Chinese restaurant
Restaurant
Chinatown Restaurant Glasgow is a laid-back dining spot that offers a wide range of dim sum favorites and traditional Chinese dishes. The restaurant provides an authentic Chinese culinary experience with its carefully crafted menu featuring steamed, deep-fried, and pan-fried dim sum, Cheung fun, cold platters, soup noodles, fried noodles, rice dishes, and other specialties.
Haven't been here for many years. It was good to come back here. Brought my friend here today. By far the best dim sums. We thoroughly enjoyed every dim sums and Chinese jasmine tea. Definitely coming back again.
Irene Y — Google review
Good spot to go if you’re looking for Cantonese dim sum. We got a few classics dishes to share and food was pretty good. Highlights for me were the siu mai, savoury meat croquettes and Cheung fun. Price is a bit high I think. Also it’s cash only.
Hazel F — Google review
Our first meal in Scotland wasn’t what you’d expect—but it turned out to be unforgettable. After a bit of research, we landed at what looked like a truly authentic Chinese restaurant tucked into the city of Glasgow. And let me tell you—it delivered. We ordered a spread: hot & sour soup, mixed roast duck, pork belly, BBQ pork, fried rice, dim sum, and Chinese cabbage with garlic sauce. Everything was excellent. The roast duck stood out most—moist, flavorful, and beautifully roasted. The cabbage still had a crisp bite to it, and the garlic sauce struck a perfect balance. Even the fried rice, something often overlooked, was aromatic and distinct. From start to finish, it was a delicious and satisfying beginning to our time in Scotland. Not the traditional haggis or meat pie… but no regrets here. 🥢

It was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night but I think this place is always busiest at lunch times and on Sundays. We booked a set menu for my son's 30th birthday after having a great experience last year when we had a large banquet here for my daughter's wedding eve. This time we opted for suckling pig (birthday boy is a true carnivore) & aromatic crispy duck which both arrived as "starters". Next we had lemon chicken, fillet steak in black bean, chicken satay, sea bass, steamed vegetables, rice, noodles and of course chips for the boys 🤣! Everything was wonderful! We were served copious amounts of Chinese tea which was so refreshing and cleansing. We had brought a cake but after the mains they brought out orange segments to refresh our palate and they were much welcomed. Food & service were fantastic. Price was excellent and we will definitely be back.
DeJayne — Google review
Whether it is Sunday Dim Sum for lunch or dinner this remains the best Chinese restaurant in Glasgow by far. The menu has new innovative additions which is well worth trying and prices remain reasonable. Do expect the final bill to be on par with the likes of Wagamama for a family of 4 ordering a few starter/mains. Overall, still very good value for money.
Anthony C — Google review
Good food and fab choice. Pity about the china woman selling illegal fake fags at the doorway of the mall with her team of runners bringing her the fake fags when an order is made. Reported to relevant authorities trading standards and police. If u see it call trading standards

Quiet and authentic cuisines for someone looking for a proper chinese meals. We had fish in oil szecheung style, tofu clay pot and mixed meat bbq and also take away for pork intestine and pickled vegetables with egg fried rice. Staffs were friendly and really had a great experience for a proper meal.
Su Z — Google review
I’ve been here for dinner for the first time after my sister recommended to give it a try. The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived and I was already doubting about the food. We ordered a steamed sea bass, a baked king prawns with salt and chili, a beef in black pepper sauce, a fried rice, two soups and a side dish. The food was quite good and so the quality of the ingredients. I really liked the beef and the king prawns. Service was friendly and the bill was fair considering what we had. I’ll come to try the dim sum next time

It was a family gathering and food was amazing. We ordered 5 types of dim sums and separate main dishes. All of them are really good. Price was bit high but worth every penny.

Food was decent if you are craving for Chinese / Asian cuisine in Glasgow badly. We ordered the hot and sour soup, sweet and sour pork, stir fried broccoli and yam rice - would highly recommend getting the yam rice it was really fragrant and I believed they might have use glutinous rice. Service was good too with the FOHs helping to clear the plates on time.
Angie K — Google review
Only one Chinese Restaurant in Scotland holds a Rosette award so we had to check it out. We had a wide selection of food, everything hit the spot! Hand wrapped dim sum is not to be missed. They are also one of the few Chinese restaurants that have a separate Gluten Free menu. See our full video review on our experience under The Olive Tree Family on all social media platforms.
The F — Google review
Everything was ok, but not amazing. I don’t feel the experience matches the price; the food was good but not memorable considering it’s £22-32 for a main + rice/noodles. The server took my order, then another server came and again asked for the order, but neither server asked at any point whether everything is ok. I ordered what should be the spiciest dish; it wasn’t spicy (except a couple of slices of chilli). The £12 cocktail tasted only of cheap tequila. Portions were not large, especially the rice at £3.80 (surely it costs them almost nothing to give you more rice). There is no ambiance at all, it could be any small-town cafe or restaurant. Sadly I won’t be going back.

Every time I come to Glasgow visiting my sister we come here for dinner. Food is very delicious, especially the dim sum. This time I tried as main the monk fish cooked in the claypot and it was very good! Fish was very tender. I recommend to take also the ribs with plum sauce, it’s so good! The service is good, they always pay attention to take away empty dishes and pass by to refill water.

Had a really nice meal here. Extensive vegetarian options which is great. Had the aubergine clay pot and it was amazing. Staff are super lovely and the place has a really nice cozy vibe. Edit: came back and had a really lovely time again, had lovely meals and the drinks were great too! Would recommend the Shanghai tofu, sweet potato dumplings and braised pork!
Skye T — Google review
Been a while since last ate here. Came Thursday lunchtime, v quiet ( we were the only ones in). It has retained its relaxed ambiance and staff are v helpful. The food was excellent ( best in Glasgow imo). The stand out for us were the salt n chilli ribs, soft shell crab & aubergine tofu hot pot ( but the crab chive dim sum was delicious too). Not cheap (£54 ) but given the quality , we would highly recommend this , particularly for a special occasion
Graham O — Google review
Hadn't been to the restaurant in about 4 years and had totally forgotten how good it was! Amazing food, full of flavour and great selection of dishes to choose from. Staff were great and very attentive. We ordered quite a few dishes as there was so much we wanted to try, everything was delicious. My beef fillet main was 👌

Delicious food with wonderful service. We came here on a whim and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, the attentiveness of the staff and the variety and choices of food. We went for prawn toast, salt and pepper fries, calamari and the sizzling filet steaks. Everything was delicious, good quality and fresh. The cocktails were delicious too! Definitely recommend for a romantic date night

Solid Asian restaurant- an absolute crowd pleaser. The menu is diverse & appetizing, the service is fast & efficient, the ambiance is upscale & lively. Definitely head over for your next Asian food date night.

The food was delicious! Staff was very friendly and the service of cocktails and food was also very fast. Highly recommended! The tables however are placed very close to one another so you can hardly have a private conversation, luckily the food came very fast.

We enjoyed a lovely meal after it was recommended by a friend. There was a good selection of food which was all tasty and well presented. Lots of staff who were busy, friendly and attentative.

Outstanding food. Don't miss the Hong Kong sweet and sour chicken and spare ribs. And, the service is wonderful. Friendly, fast, and attentive. We'll be back soon!

Simply outstanding, fast service and I mean fast, service was great made to feel really welcome but the real star of the show was the food. I need to come back here again.

We took advantage of the 2 course set menu before 6.45 offer after being recommended by a local. Small, dark busy restaurant with fantastic food and cocktails. Would love to visit again and dine off the normal menu which had some interesting options. Service was quick and efficient

Absolute top marks for having a gluten-free menu. My coeliac husband hadn't had a Chinese meal out since he got his diagnosis 13 years ago and was absolutely delighted with his dish and with the amount of choice. They also gave us the GF menu automatically (we mentioned it on the booking) and it was nice not having to go through the usual 20 questions. Unfortunately I was a bit underwhelmed with my dish. I'd ordered chicken with cloud fungus and red beancurd sauce, everything was cooked beautifully but I just found it a bit lacking in flavour. Maybe it's just horses for courses - I like really punchy flavours. When I'm not dining out with a coeliac, I'll be going back to China Blue - their flavours were amazing. Oh, and watch out for the booking system. It only seems to let you book for a party of two or four. I was trying for ages to book for three of us and it just wouldn't let us choose any dates.

Went in myself for dinner around 7.40pm on a Tuesday. Didn't book. Nice welcome, menu, asked what drinks I wanted. Ordered vegetable spring rolls and chicken curry with chips. Minutes later a bowl of prawn crackers and 2 dips arrived. Meal was lovely. Couldn't fault it. Will be back.

Absolutely beautiful place and loved the food and service!! All was great, I had Satay chicken and my boyfriend had the garlic and plum duck. We both enjoyed our meal so much and we wished we had room for pudding but unfortunately our bellies were quite a bit full. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting to go out for a date night!!

Myself and party of 27 visited this restaurant on Saturday 26th April 2025. We couldn't have been treated any better, the service was first class. Easily one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve ever visited. The staff were genuinely lovely, and the food was absolutely spot delicious. We only ended up going thanks to a recommendation from a fellow motorhomer at the caravan site - and I’m so glad we did.

First time going here after a long drive through the loch Lomond national park. Myself and my friend sat in the restaurant for dinner. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, the service was great and food was top notch! If I'm ever in the Balloch area again I'll definitely be visiting again, also they provide a takeaway service if you don't want to eat in.

Amazing food and service. Went here as nice and close to the Lomond Wood holiday park. Greeted straight away when we arrived by an amazing waitress who delivered the best customer service we have had in a long time. She was great throughout and you could tell she was just naturally great at her job rather than the fake see customer service you get in most restaurants. Wasn’t too busy and not a huge restaurant so during peak season I’d suggest booking. Great menu choice typical of what you would expect. Definitely something available for all tastes and fussy eaters. Each dish we ordered was lovely although the spring roll starters were 4 small rolls and lacked much filling. The main courses by contrast were the best we have ever had. I had the mixed satay skewers which were absolutely stunning and could have eaten them 100 times over. The crispy chilly chicken had a fair kick but was also delicious. The restaurant had a lovely modern feel and was spotlessly clean. Would highly recommend here for excellent food and service and look forward to going back.

Dim Sum Restaurant is a Cantonese-inspired restaurant that specialises in homemade small bites served in small bamboo baskets.
Today, we had the pleasure of dining at this Chinese restaurant, and the experience was excellent in every way. The food was amazing, made with fresh ingredients and served impeccably. The sauces were particularly delicious, and the noodles were spectacular—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive to our needs, even with two kids, which is not always a given. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained, and the service was incredibly fast—our dishes arrived within minutes, flawlessly prepared. A truly positive experience that we highly recommend to anyone looking to enjoy great Chinese cuisine with top-notch service. We will definitely be back!

We popped in without reservation, got seated straight away. Amazing, calming atmosphere with soothing music in the background. Volume was perfect to blend in, but still allow you to talk freely with others at the table. Food was absolutely amazing, so was waiting stuff. Make sure you get dessert too! Caramelised bananas and spongecake are definitely worth it 👌

My friend and I had such a lovely experience at this restaurant! From the moment we walked in, the staff were so warm and friendly – it honestly felt like we were having dinner at someone’s home. The food was absolutely amazing – full of flavour and beautifully explained to us as it was served, which made it feel extra special. Their cocktails were also delicious, and the service throughout was so helpful and kind. We’ll definitely be coming back, and I’ll be recommending it to all my friends! Very reasonably priced.

5 stars all round! Quickly seated as soon as we walked in by lovely polite staff. Very zen, autism and family friendly, environment with quiet peaceful background music. For a pleasant dining experience. Very reasonably priced, excellent, high quality and delicious range of various authentic and westernised cuisine. Perfect portion sizes, but be adventurous and try a selection. You won't want to miss out! The cocktails pack a punch! Kindly, they provide water with each of these for that reason. Great value for money. We were about £70 for 2. Great for all occasions and party sizes. We visited twice in the same week and would return again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend. Will be back soon. Great restaurant!

Had a lovely dinner at Dim Sum with my wife — charming atmosphere, attentive service, and the dumplings were absolutely delicious. A perfect spot for a cosy evening out.

Beautiful place and really good service. But i had the worst Dim Sum ever ( and I had them 5 times in the last month). tried the mixed steamed and only 1/5 type was edible. The purple was even cold almost frozen inside. I actually left all type and told them did not enjoy. The fried rice was decent. But what a waste of money

Firstly the food all tasted lovely however I knocked two stars off the food due to the amount of fat on the brisket dish I ordered. The attached photo shows the fat pieces I removed from my dish. Date of meal was Saturday 23rd August.

Went in for a lunchtime meal with my dad. So many great options for veggies and pescatarians. A detailed but easy to navigate menu. We ordered a three sides and two mains (we were full for the rest of the day!). Service was prompt and friendly; initially they brought the wrong main but it was quickly replaced without fuss. Food was so delicious! Will be back.

Don’t understand all the recent negative reviews. Have been coming to Dumpling Monkey for years and went again today, the food is consistently good. Comes out quickly and is always hot and fresh. The restaurant environment is very casual and you order at the till, so I don’t know what people are expecting! but the food is very reasonably priced and delicious. Would recommend to anyone!

We stopped by while making our way home for some take away. The food was ready extremely quickly! It was still warm when we arrived home. The pricing? Excellent! Honestly, value for money! I definitely recommend this if you want to have a chill night at home and collect some food on your way.

Perfect place to go and have a quick, cheap and tasty meal with friends. Service might not be as good but the food makes up for it

gone downhill! Think dumpling wrappers as thick as cornish pastry, stuffed with frozen peas, carrots and sweetcorn 🤢. tasteless broth and overall under seasoned!

Don’t really leave bad reviews but I group ordered a Tom Yam Seafood Soup Noodle on uber eats. I was expecting king prawns, mussels, squid, etc… as per the description. My food arrives with noodles, some vegetables, the broth, and NONE of the above. Hopefully the uber driver didn’t eat them himself and leave me with the rest. Really disappointed.
KaarthiJ — Google review
Food is tasty and good value for money. I ordered the beef flank udon and whilst the broth was very flavourful, the beef itself was mostly just the fatty parts and very little actual beef. The restaurant itself is cramped and has stools which are a bit uncomfortable. Staff aren't the friendliest but I would still recommend it due to the food which is nice
Johann G — Google review
OK so the food is not good. Don’t get me wrong - I know it’s a cheap and cheerful but I don’t understand the reputation. Stodgy dumplings. Smacked cucumber salad that had spent way way too long in its marinade and bitingly cold from the fridge. Dan Dan noodles with literally water for stock - I had to dump in half the chilli oil pot and soya. I didnt expect miracles as it’s a cheap place but it has a great reputation. I wasn’t expecting the finest Chinese but overdone noodles in every dish - that can de sorted by any level of establishment…
Kate C — Google review
Very basic, reasonably priced, very popular restaurant. Tonight’s food was good, without being able to say why I feel I have enjoyed it better on previous occasions. At my table and others there were mistakes and omissions with the orders. During my visit a large JUST EAT box was gradually filled with numerous home delivery orders. Obviously some people would be waiting a long time for their home delivery. (Faults lie with Just Eat and not the restaurant imho) Given what I saw would I order a home delivery from this restaurant? NO. Will I return to this restaurant? YES.

Loon Fung Cantonese Restaurant is a bi-level establishment featuring four luxurious function suites and karaoke rooms available for hire. The restaurant offers a wide range of dining options, including handmade Dim Sum. The friendly staff are known for guiding patrons through the menu, which includes dishes such as barbecued duck, deep-fried wontons with prawns, pork with jellyfish, and king prawn with salted egg.
A favourite amongst the Chinese community in Glasgow for 5 decades! We have lost count on how many time we have been here. They do authentic cantonese food and hand made dim sum. See our full video review on our experience under The Olive Tree Family on all social media platforms.

Good food. Lots of tables available. Good for both small and big groups. A variety of chinese dish to choose from and wont break the bank. The wonton soup was really good. The spicy chicken strips were a bit salty but other dish such as aubergine garlic were of good quality. Generous serving too. Fast and efficient service from staff. Not all wait staff speak English but they would call in those who are more fluent in English to communicate with us if there is anything we need. Toilet was clean but had a funny smell. All in all - food, atmosphere, staff were great!

Authentic! The food was fresh, flavourful, every dish tasted authentic and perfectly cooked. The staff were friendly and welcoming, making us feel comfortable right away. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing, great for both family dinners and casual nights out. Highly recommend! We’ll definitely be coming back.

Absolutely delicious! It is unbeatable – generous portions, beautiful decor, and the food is totally worth making a special trip to Glasgow for 🥰 Sadly, we missed out on the dim sum since we came during dinner time – but that just gives us a reason to come back! 😋 💰Total spent: £74

This is a great restaurant in the heart of Glasgow. Would be perfect for solo dinners through to big groups. The staff are really friendly and happy to help. We were in after 5 and enjoyed the pre theatre menu. I had the sweet and sour and it was great. I tried the chicken feet but must admit it wasn't for me. I'd definitely recommend this place for the atmosphere, service and food (just not the feet lol).
Graeme L — Google review
Great Authentic cuisine, the best Dim Sum in Glasgow 👌 it is quite pricy for some items but considering the preparation taken to make it great quality I really do advise it. If u want to taste what it's like in Hong Kong go here. I really recommend the lobster in ginger and spring onion and the three roast meats.
The 6 — Google review
Authentic Chinese, probably the only one in Glasgow. Dim sum was fresh and the roast meats were properly roasted not like the local takeaways with the food colouring. Good quality and extensive menu. The inside was way bigger than expected. Don’t be fooled by the exterior it’s a nice restaurant and local Chinese do eat here :) I would come again for the custard tarts unfortunately it’s only Sunday - Tuesdays and pre-order or you’ll be disappointed
Coco L — Google review
Placed an order via Deliveroo. Order stuffed smashed prawn with 3 kind vegs cost £19.50 hardly see the minced prawn need to use magnifying glasses to find where is the minced prawn, not enough sauce and too oily too. Another dish is Tong Choi with shrimp paste ( water spinach )over cooked too soft not crunchy at all even my granny without a teeth still able to eat it and also to much oil. Overall, extremely disappointed.

It’s definitely worth venturing down the long hallway and up the stairs to the dining room. Really genuine authentic flavors. One of the better wine list for an Asian restaurant in town nice to see. Very friendly and attentive service, dining room could use a little update.

Reasonably priced food. Authentic Chinese food! I know this is random but we always love to order the Thai style crispy chicken dish there it’s awesome! 4 main dishes with rice and tea for only 18£ per pax (5 of us ate together) and food was good portion too!

Delicious and authentic Chinese food in Glasgow area. Came back again after our first visit. We especially like the 梅菜扣肉 (pork with salted vegetable) which was marinated well and not too salty. The roasted duck 烧鸭 was good too, although it was sold out when we came the first time. The service staff were also very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for Chinese food in central Glasgow.

(Update 2024-05: Beware dishes labelled with a green (V) may not actually be vegetarian when served, especially when you have a table of meat and non meat eaters. Manager gave the excuse of “do any of you not eat meat” and “you should have let us know when you ordered”, though eventually apologised and gave us half price off that one dish.) Was here for dinner with relatives on a Sunday evening. Not the most fancy atmosphere, but appeared cleanish. Food wise, so far this is one of the best in the city centre and I can't believe I've gone past it so many times without giving the place a thought, the entrance is so unassuming. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor, you do need to climb a flight of stairs to reach the place. Would recommend the Tofu with Chinese Leaf & Glass Noodles (146), which they apparently use their own egg tofu. The sauce for the Mixed Vegetables with Malaysian Curry (224) was out-of-this-world, but I wasn't much of a fan with the vegetables used (my relatives liked them though). We did find the side portion of stir fried noodles far too salty, though this was the only downfall for the food. They did get one of our orders wrong (despite naming it and pointing it at the menu when ordering) and later claimed not to be in a position to correct it. Whatever arrived looked nice and a lot cheaper so we just let it go. Service was friendly, helpful, but a little clumsy.

This is an ideally good place. I went with my friends, and we first took refilled drinks before getting food ( you have to inform staff 1st ) They offer a variety of cuisines, including Chinese, Indian, Italian, pizza, pasta, rice, and many dessert options. For kids, they have half-price deals. We had a great time there, and I will definitely go again because it's worth the price. However, make sure to go on an empty stomach; otherwise, it’s not worth it.

Lots of food choices, including Chinese cuisine, Indian cuisine, Canton-style dishes, sushi, and more. I have to say, some of the Chinese dishes tasted very authentic and traditional. Visited on a weekday evening, no waiting at all. It only cost £23.98 for dinner with unlimited soft drinks, which is definitely great value. The only downside is that the food was quite salty.

As buffet places go, this was by far one of the best places I've tried. Great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Food was on point, dare I say it, better than Cosmo?? If I'm ever in Scotland again, I would definitely have to dine here again and would highly recommend it 👌

Ka Ka Lok Chinese Restaurant offers an authentic and unforgettable dining experience with its casual atmosphere and a wide array of Chinese delicacies. Located in Glasgow, it may not be as well-known as other restaurants, but it is highly regarded within the Chinese community for its signature dishes like Beef Flank with Mooli, lobster noodles, and Beef Ho Fun.
Tried authentic dishes from a specific Chinese region for the first time—absolutely delicious! Highly recommend the meat board and eggplant pot. Both were incredibly flavorful and satisfying!

Tried this place – some hits and misses. The roast duck is definitely the highlight – best dish here! But be warned: some pieces have duck tail fragments, and biting into one unexpectedly… was kind of 😵‍💫. The lobster pasta looked promising, but some lobster parts tasted bitter, and the pasta was overcooked and mushy. Disappointing for the taste. The biggest letdown was the braised beef brisket pot – the chef’s recommendation. The radish was tough and overaged. The dish had a nice aroma, but the taste… well, just look at the photo and you’ll get what I mean 😅🙈 That said, service was genuinely excellent – super friendly and attentive, which I really appreciated. ⭐ 💰 Total spent: £73

Missed so much chinese food during my travelling at Scotland, found this restaurant with good recommendation. Good dinner experience here, all foods are really nice and with big portion. Price reasonable also. King prawn dry spicy garlic is the best! Roast duck also nice! Should try at this area!
Yenestc L — Google review
Three roast is one of this restaurant’s best dishes that we always order and this time the most delicious meat out of the three - the crispy pork was replaced without our knowledge with some dry boiled chicken. I don’t know if this is a money saving tactic and why they didn’t at least give us a phonecall to clarify which meat we want and instead give something noone wants. Extremely disappointed, will not order again anytime soon.
Adam U — Google review
Wholeheartedly recommend this place - I would always come here every time I visit Glasgow. I’ve been dining here since around 2017 (less so after moving away from Glasgow) and this is one of my favourite Chinese restaurants in the UK. The owners have changed for several times and my most recent visit was in August 2024, but in my opinion, their standards haven’t dropped, contrary to some of the other reviews. Their Cantonese roast dishes are a must try - they are one of the best in the country in my opinion, and you would be hard pressed to find considerably better quality Cantonese roast dishes elsewhere. Other Cantonese dishes are also delicious and are highly recommended. I would specifically recommend their salt and chilli chicken wings - although not a Cantonese dish and also not a dish I would normally order elsewhere, but there’s something special they do to the coating of the wings that would make these irresistibly crispy and juicy. Having said that, please don’t order any Szechuan dishes here if you can help it - these are not what they specialise here, and you will be disappointed. They also serve free soup and pudding (they taste much better partly because they were free), but only for dinner, subject to availabilities.

Food and service is always lovely here and recent visit was no exception. Was a bit cold inside but was soon warmed up once we had soup.

One of our favourite restaurants and go to for when we want delicious Chinese food! Super authentic and great portions. 3 meat roast is always great. A favourite is the salted fish and aubergine dish. I dream about this dish and crave it often. Really nice staff, good atmosphere. The place recently got a wee revamp as well. Siu Mai here are massive and so delicious. The steamed sea bass is also sooo good - the sauce is really delicious and tangy. It’s hard to pick new dishes to try because we love certain ones but we will try more of the menu. A firm favourite!

Pretty authentic Cantonese food for a Cantonese myself. Surprisingly the staffs speak Cantonese! Almost cry while having stir-fry beef rice noodle, as I haven't visited Canton for 3+ years due to covid 19. Ordered classic roasted duck and white cut chicken. They were pretty decent. The soup (no MSG!!) before main courses and the sweet soup after were on the house, and quite properly cook!

Chimes is a highly recommended Chinese restaurant and takeaway known for its exceptional food and attentive staff. Customers rave about the salt and pepper chicken pieces, steak, and fried rice. While some experienced longer wait times during busy periods, the quality of the food made up for it. The restaurant's popularity often results in a full house, but patrons find that the delicious food and attentive service make it worth returning to.
Great food. Ate here with my family while on vacation from the US. We were all tired of pub food and this was a great escape. Food really is great on its own though. Rice paper chicken and fries wan tons are great appetizers. Chicken chow mei , port fried rice and orange chicken were all really good. Highly recommend.
Michael W — Google review
I decided to order dinner for my wife and myself. We both had the chicken chow mein and the chicken and mushroom soup. The soup was okay; however, the chicken chow mein was excessively salty, and the chicken was chewy and dry. Additionally, the dish lacked variety in stir-fry vegetables, consisting only of pasta, chicken, and onion, which detracted from the overall dining experience.
SAIRUS — Google review
After visiting the restaurant I was looking forward to trying take away however now sitting at home wondering how the take out food could be so poor in comparison. A warm welcome on arrival and invited to sit in a bar like area to wait. I was kept up to date on progress. Ribs - about 3% meat and a sauce that looked like and had the consistency of passata (with bits of noodle stuck throughout). Chicken Balls - chicken with the strangest consistency, as if not fully cooked but definitely was. Maybe overcooked? Koon Po Chicken with batter so light it was near non existent and compared to other take aways in area, the smallest of portions. It also lacked the usual veg, minimal sauce and the same horrible chicken. Curry sauce again had a strange consistency but tasted okay. So disappointed as did find the restaurant food nice. Wish we'd stuck with our usual place :(

We stumbled across Chimes while on holiday from Ireland and we were not disappointed! The food was delicious, especially the chow mein!! As we had enjoyed a meal at the Jasmine restaurant last year, we made a return visit. What a disappointment! The barbecue spare ribs were tasteless, the fillet steak with mandarin sauce was fatty and the chicken and pineapple looked and was unappetising. Only the waitress was charming.

I love Chinese food and I’ve eaten it all over the world and I can honestly say that this place is in my top 3. The food was absolutely out of this world, the service was second to none, with extremely attentive and good natured staff and while the restaurant is quite small, it’s tastefully decorated, modern and most importantly spotlessly clean. The restaurant was recommended by friends. The food was very tasty, I ordered shrimp for over £10, I thought there would be a little more of them, but they made up for it in taste because they were very tasty. The soups are huge, you can eat a lot of them, the rice is very well prepared. The only thing I didn't like was the slightly dirty bathrooms, but it's tasty inside, you can eat it.

It is the 1st time I travel to Glasgow. I never know that there are a lot of Chinese restaurants in the city centre. I searched for this restaurant from Google Maps randomly. It is a small restaurant with limited tables. You can find a lot of spicy dishes on the menu. The taste is very authentic and resembles the original taste. Besides, the price is reasonable and the food portion is quite large. Highly recommended!

Absolutely disgusting. Have not seen a worse waiter. Waited and observed. Table after us had had their meal and finished their meal. Asked one of the waiter and and he just nonchalantly said that the kitchen was preparing. After forty minutes we asked another waiter to pressure the kitchen only to realise that the order was not keyed in. We were compensated by have our order put to the front, which was not very generous of the restaurant. We were not even given utensils (not even chopsticks) when we receive our food, and we had to ask for it. The cherry on top was that we had to dine in the dark. One of the most memorable experiences in every bad way. Pay to experience peasant simulator, had to beg for our food Ps. The photo was taken in between the electricity malfunction

Got there late so didn't have a lot of time but managed to try a couple of dishes. They have 2 menus , typical menu for Brits with all the favourites but also a menu with authentic mainland China dishes. I ordered off the latter and the Dim Sum prawn dumplings and chicken gizzard dishes were great. A dipping sauce would have been nice . The Chinese menu isn't marked for starters and mains so you need to ask which is which. Portions were very generous too. Prices very reasonable and a bit lower than is typical for the area and Chinese restaurants in Glasgow.Staff had limited English but enough to get by which is fine and added to the experience. They dont sell wine but you can get Chinese beer. Restaurant only had a few people in as I arrived late but was clean and has nice decor. Several Chinese eating there too which is always a good sign. Definitely going back as Chinese menu is very interesting. Along with typical Brit menu there are many dishes that look worth trying. They only accept cash or bank transfer.

Canton Lane is a newly opened restaurant that offers an authentic taste of Hong Kong. The drinks and food are highly praised, with the clay pot rice with ribs, homemade noodle soup, and fried squid being standout dishes. The restaurant's branding is well-executed, adding to the overall experience. While some have found the star dish, the clay pot rice, to be underwhelming and the dim sum slightly expensive, others have enjoyed their selection of dim sum as a great takeaway option.
The peeking duck was incredible, it was super juicy with a crispy skin. All the other dishes ordered came out piping hot. The staff were very friendly and attentive. One thing that was a surprise was that they don’t take card so be prepared to pay cash or e-transfer payee to settle up.

Impromptu dining, seated quickly on walk in. Good variety. However, taste left much to be desired. Lengthy wait for food to arrive. Clay pot gimmick is interesting but poor meat to rice ratio. Fried buns tasty but under filled. Tbh, overpriced for quality. Have had more enjoyable Cantonese cuisine in Glasgow with better taste profile and portions for price.

Really nice food, decent sized portions and not too expensive. My wife was really pleased to find somewhere that does good cheung fun. I'm not usually a fan of the dish but theirs was pretty good and all the other food was great, especially the turnip cakes with XO sauce. We will be back! 😀

From the moment I walked into Canton Lane, the atmosphere was electric—warm, welcoming, and beautifully styled. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to settle in for hours, soaking it all in. Richard was incredible—genuinely one of the most attentive and professional servers I’ve ever encountered. The entire team delivered impeccable service throughout; nothing was too much trouble, and every detail was spot on. And the food? Absolutely divine. Every bite felt like it had been personally blessed. I swear it tasted as if Jesus Himself had kissed me on the lips—that’s how transcendent it was. Rich, balanced flavours, beautifully presented dishes, and cooked to perfection. You won’t find better. Canton Lane isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a spiritual experience. 11/10. I’ll be back.

Since they have opened I have gone here 4 times. Awesome cheung fun, great turnip with XO, with everything else being tasty. Good drink selection and prompt service. To be honest one of my big takeaway here is the vegan options for clay pot, really good offering. Look if you want to be super critical you could comment on how the menu reads and the comfort of the seats, but this place is tasty, good portion sizes, considered staff and you should go!
Ozzie K — Google review
All the food we had are delicious! I love the cheung fun, especially the charsui one (roast sweet pork), it’s soft and full of flavour and the portions are decent. The xosauce ones are also very good, definitely one of the best cheung fun I’ve tried in Glasgow, highly recommend! The clay pot rice did not disappoint either, we tired the one with Chinese sausage, big portion, wish the rice is crispier at the bottom. Their congee/ rice porridge is also amazing, I’ve tried the one with century egg and pork, very nicely cooked, I would recommend! The dim sums are also great, we had braised beef shank which is full of flavour and chicken feet is super tender. The pan fried buns are okay but the dough is thicker than we preferred. The drinks are also great, the bear lemon tea is just so adorable, the line coconut milk is very nice as well. Overall, they have amazing decor, the menu has a huge range of varieties, plenty of seatings and friendly service. I would come again to try more delicious food 🤩

The afternoon tea that was brought to us was absolutely delicious sorry we didn't get the whole experience due to Covid restrictions but the food in the boxes was plentiful and we had it over two days Sandwiches, sausage rolls and quiche with one cake first then next day the rest of the cakes. Looking forward to doing it again.

Arranged afternoon to be delivered as a surprise for my sisters birthday. Absolutely delighted with the quantity and quality of the food provided. Wonderful service which I would be delighted to recommend and would definitely not hesitate to order again. Thanks for making this a special afternoon.

A lovely tasty mix for a Mother's Day afternoon tea delivered to my door ordered by my my daughter. A business card with delivery would have been helpful as it was unexpected. Thanks Molly & Flo

Great service went above and beyond to help me get a birthday tea to my sister. The quality of the food and baking was reportedly excellent. An uplifting service during this lockdown/teir system time, and would thoroughly recommend to lift your spirits. Or just a a treat.
