Hate to see the market kind of dead...not sure whether it is due to political turmoil or just out of date??? Nothing to see or street foods.

A historic old market street with old shops selling food. Some converted to more modern cafes, while others retain their old fashion charm. Worth a visit to soak in the atmosphere and pick on some street snacks. Street parking and parking lot available nearby.

They're trying their best. Some good stores and street food. The brewery was a nice surprise and really the only place besides the German restaurant that was attracting crowds.

It's really pretty and maybe it was more lively pre-covid times but there wasn't much to do there when I went. I did enjoy the photo booth but that's all there was.

I visited during the day and most of all the shops were closed. I think the place comes to life at night time. It's a nice place to stroll through, especially if you need to kill some time before catching your next train.

It was a little difficult to find, but once we did, it was awesome! Go as it's getting dark and the street comes alive with a trendy yet old-school, retro feel. It's a great place to dress in old-fashioned school uniforms or take some black and white photos. Lots of yummy places to stop and eat street food as well. It's a blast!

I used this Gwangju airport to go to Jeju. It has few stores to use.

Gates 1-5 in the terminal have windows along the glass, exterior wall that remain open all day exposing passengers (including infants & the elderly elderly) to extremely loud noise and poisonous jet fumes throughout the terminal. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid

Rather small airport, but is clean and well kept. Nice benches to sit outside on. Easy to catch flights around Korea and into China

There is no food after you get through security. When your flight gets delayed, you just go hungry.

Its an okay outlet. I havent found anything I love but found basic stuff ~ mostly sneakers and some other types of footwear. They have a lot of golf stuff.

It's not as cheap as it should be (after all is supposed to be an outlet) . Here you can find mainly golf related clothes and shoes. There are some other stores with clothes and sport shoes but, personally, I haven't found anything to like.

Located in the centre of the city,the spacious Culture & Art centre is a gem of Gwangju. Unfortunately all the entire theaters and halls are under major renovation(craze of rich Koreans to change furniture every now and then and also take advantage of covid scenario,when public avoids gatherings). But still the complex is showing gallery of colored beautiful paintings and Avery catchy reminiscent of old Gwangju in black and white photographs. A visitor gets involved and engaged in the B&w photographs .But for me it was saddening to observe the simple culturally rich Budhisht society madly aping these west and converting the beautiful serene city to a concrete jungle.

The theater is grate but is quite complicated to access in with a disability/special needs family member. There is no infront parking, you must go to the underground one and then turn quite much around if you are going with a wheel chair. Staff is lovely and very helpful. The cafe place is fine!

Gwangju National Museum, Gwangju Museum of Art, as well as Gwangju History and Folk Museum are located relatively in close proximity of each other. Visited the 3 establishment. In my opinion, they in part tell the exciting story of Korean contemporary culture and rich vibrant, albiet, turbulent history. Good place to visit for relaxation, family outing, and tourist excursions. Found staff to be friendly and courteous. However, could not find any good gift shop.

Nice place to visit in Gwangju. Also has separate arts for kids.

the whole museum was nearly empty with three or four shows. the building was beautiful and entrance was free but it isn't worth your time. I'm sure there are better art museums in Korea only a hour or two away.

This is a taste if traditional Korea, that's for sure! Smells and sights and food to buy. I've only ever gone on a Saturday morning, when more people are likely to be there, but it's not overly crowded until after noon. In fact, around 10 am, it should be fairly peaceful. You will see and smell the fishmarket, with live octopus, shrimp, crabs and varieties of shell fish. See dried sardines, shrimp, squid and pollack. Loads of freshly made kimchi and all manner of meats and fruit and vegetables can be found. You can also buy food at stalls such as kimbab, steamed corn, heoddeok, and in winter, 붕어빵(fish-shaped bread filled with sweet bean paste). Prices are quite cheap and you can enjoy lots of local food for 10,000 won. However, this seems to be a shopping focused market and there are not really places to sit and eat there. There are some cafes, and a street food stalls where there may be a table or two. But it's common for people to stand at the stall and eat fish or rice cakes and various fried foods as a sort of buffet. As a foreigner, however, you might not feel comfortable doing this (unless you want the experience, of course). Across from the food market, there is the clothes market, where you can see hanbok and boots and bed clothes. On the upper floors you can see curtains and find the bathrooms. As with all traditional markets, you will feel a sense of time warp, like stepping back 20 or 30 years into the past. Yangdong market is fairly run-down, and parts of it feel very sad. Seeing the collections of pots and pans and baskets and brooms crammed into a small space will make you wonder how long they've been there and who needs or wants such things anymore. These are remnants of a byegone era. And it's bittersweet. But it's a good experience if you have the chance.

Everything you need is here - including international grocery store, kitchen, furniture and all your cooking needs from vegetables to meat to side items(barchans) as well as live animals. The place is bit old and you get that vibe. Saw live chicken, ducks, goose in a cage - bit of cultural shock - something I haven't seen since I left Korea in the 80's but definitely an eye opener. I would recommend you walk around within the core alley ways of the market, the furniture areas weren't worth exploring.

I love going to this market. But some other vendors i don't like their approaching to the costomer.

It has been boiled in 24 hours on a stove to survive in competition with others to give customers energy with the food . They entered witnessing and encountering as soon as they sit at the table one of enormous, belligerent food to find your appetite again in the summer having lost it.

While this restaurant operates 24 hrs, it's perpetually bustling, often resulting in a wait. To join the queue, you'll need a Korean phone number to register at the machine located at the restaurant's entrance. Unfortunately, lacking one, I couldn't add my name and opted for takeout instead. However, the takeout experience left much to be desired. Unlike typical Korean takeouts, the food wasn't ready-to-eat and required additional boiling. Moreover, a rice ball is not included in takeouts so I had to buy one from a convenience store. The portion size was generous, almost sufficient for two meals. Regarding taste, it was decent, but I must confess, nothing particularly remarkable. Despite its popularity, the overall experience failed to leave a lasting impression.

I visited here a long time ago and I expected that taste and absolutely I was satisfied the taste. The soup and sundae were unbelievable food in the restaurant. I strongly need the franchise of the restaurant in Seoul, and I want to eat again very much(I ate only 5 hours ago). I will go there again soon.

Wasn’t overly impressed. Went on a Sunday evening yet for some reason they were busier than expected. Once we got to the table, discovered the menu bears very little resemblance to the one in the United States so they were few food offerings I wanted. Me and my dining partner ordered yet the steak came out so extremely rare it had to be sent back for additional cooking (10 minutes later it was still more than rare IMO). Before we were completely finished with the meal the server was asking us to leave despite the fact that there were several empty tables in the restaurant including one 8-10 feet from our table. Prices for food here were easily >50k won per person or more. Expect you might be finishing dinner at the hotel room though.

Cozy place for family and friends. Steak was good taste with reasonable price. Staff can understand English and can manage your bills if you are traveling under business trip.

After trying out the Korean local restaurants was nice to have a good old steak some roast potatoes and a little veg. Was very pricey but after being away from home for 2 and half weeks was worth it.

I often go to this restaurant when there is a special event for my family. All the staff that works at this restaurant is kind. I like all the dishes at this restaurant, but I prefer the bushman bread for an appetizer and the baby pork ribs. They are so delicious that there are even people who come to the restaurant to eat only bread! So I want you to stop by this restaurant. ( You can have as much bread as you want. )

The food was really great! Our waiter was so friendly and accommodating. He checked on us regularly to make sure we were happy and satisfied. Our meat was just perfect! The portions were decent too! We are coming back for some ribs next time. Thank you for a pleasant experience.

Despite the low ratings, we gave this place a the benefit of the doubt and were highly disappointed. Not foreigners friendly - not expecting staffs to communicate in English but they failed to even attempt to answer our queries in our limited Korean. Just left the order slip on the table and left you to your own devices. Seating is tight like sardines packed. Duck was bony and tough, stew was bland - didn’t taste anything like duck. It was a thick tasteless broth and sure didn’t warrant that price tag. So, it’s a thumbs down for us.

The duck soup (Hot pot) is not delicious but I don't understand why there are customers in here😁 Because I have been eatten this food same same but the other restaurant is very delicous. But this restaurant is very bad. Duck meat is not fresh, bland...

Duck and veg boiled in soybean paste soup base. Taste abit like the sesame peanut sauce. Not bad la quite interesting. Mainly locals come here to eat. Gotta take out ur footwear and enter. They serve bbq galbi as well. Half duck is more than enough for two. Comes with red sauce that tastes like yong tau foo gravy.

Duck soup - One of the best soup in cheon-nam area. Characterizes the local food very well. Very thick and savory. Not spicy + doesn't smell bad at all. Designated parking space available. Tables are only on the floor A whole duck soup for 4, Half duck soup for 2. Rice not included so order separately Eat the vegi first, then have the duck (it is very tough at first, but gets tender as it gets cooked). You get one free refill for the soup. Stir it every once in a while to prevent it from sticking & burning. Highly recommend it!!

Best place to visit. I visited during March beginning. I wish I could visit when trees are green. Important: If you are not going by your own vehicle it could be difficult to coming back from their as you can use popular taxi calling app to call taxi from their. However you can use bus. Bus will be there at 40-70 min intervals.

Great place for enjoying nature and taking long walks. The walking 'bridge-like' platform has been extended, and now it meets the trail that comes from the Gwangju dam. The entire length is around 5-6 km and in can be done in one and a half hour.

This lake is quite beautiful place, even in winter, some spots are quite nice. Unfortunately it is quite far, and only 2 busses that come to this area. So it gonna takes some times for you to come here by public transportation

The eco park is stunning. We arrived a little late though so we couldn't take a lot of pictures while it was still light.

This is a good place to visit with family. The lake park is situated near Gwangju city. Public buses available but limited. The place is beautiful and good for groups.

A covered market with fish and food stalls. It's a regular market during the day. From May the July and September to November, the night art market runs from 7pm to 11pm on Saturdays. You can pick up art and homemade desserts or get your portrait drawn. They have a small gallery for local and foreign artists (Hanpyeong Gallery) and there are often performances and live music. Vegetable jeon(pancakes), fried whole crabs, clams, beef sushi, kimbab and more!

There is no night market on Saturdays, nor any art market. I don’t know why there is such false tourism information on the official tourism platform.

This place looks like it's frozen in time, has the 90's feel and you can tell it hasn't changed much. Not as much options as the Yangdong Market and it does feel bit dirty. It's a great to walk around and get a feel how things were like in Korea before 2000 hit. However, if you had to decide between Daein or Yangdong market to explore, I would recommend Yangdong.

Daein market is a nice place to visit once. I don't know if I would go more than once hahaha. Some stuff they had were seafood stalls, some stir fried stuff, and tarot card readers (which I wanted to try but wasn't confident in my Korean abilities). Thare are a lot of stalls so it's a nice place to eat while walking but since it's an outdoor market, I wouldn't go when the weather is cold.

A must go in Gwangju. Here you can feel the real local vibes, eat local food, buy handycrafts and attend some performance shows like opera singing.

Chill vibe with everything you need. Very local art scene. Handmade goods and cheap, delicious food.

Every third Saturday there are international tables offering food.

Good place should visit in Gwangju, near Asia culture center, underground shopping center, near walk street Jungjang -ro

Standing at this place, I wonder if the people fighting for democracy where fighting for a political system as it is today in Korea. How little is explained about the uprising on this place, I also wonder how important this actually is for people living on Gwangju today. It wasn't for the host I was staying at.

A beautiful square with so much history or the May uprising in Gwangju. There are also frequent live performances held in the square.

The place where many cultural activities take place, in the heart of Gwangju city. It's a landmark of this city and it was built to commemorate the 5.18 Democracy Movement's martyrs.

They are cute decorated with penguins and the retro items. I came here at around 5.30 pm in a weekday and no any other people at all. That's really quiet. Not much to do, just walk around and perceiving a cuteness.

Great place to pass by but definitely not a destination. Not much to see nor do here. We stopped by since it was on the way and that was just good enough. Spent about 10minutes and saw everything.

대박~ awesome place for 📸 photos and food. Great area to come in the winter. I think you can spend a good 2-4 hours here if you like to chill in a less crowded place especially during this period (corona/covid). Remember to wear the mask!

Great place for seeing Gwangju from above. After its remodeling, there's now a coffee shop inside that is opened until 10 p.m. One may enjoy daybor night view in a pleasant atmosphere.

A very good place to enjoy the city view. There is coffee shop available so you can enjoy coffee with full view of Gwangju city. At night time it really looks awesome. We went on rainy day at night time. So it was not too clear. Its next to the down town area (market).

Quite a trek up, the view is okay. They have a nice view, but you might bump into couples breaking up upstairs. A nice AR device upstairs which does like random fireworks displays on the touch screen other than that, not much.

Observatory which offers a great view on the city and the surrounding mountains. It's free, there is either stairs or a lift to access the top (love the accessibility option!). Toilets are outside of the observatory tower, on the floor below (very clean). There is a lovely cafe (great selection of drinks) with art exposed where you can relax with a view and listen to jazz.

20/21.5 would recommend! The best thing about this observatory is that it is free. Furthermore, it is located on a small mountain/hill, which makes the view perfect if you want to see much of Gwangju. I can only recommend to go here if you are going to Gwangju. You can even take an elevator if you are too lazy to walk up the stairs.

This museum is free and have a lot of good pieces of art. Most of it is ceramic work, some historic pieces and some strange things. You can visit in one hour and combine with other museum like the beautiful museum of art of the folk museum (didnt do it).

At the Gwangju National Museum, you can see beautiful Bronze Age artifacts from Korea. Including the bell with 8-thumbs, it is enough to enjoy the essence of the Korean Peninsula's Bronze Age culture. The Gwangju National Museum is directly accessible from the highway IC, so it has excellent accessibility and free admission. Exhibits are arranged systematically and according to historical flow, so you can see the history of the Korean Peninsula at a glance.

Unfortunately when I visit there, they only open for the 2nd floor. So, not much to see. But, still you can see old paintings from some famous historical korean painters. And the park is also clean and nice.

Gwangju National Museum was established in the late 1970's. The museum consists of many historical artifacts and artworks regarding buddhism and earthenware from sinan, Goryeo, silla, Bajae and Jaseon dynasties. The museum was developed to promote the prehistoric culture in Korea. Pets are not allowed at this place. There is no entry fee for this museum. And parking facility is also free. The museum closes on government holidays.

If there’s one thing that I can say is that Koreans know how to cook Mexican food. Everything had great flavor and the portions were just right. Decor was also up to par with the theme they wanted to create. If I’m ever back in the area I’ll be visiting again and you should too.

The other reviews look like years ago, nothing recent. Maybe it changed hands. The restaurant was on the 2F with no lift so no good for wheelchairs. No servers in the bar area for 10 minutes when I arrived. Tacos could only be one meat or another, not mixed up. I had the three tacos but they could only be either all pork or all chicken or all beef, not one of each that I wanted, although they were all the same price. No cilantro or lettuce or onions or cheese or limes on tacos, so not really Mexican or American style. All meat and some sauce. I didn't try the other dishes like burritos or chimichangas. Quite tasty but sadly unauthentic. Beer was kind of flat. You get a few free chips and some kind of runny sauce to dip them in. Overall, a fair price for what you get, but probably just reflecting the American customers in the area and their salaries. Friendly staff but no English speakers. If you're going to try to sell the cuisine of another country then at least get it right. It's like selling Korean cuisine in Rome and just adding kimchi to the spaghetti on every dish. I wouldn't go back, but not the worst. If it was late, and I was drunk, and everywhere else was closed. Didn't see any vegetarian options.

Good Mexican food. Lively environment. Staff is friendly. Service is good. Lots of foreigners visit here during weekends. Mostly crowded during weekends. Nice place to hangout and have a delicious Mexican Food. Price is affordable.

Family Land is the biggest outdoor and amusement park in Gwangju. During weekends is crowded and there is a lot of waiting time for attractions. The Zoo is better than it was but there is much place for improvement especially when it comes to animals habitats. Some of them are living in horbile cages or on a only cement environment. I was quite disappointed.

Basic facilities. Good for kids under 14. Not too crowded even on s Saturday. It can be boring for kids over 14. Nothing for Adult travellers. Good for young families. There is a zoo. Can spend a whole day. Good vibes.

Decent place for a family, but not a perfect spot for a little kid. I wish the entrance fee was a little cheaper as they don’t really have any rides. There are about 3-4 rides you can ride with younger kids (less than 36 months old).

Took the kids to Family Land last week and visited the zoo as well. The amusement park was fun for the kids and they enjoyed it, thus the 2 stars. The wait was minimal since we went on a weekday.
