Gangneung Jungang Market is a must-visit spot near Gangneung KTX station, offering a wide array of popular local snacks like croquettes, dakgangjeong (sweet and spicy fried chicken), and hotteok (sweet pancake). This traditional market has undergone recent transformations, making it popular among younger generations.
Must visit place if you are in Gangneung! Loved atmosphere. Friendly locals. Delicious food.

Wow, it's been a long time since I visited a traditional market like this. Merchants are generous, so they provide a lot of service. Please stop by for the local economy.

You can find variety of Food in here and good coffee
Chona A — Google review
There is a huge variety of food shops from restaurants to street food. You can also find the traditional tissue part and dry fish. There is a parking lot not far closer to the river
Mathieu L — Google review
a large variety of food selections, some seeing longer snaking queues than others! we tried from 3 different stalls and the food were not bad. but 5 stars for the vibes and the overall market streets! the culture and environment there was nice to walk around and bask in, very fresh experience for someone touring gangneung area :)
Heather T — Google review
Hard to find parking around the area, parts of the market sells fresh vegetables, dried fish and side dishes. Part of it sells street food and snacks with super long queue. Many fried food- fried chicken, tempura style fried prawns and squid, paejeon, croquette, etc. Had the ox head soup with rice, clear taste soup with little meat. Good for experience if u have not tasted ox head before haha.
Michelle C — Google review
Loved this local market experience in winter! 🐟🔥 We picked up fresh sashimi and crispy Korean fried chicken for dinner at our stay, and it was such a treat. There are also tons of tasty street snacks—potato bread, sweet rice pancakes, and even handmade tofu dishes. So much fun exploring the stalls and chatting with friendly vendors. Tip: Go hungry—you’ll want to try everything! 💡 Want to see more photos and a full review? Check out my Instagram: [@blogger_leo]

A clean, spacious market with plenty of stalls with good food, drinks, fresh produce, and clothes. It may be due to size of the building, but I wish there was more seating or areas for eating. Overall, friendly staff around the market making for a good time.

Homeplus Gangneung is a compact yet convenient shopping destination that offers a variety of products, making it easy to find just about anything you need. While it may not have the extensive expertise of larger stores, the friendly staff and clean environment create a pleasant shopping experience. The center features an inviting food court and even has a CGV cinema on its upper levels for entertainment after your shopping spree.
Nice place. Anything you can find. In summer time inside is cool enough. Each floor has clean bathrooms. Price is good. It has underground parking lot. Workers are kind.
Meerkat — Google review
One stop shopping. The groceries in the basement is great after shopping in the store above for any and everything you may ever need and want. There is an attached parking lot but be warned, it is playing a game of dare if not chicken with fellow drivers

Specialty Museums
Ojukheon, located in Gangneung, is a historic site that holds great significance as the birthplace of the renowned Confucian scholar Yi Yulgok and his mother, Shin Saimdang. This complex features Munseongsa Temple, an ancestral shrine of Yulgok, Mongryongsil Chamber where he was born, Eoje Pavilion where his relics are kept, Yulgok Memorial Hall, and an exhibition hall of family relics.
Was it in high school or college? I can't quite recall, but I remember the shock I felt upon learning that the "O" in Ojukheon comes from the Chinese character for crow (烏), symbolizing black. Black bamboo—could such a thing even exist? How could bamboo, which I had always associated with the vibrant green, whispering sound of wind brushing through its leaves, be black? That revelation completely reshaped my understanding of the place. From that moment, Ojukheon became a sort of pilgrimage site for me, a place to see this mysterious black bamboo. Now, living in another country and visiting Korea briefly, I find myself returning to Ojukheon with a different sense of appreciation. The historical figures who once lived here—Yulgok Yi I and Shin Saimdang—have long since become static figures in textbooks, their stories no longer growing or evolving. My real curiosity now lies with the black bamboo. How much stronger and more dynamic have they grown since my last visit? And what about the grand old pine trees surrounding the grounds—how much thicker and denser have they become over the years? I walked through Ojukheon with a sense of gratitude, not just for the history the place holds, but for the natural beauty that has continued to flourish here. The bamboo, the pines, and the serene landscape—they all seemed to reflect the quiet strength and resilience of the past while remaining vibrant and alive in the present.
Peter S — Google review
I visited Ojukheon , and it was a really cool experience. It’s a famous historical place, and I liked walking around the old buildings and learning a bit about the history. What stood out the most were the cherry blossom and magnolia trees they were in full bloom and looked amazing. The pink and white flowers made the whole place feel peaceful and beautiful. Spring is definitely the best time to go.

A Historic Gem Steeped in the Legacy of Shin Saimdang and Her Son Yulgok Yi I – Ojukheon, Gangneung Ojukheon is one of Korea’s most treasured historical sites, known as the birthplace of Shin Saimdang—often called the “Mother of Joseon”—and her son, the renowned Confucian scholar Yulgok Yi I. The name “Ojukheon” comes from the black bamboo that grows in the courtyard, adding a poetic charm to this beautifully preserved wooden structure from the mid-Joseon Dynasty. This site offers a rich cultural experience, with well-curated exhibition halls including the Yulgok Memorial Hall, Munseongsa Shrine, and a museum showcasing artifacts and artworks. The walking paths and gardens are serene and beautifully maintained, making it a great destination for families and history lovers alike. I visited during the 2022 WalkintoKorea Fam Tour and was truly moved by Shin Saimdang’s Chochungdo (insect and plant paintings)—seeing them in person was breathtaking. Visitors can also enjoy hanbok experiences and take photos at various scenic spots throughout the grounds. Proudly selected with WalkintoKorea as one of the “Top Cultural Heritage Sites to Visit.”
Daehoon K — Google review
There were many museums and many things to see. Also it was well preserved as it used to be. Me and my son had very good time as Simsaimdang and her son Yiyi.
Jae M — Google review
Ojukheon is a deeply historical site in Gangneung. It is the home of Shim Saimdang, artist, and her son Yi I, a famous Confucian scholar. She is on the 50k won note and he is on the 5k note. The location houses a sprawling garden and several buildings which contain museum exhibits relevant to the area and the former inhabitants. The gardens are well kept and are seeded with native korean plants. You can spend a few nice hours here wandering around and taking photos. There's a money museum as well that has historical Korean notes including from before the Japanese occupation. It was really peaceful and beautiful. If you visit gangneung you should stay closer to the city centre and visit ojukheon. There is a small discount if you go to this location during culture day (final Wednesday of the month).

A peaceful and cultural stop in Gangneung 🏯🍂 Ojukheon is the birthplace of Shin Saimdang and Yulgok Yi I, who appear on the ₩5,000 bill. The traditional hanok buildings and quiet pine tree trail were perfect for a winter walk. Inside, you can see a small currency museum, and there’s also a hanbok experience area for photos. Entry was just 3,000 KRW for adults. Definitely worth a visit if you love Korean history and architecture! 💡 Want to see more photos and a full review? Check out my Instagram: [@blogger_leo]

Gives an insight into this family and its routes, making It quite real. Koreans worship the mother and son it would seem. Worth and hour or two out of your day as this quality of historic building is rare in South Korea would seem

Nestled in the serene landscapes of Gangneung, Ojukheon is a timeless gem that effortlessly transports visitors back in time. Stepping onto its grounds feels like entering a portal to Korea's rich cultural heritage. As a history enthusiast, I was captivated by the exquisite architecture, meticulously preserved artifacts, and the profound stories echoing through its halls. The traditional hanok-style architecture of Ojukheon exudes an aura of elegance and simplicity, reflecting the refined taste of the Joseon Dynasty. Walking through its corridors, I couldn't help but marvel at the craftsmanship of the wooden structures and the intricate details adorning every corner. The highlight of my visit was exploring the birthplace of the renowned scholar, Shin Saimdang, and her son, Yi I. It was a humbling experience to stand in the very rooms where these influential figures once lived and to gain insight into their lives through the carefully curated exhibits. The surrounding gardens, lush with bamboo groves and tranquil ponds, provide the perfect backdrop for contemplation and relaxation. I found myself lost in the tranquility of nature, soaking in the essence of traditional Korean aesthetics. Whether you're a history buff, an art enthusiast, or simply seeking a moment of serenity away from the hustle and bustle of modern life, Ojukheon is a must-visit destination. It's a timeless masterpiece that showcases the beauty of Korea's past and leaves a lasting impression on all who have the privilege of exploring its wonders.

Nestled in the picturesque Gangwon-do Province, Seongyojang House is a stunning example of 18th-century architecture that once belonged to an upper-class family during the Joseon Dynasty. This beautifully preserved traditional Korean house now serves as a museum, offering visitors a glimpse into the elegant lifestyle of Korea's aristocracy.
If you can afford it with time and money, they also have accommodations available. The place is great representation of how Joseon upper class used to leave. For a privately owned property, it is extremely well maintained.

It is a modern art museum. Each section is a huge theme that surprises visitors. It was a big experience that I wasn’t expecting from the provincial city of Gangneung. It‘s a great place for kids as well, but I’m a little concerned that it‘s dark and the acoustics are quite loud in the museum.

Buffet restaurant
Ashley Restaurant in Gangneung offers excellent value for the price, making it a top choice for diners. Moreover, the restaurant's limited number of branches allows customers to savor each dish individually. Its buffet concept ensures an abundance of options with a wide variety of flavors to explore. The experience at Ashley Restaurant is delightful, with a range of delectable dishes that will satisfy diverse tastes and preferences. The ambiance is pleasant, and the service is commendable.
(Translated by Google) It seems to be the best value for money. There aren't many Western buffets you can enjoy for 9,900 won. The best part is that there aren't too many of them, so you can taste just about every one! How are you? It's good~ (Original)
DongGyu O — Google review
If you want to eat, do not go to this place. The previous reviews have to be for a different Restaurant. The food (as per western standards) is absolutely terrible. Most of the dishes are cold pasta or weird fruit concoctions. They charge 11000 WON for all your you can eat, but then who would want to eat Garbage. Some local Korean visit this place only so their young children can eat the ice cream. Plenty of wonderful Korean Restaurants right next door to this joint.
P M — Google review
(Translated by Google) The service is not bad and friendly. However, unlike other Ashleys, there is a special feature that the tableware can be returned by yourself. Some types of food are excellent, while others are worse than average or similar, so I recommend not eating too much just because it looks delicious, but rather picking up a few different foods and tasting them at first.
Null — Google review
(Translated by Google) Because it is a chain restaurant, the taste is the same no matter what region or place you eat it. However, it takes too long to refill the dropped food. If I wait for the delicious food to be refilled and then pick up something else, I get full... Please cook it quickly~ (Original)

(Translated by Google) You can enjoy many menu items at affordable prices. There are plenty of seats on weekdays, but the wait may be long on weekends. As it is a classic level, there is not enough meat. (Original) 저렴한 가격에 많은 메뉴를 즐길수 있다. 평일은 자리가 넉넉하나 주말엔 웨이팅이 길 수 있다. 클래식 레벨인만큼 고기류가 부족하다.

(Translated by Google) This may be due to rising labor costs. The number of employees has decreased significantly Store management is a mess. I need to pay more attention to hygiene. As a bonus, everything is prepaid and self-service. This is a natural conclusion since there are only a few employees.
(Translated by Google) It's good for the price, but it's a regular Ashley, so even though the price has gone up, the price per person is the same, so it looks good, but the quality of the menu is lower. Now I can't consume protein at all. There isn't even fried chicken. It would be better to raise the price a little and upgrade the menu. Even though the price these days is around 9,900 won to 12,900 won, will people run out if it's a buffet? Nowadays, it is cheap and cost-effective, but you can think of it as just eating carbohydrates and fat. There are too few salads. Gangneung is not as rural as it used to be, so it's a shame that the only family restaurant is so low-rated.

This place is super great and tucked away in the traditional market. The atmosphere and room is from the 1970s. It is a classic place where the old lady cooks the food out front and you sit and wait inside. The 빈댇떡 mung bean fried pancake was a little over fried and dry. But the potato pancake was awesome. The 옥수수 corn makkeoli (rice wine) is well worth it. Shake it gently to mix it and enjoy a nice cool drink on a hot day. Also had the soup which was nice too.

Traditional beef head soup that tastes amazing! One of the less fatty places with the broth tasting pleasant yet deep with flavour.

Inside the market, a very nice little restaurant. Lots of friendly older ladies willing to help you. English isn’t great but they do have a digital menu you order from at each table and it does have English you can order from. Food was delicious, great ox bone soup. The ladies were so nice, I didn’t need a fork but they brought one for me anyways because they saw I’m a foreigner haha. Definitely will come again!

A dine in sit down meal in January in Gangneung-si inside the Jungangsijang. This place is inside a an alleyway with a couple of ox head soup places. We got the ox head soup with rice and the chicken soup with rice. You have to add your own salt, pepper and gochujang to taste. It was delicious. They had kimchi and kaktugi. You can order from your table electronically. The meal arrives extremely quickly. And then you pay up front. It was worth it.

Restaurant
Todam Soft Tofu is an exceptional tofu restaurant in the city, possibly even the best in all of Korea. It offers a combination of delicious and nutritious meals that cater to both vegans and those seeking a satisfying breakfast. The Soondubu, particularly their soft tofu dish, stands out as one of the finest versions available. Even after trying similar options in Gangneung multiple times, Todam Soft Tofu remains unparalleled.
This is the best soft tofu stew (sundubu jjigae) I have had, hands down! Their tofu is made using seawater but it's not salty. Sundubu is a simple stew with simple ingredients and their stew is as simple as can be. It only has a few ingredients, not complicated but packed with so much flavor. The restaurant is an old structure with wooden tables and chairs. If this restaurant is able to be in business for a long time, you know it's really good. There's also a lot of jars where they keep their kimchi, soy sauce, bean paste. Their banchans are all homemade too. Delicious!

Not sanitary. Food tastes good overall but everything is so dirty. There are ants on the floor and they serve tap water(Which is culturery unacceptable in Korea although it is cleanest among all OECD countries.). The place it self is a very old house which is built with woods and dirt.

Pino Italian Restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience with delicious and excellent dishes. The staff provides generous and friendly service at affordable prices. The restaurant has a serene and soothing atmosphere, complemented by beautiful design. Thankfully, there is no BBQ pork on the menu, which is a pleasant surprise. While not having tried everything yet, the sampled items have all been good or exceptional. The food quality is remarkable, even pleasing finicky eaters like children who devour everything served.

Day 2

East side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the east side side of town. Start the day off with Jumunjin Fish Market, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Gyeongpo Beach. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Must visit place while in Jumunjin. We had lunch here in one of the restaurants inside the cluster of the eateries here. Everybody speaks only Korean here and signs and menu are also only in Korean so it’s very difficult for a non Korean to order food. We got help from a customer who translated for us. Thankfully we ate after that.
Priyanka R — Google review
It looks like a normal fish market. Mostly neat and clean. A box of squids is about $36. Price sounds good.
Alice L — Google review
A very exciting fish market. Aside from selling fresh/live seafood, there're sections that sell snacks and dried seafood, as well as restaurants cook to your orders. You pick the live seafood you want and they cook it for you on the spot, can't be fresher than that. They also give you free appetizers that mostly live seafood cut as sashimi like sea squirt, abalone, octopus, etc. They also give steamed sea snails and some kind of seafood rolls. Pretty luxurious for free appetizers I think. We ordered king crab steamed at ₩90,000/kg, quite affordable, and it came sweet as it can be. They also cut it so it's easy for you to eat it. They also mix the head butter in the shell with some kind of mix rice, it come out heavenly. We ordered fugu at ₩60,000/kg, they sashimi the body and make soup out of the head and bone, quite nice and refreshing. I highly recommend those two if you're here. The seafood market is very lively with a million different kind of seafood sold. I had my eyes on the clams, prawns and snow crabs but alas my tummy is at its maximum capacity. The place is very clean, no smell at all and the water drainage is very active and effective.
Freddy S — Google review
We went to this market early in the morning and arenglad it has already opened. It is less crowded then...
Tau W — Google review
Quite an interesting experience at the market seeing different types of big crabs. But the price is not cheap. 1kg of crab ranging 80000 to 90000 won. 1 big crab weighs about 2.5kg. The people are friendly. One of the shop owner even helped us to call a taxi.
Chee C — Google review
Jumunjin Fish Market is one of the less popular areas of Kangwondo. However, the quality of the market is very high and not as well-known to travelers. The prices of the fish are cheap but the quality is very high. The prices that the merchants shout are the price of fish within the basket they present. It usually contains about 3~5 different types of fish. Prices range from $30~$100. After purchasing the fish, you will have to send your fish to a professional cutter to get it into the form of sashimi. It costs about $5~$15. At minimum, you can get high quality sashimi for around $35 which can feed up to 3 people. The side menus that the merchants sell within the fish market are slightly overpriced so I recommend you use the stores nearby. There are some convenience stores nearby such as the 'No Brand' store where they sell somethings you might want along with your sashimi such as alcohol or other beverages.
Google review
It's an interesting spot to walk around for an hour or so. If you love seafood there are plenty of opportunities to buy fresh raw goodies or pick up a fried snack from one of the market vendors. There are also many restaurants all around the area. The port has some cool fishing boats to check out, and lots of people fish directly off the edge of the port. Parking is the only issue around here, I suggest finding the NH bank near the town center, we were able to use their parking lot on the weekend. Also please be careful walking near the road, 'cause drivers aren't keen on slowing down for pedestrians.
Doop B — Google review
Great value. I recommend 똘똘이네. Super kind and reasonable price. Also 대게 한마당 is a place to go, if you want to try king crab. The owner is very kind, deliscious 대게 라면, 게뚜껑볶음밥. You can also enjoy the ocean view, while dining.

I'been this place twice in2021/2024. It seems the number of spicies decreased, but it is still worth to visit with kids as they love it. Especially my son feeded a cow for 2 hours.

Best experience for my toddler. Affordable pricing Very interactive animals, there’s ducks, goats, deers, cow, ostrich, alpaca, chicks, Guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, fish. We love the entire experience and will definitely recommend it. This was the highlight of our trip. Note to go earlier as the animals get full in the afternoon and sleep.

I visited here with my children while we're in holiday at Gang won-do. This is the first experience for kids to see little animals face to face. Can see the baby animals so closely and can geed them also. Of course should pay for the fodder, it is not free but cheap. The box of fodder is divided by animal kinds, so can feed suitable fodder for each animals The farm is so large and many kinds of animals are living there. But most of them are domestic animals. It is great experience for kids to feed and face to animals.
Jamie.B — Google review
It was pretty good. Not sure if 10.000 won per person is a reasonable price but it was fun regardless.
Alena L — Google review
I love this farm alot because firstly, the auntie there was soooo friendly, and it onky cost you 10000 won per person which is abiut 12 dollars or so. You get a container with labels and as for me i could refill at anytime although you cant take too much. I went there during winter and i can see that the farm was well organised. There was one partixular brown dog which caught my eye. It was really shy at first and no visitors spotted it was hiding in its little house. I could tell it was shivering and was probably hungry so i took all my dog food and gave it, however it wasnt enough so i wanted to pay for more... what really surprised me was the auntie gave me about one rice bowl of dog food to feed th little dog, although i dont speak korean she was generous and i really appreciate it. I wanted to pay her but she waved her hands and rejected it. The dog was soo cute i could tell that it was getting more comfortable with me .... i even got the chance to pet it . It was truly a wonderful experience. By the way this is my 2nd time visiting the farm, and i must say that they did make improvements to the farm. There is even a clean toilet and a resting area to keep warm. I really loved this place and will visit again.
Jazel W — Google review

This is out under the expressway. There are lots of different animals to look at and interact with. All of the animals I dealt with were kind but I can understand if others would be intimidated by some like the adult goats (who were enthusiastic about meeting people and maneuvering their heads through the fence) and my 1 year old daughter did not enjoy the larger animals at all. But overall it was fine. We will try again when my daughter is older.

Gyeongpodae Pavilion

Heritage building
Gyeongpodae Pavilion, located near Gyeongpo Lake and surrounded by a pine forest, is a historical site with cultural significance. Built in the 13th year of King Chungsuk in the Goryeo period, it houses works by renowned figures such as Yulgok Yi and King Sukjong. The pavilion offers a serene and picturesque setting, especially during spring when cherry blossoms bloom.
This is a heritage site with a view of the lake. Just along the path is a memorial to South Koreas soldiers, which is very well maintained and in its own right beautifully put together catching the light very subtley.

Museums
Chamsori Gramophone Museum and Edison Science Museum is a must-visit for museum enthusiasts. It features an extensive collection of vintage gramophones, Edison-related exhibits, and artifacts. The museum offers a unique experience with its focus on sound and inventions by Thomas Edison. Located in Songjeong-dong, Gangneung City, the museum was established over 30 years ago by curator Sun Chengmu.
10 out of 10. If you like off-beat museums and a lot of artifacts this museum is the place. For the modest price of about $10 USD you can explore two expansive museums. There is the Edison Gramophone museum and the Movie/cinema museum. They were curated by one man who simply loves Edison and movies. It’s amazing. Definitely worth a side-trip. You can make it through both museums in about 45 minutes, but to fully experience plan about 2 hours. Some staff speak English, but most do not. So either speak a little Korean or have good translation apps. The one downside is that photos aren’t allowed in the museums except in specific locations.

Edison Science Museum + Charmsori Music Museum + Gangneung Film Museum First stop on the tour was the Edison Science Museum, where I delved into the world of scientific discovery and innovation. The museum's interactive exhibits and educational displays brought to life the incredible inventions and contributions of Thomas Edison, offering a glimpse into the marvels of electricity, telecommunication, and technology. Next, I stepped into the Charmsori Music Museum, a hidden gem celebrating the artistry and cultural heritage of traditional Korean musical instruments. The knowledgeable guides provided insightful demonstrations, allowing me to appreciate the intricate craftsmanship and the soul-stirring melodies produced by these instruments. Concluding the tour was the Gangneung Film Museum, a treasure trove of cinematic history and creativity. The museum's dedication to preserving and promoting the film industry was evident throughout.

Soontofu Gelato is a delightful gem that offers a unique twist on traditional gelato with its soft tofu flavor, which surprisingly comes across as pleasantly sweet and subtly flavored. While the standout option is undoubtedly the soft tofu, adventurous eaters can also indulge in other enticing flavors like matcha, black sesame, and even coffee. The experience of waiting in line may seem daunting at first, but it moves quickly, allowing you to savor your choices sooner than expected.
Really good tofu ice cream! Texture was smooth and overall felt light, nicer than dairy ice cream. They have a few different flavors but would recommend the original one to savor the soy taste more.

I really enjoyed the gelato! It tasted like tofu in a dessert. I was surprised but it was good! Recommend to try. FYI, they only sell single flavor cups, I wished they had double so I could try 2 flavors! Everything sounded interesting! It’s a takeaway store!

Visited this place as it was recommended by many travelers, however, I found it a little over rated. We reached there around 4PM, and all the famous flavors were already sold out, so had to try the mango and strawberry flavor, which I didn't feel any special. The young boys selling the ice cream seemed very tired of their job :-D . The indoor seating place was closed, so had to sit in the outside area, which is just adjacent to the parking lot. So every time someone parks the car, you feel the flavor of gasoline in every bite :-D ..

Gyeongpo Beach is a popular summer destination boasting of a wide sandy shoreline, surrounded by pine trees and lined with various dining and accommodation options. The beach is known for being incredibly clean with staff dedicated to keeping it free of litter. The water is crystal clear and shimmering, making it an ideal spot for swimming. During off-seasons, the place becomes less crowded but still offers a friendly entertainment strip serving fresh seafood.
Super lovely beach that is well lit even through the night. The restaurants lined up on the street along the beach serve until wee hours of the morning. We visited Gangnueng in April first week and it was still cold but not freezing. We could take walks on the beach without feeling the chill . The beach has nice photo locations and has a wooden plank walkway that is well lit for late evening strolls too. Tofu restaurant
"고분옥할머니순두부" is a popular restaurant known for its limited menu featuring tofu stew and soon tofu. Visitors should expect long queues and wait times, as well as a mix of Chinese and Korean ingredients in the dishes. The food is described as minimally seasoned but flavorful, although some may find it not worth the wait. Former President Myung bak Lee has dined here, indicating its reputation.
There's a reason this place is so famous and past presidents have gone here: it's good. They have a simple menu so if you don't want tofu, don't come here. If you want tofu done right, this is your place.
Chris G — Google review
Only menu items are (1) tofu stew (9000 KRW per head) or (2) soon tofu (8000 KRW). Be mindful of long queues and long serving time. We went on Dec 26th and were 4th in line but stood waiting for good 20-30 min. Food also took about 20-30 min to come out including side dishes. Also, ingredients are a mix of chinese and korean, unlike other restaurants nearby that only use domestically sourced beans or tofus. Food is minimally seasoned and tasteful, but might not be worth the wait. I am slightly concerned for their sanitation as well because the gas stove the stew came with was filthy and sticky and seemed to be at least 20 yrs old

Although the waiting line of this restaurant is shorter than its neighbor's, the level of the taste is not discounted. Tofu jjigae (9000 KRW per head) is amazingly delicious. The tofu jjigae is simply made of kimchi, fungus, and tofu without sophisticated seasoning, but its pure flavor is unforgettable. BTW, the side dishes and the service are great.

If you're a fan of seafood, you must try 실비 생선구이. This renowned spot is known for its delicious roasted fish, which has earned it a strong reputation. Visitors rave about the superb taste and quality of the grilled fish, making it a highly recommended dining option. The fresh and delectable food, along with attentive staff and great side dishes, make it an excellent choice for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable meal.
The owner welcomed us with English. And the grilled assortment of fish is so satisfying after an autumn walk on the beach , from BTS Bus stop to Goblin jetty.

Rui is a highly recommended restaurant in Gangwon, known for its delicious and well-presented meals. The vegetarian option, a deep-fried tofu broth with various sides, including rice and miso soup, has received rave reviews. The raspberry & mulberry whisky highball is also a standout drink. Visitors appreciate the wide window views of the sea while dining. The staff are efficient and accommodating, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
Really good set for only 13000 won, super good quality, tasty and good service

It became my favourite place during my stay at Gyeongpo Beach. Delicious meals 😍

This was the best meal I’ve had so far on my trip to Gangwon, and I overheard someone at another table saying the same thing! The vegetarian option is a delicious deep fried tofu broth with various sides including rice and miso soup - it can be made vegan if you ask them to remove the egg. I also recommend the raspberry & mulberry whisky highball - I normally find highballs too watery but this one was great.

They do a nice vegeterian tofu dish that can be made vegan :)

I had this crab meat rice set and it was really nice and what a generous portion! My husband had pork cutlet & rice set (no photo). We arrived about 2:30 PM before their break time and we didn’t have to wait long for our food to come out.

Dinnertime. Food quality good / juicy Tonkatsu pork , great prawns.and delicious fried tofu ( veg set ) . Washed away with a smooth highball :)

Great dinner (twice, we actually returned) despite being in a touristic area. We were happy to eat here in a no fuss atmosphere, good selection of dishes and drinks, very reasonably priced. Of course, if you must spend all your money on crab, go nextdoor.

The food was so great we visited the place twice on the same day – no regrets! Their crab set is just iconic, the same goes with tempura shrimps and side dishes. Top window view, very kind staff, great atmosphere! We had such a nice time there. Cannot recommend more!

Seafood restaurant
If you're in Gangneung, make sure to stop by 엄지네 포장마차 for a unique culinary experience. The kkomak bibimbap, or seasoned clam bibimbap, is a must-try dish that promises a burst of delicious flavors. Unlike the typical bibimbap, this version offers a fulfilling taste without being overly salty and is free from garlic, making it perfect for those who prefer to avoid garlic.
Very Very good food. We were there just two people but we had to try both the cockle rice and the beef sashimi so we ordered both. Honestly it was a bit too much but they all tasted so good. It's also common for the people here to just eat half of the cockle rice and pack the rest of them home. Atmosphere and service were both normal for a simple Korean restaurant, but the food is fantastic and very authentic. Probably one of the most memorable restaurants I've had in my many times in Korea, will love to visit again.
Natthakul — Google review
There are a lot of different seafood themed menu items but most people come for the beef sashimi (in the filters it’s saeng yookheo) and the claim fried rice aka ggomakmuchimbibimnap. Both of the main food dishes are 1/2 on their menu: 꼬막무침 비빔밥 and 육사시미. The food and side dishes were really yummy (especially their 미역국) and their service was so quick! We ordered and immediately got our food. We went around 12 and there wasn’t any wait time, but when we were leaving around 1:30 to 2… the crowd had arrived!

We ate the GoeMahk Bibim Bahp (Small Clam Mixed Rice) and it was very good. My wife and I went on a weekday (Thursday) at 7:30pm so although the restaurant was full, we only waited about 10 minutes upstairs in their waiting area, that looked like it could hold roughly 50 people. I won't say I was disappointed, however, if I had to wait an hour or more, I probably would have been because it wasn't heavenly spectacular good, therefore 4 of 5 stars. The bahn chahn (side dishes) were very good too. We both especially liked the spicy mini-crabs (first picture at the 7 o'clock of the main dish) with the mixed rice dish we had. My wife stated the same and we are both closet "foodies", especially good Korean food. My wife said the place had a really positive online reputation and she looked the place up for our Thursday dinner. The restaurant has opens at 4:30pm and closes at early morning... It took us 40 minutes drive from the Pyeongchang Alpensia Intercontinental Hotel. We used Kakao Navigation to find the restaurant.

Kkomak bibimbap is so delicious. When I go to Gangneung, I always stop by and eat. I hope you go there and try it. I strongly recommend it. I think it's expanded to the third store recently, so I could eat it without lining up.

Came for the giant hourglass (which was cool!) but was really surprised by the Time Museum! Someone had commented here they loved it so I went to check it out. The fact that it is housed in a 8-carriage train was already intriguing. Inside was more interesting than I expected. There are captions in English but you can take a quick snap and google translate the longer Korean portions to get a better understanding. Staff were really nice too, helped to explain some bits in as much English as they could. Buying a ticket gives you a discount at their cafe/gift shop and you can proceed upstairs for a nice place to sit with a vantage view.

The hourglass is nothing special but strolling along the beach and stopping by the time museum was very enjoyable. View of the Sun Cruise Hotel was very interesting...wish they allow us enter the hotel but it's for guests only.

Nice stop to get out and stretch. Too cold to swim and just stopped by to look around. Hourglass is neat. Didn't go into the Time Museum but the reviews looked neat. Little area to workout. Fun picture spots. Fun railway ride. Need to try that in the future.

Jeongdongjin Beach, located in close proximity to a ship-shaped hotel, is a renowned destination for witnessing the first sunrise of every New Year. This beach boasts stunning views of the blue sea and tranquil sounds of crashing waves. It is relatively less crowded compared to other beaches and stands out for its cleanliness. Jeongdongjin Beach has been a popular sightseeing spot for ages and remains a timeless attraction due to its natural beauty.
Jeongdongjin Beach is a really nice spot peaceful and clean, perfect for a relaxing walk. There are some interesting art displays around the beach, which add a cool touch. You can also see the famous hotel that looks like a ship, which is super mesmerizing and definitely stands out in the landscape.

After all the hours of walking and seeing at other sightseeing spots in Korea, naturally, this beach was a breather. For relaxing and unwinding, plus, water playing and taking pictures. Quite a nice place. Otherwise, there's nothing much to do. Maybe, you want to idle your time away by sitting by the beach

The landscape is great but not such convenient for public transportation. This place can arrives by public transportation but you might have a long wait between Gangneung station and Jeongdongjin station. If you live in other cities like seoul and planning for one day trip then suggest I you have a look on the train schedule or you might back to seoul in the midnight or even no train back to Seoul.

Haslla Art World Museum, located in Gangneung, is a contemporary coastal complex which includes an exhibition space for artwork, a café and hotel facilities. There is also a picturesque park that features sculptures. The museum spans 61 acres and has three separate sections: the Modern Art Museum, Pinocchio Museum and Outdoor Museum. Visitors can experience an adventurous trip down memory lane as they explore the dark yet exciting exhibits within Hassla's Pinocchio Museum.
Beautiful place. You really could spend several hours. Summer is super hot so I didn't explore the outside exhibits.
Annette A — Google review
It is a great place to see artworks, take pictures, and take a walk. Many people gather at the photogenic points with ocean views. Various artworks and maze-like paths add to the fun. Thank you.
이근호 — Google review
It's a nice art center with a beautiful sculpture park. We liked it but something is absolutely missing: at least some information about the sculptures and pieces. The meaning behind it. What artist it was. What kind of thought he / she puts into the work. It was just looking at things sometimes with questionmarks in your head. You can get the feeling that people rather go there to take instashots than admiring good pieces of art.
Sarah B — Google review
This is a really lovely art museum and pieces quite original. Children seem to enjoy as some pieces were interactive with great photo opportunities. You maybe tempted to go here on a rainy day but you may miss the view at the top and outside art may not be seen as their best. All exhibits beautifully displayed
Claire T — Google review
Interesting experience spread over a few floors and also outside areas, where people even stood in line to take photos. The art gallery is also in a spacious park and part of the woods near Haslla Art World. I saw about 3 gift shops, one of them is conjoined with a bar with a menu about 10 items or so, and there's a full-blown café by the exit and beginning of the park section.
Elena K — Google review
Artistic place with a good view. The building comprises both hotel and art museum. Used hotel's executive room and it was very spacious with a big tub. One thing that bothered me the most was that there were no mirrors in the room. Not even in the bathroom.
Jihoon H — Google review
The outside of the building with all the photospots (queues) and the distant ocean as a back drop, the metal walkways and arches made for amazing photos and I was glad I went for those but honestly I don't understand the inside. I have been to many world class galleries and art museums, from the small to the large and this was like they stuffed every piece of art they owned or were exhibiting into every conceivable space. Some sculptures were being used as display spots for other seemingly random bits and pieces. Was this the intention of the museum and I'm just not getting it or what?? If you go using the buses, take care as the schedule displayed at the bus stop to return to Gangneung did not match.
Lisa J — Google review
the museum have a breathtaking view of the sea. Waited 45 minutes for a club sandwich and eggs benedict. When I they buzzed us to get our food, only the sandwich was done. Had to wait another 10-15 minutes for them to bring us the eggs benedict which was cold on arrival. Aside from being cold, the eggs benedict was terrible as it's served with an American cheese-like cream sauce instead of hollandaise. Oh, and marmalade, which was just weird. Nice view though.

Hamburger restaurant
Cafe Paul & Mary is a charming spot overlooking Gyungpo Beach in Gangneung, offering a variety of tasty burgers such as Bacon Mozzarella, Hawaiian, and Chili Mozzarella. The prices are reasonable, around 10,000 won for a full meal. While the exterior may not be impressive, the interior has unique details. Some visitors found the burgers delicious with generous toppings but noted that they were messy to eat and quite large. The service is friendly and efficient.
Delicious meal! Strongly recommend juices as well
Lucia C — Google review
The place is very nice and the food looks great. The burger looks huge when you get it, but not much meat so the ratio seems off when you eat it (the meat-vegetable-bun ratio seems off). I like the sauce, but a little too much. Even though the meat itself is hot, it seems cold because of all the cold vegetables. The fries, however, are very good. They come out hot and fresh.
John — Google review
The food was just okay. The view from the restaurant was really great. I didn't have a choice in choosing restaurants because of my pets, so I opted for this place since it's pet-friendly. However, you can find better places in Seoul if you're looking for 매밀 Noodle.
YJ — Google review
After seeing the pictures of the burgers full with cheeseI wanted to try it. The burger was delicious. For me it was the perfect ratio of meat and vegetables. The bun was okay. The only problem was that it was super hard to eat without making a mess. The restaurants doesn't look like much from outside and the inside is not special excision except for some unique details. Still worth a visit for a nice burger

Topping, colors and shapes are great. But the meat patty itself is not good enough. The prices are relatively lower than the other restaurants’ near the place.

The price is not bad and the service is nice. The burger I had was tasty but I think it would have been better with less sauce (which is kind of a shame because the patty itself was fabulous). Also, these burgers are so large that you cannot eat them without cutting them up first. Eat-in and takeout are both available and the beachfront location makes this a nice spot to visit.

Embarking on a journey through the enchanting depths of Gyeongpo Aquarium, I was captivated by the wonders that awaited me beneath the surface. Nestled in the coastal city of Gangneung, South Korea, this modern aquarium offered a mesmerizing experience that delighted both young and old alike. Upon entering the aquarium, I was greeted by a vibrant display of marine life from around the world. The vast array of exhibits showcased a diverse collection of aquatic creatures, ranging from colorful tropical fish to majestic sharks and graceful stingrays. Each tank was thoughtfully designed to replicate the natural habitats of these mesmerizing beings, providing an immersive experience that made me feel like I was exploring the ocean firsthand. The 4D theater showcased captivating films that brought marine adventures to life, while the souvenir shop offered a range of mementos to commemorate the experience. The café provided a relaxing space to unwind, offering panoramic views of the sea.
MJ M — Google review
I think this aquarium is better to visit if you have kids since it took us about 20 minutes to go thru the whole thing, and there's kid's café at the end. Seemed too short for 18 000₩ per person - that is full price when buying tickets at the aquarium, maybe the tickets could be cheaper on Klook or some other app. At least the place wasn't too crowded.
Elena K — Google review
Small aquarium but has good exhibits. Touch tanks for turtles and fish that will nimble your fingers. Short tunnel with sharks. Right next to the really cool art exhibit so when you get done you can walk over and do that as well. Takes about 30 minutes to go thru the aquarium but you could make it take longer.
Andrew J — Google review
Reasonable price for the aquarium and not too busy. There is a kidscafe at the end.

Beautiful aquarium right next to the lake and restored wetlands. Walk through a shark tunnel, see penguins, jellyfish, and otters. Row a boat outside, feed fish, or let your little one operate a scale model excavator. Relax in the 2nd floor cafe with a sweeping view of the lake and wetlands.
Gavin H — Google review
It was nice. Saw a lot on of sea creatures. Walked through the tunnel to see sharks. However, the place is small and we flew through it since my boy ran from one thing to another. 50,000 each for three people which is a lot for the size of the aquarium. It took us maybe 20-30 mins to get through it. There is a 50% discount if we go back in a year which I don’t think we will.
Didi — Google review
This place is really close to the lake if you just want to stroll and take in some air. But the aquarium is great in itself. There are penguins that seem happy and eager to greet you at the window. There is a small tank of fish that will nibble on your fingers if you like that sort of thing. Large seals and loads of colorful fish, it is a great place to stop by. It's not too large so won't take more than 45 minutes to an hour to see the entire aquarium fully. That's why I mention the lake.

amazing food with a simple menu. highly recommend number 1 seafood stew. ordered spicy abalone tofu stew (no 2) along with 1st, really sweet broth that makes you feel warm on the inside on a cold day!!! generous portions of seafood with live abalone. the soup just gets sweeter. little peppery for those who can’t really take spice. menu number 2 is alright level of spice, slightly more than 1! there are instructions on the other side, and menu is fully in korean. card is accepted, with free flow of banchan. anchovies were amazing!!!

On my vacation to Korea and Gangneung, I found out that there is neighborhood called Cho-dang which is famous for soft tofu stew. My favorite restaurant in USA is Cho-dang soon (soft) tofu, so I had to try out several of better reviewed soft tofu restaurant. This was by far the best. Price was also most expensive by large margin, but it was worth it. 15,000 won (about $13) whereas others were 7-8,000 won, but there was more substance such as live abalone (actually moved while cooking in your hot soup) and more variety of sea food. Base soup was also tastiest and there were more variety banchan. Highly recommended and one of 3 five star that I gave on over 30 restaurants that I tried in that trip.

Gyeongpo Lake

4.4
(571)
Gyeongpo Lake, also known as Gunjaho Lake, is a picturesque haven located 6 kilometers northeast of Gangneung. Originally spanning 12 kilometers, the lake has since reduced to 4 kilometers due to sediment buildup. It is renowned for being a stopover for migratory birds and offers stunning sunset views. Gyeongpo Beach, with its white sands and pine tree backdrop facing the Pacific Ocean, is considered one of Korea's finest beaches.
A place where you can exercise or just enjoy the beautiful scenery. Located accross the Gyeongpp Beach. You can visit this place for free

It is huge park...we only had short time to walk around the park...it would be wonderful when the weather is lot warmer. Would definitely come back again.
Danny K — Google review
Took about 1.5 hours to walk the whole thing. Really nice lake. Good spots to view herons. Flat, so easy to walk. There’s also places nearby to rent bicycles.
Sean Q — Google review
A beautiful lake that is so close to a sea beach yet holds its own beauty. There’s a walkway all around this lake that can cover on foot if you like but it would easily take you more than an hour to do that. We did it the easier way by hiring these bikes that can accommodate 4 or more people depending on the size of your group. Two ppl can pedal and control the direction at the same time. And it’s the fastest way to go around the lake without getting exhausted. You have an option to rent the bikes for 1hr or more. You can also stop at various locations around the lake and explore the lanes etc. We visited during Cherry blossom festival and it was gorgeous as ever. The fair was also on the lakeside
Priyanka R — Google review
The lake smells like the ocean. Very salty. It was cool and windy when I visited in the evening in summer. The paths are very flat and easy to walk. I walked about half the lake to a bike shop and rented a single person bike from Green Bike for 5000 won, for one hour. I didn't realise that when you put the kickstand down you need to clamp it together with your hand to lift it up otherwise it won't move so fyi on that. There are statues around the lake perimeter and some weird museums about film history and...Thomas Edison. It's very peaceful and a great cycling spot. Beautiful photo ops.

Public lake where you can walk or rent bike or 4- wheels family/couple bike ride Nice view especially in the evening

Amazing place ever! I highly suggest to rent a bicycle from a rental shop in the north and go south on it. There is a public park near the parking lot which has an wonderful view. Don’t miss this place because only focusing on the sea.

Ojukheon House & Ojukheon Municipal Museum is a well-preserved historical site in Gangneung, South Korea. It's one of the oldest traditional houses in the country and offers an immersive experience into the ambiance of the old era, allowing visitors to try on Hanbok, traditional Korean clothing. The house is notable as the home of a learned scholar and his mother who are depicted on Korean currency notes.
The oldest wooden residential buildings in Korea When visiting Ojukheon, you can immerse yourself in the ambiance of the old era. You can even try on 한복 (Hanbok), traditional Korean clothing, to truly experience the atmosphere of the Joseon Dynasty. This place is highly recommended for those seeking to delve into history, culture, and have a great time all at once.

Need take photo of the Shin statue. Also, visit the Money Museum. Had a cultural show performed by hardworking kids and dedicated adults that day!

My second time visiting here. Learn about Sim Saimdang, the woman on the 50 000 won note, and see some gorgeous traditional Korean buildings. Really beautiful in summer when the crepe myrtle, the tree of Gangneung city, is in bloom.
Cara T — Google review
If you are interested in going to historical places, this is one of the best places to visit. Remember the person in 50,000krw and her son in 5,000krw? They live there. So peaceful.
Caryl ( — Google review
Ojukheon is a truly historical and amazing place to visit in Gangneung. If you visit on the final Wednesday of the month, there is a discount for Culture Day. The location has a sprawling and well-maintained garden and a lot of native plants. There are a few buildings - exhibitions about the people who lived there, as well as a few photo ops and a money museum - which is there because Shim Saimdang and her son, Yi I, are both on modern Korean currency (5000 and 50,000 won notes). I had a great time here, it's very beautiful and the local shop has a lot of great souvenirs!
Celine T — Google review
Very interesting, even if you (like me) know little about Korean history. The place itself is very beautiful. Last Wednesday of the month there is a 50% admission discount.

A well preserved medium sized historical site, most notable as the home of the learned scholar on the 5,000 Won note, and his mother who is on the 50,000 Won note. If you like a bit of history it is good, and being so far from Seoul, most other visitors are Koreans. I think 2 hours here will suffice for most.

A nice, well curated historical site and museum on the birthplace of a famous Korean scholar. Entry very reasonable at 3000 Won (less than $3USD).

Gangneung Okuk Hanok Village

4.6

Lodge
Gangneung Okuk Hanok Village offers a unique experience where visitors can rent Korean-style hanoks and immerse themselves in the neighborhood's atmosphere. While not entirely traditional, these fairly new hanoks provide an authentic village stay experience. Additionally, the Seongyojang House within the village is a must-visit, offering a glimpse into the former upper-class residence of the Naebeon Lee noble family.
We spent 1 night in this hanok village and we loved it. It was our 1st time trying hanok but it could not have been better. So peacefull and quiet, very clean. We took the basic hanok but it was well enough! I recommand! The only difficulty was to book a hanok before I arrive in Korea because I didn't find any email address or foreigner website. Tips: I contacted them through Instagram.
Fiona Z — Google review
Ojuk Hanok Village... This hanok accommodation is right next to Ojukheon. While the exterior is traditional, the interior blends Western architecture with hanok-style decor, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Aside from its coziness, I enjoyed the colorful sunset and the serenity of a weekday evening. The next morning, the gentle early raindrops blended with the beauty of the hanok, making for a fresh and delightful morning. It felt like traveling back in time 100 or even 500 years, admiring the black bamboo—Ojuk—and soaking in the hanok's beauty. Whether you're Korean or a foreigner, visit on a quiet weekday to find peace of mind. Keep in mind, soundproofing isn’t great, so choose a less crowded weekday for your stay. -BOFF

We went here to experience the Seongyojang House. For only a few wons you get to relax and enjoy the hanok village. What I want most here is there is a trail that you can take, explore in the nature with most pines trees and you'll see the beauty of the whole village from above.

Nature & Parks
Cheap way to get up close with real ex-military hardware. The park is in 2 parts; ships and submarines on the ocean shore. Tanks and planes are on the other side of the highway, just a ways down the road. Don't miss the amazingly cramped submarine captured from the North Koreans.
Brian L — Google review
Cool museum with some interesting military stuff but both the submarine and the warship were removed from their positions.
Giusti A — Google review
Contrary to suggestions, the museum and park are very much open. I have today wandered through the Presidential plane and spent time in the museum. It has multiple objets de guerre as well as photos and video. The only downside is that very little is in English.

Submarine and warship are demolished. There is now only a small exhibit but with all signs in Korean. The planes and tanks are still there
Hans N — Google review
It's ok. The submarine area is closed off right now which was the highlight. Now it's kinda just a parking lot with ROKAF and USAF planes around it with descriptions. The best part was probably seeing the old presidential plane but it didn't make it worth the trip for me

Tofu restaurant
Chodang Sundubu Village, located just south of Gyeongpo Beach in Gangneung, is renowned for its fresh tofu, known as Sundubu. The village's name originates from Chodang-Heoyeop, a public officer during the Joseon Dynasty who used spring and salt water from the East Sea to make the delicious Sundubu. This culinary gem offers a must-try experience in Gangneung with numerous restaurants serving exceptionally fresh and soft tofu soup.
A Must-Try Culinary Experience in Gangneung! When visiting Gangneung, there's one culinary gem you absolutely cannot miss—Chodang Dubu Village. Located on the picturesque east coast of Korea, this village contained many restaurants renowned for its exceptional Sundubu (fresh tofu) soup. Unlike anywhere else, Gangneung takes pride in serving tofu that is both exceptionally fresh and delightfully soft. Prepared with a generous blend of seafood, this Sundubu is an exquisite treat, bursting with freshness and flavor. At Chodang Dubu Village, you have the choice of indulging in either the set menu 정식 (15,000 won) or savoring the Sundubu on its own (12,000 won). Trust me when I say, the taste is simply divine! 🤤
Anggun L — Google review
Chodang Sundubu Village is a place where they serve their soft, milky and delicious tofu. There are many restaurants to choose from but I was told that this one is the oldest and the most popular. You can tell they are popular with the long lines outside.
Wencel ( — Google review
Chodang Sundubu Village is famous for Sundubu (fresh tofu). The name of this village, Chodang, originates from the name of Chodang-Heoyeop. Heoyeop was the public officer of Joseon Dynasty era and also he is the father of Heo-gyun and Heonan-seolheon. He used spring water and salt water from the East Sea to make Sundubu. It was hard to get solid salt at that time because there's no salt pond near here. The Sundubu tasted good, and he named it Chodang Sundubu using his pen name "Chodang". After it came out to the public officer community that he ran a business, he was blamed. Because Joseon Dynasty believed in Confucianism and despised commercial activity. Anyway, it's the origin of today's Chodang Sundubu. It says it's Chodang Sundubu "village" but it's rather like restaurant area. I won't recommend to visit a restaurant that the largest number of people go, because the food they sell is quite similar. So just avoid going to the restaurants with too many people or with too low grades. (The green mark with number in the picture shows the location of restaurants)

If you're a fan of tofu, then you must visit 정은숙초당순두부 in Gangneung. This unique tofu is made from fresh seawater collected from the nearby beaches, giving it a distinct flavor that sets it apart from typical tofu. Recommend getting the "초당 명품밥상" where you can taste everything they offer at the restaurant. Tofu was good, and "두부삼합" was interesting. Also, the soup wasn't too spicy. There is an option to get the soup without the spice, just mention it when ordering.

Seafood restaurant
Great atmosphere, overlooks the ocean. Food is expensive but "one" serving can definitely feed two, possibly three people. Sashimi was delicious! Would definitely go back.
Samantha R — Google review
This restaurant has a trendy atmosphere and the food is very good and you get a lot of it. It is very expensive and I expect that has to do with the Olympics. King crab is 120,000 won (roughly 120 US) a kilogram. I had the spicy seafood and it was more reasonable at 40,000 won and is meant for two people. The red wine is chilled for some reason and even comes on ice. The service wasn't terrific for us even though there is a call button on the table. I suspect that the server was overworked somehow.
