Points of Interest & Landmarks
1913 Songjeong Station Market, situated across from Gwangju Songjeong Station, has undergone a revival in recent years. The historic market street was given a retro makeover and now features trendy indie stores, eateries offering tempura, ramen, and rice cakes, as well as long-established businesses selling groceries. The market boasts an eclectic mix of cafes, pop-up stores, and specialty food shops alongside traditional vendors.
Such a nice area to have a stroll and have some local food, snacks or drinks! It really had the old-fashioned vibe which I personally loved 🩷😊
Karolina P — Google review
Hate to see the market kind of dead...not sure whether it is due to political turmoil or just out of date??? Nothing to see or street foods.
Danny K — Google review
A historic old market street with old shops selling food. Some converted to more modern cafes, while others retain their old fashion charm. Worth a visit to soak in the atmosphere and pick on some street snacks. Street parking and parking lot available nearby.
Mihwa L — Google review
They're trying their best. Some good stores and street food. The brewery was a nice surprise and really the only place besides the German restaurant that was attracting crowds.
Chris D — Google review
It's really pretty and maybe it was more lively pre-covid times but there wasn't much to do there when I went. I did enjoy the photo booth but that's all there was.
Fatema A — Google review
Interesting place. Many things to see and eat around this area
Melline G — Google review
I visited during the day and most of all the shops were closed. I think the place comes to life at night time. It's a nice place to stroll through, especially if you need to kill some time before catching your next train.
Jason C — Google review
It was a little difficult to find, but once we did, it was awesome! Go as it's getting dark and the street comes alive with a trendy yet old-school, retro feel. It's a great place to dress in old-fashioned school uniforms or take some black and white photos. Lots of yummy places to stop and eat street food as well. It's a blast!

Shopping mall
SeJung Outlet, named after a common Korean name, offers an alternative shopping experience to Chungjang-ro. The outlet features a variety of well-known international and domestic fashion brands, making it a great place to discover new styles. With its spacious layout, it's an ideal destination for a family outing on a rainy weekend. Additionally, the outlet boasts ample parking in the bustling area and even houses a family restaurant upstairs for added convenience. Visitors particularly enjoy the MLB store located within the outlet.
A spacious outlet great for a rainy weekend with your family. Good parking lot in a busy area. A family restaurant upstairs upps the fun. I love the MLB store the most.

Performing arts theater
Experience the rich cultural tapestry of Gwangju at the Gwangju Culture & Arts Center, a modern facility that showcases a diverse array of artistic performances and events. From captivating concerts to mesmerizing dance shows and compelling theater productions, this state-of-the-art venue offers an immersive experience for both local and international performers. While accessibility may be challenging for individuals with disabilities, the accommodating staff ensures a pleasant visit. Additionally, visitors can enjoy amenities such as a cozy café and souvenir shop within the center.
I'm lucky to have such an opportunity to attend a concert. I liked the performance and the management as well. There r a coffee shop and the souvenir shop inside the building. Also, u can take a photo in a separate thema photo zone. My recommendations!
Aleksandra B — Google review
Located in the centre of the city, the spacious Culture & Art centre is a gem of Gwangju. Unfortunately all the entire theaters and halls are under major renovation(craze of rich Koreans to change furniture every now and then and also take advantage of covid scenario, when public avoids gatherings). But still the complex is showing gallery of colored beautiful paintings and Avery catchy reminiscent of old Gwangju in black and white photographs. A visitor gets involved and engaged in the B&w photographs .But for me it was saddening to observe the simple culturally rich Budhisht society madly aping these west and converting the beautiful serene city to a concrete jungle.
Surjit P — Google review
The theater is grate but is quite complicated to access in with a disability/special needs family member. There is no infront parking, you must go to the underground one and then turn quite much around if you are going with a wheel chair. Staff is lovely and very helpful. The cafe place is fine!

Specialty Museums
Located near the Gwangju National Museum in Jungoe Park, the Gwangju Museum of Art is a prominent cultural institution. The museum's main building was established in 2007 and houses a diverse permanent exhibition featuring Korean and international art forms such as painting, calligraphy, illustration, photography, decorative art, and new media. Temporary exhibitions showcase works by renowned international artists like Joseph Beuys and local artists often explore Gwangju's complex political history.
Walking into the museum felt like stepping into another world. Each painting told a story, each sculpture whispered history. My favorite part was the [specific gallery or exhibit], where colors and emotions danced together. The calm music and soft lights made the experience even more magical. I left feeling inspired to create something of my own.

Gwangju National Museum, Gwangju Museum of Art, as well as Gwangju History and Folk Museum are located relatively in close proximity of each other. Visited the 3 establishment. In my opinion, they in part tell the exciting story of Korean contemporary culture and rich vibrant, albiet, turbulent history. Good place to visit for relaxation, family outing, and tourist excursions. Found staff to be friendly and courteous. However, could not find any good gift shop.

Traditional market
Gwangju Yangdong Market is the city's oldest traditional market, offering a lively atmosphere where visitors can browse and purchase local produce, clothing, and handmade goods. The market is renowned for its diverse food stalls serving delicious Korean street food and traditional dishes. It provides an excellent opportunity to immerse oneself in local culture, savor authentic Korean flavors, and engage with welcoming vendors.
Can not be missed! You’ll find here the best food in Seoul . Known for the Netflix series do try other vendors , they are equally good 👍🏻
Ioana C — Google review
This is a taste if traditional Korea, that's for sure! Smells and sights and food to buy. I've only ever gone on a Saturday morning, when more people are likely to be there, but it's not overly crowded until after noon. In fact, around 10 am, it should be fairly peaceful. You will see and smell the fishmarket, with live octopus, shrimp, crabs and varieties of shell fish. See dried sardines, shrimp, squid and pollack. Loads of freshly made kimchi and all manner of meats and fruit and vegetables can be found. You can also buy food at stalls such as kimbab, steamed corn, heoddeok, and in winter, 붕어빵(fish-shaped bread filled with sweet bean paste). Prices are quite cheap and you can enjoy lots of local food for 10,000 won. However, this seems to be a shopping focused market and there are not really places to sit and eat there. There are some cafes, and a street food stalls where there may be a table or two. But it's common for people to stand at the stall and eat fish or rice cakes and various fried foods as a sort of buffet. As a foreigner, however, you might not feel comfortable doing this (unless you want the experience, of course). Across from the food market, there is the clothes market, where you can see hanbok and boots and bed clothes. On the upper floors you can see curtains and find the bathrooms. As with all traditional markets, you will feel a sense of time warp, like stepping back 20 or 30 years into the past. Yangdong market is fairly run-down, and parts of it feel very sad. Seeing the collections of pots and pans and baskets and brooms crammed into a small space will make you wonder how long they've been there and who needs or wants such things anymore. These are remnants of a byegone era. And it's bittersweet. But it's a good experience if you have the chance.
Lisa C — Google review
Everything you need is here - including international grocery store, kitchen, furniture and all your cooking needs from vegetables to meat to side items(barchans) as well as live animals. The place is bit old and you get that vibe. Saw live chicken, ducks, goose in a cage - bit of cultural shock - something I haven't seen since I left Korea in the 80's but definitely an eye opener. I would recommend you walk around within the core alley ways of the market, the furniture areas weren't worth exploring.

You see many dreams shining in fron of you and hanging on every structures everywhere , some collapsed , some emerged brand new , other constructed ,which appears to have belonged to one of your dreams you have made over the past decades and asked by the strong wind that is it possible you ' ve got to do one more whish as soon as possible before it is too late and you agreed on it and they are asking continually which could be more hardship to let you get back to a dream waiting to be done , having been stopped in younger period , and you stumbling like an alcoholic ,worring you are in a less power to reach a new dream , blaming aloud you are not the first but a second to higher level classes and for you it was good but for others it was not good who have sought to have more materials than you about housing , cars , food . You have found enduring success by their so many enterence and you have failed to give them awards by their anticipation not connected to their expectations even though you have searched in the markets in finding good materials to add more valuable fame to food and they have heard that , adding a much more admiration to your fame .They have came and spent money in adding to your profits and you have regularly felt their gratiitute and under their commitment to keep your business soaring you are determined. Updating the food along with many execelent goods is your choice .They are mobilized by proud of claims of food to a resturant shown like a brand name advertisement in a TV with unbelievable words that their things are magic to cure health problems and they are presenting in TV by doing so constantly for decades and what it belives us makes us standing in line at a store to buy the products without putting our studies on them to terminate or respect the ad on TV . They sit in the restaurant waiting , and hoping to get a real meal known for the best taste in town , with it their dreams should be done for one of their whishes they are dreaming for long time in all the world , experiencing bad or good at many places having kitchens to meet their demands bulgeding out like a bloonoon leading them intio a rich world that higher level classes have been living ,with the food that has been told as one of the most valuable gifts capable of attracting all people in town to the restaurant, they are really appreciate as they got one of their dreams come true at a resturant by food really delicious and attracted and made them cling to it every day . though so many whishes are left . When a dream has been done, they pursuit another one and they are seeking one more dream when previous one has been done ,with many whishes awaited in other fields to make a life living in abandon in search for anything , leaving a creature having many luxurious itemes . They are living with dreams already made or to be done . What was disappointing them was it was not a good dream to make them happy .It was bad one to struggle others with so many luxurious brands wearing and striding in as they are best in the streets .Unrevealing luxurious clothes is smart enough seen in the markets rather than giving more elegant , expensive ones found in next to doors in cheaper prices and in the post on walls in the restaurant they have found something a little good of best , having taken a lunch here to ensure that the food was a little be true and were only welcomed by them who preferred it but by others it was ignored , though it it is very good and delicious , so the owner must have prepared it that everyone will like as stark contrast of previous one . It has been boiled in 24 hours on a stove to survive in competition with others to give customers energy with the food . They entered witnessing and encountering as soon as they sit at the table one of enormous, belligerent food to find your appetite again in the summer having lost it.
Hwan B — Google review
While this restaurant operates 24 hrs, it's perpetually bustling, often resulting in a wait. To join the queue, you'll need a Korean phone number to register at the machine located at the restaurant's entrance. Unfortunately, lacking one, I couldn't add my name and opted for takeout instead. However, the takeout experience left much to be desired. Unlike typical Korean takeouts, the food wasn't ready-to-eat and required additional boiling. Moreover, a rice ball is not included in takeouts so I had to buy one from a convenience store. The portion size was generous, almost sufficient for two meals. Regarding taste, it was decent, but I must confess, nothing particularly remarkable. Despite its popularity, the overall experience failed to leave a lasting impression.
Hyojung K — Google review
I visited here a long time ago and I expected that taste and absolutely I was satisfied the taste. The soup and sundae were unbelievable food in the restaurant. Steak house
Family restaurant
Outback Steakhouse, Gwangju Sangmu, is a lively Australian-themed eatery that specializes in hearty steakhouse fare and seafood. It's a popular choice for family gatherings and special events due to its warm atmosphere and kind staff. The menu offers an array of delicious dishes, but the bushman bread appetizer and baby pork ribs stand out as favorites among patrons. The bread is so delectable that some customers even visit solely for it.
Im from the US. This Outback is better than any in the US. Steak was amazing. Service was great. Well done.
Han C — Google review
Everything was overpriced. We ordered pastas and steaks. The pasta sauce was a little blend and the steak was not cooked right. I guess our server was new? He looked very confused and kept asking the manager questions about our orders. I'd rather go to a non-chain steakhouse.
Jay E — Google review
Wasn’t overly impressed. Went on a Sunday evening yet for some reason they were busier than expected. Once we got to the table, discovered the menu bears very little resemblance to the one in the United States so they were few food offerings I wanted. Me and my dining partner ordered yet the steak came out so extremely rare it had to be sent back for additional cooking (10 minutes later it was still more than rare IMO). Before we were completely finished with the meal the server was asking us to leave despite the fact that there were several empty tables in the restaurant including one 8-10 feet from our table. Prices for food here were easily >50k won per person or more. Expect you might be finishing dinner at the hotel room though.

I often go to this restaurant when there is a special event for my family. All the staff that works at this restaurant is kind. I like all the dishes at this restaurant, but I prefer the bushman bread for an appetizer and the baby pork ribs. This is a must try in Gwangju! Go with an empty belly a few friends. They don't have a place for solo diners.
Chris B — Google review
Despite the low ratings, we gave this place a the benefit of the doubt and were highly disappointed. Not foreigners friendly - not expecting staffs to communicate in English but they failed to even attempt to answer our queries in our limited Korean. Just left the order slip on the table and left you to your own devices. Seating is tight like sardines packed. Duck was bony and tough, stew was bland - didn’t taste anything like duck. It was a thick tasteless broth and sure didn’t warrant that price tag. So, it’s a thumbs down for us.

They serve bbq galbi as well. Half duck is more than enough for two. Comes with red sauce that tastes like yong tau foo gravy.

Duck soup - One of the best soup in cheon-nam area. Characterizes the local food very well. Very thick and savory. Not spicy + doesn't smell bad at all. Designated parking space available. Tables are only on the floor A whole duck soup for 4, Half duck soup for 2. Rice not included so order separately Eat the vegi first, then have the duck (it is very tough at first, but gets tender as it gets cooked). You get one free refill for the soup. Stir it every once in a while to prevent it from sticking & burning. Highly recommend it!!

Day 2

West side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the west side side of town. Start the day off with The Gwangju Ecological Lake Park, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Gwangju National Museum. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

The Gwangju Ecological Lake Park is a stunning destination to experience nature and take leisurely walks. The park features an extended walking platform that connects to the trail from the Gwangju dam, offering a 5-6 km route for about one and a half hours of walking. It's an ideal spot for families to enjoy the beauty of the lake and its surroundings, with well-organized parking available.

Best place to visit. I visited during March beginning. I wish I could visit when trees are green. Important: If you are not going by your own vehicle it could be difficult to coming back from their as you can use popular taxi calling app to call taxi from their. However you can use bus. Bus will be there at 40-70 min intervals.
Shibnath S — Google review
Great place for enjoying nature and taking long walks. The walking 'bridge-like' platform has been extended, and now it meets the trail that comes from the Gwangju dam. The entire length is around 5-6 km and in can be done in one and a half hour.

This lake is quite beautiful place, even in winter, some spots are quite nice. Unfortunately it is quite far, and only 2 busses that come to this area. So it gonna takes some times for you to come here by public transportation

Daein Market

Market
Daein Market, once the heart of Gwangju's community, faced a decline with the emergence of large shopping marts. However, it experienced a revival during the Gwangju Biennale in 2008 when empty stores were transformed into art galleries. Today, it spans six districts and offers a mix of traditional market goods alongside art studios, gift shops, and food stores.
Daein Market is Korean style old traditional market where you will get traditional foods and kimchi also special fish ,testy pork and beef .Also resently this market started lots of art and culture activity , musice gigs and public art project . Many walls have large paintings
B S — Google review
A covered market with fish and food stalls. It's a regular market during the day. From May the July and September to November, the night art market runs from 7pm to 11pm on Saturdays. You can pick up art and homemade desserts or get your portrait drawn. They have a small gallery for local and foreign artists (Hanpyeong Gallery) and there are often performances and live music. Vegetable jeon(pancakes), fried whole crabs, clams, beef sushi, kimbab and more!
Lisa C — Google review
There is no night market on Saturdays, nor any art market. I don’t know why there is such false tourism information on the official tourism platform.
Kejing T — Google review
This place looks like it's frozen in time, has the 90's feel and you can tell it hasn't changed much. Not as much options as the Yangdong Market and it does feel bit dirty. It's a great to walk around and get a feel how things were like in Korea before 2000 hit. However, if you had to decide between Daein or Yangdong market to explore, I would recommend Yangdong.
Jason C — Google review
Daein market is a nice place to visit once. I don't know if I would go more than once hahaha. Some stuff they had were seafood stalls, some stir fried stuff, and tarot card readers (which I wanted to try but wasn't confident in my Korean abilities). Thare are a lot of stalls so it's a nice place to eat while walking but since it's an outdoor market, I wouldn't go when the weather is cold.

The old Jeonnam Provincial Office, now transformed into an art space, stands as a reminder of the May 18th Democratization Movement. Penguin Village, located in Gwangju, has become a popular attraction for locals and tourists due to its abundance of penguin murals adorning the buildings. This small neighborhood offers a break from the historical sites in the area and provides plenty of Instagram-worthy photo opportunities. Despite its size, visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll through the village, admiring the quirky art and unique references to media such as 'The Little Prince' and 'Little Red Riding Hood.'
Don't be underwhelmed, this place is actually incredible. First it is a product of a neighborhood coming together and creating a place that brings the community together. There are stores where you can buy art, crafts trinkets, souvenirs, etc. tons of penguin artwork on the walls and with standard, old, appliances like coffee makers. It has a donut and juice shop with amazing penguin-shaped donuts. They also on the weekend we were there, had dancing, both modern and traditional, musical performances, and the best part, an arts and crafts time where you can create some of the things the vendors there sell at their business. With our American family's trip to Seoul and Gwangju this was at the top of their favorite experience.

They are cute decorated with penguins and the retro items. I came here at around 5.30 pm in a weekday and no any other people at all. That's really quiet. Not much to do, just walk around and perceiving a cuteness.

Observation deck
Sajik Park Observatory is situated on the former site of the Sajikdan Altar, a significant ritual location during the Three Kingdoms Era. Nestled in Gwangju's southeast hill of Yangnim-dong, it serves as a museum of history, art, culture, and architecture. The park features modern monuments alongside century-old trees and hosts an annual cherry blossom display in mid-April. It has become a popular relaxation spot for locals and offers free parking with stunning city views.
Gorgeous views of Gwangju, especially at night. It’s free as well! You can take an elevator up if you don’t want to walk up 4 flights of stairs. Transportation getting there is very lacking though so expect a long walk or take a taxi. The views are worth it though.
Sean Q — Google review
Great view of the city. We went at night. It wasn't busy at all, and there is a lift or stairs. Cafe didn't have much to offer but a nice place to sit. The park had interesting lighting and a wish star which was fun

Great place for seeing Gwangju from above. After its remodeling, there's now a coffee shop inside that is opened until 10 p.m. One may enjoy daybor night view in a pleasant atmosphere.
Melline G — Google review
A very good place to enjoy the city view. There is coffee shop available so you can enjoy coffee with full view of Gwangju city. At night time it really looks awesome. We went on rainy day at night time. So it was not too clear. Its next to the down town area (market).
Neha B — Google review
Quite a trek up, the view is okay. They have a nice view, but you might bump into couples breaking up upstairs. A nice AR device upstairs which does like random fireworks displays on the touch screen other than that, not much.
Christopher F — Google review
Observatory which offers a great view on the city and the surrounding mountains. It's free, there is either stairs or a lift to access the top (love the accessibility option!). Toilets are outside of the observatory tower, on the floor below (very clean). There is a lovely cafe (great selection of drinks) with art exposed where you can relax with a view and listen to jazz.
Alexandra — Google review
20/21.5 would recommend! The best thing about this observatory is that it is free. Furthermore, it is located on a small mountain/hill, which makes the view perfect if you want to see much of Gwangju. I can only recommend to go here if you are going to Gwangju. You can even take an elevator if you are too lazy to walk up the stairs.

Specialty Museums
Gwangju National Museum, established in 1978, aims to advance cultural development and preserve historically significant artifacts from the Gwangju and Jeollanam-do regions. With over 130,000 objects, it offers educational activities and serves as a cultural destination for tourists and residents. The museum's architecture resembles a traditional palace and houses artifacts from South Jeolla Province, including prehistoric items dating back 66,000 years.
Worth visiting if you’re into Buddhist art or ceramics. A fair bit of history about the surrounding area and historical power struggles. Also some information on prehistory of the area. The museum is small and definitely has a more academic/teaching feel than entertaining, so probably better for older visitors. Free entry. Nice park like grounds to walk around.

At the Gwangju National Museum, you can see beautiful Bronze Age artifacts from Korea. Including the bell with 8-thumbs, it is enough to enjoy the essence of the Korean Peninsula's Bronze Age culture. The Gwangju National Museum is directly accessible from the highway IC, so it has excellent accessibility and free admission. Exhibits are arranged systematically and according to historical flow, so you can see the history of the Korean Peninsula at a glance.

Unfortunately when I visit there, they only open for the 2nd floor. So, not much to see. But, still you can see old paintings from some famous historical korean painters. And the park is also clean and nice.

Gwangju National Museum was established in the late 1970's. The museum consists of many historical artifacts and artworks regarding buddhism and earthenware from sinan, Goryeo, silla, Bajae and Jaseon dynasties. The museum was developed to promote the prehistoric culture in Korea. Pets are not allowed at this place. There is no entry fee for this museum. And parking facility is also free. Mexican restaurant
Tequilaz, a Mexican restaurant, offers a warm and inviting ambiance with friendly English-speaking staff. The waiter/barman provides helpful assistance in selecting the perfect meal. The drinks are flavorful but could use less ice. The food is delectable and spicy, showcasing the Korean talent for cooking Mexican cuisine. The decor complements the desired theme perfectly.
I came here with a friend for dinner without any expectations. At first glance, the dishes did not appear authentic BUT the burritos we ordered were actually awesome! In fact, I'd surmise all the food is good, because only a genius chef who isn't Mexican could make me like the food. I give this 9.5/10 for deliciousness.
Eric B — Google review
If there’s one thing that I can say is that Koreans know how to cook Mexican food. Everything had great flavor and the portions were just right. Decor was also up to par with the theme they wanted to create. If I’m ever back in the area I’ll be visiting again and you should too.
Julio I — Google review
The other reviews look like years ago, nothing recent. Maybe it changed hands. The restaurant was on the 2F with no lift so no good for wheelchairs. No servers in the bar area for 10 minutes when I arrived. Tacos could only be one meat or another, not mixed up. I had the three tacos but they could only be either all pork or all chicken or all beef, not one of each that I wanted, although they were all the same price. No cilantro or lettuce or onions or cheese or limes on tacos, so not really Mexican or American style. All meat and some sauce. I didn't try the other dishes like burritos or chimichangas. Quite tasty but sadly unauthentic. Beer was kind of flat. You get a few free chips and some kind of runny sauce to dip them in. Overall, a fair price for what you get, but probably just reflecting the American customers in the area and their salaries. Friendly staff but no English speakers. If you're going to try to sell the cuisine of another country then at least get it right. It's like selling Korean cuisine in Rome and just adding kimchi to the spaghetti on every dish. I wouldn't go back, but not the worst. If it was late, and I was drunk, and everywhere else was closed. Didn't see any vegetarian options.

If you're on the hunt for an authentic Korean dining experience, look no further than Sansu Ssambap Dongmyeong Branch. This bustling eatery is a haven for ssambap lovers, where short grain rice is artfully wrapped in fresh lettuce or perilla leaves and paired with grilled meats and zesty sauces. Even during lunch hours, you might find yourself waiting in line, but the swift service ensures you won't be kept waiting long.
Bossam! There's always a queue outside this restaurant so we added ourselves to the waiting list. The service is fast and furious. As soon as we sat down, plates of banchan were served and the signature dish of tender sliced pork and savoury broth with ssam (leafy wraps) was plonked down in front of us. It was delicious and good value at KRW 10,000 per person! No wonder it's so popular!!

Day 3

Proximity is everything
For day 3, we bundled attractions like Gwangju National Science Museum and Gwangju Family Land and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 7 hours.

Located in the Gwangju High-tech Science Industrial Complex, the Gwangju National Science Museum is a futuristic building with a striking metal-clad exterior and a glass dome. Opened in 2013, it offers interactive exhibits that promote scientific understanding and imagination. The museum features the World of Light, showcasing the properties of light, as well as the Science and Art zone, which explores artistic possibilities using light as a medium.

New renovations have really made it worth the money. So many more interactive activities that promote learning as well as a plethora of physical and movement games that keep children involved. Only downside is that even during a weekday, it is busy and crowded

Theme Parks
Gwangju Family Land, also known as Uchi Park, is a popular amusement park located in the Buk-Gu district of Gwangju. Spanning 290 acres, this family-friendly destination offers a variety of attractions suitable for younger children and families. Visitors can enjoy classic amusement park rides such as the Ferris wheel, carousels, and a swinging Viking ship. For thrill-seekers, there's a rollercoaster with two inversions.
We love this place to visit 😊 ❤️ and we are going every year for my kids
Vasundhara D — Google review
Family Land is the biggest outdoor and amusement park in Gwangju. During weekends is crowded and there is a lot of waiting time for attractions. The Zoo is better than it was but there is much place for improvement especially when it comes to animals habitats. Some of them are living in horbile cages or on a only cement environment. I was quite disappointed.
Melline G — Google review
Basic facilities. Good for kids under 14. Not too crowded even on s Saturday. It can be boring for kids over 14. Nothing for Adult travellers. Good for young families. There is a zoo. Can spend a whole day. Good vibes.
Shiyanga R — Google review
Decent place for a family, but not a perfect spot for a little kid. I wish the entrance fee was a little cheaper as they don’t really have any rides. There are about 3-4 rides you can ride with younger kids (less than 36 months old).

Chikita E — Google review
Took the kids to Family Land last week and visited the zoo as well. The amusement park was fun for the kids and they enjoyed it, thus the 2 stars. The wait was minimal since we went on a weekday. The zoo on the other hand needs to be shut down. The animal's living conditions are horrendous and they live in the tiniest enclosures. I saw one small enclosure with way too many birds in it. The elephants have no room to run and seemed stressed. The white fox walked toward us very slowly like something was wrong with him and his fur was dirty, matted, and missing in spots. We saw a meercat that couldn't put any weight on one of it's front legs. I can't remember the name of the animals next to the meercats, but one of those animals was dragging it's hind legs. I left that zoo feeling so sad for the animals living there. DO BETTER OR SEND THEM SOMEWHERE THEY WILL BE CARED FOR!
Sharon K — Google review
Decent rides, but the park as a whole is a bit old. Some of the rides were closed for repairs and a few actually had to stop while we were there. It's not bad, but the adjacent Zoo is definitely better. It's shaded and is great little park with a decent zoo.

Day 4

Off the beaten path
For day 4, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like KIA CHAMPIONS FIELD. Sports Complexes
Gwangju-KIA Champions Field is the home stadium of the Kia Tigers, with a seating capacity of over 22,000. It's easily accessible via bus stops and offers a well-structured environment with food vendors and stores selling various items. The stadium provides an enjoyable experience for both baseball enthusiasts and those simply looking to have a good time. Visitors can also enjoy the surrounding landscape and nearby restaurants while cheering on the players.
Lots of bus stops around so it was easy to access (plan that to leave the buses will be quite full). We arrived 1h in advance, bought our tickets at the ticket office, the staff was very kind and we could communicate a bit in english. There are lots of food vendors proposing sets in front of the stadium, you can either buy it there and enter with it or buy inside (i put pictures of some of the prices inside). The CU inside have more inventory than the ones in the outside ring of the stadium. The merch shop has lots of offer. Clean toilets of course, lots of trash bins with people helping to sort out. Large seats (some are not covered so be careful of the sun and rain) but most of all was the atmosphere! The fans were so great and cheering a lot, we loved the experience and would come back again!

Jungwoe Park is a lovely outdoor space located in the center of Gwangju, perfect for meeting friends from different parts of the city and enjoying a picnic. It's especially beautiful during cherry blossom season, offering a small amusement park for kids and families. The park is also close to museums and art galleries, making it an ideal place to relax. Korean restaurant
Located in Gwangju, Arirang House is a well-known establishment that offers a diverse selection of delicious wines on its first floor. This Korean restaurant has gained popularity as a renowned representative of the city. With its wide array of fine wines and an inviting ambiance, Arirang House provides visitors with an opportunity to indulge in authentic Korean cuisine while enjoying their favorite beverages. Situated at Bonaire, this popular dining spot attracts patrons seeking a memorable culinary experience in Gwangju.
(Translated by Google) It is a restaurant specializing in Korean traditional food with a long history and is so famous that there is no one in Gwangju who doesn't know about it. It is easy to find as it is located on the second floor of Geumsoojang Hotel, and is composed entirely of rooms without halls. Because it has been in business for a long time, it has an overall old feel, but it has a style that goes well with Korean traditional food. Compared to other Korean traditional food restaurants, you can enjoy a much wider variety of dishes for the price, and the overall taste of the food is deep. It appears that a lot of time and effort went into the menus other than the instant dishes. In particular, the taste of kimchi is quite good. Plus, it's not irritating, so you feel comfortable in your stomach after a meal. If you are visiting Gwangju for tourism or business, I highly recommend stopping by. Really enjoyed the Dakgalbi at this restaurant. Came here with my wife on a Friday night and was surprised we didn’t have to wait to be seated. The staff was very friendly and took our order almost immediately. We ordered the boneless Dakgalbi for two with the Gouda cheese and it was delicious. The flavor of the galbi is very unique and I love how they cook the entire dish in front of you. It is very entertaining to watch them flame the cheese with the torch. The steamed egg dish was very soft and had a nice presentation with the heart shape cut out. The fried seaweed roll was our favorite side dish… it had a great crispy texture and was filled with what seemed to be vermicelli noodles. Overall a great experience and I would definitely come back

(Translated by Google) Different from others. It is different from the signboard. The only prominent Baedal signboard in the food alley. While others use cheap designs that look old enough for 10 to 20 years, the boss here competes with a design that matches the trend. The sense is different. While others are trying to make the most profit with the least cost, the boss here shows sincerity by investing money and time even in trivial senses to provide the best satisfaction to the guests. The taste is different. Other famous dak galbi restaurants have mild spicy taste and shallow taste, but this restaurant's dak galbi competes with hot yet deep and rich savory taste. Bomdong and sesame leaves are also provided for the vegetables wrapped here. The boss is different. While other restaurants cut down on trivial expenses to make money, the owner of this restaurant offers new chicken ribs that guests mistakenly burned to satisfy their customers. In addition, when the meal is over, the elders greet each other with a loud voice and show sincerity by escorting them directly to the entrance. If I had opened a store in Seoul, I would have already occupied Hongdae, Ewha, and Konkuk University. If you do business in Japan, it's probably the most exciting Korean restaurant.
