Bodies of Water
Loch Lomond is a picturesque highlands lake offering waterside paths, cruises, adventure attractions, golfing opportunities, and charming villages. To increase the chances of wildlife encounters, staying outdoors in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park is recommended. There are various accommodation options available from simple meadow pitches to luxurious log cabins with easy access to Scottish wildlife.
A stunning loch, with plenty of walking routes around it. There's plenty of options for a bit of wild swimming. We walked alongside it while walking the West Highland Way.
Donna W — Google review
Beautiful lake. The boat trip is a must. A walk to the castle is pleasant and quite relaxing. This is a visit to a wonderful park. Not a walk on nature. Overall, I recommend the trip.
F M — Google review
A place worth experiencing when you visit Scotland. Everything here is wonderful, from the natural scenery to the people. You can explore this place by both land and water.
Khánh N — Google review
What a beautiful place to explore. Had a cruise on the lake which is a must. On a good day you can walk around the loch and climb the Ben Lomond and do a scenic walk in one of the loch’s islands. Make sure you allocate enough time to be able to do most of the activities.

🌊 My Visit to Loch Lomond, Scotland Visiting Loch Lomond was a breathtaking experience. Located just about an hour from Glasgow, it is the largest freshwater loch in Scotland and part of the stunning Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Surrounded by rolling hills, forests, and charming villages, the scenery is simply spectacular. I enjoyed a leisurely walk along the shore, boat rides on the loch, and exploring the picturesque village of Luss. The calm waters, reflections of the hills, and peaceful atmosphere make it a perfect spot for photography, picnics, and relaxation. Visitor Tips: Bring comfortable walking shoes for trails, and pack snacks or a picnic. Boat tours and water activities are available during summer months. Early morning or late afternoon visits offer the best light for photos and fewer crowds. How to Reach: Loch Lomond is accessible by car via the A82 from Glasgow or by train to Balloch with onward local transport. Overall, Loch Lomond is a must-visit for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone seeking tranquility amidst Scotland’s iconic landscapes.

Ok so the weather at the end of May was not so great ,but I drove up from Glasgow with a Loch tour booked to my amazment I got there way to early even though I had already been to Dunbarton Castle, but I asked at the kiosk if I could change my ticket and just like that the young lady siad aye there is a boat going in 5 mins so of I went on my second adventure in less than 4 hours.

Lovely scenery and it's a very large area so plenty to see if you are up for a bit of a walk
Alan G — Google review
A beautiful lake, which is beautiful irrespective of the time of the day. It has boating and some water sports options to engage with the environment. Very peaceful to just sit by the side of water and let the waves (yes! Waves in the lake water) entertain you for a while.

Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, a Scottish gem, offers a mix of stunning natural landscapes and rich history. At its heart lies Loch Lomond, the UK's largest freshwater body, providing various water activities and scenic islands to explore. The park boasts diverse terrains from lush southern landscapes to rugged northern glens.
Loch Lomond is another heavenly beauties of Scotland. It has Towering Mountains, Glittering Lochs, Dense Woodlands and Several Islands. Here, you can see the mountains are kissing the water and the sky at the same time. You will see unreal beauty, if you visit on a bright sunny day. Very close to Balloch railway station. The River Cruise is a must, where you will enjoy the water, stunning mountain views and several islands in the journey. Perfect weekend trip for your family. The kids will enjoy the fullest. We took the Silver Dolphin Cruise which was amazing. A must visit place, if you are in Edinburgh or Glasgow.
Rohit R — Google review
A stunning place to visit. Just a few minutes walk from the train station, and you are in breath-taking scenery. There are lots of different walking trails. Dotted around the loch, there are children's play areas. There is also a castle and walled garden that you can explore. The nearest toilets are at the castle. There were picnic tables. There are hard surface paths around the loch. These are wheelchair accessible. Dog walking off lead is allowed.

This is amazingly beautiful place to do hiking, chilling by the water or doing water activities, it has it all covered. Little place called Luss, was a brilliant spot for us. Has got boat tours, little cafe and shop, parking and petrol station, town streets and houses are postcard perfect, the beach with white sand. Amazing experience. Weather in the morning didn't promise a nice day, but later sunshine appeared and it was lovely.

Breathtaking! A cross between North Carolina and Colorado. We came through in March and I can only imagine what the scenery is like here in the summer and fall. We were able to see a tremendous variety of flora and fauna, from vast swatches of some of the largest daffodils I have ever seen, to wild Scottish Red Deer, which look similar to a North American Elk. The weather, while cold and damp, was almost perfect for the time of year we visited. This is a bucket list item, for sure!
Joe M — Google review
Truly a beautiful lake, I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I can really tell the Scottish people take real good care of the lake too. Well worth a visit.
Nick — Google review
We were staying in Stirling and went on a day trip to see this area. It was amazing to see the beautiful highland landscapes and lowland rolling hills & drive through the villages.
Catherine H — Google review
Camping is allowed in this area as its outwith the Loch Lomond and Trossachs no camping zone. Parking at the Balquhidder church this route takes about an hour and a half walking. There isn't many good pitches at Lochan Eireannaich but I managed to find a good one.
Colin M — Google review
Although far for most Englanders, this is a place of extraordinary beauty. Whether you like watersports, or hiking. Quick tips: 1. Always carry midge spray. Avoid DEET though. Midges usually are the biggest annoyance in and around the area. 2. If you booked a water taxi, make sure you call them ahead of schedule if the jeti they will pick you up from is busy.

Excellent meal - proper good quality pub grub. Lots of choice on the menu. I had fillet steak and he had fish pie. Lots of food - too much for me but thoroughly enjoyed. The service - lots of young staff was brilliant. A great find recommended to us by the owner of our nearby accommodation.

This was the first hotel we stayed at on our west highland way journey. Rooms were well maintained and clean. We shared a bathroom with one other room which wasn't bad. Staff was great and we were even able to check in early which was so appreciated after a long day. Dinner was fantastic. One of the best we had during our 12 days in Scotland.
Ashley H — Google review
We had an excellent meal for two here. Though they were extremely busy, all the young waiting staff were refreshing very attentive and with such a good professional approach. Not surprisingly the service was excellent and food well presented and delicious. Many thanks for making our last evening of our break in Loch Lomond feel special.

This is the second time we’ve eaten here and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is so lovely - cosy and quaint with nice decor too. The staff are friendly and made us feel welcome. The food was 10/10 - tons of choice, big portions and delicious. I had the seafood trio to start and it tasted so fresh. The salmon was incredible - full of flavour and presented beautifully. We had multiple cocktails too and every single one was really nice and presented well. We can’t recommend this place enough - it’s a treasure.

Booked a table for a party of five for lunch mid week. Booking was easy and done in a nice manner . On arrival we were greeted and taken to the restaurant where we decided on the table and then ordered a variety of things from the menu. Staff were both helpful and nice and patient ; they had to be ,decisions decisions were slow on our part . Food came and all looked very appetising ; it was good too and everyone was happy . I remember the food from years ago being very good and while the menu style had changed the quality is still very good . No hesitation to recommend and I look forward to returning. Thank you Clachan team .

Scottish hospitality at it's best! I stopped here a few times on my walking holiday and the staff and locals were so welcoming and friendly. They found a table for me and my dog in the bar when we arrived late, tired and hungry. We'll both be back.

The Village Rest Luss is a charming casual restaurant and cafe that serves seasonal Scottish cuisine from morning to evening. Established in 1705, it has become one of the most famous pubs in Scotland, offering a trip to the past with its Highland welcome and diverse drink selection. Located on Pier Road Alderdale Cottage in Luss, within Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, it provides a beautiful spot to relax and enjoy homely food with efficient service.
I visited this place for lunch with my family, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely great every dish we ordered was cooked to perfection and full of flavour. The steak pie stood out the most: rich, hearty, and packed with delicious flavour. The burgers were equally impressive, juicy and well seasoned, and my brother couldn’t stop raving about his fish and chips crispy on the outside and tender inside. Adding to our amazing food experience theservice was impressively fast, and the staff were incredibly friendly, making us feel welcome and well looked after throughout our meal. The cosy atmosphere of the place added to the charm. We’ll definitely be returning. Highly recommended if you’re in the area!

We came here as a group of 8 and had a wonderful meal. The food was delicious, portions were generous, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff were extremely polite and attentive, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend!
M M — Google review
We visited this homely restaurant with a group of three. The staff was friendly, but the wait time was quite long. We were told it would be 10 minutes, but it ended up being much longer. We tried their F&C (Haddock) and Cod Fish wrap. The food was average, but the wrap had little cod fish filling. Considering the location, it’s a reasonable place for lunch if you’re visiting.
Y T — Google review
Visiting here to eat was a welcome respite from the rain and being dog friendly was a huge bonus. The menu was much better than most places in the area for those that don't eat meat & fish, so that is an additional bonus here. The staff, whilst clearly busy, were efficient and friendly and the food served quite promptly. Absolutely worth visiting!
Gregory H — Google review
Excellent food, staff and atmosphere. Pricier than in the city but it’s a touristy area. Really like this place. Clean and efficient too. Nice staff. They even have doggie menu.

Ate there with me family. It right along the trail and the food is great. We were all really impressed. The service was also great. They allow dogs which is also fun but made us miss our own dog back home. I highly recommend this great spot.

The Village Rest in Luss is such a lovely spot! The food is delicious, the staff are warm and welcoming, and the whole place has a cozy village charm. There’s a nice picnic table outside where you can sit and enjoy the beautiful surroundings — perfect on a sunny day. A must-visit if you’re exploring Luss or stopping by Loch Lomond!

The vegetarian options were also delicious. We had excellent, attentive and friendly service from Abby. We would definitely recommend here to all and I will definitely come back next time I am in Glasgow.

We didn't eat here but have been to the Òran Mór for a few gigs and I like it! It's usually clean, the bar staff seem nice and the toilets are never messy...a real plus considering some of the pubs I've been to in the area! All in all, recommended.

Had lunch here. The menu is varied and there is snacks as well as the three course menu available. The bar staff were ok but the waiting staff more than made up for this in humour and big smiles. Hence the top rating. The fries looked great and were a favourite amongst the other customers..

The Ben Nevis, located in Glasgow, is a relatively new but highly regarded traditional Scottish pub. It is known for its highland and islander vibe, live tap-dancing folk music, and an impressive selection of malt whiskies and craft beers. The pub hosts free live music sessions on select days where guests can enjoy traditional Scottish music while sipping on Scotch whisky or exploring other beverages like gins.
The food was so good! Went on a weekend and it was full on the backyard area, we were able to eat inside. Ordered

Really fun pub with a great selection of whisky and beer. We saw online that they features live Celtic music, but apparently it's not every night (I guess it's Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday) so we might have to come back. A very friendly, knowledgeable and patient bartender helped us find the right whisky, and the crowd was local, loud and entertaining. Great place!

Pub
The Lismore pub is a west end Toronto establishment with classic features and an eclectic feel. It offers live music on certain days and weekdays, as well as trivia nights on Thursdays.
A truly classic bar predominantly selling hard liquor but has a couple of cask ales pouring, the quality of which ensures it’s a regular entry in the Good Beer Guide. Excellent atmosphere helped with the 80’s New Wave music in the background. The stained glass windows are a sight to behold so come in and see for yourself and enjoy the great hospitality.
Mark N — Google review
Not sure where to start, the carpentry and decor at this pub is just amazing. Huge wooden doors and panelling, beautiful stained glass windows and just amazing all round. 2 handpumps with real Ale, no pumpclip on the one we had but it was a great pint
Ellen T — Google review
Beautiful old pub just a short walk from the three judges very good cask beer 🍺
Adrian S — Google review
Very good Glasgow pub about three minutes walk from Kelvinhall subway station. Two cask beers on handpump when I visited including a stout. A few tables outside on the pavement. There is a strong highland connection in this pub, with the name spelt in Gaelic by the side entrance. Stained-glass windows by local artists portray scenes from the infamous clearances while the urinals are dedicated to the Duke of Sutherland and other perpetrators. Regular folk sessions are featured.
John J — Google review
TRUE WHISKY olde world bar/lounge on Dumbarton Rd near KelvinGrove in Glasgow that from the outside is unconvincing - but step inside and its cosy, subtle lighting, traditional and warm great service. Lots of great choices of Whisky, two versions of draught Guinness (ice cold) and all of your favourite drinks! I ordered a special Glengoyne and Steven wanted to tell me the price before ordering!! I knew it wasnt cheap but appreciated the heads-up! Great service, good draught beer with clean systems - highly recommended as a stop off in your busy days! Will certainly come back regularly.

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is a must-see attraction in Glasgow, offering a diverse collection of Scottish and international art as well as natural history displays. Situated in the historic district of Glasgow Cross, it provides visitors with an opportunity to explore 22 galleries featuring famous floating heads and renowned artworks like Dali's Christ of St John of the Cross painting. The museum also offers exhibitions that provide insights into different time periods.
Visited the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum during our family holiday to Scotland, and it was a standout experience! The building itself is stunning—both outside and in—and packed with exhibits that kept the kids fascinated for hours. From ancient artefacts to interactive science displays, every room offered something unique. The highlight for us was the natural history section and the Spitfire suspended in the main hall—absolutely thrilling for the little ones! The atmosphere was welcoming for families. Best of all, admission was free, making it an easy and worthwhile stop for travellers. Highly recommended if you're exploring Glasgow with children—educational, entertaining, and inspiring!

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is outstanding, with a fantastic mix of art, cultural treasures, and natural history exhibits. The daily organ concert at 1pm is a real highlight and not to be missed. The biggest drawback is the parking—spaces are limited, the machines don’t accept credit cards, and the parking app doesn’t work for international visitors, so don’t bother trying. Bring coins if you must drive, but it’s far easier to take public transit or Uber. Aside from the parking headache, this is a world-class museum and well worth the visit.

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is one of Glasgow's largest and most popular attractions. It contains a wealth of exhibits ranging from prehistory to the present day. One of the most interesting exhibits is Salvador Dalí's painting, "Christ of Saint John of the Cross". The sheer number of exhibits and artifacts is impressive, and it takes several hours to explore everything. On-site amenities include restrooms and refreshment stands. The icing on the cake is the organ concert held there. As they say, there's something for everyone. I highly recommend it.

Absolutely brilliant museum! Can't miss this one when on Glasgow! Definitely worth spending some time here and then some! Setting aside the great architecture of the building itself the collections are absolutely fantastic catering to varying tastes from Natural History to Painting to Design. And to top it all, it's free! The shop doesn't disappoint either if that's high on your priorities 😉

Lovely museum with a brilliant range of exhibits - not just Art. 2 gift shops, one for adults and one for children, will a lovely range of items. Is free to enter but you need to pay for parking. We paid £7.90 for three hours which was well worth it. There’s a food van in the car park for hot drinks and a bite to eat. We used the EV charger - lead got stuck in the machine and had to call the help line who wouldn’t release us until the car next to us had disconnected. Not the museums issue at all but worth noting if you’re planning on charging there.

I have been a few times over the years and still enjoy it just as much as I did the first time. I went recently with my family on a rainy day. We had a good walk round everywhere and spent a couple of hours. There is lots to see and things for kids to do around the museum. There is a wee cafe inside, if you fancy a tea/coffee, cake, soup and other things available. I have never tried to cafe so cant comment on the food. There are 3 floors to discover a huge range to keep everyone happy. There is also a gift shop. Plenty toilets, disabled access with elevators to get from floor to floor. At certain times you can her the giant organ playing (we went Sunday) so it played at 3pm. There is a big park area outside for a walk round or picnic in dry weather. Can hop on the 77 from Buchanan bus station and takes 10mins. Bonus its Free. There are places you can leave a donation. Don't want to share too many photos so you can see for yourselves.

A wonderful place to visit in Glasgow! Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is truly amazing — a perfect mix of art, history, and culture under one beautiful roof. The architecture itself is stunning, and the exhibits are very well arranged. I especially loved the variety — from ancient artifacts to modern art and natural history displays. It’s peaceful, educational, and completely free to enter. A must-visit spot for anyone in Glasgow!

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is one of Glasgow’s most beautiful and iconic landmarks. The museum, opened in 1901, is housed in a stunning red sandstone building located beside Kelvingrove Park and near the University of Glasgow. It features over 8,000 exhibits, including masterpieces by Van Gogh, Rembrandt, and Salvador Dalí, as well as fascinating displays about Scotland’s history, nature, and culture. One of the highlights is the grand organ, which is used for free daily concerts that fill the museum with wonderful music. The museum is free to enter and offers a perfect mix of art, history, and nature — a must-visit spot in Glasgow!

The Glasgow Necropolis is a Victorian-era cemetery that houses the graves and mausoleums of prominent figures from Glasgow's past. Spanning 37 acres, it is a rich source of captivating architecture, sculptures, and historical narratives from the city's Victorian era. With an estimated 50,000 burials and around 3,500 monuments marking them, this cemetery has been described as a 'city of the dead.'
Beautiful cemetery within walking distance of Glasgow city centre. Spent about an hour looking around. I'm sure there would be something interesting to see each visit. Very peaceful with lovely views of Glasgow Cathedral and loved the spring blossom. Free to enter.

Stepping into the Glasgow Necropolis feels less like entering a cemetery and more like discovering an open-air museum. This Victorian masterpiece is an absolute must-see and a true five-star experience. Perched on a hill overlooking Glasgow Cathedral, the Necropolis offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city. As you ascend the winding paths, each turn reveals a new and stunning monument. The sheer scale and intricate detail of the tombs and mausoleums are awe-inspiring, a testament to the city's rich history and the craftsmanship of the time. You can spend hours wandering, reading the fascinating inscriptions, and admiring the varied architectural styles, from Greek Revival to Gothic. The atmosphere is one of serene beauty and historical reverence, not at all eerie. It's a peaceful place for a walk, a spot for contemplation, and a photographer's dream, especially as the light changes throughout the day. The "Bridge of Sighs" that connects the cathedral to the Necropolis is an iconic entry point, setting the stage for the grandeur that awaits. Whether you're a history buff, an architecture enthusiast, or simply looking for a unique and beautiful place to explore in Glasgow, the Necropolis delivers on every front. It's a truly unforgettable place that captures the city's past and offers some of the best views you'll find anywhere.

Absolutely stunning. We love a grave yard and this has to be one of the biggest and best we've been to in the UK. Huge monuments and lots of different graves and structures to look at. It looks out across Glasgow city and you can see the beautiful cathedral from it's banks. Its a bit messy in places with overgrown ivy and trees but I guess this is down to the council and money. It's still stunning though and really gets you appreciating the architecture.
Karl V — Google review
Set on a hill overlooking the city, this Victorian cemetery offers stunning views of Glasgow, especially at sunset. The architecture of the tombs and monuments is incredible—each one tells a story. It’s peaceful, a bit eerie in the best way, and perfect for a reflective walk. I’d recommend combining it with a visit to the nearby Glasgow Cathedral and grabbing a coffee in one of the local cafés after. A quiet yet powerful experience.

“Grand cemetery of the Victorian elite” as per Google maps! This place is so interesting, full of social history. We were there over an hour and only saw some of it. Following in from the entrance next to Glasgow Cathedral the paths twist and turn getting higher and higher. The view from the higher parts of the Necropolis are breathtaking! We visited on a bright sunny day but I would love to see it at dusk. I think the Necropolis has to be one of the places you should definitely visit when visiting Glasgow. Free entry. Highly recommended!

We were visiting Glasgow for a day trip from Stirling and walked around this fascinating attraction known as the Victorian “city of the dead” situated on a hill just east of Glasgow Cathedral. It is home to approximately 50,000 burials and around 3,500 elaborate monuments and mausoleums. The top of the hill has nice view of the city and the Cathedral.

The large cemetery located behind the Glasgow cathedral. It is very extensive and imposing. The Victorian style tombs tells the power and wealth of those buried there. One of the biggest and noticeable tomb is a monument dedicated to John Knox, while he was actually buried near Giles cathedral at Edinburgh. The place necropolis means city of dead.

The Necropolis is a great place to visit in Glasgow's spiritual heart. Although the Necropolis is in the centre of busy Glasgow, it is a good place to go for inner city peace and contemplation and also stunning views of Glasgow stretching in all directions. Tours are also given lasting about 2 hours, which book up quickly. I highly recommend a visit to the Necropolis.

Glasgow Cathedral, also known as St. Mungo's, is a significant example of Scottish Gothic architecture and the oldest building in Glasgow. It was consecrated in 1197 and is the only medieval cathedral to have survived the Protestant Reformation in 1560. The lower crypt houses the tomb of Glasgow's patron saint, St. Mungo. Visitors are captivated by its stunning stained glass windows and ornate interior.
Glasgow Cathedral is one of the iconic buildings to visit in Glasgow. Its breathtaking and majestic Gothic architecture is evident both inside and out. The intricate details of the cathedral reveal the rich history of this enduring structure. The cathedral is free to enter, but donations are recommended for the restoration and maintenance of the building. Please note that the last entry is at 4:15 p.m., so you’ll need a full hour to explore everything inside. There’s also plenty of information to read along the way.

Despite the advised booking of free tickets online, we discovered upon arrival that no one was checking them, and we were permitted to enter freely. We were fortunate to join a free guided tour immediately. The volunteer guide provided excellent context, explaining the history of the cathedral and the reasons for its construction in that location. There is a great deal to see, and visitors who appreciate religious art and history could easily spend several hours inside.

It's a truly unique experience to walk through such a historic place. Plus, it's free to enter, and you can get audio guides for a small fee to learn even more. The cathedral is really well-maintained, and it's a great visual experience. Highly recommend

Located in the heart of Glasgow, Ubiquitous Chip is a renowned brasserie that has been a staple in the city's dining scene. The restaurant prides itself on showcasing Scottish cuisine and locally sourced ingredients, making it a top recommendation for visitors. Its charming atmosphere, with mismatched furniture and twinkling fairy lights, adds to its bohemian appeal. The menu features innovative and artistic dishes that highlight the restaurant's culinary prowess.
Got the venison burger and it was so good I literally said "wow" on first bite. Most everything else was excellent too. Ordered a martini and the staff was super apologetic not to have olives, but it was still a lovely drink. The burger came with unexpected chips, and the wine was excellent, and it's a nice place with good atmosphere and terrific service. Highly recommended.

Last night, we visited the ever popular Ubiquitous Chip and it was another great dining experience. The Chip (as it's known) is a sister business to Stravaigin (another favourite of ours) and it's recently reopened after a bit of a refurbishment. There are various spaces to enjoy including a pub and bar as well as a large multi level restaurant area. The vaulted glass cieling area is a mix of brick, iron and big green plants. It's softened by interesting artwork, especially the stairway to the bathroom. Staff are always attentive, casual in approach but knowledgable. The atmosphere is always buzzing and the crowd tends to be very local. We enjoyed torched makeral and pigeon to start. Followed by sea trout and venison. To finish our meal, the desserts (chocolate delice and fig & custard) were the highlight. Highly recommend this Ashton Lane stalwart.

27.09.25 Updated review to reply: If it's likely to not get charged £25 per person by cancelling then it should be considered changing the wording on the cancelling policy. If it is for no shows mainly (which I do understand btw). Added photo/screenshot for booking policy. Initial review: The food was amazing and the service was good too. Giving 4* because if you happen to not manage to go within less than 24h they will charge £25 per person on the booking. Which is a bit cheeky! I understand lots of people won't even bother cancelling but I would say £10 per person with maybe 12h notice it would be understanding.

Educational institution
The University of Glasgow, established in 1451, is a multi-disciplinary institution and played a significant role during the Scottish Enlightenment. The campus, located in the West End since the 1870s, boasts stunning architecture designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott. Its gothic buildings and castle-like turrets are rumored to have inspired J.K. Rowling's Hogwarts. Visitors can stroll through peaceful sunny courtyards and admire the awe-inspiring old buildings that give off a dream castle vibe.
If you’re into architecture, the University of Glasgow is a must-see. The main building is a stunning example of Gothic Revival style, and it genuinely feels like stepping into another era. From the pointed arches and intricate stone carvings to the massive spires that reach into the sky, it’s a place that grabs your attention from every angle. Designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott in the 19th century, the building looks more like a cathedral or a fantasy castle than a university. The level of detail is insane — every window, column, and corridor has a story. The cloisters (those arched walkways under the building) are especially beautiful, and they make the whole place feel peaceful and dramatic at the same time. What’s really cool is how the building blends history with everyday life. Students walk through these centuries-old halls daily, and yet it still feels fresh and full of life. It’s one of those rare places where the architecture isn’t just for show — it’s still being used and appreciated the way it was meant to be. Even if you’re not an architecture nerd, it’s impossible not to be impressed. Take a walk through, look up, and just enjoy being surrounded by some of the most beautiful stonework in the city.

Stepping onto the campus feels like stepping into the past, creating a surreal atmosphere. The university’s preservation is remarkable, and every location is incredibly picturesque. It’s not just a place to learn; it’s a wonderful destination to unwind and be amazed by the architecture. The campus also houses a museum that might interest you. Loch Fyne Restaurant & Oyster Bar is a sophisticated establishment that offers a variety of fish and shellfish in a modern and pristine setting adorned with maritime-themed artwork. The restaurant, located just over an hour's drive from Glasgow, serves an array of delectable seafood including scallops, mussels, langoustines, lobster, salmon, squid, and oysters. In addition to the picturesque dining area, they also boast a popular deli and online shop featuring their own branded products.
Visited last week and really enjoyed the experience. We ordered the fish & chips and some oysters. Decided to go for takeaway and sat outside on the picnic benches, which offered a gorgeous view which perfect for anyone who enjoys dining outdoor. The oysters were incredibly fresh, absolutely lovely, especially if you're a seafood lover. I'd definitely recommend sitting outside if the weather’s nice, as the view really adds to the experience. A great spot for a relaxed meal with quality food and a scenic backdrop!

Came back here after many many years. Really enjoyed it the first time around. We did come on a day when the restaurant itself was closed, but the shop open - we did know that, but thought the surely sell oysters in the shop as well. And they did. Got a salmon sandwich and half-a dozen oysters. Took a seat outside on one of the many tables. Dogs are welcome outside. The salmon was of great quality and the Oysters as excellent as we remembered. Good sized, smooth....creamy. Since we bought them in the shop we had to open them ourselves, but it was manageable. Since the salmon was so delicious we bought to whole packs of them, another 6x oysters, some cheese and black garlic paste. There are other seafood items for sale, cheeses, jams and much more. Staff was friendly and helpful. Toilets in the shop as well. Even though the restaurant was closed, the place was really busy. But the parking lot is huge, so that's no problem. Surely we'll be back when we're in the area next time.

It's a shame one now has to come here for a decent seafood experience. I do miss the other Loch Fynes that used to exist. Nevertheless, the quality is still top rate. Unfortunately the day I visited there were a lot of items unavailable which meant we couldn't have the seafood platter, instead I had the lobster and fries, and it was excellent

We had a really wonderful meal here. I’d had been before many years ago, and was so excited and pleased to go back. Food is top quality, very fresh seafood, simply but effectively prepared. Good wine list. And considered the quality of say very good value for money. There were a few tiny things about service that stopped me putting a 5 star review, but it is a great restaurant, most of the staff were lovely, and I would deffinately go back again if in the area.

This was by far the best lunch we had had for a very very long time We shared battered haddock and chips And a platter of smoked fish We started with plump fresh oysters - a fantastic taste of freshness The haddock - wow - by far the best we’ve ever had - perfectly cooked fish in a light and crispy batter - gorgeous !! The platter was great - tasty smoked mussels, perfect pickled herring with tart apple slices to cut through the vinegar - mild smoked trout The onion rings should be banned as highly addictive !!! Great service! Great food! Good well stocked deli too

The freshest seafood ever! I mean, seriously. Most everything on the menu is caught in Loch Fyne. The OYSTERS are to die for. We were unable to get a booking Saturday as they were completely booked out days in advance. We decided to get takeaway oysters and smoked salmon, and ate them outside on the picnic tables. Wellllllll the oysters were so good we asked to book lunch the next day. They fortunately had an opening. We came back today and were blown away by the selection and the quality of the food. Again we had 6 fresh oysters, and also the hand dived Shetland scallops with the a black pudding on the side (it is Scottish sausage and I don’t eat meat, but the husband does). We also indulged in the Loch Fyne Langoustines. I enjoyed a glass of extra brut Cremant BdB from France. Nice and dry bubbly. Hoooo weeee that was a great lunch! Everything came out quickly and was a nice presentation. The langoustines were served with a side of garlic butter and chips (fries). The food we selected was perfect for two people. If you are in Scotland and you like seafood, make sure to put this place on your list. Best oysters I’ve ever had. They also have a very nice deli attached with some local gifts. The fresh fish looks amazing. They also sell some snacks like fresh cheese and those oat crackers that are so good.

Very disappointing. They have a seating area outside with picnic benches over looking the loch. I would say perfect location with gorgeous views - especially for those like ourselves who have a dog. The picnic benches are just outside the restaurant door… hardly a ‘hike’ from the kitchen yet you aren’t allowed to order off the main menu, only the poor selection from the take away menu - a choice of 3 things. If you don’t fancy a heavy meal you’re pretty screwed. All we wanted was 3 starters, a portion of chips and a glass of wine each. The deli next door hardly had a great choice either - 1 tuna sandwich that looked like a 6 year old had made it and two other sandwiches for just short of £4. Hardly appetising. We’ve ended up leaving in hope to find a friendlier spot, with a better selection and more accommodating staff. We won’t be rushing back nor recommending it to anyone. Shame.

My wife declared this her favorite meal of our two week trip. The seafood was fresh and amazingly delicous. Much of it comes directly from Loch Fyne, right on the doorstep. The staff were extremely joyful and friendly. There were 8 of us for lunch and we did make reservations. I highly recommend a visit. Quick tip... try the oysters!

Art school
The Glasgow School of Art is a renowned university-level art school that offers design and architecture courses housed within the iconic Mackintosh building. In 2014, a devastating fire swept through the historic main building, threatening to destroy the masterpiece designed by legendary architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Despite the destruction of the beautiful Mackintosh Library, heroic efforts by firefighters saved most of the structure. The resilience and grandeur of the building, even in its damaged state, reflect Mackintosh's architectural brilliance.
This is amazing and wonderful school of arts , they have students to all overstaff from different walks of life so you will definitely get best experience and teaching here that much they have former student who has mini gallery shop on garthill run by panda mcglone and his wee pals that shows you the levels of how good the art school.

What an entitled, aloof, privileged and arrogant institution this is. Their catastrophic footprint on the local area and Glasgow as a whole after their fires can never be ignored. Having closed roads for years for their personal use under the guise of repairing the Mack is appalling. The place should be demolished and every single person in management fired!

I'm happy to share my experience at The Glasgow School of Art! The institution's commitment to delivering high-quality education is evident in every aspect. As a student specializing in design, I have found it to be a great place to learn and connect with outstanding lecturers with a lot of both practical and theoretical experience. Even as a first-year student who joined as an advanced learner from year 3, I've been thoroughly enjoying every moment and discussion with my tutors. The classes are of great quality, providing valuable insights and fostering practical learning. It's been a rewarding experience, and I highly recommend The Glasgow School of Art for anyone seeking an enriching and fulfilling education in design.

What a great historical building with very knowledgeable and convivial students. The building was designed by the famous architect mackintosh. The building is very beautiful. It would be better if we could see the studios with their huge north windows witch was a shame. Over all great experience would go again sometime. Leave a like please 👍🏻

George Square is a central spot in Glasgow with a lot of history and a great atmosphere. 🏛️ It’s surrounded by beautiful buildings, and the statues throughout the square add to its charm. 🗿 It’s a nice place to sit and relax, especially on a sunny day, though it can get quite busy. 📸 Sometimes, there are events or gatherings happening, which makes it even more lively. Definitely worth a visit if you're exploring Glasgow

George Square is a famous place in the centre of Glasgow. There are big statues, old buildings, and usually many people around. But now the square is under construction, so some parts are closed and not so nice to see. It’s still a good place to walk by, but not the best time to visit until the work is finished.

The "renovation of the century", a complete transformation of the square, is currently taking place on the square. It is completely fenced off, nothing can be seen from it.There is a hole in the tarpaulin, through which you can look into the square to see the construction work.

The square has a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, with beautiful architecture and plenty of space to relax and enjoy. It’s a perfect spot for families and friends to spend quality time together. Definitely a place we’ll visit again! Highly recommend!

Love the decor and ambience. Ever for a weekday, there was a good crowd with both locals and tourist. For some light bar snacks, the pies are delicious and good prices. A true hidden gem for those visiting Glasgow.

Went looking for a decent whiskey bar while in Glasgow city centre for a couple of nights and found an excellent one. I know a decent amount about whiskey and have a collection of around 40 bottles, so I asked the staff to recommend me something. I told them I had no preference as long as they're smooth on the way down. The lady brought me 4 whiskies to choose from and explained them all. I couldn't decide which to try so I bought all 4, and I wasn't disappointed. All 4 were new to me and I was delighted with the recommendations. Great decor and feel. Great atmosphere. Hundreds of bottles to try. Knowledgeable staff who know their drams.

The Balloch House is an 18th-century inn located by the water, offering a cozy retreat with its low wooden-beamed ceilings, open fire, and homely atmosphere. The pub features leather armchairs, paved flooring, and a beer garden for outdoor dining. The menu includes a variety of dishes such as schnitzel parmigiana, roast dinners, fish, grilled food like steak and stonebaked pizzas.
We had a wonderful dining experience at The Balloch House! We ordered the ribeye steak, salmon fishcake, katsu chicken rice bowl, and the signature burger—everything was absolutely delicious. Each dish was cooked to perfection, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. The ambience was warm and welcoming, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. The service was excellent too—friendly, attentive, and efficient. If you’re in the area and looking for great food in a lovely setting, The Balloch House is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommend!

This was a typical vintage in pub. I had Lamb Shank £25, which came in a nice red wine sauce. I could of done with a bit more sauce to be honest. My partner had a chicken schnitzel £17. She said the chips were'nt very warm. The service was quite slow, as the waitress had loads of tables to service. We wanted vinegar, which we asked for but it never arrived.

We had an amazing dinner today, and it was such a lovely experience from start to finish. I went for the Hunter's Chicken Schnitzel with a side of halloumi fries, while my wife chose the signature burger both dishes were absolutely delicious. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted just as good as it looked. The atmosphere in the restaurant is exactly what you’d want for a relaxing evening out warm, welcoming, and cozy. It felt inviting the moment we walked in, and it made our meal all the more enjoyable. The staff were fantastic too really friendly, attentive, and welcoming without being overbearing. They made us feel well looked after throughout our visit. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here and will definitely be returning. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great food in a cozy setting with excellent service.

Manager was very welcoming to us first timers to the Balloch House. Gave us a fab seat by the fire which was kept roaring all night giving a very cosy atmosphere. I had the weekend treat menu and hubby are from a la carte. Knocked a star off as his hollindaise was missing the brown shrimp. Our server, Megan, was lovely and kept the drinks flowing. Thank you for a lovely meal - we'll recommend and be back if in the area. Tandoori chicken starter was lovely as was sea bass and fishcakes. Loved the volume of music too, not too loud to talk but made the place feel relaxed 😎

The Falls of Dochart Inn is a charming hotel housed in an old blacksmith's house, offering picturesque views of the waterfalls. Guests can enjoy casual dining and complimentary breakfast during their stay. Situated in the village of Killin, at the eastern end of Loch Tay, visitors can witness the majestic Falls of Dochart flowing through the village into Loch Tay. The inn provides a warm and friendly atmosphere with attentive staff, making it an ideal place to relax and take in the beautiful scenery.
We try to come to Killin every year and this is a fantastic pub. The food is good, the views are stunning, the beers are great and my personal favourite part is the Smoke House. Probably the best smoked salmon you can buy in the UK! While we've never stayed in the rooms, we will always come here for a pint when visiting. 🍻

The food we had was delicious but......there was really only 4 options on the menu, salmon linguine, burgers or pizzas plus 1 other I've forgotten. The website promises a much larger menu but the staff said this was reduced a long time ago they just haven't updated the website. After having to pay £10 online to secure a table booking, we felt tricked when we got there and found the food options we were looking forward to weren't even available. The linguine and burger was good but owners definitely need to update the website or warn people on arrival.

For the restaurant. Their website said they serve food till 9, but when we stopped in at 8:10 for dinner, they said they were done serving food. We went again the next night. Fish and chips were good. Their house gin and tonic is fantastic. The haggis pizza was good but something was missing, though not sure what.

We recently got married at the falls as it's been one of our favourite places to come for years now. Roisin and all of the bar and waiting staff did such an exceptional job of our wedding meal and celebrations in the tea room after our ceremony. They went above and beyond to make sure our day was so special and we can't thank them enough. Our guests are all still talking about how great the food was and all of the rooms are lovely too. The bar have their own branded gins and a whiskey which were delicious and made lovely favours for our guests. We'll continue to visit once or twice a year as we like nothing better than getting a summer drink from bar and relaxing out on the rocks in front of the Inn. Such a beautiful place and so special to us 🥰

Visited The Falls of Dochart Inn for dinner yesterday and was very disappointed. Ordered the burger, which at £20, expected to be homemade but certainly didn't look or taste homemade nor did the fries. The customer service wasn't much better. The staff seemed as if they didn't want to be there apart from the lady behind the bar who at least had a smile on her face! Only consolation my dog seemed to enjoyed her doggy dinner.

Fabulous place! Visited twice for drinks and meals whilst away on holiday staying at a local caravan site. Following a bad experience elsewhere in town we found the staff here to be so pleasant and friendly, and the meals were great and not overpriced! Scottish restaurant
Stravaigin, a restaurant with a name derived from an old Scots word meaning "to wander aimlessly with intent," offers gourmet dishes made from unconventional ingredients like grey squirrel, hedgerow herbs, and sea urchins. Since its opening in 1994, the restaurant has been known for its experimental flavors and sustainable sourcing of local and global ingredients.
We got caught in the rain during our visit of the Glasgow university buildings, and just picked a spot that was nearby. It turned out to be a very positive surprise as we came along this lovely Scottish restaurant. It was a bit crowded but luckily we got a table and enjoyed some amazing dishes and drinks. It is a bit more on the pricy side, however you get amazing dishes for your money and very attentive service.
Tamás M — Google review
We had a reservation at Stravaigin last night for a business dinner during a work trip to Glasgow. One of our guests was travelling with their dog, and according to the website, dogs are welcome on the ground floor. Since there’s a quiet and comfortable area downstairs that seemed suitable for a business meal, we made our booking with a clear note stating that we’d be bringing a dog and that it was a business occasion. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were told that our table had been booked upstairs—where dogs aren’t allowed. When we pointed this out, the staff checked and confirmed that our note had indeed been included in the reservation, but it had simply been overlooked. Mistakes happen, and we understand that. However, by the time we arrived, there were no free tables left in the quieter area on the ground floor. Instead of making an exception and allowing the dog upstairs in light of their own mistake, we were asked to wait and were eventually seated in the very loud pub area. It was far from suitable for a professional conversation. Sorry Stravaigin, but we communicated everything clearly in advance—both the business context and the presence of a dog. If that information is ignored, the customer shouldn't have to bear the consequences. A customer-focused solution would have been the right thing to do. Based on this experience, I can’t recommend Stravaigin for business dining or for situations that require flexibility or accountability.

After a recommendation form a friend my husband and I went here for lunch. We were up in Glasgow visiting family. The food was absolutely fantastic and really tasty. We will definitely be coming here again next time we are up.

What a great experience visiting Stravagin! Food and team were stunning. We had a table for three tucked high in the mezzanine… we all loved that location and will be asking to be sat there again. 2 of our party ate from the Sunday roast menu… for starters… soup of the day which was extremely flavourful, and seared cauliflower with hazelnuts and curry leaves… I highly recommend this dish it was delicious! These were followed by the roast rump of beef, which was tender and cooked to perfection, and all the accompanying vegetables cooked perfectly, special mention for the hispi cabbage … and the onion purée. Our other diner chose the a la carte menu… grilled sardines to start cooked to perfection.., followed by a loin of venison cooked to perfection. We forced ourselves to have dessert…none of which disappointed. Fantastic crème brulle, and a velvety chocolate cremaux, and i really enjoyed the quirky serving of Brie with brioche and onion chutney. Can’t wait to return to this gem of a Glasgow restaurant again soon. Well done to all the team.

Could not recommend highly enough! We booked the cellar for our wedding celebration and from the first contact, everything has been perfect! Jade was so lovely and helpful in helping us get everything sorted before it - nothing was too much trouble. On the day, Olivia got the room ready for us and it was perfect and ensured we had everything we needed all night. The food was incredible and all our guests loved it - everyone kept talking about the mussels!! But what made our night truly special was the staff! The service was absolutely brilliant! The cherry on the cake was the gigantic tiramisu for dessert which was amazing! We can’t wait to be back! Thank you again for everything 🩷

Amazing food, we went there for a birthday celebration. The muscles were super fresh, great pork belly and probably the best haggis we've ever tried. Our server was super helpful in making our choices without being pushy for any item. I only have one thing to fault the restaurant, and it's that they didnt put on the menu that there was an added 10% service charge. We would have left a tip otherwise. However, really good experience overall.
Alberto M — Google review
Tried out Stravaigin after being recommended and it did not disappoint. Had the mussels with the red sauce and it was the best part of the meal . Had some starters and haggis which unexceptional. Was a bit disappointed in the ice cream of the day - it was an oat meal cream with an oat biscuit, not the best combination but probably a poor choice of dessert on our part . Great selection of whisky , with a whisky menu which I believe is new . They didn’t have the whisky I wanted but the staff were kind enough to recommend one and even price match to the one I had initially asked for! I’ll definitely be coming back to try more of their menu . Great interiors btw

Stravaigin truly delivers on its motto: “Think global, eat local.” The food was outstanding - creative, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. I was especially surprised by the attention to detail in even the simplest dishes. The green side dish, in particular, stood out - perfectly cooked and bursting with flavour. It’s rare to see such care put into every element of the meal.

Kelvingrove Park, located in Glasgow's West End, is a popular destination for walkers, cyclists, and runners. Established in 1852 by renowned gardener Sir Joseph Paxton, the park sits along the River Kelvin and borders the famous Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery. Visitors can enjoy various activities within the park including a skate park, bowling and croquet greens, as well as interesting landmarks to explore.
Park is massive, and something for everyone. They have good size playing area for young children. They also have toilets 🚻 which is a rarity now a day's. Plenty of seat/ benches along the way. Despite the cold, rainy, and windy weather, our visit to Kelvingrove Park was unforgettable. The entire place felt like a living piece of history—every corner seemed to whisper stories of the past. The rain only added to the magic; historic buildings seemed to dance under the drops, and the moody sky gave everything a poetic charm. It was one of those rare experiences where even bad weather couldn’t ruin the beauty—it actually made it even more special. A must-see in Glasgow, rain or shine.

A large beautiful park in the city of Glasgow. It has flower beds, fountains, skatepark, bandstand, bowling green, croquet area, ponds, and children's play areas. The River Kelvin runs through the park. There are lots of benches so you can easily find somewhere to relax, listen to the bird song, and watch the world pass by. There is good access for people who use a wheelchair. The paths are wide and hard surfaced. Some are steep, but it is possible to find an alternative route. There are lots of maps, but some of these are up too high for a wheelchair user to be able to easily read them. You can walk your dog here.

Park was super busy today, and it was great in the sunshine! We sat and chanted some mantras and my toddler dragged me to the park 5 times! She absolutely loved it and there was so much to see! The Drovers Inn is a historic 18th-century stone lodging located at the top end of Loch Lomond in Inverarnan, Scotland. It was once used by Highland drovers herding their cattle to the markets and has an authentic, ancient feel. The inn offers a warm Highland welcome and features a buzzy bar with a stuffed grizzly bear. Despite its age, the rooms are spacious and clean, albeit slightly outdated.
We went to eat and food was great, you have to order in the bar (I guess is common in Scotland’s taverns) but they will bring it to your table. Nice and a place with a story (spooky ones). Definitely would recommend it. We came back the next day but there was a storm without electrical power, therefore there was no service 😕

Frustrated and Disappointed! We called the restaurant around 4 PM on a Sunday to book a table for 10. During the call, I mentioned we were driving back to Edinburgh and wanted to stop for dinner. I specifically asked if haggis was available, and the gentleman confirmed it was. He also mentioned they serve Sunday roast. Knowing that roasts often run out by mid-afternoon, I assumed they had a second round and felt relieved to have found a good spot. After a two-hour drive in heavy rain, we arrived, only to be told we needed to order at the bar. We tried to order three Sunday roasts and three haggis dishes, but were informed they had run out. I was shocked—I asked again, explaining that I had called earlier and was told these items were available. It turns out they had sold out at lunchtime, and the staff member who gave me the information had already left. This was extremely frustrating. We had visitors who had never tried authentic haggis, and if we’d been told the truth earlier, we could have made other plans. By then, it was 6:30 PM, we were exhausted, and still had a two-hour drive ahead, so searching for another place wasn’t an option. We ended up settling for burgers and mac & cheese—dishes I could make better at home. The only positive was the generous portion sizes. As an apology, the bar staff didn’t charge us for two beers and two Archer & Lemonades, which we appreciated. However, overall, the experience was disappointing and not what we had hoped for.

Excellent experience for the second time. Thank you all for this welcome and these fair and perfect dishes. A moment suspended in a simply magical environment and a more than surprising place. I won't say more, just GO THERE!!! The surprise is huge!! Gracias enorme à todos. Mantente tú mismo. 🥰👍🙏

After walking 10 hours on the West Highland Way, absolutely exhausted and starving, we headed to The Drovers – the only option anywhere near us – expecting at the very least some basic hospitality. Instead, we were told the kitchen was “exhausted” and that we couldn’t be served because we weren’t staying there and hadn’t booked. This was at 7pm – hardly late, and in a place that must know walkers rely on it after long days. We ended up having crisps for dinner. That’s right – crisps, in a supposed hotel and restaurant. No attempt to offer us even the most basic food like chips, soup, or sandwiches. Nothing. For a business in this location, to turn away hungry walkers in need of a meal is not just poor service – it’s downright inhumane. What made it even worse was sitting outside later and watching another couple wander in and get served food without issue. There was no question of a booking or if they were staying, So clearly, the kitchen wasn’t “exhausted” at all – it was just a case of whether your face fit. That kind of treatment is insulting, unfair, and shows zero regard for guests or passing trade. The Drovers trades heavily on its reputation and location, but based on our experience it fails completely where it matters most: basic hospitality, decency, and honesty. For anyone walking the West Highland Way, don’t rely on this place to look after you unless you’re one of their chosen few.

Visitors can explore its museum, which delves into the house's history, the area, Roman occupation, and real-life events that inspired Outlander.
Well this was a surprise. A french chateau owned by the council in Falkirk. We only popped in for a coffee but stayed for a look around the house and gardens, and it's free. Fascinating history and well looked after by friendly staff. Good cafe with gluten free cake in amazing surroundings.

Visited again yesterday as a must do when in Falkirk. Excellent service from the staff with great historical exhibits from the Falkirk area from Roman times right through to recent times.

Couldn't believe this place was free entry! Beautiful historic house with nice museum displays, ranging from local history to the industrial revolution, and the displacement of people around the world by Soviet Russia. Beautiful grounds around the site also, including woodlands, a small loch, and lots of fun for children as well.

What an amazing place to visit and not far from Glasgow. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the tearoom was excellent and reasonably priced. We will go back again. There is No Entry Fee and parking is also free. Beautiful house. Didn't take many photos, sorry.

Beautiful mansion house. It has free access. It has exhibitions of works and history. At Christmas they put a gigantic Christmas tree very beautiful its gardens are very beautiful, with its forest and his lake with swans. And close to one side of the park is a very nice playground. Also for bikes there is a fairly large jumping area.

If I move to Scotland...I blame the Forth Inn! Where to begin!?!?! They pride themselves on winning Dog Friendly Pub of the Year! My people! All Scottish beers ON TAP! The food, the food! Wow! The lentil soup was the most flavorful I've ever had, warms the belly and fed my soul! The salmon and prawns how did they do it! I wanted to lick the plate! Tip of the hat to the chef! On to the Inn... Located in the heart of Aberfoyle. Amazingly friendly people and staff. The rooms are just lovely, cozy, clean, warm. They are updated and the beds are comfy, fresh linens. There's even a beautiful communal library/coffee room with elegant woodworking. The function room behind the bar is something to peek at if you get a chance! The building is steeped in history! Can't comment on rooms as we only popped in for a meal. Service was friendly and we didn't have to wait long to be served. I choose the chicken stuffed with haggis and the waitress informed me that this would take up to 30min to prepare, which was fine by me. Hubby went for steak pie. Both meals were cooked beautifully and my chicken dish was very tasty indeed. Only small downside for us was our table was very sticky! Other than that nice place with plenty outside seating if you wish to dine or drink alfresco.

Very friendly and helpful staff who helped us with safe and dry space for bikes. Stayed for three nights and ate there twice - very tasty evening meals with super light beer batter for the fish and a delicious salmon and pasta dish. Agree with some reviews that some features of the rooms were a little tired but cleanliness not an issue. Thanks again guys, lovely last night playing scrabble and listening to peat and diesel!

The staff are pretty casual, it is hard to distinguish them from customers, they are also pretty casual with the way they speak to the customers as well. That being said, we did not have a reservation and were lucky to get a table as they turned a number of people away even though there were empty tables for our entire time there, though they had reserved signs on them. We had a great meal that was delicious and filling.

Very comforting atmosphere, the staff were very friendly and they're more than happy to have dogs. Plenty of treats for your furry friend. Also the food was quite tasty, big portions! Did get a little drafty if you're near the door, but a very warm and welcoming atmosphere, popular with the locals.

We didn’t actually stay at the hotel but we did hold our wedding meal and evening in the large function room on 17 September 2021 which was amazing. Lee and all of the team at the forth inn were fantastic, my wife and I could not have asked for it to be any more perfect and all of our guests had an amazing time. We rolled in after visiting Katrine around 18:00 pm. The parking lot was empty and saw reservations were required. We decided to give it a shot and knocked on the front door anyway. We were warmly greeted by owner/chef, Jason who welcomed us inside, started a fire, and made three amazing plates for my friends and me. Sous chef, Dave (sweet pup) provided lively company, and we enjoyed delicous meats and veggies and good conversation.
Amanda M — Google review
This place is mental.. It was recommended to me by a friend back in 2015 and last week we were "finally" in the area and I suggesting going there to our group of friends. BIGGEST mistake I made in years! Don't get me wrong, the place looked quite unique and I really appreciated the looks. It's got decorations, a fire place, basically it felt authentic and welcoming - probably the reason why we stayed there instead of leaving... But it was also pretty cold inside, we were seated right besides the toilet on the other end from the fireplace, and the place was pretty much empty - on a Saturday night. This should have been a red flag right there. We asked for drinks but they ran out of red wine and only had 1 glass of white wine left. I ordered beer instead, they only had bottle Corona, for a price of £6 per bottle! Note, the price wasn't written anywhere and we were not given any menu. The chef came to us to tell the menu (I requested a paper option, wanted to see the prices, but he said they didn't have one) for the night was, we were given options from 2 dishes, all fire roasted. He was recommending the chicken dish and since one of my friends was a vegetarian we chose the vegetarian option for him. We had to wait around an hour for the food to actually come and by that time I was wondering whether I should even eat due to how late it was getting... When the food came I changed my mind, it was one of the smallest portions I've seen! There was a few vegetables, some cheese and a small piece of chicken wrapped in ham. My vegetarian friend got exactly the same - just no chicken! He was angry not getting actual protein-based food but was at least happy that we won't have to pay much, I mean it's just some veggies yeah? The bill came, £92 for 3 people, which is for 3 dishes and 3 drinks (2 bottled beers and 1 hot chocolate). I double checked the vegetarian option and to my surprise, it was exactly the same, £25 per portion. You must be out of your mind to charge £25 for a mushroom, a carrot, a potato, some pepper, some onion and a bit of cheese!! I am sorry, but this is a tourist scam place, you should be ashamed for doing what you're doing, basically profiting from people that are in the area and are not aware of what kind of place is this. Btw the owner was quite ok, he was energetic, chatty and friendly. Although at times it was a bit too much to handle, in the end we just wanted to be left alone due to his directness and awkwardness.. Edit: added the photo as proof of "how packed it was" on the saturday night. Can also see the hot chocolate on the wall was £5, mains were £25, the beer price isn't shown on the wall and no drinks menu provided to show this EVEN on their website, don't believe me - go and check. I also cannot show you the receipt since I wasn't provided one, because the place had to internet, I even had to pay them by a bank transfer as opposed to through the register since their machine wasn't working either. Also downvoted to 1 star due to the owner being rude instead of accepting their fault and apologising. Ah, of course you don't sell carrots, I just noticed that the vegetarian option is only potatoes, tomatoes and mushroom, which is even worse...

Not open during published open hours. We tried to call in for a drink at 1 pm as a halfway stop on our hike on 10.10.24. The lights were on, the radio blaring and a dog barking, but no one answered. There was no closed sign, and their website said it was open, so we rang both website numbers to see if it was due to open soon - no answer. It seems it's not a place to pop in for anything without notice!

Jason entertained us with the upmost professionalism that after he allowed us to stay in there car park we decided to stay three nights the place was that unique If your visiting Scotland and want a warm welcome, a relaxed atmosphere cracking delicious food come here Thank you Jason and Sharon and good luck We will see you in November

Yes, it's a quirky and unusual pub slightly off the beaten track. Check out the London Red Routemaster bus (Night route 29 to Camden!) parked outside... and yes, the hosts are welcoming and friendly. I liked the pub (having been once before around 2009 when it had a previous ownership). I only stopped for a drink and didn't eat. I enjoyed my low-alcohol cider, with a couple of frozen lime-slice ice cubes - a nice touch. But it was very pricey - £5 for a low-alcohol 500 ml bottle makes the cost of a soft drink £10 per litre! I think that's overpriced, when the average pub will serve a pint of normal cider (more than 500 ml) for around £4.50 to £5. A pity about the steep price of a non-alcoholic drink. I always expect some sort of mark-up, but this was overkill. Other aspects are good if you like rustic quirky pubs in a nice setting.

Luss Pier is a picturesque spot located in the charming village of Luss, easily accessible from Glasgow via the A82. Visitors can park at the Luss South carpark and take a leisurely walk along the Fairie trail, passing by the village church and enjoying scenic views of Loch Lomond. The pier offers stunning vistas of the lake, making it an ideal location to soak in nature's beauty.
Luss is an incredibly pretty village. Came here in 2016 for a daytrip. Liked it so much that we returned for four nights this time. Right in the middle of the village. Besides the beautiful village there's the Loch Lomond. A wonderful lake, great on sunny days but even more atmospheric on cloudy or even rainy days. And here from the Pier you get a great view. On the right there's a small Promenade with a bunch of benches and to the left there the beach with some BBQ spots close to the carpark. It's a pretty small village. Takes a few minutes to get from one end to the other. And still I can't get enough of it. If you do, think about taking a Loch Cruise. Several boats depart from here. Round Trips or One-way trips. Prices are really fair and it's a really nice thing to do. On sunny or rainy days. Or just grab some food at the Village shop and sit down at the pier area or on the beach to fully enjoy the spectacular views. Be sure to pay at the carpark. It's very strict here. And even it's packed with visitors (well, we're part of it), it's easy to see why. It's just a really pretty village with an amazing Loch location.

We wanted to visit Lake Lamond whilst in Glasgow. It's easy to get to from Glasgow via the A82. Luss is the place we stopped and glad we did. We avoided the bigger much busier car park and parked at the Luss South carpark (£1 per hour pay and display). Walked along the stream on the Fairie trail until we ended up at the village church and then at the loch and finally walked through the village. The entire place has lovely nature with great views. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in the area. It was a popular place on a weekend during summer holidays but not crowded. Wellies will be useful if you want to walk or splash in the shallow water. WARNING- Many cars parked along School Road (residential parking with permit holder signs) had parking tickets on them.

We parked in the Luss south car park and walked the 10 minutes down through the pretty village of Luss, to the pier. Despite not taking a boat trip out, we walked the length of the pier, which offered serene views over Loch Lomond & Ben Lomond. We also meandered up the beach either side of the pier, which was tranquil on a quiet weekday.

I'd say this is a paradise for photographers. So very beautiful. Though we went in summers, water was still very cold. There were ferries and some water sports options available.

The pier is nothing special in and of itself, but it was great to stroll through the quaint village and make our way along the scenic waterfront towards the gorgeous little church here.

I loved the vibe of the place. It was completely suitable for vegetarians and vegans. It was a lovely setting and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I had a Bean Burger with some apple cider and both were delicious. The burger was flavourful and full of a lot of leafy vegetables which was very different and enjoyable. Highly recommended. Thanks!

Reasonable selection of beers & ciders. Soundsystem is good but they failed to reorient the speakers to account for the smaller crowd at the show I attended. Stage is only a few inches above the ground. Toilets are big enough. There is a quieter area around the corner from the bar where you can chat without needing to shout. No smoking area, you just have to leave and come back in.

GREAT ATMOSPHERE WITH GOOD FOOD Was taken here on a Friday evening a couple days after new years. Arrived at around 7:30pm and there were a lot of tables available. Started getting a lot busier later on. I got the Colonel Chipotle burger which was recommended by one of the staff. It came with chips and coleslaw. Both were great quality and very more-ish. The burger was pretty good but honestly I like the sides a lot more. The burger patty was a little to thick for me. Still tasted great! The atmosphere is probably the best part of this place. It's in the sweet spot where it wasn't too busy or too quiet. They're also looked like there was a lot of events going on which I need to go back for! Would recommend going here if you're looking for a place with a decent meal and great atmosphere.

The food here was so so good! I could have eaten it all over again. Delicious kebab sandwhich- side of coleslaw and chips was perfect. They have boardgames behind the bar if you're so inclined, a great way to pass the time as your food is being put together. We enjoyed some rhubarb sodas along with our food, great for those who don't drink much but want something from the bar. Overall cool atmosphere and very friendly staff. Only thing that didn't match up was the toilets.. they sort of looked like they might at 4am with a crowded bar, though it was about 2pm when there.

No contest for the best vegan food in Glasgow! Everything they make is superb and all the staff are great. Lovely stay, brilliant Scottish breakfast, rooms were super clean... sparkling even! Our bedroom door was a little heavy to open but I think that was because they have put new carpets down... they were lovely and fluffy! Beds very comfortable! The times on Google are wrong though and not open Monday and Tuesday which was a shame as would have gone more. Out of the 2 pubs in Kippen it's the better one in my opinion. Definitely worth a visit

We have just returned home after a fabulous weekend at The Cross Keys in Kippen. The rooms are great as they are spacious and dog friendly. There is plenty of drinking space with indoor seats in 2 sections of the pub, and an enclosed outdoor garden at the back, with benches in the evening sun at the front. Great choice of beers, wines and drinks. THE FOOD HERE IS INCREDIBLE !! We had breakfast here twice and dinner, the food is really good. Great quality ingredients have been used and the food here is really really tasty . We had steamed muscles If you haven’t had Cullen skink before, definitely be sure to try that - a lovely creamy soup which tasted absolutely incredible and went really well with the steamed muscles. There is bread and butter which again is really nice tasting granary bread with lovely local butter. We also had some chicken bites which were really tasty. They were really really good. I would definitely recommend them. We didn’t have fish and chips, but I saw many of them going out especially with it being Friday and the portions are huge. They also looked really really tasty with big thick triple cooked chips. The beef burger and the chips are lovely very fresh. Everything was piping hot. The breakfast was equally incredible with fresh hot sausages potato gone haggis basically everything you need for a great Scottish breakfast. The whole place is dog friendly We had our dogs with us in the garden dogs with us in our bedroom and dogs with us at dinner and that breakfast . Ps the stick it off your pudding was absolutely phenomenal. It was a massive portion with lots of sauce exactly how I like it. I would definitely recommend this place. The service here is brilliant and the owner is just as lovely too. A great local pub ran by local people

What a great pub. Very busy and popular when we arrived on Friday night, with lots of tables reserved so I'd suggest planning your trip if there is a group of you. 9 Real Ale Handpumps and 1 cider. 7 of the Real Ales were on and all looked to be Scottish local beers. The pub itself is really nice and the staff was very friendly. The food was also pretty good ( I had a chicken haggis), but it was a shame they didnt have the full menu selection at the time (no burgers and no breakfast). Overall, still highly enjoyable

Soo many pubs in Glasgow can only do either good food or a mid drink selection/price, almost never botb. But The Bon Accord is my favourite for a reason.

Fyne Ales Brewery Tap & Shop is a family-owned microbrewery located on a farm, just a short drive from Glasgow. The small and cozy bar offers a friendly atmosphere with rustic garden furniture in the courtyard. Despite its shed-like exterior, the interior is inviting with a bar serving alcoholic and hot drinks, as well as food. There's an indoor eating area and a larger outdoor seating space with music playing through speakers.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is beautiful. Cold or not, sit out side and watch the light change over the surrounding hills. The outdoor space is lovely. The indoor space is nice but quite small. They have cask and keg beer. Snacks and bug repellent (for the height or the Scottish summer). There is also a bottle shop for take away with loads of options.

Excellent hospitality. Enjoyed a flight of ales in the bar and bought a box of mixed ales for the up and coming baby shower!! Will definitely call in next time we are passing

If you're heading towards Inveraray from Glasgow or Loch Lomond make sure you stop at Fyne Ales. It's a fabulous locally owned brewery and these guys make some of Scotland's most awarded beers. There's a bar and shop and it's a great place spend an hour or two and to learn about the brewing process and to sample their fermented barley water !!

Followed a sign from A83 for brewery. Didn’t know what to expect from the place. To my surprise staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We arrived few minutes after 6pm and we were served and guided in the right direction. Ale is delicious and it’s Real. You can buy a lot of different makes and brands there. It’s more like a pub or bar type. If you are looking for cheaper option I am afraid it won’t be the case. You can buy their ale from Supermarkets and it will be cheaper, however it might not be as fresh as it is from brewers.

We told a friend we were going to go to Campbell Town, and he told us to check out the this brewery. This place is beautiful and in an awesome location. The drive here is gorgeous as is the scenery that surrounds the brewery. I quote my wife when we walked in: “this place is really cute” It has a lot of cool things here and lots of beer. I got the Jarl and it was delicious. The ONLY thing I was not a fan of is the temp of the beer. I prefer beer to be cold. Was told beer is only 10 Celsius / 50 Fahrenheit, but a bit warmer now due to colder outside. It was not the end of the world for me, just a tad disappointing as I had to drink it quicker than normal, and not counting against score as it is a personal preference 😁 We also ordered the Venison nachos. It was very nice, spicy, and creamy at once. In other words it was super delicious. The staff here was super nice and friendly. Hoping we can stop back when we finish with Campbell Town.

Barrowland Ballroom is a renowned live music venue located in Glasgow, known for its vibrant atmosphere and rich history. With a capacity of 1,900 standing guests, it was once an actual ballroom with a sprung dancefloor. The venue has hosted a diverse range of artists from Ryan Adams to the Zutons and has been praised by big names like Metallica and Oasis.
First visit to this legendary venue. I have to say it is possibly the most well run I have ever visited. 1900 capacity, original building opened in 1934 , rebuilt after fire destroyed in 1958, reopened 1960. A venue of significant importance in my opinion and should be protected forever.

There is no better venue in the UK, there just isn't. It's a feeling. It's the atmosphere. It's the connection of artists and crowd. It's the perfect shape of the room. It's 2000 happy souls giving the artist back everything they are giving and elevating the shared experience. It's the artists themselves being blown away. It's why many artists record live gigs there. I've been lucky to have seen some amazing gigs there since early 90s, just go. Amazing
John M — Google review
I attended Bleed From Within’s first headline gig on Sunday 12th of October and the performances themselves were outstanding. I have to give the highest praise to the venue itself however. I may have enjoyed myself a little too much in numerous mosh pits and walls of death where I ended up losing my Garmin watch from my wrist! I realised after a few songs into the main event and accepted my fate that an expensive (to me) watch will have been kicked around in circle pits and will be long gone. I wasn’t going to wait after the final set - I just went home. I called the next day to ask if by any stretch it had been handed in or found. To my utter amazement - some little gothic legend handed it into security who kept it safe for me returning a few days later to collect it. Perfectly working as it was. Unbelievable. The staff, security, and my mutual goth/emo friends are all out of this world kind. Iconic venue in the country, which I’ve visited many a time before. But this blew me away. THANK YOU!

The Royston Club were playing and the Barrowlands was bouncing. Fantastic old venue with a real atmosphere and vibe. Gigs here are special, particularly when a band and crowd are up for it. The facilities are perfect for what you need and it's a must visit place, if you don't go to a gig here you're not doing it properly. Staff as well need some credit, friendly and observant. They make things go smoothly!

The Islay Inn, located in the trendy Finnieston district near Ben Nevis, is a traditional Scottish pub with a rich history. It draws a diverse crowd of locals, students, and tourists while staying true to its roots by offering live folk music and an extensive selection of whiskies. The pub hosts various entertainment events every night of the week, from quizzes to live bands.
Quaint pub, tasty food. Sunday roast was delicious with all the trimmings. Huge portions, great bang for your buck at £17pp. The gravy was delightful, I’ll be needing a boat of the stuff next time. Chill atmosphere, pleasant, unobtrusive service. Visited on a Sunday afternoon.

I had a wonderful time with my whisky flight. After finishing my flight, I ended with a Whisky Ol’ Fashion. Frank, I believe he was the owner, served the select flight to me. Himself and 3 other local whisky drinkers had made this selection of the four flights offered. Very good selection as you can see from the pictures below. Included is a picture of myself and Frank. GREAT liquor selection overall and the service is top notch!

Lovely down-to-earth pub in a great area of Glasgow. Friendly staff, reasonable drinks prices and tasty food. Came to show some friends visiting from abroad a Sunday roast and was impressed - tasty, big portions and good value. Plus a very decent vegetarian version. Would happily come back here whether for a drink or a bite to eat. NB you would definitely need to book if eating here on a Sunday afternoon/evening - was very popular.

Very nice staff, they had a wait but were able to get us a table quickly. Ale's were awesome after a long travel day in the rain, the Sunday pot roast dinner was great. Busy so a couple of our requests (water and dessert) were not attended to but all in all a great friendly place to gather. Thanks!

Nestled within the Cairngorms National Park, Lake of Menteith is a picturesque destination offering more than just stunning views. This is Scotland's only lake, and it boasts excellent fly fishing opportunities for rainbow and brown trout. The surrounding area features walking paths, ideal for leisurely strolls, as well as inviting picnic spots along the eastern shore where visitors can admire the local wildlife and serene aquatic plants.
Super! Very nice lake. The surroundings is beautiful. Lake is much bigger then it looks 😉

The only reason to see this lake is because of its unique name in Scotland where all other bodies of water are called lochs. Lake of Menteith is a quiet place for water sports, especially swimming. It isn’t easy to get close to the water other than a small woodland car park which allows a short hop across the road to the banks of Menteith. We didn’t stay too long but at least can say we’ve seen it!

We stayed in one of the newly refurbished A Frame Apartments, and from the minute we stepped in the front door the whole place was outstanding... The full width and height sliding doors do perfect justice to the incredibly beautiful lake and mountain views... We have been here many times and stayed in both the cabins and the apartments and we are always still astonished at how fantastic the view is... It changes from hour to hour and the wildlife is all around....the apartment itself is great with all mod cons and everything you need for your break... Nice personal touches such as the woodwork expertly carved and finished by Chris... All in all a fabulous place to stay and we cannot recommend it highly enough...

Scotland's only lake! Although... that's what people usually assume. There are, however, nine other "lakes" in Scotland. This body of water's alternative name is Loch Inchmahome, and until the early 19th century, its Scottish name was Loch of Mentieth. The lake is known for the ruins of Inchmahome Priory, the monastery where Mary, Queen of Scots, sought refuge in 1547.

We stopped here while we were visiting on our honeymoon and had a great time chatting with the locals. We stopped for cold drinks. It was unseasonably hot. Being American, mom wanted ice with her Coke. They served the ice in a Scottish beer glass that of course had a letter ‘T’ for the brand of beer. My mom wanted to buy it for my brother, Thomas, who couldn’t make the trip. Barkeep said it wasn’t for sale. We went outside to enjoy our beverages. The handsome gentleman at the table, on the computer (owner) came out and told my mom she could just keep it. He joked she could just slip it in her bag. Later, the young barkeep (son?) came out and told my mom she could keep it (sent by his dad?). Very good service. Sorry we missed the karaoke the night before. Maybe next time.

Loch Lomond Brewery is located in the heart of Scotland's most famous national park, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. They produce a range of high quality ales including Bonnie and Blonde, West Highland Way, and Sumatra Brown. Their beers are well-rated by beer lovers all over the world, making them an excellent choice for a Scottish brewery visit.
A proper, old school brewery and tap room. The server was friendly and helpful and the selection of beers on offer were great and are £5 each. There’s also a great selection of spirits and soft drinks. I’ve been drinking Loch Lomond beers for many years, so it was great to visit the heart of the company. The Wild Drover hazy IPA was my favourite. The adjacent beer shop is well stocked and core range beers at £2.80 each.

Not a huge drinker by any means, but when I do drink I like to try IPA’s & new trendy beers, I tried this one today from Loch Lomond Brewery & it was top notch! Freezing cold straight from the freezer, drank it in the back garden in the evening sun, a nice hearty beer with citrus hints & aftertaste throughout, everything down to the texture of the can was on another level, the perfect refreshment especially on a sunny evening, top class from Loch Lomond Brewery, right on the door step as well. Good job.

Dram is a lively and eclectic destination in Glasgow, known for its vibrant atmosphere and large screen sporting events. The bar features mismatched furnishings and a unique decor, creating a brashly youthful vibe. With four large rooms, it offers a wide range of beers and takes pride in its selection of 75 whiskies. Visitors can enjoy informal jam sessions on Thursday and Sunday nights with a brilliant mix of musicians and singers.
Decided I couldn’t be bothered cooking on a Saturday early evening so went to this pub. It’s local to me and I have been before. We ordered a pint and a large glass of wine. Kibble Palace is a stunning historical greenhouse situated in the heart of Glasgow Botanic Gardens. This popular public park is a beloved spot for both locals and visitors, offering a serene escape from the urban hustle. The gardens boast diverse flora from around the world, including species from South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, China, and Japan. Visitors can enjoy leisurely activities like picnicking or taking romantic strolls amidst this botanical paradise.
It gets very hot inside on warm sunny days (obviously), so I would recommend going on a cooler day. However, I still enjoyed it and it's free.

Kibble Place, one of the two botanical houses within the Glasgow Botanic Gardens, is one of the most recognizable buildings due to its striking white and tall dome, visible from far away. Inside, the climate is more moderate, almost identical to the outside. The greenhouse is vast and beautiful, with a spread-out flow that allows for a sense of freedom. Marble statues add a touch of Greek style to the space. The central dome, housing larger plants, is surreal and awe-inspiring. Overall, I highly recommend visiting Kibble Place and spending at least an hour exploring. It’s definitely worth your time, and there are plenty of opportunities to capture memorable photos. The best part? It’s free to enter!

Lovely place to visit, especially if you're within walking distance. Unfortunately there is only street parking, which is quite expensive. Through the Ringo App. The grounds are a nice place to chill on a hot afternoon. The glasshouses are very interesting and at least they are free or at least a donation. There is also a tea room which does some lovely food. A bit controversial as their scones are not true scones, that's not to say they weren't nice. They were more like fruit buns. It certainly doesn't detract from anything. Overall a lovely experience

If you want a informative excursion that is beautiful and free this is it! This building hold 1000's of different plant species which is beautiful on its own but its supplemented with architecture and art. Absolutely fantastic distillery tour. All the staff were very friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. A great tour from start to finish. The shop and tasting room are brilliant. It's just a short drive out of Glasgow and I highly recommend you pay it a visit if you're I the area.

A very professional winery experience and a great environment, but unfortunately the quality of the souvenir needs to be strengthened. We bought a cup and were not treated well. The quality was not ideal. As a winery that needs to be operated for a long time, you must be persistent in the quality. Please check it repeatedly if you buy any items.

Auchentoshan has always been one of my favorite scotches, so it was a no-brainer for me to visit during my stay in Glasgow. It was fairly easy to get to using public transport (a train from downtown to Dalmuir, followed by a 15-20 minute walk). I had a wonderful distillery tour with a full tasting experience, and picked up a couple of distillery cask bottles afterwards. It was a nice touch to be able to fill, seal, and label my own bottles! I look forward to opening the bottles on a special occasion. Will definitely return on my next Scotland trip!

We visited Auchentoshan today and enjoyed The Origin Tour in the company of a fantastic guide, Brian. Despite the distillery being in an extended silent season due to maintenance requirements, Brian made it a really enjoyable and funny experience with his anecdotes and humour. The hot toddy at the start of the tour was a lovely surprise on what was a chilly afternoon, and there were two great drams to sample at the end. What a great distillery, and great whiskies too!
John S — Google review
My first ever distillery tour. The very young guide, forgot his name (Bill, Ben or Bob 😂) was very helpful in making us understand the single malt origins and the making of this fine drink. I liked a lot also the lady at the reception who was very kind.

Received a warm welcoming at reception. A knowledgeable young man well versed in his craft led the ultimate tour on 11.09.25 at 14:00. Worth a visit.

Excellent tour from the lovely Helen. Just the right balance of educational and entertaining. Beautiful Stills and barrel store. We were also treated to a surprise souvenir. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Truly an amazing tour and tasting. Loved all the history and information. I went in NOT being a scotch drinker and left with a true appreciation for "good" scotch. Such a great experience!

On a Saturday night, Macnab's bar hosted a festive gathering with an exquisite vintage table setting adorned by beautiful candles. The steak, accompanied by peppercorn sauce, was flawlessly cooked to rare perfection, leaving no trace on the plate. The chips were of exceptional quality and tantalizingly delicious. A Johnny Cash tribute provided great entertainment while the atmosphere remained cheerful and relaxed, yet lively enough for dancing enthusiasts.
We had a delightful quick lunch at this lovely restaurant! The interior is very cozy. The menu selection is great, and all the dishes are tasty! We love Steak & Ale Pie! The host/server is very pleasant, friendly, and considerate! When we arrived, she asked if we were with a cruise and she went to the kitchen to confirm with the staff if they could accommodate. She ensured our orders were served quickly, and we made it back to our tour coach in less than an hour! We highly recommend Macnab's, and will definitely come back when we visit Scotland again!

Tasty, filling, affordable food with attentive service in a historic hotel. We recommend the Bangers and Mash and the Macaroni and Cheese (make sure you add Haggis).

🤮Nasty, zero flavor subpar not even sure I can even refer to it as "food". The only way they have this many stars is they had all their friends come on Google to put up fake reviews. Service was good and loved the bar doggy but still doesn't make up for the lack of food quality.
Katrina G — Google review
We went on a Saturday night for a festive get-together. The table setting was really gorgeous and vintage with lovely candles. I had the steak and peppercorn sauce which was cooked to perfection (rare) and I polished my plate off. The chips were delicious and really good quality. Johnny cash tribute was great too and the atmosphere was happy and relaxed but still a good few people up for a dance. We ended up back for breakfast the next day and the breakfast was great too, always good to get haggis and black pudding on your plate.

We arrived Saturday evening, It's a lovely bar, full of character and cosy spots. What was odd though and off-putting was that when we arrived there were only one of two other people and the staff had X factor playing on all TV's with sound on. The only people we saw watching it was the staff behind the bar and it was really distracting and ruined the atmosphere. It was odd and a real shame as we would have stayed there longer. But again lovely bar, with lovely character and drinks.

Welcoming bar, lovely cosy pub decor and atmosphere, great bar staff. Tracy is the name of the bar tender whilst visiting and she was very friendly and accommodating. Would recommend a visit if in the area.

Monkey Island Cafe Bar is a perfect spot for a day trip, especially after a cruise with Sweeney Cruises. It offers fantastic service and is located next to the canal, providing a great view of passing boats. Whether you're looking to enjoy a sunny afternoon with drinks or have a cozy glass of wine, this place comes highly recommended for families and anyone seeking relaxation.
The converted shipping container made it a perfect spot to relax after six days of bike packing. Their cocktails and variety of beers and wines were exactly what we needed to unwind. The Aussie Chicas were incredibly friendly and attentive, adding a great laugh and a Scots like hospitality to the final leg of our journey. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!

Very quiet pub at the time I was there. I'm guessing it's just mostly locals. There is only food on the weekends.

What a lovely surprise if a pub, very professionally run and Heather and the staff are brilliant, lovely clean pub, well stocked and 35 ml what's not to like. Very good atmosphere with the group playing domino's and the pool table, we where in for the first time last Saturday and absolutely loved Jamie singing in there, came back today to enjoy the live music live and was told its not on anymore, so disappointed for whatever reason you decided against Jamie coming back. Still you are a fab pub, five stars if you get the music back on. Well worth a visit.
