowded during school holidays, offering a fun experience for families with activities like playing in the sand and water. The area also boasts fresh seafood culinary delights, including the famous fish soup and lobster. Additionally, there's a scenic pathway through mountains that provides stunning views of the surroundings.
A beach that has spacious parking lots. last time i came here was more than 15 years ago and a bit surprised to see the beach these days. I think its not a typical beach that suitable for swimming cz there are too many fishing boats here and there. But its a good one for those who like to hunt seafoods and local souvenirs.
J.S P — Google review
Baron beach is one of the many small beaches in the area where you can get away from the noise and pollution of the big city. They are all a short drive from Yogjakarta so hire a scooter or motor and get on the way
Seimen B — Google review
Definitely worth the journey
Snowfleaker E — Google review
Here you can find a variety of seafood dishes and the unique craft of shellfish and marine animals. The cool air makes travelers feel at home to stay here.
Ismi S — Google review
A wonderful beach for family, with its brownish sand. It's a calm bay with a high cape with a lighthouse tower on its East flank, and an underground river on its West flank is recommended as a safe playground for children. There are fishermen and their colourful boats on the beach, and when lucky visitors can also buy freshly caught fishes from them at low prices. Food stalls and shops selling seafoods and souvenirs. Many toilets available for little money. No recommended lodging.
Raden S — Google review
The beach is surrounded by mountains and greenery, but the beach it self is narrow and sometime strong waves. Parking lot is quite spacy. We need to pay for the parking fee per vehicle.
Titan 1 — Google review
Sunday was really crowded. Not as big as parang tritis. But it's more shady n more friendly for little kids. To go to the beach, u need to rent a boat. Becareful when choosing seafood there, not all are fresh.
Mei H — Google review
Nice beach though you have to pay rp 10.000 to cross small river to reach the beach

Beach
Parangtritis Beach, located approximately 27 km from Yogyakarta, is a lively public beach known for its roaring waves and horse-drawn cart rides. While many visitors come to swim, locals prefer the freshwater streams such as Kedung Pengilon Waterfall or Mudal River due to the strong waves. The beach is enveloped by captivating local traditions and offers breathtaking sunsets, adding a touch of mysticism to its allure.
Parangtritis Beach is about 28 km from the center of Yogyakarta. Located in Parangtritis Village, Kretek District, Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. Offers a beach with beautiful scenery, big waves and soft black sand. Tourists can do activities such as Riding ATVs, motorbikes or horse-drawn carriages that are rented along the beach, Watching the beautiful sunset in the afternoon, also Playing kites. However, swimming is prohibited because the waves are quite large
Tri S — Google review
Parangtritis Beach is located south of Yogyakarta, about 1 to 1.5 hours away, depending on traffic. Parking can be a bit confusing, with fees ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 IDR. The beach itself is beautiful, but it gets very crowded, which also leads to some littering. However, the food stalls, entertainment such as riding a horse and ATV, and sunset views are fantastic. While I wouldn’t necessarily visit again if I had other options, my overall experience was still enjoyable—though it could have been better with fewer crowds and cleaner surroundings. Also i wouldn't advise to swimming here
Fauzan R — Google review
This beach offers a breathtaking natural experience, particularly during the months of July to September, when the weather is at its most favorable. The skies are typically clear, the sea is calm, and the sunset views are truly spectacular.
Sakhila C — Google review
We came to this beach by hiring a jeep. The price was expensive but the driver was skilled and friendly. The sand here is black in colour and the waves are very high but beautiful. It's nice to wait for the sunset here which is scenic and romantic.
S C — Google review
Loved it. Really nice place to unwind. Beautiful black sand beach, feisty sea wind to enjoy but be careful for horse excrement.
Arthareza P — Google review
Parangtritis Beach is a beach located in Yogyakarta, about an hour’s drive from the city. The beach has strong waves and a wide, black sand shoreline, which gives it a unique vibe, although swimming isn’t recommended because of the currents. When I went there, it was quite crowded, but the view especially at sunset was still beautiful. There were lots of local food stalls, people riding ATVs, and even horse carts along the shore. It’s not the cleanest beach, but the overall atmosphere is interesting. I’d recommend it for people who want to enjoy their holiday with friends, family and also take a beautiful photo
Calysta S — Google review
The natural scenery is very beautiful..🥰😍
Md B — Google review
Although the beach area is white sand and can be used for swimming, the waves are too strong, so it is not suitable for children without parental supervision. The best time to come here is not on holidays. Because the atmosphere will be more crowded than usual. I came here on a weekend, and the parking lot was full; many visitors came by various modes of transportation, especially buses, which dominate the place. The road to the beach is not big enough, so we had to walk a few feet to get there. Public facilities such as shower rooms and food stalls are widely available around the beach at quite affordable prices, making it easier for visitors.

Siung Beach, located in Gunungkidul, is a picturesque sandy beach surrounded by lush greenery and cliffs. It's a popular spot for rock climbers and features outrigger fishing boats dotting the coastline. The entrance fee is affordable at 10,000 rupiah, allowing visitors to enjoy the pristine white sand and vibrant marine life. While access to the beach can be challenging due to limited road access and no mobile phone signal, it offers a serene escape from the crowds.
Beautiful beach, if you are into rock climbing, this the place you should go, many routes with different level. The beach itself is very beautiful, great spot also for fishing, camping, and enjoying sunset
Lana — Google review
I have known this beach since 2011, and we often come here to do some rock climbing activities. The sand is white, the wave is big, and the view is just great. Out of all south Java beach on Yogyakarta, this is my favorite to healing. The access to this beach is not so easy so not many people would come, and big vehicles like buses can't access it. Also, there is no signal for the mobile phone, so when you come to this beach, for sure, you won't be able to live streaming on Instagram.
Rey W — Google review
Nice place, beautiful place to healing
Anita M — Google review
A beautiful beach with a very beautiful scenery. There's a lot of big coral here and the background either from bottom or from up is very good to see. A nice place to takes a pre-wedding photo shoot here. The wave is big and good enough to see and to refresh your mind. Just sitting at the big coral near the beach and just staring at the waves makes your mind get refreshed.
Rossy C — Google review
This beach is freaking beautiful. But local treat it wrong, so much trash around the sands, and they sometimes asking more for the fee (illegal). You not only could enjoying the beach but also can do a little 30 minutes hike to Bukit Pengilon and see a little waterfall called Banyu Tibo, the view is so breathtaking. 1. Legal government's entrance fee for 2 person: Rp. 10000 2. Some random local's entrance fee to hike to Bukit Pengilon for 2 person : Rp. 4000 3. Another random local's entrance fee to Banyu Tibo for 2 person: Rp. 6000 (it's listed Rp. 2000/person, but somehow the guy asking extra Rp. 1000) 4. Ice coconut drink at the beach: Rp. 13000 5. Illegal parking fee: Rp. 5000

I have stayed here one night with my family in May 2017 ... there is a small room on mountain just near this beach.... I took road trip from Jakarta and explored many good places in this region like Goa Pindul, Borobudur, so many places..... I love this place.

The beach has white sand, and has a large rock on the beach. Very beautiful scenery. The road to the beach is good and can be passed by car. This beach is perfect for holidays with family or with a partner. Beach entrance fee 1 person 5000 rupiah. Spacious car park.

Krakal Beach, located in Jogja, is gaining popularity among tourists for its surfing tours. The beach offers stunning scenery, especially from the hilltop where visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the waves and rocks. While the local food is affordable, it may be limited in variety. The beach provides huts for relaxation but charges apply if food is not purchased from the owner.
Beautiful beach, white sand with amazing rock structures. Good spots for photography or simply just to relax.
Hermin — Google review
good view but the sea wave to close to the beach lip, so pretty dangerous for swimming or playing with sea water pretty clean also for public beach there is also many many seafood stands around and cheap price eat seafood all your day the people around pretty patient also to local tourist
Han L — Google review
i went there on the weekday and only a few people in there. This is one of my favourite beach because of the beautiful scenery especially if you go up the hill, you can see a wider view, see the waves and rocks, very beautiful. local food prices are quite affordable but less varied. there are plenty of huts to sit and not pay only if we buy the owner's food. Unfortunately the toilet is not good and if weekdays, only a few are open.
Naya N — Google review
Was met by super arrogant male Indonesians wanting to charge 30k for entry - so I didn't go. I've been before. Food is like anywhere else, and can't swim in the beach as its too dangerous. Plus want to charge parking on entry. BETTER BEACHES IN BALI FOR FREE Forget this place I think, go to Medewi beach, Bali for more beautiful, can swim - no charge for entry
Rick S — Google review
Nice and calm place, good view, white sands, cheap, but not much around. If you just want to chill then this beach maybe perfect for you. Pretty neat compared to other beach near the area. Or if you just want to take a quick look before going to your main destination.
Marjan H — Google review
Beautiful view, so many food and drink seller. You can snorkle here when the water condition is good. The environment is clean but the way to parking area is narrow.

You can bring your kids here. No need to worry about the fasility like toilet, mosque, restaurant and souvenir store. They have big parking area and beautiful hill to hike to see the shoreline from top. Krakal had long shoreline and there is a monument on the top of a hill in the west and in the east you can also enjoy another beach.

Drini Beach is a stunning coastal gem located in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta. It stands out for its unique feature of being divided into two parts by a coral island, offering contrasting personalities to each side. The beach boasts serene white sand flanked by rocky hills and colorful fishing boats lining the shore, creating picturesque scenes that are perfect for photography. Visitors can also climb the large coral island when the sea water is low, adding an adventurous element to their beach experience.
Pantai Drini Gunung Kidul is a beautiful and well-maintained beach with an affordable entrance fee of just IDR 15,000 per person. The beach remains quite natural, offering a peaceful atmosphere along with various entertainment options and a great souvenir center. The view is stunning, and the place is incredibly clean, making it an ideal spot for relaxation. The accessibility is good, although some of the roads leading to the beach can be narrow and winding, it's still manageable with a private vehicle. At Pantai Drini, visitors can enjoy the view of two different sides of the beach. On the east side, the waves are calm, making it perfect for activities like exploring coral reefs, hiking up the cliffs, or renting a canoe. On the west side, the waves are a bit higher. The available food stalls also serve fresh seafood. This place is perfect for both families and solo travelers. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy nature and some fun activities by the beach!

Drini Beach is located in Gunung Kidul. It's a place where fishermen gather to catch fish, which they then sell fresh. Like other beaches, Drini Beach has its own canoeing area, unlike other beaches. There are plenty of affordable food stalls with friendly service. I recommend this beach for tourists who are bored with just playing in the water and taking photos, as it offers canoeing.
REGINA K — Google review
The best time to enjoy the beach is in the morning before 9 a.m. it offers canoeing, which is quite safe for children and adults
Rima W — Google review
The beach was exceptionally clean. Remember to apply sunscreen and bring an umbrella for shade. I particularly enjoyed the beach because it offers calm waters without strong waves. This makes it safe for swimming, provided you stay within a reasonable distance from the shore. There are plenty of picturesque spots perfect for photography. Additionally, you can discover crabs, fish, and various sea creatures along the shore.
Qoriyana N — Google review
This beach is nice, suitable for families, the sunset view in the afternoon is good for taking pictures. Complete beach facilities such as prayer rooms, gazebos, toilets, etc. There are stalls selling various types of sea fish such as sea shells, squid, grouper, etc.
Arsya H — Google review
It's a two-hour drive from Yogyakarta through some mountain and jungle road and some villages. The beach was very clean. What's unique about this beach is that there is a small coral island in the middle of the sea, accessible by bridge. You have to pay 5k IDR to pass the bridge. From that island you can have a nice and beautiful view to the layer of mountains surrounding the beach.
Nicholas K — Google review
Two beaches are not so big, one beach is towards the open sea and the other one is more like lagoon for canoeing exercise. Plenty beach umbrellas but for a fee for those sensitive to sunlight. Food can be slightly expensive though. Beach is free entrance and pay for your parked vehicle.

I was on this beach so many times and it's really nice if you are very early there to enjoy and have a swim but if you are coming after 10 in the morning be ready to have lots of people, selfie sticks going around you🫨🤦 and all the magic of the place disappear...

The first time i went here with a friend and a year later I took my family here. The beach is super clean and worth the 2 hour travel to get there from the city. The waves can get a bit bigger around 4 pm so please be careful, the entry ticket Is pretty affordable as well as the canoes, snorkles and life jackets.

I was here with my family. We had so much fun. The kids were happy playing with the sand and the waves, so yeah it's kid-friendly. And we the adults enjoyed swimming and snorkeling. Pantai Sadranan is a perfect beach for family fun time. Small waves, white sand and corals. You can go snorkeling to. It is located in Gunung Kidul, roughly 2 hour-drive from Yogyakarta. Snorkeling gear rental with instructor is available. Extra fee for underwater photos and videos. Kayaking can also be another activity that you can do. Photographers are everywhere to help you taking beautiful family photos with affordable fee. The foods are also delicious on a standard price. Everything is affordable. Come and visit, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

It's a nice place to hang out with friends. The beach is clean and beautiful. A little bit too far from Yogyakarta, but it will be worth the trip. You’ll see a gorgeous scenery.
Alvinadiraharja — Google review
Around 2017 when I was in 9th grade, I visited this beach during the school tour. The road to the beach is uphill and winding because it is located in the highland. The beach is far from the main street so if you want to visit this beach, you should go using your vehicle like a car or motorbike, or you can ride the local transportation called ojek (motorcycle taxi). This beach is not as famous as Parangtritis but the view is much better than Parangtritis beach, in my opinion. The beach is surrounded by hills because it is located in the highland, the sand is still white, and the water is still as clear as a crystal. You can also rent snorkeling equipment if you want to see the underwater creatures. There are a lot of small shops and restaurants here if you want to avoid the sunny and hot weather, and most of the shops and restaurants have rest room and praying room for the visitors. Although the scenery is beautiful, there were not much visitors at this beach, so it is the best place for you if you want to relieve the stress by seeing such a beautiful view. Overall, this beach is a perfect destination for holiday. Even though it is far from the center of Yogyakarta, it worth the wait. The scenery is amazing, the price for foods and drinks is normal, and the local guides are really nice and helpful.

Beautiful location. Cosy small beech coves. Rooms and cottages available. Restaurants and seafood. Peaceful relaxing. Snorkling close to beech for kids. Sunset and sunrise. Perfect weekend unwind. All along this coast all small beaches which are close to each other so if one go to the next. Only thing to to remember there is no beer.

Been here for family vacation. The beach is nice and clean, however the sea-current was quite hard, so you should be extra-careful especially when you bring children there. The locals is also very nice and helpful. The food and service was normal (in term of pricing). However, the location was quite far from Yogyakarta, it's about 2-hours driving thru the local winding road, but with nice scenery. Highly Recommended.

Timang Beach is a popular destination in the Gunung Kidul area, just an hour away from Yogyakarta. The beach offers white sand and is known for its unique attractions such as an island connected to the mainland by a rope bridge and a cable car. Visitors can enjoy local snacks at the numerous stalls along the beach and indulge in fresh seafood at nearby restaurants.
Breathtaking beach front, you can admire the scenic wave formations and headlands along the area. There is also a cart and bridge where you can cross onto a stack in the sea to take lovely photos. Overall a great place to chill 😎 out and just relax.

I’m from Malaysia, and this is my first time visiting Yogyakarta. My trip to Pantai Timang was an adventurous experience, as you have to go there by jeep. The beach has beautiful scenery, and the breeze is very calming. Crossing the bridge and riding the gondola was a bit scary, but it was a great experience. I recommend bringing a raincoat because the waves can be really big.
Assaidah A — Google review
Fun ride in a Suzuki Jimny along a rocky hilly track to get there. You have to pay to go across a rope bridge to the small island. But it’s worth it, your guide is an excellent photographer with your smart phone and will get you some great photos
Dan B — Google review
Went there after my trip to Jomblang Cave. The scenery was amazing. You need to be careful with splashes though even though you are high above sea level, so do prepare spare clothes and protect your photography equipments just in case you are not fortunate. The jeep ride down the beach was exciting and fun as well.
Yoong Y — Google review
It took us about 2 hours from our hotel in Kaliurang, plus another 15 minutes by Jeep through bumpy terrain—a fun little adventure on its own. The view from the cliff is absolutely stunning. The waves were strong, and the sea spray could get intense, so don’t expect to stay dry—bring spare clothes or footwear. The gondola is hand-powered, but the team running it takes safety seriously and guides everyone carefully. Even our 70-year-old parent, who didn’t plan to cross, ended up giving it a go. Some of us are scared of heights, but we all enjoyed the ride—it’s a one-of-a-kind experience. One gondola can fit up to 3 people (2 adults and 1 kid), but it can feel a bit tight—especially for the person sitting at the back. Once across, you can explore freely, but stay cautious—you’re standing on a cliff above rough waters. The 360 views are incredible. Easily one of the most unforgettable parts of our Jogja trip.
Ferdi — Google review
Astounding view! A must visit if you love the beach. The gondola price quite affordable i think. Totally worth the penny spent! The ride to the beach was adventurous. The ride itself was fun. The workers of the gondola are super fun and they took marvelous pictures of you.

❎ Australia ✅ Indonesia On our way to the beach, locals stopped and informed us that we need to use a jeep in order to access the beach. We were skeptical if we really need to visit the beach but turns out it was so worth it! The jeep ride was rough but once we were at the beach, the view was really nice. Watching the waves was also really calming. We hired a jeep that costs 350k for 5 people. Crossing the bridge costs 100k per person for locals, but you should definitely go for it. Both the jeep rental and bridge ticket includes a guide who can help with taking pictures. No additional fee for the guide but we gave them a tip at the end :)

Sundak Beach is a serene and beautiful destination in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It boasts white sand, clear waters, and strong waves perfect for surfing. The beach is surrounded by exotic limestone hills and coral reefs. Legend has it that the beach got its name from a local myth. Despite being a bit secluded, it offers a peaceful atmosphere with vendors selling seafood and souvenirs.
A memorable beach , clean, beautiful, and calm. A gazebo is available for rent (30k for the small one and 50k for the bigger one which is integrated with the food stall).
Frandika P — Google review
Spend the night here, there are many cheap and clean inns and the beach has waves that are far from the shore so that children can play without fear of big waves.
Rosid A — Google review
This is probably the most beautiful beach I’ve ever found. And the accommodations and food are very cheap in this area. The hard part is getting there, as there are not grabs or Gojeks available in here. But if you find a local with a scooter or a car you might be able to hitch a ride.

The beach is beutiful with white sand and some coral reef with some small coral fishes, you can also catch the fishes so bring a net. The Gazebo are not free, you have to pay Rp 30.000 IDR for 1 Gazebo.

My overview for sundak beach ⭐ Scenery: 4.7/5 – The sunset at Sundak Beach is truly breathtaking. As the sun sets, the sky turns into a beautiful blend of orange, pink, and purple, creating a magical view. The soft white sand and gentle waves make it a perfect place to relax. ⭐ Cleanliness: 3.8/5 – Unfortunately, there is still some litter in certain areas. Visitors should be more mindful and help keep the beach clean. Overall, Sundak Beach is a great destination for sunset lovers. There are also a few visitors camping, so it seems like a possible spot for an overnight stay.

I visited this place for the first time with my family when i was just a little kid. I came here several times since then with my friends. When I was in college I studied marine biology and did some research in Sundak Beach. It has a beatiful view and it was suitable for recreation place.

Nice place to chill and spend a night or two (note that beach side aircon luxury hotels don't exist here). But if you can enjoy a cheap room with an electric fan, then you can treat yourself to a room with a beautiful cliff side view and a chance of sunset and/or sunrise. The place can be a little dirty and packed on the weekends (especially payday weekends).

The beach is known for its exotic natural beauty and stunning sunset views. Visitors can find a Hindu temple perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea, reminiscent of Uluwatu in Bali.

It's a Bali wannabe place, with temple and other statues in place. Really crowded with tourist wearing rented Balinese traditional costume during the visit. The paid toilet is well maintained and costly since it is privately owned by the warung owner. It is suggested to come during dry season since the location is quite a distance from Yogyakarta and the road is quite tricky. Though it provides beautiful view along the way.
Menis P — Google review
The beaches are beautiful, but be mindful that there is a huge crowd of tourists in big buses, cars, and the road is in traffic, the parking lot is so crowded, everything moves slowly. And by the beach, thousands of people. They make the temple and rent the clothes for tourists to take pictures, that makes the place even more chaotic. If you want to find a quiet and serene place to see the nature, this is not a good idea to visit at weekend.

it's a beautiful beach in Yogyakarta (42 kilometers from the city). in other side, I lost my signal over there. you need a transportation to go there because there's no public transportation since the place is so far.

I usually come here before the other beach nearby called Ngrenehan. This place has architectural influence from the Hinduism. The view to the beach from the cliff is great. Now they have artificial boat also there for taking photo direction to the beach view. I took these photos at 5 am, so it might look dark. 😁

Love this beach! Not so crowded! So many amazing spot views! Located about an hour from the city center. Pretty easy to follow the google maps. Kinda Bali vibes but in Yogyakarta! Definitely will come back! There’s one “Pura” which already build about 25 years ago and still be used to pray. There’s not so many options for having lunch. Make sure you bring your meals box or simple move to another beaches nearby!

Loved this pantai there was a lot of space to relax and enjoy the nature. There is area where you can get in the water but be vary careful as the current can be difficult to negotiate most times. There are a lot of vendors selling food and mats that make it very easy to just show up and relax

Pok Tunggal Beach has a beautiful and clean environment, the sea water is still clear, thick white sand is free of rubbish. This beach overlooks the Indonesian ocean with fairly high waves and is surrounded by beautiful coral hills. The beach location can be reached in about 2 hours from the city of Jogjakarta through hilly and coral views.

Bit speechless about this place, because this beach have awesome landscape view. I came at 5am and still dark.. Hoping I can shoot best light in the morning.. 😁, but nature has different way hahaha so cloudy there. I came to one of traditional coffee shop, after order I saw a man directly approach to our coffee shop from the beach bring an octopus and some fish. The owner of coffee shop says.. Hai.. What would you like to order from those fresh fish.. Hahaha to early for me for heavy breakfast .. I asking her there is other sight from the beach? She said : you have to move up to that hill.. Wewwwwww 🤦‍♂ hahaha closed enough but going up is.... 🤣🤣 Then we going up and taking lots of picture.. Till the cloud more dark. So this place is so quite place, not to crowded, average clean.. So fun in this beach. So if you stay in Jogjakarta.. Please stop by to pok tunggal beach..

Entrance ticket 10k per person and retribution fee 10k per tent. You can also pay a photografer 3k / photos for capturing your moment! Bright sand and easy small kids. The parking space is directly at the beach for 10.000 IDR No interesting food in the resto’s only instant meal. But they have usually fresh coconut water. There are shower and toilet facilities around 5.000 IDR. Some dark and dirty, some really clean ones with day light. When flooded it is possible to swim upfront. When the water in the afternoon goes away it remains a pool easy to roam for small non swimming kids. Don’t leave the kids unattended, there might be bigger waves that come in unexpected. In the afternoon you can walk on the coral/stones “platform” that shows up stuffed with bright green seaweed on the surface to be able to reach the big rock. Very “instagramable” 😊 Not too crowded even on holidays.

Indrayanti Beach, located in Yogyakarta, is a beautiful and serene destination known for its golden sandy shores and crystal-clear waters. The beach offers a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for relaxing, swimming, or enjoying the view. Surrounded by rugged cliffs, it feels more secluded compared to other beaches in the area. The beach is well-maintained, with plenty of facilities like cafes and sunbeds for a comfortable visit. Though it can get busy on weekends, Indrayanti remains a lovely spot for those seeking a tranquil coastal escape with stunning natural beauty. Around the beach there are many restaurants with prices that are still quite affordable for local tourists. However, public toilets and shower rooms for rinsing seem to need to be improved in terms of cleanliness.

There was an entrance fee but you get to explore a lot of beaches in one location, but there will be parking fee for each beach! Indrayanti beach was so beautiful, it was clean with white sand. I came here in the morning and the sea level was still high so it wasn’t safe to swim, but it got lower as the sun got up. The beach was tilted so it wasn’t really great to play frisbee. There was a bathroom nearby and you can use it with a fee: 5k to wash up, 3k to do the business, 2k to leak. There was also a restaurant with fresh fishes that just got caught. Many selection of food and beverages too.

The best part was the sunset. The sky changed so many colors with 15 minute and it was one of the most beautiful sunsets I've seen. There were no forienge tourists as well so a neat local find. My recent escape to Pantai Ngerumput was a serene revelation, and I'm eager to paint a vivid picture of this coastal haven on Google Maps! The coastal vegetation adds a touch of green to the golden landscape, creating a picturesque backdrop that's perfect for a leisurely stroll or a moment of introspection. The charm of Pantai Ngerumput is not just in its natural beauty but also in its simplicity. No bustling crowds or flashy attractions, just the pure, unspoiled beauty of the beach waiting to be discovered. In conclusion, Pantai Ngerumput is a coastal sanctuary for those seeking solace in nature's embrace. Whether you're a beachcomber, a sunset enthusiast, or simply in search of a tranquil escape, this hidden gem has it all. Dadap Ayam Beach is a small beach flanked by two coral hills on the right and left. It features clean white sand on the east side and rocky formations on the west. Below the hills, algae-covered rocks and seaweed can be found. Local residents are involved in salt processing around the area. Accessing the beach may be a bit challenging, especially after rain or during high waves. There are no clear directions to reach it, so asking locals for guidance is necessary.

Motorbikes/cars can actually enter, but are usually directed to park at the Ngobaran beach parking lot. The road is small, still rocky, the beach is not too wide, still clean and not crowded with visitors, suitable for those of you who like a quiet atmosphere, dominated by coral rocks with green seaweed, there are lots of small fish and sea urchins/sea urchins, the sandy area is small, but enough to rest and enjoy the beauty of this beach. PrAmbAnAn,
Best time to go is after noon and watch the sun cast soft shadows on the relief during sundown. It is less crowded than Borobudur because the temple structures are spread out with lots of open spaces in between. There are also many smaller but magnificent Buddhist structures on the temple grounds worth visiting. I had the pleasure of sitting on ancient stones, with the soft sun behind me on the western side of the main Prambanan temple and just soaking up this historical monument. It took me 33 years from first learning about it in university to actually setting foot here to see it. I am very impressed by all the work they are putting in to conserve and preserve this beautiful UNESCO heritage site. Even though a foreigner entrance ticket costs 8x more than a domestic ticket, it is worth every rupiah! Some domestic visitors were not too careful about the stone relief though. I saw one man use his umbrella to point and hit on the stone relief. 😞 Hope better education and supervision can be given on site by heritage staff.

Prambanan Temple is absolutely stunning and a must-visit when in Yogyakarta! The temple complex is vast and beautifully preserved, with incredible stone carvings and towering structures that tell ancient stories from Hindu mythology. Walking around the site feels like stepping back in time. The architecture is breathtaking, especially when you catch it at sunrise or sunset — the lighting makes the temple even more majestic. The area is well-maintained, and there are helpful signs explaining the history. It can get quite hot during the day, so I recommend visiting early in the morning or late afternoon. Definitely worth the visit — both for history lovers and anyone who appreciates incredible cultural landmarks!

If you ever visited Angkor Wat, you may skipped it. Don’t know who and how made that comparison, but comparing Prambanan to Angkor Wat is like comparing Yogjakarta to Singapore. Definitely overpriced, as all tourists attractions in Indonesia (that’s the „advantage”of being foreigner - you’re forced to paid 8-10 times more than locals). Crowded. If you finally get there, please make sure to visit other temples: Lumbung, Bubrah and Sewu (imho most impressive than Prambanan). Looks like plenty of reconstruction works around, so maybe in 10 years there will be more impressive buildings. As it’s kind of Javanese temple’s tradition, exit is through neverending maze of shops with some really stubborn sellers. Luckily we’re there for sunset time, and while leaving complex we matches time of closure of this market.

Visiting Prambanan Temple is like stepping back in time to witness the grandeur of Indonesia’s rich Hindu and Buddhist heritage. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is not only an architectural marvel but also one of the most accessible and tourist-friendly attractions in Central Java. Accessibility & Tour Guides: The temple complex is conveniently located about 17 km from Yogyakarta city center, and it’s easily reachable by car, motorbike, or public transport. If you're coming from the airport, it's just a short ride. Upon arrival, you’ll find the entrance very organized with ticket counters for domestic and international visitors. What really enhances the experience is the availability of licensed tour guides. They are friendly, multilingual (English, Bahasa Indonesia, and sometimes other languages), and extremely knowledgeable. Guided tours are highly recommended to understand the deep symbolism, mythology, and history behind the temple reliefs and structures. Parking Lots & Entry Process: The parking area is spacious and well-managed, accommodating both private cars and tour buses. There’s a separate area for motorbikes, and everything is within walking distance to the entrance gate. The entry process is smooth, and staff are helpful, maintaining a good flow even during busy hours. Facilities: The facilities are excellent for a historical site of this scale. There are clean restrooms, shaded seating areas, and refreshment stalls near the entrance and inside the complex. You’ll also find a souvenir market selling everything from traditional batik to wooden crafts and mini Prambanan replicas — perfect for gifts. There's even a small museum near the complex that provides more background about the site's excavation and restoration efforts. The Temple Grounds: The temple complex itself is vast and immaculately maintained. The main temples dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma stand proudly in the center, surrounded by smaller shrines and ruins that speak volumes about ancient Javanese Hindu civilization. Visitors are allowed to walk into several of the temples, and the carvings are remarkably well-preserved. Be sure to wear comfortable footwear and bring a hat or umbrella as it can get quite hot during midday. Bonus Tip: Come early in the morning or around sunset to avoid the crowds and get the best lighting for photos. For a truly magical experience, consider watching the Ramayana Ballet at the nearby open-air theatre in the evening — with the temples as a backdrop, it's an unforgettable performance. Conclusion: Prambanan Temple is not just a tourist site — it’s a spiritual, educational, and visual journey that impresses every visitor. Whether you’re a history buff, a photographer, or just someone looking to appreciate world heritage, Prambanan delivers on all fronts. A must-visit when in Yogyakarta!

Prambanan Temple is a breathtaking historical and holy place for Hinduism. It is the largest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia and one of the most beautiful in the world. The site consists of temples dedicated to the Hindu trinity—Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva—each showcasing incredible stone carvings and detailed reliefs that tell stories from the Ramayana and Mahabharata. you can really feel the spiritual atmosphere and admire the architectural mastery of the 9th century. It’s not only a place of worship but also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Indonesia. And if you get the chance, the Ramayana Ballet performance held nearby adds a cultural experience you won’t forget. Truly a must-visit destination for history lovers and culture enthusiasts!

I visited Prambanan during a day-trip with a private driver. He had already bought my entry ticket in advance. Unlike Borobudur, you can explore Prambanan by yourself. However, I recommend paying the 150k/hour to get a guide. My guide was so much fun and was very knowledgeable about the history of the site as well as all of the religious aspects. The only thing that bothered me during my visit was the lack of shaded areas from the heat, and the small black pebbles that krept under my feet constantly.
Ilse E — Google review
Prambanan Temple is an absolute masterpiece—easily one of the most awe-inspiring historical sites in Indonesia. The four temples included in the ticket are breathtaking, each showcasing intricate architecture and deep cultural significance. We took our time exploring, stopping often to admire the grandeur and reflect on the centuries of history carved into the stones. The experience itself is fantastic, whether you rush through in an hour or take three to truly absorb it all (which is definitely the way to go). Every structure feels powerful, demanding appreciation and respect. We also had lunch inside, and the food was surprisingly good, making the visit even more enjoyable. That said, the ticket price for international visitors—at 500k rupiah—is definitely steep, especially considering it's ten times higher than the local price. It knocks the rating down slightly, but overall, Prambanan is still a must-visit, deserving a solid 9/10. If you can look past the pricing, the experience itself is worth every moment.

Taman Sari, also known as the Taman Sari Water Castle, is a historical site located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Built in the 18th century by Sultan Hamengkubuwono, it served as a royal garden and retreat for the Sultan of Yogyakarta. The complex features ornate bathing pools, pavilions, and waterways designed for relaxation and meditation.
We visited this palace which has pools and water features. There are many photo worthy spots here although the steps going from one section to another are pretty steep. We enjoyed our visit here.

I visited Taman Sari Tourist Village and found it really interesting to walk around. The old bathing pools and underground passages give you a glimpse of the history and culture of Yogyakarta. The surrounding village is also fun to explore with small shops and local people selling crafts. It is not a huge site but it is unique and worth a visit if you are already near the palace.
Lydia C — Google review
We visited Taman Sari Royal Garden because we were looking for a place that was open that day — it was my second to the last day in Yogyakarta, and unfortunately, the palace itself was closed. I’m glad we ended up here though, because it turned out to be a really unique and memorable experience. It wasn’t too crowded when we went — there were a mix of locals and foreigners, and the atmosphere felt calm and pleasant. The sun was very hot outside, but once you go inside the chambers and passageways of the garden, it becomes surprisingly cool. Each section feels like a hidden corner full of history and charm. What stood out to me most were the many small pathways and exits all around the garden. There seems to be only one main entrance, but several exits lead into nearby residential areas or small alleys that connect to local streets. It really gives you a sense of how this place once functioned as a living, breathing royal space — private, mysterious, and full of life. Even though the structures are old, you can still imagine how stunning it must have been at its peak — with the pools, gardens, and chambers in their full glory. It’s one of those places that lets you step back in time and feel part of Yogyakarta’s royal history. A truly cool and fascinating place to explore — peaceful, historical, and worth the visit.

I have no regrets about visiting this historical site, even with the crazy heat in Jogja that day. It definitely still needs ongoing maintenance and preservation. Taman Sari was the Sultan's / King’s former water castle/bathhouse, I can only imagine how grand and cool this place was back then. Entrance is 25K.

Taman Sari (often called the Water Castle) is one of Yogyakarta's most popular and historically fascinating tourist destinations. Taman Sari Water Castle: Taman Sari, which means "fragrant garden," is a beautiful and unique former royal garden and leisure complex of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta, built in the 18th century. It is known for unique architecture, photo opportunities, and historical atmosphere. The Vibe & Highlights Architectural Beauty:The complex is a striking blend of Javanese, Islamic, and European architectural styles. The most stunning and well-preserved section is the central bathing complex. The Royal Pools (Umbul Binangun): This is the main attraction. It features three dazzling blue pools—one for the Princesses, one for the Queens, and a secluded one for the Sultan. A watchtower sits between the pools, from which the Sultan reportedly chose a consort as they bathed below. The Underground Mosque (Sumur Gumuling): This unique, circular two-story mosque is hidden underground and accessed via an Escher-esque set of stairways. Its design creates unique acoustics that allow the imam's voice to be heard clearly without a microphone. This is a favorite spot for photos. The Kampung Taman Village: The complex is nested within a charming, traditional Javanese residential neighborhood (Kampung Taman). Exploring the narrow alleyways offers a glimpse into local life, including small shops selling traditional arts like batik. Location :Located just a short distance (approx. 2 km) south of the Kraton (Sultan's Palace). Opening Hours :Generally open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily. Entrance Fee (Foreigners) Approximately IDR 25,000 (Indonesian Rupiah). Estimated Visit: Time 30 minutes to 1 hour, plus time to explore the surrounding village. Getting There: Easily reached via becak (pedicab), andong (horse cart), or ride-hailing services (e.g., Grab). Best Tips for Your Visit 1. Hire a Guide (with caution): Local guides are available and highly recommended, as they can provide fascinating historical context and mystical stories that bring the ruins to life. However, a common traveler tip is to be aware that some guides may be insistent about taking you to a family batik or craft shop afterward. 2. Explore the Tunnels:Don't just stay in the main pool area. Ask locals or your guide to point you toward the entrance to the underground tunnels and the Gumuling Well. 3. Dress Modestly:As a cultural and former royal site, dressing respectfully (avoiding overly short or revealing clothes) is appreciated. 4. Combine with the Kraton:Taman Sari makes a perfect half-day excursion when combined with a visit to the nearby Kraton (Sultan's Palace).

I visited Taman Sari today and the place itself is truly magnificent, beautiful architecture with a long, fascinating history behind it. Unfortunately, my experience with the local guide was disappointing. He charged me 90k IDR (and I gave him 100k instead ) for a tour that felt incomplete. Instead of exploring all areas, he only took me around the outside, rushed through everything (finished the tour in 30 minutes), and explained so quickly that I couldn’t really understand much. Sadly, it made my first visit here feel less enjoyable than I expected.
Grace L — Google review
A historical place with guides for hire. They don't charge an amount of fee, you get to determine it. Along the tour, I couldn't help but imagine how things were back in those days. We even went to the ruins of the castle hidden among the villagers' houses.
Kalista S — Google review
Taman Sari, nestled in a charming neighborhood, offers a fascinating look into Yogyakarta's royal past. This "Water Castle" complex, though undeniably small-scale and showing minimal recent maintenance, possesses a unique appeal. The entrance fee is low, making it an accessible historical site. A delightful aspect is the freedom to climb atop some of the remaining gate structures, providing interesting views. Guides are present, but be prepared: ours, while informative and willing to take photos, was quite insistent on leading us to his shop afterward. We ultimately "escaped" through the gates, which made for a memorable, if slightly comical, end to our visit! Despite its modest size and condition, Taman Sari's unique charm and the freedom to explore make it a worthwhile stop for those seeking a less polished, more adventurous historical experience.

Ancient palace complex dated back to 8th century. Located up in a hill, the area are pretty big, you can still see the entrace gate, fort, hall, bath pool (carved in a stone), stupa, etc. The ambiance is very nice and relaxing, especially in the afternoon to sunset time.

Located in the eastern part of Yogyakarta, Ratu Boko is a great family-friendly destination to enjoy the sunset. The area is spacious, hilly, and surrounded by lush greenery, offering a calm and relaxing atmosphere. I recommend visiting around 3–4 PM when the weather is pleasant and not too hot. I visited with international friends, about the ticket price is quite affordable for locals, though a bit expensive for international visitors. It’s best to get the bundled ticket that includes access to Borobudur or Prambanan temples for better value. Overall, if you’re visiting Yogyakarta and looking for a peaceful temple with fewer crowds, Ratu Boko is definitely worth considering.

Ratu Boko Palace is such a cool place to visit, especially in the late afternoon. It’s up on a hill, so you get this amazing view of Yogyakarta and even Prambanan Temple in the distance. But the real star? The sunset—absolutely stunning! One of the best I’ve ever seen. The vibes here are super chill. It's quiet, peaceful, and has that ancient, mystical feel. Great spot for taking epic photos too! Entrance fee is a bit on the higher side, but honestly, totally worth it for the views and the experience. Pro tip: Get there around 4 PM, bring a bottle of water, and don’t forget your camera or phone—you’ll want to capture that sunset magic!

Throwback to 2023, still amazed by the beauty in the simplicity of Candi Ratu Boko. This temple isn’t so grand, but it has such a mesmerizing aura. It's located on higher ground, so the atmosphere feels cool and refreshing. The walking paths toward the temple are well-arranged, with green lawns that make the scenery even more soothing. I was lucky to visit during sunset hour, so the view was truly breathtaking. Calm, serene, and memorable. I'd love to come again if I could. It’s absolutely worth a visit for its charm and magical sunset vibes.

Bought the ticket via traveloka, just teeny tiny bit cheaper than ots ticket. Got a good walk around the area. Got there around 4.15 pm. Walked around for almost an hour and rest by the main Gapura to look at the sun setting, was cloudy though. We just sat there by the grass. But some people brought picnic mat/blanket. There's musholla near the main Gapura, and also i think there's another one by the locket? Not sure about the 2nd one, but there's a sign near it. Oh. By the locket there's brochure about the site.

The traditional market in the center of Yogya city, seems to be the oldest market in Yogya. Many stalls are neatly lined up and the traders are friendly. Sells various types of clothing and batik cloth with various motifs. The clothes sold are mostly women's clothes. Prices are also not too high and can be negotiated. If you want there is a lot of culinary delights, some have to queue. Many women sell satay and many also buy it. Maintenance and cleanliness are moderate. Enjoy the photos.

Located in the heart of Malioboro street, this market is mostly dominated by batik shops. You can find a wide array of batik outfits, including dresses, pajamas, shorts, blazers, and skirts, with various prices. Some items can be bargained, and some have a fixed price. Most of the prices are reasonable. The building itself is well-maintained, and the entrance is really captivating with its old-style colonial architecture.

... this market is a part of Malioboro that's a shame to miss. It's a center of economic activity for hundreds of years, and its existence holds philosophical significance. This market, which has been renovated many times, symbolizes a stage in human life that is still focused on meeting economic needs. Satay restaurant
Sate Klathak Pak Pong Pusat is a renowned satay restaurant located in Bantul, Yogyakarta. It has gained popularity for its specialty lamb satay, known as sate klathak, which is served with broth instead of the usual sweet soy or peanut sauce. In addition to their signature dish, the restaurant also offers other delicious options such as beef curry, tengkleng, tongseng, and tripe curry.
A round trip by taxi from the city costs about 110,000 rupiah. If two people order 4 kinds, the taxi fare and the food cost are similar. It is satay that you cannot eat in the city. I recommend you try it at least once. It is a pity that there is no public transportation. All the staff are friendly and the meat is fresh.

Nice place to get some satay. The satay is soft and juicy. I dont smell pungent aroma from the meat. Its soft smell and nice. But if you came to here when holiday season you must wait little longer than regular day. Its pack of people here
Banuaji P — Google review
Sate available like you can't get in the city. Very popular place because of this and all sate made fresh to order which you can watch yourself. Because of this, don't expect anything to be quick. Restaurant not too busy and still took over an hour for food to come. If you are in a rush I would not recommend otherwise do make sure you try it!

Sate Klathak Pak Pong is one of the famous lamb satay in Yogyakarta. Since I'm not a fan of lamb, I could say that I'm not fond of this one. The place is spacious, even they have 2 dining areas across the street. They don't provide AC, but it is fully covered by canopy. The specialty is definitely Sate Klathak, a long, tender, and meaty lamb satay with savory gravy and sweet soy sauce. If you're not a fan of lamb, you'll still find a slight lamb aroma in the satay. We also tried their Nasgor Ayam (Chicken Fried Rice). A simple frier rice with chicken, fried egg, and pickles. The fried rice was too sweet for me. Sorry, but this one doesn't suit my taste 🥲
Feliciana X — Google review
The parking is spacious. The service is friendly, but it's quite a wait. Food wise... It's ok. The meat is tender and the spices are well engrain in the meat. Though, there's a slight lamb smell on the lamb satay. The "otak-otak" which you can order for appetizer is magnificent! It's a must to have them if you dine here.
Dian A — Google review
Tried the famous Sate Klathak Pak Pong. The meat was tender, juicy, and perfectly grilled on skewers, with a simple seasoning that really let the flavor of the goat shine. The gulai was also rich and tasty, making it a great combo. But be prepared the waiting time for the food was quite long, and the location is a bit far from the city center. Still, it’s one of those Jogja culinary icons that’s worth trying at least once.

Earting satay in hell - waiting for one hour in a very hot placel - it is really frustrating We are really regretting to come far away to this place Food is not special, just common satay We wonder why people are fond of eating in this place. The way they serve food is really too long. Some people like hell - on the photo 👇

As one of the people who learned about rocks in college, I really like visiting this location. The big rocks were shown up in the surface with beautiful color gradation and shapes. The local government successfully created this outcrop to be one of the tourism destination closed to Yogyakarta. It took me around 50 minutes driving here using a motorcycle. In the big rock, they also modified it so we could go to the top of the outcrop. They created a stair that let us go to the top of the outcrop. Not only the stairs, but we would find the top part is filled with many places to take pictures as well as the supported equipment, such as the love signs as background, tea pot as accessories and many others. You could go here with friends or family. Recommended place to visit.

Ijo Temple is a hilltop complex of 9th-century Hindu temples located on terraces, offering stunning views of the surrounding farmland. The main temple faces west and is accompanied by three smaller temples, with a Shiva temple in the middle featuring Nandini bulls, the mounts of Shiva. Visitors recommend arriving around 4:30 pm to witness the sunset, although fog and clouds may obstruct the view.
Candi Ijo is a hidden gem near Yogyakarta. The temple complex is smaller and less crowded than Borobudur or Prambanan, offering a peaceful atmosphere to admire ancient Hindu architecture. The climb to the top is relatively easy, and the panoramic vista of green fields and cityscapes is absolutely worth it—especially at sunset. However facilities are minimal (bring water and sun protection), but the lack of crowds makes it a serene escape. Entry is affordable, and the surrounding cliffs add a dramatic touch. Candi Ijo is a must if you already visited Tebing Breksi and Obelix Hills

A well preserved and beautiful temple an hour from the Jogja town center. We got here pretty late after stuck in a massive jam due to heavy rain pour. So there isn’t any sunset to view due to the cloudy dark sky. Despite of that, we enjoyed this temple as the air was crisp with mist and there was nobody else except the 2 of us! The temple still in good shape and standing tall on top of hill overlooking jogja. The view from the temple was magnificent. It would be magical if it was a clear day. I hope to visit this place again on a sunny day!

Museum Sonobudoyo Unit I is a must-visit Indonesian cultural-history museum located in Yogyakarta. It showcases a wide array of artifacts including masks, weapons, batik, music instruments, and puppets from Javanese and Balinese culture. Visitors can also witness a special leather puppet show accompanied by traditional Javanese Gamelan music and language every evening.
Stepping into this museum is like walking onto a dimly lit stage—spotlights pick out every relic, and the hush plus moody lighting immediately sucks you into Javanese culture. I walked in expecting a handful of old instruments and kebaya mannequins, but instead got this immersive vibe where each room tells its own story. You’ve got a full-on Javanese wedding setup, racks of animal figurines and statues, walls covered in crazy-detailed batik motifs, plus traditional weapons that look straight out of an epic film. Want more? Rent a kebaya and hire an in-house photographer for those Insta moments, then head to the separate interactive wing where you can actually touch, try, and play with select exhibits. Seriously, this isn’t your average dusty museum—it’s hands-down one of the most memorable cultural trips in Jogja.

This museum is an excellent place to explore and learn about the rich and diverse culture of Java. It offers a comprehensive look into various aspects of Javanese heritage — from the intricate art of batik, showcasing different patterns and techniques, to an impressive collection of wayang (traditional puppets) that reflect the region’s storytelling traditions. You can also learn about local customs, rituals, and traditional clothing. The displays are well-organized and informative, making it a great spot for both tourists and locals who want to deepen their understanding of Javanese culture. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Loved this museum - it had a great selection of cultural items, plenty of explanations in English and lots of fun interactive ways of displaying the pieces. There’s even games and VR on the fifth floor! The AC was appreciated, and it was definitely worth the 20,000k fee (for foreigners). I spent about 90 minutes here Staff were super friendly and helpful too.

It was a very fun experience!! You can get a tour guide for free if you show them your ticket and there's someone available to do it🙏🏼 The live video (the one about Damarwulan and Sumbu Filosofi) didn't have an English subtitles so it's a bit to bad for the international tourist who can't understand it. But otherwise everything is translated very well❤️ the interactive part is also very fun (there's an arrow shooting VR and gamelan game).

Nature & Parks
Sri Gethuk Waterfall is a picturesque natural wonder nestled amidst forests and limestone cliffs, making it a popular spot for swimming. Although it's the most famous, there are numerous other waterfalls in the hilly countryside around Jogja. The waterfall is located on the edge of a long and wide river cliff, requiring visitors to walk approximately 700 meters along the river to reach its source. Accessing the foot of the waterfall involves walking through rice fields or taking a boat ride.
I had a lot of fun in here. Its not the best waterfall, but its still enjoyable, even in the summer the water is still good.
Nicky M — Google review
Alright, but not a must-visit. The views are pretty, and it is rather quiet and uncrowded - which is a nice combination. The walk from the carpark is maybe about 10 to 15 minutes (slightly tiring, but not difficult), and that is followed by a ride on a makeshift raft for another 10 minutes before we get to the waterfall. Along the walk there are some small stalls which look like they are run by some of the families that live nearby, and who sell some simple and unexpensive snacks and drinks. Might be a good idea to purchase a couple of small items from them to support their efforts to earn an honest living. Have to pay for entrance and the raft ride, the combination of which makes things slightly pricey, but not ridiculously so. Heard from our guide though, that this is supposed to be a public place and the collection of entrance fees is done by a group of unregulated local thugs who do nothing for the upkeep of the place - was not able to independently verify if this is accurate.
Melvin L — Google review
"Not recommended as a destination until they address their management issues. Several incidents during my visit left me frustrated. Firstly, the cost: there are options to reach the waterfall either by walking or by boat. Opting for the boat requires a payment of Rp. 10,000 per person for a round trip. The problem arose when, after paying for six people, the boat left us stranded during our return trip. Despite waiting for an hour, it did not return, prompting us to walk back to the entrance. Another issue concerns the area near the waterfall. Besides the main waterfall, there is a small path leading to the river. Intrigued by the sight of a foreigner and a tour guide walking the path, my friends and I decided to follow. Excitement turned to disappointment when the tour guide yelled at us, insisting it was a forbidden area unsuitable for tourism. When questioned about a foreigner being allowed, he simply stated the foreigner was with him. Only later did we notice a sign on a tree indicating the boundaries of a play area, which we hadn't seen initially as the tour guide casually walked there. Subsequently, they even crossed the river and played in the area. Lastly, in addition to the unpleasant events, I advise against visiting during the rainy season. The river becomes dirty and murky, making swimming unappealing."
Ahmad P — Google review
Lovely place to have a swim and it's a bit off the beaten track so pretty quiet when I went midweek. 25k for entry, 20k to swim in the river (you need to have a lifejacket) Not sure about the boat, as I walked and it only takes about ten minutes. It's mostly downhill, so a bit trickier going back up!
Jethro P — Google review
The waterfall is so beautiful, and the surrounding area is also very calming. Although I think the waterfall area is not large enough to accommodate many people, so be aware when you visit it during the weekend. Entry ticket is affordable, and the parking area for both car and motorcycle are available. The road not so good at some point, so please be careful.
Rey W — Google review
One of the easiest accesible waterfall in jogja region. From the parking lot to the waterfall only took about 10 minutes walk + boat ride of 10 thousand (June 2019), you can challenge yourself to walk towards the waterfall, but I chose the easy way. It was in the dry season when I went here, but the water flowed quite a lot (I wasn't expecting this). You can opt to swim on the river near the waterfall but it is very cold (it was around 11am). This site provided a good exposure for you who wanted to see and feel the sensation of being in a waterfall. There are no toilets near to the waterfall, but quite a lot near the parking area or near the food vendors. Squat toilet and clean water are available.

Kalasan Temple, or Candi Kalasan, is a stunning 8th-century Buddhist temple nestled in Sambirejo Village near Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This architectural gem is dedicated to the goddess Tara and showcases exquisite carvings that reflect its rich history during the Syailendra dynasty. Although some parts of the temple are in ruins due to missing stones, its intricate details still captivate visitors. Unlike the bustling Prambanan nearby, Kalasan offers a serene atmosphere for sightseeing and photography enthusiasts.
Kalasan Temple (Candi Kalasan) is an 8th-century Buddhist temple located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, renowned for its intricate carvings and unique architectural style. Dedicated to the goddess Tara, it is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Central Java and is believed to have been built during the Syailendra dynasty. The temple was rediscovered during the colonial period, with initial documentation in the 19th century, followed by partial restoration efforts in the early 20th century. However, due to the lack of detailed records or drawings of the original structure, many ornamental stones and fragments could not be placed back in their original positions, leaving parts of the temple on the ground.

Quiet n probably entrance free temple, if you come around 3 to 4pm. I wasn't asked to pay as I could just walk in to witness this amazing candi. One side was under construction though. It's relatively similar temple to the temples in the area so if you have limitedtime, its 50/50 choice of visiting or skipping.

At the moment it’s being restored thus it is covered in scaffold… One should wait until the scaffold is taken down as you cannot see much of the temple… But at least it’s an attempt to restore to its former glory… I’m sure that once this work is completed, this will be a five star location… If you’re still interested, you can pass by but access is limited…

A beautiful temple, it's smaller than other big complex temple like borobudur or prambanan, but still a cool place to visit but unfortunately at february 2018 we cant enter the temple because of previous earthquake so they will renovate it in 2018. It's quite close from yogya and close to prambanan temple. The temple is side to side with local houses, the people at the ticket box is friendly and he will answer your questions about this temple but there's also a board that contain explanation about the temple. It's located near the high way but it's a quite quiet place and we can get a good picture here, the ticket box open till 5 p.m. in the afternoon people start to visit the temple maybe at 3 p.m. people start coming because the sun isnt so hot anymore, but the entrance from the road is quite small and the parking lot is also small, the accesss to enter the area of the temple is quite hard for a big bus or big vehicle.

Titik Nol Kilometer Yogyakarta is a vibrant hub that captures the essence of this historic city. Nestled at the end of Malioboro Street, near the iconic Tugu Monument and surrounded by charming old buildings, it serves as a lively intersection where culture and community converge. This spot is perfect for leisurely strolls, especially on weekdays when you can soak in the atmosphere without the weekend crowds. The area buzzes with life, offering glimpses of local festivals and traditional markets nearby.
This iconic landmark isn’t just a point on the map – it’s where your unforgettable Yogyakarta adventure truly begins! Surrounded by majestic colonial buildings, buzzing street performances, and vibrant local life, the Kilometer Zero area is the perfect blend of the old and the new. By day, it’s a cultural hub; by night, it transforms into a lively gathering place filled with music, lights, and laughter.
Wisnu H — Google review
Titik Nol Kilometer is not just a landmark—it's the symbolic center of Yogyakarta. The area is always lively, with street performers, food vendors, and a great view of Malioboro nearby. A bit crowded on weekends, but worth visiting for the cultural experience. Don’t forget to snap a photo!
SIVAPRASAD B — Google review
Walking around Titik Nol is super chill and perfect for slowing down. The sidewalks are wide and clean, so it’s easy to just stroll and breathe in the fresh air, especially in the morning when it’s calm and not crowded. You can even kick back on some benches and enjoy the old-school vibes mixed with the busy city feel. The area’s got some cool old Dutch buildings like the Main Post Office, BNI 1946, and Vredeburg Fort Museum, which makes the walk feel pretty special. Plus, it’s close to Malioboro, Beringharjo Market, and the North Square, so you can easily make a fun walking route and soak up the friendly, laid-back Yogyakarta vibe.
Prisca M — Google review
One of the most iconic public spaces I visited during my trip to Yogyakarta was Titik Nol Kilometer, also known as the Zero Kilometer Point. Located in the heart of the city near Fort Vredeburg and the Yogyakarta Palace, this spot holds both symbolic and historical value. It marks the city’s official center, often used as a reference point for distance calculations and civic gatherings. Although the area itself is just a small section of road, the atmosphere surrounding Titik Nol KM is culturally vibrant and deeply rooted in Javanese identity. During the day, visitors can observe the colonial architecture that lines the streets—such as the old post office, Bank Indonesia building, and heritage landmarks that reflect the city's colonial past. However, it is during the evening that the place truly comes alive. The sidewalks are filled with local street performers, including musicians, dancers, and theatrical artists. The pedestrian area becomes a hub for social interaction, photography, and casual sightseeing. What stood out to me was the sense of openness and freedom, where locals and tourists alike gather peacefully, often participating in spontaneous artistic activities. Facilities like public seating, street lighting, and trash bins were adequate, though some parts could benefit from better maintenance. Traffic control could also be improved to ensure pedestrian safety, especially during peak hours. In conclusion, Titik Nol KM is more than just a geographic marker—it’s a living, breathing part of Yogyakarta’s cultural soul. It offers visitors an authentic glimpse into the city’s artistic spirit and communal energy.

Pantai Jogan, located in Tepus District, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, is a rare gem with a waterfall cascading directly into the ocean. Nestled behind karst hills, this oceanfront destination offers a breathtaking sight. Visitors can admire the waterfall from a viewing platform and explore a cave beneath it. However, swimming in the bay is not recommended. The area also features food shops and clean toilets for visitors' convenience.
The Jogan (Njogan) Beach in Tepus District, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region is unique because it has a waterfall from a cliff flowing down to a beautiful little bay with a cave, but bathing at the bay is not recommended. Visitors can go down into the cave behind the waterfall (but it's not free), either through a ladder or by rappelling/abseiling through the waterfall. There are food shops and clean toilets. The path from the main road to the site still needs to be improved.

Its a beautiful and clean beach, the authorities really take care this beach, you can also see a cave, and waterfall right on it. The range of price is around 15.000 - 35.000. I have a nice time right there. They have a nice guide and will offer to help taking your picture, they won't charge you, but don't forget to always pay the entry to every spot you want to go. Have fun~~ p.s: the road is a bit rough, but it's okay for bike and car to go through.
Kireina N — Google review
The place is small but the view is amazing! The water was crystal clear with smell of sea water. On normal days you can see a waterfall falling down to the sea. But since there was a big wave hit the rock the other day, the waterfall was closed. The sad thing is, there are still trashes here and there. 🙄 The road we take, took around 1-2 hours with car from city.

This beach become special cos there is waterfall will flow to the sea.but so sad when i came to this beach is dry season. The waterfall is so small. Many villagers use the river for the padi field. There is cave in this beach too. U can go inside and got another view of this beach.

The place is great, the view is good for photography. But the river near the beach isn't healthy (it's dirty with some water-plants. But you can pass it with a wooden bridge on top of it (and it's safe)

Jungwok Beach, located in the Gunung Kidul Regency of the Yogyakarta Special Region in Indonesia, is a wind-prone shoreline known for its crystal-clear waters and clean surroundings. It is a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts and lobster-fishing activities. Visitors can also take boat rides to a nearby coral island. Although the road to reach this beach may be challenging, travelers are rewarded with stunning views of the clear waters and high waves.
The way to get here was quite hard as the road isn't well established yet. But, your tiredness will instantly pay off by its beautiful view. The beach still in a good and natural environment so you can see some little fish in there. The water is so clear. Pretty beach and ocean for sure.

Pantai Watu Lumbung is a newly discovered gem located near Pantai Wediombo in Yogyakarta. Accessible via two different routes, the beach boasts unique coral formations and a rugged road that adds to its allure. Visitors can enjoy stunning coastal views from a round stage with steps or opt for a motorcycle ride to reach the destination.
This beach is the best beach I've ever visited in Yogyakarta Region. Although the road was very rough and the route was also not easy, the breathtaking views of the beach and coastal lines pay off. You can visit this place by motorcycle only because I think it is not accessible for cars (or it is but might be dangerous). There are toilet and food stalls too. The views are very great. You can take pictures as many as you can. I paid only Rp 7.000 to enjoy this beach (including the parking fee for my motorcycle). Please visit this stunning beach when you have time.

if you wanna go here just prepare your motor bike, using car is not recommended because the road was so really bad. the best thing i ever know if there are people camp here, store will not close, they open for 24 hours you cant buy a coffee in the middle of the night. when night comes some people will fishing here, until morning comes. you will not get a good sunrise here, nut you will get beautiful sunset from the top of the hill. if you camp here, the wind is not strong but the wave will get bigger in the night, and the place is about scary in the night.

A beautiful secluded beach (situated south-east of wonosari) where you can enjoy an unspoiled view. Yet, you have to do a bit tracking to get to this place. And to reach the beach, a long walk on a winding path is necessary. Never think of visiting this beach if you don't have a good stamina 😉
Aurea Y — Google review
Awesome place, but you have to try as hard as you can to get there, access the cobbled and muddy roads, the internet signal does not exist, the tracking tracks are steep and slippery, but when you get to this place you will love the fusion of waterfalls, river, beaches, its waterblow, hill, and corals are very charming,

Watu Lumbung Beach is a new attraction not so far from the popular Wediombo Beach, Girisubo District, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region. From the main road from Wonosari to Wediombo, take a turn to a narrow village path about 200 m long which is paved partially with a two-way concrete block. You can stop at the parking lot and enjoy the seaside view from a round stage with steps. Otherwise you can walk or hire a motorbike drive (ojek) for Rp 20,000.- to go 200 m down a steep road to the water. Friendly staff. An "emergency" toilet and musholla (moslem prayer room) can be used for a donation.

The white-sand beach is located in Gunungkidul Regency with all the beautiful sights from many sides. My favorite one is from a gazebo above the "rock island" close from the coastline. You can see another cliffs and get your sight more farther like water and sky are touched. Blue and higher waves is the another reasons why I more comfortable enjoy this view in height, because we can't get wet or swimming at coastline for safety purpose. At the shore I didn't found much waste like another beaches that I've visited before, it makes +1 why I love this place.
Romi H — Google review
The sky and the sea are very clear up here. They encase the beautiful view that lure everyone so we would be amazed with the nature.. We came here during the office time back then, therefore it seems quiet in these photos. We can also enjoy the breeze drifting on by the rocks and it's so relaxing! Perfect place for refreshing our mind.

Kukup Beach is probably no stranger to the people of Jogja. It’s one of the more popular local spots for a beach getaway. What makes this beach stand out is a huge coral rock sitting right near the shore. Honestly, it’s so big it almost looks like a two-story house—you could even call it a mini island. The waves here aren’t too strong, so it’s relatively safe to play near the water. But do be careful—the rocks can get pretty slippery. Facilities? Pretty complete. There are toilets, showers, and lots of small shops along the path to the beach. If you ever visit, don’t forget to grab some souvenirs from the local stalls—most of them sell delicious seafood-based products. Oh, and don’t miss the hill right next to the beach! There’s a well-made concrete staircase leading up, and the view from the top is absolutely worth it. 📸 Like this kind of local travel vibe? Came here on vacation and it was very busy and crowded. Honestly, I didn't expect there's a beach in a mountainous area, the view was really good! if you walk 30 meters to the right there's another photo spot but be careful of the waves. Around the beach, there are many stalls and shops selling souvenirs as well. There's also a family villa on the hill before entering the beach area.

Lovely, clean beach. There is a lot of coral-like flat so that when the tide is right you can wade out far and see a lot of life hiding in the tide-water. Beautiful cliffs as well. A little busy, even on a Monday, but not too much.

Pantai Parangkusumo, located in Yogyakarta, is a sacred black sand beach known for its cleanliness and stunning sunset views. It offers fresh seafood and other marine catches in a coastal restaurant ambiance. The beach is famous for its unique black sand and the breathtaking sunset that can be enjoyed there. Visitors are advised to be cautious of the waves, as they can be strong at times.
Next to Parangtritis, this beach has spectacular sunset overview the Indian ocean. A must visit beach in Yogyakarta aside of Parangtritis. Many local eatery also, unlike Bali the reastaurants and bars mostly located by the beach so the guests can enjoy food while watching the sunset, this place only has local food stall a bit further outside the beach. But it has beautiful sunset nevertheless

Visiting last year when they held kite festivals. The beach is wide and strategic. It's a little bit crowded at the weekend.
Annida U — Google review
At that time I went to Parangkusumo beach with friends, the beach was nice and clean, the sunset was also beautiful. There were also many people playing kites and there were also places to sit like huts. Although the journey from the city of Jogja is far but for such a good beach view it is worth it. I highly recommend this beach as a vacation spot.
Irene A — Google review
There's something about the southern sea that always feels like it washes away the noise in my head. Pantai Parangkusumo isn't just a stretch of sand and waves, it's a pause button in the middle of city's chaos. From the city center, it's not that far, just a pleasant drive away, the kind that gives you time to breathe but not long enough to lose your excitement. The road access is easy, smooth, and somehow feels like it's guiding you toward calmness. Every time I come here, my ritual never changes: stop by one of those small seaside warung, order Indomie goreng, some gorengan, and a hot cup of tea. Sometimes, life can be that simple and with prices that still feel local, it's the kind of comfort that makes you want to come back again and again. The southern beach air hits different, strong waves, salty breeze, and a serenity that speaks straight to your body, mind, and soul. I still have one tiny wish left: to stay overnight at a nearby hotel and walk to the beach in the morning, barefoot, unhurried. Because maybe, happiness isn't about how far you travel... but how deeply you let yourself feel the moment.
Lapansonindra L — Google review
Considered as sacred beach in Yogyakarta, this black sand beach is cleaner compared to the Parangtritis Beach. The sunset here is amazing and unbeatable, sooo pretty! Watch out to the waves, sometimes it is bigger and could drown you to the sea. Near to the beach, there is one historical site, Cepuri Parangkusumo where believed as the meeting point of Panembahan Senopati & Kanjeng Ratu Kidul centuries ago. Keep clean the beach, everyone!
Khairul A — Google review
awesome place for sunset, the sun reflection is like a mystical mirror and that will add dramatic effect. Also the coast is not just flat, there's a cliff and that breaks the flatness

Black sand beach and the scenery during sunset is totally to die for! The best TIME TO GO FOR A PHOTO IS DURING SUNSET!! Lot's of stalls and also goodies store. Parking for bikes 3k usually each. There is also man made swimming pool which I think the price range is 5k-10k. There will be a crowded side of the beach with many attraction like photo services, horse riding etc and they will be an empty side with less people and no distractions. Changing room is available for 3-5k and also there is separate place to wash legs for 3-4k.

White coral sandy beach caters to young and oldies. A lovely strech with 1 side with coral area - safe for small children to swim and have a bath and the other side for good wavy beach. It can cater all level of age - bear in mind that walking in deep sand is quite tiring for some old people. Access road from main road is quite bumpy rocky one. 700m to reach the beach may need extra caution driving as the road is not asphalt one but rather rocky and cemented pavement. Be careful and you'll be fine. I drove odyssey and it required a very very very extra slow drive. Parking is easy and will not require far walking to the front beach. For cars, it is 5K IDR. Eating stalls are available for few vendors, public toilets as well praying area. Cabanas are available but rather far from the water. Bring your own beach chairs or beach mat for max enjoyment. You can access all up to the big rock for taking some good pictures - add access may cost you no harm. You can camp here. Bring your own or rent a tent for 50K. Else - there are some villas to rent. Overall - a recommended spot.

Best place to camp is at the corner of the beach because car was parked right behind our tents and it was surrounded by trees where we hangs our hammock. Camp utilities are rented, and the tents were built before our arrival so it’s very much convenient. Toilet using were free upon camping rentals. It also the closest to a walkway to neighborhood beach (pantai Drini) that offers much more activities like paddling, canoeing and sunbathing. They provide umbrellas and gazebos for rent. Located in the main street in jalan kaliurang, accross from Pizza Hut. Opens at 7 on monday to saturday. They accept take out too. You can notice it from the main street. They also serve tea and orange water.

I loved this place so much, because the food tastes very good and the price is affordable♡

You can choose the topping: chicken, lamb, and beef. You can also add an egg. The broth is very tasty, the coconut milk and herbs & spices are mixed really well. Don't forget to add "sambal ijo". It bring the taste to another level, even though it may be too spicy for some people. The price is Rp. 13,000-14,000 (yes, only $1), add Rp. 3,000 for the egg. Open from 7 AM

Gebang Temple is a small but significant Hindu temple located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Believed to have been built in the 8th or 9th century during the early Mataram Kingdom period, the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Unlike the grander temples in the region, Gebang stands out for its simplicity and well-preserved condition. The temple features a single main structure with minimal ornamentation, showcasing the early phase of Central Javanese temple architecture. Hidden within a quiet neighborhood, it offers a peaceful atmosphere and a glimpse into ancient Javanese spirituality.

One of the best places to visit if you taking interest in this kind of thing. Ticket: Free (If you just alone or with small group). I mean the security said that if you have no event (like school trip) it is free. Otherwise it is Rp: 5K for local and Rp: 10K for foreigner There is small toilets in the south east corner of the area. Recommend to visit this temple around 6 PM so you will catch its vibe and the weather not so hot to visit. Short Story Gebang (Indonesian: Candi Gebang) is an 8th-century Hindu temple located on the outskirts of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The temple is located at Gebang hamlet, Wedomartani village, Ngemplak, Sleman, Yogyakarta. The temple was built during the Medang Kingdom. There is no assuring historical backgrounds or inscription records concerning the temple. However the high proportional of the temple feet indicate that the temple was built in old period of Medang Mataram kingdom, c. 730 to 800.

You just need to pay at least Rp.2000 for park and Rp.3000 for entrance fee. So cheap. You can see the Ganesha statue over there. You can't come inside the temple but you can pray in front of the statue (for Hindu and the believers).
