Bicycle is recommended to visit the park. Cover yourself with UV protection. Sun glasses, hats are needed when you set your foot into the park. One word of warning! I saw a rattle snake crossing the pavement today. So be careful! They won't attack you unlythey felt threatened! A good place to get in contact with the nature.

This park is lovely. I saw so many white birds in a tree at Egret Lake that from a distance it looks like flowers. Bring water as I didn't see anywhere you could refill a water bottle (but I could have missed it). Lots of families and I'd think it would be a great place with a bike - esp if you started along the coast as there is a dedicated bike lane most of the way here

The forest park is situated near Taitung Ocean park and it is well connected to public transportation. Forest Park has major two entry and exit points and Park is full of nature-dedicated trails with ponds, greenish vegetation, beaches. It is the perfect park for relaxing and it will take you close to nature. The park is expanded by approximately 10km with different vegetation and trails are designed in unique and adventurous ways that will keep you three hours busy in exploration. You can rent the battery or manual bicycle for a ride in the park and that is available at affordable prices in nearby shops. The park has a restroom at various locations and the complete information is highlighted in the Park in bilingual languages. But there are no restaurants in the Park or water dispensers or vending machines.

It's definitely a must visit. I didn't have much anticipation at first. But the ride and the scenery meditate my mind. Tips: Make sure to rent an ebicycle. As the park is huge. Cycle will be hard to cover everything.

This place is so big and good for spending time with your friends and family. Also, you are able to rent a bike to go around this area. I did enjoy being with my family there. BTW you have to pay the entrance fee before you get inside.

Another very famous restaurant that is located in Taitung! As I have never tried the rice noodles before so I was kind of looking forward to it when I went. It wasn't so crowded when I arrived, still have some empty tables there. The wait wasn't too long. Got my food pretty fast, but all is self service where you order and pick your food at the counter. The food is good and it is not so expensive. Overall it is a good experience

The noodle soup and side dishes are delicious, it’s half-service and the environment is clean. I love their chili, not too spicy but smell good. I would recommend this place for a quick bite.

We came for lunch close to 2pm on a weekday and it was not very crowded. The environment is clean and like the dining experience in an old shop setting. The serving is large, a small bowl is more than sufficient for a moderate eater. Taste of the noodle is not bad and the side dishes are delicious. There seems to be many restaurants selling the same type of noodles in the city center, didn’t have a chance to try others so couldn’t compare how good is this one.

A Must-Try restaurant if you are in Taitung. You can see the crowd in front of the shop, don’t give up, they gone pretty fast so even though it’s long queue but you won’t wait too long till deliciousness 🤤 The famous noodle is made by rice, it’s thicker than the normal one, dried and soup available, highly recommend side dishes too. Noodles are so tasty and juicy with pork stock and veggies in it. The place runs for almost more than 30 years, serving these noodles at this price. Now comes the trickest part of their restaurant - the sides, which bring their main business, a bit pricy but super tasty and delicious. We tried the chciken sausage for $ 100ntd. Only available on Friday & Saturday. Compared to Raohe night market, you can said it is smaller in scale. However, it has most of the food variety which you normally find in night market. And it seemed Taitung folks really like Western food on grill a lot and it has long queue.

Well, if we are talking about night markets this is quite a small one compared with other night markets in Taiwan. The stalls are not too many as well, hence the choices are very limited too But there are many signatures old stall there like the stinky taufu etc Overall it is not bad.

Honestly its a great nightmarket. Much much better than Hualien’s. Locals are happy. Friendly. Patient. Good vibe. Good food. Beautiful people.

I liked this market more than the one in Hualien. I feel they have more variety of food (or maybe they just have more food that's to my liking 🤷‍♀️). There's outdoor seatings available, though they might be specific to certain stalls. Lots of games, the feeling is quite festive.

Small night market but the food variety are good thou. The biggest stall in the night market here is the steak, omelette and smelly tofu stall in the middle. Taitung is famous for their Custard apple. Their custard Apple taste very sweet. Price is definitely cheaper. The night market have one stall selling dessert. Their egg tart and cream puff taste quite good thou.

Crowded on a Saturday evening. Smelly tofu with herbal soup was really hearty and comforting, which was perfect for a cold rainy day. There were also pork chop and the usual oyster omelette.

The place consists of two main rows of shops, instead of the usual food stand you find at night markets, most of these sell handmade works of art, ranging from accessories to sculptures. There are usually performers playing music in the background. There are also cafes not too far from this main walkway. It’s nice to come in the evening after 8, when it’s not too busy. The downside is that most of the shops would be getting ready to leave for the night.

This place open after 6pm. We were there early but most stalls has yet to open. But the ambience here is really nice. The stalls here sells artistic stuff or self made items which is a suitable place to find gift for your love ones. They also have live band here for you to chill out.

The musical selection is diverse and captivating, the bar is cozy and relaxing, and the overall vibe of the village and street market is just unbeatable. Definitely a place you need to check out for yourself if you’re in Taitung and make sure to bring your friends along too!

This is an interesting area part of the urban redevelopment of the Japanese-era trackworks. Unfortunstely, the area was undergoing major construction works and most spaces were inavcessible

Went there twice, once during the day and once at night. Obviously, there's not much to see here during the day, but the atmosphere at night is mesmerizing. There was a live musician by the purple Christmas tree at the front of the road and there were quite a few people visiting although it's low season and a lot of the stalls weren't open that day. There's a selection of handicraft such as scented candles to choose from and you'll find a place to sit down and have a beer. The lanterns look lovely at night and give the place a special charm.

This place is in Taitung city located along a wide boulevard within a.huge garden. Good for strolls and coziness. On weekends, local artists display their handicrafts and artworks for sale. There are also buskers performance as well. Also some restaurants operate there serving normal fares. Overall this is anice place to visit if you are in Taitung city. The sun and weather brightens you up from Oct onwards. Bright sunshine, beautiful clouds, stunning flowers, cool wind blowing and the sea view from the mountain is stunning.

Nice place to visit to see colorful mini hot air balloon art. You can walk around to take pictures. Sometimes they have different music events here so check the schedule to see what's happening. It looks different at night when the lights are on.

There are visitor centers, shop that selling nice souvenirs and delicious different flavors of ice cream,clean restrooms,camping areas,and seaside trail park.Must visit in Taitung County, Taiwan and experience the magnificent landscape created by the changes in the ocean and the erosion of the ocean for thousands of years creating spectacular tofu rocks and honeycomb rocks that attract the attention of travelers like me. If you love natural wonder of nature you will surely enjoy it.

great place to look at the coast and the pacific ocean. they've got all sorts of interesting looking rocks as a result of erosion over the years. they also have a few high points to view the coast. there's also a few stores selling souvenirs, ice cream and some other stuff. nice place to visit if you enjoy looking at the ocean. they have a trail to walk along and also can walk along the Rocky coast if you choose to.

It's about a 20min bicycle ride from the city here. The ride isn't exactly scenic but it's convenient. You can also stop at the forest park on your way. It was cloudy on the day I went, I'm sure that makes a difference, so the view was so so. There were a couple of families playing hide and seek around the rocks, other than that there were few people. Further up North are a couple more scenic spots so it makes sense to spend a day or so in the area. There is no entrance fee.

We planned for the quick stopover to check out this place, and we spent almost 1.5 hours and we wish we can spend more time here if we could. This is a beautiful place, and my kids were enjoying rock climbing/ jumping, watching small fishes, crabs and lizards in between the rocks. Love this!!!

This place is just off the High Road and offers scenic view of the sea and nice space to sit in the shade. Oh yes and toilets!!! Good space to let the kids run around not many people.

As mentioned by others, it is a small scenic park to stop at (there is a parking lot) if you are on the road between Taitung and Hualien. The view of the ocean and the mountains is quite nice and there is no entry fee. The whole East coast is lovely, so if you are in a rush, I recommend checking all view points on Google Maps in advance in order to choose which one you would like to visit the most as it is actually a long ride between both cities.

Interesting and quirky sculptures, but nothing particularly amazing. Terrific views of the ocean and mountains, but similar to other locations in this part of the island. Definitely worth a stop if you happen to be passing by, but I wouldn't make a special trip.

The quality of the food has decreased so much over the years that the price they ask is not worth anymore a meal here. It used to be a high lever dim sum restaurant but now the squid cake has sweet corn inside, which means it officially became a lower level taiwanese restaurant. Service was pretty bad too, waiting staff was cold and non-caring.

The service was good. The restaurant is clean, including the toilet. Some food were delicious but there are some which I think are a bit too salty for my taste. So why you charge the same burger price as some Taipei places who has higher costs and bigger size. Still, subjectively, but taste of burger and meat is very average. But IMHO. —- 1. (It is not only us, there was a person next by who did the same) guys - why you don’t write that fries is included to the burger? You make people to order another fries for 150 NTD. 2. Very small burger for 260-280 NTD. It is the price of Taipei. 3. Burger average taste, not bad - but 6/10 max (!). 4. First time comment like that - very strange taste of ice - we didn’t finish our Coke coz of that. Check how you make your ice. But what make me nuts is point 1. It seems more like cheating. We found this place on Google maps and heard their burgers and pizza were great. We didn’t see pizza on the menu, which was kind of a let down. It’s a small place and they have posted rules about how long you are permitted to stay, the minimum order, etc. One cool thing is that they have a special place for a person who is eating solo. Take #1 has a crescent shaped seating nook for a single. I thought that was neat. There’s a little library with Mandarin language Harry Potter books. Kind of ironic given the time restraint, but endearing nonetheless. The burger and fries were good and the presentation was photo worthy. Perfect restaurant for a group date or solo diner.

Finally got to try this place traveling through Taitung. Great service, very friendly and helped us with a reservation at the last moment on a holiday night. For a foreigner with limited mandarin, it was nice to order in English. The atmosphere is chill and a great vibe. The food was as good as the service and atmosphere. This who got burgers loved them, I enjoyed the refried bean taquitos. Highly recommend this place!

We went to this place after a three day biking trip from Hualien. The dinner was a perfect finish to the trip. The burger and the pizza are both great - and not many restaurants managed to do both well. Will come back again next time in Taitung.

Amazing find, a small cafe with some great food and drinks. We had the pizza and a burger and we’re not disappointed. Not your average burger / pizza. All homemade from scratch with passion. Each set meal came with a bowl of soup, rice, seared tuna sashimi, and small sides. Be aware that there is no elevator to the 2nd floor, where the bathrooms are located.

Cute decor and food was pretty good. Meals are a bit pricey though (~300 for a set meal). They also charge a 10% service fee though.

The structure and designing of the building is to honor the archaeological discoveries. There are places for children to play and craft room to make souvenirs. Buses and trains are limited, so plan ahead if you are taking public transportation.

Well worth a visit! I quite enjoy anthroplogy but we had children with us. I like how it wasn't too big that it would take up your whole day and the museum had many child inclusive programming. The kids love the interactive exhibits and the Aboriginal programming was really well done.

It's a little out of the way but I enjoyed our time here. It's a huge property for kids to run around and to explore. I love the silly drawings all over the museum. The exhibits are nicely displayed. It wasn't crowded at all, but we came on a weekday. There is a kid's area with some toys.

Complete transformation of the museum post-COVID. The displays of Austronesian culture are amazing, both in the objects themselves but also in the stories that are told. Contemporary contributions and challenges to these communities are presented with thoughtfulness and respect. A must see museum. The only downside is that is is located far from any public transportation so you will need to taxi, bike or drive; its kind of out in the boonies!

Fascinating exhibits on Taiwanese and Austronesian prehistory. Definitely worth a visit. Not very convenient to visit if you don't have a personal vehicle though.

I was very impressed by the museum! Both by the building itself and by all the information available. It covers Taiwanese history from 30.000 years ago all the way to 400 years ago, with 2 dedicated sections for the human side and environmental side of things. It also has a section for international historical sites and austronesian history. I would definitely recommend it to any english speaking tourists in the area. One thing to note: if you plan on using google maps to find your way there with a bycicle, it will guide you to the back of the building where the wheelchair accessible lift is located to access the onsite restaurant for some reason. The entrance is on the other side of the building, just in front of the massive parking space.

Interesting place for learning about tribes that lived on this land before the indigenous peoples of the area who survive today. The exhibition was small but interesting, although it was missing some connection to present day indigenous tribes or the connection in the translated content wasn't clear. The grounds are very nice for walking around though and the recreations of living spaces are very interesting. I would recommend also going to the National Museum of Prehistory to get more comprehensive understanding and context.

Came in the morning of weekday, the whole park was very quiet, there were some people jogging. The museum inside opens at 9 am, so we did not get to go inside.

We still have some time to stay around Taidong so we tried to look near by place from train station. This place surprised me. Very great place to take you kids or dogs to run around and kill the energy! Highly recommended! No need to buy entry and here are some culture art center and architecture to see and the best part is the sit on the swing and do nothing, just enjoy the breeze!

Nice cultural site of the indigenous people that lived here years ago. the entire site is quite big and you can just relax and walk around. there is also a museum you can go in and the ticket is only 30 ntd. lots of parking and it's free. wasn't busy at all when I went on a weekday.

This was a fun little surprise, right by the train station. It's nice to see something (pre-order)historical that actually relates to the island's history, not the republic of China's history. It's nothing huge or overwhelming, but a nice 30 mins stroll right by the train.

Fun visitiors centre at the site of the oldest archeological finds in Taiwan, with replicas of different structures from various eras alongside the excavations. The highlight is the oldest free standing megalith in Taiwan, still vertical after 3500 years

A small museum. There was an exhibition on two indigenous artists in the main building. Different sculptures are displayed outdoors at various parts of the museum, incorporated as part of the landscape. There are two cafes and some shops in the premise.

Its a modest museum but I really enjoyed the few hours I spent there. The coffee and gift shop are very nice. Everyone I interacted with was very kind and helpful.

Definitely worth a visit.

AmaIng exhibition on stop motion on Joss paper, a great way to spend some time between dropping off our rental car and catching the ferry to green island. The staff here are also incredibly friendly, I had a great time talking with one of them about the exhibition and shared similarities across our cultures. They even called a taxi for us so we could get to Fugang harbor, as Uber isn't used in Taitung and there aren't many taxis outside of the train station.

We really had great time here during the design week. The beautiful installation to show case artists works like wonder. Museum is small, but perfect for solo show. Love the light and architecture.

Love the complimentary drinks at the entrance of the store for customers. This store has everything, like Ai Mai, but is a bit smaller. It’s a place where they truly sell everything! And they have lots of great food too! Kind of like a Walmart, but Asian with higher quality and more speciality goods and diversity in products at great prices. They have clothes, tools, camping gear, cookware, packaged foods, fresh groceries, ready made foods, gifts, backpacks, shoes, appliances, sports gear, the list goes on. Found these Sanrio glutinous rice blocks imported from Japan that turn into chewy soft mochi when heated. They taste especially good in hot pot and have a character print with edible colouring on each one making it cute and fun to eat too. They sell speciality foods from all over world, like from France to Italy to Japan and more. You really can find almost anything here. There were these interesting pizza crackers too! It’s like a place of adventure to shop and discover new products. If you need souvenirs, food, supplies, and gifts, this is the one stop shop for all of it.

When one needs a home-grown shopping experience, come to Carrefour. Clean and organized.

Grocery store and department store all in one. Has free underground parking. You have to wait before going up or down the ramp for the attendant to give the all clear because it is one direction at a time. Prices seem comparable to other stores. They accept my foreign credit card for all payments. There is a sushi shop at the exit. This is our usual shopping destination in Taitung.

The collection of canned and preserved foods is impressive. I was able to get good stuffs that other Carrefour branches do not carry. However, the store layout is kinda confusing. Make sure you grab a basket/ cart with you when you enter the store. No spare basket/ cart inside. I had to go back to the entrance to get one.

Came here to find 牛肉面, was not disappointed. Amazing variety of groceries n even take-aways.

Very nice market. Its crowded. But I loved the vibe. Loved the food. I had duck head, taro balls and chicken feet and 2 differents sausage. From 4 differents stands and all was very very good.

Quite an interesting and extraordinary experience for anyone who visits tytoon just go for the Sunday night Market because it's on Sunday. It has a different flare and energy. It's once in a week and locals go there for having fun.

Nice burger place to stop in on your way through the east coast. Good prices, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The fries there were SUPER crispy and delicious. There burgers themselves were also great, but the bun wasn't as good, Which took away from the experience.

Visiting Taidong, I was in the mood for a good, Western style burger. This fit the bill. I had the teriyaki beef bacon cheeseburger which was very tasty. Free refills of soda was also a nice touch. Service was attentive and friendly. I will definitely return the next time I'm in town to try their other items.

The restaurant is located in the heart of the city. The opening and service time is 4 pm to 11 pm. The restaurant is run by three boys and one sweet lady and they do their jobs with dedication. The restaurant usually doesn't have any menu because they only serve three cuisines but all three are delicious at affordable prices. The restaurant has indoor dining and sometimes a small crowd will be there for their orders. The restaurant is clean and well managed. They also have black tea. They also have takeaway facilities. My recommendation is to try tofu with noodles and bamboo shoot soup.

This is one of the best vegetarian restaurants in the city, if not in Taiwan! Local atmosphere, delicious, unique food, good prize. My only recommendation is to put less sugar into the meals. But this is a general "problem" with food in Taiwan. ;-)

Most of vegetarian will sure mark this store in their dinner list when travel to Taitung. Both of us tried two bowls of noodles and glutinous rice. Taste was average to us as we are totally vegetarian, a little bit sweet, like the sweet Tainan flavor, for us nothing excited. But it’s very cheap and open till midnight. During summer time you may like to sit on table near to road side rather than in shop, sit near the cooking place was extremely hot but we can't choose coz the cooler sit was occupied.
